Yandere Mom!Wanda trying to kidnap Reader from another universe, because she misses her baby pleaseeee
I love that!
Baby Mine (Yandere Mom!Wanda Maximoff x Reader) (Potential MoM spoilers ahead! Read at your own discretion!)
Tumblr media
*Not my GIF
Summary: Wanda had long accepted that she wouldn't be able to get her children back, yet she refused to accept having no one to love.
You had long accepted that you would always be the outcast of your family, yet you refused to accept that there was no hope.
What happens when she spies you whilst viewing other universes?
(CW: Potential ableism, (I'd like to make it autistic and non-autistic inclusive if I can. It could be read as the reader being autistic, having severe trauma, or both because quite a few trauma symptoms overlap with some autism symptoms) self-harm, abuse, yelling, angst, hurt/comfort, mentions of death, MoM spoilers, (sorry, I forgot to put this as a content warning, please don’t hate me am fragile nugget)
Author's Note: Someone wrote a reply to my "Wanda's your next door neighbor" imagine that they "totally haven't reread it a concerning amount of times." And it makes me realize just how many of us use fanfics to fill the voids in our lives....(fuck, now I'm tearing up) So while yandere fics aren't usually supposed to be a good thing, I think taking the reader from an abusive family to give them the love they deserve may be the exception.
I'm also bringing in another character or two.
“Baby mine, don't you cry Baby mine, dry your eyes Rest your head close to my heart Never to part, baby of mine.”
Wanda wakes up in her little cabin, alone as always. Her face is stained with tear tracks. Billy and Tommy had appeared in her dreams again, and while she missed them terribly, she'd given up her search.
"Know that they'll be loved..."
She knows.....yet it doesn't fill the hole in her heart.
After spending some more time in bed, she gets up and gets dressed before making herself some tea with her breakfast. Everyday just seems to drag on now that she's resigned herself to this fate. And yet, there's still this little spark of hope that she may find something or someone to love, someone that she won't lose.
With that little spark of hope, she goes about her day until she decides to use some magic to view other universes. It's not necessarily dream-walking, it's more like just being an observer without leaving the universe you're in.
For some time, she comes up empty-handed. But suddenly, she spies....someone.
===========
"Ah!"
You cry out as your mother confronts you with your report card.
"What is this?" she snaps, practically punching it with her finger.
You look to see that B+ in Science, sticking out of the sea of As like a sore thumb.
"It's....it's a B+," you say.
"Yeah, a B+."
"It's.....it's still passing...." you defend weakly.
"It's barely passing!" she snaps. "You're not applying yourself. You need to stop being so lazy and actually try for once in your life!"
"But....but I--"
"SHUT UP!"
You wince as her voice punches your ear drums.
"I didn't raise you to be a lazy brat! Are you even studying?"
"I-I am....but I still don't understand--"
"I don't want to hear your excuses."
She huffs.
"I give you a roof over your head, clothes to wear, food to eat, and all I ask is for you to do well in school and help out around the house. I don't think that's too much to ask, but how do you repay me? By sitting on your ass all day doing fuck-all! Do you know how hard I work to raise you all by myself?! And where were you?! You didn't come home on the normal bus!"
"I-I was staying back to get help for Science," you reply meekly.
"Liar!" Your mother snaps. "You were out with some punks, weren't you?"
"No! I wasn't, I promise."
"Likely story."
Suddenly your mother pinches down on your ear and yanks you up to your room.
"Ungrateful, useless brat! Stop that whimpering or else I'll give you something to cry about."
She drags you to your bedroom and pushes you inside to the ground before throwing your backpack at you as well, hitting you in the back. The textbook corner in your backpack hammers on your spine and you wince.
"Stay in here and study, you stupid bitch."
She loudly slams the door shut before you hear a click. She's locked you in. After a few minutes, you sit up weakly and sit on your floor. The tears fall silently as you bite down on your arm.
"Every day...." you squeak as you rock on the floor. "Every day I hope for someone to take me away from this hell hole....I don't know how much longer I can take this....someone....please help me...."
=======================
Wanda's heart breaks and the tears fall down her face at the sight of you. A poor, sweet child who wants to love and be loved only for that wretched woman to degrade and abuse you. She doesn't deserve you. In that moment, Wanda's mind is made up. But unfortunately you're in another universe.
She'll need to call in some back-up. And she knows just who to summon.
=======================
America Chavez has her eyes on a fellow sorceress in Kamar Taj, distracting her from her studies. Her heart flutters at the girl's smile, her stomach fills with butterflies at the song that is her laugh. And this is the first time she's actually felt a bit shy, something completely new to her. She's never been shy.
But today's the day she's gonna talk to her.
"Okay, America," she whispers to herself. "You can do this. Just go up to her and start a conversation. It's not that complicated."
She takes a deep breath before approaching her.
"Um, hey," she says, trying her damnedest to push down her nerves. "I....I've seen you in lessons before and, uh, I'm-I'm America Chavez."
The girl smiles at America.
"Oh yeah, I've seen you too. I'm Titania Phillips, like the fairy queen in A Midsummer Night's Dream."
The two of them just stand there for a bit in silence.
"Say something, America!" her mind snaps at her. "You can do this."
"So, uh," she begins. "Do you like.....stuff?"
Titania giggles.
"Yes, I do in fact like stuff. What sort of stuff are you referring to?"
"Girls?"
It just....bursts out of America's mouth, causing her cheeks to turn scarlet.
"Oh, you're lesbian too?" Titania asks. "I thought it was just me."
"Score!" America squeals internally as she nods. "Okay, now just ask her if she wants to eat lunch or something."
"Umm...." Titania says. "You can stop nodding."
America realizes that she's become a human bobble head and grasps the sides of her head to stop herself.
"Sorry," she chuckles. "So, um, you maybe wanna get lunch or some--?"
Her words are cut off by a grip on her mind. A few seconds later, she finds herself in an unfamiliar house. Something closes behind her and she turns around just in time to see a star-shaped portal close completely.
"Seriously?!" she exclaims.
"America."
A voice hits her ears, one she hasn't heard in a while. She turns to see the last person she'd expect to see.
"W-Wanda?!" she exclaims. "I-I thought you---."
The Scarlet Witch chuckles bitterly.
"You really think it’d happen so easily?"
America blinks a bit.
"What even happened?" she asks. "I was trying to talk to a girl in Kamar Taj."
"And how was that going for you?" Wanda asks, almost knowingly.
"....I was dorky as hell," the teen lesbian mumbles under her breath, glancing down at the floor.
Hearing this Wanda giggles.
"Don’t worry, you’ll get more confident around her. Maybe she'll even be your first kiss."
"Okay, pushing my love life aside, how and why did you bring me here?"
"I had to take control of you for a moment, make you summon a portal to me."
"You...you're not gonna....are you?" America begins to panic.
"No, I'm not," Wanda assures her. "I brought you here in desperate need of your assistance."
"With....what?"
Wanda takes a deep breath.
"Follow me."
She takes America to her universe-viewing room and conjures up what she saw earlier.
"I found a child."
"I thought you gave up on finding the twins."
"I have," she confirms. "But this one's different. Take a look."
She replays the footage and America feels her heart break.
"Holy shit...." she gasps. "What kind of monster treats a kid like that?!"
"Apparently that child's mother. They're in another universe, though. That's where you come in. I need you to make a portal to their universe."
"You're taking them from their family?!"
Wanda nods.
"It's for the best. No child deserves that sort of barbaric and cruel treatment."
Hearing this, the teen is torn. On one hand, she saw how you were being treated, but on the other hand, that's your family. And yet she heard you say how it's an every day occurrence. She can only imagine how little you have to hang onto.
With this thought in mind, she nods.
"Okay, I'll help you. When should we go get them?"
"When it's nighttime in their universe," Wanda answers. "I'll need for you to just wait around a few hours."
"But...Titania..." she whimpers.
"You can talk to her all you like when this is over. Now would you like me to make you some tea?"
"Um....I'm good, thanks." America shivers at the memory.
"I'm really gonna need therapy for that."
=========
It's now 12 am in your universe and your eyes are stinging from all of the studying, but you're so scared that your mother is gonna burst into the room and yell at you some more. And yet....you feel like that's what you deserve.
You hear your stomach grumble and feel the immense ache. You didn't get dinner that evening. How could you when your momster locked you in your own bedroom?
"What's the point?" you sigh as you throw down your textbook, not realizing how loud it is. "I'm never gonna be good enough....I should just sleep on it."
You put on some worn and scratchy PJs and get ready to tuck yourself in your uncomfortable bed when you hear the click of the lock. You begin to panic as the door slams open loudly.
"What are you doing?!" Your mother snaps. "I didn't tell you you could stop studying."
"I need sleep," you tell her.
"Don't you dare talk back to me!"
"But--"
"I said don't talk back!"
You put your hands over your ears and begin rocking, scrunching your eyes shut. Not a moment later, your hands are yanked away from your ears and pinned down.
"Don't you dare ignore me! Look me in the eyes when I'm talking to you, you worthless mistake!"
Pinning down both hands with one, she raises her free hand, ready to smack you. You can't take this anymore and at that moment, you scream out in agony.
"SOMEBODY SAVE ME PLEASE!"
All of a sudden, your mom lets go of your hand and you hear her cry out before a loud bang reaches your ears. You open your eyes to see your mom on the floor with her back against the wall.
"Get your hands off of that child." A voice you don't recognize, one with an accent, growls at her.
Your mother is too stunned to speak. You look over to see a woman with red hair in a red and black outfit. Next to her is a girl with black hair wearing a denim jacket. The red-haired woman nods to the girl and the girl approaches you while the red-haired woman goes over to your mom.
"C'mon," she tells you. "We're here to get you out of here."
You're extremely hesitant, but the girl insists.
"We're not gonna hurt you, we promise."
All of a sudden, you hear your mother scream in fear. Looking over, you only just see her eyes glow red before she curls up in the fetal position in fear. The red-haired woman approaches you.
"It’s going to be alright, sweetie," she tells you. "We promise we won't hurt you."
You're still very hesitant and the red-haired woman sighs, as if she knew this was how you would react, but it's not in an impatient way. All of a sudden, a red wisp seems to emerge from her hand and enters through your ear. You see a brief flash of red before you fall asleep.
==============================
The first thing you notice when you come to is softness. Softness all around you.
Opening your eyes, you find yourself somewhere unfamiliar and you get a bit anxious.
"Hey, it's okay, sweetie."
You hear a gentle voice near you. Looking up, you see the red-haired woman sitting on the edge of the bed next to you. She’s now in casual clothes. You panic a bit.
"Please...don't hurt me..." you whimper.
"I would never hurt you," she assures you. "Never."
She reaches out her hand to you and you flinch.
“You don’t have to, if you don’t want to,” she says to you softly.
“Are....are you gonna hit me?” you stammer.
“Never,” she tells you. “I promise I will never hit you.”
You’re silent for a bit, tentatively taking ahold of her hand after several minutes. She gently rubs the back of yours with her thumb.
“Where....where am I?” you ask.
“You’re in my house,” she tells you.
“How did I get here?”
“It’s a long story.”
“And why am I here?”
You hear her sigh again.
“I-I’m sorry,” you whimper.
“You have nothing to apologize for, sweetie,” she assures you. “It’s just, it’s difficult to explain without startling you. The important thing is that I brought you here because I heard your pleas to be taken away from that place. No child should ever be treated like that. You deserve love and kindness.”
“N-no I don’t.”
“....I know it’s difficult to believe considering how long the abuse has been happening for, but I promise it’s true. You deserve to be loved, and that’s why you’re here. I want to be your mother.”
You hear this and you’re in disbelief.
“H-huh? Is...is this a dream?” you ask.
She smiles softly.
“No, it’s not a dream. It’s very real, sweetie. I truly want to be your mother. I want to love you and take care of you.”
Your eyes begin to water.
“I....I don’t have to go back there, right?”
She shakes her head.
“No, never. This is your home now, you’ll always be loved here.”
You let a small squeak escape your throat and your lip quivers before you weep. You lean forward and hug your new mother.
“Thank you....” you cry, feeling a wave of relief. “Thank you....mom...”
It feels odd, and yet comforting, to say that.
She hugs you in return and rubs your back gently.
“It’s okay, sweetie. Just let it out. It’s okay to cry,” she assures you. “I’m here. Mommy’s here.”
Her love for you grows the longer you two hug. It’s been so long since she’s had someone to care for, and now she has you. You’ve given her a reason to keep going, just by being with her. You truly are a sweet child, now her sweet child; so loving and kind and hopeful.
And Wanda wants nothing more than for you to stay that way.
See....what you don’t know is that you aren’t the only person/thing Wanda had America help retrieve. Unbeknownst to her, Wanda had her retrieve an extremely-powerful elixir; a single dose stops aging, assures complete immortality, and fully protects from all deadly diseases and injuries. She injected a dose into you while you were asleep before injecting herself with a dose.
Not only that, but she’s also placed a barrier around the island. Just enough for you to explore, but not stray so far from her. On top of that, she’s placed an enchantment on America and made sure to disguise it, in case Strange and Wong notice something’s up; it’s to summon her back in case she needs something for you. She’s not going to take her powers, no, but she still wants to make sure that she has what she needs to take care of you.
Yes, you; her precious child.
She won’t let anything or anyone hurt you.
All you’ll know is love from now on.
And no one will ever take you away from her.
She’s made certain of that....
“From your head to your toes (Baby mine) You're so sweet, goodness knows (Baby mine) You are so precious to me Cute as can be Baby of mine Baby mine Baby mine.”

