Puzzle Pieces (Mafia!Miguel x Shy!Reader)
Part 1 of who knows how many parts :)
Warning: Eventual Smut so Minors DNI, mentions of abuse, blood, murder, language, fluff, bullying, mentions of sex
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The heavy sound of rain flood the streets of Nueva York. The dim street lights felt faded as the mist blocked their glow. Despite the downpour that washed the streets, the stench of blood still lingered. A foul odor that could never truly be cleaned from this city.
Nueva York was riddled with crime. Each part of the city was owned and govern by their own mafia. Drugs, alcohol and fights were always a topic and always a cause to stay indoors. Only the smart stayed away from the mafia. They were the ones to survive this city unscathed. They were the ones to avoid trouble.
You had just moved into the city, unaware of its true face, nor did you really have a choice. You were desperate to get away from your old life. Despite for a fresh start. So much so, that you landed in one of the worst parts of the city. The place you rented was small, but it was enough to keep you hidden.
A soft whimper escaped your lips as you near cried at the sight of a roach. Tears threaten to spill as you sprayed the roach spray against the foul creature for dear life. You had just moved into the place. You were warned by your friends and family of the filth of the city, but they didn't know anything. They didn't know the pain you were in.
"Ew, ew!" You whined as you grabbed the broom, throwing the roach away.
Once you were freed from that horrid task, you continued to clean and unpack. You double checked everything for roaches and mice, wanting to sleep soundly for once. You shuddered at the thought as you pulled out old photographs of your high school days. Within those pictures was the cause of your depature.
Your ex.
You had fled your hometown due to your abusive ex-boyfriend, Eddie Brock. The man was so kind to you at first, treating you well until you officially started dating. Your college life was cut short due to his beatings and yelling. You were always at fault. You could never be good enough for him. You were always the problem.
The thought made you sob. You moved to this city on a whim thanks to your small job. You just wanted to stop living in that hell. Everyone loved your ex. They never truly saw what he was. They never even asked how you were.
"I-I need to s-stop crying." You whispered to yourself as you looked out the window, "I-I have work tomorrow. I...I need to be ready."
-----------
Meanwhile, a few blocks over, Miguel was sitting before his large patio, watching the rain. He held a glass of vodka in his hand, watching the lightening brighten the sky more than the city lights itself. He inhaled to the loud roar of thunder before being interrupted by a knock at his door.
"Que? (What)" He hissed lowly. Lyla smiled as she walked over with a folder, placing them on his desk,
"Just something for the morning." She chirped and approached the door, "There's another one waiting outside. Shall I send her in?"
"Ha, and get some fake praises. She can only come in if she wants a quick fuck. I won't deal with gold diggers." Miguel grumbled.
Lyla just hummed in response before shutting the door. Miguel could only groan in annoyance as he placed his glass down. His night would have been better off alone. Closing the blinds to his patio, Miguel approached his desk to the file. It was going to be another long day tomorrow.
---------
There was a scurry to your step as you tried to please your new boss. It was your first day working in the chain supermarket, and you were stressed. This version of your old job was far busier, louder and ruder than what you were used to. You were a shy and quiet person, so having so many people yell and pull you around was breaking you.
"(Y/N)! Deli needs a hand, you ever did that?" One of your coworkers asked. You flinched at the sudden yell,
"I-I have helped packaged an-"
"Good enough, go help and put a kick in it!"
You just agreed and hurried to the deli. You grabbed a hair net and gasped lowly at your fellow coworkers there. They were all so tall and mean looking. You were like a deer in headlights the moment they saw you enter their kitchen. You just bowed your head slightly and quietly made your way to the meat wrapping station.
"Why'd they put her here? She don't know anything yet," One of the taller men whispered. You're ears perked up since whispers weren't exactly in their volcabulary,
"She's a scaredy cat. Ain't nothing comin' outta her mouth. Same like the rest of us,"
You wanted to ask them what they were talking about, but you were too scared to find out. That, and you learned the harsh lesson of minding your own business. Dear ol' Eddie gave you that cruel lesson. Shaking your head at the thought, you didn't want to be known as the employee who cried on their first day.
"Hey, new kid," One of your coworkers called out, approaching you, "Yer new here, so let me warn you. We got three freezers in the deli. One is full of the fresh meat we get. Leave that to us big guys. You can enter the second freezer with the small cuts for the customers. The third freezer, you never enter. Don't ask questions about it. Don't peak into it. Just pretend it never exists. Oh, and don't make eye contact with those who enter it."
"Okay,"
Hell fucking no. You were going to stay far away from dear freezer number three. That was a lot more information than you even wanted to hear. Hell, you weren't a fan of entering freezer number two. Once your coworkers were reassured by your understanding, they returned to work.
Your hands trembled over your station as you tried to focus on your job with the seven men yelling around you. This was your sad new life. You had to get used to this. You were either going to make it in the city or die trying.
--------
Miguel lazily glanced out his window seat, spotting the upcoming supermarket. There was a rumble in his throat as he leaned back in his seat. His men tailing behind him in different cars. Miguel told his driver to stop, wanting to walk the rest of the way while his men parked around back.
"Peter, take our guest into the freezer. I'm going to make a pit stop at the deli," Miguel said over the phone.
"Miguel, we talked about this. You're the boss, let us handle the work." Peter tried reasoning over the phone.
Miguel wasn't even paying attention. He hung up and proceeded to enter the supermarket. His presence alone made the managers cower and the workers silent. Of course, none of the regular customers knew anything. None of them suspected that he, Miguel O'Hara, CEO of Alchemax, was the leader of the Spider Mafia. One of the biggest and ruthless mafia in town.
"The usual?" One of the deli men questioned. Miguel glanced over his shoulder, noticing you shaking like a leaf while avoiding your coworkers,
"And they say I'm cruel. New hire?"
"Transfer from out of town," The man replied.
Miguel raised a brow towards you. You were pale in the face as you apologized for getting in people's way. Miguel couldn't help but snort. It was cute. Something he was not used too. Returning his attention to the deli worker, Miguel could only smirk as he watched his men drag their guest into freezer number three.
"The bird needs to be plucked." Was all Miguel said for the man to understand.
-------
You whimpered softly as you moved away from everyone's path. It had gotten far too busy for your liking. Once you caught a break, you noticed the deli supervisor talking to a handsome man. You tilted your head, stealing a glance. The man was tall and gorgeous. He wore a slick all black suit. Something very fancy for this part of town.
The man took notice of you and smiled. Your cheeks immediately started to heat up as you quickly returned to your job. As you did, you noticed some men enter the third freezer. You paled instantly. It was your first day! Biting you lower lip, you tried to focus on your work. Right as you did, you noticed the handsome man from earlier walk by you and towards the freezer,
"Keep up the good work, conejita (bunny)." He whispered.
You felt your heart race as the door shut. His voice was so deep and low. If only he hadn't entered the freezer. Perhaps, you would have gotten to know him as a regular.

💌
supervisor!Simon
Monday you stood outside of Simon’s office, hesitant to knock on the door, no response from your best friends manager all weekend, you were starting to lose hope in your escape. Now you have to postpone your whole plan. You thought you had everything in the bag. Simon has something to do with this, you swear. He did some kind of Supervisor black magic. Knocking twice on his door you twist the knob and let yourself in.
“Can I help you?” He said not looking up from his screen. “Possibly,” you respond.
Simon looks up, squinting his eyes, “What'd Ya need?” Simon answered clearly annoyed by your presence, assuming this was your official “break-up” statement. “I don’t think I’ll be leaving anytime soon.” you bit your lip, trying to conceal any embarrassment that was evident on your face. “Lemme guess, Johnny's got you hooked?” Simon snickered.
“Uh, no?”  you say watching Simon’s large frame get up from his chair. “No? Why the uncertainty? ” Simon's brow quirks up, “Personal stuff.” you mumble, “So you’re not quitting.” Simon assured himself. “That’s why I’m here right?” you sigh.
“How’s Johnny, with all this?” Simon asks, waving around the freshly printed papers he got from the machine. “He’s good, a quick learner.” You gush about the blue eyed man, Simon was quick to notice, “I take it you enjoy his company?” Simon sat back down. “He’s a cool guy.” you hum, “A cool guy…hm.” Simon nods, rocking his chair, “Anything else?” he asks and you shake your head no. You walk out of his office, surprised he didn’t flip out and cause a scene. Walking back to your desk, Johnny sat across from Linda, who sits one desk behind you, he gives you a small wave, causing a small smile to form on your lips.
An email notification pop on the corner of your screen,
Subject: “cool guy”
Maybe you could give Cool Guy a highlighted section of the handbook.
Best,
S.R.
-
“Wanna grab lunch?”  you look up from your screen and there he was, standing at the side of your desk, “I got like 10 more minutes.” You say. “I can wait.” He offered, shoving his hands into his pockets. You think about it for a second, and wave Simon’s email out of your mind.
“What’s an early lunch?” you shrug as you clock out for your break. You grab your bag and say a silent prayer hoping Simon won’t notice the ten minute difference. “What’s around here?” Johnny asks, opening the door for you, “I like to go to the supermarket.” You pause remembering the last time you were at the supermarket, “Or a coffee shop, something quick.” you reply. Johnny just nods, “I noticed your accent,” Johnny chuckles at your observation, “I noticed yours too.” He smirked (SCOTLAND FOREVAAAAAAAAAA). You suppress a screech, my god is he attractive. “Where’re you from?” you ask, “Scotland.” he answers, “ahh '' you nod.
You both walked in silence, it was kind of awkward. Last time you had a companion on this little field trip, he was trying very hard to make conversation. “You were in the Military?” you try to break the silence, “Uh yeah.” he responds, “What was that like?” you prod. “It was the military.” he jokes, avoiding the question, “You ever kill anyone?” He looks at you with wide eyes, “Sorry I just had to ask.” You blurt out, causing the corners of his eyes to crinkle up, “you’re fine.” he waves off your worry, “Do you think I did?”  he questioned, “maybe, who knows.” you say in a sing-song voice.
-
You hit up the deli in the grocery store, ordering the usual. You and Jonny watch as the elder man assembles your sandwiches, “I like your shoes.” You look down at your feet, “thanks I just bought them at the thrift store.”  you beam. “You got a thing for feet?” You say and  the older man looks up from your sandwich with a face of disgust, only for Johnny to let out a loud cackle.
You both settle outside, eating your lunches, chatting, goofing around. “Are you still leaving?” Johnny balls up the wax paper that held his sandwich together. “Doesn’t look like it these days.” you take a sip from your drink. “Why’s that?” Johnny wonders, “I haven’t heard anything since last week.” you say wearily. “Which is kind of a sign, but I just want to get out of here.” You sigh.
Johnny frowns, “He’s that bad?” you bite your cheek, is he really that bad? Yes. No.  “Sometimes he’s nice.” you mention. “One time he bought me a Snapple from the vending machine cause I didn’t have cash.” Johnny lets out a snort, “Whatta Gentleman.” he rubs his thighs, “Maybe we should get going.” he nods you along.
-
You both walk into the office giggling into each other, small laughs catching the attention from the people around you. Entering the back of the office, Simon stood outside his office door arms crossed and pissed off. “You have your fun?” He scowled. You and Johnny look at each other,
“Simon we were-” Johnny started but was quickly cut off, “You're both 15 minutes late, and you,” Simon looks directly at you, “ We’re having a discussion later. Johnny in my office, now.”
-
You finished all your work and sat with your hands in your mouth, biting your nails from the anxiety. It felt like there was a dark cast around Simon’s door. You could hear his voice from the other side of the door, occasionally you would look around the room and see everyone  trying to make out the conversation.
Eventually the door opened and Johnny walked out, heading straight for his desk. Not a glance your way. Simon stood in the doorway, making a come hither motion at you, that sort of turned you on but you ignore it. You swallow the lump in your throat and walk towards the looming office.
-
“Sit.” He pointed at the chair, and that lump returned. Simon leaned his body on the desk before you. His eyes focused on you, you both sit in silence. That nervous pit still not leaving as Simon looks down at you, “You know why you’re here.” Simon scolded, “I didn’t mean-” Simon holds up a finger, you shut your mouth in a thin line.“I saw you take lunch 10 minutes earlier,” he adds.“ You had a 10 minute head start, and an extra 15 minutes.” Amber eyes looking into yours.
“I gave you the responsibility to train him, to teach him and you blew it off.” Simon exclaimed, “Why do you disappoint me so?” His voice wavers, “tell me,” he walks around his desk and plops himself on the large chair. “ It was an accident. I forgot to look at the time.” Simon rolls his eyes, “Not true.” you furrow your brows, “Not true?” “No.”
“You know why you disappoint me, say it.” he nags. “Simon I don’t know-”
“Yes you do.” Those big brown eyes don’t let up, staring into yours intently, making the deepest parts of you shake. “Do you like him?”  Your brows are knitted together so badly you can feel the crease form in your skin. “Johnny?” You say and it almost sounds like you were accused. Simon nods. “I don’t know.” you let out a big exhale. “Is he nice?” you nod again. “Nicer than me?”
“You’re not nice.” Simon cocks a brow, “You have your job.” he says and you scoff, “Because you don’t want to be reported to HR.” you snap. “Any person with sense knows you have to build a paper trail.” he snickers, “Opposed to a coffee stain, or an earbud, or god forbid they wear the wrong type of sweater.” you argue, “Maybe they forget the date one too many times, wear headphones when I clearly say no headphones. Or maybe they decide they want to take a 15 minute break, with their new work boyfriend!” Simon retaliated. “It’s not like that.” you sneer.
“Oh I'm sure it isn't. you two have been flirting ever since he walked through that door.” His jaw set, anger radiating off of his body.
“I can’t deal with this.” you say, letting out an exasperated sigh, “I’ve tried to. And  I’ve tried to ignore you and your tantrums,” you pause, “I quit.” you finish.
Simon felt the anger slip off his body and be replaced with dread. Not able to say anything he watched as you walked out of his office finally, sniffling and wiping your face with the sleeves of your sweater. Simon sat on his chair, not moving, breathing still as he could. He could see you getting your bag from your chair and walking right past his door for the very last time. He could see Johnny’s face full of concern.
Those big brown eyes, locked on the chair you sat in, wishing he could have approached it all differently.

