Thinking about that fine line Jonathan walks re: Lonnie's impact on Will. Wanting to insulate Will from Lonnie's rejection and soften that blow as much as he's able, but not wanting to give him false hope and feed a dangerous fantasy where Lonnie has a place in his life.
Because who wants to look into those big, sad eyes and tell their little brother that Dad doesn't love him? That he will never care, and that Will is nothing to him. But he also wants Will to be prepared, and he doesn't want to lie to him. He respects this kid and he wants to impress that upon him--the world may not, but Jonathan will always respect his intelligence and ability to think for himself, and he will nurture that, would never hamper it even supposedly for Will's own good.
So he makes it about conformity. There's a life lesson in that. It's not just that Dad doesn't give a shit--it's that Will should be true to himself because fuck everyone who doesn't see it that way.

even after everyone seeing pepito sleeping out in the open today im still so worried for pepito, man. the ones who are most concerned and those who are on at the times pepito is normally, are all also ones that absolutely are going to be prioritizing their own eggs with this new system this week. even after seeing pepito there, they still trust roier to not let this egg die. they know he can be a good parent. they have no idea how dire the situation really is.

You get born in this world and right off the bat you're taught you exist to please your parents, and you will in fact, be punished if you don't please your parents. And you don't even know what this means, all you know is that if those people abandon you, you die (they don't tell you about human rights). So you please them and it's never enough and you always get punished regardless of how hard you try and you feel like a failure and like it's your fault that you're not good enough to deserve to be alive.
And then when you reach out beyond your parents and try to feel out what is true, the society comes back at you with 'If you feel anything else but overwhelming gratitude and love for your parents then you are a selfish and unkind person' and it messed you up! Because you did once love them, and they did so much, for so long, in order to destroy that love within you, they forced you to live with survival instincts only, they made your world into nothing but hatred and injustice, and you can't love what has been trying to kill you and made you suicidal.
And by then the entire conversation about the abuse they inflicted on you got side-tracked and you spent the entire thing again, analyzing why you're not good enough, why you don't feel how it's socially acceptable to feel, what you need to change in yourself and examine in your own feelings, and all that time the abuse goes unchallenged, unacknowledged, unpunished. You just live with the consequences all your life, always pushed to examine yourself more when you want to bring it up.

QAnons are so fucking insane. Don't be surprised if you hear "QAnon man killed person because their child was throwing a tantrum in Walmart" in the future.
I mean, some of them already killed their own family. What's stopping them from killing others?
Sources for that claim: Igor Lanis and Matthew Taylor Coleman

Hey, since there is someone arguing that hitting your kids is actually not abuse because some cultures normalize child abuse:
Just because abuse is culturally accepted, doesn't mean it's not abuse!
Hitting your kids teaches them that hitting people is how to process and handle your emotions. It teaches that they deserve to be hit, and that they can't trust the people that are supposed to love them.
Neglecting your kids literally changes their brains.
I do not care how mainstream the idea of slapping your children is in your culture, it's abuse-- I am not judging your culture, I am judging abusive behavior.
This is not a "privileged American opinion".

i guess you could call this a vent or whatever but im going to tell you about something that has been making me crazy lately
so when i was like 3 i took a serious blunt force blow to the forehead. our house had hardwood floors and my brother had left a sock on the floor and i slipped on it and hit my head on the rounded corner of our oak coffee table. it left an inch long open wound and i was completely dazed and unresponsive, but conscious.
here is where i start getting frustrated. my mom didnt call 911 or take me to the ER, she took me to our family pediatrician. already really questionable imo but it gets worse. so ive got this gaping hole in my forehead and im unresponsive right? so what do they do? sew my forehead shut right there in the pediatricians office while i watched. didnt give me any anaesthetic or anything because i was, again, completely unresponsive.
then my mom was like "okay you arent bleeding anymore, can i leave now so i can go see the play i wanted to see?" but at this point im screaming and crying because im a toddler with fucking brain damage and a stitched wound that still hurts.
so she just took me home and that was that. and then for months afterwords she couldnt get me to wake up in the morning so she stuffed my limp body into my school clothes herself and took me to preschool half asleep. and then nobody ever spoke about it again except to make jokes.
