Day 11 of Rammstein's Countdown to Halloween
Tonight, Split (2016, dir. M. Night Shyamalan)
Plot: Three girls are taken and imprisoned by a man with dissociative personality disorder somewhere in a underground cellar.
Okay, now I know he gets a lot of crap sometimes and I'll admit, the live action Avatar, The Last Airbender was a hit and miss, but I actually really enjoy Shyamalan's films. I think they are creative and very intriguing to say the least.
Now, Split is a part of a trilogy known as The Unbreakable Trilogy (or Eastrail 177) which a superhero thriller/horror story that fallows a man known as Mr. Glass who goes out of his way to make superheroes, just like the comic books.
Now, despite it being a part of something bigger and don't get me wrong, it's actually on of my favourite trilogies ever, other than The Hobbit/Fellowship, haha and I actually feel that Split can be its own stand alone film. Now honestly, I think that is absolute amazing when you can a film that is a part of a franchise, let alone, the middle part of one, and stands out from the rest that really says something and I think that's all thanks to the writing and acting done here.
The writing is so powerful and really you can see that this film was written with care. There are so many great lines in here it's just wow.
The set up and design for the film just scream thriller and help set the dark undertone for the film.
Finally, the acting from the leads alone is just wow. Really, every member did an amazing job.
Ana Taylor-Joy is such a convincing final girl and to be me, she fits as one of the best scream queens ever.
James McAvoy, I just don't know where to begin. I honestly think did does NOT get enough recognition for his work, especially for this performance. The fact that he can just switch characters/personalities so seamlessly and effortlessly just blows me away. He delivers ever line with such force and grace he honestly carried this movie.
I recommend this whole trilogy, but definitely take the time to look this one over, it deserves all the attention it can get.

The Price May Be Right - Number 11
Welcome to “The Price May Be Right!” I’m counting down My Top 31 Favorite Vincent Price Performances & Appearances! The countdown will cover movies, TV productions, and many more forms of media.
Today we focus on Number 11: The Inventor, from Edward Scissorhands.
While Vincent’s role in this Tim Burton classic is rather small – he’s only onscreen for about five minutes, that’s less time than he had as Baka in The Ten Commandments – it is certainly a memorable appearance. This is not least of all because this was actually Vincent’s final theatrical movie, at least officially speaking. (More on what I mean by that later in the countdown.) Price actually passed away three years after the film was released; there’s actually a misconception this was the last piece of acting Price ever did, period. This is untrue: his ACTUAL last film was a TV movie called “Heart of Justice,” which I must confess I’ve never seen, and he also did some voicework for the cartoon show “Tiny Toon Adventures.” However, it’s perhaps not so bad that “Edward Scissorhands” gets so much credit, because it truly does feel like a swan song for the great actor.
For those who don’t know, the plot of Edward Scissorhands is a sort of pastiche of both Pinocchio and Frankenstein. The kindly Inventor – who acts as a sort of combo of Dr. Frankenstein, Gepetto, AND the Blue Fairy all rolled into one – is only seen in flashback sequences that explain the main character’s origins. It’s revealed that, long ago, the Inventor was a humble tinkerer who made wacky food-processing machines up in his tower laboratory. Lonely and aging, he was inspired one day to take apart one of his machines and turn it into a real human being: he wanted a son. It’s not entirely clear how the man managed it, but he did, bit by bit, create Edward from the ground up, and raised him with kindness and sweetness galore.
Unfortunately, there was one part the Inventor never was able to give Edward: his hands. In fact, in the ultimate heartbreaker, the Inventor died of a heart attack while in the middle of trying to give Edward the hands he had made for him. Helpless, Edward watched his father die as his lovely would-be hands were ruined at the same time, leaving the poor dear alone for many, many years, until a young lady found him in the tower…but that’s another story.
Well…technically the same story, but that’s the extent of Vincent’s role in the proceedings.
While the part is small, Vincent still manages to give – in the twilight of his life – a sensitive and surprising performance. The Inventor is memorable not simply because he’s played by Vincent Price, but because of the gentle-hearted and slightly humorous way Price plays the character. He’s an endearing figure in the film, as so much is learned about him and his relationship with Edward not through dialogue, but through their expressions, mannerisms, and the world in which they live. The movie is, in many ways, the kind of film Vincent was used to doing: a stylish, Gothic, but slightly off-kilter picture, with its roots in classic literature. And it is perhaps ironically fitting that – much like Christopher Lee would do with Saruman in “The Hobbit” Trilogy – Vincent’s final cinematic motion picture depicts him not as the villain, but as a good-hearted sage.