favoritism
pairing: tony dinozzo x reader
summary: mcgee notices that tony is nicer to you than he is to anyone else on the team, so he calls him out on it. then, tony has to swoop in to protect you from your aggressive boyfriend.
word count: 2.2k
Tumblr media
You, Tony, and McGee had just made it back to the office after visiting a crime scene. McGee was mad at Tony because he let you sit in the front seat.
“McGee don’t look so sad. You’ll get frown lines.” Tony said, looking over at McGee pouting. He just glared at Tony. “McGee, I would’ve given you the seat if I knew you cared this much.” You told him, honestly.
“Thank you, but I’m not mad at you. I’m mad at Tony.” He said, giving you a smile and then glaring at Tony.
You giggled to yourself at their childish nature. Tony and McGee were always feuding over something. “You are the probie. Y/N has seniority, therefore, she gets shotgun.” Tony explained.
McGee just rolled his eyes. You walked over to McGee’s desk and hugged him from behind. He rested his hand on your arm. “I’m sorry, Tim,” you said, kissing the top of his head.
“Tony, you are so full of it. It’s not a seniority issue. It’s because you think she’s pretty, which you are, of course.” McGee explained his point. Tony was shocked. Of course, Tony was absolutely attracted to you, but for McGee to reveal that.
“Do you give me special treatment because you think I’m pretty, Dinozzo?” You asked him, cocking your head to the side. Ducky, who was walking by at the time, replied “of course he does.”
“I think you’re jealous, McGee” Tony suggested, desperate to change the subject. You leaned your head to rest on McGee’s shoulder. “Don’t listen to him, Timmy.” You whispered before heading down to Abby’s lab to discuss something with her.
When you came back up, Tony was eating a sandwich at his desk. “Oh that smells really good. Is that from Bert’s deli down the street?” You asked, sitting down at your desk. Tony nodded his head and gestured for you to come over.
“Take a bite,” he encouraged, as he handed you the sandwich. He stared intently as you took a bite, watching your reaction. “Mmm, that’s good. Thank you,” you said, kissing him on his cheek.
Tony had a cheeky grin on his face. You turned around and saw McGee was frowning again. “What’s wrong, McProbie,” Tony teased.
“I missed lunch and asked if I could have some of your sandwich. You told me no.” McGee said, with his jaw clenched. Tony slid his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. “Not to damper your confidence, McGee, but you’re not as pretty as Y/N is,” Tony said, smiling up at you.
Gibbs walks in the room, causing you to run back to your desk. Gibbs didn’t even say a word. He just pointed at McGee. “The system is still running. We haven’t got any hits yet.” McGee said, bracing for the wrath of Gibbs.
You noticed the disappointed expression on Gibbs’s face. “I got it, boss,” Tony said, throwing a balled-up piece of paper at McGee.
Gibbs turned to you next. “I’m still trying to get the files from the police department. They are being slow to respond though.” you explained. Gibbs nodded, and no piece of paper came flying at you.
McGee looked around, not believing what he was seeing. “Nothing for her? Really?” McGee asked, looking over at Tony.
“She’s his favorite. That’s how it goes,” Gibbs said, shrugging.
You stopped him. “Wait, what do you mean favorite?” You asked, curiously. Gibbs assumed this was common knowledge.
“Everyone’s got a favorite. Mine is Abby. Abby’s is McGee. You are Tony’s,” Gibbs explained. You considered what he was saying, and it made sense.
“I’m honored, Tony.” You said, smiling at him. He held up his hand in a salute. “No problem,” He said, giving you a cheeky wink.
“I want more answers when I get back.” Gibbs said, storming out of the room.
You stared at your silent phone, praying for the police department to call you back. You continued sending them emails and waiting for the phone to ring.
“Tony, I’m bored,” you whined, looking over at him. He could have melted from the sweet expression on your face. “C’mere,” he waved you over his desk.
You quickly walked over to his desk and sat on the side of it. “Entertain me,” you begged him. He rolled his chair closer to you. After placing his hand on your knee, he leaned in close to you. “I could find us an empty conference room. I could keep you entertained for at least an hour.” He jokingly flirted.
You giggled to yourself, moving his hand back down to your knee from where it had been inching up your leg. “I don’t think my boyfriend would appreciate that very much.” You admitted.
Tony frowned. He hated whenever you brought up your boyfriend. From what Tony heard from you, he wasn’t the best guy. Also, the few times they had spoken, your boyfriend was an asshole to Tony. Tony hated that you stayed with him.
“I don’t know what you mean. Your boyfriend is right here, and he doesn’t mind at all.” He said, gesturing towards himself. Joke flirting was one of the main ways you and Tony communicated, but some times it felt less and less like a joke.
“You’ll have to settle for work-boyfriend. Only if you play your cards right though,” you teased him.
You grabbed his hands in yours, pulling him to stand up. You spread your legs, so he could stand right in front of you. You wrapped your arms around his waist, hugging him. He slid his arms around your back, holding you tightly.
“I hate Baltimore PD. They’re dodging all my calls.” You complained into Tony’s chest. He used one hand to stroke your hair. “I could make some calls for you and see if I could pull some strings.” He offered, making you smile.
You squeezed him tighter. “Thank you thank you thank you,” you said, enthusiastically.
“Of course, I mean you’re the prettiest one here. You could probably ask me to do all work, and I would just say yes.” Tony said, shooting glares over at McGee for his earlier statement.
“Why the hell are you hitting on my girlfriend?” You heard someone yell behind you. You turned quickly and saw Kevin, your boyfriend. Tony instantly felt the mood change. He saw how aggressive Kevin looked.
You stepped in front of Kevin, keeping him from getting any closer to Tony. “Honey, Tony was just kidding,” you told him, trying to keep Tony uninvolved.
“Come on, McGoober,” Tony said, walking away with McGee to give you both some privacy. Kevin wasn’t done yet. “I’m keeping my eye on you,” he called after Tony.
Tony looked over his shoulder to make sure you were safe. You gave him a small nod. Tony and McGee sat down in the break room. “Why don’t you tell her how you feel?” McGee asked Tony.
Tony glared over at McGee. “And how do I feel about her?” He asked, playing dumb. Tony wasn’t exactly loving McGee trying to play relationship counselor.
“C’mon, you like her, Tony. You’re always smiling when she’s around. You get all excited when you see her. There’s nothing wrong with that.” McGee told him. Tony knew he was right. He knew he had feelings for you, but he shouldn’t.
“Yeah, except for that one thing. What was it? Oh yeah, that she has a boyfriend!” Tony said. His tone was dripping with sarcasm. McGee felt for his friend. “She has a shitty boyfriend that’s an asshole to her and her friends. You really think she’d pick that over her friend who cares about her more than anything?” McGee tried to reason with Tony.
Tony sighed to himself. He hated how complicated love was. He had found the perfect girl, but she was with someone else.
Someone else walked into the break room. As the door was briefly open, Tony heard you yelling at Kevin.
He jumped up from his seat, heading slowly back towards you and Kevin. He wanted to give you space to handle it, but also wanted to be close if Kevin crossed a line.
“Kevin, I said leave.” You snapped. Kevin grabbed your wrist forcefully.
Tony ran over immediately. He yanked Kevin’s hand off of you and stood in between the two of you.
“Hey, buddy. Pretty sure she asked you to leave,” Tony snapped. His fists were clenched at his side, and he was fuming. “Why don’t you just stay out of this? I’m trying to have a conversation with my girlfriend, not her coworker who’s hot for her.” Kevin countered, trying to push Tony to the side.
Tony flipped him around and slammed him against the wall. “Unless you want to get charged with assaulting two federal agents, you’re going to leave now and leave her alone.” Tony growled in his ear, shoving him towards the elevator.
As soon as the elevator doors closed, Tony raced over to you. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” He asked, examining your wrist for any bruises.
“I’m okay, Tony,” you said, a few tears slipping out of your eyes. He wrapped his arms around your waist, giving you a tight hug.
“I don’t want to cry on your shirt.” You said, trying to pull away from him. He tightened his grip. “I don’t mind, I promise.” He said, softly.
“Oh, why do you stay with him?” Tony muttered, thinking out loud. He continued to rub your back, trying to comfort you. “Who else am I supposed to date? You?” You asked him, and you felt him freeze. You didn’t even realize you said it until the words were out of your mouth.
“Let’s go get some fresh air.” Tony said, pulling you out to the balcony and sitting next to you on a bench.
You leaned your head over on his shoulder. “I’m sorry that Kevin tried to drag you into our fight. He told me that he slept with another woman this weekend. When I got mad and started yelling at him, he tried to justify it by saying that you and I must have hooked up at least a few times.” You explained the situation to him.
“Inside, you scoffed at the idea of dating me. Am I really that terrible?” He asked you, referring to your previous conversation. You quickly shook your head. “No, I just meant you wouldn’t reciprocate the way I feel about you. I didn’t think you would be a bad boyfriend at all.” You told him.
Tony tilted his head to the side, replaying what you said in his head. “And how do you feel about me?” Tony asked you, curiously. After years of waiting, he was almost there.
“That doesn’t matter. I knew you’d never feel the same way,” you deflected, worrying about Tony looking at you differently.
“I have been flirting with you for years trying to get you to see that I feel exactly the same way.” He whispered, leaning over towards your ear. You felt a shiver run down your spine. Did Tony really feel the same way?
“I thought you just had a flirty personality. I didn’t think anything of it.” You confessed. You knew it sounded stupid now. Tony chuckled to himself. “Nope, just with you,” he replied, nudging you with his leg.
You looked up at him. You could almost see a twinkle in his eye. “I know I shouldn’t, but I really wanna kiss you right now.” He said, almost like he was under your trance.
“Why shouldn’t you?” You asked him, scooting closer to him. “Well your very angry boyfriend probably wouldn’t appreciate it the most.” He said, glancing down at your lips.
You shook your head. “Ex-boyfriend. I was kicking him out cause I dumped him,” you corrected him.
As soon as Tony heard the words come out of your mouth, his lips were on yours. He didn’t want to waste a second.
His hands traced down your sides, landing on your hips. His thumbs drew little circles against your skin. You ran your fingers through his hair causing him to smile into the kiss.
He tightened his grip on your waist, picking you up so you were sitting in his lap facing him. “I’ve got you, sweetheart,” he whispered, in response to your shocked expression.
You wrapped your legs behind his back, and he moved his grip to the back of your legs. You held on tightly to him as he stood up, carrying you.
His lips didn’t leave yours for a second. He was in love with the taste of your strawberry lipgloss. He was sure it was all over his face, but he didn’t care.
He walked over to the wall, pushing you up against it. “You look so beautiful.” He mumbled against your lips. You smirked, seeing the effect that you had on him.
You both heard the door to the balcony slam open. “Taking the favoritism too far, Dinozzo. Back to work, both of you.” Gibbs snapped at you both.
You both rushed back to your desks. McGee noticed the shiny lipgloss covering Tony’s lips and the slight pink on his cheeks. McGee knew he was right about both of you.
Tony grinned at you over the top of his computer. He knew you’d both be finishing that later.

