Im just really annoyed about how people just fucking hate it when the kids they were jealous of and hated in school for not also getting bad grades also report being fucking traumatized by the school system.
Yeah sorry school traumatizes everyone, even the 'ex-gifted kids' you fucking hate because god forbid someone wasnt exploited and overworked the same way you were.
Sorry a group of predominately neurodiverse people experiencing burnout and how their upbringing of being only valued for their academic performance totally fucked their ability to function in the real world dare talk about this pain where you can see.
Its not being privileged and ~humblebragging~ to report emotional neglect from your parents centered around you having to get perfect grades to receive any scrap of love.
Wishing violence on them for talking about it and finding each other isn't cute either.
And because these people need it stated extra clear
This post is NOT saying other groups of people 'had it less bad'. This is about a specific phenomenon of vitriol towards a oft neurodiverse group of people commiserating about how they were screwed over by the system under the label 'gifted kid' NOT whatever else you are imagining im saying. <3

This isn't a fully fleshed out thought yet but I do feel. Weird. About how Wyll's arc antagonist is handled compared to the others in the party. Like imagine if you just had Cazador or Viconia at camp hanging out three feet away from Shadowheart or Astarion's bed.
Like ok in the interest of absolute fairness: the closest in terms of scale to Mizora is Gortash. In that both have harmed their respective companion, taken advantage of their trust, and isolated them from their loved ones. However, in contrast to someone like Vlaakith or Mystra or Cazador, they don't wield intense physical and spiritual pull over their victim. Karlach and Wyll have a little more freedom to act against them even without player help than say, Shadowheart or Lae'zel. They also entered into their circumstances at least PARTLY by choice. Obviously this doesn't excuse anything that was done to them, they were both young and vulnerable and had that taken advantage of. Its just a little different than "literally owned me for two centuries" and "has been my goddess and my mentor since I was a child and later we developed increasing intimacy in even more personal ways".
And the game let's you go pretty far with siding with Gortash! Far more than it lets you do with Mizora even. But the thing is you can still. Kill Gortash. In like a half dozen different ways. And also! Again! Even if you maintain a positive relationship with Gortash until the end. He's not in camp at the foot of Karlach's bed. You can't hook up with him ten feet from Karlach and have her walk in on it.
This isn't even me saying it was bad to have either of these things. Not every abuse story has to end in "kill your abuser" there's room for a lot of good options. But as an extent of Wyll's quest overall feeling a little underdeveloped. Its weird to me that we generally don't get a lot of the catharsis and grief and intense emotions that we get from the other companions when they confront their abusers. There's not a lot of processing for Wyll about everything he went through! He gets a little "nyah nyah" moment if he saves his father from Mizora but even then. Whether he chose in the first place to save his father or himself wasn't even truly up to him! It was player choice in either direction with no option to even ask him what he actually preferred.
I do genuinely understand: Wyll is a character who doesn't seem to particularly enjoy self-pity. He's very consistent that he doesn't regret pacting with Mizora and that he wants to give his all to his father and the Sword Coast. He doesn't have to be Astarion 2 to be Good Character Writing. But the absence of those big cathartic character moments really do contribute to Wyll feeling like an afterthought character writing wise and make me wonder again what was initially planned in EA

If you're going to be "transRAMCOA", I'm going to demand that you start by paying reparations to all the real survivors out there.
My therapy with a DID and RAMCOA specialist (very hard to find, btw) costs me almost $7000 a year. Let's start there, shall we? That's almost $600 a month. Just on therapy. That I am incredibly lucky to have access to. Most survivors are shit out of luck and have to try to heal without a specialist.
I've lost untold amounts (hundreds of thousands at least) in lost income opportunities because of how disabling being a survivor is. I can't work a regular full time job and will probably never be able to. I've been "working" (read: pimped out by my own parents) since I was a little kid but the skills of a child sex worker aren't exactly transferable to the normie world, y'know?
I get by with a lot of help from some understanding roommates and friends that I'm lucky, VERY lucky, to have. This is to say nothing about the *quality* of that life (not great) beyond what capitalism or money cares about, because of course I'm constantly Experiencing Symptoms. On account of all of the trauma.
I can't even go to the bathroom like a normal person because of how much the constant rape fucked everything up downstairs. There is no fixing this. I will deal with many of the medical and mental complications for the rest of my life and this is just one of them. (Does it still sound like a fun thing to roleplay?)
The first ~20 years of my life were a living hell beyond what most of you can even imagine. My life is also statistically likely to be much shorter than the average person's. What kind of price can I even put on all those lost years? I can't. But you could pay me enough to not have to work for all the years remaining to me. If you want to pay me, say.... $100k a year for the rest of my life so that I can live what little is left to me in peace, then I would be happy to consider you an honorary RAMCOA survivor. I'll even write you a nice little certificate you can frame. I'll give you regular updates on how my therapy is going, so you can (sort of, not really though, you could never understand if you haven't lived it) experience this mAgIcAL hEaLiNg jOuRneY vicariously through me.
Go on, then. You want to be us so bad? Find a REAL survivor, and pay up. Otherwise get the fuck out of my community and stay out. Surviving RAMCOA is not a fun little identity label for you to play around with, it's REAL shit that ruins the lives of REAL people every day. I live with this, EVERY day. It's not a fun little game I can stop when I get tired of playing. This is my LIFE.
So pay up, or fuck off.