Tomorrow, the countdown continues as we move into the Top 10!

Finally got to read Who's the Boss 15, & what's the thing that stands out to me?? The mom, not Lloyd's treatment of the MC, no, it's the mom. Ugh! She makes me see red & just gets my blood boiling! As a mom, with a daughter about the same age as the MC (I was 21 when I had her. But also, hope you don't find it weird a semi-old lady reads your fics 😅😅). The entire time I'm reading their interaction, I want to beat the shit outta that woman!! & my heart absolutley breaks for the kids who have parents like this, because I know they exist.
I couldn't ever imagine treating my daughter like that! Don't get me wrong, I'm no "mother of the year", & was pretty shitty when I was younger, but still never treated my daughter like that!
I could go on & on about shitty parents, but won't 😊😊. But I will say, thank you so much for all your wonderful stories & sharing your amazing writing skills. I've loved all your stories (ngl, kinda miss your hobbit stories, too). Keep up the amazing work!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Wish you all the best!
I agree. Unfortunately, I meet more people with a narcissistic parent than supportive parents. But hey, I still meet lots with amazing parents. I think for me, growing up in the economic tier and area I did, it was more likely parents would be unable to sufficiently provide a decent childhood emotionally and otherwise.
I mean if I was a parent, which I will never be, my priority would be the child. I don't think it's ever fair to undercut your own child. But again, my resent over my treatment as a kid is my very reason for not wanting to be a parent. It's hard work and it never ends. You can't just countdown to 18.
Anyhow, thank you. And I appreciate the shout out to my hobbit days :) I look fondly back and never say never...

Two LotR SeSa 2022 prompters still need writers! Can you help us out?
There are still TWO prompters with unclaimed prompts: Princess of Words and Caiti. We'd love to see every participant get a prompt filled, so please have a look at their prompts to see if you can help out! ♥ Signal boosting is also welcome!
Ideally, everyone has a fill when the fics are revealed, but with the deadline fast coming up, this requires quick writing.
The unfilled prompts are all gen and/or het. Two are ensemble-focused ones (Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit) and one is character-focused (a wider span of LotR, The Silmarillion and The Hobbit).
You can find the all the prompts here.
We will consider extending the deadline by a few days if these prompts have not been claimed and filled by the original deadline tonight (23:59pm PST; you can find a countdown here).

Every CS:GO Major champion ranked from worst to best
Not every champion is made equally. There is still a thin divide between good teams that just so happened to win a Major and the best of the best, even if you have to be pretty strong to even qualify for a CS:GO Major, much less win one.
There have been 19 CS:GO Majors and 15 different champions. Ranking all these teams that accomplished the greatest feat in CS:GO esports was as entertaining as it was painstakingly difficult. Many arguments and rearrangements later, we have it: the ranking of every CS:GO Major champion, from worst to best.
15) Jame, qikert, FL1T, n0rb3r7, fame (Outsiders)
The battle for last place was so fierce, we rearranged the bottom three multiple times before arriving at the conclusion that Outsiders is the worst-ever CS:GO Major champion. Four of the five members of this squad have never been in HLTV’s Top 20. This isn’t the end of the world by itself, but IEM Rio 2022 is the only trophy this lineup has ever won, and the only one three of the five members have won in their entire career. Outsiders becoming Major champions is the definition of lightning in a bottle, and for that, they sit at the bottom of our list.
14) JW, flusha, pronax, znajder, Devilwalk (fnatic)
It pains us to have three legends of the game so far down, but the fact of the matter is that the Fnatic that won DreamHack Winter 2013 wasn’t a very good team. This is the only lineup besides Outsiders whose only title came at a Major. While undeniably a cool feat, it isn’t very convincing for a ranking like ours. The separating factor that kept fnatic from being dead last is individual skill, of which JW and flusha had plenty, even back then.
