Idk if I've said it yet but I actually really dislike cql sjxkd I watched all 50 episodes (yes. I know.) And okay OKAY I'll admit that all my beef with the live action drama is plot changes.

Changing/censoring bc queer content is sketch in China? Fair!! Amazed with how much they were able to get through bc wangxian is sooo heavily implied I kiss them

Adding extra plot elements that undermine some of the core elements of the original story for ??? Reasons? Stop!! Please!!!!! I hate it I hate it what do you fucking mean the yin iron what do you MEAN Wen Rohan is practicing demonic cultivation and raising corpses á la Yiling Laozu (who rn is just a lil guy. A silly teenager) what are you TALKING ABT adding these?? Erroneous elements??? When Wei Wuxian is literally the FOUNDER of a sort of proper demonic cultivation he's the Grandmaster of that shit why does he have to be so heavily in Wen Rohan's crazy shadow ｡ﾟ(*´□`)ﾟ｡ the point is not that he and Wen Rohan did the same things and that's why ppl hated him the POINT was that he was not only sympathetic to the Wen refugees but that he was practicing a dark art that could make him rise to potentially greater power than the man who nearly (sort of) conquered all of the great sects!!!! The fear of the unknown on little knowledge!!!!!!!! They saw wwx raise corpses first to win the Sunshot Campaign and heralded him as a hero only as long as it suited their interests before turning their backs on him!!!

There is infinitely more for me to be snobby abt sjxjskdj but that's probably the main grievance. After that it's smaller things where I'm like ah!!! So close to what I wanted but then they did. Something else for some reason

Okay one more thing sjxk ik it's a case of wwx having only one actor but just giving him a mask as Mo Xuanyu THAT'S SO FUCKING FUNNY HES JUST STRAIGHT UP THE YILING LAOZU UNDER THERE LIKE SIRR (ik it's also part of plot changes bc Mo Xuanyu iirc was an effeminate gay man i.e. the makeup wwx wakes up in in the books + yeah mxy was a cutsleeve)

Anyway the costumes the music the acting and plenty of individual scenes are SO GOOD I'm just a salty bitch subjected to more than 50% of fic being made by cql-onlys or ppl who prefer cql and I'm in my corner of ue that's not the canon I personally subscribe to but for the god tier fic I will do A Lot

Anyway final note cql is actually really good (is still a c drama and the way they film those is really funny to me I can't take a lot of serious scenes. Seriously. ALSO THE FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY IS SOO HILARIOUS like some of it looks cool but I can also see the actors being strung along by wires to do all this dramatic fighting and jumping and honestly I love it like they are so obviously being dragged backwards and lifted by harnesses. Perfection I love practical effects idc how silly they look)

Hey, I recently got back into writing drarry. I never really found a community on here (or anywhere 😅) to share that writing with, get encouragement, maybe a beta or some help with difficult scenes - anything. Do you have any advice?

I have a very stressful work schedule, so being online/replying everyday is hard for me. Maybe that is necessary to find people?

Hi my friend! Thank you for reaching out! I'd apologize for my slowness in responding, but maybe that's a perfect answer to your question. The short answer is: you're welcome here, with whatever time you have to share. We all have robost lives offline, and some spend more and less time around online than others. You're welcome here, even when you can't be online every day or be as responsive as some other folks might be.

In terms of practical advice, here are a few thoughts:

join the large 18+ Drarry discord (invite here). You can find beta readers and cheerleaders there (that's where I found my first when I didn't know anyone). I also like "sprinting" (writing in short, timed bursts, while other people write their own projects) as a way to build a little bit of community. EDIT: new link here

Post on tumblr when you can -- you could put out a call for betas here too. I'd also just suggest interacting when you can, reblogging other people, asking when ask games come up, joining in for open tag games, whenever you see them. Of course, when you're on less frequently some of these will pass you by, and that's okay -- just do them when you can and when they feel like fun.

Don't be afraid to jump into someone's messages or askbox to say hello. Mine is always open, as long as you're okay with a snail's pace of responses. I know that can be intimidating, but people around here are generally very kind and welcoming, and willing to say hello to new people.

