Mugwort
Artemisia Vulgaris
Known as: Artemis herb, artemisia, artemisia herb, cingulum sancti johannis, felon herb, muggons, naughty man, old man, old uncle Henry, sailor's tobacco & St.John plant
Related plants: A member of the daisy family Asteraceae that consists of over 32,000 known species of flowering plants in over 1,900 genera within it such as chamomile, coneflowers, dahlia, daisy, dandelion, goldenrod, lettuce, marigold & sunflower
Parts used: Leaves & flowers
Habitat & cultivation: Common mugwort is native to Europe and Eastern Asia. Mugwort was brought into North America as early as the 1600’s for medicinal purposes. It spread throughout the Northeastern U.S. as a contaminant on ships and nurseries.
Plant type: Perennial
Region: 3-8
Harvest: The flowering tops of mugwort should be collected once they bloom or right before the blooms open. The leaves of mugwort plants should be collected before the plant flowers. Older leaves & flowers are significantly more bitter
Planting tips: Mugwort seeds can benefit from a special 1 to 2 week treatment called cold moist stratification prior to planting them & need cold weather to break down germination inhibitors. The seeds require light to germinate, so be careful not to cover them when planting. Mugwort does not like to be overwatered & is very drought tolerant. It is also an invasive weed & best kept in a container.
Medicinal information: Historically mugwort has been used in traditional systems of medicine in different parts of the world. Today, mugwort taken orally is promoted for digestive problems, irregular menstruation, and high blood pressure. It is also promoted as a sedative, laxative, anti-inflammatory & liver tonic. Mugwort lotion applied topically can aid in itching caused by hypertrophic scars & When being smoked, it exhibits mild intoxicating properties & strong relaxing properties.
Cautions: Mugwort should not be taken by pregnant people because it may start menstruation and cause the uterus to contract. Little is known about whether it’s safe to use mugwort while chestfeeding. Mugwort might cause an allergic reaction in people with pollen sensitivities

How to Use Herbs : Rosemary
Hwello there. We have talked about rosemary and its uses in a previous post. If you haven't read it, please click here: Rosemary
Now I shall provide some spells, tonics, recipes and etc on where you can utilize it. Let us begin :)
Tumblr media
Author's Note: From I noticed a part is usually a teaspoon. You can add more according to your needs, but I would always start with that measurement first.
Alchemist Formula for Binding:
One part benzoin gum (Saturn, binding)
One part patchouli (Saturn,binding)
One part Solomon's seal (Saturn, protective)
One part rosemary oil (Saturn, protective)
One part frankincense oil (Sun, success)
Mental Focus Magical Tea:
I part rosemary
1/2 part spearmint
1 cup of boiling water
Mix herbs in a small jar
To brew, pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of the herbal blend.
Steep for 5 - 7 minute. Strain and drink.
Spells:
Remembrance for Lost Love (Heartache Healer)
6 drops of rosemary oil
3 drops of peppermint oil
1 drop of lavender oil
White candle
Add the oil to the top of the candle, one at a time, in a clockwise direction around the wick.
LIght the candle and gaze into the flame
Visualize your fond memories of the person who left your life. As you do this say, "I thank you for the time we had together, I thank you for the love we shared, I thank you for being an important part of my life. We have parted, we move on, we remember. I wish you the best life has to offer and hope you have found happiness."
Allow the candle to burn out of its own and dispose of the remaining wax away from your home or bury it in the spot you and the past partner enjoyed together.
Broom Cleansing Spell
Use one or any combination of the following botanicals: broom, cedar, fennel, hyssop, rosemary, sage, vervain.
Arrange the botanicals and tie them to the bottom of a branch withraffia, visualizing, charging and knotting. (Any branch may be used, however an ash branch is considered particularly powerful.)
Sprinkle with salted water or any preferred purification formula.
Sweep the area.
Disassemble the broom outside, away from the cleansed space.
Bury the components in the ground or toss them into living waters, flowing away from you.
Ghost Keep Away Spell (Boundary Line Spell)
Place three peeled cloves of garlic in a bowl, together with one handful of sea salt and one handful of fresh rosemary leaves.
Grind and mash the ingredients together.
Sprinkle them to create a boundary, as needed.
Bad Habits Bath
Add the following to a tub filled with warm water:
Essential oil of clary sage
Essential oil of frankincense
Essential oil of lavender
Essential oil of lemongrass or May Chang
Essential oil of rosemary
Enter the bath and inhale the fragrance, and accompany with affirmations and positive visualizations.
Kitchen Witch Recipes:
Super-Quick Bonus Recipe for Gwion’s Red Onion Pickle Bliss
Fills one pint-sized jar
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes, plus 30 minutes to cool in the fridge
1 medium red onion
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup water
10 black peppercorns
2/3 cup white wine vinegar,
rice vinegar, or apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 sprig rosemary
1 clove garlic, peeled and halved
Slice the onion very thinly and place it in your clean, dry jar. Set it aside.
Add the rest of the ingredients to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil until the sugar has fully dissolved. Stir carefully so you don’t break the rosemary. The sprig is in there to add flavour, and you’ll discard it before the next step.
Let the pickling mixture (the water, vinegar, and spices) cool down for about 10 minutes. Discard the sprig of rosemary and pour the remaining
ingredients into the jar of onions. Make sure all of the onions are submerged
in the picking liquid. If you have to, use a spoon to push the onions down in the jar. Seal the jar and put it in the fridge to cool. The onions are ready to eat once they are cool, about 30 minutes.
Serve them on avocado toast, burgers, salads, or just with a fork straight out of the jar. Remember to kiss your partner or partners before eating the onions out of the jar, unless they’re into pungent kisses.
Goat for a God: Roasted Goat Leg with Grape Molasses
Great for Deities: Dionysus, Pan and Thor
Serves : 6
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes
1 goat leg (about 3 pounds)
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons black pepper
4 tablespoons grape molasses
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon coriander
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
1 cup white wine + one glass for sipping and toasting while cooking (use mead if you're cooking this for Thor)
1 bay leaf
2 large carrots, chopped into
1" chunks
1 celery root, peeled and chopped into 1" cubes
Open the bottle of white wine or mead and take a hefty drink. (This is optional but deities do like when you drink with them but they can respect if you don't partake.)