13) Skadoodle, RUSH, autimatic, tarik, Stewie2K (Cloud9)
Love them or hate them, Cloud9 had the most memorable CS:GO Major win ever, and no one can take that away from the Americans. Memorable is not what we’re ranking, though, and a great champion Cloud9 was not. This roster fell apart immediately after winning ELEAGUE Major 2018, and none of the players found much success either before or after that magical week in Boston. Tarik’s dubious record of being the only CS:GO Major MVP to never appear in HLTV’s Top 20 doesn’t help C9’s cause, either.
12) Zeus, AdreN, HObbit, Dosia, mou (Gambit)
Though usually crammed together with the flukey Major champions, we’re of the opinion that this Gambit lineup is the first truly great one to appear in our countdown. Zeus played in three Major finals and won many trophies with NAVI, AdreN played in one more Major final and also won some trophies after Gambit, Dosia was one of the best players in the early CS:GO days, and HObbit enjoyed an amazing career resurgence in his second stint with Gambit. The only factor stopping the lineup that won PGL Major Krakow from being higher on our list is Zeus’ love for NAVI, which prematurely cut Gambit’s solid run with three total titles.
11) Happy, NBK, kioShiMa, shox, SmithZz (LDLC)
If Gambit didn’t convince you we’re firmly in greatness territory, the DreamHack Winter 2014 champions should. The French scene was as strong as it was chaotic in the first few years of CS:GO. For what it’s worth, all the shuffling of star power won France two Majors. Both winning lineups include the core of Happy, NBK, and kioShiMa, and both had very similar success, but one achieved just a little bit more to earn a spot in our top 10.
Happy, NBK, kioShiMa, shox, and SmithZz won six tournaments in 10 months of playing together. Each player has made at least one HLTV Top 20, each has won at least 12 titles in their career. This is an immensely successful, star-studded lineup, and it’s not even in the top 10 of CS:GO champions. That’s the kind of competition we’re having here.
10) Happy, NBK, kioShiMa, kennyS, apEX (Envy)
We’re already familiar with the majority of the lineup that went on to win DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca. The new faces are kennyS, who is top five all-time in MVP awards, and apEX, who accumulated over 20 trophies during his career—not exactly a downgrade from shox and SmithZz.
This new lineup reached a Major final in its second tournament together—ESL One Cologne 2015, which makes them the first entry on our list that appeared in multiple CS:GO Major finals. Whether that’s a good thing is up to the reader. While that additional final appearance helped Envy to jump above LDLC, it also makes the Frenchmen the worst CS:GO Major multi-finalists, by a long shot.
9) ZywOo, apEX, dupreeh, Magisk, Spinx (Vitality)
ZywOo caught the last train out of “Best player to never win a CS:GO Major” station by winning the last-ever such event. ZywOo’s individual greatness is reason enough to place Vitality in our top 10, but this is far from a hard carry. Magisk, dupreeh, and apEX had eight Major titles between them before ever playing a round with ZywOo. Spinx lacked that veteran pedigree before joining forces with the stars, but it was his arrival that propelled Vitality to three top-tier titles, culminating with a Major win in ZywOo and apEX’s home country at the BLAST Paris Major.
ZywOo and apEX from Vitality lifting the BLAST Paris Major trophy, apEX holding the French flag in his left hand.
8) Twistzz, ropz, karrigan, rain, broky (FaZe)
Karrigan is a magnet for great lineups, yet it is this one that finally got the legendary Danish IGL the Major title that had eluded him for nearly a decade. FaZe won the first three tournaments they participated in after the final piece of the puzzle, ropz, joined at the start of 2022. One of these three victories was at PGL Major Antwerp. A fourth trophy further down the line completed FaZe’s Intel Grand Slam and cemented this lineup’s legacy as one of the best to ever do it.
7) Xyp9x, dupreeh, device, gla1ve, Kjaerbye (Astralis)
The Kjaerbye era Astralis is often glossed over due to Astralis’ future greatness, but we’ll give it all the shine it deserves right here. Though we call it the Kjaerbye era, it is actually gla1ve who joined last and it was that roster move that changed the team’s fortunes. This Astralis lineup finished top four in the first 10 events it attended, winning three of them. Among these wins was what was at the time the greatest CS:GO Major final ever at ELEAGUE Major 2017.
