Director commentary? On dalliance or insect and pyre?
Your choice on which one or both?
Dalliance accidentally rewrote my brain chemistry and how I write Shigaraki because I came up with backstory for him in that story that I still haven't published yet and made it my fanon for his character. Like every story set in the main universe after I published the first chapter of Dalliance has echoes of that headcanon in it and I STILL haven't shared it yet because we're not there yet in that story. OOF.
As for Insect and Pyre, man oh man did I love writing that one. I don't really get to use a lot of floaty more poetic language when writing for Shigadabi because I don't think that it fits either of the characters. But getting to take them out of a semi-contemporary setting and put them into a fantasy setting let me have a lot of fun with that story and treat it more like a fairytale. I know that a lot of people have specific favorite lines and scenes ("Do you want to be roses?", "I won't touch your ashes," both were shouted out when that fic first was posted) but my favorite scene, and one that I think really showcased how lonely and hopeless that Shigaraki was in that cave, was the scene with the bunnies where he made two just so they wouldn't have to be alone. TT^TT

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. spread the self-love ❤
Thanks for thinking of me, nonnie 🥰 This was actually a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, picking 5?? It was a good excercise in remembering I actually do like a lot of my past catalogue lmfao
The summaries got kinda long and I also wanted to do a little commentary on each so I'm gonna put the full post under a cut but the short list is:
Singularity (Shigadabi)
i've looked for love in every stranger (to get to you) (Sylvix)
Hello, My Name Is Human (Odazai)
Divinity (Matchablossom)
Blur (Sheith)
Singularity | ShigaDabi | General
Alpha Arietis dies in a brilliant storm, spraying billions of years’ worth of accumulated gas and matter through the cosmos as it collapses in on itself. Great fingers of dust reach toward the endless abyss, and cradled in the palm of the cooling nebula, a godling sleeps. His heart is white-hot and aching, all the pain of his progenitor’s end pulsing through him as he curls in on himself. The gazes of the other gods weigh heavily on him as the universe swims into focus. Their whispers ripple across galaxies to wash over his still-tender form, awakening in him an anger that beams into the darkness as his eyes open, twin crimson spheres cutting through the endless night.
This was such a fun style experiment!! I wrote it for a zine and it was by far the shortest fic bc I decided to go with the dialogue-less option; it felt better suited to the space vibe.
I looked up so many astronomy facts for this too, which was fun bc I'm a bit of a space bitch (even though I probably fucked it all up for the ~narrative~ lmao). Did you know! Beta Capricorni, one of the stars in Capricorn (Dabi's sign and mine - we share a birthday, and it is my favorite BNHA factoid), is commonly known as Dabih, derived from an Arabic legend saying Beta Capricorni and Alpha Capricorni, aka Algedi, were "the lucky stars of a slaughterer."
I really really want to dive further into the concept of gods being birthed from dying stars at some point - there's so much I didn't get to in this fic just bc of limits and themes and such, but I think it's fucking cool even if it's not popular.
i've looked for love in every stranger (to get to you) | Sylvix | Explicit
“Yeah. Listen, Fe, I’m sor—” “Don’t,” Felix says. When Sylvain opens his mouth to protest, Felix cuts him off. “Seriously, don’t. I don’t want your apologies.” Sylvain arches a brow. “I just want you—” (And oh, those words on their own are nearly enough to unwind that barbed wire, but somehow it hurts worse knowing it’s not what Felix really means.) “—to be better.” Felix takes a deep breath, turns to the kitchen counter, and fiddles for a second too long with the tabs on the pizza boxes. “I hate watching you hurt yourself.”
Man, where do I start with this one. I picked at this fic for over a year and a half before deciding to finish it for a bang, and I'm so happy about how it turned out. One theme that shows up a lot in my writing is "love is an action and a choice," and I think this fic showcases that beautifully.
Sylvain's so fucked up here and I love him so much. This timestamp from the middle of a breakdown and subsequent guilt about said breakdown just...really hits home. And Felix being there - CHOOSING to remain there - through that one and all previous ones? clenches fist They're in love, your honor.
I just think it's important to show that being kind of a shitty person doesn't preclude you from being loved, nor should it.
Hello, My Name Is Human | Odazai | Mature
“No need for sorry,” Oda says, the words automatic. “That’s not your place.” It’s the wrong thing to say, comes out nothing like he’d intended. Dazai flinches as though he’s been shot, curling up into himself and away from Oda before scrambling to his feet. There’s no easy grace in his movements today, only a quick, jerky retreat before Oda comes to his senses and darts after him. He wraps a hand around Dazai’s forearm to tug him back, and there’s nothing but rawness in Dazai’s eye when he turns around. “Let me go,” he says icily. “It’s not your place.”  “Dazai.” “Fuck off,” Dazai mutters, shrugging Oda’s hand away. “I’ll go die alone, then. In my place.” “Hey,” Oda says, soft as anything as Dazai’s turned half away. He holds his palms out, the same way he would for a stray or lost child. Dazai takes a shuddering breath. “I’m sorry,” he continues. “Your place-” “An executive doesn’t have a place,” Dazai says. “A weapon doesn’t need one.”
This was the spiritual precursor to in the morning i'll be with you, and upon rereading, I realized I wrote pretty much the same fic twice 😅 There's just something that hits EVERY time about softness in the face of bluntness about doing and wanting terrible things. I chose this one instead of in the morning because of one of the places the two fics diverge, actually.
In this fic, Oda actually says "I love you" to Dazai and Dazai does not take it well, and it feels important to me that not every I love you is received with an equally passionate "omg I love you too." But like I said for the Sylvix above, it's also important that it's expressed, even if it hurts or isn't received or reciprocated.
Divinity | MatchaBlossom | Explicit
“I don’t need anyone,” Kaoru whispers. He’s always been good at making bad decisions when it comes to Kojiro; this is another in a long line of failures and he’s not willing to admit yet that maybe Adam fucked him up past the point of no return. “It’s fine,” he mumbles when he hears Kojiro shifting. He’s too afraid to watch him walk away. “You can just go.” And instead of leaving, Kojiro shuffles forward and hugs him. Kaoru is surrounded by impossibly gentle arms and the scent of pine, and though he’s used to the latter, he hasn’t been touched like this in a long, long time. “I’m not going to go,” Kojiro says softly. His face is buried in Kaoru’s shoulder, lips warm where they brush across his skin. “I’d say sorry, but I’m not, Kaoru. I don’t want to.”
God this fic actually kickstarted my writing motor after being really burnt out and plateaued on skill for a while. While it's not my most technically skilled fic (I don't think any on this list are, tbh?), it was fun to write and it's still fun to read.
I loved being able to take a softer turn with Kaoru's anxiety as opposed to some of the harder mental health issues I'm used to expressing in my writing. And Matchablossom were really just out there on screen being Like That at all moments, huh? Their dynamic is just such a joy to play with, whether it's softer like this or harder like some of my other SK8 fics.
Blur | Sheith | Mature
“Everything I’ve done, everything I’ve made of myself, and it still isn’t enough. You know they always said shoot for the stars? I didn’t just shoot, Shiro, I helped save those stars. Where is there to go from there? There’s no coming back down to Earth after you’ve seen realities collapse around you. There’s no normal.” “It doesn’t need to be normal,” Shiro says. “I WANT normal!” Keith’s chest heaves, throat raw with the force of his insistence as his truth is birthed into the world. Twenty-five years’ worth of longing shake themselves loose from inside him and when they bleed out, so does his energy. He sinks to his knees, shaking as he repeats the words again and again. “I want normal. I want to be normal, Shiro, why can’t I be normal?”
This fic is just 9k of me bleeding my truth onto the screen, I'll be real (it should also be stated my self-destructive behaviors aren't physically harmful, that's artistic license). It hurt to write and it hurts to reread bc not much has changed in the years since I wrote it, but it's good, and I stand by the rawness of the narration. Dealing with a personality disorder and suicidal ideation (especially unmedicated and without therapy - bitches be rawdogging reality and I'm bitches) fucking blows. It's exhausting, and it makes you feel inhuman.
This scene especially knocked a few realizations loose for me, bc I don't remember writing it; my head just shut off, and then I looked at the page and went "ah. Oh dear. This feels like something I need to unpack, huh." And here we are, several years later, still unpacking lmao

📚 📖 📓📕📒📔📘📗📙
Lol
The joke's on you. I have a ton of these and I'm about to make it everyone's problem.
Put "📓" into my inbox and I'll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven't written but daydream about.
(I'm gonna cheat a little. The ones with * are ones that I have started writing, but are incomplete/have been WIPs for a long time/nowhere close to being done. I feel like that counts just because of the amount of daydreaming/not writing that goes into them lol)
(Also, if there is any that someone is particularly interested in reading once it's finished, just leave a reply and I'll reach out with a link once it's published!)
