Listen to me. You have to allow yourself to indulge in things that are currently popular. You have to allow yourself to make and wear things that are going to age with time and mark a certain point in your life. You are not losing your individuality by watching a popular movie or show. Never stop questioning things, though. Never JUST go with the flow because that's what others like and you can tolerate it at best. You know what you like better than anyone else, and you should never let external factors pressure you into doing anything! Just don't lose yourself in the isolating corners of "uniqueness". It can be such a lonely place to be in... Even long term as you look back on memories. Having something be dated is fun and something to laugh about.

kagakuro canon?

okay, this post will be a compilation of evidence and arguments on why i actually think kagami and kuroko is a canon pair.

disclaimer: they're not even my fav ship (it's midotaka), i'm really doing this cause i can't stop thinking about how canon it seems... (and cause it's fun)

right, so...let's start with the basics, shall we?

their relationship

well, i haven't watched many sports animes but kuroko no basket follows a classic plot that we all know:

two main protagonists that don't know each other enter a random and medium team, both with a goal. one is a prodigy and the other one is really bad at first sight but when combined with someone else they really show their potential.

yeah and in the end that "someone else" is mainly the other one, obviously. they always have that "we complete each other" talk and that's the whole plot.

we can see that in haikyuu, yes (and i've only watched a season and a half by pure pressure), but in knb we see that too.

kagami's the prodigy and kuroko is the "weak" one, their goal is to play against all of the members of the generation of miracles and win. they can only do that together, that's the start of everything!

in knb's case the plot is much more interesting than that, but it is still what the anime revolves around.

them being together is what makes them strong. they need each other to get in their best forms and they will stay together. kagami's the light and kuroko's the shadow. they're complementary.

i'm sorry, but that's a gay plot. - really, i've only watched sports animes with a canonically gay main characters, like sk8 the infinity and yuri! on ice, or with this fking sus idea that is litteraly the plot of the anime (i WILL say that it's even gayer than the gay ones. IT'S THE MAIN IDEA).

but that's only what i think, right? so let's proceed to actual arguments and evidence.

first things first...

them and the girls.

kuroko and kagami both show little to no interest in any girl in the anime, while all of the other seirin members and a lot of other characters do constantly.

momoi for example;

she's in love with kuroko and makes it pretty clear. on the other side, he also makes his disinterest clear, still treating her well cause he's a decent person, of course, but always letting her know he doesn't like her back.

in kagami's case, while every other seirin guy totally drools over her - even junpei, who has shown to have feelings towards riko - he almost ignores her existence. moreover, he's even judged by the others for 'not knowing how to treat girls' in one of their few interactions.

and you could say it's like aomine; momoi's even his type but he just doesn't like her. it's a normal thing. they care for each other and see one another like brothers, there's no romantic feelings. kagami and kuroko could just be the same towards her.

but that's why i have more arguments, obviously.

before that tho, there's alex too. there's nothing much to say since anyone would be uncomfortable in being kissed out of nowhere by someone in their 30s especially when youre a minor. and kagami does, even tho he's already used to it.

i just think it's weird for the author to make this much fan service towards her, making her be naked around his house and stuff, and make him, the main 'victim' of that fanservice inside the anime, be uncomfortable (even riko blushed when she kissed her).

we all know that it's not only "how americans are seen in japan", it's pure fanservice. it's already problematic. he isn't trying to make it less problematic by making kagami uncomfortable, that's just how kagami is.

the character's bible.

now we're starting to get somewhere.

for those who don't know, kuroko no basuke characte's bible is a book that contains canon data about the characters. we also have some interviews, with diferent questions that are answered by the characters.

one of those questions is what their types of girl is...

kuroko: gentle people

kagami: stable gir……person……

kise: a girl who won't tie him down

midorima: older

aomine: girls with big bust

murasakibara: tall girl (if taller than me, then forget it)

the only ones that dont especify gender, even tho asked for type of > girl < it's kuroko and kagami.

you may think midorima is included but actually not (still have my own headcanon ofc but)...

think of it like asking someone for their favorite type of fruit. "sour" is an ok anwer, you don't need to specify saying "sour fruit". but answering you like "sour food" instead it's another thing, it's weird... like you purposely said it to indirectly say you don't like fruit or you simply like all types of sour food.

it was a weid example but y'all understand my point, right?

it's even more weird since kagami was going to say girl, but hesitated. like...why? why would he hesitate and then change it to "person" for no fking reason? sorry, it's too sus for me.

ok. then there's the relationship pages. kuroko and kagami's (obviously) to be more specific.

kuroko's:

kagami: current partner

momoi: girlfriend?

kise: friend

murasakibara: friend?

midorima: this person is difficult to deal with.

kagami's:

himuro: brotherlike

kuroko: partner

midorima: he annoys me

okay, this doesn't prove anything by itself, and as is writen "old partner" (wow i cried) in aomine on kuroko's one we know that this means partner as in basket of course.

also! don't mind the "girlfriend?" in momoi, she refers herself as kuroko's girlfriend (that's why it's there and with a question mark) but that's all. it's canon that he doesn't like her, like i said, and they don't end up together. (ofc it's okay if you ship them duh- i'm literally doing a whole blog on kagakuro, i'm not the one to judge)

i just think it's a great addition, i couldn't leave it out of here and it's also SO cute even platonicly, c'mon.

and it also adds to the idea that they "complete each other" as in the sports anime plot.

okay, we've seen a lot of stuff now, but let's go to the thing that actually made me wanna do this post...

i was rewatching knb normaly until this happened:

translation: "i know one! they're so cute as a couple."

at first, i just laughed and imediatly took this picture to show my friends how canon they are (as a joke at the time). i was using my computer to watch and for some reason i can't connect my netflix account on it, so i was watching in a pirated website.

in this types of site, the subtitles are often translated by fans and since they are made by non profecionals, they always have a lot of mistranslations and typos. some fans like to purposely chance the translations too to make it more funny in some situations.

so after a while i figured i HAD to know if it was real cause i didn't remember to have seen this at the first time i watched.

i even took notes of what episode that was to check later in my tv's netflix, in both my language and english subtitles... but i am impatient so i did my research.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

One surprise after another, apparently! (actually, you could easily imagine what is about to happen);

You are entrusted to some proxies who will take you under their "protective" wing;

These proxies are: Masky, Hoodie, and Toby!