Even the myth that Astralis fell off toward the end of this roster’s run isn’t entirely true. They slowed down a bit, sure, but if they didn’t, we’d be talking about them much later on this list. Overall, this lineup achieved 14 top-four placements in 19 tournaments, a remarkable display of consistency that gives Astralis a mini-title in our ranking—the title of best CS:GO Major champion that has never played in another Major final.
6) Snax, byali, pashaBiceps, NEO, TaZ (Virtus.pro)
We all love the Virtus Plow, and their longevity alone almost got them into the top five. This lineup played together for over four years, won a dozen trophies and was always capable of knocking the favorites out of any event. They also narrowly missed out on becoming two-time champions in a crushingly close encounter with Astralis at ELEAGUE 2017. We’re beginning to run out of slots, and there are better, more successful lineups that won a Major, so we couldn’t push VP any higher, but No. 6 is more than respectable for the EMS Katowice 2014 champions.
5) Perfecto, s1mple, electronic, Boombl4, b1t (NAVI)
Take what Astralis did after gla1ve joined, amp it up to 11, and you’ll get this NAVI lineup. The CIS giants weren’t just finishing in the top four of events, they were winning them. NAVI won six times and was runner-up once in its first seven tournaments with this roster. Thankfully, that second place did not come at PGL Major Stockholm, because s1mple would have probably believed he was cursed by a cosmic entity at this point.
Similarly to ZywOo, s1mple by himself could drag any lineup to success, but neither superstar had enjoyed so much winning with any other lineup. NAVI completed the Intel Grand Slam and was one win away at PGL Antwerp from becoming back-to-back Major champions. That was their last tournament together. Had they won it, they would have more than likely broken into the top three. As it is, NAVI has to settle for top five.
4) FalleN, coldzera, fer, TACO, fnx (Luminosity/SK)
Luminosity exploded onto the scene in 2016, won its first-ever title at the MLG Columbus Major, then followed it with two more trophies before switching to SK days before ESL One Cologne 2016, where they became only the second back-to-back Major winner in CS:GO history. This core’s winning formula was not lost with fnx’s benching and subsequent departure, but we don’t give bonus points for other rosters’ accomplishments, even if only one player was changed, so right outside the top three of CS:GO Major champions is where the Brazilians stand in our book.
3) GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, Xizt, friberg, Fifflaren (Ninjas in Pyjamas)
It’s difficult to explain to someone who didn’t follow the scene at the time just how dominant Ninjas in Pyjamas were in the first 12 months of CS:GO. This team was averaging more than a title per month from September 2012 to September 2013, but there was one problem—there weren’t any Majors in that timeframe. The first ever Major was played in November 2013, where NiP were upset by the second-worst CS:GO Major champion ever. Then they lost in the final again at EMS Katowice. Had NiP not won ESL One Cologne 2014, they would have been on top of another ranking—the best team to never win a CS:GO Major. We’d bet they’re much happier to be the mere third-greatest team to win one instead.
2) JW, flusha, pronax, olofmeister, KRIMZ (fnatic)
It’s funny how changing two players can take you from the second-worst to the second-best CS:GO Major champion. Snatching LGB stars KRIMZ and olofmeister was the best thing fnatic ever did, as this lineup accumulated a dozen trophies over its 18-month run and took over from NiP as the premier CS:GO team. The crowning jewels in this second Swedish dynasty’s crown were the successive Majors they won—ESL One Katowice and ESL One Cologne 2015.
The latter would be this lineup’s final title before swapping pronax for dennis and winning five events in five attempts to begin their new era. We don’t need those additional titles to rank fnatic second, it will break our own rules, but it’s always fun to reminisce about this period in CS:GO history, so there you go.

1) Xyp9x, dupreeh, device, gla1ve, Magisk (Astralis)
We struggled mightily with most placements, but one thing we knew from the start was who would be No. 1. Astralis with Magisk is the greatest team to ever touch CS:GO, period. They won a staggering 20 trophies together, the most for any single lineup. Part of this unmatched run were not one, not two, but three Major titles in a row—FACEIT London, IEM Katowice, and Starladder Berlin. Point made, case closed—Astralis is the best team to ever win a CS:GO Major.
Any sort of list is destined to make someone unhappy, but that’s the last feeling we want to leave you with. If your favorite team seems like it was hard done by yours truly, we offer the best highlights from every CS:GO Major as a means of truce.