This is going to be a long post, so I'll put the answer under a read more!
📚 *
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Ships: ShigaDabi (primary), TodoDeku (background, maybe)
An AU where Tenko Shimura was found by Inko Midoriya instead of AFO and raised as Izuku's brother. He winds up becoming Hawks's secretary, meets All Might and learns about his grandmother, and gets to proudly watch his brother follow his dreams. Things start to change when he meets a strange man outside of a cafe and falls for him. How was he supposed to know that Dabi was a villain!? From there, Tenko has to do a lot of self reflection and decide what he wants to do after learning about his boyfriend's identity, especially when he found out that his boss had known all along. Does he chase after Dabi? Join him? Turn him in? I'm not 100% sure how I want to end this, but I am tempted for it to lead to the "birth" of Tomura. Any suggestions would be welcome!
📖*
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Ships: N/A, maybe background Duo Holders?
Essentially an AFO origin story focusing on his relationship with Yoichi over the course of his descent. I take a few snapshots of the brothers together, starting as teens and going through to his death, and showing how their regard for each other changed. It finally ends with AFO speaking to Yoichi's grave years later. I'm a fan of DFO, so I'm going to be using the name Hisashi for him, but if/when his canon name comes out, I'll be changing it to match!
📓
Fandom: Death Note
Ships: LawLight (primary), MattMello (secondary)
An AU where Roger Ruvie dies early on in the investigation and, with the entire world under suspicion, L can't afford to replace him. Instead, he sends the majority of the kids off to other houses that Watari had built, save for his top three successors. Near, Mello, and Matt all move into the Task Force HQ and, despite L's "best efforts" to prevent it (read: he's totally just pretending to stop them to please the others), they continually find themselves thrown in the middle of the investigation. I'm also not 100% certain how I want this to end, but I do know that it's going to be endgame L/Light and Matt/Mello.
📕*
Fandom: Bungo Stray Dogs
Ships: RanPoe (past), ODazai (past, platonic or romantic), SteinCraft (past, background)
A sequel to Unstoppable Force. I've had a few people express interest in the culprit, so I've decided to write up an optional sequal that explains it. I debated not doing it, but I know that a lot of people enjoy closure, so I thought it would be fun! I invented a new villain and a new ability and I found an excuse to drag some Guild members into it as well. Essentially, Ranpo reopens the case after the funeral and uses the strange behavior of Steinbeck to corner and catch the elusive ability user. I'm personally proud of the ability I created, so I'm going to keep it a secret for now.
📒*
Fandom: Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun
Ships: TeruKane (primary)
This one is actually based on a post that has since been deleted proposing the idea of a soulmate AU where the name of your soulmate is written on the inside of your book in the Four O'clock Library. I shook it up a bit and added the idea that if you read your soulmate's name, people will begin to forget they exist and you have to confess your love to them within a week or they will disappear from existence entirely. Akane didn't think it would be a problem to go and confirm his soulmate-- it's obviously Aoi-- only to discover a very different name written in his book. Knowing his time limit, he struggles to find a loophole in the curse that would help him avoid confessing a love he doesn't feel. In the meantime, people are slowly starting to forget who Teru Minamoto is, with Akane being the only one to remember, forcing them to spend even more time together. This one is going to have a happy ending, but it's going to be a really close call!
📔
Fandom: Robihachi
Ships: Robby/Hatchi (primary)
This is a sequel to Lovely that I've been playing around with. Someone expressed that they wanted to see how Robby's father would react to their situation and that got me thinking about it. In a misguided gesture of good faith, Hatchi's parents invite Robby's family up to the moon to help celebrate either his birthday or their first anniversary. Much to Robby's surprise, they agree to come, leaving him with an awkward mess of judgement to deal with until they leave. I still haven't decided how this will end, but I know it's going to be on either a positive or bittersweet note.
📘
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Ships: EraserMist (primary; may be romantic or platonic), Tomura/Touya (secondary)
Sequel to Purpose. Kurogiri and Tomura move in with that kind hero, Aizawa, after what happened in the alleyway. It takes a lot of getting used to, but it is leagues better than living out of a hotel. Kurogiri juggles working to obtain his hero license with raising Tomura (made easier with the new help) and investigates just why that hero seemed so familiar... Later on, when Tomura enters UA, he juggles making friends for the first time, proving his heroism despite his quirk, and a concerning new crush on the hot upperclassman.
📗
Fandom: Sk8 the Infinity
Ships: MatchaBlossom (primary), Renga (secondary), ShadOka (maybe)
This one is going to go through a week of after-hours visits at Sia la Luce. Each day, someone drops in while Joe is closing up, needing one thing or another. From relationship advice to a pleasant escape to pleas for forgiveness, Joe finds himself to be the center of all of their attention. It's just a collection of seven mini-stories that are all collected throughout the span of one week in-universe. Everyone is going to give Joe a visit for different reasons and I'm excited to see how it turns out!
📙*
Fandom: Bungo Stray Dogs
Ships: Shin Soukoku (primary), Soukoku (secondary), more potentially TBA
A fantasy AU in which Fukuzawa and Mori are the kings of two rival kingdoms, Ada and the Port Kingdom (I'll probably change the names lol). Fukuzawa has no genetic heirs, but he had taken in a number of wards, one of which will be chosen to succeed him. Mori has two children, and the prince was born with a terrible curse that leaves his reputation soaked in blood. Atsushi, one of Fukuzawa's wards, is also cursed and feels that Prince Ryuunosuke is just like him; that he can be saved with some kindness and compassion. Despite being warned not to, he sneaks out and attends a ball intended to find the prince a suitor. While there, he unknowingly defends the prince from a number of attackers, which, while unnecessary, piques Ryuunosuke's interest. The two run away together, but wind up being sidetracked by an advancing enemy and wind up lost. Chuuya, a knight from the PK, is sent by Mori to go and find his son. Dazai, Atsushi's mentor and ward of Fukuzawa, is sent to go and locate the weretiger after he does not come to breakfast in the morning. Chuuya and Dazai run into each other while searching for their respective people, which leads to them teaming up to find them while Atsushi and Ryuunosuke are trying their hardest not to be found.

do you have any fic recommendations? anything that's your favourite?
absolutely I do!! here's a couple of my favourites in alphabetical order (under a cut cause I'm about to go wild):
attempts at earning love | T | 9.1k
pairing(s): shigaraki/dabi, bakugou/todoroki
Dabi: hey
Dabi: this is
Dabi: me
Dabi: touya
Dabi: fuck, don’t call me that
Dabi: or do, it’s fine
Dabi: maybe i’ll get used to it
Shouto: how did you get this number
Dabi: don’t worry about it
Dabi: you won’t like the answer
Shouto: well that’s reassuring
---
A year after the war ends, Dabi and Shouto reconnect.
I will never stop raving about this fic - it's SO good, the characterization is beautiful, dabi plays the piano, I cried, it's just great
-
Blindside | T | 98k
pairing(s): bakugou/kirishima
“You’re the first guy friend I’ve had that I can just like, be friends with. You’re either the most unthirstiest boy ever...” Camie shrugged and made another wobbly illusion appear between her hands. It looked like a sparkly rainbow with the word ‘friendship’ beneath it, accompanied by what Bakugou assumed was supposed to be a twinkling sound effect, but it had a tinny quality to it and sounded far away. “...or I just ain’t got the kinda straw you like to ssssip.”
Carefully, Bakugou considered the strange turn this conversation had taken.
He had never been asked, point blank, if he was gay before. And he honestly had never thought about how he would respond. Lying about himself didn’t sit right with him. But he’d always wanted to wait until he was the number one hero - when he stood above everyone else - before coming out. Though he’d had times when he’d thought about doing it before then and had almost gone through with it once. But being the number one hero came first. It wouldn’t matter what people would say about it then as long as he’d risen to the top.
Bakugou knew his lack of a response would give Camie all the answers she needed.
THIS !!!!!!! such a good slow burn, the action sequences are AWESOME, plus it features bakugou/camie friendship which is my ultimate kryptonite
-
body of years (take it to your grave) | T | 3.7k
pairing(s): shigaraki/dabi
”Someone’s gotta make sure I stay on the straight and narrow, or whatever,” Tenko says, leaning down to detangle the laces of his sneakers. ”Since you aren’t doing the job.”
Touya scoffs from his seat at the table, soles of his feet balanced carefully against the edge of his chair. ”As if you were ever going to be on the straight and narrow.”
(or; the semi-ordinary lives of Dabi and Shigaraki, years after the end of the world).