But mainly Masky and Hoodie since they are the only ones who have actually done any training when they arrived at the mansion;

Toby isn't very present because he doesn't care much and would still struggle to have an initial relationship given his Antisocial Personality Disorder;

But don't worry! He'll get used to you soon!

HOW DO MASKY AND HOODIE BEHAVE TOWARDS YOU?

They are slightly heartless bitches :(

(they're actually "somehow" nice to you but not too much);

I mean they would help you with training but make fun of you whenever they can;

This mainly Masky;

Hoodie simply giggles meanly and nods;

DON'T LET THESE "INSTRUCTORS" OF YOURS FIND OUT THAT YOU'RE SENSITIVE OR THAT YOU CRY EASILY!

I say this for your own good, really;

If Masky notices a sniffling or shining eyes from tears that would like to fall... you will find out what hell is;

"Awwww, don't tell me our little newbie is going to cry, right?" it may be the phrase you'll hear the most;

Masky will basically yell it in the presence of ALL the residents of the mansion just to give you a reason to cry more;

"Come on Masky, can't you see that the frail little thing here is shaking? Give them some personal space."

Another reality revealed, but this time it's Hoodie's fault;

He probably won't yell it like Masky, but he'll still say it in a higher-than-average tone of voice;

BUT WHAT IF YOU'RE ACTUALLY VERY BADASS?

If they notice that you are actually very neutral and don't care about their nasty comments, they will simply stop;

After all, it's no fun if there are no reactions;

Basically, they will just give you the advice you need to improve;

However, you may also have a short fuse!

Maybe you shouldn't point it out, you might unintentionally push yourself further, and since Masky also has a short fuse, you could start a fight with him;

If there's Hoodie nearby he'll stop Masky before killing you (but you'll have some deep cuts, bruises and, at worst, broken bones);

However, in the absence of Hoodie/other proxies, you will be killed without much scruples;

Butttt... consider yourself lucky because usually Hoodie and Masky are together all the time, either for tasks and because they have established a good relationship and don't spend much time with the other residents;

Above all they are good instructors;

They know when you've reached your limit and will stop you if they see you're going too far;

They will give you advice and plan a diet if they see that it is necessary;

It could have been worse, couldn't it?

WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE DURING TRAINING?

As said before, they would certainly help you a lot;

Both with advice and by encouraging you to keep going;

(they will become more and more familiar with this as time goes on);

However, I like to imagine that Hoodie does the exercises with you, both to keep fit and to be an example for you;

Masky observes the two of you, smoking his cigarettes;

In some cases he will join you;

(he made a bet on who does the most running laps with Hoodie);

"You know, Y/N, Masky has never been able to beat me in a running challenge", Hoodie usually makes fun of Masky;

"For fuck's sake, just shut up!" and Masky responds in a bad way;

While they may seem quite calm while training you, don't forget that they are professional assassins;

You don't really want to see them when they have to torture/kill someone;

But one day, for sure, you're going to see that because, ops!, from now on you are a proxy;

Current Situation: ace of swords (reversed)

So, he's not entirely sure on where he stands with relationships. On one hand he's like absolutely. He wants to be a little love bug but then on the other hand he's like nah, that's not a very good idea. Just kind of wanting to stick to himself and not let anyone in.

Challenge: 5 of cups

He's been screwed over in love before, so he's kind of hesitant to try again. He doesn't know if he can handle another person letting him down. He just doesn't want to take that risk right now, it doesn't seem like he needs a relationship right now. He might even feel that way about it too.

Need to focus on: 8 of pentacles

He's busy working. I don't think he has much time to be looking for any relationships. He just wants to put his head down and work on what he has right in front of him. He just doesn't want to be disturbed with any of it. He's rather better himself than have to put up with someone else's bullshit and that's fair. But also, if he wants something, he should try for it.

Past/leaving: 6 of swords

He really is trying to move forward into calmer waters. He doesn't want to keep looking back and thinking about everything and everyone who fucked him over. He's just sick of stay someplace he isn't wanted or needed. He's just done!

He's really good at ending cycles. He knows right away when he's had enough of going around and around. He's good at putting a stop to situation-ships that do more harm than good for him. He knows his value as a man and he knows what he deserves. He deserves someone who can bring as much to the table as he can.

He's just going to keep investing in himself and just keep making things better for himself and better for his future. He just wants to keep doing what's best for him. But part of me is wondering how much he must be longing for a partner, like we saw early he wants the cheesiness of a relationship.

He needs to work on stabilizing his emotions a little bit more. Not that he gets angry quickly or anything like that. It's more of like he might be quick to fall for someone who could be trying to manipulate or take advantage of him. He's just kind of susceptible to it.

Someone around him could be encouraging this self-isolating energy. Not in a healthy way either. It feels like it's more for selfish reasons than anything else. This person doesn't have good intentions, it's more of like they'll be jealous that Jay would be spending time with someone else and wouldn't have time for them anymore. It could be a close friend or something similar.

Hopes and fears: 3 of pentacles (reversed)

Again, he wants companionship but he's very scared to pursue anything in any capacity. He's hoping something comes to him and he doesn't have to go looking. But he's going to have to go looking. That's not how any of that works, he has to put himself out there and actually try his hardest!

