Cat and Mouse (Fyodor x Fem Reader)

Synopsis: You're a private investigator going through some hard times. Free lance work is hard! Just when you were at your wits end, you are contacted to follow and investigate a man known as Fyodor Dostoevsky.

You were sitting down in a cafe, its quiet and relaxing atmosphere washing over you as you flipped through the pages of a book. Music played over the speakers and you could hear customers chatting quietly among themselves. The register occasionally made a little ring and you could hear the loud buzz of the espresso machine and steamer. You would be lying if you said the cafe wasn't a nice one.

You sat in the chair, your legs crossed and your hair down. You had glasses on, though they were of course non-prescription ones that you would never personally wear on a casual outing to a cafe. You had on a simple and modest black dress that went down to your knees, covering just your thighs while you sat.

You turned the page of the book, trying hard to not roll your eyes as you read the main character profess her love to her crush in a completely predictable manner. Your eyes shifted from the book to the side, staking out the area.

You weren't particularly interested in the book you were holding, nor were you really interested in the hot latte that was growing cold in its cup. The book was actually something you had just randomly grabbed off the shelf from the bookstore on your way here and the latte was simply a recommendation given by the staff when you asked.

What you were really interested in was the pale man sitting two tables away from you. He was deathly pale and had a lean build. His straight black hair stopped right before his shoulders and covered the middle portion of his face. He stuck out like a sore thumb in the cafe, his white, fluffy ushanka making it hard to miss him.

He was sitting by himself at the table, smiling slightly while holding his drink. He didn't have anything out in front of him, rather, he simply sat while making glances out to random people at the cafe. His purple eyes stalked and silently judged the staff who occasionally walked around the store to clean up, or the various customers who had walked in to order their drinks and food.

And finally, to you.

You had managed to avoid being caught staring at him during the hour you had stayed here, but the piercing gaze that you could occasionally feel burning into you made you wonder if you really had been undetected.

The man's name was Fyodor Dostoevsky. You didn't have much information about him, only his general description. You had been contacted by a wavy, brown-haired man 1 week ago about Fyodor. The man only referred to himself as Dazai, and and claimed to be part of an organization that you had long forgotten the name of as he only mentioned it to you once. Despite the large amount of bandages covering his body and his oddly flirty behavior, Dazai seemed friendly and not overly suspicious. And even though this type of information gathering was a bit different from your usual commissions, Dazai was offering you a disgusting amount of money for this job. Enough to cover 5 months worth of rent, to be more specific.

All he gave you was Fyodor's description, and a warning to never get too physically close to him. Dazai wanted a detailed report of what you would be able to uncover about him from any private investigation and stalking and had even texted you a few times to ask about how the investigation was going or to make casual talk.

It was now day 2 since you had finally tracked Fyodor down in person and you were growing frustrated. You had also coincidently lost contact with Dazai 2 days ago, his phone going straight to voice mail and your messages being left on delivered. And since you had forgotten about his organization's name you were essentially void of any contact with him. You had been watching Fyodor come in to this cafe for 2 days now but every time he had always managed to disappear right as you followed him out the store, leaving you irritated and bewildered.

You turned the page of your book again, mentally cursing at yourself when you realized that you had stayed on that particular page for too long. You picked up the latte, taking a sip before you were hit by its bitterness. You tried your best to keep a straight face but you failed, grimacing while the bitterness spread over your mouth.

"First time drinking a latte miss?"

The voice came from behind you, the person close enough that you felt their breath on your ear. You turned your head over to the direction of the voice, only to be startled when you were met with dark purple eyes only a few centimeters away from you. Out of instinct you leaned back, his face was way too close for comfort. He tilted his head to the side once you leaned back, as if he didn't know why you would have such a surprised reaction.

It was Fyodor. He had on a slight smile and was bending down to get to your eye level as you sat. You looked over at where he was sitting just a few seconds ago, and the chair was neatly pushed back into place. His drink was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, hello!" You laughed softly, closing your book and setting it onto the table carefully. "No, it's not but I haven't really gotten used to the taste."