i mentioned it in chat but not here on tumblr:
the theater where i went to see doc strange 2 serves alcohol. i didn't partake (crushed an edible toward the end of the first act, though), but the young woman two seats down from me got started before the previews and was drinking continuously throughout
(this is valid saturday afternoon behavior on her part, there's no criticism here, just i need you to understand that she was getting progressively more sloshed over the course of about three hours)
and i mention her and her increasing inebriation so that you understand this next part:
she didn't laugh much or seem that excited except that
every
single
time
any universe's christine palmer appeared or was even mentioned
it started with a quiet gasp at the reception speech, but it turned to whimpers as we met ugly jumpsuit christine, more whimpering with emo strange: mercy killer, and an actual audible sad puppy dog whine at the line about how every version of him has loved every version of her. when 838 christine had to go home, she made a sound so wounded that her date shushed her
you shush, sir! it was a hard afternoon to be a stephine fan lmao, some of us had spent years hoping for a miracle only to get cold ice water dumped on our heads in the second scene
(i have a lot to say about that little moment at the reception and none of it is complimentary to either character or to the writing. that's not even speaking as a shipper, that's speaking as a viewer who admired that christine palmer set boundaries to preserve herself so she could continue living joyfully and serving others, but did so in a kind, loving way. a nice little example to follow. not someone who invites a man to a party because she's had a sick burn locked and loaded and needed an opportunity. in short: docstrange1 christine would never have been needlessly cruel, it's antithetical to everything we were shown about her. guess the collective trauma of the blip would make people weird, though. guess it could turn a character whose defining trait was her kindness into whoever that was at the reception)
anyway, i hope the real "#1 stephine fan" (my former name in a friend's contacts) hydrated well that evening and that her date gave her lots of little kisses if she got a hangover anyway :)
(and then he listened to her whine about stephine without shushing her even once, now that they were home, hahahaha)