Comment on fics and art, if/when you have the spoons. It's a great way to become more visible with active authors -- you could also ask authors or artists or reccers about their published projects to start up a conversation.

Share your writing and your interests! Whether in snippets, or in little anecdotes, or by reblogging things that feel connected to it and saying so in the tags or comments. It's much easier for other folks to engage with *you* if they have something they can ask about!

A couple other little tips I have found useful as I've grown less active in the past months: don't feel like you need to apologize for inactivity -- we all have lives, use the queue function on tumblr to space out your posts during times when you're not as active, ask folks what they're working on & they'll often turn it back to you, at times when you have more time to spare, offer help to others and they'll often offer it back... and so on!

Blog update

Hi, everyone! I hope the holidays are treating you well. I'm doing okay.

For those of you that missed my announcement, or didn't see my previous pinned post, I wanted to quickly clarify what's going on. You might have noticed that I didn't answer your ask. I'm sorry about that.

I'm stepping down from writing meta and sharing my thoughts on recent manga events, on the fandom, on expectations/predictions for the series, and on any hot topic being discussed by other meta bloggers and doing the rounds in the villain standom. Basically, don't expect me to engage with much meta anymore. I'm taking a break for an indefinite amount of time because I find this fandom too hostile currently; since my anxiety is triggered by any tension, be it real or the product of my brain contemplating a fear and running with it, I have to disengage and just focus on myself. I hope you'll understand.

What does this mean for this blog?

Meta and asks are normally a huge portion of the contents of this blog. Most of you probably followed me for those. And let's be real, meta is my passion so it will likely resume at some point. Idk when that will be, tho. Maybe I'll wake up next week and be relaxed or uncaring enough to brave the thought of diving back into the disk horse pool, maybe it will be in a couple of months, maybe I will switch to another fandom entirely. I don't know yet.

In the meantime, please know that I will most likely not respond to anything meta-related or any ask that expresses frustration, negativity, disappointment or anything in that vein, be it a comment on the series or a request to comment on the takes floating around the fandom.

You're still welcome to drop by my askbox with anything else if you feel like it. I'm keeping it open because I do like chatting to people, and I'm too socially awkward for dms. I'm just trying to limit my chances of ending up being the target of someone writing an essay about why Take X or Y is wrong. There's been a lot of those lately, and they stress the fuck out of me.

Hello, I'm smokingtiger, a chronically ill college student in their twenties studying linguistics and the Korean language. I think I'm most well known on this platform as someone who gives their unsolicited opinion on all things bangtan and bangtan ship discourse. I've been a fan of BTS since 2015 so I have seen this fandom in all of its most vibrant moments. I am a major defender against toxic solos because I ride and die for all seven members of BTS, so slander against any of them will not be tolerated!

I don't subscribe to any particular pairing but I am not someone who hates rps! Usually, I just like to give an outsider/neutral point of view on certain pressing questions that this fandom has towards certain events, so that's what I'd considered to be the biggest chunk of this blog.

Feel free to shoot me an ask about any particular pairing/fandom event and I'll try to evaluate it. I'll be your personal ship therapist, so if you just want to wax poetry about why you think something is the way that it is, come and do it in my askbox. I do have a busy schedule so it does take me a bit to get from ask to ask.

All shippers welcome (but at this point, most of the people at my front doorstep are taekookers and jikookers. You guys are like cute little stray cats paying me a visit)

I typically do not address things/images leaked by sasaengs unless they become incredibly widespread and/or relevant to what I'm talking about. I try my best not to spread things like that and/or promote material posted by stalkers; think of it as outside evidence not properly submitted to a court.

If you leave a heated ask in my inbox and it contains information I have previously addressed, I really won't take your anger seriously; I'm someone who gives little care to outbursts unless there's actual merit to the conversation. I just think that if you take the time out of your day to write something lengthy like that, you can also take the time to check my previous asks or tags using the very useful Tumblr search option on my profile. I think that would be best to clear up any chance of miscommunication, because nine times out of ten, some of my angry anon questions or concerns have already been answered and/or addressed.

Also if you want to ask me something privately, just let me know that you want to start a DM, I have no qualms with that.