I think he's mostly worried about getting caught. Like having whatever he chooses to be seen by the public and being judged for it. I would say he doesn't need to be concerned about this but his whole career relies on it so it's kind of a tough spot for him.

I'd joke about this interrogation question and how I've written a whole post about her Kazui parallels and how the 0308 parallels are so very real and we have the 020708 + 06 sometimes and that isn't even going into the 0809 parallels and the 050608 family parallels, but also I'd like to take a moment to mention how isolated Amane is actually.

It seems partially self-imposed but even before this she seemed to be the most withdrawn out of all the cast members. Not only does it seem like she was alone before the prison she says herself her upbringing isn't the standard.

Amane: Aren’t we the same? Me and Warden-san. You know, I’m aware that I’m out of the ordinary. That my environment was peculiar, and that everyone [else] is normal.

Amane is so far away from everyone, both physically since in T2 she isn't really willing to talk to anyone. And uh...metaphorically I guess. I don't really know a better word for it.

Amane is so young and the stuff she's experienced is so non-standard I'm not surprised she feels excluded and isolated. Part of a cult's indoctrination process is to isolate it's victims, and the more isolated you are the harder it is to crawl out of it.

Not to mention the ways the other prisoners make her Feel Excluded. Shidou does this often by making her feel Looked Down Upon.

He doesn't Mean to hurt her but it doesn't really change the outcome does it?

Notably the people she talks recently to are the ones that ask her for advice or her opinion. Fuuta has done that multiple times and Yuno did it recently.

Humour me with some small talk while I take a break. By the way, Amane. Have you ever wished you were never born? I’ve thankfully lived a pretty fun life so far, so haven’t really. But you seem to be struggling with something. So I kinda wondered if you thought like that. Amane: ……I don’t think that. Being born into this world is the first miracle any person experiences, and is something to celebrate. Even if after birth I was put through trial after trial, the value of that will never disappear. Yuno: Hmm. Ok. ……happy birthday, then. It’s good that you were brought into the world, I guess.

It seems like Amane appreciates being listened to and being asked for her opinion, which tracks with things she said in her in the T1 VD.

Amane: I see. Then, are the things that I as a twelve-year-old think irrelevant? Are you going to cast aside the feelings that I know I have in this very moment, purely based on the fact that I have not yet lived for a very long time? Judging these things based on someone’s age will not take you very far. Do I, at age twelve, not have my own will? Does Muu-san, at age 16, have more of a free will than I do? Does Yuno-san, at age 18, have more of a free will? Does Fuuta-san, at age 20, have an entirely free will?

It makes sense to me that she appreciates this, for most of her life it seems her wants and feelings are discarded and considered unimportant.

You might notice this makes Shidou's treatment of her worse. I'm so sorry Shidou but calling her actions a "temper tantrum" was one of the worst things he could of done in this situation. At this point if you get bitten by her it's on you.

(I wonder how much of Amane's hatred of Shidou is because of her cult and how much of it is because of this behavior. Thinking about the 050608 family parallels again...)

Really, no wonder she thinks nobody is like her. The only reason why I can make all these parallels is cause I have access to her magic mind MV and the rest of the material.

Kazui does not know how much Amane lies to protect herself. Amane doesn't know that Mahiru conflates love and pain together. She doesn't even know about Fuuta and Kotoko's crimes for justice! All these people she could relate to and she can't reach out to any of them.

Their so far away from her, it seemed fine in T1 but now the distance is so much bigger now. She's guilty, most of them are innocent, and the ones who are guilty are going through their own pains. Of course nobody is like her, she doesn't know anything about anybody here.

Infodump about Felix

Appearance rambles:

Even though he's covered in enby pride flags, Felix as a character isn't enby. I'm just projecting my pride onto his design since he's one of my main fursonas + he looks amazing in it

The pride flag on his backpack comes from a content pack someone named Trick made for me a long time ago. I asked for the texture to be changed and said surprise me, and that's what I got. I've kept it as his canon design since.

That also inspired me to add more enby flags to his design, which were added in with content packs {except the one on his shorts}.

The shirt and shorts are the ones they are 80% because I literally didn't know what else to wear and 20% because I actually thought it looked cool. Actually, that's... a lot of his outfit.

I got the shoes during ToonFest 2023 when all the previous codes became public. They look terrible on him and do not fit his color palette or aesthetic. I love them <3

He used to be a tall Toon, but I wanted to look closer in appearance to someone else's Toon so I changed him to a medium height Toon. He also used to be completely orange, but I gave him coral legs because I thought it was something I was obligated to do for being high laff because I saw all the high laff Toons with different colored legs. Past me, sweetie, those were elitists... but it's okay because now I love the coral legs and don't think they're an abomination!

Basically, he's very much thrown together from outside influences and I wouldn't change it for anything now because it became his "brand"

OC lore rambles:

So once upon a time a Toon named Ghostly Felix glitched so bad that his immersion in the world was completely broken and he realized he was in a video game. This was exciting at first and he hacked in max everything, cheated to be invisible so he could hilariously kill bosses with just bike horns or something, ETC.

But after a few years he got bored and basically started pondering his existence. So he created a Toon named Felix so he could be invisible and watch him complete the game so he'd have something to do. When just Felix was boring, he made Cap'n Felix, Doctor Felix, Mr. Felix, Judge Felix, Midnight Felix, Spooky Felix, Frozen Felix, Lucky Felix, Fairy Felix, Prince Felix... you get the idea.

Well, on the day Felix reached 140 laff he found Ghostly Felix by a weird glitch. At first Felix thought he was a new Felixverse addition, but realized that Ghostly Felix already had 140 laff and was acting really scared for some reason. Finally, Ghostly Felix spilled the beans about the fact it was a game and how he created the Felixverse

Felix was horrified to find out he was right, and he instantly got pretty bummed out and asked what the point of his existence is.