Hot take: The criticisms of Victor Frankenstein are all from the wrong angle. “He should have simply not had a mental breakdown” is a shallow take. “He should have been parenting instead of being too sick to write a letter” makes no sense.
Know what flaw should be focused on? Him translating his fear into “what I’m afraid of is evil.” It’s such a common human tendency, but it’s the flaw he actually had a choice in. He took his fear as proof that the Creature was a violent, evil being, instead of anything the Creature actually did by this point.
I’m pretty sure that this flaw is going to show up from other characters as well, and those characters are just as complicit in the mistreatment of the Creature as Victor is. And not only that, but it’s a much more poignant theme and social commentary than “how dare you have a mental breakdown.”
I don’t think this shift in mentality from Victor alone would have changed anything, necessarily—that’s not how right and wrong works, and he is not solely responsible for the Creature’s disillusionment.

Whenever kingdom hearts 4 comes out and people start whining about how it doesn't make sense bc of all the story beats its directly building off of or references to khux or khdr (or even missing link) just tell them "guess the mobile games mattered after all :))". Those are your orders should you choose to except them.

i’ve talked about stories Choosing to create malevolent (magic corrupts), neutral (magic is a tool and good or bad depends on the user), or benevolent (magic renews/is sustainable/low cost) magic systems, or subsets, but i really think in TDP’s case, the people who cannot accept that yes, it doesn’t matter how many regulations there’d conceivably be, dark magic is bad, is like
a massive red flag of “i didn’t read and/or understand the Story Contract i was signing”
cause like, I’ve been playing “tears of the kingdom” a ton this week, and the game is effectively using dark magic; you kill mindless ‘monsters’, slap their body parts onto your weapons and shields to use in other battles, or make potions and shit. now TOTK (or indeed “breath of the wild”) isn’t interested in the ethics of this. it’s a game mechanic, monsters are spawns of the villain, they don’t seem to be any more sentient than animals, and they will attack you if you don’t attack them in most cases. this is an example of a game having a ‘magic system’ if you will and going “this is neutral, if not good, because of the positioning of the game’s morals and narrative.”
TDP is not that. it has never been that. it will never be that. it has a similar magic system, yes, but dark magic actively weakens the user the more they use it. it takes from creatures that are on a ‘human level of intelligence’* (*whatever people have historically decided that to mean is a slippery slope, as we know) with cultures and world views and a range of thought. it’s not sustainable, it’s not neutral. it is actively harmful to both the caster and just about everything it uses for spells, and it can use everything for spells, being a personal moral free-for-all for each individual mage. just a candle and viren’s smoke magic was able to use the assassin’s remains (and souls, implied by through the moon) to wreck international havoc.
TDP’s story contract uses dark magic to explore the corruptive force of power and desperation. to ignore that is to completely disengage with everything the story tries to explore with its magic systems and its mage characters; if you act like it should all be sunshine and rainbows, you completely de-fang every character that is tethered to dark magic, and reduce them to pointless husks.
TOTK/BOTW isn’t wrong for its more neutral/positive leaning state. it wanted a more neutral/positive leaning magic system for its game play. but TDP also isn’t wrong for having a malevolent magic system. it’s a Chosen Feature, not a bug or a flaw.
you may not agree with dark magic’s in-universe foundation (humans were backed into a corner, yes, but we’ve known they can have access to primal magic for 3+ seasons now) but that’s what you signed on for. it’d be like complaining that the main characters are children when it’s a kid show, or that a fantasy series has magic at all. it’s in the story’s Contract. if you don’t like it, go find other stories with magic systems you groove more with; i promise they exist, and everyone wold probably be happier if you did, yourself included

Happy Aromantic Day of Visibility!
This is your annual reminder that aromantic people exist and are part of the queer community. Happy pride to every aro person out there. Be proud, and don't let the amatonormativity get to you too much. You are valid, and I love you.
I decided to play around with my simself for the occasion, including making a recreation of my bedroom, complete with weird decor and my cats. <3

This is ventier than what I usually post but I'm just sooo irritated.
I was trying to explain how because I'm Jewish, I'm not white, and how that is directly because nazis (and other antisemites) view Jews as a separate race. They don't view me as such and want me dead because of it. And this one person had the full on audacity to go "yeah but treating being Jewish like it's a separate race is antisemitic". YEAH NO SHIT, I WONDER WHY THAT DIDNT STOP THE NAZIS FROM COMMITTING GENOCIDE AGAINST MY PEOPLE FOR BEING A DIFFERENT RACE!
This person was poc too, and could totally understand why someone who is mixed or is white passing has situational privileges but still experiences racism because they're not actually white, but suddenly not why that applies to me because I'm Ashkenazim and pale? My skin color doesn't make me immune to racialized antisemitism, especially since I'm *actively and visibly Jewish*. An antisemite isn't going to look at me and go, "Oh pale skin, must be white! Time to move to the next person." They're going to see my kippah and Magen David and go "Oh another kike to kill."