Preheat the oven to 375° F.
Liberally season the goat leg with salt and pepper.
Rub the minced garlic all over the goat leg too. If it helps, poke a few holes in the goat leg so you can get the garlic right into the meat.
Place the rosemary sprigs and bay leaf in the bottom of a large roasting pan and put the goat leg right on top. Add the carrots and celery root around the edges. Pour the olive oil all over the goat and rub it around. Coat the carrots and celery root too.
Pour the white wine around the bottom of the roasting pan.
Loosely cover with kitchen foil and put the whole pan into the oven for 2 hours.
About an hour and forty-five minutes into the cooking process, it’s time to make the glaze.
Mix the grape molasses—which is a super-condensed syrup made of grape must—in a bowl with a tablespoon of olive oil, the coriander, and the cumin. You can substitute honey for the grape molasses if for Thor.
At the two-hour mark, pull the roasting pan out of the oven and paint the goat with the grape (or honey) and spice glaze.
Pop the goat and veggies, uncovered, back into the oven for another 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches at least 145° F.
When you’re ready to serve this dish, scoop the veggies into a bowl (fornow) and put the goat leg on a platter. If you have access to one, get a cedar plank and serve the goat on it.
Medical Tonics and Infusions:
Infusion- An infusion is the simplest way to prepare the more delicate aerial parts of plants, especially leaves and flowers, for use as a medicine or as a revitalizing or relaxing drink. It is made in a similar way to tea, using either a single herb or a combination of herbs, and may be drunk hot or cold.
Pot Infusion
For a cup:
1 tsp (2–3 g) dried or 2 tsp (4–6 g) fresh herb (or mixture of herbs) to a cup of water
For a pot:
20 g dried herb or 30 g fresh herb (or a mixture of different herbs) to 2 cups (500 ml) of water
Warm the pot, then add the herb.
Pour in water that has just boiled, replace the lid, and infuse for 10 minutes.
Strain some of the infusion into a cup. A teaspoon of honey may be added if desired.
Storage:
Store in a covered jug in a refrigerator or cool place for up to 24 hours.
Tonic Making
Standard Quantity:
200 g dried or 300 g fresh herb chopped into small pieces to 1 quart (1 liter) alcohol—vodka of 35–40% alcohol is ideal, although rum hides the taste of bitter or unpalatable herbs
Standard Dosage:
Take 1 tsp (5 ml) 2 –3 times a day diluted in 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp (25 ml) of water or fruit juice.
Place the herb in a large, clean glass jar and pour on the alcohol, ensuring that the herb is covered. Close and label the jar.
Shake well for 1–2 minutes and store in a cool dark place for 10–14 days, shaking the jar every 1–2 days.
Set up the wine press, placing a muslin or nylon mesh bag securely inside. Pour in the mixture and collect the liquid in the jug.
Slowly close the wine press, extracting the remaining liquid from the herbs until no more drips appear. Discard the leftover herbs.
Pour the tincture into clean, dark glass bottles using a funnel. When full, stopper with a cork or screw top and label the bottles.
Storage:
Store in sterilized, dark glass bottles in a cool dark place for up to 2 years. An amber glass jar is the best option.
Sorry this post is so long @_@ But please enjoy and use wisely. Bye byes~

RowAelin in falling in love with the palace healer? 👀 they are trained killers but god they can’t get enough of her? Sometimes even they will make sure that in the next sparing sesh that one or both of them gets hurt so they have an excuse to see her 👀👀👀👀 or even that at one point Aelin sees her helping somone else and gets jealous and straight up looks Rowan in the eye while she stabs herself and he’s like AH while running her to the healer while she smiles HEHEHEHHEH
any reason
Rowaelin x f!Reader
Summary: Aelin will find any reason to visit the palace healer.
Warnings: self-inflicted injuries, blood, not proofread as usual
A/N: I love this, Aelin is SO chaotic, it’s just a lil drabble based on part of the prompt! maybe i’ll write a longer version later, thank you for the request!
Aelin had a wicked look on her face as she raised her knife, flipping it in her palm.
“Aelin,” Rowan groaned. “Please don’t Fireheart.”
She shrugged, stabbing the tip of the knife into her forearm - in a completely non-lethal place, but deep enough it would require healing.
“For fucks sake,” he cursed under his breath as she wiped the blood off on her pants, heading directly for the healers quarters. One specific healer - that she knew was on duty. Then again, they both always knew when she was working. Aelin had even stolen a copy of the healer’s schedules.
He grumbled under his breath but followed after her. He wouldn’t turn down a perfectly good chance to see y/n.
-
“You’re ridiculous.” Y/n groaned as Aelin walked in with a grin on her face, holding her arm out. She sent the Queen a small smile.
“Careful how you speak of your Queen,” Aelin teased.
“Apologies, your Majesty.” She dropped into an exaggerated curtesy. “I swear, I think you do this on purpose sometimes.” She huffed, but gathered the necessary supplies. First, she carefully washed the wound - ignoring Aelin’s winces, before throwing a particularly strong cleansing tonic over it, and finally using her magic to heal the small but deep cut. She could’ve sworn Aelin let out a moan, and she ducked her head to hide the blush forming on her cheeks.
“How did you get that?” She asked, finally lifting her head to look at her. She spotted Rowan in the corner, leaning back against the doorway. Of course, she wouldn’t complain about seeing them - but sometimes she wondered why they didn’t just heal themselves or each other.
Aelin flicked her eyes towards Rowan, who pinned her with an exasperated look. Maybe it was self-inflicted.
“A secret,” she gave a small smile and y/n didn’t question any further.
“You’re all set,” she told her after examining the space one last time. No scar, either.
“I could kiss you.” Aelin hummed, and y/n shot an alarmed glance to Rowan, who only raised one brow, as if to say I don’t care. She swallowed and ignored it. The queen ran her hand down her forearm, squeezing her hand. “Thank you,” her mouth curved up at one side and y/n got the opinion Aelin knows exactly what her words and touch do to her. “See you next time,” she said cheerily, rising and leaving the room. Rowan gave her a polite nod, and followed her from the room.