Eventually, this was his answer: "To have fun. You don't need to spend so long thinking about it or making it complicated- it really is that simple."

Other rambles:

His name is Felix because when I first played TTR, I tried to name him Shaun because that was my name at the time. It was instantly denied, so naive me thought "too many Toons must have that name already" and picked a random pick-a-name. I didn't expect to really get attached to my Toon or particularly care about him, which is also why he's such an obnoxious orange instead of literally any color I actually liked at the time. Well, orange is now my second favorite color because of him and I wouldn't change his appearance for the world.

He's not based off of a TTO Toon. I only remember one Toon I made in TTO, which was a red rabbit named Raboon {"rabbit" + "toon"}. I've already remade Raboon in TTR on a different Toon slot, but I didn't want to be a rabbit in TTR when I was first starting, I wanted to be a cat! So that's why I made a new Toon.

Originally when my Felixverse lore was much more resembling a kid's cartoon {yes the entire old lore that I told literally nobody was retconned lol}, he had a love interest Toon named Felixia. She was an orange cat who, like older cartoons, was basically supposed to be a copy/paste of him except feminine and cutesy. I do not have any Toons named Felixia in any of my TTR or TTCC accounts, but when I used to play Toontown Offline I did make her an unreasonably overpowered SOS Toon who would use marbles that did 200 damage.

Felix's name is actually pronounced in German, meaning that it's pronounced kinda like fae-lix rather than how most people pronounce it to me, which is fee-lix.

Speaking of his name, if it wasn't evident enough already, he was Felix before I was Felix. He basically became my identity online over time.

Ahaha... well, I do have some thoughts.... I kinda try to have more overarching or general theme 'theories' or perhaps you could say 'beliefs' of 'directions', it can be more embarrassing to have very short-term going-to-be-dispelled-in-a-month musings ... BUT ... well haha I can't control my BRAIN...

I've been thinking that... I'm not sure Tsukasa is really 'a person' in this situation, at least not to Kako or the Clockeepers in general. If I think about a court trial, responsibility, blame, I would think that NUMBER 7 is responsible for those he has DOMINION AND CONTROL OVER, his YORISHIRO, and his KANNAGI. If HIS properties, his SACRED OBJECT, and his SERVANT, are acting up under HIS stewardship, then it is ultimately his fault... not theirs. Right? That is how I'm thinking...Nene-chan can only know what Hanako tells her, and she can only move about with significant kaii help. Tsukasa isn't meant to do anything at all, on his own! He's just a battery powering Amane!

I would reaaally love Tsukasa dehumanized. I would not imagine the kaii longterm governing the mysteries would really be able to see yorishiro as 'people' so much as 'things' (there is also almost no way Akane would see Tsukasa as a 'person'!), and regardless of if yours is a pair of scissors or a body, it all serves the same purpose (to keep you in line). The destruction of yorishiro is something this system allows for -- which Hanako is typically in charge of-- it is not something considered murder, or whatever, of course. Mysteries do not get to consent over being peeled if the leader decides it is necessary, but more important to me right now, is that yorishiro themselves get the least amount of control. Tsukasa was seemingly trapped in Hanako's boundary and needed assistance to get out ... Sumire sure couldn't do anything even given a hundred years. Sumire being destroyed by Hakubo is not a criminal investigation in and of itself; she belonged to Hakubo after all, a mystery has the power to destroy their own yorishiro. In my mind.. yorishiro are the ultimate underdogs of this system. They are made, and discarded, for the purpose of being someone else's power. For a boy who once killed himself to save his brother, it's a perfect role for Tsukasa .... something that only exists for Amane.

I guess though, overall I do think Amane has been, this whole time, letting Tsukasa do as he pleases, because he is curious about what Tsukasa wants to do. Once he figures out Tsukasa is responsible for the chaos, he no longer makes any effort to catch/stop him.

^ This Amane to me, is a reveal that he is warmly, affectionately watching Tsukasa, in mirror to how Tsukasa likes to watch Amane. I am not sure Tsukasa, when alive, really did things for himself often? Did Tsukasa have big wishes, dreams, ambitions? Maybe yorishiro Tsukasa is the most self-possessed and disruptive he has been...? He was always asking Amane if he liked or wanted something.... but now, he's disobeying him of his own accord. I wonder if Amane likes that...

*kaff* but well, how does that matter to the trial... I guess it could mean anything. Maybe Amane could just throw his hands up, maybe he could just finally put Tsukasa back in his boundary. Maybe he could lie and say he was only here to do just that, not to help them...but to subdue them. I wonder! Listen judge I'm not involved.... (weirdly, Akane and Teru could confirm that...? They found him helpless and stuck... crying... )

I had a fun fantasy of Tsukasa being forced back into Amane's boundary, but at the last second grabbing Nene-chan and sending her there with him... that would be so fun (: that's fanfiction at that point though haha.. I'm just desperate to see that boundary, and I'd love for Nene-chan to see Tsukasa incapacitated in his coffin... ♥ she just got to know him... it would be nice if she could see him 'dead'. It would be nice if 'finally stopping Tsukasa' didn't come with a sense of victory. Seeing the typically vivacious little boy, who just sang by her side, as a corpse, would be harrowing.