I know I've raved about this fic before but it CONTINUES to blow me away - I reread it earlier this week and OOF. touya reads t. s. Eliot, tenko and izuku get lunch, once again I am crying
-
Candy Canes And Christmas Crackers | T | 104k
pairing(s): bakugou/todoroki
“So….your huge family somehow all think that you have a long term boyfriend and are insisting that you bring him to your week long Christmas family reunion?” Despite his efforts the end of his question raised in pitch as Kirishma swallowed down a giggle.
“How does that even happen?” Kaminari added popping some of the hashbrowns Bakugou made into his mouth.
-
OR your classic holiday romcom where Bakugou needs a fake boyfriend to bring home for Christmas and Todoroki is willing to take that bullet.
listen... I don't even like christmas fics but this one SERIOUSLY made me reconsider that opinion. it's got all the good fluffy family fun, fireworks, and fake dating you could ever want!
-
Hate Is a Strong Word | E | 5.1k
pairing(s): shigaraki/dabi
Shigaraki hates Dabi. That's why he wants to fuck him. But if he fucks him too hard, Dabi will break. Maybe if he gets creative, he can break Dabi in a less literal way.
AKA, Shigadabi can't have rough sex because of Shigaraki's quirk and Dabi's scars, so they proceed to have the most gentle hate sex known to man. But maybe hate is too strong of a word...
😃😃😃
-
history has its eyes on you | T | 16.6k
pairing(s): midoriya/todoroki, bakugou/kirishima, momo/jirou
Midoriya looked over the occupants of the room with butter soft eyes. “We should do this again. Seeing everyone in one place … it’s like we’re back in school again.”
Todoroki said, “It feels like a family reunion.”
-
(Social media fic, counting down the five months to Class 1-A's ten year reunion.)
SOCIAL MEDIA FICS MY BELOVED 💖 also, I've been following aloneintherain's stuff for years and they never disappoint - their writing is just incredible omg
-
Just Fucking Kill Me | E | 3.9k
pairing(s): shigaraki/dabi
“Gods I fucking h- hate you,” Tomura thrashes, entire body drawing taut like a bowstring as Dabi curls his fingers inside him. It’s good, it’s so good, and he’s not sure how he’s still breathing.
Dabi, on the other hand, looks as calm as can be, posture lazy and expression lazier. He’s not even looking at Tomura, eyes cast to the screen of the latest phone he’d ‘borrowed’ and scrolling through some pointless website. Tomura doesn’t give a fuck what he’s looking at, really, or if he’s talking to anyone, what he does care about is the fact that Dabi’s fingering him and not paying attention.
I have absolutely no excuse for this other than that it makes me Feel Things
-
safe & sound | T | 5.8k
pairing(s): bakugou/kirishima
“I don’t need a friendly face,” Bakugou says, purposefully sitting in the seat furthest from Kirishima.
“Okay, maybe not,” Kirishima says. He smiles. “But I made tea.”
protective kirishima owns my heart and soul <3
-
too much at stake but too late to change | T | 6k
pairing(s): bakugou/midoriya
After a sudden shift in weather turns a wilderness rescue test into a real emergency, Katsuki and Izuku take on a rainstorm, a mountain, and their own worse natures to make it out alive.
---
Katsuki let out another unsteady breath, but it was a laugh rather than a sob. “You’re a piece of shit.”
“A piece of shit that you carried down a mountain!” Izuku shot back cheerfully.
this is so short and yet I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it omggg whump fic my beloved 💖

Big brain anon(tm) I had this brilliant idea where Tomura and Re-Destro go to a bar and like. Now Tomura is just sitting at the bar, alone, while Re-Destro just doing whatever the fuck. Dabi just slides his way in and he tries so hard to talk to Tomura because honestly? He's not having a good time. He's only with Re-Destro for some amount of attention, but the relationship is really built on nothing. So Dabi asks him if he's alone, Tomura says no. Dabi asks who he's with and Tomura has to look through the crowd and points to a man in a suit, then Dabi is hysterical, like he's laughing and almost falls off the bar stool. "Wow. How old is he?" ".....45?" "Jesus. Do you have daddy issues?" And Tomura just scrunched his face up. This whole night is shitty and now this (hot) stranger is patronizing you, but Dabi makes it clear he's not making fun of him and he knows what its like. He doesn't bother asking him why they're "dating" because he has an idea. Dabi and Tomura keep talking and at this point, all the noise and scenery is nothing to them and it feels like it's just them two in the room. Eventually Tomura is swooned enough to go to Dabi's place. Listen, I don't ship Re-Destro with Tomura, but I just think this scenario would be funny as shit. Tomura just up and left with some guy and I'm really sure Re-Destro isn't having a breakdown per say, he's just standing there and moves on with his life. I'm writing this btw.
YES GOOD I WANT TO READ THIS!!! I’M EXCITED!!!
This is such a good idea aaaaah I love it so much!!! I actually really like ShigaDestro as a ship (arguably a cracky one) but shigadabi is the one true ship in my heart, so I really love how your idea kind of mix the two with shigadabi taking over (as they should). I often talk about sugar baby Tomura on this blog, sometimes just for thirst and sometimes just for laugh, but I also think that it works well as a character study, you know? It’s about the daddy issues, but also about the loneliness, and the difficulty to really connect with anyone ...
And so I loooove Dabi swooping him, and the two immediately having a connection because they just “get it”. That’s my favourite about shigadabi, they are so alike and went through similar things, so if they just talked to each other, they might hurt a little less.
Anyway, I’m getting carried away! But this is a great story and I’m very excited to read it as soon as you finish it!

Shigadabi Headcanons
(This is a l o n g b o i)
- Dabi is that annoying ass bf who uses corny lines just to piss Tomura off.
“What're u lookin at”
“Somethin handsome”
“>:(”
- Tomura's really ticklish. He just doesn't know what's going on.
- He's also really touchy
Not just cuz he's a touchy guy n really touch starved, but because he knows it actually makes Tomura feel more safe.
If Dabi just gets close and takes his shirt sleeve into his hand while they're crossing the street, it makes Tomura feel much more safe.
Tomura doesn't really trust himself despite what he tries to make himself think.
He doesn't like holding hands though. Even with gloves on.
We'll get into that one later on
- the nicest Shigaraki is is probably when a co-op game is going exactly how he wants it to, when he's drunk, or when he's exhausted.
But the second he dies it's game over for Dabi's eardrums too.
- Dabi finds it funny how Shigaraki's personality changes after a few drinks.
To document it, he says “this is your last one” every time Tomura yells him to get him another one and then writes down Tomura's response.
It usually goes something like
“I hate you”
“that ain't fuckin' fair”
“Noooo :((((”
“Meanie >:(”
- Tomura gets real cuddly when he's asleep.
You can't be not moving within an arm's length if you don't want him to grab you.
If you're standing by the couch, he'll try n grab your shirttail or sleeve or something like that.
He'll lean on you and you're stuck then, he'll grab on and not let go if you try to move.
This goes for anyone, even outside of the LoV if it so happens.
Dabi loves this n toltally takes a bunch of pictures and makes Toga send him the ones she takes.
Tomura's favorite cuddle position is either being a smol spoon or laying ontop of Dabi, with Dabi's arm around him.
Everything just to be close and to feel safe, because Shigaraki hates to sleep, and he feels vulnerable.
Dabi thinks that's because of AfO and wonders if Tomura would be that cuddly all the time if he grew up with someone else, he was doing it unconsciously.
- speaking of sleep habits, Shigaraki sleeps with a blanket.
Not with naps, those're fine. He can get through an hour and a half or so.
But he actually can't get to sleep, real sleep, without his blanket.
It's just small and blue with lil white and light yellow bunnies on it, he's had it since he was real little.
The only time he won't really sleep without it is if he has at least three stuffed animals around him. No less.
He's exhausted and none of this can be provided? He's not having a good sleep and he's barely comfortable.
- it's so fascinating to Dabi what having a bad childhood can do to you.
He thought that his was the worst until he learnt of Tomura because, unlike Tomura, Dabi actually /had/ a childhood. He was quickly tossed to the side after his father learned his qhirk hurt him but he still grew to be about 15 in that household, with three younger siblings to give a bunch of love and support to, of whom also give a lot back. They went to the park, to the movies, school. They were neglected but that meant Dabi could sneak them out to have some fun.
Tomura didn't have anything after he got his quirk. He killed his entire family then was wandering the streets for who knows how long. Who knows what he whitnessed and went through in that time. Then who knows what happened after he was picked up by AfO. That scar on his finger posed quite a few questions.
Dabi had a childhood still, even if a good amount was taken. Shigaraki's was ripped away from him and he didn't get more than 4 years of it, maybe a bit less.
That's why he acted so childish all the time.
- Dogs are probably the things Tomura hates the least.