Hi Wawa. I'm SEA diaspora Chinese and like many east asians I'm lactose intolerant. Not that I knew what that was until I was like 17. When I told my parents hey it's not normal for dairy to make you feel like that, they just said but milk is supposed to do that.
A mainland Chinese friend also said oh yeah my parents think milk is healthy because it makes you 'expel' all the bad stuff in your body.
So is this milk is a delicious cleansing tonic belief common among Chinese people?
Psh I've never heard anything about milk as a cleansing power lol. My parents didn't even really eat straight up dairy before immigrating to the U.S, and you'll find that dairy products have not really become more widespread in China until recently. Something like 90% of East Asians develop lactose intolerance in adulthood (that's what happened to me; I became lactose intolerant in my teenage years after like two years of not really eating dairy).
My parents are also lactose intolerant but neither of them were under the impression that dairy was a colon cleanser or anything lol. It was more like "oh milk is healthy for you.... but watch out!", like in a "yah brazil nuts are tasty but if you eat a lot, all your hair will fall out and you might die" type thing. After I figured out what lactose intolerance was, I forcibly switched my mom over to lactose free milk and make her take lactaid for heavy creams. I think even a lot of Americans don't really know that dairy is not ~just supposed to~ make you bloat and vomit or get diarrhea or something (the same can be said about a lot of other food sensitivities like toward fructans, allium, gluten etc).
Anyway, to ramble a little more, in my experience, back just a couple of years ago, even sliced cheese was pretty hard to find at a Chinese store, and it was like a tiny expensive little pack in the foreign foods section at a big supermarket. Chinese people generally eat fermented dairy products like suannai (yogurt drink), or soy/grain milks. My parent's generation (1950s ish) didn't have dairy growing up and a lot of my older relatives think it's nasty/rank/sour and is the reason white people smell weird. The people I've seen nowadays seem more aware of lactose intolerance (i.e, "this is an adverse side effect" vs "that's just what happens") and the correlation between consuming a lot of dairy and sitting on the toilet for like an hour lol. I don't think it's really thought of as healthy BECAUSE it makes you empty your bowels. It's the bone health myth that Big Dairy pedals.

skincare day
leon sees you doing your daily skincare every day, until he finds the courage to ask you how to do it too.
word count: 883
Leon yawned, waiting against the wall. The bathroom door was open, but he decided to wait outside. He was squinting his eyes trying to shake off the sleep, a white towel hanging from his shoulder. Inside the bathroom, you opened several products, the noise echoing throughout the room. He sneaks over to see what you were doing, finding a sight that made him let out a chuckle: his girlfriend, the toughest woman he'd ever met in his life, surrounded by face products and with a pink bow on her head that kept her hair out of the way. You turn to look at him, your face covered in a face mask. “Want me to apply it to your face too?” You ask, wanting to laugh, the already hardened clay of the product not allowing any facial movement. “No…I was just going to ask if you wanted to keep us here all morning.” He teases you, leaning against the wall in the corner. You just stare at him. “I’m almost done.” You respond, expressionless. He smiles, and examines the entire room, reading the names of the products you opened, raising an eyebrow.
The clock showed that the two were 20 minutes late when they finished getting dressed and Leon had won the fight he had with the buttons on his suit. He leans in for a kiss, hugging you from behind, his arms wrapping around you. You look at him above your eyelashes as he announces his victory against the piece of clothing. The smell of your primer was much more noticeable up close, and you push him away when you feel him smelling your face.
When the two leave his house, they set off on his motorcycle, ready for a meeting where they would be told what the duo's next mission would be. When they get back, they go back to his house, and he opens the door with tense shoulders. It was always this kind of atmosphere that hovered around when you had to go on another suicide mission in the middle of nowhere. You don't say anything, going to prepare whatever frozen food you found in Leon's fridge. It was already past eight in the evening. You heard him angrily undo the buttons, the fabric of his suit making a noise loud enough for you to know he was removing it. The water in the shower starts running after a brief moment, and you hear the noise while eating a microwave lasagna. He was taking too long and a silence took over the house after some time.
“Baby, I’m going to eat everything myself.” You say, loud enough for him to hear. No answer. Thinking that he had slept from being so tired in the bathroom, you get up and knock on the door.
"I'm almost…done." He says slowly. You get confused.
"Can I enter?"
“....mhm.”
You open the door. Leon stared at the sink mirror, his face covered in white clay. He tried to remove the blonde strands from his face, making a mess, getting his hair and hands dirty in the process. You cover your mouth with your hand, laughing.
"Yeah. You can laugh." He says. “Damn, this…dries quickly. How… do you use- this?” He asks innocently. You took a picture of that moment in your mind.
“You have to keep your hair out. And the sequence is wrong. You’re wearing the mask before you even clean your face.” You explain. It was something basic for you, but he looked at you as if you were explaining math to him.
“Listen…tomorrow I’ll teach you how to use it. Now come eat.”
The next morning, he made you keep your promise and you found yourself teaching him, in practice, how to do skincare. He reluctantly lets you demonstrate it on his face.
“First, you wash your face…” you explain. He crosses his arms as you pass by and lather up the cleansing gel, rinsing off afterwards. He shakes his head to get the water out. You take out 4 more products from the cupboard, and his eyes widen. He starts to leave the bathroom and you hold him back.
“Get me the cotton from the closet. I’ll put the facial tonic on you.” With a frown on his face, he hands you a small cotton piece, and you spread the product - which smelled like roses - on your boyfriend's face.
“This one is a primer.” You say as you open another product.
He looks at you.
“I'm regretting this idea.”
10 minutes passed, and he mentally made a list of everything he let you put on his face: cleanser, facial tonic, primer, exfoliant, facial mask, moisturizer and sunscreen. His face smelled the same as yours now. He comes out of the bathroom with a serious face and smelling good, assuring you that he only asked about the products to find out why you took so long in the bathroom every morning and at the end of the night.