I would be interested in Amane and Teru teaming up against the Clockkeepers lol... in this situation, I think their goals align .... ? why not ... if they both want their power revoked... Teru doesn't like the mysteries existing at all! Neither does Kunishige....

you're in my twisted post of fantasy so, well. For fun. For fun! let's imagine Tsukasa is locked back in Amane's boundary, helpless. And then, let's assume there is no choice but to peel the clockkeeper yorishiro in order to right the school's time, and Amane nudges Nene-chan to do it (what a sensation! how haunting! who is the 'bad guy'?)... let's say after that, Natsuhiko and Sakura don't actually have a reason to free Tsukasa-- I mean-- Mitsuba is in their pocket, and No. 7 allegedly already agreed to peeling Tsukasa ... so past a certain point, do they need him anymore? Haven't they accomplished enough? I'm not sure either of them really and truly ally with Tsutsu... and he's already willfully suicidal on his own. They know he wants to be destroyed. There is no reason to 'save' him, he isn't asking to be saved at all; not the plan and they know it. If he's in Amane's clutches, that's convenient in a way.

If only Nene-chan could free Tsukasa, and become his assistant for real...

Oh yeah... I also have the thought that ah, I would love it if the Clockkeeper's losing power meant Akane lost his kaii-related memories? That would mean losing his memories of confessions with Ao-chan, and the ability to help heal her hand, or even understand it is hurt, perhaps... it would place a lot of power into Teru's favor, as he and Aoi could then exclusively share the kaii-world-knowledge, and only he could heal her, or protect her from supernatural harm. I like the thought of Akane and Aoi having to 'start over' in a way, and Aoi having to lead this time... I like Teru's manipulative underhandedness, with Aoi, how he blackmails her, pressures her, etc... Akane being made the least relevant and capable would be very captivating. It could force Aoi to protect him doggedly. Which I think would suit the manga's ever-reversing dynamics (: HOWEVER! Akane losing his memories of kaii would ALSO isolate Teru, as Akane is the only person who knew his real self. A lonely Teru is fun and funny!

I guess I also wonder if Kunishige-san and Tiara are actually beating ass out there in the school, if Kunishige has a tool for ... any of this.. on his person... to not be effected ... or something.. idfk. I don't actually care about them but I am trying to bare them in mind lol....

Fun fact: the dog mentioned was inspired by the dog a (late) old man in my old neighbourhood used to walk. At the time it felt like a good idea to include Peeks; Johnny had passed not too long before and seeing his wife walk the dog kind of... you know how it goes.

As soon as you mention Peekaboo's scar, there's a gun. Jane takes several steps back. You scramble for the poor dog. She squirms and claws at your arms. Someone shrieks. You're not sure if you're aggravated or relieved that the crowd disperses.

"Give me my dog back." Gun waves around. Jesus christ what have you gotten yourself into.

"She's not your dog though..?" Hold Peekaboo a little closer. Thankfully she's stopped moving. Gives your arms a break.

"Craig, please, put the gun down," Mr Jane says from somewhere behind you. Not too sure what to think about his leaving you out in the open, either.

"No! No, I just want my dog back," Dog Show Serial Killer Craig demands. You can only shake your head. Staring down the barrel of a pistol isn't doing wonders for your backbone.

Pulls the hammer back on the pistol. You wonder for a second who the hell still walks around with a six shooter, but take a step back.

"Woah! Hey, you shoot at me, you're gonna shoot the dog!" Pull Peekaboo higher against your chest. Feels a little wrong to use a dog for your own safety, but whatever works, right? "You haven't killed any of the dogs yet, right? Why start now?" Trying not to sound too desperate. Probably failing horribly.

The gunshot causes more shrieking. You can't make most of it out from the ringing in your ears. Peekaboo promptly flips her shit, makes it nearly too hard to hold onto. Yelps when you squeeze. Well, maybe if she didn't wiggle like a god damn snake this wouldn't be a problem.

"Okay! Okay, please, just calm down!" Plead, crouch to the ground. The dog seems to be getting ideas. Give her a quick squeeze to calm her down. "Look, I'm not judging you, Craig. I don't understand but I can respect your decisions, alright? I'm not making fun of you." Sit down, cross your legs, curl yourself up around Peekaboo as much as you can.

Still feels like a dick move to turn the dog into the more prominent target but whatever keeps you alive long enough for whoever to save your ass.

"Just, Tommy's niece, right? You've seen her around probably. The black girl in the wheelchair? She's been seeing Peek for months since she can't get a dog herself. She's like a therapy dog to her, y'know?" Scratch Peekaboo under the chin, on the top of the head. Vaguely register the gun lowering.

You have no idea why a blatant lie about a girl needing a dog for therapy is working but you're going with it.

"She's not his niece," but Serial Killer Craig doesn't sound convinced by what he's saying.

You're halfway through going through a half assed explanation about how Tommy's first wife had an adopted step brother who had a kid about twenty years ago when Agent Lisbon—conveniently and magically—appears around the corner of a nearby car.

Shouts at Craig to drop the gun. Serial Killer Craig looks at her, mutters something. Turns back to you.

Oh fuck.

Shit.

You roll off to your right as he pulls the trigger. One gunshot is followed by a second, third. A fourth. The bullet grazes your left thigh and it burns. Don't let go of the dog. Turn to lie on your back, hold her against your chest and try to remember to breathe.

You aren't doing too well with the breathing. Someone off to your right declares Dog Show Killer Craig to be dead. You can't find it in yourself to be relieved. Your ears are still ringing.

Everything sucks.

Someone tries to pry Peekaboo from your arms. Screw your eyes shut, refuse to let go. Jane, to your left, quietly reassures you. Slowly uncurl your fingers from fur. Let go.

"Can you stand?"

Grit your teeth together, try to get yourself standing on one leg. Arms too stiff to hold your weight. Every limb shakes. You're carefully and slowly helped to your feet. Guided to the back of an ambulance. You expect to have the graze treated and be sent on your way, though you're informed you're being taken to the hospital anyways. You don't have it in you to protest.

Jane hops into the back just before you leave. Sits down, doesn't say a word. You grit your teeth in pain the rest of the way.

