For no discernible reason Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, and Christopher Reeve show up in the audience of a Season 10 episode of Saturday Night Live.
60s girl groups were making BOPS!! Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Crystals, The Shirelles, The Ronettes, The Chiffons, The Supremes, The Marvelettes... they made some of the best songs ever, and they don't get nearly enough credit!! I wish more people were still listening to them.
So I draw spacy, star, moon, witchy things all the time. My brainstorm session for the “hunter’s moon” went a little haywire and landed on Neo (the one) flying in front of a moon made of Matrix code. It was my pleasure to bring this to you.
I tried to mimic my marker/colored pencil style in procreate today. My studio is full of attic stuff after having our roof replaced so I’m kinda limited until it’s finished up and I have enough energy to clean up.
//Ok so I have lotsa ghost ocs, 3 of which were from the dash event “Taken! Dead or Alive” I did on my main blog @pawnshopsouls. First is Lunos (the warlock cypher lover), then Clay (the big-hearted titan ghost), and Vermillion (quick, treasure-hunting hunter ghost).
//the other ghosts I have are all part of Kesivik’s Cloud of Ghosts. Originally, it was six ghosts including:
Sevens, who found his guardian as a warlock sharpshooter;
Rodger, who found his guardian as a titan;
Henry, who was actually killed by the ghost hunter, Cyrell, while trying to raise his guardian;
Quarry, the ghost who was hurt that Kesivik saved;
Crystal, who, after Kesivik earns her trust by saving Quarry, is determined to be his Ghost if/when he dies if Quarry doesn’t raise him first;
Iris, who became the ghost, Wyrm, of the hive knight, Shasur-Tor, belonging to @bandit-prince ~
And Reeves, the flighty nerve-wreck of a ghost Kesivik first met trying to help out the other ghosts!
Brad and Judy heacanons because i am unfortunately fixated on these two out of all the characters in sdmi :(
Brad is actually pretty emotional without the curses influence. Judy is too but she mostly responds with happiness or anger while Brad expresses himself with more emotions.
Judy has anger issues. The curse actually makes them less obvious but when she does express anger it’s more violent and stressful.
Brad comes from a wealthy family, he has one older sister (Bridgette) and his parents are Penelope Chiles and Tim Chiles. He doesn’t really talk with his sister and his mother rarely treats him like a son and is often cold towards him. His father doesn’t treat him like a son either and just kinda follows whatever his wife does.
Judy comes from a large family. She has 5 brothers (Jaden, Jaiden, Jadyn, Jaideyn, and Jaydeyn.) Her brothers tease her a lot and don’t respect her. Her parents, Rachel Reeves and Norman Reeves, treat Judy very kindly and are very protective but often don’t give her brothers consequences for their actions which makes her feel trapped.
Judy and Brad first met at a playground. Judy finally got away from her brothers and Brad was all alone because his sister ditched him to go shopping with her friends. They became really close and hung out every day.
Brad had a LOT of extracurriculars as a kid/teen. He often struggled with balancing it all and he barely liked any of them. His parents signed him up for all of these to “give him enough opportunities so that he cannot possibly be a jobless hobo.”
Judy wanted to a lot of sports and after school activities but her parents deemed them “too unsafe and rough for a lady!” She often tagged along with Brad whenever he was doing sports or theatre.
Brad and Judy had Fred on accident, so they were going to give Fred to someone they knew in Crystal Cove, but the Freak came and in a moment of stress and also with maybe tiny speck of the curses influence, Brad decided to get rid of Fred that way.
Brad and Judy always cross dressed when doing disguises as kids. Brad lies says it’s because nobody would suspect someone as manly as him to dress like a girl. Judy just admits it’s fun to dress like a guy and break gender roles.
Judy is the more carefree one while Brad is more serious in nature, though he is definitely not a super strict kinda guy. Judy has helped him loosen up from a young age.
Brad and Judy would feel very guilty for how they treated Fred, if they remembered. They definitely didn’t want to be parents but they would never want to SHOOT HIM DOWN WHILE HE IS IN A HELICOPTER WITH HIS FRIENDS ESCAPING FROM MONSTERS…anyways, while they would want to apologize to Fred, im not sure if they would have the balls to do it to his face. It would probably be in an emotional moment or they would be forced to by another person like Cassidy or Daphne. They would probably hand over the parenting role to someone else considering how Fred likely doesn’t even consider them his parents at this point, they haven’t been around for most of his life, and they really don’t even want to be parents.
That’s all of them for now. I may add onto this another day. To make up for this terrible post I’ll start working on some Ricky and Cassidy headcanons!!
Things about Vincent Valentine that I read around and piss me off. Vol.3
"Vincent is boring, doesn't talk and does nothing but mope around."