Man I really wish I enjoyed Doctor Strange MoM as much as everyone else here on Tumblr seems to have.
I'm happy for you I guess? But also like did we watch the same movie?
How can some of you stan America when she didn't even have a character arc. She didn't do anything in this film? She was literally just a person shaped McGuffin. And she was so timid throughout the whole movie she didn't resemble anything appealing about her comic book self at all nor did she grow into any thing that was different but just as good.
Also I kind of figured Wanda was going to be the villain given the ending of WandaVision but the way they did it was hot garbage and wasn't satisfying at all? Like I would totally be fine with her kicking the asses of the Illuminati and killing them all but it's not all that satisfying when we didn't really care about these characters in the first place.
Like the half-assed two things instead of picking one thing to choose with Wanda's character? Like is she corrupted by dark magic or is she just lashing out because she's traumatized? The movie wants it to be both but it ends up being neither so I can't actually have fun with her being this murderer happy all powerful badass the way some of you are?
Because if they chose to make her fully mind controlled by the Darkhold/ actually do the interesting thing and have the villain be Cthon than that would have taken away her agency but having her be doing all this of her own accord simply falls into the bad misogynistic characterization and stigmatization of mental illness that we got from the House of M in the comics. But instead they didn't do either and that somehow was worse.
And don't get me started on Doctor strange had nothing resembling a character arc and they didn't do anything interesting with his alternate selves?!?!
Also were the horror movie elements leftovers from the movie before the reshoots or were those tacked on as a wink to the fact that Sam Rami was the director?!? Because when this film was first announced they said it was going to be the first MCU horror movie but clearly they backtracked on that because this movie tries to be both a horror movie and a standard MCU superhero action movie and it fails at both?!?
I'm glad some of you had a good time but as a huge fan of both Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch I'm super fucking disappointed.
P.S. Also the fact that they killed off Wanda means that just like Black Widow and Gomorrah we've killed female side characters before they could have their proper time in the spotlight. And no WandaVision does not count, nor does the Black Widow movie both were shit.
P.S.S. Also also!!!! What do you mean the Darkhold is gone now?!? And in every universe how the fuck are you going to do Blade without the Montesi Formula?!? Like I know the original blade movies change the backstory but those were completely self-contained from the rest of marvel properties so the backstory change made sense then. Also changing the detail from the comics that the Darkhold is supposed to be indestructible in all its form was a dumb decision. And why the FUCK would you introduce the Book of Vishanti if it's not actually going to do anything or have any bearing on the plot whatsoever?!? The book is as iconic to Dr Strange as the Eye of Agamotto?!?! Having it be set up as the solution to a problem only for it to get destroyed before anyone could even look at it is the kind of wink wink nudge nudge "subversion" of expectations that I would expect from Joss Whedon's writing!!!!!! It literally screams Quicksilver getting shot by bullets that he could have outrun and then giving a quipy "you didn't see that coming didn't you"

Hello I hope your having a wonderful day/night I was wondering how do you think Chuuya would react to having an s/o as the scarlet witch. Again I hope you have a great day!
chuuya with a scarlet witch! s/o
bungo stray dogs x scarlet witch! reader
masterlist of the series
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
╰➤ CW(s): possible bungo stray dogs spoilers. headcanons + scenario. mentions of scarlet witch's powers and abilities. reference to multiverse of madness
╰➤ PAIRING(s): nakahara chuuya
Tumblr media
headcanons !
chuuya can levitate and make things levitate, and so can you, which piques his interest given how similar your ability is to his gravity manipulation ability—except that's not all you could do.
chuuya's undoubtedly in awe that you have multiple abilities given how you possess chaos magic, which gives you the power to alter reality to a molecular level, control psionic energy, manipulate gravity, the list practically goes on.
chuuya adores everything you do and can do, even if you use your wiggly-woos to make him glow red and levitate in order to surprise him and fool him into thinking he has lost control of his ability. chuuya loves your surprises especially.
you and chuuya definitely use your abilities respectively to levitate around and mess up each other's gravity, but given that yours is stronger, he often fails to fight against it.
you two would be a power couple. people in the mafia are scared of you and chuuya. he's practically a god, while you're a witch who harnesses chaos magic, a tremendous power that is supposed to be a myth.
whether or not you're a part of the mafia as an executive, member, or just known as his beloved, they are scared regardless 💀
however, he's a little upset with how you can easily win against him. but don't worry, chuuya does indeed love the fact that you could and would kick his ass, and how very much capable you are. he's very smitten!
chuuya accepts and understands you being the scarlet eitch wholeheartedly. take it from someone who has had a difficult childhood and does not feel human because he possesses arahabaki :(
chuuya comforts you whenever you don't feel human, but a monster because of your ability, err, abilities.
he always reassures you the same way you do whenever he feels like that too.
chuuya's love for you is often expressed through words, gifts, and lots of affection, from kisses to tight hugs. chuuya never ever fails to make you feel loved and always lavishes you with the things you like.
chuuya, on the other hand, constantly praises and boasts about you to his colleagues and subordinates. he always tells you how strong and powerful you are, even more than he is, and how proud he is of you.
even if you can be absolutely terrifying when fighting and using your chaos magic as the scarlet witch to the fullest, i doubt chuuya would be scared of you. in fact, he's more worried about you being scared of him using corruption when you're far scarier. ironic, isn't it?
it does worry him at times whenever you're in a bad mood at home though.
chuuya once came to you in the kitchen staring blankly at a wall in deep thought with red glowing eyes, lights flickering, and all of the kitchen knives in the air. yeah...
but, once again, this man is of loyalty. chuuya has complete trust in you. he knows you would never hurt him, even if your powerful chaos magic could turn a man into string cheese or erase someone from existence in an instant.
chuuya would undoubtedly be like dazai to you, in that he is there to stop you when you unintentionally let things out of your control and comforts you.
chuuya admires and respects you greatly. he is astounded by your ability to use chaos magic designed for long range combat in close range hand-to-hand combat. chuuya also definitely learns from you, and you learn from him too given his knowledge of martial arts.
chuuya sometimes wonders how someone as sweet, kind, and loving as you can be while also being breathtakingly dangerous and ruthless when necessary.
he does blush and become flustered when you read his mind, reading his thoughts about you.
scenario !
chuuya was finishing up paperwork in his office at the port mafia headquarters when the stacks of reports on his desk began to glow red and levitate. chuuya's eyes widened in surprise and he became a little concerned, but he soon realized who it was as the stacks of reports in the air formed a heart.
and that's because there was only one other person with an ability similar to his.
"oi, [name], i know it's you," chuuya exclaimed, placing down his pen as he folded his arms.
immediately, the stacks of reports floated back down on his desk, neatly piled up, and a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind, causing chuuya to jump a little in surprise. you couldn't stop giggling at your boyfriend's adorable yet funny reaction as you used your red psionics to make his hat float up to kiss his hairline before placing it back on top of his head.
"h-hey!" chuuya exclaimed, a smile spreading across his face as he looked up at you lovingly, but leaned and relaxed in your embrace.
"hi, chuuya," you said, giggling and smiling in return, "sorry, i couldn't help myself. i just wanted to check up on you."
"it's fine, love," chuuya said as he leaned forward, planting a kiss on your jaw before sitting back in his chair, holding onto your arms that were enveloping him in an embrace from behind him, "i needed a pick-me-up. these reports are killing me."
"i figured," you hummed, peering over him to look at the papers on his desk, "which is why i got you a little something."
"oh, and what's that?" chuuya raised a brow, chuckling softly.
you reached out your hand and interlocked your fingers, your fingertips glowing red. with that, a box of cookies promptly appeared on his desk, along with a cup of piping hot black coffee.
"tada! i had some free time earlier, so i baked red velvet cookies," you exclaimed, pulling away from him to stand in front of him and motion over the cookies, "now i know the coffee isn't your favorite wine, but to be fair, wine doesn't really go well with cookies. so yeah, no booze.."
"relax, [name], i would eat anything you cook and give me, love," chuuya said, taking your hand and kissing your fingertips all the way to your knuckles before gently squeezing it, "i really appreciate it. thank you for coming here."
"you're always welcome, chuuya," you chuckled softly, pulling your hand away to fondly boop at his nose while staring at him lovingly.
chuuya caught your gaze and returned it with a lovesick look of admiration.
you had the most gorgeous [color] eyes, and he adored your soothing touch and affection. in fact, seeing you up close as his gaze was drawn to your lips made him fall in love all over again. he wanted to kiss you so bad. you were truly a beauty in his eyes, alluring and powerful, but as he did so, his face flushed red as he realized what you were doing when you began smirking.
chuuya backed away from your touch, a blushing mess that contrasted sharply with his terrifying and profressional charisma as a port mafia executive, "s-stop reading my mind!"
as you clasped your hands together, you simply laughed at chuuya's adorable reaction, "oops~"
"my bad! i'll stop, okay?" you said immediately before folding your arms across your chest and tilting your head to the side, staring at him with a sweet yet slightly seductive smile and wink that sent chuuya mentally ascending.
"but you know, you can kiss me if you want to, chuuya. no need to be shy, yeah?"
"[NAME]!"