Spidey Sense
Pairing: hobie brown x Fem! Reader
Summary: hobie shows up at your place
A/n: I don't think this is my best but I need this man biblically.
Tumblr media
Was this finals week or your final week? You couldn't remember the last time you didn't have fun on a weekend. All you did once school let out on Friday was work through review packets given by your teachers. Currently, you were halfway through the chemistry papers.
It was Sunday afternoon and there was still plenty of work to do. Time for a break was yet to be seen on the horizon. Your brain was on autopilot as your hand absently scribbled across the paper and words slightly blurred as they reached your eyes. A band of tension was tight around your head; you knew a break was probably in order, but you couldn't take one. Not yet.
The chemistry packet was finally finished, and the history one began. By this point your eyelids were heavy while your brain struggled to stay on task. With a sigh, you hunched over your desk and inspected the first question harder, as if that would make it easier to work.
After a while, you finally got the first question. But before you could start the next one, you saw the bright sunlight shining in your room become partially blocked from your peripheral vision. You brushed it off, assuming it was only a plane or something until knuckles rapped against your window. With your attention caught, you whipped your head around to see Spider-Man holding a brown paper bag while crouched on the fire escape.
Confused, you finally left your chair to open your window, but not giving Hobie access inside.
Hobie looked at both of your hands pressed against the sides of your window then back at you.
"You gon' let me in, babe?"
With your lips pressed together, you shook your head. "Come back in like an hour thirty, Hobie."
The eyes of Hobie's mask squinted as he look around in feigned thought.
"But like what if I come in now?"
"I'm almost done with my work," you sighed. "We can do whatever after that."
"You still workin' on that?" He asked, tilting his head.
Another sigh left you as you brought a hand to your forehead, attempting to ease your growing headache.
"Yeah." You answered quietly.
Hobie didn't just swing by because he felt like it, even if he was missing hanging out with you all weekend. Ever since Friday, he had an odd feeling crawling over his skin that he couldn't shake. At first, he suspected it had something to do with President Osborne and his regime, but after some investigation Hobie found the dictator was still hiding after their last battle. It wasn't until he made his rounds through the city, and stopped a mugging close to your apartment, that Hobie realized. The crawling vibrated right through him, and it was all coming from you.
"Got a headache?" Hobie asked.
You kept your eyes squeezed shut. "Yeah."
"That the same shirt you took from my place Friday?" He looked at you in the distressed, blue sleeveless t-shirt that he knew was his.
"Maybe." You fiddled with the hem of his shirt.
"You eat anything since lunch yesterday?"
You fell silent for a moment as you looked at Hobie; you could see his dumb smile under his mask.
"Thought so."
Coming through the opening you made when your hand left the window, Hobie held the bag he had in front of you. You took it as he entered further into your room and removed his mask. Inside was your regular order from the local deli and a bottle of water. Hobie smirked as he heard the bag crinkle when you plunged your hand inside. He was at your desk looking over the absurd amount of work that you had been doing.
"History and trig? Baby, I could do this." Hobie offered, turning to you.
Shaking your head, you tried to get down the giant bite of sandwich you took. "No, I need to do those to pass my finals."
Hobie didn't listen, taking your pencil and scrawling through a few questions on the packets.
"The education system is just twelve years of teaching children how to conform to society and not question authority." He shrugged.
You laughed slightly at Hobie as you made your way next to him. As you leaned against Hobie, you took your pencil out of his hand and looked up at him.
"Yeah, but, I still wanna go to college."
Hobie hummed, nodding his head, "Hm...and I want that too because you want it," he brought his index finger to his chin as he took a brief thought. "Take a break, then."
With the smile on his face, you knew Hobie's idea of a break for you was cuddling and ignoring both of your responsibilities. While it didn't sound like a terrible idea, your first final was tomorrow. You could take a break when the work was finished.
You linked your arm around Hobie's. "Baby, thank you for the sandwich, but I swear, I'm almost done then we can do whatever you want."
With furrowed brows, Hobie brought his free hand over his chest. "This ain't 'bout me, babe, I said you need a break."
Before you could attempt to shoo him off again, Hobie made his argument for why he should stay.
"Ever since Friday, I've had the most bonkers feeling that I just couldn't figure out. But I was swingin' round here earlier when it hit me. You aren't taking proper care of yourself."
You looked up at Hobie with a puzzled look as a small laugh left your throat. "So you got spidey sense about me?"
Hobie shrugged. "Guess so."
"I didn't think it worked like that." You smirked.
"I ain't got Scooby-Doo."
You let go of Hobie and looked up into his eyes. "Well, if the spidey sense says I need a break, I guess these last two packets can wait."
As you took another bit of your sandwich, Hobie kissed your forehead.