its been two decades and i am only now realizing that ive had serious brain damage the whole time. my mom and brother have been shaming and belittling me for years for displaying symptoms of the brain damage that they gave me. my mom calls me a fucking spaz and my brother is pissed because he thinks i get "special treatment" instead of realizing that i need more help because he gave me brain damage. its like the final puzzle piece that explains why my life is such a mess.
and im just so overwhelmed by the fact that my mom and brother are directly responsible for the immense suffering ive endured over the past 20 years. all my health problems, the mental illness, the inability to avoid being abused, its all because of the brain damage. and they keep making fun of me for it. im not even mad im just. horrified. the sheer negligence of it all makes me sick. how many people like me are out there suffering from old brain injuries they didnt realize they had?
its like my brain cant even comprehend how fucked up the whole situation is. which is why im here telling it to you in the hopes that you will agree that its very bad 🙃
This is abuse and neglect on a level that no one and nothing could ever justify and I am so, so sorry that this happened to you. You deserved SO much better! ❤️

Thirteen hours.
It’s been thirteen hours since Scarecrow escaped Arkham. Nobody knows where he is, nobody knows his plans, and nobody knows when they will take place. All they know is that it’s going to be bad.
From what little you can see on the security footage, Scarecrow is pissed. The kind of pissed where he attacks orphanages and playgrounds instead of office buildings and warehouses.
And it's been
Thirteen
Hours.
[CW below the cut: mentions of bullet wounds, stitches. Screaming. Lots of screaming. Mentions of torture, especially in a medical setting, mental torture, mention of child torture, the chick is Creepy but doesn’t do anything SA-y but I’m gonna mention it just in case, mention of being trapped, mention of “the box” that might set off claustrophobia, being a self sacrificing parent, calling a child “it.”
Let me know if I forgot anything or if you spot an error]
————————————
Wil is almost relieved when Scarecrow finally surfaces. A typical attack on an occupied warehouse, one where the bats collectively decide that Hood and his henches have it handled and let them do their own thing.
When they arrive, they're not prepared for a firefight. They were expecting to see more people screaming on the ground from fear toxin than bullet wounds—they don't have enough medical supplies, and they certainly don't have enough ammo.
But they're Hood’s men. They claw their way to victory with bloodied hands. While they rush to save as many gunshot victims as possible, they don’t realize that they haven’t needed their gas masks yet. They don’t realize that Scarecrow isn’t done. Not until it’s almost too late, not until toxic green gas starts seeping up through the floor.
Beforehand, Wil is thinking about a large crack in the back of his boss’ helmit, where an enemy goon tried to knock his skull in with a metal bat.
After, Wil’s first thought is Aw shit, and his second is Holy shit boss’ ‘elmit is crack’d.
As he races over to where Hood is kneeling, stitching up a gunshot wound on one of Wil‘s coworkers, he mentally checks what all he brought with him.
Two gas masks and a rebreath’r. One mask got hit wit’ a stray bull’t, but the oth’r one and the rebreath’r ar’ fine.
When he finally, finally, arrives at Hood’s side, all he has time to do is stuff the mask in his face, say “Your ‘elmets cracked,” and stick the rebreather in his own mouth.
Ok, Terror Protocol.
-Ensure everyon’ dangerous ‘as a mask (Check)
-Find a mask fer yerself if ya can (His eyes scan the room, but everyone else had ta use ‘eir extras fer vict’ms)
-Leave if possible (“Boss,” calls anoth’r goon, we’re lock’d in from th’ outside.” Shit)
-Hand someone mask’d yer weapons (He starts throwing his guns and knives at Hood’s feet, desperately trying not ta pass out from the oxygen deprivation)
-Warn someon’ about triggers that could make ya violent (He feels his heart rate pick up as soon as he takes a breath of toxic green air. “Boz,” he chokes out, “k’p m’ aw’y fr’m med’c’l sh’t an’ an’on’ ‘n wh’te.”) [Boss, keep me away from medical shit and anyone in white.]
The Boss shouts something, but someone starts screaming with Wil’s next gasping breath and he can’t tell what was said.
Distantly, he recognises his own voice.
————————————
Riley hears Hood’s “Get us th’ hell outta ‘ere!” but only barely, because just as soon as he’s said it, someone starts screaming. The kind of screaming that reminds them of someone being tortured, taken apart slowly and never really put back together.
A second or two later, the sound stops—so abruptly they wonder if they ever heard it at all.
The other goons are searching for an exit or way to make one, so Riley looks for Hood, to see if he needs any help with whoever got dosed.