Longer Thoughts About The Flash 2023 Now That I Have Slept Once
Tumblr media
Non-spoiler thoughts first, just because.
I think the average moviegoer will have fun with it, because like. Even I was pleasantly surprised (kind of) about how the movie actually went. Christina Hodson is a really good writer, and the fact that she was able to get something coherent and in brief flashes even compelling out of such BROKEN foundational material is a real testament to her abilities. If you're really just looking for a kind of entertaining time travel movie with familiar beats, this will be good for you.
I think, ultimately, I was never really sold on the premise of the movie to begin with, so it was hard for me to fully enjoy it as a DC fan. It's a very controversial storyline to tackle as a First Flash Film, it's not very easy to adapt to begin with, and as a piece of the DCEU or even the broader spectrum of the DC Multiverse it's even more controversial in many ways because of the broader context of the franchise it finds itself in. There are so many pieces both in the movie and outside of the movie that can't just let it BE a Flash movie, which I think really kills any hope of it being above mid to me at the end of the day.
Anyway Reader Beware Spoilers Under There
This just a highlight reel of random thoughts I had during the movie itself:
As much as I hate how many non-Flash characters get time in this movie, I will never be sad about seeing Jeremy Irons Alfred or Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, thank you for your service y'all enjoy your future projects.
The very FIRST second Barry went into the Speed Force I was like "oh that's neat" and then the REST of the Speed Force happened and I haven't physically cringed as hard since Emma Watson's autotune in Beauty and the Beast.
I can't believe they found a way to make Batfleck's suit both better AND worse than the DKR suit from the Snyder films. Also I take back everything I said about Batfleck being one of the best Batmen we never got, I don't know if it was just the writing or the performance he went with here but I think it's better this way I donot want to see Batfleck again.
I desperately want to send Kiersey Clemmons a really nice gift basket or a card because this was the most SET DRESSING ONLY Iris West they could have gone with. The DCEU has done her so dirty. The only reason Iris is here is because people would be in arms if she didn't show up ONCE. And I'm so mad about it, actually.
I'm actually glad the movie didn't just pretend Cyborg was never in JL-- I was glad he at least got mentioned in the search for the other JL members.
Speaking of, thank you to this movie for sneaking in a little Arthur in there at the end. I hope he and Barry had fun at their slumber party.
I actually really loved their Supergirl here, too-- she's much better than the Supergirl from the CW, she feels a lot more like Kara should, and I really hope for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, they bring back Sasha Calle, because as little as she gets to work with, she's very good in her role.
I don't wanna talk about Michael Keaton too much because I frankly still disagree with the amount of Batmen we have in this movie, but he's still fun to watch and still really good and I'm mad about it but I commend him.
Also, speaking of Batmen, I think the funniest thing this movie could have possibly done was only imply Batfleck and Batkeaton and ONLY show Clooney Bruce at the end. That cameo got the BIGGEST reaction out of ANYTHING in this movie, AND IT DESERVED IT.
I would have liked one Flash villain. Just one. Maybe in that opening sequence we could have had like a Trickster or a Top or a Rainbow Raider or a Girder. Someone who isn't going to get their own main villain billing ever but who would have made this Flash movie feel more like a Flash movie.
I think that's all I have for now BUT as I think on it more I'm sure I'll have more thoughts.