Fyodor chuckled and began speaking, but you paid no attention. You were instead dumbfounded by how direct he was being. Had you blown your cover? Was this some weird way for him to tell you that he knew all about you? Or maybe he approach you because he thought you were pretty?!

You were brought back to reality once you realized he had gone quiet. You looked back up at him, giving him a dumb smile to try and ease the awkwardness. "Mmmhmm" you hummed, hoping your response made sense to whatever the hell he was just talking about.

"Wonderful....Well then, Pardon me"

Fyodor stepped past you, going over to the empty seat on the other side of your table as he sat himself down. He gave you a warm smile, leaning in closer while staring you down. His eyes seemed to be analyzing you, as if he was observing and noting all your features, flaws, and expressions. It felt like a predator trying its best to strip down and lay its prey out for slaughter. Despite the smile he was giving you, his eyes looked eerily cold and empty.

"So, how long have you been coming here? The people working seemed pretty familiar with you" You ask, taking the opportunity to probe him for more information. He hums, as if he was thinking about his response. "I've been coming almost since they first opened" He replied, smiling as he finished the sentence. "The coffee and food here is magnificent. I just love the atmosphere as well, it helps me relax and forget about some of my problems. What about you? Do you enjoy this place?" He asked, his eyes burning into you.

You had seduced other men on purpose for your job, so the staring wasn't anything you weren't used to. But something about the way Fyodor stared at you made you feel uncomfortable. He was sizing you up. And it made you feel small and weak. His eyes meets yours again and he smiles

"So, my question miss.......?" He trails off, realizing that he had never gotten your name.

"It's-" a fake name slips out your mouth, like it has a dozen times with your other targets.

"Do you enjoy this cafe as well?" he asked again, ending his question with the fake name you had just given him. "Oh, yes. It's very relaxing here and their tarts are tasty. Not too sweet" you replied back.

You were lying through your teeth. This cafe was not the type you'd go to on your own volition because it was honestly far too expensive. And the tart you were talking about? You had ordered it yesterday to try and blend in with all the other customers but it sat uneaten in a to go box on your kitchen counter at home, undoubtedly growing stale.

"Yes, my favorite is their tart selection" Fyodor replies, his dark purple eyes continuing to pierce into you.

"Are you here alone?" you asked, feigning ignorance.

"Yes, just here for a little alone time for myself" He replied back.

"Oh, so do you often come alone?" You smiled, unable to hide your happiness and relief at finally making progress on your job. If only Dazai would respond to your messages.....

Fyodor laughed softly, placing his hand over his mouth as he did. "What a curious little mouse you are. I'm not here alone all the time. I do occasionally come with my friend."

"Oh, Really?!"

Fyodor nodded, but his attention on you faltered as he suddenly touched his ear, tilting his head to move the flap of the ushanka out of the way as he did so.

"Hmmm. I'm sorry, but it seems I will need to excuse myself." Fyodor said as he got up from his seat. "But I would hate for this to be the last time we meet, my curious mouse~" He grabbed the napkin you had placed next to your latte and seemed to pull a pen out of thin air as he began to scribble down a phone number. "Here. Call me, and maybe you might even be able to meet my friend next time as well."

Fyodor then began his walk to the door, leaving you alone again at the table. As soon as he was out of sight from the glass windows of the cafe, you hastily packed your things into your little bag before almost dashing out the door to follow him. You were determined to follow him this time and get more information on him. You scanned around in the direction he walked to and spotted the unmissable ushanka on his head. You quickly walked towards his direction, making sure to not move your eyes away from him.

You watched as he turned into an alleyway and you followed suit, walking into the dark and making sure you didn't step on any of the extra trash on the floor and make any noise. You were going to find something out about him and you were gonna do it now.

Even as Fyodor continued to walk further in and even as the sun no longer reached into the alleyway, you followed behind him.

Fyodor took another turn and you followed, your feet quietly leading you to basically our ticket to a full wallet (assuming Dazai was still alive somewhere). You mind raced with ideas of what Fyodor was hiding, and why he was going into this empty, dark alleyway alone.