As the days went by, your products started to run out very quickly, but they were replenished just as quickly, even if the last time you remember buying them was 2 months ago.
You solved this mystery every time he stole a kiss from you, his little face smelling like roses.

Hello and thanks for reading ♡ I don't know what to write in the author's notes. This was an idea I suddenly had after doing my skincare. I thought it wouldn't hurt to take advantage of this idea :D
I have other ideas to write about, like a movies day with Leon, a day of teaching him how to cook your favorite dish, things like that, from everyday life. I think they are the most comforting to read. Ty again ૮₍ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ₎ა

Character Jack Dawkins
Couple Jack X Reader
Rating Smut
I stood doing a little prep work for this afternoon's surgery sorting the tools I'd need, making sure I had a good sharp needle, a good pile of rags when I heard the office door open.
"Dr Dawkins, Sir?" His voice spoke up
"Ummm? What is it?" I asked turning slightly to see my small excuse for an assistant boy, he had a name... I just, can't remember what it is.
"it appears we may be out of some tonics sir."
"Out?"
"Yes sir."
"You checked the back of the storeroom?"
"Yes sir. Nothing. only a few empty bottles of painkillers and chloroform."
"Christ." I sighed setting my work down "Alright. I'll deal with it. You prep everything else for the surgery this afternoon" I told him taking off my apron and grabbing my jacket as I headed out of the office and out of the house.
I went through town begrudgingly arriving at the little shop with a dusty blue shop front and the painted lettering 'Y/l/n's' I sighed and opened the door heading inside the pharmacy, seeing the back wall littered with Tronics and potions, a cabinet of various items and her.
She stood behind the counter working on something inside a pestle and mortar with an apron over her long grey dress. She glanced up as the bell on the door tolled and immediately we were at odds with one another.
"Well. If it isn't the town Butcher" She said
"Big talk from the town witch" I snapped back
"Sociopath"
"Craven"
"Madman"
"crazy girl"
"What do you want Dawkins?" she glared "Or have you just come to cause me trouble?" She asked taking the powder she had been grinding and weighing it out on her scale adjusting it slightly
"I need some stuff. I have surgery this afternoon, It's a full leg amputation I'm going to need cleansing water, painkillers, a blood thinner, and likely some cloro and my storerooms out" I explained
"I see," she said taking her now-weighed powder and adding it to her small pill press slowly forming the powered into pressed tablets "That sounds like quite the problem"
"you know I can't do the surgery without them"
"No no that would be a terrible idea. Esspcaily for your white shirt" she giggled as she worked
"Do you have any in stock?"
"I might."
"Y/n" I complained "I need it for my surgery he'll be arriving in an hour"
"Ohh my, that's cutting it very close"
"Y/n. will you sell me the damn stuff." I told her and she glared "...Please"
“I suppose if it's an utter emergency I suppose I could spare a bottle or two” she smirked “if you beg”
“I'm not begging you. If rather just buckle belt the guy down then beg you”
“Suit yourself Dawkins” She shrugs
I grit my teeth and rolled my eyes doing my best not to be a dick “Please y/n. Please.”
“I can't hear you”
“Please y/n!”
“I don't know, how badly do you need it”
“Please y/n. I need it and you're my only option” I sighed
“Little louder?” She giggled “I couldn't hear that “
“I need it and you're my only option”
“And I'd say you're a pretty foolish boy for forgetting it” She smiled wickedly “Would you say so? Foolish boy?’
‘yes.” I sighed
“Yes, what?”
“I am foolish”
“And all together now”
“Please y/n you're my only option and I badly need it… and I am a foolish boy for not getting it sooner so can you please sell me the stuff?”
“Alright” she smiled fetching the things I needed from around her shop setting them on the counter between us and adding things up on her till "That will be sixteen dollars"
"sixteen- What! That's ludicrous!"
"Such are the prices, Doctor"
"How did you work that out?"
"Well we have all the items added together, then the bag charge as you can't carry all this just in your pockets doctor" she giggled "and then we have the emergency tax that's an extra ten per cent, Then the interrupting me tax, then the non-sale we're having this week where all times are actually ten per cent up their usual price, and of course the typical bottle fee's, cork fee's, air tax and the extra add a zero button because it's you doctor" She explained
"Even so that doesn't add right. That bottle says fifteen pence right on the label!" I argued
and her response to that was to take the label off the bottle and throw it behind her "Now it doesn't"
"And bottle tax! I returned all your bottles last I was here"
"You did, but they weren't clean"
"Yes, they were. I boiled them myself"
"One had a spot on it"
"if it had a spot on it, it had a spot on it when you gave it to me"
"Sixteen Dollars Dr Dawkins or get out of my shop"
"Fine. You wicked little thing" I complained getting my money
"I call it being a good businesswoman" She smiled
"Shit. I've only got twelve"
"Ohh my, what a shame guess no drugs for you"
"Y/n I need them"
"And I need to charge"
"I'll pay you the rest next week"
"I've heard that before"
"Y/n this is insane"
"Sixteen dollars or get out."
"All alright I'll let you borrow my tools without charge next time"
"Any tools I need?"
"....yes." I sighed
" So twelve dollars and free tool borrowing?"
"Only one tool y/n"
"you're still short."
"...and the usual."