There was a good chance you overdid it at the shooting range yesterday, if your sore muscles and oversleeping were anything to go by. The fact you dismissed all of your alarms at different times, without even attempting to get out of bed, was also a good indicator.
When you had realized you were late for work, the momentary panic was quickly chased away by the realization they probably weren’t even aware of when you got there so why worry about being on time? That mindset had you falling right back to sleep, not even the idea of San worrying about you could keep the sleep at bay.
Your phone going off startled you awake, knocking it onto the floor in the process and leaving you scrambling for it out of habit. You didn’t even check caller ID, hitting answer and expecting an emergency because why else would you be getting a call? After grumbling out your name, you froze up at the familiar voice on the other side. “Ah so you’re not dead?” Your nose scrunched up as you flung your feet over the side of the bed. “No Yunho, I’m not dead. Is there a reason you have my number and are calling me?” You scoffed out, taking one glance at your clock on your desk and wincing. Oh, it was that late? “I’ve been tasked with finding out why our beautiful Goddess hasn’t arrived at work yet despite it being an hour after her usual time and no notification was given. Considering how prideful you are of your job, I assumed death was the only reason to miss out.” He easily drawled over other muffled voices in the background, which did wonders for your imagination. It even overlooked his heavy sarcasm that might normally be a reason to bite back.
You spent several hours shooting targets to get these damned curious thoughts out of your head and apparently it was all for naught. Not like you could hear what was being said, but with all their secrecy, you could only blame it on one secret you now knew. “Just overslept, and didn’t think anyone would miss me enough that an hour would matter.” While that was true, an hour did have your panic spiking a little bit.
It was very unlike you to be this late, and the reason just had shame bubbling in your gut. Like hell you would tell Yunho that of course, trying to play it off as nonchalantly as you could.
“Aw, already tired of us? Every second counts, especially if you want to do field work so how about you get that cute ass out of bed and down here to the Precinct? You have work to do.” “Yunho you could say it nicely!” This time you heard the other voice, trying to pinpoint who. Yunho scoffed, pulling away from the phone a bit. “If you wanted it said nicely you could’ve called, Vice. It’s done so stop yapping.” “May I remind you that you insi-” Seonghwa’s voice was cut off as the call was dropped, leaving you a bit confused and plenty awake now.
The one thing that really stuck from that phone call was that, to an extent, your presence was noticed, and your absence was cause of enough concern that Yunho called you.
Whatever emotions were going to blossom from that, were derailed when you noticed many many notifications on your phone: all from the S.K Unit.
Right, your probation was up regarding them now. That was… you weren’t sure how to feel about it, but being late on time already you ignored the messages and started getting ready. Thirty minutes later and you were stepping into the precinct, unsure of what to expect. The lack of bodies around when you walked in was a tad disappointing, which you wouldn’t ruminate on, but finding a coffee and lunch on your desk from the deli was a nice surprise.
Since you were late- was left on a note in handwriting you didn’t recognize, but of course you haven't seen any of theirs enough to tell. San would be the most likely option, since he was the only one who knew your order, but you couldn’t put it past any of them with their ability to surprise you. Either way, you smiled down at the drink, just as you liked it, and didn’t care who it was from.
You sat down to enjoy your gift just as the phone on the desk beeped, line 3 flashing red. Right, probably should have let them know you arrived. “Yeah I’m here Seonghwa, sorry about that.” You called out after hitting the button to connect.
“We thought we heard the door. Glad you made it safely.” “Mhmm. What would you have me do? Captain mentioned field work but said it would take a few days?” Better to keep the conversation on work. Keep it on work.
Seonghwa chuckled on the other side, humming a bit in thought. “Wooyoung is taking care of San’s injuries so that will take a few days anyways. I suppose we can test your undercover skills, would you be up for that? I can talk to the Captain about the suggestion, we can get back to you by the end of the day. Why don’t you get more familiar with the other gangs in the meantime, we have a new board set up for you back here.”
One surprise after another, it was really throwing you for a loop. “Oh uh, sure. I’ll head back there after I eat then?”
“Take your time.” The line went dead afterwards, leaving you a bit lost.
“Huh… are they sucking up to me? This is… weird.” Mumbling to yourself, you shrugged it off after a moment and enjoyed your free meal and drink, checking the notifications finally from S.K. You only really looked at the names, not ready to read what they had to say.
Most were from Jisung and Felix, quite a bit from Changbin and a few from the two youngest as well. Hyunjin’s chat was the only one you read, which consisted of a miniature spiel about a cute guy he saw at the gym this ‘fine morning’ that could spice up your lack of a sex life. You scoffed, sending him a few choice emojis to tell him to kindly fuck off before finishing up your meal.
You couldn’t help but notice not a single message or call or anything from Chan or Minho, and it somewhat hurt. Did you really expect them to apologize though?
If they did, would they mean it?
Sighing, you grabbed your coffee and headed towards the back. No use worrying over those two, not when you just wanted to move on and do your job.
“Ah there she is, definitely not dead.” Yunho startled you when you stepped into the back, a smirk on his features as he leaned back against his desk. “Come to join the party?” Rolling your eyes, you ignored him and instead turned your attention to the board. It was definitely set up differently, several different faces and gangs by the looks of it. “What’s this?” “This is how downtown is run.” Mingi stood before the board, tacking up a picture before stepping back. “Downtown is where a majority of gang activity goes on. It’s mostly prostitution, illegal gambling rings and brothels, drug rings. It’s considered neutral territory despite being part of the Golden Circle and heavily run by the Pink Boas- but they’ll let anyone operate there for a fee. Most independent players will operate there as well.” “Like Hwon Taejin?” You sought out his picture instantly, jaw clenched as your eyes landed on the familiar face that had your blood boiling.
Mingi and Yunho shared a look before Mingi stood in your way. “Yes, but that’s not the point.” He narrowed his eyes on you while Yunho wouldn’t even look your way now. What the hell had suddenly gotten under their skin? Sure you expected hostility but this felt different. “Oookay, then continue.” Not your problem, that's what you told yourself, glancing back at the board.
“The point is, that downtown is where all the action happens. As ‘neutral’ ground, any deals or talks between gangs will happen here. Drops of product, money, but the most important is that fights don’t happen downtown, meaning less likely to get killed accidentally.” Yunho offered, a chip in his tone that was hard to miss at the end.
They couldn’t actually be worried you would get yourself killed? Is that where they were going with this? “So what I’m hearing is, this is the area I am most likely going to be in the field. Plenty of opportunities and information to pick up without my head getting blown to bits or choking on poison?” They both nodded solemnly. “New players are always watched carefully by the Pink Boas, and they don’t have to take you out on their turf. So it will also be a test to see how well you can maintain undercover. Course, no idea what you’ll be doing in the field, could just be doing stakeouts like Captain does.” You narrowed your eyes on Yunho as he shrugged, but he still wouldn’t meet your eyes.
Mingi also hadn’t insulted you once since you got here. Something felt off.
“What the fuck is it? What did I do this time or not do? What did you fuckers do?”
Both of them paused as you cocked your hip, hand nestling there with coffee in the other. “Uh, nothing?” “Exactly! No insults and you’re acting like a sad kicked puppy for fucks sake-” You jerked your chin at Mingi before pointing at Yunho. “And you were so snarky on the phone and when I walked in and now you’re like a ball of anxiety or some shit. The desk is going to break if you grip it any harder.”
Once more the two shared a look, Yunho’s grip relaxing on the edge of the desk so his veins weren’t popping out- which you totally hadn’t noticed multiple times- and Mingi’s cocky grin was back. But neither could give you an answer before Yeosang stepped in, calling your name. Great, another ass to deal with. “We were given orders to give you a bit of a break from our… abrasiveness. And I have some things to upload to your laptop, may I?” He held up a flash drive, his sculpted face impassive of any emotion. You couldn’t tell if he was good at hiding it or just didn’t have much emotion. Annoyance he had shown plenty of, is this what was left under it?
It felt… odd. You didn’t like it. “Yeah, I’ll give these two some time to, I don’t know, pull the sticks out of each other’s ass? Suddenly being nice to me? No thanks.” You shivered at the thought, making your way towards the hall to your desk. The laughter from the two that were left behind eased a knot in your chest you didn’t know was there.
“What do you need to upload?” Glancing back at Yeosang, you tried once more to get a read on him. A vibe or something, but he resembled a walking doll almost.
He opened his mouth to reply, eyes moving past yours and brows pushing together. You turned to see what had gotten his attention, just to visibly stiffen.
“Hey there Trouble.”
“Don’t even start.” You pointed your finger at him, hoping he didn’t notice the sudden tremble. “You don’t get to call me that any more, Chan.”
Really, what right did he have to walk into your new workplace as if he was here for a friendly visit or lunch? As if he wasn’t the reason you were here in the first place. As if he hadn’t turned his back on you.
He didn’t need to come into your new space, looking fine in his jeans and tight tee, watching you with that smile of his that said “I’m here” as if to take on all your problems for you. There was no need for him to remind you of your feelings… the same feelings you had hoped you had smashed in the last month.
“Who’s this?” Yeosang stepped around you, clearly a bit annoyed that their space was being trespassed on by someone unfamiliar. “My old unit Chief. Who was just leaving.” You snarled out, crossing your arms over your chest. “You can just upload whatever you need to Yeosang, don’t pay him any mind.” Chan’s smile faltered, shoving his hands into his pocket. “I was worried about you tr- sorry, won’t say it again.” He chuckled nervously when you hardened your glare. “I know you weren’t happy about this-” “Who would be happy that they got kicked off their team? Seriously?” You took a step closer. “You didn’t want me there Chan, and I don’t want you here. So fucking leave.” Chan didn’t back down, lifting his chin a bit as he pursed his lips in thought. “Can I… Can I at least apologize?” You scoffed, rolling your eyes as you shook your head. “I don’t want to hear it. You made your choice Chan, just fucking live with it.”
When he called your name out in a plea, taking a step closer, you would have preferred “Trouble” instead. “Please let me explain, I didn’t want to hurt you.” He closed the distance enough to reach for you, just for you to slap his hand away. “I think she told you to leave.” Yeosang’s voice rang out behind you before you could tell Chan off yet again. “And frankly speaking, we don’t allow anyone else here in the Precinct unless you clear it with our Captain or Vice. I don’t think you did, so I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
Chan looked between you two, shoulder’s slumping in defeat. “Alright. I’ll talk to you another time.” Before you could make a quip back, he was walking out the door.
Your head pounded from the sudden increase in stress, hand going to your temple as you turned to Yeosang. “Was that true? The Vice or Captain needs to give permission for visitors?” Yeosang steeled his expression the moment you turned back, gently pushing your open laptop towards you. “Yes. Considering our work, we can’t just let anyone walk in. Especially other cops. Your pin?” It was comforting to hear, typing in your password quickly before pushing it back towards him. “That’s… reassuring. I didn’t think any of them would bother me here.” “Would… would you prefer they not?”
Shrugging, you leaned against the desk while he plugged in the flashdrive, dozens of screens popping up as Yeosang got to work. When you didn’t answer right away, he glanced at you. “Oh well, definitely not him. There’s one or two I don’t think I’d mind- wait no, that’s just a bad combination waiting to happen.” You grimaced, thinking about what would happen should Hyunjin come here or the two worrywarts. The conversation would get far too sexual or the poor beans would get too worried about you and most likely plan, very poorly, your kidnapping away from this unit.
Changbin could be the only one you saw getting along well enough but chances of him keeping quiet to the others? Unlikely.
Yeosang nodded as if you had just given him vital information, odd but somewhat endearing of him. “I see. I’ll let Seonghwa know.” His fingers flew across the keyboard, focused on whatever he was doing. “Can you… not? Or at least avoid the details. I don’t like how much you all know of me and my unit already. My beef with Chan I would like to keep on the downlow.” “What makes you think I would keep it as such?” Yeosang asked, lacking any sort of condescension or malice, just pure curiosity in his voice.
You shrugged, standing back up. “You didn’t like it when I dug into you all when I first got here, so privacy is important to you. And whether it’s personal morals or because you were told to play nice, I don’t think you are going to go around sharing my business.”
He paused what he was doing, turning to you confused. “You have reason to believe I would though?” “No, I don’t.” You sighed, leaning back down. “Just because you don’t like me or haven’t been the nicest doesn’t mean you would purposely exploit sensitive information about me. You can still have morals even as an asshole. Anyways, what are you doing? I can’t follow along with any of this.” Yeosang let his head fall forward a bit so his hair blocked his eyes from your sight, his fingers moving once more. “It’s a program I built that only we here at A.Z use. Takes a bit to install, connect to our servers here. I'm still working on the mobile version, but this has to be installed with a copy of the program. If anyone without access to the program tries to get in through one of you, the program will wipe itself clean and the connection.” “That’s… a bit scary of a protection measure.” You mumbled out, but also quite impressed. “These gangs have access to multimillion dollar security companies and tech, better not to risk them trying to get our information. We also have different levels of information. Right now, you are getting access to level one, which is a bit more detailed than what you already had on the Green Vipers. We’ll move you up if you gain a successful cover,” he explained, moving a few things around and code flashing across the screen. It took you a moment to realize what he meant, what this all meant. “Is this… I thought I still had a trial run?” Your voice was soft, afraid to speak any louder as if it would scare off the possibility.
Yeosang paused once more, hunching further over the computer. “Well uh, I- that’s not for me to…”
“Welcome to the team, Firecracker. Believe it or not, we are happy to have you.” Hongjoong called out, drawing your attention to the hall, a smirk on his face. “He means on the team. Happy to have you on the team.” Seonghwa sighed behind him. “Well that too.” “Joong- is it really a good time to try and flirt?” “It’s always a good time. Especially now that she knows what we do around here- oh? Is it that funny?” Hongjoong broke off, brow lifted as laughter had bubbled out of you.
“It’s just- mmm, I think I’m a bit happy to be here. When ya’ll stop trying to act so damn friendly fake.” Hongjoong and Seonghwa shared a look before the Captain matched your very real smile. “I knew you liked the bickering. Ready for your first mission briefing?”
You practically bounced up straight. “Yes, Captain, ready.”