EXCUSE ME?!?! Seriously, I think this is the worst.
I understand that not everyone may like a character, and rightly so, but this type of comment often denotes a lack of in-depth analysis of the character. Or even a lack of simple understanding.
And since I now feel like Vincent Valentine's defense lawyer, I think I will continue my speech, your honor!
Personally I don't find it boring at all, quite the contrary.
Vincent Valentine is a mysterious character. Even now, years after the release of DoC, we discuss, question and fantasize about the thousand things that are still unclear about him. And with the release of Rebirth the questions and doubts have only increased, although the character has clearly been expanded in his characterization.
The roots of his story run deep into the heart of FFVII's plot, where it all began, and Vincent Valentine boasts strong connections to characters like Hojo, Lucrecia, and Sephiroth himself. Not to mention the Turks and Shinra.
This alone should arouse interest, even just to understand how the character of Vincent Valentine can enrich the game's plot and the characters he interacts with.
Furthermore, Vincent Valentine has the superpower of being unintentionally comical, starting from his inability with modern technology.
His serious, dark, cold and stoic nature sometimes clashes so much with the context or with the characters around him that it almost makes him seem ridiculous. And that's something I find funny. As well as all the interactions he can have with characters who are markedly more exuberant/cheerful than him, such as Yuffie, Cid or Barret.
But ok, tastes are tastes, there's no arguing about that. For me Vincent is far from boring, but I can understand that for some he is.
What I can't stand is thinking of him as a person who does nothing but "mope around".
Apart from the fact that Vincent Valentine is a righteous person who cares about his friends and is always there to support them in his own way.
And as much as he tries to stay away from everything and everyone, he can never resist when it comes to helping someone.
We saw this in AC when he promptly saves Cloud from Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo. We saw him in DoC, when he shielded Reeve or Yuffie on several occasions. We even saw him in Rebirth, when he shielded Tifa or rushed to support Cloud during the Queen Blood quest.
Let's say that the role of bodyguard is still powerful in him!
But I really can't read that his flaw is being silent. Or that he dwells too much on the past and mopes around. My eyes bleed when I read these comments.
I'll make a quick list why Vincent Valentine can't be a cheerful and jovial person who gets along with everyone:
He is heartbroken. The love of his life left him like this, from one moment to the next, and without a valid reason. Not for him, at least.
Lucrecia chose Hojo. Of all people. This is a great blow to his self-esteem, not because Hojo is a toad but because he is a person with an abominable soul.
He's been killed. But then he rose again. And already here there is something very wrong.
The experiments that brought him back to life were not exactly a walk in the park. And if we think of Hojo, only abominable scenarios like him can come to mind.
He is a monster. Inside him he has four uncontrollable and angry entities that he has to live with night and day every day.
The world outside could welcome him with torches and pitchforks.
He lost thirty years of his life and found himself in a world he no longer knows, people, places, technology. Everything changed.
He is immortal. This means that he will see all the people he loves die, one after the other, inevitably. Over and over.
The woman he loves lies in a crystal, eternally unattainable.
One of the entities he harbors within himself is Chaos, a primordial god of death who will cause the end of the world.
His long-term life prospect is to witness the end of all life. Only to be left behind on a dying planet. Alone.
And maybe I even forgot to consider some other aspects!
Just to put it all in perspective: we ordinary people complain about our cuticles or because it's raining or because there's a test at school. Or for any other triviality. And we are often in a bad mood simply because we are.
Vincent Valentine has been through hell. He literally died and then came back to life. I think this abberation alone would be enough to drive anyone crazy.
And then he spent almost thirty years alone in the basement of the Shinra Mansion, when isolation is considered a form of torture for us human beings. And this too would drive anyone mad.
Death is a liberation, which was denied to him in exchange for a new, damned existence made of nightmares, demons, regrets, remorse, etc.
And in the future for him there is nothing, only death and destruction. No love, no family, only ephemeral bonds, destined to be lost over time. No wonder he's afraid to let people get close.
There is no hope for Vincent Valentine, only a dark destiny awaits him.
With such a rosy outlook it would almost be unnecessary to remember that people who lose a limb or are disfigured suffer psychological damage that requires years of therapy, so we can only imagine how Vincent Valentine rebuilt his self. Alone, in the dark. After being dissected on an operating table, genetically manipulated and put back together in a way he wasn't. Life, dignity, humanity, all stripped away.
Nonetheless, Vincent Valentine got back on his feet. Also thanks to the help of the right people at the right time, of course, but after everything he has been through, reacting is not something to be taken for granted. Indeed, not only did he remain a "functioning" person but he also managed to retain his big heart and his strong sensitivity.