I just finished erha(2ha) or also known as Husky and His White Cat Shizun. And I needed come here talk a lil about my experience.
Part 1
Warning: Spoiler ahead. Sensitive topics being discuss. That's just my opinion. Don't kill me.
My rate:🌟4.0/5.0 (or 9.0/10.)
Let's start with...
Things that I loved in the plot, or arc or narrative.
In their Romance/Relationship:
Xia Sini arc.
Nothing to say. I just loved the whole arc. I felt it was a way of restart all with a more sweet, pure, innocent way, considering it gave the opportunity to them grow close, be friends, get to know better each other. I loved that.
Their first times having sex
I loved how MR focused on giving pleasure on CW, despite his desire. That was sweet
The Love Declaration
Nothing to say too. Just beautiful. (But my heart broken every time I heard CW saying "I'm ugly").
Mo Ran's Death
Loved that? You kidding me? I hated that. I cried like a baby, it hurted so much. But is was so beautiful and so tragic... I can't not even talk about that scene without getting emotional.
The End
I didn't like having Taxian Jun around, but I did loved how CW loved the whole MR. Those extras are just beautiful.
In the Plot:
Time travel.
I love so much a plot of time travel. Specially those that are different from the mostly. That you go back in time and change things but this doesn't affect the present, it creates a new timeline. I loved this.
Multiverse of Madness.
I'm Marvel fan so when I saw this plot I loved so much. Cause is exactly the same thing than in Marvel. In the show Loki is explained. I think if anyone didn't understand well that part of having two version of each, could watch Loki and understand better, even being different stories and in erha not be mentioned multiverse, the concept is the same. In Loki if you go back in time and change something that will create another world "copy" of the original, another timeline with that change in motion, but your present will remain, the way it remained to CW. But there will be two version of the same person, of each person. So I absolutely loved this.
The reason behind all/The villain goal.
I started the book already knowing about the flower. I didn't know how and why, I just knew MoRan was evil once because of some demonic flower. Because of my trauma with Maven from Red Queen, my suspect number one from the very first moment was the kind, sweet, complacent Shi Mei. However I never expected how much emotions I would feel around this. I loved that the goal of the bad guy was not something evil like domain/destroy the world. The villain is evil but his goal is good and understandable. The way those people suffered is was expected that one day someone would go crazy enough to do something about it. I felt so confused, cause for one side I wanted them to be okay, go home or something, on other hand the gates couldn't be open, but after it were open, after all was done and said, I did root for them, I root for them to enter, was too late anyway, how could I wish for they don't go home? So against all odds, I sided with the villain at this moment, I felt angry against that demon tbh, don't wanting let them enter. And after they entered, I felt happy about it and than, guilty cause they only was able to enter due to all that Hua BiNan did, all the genocide, he succeed, how can I be happy for him succeed? But in other hand, those people weren't bad, they just wanted to live, to live without fear of being killed in the mostly horrible way possible, how can I don't he happy about them being safe? And this is the mostly amazing thing about all this. Is one of the villain that I hated the mostly, but with a noble goal. I still don't know how to feel about all this. But I loved it. Well played Meatbun.
The villain
Talking about the goal. The other thing that I loved was the villain. I hate him. But he's the best villain I've seen on a fantasy book. He's complex. He kills without blink, he's responsible for numberless genocide, I never seen someone with so much blood on their hand before and still he thinks he didn't kill. Still despite his coldness, his goal is merely save his people, not even revenge, just take them home, still he don't think himself as a hero. Honestly I think he's very complex, complicated and really, really well written. When I started read and having my suspects, I remember thinking, if SM is really the villain he has a lot of potential if she knows what to do, and I'm so happy in being right with that gut feeling, he fulfilled his potential, I hated him, I felt disgusted by him, shocked by his coldness and evilness, than I understood him, felt reluctantly, compassion and pity, and I will never admit that I said that but when he died I felt some sort of respect for him be willing to give his life for his people, not respect for all he did, I despise all he did, but respect about he giving his life. None of those feelings cancelled the other. I admire him giving his life still hating and despising him and all he did. Even SM 2.0 I have, had trouble in forgive, I don't mind he ending up alive, but I still hate him too, cause he still threw the flower on MoRan. So the reason why he's the best villain I've ever seen is because he made me feel things. Don't know if my moral compass is broken, if my heart is too soft or too weird, but that how it went to me.
----*----
I'm quite aware that every book, even my fav of the fav, are not perfect. To me at least, I haven't read one book up to this day that I consider perfect. I think every book has defaults and problematics, is just up to each person decide what they can ignore what they can't. I have read Chronicles of Ice and Fire which is dark and full of problematic, so erha was not so hard to me. Still, ofc there's things I disliked, this just didn't harm my experience. So, with no more overdue, here's what I disliked the mostly.
The problematics that bothered me:
Wanning in love with MoRan when MR was only 16.
That did bother me but, I was able to ignore, because of a few things, first, WanNing is innocent, naive, his love is pure, because him himself is pure, with exception of that time that MR sliped in that bathtub place(I know is not a bathtub but I forgot the name lol) in which CW got er ya know, I don't remember other moments that CW feelings towards MR was sexual(in book one). Another thing was that MR had a adult mind, not just that but a crazy adult mind, he's the one who attacked CW, it was like CW being in dangerous rather than the other way around. Another things was that in the world of the book, 15 is the over age.
The rape scenes.
Not the arc of the rape, but the scenes itself. I didn't like how descriptive she was. Not just because of the emotional part, but because is kinda boring. I find even sex scenes too long boring sometimes. I found unnecessary the too long descriptions. But is something you can just skip.
Things I disliked, but it has to do with the narrative or plot and is related to my taste or pov(not a problematic, at least not to me):
Too much sexual tension in the second book.
This has to do with my taste, I'm not a big fan of hot, so I found boring that chapter after chapter we had only they with their sexual tense, one moment cute and more sexual tense. That and the lack of things happening was kinda boring too me. But don't get me wrong, is not like I hate all, I loved many moments. But about that too, another thing that bother me was how the author associated love with sex. And love and sex not always walks together. I mean ace people exists, they fall in love without the sexual part so, I didn't like that.
The final revelation.
MoRan be a Butterfly-Boned Beauty to me was a little thrown out of nowhere and too convenient. He's a rare type that shows no signals of be so, is convenient, I feel is something made up in the last moment just so he could come back to life. Is okay, but I just felt a little meh about that.
I miss a little more of development on XM.
I will talk about this when talking about the characters.
I miss a little bit more of reaction before the villain revelation/goal and the whole manipulation thing.
I feel MoRan is the mostly enlightened person ever, cause in no moment we have him feeling angry for being manipulated for so many years. In two lives. I missed having him dealing with this. The angry, the disappointment, the sorrow. The confusion maybe. This also applies to Xue Meng, even more maybe, cause his feelings for SM weren't messed up. He was so attached to his lil group, and seemed close to Shi Mei, so I missed he reacting to that. What I got from him is that he was in denial. Either way I feel only WanNing had a proper reaction to the revelation. Everyone else was a bit off about it. It lack depth on it.
Taxian Jun is still around.
I don't like the end, the part of TXJ still exiting, because once in every three days, MoRan will feel miserable again, paranoiac and broken and that makes me sad. He suffered so much he deserved be happy and well all the time.
This is it. That was the things that I disliked or bothered me regarding the plot, story, arc, narrative.
My favorite scenes, not necessarily scenes that I loved, more like scenes that made me feel something.
Mo Ran's death.
Sisheng Peak being destroyed and XM going crazy in kill mode.
Flashback of the flower being thrown.
The revelation of who is behind all, in the cave after the flower is gone.
The revelation about CW birth.(I scremed "he's pinocchio ahhh")
HBN death
TXJ sacrifice, when he becomes dust.(Btw I felt some parallel between those last two, them both holding up something, sacrificing themselves to a number of people escaping, both living under the trauma of their mother's death. I don't know the meaning behind, but I felt it was a parallel)
MoRan being saved by CW from that blood hourglass in book 1.
Mo Ran taking care of CW during the whole night in book 1.
MoRan taking care of Xia Sini.
That scene with Chu Xun.
The love declaration.
Part 2 is here

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME SPOILERS
For me nothing else happened in this film outside of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) showing up and Andrew Garfield existing.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Yes, I know many things happened that will set the course for Peter Parker's new life and returning Peter to the second most defining thing about him... Peter Parker: Broke heaux
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but I was just so happy to see Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker that little else mattered. I wasn't even a fan of his films it's just that this really felt like redemption for an actor who gave his all - who always gives his all - to a role and, as he has said, he didn't always feel supported by Sony (and I can only assume "Amazing" Amy Pascal). He was disappointed that, due to the nature of the business, Sony's goal was making money and felt the character and stories were compromised and it has heartbreaking for him. So to see his Peter get redemption (being able to save MJ when he failed to save Gwen)
Tumblr media
and Andrew get to return to the character and portray Peter as so loving, so emotionally bare and hit all the notes Garfield likely wanted Peter to hit in his films, was gratifying.
TBT Garfield wearing his heart on his Spidey costume sleeves.
youtube
It reminded me of Brandon Routh being able to have a do-over after the failure of SUPERMAN RETURNS when he was asked to be "Kingdom Come" Superman in one of the CW's crossover events.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Non-Garfield things
- Here I am being naïve like Garfield and expressing disappointment that Sony is committed to making money because they are doing three more Spider-Man films.
This could have been a great ending point for the franchise, or second to last entry. And with Tom Holland initially crowing about this being the first Spider-Man film he did without a multi-year contract and he didn't want to be 30 and still playing the role, they could have just focused on the other Marvel characters whose rights they own. But Holland surely figured (and rightly so) if he's not playing Peter someone else will so he might as well get those Sony $$$. The only reason I can see, beyond money, for Sony continuing is that they are going to return to their initial plan of separating from Marvel Studios as they planned on doing before ...NO WAY HOME. The die is cast - no one remembers Peter which means he has no ties to The Avengers so there's no need for him to pop up in their upcoming films. Even the post-credit scene showing footage from DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS felt like a final favor - just like Sony tacked on footage from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURES PAST onto the end of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 because director Marc Webb had a prior commitment to Fox so for their troubles Sony gave Fox free promotion by tacking on the footage.

