CROWLEY SSR THOUGHTS
there is zero basis for this, but I can't get this thought of my head
Tumblr media
I don't know why I decided to draw it this way
#art#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#(these will be relevant in a moment)#this isn't going to happen. but WHAT IF.#anyway i didn't get him (damnit birdman come home) so i had to look up his story#and let me tell you friends my findings were SHOCKING#crowley canonically likes vegetables which means that the crowley is revaan theory = BUSTED#crowley is sailor venus = CONFIRMED#(i know 'whip of love' is a saying but that's where my mind always goes)#DISCLAIMER: this is (mostly) a joke please continue to hold whatever theories and headcanons you want#but look. c'mon. look over here at this whiteboard i've covered in red yarn.#revaan being a picky eater has come up multiple times and there is an entire whole bit about how much he hated jerky and refused to eat it#and now they've made a point of talking about how crowley will eat almost anything and loOoOoves wild game meat especially#it's SO stupid but i can't help but read way too much into it#(this is tumblr if you don't want to see incredibly stupid overanalysis of anime guys then why are you HERE)#and i gotta hold on to something because otherwise whenever malleus and crowley are onscreen together i just keep going 'same hair color...#unless this is like. some kind of deep cover thing.#lilia doesn't recognize him because he saw him eat a green bean once and revaan would NEVER#crowley's secret is safe for another day#(serious hat on: i do think they're probably connected in some way)#(but there's something deeper going on that we're just not clued into yet that will hopefully explain things)#man forget revaan what if crowley whips off his mask and it turns out he was meleanor this whole time#wait hold on meleanor loves jerky. one of the things that i think we should pay attention to, socially, about the disney v. desantis thing is that it is really highlighting the importance of remembering nuance.
in a purely neutral sense, if you engage in something problematic, that does not mean you are necessarily agreeing with what makes it problematic. and i am worried that we have become... so afraid of any form of nuance.
disney isn't my friend, they're a corporate monopoly that bastardized copyright laws for their own benefit, ruin the environment, and abuse their workers (... and many other things). this isn't a hypothetical for me - i grew up in florida. i also worked for the actual Walt Disney World; like, in the parks. i am keenly aware of the ways they hurt people, because they hurt me. i fully believe that part of the reason florida is so conservative is because it's been an "open secret" for years now that disney lobbies the government to keep minimum wage down, and i know they worked hard to keep the parks unmasked and open during the worst parts of Covid. they purposefully keep their employees in poverty. they are in part responsible for the way the floridian government works.
desantis is still, by a margin that is frankly daunting, way worse. the alternative here isn't just "republicans win", it's actual fascism.
in a case like this, where the alternative is to allow actual fascism into united states legislation - where, if desantis wins, there are huge and legal ramifications - it's tempting to minimize the harm disney is also doing, because... well, it's not fascism. but disney isn't the good guy, either, which means republicans are having a field day asking activists oh, so you think their treatment of their employees is okay?
we have been trained there is a right answer. you're right! you're in the good group, and you're winning at having an opinion.
except i have the Internet Prophecy that in 2-3 months, even left-wing people will be ripping apart activists for having "taken disney's side". aren't i an anti-capitalist? aren't i pro-union? aren't i one of the good ones? removed from context and nuance (that in this particular situation i am forced to side with disney, until an other option reveals itself), my act of being like "i hope they have goofy rip his throat out onstage, shaking his lifeless body like a dog toy" - how quickly does that seem like i actually do support disney?
and what about you! at home, reading this. are you experiencing the Thought Crime of... actually liking some of the things disney has made? your memories of days at the parks, or of good movies, or of your favorite show growing up. maybe you are also evil, if you ever enjoyed anything, ever, at all.
to some degree, the binary idealization/vilification of individual motive and meaning already exists in the desantis case. i have seen people saying not to go to the disney pride events because they're cash grabs (they are). i've seen people saying you have to go because they're a way to protest. there isn't a lot of internet understanding of nuance. instead it's just "good show of support" or "evil bootlicking."
this binary understanding is how you can become radicalized. when we fear nuance and disorder, we're allowing ourselves the safety of assuming that the world must exist in binary - good or bad, problematic or "not" problematic. and unfortunately, bigots want you to see the world in this binary ideal. they want you to get mad at me because "disney is taking a risk for our community but you won't sing their praises" and they want me to get mad at you for not respecting the legit personal trauma that disney forced me through.
in a grander scheme outside of disney: what happens is a horrific splintering within activist groups. we bicker with each other about minimal-harm minimal-impact ideologies, like which depiction of bisexuality is the most-true. we gratuitously analyze the personal lives of activists for any sign they might be "problematic". we get spooked because someone was in a dog collar at pride. we wring our hands about setting an empty shopping mall on fire. we tell each other what words we may identify ourselves by. we get fuckin steven universe disk horse when in reality it is a waste of our collective time.
the bigots want you to spend all your time focusing on how pristine and pretty you and your interests are. they want us at each other's throats instead of hand in hand. they want to say see? nothing is ever fucking good enough for these people.
and they want their followers to think in binary as well - a binary that's much easier to follow. see, in our spaces, we attack each other over "proper" behavior. but in bigoted groups? they attack outwards. they have someone they hate, and it is us. they hate you, specifically, and you are why they have problems - not the other people in their group. and that's a part of how they fucking keep winning.
some of the things that are beloved to you have a backbone in something terrible. the music industry is a wasteland. the publishing industry is a bastion of white supremacy. video games run off of unpaid labor and abuse.
the point of activism was always to bring to light that abuse and try to stop it from happening, not to condemn those who engage in the content that comes from those industries. "there is no ethical consumption under late capitalism" also applies to media. your childhood (and maybe current!) love of the little mermaid isn't something you should now flinch from, worried you'll be a "disney adult". wanting the music industry to change for the better does not require that you reject all popular music until that change occurs. you can acknowledge the harm something might cause - and celebrate the love that it has brought into your life.
we must detach an acknowledgment of nuance from a sense of shame and disgust. we must. punishing individual people for their harmless passions is not doing good work. encouraging more thoughtful, empathetic consumption does not mean people should feel ashamed of their basic human capacities and desires. it should never have even been about the individual when the corporation is so obviously the actual evil. this sense that we must live in shame and dread of our personal nuances - it just makes people bitter and hopeless. do you have any idea how scared i am to post this? to just acknowledge the idea of nuance? that i might like something nuanced, and engage in it joyfully? and, at the same time, that i'm brutally aware of the harm that they're doing?
"so what do i do?" ... well, often there isn't a right answer. i mean in this case, i hope mickey chops off ron's head and then does a little giggle. but truth be told, often our opinions on nuanced subjects will differ. you might be able to engage in things that i can't because the nuance doesn't sit right with me. i might think taylor swift is a great performer and a lot of fun, and you might be like "raquel, the jet fuel emissions". we are both correct; neither of us have any actual sway in this. and i think it's important to remember that - the actual scope of individual responsibility. like, i also love going to the parks. Thunder Mountain is so fun. you (just a person) are not responsible for the harm that Disney (the billion dollar corporation) caused me. i don't know. i think it's possible to both enjoy your memories and interrogate the current state of their employment policies.
there is no right way to interrogate or engage with nuance - i just hope you embrace it readily.