However, your daydreams of eating out and not worrying about rent were cut short as you turned the corner to follow Fyodor and realized that you were staring at at a dead-end. Or more importantly, an empty dead-end. He had disappeared yet again. You sighed deeply and ran your fingers through your hair, feeling irritated "What the hell!" you said quietly to yourself.

You take out your phone, pointing its flashlight around as you went further down the dead end, trying your best to see in the dark area if there was anything else that you may have missed. As you took a few steps forward you realized that there was the sound of another pair of steps as you walked. You turned around and before you could even see what or who could possibly be behind you, you were shoved to the brick wall by a pair of strong hands. An "omph" escaping you as you were winded from the force of being pushed.

You were face to face with Fyodor. And he was smiling at you.

Your eyes went wide, trying your best to register what was happening as you were face to face with the taller man staring you down as he held you against the wall by your shoulders. His dark purple eyes bore into you as his grip around your shoulders tightened.

"Tsk tsk my little mouse....So impatient to see me again? How cute" He said lowly.

He leaned closer, his smile getting bigger as he saw your eyes darting around for an escape.

"You know, you shouldn't make yourself so obvious. You told me the workers seemed familiar with me but you walked into the cafe today after I had already ordered and talked with the workers. How would you have known? Or how about the way you left your hot latte out for an hour without taking a single sip, hmm? Oh and the way you got flustered after I stared you down, even though you were doing it to me from the moment you walked into the cafe. How hypocritical of you" He said, continuing to speak in a low voice.

"How much are you getting paid for this job? I'll match the offer if you tell me everything about the person who hired you....a fair trade don't you think miss?" He asked with a smile.

"I...." the offer was enticing. Dazai had suddenly stopped contacting you and were technically working half unpaid as he had not given you the full payment of the money he promised for this job. Hell, he hadn't even responded to any of your recent messages, who knows if that bandaged man was even alive or still willing to pay you that huge sum of money.

You chewed your lip as you thought it out. You were already caught, so you wouldn't even have a chance to really give Dazai much info now. And who knows what Fyodor would do if you refused his offer now that he caught you......

"No" you replied sternly.

Fyodor's smile drops slightly as he leans back, his face clearly showing his displeasure with your response. "No...? Haha" He began to laugh, throwing his head back as he laughed at your response. "No?" he repeated, as if he wanted to confirm that he had heard you right.

His laughter quiets as he pulls you forward to himself, not caring that you were being thrown off balance by the action as your feet shuffled forward. "Is that truly your answer? You really would risk your life for money? Or perhaps for your client?" Mr. Dazai hasn't contacted you in 2 days, am I right? And you're still sticking your neck out for him? How honorable...Or should I say stupid? Hmm?" He says, ending off with your real name. Not the fake one you had told him at the cafe.

You looked at Fyodor in confusion and fear, how did he know Dazai? How did he know you had lost contact with Dazai.....was this a set up?! Or perhaps you had greatly underestimated your target. Who was he?! Were you going to die now? In this empty, dark, dead-end alleyway?

Your legs were shaking now, and you were sure that you'd be much more unstable if it wasn't for the strong, tight grip Fyodor had you in. Fyodor's gaze never left your face, the grin on his face making you feel unsettled and uncomfortable. He wore the same predatory look of hunger, like he was looking to eat you up in any moment. He chuckled as he saw tears forming in your eyes.

"You really shouldn't be scared, I'm not going to hurt a pretty thing like you." His grip softened, and one hand moved up from your shoulder to your face as he cupped your cheek and caressed your face with his thumb.

"It's good that you're so loyal to someone you don't even know. That blind loyalty is something I need. Do you know where Dazai works? What he does for a living? Why he needs info about me? Did he even have any intention of paying you or making sure you were safe on your job?" Fyodor tilted his head slightly to the side, his voice sounding sympathetic even as he scowled at the mention of Dazai.

"No, right? He sent you out to me like cattle to slaughter. But don't worry, kitten. You'll be safe in my arms. As long as you promise to stay with me and be loyal, that is. I'd be a shame to lose someone with your skills...and of course your beauty."