And as a final reminder: this page is primarily ship neutral, but if you get confused by the occasional ship post from me, it's usually surrounding aus. I write; it's a hobby of mine that I've been trying to get back into after years of illness plaguing me. I've explained that I don't necessarily think that any ship in BTS is 'real' and that I'm not rooting for any particular pairing -- but I do engage in the creative 'shipping' aspect of the fandom, so expect some fic and au posts. And yes, as a writer, I do favor certain ships (mostly due to the dynamics), but like I said, I'm not cheering for them or praying for the downfall of another. When it comes to legitimate points outside of the creative zone, I treat them all equally. I'm somewhat mentally stable... Just somewhat.

Extra additions:

My character(s) will remember yours based on their previous interactions. Their opinions and attitude towards your character will depend on how they interact. If it's their first time interacting, they won't know your character.

None of my muses are a self-insert in any way. If they react negatively to something, it's not me the one to fix things with. We can talk things out, but nothing will get fixed in the OOC chat.

There's no need to tone your character down or cheese it up if that's not their way of acting!

Keep godmodding to a minimum (to describe a situation, scenario, setting if you must), or avoid it altogether. Please do not add my character's reactions or dialogue in your input.

Please avoid metagaming altogether. My characters will not react nicely to someone knowing information they never told them.

Warnings

As I said before, the darker themes you may find usually include violent content. Naturally, it's not the only kind of writing I do, nor the most usual, but it's something to have in mind. This applies mostly to Scarlett's story, but it can be in dark RP as well.

You may find: different displays of sadism, including torture, physical and verbal abuse, psychological and emotional manipulation, etc.

There are also topics regarding slavery, contemplation of death, and dark mindsets in general.

My main muse is a Ghoul, so things involving gore, cannibalism and insanity may be present too.

Rhiannon is a very deranged character, so don't be surprised if she finds joy in those disturbing situations.

In a less violent way (maybe), it can apply to NSFW too.

For interactions involving any of these topics, I require chatting OOC to make sure we're both okay with what we're writing in order to avoid any issues. I'll use the read more tool if needed and the community labels for NSFW threads.

My personal limits include incest, pedophilia, pregnancy, non-consensual sexual activities and animal abuse. Meaning that I will not write any of my characters explicitly performing or going through any of those situations.

Regarding the previous point, I personally don't have any hard triggers, only things that I'm better off not engaging with.

Important! If we are interacting and something on my end upsets or triggers you, by all means let me know! Please don't keep it to yourself, I could be overlooking it by accident. Talk to me and we'll solve it!

Communication is key! I'm aware that people have their specific triggers, and I'd appreciate it if they let me know when that's the case, as I will do the same. I don't want to harm anyone with the things I write.

Lastly, I strongly believe that fiction is and stays fictional. Writing certain content does not equal encouraging it in reality, and I will not use this to actively harm anyone or promote any ideas in any way. Again, if you don't like it, block tags or unfollow me and move on.

(I personally wouldn't expect people to go back and edit posts or messages even if they misgendered ME, a real actual person) Mistakes happen sometimes. You didn't know, and now you do. You promised to use the correct pronouns moving forward and that's all i think anyone could reasonably ask of you. You're well within your rights to block users or close your askbox or stop engaging or take a break or whatever else you need in order to exercise your own boundaries or feel comfortable on your blog. I'm looking forward to this tournament and I really hope this doesn't dissuade you from continuing it, but I'll understand if it does

I think if we can't talk about both sides of being an untraditional pronouns users, then we can't ever make progress as a community. But I know where I'll draw the line if this discussion doesn't go the way I wanted.

Introduction Post!

Hello everyone! Nice to meet you, you can call me roomie.

I've noticed living in college that a few rules of thumb tend to go unnoticed. As an autistic person myself, I understand how easy it is for little, unspoken courtesies to go unnoticed if you're never told of them, so I'm here to offer a judgement-free, non-condescending resource for people to learn and discuss what you need to know for college.

I'm here to write some advice from my perspective on how to live with a college roommate, as an American college student. I'm 22, trans male, with three years now of dorming experience under my belt, here to let y'all know what I've learned.