YES, YES, YES, YEEEEES! Take that “she is just a kid in AoU” people! I WAS RIGHT GODDAMMIT! She and Pietro were born in 1989, bombings were in 1999, EXACTLY when Yugoslavia was bombarded by NATO, meaning that Sokovia and Kosovo share the history, just like we all presumed all this time.
The paper on the screen shows the date March 31, 1999. The bombings of Yugoslavia started March 23 and ended June 10, so it fits perfectly with the original Kosovo War timeline (meaning that either Sokovia is Kosovo in MCU, or Sokovia was part of Yugoslavia just like Kosovo). At the time NATO was trying to force Yugoslav armed forces to retreat from Kosovo (and to subdue president Slobodan Milošević). The rest of the paper reads “Sokovia Under Attack, US raid hits Sokovia with civilian casualties. Many are concerned for their lives”.
Wanda and Pietro were adults when they volunteered for Hydra experimentation and got radicalized by Hydra, which was very easy when you’re an angry orphan fighting for freedom of your country (believe me, I have tons of those here, and they are all very into all right ideology, so yeah, it’s very easy to radicalize those).
You don’t have to be a bad person to be radicalized. Nationalism is insidious and there is a very thin line between wanting your country to be better and actually turning into a neo-Nazi. A lot of people doesn’t see that line and crosses it.
BTW I respect that WandaVision tries to not demonize her, thanks to Monica vouching for her, that she doesn’t believe she does that maliciously. And I agree with both Jimmy and Darcy that new SWORD director is a dick. He is like all those anti-immigrant people who will watch immigrants like hawks for every minor slip to accuse them of everything bad. (Also we all know Lagos was Steve’s fault and if Steve just went to the public and said they were sorry and will try to do better in the future, Wanda’s situation would be so much better in CW).
EDIT: OMG, I am live commenting episode 5, ok? And now Wanda went full angry and dangerous, and I am like “WHOA, WHAT IS HAPPENING!?”
Wait for further comments. I dunno if they demonized her or not, because Monica trusts her. I mean my working theory was that Monica was sucked into the Westview, because she was feeling grief over her mother, that grief is a unifying feeling of all the people Wanda trapped, but Monica believes she invited Monica for a purpose and I don’t know if she is right or wrong yet.
Ok, so episode 6 spoilers.
Monica and “fake” Pietro both claim they were invited to the Hex, but Wanda has no recognition of ever inviting them, so it may be subconscious need of wanting to be freed from the Hex, even though consciously she refuses to leave it due to it being the only place she can actually be happy. There is something weird going on there. Wanda seems to be in complete control of the world she created, but at the same time she doesn’t know how it started, and it’s extremely fishy.
Third party, maybe? We do know Mefisto in the comics had connections to Wanda’s kids, and we know that she appears in Multiverse of Madness so... it is possible that someone influenced her to create the Hex and gave her everything she wanted, so she wouldn’t ever want to leave it, even if she becomes aware.
Also, why is Pietro the only one aware, while Vision gained awareness with time just like Wanda? Pietro was aware since day one, but Monica wasn’t. Why?
What is going on there, OMG?