Fuck, they think, that’s Greenie.
Greenie, real name Wilbur Jacobs, has worked for Hood for three years. He started as a goon but worked his way up to the point where he’s now sixth in the hierarchy and even leads his own team of goons at times. He was actually the one to hire Riley in the first place.
(Greenie gets his nickname from a long conversation about the Green Lantern, where he made the joke “If ‘is ring runs on willpow’r, that mean I could control it? ‘Cause a my mast’ry of my own Wil-pow’r?”)
Greenie looks like shit. He’s shaking like a leaf in a hurricane; his hands are clasped in front of him like they’re cuffed there; his eyes are darting back and forth, scanning for hallucinated enemies, glassy, like he’s barely holding back tears, and terrified. Worse than Riley‘s ever seen in somebody who’s been fear-gassed.
Worst of all is the muttering.
It’s only partly intelligible, but that’s only because he’s spitting his words through his teeth, not moving his jaw at all. (Did he think he was muzzled?)
“Damn you. Damn you. You can’t have him. You won’t touch him-”
“Ma- no, ma please-”
“If you touch one hair on my son’s head, I’ll make the Alcatraz escape look like a petty quarrel. I’ll string you up by your intestines-“
“Don’t leave me alone Pa, please I’m sorry-“
“Don’t- don’t touch him. Please. Leave my son alone. I swear- I- I’ll stop fighting. I’ll go back. Just let him go. Please-“
Shaking themself back to the real world, Riley turns to Hood. “Antidote not work?”
“No- he’ll have to wait till the Bats get here so they can synthesize one.”
Greenie was screaming again.
“I think-“ the Boss cuts himself off, “I think this one makes you feel the pain. Not just in resurfaced memories either.”
Riley flinches at a particularly pained scream, “I think you’re right.”
————————————
No. Nonononono no NO
Not again. Please. This can't be happening again please no pleasenono-
“And here I thought three years was long enough to make you stronger. It’s a pity that you’re just as pathetic as you were before.”
No not Her pleasenotHerno-
“Stop screaming. Look at me.”
And he does and She’s just as crazed-excited-cruel-
“There we go.” And She turns off the machine and he can breathe-
“I’m thrilled you found yourself a little toy. A talon, impressive. I didn’t think you had it in you.”
“Damn you. Damn you.” he spits, “You can’t have him. You won’t touch him-”
“Have you already forgotten that you don’t get to tell me what to do, Subject g-7512?”
And then She had his ma’s face and he was being left again and he was only seven howcouldthey-
“Ma- no, ma please-”
“Aww. Calling for your mum again?” And She was Herself and his ma was gone-
“Bring it in,” She called, and Wolf and Snake were hauling something through the door-
Morel.
“If you touch one hair on my son’s head, I’ll make the Alcatraz escape look like a petty quarrel. I’ll string you up by your intestines-“
She tsks at him, “Threats? Again? Have you not learned from last time?” And he did and he still had the scars but that was his son-
“A week in the box.”
“You’re a disappointment, son.“ That was his pa, behind him, to the right. “I’m glad we left you in that alley. You’ve only ever been a worthless leech.”
And he can’t turn to face him and his pa always hated that-
“Don’t leave me alone Pa, please I’m sorry-“
“Don’t worry sweetheart, you’re not alone. You have me, and Wolf, and Snake- and the Talon of course. I wonder- should we return it to the Court, or do our own tests on it?”
“Don’t- don’t touch him. Please.” he begs, “Leave my son alone. I swear- I- I’ll stop fighting. I’ll go back. Just let them go. Please-“
She tsks at him again. Then motions for Wolf to turn the machine back on andhecantbreathe andhe’sscreaming andShetoldhimnotto andhecan’tstop
————————————
When he comes to he feels exhausted and his throat hurts and his boss is staring at him where he’s sitting in the dirt and-
The dirt? His boss? Wil stares up at the red helmet of the Hood and tries to ask what happened, but his voice doesn’t work.
“Don’t talk, Greenie,” Hood says, in lieu of a greeting. “Drink this.”
His boss hands him a thermos, which he finds is filled with Earl Gray tea.
The warm drink soothes his throat enough to croak, “Wher’z Mor?” [Where is Morel]
“Asleep. About 10 feet behind you,” Hood answers. “You gave us quite the scare.”
“Don’ wor’y,” WiI replies, ‘ad a ‘ell a time m’self.”