The hospital is wholly unnecessary and this is what you insist on saying every time someone asks you how you're feeling. You don't check yourself out.

Mr Jane vigilantly remains at your bedside, flips through a notebook. Doesn't look or speak to you for over an hour after you get a room. You're fine with that. You've been given pain killers, some kind of antianxiolytic. Besides the mild throbbing pain in your thigh, feeling pretty good about yourself.

Until you remember Serial Killer Craig's very dead face.

You try not to think about it.

Make an attempt at a nap. Wake up around two hours later, don't feel any better. A nurse pops in to check if you're awake.

"Sorry, the man that was here? Did he leave?"

The nurse smiles, politely. "Mister Jane left just about an hour ago. He left a note for you," unclips a note from the clipboard in her arm. "Said to call him when you felt up to it. How are you feeling?"

Better. Terrified, but better, is the conclusion you arrive at. the doctor who originally treated your wound comes by, runs through the process of after care with you, before eventually discharging you. But only after you very heavily insist.

Now that Dog Show Killer Craig is pretty much out of the picture, you see no problem going back to your apartment. Going to work in the morning... may be problematic. If you can spend the day behind the counter sitting down you figure you'll be fine.

You store the gauze, ointment and waterproof bandages under your bathroom sink. Make yourself a pot of coffee. Getting back to Yuba took far too long. By the time you can finally sit down and relax, it's nearly midnight.

This was not how you had envisioned spending your day.

You slowly sip at your cup of coffee, contemplate the note Jane had left you. Just the barely legible words "yellow tape?" and a phone number which you assume is his. You have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

Don’t turn on the TV. Or the radio. You assume that a serial killer being caught and gunned down at a dog show's going to make the news. You don't want to hear what anyone has to say about it. You especially don't want to know whether or not your name or involvement will be mentioned. You're not sure if you want it to or not. Schrodinger's feelings about murder solving involvement.

You play with your barely-charged phone. Save Jane's number in your contacts. Don't hit 'call'. It's late. You should be sleeping. You've been warned you might have nightmares. Definitely not looking forward to that.

Crack open all the windows in your small apartment. Turn on the TV to some soap opera for background noise. Grab your laptop, open a new Word file, and start writing.

He stands alone on the CBI rooftop when his phone dings with a message. He wholly expects to find Rigsby's drunk-texted him again. Sees a number he doesn't recognize, but knows the general locale of.

Flips his phone closed, drums his fingers along the side for a bit. Heads back inside when he doesn't get a reply within five minutes. Assumes you sent the message in bed, halfway asleep. Probably feel embarrassed to message a complete stranger at three in the morning, and scared he might blow you off because of the time.

Smirks. Goes back inside to his desk and his cup of tea. Stares at the strip of yellow duct tape he stuck to the window.

Also I know people might say when they did loucha’s quest they didn’t really find anything fulfilling but me personally I think that this gave us insight into that he isn’t really a bad guy per-say me personally I feel like he is more of a grey character but we don’t really know much about him yet

But a lot of people (march 😒) judged him but welt had every reason to judge this man because of what happened in HI3 and I can understand having his suspicions because of the messed up stuff he did.

The reason why I’m giving march the side eye 😒 is because she was soo quick to be impatient and snappy and it kind of annoyed me because of how quick to anger was too rash and wanted to hurry up the process of the case she got which was irritating not to mention she hates negotiating which is a very key in every transaction and if you want something you’ll have to sometimes charm someone for the right price that or to charm the person your getting information from for example, sampo.

And yes I'm aware the quest is meant to be like- A buffer to mitigate those "Luocha is Otto so he's a bad guy!!" ideas but I feel that this... was still not the best way to do it.

We only learn that he's not such a bad guy until the very end when it's revealed this whole goose chase was practically for nothing since all he did was save some two guys and gave them a prescription, then stopped people from getting spoiled.

People say that the companion quest is like this because MC hasn't met Luocha but... then they meet him on the Express after his quest bc Dan Heng apparently invited him there...

We also had a companion quest for a character we haven't officially met before and that was Silver Wolf. I'm pretty sure MC has only seen Kafka at the beginning before Kafka handed them over to the Express. You can also argue that she's possibly a bad guy since she's wanted criminal by the IPC for 5 billion credits.

Despite Silver Wolf not having as much screentime as the other characters in the quest, we still learn a pretty important part of her character. We get to see her motivations and what drives her actions. Even though the Stellaron Hunters' story isn't complete yet either. Plus we get valuable lore about her homeworld "Punklorde", which was very interesting to me.

But I digress. Ultimately, I'm speaking from my perspective as a writer. I have my own standards for what makes good character writing but people can have equally valid ideas for what they believe is good character writing as well. The fun of art is that it's subjective and everyone has a different interpretation.

I will be honest, when I first read this I did start freaking out (in a bad way) and I did want to smack mike upside the head. But then I realised this has to be from wills pov, it doesn't make any sense otherwise.

Why would Mike think that? He's literally in the hellfire club so there's no way that he'd make fun of will for still being "12 years old", thats will internally beating himself up, like we all do if we say something embarrassing. Will could feel how awkward it was so he quickly shut up. But why would it be awkward? Maybe because last time it was suggested to play DnD forever they had a break up fight in the rain and Mike found Will at a destroyed castle byers. It became awkward in the van because that's exactly what Mike was thinking about and he felt guilty. He felt guilty because the very last time these two ever talked about DnD, Will promised to never join another party, and Mike couldn't even suppress his smile hearing that. It became awkward because that's all Mike could think about, not because he was judging Will for saying that, but because all Mike did when Will left for California was stay in his basement and play games, and Will just asked him to do exactly that, so he probably didn't bring up nice memories for Mike.

But Will did not put two and two together like that, it even says it in the script! He's oblivious. He thought the shift in mike's mood was because of El, so that's why he started to comfort and reassure him about her!