I have a soft spot in my heart for food/drink that's stereotyped as being disgusting to people from outside the country/culture where it's traditionally consumed. I've recently grown to really enjoy vegemite and kimchi despite being told that I'd probably hate it since I didn't grow up with it. Recently I realized that the best US example is probably root beer. Anyway, as much as it's good fun to sometimes be like "ew gross!!!" about something enjoyed by other people, a lot of these foods have really interesting histories, ingredients, and even medical uses. Whether you like them or not, these foods have stories to tell. What's a food in your country/culture that's stereotyped as "gross" by outsiders? Because I want to give it a try 📝👀

thought experiment for my fellow vegans and vegetarians: in the near future it is announced that scientists are now able to grow any kind of animal meat (fish and seafood included, yes, even human if ya nasty but this is a regular meat poll not a cannibalism poll so don't let that skew your choice) in labs. Lab Meat has been extensively and independently proven by your most trusted and verified sources to
have the exact flavour, texture, and nutritional profile of the real thing; it is for all intents and purposes biologically identical to "real" animal meat except it has not come from a dead animal
be completely 100% ethical from an animal welfare perspective; no real animals have experienced any harm or discomfort at any point in the manufacturing process
be completely on a par with your current chosen diet in terms of other ethical concerns (environmental impact, ethical working conditions for humans, etc etc). all ethical concerns you normally have around eating meat have been entirely accounted for & cleared by Lab Meat. yes, even that one. and that one. i know this is borderline impossible. it's a thought experiment, no whataboutism or "you forgot xyz", play along or move along. if you can think of it, Lab Meat is ethically in the clear for it.
the question is:
*reintroducing the standard range of meats eaten in your local area at a normative level for meat eaters in your culture, without any significant sweeping restrictions for health/religion/taste/etc reasons. for the sake of this poll, "omnivorous" does not have to include eggs/dairy/other non-meat animal products if you are vegan and would still choose to avoid these things for any reason. this is entirely about whether you eat The Lab Meat
**this could be in terms of quantity or in terms of eating a broader range of meats, trying "exotic" meats, etc.
***this is NOT show results. please do not answer this poll if you are not vegetarian or vegan. pescatarians or others who limit meat consumption for primarily ethical reasons can join in if you really want. but meat eaters are a majority on here and it's just not as fun if the poll is like 50+% show results, i prommy you can wait for the results if you're really curious x