“What part of ‘don’t talk’ means ‘don’t shut up’?”
Wil smirks, and is going to try and croak out another answer, but instead gets tackled by his kid.
“Father,” they start, “Injured?”
“Sor’ an’ tir’d”
“Going home.” And then there's forty-five pounds of ex-assassin trying to drag him off in the direction of their apartment.
He gives his boss a look that says Pleas’ save me. But Hood just says “Good idea squirt, I was going to send you both that way in just a second.”
When they’re finally home, Wil puts on a happy, safe TV show, and wraps himself and Morel up in a blanket with a cup of tea. And even though the day was terrifying, and neither of them sleep, they have a good night and throw popcorn at the screen whenever the characters do something dumb.

A California surfing school owner who was charged with killing his two children in Mexico is a follower of QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories who thought the children "were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them," federal officials alleged.
Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, was charged Wednesday with foreign murder of U.S. nationals in connection with the death of his 2-year-old son and his 10-month-old daughter, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. Authorities said Coleman confessed to the killings and told the FBI that he used a spearfishing gun to stab them.
A criminal complaint alleges that he told the FBI that he killed his children because he believed they "were going to grow into monsters" and that conspiracy theories led him to believe that his wife had passed down her "serpent DNA" to the children.
Coleman's wife, identified only by her initials, contacted Santa Barbara police after her husband had taken the kids out on Saturday but didn't tell her where they were going, the complaint said. She grew concerned after he failed to respond to her messages, and, knowing that her husband didn't have a car seat with him, she called police.
A missing person's report was filed Sunday, and officers asked her to use Apple's Find My iPhone feature to see whether she could find Coleman, the complaint said. The program showed Coleman's last known location in Rosarito, Mexico, it said.
Police alerted the FBI to the investigation as it became a case of suspected parental kidnapping. Coleman was detained Monday after an inspection by border protection agents of his van upon his re-entry into the U.S., where agents didn't see his children and found blood in the vehicle, authorities said.
The complaint alleges that Coleman confessed to the killings upon being interviewed Monday and gave authorities the location of the murder weapon and the discarded bloody clothing. He also identified two bodies recovered by Mexican authorities as those of his children, it said.
A judge ordered that Coleman be held without bond Wednesday and scheduled his arraignment for Aug. 31.
According to the complaint, Coleman said that he knew what he did was wrong but that "it was the only course of action that would save the world."
"Serpent DNA" is a likely to be a reference to the "lizard people" conspiracy theory, which falsely purports that reptilian aliens secretly run the world and have taken over important positions in government, banking and Hollywood.
The complaint says Coleman told authorities that he learned about "serpent DNA" through QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories, even though the lizard people conspiracy theory predates both by several decades.
The believers in each conspiracy theory have melded together over the last several years because conspiracy theory influencers and algorithms on social media frequently lump the theories together.
QAnon is a more recent conspiracy theory premised on the belief that a similar global cabal at the top of the U.S. government is secretly murdering and eating children and that Donald Trump was quietly working to defeat them during his time in office.
Anthony Quinn Warner, who bombed his own RV outside an AT&T building in Nashville, Tennessee, on Christmas Day, claimed that lizard people were taking over Hollywood and the U.S. government. Warner died and three other people were injured.

Remember when I got into that string of fights a while back because people were exposing their lack of ethics with incredible takes like:
Uther’s persecution of magic was totally justified because magic is dangerous! It corrupts people!
Merlin had no reason to be afraid of Arthur, he was just being irrational! It’s not like thousands of lives were at stake here! He owed Arthur his private information about how Arthur has unwittingly traumatized him!
Simultaneously, there’s no way Arthur could have known that magic isn’t inherently evil because he’d ~never~ seen magic used for good (despite events going as far back as 1x04 or even 1x03)
Merlin withholding personal information from the people who were a constant threat to his life for being “born wrong” was morally repugnant! He should’ve exposed himself with the information his oppressors would kill him for, to give them a chance to change their minds! There’s totally no other way they could form different opinions!
Arthur deserved to know about Merlin’s magic, despite his condemnation of all things magic which threatened Merlin’s safety, because Arthur was kind or merciful in so many things except, noticeably, magic! Merlin should’ve trusted him!
Uther and Arthur are the REAL victims of the people who they oppress, so they have no choice but to slaughter thousands, children included!
