ホンダは9月7日、2025年から北米市場で販売する電気自動車（EV）において、テスラ方式の充電規格である「NACS（North American Charging Standard）」を採用すると発表した（ホンダ、carview!、clicccar.com、日経新聞）。 ホンダは7月、BMWグループ、ゼネラルモーターズ、ヒョンデ、キア、メルセデス・ベンツ・グループ、ステランティスの合計7社で、アメリカとカナダにおけるEV用高出力充電網を新たに構築する合弁会社設立に合意していた。この合弁会社で従来からのアメリカ規格であるCCS（Combined Charging System）と北米で主流となりつつあるテスラ方式急速充電規格（NACS）に対応することを表明していたことから、NACS対応は既定路線と見られている。 この発表により、テスラ方式は北米市場における主要な充電規格の地位を確立しつつあるようだ。ホンダに先行する形で日産も2024年以降の「アリア」にNACS充電アダプターを提供する予定を発表している。ただし、NACS規格の普及は北米市場に限定される可能性が高く、今回のホンダと日産のNACS規格採用は、北米市場への最適化の一環でしかないとみられている。