My askbox is always open for advice, stories, or just saying hi!

Also, I'm just some guy! I might be wrong, or I might say something you disagree with. And that's okay! These are all just coming from a place of my personal experiences. The best way to work things out with a roommate is direct communication wherever possible.

That said, welcome to the blog! A few ground rules;

-Please bear in mind I'll only answer questions I feel I can comfortably give advice on, so please don't take it personally if I don't answer your question. If you are in a place of crisis and desperately need support, please reach out to a loved one, therapist, hotline- whichever is most comfortable for you.

I'm not sure that this is what this thing is for but I just wanted to say that "Sweet Dreams, Princess" is one of my top five fanfictions of all time, and I really appreciate all the effort you put into it :D One of the best parts of it is how you include smell in your descriptions, really brings it to life for me. Also since you just followed, you probably didn't see this post from a few months ago, but it's the first 1500 words of the next chapter if you're interested! Feel free to ignore me if you already saw it tho lol

Anyway, I read fanfic in late middle school/early high school, but I never really engaged with fandom otherwise and just kind of forgot about it. I wrote original content throughout high school and went to college for screenwriting, but then had a very bad bout of depression which made me stop writing altogether. And then, BotW happened to me. I finished it, cried for 45 minutes, and immediately went to ao3 because I needed more. I got super nostalgic for the fics I'd read in my teens (though tbh it was mostly inappropriate stuff. oh to be young and unsupervised on the late-2000s internet hjghjdf) But it was the first time in a long time that I wanted to write and actually had ideas! SDP made me feel like I could write again or that I was even "allowed" to write again and rekindled that love-hate relationship for writing for me. So my little insomniacs will always have a special place in my heart no matter how much I've neglected them.

And I did!! OoT was one of my first video games! It was my aunt's n64 so I'd play with my cousin and my sister, and the rule was we could do whatever we wanted as long as we didn't save lol We were all under 7 so we didn't do much besides fly around with the cuccos or chase the dogs at nighttime or go fishing, but we played it for hours. And five year old me had the biggest crush on Adult Link, in all his polygonal glory sdfggdf I actually own that n64 and game cartridge now with her save file still intact, and I get extremely sentimental every few years I boot it up to replay and see her name in the second save slot. I also played all the 3D games throughout my life, though I've never finished WW or MM (...I know. Don't look at me like that 😩)

Honestly, relating to your WoW/FFXIV post, I wonder if the 'great community, by the way' thing only has become what it has because the influx of WoW players? I hope it stops because acting like everyone in XIV is a perfect saint is only going to upset people even more if someone is even slightly less positive in game. I don't know I hope the whole WoW vs FFXIV stuff dies down, even Yoshi-P had to basically say 'shut up, WoW is what we want XIV to be, and we'll never even touch the heights WotLK had.' I just think if Blizzard hadn't been ousted as a bunch of sexual abusers it wouldn't be this extreme, like trashing WoW is kind of 'slacktivism' in a way. Sorry this is so long you're just the only person I've followed that did the WoW -> XIV jump and you haven't really done the extreme 180 everyone else has, and I think you have good opinions on things. Also I hope you have a good day :)

I will put a 'read more' because I do get into a bit in detail for this ask.

I personally do get a bit tired of the costant ffxiv and wow comparison and debate too. That's why I sometimes make fun of it in a light way, and make jokes or memes about it, but also keep to myself when debates come out and people start complaining or piling up discourse over discourse. I'm just glad to enjoy my game and see people enjoying it too, that's enough for me. I honestly don't have the patience or age to withstand game discourse anymore lmao.

I completely understand why people would want to switch games because of the recent Blizz horrifying actions, the fact that the game apparently hasn't been fun or well curated in a long time, or just for funsies and switching things up. I'm absolutely not complaining about the switch in games, if anything, I'm glad people are giving other games a chance. But I am a bit tired about the costant comparison, discourse, and millions of videos essays where people try to defend wow (as if you needed to defend a game you like... you can enjoy that game, period, and not create wars over it), or people making huge ffxiv against wow essays. Like I said some months ago, I studied the whole 'wow effect' for my thesis years ago for my Uni degree and I don't plan to go back at studying the phenomenon cause I just don't care about it anymore, to be honest.