If he sees a smol doggo on the side of the road he will want to pet it and he will do anything it takes to achieve his goal. He'll usually pull his sleeve down over his hand if it's long enough, or just use the knuckle of his pointer finger.
But if he sees a corgi he'll probably cry.
It's not the biggest c r y, but like he's reminded of the dog he had when he was little and he can't handle being reminded of that experience.
Big doggos scare him.
- Dabi has considered taking him to a shelter, just so he can inteact. They'll adopt if they want, but Shigaraki mostly just enjoys going so he van have a fun time with the doggos.
- Tomura has a habit of getting lost while they're in a group.
Are they in the mall and pass by a GameStop? Tomura's gonna turn into that store, you can't stop him.
He always turns into arcades and play parks too.
Dabi never let's him though.
C'mon man let the kid have some fun >:(
- despite what you nay think, Dabi has a bunch of chapsticks on him at all times and he throws them at Tomura whenever he picks at his lips.
The further into the day it gets, the more he picks, the more force behind the blows.
- Dabi has a rainbow blanket tha the often uses to, as Tomura puts it, assault Shigaraki.
He'll throw it at him then kiss him when he pulls the blanket down, sling it over him with both ends in his hand so he can pull Tomura close n kiss him.
Gay shit like that.
- Dabi's more open about it — their relationship and his sexuality — than Tomura. He doesn't care. He'll say it if someone's looking at them weird or just looking at Tomura (bcus Dabi thinks it's bcos he's hot even though that's not why people are looking at him. Dabi he looks like a hobo calm down)
Tomura, though, doesn't say anything. Even if people ask. He's not exactly self-conscious or nervous or anything, he's just not one of those 'outwardly gay' people. Example, the op.
- Dabi does a lot of things to Tomura when he's asleep, since he's a deep sleeper.
Examples:
Cut his nails
Put ChapStick on
Brush his hair
And many more that Tomura will not do by himself.
- Okay so I saved this one for last because it's a long one.
We were at about 975 words before this one, and the toltal word count now that I've finished is about 1719, so this is a long boi.
Tomura doesn't like his hands getting anywhere near Dabi.
He isn't as cautious around anyone else and he really wasn't round Dabi till he realized how gay he was.
As most people know already, when Tomura's Quirk manifested, he killed everyone in his family present at the time. Maybe one or two was an accident, but he was so young and he most likely panicked and got scared. He did all of that with his hands, he caused so much destruction with his hands.
My headcanon is thay it manifested while he was lovin his corgi dog with his sister across the room. Of course, that's going to cause them both to scream and she ran over. Tomura probably didn't even know what had happened, how it happened, or how he'd caused it at that point, so he tried to grab onto her. That didn't work very well.
Screams alerted most in the house and Shigaraki, well, Shimura in this case, fit it together that it was his hands that caused it.
He couldn't understand what was happening or the true weight of the situation but he knew he was in some huge trouble.
Tenko didn't look back, just trying to shut up and do anything he could.
He didn't even have time to grab anything from his home, once everything had been done. The rush of adrenaline, fear, and panic were keeping him doing what he was doing but now that he was really understanding whay was going on, what he'd just done, what'd just happened, why it looked like he'd just dipped his arms and chest and face in paint.
And he ran.
He hated his Quirk for a while before he was groomed to realize he could use it for reasons not so hurtful to him. Before that, though, he tried on multiple occasions after learning how his Quirk really worked to slice his finger off.
He got the idea back when he found a documentary on the ‘Shimura Family Massacre.’ All he got from AfO was some 'reassuring words' and a hand on his shoulder.
He got to the bone one time, because AfO wasn't home to stop him, but he didn't have a good enough knife to get through it and all the really good and sharp Japanese knives were hidden and/or out of his reach.
Shigaraki shut himself off. When he slowly started letting himself feel emotions again, in the form of gaming and things of that nature, he still didn't let himself get close to anyone. Sure it happened unconsciously, he didn't realize the dependence or care for AfO until he was ripped away.
He didn't realize the little care that started to build up among the league either.
But Dabi was the one to really break that one, he blew it out of the fucking park, and Tomura feels... Really scared around him.
He's scared to love and get attached because he's sared that something like the massacre in his home will happen again.
He doesn't want to hurt Dabi.
It took him a really long time to even get that close to him.
When he really got into a relationship with Dabi was when he started wearing his gloves again. They're the ones digital artists use.
Tomura is really touch starved and is glad Dabi can provide hugs n cuddles n shit.
It took Tomura an even longer time to start hugging or snuggling back, but he'd still rip his hand away whenever Dabi tried to hold it — even if he was wearing gloves.
But he is slowly getting better at it.
Dabi linked their pinky fingers when they were at a bus stop (he fuggin held on so tight so Tomura wouldn't jerk away).
Tomura looked up at him and gave him the most fearful look, and it fucking shattered Dabi's heart.
He didn't let it show though, he just smiled a little and said “See? It's okay.”
They've been getting better bit by bit since then.

Personal Heater
Alright, what a ride! That was fun. What better way to learn to write characters than by just... writing one-shots about them? That’s right, no better way. Anyways, for the final day, have some more loose prompt interpretations and even more pining fools. (@shigadabiweek)
ShigaDabi Week Day 7 – Space.
Word Count: 1543
———
Shigaraki Tomura doesn’t like being touched.
Dabi doesn’t think it is a secret, but it is a truth which doesn’t need to be voiced, to be spelled out to newcomers. It is a truth easily noticed if you take a minute too long looking at Shigaraki. Perhaps it is a consequence of his quirk, or of his upbringing, or just the kind of a person he is; in any case, Shigaraki Tomura doesn’t like being touched.
And Dabi – well, Dabi may be a criminal, and he may well be an asshole depending on whom you ask, but he isn’t about to go invade his boss’s personal space just because he happens to be a tactile person. He has some sense of self-preservation, firstly; but above all, he doesn’t want Shigaraki to hate him any more than he already does.
(And that, he’s pretty sure, is a decent amount.)
***
Dabi hates him.
It’s not that hard to pick up on, really – not for Tomura in any case. Not for Tomura, because Tomura spends all too much time sitting at the bar and looking. He doesn’t look at Dabi specifically, of course – why would he? – but if Dabi happens be a tad easier to notice than the others, what with the stapled skin and the turquoise eyes, well, then it’s entirely his fault. If he didn’t want Tomura staring, maybe he should have chosen a look which doesn’t draw gazes quite so strongly.
And the point is, Dabi hates him. It’s not the jabs which tip Tomura off, not the deadpan maybe-jokes probably-insults, because he is like that with everybody. It’s the fact that Dabi... touches people. A lot. Dabi walks up to Magne and throws his hand around her shoulders nonchalantly as he intrudes on a conversation. Dabi tugs Kurogiri on the sleeve as he asks for a drink, which is in itself an entirely unnecessary action. Dabi forces Toga in a chair before she goes out in public, for god’s sake, and styles her hair into a braid so she wouldn’t be recognised – a really good braid at that.
Dabi touches people. A lot.
Just not Tomura.
(Which is absolutely fine, for the record. It’s just an observation. Tomura likes making those.)
***
Dabi’s pretty sure it’s a decent amount – Shigaraki’s hatred towards him, that is – because he isn’t fucking blind. And also maybe because he looks at Shigaraki a little too much. But it’s justified, really. He isn’t sure how yet, but he’s sure that it is.
Anyways, the point is that he isn’t blind, and he knows that Tomura stares at him, occasionally, except his stares are a little too dark. It’s not that all Shigaraki’s stares aren’t unsettling – they are, what with red eyes and scarred eyelids – but Dabi thinks he’s got his own brand of darkness directed at him from the vague direction of the bar. He notices it, sometimes, out of the corner of the eye, when he’s trying to arm wrestle with Spinner or when he leans against Twice’s shoulder as they chat, and he feels himself shiver.
It’s mainly because he doesn’t understand what brought this on.
It’s also a little because he doesn’t like the idea of Tomura hating him.
But that’s childish, and he hasn’t been a child for a long, long time. He’s used to hate.
So he keeps his distance.
***
Dabi keeps his distance very deliberately, rarely approaching Tomura unless it’s on League’s business. Tomura thinks he should be happy – he should like the idea of being feared, hell, even hated, because he isn’t doing any of this to be loved. Instead Tomura just finds himself... irritated.
Not mad. Not upset, definitely not upset at all.
Just irritated.
After all, it’s Dabi’s right to touch whomever he wants to touch and stay away from whomever he wants to stay away from. Tomura certainly can’t order him around when it comes to this, can’t tell him to walk over and grab his arm like he would do to Mr Compress or even to Mustard, just so Tomura can see what all the fuss is about. Because they’re fussing, that’s what their doing, the rest of them, especially when late autumn rolls around and they tug on Dabi’s sleeves and snuggle up closer to him and tell him that he’s pretty much a human equivalent of a hot water bottle.