"Alright" she smiled taking my dollar coins and putting everything into a bag for me "I want my tool borrowed in writing"
"Fine" I sighed I took her note and wrote her a pass for a free tool borrowing which she happily took before she jumped the counter went to the door locked it and turned the sign to closed
"Come on then Doctor" she giggled heading into the back so I slipped my jacket off and followed her into the back store room shutting the door behind me, she sat herself up on a cleared self so I went over to stand between her legs "so? I haven't got all day"
"Alright" I smirked pulling her into an intense kiss, as usual, our kiss was angry, and frustrating as we often were with each other but that only made it more aggressive and entertaining, we made out heavily for a few minutes my hands often taking grips of her hips, her ass and at times her breasts but she usual slapped my hands off if I tried to get at them anymore then just running my hand over them she grabbed my pants by the hem to tug me closer to her so I happily undid them for her as she tugged up her own dress until it was completely around her waist I pulled my erection out and stroked myself a few times before we moved and adjusted until I was inside her "Fuck-"
"Best hurry you have surgery later" she giggled
"Don't tell me what to do" I warned her holding her hips as I started my thrusts she giggled biting on my neck as I got faster and faster doing my best not to reveal how good it felt given it would only amuse her and I didn't want to give her the satisfaction and she didn't either but I know her well enough to know as she bites her lips and gasps quickly when she's close I knew I was close holding her tightly doing my best not to make any noise but she grabbed my shirt tight and tightened herself around me as she reached her orgasm "Fuck-" I groaned pulling out and finishing across her dress resting my hands on the wall and trying to get my breath back "You wicked little thing"
"Absolutely Doctor" she giggled fixing her dress and heading off back to the main shop I calmed down and followed her out getting my jacket and everything I needed for surgery and the store room "Have a good day" she smiled
"Thank you, you too," I told her taking my stuff and heading back home.

Prince of Hearts
Tumblr media
Pairing: Wonho x Male reader
Genre: Fantasy/Royal bodyguard (light smut & a small bit of yearning+a smidge of thin plot lol)
Summary: The head of your royal garrison works to uncover crimes against the crown. You fall for him in the process. But will he succumb to your advances?
Word count: 3,057 (about 4.5 pgs)
An attempt had been made on your life but you were only vaguely aware of this as the haziness in your head cleared. The aftertaste of the poisoned wine overpowered rational thought. But you didn’t need to use your mind, not with Lieutenant Lee standing watch. He was somewhere near, hovering in the margins of your vision. You couldn’t yet see him but you’d recognize his scent under any circumstance, even semi-conscious you could make out the soft notes of jasmine and hyacinth.
Among all your royal guards, he prided himself on hygiene and appearance the most. While others of your high garrison wasted their coin on gambling and drink, Lieutenant Lee preferred spending his stipend on finer things: the most luxurious imported silks, perfumed oils, cultural enrichment lessons.
“My lord, you must take water, and quickly. These foreign poisons are known to cripple if not properly flushed out of one’s system.” Lee had whispered these words to you in hushed tones, spoken in the Knight's Tongue—the formal language of those devoted in service to you. It was wise of him to speak it in the presence of so many foreigners, all of them now potential enemies, assailants. It was wiser still of Lieutenant Lee to have been so wary of this gala. Wary enough to have insisted you take an Immunity Tonic before leaving the palace. He had slipped it into your hands whilst dressing you, despite your protests. You had fussed and whined for you knew it to be bitter and unnecessary but he said nothing, merely stood resolute, brow quirked in that stoic, insufferable way of his. He’d aimed one of his cold glares at you until you’d forced it all down, wincing at the strong medicinal taste. You had cursed him then but gods you were grateful for it now. His paranoia had saved your life.
He stared down at you, cool and collected despite the chaos in the dining hall. Wide-eyed dignitaries and princes were scrambling in panic but Lieutenant Lee was unfazed as he tended to you, gently pressing the rim of a chalice to your lips, urging you to sip. You drank, and the water went to work at once, clearing your head, bringing you back to yourself. When the cup had been drained, you rose to your feet, somewhat unsteady as you gazed upon the sea of stunned faces.
“The prince is alive! Oh thank the—” you put your hand up to silence the baron, the sound of his voice was high and grating. Your ears couldn’t handle it. Nor could your eyes endure the pompous sight of him—dressed in loud, clashing colors of every print imaginable. You shut them, pinching the bridge of your nose as you leaned against Lieutenant Lee for support.
“Ready the horses,” commanded Lieutenant Lee, taking you by the arm and leading you away from the loud baron, who insisted upon shouting apologies at your back. It had been his gala, and you’d attended only at the bequest of your title. As crown prince and next in line for the throne, you could not dismiss the invitation of courtiers, no matter how lowly you deemed them.
Back at the palace, in your quarters, Lieutenant Lee tended to you, drawing your bath and laying out your night clothes. You had servants for this but he had not trusted you to be alone with anyone but him given your state, and had sent them away. A show of his fealty.
He peeled off your clothing with gentle hands. You stood naked and trembling before him. Shy, for he was fully dressed and resplendent in the gold and crimson uniform of a high ranking vassal. But he kept his eyes on yours, they did not dip any lower as he led you to the bath.
“I have compiled a list of possible assailants,” he said as he smoothed cleansing oils across your chest.
“Oh? Already?”
“Mmm.” You fought to keep from shuddering at this reply, it was a low rumble in his throat. A grunt really. There was something sinful about it and you felt a searing heat rush to your lower extremities. The water was opaque with suds from the cleansing oils, bless the gods. What rose underneath it could be seen by none, and felt only by you.
“Is the baron among your suspects?” you asked, shrinking from his soft touches, they were beginning to drive you mad.
“Of course. I’m calling a formal inquisition at first light. Your royal guard will be battle ready from here until the end of it—until whoever is responsible for this is caught.”
“Full armor? Really Lieutenant, is that necessary? I’m fine, I’m alright, not even a scratch on me.” You meant this as a joke but he merely glared at you as he lifted your arm, rubbing circles under it—you felt the heat of him even through the washcloth.
“I am the head of your garrison. I do not take assassination attempts lightly.”
“What of jokes? Can you take them lightly, or at all?”
He responded with another of his lewd grunts, licking his lips this time, dark eyes fixed on his task. Gods you were going to lose a load and soil the water. It was a small mercy that he was fully clothed, that you could not see his bare and chiseled form as he saw yours, here and now. Why did he have to be this way? So gods damned alluring and unattainable and—
No. No, no, no, no,no. You mustn't do this.
    “Are you alright my lord?”
    “What?”
“You look like you’re in pain.”
    “Oh, I’m—fine, I’m—”
“Come, you must rest now. The night has worn on you.”
You did not protest, and were in fact grateful to have been given an out.