Wriothesley would like some clarity on your current relationship..
“Is there something that you want from me?”
The incredulous question resounds off the metallic walls and the mood seems more frigid. Which is a bit of a go figure considering the environment and the man standing before you. You freeze your actions and face his neutral position. Something you’re not used to seeing considering the playfulness the two of you usually share.
“Do you want to elaborate on that?” You return curiously. Wriothesley nods, and leans against his desk that you are both posed in front of.
“Sure, is there something that you want from me?” Your face turns flat and then into a grimace. “There he is again being a jackass again…”
The bag full of tasty treats and a assortment of food is placed on his desk as you place your hand on your hip and lean against it. Your finger thrums on the desk in mild irritation.
“Oh? So you’re friend can’t visit you and have lunch together? That simply breaks my heart Wrio!” You clasp your hands together in a display of coltish pity, and for once Wriothesley isn’t as playful back.
“I’m serious. Why do you keep coming down here to visit me? There isn’t very much I can offer you down here except for tea? Or is there favors that you wan’t from me? What is it?”
Oh. He’s serious. To be fair, most days he’s actually quite serious. But this is a turn from the usual playful banter that the two of you share. The question still hangs in the air uncomfortably, which makes you uncomfortable.
“This is awkward…” You begin to rifle through the bag that you brought with you.
“Anywho. So this time I brought down some sandwiches and bakery goods from the patisserie! And I even made a beef stew, because I know it get a bit chilly down here. We just need to hea-“
“(Y/N.)” Wriothesley says flatly. You turn to face him, face the uncomfortable reality of this situation. “Please tell me or I’ll have to ask you to leave.” The statement stings and you stare at each other for what seems to be a infinite face off. Wriothesley who usually has a poker face to many, and yet in this fragment of time. He’s showing the vulnerability that he is capable of.
He’s arms have folded to match yours; guarded.
He’s clenching his arm so tightly, it’s borderline concerning.
He really is serious right now. Not that he isn’t intimidating but in this moment the severity of the question really begins to hit you.
You turn back to the bag and begin to rifle through it again. Proceeding to take out it’s contents. Should be GN, but it is implied that Wriothesley is at least taller than you.
“I like you Wriothesley.” You hear a sharp intake from him, but continue on with what you’re saying. “You’ve been fairly open with your past, and I hope that I’ve done my best not to hold that against you and take you for what you are currently. Honestly, I think that you are pretty great.”
As the words spill out, you feel your nerves growing, and focus on the bag in front of you more.
“I hope that it doesn’t come off as pity, but I think you’re circumstances alone should grant you some comfort in this world. Despite everything you’ve been through you still look after people in your own way, and try to do right by them.”
You’re running out of materials to take out of the bag.
“Maybe I wont be able to fully understand what you’ve gone through and how you’re been taken advantage of. But you’re the type of person that I want to have in my life. I’m really happy that we’re friends. I don’t want anything else from you really besides your company.”
You find the stray sandwhich, and unravel it. With a heavy sigh you turn to face him, and feel the intensity of his gaze. Looking for any signs of deceit from you. You outstretch you’re arm and offer the deli treat to him.
“…I hope that we can stay friends if you like.” Once again the moment feels infinite before Wriothesley unfurls his arms and takes a step towards you. Closer.
He looms over you before leaning down to take a bite out of the sandwhich that you’re holding.
“…You know that almost sounded like a love confession.” He smugly responds with a sly smirk.
You squint your eyes and glare, a smirk gracing your face as well. “Well if you have time to be a smart ass, you can hold your own damn sandwhich!” The energy of the room lightens and he takes the food from you with a chuckle.
“Stay here I’ll go find Seigewinne, and then we can have lunch together!” You run off quickly and leave his grace with a thundering heart and flushed ear tips.
“…A love confession. That’d be nice as well.”

something short and fluffy about making lunches for sevika
enjoy gays! love, angel :)
men and minors dni
i like to think she moves you into her apartment pretty early on in the relationship. (uhaul lesbian sevika the loml)
she doesn't work normal hours, usually coming home in the early hours of the morning and leaving in the late afternoon, so when you get up every morning (after about half an hour of convincing sevika to let you leave the bed) you have your mornings to yourself.
the two of you don't have time to cook that often, but you make sure to keep the cupboards and fridge stocked with snacks and deli meats for easy eats.
about a week into living with sev, you start tucking snack packs and granola bars into her cloak's pockets and satchel before you leave for work.
one night she mentions it casually, thanking you with a gentle kiss to your head for the chips you had hidden in her bag. you decided to step it up a notch after that.
it starts with paper bag lunches. peanut butter sandwiches and a piece of fruit, wrapped in wax paper and signed with a heart from you.
when you have time in the mornings, you write her a little note, something quick and simple. 'love u baby,' or 'u + me = <3.' it gives you a laugh to imagine sevika finding the notes while shes at work, getting flustered in front of silco or ran, trying to crumble up the note before they can see it.
but a few weeks later you're in her office waiting for her to finish some paperwork, and you see the little notes you've been packing her taped up behind her desk in a neat little row. (you crawl under her desk to give her some sloppy head after this particular discovery.)
after this you decide to take your lunches to the next level. you carve out a good 20 minutes in your morning routine to dedicate to her lunches.
you start baking. nothing serious, just quick treats you can pop in the oven in the morning. cookies, brownies, muffins. you always pack her two, in case she decides to share-- but you doubt she shares.
you start cutting her sandwiches into hearts like a lovesick fool.
your notes get a little longer. quick lists of the things you'd like to do to her once she gets home, sometimes innocent, sometimes not. little love letters, haikus, doodles of the two of you holding hands.
you buy increasingly ridiculous snacks at the store for her, chips with wild flavors, crackers in the shapes of various animals, bright candies and air puffed vegetable sticks. you switch out the napkins and old receipts you'd been writing her notes on out for some heart shaped sticky notes.
eventually you bite the bullet and buy her an actual lunch tin. you try to find something subtle, something that matches her vibe, but the closest you can find is a purple tin with black polka dots decorating it. she scoffs at the sight of it, but takes it with her to work every day and brings it home each night, empty besides a few crumbs.
the intimidating image of her stomping down the street with her usual scowl is somewhat obscured with the addition of the little lunch pail swinging along in her grip, but not enough for anyone to say anything to her.
you ask her one night if it embarrasses her-- tell her you can go back to using the paper bags. she pouts.
"fuck no. i like my lunch box. you got it for me." she says simply.
sometimes, instead of a note you'll snap a dirty polaroid and throw it in her pail. your cleavage, your ass, a shot of the matching set you're wearing under your work uniform. each time you do, sevika comes home with a dark look in her eye and fucks you for hours on end.
"you're such a fuckin' tease. had to work five more hours knowing you were at home wearing these. nearly quit so i could come home and get my hands on you sooner."
when she's having a particularly rough week, you'll roll her a hefty joint and pack it alongside some extra snacks for munchies. these nights, she comes home and drags you to the couch to cuddle for hours. she burrows under your shirt, breathing in the scent of your skin and mumbling about her day as you rub her back.
one day you come home from work to see the purple lunch pail still sitting on the counter. it breaks your heart to think of sevika going without her food and note, so you scoop it up and march down to the last drop to hand deliver it to her.
at this point, the bouncers recognize you, they move aside to let you in with a nod. you navigate through the rowdy crowd looking for your girlfriend. eventually you spot her in a heated conversation with a few of silco's goons, pinching the bridge of her nose and snarling. the man beside her flinches every time she moves. you smile.
you let her finish her little lecture before approaching her. the second her eyes meet yours, her face melts. the tension in her shoulders falls, the stress in her face disappears into a soft little smile. when her eyes catch the lunch box in your hands, her eyes go big and round.
she scoops you up into her arms, clinging onto you, burying her face into your neck. "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me." she mumbles. you giggle, kissing her hair.
she drags you to her office, forcing you to sit on her lap, alternating feeding herself and you bites of the food you packed her.
"you make a good housewife." she mumbles around a mouthful of food. you laugh.
"gotta be a wife for that." you snort, elbowing her. you expect the usual laugh and smack on your ass you get when teasing sevika about marriage, but instead you're met with silence. you look up at her.
"would you wanna be?" she asks, so soft and quiet you would've missed it if you weren't looking at her. you blink.
"sevika." she looks at you, her eyes sparkling. "you are not about to propose to me in your office." you command. a guilty little smile creeps up her lips. you raise your eyebrows.
"no, i guess i'm not." she says. you giggle, nervous and giddy.
"no, you're not." you confirm. she pouts. "'cause if you want me to say yes, you at least gotta get me some flowers. and you gotta do it somewhere you haven't disemboweled someone before."
"doesn't leave very many options open for me." she grumbles. you laugh.
"you'll figure it out." you say. "or you'll just have to wait 'til i propose to you." you tease.
"fine." she huffs, shoving the remainder of her sandwich in her mouth. "just as long as you keep making me lunches."

your kiss - peter parker
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: tom!peter x f!reader
summary: peter, your best friend, also known as spiderman swings into your bedroom after a night of patrolling and finds you asleep on your desk. he tries his best to be quiet while tidying up your room, but things change - for the better ?
warnings: PURE FLUFF!!! use of y/n and she/her pronouns
゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚゚*☆*゚
peter parker has always been enthralled by y/n. ever since the first day of freshman year, since the two were biology lab partners. the two were quick to have a connection, and were soon best friends by the end of the first semester.
he was enticed by her. the way her hair bounced on her shoulders as she walked from classes. or the way her eyes lit up at the mention of her favorite book. he especially loved how her smile got slightly wider once he stepped in the room.
y/n was always on his mind. whether it be a reminder for him to ask how her day was, or because he simply couldn't stop thinking about the girl.
lately y/n and peter haven't been able to talk much, due to peter being busy being the friendly neighborhood spiderman, and y/n was tackling college applications as well as essays and exams.
every friday night, peter would stop by y/n's apartment she lived in with her parents. her parents absolutely adored peter when she brought him over to study for an upcoming economy test.
this friday was no different, as peter finally swung on his last web to get to the girl's window. he caught his breath as he took his mask off, while sliding open y/n's bedroom window.
his feet hit the carpeted floor of y/n's room, and he smiles softly once he sees y/n asleep. her head was resting on her folded arms, which were covering pages of her unfinished essay. her computer was open and on the dim screen was a half finished college application. peter chuckled quietly, as he closed the window, and threw his mask at the edge of her bed.
peter made his way towards y/n's desk and turned off the lamp. he closed her laptop, and tried his best to clean up the supplies the girl wasn't laying on. peter also couldn't help but notice she was wearing his midtown sweatshirt. he must've left it over one time, and now he was glad he did. he thought she looked adorable in it.
as peter was moving the books off the desk and towards y/n's bookshelf, y/n lifted her head from her arms, and rubbed the drool that was leaving her lips. she turned in her desk chair, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"pete? what are you doing here?" her voice was quiet, and hoarse considering she just woke up.
peter walks over towards her, "just doing my weekly check in. i see you're still busy with college stuff."
y/n only nods, and peter notices her shoulders tense at the mention of it.
"how were the streets of queens tonight?" y/n asks the superhero, as he sits on her bed and she starts to clean up her desk.
"they were alright," peter shrugged, "i caught a guy stealing from the deli. so i guess that's something."
y/n nodded intently, as he continued to tell her about his night. peter couldn't help but let his eyes trail over y/n's figure as she sat on top of her desk across from her bed.
y/n couldn't help but let her eyes go back and forth between his face and his body in his spider suit.
as y/n was not-so-discretly looking over peter's body, peter smirked. "why are you staring at me like that y/n?" he let out a breathy laugh, mostly out of nerves.
y/n's face instantly changed into a shade of red. "i wasn't staring," she lies.
out of no where, peter suddenly gains confidence. he isn't sure where it comes from, but before he knows how to stop, he's walking towards y/n. he simply stood in front of the girl, his hands were placed on both of her bare knees.
peter's voice is soft, scared if he spoke any louder he'd scare y/n off. "i don't know what it is about you y/n, but i've always been captived by you."
"captived?" y/n reiterates, surprised at the confession by the boy. her cheeks grow hotter as peter moves forward, now standing directly in between y/n's thighs. his hands don't leave her legs, while his thumbs rub comforting circles over her skin.
"why do you think i stop by here every week?" he honestly asks.
y/n shrugs, as her brain becomes foggy at the close proximity of the pair, "because you care about me?"
peter slightly chuckles, "well yeah i care about you. but it's mainly an excuse so i can see you."
y/n doesn't know how to respond, and is grateful once peter continues, "i've liked you since the first day of freshman year. i've always liked you y/n. even when you dated that douchebag jonathan, and came home crying almost every night because of him. i've liked you since sophomore formal, and i got enough courage to ask you to dance with me. i've liked you since i told you i was spiderman, basically trusting you with the biggest secret of my entire life. and i've liked you since you started applying to all these colleges. i've always liked you y/n."
y/n's silent, as she takes in all of peter's words. of course they all caught her by surprise. she's liked peter since the night of the sophomore formal. she remembers the night vividly. how she danced with peter, and got milkshakes with him afterwards.
peter's voice gets caught in his throat, creating a more raspiness to it as his leans closer towards y/n and whispers, "if you don't want me to kiss you, just say so."
only a moment passes before y/n's the one to lean forward, connecting her lips to peter's. her hands move to his shoulders, and peter kisses her with such force. he's been waiting to kiss the girl for four years, of course there's going to be force behind it.
"wow," y/n whispers as peter pulls away. her hands don't leave his shoulders, and only move to his neck to lightly play with the curls at the base of his neck.
peter looks down to his midtown sweatshirt y/n's wearing, "y'know, i could get used to you wearing my clothes."
y/n giggles, a hard blush forming on her cheeks. peter leans forward and kisses y/n's lips again, much quicker than before.
"how would you feel about being spiderman's girlfriend?" peter asks.
"it would be an honor," y/n giggles once again, before pulling peter in again and kissing his lips. that wasn't the only kiss shared for the rest of the night.