You turned your head away from Fyodor's hand, taking advantage of his loosened grip on your shoulder to push him as you backed away. "No! Never!" You shouted at him.

"Your answer disappoints me, but I expected as much." Fyodor says before quickly stepping closer to you. You're too scared to even react before he traps you between the wall and his body, his breathe blowing on your face as you look up at him, tears pricking your eyes as you panic, your breathing getting heavy.

"Your answer does not matter little mouse. Your fate was sealed the moment I knew of you. Now, accept it and make this easier for the both of us."

How does it work?

You send me a message and we discuss what type of story you’d like. If I think I can do it properly for you- it’s a go!

You provide details about the character (you, someone else, multiples). Stories can be OFC, Actual People, or Reader Insert.

You leave me alone for a little while and when I return, you’ll get a PDF file of your fic (usually including custom art) emailed right to you!

What Kind of Story Can You Do?

Anything. No, wait. I’m afraid you don’t believe me. I mean… ANY T H I N G. You want hardcore smut that boarders on problematic? I’m in. You want the fluffiest fluff that ever fluffed and would make Hallmark movies cringe? I got you. Angst? Dark stuff? General? Literally Anything you want. I only have one or two things I’m not comfortable with but that can all be discussed in private, and honestly, after 8 years doing this, no one’s ever come close to asking for them so you’re 1000% good to ask for whatever.

What’s the bottom line here?

Well, your story, which will be anywhere from 1,000 - 10,000 words depending on how wordy I get, will be a flat rate of $25. This includes my full attention to your story from start to finish, accompanying art, specific detail inclusion, and an emailed PDF file that you can print out or delete, or whatever you want. It’s yours.

I do not write for word counts, only for the story. If your complete story can be told in 1k words, that’s great. If it takes another 40,000 and we end up with a novel, we can discuss a little extra depending on how far we go! If you'd like a series... let's start at $30 and see what happens! I’m more worried about giving you the best story I can than worrying about word counts.

Commissions are not limited to type or fandom. It costs nothing to ask, and the worst I can say is "sorry, I can't write that".

If you'd like to discuss an idea that is NOT specifically fandom related, I'm open to that as well!

You don't have to answer this at all, just wanted to give some perspective/info from someone who's been doing illustration commissions for about 15 years: in my opinion, it's always better to work backwards from an hourly rate rather than doing value-based pricing.

When working with private individuals as clients, US$30-50/hr is pretty standard for custom freelance stuff depending on experience, but since you're new to commissions I'd recommend offering a discount for the first few slots (both to get things moving, and also to give yourself lower-stakes "training" until you get used to the process—sometimes your workflow will change in ways you didn't expect under the conditions).

Personally, I prefer to offer a fixed quote based on my hourly rate, because that gets any kind of sticker shock out of the way. I estimate the amount of time it'll take me, add ~10% as a buffer, and apply my hourly rate. The fixed quote also gives me a little freedom not to stress out if it's taking more or less time than anticipated; I just make a note for my next quote and adjust accordingly.

The hourly rate might seem high to you, as it often does to people who are used to more traditional salary structures. But keep in mind that as a freelancer, you're also your own admin support: you don't bill for time spent emailing, researching, invoicing, etc. Tax can also get a bit complicated if you start doing a lot of freelance work.

My own base (non-commercial) rate is US$60/hr, because I've been doing this for a very long time. Frankly, the reason I have a lot of long-term repeat clients who pay my rate is because I communicate well and deliver on time. I set out a timeline up front with scheduled check-ins at various stages, and then I stick to that timeline no matter what. As someone who's also hired many freelance artists in the past, I know that reliability will win over genius every single time.

