This marks the first appearances of Paige, Scarlett, Clarence, and Aziz. The former three previously appeared in Rough Sketch, the latter debuts here. This is also the first time Siren appears in the flesh.

Olive makes her first appearance since her debut.

Scarlett inherited Rosie’s old name from the original continuity. The names “Violet” and “Scarlett” came around about a month before Gamefreak agreed it was a good idea.

This episode debuts a new background style with geometric blocks of color to partially convey movement.

This episode also dabbles in consistent leitmotifs for certain characters; in this case, Scarlett, Clarence, and Aziz.

Aziz’s setup shows “Sore Losers” playing in the background. Coincidentally, that was Rosie’s debut episode.

No Gray Drewmans appear.

I wrote out a bit of headcanons for cadet a while back that I’ll just,,,

Likes to play baseball

Likes tacos (not the crunchy kind) with lots of lime

Swapped but .. is still judge…??

He acts like hes not strong and fails at becoming part of royal guard to keep up a facade

Sometimes his mask slips but it’s ok bc no one will believe you <3

Very tolerant most times bc he has his own way to vent…?

Sans doesn't work on machine maybe?

Hands too full so pap does all the nerd stuff instead

Sans goes around helping ppl with chores or whatever, talking to them

Helps keep their hopes up

Hes cheerful outside but once hes home, he deflates

He has to keep other people happy but theres no one to help make him happy ):

Pretends he cant cook

A lot of things about him is a facade

Maybe he likes that ppl try so hard to pretend to like his cooking? He thinks its funny

Makes him a little happier, sees it as a little harmless payment for making everybody else happy all the time

Observant

Doesn't know too much about timelines and resets but pap would talk to him about it ?

Snowdin fight would be with sans if pacifist/neutral (fake fight, for the facade) and with pap if geno (pap asking you to stop)

You still go on date with pap

Doesn't actually want to meet or catch a human

Lets them get away on purpose and is kind of pushing them onto pap.

Sans is tired.

Sometimes he disappears to nap

Needs to recharge after being so extroverted all the time

Sans would often scold pap for not going outside enough

Like he would also want to stay inside all day but that’s not good for your health

Drags pap along so he gets some air from time to time

Sans’ room is tidy enough

Bed and exercise equipment

No need to have a facade at home

Uses pap as an excuse to not have ppl over

Happy (late) birthday to the guys! Swap has always been under appreciated to me in the fandom but I’m happy there’s been a resurgence for him. Ink is always an interesting character to study and I hope more people study his relationship with us (the artists/fan base).

I did @yeosin-n ‘s design for Swap/Blue which they’ve named Cadet and I love them a lot. They so often look irritated but I want them to have one good day (before getting into a cake fight with Ink and being mad their battle armor now has crumbs and frosting everywhere).

I also hc Ink as pretty short (at least compared to most popular multiverse Sanses) so Cadet gets to show off his strength and carry him

My favorite detail is I have their signatures on the photo card but they swapped pens :3

Shoutout as well to Outer and Fresh who I tried to draw but just couldn’t so there’s doodles to compensate. Zoomed in versions below, feel free to use as reaction images (with credit)

This marks the first episode after another long hiatus. Unlike last time, this one has no in-universe explanation.

The marks the debut of Ingrid in It’s Color Theory and Geneva overall, the latter having never appeared in Rough Sketch. Ingrid and Geneva were initially intended to be introduced in separate, back to back episodes. The two became inseparable in the interim and debuted thusly.

Siren also debuts after having previously only appeared in the noncanon pilot.

The time between episodes results in a number of design changes between characters: Violet has a lankier design, Peony has a chubbier build, J. has a different hoodie, Gordon’s hazard symbol has a shine effect, and Martin’s sleeves are a different color. The season’s plot also becomes far grander in scope, having initially been planned solely to introduce the cast.

As of this episode, all the characters’ “dialogue” consists of Pokémon cries.

This episode returns to the 2x2 format of the first episode.

The characters’ badges no longer appear on the text boxes, but they notably don’t appear over their intro splash texts yet.

Oz Square, one of seven subdivisions of Dullsville is first mentioned here before debuting properly in the following episode. The Void Between Voids, the subconscious place where Violet was initially introduced to the fourth wall, physically appears for the first time.

No Green, Orange, or Gray Drewmans appear in this episode. Gordon is the only Drewman present to not be in Red, Blue, or Violet Types.

Formblende appears initially with a distinctly humanoid shape, then grows horns all over his body, and finally morphs into a monstrous version of Martin’s face due to the latter cutting her dream short. This shapeshifting power is unique to him and isn’t shared by the other

I honestly feel like a broken record - Subjangle gets a lot of print here. But I just can't ignore how great Hero No Hero sounds. Subjangle really lives up to the jangle part of their name and "Pacific Standard Time" is no exception.

Hero No Hero (Los Angeles, California) are two people who have been in other bands over the years (the Bandcamp page mentions Starry Eyed Cadet, Falconet, The Churchill Garden, The Icicles, and The Blue Herons). I would say that this made me immediately think of C86 - specifically BMX Bandits. But they also sound like The Beefields, who I just recently learned about.
