Since we’ve wrapped up Part 5… let’s introduce her now. (Hair idea on left, base on right)

Paulla Izza {P. Izza, pizza} (real name is Billie Jean Ojiro) is a young lass from Morioh, but moved to Italy following the death of her big sister’s friend, joining Passione very quickly to keep her protected. Very shortly after the initiation test, she was placed in La Squadra di Esecuzione due to her rumored violent streak, and has been there ever since. Presenting herself as friendly and quirky, she’s actually emotionless, having grown *very* numb to, well, anything after witnessing the death of Kira (said friend), the lingchi of Sorbet and Gelato’s suicide, and before those, the poorly timed deaths of “friends” in the past. Even though she consistently pops up during the guys’ fights, she doesn’t really do anything that isn’t playing on her GBA. She’s also the one-on, one-off ex-girlfriend of Doppio.

Her empty soul leads her to develop a list of things to do that she’ll be satisfied with. The first is to kill Leone, whom she can’t stand, to elevate the Hitman team’s status, and to finally claim Doppio once again. She becomes rather violent and childish in Leone’s presence, kicking him in the crotch repeatedly during their first encounter (Man in the Mirror arc) because he didn’t answer a question. Denies ever having loved the little guy, insisting that “the kid is not my lover” even though anyone with half a brain will tell you otherwise. While her title is considered caporegime, it remains ambiguous if it’s actually true, since she often makes Nero do her work for her.

Her Stand is Smooth Criminal (or Smooth Harlequin). Takes the shape of a black and white cat named “Arles Zorro”, it morphs into a woman in bondage fused onto a spider tank (like from *Gyō*) with jarringly organic “feet”. The “feet” pop up on her hands once she claps them together, turning into gauntlets imbued with a sense of despair. It becomes bigger, and just better to use if the target has experienced more despair in their life. Blows provided from the gauntlets produce extremely clean hits, not even the color or blood shows up, just the body buckling from it.

She uses the cat to scout ahead, since it’s easy to put it in vantage points, and has stalked the Bucci Gang with her. She can also sense the despair in others, represented by a “heavy feeling” radiating off them. Overuse will give her a headache and nosebleed, as shown when she quickly leaves the train to speak with Melone after reading and regretting Proscuitto’s despair as he dies.

the idea of doppio joining team bucci is so stupid (and ableist) my god. the only way it works is if he was to infiltrate them which would be funny but all these aus where doppio is a good boi in the gang are so fucking dumb like you do realise he was jumping at the opportunity to kill bruno right? not because his boss told him to he just really wanted to.

With the Bucci Gang

► Alright, we're gonna start with Hiraeth since she's the only one they know.

► Her first meeting with the gang outside Passione is just like any other, pretty uneventful. But that's because they're in the middle of a mission and it just so happens that they needed a place to stay in for a night and ended at the hotel where she works at.

► Hiraeth, as usual, recognized them immediately thanks to Bucciarati being the popular one in the group. In fact, it was him that she got along with first when they checked in.

► The others followed when Mista requested her to be the one to serve them everytime they come back so he could hit on her in which Hiraeth just laughed off knowing exactly that the gunslinger is literally just old enough to be her son(She's 29)

► That's the reason why Mista almost choked to his death that night when she revealed her age^

► They got to keep in touch with her after that night thanks to Bucciarati so she'd sometimes be invited to come over on special occasions but most of the time it's just either Trish, Fugo, and Abbachio going shopping or Narancia wanting to go to the arcade and eat ice cream but everyone's too busy to go out with him.

► First time Bucciarati heard about it^ he almost gave her his whole wallet in exchange for the trouble of having to babysit the 17 y/o boy and Narancia got scolded lmao

► He and the other two torture dance boys may or may not also spam her with messages everytime they're in *real* trouble and telling Bucciarati about it is not in the options anymore (Abbachio in the bg telling them to stop dragging her into it while Giorno and Trish watches concerned in the corner lol)

► Long story short, she officially became that chill auntie that everyone trusts with their secrets.

With La Squadra

► Now we're getting real ;)

► Hiraeth has a whole ass history with these guys so she doesn't really need to hide her identity with them.

► It all started in highschool with her being in the same class as Risotto and years later they bump into each other again but this time, it's inside the mafia, which they both find quite ironic since they're both the well-behaved kids back then.

► Because of this, it wasn't that hard for Hiraeth to get into Passione and it's also why Oneira exists. Risotto knows that Hiraeth still has a life outside the mafia unlike him and strictly ordered her to never let anyone know about it.

► So what's better disguise than looking like your Capo's crazy twin sister, right?

► Fast forward to La Squadra finding out who Oneira is anyway since you can't really hide anything for that long in a group of nine men.

► Now that they know what she looks like under that cake of white face paint and eyeliner, she has to say goodbye and go solo for safety purposes.

► "Fucking great job, Illuso." "Hey, it wasn't just me! "

► Going solo and building a name for herself after leaving the gang didn't start well either since rumors are inevitable so Oneira really has to avoid La Squadra and lay-low until the rumors subside.

► But sometimes she'll slip in and surprise everyone in the hideout which always ends up with them drinking and trashing the place all night then waking up with Risotto sitting across them with a glare.

► Worry not though, Oneira wouldn't be there to suffer Risotto's wrath since she'll be long gone along with Sorbet and Gelato before their capo could even go back home.

► Cue to three of them laughing like maniacs at 6AM as they drive to Oneira's house to hide using Ghiaccio's car that's covered in pink glitter and puke, with Melone passed out naked and tied in the trunk.