It’s not like Tomura even wants to see what they are on about. He isn’t curious.
He’s just a little cold.
***
Dabi doesn’t get cold, but the others sure do.
And their hideout isn’t really a stellar example of good housing – the windows aren’t exactly insulated, and the brick walls tend to lose heat too quickly. So Dabi may not get cold – on the contrary, sometimes he runs too warm – but that only means that he becomes a portable radiator to just about everyone around him as soon as the temperatures start dropping.
Everyone but Shigaraki, of course, but that should go without saying.
Toga wraps her limbs around him like a little monkey and refuses to let him move for a couple of hours after she comes back from a raid in a nearby shopping mall. Spinner – as someone whose own thermal regulating is as terrible as expected given his quirk – barely leaves his side. Magne lingers suspiciously close, laughing sheepishly when Dabi sighs and tells her to just cling onto him like others do.
Honestly. He has thought of many uses of his quirk when he got it first. Keeping a bunch of villains warm was not one of them.
(But then, he isn’t complaining).
***
Tomura is sitting at one of the tall chairs at the bottom floor one night and staring at the wall opposite. Most lights are dimmed, Kurogiri has already gone to bed as has most everyone else, and that leaves just Tomura and Dabi who’s lingering in the corner with some stupid book he nicked from a shelf in a bookstore a couple of days back. Tomura is shivering and trying to pointedly not look in his direction.
To not think about the space between them.
To not think that it is all too much space.
Dabi gets up and shuts his book with a thud, and Tomura doesn’t jump in place, of course, but still feels his breath hitch in surprise. He turns around to glare at Dabi, and Dabi cocks one eyebrow up in that perfectly infuriating manner he has as he walks by him. They hold each other’s gaze – a silent challenge, a competition Tomura wants no part in but knows it’s too late to pull out now – and Dabi stops in front of him, a few feet back.
“You going to sleep at all today, creep?”
“Watch your own sleeping habits.”
“So harsh,” Dabi chuckles, waving his arm around. Tomura can feel the heat radiating from his body – even like this, even with the space between them – and finds his body leaning forward, almost instinctively.
Tomura thinks that he doesn’t do instincts – not like this, not because of some embarrassing feelings and low temperatures – so he figures he might as well make it seem like he means it.
He leans forward some more and grabs Dabi’s arm.
For a second they are both quiet.
Then, Tomura says,
“You’re warm.”
***
Then, Dabi says,
“And you’re freezing!”,
because he can’t think of anything else to say, and Tomura’s skin is dry and cold against his own. Shigaraki’s pinky is hovering carefully above his forearm, but Dabi finds himself completely unafraid for no good reason, as if a single motion of the man in front of him cannot end his life the next instance.
He finds himself completely unafraid and he thinks, well, when have I ever done things halfway?
Running away from home? Dye your hair and burn your skin so nobody ever finds you.
Seeking revenge on your father? Join the most feared villain organisation in Japan.
Getting murdered by Tomura Shigaraki?
Might as well do something to deserve it.
***
Tomura doesn’t realise, not at first, not for too long a moment, that Dabi pulls him into a hug.
But then, there are arms wrapped around his shoulders, and he’s pressed to a warm chest, and he needs to be extremely careful not to grab onto Dabi’s shirt with all five fingers to – what? Pull him closer? Push him away? – but Dabi doesn’t seem concerned about possibility of death at all. Instead, he smirks – Tomura can feel his smirk more than he can see it – and murmurs, just above his right ear,
“Should’ve told me you need a personal heater, boss.”
Tomura thinks that he should probably kill him, because Dabi can, and probably will, be completely insufferable about this.
Tomura also thinks that is it an absolutely ridiculous thought because he cannot kill him. Not Dabi. Not now, not ever.
And, when Tomura allows himself to relax into the hug, to lean a little closer and close his eyes and rest his head against Dabi’s shoulders, he thinks that maybe, just maybe he has misjudged.
Maybe Dabi doesn’t hate him quite so much after all.
***
(And maybe, after all, Shigaraki Tomura isn’t quite so averse to touching. Dabi sure hopes so).

What are your top ten Shigaraki ships (and if you've got time for it: why)?
Oh man! idk if I have enough - if there even is enough - Shigaraki ships (in the traditional romantic sense) to fill ten. Plus I hadn’t ship Shigaraki much with anyone because it wasn’t until recently that he got all this screentime and developing relationships with other characters.
But going with interesting dynamics and relationships of all types, platonic or romantic or enemy or cautionary or imaginary/fanon (because I’m a sucker for my own imagined potential of a relationship) or canon(ish), and which ones intrigues/affects/impacts me the most? and then ranking them??? impossible hmm
(using the names and honorifics the characters call Shigaraki for some variation and also because I’m a weeb) (also ranking is suspect because I’m bad at making decisions)
10. Shigaraki and Bakugou
I didn’t actually like Bakugou until his Remedial Course mini-arc, and so didn’t pay attention to him much. So I was surprised when Shigaraki wanted Bakugou for his League. It wasn’t until I understood Shigaraki much better and finally took the effort to consider Bakugou’s side of things that I found myself wishing they had more interaction during his kidnapping. Because here was Shigaraki going 110% to woo Bakugou into joining him, he had honestly thought the boy would make a good Villain. And there was Bakugou who was adamant about being a Hero despite not being very Heroic. We could’ve had a great look (if Bakugou ever talked) into Heroes and Villains and motivations and more stuff about how they’re two sides of the same coin… or so I wish, making this a purely speculation about a battle of ideas and these two enemies coming to a grudging respect. But that’s all over now.
9. Shigaraki and Twice
Shigaraki took off Twice’s mask to shut him up (sorta), then put it back on for him! If that isn’t the most warmhearted mean thing to do. Twice is very much invested in the League and I wanna see Shigaraki appreciating that. Is Twice the first member to get to touch Shigaraki’s hands? To measure them for a clone? Very big deal. Not a very intense dynamic, but good fun downtime Villain Out Shopping fluff.
8. Shigaraki and Mr. Compress
Gotta say it’s @happojin’s ficlet about these two scheming over personal revenge on Overhaul that got me intrigued in this no-ideology partnership-in-pure-villainy. Mr. Compress is the exact type of chaos-loving dramatic criminal that’s right up his boss’ alley, though I can see too much of it getting onto Shigaraki’s nerves - which makes for good, mischievous conflict. These two would blow up buildings purely for fun and I wanna see that joy on their faces. But also! Not yet knowing the reason for Mr. Compress join the League makes for great speculation - like maybe he’s just enamored with Shigaraki’s spirit and youth (that makes him feel young himself???) that he’ll be okay with losing an arm and poverty and getting kicked around by a giant naked mountain man for a month. We see Mr. Compress with Shigaraki in chapter 114, calling Toga (for Shigaraki?) and I want to think it’s Mr. Compress fancying himself as Shigaraki’s (all) right hand man.
7. Doctor and Shigaraki
The Doctor is creepy and I’m iffy about him cuz, well, he’s creepy but he sure is making the plot move forward and now he’s the guy who will be giving the League zany inventions like some episodic comedic cartoon. If it wasn’t so horrifying that they’re Noumus. But mostly, this is a guy who knew Shigaraki from childhood, who preserved (and maintained???) the hands, who Shigaraki is familiar with but also knows nothing about. What stories can you tell us about Shigaraki, Doc? I wanna know. I’m scared, but I wanna know.
6. Giran and Shigaraki-san
How long have they known each other??? (Consider - middle-aged seen-his-shit-in-the-underworld-and-now-respected-broker Giran having to be polite to a sulky teenaged Shigaraki and needing to address him as ‘san’ - idk, maybe I’m getting the nuance there wrong but… hilarity) What other dealings have they done? Giran sure is a champ to lose five fingers for Shigaraki and the League - is the League his best customer? Did Shigaraki ‘inherit’ the use of the broker from AFO? Has Giran met AFO? I guess this is just me wanting to know more about Giran, and Shigaraki is the proxy for that. But I wanna know! I wanna see them interact when Shigaraki rescues Giran.
5. All Might and Shigaraki(Shimura Tenko)
I love my Shimura Tenko gets a father figure in All Might AUs! I’m writing one lol. But I acknowledge this is less about the characters themselves and more about the exploration of a legacy that ties them together. Cuz I love that shit. I love the idea of All Might being such a loyal disciple that he would do anything for the grandson of Nana - except it’s just that, he’s only chasing after a reminder of Nana. What would he do with Shigaraki/Tenko himself? And I love the idea of Shigaraki/Tenko deciding how to incorporate the tale of the sordid Shimura family into his life - if he chooses to do so at all. Lots of family/identity drama. Also completely in headcanon territory. Ah well.