Speaking of timelines, ALWAYS be specific about the number and scope of revisions you offer. Depending on the project, I might phrase it as "2 rounds of revisions, with up to 1 hour of work per round" or similar. I bill anything beyond that scope at a higher hourly rate, usually about US$90/hr, billed by the half-hour. This also gives you leverage to say "Sure, I can add a whole new character and completely change the background; that will take about X hours which will put us into hourly billing territory at X rate." Either they'll back down or you'll be well compensated for the trouble, and most importantly (from a client services perspective) you've not told them no, you've given them options and reminded them what they've already agreed to.

In terms of payment plans, I normally require 50% up front (non-refundable) and 50% on final delivery. Since you haven't yet built up a rep as a commission artist, I recommend a lower up-front rate (maybe 20-30%). I do strongly advise getting SOMETHING up front to lock clients in and make sure they can't completely ditch if something happens. Plus, refusing to pay a small deposit is a major red flag.

I offer a 5% discount for complete payment up front, because it's honestly worth that 5% just to not have to deal with chasing people down and sending invoice reminders and whatnot.

I'm sorry to hear you've been going through such a tough time, and I hope this was helpful and not too overwhelming; it's just stuff I wish someone had told me when I was first starting out, and I think it's important for working artists to share info about business practices. I wasn't strict about a lot of things back then (like number of revisions), and it always ended up coming back to bite me. It might seem counter-intuitive, but I promise that thinking through and setting a lot of rules/boundaries up front will save you a lot of stress and trouble in the end.

I seriously want to thank you for this. It's incredibly informative not just for me but I'm sure other start out artists too. You've gone over things that I'd have no idea to do, thank you.

I'm certainly looking into how to pay tax as being in the UK I've never had to work that out before as we have it done for us in most jobs. So that would have been something I'd have forgotten about and it's not something you want to miss. I definitely have to time myself working as I don't know how long I take as I've never thought about that either. I just know I'm slow. It's interesting to see what you'd charge hourly as I see a lot of fan commissions having a low fixed rate depending on what you offer. So definitely have to look whether to offer that or like you suggest a more freelance rate of pay. I'll admit US$30-50/hr made me gasp but that's because I'm used to working for UK minimum wage (roughly $13 a hr) so that seems a lot to me. Gives me something to think about. Though I worry about pricing people out to begin with what with being quite slow and a nobody. And yes! Never forget about getting a deposit. I learnt that the bad way decades ago when I did try to do a commission and was never paid. That's what made me nervous to even begin as I can be a pushover. So need to be more strict in what I can offer and of course revise too.

Seriously thank you this is so helpful. Like you say there's so much people don't share about getting into freelance and commission work. Getting that step up, even if it's me doing it, is something I've no idea how to even start on. I get people saying why aren't you working in art? But my answer is always 'how?' It's something no one's told me about. How to sell yourself and your work. Even commission work confused me. So please don't worry this is beyond helpful and I'm very grateful for you taking your time to help me. It's been a very rough few months but I'm trying to stay positive. It was the morning of January 30th, a gloomy winter day, the sky being overcast, and snowflakes drifting across the window-panes. His restlessness and nervous irritability had become intensified, He spoke menacingly of horrible things, and, in my very presence, would cruelly toy with the revolver he always carried about with him. Indeed, I had become afraid to be alone with him. Still, summoning all my strength of mind to aid me, I went on trying to hide from others’ inquisitive gaze the complete failure of our marriage. On the particular morning of which I now write, the entrance of my chief lady-in-waiting interrupted the singing lesson, and the gloomy trains of thought which were interspersed with it. Her aspect was unusually serious and reserved when she begged me to give her a few minutes in private. She had, she said, an important communication to make to me. The most horrible thing had happened which could befall a wife. At Mayerling, early in the morning, the Crown Prince had been found in bed, with his brains blown out, and beside him the corpse of a woman who had also been shot— Mary Vetsera.

Count Joseph Hoyos, one of the Crown Prince’s guests at the shoot, summoned early in the morning by the groom of the chambers, who could get no answer to his knocking at the door of the Crown Prince’s bedroom, had forced an entry and had seen the two dead bodies. Hoyos had made all possible speed to Vienna, and had conveyed the terrible news to Rudolf’s chief chamberlain. It was decided to tell her Majesty the Empress before any one else; the companion and secretary, Fraulein von Ferenczy, being charged with this painful commission. The Empress went at once to the Emperor. The agony of this hour was borne by the parents alone, without any witness of their grief.