Those were certainly times.
I remember saying at one point that if I knew someone was homophobic, I simply wouldn’t come out to them as gay, because they haven’t earned my trust in that regard. Anything they’ve done for me, they did while believing me to be straight. They likely wouldn’t treat me the same if they knew. Likewise, if a gay person had abused them at one point, it still wouldn’t give them the right to stereotype all gay people as abusive, or to support anti-gay campaigns. Homophobia has no justification. It’s just bigotry.
I said this multiple times, but every response was: “Well that’s different! Magic is actually dangerous!”
Here is what I said (paraphrased):
“If the potential dangers of magic were really the problem—and not just Uther’s excuse to justify banning it—then Uther could always just ban certain spells instead of committing genocide. Same with Arthur, really. But these characters wrongly believe that magic is inherently corrupt, because that worldview is easier to swallow than the hard truth.
“Criminalizing magic is like blaming massacres on all tools when they’re only performed with particular weapons: should whisks be considered a danger because some people murder with military grade assault rifles? Clearly, banning whisks doesn’t solve the problem. Likewise, when a sorcerer gets executed for using magic in the kitchen, Uther has effectively equated this harmless act to malicious crimes like murder. Was there ever a problem with magic itself, or does Uther perhaps have ulterior motives for banning it?
“If murder is already illegal, then banning murder by means of magic is unnecessary—all forms of murder, magical or not, are illegal by default. Making magic illegal does not prevent crimes that are already illegal; it only criminalizes innocent magic use, which means that people are prosecuted and found guilty for anything from using magic for chores to simply being loosely associated with a magical person.
“Uther’s laws helped no one but himself, because they weren’t designed to serve any other purpose. Nothing was accomplished, except that dehumanizing crimes such as trafficking and murder became legal as long as the victim had magic.”
To this, I was told that I “wasn’t understanding.”
What wasn’t I understanding? That people genuinely believe the ban on magic was okay? That they don’t have the slightest inkling of how oppression works, or how their justifications for hypothetical scenarios show their gullibility to real world bigotry? Why even bother defending a fictional character’s fictional genocide?
The ban on magic is ultimately a metaphor for the persecution of a marginalized religion (it’s literally called “The Old Religion”). To support Uther’s (and Arthur’s) claims that magic is inherently dangerous—despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary—is worrying at the least, considering the real life ramifications of fiction.
If you’re forsaking your morals to defend the inexcusable actions of a fictional character or two, then you value your entertainment more than real human lives. Likewise, you shouldn’t excuse any form of bigotry just because you like the person who is perpetuating it. If you can’t even stand by your supposed morals when it comes to fictional characters, there is no chance you will stand by them with real people. Most Arthur stans like him because they believe in his capacity for change, but this acknowledges that he is wrong and needs to change. The less like Uther he is, the better! My Gwaine-stanning is also reliant on him changing his views and accepting responsibility for them. We don’t get to make excuses for their unfair biases!
Merlin and other magical peoples are the victims of their oppressors, not the other way around. It really is that simple, and it pains me to see the hoops people will jump through to dismiss this.

Aren loves his Dad, he does. But sometimes he has these conversations in his own head that maybe, it's alright to hate him a little. He quit being a delinquent when he had Aren so why would he let his own son go down the same path? If he loved him so much then why would he hit his kid and continue that until he grew up? Aren has this little dilemma and hates himself for thinking that about his own Father and beats himself up for it. One time the thoughts in his head gets so bad, he starts to tense and tries to stop himself from crying, he keeps berating himself that he should stop crying, that he shouldn't cry. But the tears kept coming and he hates himself even more. He's guilty for having this much hate for his Pops but he's so angry and hurt and he feels betrayed when he realizes all of this. In the end, because of this abuse that came from his father, he can't bring himself to hate him because he actually loves the guy and would rather hate himself than think that about the man that raised him. (some little good 'ol angst for me and you since you got me on the Rean Kuboyasu hate train)
*explodes*
(Side note happy birthday!! Idk if it’s today still but I hope your bd was/is amazing :))
This is so good, and very true. A lot of the times, with people who have cared for us, we see of it less of our right and more as a transactional thing, where we owe them now that we can pay them back. People don’t like change, and having to change your perception of someone is hard. It’s easier to hate yourself than hate them because the seeds for punishing yourself have already been planted by them.