@moonshinemuses
Automatically, he swallowed back an faraway recollection of an instant when his mind had broke down, when weight of an absence had returned, when he found again suffering an ocean of nothingness without any kind of breathing exit … It was better he didn’t recalled to himself that point, for didn’t focusing over that void existing inside his existence. Firstly acting flattered inside an gentle amused smile concerning that sentence, soon enough, it changed inside an thoughtful one filled of sadness inside his gaze. As much it was concerning his thoughts, he also understood she was speaking about his heart : no way, he was going to expose his pathetic destroyed and damaged heart in public … this vision, in any case, could never be trivial, and would be a fatal countdown for him. Persephone would understand, through him, the wound imposed by his metaphoric twin — an pain intense and devastating as a breach had been created in the heart of the God of the Underground, which continued to bleed profusely, which, despite the years, didn’t subside. It was also a reflection of Lelouch’s shattered heart, mirroring his various emotional breakdowns, where void he had faced found no solace — something he had faced face to face, even the day he had deigned to cry with guilt, and never recovered from it. There was another truth that he wanted to preserve, of this witch that he had helped him by his presence to become one in his case ( it was a little more … complicated with his metaphoric twin) in this reality. It was glimpsing a witch’s damaged, shattered, broken pieces of a heart that was desperately trying to hold on … a name that echoed like a distant whisper that touched him personally, in his double reflection, for having understood more of what he had wished … but which unveiled a vivid truth to be perceived by anyone else. It wasn’t just about him. Despair of this Hobbit holding on to his second chance would explode in the face of the world. Hidden and accumulated despair of his tutor would be glimpsed, in all the horror of this existence, without being able to convey any lasting consolation … He would become himself another embodiment of that void that Alice had portrayed in an altered appearance, where long after various Hogwarts they had temporarily crossed paths at the time: a goddess imprisoned in an Nothing card, which had become the Void herself, which had lost herself in her feelings of distress and silent agony, wish to make everything disappear … she had freed herself from this ‘curse’ by having to face an attachment whose words or any thought towards her had never been enough to bring her back to reason … this small detail was also one of the elements that made him uncomfortable with her presence. His domain of illusions had found a double, coming from a deity, where beyond physical resemblance this time feminine, similar behavioral characteristics, found himself facing a perfect reflection, indirectly reflecting another truth of Beatrice's heart …
Regardless, one day, he would have to facing himself with that kind of period. He achieved not to have it thanks to silent support of his tutor who always managed to avoid these 'circumstances’. Compared to others sensations and situations he could catch up concerning his metaphoric twin inside higher spheres, there weren’t no gossip, no rumours, no real noise … It had been an transformation coming from within, another of the reasons who trapped him with Hades — he cannot fool him inside that point, for had already witnessed how broken he was feeling, and won’t believe another time he might be 'fine’ as he pretented to be. He could projecting all brightness and joy, all sensations of lightness, all reassurance sensations, the God of the Underground won’t blindly believe it, and would assuring himself if there was nothing wrong mentally or emotionally … He loathed to having losing an trump card even before met Hades, however, he was mostly fairly terrified about how he would reflecting what happened to his metaphoric twin. Inside his previous life, afterwars what happened, the wrapping despair closing him off of any kind of social life. He passed his whole time in bed, with no desire to wake up, perceiving no point to his existence, reflecting about everything who happened, ans slowly been eaten by that despair … It was the thought of Phantomhive who somehow avoid him to sink. Main concerned wasn’t happier himself with the truth, but cannot denied the somewhere positive influence he had at that time — even if, during that same period, he only cared about find once more his metaphoric twin and wanted to becoming legitimate, without Phantomhive, he wouldn’t have seen the point of staying a second longer in a world that it had abandoned him completely. Phantomhive had sensed the risk and had decided to stay as long as necessary in this cursed place of this second manor, before parting ways with a limited guarantee that he would hold. His depression at the time was nothing compared to the psychological shock his metaphoric twin had given Hades and Lelouch. He had few details, fragmented informations coming from the worries of these high powers. His metaphoric twin had