4. Toga and Tomura-kun
The recent chapters have really up my interest in the friendship/siblinghood/whatever admiration Toga has for Shigaraki. She calls him Tomura-kun, which yes it’s expected of her as a cute high schooler; but no one else has ever called Shigaraki just his first name besides AFO. And Shigaraki seems to have a soft spot for her? He’s been very nice to all of the League, but for someone who immediately hated her at first sight cuz she was a ‘brat’ who didn’t make any sense, that’s the biggest attitude change. Right now, they’re confirmed to be the youngest and closest in age of the League, and I like the idea of them being able to be ‘young people these days’ together and relate to one another. Toga is very loyal to Shigaraki, but not above stabbing him should he be a jerk. Like with Twice, I wanna see Shigaraki be appreciative, or rather, I wanna see another scene where he’s really nice to her (the first one being, of course, that Overhaul arc flashback).
Also they were in an omake drama CD being silly and if that isn’t the best thing.
3. Kurogiri and Shigaraki Tomura
Hmmm I’m lazy and I already planned a whole post dedicated to analyzing their relationship, so I’m gonna skip this. I’ll edit with the link to that post later!
2. Shigaraki and Spinner! In danger of being an OTP for me, which isn’t hard cuz I don’t have any other
The only romantic relationship on this list. Spinaraki. Like I said before, though Shigaraki was really the only option after Stain, Spinner was so clearly ready to believe in Shigaraki, to follow him, because he wanted the League to change the world. That’s a lot of faith put onto someone who is Shigaraki (I mean, look at him, he’s a skinny NEET goth), so much so Spinner, implied to have not been a criminal before joining the League, is ready to kill (and does). That’s intriguing enough, and then comes his month long observation diary about his leader. Who he still stays with after knowing Shigaraki’s very-not-Stain-like-nor-revolutionary plans. And now we wait for the climax of his journey of wavering loyalty. True, a lot of it is my own hyped-up imagination but I’m enjoying it. If Spinner stays and become Shigaraki’s most loyal follower, that is so my shit I’m going to die. I’m gonna die anyways whenever they interact in the near future chapters.
1. All For One and Tomura
What is there to say about…. this? It haunts me. It’s number one on this list cuz it’s the dynamic that I think about most, has impacted me most (Chapter 222 was a lot to handle), and it’s like trying to untangle thorny vines. Gotta say, in my intepretation, it’s a very accurate portrayal - from Shigaraki’s side - of caring about someone who has hurt you a lot, and you know it. But it’s the person you knew best and depended on when there was no one else, and you’re always going to have their influence - of which includes positive things. It’s one of the very few portrayal that gets all the paradoxical messy details while being explicitly clear to the reader it’s wrong, Shigaraki doesn’t deserve this. It’s also clear that while AFO may have affection for people, that doesn’t matter. He’s a monster. Still wrong, and cruel. And I think that’s important to show, important to depict and an important message told well. Now all that’s left is to wait to see what Shigaraki will do now and how this bond will break.
This to be absolutely clear, this isn’t a ‘ship’, it’s a portrayal of an abused child solider that is now flourishing away from his guardian and I’m hopeful for the future. And it’s so poignant to me, that a story is tackling this. Gets it. Its a dynamic I’m invested in because it’s a story of survival and I will see it through.
-
Honorable mentions? I wanna see Shigaraki and Hawks. That should be interesting.
I used to like ShigaDabi, but mostly because it was available. I’ve got no opinions about it now. :/
-
Thanks for reading!

It was hard to choose but these two☆,♦️and Shigadabi tickled my fancy the most (either or both I don't mind, I'm just indecisive). I recently realized how many fics you've created (and published) while I've been following you (your in the 40's on AO3 now!) And I've gone back to the start and decided to reread them all ( - Dogteeth, I love it but it kills me every time). I love all your fics so much, id forgotten in the beginning that I'd finished all your bnha fics (at the time) and saw you had done Gravity falls as well and draged myself back into a fandom I hadn't been in in years just so I could read more if your writing, I have to go back and finish that series it was fire (different to how you write now but I really enjoyed it!) Wow that's a lot of parentheses (sorry!) :) Have fun creating!
Hey Celcil! Thanks so much, and yeah it's been a LOT of stuff over the past 9 months, but I just really like these characters and have no self-restraint! I hope you have a good time going back and re-reading the other stories, and I'm so glad you enjoyed Signal Flares! I loved that story a lot when I first started working on it and there actually is a final installment that I'll be writing someday if I get the inspiration! (I have the whole outlined and everything!) I hope you're doing well!
Headcanons!
☆ - happy headcanon
Dabi: happiest when he has something to do. He never likes feeling useless or idle and whenever he's doing something that means his mind isn't wandering to the bad things. This man has weaponized his smile and laughter, so when he's actually really enjoying something, he often looks kind of stoic and uninterested, but in his head, he's purring. He likes spending time around the people he loves and if he's being quiet and not mocking them at all, it means he's as content as he can be.
Shigaraki: He's pretty unabashed with his emotions and it's not hard to know when something has made him happy because he will readily give a big (and sometimes a little creepy) smile or a laugh. Usually happiest hanging out playing games or working on something with one of the others. It was really weird to see him so stoic and unattached after Kamino, but he gets his joy back during PLF Era and he thinks it's kind of funny and cute that all of the others seem to relax and brighten up themselves whenever he smiles or laughs at one of their jokes or antics.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
Dabi: As far as quirks go (in the figurative sense), he has a habit of chewing on the staples in his cheeks when he's idle or nervous. It's a bad habit that is kind of gross, bad for his teeth, and hurts, but he can't seem to kick it. Hobby-wise I like to think that he has started to develop his own support gear. It's slow-going given he's entirely self-taught, but if this will give him a better chance of taking down his father then he's more than willing to try it.
Shigaraki: Quirk-wise, I think that when he wants to stay up (and perhaps slip into the Shadow Realm) he drinks coffee with an energy drink poured into it. As for hobbies, we all know he plays a lot of games. (His other hobby is railing Dabi in new and creative ways, but Dabi really doesn't appreciate being called a 'hobby')

Shigaraki for the character thing. ( Additional challenge: No key-smashing :P )
Oh I was expecting someone to ask this one (someone did already I think, but they did it in reblogs instead of sending an ask so...I couldn’t really count that?)
Anyway, I was visiting our capital with mum so sorry for the late response!
Also, prepare for a LONG ASS ONE (no keysmashing, I’m actually not the type to do so)
How I feel about this character
Where do I even begin?
When I first saw him, I was kind of intrigued how non-typical he was for a villain leader. Someone who was clearly not some top dog but a childish beginner. Then as story moved on, it became clear to me Hori was truly intending to flesh out our main antagonist properly and allow him to grow alongside the protagonist, which I thought was really refreshing take on a villain in mangas, and a lot of other stories.
Basically, it’s not too common to me.
Shigaraki’s story just....hits all the notes I enjoy about a character.
An antagonistic one specifically.
It’s such a dark, twisted and ultimately kind of tragic story that, at least in my case, raises a lot of thoughts; could it all have been prevented if different choices were made? Even if Nana hadn’t given up her kid, even if Kotaro hadn’t been a horrible father, even if the family had been supportive.
Would Tenko have still ended up like this due to AFO, or would the man never even bothered? Would Tenko, if ACTUALLY given a choice in the matter, still ended up a villain? Would his quirk have driven him prone to destruction even with a supportive family?
So many questions.....
Basically, his kind of characters give me a lot to think about, lot of writing material to consider and type out for fics, and ultimately has me invested even in the villain’s journey, regardless of my disagreements with their actions.
I obviously don’t condone a lot of the shit the villains do, but I find them - and Tomura especially - an entertaining character that keeps you invested in his story, regardless of how dark and painful it can become.
I also lowkey appreciate how he isn’t another kind of generic looking pretty boy. Having some grit in his design only makes him more memorable and stand out.
I ALSO dig the horror vibes, one of my favorite genres.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Shigadabi is my otp, but I admittedly have seen some Shigahawks headcanons from some folks I follow that kinda intrigued me so I guess I lowkey like this ship idea too?
(Obviously neither is supported by canon, but shipping is for fun anyway. To me at least. I often choose my ships depending on the potential interactions their story/personality can give me. What characters and potential dynamics between them inspire me to write so to say)
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Canonically: Tomura and all of his league mates, especially Spinner currently.
Fanon: I like to explore a more positive relationship between him and Midoriya (as you may have noticed from my fics lmao) probably given their main focus in the story, connection to All Might and AFO/OFA and so on.