A Little Time Alone

It had been weeks since we spent any time together.
Between the new curriculum and latest batch of pilots, I was coming home late every night and leaving early every morning.
At first, she was doing her damnedest to stay up until I got home. Each night, before sliding into bed, I would slip her tablet from her clutches and remove her askew reading glasses, placing both on her nightstand. Once I settled into bed, unconsciously, she would snuggle into me, allowing me to fall asleep with a smile.
However, lately, it was clear she had been sleeping for hours. Tucked into bed, fast asleep with just her hair peeking between the bedding. I would slide into my side and do my best not to disturb her.
Each morning, I didn’t leave without giving her a goodbye kiss, but guilt always edged my decision to not wake her. Instead, I would press my lips to her forehead or cheek, whichever was exposed.
Things seemed to take a turn after her plan to surprise me with lunch on base was foiled. Normally, she would coordinate with Maverick, if he were around, or the security guard she had befriended to sneak into my office with sandwiches from our favorite deli.
Of course, she always wore a dress, which made it easy for me to bend her over my desk for a pleasurable finish.
We had a text code so I knew to expect her. The last time she plotted a lunchtime date, I, unbeknownst, stood her up. Unable to check my texts all morning, I never saw her message and never went to my office. It wasn’t until later in the evening I saw several messages and a couple missed calls.
I was devastated and wanted to apologize in person. However, she was always asleep when I got home. I even tried to call a few times during the day, but I never managed to catch her. After that, we exchanged fewer and fewer texts throughout each day.
Even our weekends had been spent separately. I found myself on base more and more for special events and training. Hell, the last couple weekends, I even slept there.
She, on the other hand, has been a godsend, representing us both at family get-togethers and other personal events.
I can only imagine how she felt, likely making up excuses for my lack of presence.
The whole situation made me absolutely miserable.
“Bradley. Bradley. Bradley!” My head jerked to find Maverick intensely staring at me.
“Yeah, Mav?” I coughed to clear my throat and gave him my full attention.
He and I were alone in his office. Maverick and I were co-instructors for an upcoming class. We were going over the lesson plan when my thoughts drifted. “What’s on your mind, Bradley?” Mav put down his pen, leaned back in his chair and looked at me.
Shifting in my chair, I noticed the tension in my shoulders and that I’d been holding my breath. Subtly untensing, I spoke. “I can’t remember the last time I spent time with my wife, and she’s getting distant.”
Maverick leaned forward. He loved her like a daughter. Actually, I was convinced he liked her more than me. Mav was always reminding me not to let work ruin our relationship.
Not that he had room to talk.
Although, he and Penny have appeared rock solid since getting back together. Once Maverick proposed and they wed, Penny was the happiest I’ve ever seen her.
“Bradley—”
I cut off Mav. “I know, I know. Don’t fuck it up.”
“Go home,” he said.
“What?” My eyebrow cocked.
“Go home. Report back on Monday,” Mav said. We stared at each other for almost a full minute. “Go fix it.” The tone in Mav’s voice told me he was about to make it an order, so I nodded, gave a quick salute and dashed out.
Not having been home at a decent hour in nearly a month, I forgot what traffic was like. It had me doubting if I would be home any earlier than as of late.
Her vehicle was in the driveway when I finally pulled up.
My feet were carrying me faster than my brain was processing. My mind was trying to get my hands under control so I could get the key in the door, when the door flung open.
A gasp left her lips as our gazes locked. “Hey, stranger.” She did her best to hide a smirk. Unfazed, I walked toward her, forcing her to back up and allow me into the house. Once far enough in, I closed the door.
“Hey,” I replied. My eyes raked across her form. She was wearing a short red sundress and some strappy sandals. My cock twitched. I could not recall the last time I saw her in anything other than our fluffy duvet.
“I should go—I don’t want to be late.” She walked toward me and got on her toes to kiss my cheek. However, I turned my head and captured her lips with mine. She hesitated for a second, but melted into me as I wrapped an arm around her waist and the other hugged her ribcage. Her hand slid from my bicep up to my neck.
We separated just enough to look into each other’s eyes. “I hate that I forgot what you feel like,” she said.
The comment made me hold her tighter. “We can’t have that,” I said as a matter of fact. Her eyebrow and lips quirked. I smiled at her. “I’ve been missing you more than you can imagine,” I confessed.
She was still looking at me with a tight smile. “I may have an idea.” She pursed her lips and looked off the side. Then, she looked back at me and pressed her lips to mine. As we kissed, I uncoiled an arm from around her, so I could reach back to lock the door.
She heard the click. “I have to go,” she said with her lips still against mine.
Again, we separated just enough to look at one another. “Cancel.” My voice was more demanding than either of us expected. She looked surprised but not offended. “We need a little time alone.” I sounded softer. “So tonight, I’m only gonna be your man,” I told her. She raised an eyebrow. “I’m off the entire weekend.”
“Bradley Alexander—” She was ready to scold me for messing with her.
“Scout’s honor.” I held my fingers up in the Eagle Scout sign. We stared at each other. “There’s no way I’m leaving this house, especially when you look this good.” My hand dropped lower to squeeze her backside. She dropped her head trying to hide the blush in her cheeks as if I’d never seen it before.
“Go shower,” she said. My grip on her loosened so she could step away. “I’m not spending the evening huffing jet fuel.” She looked my attire up and down. I left in such a rush, I still had my flight suit on.
Extra swagger in her hips, she sauntered to the kitchen. For a split second, I considered following her and bending her over the nearest surface. But tonight called for something slower, softer than a counter quickie.
Instead, I went to our ensuite bathroom and let the water pressure ease my muscles. Soothed by the water and steam, I lost track of time. When I realized, I hopped out, did a quick shave and dressed.
We were home, but she was wearing that sinful sundress, so I at least wanted to wear something I knew she’d love. I put on my favorite pair of worn jeans, a white tank and an Aloha shirt I knew was one of her favorites.
I padded downstairs, noticing the lights were low and she’d lit candles. A smile turned my lips when I heard Led Zeppelin IV spinning on the record player—I thought about the countless times we made out to this soundtrack.
When I rounded the corner into the kitchen, I stopped in my tracks. She was sitting on our small breakfast table, palm supporting her, head tilted back, wine glass to her lips. One leg ran the radius of the table while the other hung off at the knee. Her heel popping to the beat of the music.
She turned to look at me. “Wine?” She held out her glass. I shook my head as a coy smile pulled a corner of my mouth. She winked as she polished off the last sip in her glass.
As I approached the table, she shifted so she was facing me and placed the glass at her side. Stepping between her legs, I pushed the glass further back. A hand on either side of her, I leaned so we were at eye level.
Her hand cupped the side of my jaw, and her thumb ran along my lips. Mindlessly, I pressed a kiss to it. The tiniest smile curled the corners of her mouth as she searched my face. I hummed as her fingers traversed the raised skin of my scars and came to rest on the dip of my chest just below my clavicles. “Do you have any idea how handsome you are?” she asked.
Surely she felt my chest rumble as I chuckled. “Only when you tell me.” My voice was raspier than usual. Leaning further into her, I dropped my head to place soft kisses on her neck.
“Surely other women tell you.” I knew exactly what she was doing.
“I can assure you, they keep their thoughts to themselves,” I replied. Between kisses I told her about my latest class catching sight of her on base. It was the last time we had lunch together before our drought. A couple of them commented about a hot civilian. Turning, I found her chatting with Maverick.
I told them the easiest way to not return from a mission was ogling another pilot’s spouse. One of the women who had been doing her damnedest to flirt with me blurted, “That’s your wife?!” I nodded at her with a wink. She paled and never looked me in the eye again.
The earned laugh that quickly morphed into a moan had me considering unzipping my pants and unceremoniously fucking her. But I had to pace myself. She was flat against the table, my body covering her with my forearms holding me up as I kissed whatever exposed skin was available. The raggedness of her breathing kept me going.
“Do you know how hard it is for me not to wake you up every night at some ungodly hour?” I told her, picking my head up to see her response.
Her bottom lip was between her teeth as her eyes twinkled in the low light. “Why wouldn’t you wake me up?” she asked. Her thighs were squeezing my hips, the skirt of her dress covering almost nothing.
“First, you sleep through absolutely everything.” She chuckled as my hands skimmed her bare thighs. “We could be having a magnitude 10 earthquake, and you’d sleep through it.” She nodded in agreement as one of my hands slid between us.
I froze. “Where are your underwear?” She never went commando without a purpose.
She propped herself up on her elbows. “Maybe I was hoping you would be home, in bed, when I returned. And I could wake you up.” She paused. “If you came home.” Her gaze was intense.
My smile faltered and my head dropped with my shoulders in a moment of guilt. Quickly, I looked back up at her. “I’m sorry.” Still gripping her thigh, my thumb drew circles on it.
“Show me,” she said.
“Excuse me?” I had expected her to scold me or for us to get into a deep conversation about the past month.
She moved my hand from her thigh to between her legs. “Actions speak louder than words.” Expertly, she maneuvered my hand to guide two fingers into her. “Show me how sorry you are. How much you’ve missed me.”
For a minute, I froze. Tired of waiting for me, she wrapped her hand around my wrist to slide my fingers in and out of her. Finally, I got a hold of myself, my thumb pressing to her swollen bundle of nerves and the pads of my fingers stimulating that spongy spot inside. Her breath caught as I took over.
“That’s it, honey.” She melted against the table. “Let’s take it nice and slow.” She clenched around my fingers—I thought I might come right then. “Fuck,” I said under my breath. She smiled as she watched me squeeze my eyes shut.
Back on her elbows, her fingers snuck into my hair and pulled me until our lips connected. My lips parted just enough to allow her tongue in. It toyed with mine, matching the rhythm of my fingers pumping in and out of her. Her lips left mine with a smack. “Bradley,” she moaned as I alternated between scissoring my fingers and curling them against her G spot.
“That’s it,” I cooed, keeping the same pace and pattern. I could feel her tightening around my fingers. “Fuck,” I breathed out, enjoying the feel of her. My lips fell to her neck, knowing the additional contact would send her over the edge.
The stutter breath she let out matched her contractions around my fingers. “That’s it, honey.” I watched her face as she went through her high, my fingers keeping pace. As she untensed, I slowed to a stop. She looked at me as she steadied her breathing and a smile appeared. She continued to watch as I cleaned her from my fingers. Immediately, she pulled me down to taste herself.
She hummed as we separated. “Go pick another album. I wanted to make out with you on the couch.” My cock jumped from just the words leaving her mouth. Standing to my full height, I helped her off the table.
She shooed me with her hands to the living room where my inherited record player was housed. I thumbed the sleeves until I found the perfect selection: The Velvet Underground’s Loaded.
As soon as the needle fell into the groove, she appeared with the bottle of wine. We both traipsed to the couch. She split the wine as I settled into the sofa. I accepted a glass and then beckoned her to sink into my side. Together, we sipped and listened to the opening song.
As the next began to play, she placed our empty glasses on the coffee table and straddled my lap. My hands came to rest on the tops of her thighs, pushing the fabric of her dress higher to expose more skin. She shimmied even closer to me, so she was at even more of a height advantage—my head was tipped almost completely back.
Her fingers sifted through my locks, her nails massaging my scalp. A deep breath I didn’t even realize I was holding escaped my parted lips. She smiled as she watched me relax. My eyes were practically in the back of my head, her massage turning my mind to mush.
She tugged my hair, which earned a moan and caused me to shift under her. She ground against me, the stiff seams of my jeans caressing her most sensitive spot. I let her roll my head to the side so she had better access to pepper kisses along my neck. She continued to grind against my denim-clad crotch. Boy, did I wish there were less fabric between us.
My fingers dug into her thighs as she sank her teeth into my neck. “Christ,” I said under my breath. She sat back and eyed me, proud of the reaction she got. Her thumb passed over the spot that would surely be purple later. “Maybe your students will have fewer questions come Monday.” Before I could say anything, she leaned in and sweetly pressed her lips to mine.
“You’re such a sour patch kid,” I teased. She smiled at the nickname while she nipped my lips and swirled her tongue against mine. At the same time, her hands were busy unfastening my jeans. She climbed off my lap, and I lifted my hips to help her rid me of my garments.
Climbing back into my lap, her knees bracketed my hips and the tops of her feet contoured the curve of my thighs. Her core rested against my length. I wanted nothing more than to guide myself into her.
“It’s really unfair you look this good in such a silly print.” Her fingers followed the shoulder seams of my shirt to the collar. Using the points, she pulled me back in for a kiss. As we separated, her hands dipped under my collar and over my shoulders to help shed the cloth.
Once that was off, she took advantage of a tiny hole I hadn't noticed in my tank. Penetrating it with her finger, she pulled and the fabric easily gave way. I watched as the hole grew and she fisted the fabric to snap it at the hems. She untangled me from the ruined garment and dropped it to the floor.
My arms snaked around her waist, pulling her closer and hands palming her backside through her dress. Her hips lifted, and with one hand, she guided me into her. Slowly, she returned to her resting position. A sigh left my mouth as I felt her adjusting to me.
“Honey,” I trailed off as she squeezed me a couple times. We kept eye contact as she began to slowly lift and lower herself. The pace quickened just a bit as she fell into rhythm with the music.
As she kept going, my hands slipped under her dress and began to pull it up until it was over her head. Once it was off, my mouth immediately found one of her nipples. The moan that left her lips was euphoric.
It made me bite her harder. She let out something between a moan and cry as her nails sank into my shoulders. I hissed, enjoying the burn as she scored my skin.
She was frustrated, and I wanted every bit of that energy.
Not wanting to miss any of it, I coiled an arm back around her waist and easily flipped us so she was laying on the couch parallel with the cushions.
Her doe eyes stared up at me, filled with surprise. My quirked lip grew to a smirk, as I anchored a hand on the cushion beside her head and the other on the couch back. My hips began to rock, setting a new pace for us. The lust came back to her gaze as her soft thighs met my hips and her heels found purchase in the dimples of my ass.
I held it together as her nails gently ran from the top of my cock to just under my pecs and back. Her touch was soft but firm enough not to tickle. I flexed a little extra.
Watching her breasts bounce with each thrust was enamoring. Her breathy gasps each time I bottomed out were the only noise I was hearing. My eyes sank as she stopped touching me and started touching herself.
My pace stayed the same, but my gaze was trapped where we connected. I slid in and out while her digits swirled along her swollen nerves. My hips stuttered from the added pleasure as her index and forefingers made a V around the base of cock. “Fuck me,” I whined.
She smiled. “No, you’re fucking me,” she corrected. We laughed together.
“I missed this so, so much,” I confessed. Wanting to be closer to her, I sank to my elbows. I tucked my palm behind her head, letting my fingers sift through her hair. Her eyes were hooded as she looked at me through her lashes.
We locked gazes as she took a deep breath and moved her hands to my waist, her nails sinking into the flesh just above my hips. At the same time, I felt her entire lower half contract, thighs hugging me and core convulsing.
“Bradley.” My name was long and drawn out as it left her lips. It was enough to make me spill into her. I breathed her name into the crook of her neck as I curled my arm under her head, my elbow became her head rest, to hug her whole body as close as possible. Her hand ran up my side and hooked around my shoulder.
I followed her name with a pleasurable hiss as her teeth sank into the meat of my shoulder. She punctuated the action with a tender kiss. The first of several she trailed into the crook of my neck as we rode out our orgasms.
Just as we came down from our high, the record ended. “Perfect timing.” I pressed a kiss to her forehead before pulling out and heading to the record player. She whined, but turned to enjoy the view as I walked away. Patiently, she waited as I flipped the vinyl and put it back on the player. I lined up the needle perfectly, and immediately the opening notes seeped out of the speakers.
By the time I was headed back to the couch, she was standing beside it. “Should we change the dress code in the house to birthday suits only?” I pressed my body to hers, enjoying the full frontal contact and handful of her ass I grabbed. She squeaked and arched her back. My lips covered hers to distract from her attempt to escape. “I’m sorry,” I mumbled into her lips.
We parted just far enough to look one another in the eyes. Her expression was playful. “Apology accepted.” I squeezed her around her ribcage and stuck my face in the crook of her neck. Although we were stark naked, our hug was earnest.
As we separated, she held my biceps, keeping us close. “Let’s go upstairs so you can keep doing what you’re doing to me all night long.”
“You don’t have to tell me twice.” Together, we blew out all the candles, and then walked upstairs hand-in-hand.