I think for Aren especially it’s hard because all he knows is violence. He shouldn’t have been through any of it, but going through it at home probably solidified the idea that this was normal and okay. Everywhere for him was a battlefield, even at the place he was supposed to be kept safe.

CONTINUNITY (PT. 2)
As mentioned here, Maiz originally had a set end. This changed due to in-universe interactions with other muses and the choices she made-- so much so that it no longer applies to her in the manner it once did. Instead, she now has a choice (albeit unknowingly) to create a better ending for herself or not.
SUPER ERA (EXPLANATION):
It goes without saying, but again for those in the back-- Trunks (@peoplcshope) had a mission. He didn't complete it*** buuuuuuut:
Because he didn't, he actually (indirectly) prevented the abysmal future that awaited her and the greater DBS continuity. Kinda**. The version of Maiz 'responsible' for the events leading up to that catastrophe is dead already. Killing Maiz in the present wouldn't have done anything -- 'cause here's the kicker-- she didn't cause the war between Universes 6 and 7. Her slaves did; their descendants, in particular. Somewhere down the line, she was successful in obtaining a thirteenth and fourteenth planet. Her empire spread so wide that she had to conquer an extra world than necessary. She set up a complex system that allowed them to 'self-govern' but only according to her guidelines. To her rules. To her liking. Some 'space years' after this, she dies. The slaves left with her instructions know what to do, but they were so mind-broken and without personal will/identity that the Council of Fourteen became stagnant not so long after her passing. They fell apart without their tyrant to lead them. To grieve, some killed themselves. For the ones who were left, they tried to bring her back to life. Nothing worked. Over the years, they fell into disarray and further madness. They split the Council. One half went against Maiz's orders and began mindlessly invading and conquering planets under the protection of the Galactic Patrol. The other half mastered interdimensional travel and opened a portal to Universe 6, spreading Maiz's teaching and severely warping the tenets of Saiyan Culture into what it wasn't. This earned the attention of the Pride Troopers, who received distress signals. The slaves here took on the identity of Maiz themselves, while the ones who remained in Universe 7 called themselves her descendants, then later "her reincarnations". Long story short, the Galactic Patrol and Pride Troopers had different ideas of dealing with this invisible, sudden threat as neither of them wanted to get their respective GoDs-- or worse, the King of All involved. They launched a counterattack that forced them to take 'sides'/set up base on different planets/parts of the Galaxy on such short notice, kicking off the space war. The cosmic and spatial walls separating both Universes were cracked. Universe 7's Earth was caught up in the crossfire and subsequently destroyed.
The scenario detailed below is a hypothetical** future. It inspired the above scene! I can't take full credit for it because it came through a conversation I had with another mun-- @roseplendence.
Depending on how close they got (platonically or otherwise) before this conversation, Maiz would not only know of Black's former occupation but his identity and the source of many miseries in the Universe: the Kais not being able to intervene and the laziness of many Gods of Destruction. This information would come up as a sidenote for her questioning her existence; why is it she got to live when nobody else did? Who decided the Saiyans should all destroyed at once? (It was the closest she ever got to venting about anything-- she doesn't normally do that). Black, through a misunderstanding thought she was blaming him/his kin, and told her how things actually worked and then . . . came to regret it. Sure, he ended up venting as well-- and then apologized for it, but he wasn't expecting her to go and do something about it. To his dread and horror, Maiz intends to use power of spite and anger to avenge both her and him. This puts her within the path of Beerus, who deletes her and all of her incarnations. Permanently. If it was romantic, he would've fallen into a deep depression and steered clear of people for a while. He's long-lived so a while . . . really means that for him. Wracked with guilt and remorse, he would also not take in any students for the same amount of time if it was platonic. Either way, she's mourned.
To reiterate: the above scenario is HYPOTHETICAL! It doesn't happen, so don't be too sad!
The reason why it's mentioned is because-- *drumroll* of the section below!
Tumblr media
DEATH OF A DESPOT:
These two scenarios have one thing in common: Maiz's death & the impact of it. So remember at the beginning I mentioned she was originally meant to die horrifically? The thought experiment with Black is the closest scenario to that vision, except she was all alone with nobody to mourn/care about her. The reason why it's no longer canon/necessary for her (aside from muses and interactions swaying my heart) is because I re-remembered at the time that RP is collaborative writing. If Maiz did not have any of the interactions or ships she did, I have no doubt in my mind her ending would be worse and her character would've developed differently.