That's why he's struggling so much here! Because he's trying to make it better, trying to make Mike feel better so it wouldn't feel so awkward. (But little does he know that he was trying to comfort Mike about the wrong thing)

Mike wasn't even really looking for comfort or reassurance really, now that I think about it. I think he was just trying to express his thoughts about El and their relationship. All he said was that it was "dumb luck" that he found her in the forest, and probably after the "fight you can't come back from" he was starting to realise that him and El just really aren't meant for each other.

He wasn't even the one to say that he was scared of losing El, Will was.

Will hated that Mike was trying to apologise for expressing his feelings, which is why he decided that that was the right moment to give Mike his painting!

But what's interesting to me here is the "they lock eyes part" I don't know why, but it seems so intimate. Why would they need to hold eye contact for Mike to just agree with what Will said? I don't know about y'all, but if someone else finished my sentence for me I would avoid all eye contact and just nod quickly. Talking about feelings is never easy and staring into someone's eyes just doesn't make sense. I think Mike wanted to say something else here, but then Will asked if he could show him something, and he just didn't want to interrupt him.

I don't think Mike is scared of losing El, because he knows in someway, that he already has, and he was coming to terms with it in the van until Will gave him the painting saying it was from El.

But gosh damn if Mike isn't head over heals for Will, then I don't know what the hell this is.

"His face can light up a room" this was mike's reaction when he thought that Will painted this for him, and I love that we finally got a little look inside Mike's head! (Even though it's just him not being able to stop gushing about the painting lmao)

But what pains me is Wills inner thoughts. "Act cool." and "No! Don't look at him. Focus on your words."

I'm going to cry, this boy is so in love with Mike wheeler that he can barely contain his emotions and has to look away from him to be able to talk- well, lie. He knew he wouldn't be able to lie about El if he didn't look away because of the look of adoration that Mike had on his face and I think I'm gonna cry again Will is so selfless oh my god

(And I love that they showed Jonathan here as well, because now we know for sure that Jonathan knew that Will was lying, and it makes that scene in the pizza place so much more sweet)

I thought this was going to be an extremely busy two months for me at work and it mostly has been, but so I've been playing a lot of games lately to decompress when I get home. I went from Alan Wake 2 (which is exactly my kind of thing, at least aesthetically-- I just thought that was a really neat game) to Spider-man 2, which... and I liked Spider-man 1 fine, but the sequel somehow feels different / worse...

Spider-man 2 is a celebration of the one thing that makes Spider-man great to the designers-- which is of course, hang-gliding. Who can think of Spider-man without thinking about hang-gliding? Not whoever made Spider-man 2.

But then the weird part is inbetween all the hang-gliding, every single character talks like a 2015 Joss Whedon acceptance speech for an award for feminism (I'm not sure which one, he won many, but). Everyone's trying to sound hip but in a way that feels very much written by someone who's online too much, and on like the YA parts of the internet. Which I don't remember being true of the first game.

Spider-man listens to podcasts while he hang-glides, as you do when you're bored with your life (me, hang-gliding Spider-man, guys who work late night security, people who need to buy mattressess, murder-afficianados-- we're all podcast listeners). And the people on the podcasts will talk in this weird tone that's somewhere between Xeni Jardin saying "Homie what set you from" and a NPR host telling you about new developments in fiber supplements... One of the podcasters started rambling about the importance of hydration and doing mental health at one point. I... thought we would be ... fighting supervillains...???

And then inbetween the podcasts, the game is like "Do you want to be Miles Morales from the entertaining Spiderverse movies? Except in our game, Miles Morales is not on an entertaining adventure at all-- he spends all of his time learning valuable lessons about civic pride and the importance to NYC's vibrant food scene of immigrants honoring their roots. It's so important for immigrants not to forget where they came from while also feeling welcome to teach us about the spices they brought with them to their new home in the United States."

There was one level where Miles Morales helps high school kids take photos for a yearbook, and the game says "now go take photos of the high school's eSports team-- you know, a job for Spider-man." So I say, okay, what do those kids look like? And the game yelled "they look like everyone else, it's wrong to judge people based on how they look! This isn't that kind of game! We're a post-looks society, you fool!" And I was like oh okay, now I have to run around a large high school campus taking photos of random children in the hopes they might be gamers within a game, so I can complete this "mission", which... I don't think that's something you want to encourage gamers to do!! Stay away from the high schools, gamers!

The character Venom showed up and told me he was trying to get the corporation he was in charge of to do diversity when it hires people. Is that... is that from the comics?? I didn't read those comics, so I'm not sure. It's not even what they're saying though-- it's that it all just sounds so inauthentic to how people talk. It just all seems like a goody-goody lecture that will never end. I'm sure it's heart is in the right place, but it's just not well crafted.

It's just not really the experience I expected to be having (but it's been a strange month generally). And as a game, it's not fun at all, so far (even though the first game, which was the exact same thing, was fun-- go figure). The fighting just feels bad. It's nearly been voted like Game of the Year, though. So I guess I'm in the minority on this one. But if Spiderman 2 has taught me anything, it's that being a minority means I can contribute to NYC's juggling scene, and make real contributions that honor the past... while also pointing the way to the future. Time to juggle! Get me some bowling pins!

howard really fascinates me! specially since i keep trying to match the fun, bubbly 40s howard with the serious, detached howard from the 80s/90s. like what happened that changed him so much??

also the fact that bucky ends up killing him also captivates me cause bucky is steve's best friend, howard even helped him rescue him in the first movie, howard was obsessed with steve.... like his whole life AND death ended up being connected to steve

Same! I mean, of course the grief/mourning/regret/guilt Howard feels over Steve is a large part of his initial descent, but I suspect building and being in SHIELD took a heavy toll. Mildly long post incoming, probably incoherent, probably off topic, and it might end as the most disjointed character analysis I've ever done, but walk with me here 🤝🏿

Howard is such a fractured character. Like, he knows when he's doing something wrong, and he feels a seemingly significant (although hidden) amount of guilt when it goes wrong and he works to rectify it...but he just doesn't stop, especially if the outcome is worth it. He's a very "the ends justify the means" kind of guy I suspect. And there's nothing worse when the ends end up having a horrible outcome and the means were done in vain.