****
The following morning you rose early, before the servants even. You had not slept well and headed for the temple to pray to the goddess for strength. You made a modest offering at her alter and left, nearly colliding with Lieutenant Lee as you stepped over the threshold. Of course he had followed you, why in heavens did you think you could escape his notice? He was something to behold in his armor. All of the skin and carved muscle you couldn’t see the night before was now on full display. Silver plates adorned his ivory skin and his dark hair gleamed like a lake at midnight reflecting the moon. He bowed, sword dangling from his hip—a warrior.
At the morning meal he had tasters sample your food for poisons before allowing you to eat. The baron’s son had journeyed overnight and joined you for the meal, bearing gifts of honeyed wine and laurels in apology. He was called Evander and had at one time, wanted your hand in marriage. But you had little in common and the union would have benefited him more than you. There was also the case of his dull personality and appearance—he wasn’t at all your type. Despite this, you still gave him your audience. After having eaten, the two of you strolled through the court gardens, the afternoon sun lending its summer warmth.
“I must once more apologize for what transpired at Father’s gala,” said Evander as the pair of you waded through a winding path of lilies.
    “You needn’t. I’m alright.”
“That lieutenant of yours,” Evander paused and threw a sidelong glance over his shoulder at Lee as he trailed behind you, “such quick thinking to have saved you like that.”
“Mm, I’m lucky to have him.”
    “Indeed,” muttered Evander.
“Luckier still that of all the nobility present that night, mine was the only meal to have been tampered with.” You regretted saying this, but much as you'd tried, you couldn’t help feeling jaded and indignant. Evander stiffened at this speculative slight.
“You’re angry. And rightfully so. But you don’t know how embarrassing this is for us, our family. Falling out of favor like this, it’s worse honestly than swallowing poison.”
“Is that so?” you quipped, barely suppressing a scoff.
“We’ve lost the trust of every nobility in the province.”
You rolled your eyes. “Some might say that is what you deserve.” Evander made a choked sound and stopped walking. More regret—it seemed a dearest companion of yours this day. “Listen,” you continued, “I’ve no ill will towards you. You’ve requested an audience and I’ve obliged. Surely this will be enough to lend back some of your credibility once word spreads of your being here.”
    “I—I suppose but—”
“My lord, you are expected in the drawing room for the oversight and signature of imported goods.” This was Lieutenant Lee. He stood beckoning you with that quirked brow of his—an expression he put on when trying to be authoritative. It worked and you went to him at once, offering a half-hearted farewell to Evander.
“You’re welcome to the east wing, stay as long as you need,” you called to him over your shoulder as you walked off.
The remainder of the day was filled with the usual tedium of princely duties. You performed dull tasks, one after another until night crept upon you. After a supper surrounded by Evander and his consorts in waiting, you found yourself alone again, undressing before Lieutenant Lee.
“Why do you insist on this? My servants will start a riot. They will think they are being displaced of their duties, turned out of the palace,” you huffed. Lieutenant Lee ignored you, stripping off your undergarment with the indifference of one changing a bedsheet. You wished you could do the same thing to him, and stood imagining yourself freeing him of his armor, running your hands along his stiff and bulging...
“In nudity you are most vulnerable. I don’t trust you under the watch of anyone but me. They are not as thorough as I am. They cannot protect you in an ambush.”
“Gods you’re overestimating my enemies. Whoever they may be, they’re cowards. They had to employ wines and posions to do the work of ending me. Couldn't even put steel to flesh like real men.” Lieutenant Lee chuckled at this and your heart quickened. That sound. Fuck, that beautiful sound. It did things to you, and when you were out of your clothes, you rushed to the bath, concealing yourself in the water.
He cleaned you with the same tenderness he had the night prior, sliding his large hands up and down the length of your torso, across the span of your chest. He did you the courtesy of letting you cleanse your privates on your own, but this did little to ease you—his presence alone was enough to send the blood pumping to your head—the one that didn’t do your thinking.
When you were clean, he fetched a cloth. You rose, shielding your steadily growing length from him. If he had noticed a change in you, he said nothing, merely covered you and led you back to your quarters. Then left you to stand guard outside your door.
There was a vial of oil stowed in your bedside table. You seized it and lay on your back. He was all you could think of as you worked to quell the aching throb between your legs.
The following day went much the same as the previous, and the next, and the next, and the one after. As did the nights. Each bath with him drove you a touch madder than the last. Not only for being so near to him, for breathing in the sultry scent of his perfumed sweat, but for the way he was so utterly unmoved by you, as if you were but a fixture on the wall, or a piece of furniture strewn about the palace. Something there and nothing more. You were certain he felt no throbbing, no ache or raging want to press his skin against yours.
Every one of your guards had a rumor or more about their escapades. They were all of them highly desirable men and women, selected for their skill, their charm, their devotion. Sarafine had seduced every maiden in the court with her sweet tongue and flowing braids. She had even tempted you. Maxim had wooed both men and women, sometimes even stealing away married nobles from their wives or husbands. There was sordid talk of almost all your garrison, save for Lieutenant Lee. It was as if he was made of stone.
****
Nearly a fortnight had passed and Evander had still not left the palace. Lieutenant Lee was deep in the inquisition all the while. He had ruled out many of his suspects and you were growing weary of seeing Evander sulk about the courtyards. You had resolved to confront him in private, and managed to sneak away from Lieutenant Lee’s prying eyes long enough to practice what you’d say to Evander aloud. You sequestered yourself in the great palace library, where no ears could overhear you. It was quiet, and carried the soothing smell of old pages. It was everything you needed. So silent and familiar it was, that you did not even notice the figure that crept behind you until their hands were wrapped around your throat. You felt the blade against your neck and panic overcame you.
“The baron sends his regards, and his sympathy for not ensuring your demise at the gala, it would have been a cleaner death than this.”
There was nothing you could do but pray to the goddess for a swift end. Whoever this was, had caught you completely off guard. You clamped your eyes shut, and braced for the pain.
But it did not come.
There was a loud shriek and the harsh sounds of fists against flesh, against jaws. You turned and saw Lieutenant Lee, panting over your attacker, sword drawn and already at his neck. You recognized the man as one of Evander’s consorts—a lord in waiting.