Only after that was it decided to acquaint Rudolf’s widow with what had happened. I sat between their Majesties while what I heard and suffered inflicted on me incurable wounds. At length I ventured to tell the Empress what, weeks before, I had tried to say to the Emperor. I spoke of Rudolf’s manner of life, his habits and customs, his associates, how completely his health had been disordered. The Empress, however, stubbornly closed her mind against these communications, and it was an additional distress to me to feel that she was turning away from me. In her eyes I was the guilty party. Though outwardly I remained calm, inwardly I was in a state of collapse.

Situation Update

Hey all! I've boosted my gofundme quite a bit here on tumblr, and I do have my commission post pinned, so I wanted to let everyone know:

I have a new job!

It's pretty exciting and I'll update with details closer to my start date. For now, suffice it to say it couldn't have come at a better time.

So what does this mean for commissions? Well, I do have to put them off for a bit as I have a LOT of logistical things to handle for my new job, which starts in about two weeks. However, in addition to completing the ones I have, I would like to keep my commissions open even though I'm going back to work. I will be a bit more selective and have more custom-tailored quotes for your needs, but I miss drawing tbh.

His line before the Second Battle of Hoover Dam made me AN EMOTIONAL MESS ( ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ _ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀ )!!!!!!

I’M HIJACKING THIS ASK TO RAMBLE ABOUT MY HEADCANONS INVOLVING RAUL!!!

• He’s AroAce

• When upgrading the Presidential Suite in the Lucky 38, Madison (Courier Six) gets the Sunset Sarsaparilla Vending Machine just for Raul. While it comes out of her pay Mr. House restocks it regularly.

• Raul and her both LOVE and bond over sweets. In the beginning Raul would play the 😔 “At my age this might be my last chance to enjoy something sweet” card. It worked every-time on her.

• When Raul gets bubble gum he gives her the temporary tattoo it comes with. Madison hands them out to kids she encounters on her travels (Freeside, The Boomers ETC.)

• She indulges Raul’s sweet tooth to the point he has to go see Dr. Usanagi to get a bad cavity fixed and a few teeth implants.

• Raul teaches her about basic weapon repair. However not enough that she doesn’t need him.

• Together they collect the Star Sunset Sarsaparilla Caps. While not surprised they're both disappointed by the reward. Raul keeps the Pew Pew gun while Madison gives the toy deputy badges to kids.

Afterwards they continue to collect the Star Sunset Sarsaparilla Caps. Inside the Lucky 38 there’s a jar filled with them.

• Out of all the human companions, Raul is the one Madison trusts the most. She will privately discuss Mr. House's plans and what he wants her to do. Madison loves all her companions but knows not everyone would support the actions Mr. House deems necessary. Madison believes once they see the results, they’ll understand. Which obviously isn't the case.

Other companions are uncertain, but Raul is completely aware how loyal Madison is to Mr. House.

Arcade is the best example saying, “I have to say I don't understand where you're going with Mr. House. The man's been manipulating the locals for as long as anyone can remember. If you help him kick the NCR and Legion out, he's going to keep right on doing it. The people in Freeside will be just as bad off as they ever were. If you can find a way to push Mr. House out of the picture as well, I think everyone will be better off."

• Before Raul leaves for his own journey post game, Madison gives him a custom medal. She designed it but commissioned Michael Angelo to make it. It’s something Raul always wears.

• Although Raul becomes the Ghost-Vaquero who hunts down those who prey on the weak. Raul still makes it a point to visit her from time to time. He knows she’d miss his beautiful face.

• While unintentional when Raul visits they ALWAYS end up taking a nap together. They’ll be sitting on one of the couches talking then BOOM knocked out. Old habits die hard.

• Since Madison’s medicine skill is really high she’ll massage Raul and try to help him with his pain.

• Speaking of which after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam Madison’s first luxury purchase is renting out the ENTIRE Ultra-Luxe Casino’s bathhouse.