A normal person would say, "Hm, maybe I shouldn't do xyz anymore, or at least not the the degree I've been doing it, if it all ends in shit." Howard goes, "Actually let me keep all my bad ideas as proof of what I can do and shouldn't do and then go experiment more because I know I can do better." And then it doesn't go better and just gets added to a vault. And then, separate from his internal issues, the world around him is shifting too and to bring some stability, he needs to make some sacrifices. Someone needs to get their hands dirty - if not him, then who? And then all that mixed with the ghost of Steve hovering over him, knowing he'd disprove, but Steve isn't here so oh well.

I don't want to paint Howard as an altruist. He isn't, not in the slightest, in fact. All of his motivations are deeply personal and most likely not done for some abstract greater good. I don't think Howard is some kind of heartless monster - actually he decisively isn't heartless judging by MCU canon. He wants to do good (and he has!), but he doesn't let that desire to be good take him away from his desire to be free to do whatever he wants.

I have more to say about him (specifically about his upbringing - the reveal that he came from a poor family and feels compelled to make up for that was huge to me) but I'm losing words rn LOL and nothing else will make sense. I wish there was a voice note feature...I could probably just yap about it....Anyways, yes, Howard is one of my favorite trash gremlin characters.

And you are ALSO so right about not only his life, but his death being wrapped up in Steve too!! And wasn't he also keeping an attempted replica of the serum in his car for transfer? Or did I make that up lol. Either way, fully agree - you kinda blew my mind a little with bringing that to attention.

it's obvious what they are to anyone with even the slightest familiarity with such a thing. damage done by an angry, miserable kid who was struggling to exist with no support, who had no better outlet for all the pent up emotions that were in desperate need of release. a kid who was just trying to survive without really knowing why.

lena's seen their scars before. —not these ones, at least not this close, but others. there's always been some feeling of vulnerability in allowing her to see them, but it's always been a feeling that's relatively easy to brush aside, or to act like it simply isn't there. this, though... this is different. these are the marks they're most protective of, the ones which reveal too much to allow them to be shared — more so even than those gained from the people who were supposed to protect them in the past.

these scars share a clear story. one which can't be believably reshaped into something else like the rest of those which mar their body. to allow someone to see them is to allow that person a glimpse of the darkest time in their life.

the urge to tear their arm free of her light grasp is sharp and intense, fuelled by equal parts panicked fear and defensive anger. it's quite an audacious move, to begin so openly inspecting such obviously sensitive scars, and were this anyone else, they'd have earned themselves a punch square to the side of the head. ...but this is lena. lena, who they know holds no malice in her actions, who has seen much worse of them and never judged. that doesn't make it easy, to let her in on something they hold so closely to their chest, particularly when they haven't offered that information, but... it makes them a little more okay with the result.

after the passing of another moment or two in silence, byan quietly tugs their arm free, pulling it close to fold over their lap. anxiously, they lick their lips, nerves vibrating beneath their skin as they try to come to terms with being so seen. comfortable as they might be around lena, they've never been able to handle such emotionally charged silence particularly well. they need to say something, now, before the urge to run becomes overpowering.

I have list of issues with the whole gojo situation tbh, I am mostly confused and I this point with so much discussion around him, I got tired and confused XD his relationship with megumi is one of the things that leaves me a bit bitter and confused.

I see, I thought the same thing, it doesn't make sense for ke jaku to switch bodies right now.

Gojo techniques is cool and all, but it doesn't have the reach Geto's have. It would also make everything uo until now a big ass waste of time.

But I do think that they should dispose of gojo's body the right way, just in case XD and everyone else who might die tbh.

I got the feeling that while kenjaku is not much of a fighter, he is really good at it as if he does not quite enjoy fighting, just does it to keep doing whatever he is doing at the moment.

It'd've been fun if Yorozu's gift was a double edged sword. I reread 237 and it's said there that the weapon is her gift, I forgot about it because I forgot to read the chapter in order after the leaks. I love the leaks but they are fragmented and it messes with my understanding and memory.

I'm sure Maki will be brought in at some point but it's hard to say in which fight, she'd be an asset in any of the fights.

If I had to bet on some body swapping action with Yuuji's soul powers, I honestly would see him more switching himself into Megumi's body and getting Megumi into his own. One that's not transformed into a 4 armed behemoth, one that would likely be easier to reform. And like Sukuna can't be left unsupervised in a separate body. Sukuna needs a jailer and Yuuji is the only one who knows how to do that.

I've discussed Gojou so much recently that seeing him irks me at this point XD So I get you.

Also yeah, Kenjaku isn't one to choose a physical fight as a way to win but they will fight if they have to, and they do have skills.

And lastly I'm always happy to chat with fellow Sukuna enjoyers. He's an awful man with a hot 4-armed body and 2 lovely sexy smiles. I really like him as a thirst object but also as an antagonist. He has a fun personality for an antagonist.

I'm really curious for more Yuuji and Sukuna interactions, I really want to see Yuuji getting under his skin, messing with his beliefs and his self-image. He's done so much emotional and psychological damage to Yuuji, yet at the same time Yuuji never yielded to Sukuna, never cowered, never admired him. It'd be funny to see Sukuna yield. See Yuuji prove once and for all that his soul is stronger in every respect.