Lieutenant Lee did not relent his assault, even when the man was bloodied and beaten delirious. The rest of your royal garrison came in and carried him off so that you did not have to look upon him.
A short while later, Evander was jailed and a warrant of arrest was dispatched for his father, the baron. If you had been killed, your sister would be next in line for the throne—next in line to be courted by another of the baron's power hungry sons. The nerve of them, of Evander, after all the courtesy you had shown.
You could think of nothing but the injustice, and the fact that Lieutenant Lee had not said a word to you for the remainder of the day. He must have been angry with you for trying to shirk him. Even so, he had still sent the servants away, despite the fact that he had vanquished the threat upon your life. He bathed you in his normal, stoic fashion, but you flinched from him as he brought the cloth to your neck. A flashback of the attack had taken over you.
“You are still shaken,” he said, lowering the cloth.
“I’m alright. Or I will be, in time.”
He said nothing more and carried on in his usual way.
In your chamber he lingered, drying your hair with a cloth and checking the small cut on your neck where the blade had dug in. He spread a healing, herbal balm on it. Your eyes met, and held as the pad of his finger worked it in.
    “Th-thank you, for saving my—my—”
“You are my prince. It is my duty, my honor. I need no thanks.”
Something possessed you in that moment—perhaps it was the memory of him fighting so valiantly to save your life. Or the conviction in his declaration. Whatever it was stirred you to action and you did not think, you did not hesitate. Your lips were on his in an instant, eager hands slipping under the armor that kept him from you.
He did not stop you from this, he simply stood still, and let you do as you wanted. You took liberty with this allowance, and a grunt escaped him as you palmed his length. It doubled in size with a few hard circles rubbed against it and this is when he stopped you. Swatting your hand away and lifting you—lifting you!
You nearly gasped as he carried you to the bed, as his hands worked to shed you of your robes. Those hands which had grazed you so many times. Touching you without feeling you. Now they aimed to please you. He reached, and took you in his large palm, stroking until you were hard as stone in his grasp—it took mere seconds.
“Oil, is there any here?” he whispered, breathing the words into your mouth between kisses. You snatched it from your bedside table and pressed it into his palm. He took his time sliding into your entrance with his rigid length. There was so much of him to take.
You had never imagined he would be such a gentle lover.
“You will tell me if it hurts my lord?” he cooed as he eased himself inside you. You nodded, already lying to him. It hurt but you wanted the pain, you wanted it because he was giving it to you.
“Don’t stop,” you said, breathless. He did not stop. Pleasure danced across his features as he buried himself inside you. He was so handsome under its influence. His strokes were long, deep. He told you of your beauty with each one, of your tightness, of the way you clenched around him, of how he longed to be the only one to feel the depths of you each night. Was this the same man who had guarded you day after day? Cold and unyielding as a marble sculpture. He was nothing like that now, as the heat of him filled you, as he pumped your stiff cock and fed you his length until you met your release. Warm ropes painted your abdomen. More painted your stretched and pulsing entrance as he spilled his warmth inside you. You went on this way for hours, and lost count of how many loads you lost to his oil-slick pulls, his ardent pumps. Until finally he collapsed on top of you, grunting with the vestiges of his high. You kissed him, holding his face with both hands.
“I did not think you desired me,” you said.
    A chuckle, breathy and spent.
“Of course I do. I am sworn to you. You are my prince—my heart.”

ylfvaaa do you have any makeup and skincare recs 😭 im trying to get into skincare but i have no idea where to start, i see a lot of people hyping up korean skincare but idk what products live up to the hype. and i need new makeup badly but im scared of ordering a primer and then it sucks yknow. you seem really knowledgeable so if you can help me out it’d be much appreciated <3
hi anon. before i get into this i love you. i love when people ask me about this kinda stuff. makes me so happy. cosmetic chemistry autism.
ALSO to get your primer thing out of the way: i dont rlly use it but ive heard good things about the ELF one and my sister swears by the NYX one and her base is rlly good. so.
also i'd look on the following websites / stores:
sephora for western brands / mainstream kbeauty yesstyle for korean and japanese stuff chic decent or individual websites for chinese beauty (i usually get mine in person tho)
under the cut cause its long af. also i linked to some products but none of this is sponsored or affiliate or anything im just linking cause i like em 👍
OK FIRST OF ALLL. starting w skincare.
i would break down your routine into three main parts: -cleansing -moisturizing / hydrating -SPF
if you wanna get fancy, you can do exfoliation between cleansing and hydrating. but you really dont have to do that if u dont want to
first: cleansing
if you wanna wear makeup you should have a good way to take it off. no. no put the makeup wipes down. they aren't efficient and u will go through SO many of them. and they're a pain and can irritate ur skin w all the wiping (trust me on this one LOL)
i would recommend using an oil based product for this!! melts ur makeup OFFFF like crazy + even if you don't use makeup it will leave ur skin super clean ^__^ ALSO you should apply this to DRY SKIN and wash it off with lukewarm water (the oil emulsifies w water and also very cold water can make it harder to remove)
if you want an oil-based makeup remover for quick removal w a cotton pad: clinique take the day off (47cad ) this one is expensive tbh and isn't as effective as the others BUT. it takes a lot less energy to use + can be done quickly. if you want a cleanser that will take off your makeup incredibly well while washing ur face: kose softymo speedy cleanser (18cad) this is my absolute FAV. i use it allll the time it works so so well and ive reccomended it to tons of ppl before and theyve all liked it. if you want a cleansing balm for heavier makeup: clean-it zero cleansing balm original (30cad) i haven't tried this one myself, but i've heard VERY good things about it.
next i would follow that up with a water based cleanser (so foaming or gel). this will help to wash away all the stuff that the oil cleanser has loosened up and will wash away leftover oil cleanser.
my FAVOURITE is the senka perfect whip cleanser (14.50cad) i adore this stuff!! ive heard some people find it very drying but i havent had that issue? idk i've also heard good things about this beauty of joseon green plum gel cleanser (14.70 cad) but i haven't used it myself. huge fan of BOJ tho!!