Gonna make full use of my ‘comic rant’ tag and roast Future State: Superwoman.
Spoilers! And yelling! Of the disgruntled kind!
So a few things at the start here: 1.) I wanted to love this book. I wanted it to be great. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, in spite of some iffy stuff in the solicit text. So this rant is not coming from a place of having decided this was going to be awful ahead of time. 2.) My tolerance for bad Supergirl comics is pretty high! Takes a lot for me to actually come out and say that a particular issue is trash. Reader: This story is trash.
It’s not ‘middle-aged white guys writing/drawing a story about sending a minor to a potentially hostile planet fully nude’ trash, mind you. It’s the compost bin, rather than the landfill. Slightly nicer trash, but it still stinks to high heaven. Allow me to expand!
PROLOGUE - SUMMARY: ...I actually can’t summarize this comic b/c it would devolve into a lot of senseless yelling. We’ll just have to tease out this terrible plot as we go along.
PART I - DEAD DOGS TELL BAD TALES: The comic opens with Kara standing at Krypto’s grave. That’s not why this comic is trash, but it bears mentioning. Because why. Why would you do this.
PART II - IN WHICH IT ONLY GETS WORSE: So, Kara has a running inner monologue, and the main thing we gather from Kara’s thoughts is that it was Krypto who taught her to be a hero. On paper, that sounds very sweet! In practice, it reads as Kara having no moral center whatsoever—whatever good qualities she might possess, she did not learn from her parents, or her foster parents, or friends, or fellow heroes. Nor do they come from within Kara herself. Nope, t’was Krypto who taught Kara not to be a jealous rage monster. That is not hyperbole--Kara’s walking around angry about her cousin all the time and she’s like, ‘It was you, Krypto, who taught me not to judge, and to let go of anger.’ Listen, I love Krypto, but this? This is, as the youth would say, a bad look.
PART III - THOSE CERTAINLY ARE...SOME THEMES: The set-up here is that Kara is on the moon, and has established a sanctuary for alien refugees. That’s a dynamite idea! I love that! Buuuuut Kara didn’t look at the plight of alien refugees and say, ‘I want to help!’ Really, she didn’t even look at herself and say, ‘I don’t want others to feel like I’ve felt.’ No, she said, ‘Earth won’t accept me as a hero, and Clark didn’t name me protector of Earth, so. I’m out!’ (Honestly, if your moral compass is so whack that you need a dog to walk you back from Hulk-Smashing...can’t say I blame Clark for not picking you, Kara!) But apparently, the people on the moon don’t really like her either. And it is literally never explained why. There’s a whole montage of Kara fixing stuff and saving lives and all the moon folk just glare at her. This makes both the moon people AND Kara look like a**holes, because they come across as ungrateful, and she comes across as a glory hound. Thanks! I hate it! So the ‘peace’ Kara’s found on the moon isn’t really peaceful at all, cause she still resents her cousin, and people still don’t like her, in spite of the fact that she’s constantly performing acts of service for them.
Also, side note, I’m just now realizing this is an entire population of alien refugees...and Kara is somehow still the odd one out. Like, Earth I get, because everyone else is a human and maybe freaked out by the super powers. But a bunch of aliens? WHY. Why did you do this. Why did this need to be set on the moon with alien refugees if you’re not going to interrogate Kara’s identity as an alien refugee herself AND all of the aliens are inexplicably humanoid in appearance and utterly ordinary in terms of power levels.
Like. This is not the CW show, where they have a budget, and a huge ensemble cast to serve. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. AAARRRRRGHHHH.
PART III CONT’D: There’s also this weird ‘birthright’ element introduced...like, Clark and Jon stole Kara’s ‘right’ to be earth’s defender which is...a terrible reading of Kara’s modern origin. It brings in the idea that Kara is a ‘chosen one’ and because she didn’t get to be that chosen one, all of her hero work is for nothing. Never mind the whole central conceit of what makes Clark and Kara heroic...that they have this incredible power, and choose to do good with it. Nah...it’s all about her ‘right’ to protect the people of Earth! And mean ol’ Clark took that away! THANKS. I HATE IT.
PART IV - A POOR USE OF SPACE: So, all of the Future State books kind of struggle with the issue of too much exposition, which is understandable. They have to introduce an entirely new status quo in a very limited amount of literal page space, so you *really* have to have a handle on how you allocate your time and focus.
Introducing a brand new, lore-heavy heroic character who gets all of the development and dynamic art and pulls focus away from the character you’re meant to be writing is a bad use of a two issue limited series.
Like, this is a crappy Supergirl comic but it’s a great backdoor pilot for a Lynari ongoing, I guess.
Imagine if in the Jon Superman book, they introduced a random, brand new best friend for Jon, and he got the big character arc instead of Jon. That’s something you save for an arc in an ongoing title, NOT A TWO ISSUE EVENT COMIC.
Back to said new character, there’s a lot of forced attempts to parallel Kara and Lynari, but Lynari’s backstory is so confusing, rushed, and poorly explained that it’s like: okay, they’re both...angry? And the moon jerks hate them? ...uh. Okay.
(I’m gonna bring back my ‘why is this set on the moon, even’ question so that my ‘poor use of space’ header becomes a better joke.)
PART V - I'M HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO...B/C THERE SURE AIN’T ONE HERE: I’ve already mentioned that Krypto was apparently Kara’s conscience so when Lynari’s aunt arrives to...kill them? (again, everything about Lynari’s backstory is rushed and poorly explained) Kara gets real mad and basically pulls a Gothel: ‘You want me to be the bad guy? Fine! Now I’m the bad guy.’ But thank goodness Lynari is there to tell Kara no! Don’t murder the giant aunt eel! Lynari then steals Kara’s powers and gives up the swamp jewel that’s been hidden inside their body and now their aunt is less murder-y!
WOW. Couldn’t even give the big damn hero moment to Kara in her own book, huh?
So the day is saved. It takes Kara a while to regain her powers, and it’s only then, when she’s no longer ‘above’ the moon jerks, that they’re like, ‘oh, we like her!’ There is a bit of narration about how that attitude is awful. But that narration is provided by Lynari. See, the inner monologue is no longer Kara’s thoughts, but rather it has switched to Lynari’s point of view. They’re telling us this story. And do you know why?
PART VI - WHY THIS COMIC *SUCKS*: KARA DIES. SHE’S THE FRIGGIN’ ‘SECOND GRAVE’ OF THE TITULAR ‘TWO GRAVES’
Fudge this comic to heck.
See, Kara dies on the moon, presumably of old age. She’s buried next to Krypto. And this random character who we’re suddenly supposed to care about tells us her story. Not Clark. Not the Danvers. Not Brainy. Not even one of the supporting cast members from her solo title. No one from Kara’s life is mentioned at all, save for Jon and Clark, and they’re pretty much relegated to flashbacks of Kara punching them.
PART VII - TIME TO COMPARE DEATHS, I GUESS: First and foremost can I just say that I hate that’s a sentence that I’m typing about Kara in the year of our lord, 2021. But okay: Kara’s big famous death in Crisis stopped the entire DC universe cold. Everyone paused in the middle of the destruction of the multiverse to mourn her loss and honor her (GENUINELY HEROIC) sacrifice. Clark and Barbara--two established characters with a strong connection/relationship to Kara--offered lovely eulogies.
This one: Kara gets to die of old age in obscurity after a lifetime of striving to be recognized and only achieving it by de-powering and serving a population of jerks.
Not the warm and fuzzy ending you think it is!
(Meanwhile, Clark lives for millennia and spawns an entire dynasty of Els, all of ‘em out there, protecting the cosmos. I was looking forward to House of El in the hopes of maybe seeing some Kara stuff but NOPE. Thanks to Superwoman, we’re probably not gonna see any future Kara stuff beyond this! G R E A T)
And like, the argument could be made that this ending makes Kara happy. This is the life she chooses! She wants to be alone and garden on the moon! Except, we get zero insight from Kara regarding the remainder of her life. We only have Lynari’s narration and some montage shots...nearly all of which focus on other characters. But honestly, even if we did get Kara’s side of things, I doubt it would shed much light on her feelings, bEEECAUSE...
PART VIII - SUPER BLAND: This Kara really has no personality outside of ‘detached and vaguely bitter.’ I like Sauvage, I think she’s an incredibly talented artist, but here, Kara is stiff and her expression often reads as aloof. She’s very pretty, but it comes at the expense of being expressive. (And I know Sauvage can do expressive stuff...because Lyanari gets to be expressive.) Like...I love that shojo manga vibe but this is a Kara devoid of spark and warmth.
...Like...Melissa Benoist’s portrayal of Kara is right there...
I’ve already sort of touched on this but her inner monologue doesn’t have much personality either. She’s just parroting the same, ‘I need to do as Krypto taught me!’ nonsense for both issues. Until, of course, we shift to Lynari’s narration, and lose Kara’s thread entirely.
PART IX - LET’S WRAP THIS UP: This book frustrates me to no end because it had a lot of stuff going for it. It’s got a female writer and artist--still a rarity for the Supergirl book--it’s a limited series mostly free of continuity and character baggage, and it’s not tied down to the grimdark cyberpunk stuff happening in the Gotham books. YOU COULD’VE DONE ANYTHING. And, once again, DC goes with a pitch that’s: Kara is angry, Kara resents Clark...and Kara dies.
It’s also happening...right as Kara has no dedicated ongoing title, the movie’s been shelved, the TV show is entering its sixth and final season, and all promotion has shifted to new CW and HBO shows.
*screams into the void*
MAAAAAAN I hate this book. I hate that it retroactively makes me hate the Andreyko run a little bit--a run that I took to be about a traumatized young woman forced to confront her grief, and who leans on a beloved animal companion for comfort. Here, Krypto is L I T E R A L L Y the reason Kara’s not constantly frying folks with her heat vision.
I hate that this book has made me use the word ‘literally’ so much in this rant.
I hate that this could possibly be more in continuity than Millennium.
Remember Millennium? Where Kara was in like...five pages? And she was warm, and kind, and promised to help Rose because it was the right thing to do, and oh yes, WAS PRESIDENT OF EARTH?!??! AND A CLASSY OLD LADY!?!?!?!?! WHO WAS STILL ALIVE AND KICKIN’ IN THE FAR FLUNG FUTURE!?!?!?!?!
I hate that I’m using my lunch hour to rant about how much I hate this comic.
I hate that DC editorial seems hell-bent on erasing the interesting aspects of Kara’s character to sand her down to ‘the angry one’ or ‘Batman 2.0′
PART X - LET’S END ON SOME (?) POSITIVES: Don’t read this book! Don’t do it! Don’t waste your time and money!
Instead, check out ANYTHING ELSE. If you want mom!Kara, read Tom Taylor’s ‘Last Daughters of Krypton’ in the DC Nuclear Winter special. If you want heroic oldlady!Kara, read Millennium. Honestly? Pick up anything by Bendis that has Supergirl in it. It is miles away better than this. You want angry Kara working through her grief? Andreyko, Red Lantern, even Infected. ANYTHING BUT THIS. HECK, grab Superman of Metropolis instead! That has bad Kara characterization but at least she doesn’t end up dead.
Anyways. This comic is bad. I wish it wasn’t! And this is now the SECOND TIME IN A ROW that Kara’s book ends on a terrible note before the character disappears from monthly comics for an unknown period of time.
*screams into the void again*