suffered of something similiar to the curse given by Claude, only it was coming from his own mind … and was like 'extinguished’. Electricity presented by his usual light had ceased to emit, and impossible to relight him — he had become a rag like a doll, where his eyes had died out in emptiness, and absolutely nothing could bring him back. His soul had literally shattered, in which small pieces of his soul had either been lost in depths of his being or had shattered into tiny pieces, and a way had to be found to put all his pieces back together. The day he had felt this fragmentary information, he had turned pale, and had to take some air in solitude to mentally accept the shock. The God of the Underground had literally saved his metaphoric twin from a silent, emotional death. Lelouch’s guilt had taken a huge shock, where his efforts had been for nothing, and where he had lost all hope of being forgiven: it was his fault, he had no idea how much the state of his metaphoric twin was serious, he blamed himself for having been dazzled by his lies of illusions. Hades had deigned facing the fact patiently, until mentally, once healed, he was emotionally troubled that he had never been same again. Unfortunately, since this had happened to his twin, on reflection, it was going to happen again … even more spectacularly … his metaphoric twin was a witch connected to Purgatory, living mostly in higher dimensions, therefore, could reflect several 'hearts’ in this violent reaction … he had this advantage of immortality where despite almost-disappearance of his soul, there was no carnal envelope in physical world which would take the shock ( although that theoretically, that was him ) … he was mortal, and remembered well agony of Claude’s curse. He had survived for months, slowly dying, only to have bouts of this curse for short periods but increasingly violent. How would his heart react to a surge of emotional desperation, in a long crisis that would never end, where everything suddenly darkened ? How would he bear the shock if his soul were to shatter, if even that was recoverable ? Feeling a pallor return, an embarrassed laugh betrayed his expression, swallowing the thought again.
❝ It’s not something I would recommend. ❞ He admitted slowly. ❝ You may imagine that at that moment, I would be without doubt repairable, that something can be done for the pathetic being inside me, but that is the problem, there is nothing to do, you can’t really heal from what has been brutally broken … I held on for years, holding on to hatred, going to extreme of anger because the opposite effect, of let go completely, was going to turn me off … while not sure to come back. It’s better if it’s not known or seen … ❞ He reflected sadly. He was honestly horrified of the day when the God of the Underground himself would have to interfering inside his existence, reacting as a loving father and physically offering his hugs that he had always refused from him … even now, even with an established bond with Hades, he didn’t want to receive physical affection. It was like an inscribed fear that he refused one day find himself crying in his arms, to express all his despair in front of him, and to realize his tenderness. This was going to destroy the God of the Underground, emotionally tormented between his desire to give him his affection to limit damage in advance, and realizing that he hadn’t been able to save him from this. Hades had taken beyond of responsibility for tragedy that had happened. He was committed to 'fixing’ his metaphoric twin, wanting to dissolve cause of gaping hole in his soul … for being dazzled by his illusions. Which made ground between them heavily undermined despite all good understanding he could have now. His metaphoric twin was lucky he had exposed Hades in all his warm demeanor and touched him where no one else could… he would never let that kind of thing happen again, and that It wasn’t like he could 'play’ with something that serious. He swallowed. ❝ Of the point as far as my heart is concerned. I could probably untie my words one day, play with different truths in front of me like a childish game, but not my heart. Your brother accidentally saw it once, for being confused, and I’m still ashamed of it today. It’s a bit of a problem with such a domain, it’s so sharp that it spills blood everywhere~ ❞ He shrugged.

Day twenty of my Birthday Month Art Prompt Challenge! Today’s prompt was: Wings
I love Eagles, I think they’re such a cute bird, and I am told my Uncle Terry loved them. That side of my family is predominantly Native American and his spirit guide was an eagle.🦅❤️
So how could I resist that great scene where the Eagles rescue Sam and Frodo from Mount Doom? I briefly considered the Eagles saving the Company from the cliff side in the Hobbit, or Gandalf using moths for messengers, but in the end this scene won out. I guess I just like drawing lava lol.

Day One of Rammstein's Countdown to Halloween:
Time for another movie of the day/Rammstein countdown to Halloween and today we are starting with one of my favourite campy films of all time. BRAINDEAD (1992) dir. Peter Jackson or Dead Alive depending on what country you live in.