💌
hi childreennn mother had to jot this down while my brain was still going from earlier plz enjoy more supervisor!simon
Wednesday strolled in with ease. You and Simon avoided each other all day on tuesday. You knew you were really pissed when you thought of sending an anonymous complaint to HR.
It was lunchtime and you sat at your desk headphones in watching your comfort tv show and eating your lunch.  Simon walked out of his with a thick stack of papers. He walked up to your desk, dropped the papers harshly, “Get these done when you’re finished.” he demanded. You looked up with a mouthful of food, “I’m on my break.” you snap back at him. “There’ll be no break after this ever, if these aren’t half finished by the end of the day.” he barked back only to earn looks from the others (we live in a sassy man apocalypse I fear😣.) You roll your eyes, “And if I see your headphones again, that’s another strike.” he finishes.
It all seemed like too much to behave this way for an office job. You were ready to flip your desk, kick a monitor and slap him in the back of the head. All of the sudden he just became this douche. Not once have you ever given him any problems, have you ever screwed up.
A part of you wanted to ask him what the problem was, so you threw your plate away and went to the bathroom and facetime your best friend.
“Please tell me you sent in a complaint.” Your bestie sighed over the phone. “No I'm scared, online it said your identity might have to be revealed.” You said as you watched your bestfriends face screw up, “Just put in your two weeks, we’re hiring over here,” she suggested , “I’ll see if I can get you a spot, my manager’s really cool.” She gives you a smile. You look at the time and see you have 5 minutes left to chat before you have to get back to work. “I gotta go, but let me know what your manager says.” you bite your cheek, “will do !” she says before hanging up. You let out an exasperated sigh and go back to your desk.
-
On Thursday you worked the front alone, you were kind of glad because you were out of Simon's sight and you didn’t have to see the problem look so damn good in slacks. You sat and answered calls while listening to some music. It was a pretty peaceful day, not too many people came in so you kind of just sat and waited, you did some crossword puzzles, played some games on your computer, ignoring the get back to work email from Simon. It was lunch time when you and Simon interacted for the first time in a couple of days. You were getting ready to walk to the grocery store in the plaza you worked at (do they have these outside of America? Like shopping malls, or like strip malls?? Plz let me know.).
“Heading out?” he asked, leaning against the wall near the exit. You rolled your eyes, praying he didn’t notice. “I got to go to the market also, maybe I can keep you company?” he offered.
“I don’t care.” you mumbled, obviously very bothered by his presence. You grabbed your bag, and headed towards the door, Simon following behind you closely. “What’re you gonna buy?” he asked, “food.” he let out a sigh, “food’s always good.” he said, swinging his arms back and forth.
Simon felt like a kid who disappointed his mother, he doesn’t know what he did, but it was something that made her angry. In this case, he knew you were angry but you couldn’t still be angry from Monday's quarrel.
-
When you entered the market you made sure to separate yourself from Simon, you head to the little deli in the back, and got a turkey sandwich (I love turkey sandwiches if anyone cares.)
Somehow Simon ended up finding you, you two stood next to each other silently watching the elder man thinly slice the meat and place it on the bun. “Looks delicious.” he says, and you say nothing. You prance around the store finding some snacks for your desk, picking up a snickers bar for Linda cause those are her favorites. Simon followed you around like a lost puppy , paying for his stuff after you. You walked out before him and sat at the exact table you sat at when he decided he wanted to be a dick for the first time.
Simon walked out of the store and found you sitting alone, eating alone, watching people walk around the shopping mall. “Lost ya.” he smiled, his one dimple showing. You looked at him with a blank face. Simon pursed his lips and sat and ate his lunch quickly.
“Saw you looking for jobs online.” he broke the silence. “Yup.” you hum, “You’re thinking of quitting?” Simon inquired. “I’m looking at jobs so?” you drawled out earning wide eyes from simon. “You know I can fire you for that.” he takes a sip from his water bottle, “you’d fire a wild bear for shitting in the woods if it worked for you.” You scoffed, in return Simon let out a cackle, and you almost smiled at his natural laugh. “I think I've found a job though. So I'll be out of your hair in no time” Simon smile drops, “who said I wanted you out of my hair?” his brows furrow.
You smack your lips together, “let’s not be obtuse.” you sigh.
“You want to quit because of me?” he asked, “If I say yeah, are you gonna speed up the process?” you ribbed. “You really want to quit because of me?” Simon was in disbelief, he seriously couldn’t believe it. Was he too harsh? But that’s how you two were, you’d taunt each other. At least that’s what he thought. “I’m going back.” you say while getting up and throwing your trash.
Simon sat by himself, “let’s not be obtuse.” kept replaying and replaying. Was it the headphone thing, it was just some dumb gag he did for fun. You even joked about it one time, you said you’d shove an air-pod up his nose. Was it the emails? Simon likes your attention, whether it be good or bad. He likes you, the way you look in your work outfits, he’s a grown man, he can appreciate when someone is good looking. Now he was really starting to tweak out.
Simon practically sprinted back to the office, you sat at one of the front desks, you looked up at him in the doorway. “Are you really quitting?” your eyes widen, “Simon hush!” you sputtered.
“Was it something I did,” he asks as he walks towards the desk, “Answer me truthfully.” he demands. “Oh jesus.” you put your head in your hands out of embarrassment. Simon's eyes are on you, you can feel them while you try and bury your head deeper into your palms. “I know you were pissed on monday-” he continues, “Simon leave it alone for fucks sake.” huffing you finally look at him. He nods and walks back into his office, shutting the door avoiding work all day, with you on his mind how could he not?
-
It’s Friday, you’re scheduled to be back at your desk. You walk into the office earlier as always, listening to your music, you notice Simon was sitting on your desk. Confused, you approach him and tap him on his shoulder, “Your ass is on my desk.” Simon hops off quickly, “Sorry.” you eye him suspiciously.
“I want to talk to you about yesterday.” you groan, “Simon leave it please. That’s all I ask.” you make praying hands pleading, “yesterday you said-”
“UGH Simon please.” you groan even louder than earlier, “you said “If you say yes would I make the process faster” so I am the reason you’re quitting?” you look at him with the most confused face ever. “Are you okay? Genuinely?”
“Are you quitting because of me?” Simon prodded, “I have to heat up my breakfast.” Soon as you went to walk to the break room, Simon grabbed your wrist softly, his brown eyes looking into yours,
“Answer me, is it my fault?”
(well, yes!)