I imagine they don't typically allow Ghouls in there so she uses this chance to try and help Raul.

Since soaking in salt water has a lot of benefits for your health like easing muscle cramps, relieving stiffness in joints, back pain ETC. She wants to show Raul her appreciation for everything he’s done for her. Also they’re both extremely sore after that huge battle.

I’m not sure if the saltwater used in the Ultra-Luxe Casino is sterile but if it is it’d also be good for any open wounds Raul might have as a Ghoul.

• Madison offers to cover the entire cost for Raul to be put in a chamber similar to Mr. House’s. However he rejects her offer. When Raul eventually dies she broadcasts a recording of a mariachi band through every radio. She doesn't announce his death wanting the legend of the Ghost-Vaquero to live on forever.

This exchange perfectly describes their bond:

Madison: "Come, Raul, adventure awaits!"

Raul: "Sorry boss, but as much as I'd like to risk getting killed by your side, you seem to already have some help." or "Words cannot contain my excitement at the chance to throw myself headlong into danger with you again, boss."

#To clarify Raul doesn't die young or anything. 11,165 total entries were submitted in 2022!

This includes all entries that were submitted via the Google Form, including late entries (and excluding duplicate entries).

Which brings us to 42,721 total recorded entries since we began this challenge in 2017!

And, we had 105 volunteer artists in 2022!! Which means that there are 105 prize-winners!

Participation Prize Winners

Winners were selected via a random raffle dice roll made by each of the artists and span all online writing platforms, including Tumblr, Ao3, Google Docs, and others (like Twitter). This writing challenge is not a contest - no one’s work was being judged for length, skill, etc. The prizes are based on participation only!

Prizes are a simple black & white portrait of the winner’s character. Most are shoulder up but the artists are free to take liberties if they’d like. Prizes are not commissioned work, so ultimately it’s the artist’s choice for what they’d like to do for the piece. Some artists (not all) accept commissions and might be open to colorizing a prize piece, after it’s been posted, at their normal rates.

All of 2022′s winners will be contacted directly by their volunteer artist. If you are a winner and your artist has been unable to contact you after 2 weeks of trying, you will forfeit your prize and another participant will be chosen to take your place, so make sure that your inboxes are open and keep an eye out for new discord friend requests.

As always, there are a few whose artists needed to drop out for personal reasons, and that’s ok! In those cases, the winners will be carried over into 2023′s pool of winners where another artist will pick up their prize and complete it.

How does it work?

You send me a message and we discuss what type of story you'd like. If I think I can do it properly for you- it's a go!

You provide details about the character (you, someone else, multiples). Stories can be OFC, Actual People, or Reader Insert.

You leave me alone for a few days and when I return, you'll get a PDF file of your fic (usually including custom art) emailed right to you ready for gifting!

What Kind of Story Can You Do?

Anything. No, wait. I'm afraid you don't believe me. I mean... ANY T H I N G. You want hardcore smut that boarders on problematic? I'm in. You want the fluffiest fluff that ever fluffed and would make Hallmark movies cringe? I got you. Angst? Dark stuff? General? Literally Anything you want. I only have one or two things I'm not comfortable with but that can all be discussed in private, and honestly, after almost 8 years doing this, no one's ever come close to asking for them so you're 1000% good to ask for whatever.

What's the bottom line here?

Well, your story, which will be anywhere from 1,000 - 20,000 words depending on how wordy I get, will be a flat rate of $20. This includes my full attention to your story from start to finish, accompanying art, specific detail inclusion, and an emailed PDF file that you can print out or delete, or whatever you want. It's yours.

I do not write for word counts, only the story. If your complete story can be told in 1k words, that's great. If it takes another 40,000 and we end up with a novel, that's great for you and I won't charge you any more for it! I'm more worried about giving you the best story I can than worrying about word counts.

Commissions are open now until Christmas Eve Eve (Dec 23, 2023).

I will only take FIVE commissions at any time, so best to get to me first. First come, first serve, then I go down the line.