(this is the part where you would exfoliate if you wanted to. for a chemical exfoliant i use the giant bottle of clinique stuff my aunt got me but its not worth the price tbh. u could also try the beauty of joseon apricot peeling gel (14.70cad) IF your skin can handle it. its a physical exfoliant tho so be careful. i also enjoy the pixi glow tonic. u can get this at like shoppers or cvs or somethign idk)
second: hydrating and moisturizing
okay so. this is super important if you do a lot of makeup and thus have to wash it away thoroughly.
i start with a hydrating toner. this helps to add water to your skin and smooth it (adding water before moisturizer is a good idea bc the moisturizers will both add moisture and lock in hydration from any prev products)
i use the the I'm from rice toner (38 cad but on sale rn) which is my absolute absolute FAAAV toner. super hydrating super perfect and beautiful. stunning. (you've probably seen people talk about the cosrx snail mucin, and it is nice i will admit. but do NOT use it if you are allergic to shellfish or dust, apparently. also apply it right after your hydrating toner, it needs to be on wet skin)
then i go in with a moisturizer!! i like to use ones with niacinimide or other humectants.
my go-to is the innisfree jeuju cherry blossom dewey glow jelly (35cad) she's so important to meee <3 love her. all time fav. it is SCENTED tho, so if you don't like that, try: beauty of joseon red bean water gel (17.80cad) super lightweight and has no noticeable scent. ive heard very good things and my friend is trying it soon ^__^
finally: SPF
this is THE most important step. sunscreen. wear sunscreen.
apply your sunscreen under your makeup in the morning, and throughout the day. if you wanna reapply using a sun stick, that's great!!! but don't use a sun stick as your ONLY protection.
also i'd avoid pure mineral sunscreens unless you have a legit allergy to chemical ones. mineral sunscreens are not as good and a lot of the marketing is iffy. also they leave a white cast which is esp noticeable on darker skin. mineral + chemical ones are usually fine tho :-)
my fav sunscreen is the biore UV aqua rich watery gel / watery essence (26cad) legit the best feeling sunscreen i have EVER used. my friends who hate sunscreen like this one. there's also the beauty of joseon rice probiotic releif sun cream (24cad) which is very nice too!! not my fav but a lot of people swear by it for reapplying throughout the day, i would use the beauty of joseon matte sun stick (24cad). ive heard super good things but ihavent tried it cause im finishing my other sun stick rn lol
this is all fairly basic stuff since u said you were new to it, but i can also go thru some less necessary, more fancy products if you ever need.
as for makeup, my favourite brands are:
-flower knows -rom&nd (romand) -daisique -etude -lilybyred
and i've heard really good things about / want to try:
-colorgram -judydoll -flortte -amuse -clio -peripera -into you
ok sorry this is so long but um. lmk if you have any further questions but my arms hurt so im gonna stop typing now. MWAH love you

Sassafras tea – The spring tonic.
In the spring, many people would make a spring tonic from sassafras root. Native Americans used sassafras tea to purify blood and for a variety of ailments, including skin diseases and rheumatism. The Cherokee would make a poultice to cleanse wounds and sores, while they’d steep the root bark to treat diarrhea or ‘over-fatness.’
The ‘white sassafras’ grows along roadsides in thick clusters, usually from three to six feet tall. The 'red sassafras' is the most prized. Generally found on hills and ridges, it sometimes grows in mountainous areas to a height of thirty or more feet.
Native Americans in Virginia pointed out sassafras to British settlers, and in 1603, a company was formed in England to send two vessels to the New World, to bring back cargoes of sassafras bark. Thus, sassafras was one of the first, if not the first, forest products to be exported from what is now the mid-Atlantic states.
Sassafras tea was one of the more popular beverages at the time, not only because it contained many health benefits, but because it was delicious! The shoots of this trees also gave birth to the original flavor of the soft drink called root beer.
SASSAFRAS TEA:
Wash roots well. Put six dry roots in pan or coffee pot in about a quart of water. Soak overnight. Then place on fire and boil slowly till fairly strong.
Weaken and sweeten to taste. Serves 8.
SASSAFRAS TEA #2:
One small handful of roots, 3-4 inches long, dropped into a 3 quart enamel pan and covered with as much water as desired, depending on the number you wish to serve. Let boil until the tea is dark in color. These roots may be boiled over and over for days as the flavor increases with successive boilings.

Witchy Herbs: Rosemary - Rosemarinus officinalis
This herb is also called dew of the sea, herb of remembrance, or elf leaf. It has masculine energies, connects with the element of fire, and is ruled by the Sun. It honors the fae, Hebe, Aphrodite, and the Virgin Mary. Zodiac sign; Leo.
You can use this herb to create a tonic that you can topically apply to your skin. You can also use this to rinse your hair to experience less itching with your scalp and have shinier dark hair. If you have a headache, you can have some rosemary tea to bring you relief.
In spells, this herb is for healing, health, wisdom, making your memory better, protection, love, lust, exorcism, purification, and sleep.
When burned, emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations, and so is smoldered to rid a place of negativity, especially prior to performing magic. It is one of the oldest incenses.
Rosemary can remove jealousy. If you feel jealous about something, light a dried sprig of rosemary and as you watch the flames consume the sprig, visualize how your jealous energy is being consumed and transformed into positive energy by the flames.
When placed beneath the pillow rosemary ensures a good sleep and drives away nightmares. Laid under the bed it protects the sleeper from all harm.
Rosemary is also hung on the porch and doorposts to keep thieves from the house and is carried to remain healthy.
Placed in the bath it purifies.
Rosemary has long been used in love and lust incenses and other mixtures.
Healing poppets are stuffed with rosemary to take advantage of its curative vibrations. Rosemary infusion is used to wash the hands before healing work, and the leaves mixed with juniper berries are burned in sickrooms to promote healing.
Rub the oil into yellow candles and light on a Thursday to improve your study habits and grades.
If you wish to receive knowledge or the answer to a question, burn rosemary on charcoal and smell its smoke.
Rosemary is also grown to attract the Fae.
Use rosemary if you need to substitute frankincense or any herb that you are missing.