How would their relationship turned out if All Might for example, had gone against Nana’s wishes and stayed in touch? He’d probably been a family friend and known Tenko personally. Which could have led to Tenko meeting Izuku in a more positive manner
Another one I seem to like to do for fics and fic aus is Tomura and Shinsou. Might just be because Shinsou is actually my second fave hero kid after Izuku, and Tomura my fave villain.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Sometimes it feels like just liking Tomura (or any villain admittedly) can be somehow that. Like...jeez.
People are allowed to like villain characters and find their story worth reading and following. Especially when they are this well-written.
The alignment in the story should not dictate whenever one is allowed to like the character or not.
....okay this is more about some fandom issues in general than specifically about Tomura admittedly.
Let’s just let everyone enjoy whatever character strikes their fancy and is interesting to them to read about.
I personally generally like fleshed out villains like this, given they are an interesting look on the dark side of humanity and human mind, and what can drive people to extremes. And, in some cases, what can potentially save them from it.
That’s also why I like horror as a genre, as it tends to touch on these topics a lot. Also symbolism. Horror has a lot of symbolism in it that can be fun to dechiper.
Okay I gotta stop rambling
NEXT
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
At this point I’m just gonna like, sit back and prepare myself for whatever crazy shit Hori is gonna throw at us next.

My Object of Affection
Okay, listen up. This was my failed attempt at writing shigadabi fluff, but I feel like it’s a waste to just delete it, so I’m posting it here. There’s virtually no plot but there’s a little bit of action at the end. Oh, and I didn’t feel like writing out a fight scene so it kind of just ends abruptly. Have fun reading?
-
I loved little moments like this. Just laying next to Shigaraki, playing with tufts of his cotton candy-colored hair, swirling pieces of it in between my fingers. It was obvious that he enjoyed it by the way he curled into me on the bed, nuzzling his cheek into the crook of my neck. He mumbled something to himself, content with our closeness, and I couldn’t help but smile.
Moments like these were rare because villains like us were always on the run, but that’s what made them more meaningful. Love could turn a cold, hardened person like me into a sentimentalist, savoring intimacy like how an artist savored the feeling of a paintbrush in their hands. This relationship I had with Shigaraki, so deep and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before, was my biggest accomplishment, my greatest masterpiece.
I had no idea how I ended up falling for the man laying on top of me right now, but I think it had something to do with his eyes. Those ruby red eyes of his were dangerous. They were so brilliant and saturated that I found myself falling into them, enraptured by their perpetuity. From there, I found myself captivated by the rest of him. His scarred yet soft lips, rough and textured skin that felt supple under my fingertips, sharp collarbone and jaw that I found myself kissing more often than not, littering those coveted areas with bruises. Even his calloused hands were beautiful to me. I knew he would never hurt me with them; I trusted him wholeheartedly. Because he was my object of affection. My light in the darkness.
I yawned and wrapped my arm tighter around Shigaraki. A dim glow from the nearest window illuminated the room; from the looks of it, it was early morning. I had business to attend to in the afternoon, and I’m sure Shigaraki did too, but for now, I wanted to spend some quality time with my boyfriend.
I shook Shigaraki lightly, as to not startled him and make him disintegrate me accidentally. With no success, I wasted no time in gently pinching his cheek. His eyes shot open.
“Dabi…” he whined. He was extra cute when he was sleepy.
“Morning babe.” I kissed his cheek.
“...5 more minuuuutes.” Shigaraki grumbled, squirming on top of me as to make himself more comfortable, “I need my beauty sleep.”
“You’re beautiful enough.”
“You always say that even though it’s not true.” A pout appeared on his lips. I chuckled at his sudden bout of childishness.
“Fuck yeah it’s true. Have you ever looked in the mirror?”
“I tend to avoid them, actually,” Shigaraki said, trailing off at the end of his sentence.
His self-esteem was a mess, but I tried to boost his confidence by showering him with compliments often. Although his role as leader of the league had improved his confidence levels a bit, he still doubted himself from time to time. It made my heart ache, how he sometimes failed to recognize how incredible he was.
I sat up on the bed, leaning against the bed frame. Shigaraki moved off of me, his movements resembling a cat’s as he positioned himself in front of me on the bed. I stared at him, taking in his features and storing them into my memory. I never wanted to forget about the wrinkles under his eyes, the curve of his nose, or the little birthmark under his chin. I sighed to myself, completely and unabashedly infatuated with Shigaraki.
“Dabi, you awake?” He waved a hand in front of my face. “Earth to Dabi…”
“Huh?”
“You checked out on me, silly.”
“I was just admiring you.”
“Again? Damn, you must really like me.” He placed a chaste kiss to my lips.
“I do if you couldn’t already tell.”
Shigaraki’s phone started ringing from the nearby nightstand. He picked it up with two fingers, his knuckles brushing the surface of his beloved hand, father, as he looked at the screen to see who was calling. It was Mr. Compress.
“Hello?” Shigaraki said, taking the call, “isn’t it a bit early for you to be calling, Compress?”
I began to massage Shigaraki’s shoulders when he turned away from me. He made a motion with his hands for me to stop as if I was distracting him. I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck instead.
Shigaraki tensed up.
“They’ve found out our central base’s location? But that’s where I am right now.”
My eyes widened. Most of the league members had rooms in the central base, including Shigaraki. If what Mr. Compress was saying was true, it was only a matter of time before…
Bullets rained through the window, barely missing the both of us. I instinctively put myself between Shigaraki and the window, ready to use myself as a shield in case any more bullets flew in. I wouldn’t let Shigaraki get hurt, no matter what.
“Dabi, we have to get out of here!”
Shigaraki got off the bed and ran towards his nearest pair of shoes, putting them on rapidly. I did the same, grabbing Shigaraki’s trench coat from his coat rack and handing it to him. I put on mine and took inventory of the contents in my pockets. I had a gum wrapper, loose change, and a pack of cigarettes. None of those items would help us in our current predicament, sadly.
I walked towards the door and opened it, pushing Shigaraki through. He seemed a bit hesitant to leave, however. It was as if he were forgetting something.
“Father!” He exclaimed, sprinting towards the hand on the nightstand. Another round of bullets tore through the room before Shigaraki even reached the table. I rushed towards him, grabbing him and pulling him out of the room. I noticed a red welt on Shigaraki’s face. A bullet must’ve grazed him.
“Shit, you’re bleeding.”
“It’s fine,” He said, wiping his bloodstained cheek with his hand, “it’s not like I haven’t been shot before.”
“Come on,” I said, holding onto Shigaraki’s forearm. “We gotta go somewhere safe.”
The sound of gunshots grew louder as we moved further down the halls of the base. We ran together, my grip on Shigaraki growing stronger as we dodged more attacks.
Then, Shigaraki pulled me into a corner. I was confused, to say the least.
“Listen to me, there’s only one nearby exit, and it’s probably where the shooters are entering from.” Shigaraki was panting slightly, and his cheek was still bleeding. I took his face into my hands and cradled it, rubbing my thumb over his cut.
“I know, and I understand what you’re saying.”
“This could be it.”
“Don’t say that.”
“You know I’m just trying to be realistic.” Shigaraki sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He was anxious. So was I.
“God, I can’t believe I had to leave father behind,” Shigaraki continued. “But I’d rather have you than him.”
He took a couple steps towards me, forcing my back against the nearest wall. My breath hitched, finding myself falling into the intensity of his eyes again when he looked at me.
“I love you,” Shigaraki said, inching closer to me and closing the gap between us. The kiss felt so pure and unbridled that I almost forgot that this kiss could be our last. That thought alone, a life without Shigaraki, was too much to bear. It brought a single tear to my eye.
“I love you too, and don’t you forget that.”
“I know you do.” He replied, grinning up at me. His smile never ceased to fill me with delight.
As the world came crashing down around us, I knew that even death couldn’t tear us apart. Because my love for Shigaraki was potent and untouchable. And we were intangible, lovers too wrapped up in ourselves to face the end. But if I were to die today, being able to die by Shigaraki’s side would be a bittersweet joy, not a tragedy.

criminal intent, thief in the night
pairing: stain/dabi (stabi), implied shigadabi rating: teen word count: 1.5k prompt: jail time/jailbreak summary: “he can tell that he’s just a broken thing trying to function as best as he can in a body that doesn’t seem to fit him quite right, still searching for a purpose in his likely mess of a life.” or; dabi and shiga break stain out of jail
i’m a day early BUT! this is my short little bit for stain week! i had so much fun with this because i’ve been thinking about a jailbreak fic for him for a while. i love him so very much and i wanted to write more but Life! ;~; i absolutely adore this idea and the concept of character weeks in general, so i hope there’s more for him and my favorites!
i’m planning on posting a second nsfw part to this on ao3 because how can i NOT
He’s hauled out of his sleep by the crescendoing sounds of explosions and shrill alarms.