Anyway, her death can still happen, but it's moreso entirely dependant on the other muse(s) and the circumstances now than me coming in pre-determined about a desired outcome (I'm actually happy about this if you couldn't tell. I have more stories to explore which is always a good thing! *Thanks mutuals for opening my eyes*). With this said, I have approximately three verses where she's dead-- one was talked about before in a prior post, the other two are derivatives**/possible scenarios from the Future DBS storyline/AU.
Fun fact: The concept of Rengakura (this TOTALLY ✨sane✨ goober who's not crazy at ALL) came from this storyline.***
Tumblr media
***Maiz posed an ultimatum to Trunks-- if he couldn't stand the way she rules, he should shut up and do something about it. If Jay had his Trunks pick the wrong move . . . the bad future would've been triggered AUTOMATICALLY. I expected the worse but the bastard (I say this lovingly) was intelligent enough/surprised me so I had to improvise. Instead of bloodshed, carnage, doom and disaster-- what happened was Trunks being assigned the position of Maiz's Ambassador. He actually put his mouth where his money was. Even Maiz wasn't expecting him to actually go for the option he did. 😭 You know what happens when Maiz likes you enough and you exceed her expectations? No? Go ask Trunks why he's a dad. I dare you.
Back to the point-- because the above factors are in play, the two possibilities aren't accessible. Buuuuuuut, they were fun to think up, so I'll briefly go through them anyway! (>:3) If the unsavory future is triggered/activated, and Ren is present, two scenarios are likely:
{SON OF A CONQUERER}: Trunks tries harder to get Maiz to care about the impact of her actions. Not to redeem her but to try and appeal to her maternal instincts. "He shouldn't grow up surrounded by death and destruction." Something like that. She, surprisingly, would listen and think about it. Fast forward some 'space years'-- their son is eight. In the midst of liberating a planet from her rule, something goes wrong and Trunks' worse fears come to life. She is killed during a long, exhausting fight by the subjects she once subjugated, and Ren watches from a bad angle that incriminates a frozen, shocked Trunks. His heartache increases when he's angrily confronted by Ren, who accuses him of not doing anything. Trunks tries to explain what happened but his son isn't hearing it-- Ren vows to kill him to avenge his mother and flies off to presumably train for that particular goal in mind. He tries to look for him but unfortunately, Ren's inherited his mother's uncanny ability to hide/suppress his ki. In this verse: Maiz's army has been more than halved, so they're not a Universal threat but the other parts (the schism which divides them, the suicides and mass loss of identities) happen. Trunks sadly has to deal with that all on his own, on top of mourning his wife. He doesn't meet Ren again until he's a teenager. They fight-- Ren, eagerly, Trunks, reluctantly. He'll beat him up but he's not killing his damn son.
{BREAKER OF CANON}: The above but instead of Ren confronting Trunks, he breaks down in tears and screams, making Trunks realize he'd been watching the entire time. He runs over and holds him close, apologizing for his weakness-- for not being able to save her life. Everything else follows-- the schism, the suicides and mass loss of identities. Trunks orders Ren to stay close (to him) and stay inside as Maiz's empire crumbles without her. Despite his dad being King of the Council of Twelve (he gained the title when they were officially married), it seems as if Maiz was a special glue holding everything together. Hating to sit around and be useless, he makes a declaration: "I'm going back in time to save mother." Trunks immediately rejects it-- time travel got him tangled up with Maiz (and Cell... The Androids..... Etc) to begin with. There's no way in hell he's allowing his son to be subjected to anything like that. Plus, it's illegal. Not that it ever stopped Trunks but still. Ren, up until this point has been obedient as far as his parents were concerned. This is the first time he disobeys Trunks. In the dead of night when his father is exhausted, he tinkers away. He is desperate, traumatized, sad, scared and just wants his mom back. This eight year old makes a portable time machine (similar to the wrist device Trunks wore as a Time Patroller) and activates it. He leaves his father a note so he doesn't worry. Ren does not know how terrible his mother is before Trunks. He doesn't know how they actually met. He doesn't have a plan going in. He has no defense against Maiz, who is callously laughing at his pain and threatening to kill him: "I don't have a son. That implies I love someone and I don't. No one is worthy of me." She has no qualms brutalizing or eradicating a crying child, even if he clings to her leg, even if he suspiciously looks like her.