don’t you hate it when your civilization flees deep underground to escape the wither only to find yourselves trapped down there with something even worse. anyway surprise! i can still draw
#my art#minecraft#minecraft fanart#minecraft ancient cities#they named it the warden because they were its prisoners i will die on this hill#see fellas when i said i was brainrotting about ancient cities i meant like advanced stages of decay#Bad Syndrome: instead of a brain there is sculk#i'm still pondering additional designs for like guards/soldiers and redstone specialists etc#also yeah i was like ok time to design generic ancient city residents for outfit concepts#and bc i'm me they immediately became Characters and now it's a whole thing#their names are echo and felix and they hate each other <3#echo was actually a temple kid like felix growing up but he fled to the outer city due to irreconcilable differences w the sculk worshippers#felix keeps trying to convince him to come back bc he was one of their most talented alchemists#they don't quite have echo's talent for magic but they make up for it in charisma and violent tendencies#neither of which have yet proved effective in convincing echo to come work for them#these days he mostly dedicates his potion skills to making life a bit more bearable for outer city residents#he got the nickname 'echo' due to his knack for inducing realistic auditory hallucinations of dead loved ones#...i TOLD you it turned into a whole thing#i also have a pet theory that ancient cities invented skeleton horses bc they needed horses but also leather and meat#but that's mostly bc i think the phrase 'have your horse and eat it too' is rly funny

I need more info in the freakvamp au. like. does akito have organs? if not, does that include a brain?if n brain, how think? if have, why? if no blood, there's no way to get water around his body? no blood vessels? so uselessly existent organs??????? HELP
Tumblr media
HAHSGS SORRY OP I THOUGHT IT FITS HIS CURIOSITY
but to answer ur question, kinda! he only have those that's beneficial to his daily activity, like his digestive and respiratory system. for example he doesn't have a heart to pump blood because he has no blood to begin with.
the way it works is that akito only digest meat (carnivore moment) and the nutrients from said meat (extracted thanks to the help of his special digestive system) helps his internal organs work just like normal, even better if the meat is fresh + has blood on them. more nutrients means an even stronger body
and for the brains and other parts of the organs, it's really just.. pure meat slob no bones whatsoever (this might make people believe he's weak in general because of no skeletal structure underneath him but his muscle power are way beyond comprehension to balance it out) (he's still an anomaly afterall, he can't be easy to kill)
i didn't actually plan for this au to become a real big thing in this account so i haven't done much research BUT! here's what i think about it so far :3c

Hot take about the horror genre, I wish we used werewolves as a metaphor for female rage, something that is hidden and repressed in order to be perceived as acceptable until it destroys you and everyone around you, until the blood dripping from your fangs and claws are yours and theirs, bound together. Especially when placed in a story where men act on their aggression, their anger.

stupid dungeon meshi au where laios is an unexplainable eldritch monster thing that constantly eats anything he can get his hands on. everyone in the party treats him like a slightly disorderly raccoon. everyone outside the party gets a fastpass to heaven from just seeing him.

saw a post the other day, can't remember if it was tumblr or reddit, but it was like 'picky eaters are always characterized as only eating fries and chicken nuggets. what about us picky eaters who only like things like sushi and tiramisu, we exist'
anyway that's human dream

as we enter the start of a semester and the dreaded Hour of Making Friends us upon us... if ur ever at a loss for what to say in one of those weird social situations where you only vaguely-know people, one of my favorite questions to ask is "what is your favorite food crime." a food crime is like the food combination that you love that other people find revolting. press them to take it further than pineapple on pizza, that's rote. food crimes is a good topic that has many benefits as it turns out all people are degenerates and also it will give you some cool ideas to try out later in the privacy of your own degenerate kitchen
the other good thing to ask is "okay but has anyone here ever been someplace haunted" bc it turns out if you ask most people directly they don't believe in ghosts, but many people are like "oh yeah i lived in a haunted house. ghosts aren't real tho"
#my food crime is that i regularly make a “pasta and tuna” situation that has somehow gotten even more evil and degenerate over time.#it is a ''white wine reduction'' (it's just white wine and garlic powder & seasoning)#and tuna from a can.#and plain pasta.#if i have the spoons i will actually chop garlic for it but this tends to be my comfort food for a REALLY bad day#bc its super easy to make:#boil pasta. drain. put into bowl for later. into same pot u used for pasta.#put tuna (with oil/water from can). let fry a little for like 2-3 min. put in whatever amount of wine. season to taste.#the tuna will get a little crisp on it which is nice. important side note:#this began as a Bolognese sauce.#and one day i had to sub for tuna. i know. not ideal. i cried about it too.#somehow over time it is now its own little evil thing. i would never make someone else eat it. it is beautiful.#but yeah i don't even stir the pasta in afterwards i just slap pasta into serving bowl#slap this ''''''sauce'''''''' on top#molto bene#(i really can cook fairly well btw. this is a food crime. not a suggestion of skill or ability)#(i LOVE baking but when i cook for myself. the autism is obvious. bc i just don't understand the point of most of the steps)#(.... i can just eat the deli meat out of the bag. it is protein. i don't even have to like it. i just have to eat enough calories.)#(also i used to cook MUCH more before this apartment which is so small that i can stretch my arms out and overreach the counter length.)#(.... i'm 5.2. so.)