CW: Wandavision Spoilers
Alright, I really didn’t think anyone was going to agree with my theory about Loki showing up somewhere in Wandavision, so I decided to post the rest of the info I collected on the possibility!
Note: all of this could be a stretch, so it’s mainly wishful thinking. but, i still think it’s an interesting possibility
- so firstly, i think the wandavision q/a had a little more to do with the show than realized. benedict cumberbatch and tom hiddleston both had time to say something, but so did anthony mackie, to which elizabeth olsen said “well you’re not in this one.” could just be meaningless, or it could be a hint to who the secret actor could be
- that being said, the secret cameo was NOT pietro. there is still one more, because paul bettany said the secret actor hadn’t been leaked (evan peters as pietro had). it is someone paul bettany has not worked with but always wanted to, bringing us back to benedict cumberbatch or tom hiddleston
- the sokovian lullaby: i really wish i could find who translated it, but the last line really struck me. “sunlight shines on you” is a pretty significant line close to the one associated with one of loki’s last statements
- i also think this could be the reason we never got that loki trailer. maybe they realized it contained spoilers and that they had to wait until after wandavision was finished. or maybe they just didn’t care about the loki fandom as usual. either is plausible
- Kat Dennings actually recently spoke about the possibility of a loki and darcy team up, joking about the popular ship and how she would love the idea
- pietro’s comments and stuff are what really made me suspect he could be loki. he provoked outrage from wanda while joking about pietro dying twice, and he overall has this need to get information from wanda, making me think he could be there for the TVA. after all, mephisto is obviously going to be in his show too, seeing as in the comics he always shows up
- pietro also does the “eyebrow raise thing” numerous times. i haven’t seen x-men in ever so i can’t remember if it’s a character thing for him, but i know it’s one for loki
- in real life, Evan Peters has that MOM tattoo. they wound up not covering it up, but instead positioning it right in front of the camera. it got me thinking, and wondering, if that could be an acronym for “MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS,” meaning that whoever pietro is will be in that movie. again, a stretch, but just a little interesting
- with this whole show having a lot of sorcerers in it, it would make sense to bring in a couple more of the most powerful. i’ve also kind of theorized about the chances of amora popping up, but that would need a whole other post

March 2021 Picks!
Okay, this is pretty shocking. I am actually starting this review with two weeks of March left! However, you will notice that I haven’t watched a ton of stuff this month. Instead I’ve been reading more for my program. I have continued with some favorites though, and even finished some series.

Here come the spoilers....

NANCY DREW
I HAVE to start off talking about the CW’s Nancy Drew because I am LOVING IT this season. Wednesday’s cannot come fast enough (as you have probably seen on this page already). I am SO obsessed that I have actually started re-watching season 1 again (got it as a X-mas present, but available with HBO Max). It’s just SO GOOD! Obviously, I remember how that mystery concludes, but there’s things I’m noticing that I didn’t the first go round and even a few things I forgot. Some of those episodes feel like a lifetime ago because it was a pre-Covid world. Watching this show just makes me so happy. There’s great writing, plot, and THIS CAST! They are AMAZING. It is rare that I can say I like an entire show’s cast. That’s how you know you have a hit. I love the pairs. George and Nick are such a good match and make so much sense. I know they are not canon in the original series, but this show is its own thing and I think the choices they made with George and Nick’s characters are great. I just want George to be alright. She’s been through so much already. I also LOVE the potential of Nancy and Ace and I seriously think we’re headed there with the show. So many breadcrumbs and I am loving them all. I often re-watch a lot of the episodes instantly to make sure I have found them all. (See my page lydia-yougowith-stiles for more gushing on that.) Now we just need Bess back with Lisbeth and everything would be golden.

WANDAVISION
I LOVED the ride that was Wandavision. I have never watched anything like it and I don’t think I ever will get that same experience again. It was so tough to wait for a new episode every Friday and it’s crazy that we haven’t had a new one for two weeks because it’s over. (Haven’t started Falcon and the Winter Soldier yet, but plan to.) I can definitely see myself re-watching the series as a whole in the very near future. I loved all the speculation and fan theories out there after each episode was released. I know some people are upset that they decided not to include some stuff, but I was okay with it. I feel there’s so much potential and we’d love to see it all, but there’s also the hope we can see more of it with Wanda’s character in the future. For an Avenger who was underrepresented in the MCU she FINALLY has the recognition of being one of the strongest people out there. I cannot wait to see where she is headed in Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. I feel this is not the end of “Vision” and the boys either. I seriously loved their family and the scene (which I chose the above picture from) was one of my favorite moments of them. We got to see them fight as a family, which made it even heartbreaking later.

SUPERMAN AND LOIS
From one super family to the next, I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I have enjoyed the CW’s latest additional to the Arrowverse: Superman and Lois. While I am feeling the burnout of the CW’s superhero shows, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel specifically for Superman and Lois. The trailer didn’t draw me in, but I decided to still record and watch the pilot. I am very happy that I did. I love the tone of the show and the decision to show an older Clark and Lois raising their twin sons. (Even though I am continually feeling like Tyler Hoechlin is far too young to have 14 year old twins. He’s 33, so that “would” have made him 19, but it still feels like they try to make him look older as Clark.) As a lover of Smallville (which was my first real experience with superheroes), I love being back in the small, farm town and seeing Clark at his roots. Lois is great and very Lois like in her wanting to take down Morgan Edge. The couple has great chemistry and they feel like a family with the boys. I liked the twist (even though I felt it coming) that Jordan has powers and Jonathan is “just” athletic. While I liked that this was a way for Jordan to bond with his dad, I am hopeful that Jonathan will get something later down the line. If not then I hope he becomes more like the Stiles and stays human but can be apart of the team in another way. I don’t want him to go evil or anything because of his lack of powers. I really enjoy his character and how supportive he is for his brother.

BLOWN AWAY SEASON 2
The second season of Blown Away came to Netflix at the perfect time. I was missing this show after watching the first season in the later half of 2020. Glass blowing is something I knew nothing about, but was drawn in by the trailer of this competition show. It was so mesmerizing and satisfying to watch (although, I would never try it myself). With the season being so short, I was ecstatic to discover the show got renewed for a second season. This latest season was just as fantastic and we tried to drag out watching the episodes as long as we could to make it last even longer. Seriously, check this show out if you love interesting competition shows that you’ve never seen before. You’ll be wanting to book a trip to visit the Corning Glass Museum in NY.

VIOLETTA
Well, your girl did it! After three seasons of 80 episodes a piece, I FINISHED Disney Channel South America’s telenovela VIOLETTA. What a fun ride it’s been. From eagerly awaiting the next season to be released on Disney Plus, to adding the songs to my phone. I feel like my Spanish improved, but I’m sure once the subtitles are removed I’ll be hopeless. This was such a fun time with some out of this world stories, but they were so entertaining. While there were times I wanted certain plots wrapped up, I understood why they were dragged out because of the length of the show. Season three as a whole wasn’t my favorite. While the beginning was very strong, the middle was rough and I found myself taking a lot of pauses. (I really felt I needed to finish when my sister-who started long after me-finished the show and I was still on like episode 50.) Despite, all of this, it did pick up in the last 20 episodes and I just wanted to marathon through because it was so good. Once I was finished I felt so accomplished and a bit sad. I want to continue watching South American Disney shows available on Disney Plus, but due to the long commitment I think it will be some time before I do. Plus, right now I would definitely compare it to Violetta a lot because I just finished it and it was my first experience.

Wandavision spoilers 🚨
I’m still at a loss of words.
First: Wanda’s new outfit? It’s the ultimate perfection, I’m serious in love with that outfit, I can easily say that it’s the most beautiful suit in the MCU (of the women’s outfits). It also fits her so god damn well.
At the same time that it reminds us of the comics, it doesn’t sexualize her at all. I remembered Elizabeth once said in an interview she didn’t feel really good in her Scarlet Witch outfit (the one from CW, IW and Endgame) because it showed too much of her breasts and it felt uncomfortable for her.
As I said in a previous post, Paul Bettany was indeed talking about himself when he spoke about an actor he’s always wanted to work with.
I’m a little confused about Vision in this ep: we see Vision vs. White Vision, but then Vision puts his memories in White Vision, and I thought that with his memories in White Vision he wouldn’t disappear when the hex ended.
It was heartbreaking seeing Wanda and Vision saying goodbye to Billy and Tommy. I really hope in Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness somehow the twins will appear again, and this time as teenagers/young adults.
I was right about one of my theories: Fietro was indeed Ralph.
Just as Teyonah said, the ending was sad, but I quite like it.
About Monica: that post credit scene, that skrull might be her friend from Captain Marvel. Perhaps when she pointed to the sky, she was talking about Fury? Probably.