I think sometimes people are just way too over protective of things they care about, like games, and when change occurs they react with panic and overprotection over something they can't control - people migrating over games, new influx of players, etc - instead of seeing the whole thing as something of a natural process all games and popular media are subject to. Like, imagine how bad things would be for every game or media if stuff NEVER changed. Especially for MMOS, that's a death sentence. And you don't want that for your favourite game. Even WOW suffering player loss might be a good thing in the end, it might force the companies to rethink their approach to games and community, since a lot of problems laid in there.

I played my fair share of WOW during my Uni years. I played for around 3 years or something, on and off with friends irl and online, and enjoyed my experience. Overall, I still have very good memories of fun and friendship in WOW, and it's a game I still like aesthetically a lot, along with its story and fantasy races. Hell, sometimes I think about how much I miss my WOW ocs, and drawing WOW related stuff.

But I don't think my relationship to WOW was as intense as some people's - I did transition from WOW to FFXIV, but I spent something like 2 years when I stopped playing WOW (I started in mists of pandaria, stopped around the beginning of battle for azeroth times) playing almost no videogames. So it wasn't like I switched from a game to the other immediately, I think mine was more of a timed and organic switch, I didn't start playing FFXIV until quarantine hit and I had nothing to do (and was feeling really bad and needed a distraction from the imminent doom), and I also got my new desktop computer knowing I could start playing a new game comfortably, and not on a toaster-like computer like I was doing during the WOW days. (computer shutting down due to overheating mid-raid, it was fun)

So maybe the fact that I didn't do the 180 turnaround switch like some other WOW players is what makes the difference in attitude and thinking. When I started playing FFXIV, I didn't have WOW fresh in my mind so I could do costant comparisons between the two games, or my affection towards WOW kinda like... influencing my taste, or opinion of the new game in any way.

WOW was a good memory but nothing more. I never forged a huge relationship with the game anyway, so it's probably what's different between me and other players that maybe (understandably) have more history with it. I engaged with it, liked it for a game I could spend some free time on, and then moved on when I got bored with it. That's kinda it. I understand that some people who have been playing for way more years than me might have a more affectionate memory or relationship with WOW, and that might be something that influences their reasoning sometimes. But it's also a bit of a common thing withing some communities like WOW- something that people could definitely abandon and move on, change attitude. Time and game change. There's no point in getting stuck in the past with the old WOW glory days, and that kind of sentiment- we're not getting back in time, and change should always be something to be embraced, especially in games and MMOS. Changing views, games and opinions is the base of not getting stuck in the same state of mind and I highly encourage people to do it.

As for the ‘critiquing WOW has become super extreme and almost like it’s a rule’... I mean... yeah? That’s the effect that often times ‘problematic’ things have on large crowds of people online. It’s to be expected, but it doesn’t come from nothing- a lot of bad things piled up in the game, the company, the community and their attitude- and it just so happened some things tipped the waters over and everything came out in a costant flow during the past year or so. But it doesn’t come from nothing- it’s just a result of people being genuinely critic of the game they engaged with, which is something good to do.

So yeah, I appreciate the ask! I like hearing from people that follow other games too and may have experiences similar to mine, and I'm also grateful that you've been following me from so many years since I was playing WOW, to now.

That said... I would like to keep asks like these to a minimum. I enjoyed this ask because it gave me a point of inspiration to think about my journey from games, and the chance of talking about something I care about (and I would like to think I know something about too, degree and experience and all...), but I don't plan to respond to more comments or asks that might move towards a more 'discoursy' tone of this same "ffxiv and wow" topic. I do enjoy asks like these but you can't count on everyone making a good and civil argument when asking questions, so I do have to keep a firm hand on asks and topics sometimes, or people get rowdy and think my tumblr blog is the new reddit. It has already happened with some people coming to my askbox to complain about shit I genuinely couldn't care less about. That will just get your question deleted, go to reddit if you want to complain or fuel the flames. I'm just here to vibe.