I can't believe that this 1906 stately home in Monticello, Arkansas is $488K. I would buy it so fast, b/c it's FULL of whimsy and fun. Look at the roof and architecture blending Queen Anne, Neoclassical, and Gothic elements. It has 4bds & 3ba.
Tumblr media
This home has been featured on 5 TV shows and was the setting for a 2016 feature film. Several books have chapters featuring the house; it is the model for the house in the 1966 novel The Scent of Lilacs; and it is the sole subject of a bestselling nonfiction book published in 2012. Books and memorabilia are on display in the entry hall.

In the main sitting room off the hall, carousel horses prance, while fancy hot air balloons float above.

There's a family room with stick walls and whimsical decor off the kitchen.

The kitchen also has stick walls and is painted in deep purple and gray. Look at the antique original sink in the corner.

This upper level hall has a balcony and the room looks just like the center hall of a southern dog trot house with shiplap walls.

This is amazing- there's a little deli in the hall.

Thank God it's almost time to go, you thought to yourself as you began to get ready to leave work on Monday afternoon. Wish they'd hurry up and replace Roxy and Tabitha soon.
You had been one of three admin assistants until two months ago when Roxy, the junior admin who had told you about Sugar and Spice, had moved across the country for a job that would actually utilize her college degree, and Tabitha, a glorified intern with no administrative skills who you suspected had only been hired because one or more of the partners had thought she was hot, had gotten fired for showing up to work still wasted after a night of partying. Now you were on your own and doing the work of three people with no relief in sight.
From the moment you arrived at the office at 8 AM that morning until right then when it was time to leave you had been going non-stop. You had fielded phone calls, made appointments, arranged travel, greeted clients, fetched water and coffee, filed for permits, picked up lunch for all three partners from three different restaurants, ordered flowers for your actual boss's girlfriend's birthday, made copies, and printed and mailed invoices -- all with a smile on your face and without a word of thanks from anyone.
Needless to say, you were looking forward to a drink and a nice, pleasant dinner that you didn't have to prepare yourself and could actually sit down and eat rather than have to quickly inhale like you had had to do with the sandwich you had procured from the deli down the street for lunch.
At 5 PM on the dot you shut down your computer and unlocked your desk drawer to grab your purse.
You went to the bathroom to freshen up before poking your head into your boss's office. “Hi, Mr. DiStefano, I just wanted to let you know that I'm leaving for the day.”
“Okay,” Mr. DiStefano replied without looking up from the floor plans he was studying.
You waited for a moment to see if he was going to say ‘thank you, have a great evening ’ -- or anything else for that matter -- but he didn't. “Okay then, see you tomorrow.”
You stopped by the other two partners’ offices to let them know that you were leaving, receiving very much the same non-response from both.
You sighed as you left your office and headed towards Nelson, Murdock, and Page. You were feeling extremely unappreciated and underpaid, especially since you were now having to fill the admin assistant role for all 3 partners at once. Maybe it's time to start looking for another job…
You shook your head. You weren't going to even think about trying to find another job until after you got your mother's medical debt paid off. One thing at a time.

“--Yo, Matty, we hitting up Josie's tonight?”
Matt looked up and shook his head as Foggy stopped by his office. “Actually, I can't. I have plans after work.”
Foggy gasped. “Do you have a date ?”
He poked his head out of Matt's office. “ HEY KAREN, MATT HAS A DATE TONIGHT! ” he yelled down the hall.
Matt sighed. Here we go. He was glad that you and he had already come up with a cover story on how you had met so he wouldn't have to think of one on the spot.
“So, what's her name and how'd you meet her?” Foggy asked.
Matt said your name. “We met at The Brew Towers on Saturday.”
“Ooh, coffee shop meet-cute,” Karen gently teased as she joined him and Foggy in his office. “How romantic.”
“Yeah, tell us more,” Foggy added. “Did you spill your coffee on her? Accidentally grab each other's order? Brush hands across the condiment station?”
Matt chuckled. “Actually, we struck up a conversation while we both were waiting in line to order and since it was busy and tables were scarce we decided to sit together. We hit it off, so I asked her to have dinner with me tonight.”
“So where are you taking her?”
“Okinawa.”
Foggy huffed out a laugh. “Ooh, fancy.”
Matt shrugged. “It was close to the office.”
“What time are you meeting her there?” Karen asked.
Matt shook his head. “Actually, she's meeting me here in about 10 minutes and we're going to walk over together.”
“Well, I'm really happy for you and I hope everything works out with her.”
“Yeah, same,” Foggy added. “It's good to see you putting yourself out there again, buddy.”
Matt inwardly cringed. After everything he, Foggy, and Karen had been through he hated lying to them, especially when they seemed so genuinely happy for him. “Thanks.”
“Guess it's just us at Josie's then, Kare. Let's go before she gets here -- I’m sure Matt doesn't want to scare her away by introducing her to us too soon.” Foggy rapped his knuckles on Matt's desk. “I expect a full report on your date tomorrow morning, Matthew.”
Matt chuckled with a nod. “Will do. ‘Night, guys.”
He waited until Foggy and Karen had left before pulling up his and your contract and printing copies in both standard and Braille print.
A few minutes later he heard your footsteps approaching the office, so he walked out into the lobby to greet you.
“Hi, Matt,” you said as you entered.
“Hi,” Matt replied. “How are you?”
“I'm good, and you?”
“I'm good too, thanks.” Matt gestured towards his office. “Let's go to my office.”
He led you down the hall to his private office. “Have a seat. Would you like something to drink? We have water, soda, tea, juice…”
“No, I'm okay,” you said as you sat. “Thank you though.”
Matt sat across from you. “Alright…”
He picked up the print copy of your contract and handed it to you. “Here’s the contract. I'll read through it, just let me know if you have any questions.”
“Okay.”
Matt cleared his throat and began to read. “Memorandum of Agreement. This memorandum of Agreement is made by and between Matthew M. Murdock and…”
He could hear your quiet, steady breathing as you followed along. He had tried to make the contract as simple and straightforward as possible in order to protect both himself and you.
“...Shall provide the following obligations,”  he continued. “Accompany Matthew to lunch and/or dinner at minimum twice weekly. Accompany Matthew to business-related events as requested with minimum 72 hours prior notice. Accompany Matthew to non-business events as requested, dependent on availability.”
“Wait, what does that last part mean?” you asked.
“Just that every once in a while I might ask you to do something with me that doesn't involve a sit-down meal,” Matt replied. “But also that I'm not going to make you drop everything just to have a cup of coffee or take a walk with me.”
“Oh, okay, that's fair.” You paused. “Sorry, go ahead.”
Matt nodded. “In exchange, Matthew shall provide the following obligations: Monthly stipend of $1,500 --”
“Wait, wait,” you interrupted again. “We only agreed on a thousand a month.”
Matt shrugged. “Yeah, but I thought about it and decided that fifteen hundred was a more fair amount for your time.” Especially since you're using it to help your mother.
You sucked in a soft breath. “Oh.”
Matt could tell you were torn between arguing with him and just accepting the higher amount and waited until you decided which path to take.
Finally, you sighed. “Okay.”
“Okay. ‘Payment for all outings and events, including but not limited to meals, beverages, gratuities, tickets, souvenirs, and gifts. In the event of a professional obligation, arrangement and payment for appropriate garments for said obligation. Accompaniment to requested events with minimum 72 hours prior notice, dependent on availability.” Matt paused. “I figure it's only fair in case you have a work event or something else you'd need a plus-one for.”
You huffed out a mirthless laugh. “Even though I have to plan and set them up I never get invited to actually attend any of DiStefano, Williams, and Abbott’s events, but that's good in case I ever do.”
Matt's brow furrowed at your slightly bitter tone. He'd have to find out more about your job. “Anyway, ‘Confidentiality: Each party shall treat as strictly confidential the nature of said Agreement as a result of entering into or performing duties outlined in this Agreement’. ”
“Snitches get stitches,” you quipped. “Or in this case, sued.”
Matt chuckled. “Relation of the Parties: The relationship between both parties is that of a platonic nature and of partners in a business transaction. No other nature of relationship is obligatory herewith.”
He continued on with the rest of the contract -- termination of the agreement (that either he or you could terminate the contract for any reason at any time with 30 days prior notice), remedies on default (that if one or both of you failed to perform your duties or otherwise broke a clause in the contract, the contract as a whole would be rendered null and void) and finally, amendments (that the contract could be amended at any time with the express written agreement of both you and Matt.)
“Governance: This contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York,” Matt concluded. “Signed by both parties stated here within and effective as of date first written above.”
He tilted his head back up towards you. “Everything sound fair to you?”
You were silent for a moment. “Yeah. Yeah, I think it's fair.”
“Okay then.” Matt handed you a pen and the second printed copy of the contract. “Just so we both have signed print copies.”
“Okay, yeah, no problem.” You signed your name on both copies of the contract. “Am I signing the Braille one too then?”
Matt nodded and handed you the Braille copy, quickly feeling the text below where your signature would go. “Sign right above here.”
“Okay.” You quickly signed your name. “All done.”
Matt signed his name on all three copies of the contract and set both his Braille and print copies into his desk drawer before locking it, then he folded your copy and put it into an envelope. “Here you go. Now that business is settled, how about we celebrate our new arrangement with some dinner?”
He heard you tuck your copy of the contract into your purse. “That sounds wonderful,” you replied.
Matt stood. “Shall we, then?”
He retrieved his coat from the coat rack and took his cane out of the inside pocket, then you both headed back towards the lobby.
Matt turned the lights off and opened the door for you. “After you.”
You stepped outside. “Thank you.”
Matt followed you outside then locked the door behind the two of you. “This way.”
You headed down the sidewalk to what Matt hoped was the first of many get-togethers, a comfortable silence between you.