This is probably on of the bloodiest films you'll ever see. This horror comedy was made by the same mastermind who brought you the modern day Lord of the Rings/Hobbit trilogies, Peter Jackson, jammed packed with creative kills, zombies and a kung fu fighting priest.
The storyline is absolutely insane and just bleeds campy with the tale of a young man who must survive and fight off against the undead after his elderly mother goes to the zoo and is bitten by a wild rat monkey thing.
The sets are incredible, the visual effects will absolutely blow you away and everyone in this movie plays their roles to a perfect T.
The claymation and effects give off a very Tim Burton vibe and there is never a dull moment within this film.
This hidden gem is a perfect example of using what you got and just running with it and I absolutely can't get over the fact that this is a Peter Jackson film. Highly recommend just for the gore and effects alone.

Christopher Lee: A Sinister Centenary - Number 3
Welcome to Christopher Lee: A Sinister Centenary! Over the course of May, I will be counting down My Top 31 Favorite Performances by my favorite actor, the late, great Sir Christopher Lee, in honor of his 100th Birthday. Although this fine actor left us a few years ago, his legacy endures, and this countdown is a tribute to said legacy!
We’re in the Top Three! Today’s Subject, My 3rd Favorite Christopher Lee Performance: Saruman the White, from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Alongside his role as Count Dooku in Star Wars, Lee’s appearance in “The Lord of the Rings” was one of the roles that put him back on the map, after almost 15 years of relative obscurity. Throughout the late 80s and the 1990s, while Lee was still a jobbing actor, working steadily, his popularity and prominence had greatly diminished. When Peter Jackson cast him to play the evil wizard, Saruman – one of the main antagonists of the classic Tolkien fantasy novels – people were reminded of the power of this performer. This role, above all others, served as a reminder that Lee could still captivate audiences, and turn in a scene-stealing performance.
Saruman was, once again, one of Lee’s favorite roles, and very close to his heart: he was actually a major fan of the Tolkien classics, and made a point of reading them annually. He even brought annotated copies of the books with him onset, at least in the original trilogy. It can easily be argued that, in the first two out of three films, Saruman was honestly the primary antagonist: I’ve always felt that the so-called character of Sauron is less a proper “character” and more of a force of nature. He’s an evil PRESENCE who’s malignant influence causes much of the mayhem in the story, but he’s never really a true FIGURE in the stories, or even in the films. Saruman and Gollum are the two most prominent physical antagonists in the books, and the ones who drive much of the conflict for the story. The same goes for the movies, which, in fact, expanded on Saruman’s role, giving Lee plenty of meat to work with.
The reasons why Lee is so brilliant as Saruman are easy to explain: with his tall and willowy stature, and his grand and intimidating vocal presence, he COMMANDED attention each time he appeared onscreen. Even in scenes where he says little, or moves little, he somehow manages to dominate the sequence. Indeed, most fans agree that, of all the changes made between the theatrical and director’s cuts for “Return of the King,” if there was one change that SHOULDN’T have been made, it was removing Saruman’s death scene. While perhaps it could have been shortened for time, seeing Saruman get his comeuppance on the big screen would have been a treat, whereas NOT seeing it proves to be one of the few faults the third pillar has.
This would quite literally be a role that would stick with Lee to his dying day: he reprised the character for the prequel Hobbit Trilogy. This wasn’t easy for Lee to manage, as he was very, VERY late in his life by that point, and in fact, much of his work in the third film had to be done by a stuntman. In both movies, he actually had to film his scenes separate from the rest of the cast, overseas, in front of a greenscreen: the travel would have been too much for him, by that point. Even with this in mind, seeing him as Saruman before his corruption is truly a marvel: all those years later, he still had the vocal power and charismatic presence to own the scenes he was in, and it gives us a new perspective on the White Wizard the original trilogy did not offer. Lee said that his favorite part of playing Saruman in the prequel trilogy was the fact that, in essence, he could say goodbye to the role by leaving it with him as a hero, not as a villain. What Lee perhaps did not realize (or perhaps he did, it’s difficult to say) was that this would prove to be one of his final performances. It was the last movie he did that was released during his lifetime: a year after “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” came out, Lee was dead.
After so many years playing villains and bogeymen…Christopher Lee’s last character – one of the most iconic of those same roles – went out like a hero. The poetry of Saruman in this actor’s life is inescapable.