The thing is, days in his cells are monotonous at best. When he wakes, he’s met with the sterile sight of the wall adjacent from his chair until the guards bring food to his cell, unstrapping some of his restraints in a manner that’s more violent than necessary. Then, he’s wrapped back up in his makeshift throne until it’s time for lunch, dinner. Between these events, he’s walked to the bathrooms to relieve himself and once a week, he’s allowed a shower. It’s a luxury he cherishes; cold water and harsh soap feel like long forgotten comfort and heaven in this man-made hell. There’s no variation at all, days filled with mind numbing static and thoughts that never seem to stop coming and if he was a lesser man, he’s absolutely certain he would’ve gone insane by now. There is no chance for redemption here; Tartarus is a place meant to bend and break the soul. But, as it stands, he’s helpless to do anything but wait. For what, he doesn’t know. It could be his death, it could be his release. He’s not sure how long he’s been in this cell, or how long he’s going to continue to be in this cell, but in any case, he’s sure that there’s no happy ending in his future. In his youth, he made a vow to himself to die for his cause, to die trying to preserve the sanctimonious quality of the hero word and he still holds that same unyielding conviction within his soul. He has no regrets about the things that motivated him and caused his actions; the only regret he has is that he was weak enough to get caught. But, it’s okay. Even if he doesn’t get out, he can only hope that his actions help spur on the new generation of idealists who think just like him. The hero world still isn’t perfect yet. There’s still imbalance, fraud. Someone else needs to be willing enough to step in to finish what he failed to do.
His trail of thought is put on hold by the sound of explosions ringing loud through the enforced door and glass of his cell with shouting and the heavy footfalls of guards shortly following. He idly wonders who’s causing the commotion, and why, but he can only sit there like an obedient mutt like he’s done so many days before — sit and wait.
There’s another deafening explosion and what sounds like bodies slamming into his cell door. It’s quiet for a handful of seconds, and then the smell of burnt flesh and smoke drifts under the heavy plated door. It’s a foul suffocating smell, and he coughs, trying to dispel the irritants from his lungs.
Suddenly, his door makes an awful screeching sound and then, it starts to warp and crumble to pieces.
He can hear undistinguishable voices float in as the door falls bit by bit, chunks of metal thudding on the floor. He strains his ear and the sound of two voices becomes clearer above the sound of destruction. There’s one he’s never heard before, it’s soft yet full of baritone and the other has as a grating quality to it, a sound so familiar it sets his teeth on edge and has his arms struggling in their restraints attempting to grab the phantom knives on his waist. Logically, he knows who it belongs to, but for once he wants to be proved wrong. But, as the door finishes falling and smoke flumes in and scatters, he’s met with the sight of Shigaraki’s slouched form kicking charred bodies away from the door. Irritation and loathing automatically settles into his bones at the sight of him, but he forcibly pushes it to the side in favor of observing the unknown boy still standing there.
The first thing that catches his attention is the abundance of bruised and burned flesh that’s spread along his body. If Stain wasn’t used to mutilation, he thinks the sight would be enough to cause disgust to settle deep within his bones. Instead, he’s automatically intrigued by the morbidity of the metal stitching that’s seemingly holding him together.
The second thing he notices is the sleepy, bright and overzealous teal eyes staring unflinchingly at him through the glass barrier that remains. He doesn’t know what he was expecting to see in them considering he doesn’t know the boy, but this queer mix of admiration and something that looks suspiciously like lust surely wasn’t it. His observation is cut short as Shigaraki makes to leave, in search of something or someone and the boy is shooting out his hand to grab at his arm.
“Where are you going, you creepy motherfucker, stick to the plan,” he hears him hiss. Shigaraki has nothing to say except for a gritted and cliché, “shut the fuck up,” and Stain can’t help but roll his yes. Clearly, nothing has changed as far as Shigaraki’s planning skills go. There’s an obvious disconnect between the two and as they start to bicker, his exasperation slowly twists and transforms itself into amusement by the show of disorganization and hints of errant intimacy weaving between their spitted insults. Then, he’s forcibly placing Shigaraki’s palm on the glass wall separating them from Stain, all five fingers making contact with the plane. The soft cracking sound of glass echoes through his cell as it starts to break, hairline cracks turning into larger jagged cracks until the glass is falling to sharp pieces all around them.
“Hurry the fuck up, we don’t have time. We have to meet up with the others,” he shouts to Shigaraki’s back and upraised middle finger, the sounds of more explosions and screams weaving through the air from the distance. Then, he’s stepping over the empty metal plating that once held the glass and into Stain’s cell.
He’s automatically apprehensive.
He doesn’t know whether or not these two came to Tartarus to help him or to hurt him, his past encounters with Shigaraki not faring well; but as the boy approaches him, he can’t feel any hostile intentions radiating from him. Instead, the atmosphere is filled with a soft mix of admiration and adoration and…it’s unsettling. He watches with wary eyes as he steps into his personal space and falls to his knees. He looks down as scarred hands start to hurriedly fumble with the straps holding his legs down, soft curses from below floating upwards. There’s a lot of tugging going on, the boy clearly struggling with the fastenings and then there’s a sharp “fuck this” as he places his hands on the straps.
A thick, acidic smell starts to rise and that’s when Stain understands that the source of the explosions and burnt bodies is from this stranger currently trying his hardest to free him. He looks down as best he can at the mop of black hair as the restraints melt down and give way. And then, those overenthusiastic eyes are peering into his and no longer is apprehension taking up space in his blood, but now, there’s intrigue. There’s a dopey smile gracing his face, slightly crooked yet blindingly white teeth shining through the stretch of his lips. “Fuck, holy shit, you don’t know me, I wouldn’t except you to, really, I’m a nobody. But, I know you and I’m here, well, we’re here to break you out,” he says in a rush, rambling in a way that hints at being overwhelmed and starstruck and it should be annoying, but it strikes Stain as…endearing. He tunes him out for a bit, choosing instead to drag his eyes over the other’s face and watch as he continues to make clumsy gestures and stumbles over his words. He reminds Stain of an eager puppy, ready to please his owner and the thought itself makes him want to leer.
He forces himself to tune back in.
“You still have a lot of work to do. I wanna help, Stain, let me help you. I’ll do whatever you need, we’ll be good together. I’ll be good for you,” he breathes in a soft, genuine voice and goosebumps make a home on Stain’s arms as he smiles the first authentic smile he’s had in a while.
He doesn’t know anything about this boy aside from his apparent fire quirk, but he can tell that he’s just a broken thing trying to function as best as he can in a body that doesn’t seem to fit him quite right, still searching for a purpose in his likely mess of a life. He’s clearly looking for a reason to exist within Stain, Stain’s ideals; trying to integrate himself into Stain’s identity as much as he can. Now that he’s closer, Stain can see a crazed sort of obsession lurking in the depths of his eyes. He can tell the boy’s going to cause him a lot of problems in the near future, him and Shigaraki, knows that none of this is going to end without someone getting hurt, dying.
But, Stain knows he’s never been good at keeping his nose out of troublesome things.

shigadabi!!
WOOOOO YEAAHHHH!!!!!!
funny enough i didn’t care about them as a ship At All from like 2016 to early 2020, but last year a really good fic finally made me see the light and now they’re my faves lol. they just have the potential for an incredible dynamic and i'm so into it :')
besides the obvious leader/right hand man thing, the parallels between their backstories are too good to be ignored - they’re both from highly patriarchal, controlling and oppressive family situations where all they ever wanted was for someone to actually listen to them, to actually care about their dreams and hopes and tell them that they still have worth as people, that they can still be accepted and loved by their families even though they can't live up to the unfair expectations placed on them - and the truly heartbreaking part is that those are the same motivations that drive them today, at least in part. tenko asks his mom if his dad hates him because he doesn't have a quirk, because he wants to be a hero - touya is determined to show his worth to his uncaring father using a quirk that burns him up from the inside. they’re both propelled through their arcs by deep love towards an authority figure that has (rightfully) turned sour, they’re both in desperate need of finding a personhood and identity outside of the roles as the failed successor/chosen heir, to stand on their own two feet and find out who they actually are outside of all the trauma and the expectations inflicted upon them. and they're both very emotionally driven people, highly ambitious and whip smart!! i think they could learn a lot from each other if only they would TALKKKKKK MOREEEEE
also. they’re both annoying assholes who love riling each other up and it really doesn’t get any better than that when it comes to a ship dynamic. they’re so much fun to write and so much fun to read, when it’s done well. so much potential for pointless bickering for the sake of bickering that drives everyone else nuts <3333 they’re irritating and i love them so much. i wish there was a lot more quality content because they deserve it
send me a ship ;w;