Vincent Valentine is a person with incredible resilience, who managed to draw from trauma and suffering the strength necessary to put himself at the service of good. To protect instead of destroy, when he could simply drown his conscience and his pain in the beast's rage and let it be.
Only a great man can do this.
So leave him alone. He has every right and reason to be depressed or to remain silent without being judged for it. The guy is already doing a great job.

She was raised by them, she would forever be in their debt. Until, one day they had decided she was ready. Ready for her first quest. Except, she doesn't know what or who she's looking for. authors note: Hey guys! I hope you like this series that i've come up with. its kinda like a mix of percy jackson, hadestown and my imagination. this is an idea that i've had on my mind for a while and that i just had to get out there. enjoy!!!
Recently watched Superman: The Movie (1978) for the first time in well over a decade and it really is a great movie so I got some thoughts that I want to put somewhere before I forget.
The cold open of theater curtains showing a mockup of an old Superman serial featuring Action Comics is a great nod to the character's past. Then the title flying out of the old theater screen is a fantastic visual as well as a good transition to kickstart the credits sequence accompanied by the iconic music
The set design of Krypton is phenomenal; the glowing clothes, the crystalline look, and the streamlined technology feel alien and futuristic in a unique way, although it is a little odd that everything is so white except for Kal-El's baby blanket.
The trial of Zod, Ursa, and Non has the striking combination of visuals that are the trio being held in a spotlight by spinning rings and the stern Kryptonian judges' faces being projected onto the otherwise dark dome surrounding them
Marlon Brando keeps pronouncing it "Kryptin" for some reason. Like when I'm joking about watching "The Batmins"
Genuinely very sad goodbye scene from Kal's parents
Pretty much every wide shot in Kansas is super beautiful
As is the custom, Ma and Pa Kent bring Clark up right. I appreciate the moment where Clark tells Pa about how he gets so mad at bullies that he wants to tear them apart because first off, you can tell from how he says it that he knows it'd be wrong to do that. And second, Pa doesn't yell at him for having those feelings, he tries to help him deal with them.
Clark doesn't just bail on Martha to go find himself, and he makes sure she'll have help on the farm while he's gone
The sequence of the Fortress forming itself has amazing practical effects and editing
Maybe it was because I was watching the Blu Ray version with extra scenes but the abstract montage of crystal Jor-El teaching Clark about the universe and his abilities and giving life lessons ran a little long but it was cool
Clark is very much playing up his meek, clumsy identity but him being Reporter Clark Kent as a person is not totally an act. He makes sure half his paycheck goes to Ma back home because he wants to make sure she's taken care of and he tries to be polite and helpful around the office, which tracks with who he is at his core
I think Lex being a business tycoon/scientist is pretty integral to the character but I don't mind this version's "Napoleon of crime" shtick. I like that Gene Hackman's hair being a wig in-story is hinted at when Otis is poking around the spa and he finds a spare hairpiece
I know everyone knows this already but Christopher Reeves is a perfect casting choice and he does an amazing job at making Clark and Superman superficially different but obviously the same person at heart. Even when he says something a little corny as either one, there's so much sincerity to it
Clark feeling a little guilty about enjoying being a hero is on-brand. I like that Jor-El reflects Johnathan Kent by encouraging him but also giving guidance so he doesn't lose who he is.
The moment of Jor-El saying "I've sent them you. My only son." is veering very close to the common Superman-as-a-Jesus-allegory mistake but it's the only time in the entire movie I remember it doing that, so I can't harp on it too much
Lois is just a force of nature and the only reason Clark can keep up with her as Superman is because she's starstruck
This version of Superman and Lois are down just HORRENDOUS for each other
The flying date scene is great and I think the poorly-aged flying effect is countered by the nighttime background and the chemistry between the characters. That being said, the "can you read my mind" poem is just. What. Why is this
The scene of Lex, Ms. Teschmacher, and Otis attempting to tamper with the nukes and then having to do it again because Otis screwed up is so goofy I forgot they were villains
Great moment when Superman shows he can be intimidating by just staring down Otis.
I like that Superman is saved by Ms Teschmacher because she believes in him which is a surprise to Lex because he only believes in himself
Really great effects in the scenes of the destruction from the San Andreas fault
This shot is underrated
The moments of Superman realizing Lois is dead have so much weight to them and are amazingly shot
I kind of wish they explored the consequences of him "interfering in history" because otherwise it is sort of just a convenient deus ex machina
Everything ends tied up very nicely (except the Zod squad but after two hours, nobody's thinking about that) and sometimes that's all a movie needs
It's astonishing really how much they manage to fit in this movie considering they give a lot of scenes more time than you'd expect