► "Hello?! This is Formaggio, where the hell are you guys?! Gelato, i could hear you guys laughing, come back here you cowards! Risotto's gonna kill us!" "I'm sorry but we missed the part where that's our problem*hangs up*"

With the JoFoes

► This would be a whole another AU from the ones above since Hiraeth only knows Diavolo and Doppio but her with the other villains would be more chaotic than when she's with La Squadra.

► Since this is an AU where Hiraeth doesn't really have to be either Oneira or Maestra, she can do whatever she wants(Hell yeah)

► So if they ever watched JJBA with her, they all better prepare to be bullied for the next 5 days.

► "Dio, wHY?! " "Imagine getting your ass kicked before stands even existed. Atleast, you're sexy though. " "DIO please, you look like a banana fuckboy and you kill dogs. " "Kira, i don't even know where to start. " "Maybe if you stopped shouting your stupid villain monologue then you would've gotten the arrow. "

► Everyone's laughing until it's their turn to be bullied for the dumb shit they did in the show. No one's truly safe except for those whose parts still hasn't gotten an anime adaptation.

► "Atleast we know basic math, Hiraeth. Go back to Fugo and join Narancia, maybe you'd learn something from that 16 year old. " "HOW DARE YOU?! "

► When i said no one's safe, i meant it^

► Don't worry, they're all still buddies and would still start fires together at the end of the day.

Escapism Background Lore

So, here’s that jjba x reader idea I had that’s set in vento aureo? There’s going to be more other than this but here’s the basic background stuff under cut.

Escapism AU M. List

Originally, mc is from our universe (this is because I like isekai situations) and was planning on going on vacation to Italy

Due to universe shenanigans, she ends up in 2001 in the jjba universe

She makes the decision to stay away from the plot and she succedes, mostly, aside from running into a few characters along the way

The events of part 5 unfold and the people who die, die and mc is relatively unharmed

This was their happy ending, right?

She didn’t have to get involved

Unfortunately, that isn’t the case

Time resets again except instead of the end of March 2001, it’s January 1999

She’s got an appartment and is enrolled in probably the same school as Giorno

She doesn’t really exist in the sense that there aren’t any documents on her (isekai bs)

She takes the whole time resetting thing as a sign that she not allowed to avoid everything and live peacefully

Which means she probably has the save the characters that die (Bucci gang and maybe La Squadra included)

Fun

Unintentionally, mc gets involved with Passione way sooner than she expected within a week of time resetting again when she saw the lighter being relit

mc, running after seeing a lighter relit in 1999: F*ck, f*ck, f*ck!

She gains a stand :)

The person who was originally doing Polpo’s test is probably dead

Mc doesn’t get listed as collateral yet but she ends up joining Passione somehow

I’ll probably make another post talking about my idea for her stand

Mc drifts from section to section in Passione, doing jobs as she’s needed

She sorta just, joins in on missions randomly

Except the narcotics division

She burnt down a warehouse once “accidentally” and isn’t allowed near them again

However, due to her constant shifting between divisions, she runs into Doppio way more than she would have liked

Likely, she’s worked with the Bucci gang and La Squadra which is how she becomes friends with them

Note: mc joined Passione prior to Narancia joining (Fugo and Abbacchio were already recuited sometime before? I’m not sure about exact dates)

I’ll make a seperate post about character interactions, maybe

I’m going to have to make so many seperate posts now that I think about it

Anyways, that’s about it for the general info post

I actually have an au of this au that I might talk about some other time

JJBA (VA) Purge AU (cont)

part 1

(if the layout feels messy, it’s bc im literally brainstorming as i go lol)

since Italy obviously doesn't have Founding Fathers, i've decided that:

- the Purge is an idea from a branch of the government called Arrow

- the idea is that each year an "arrow" will be "shot" (ie the Purge) to "kill off" the suffering & crimes & poverty & general unwanted bs in the world (or just Italy i guess jsgjfhdhd), and then Requiem Italy is post-Purge, or "cleansed" Italy

4. Bucciarati:

i'm pretty torn on Bucci's background. at first i was like "he's gonna be this righteous leader against Arrow," but that's kinda boring and my bruabba braincells were acting up, so:

Bucciarati doesn't need the Purge. he justifies who he kills, and why, himself. the whole thing abt his parents' divorce and his dad's encounter with suspicious people still happened, so he kills to protect his dad (& other innocents when needed).

unfortunately, the suspicious ppl his dad encountered was affiliated with Arrow, and soon they realize that they can't have 1) people going around dirtying Arrow's image (like Bucci's dad), and 2) people who don't see the benefit of the Purge (Bucci who just commits crimes blatantly). so they send people (kinda like Big Daddy's minions in "Purge: Anarchy") to kill off Bucci's dad. Bucci becomes better and better at killing by defending his dad from these oncoming attacks, and he also realizes that Arrow's program is only to benefit the people in power and the rich. plus they aren't even following the rules they preach, and instead just flat out target the Buccis 24/7, since they're only a poor family of two. Bucci refuses to participate in Purges, but kills Arrow soldiers regularly.

and then word gets out to the police. since Bucci is basically a rogue criminal who's managed to evade the law (Arrow can't get rid of him but they can't arrest him either bc then it would be obvious that they're trying to cover up sth sus), the police sends Abbacchio after him in that year's Purge.

side note abt the timeline:

- let's say "that year" is either 2001 (when canon VA happened) or 1/a few years before, i haven't decided

- Giorno probably killed his parents in 2000's Purge

- Fugo & Abba Purge every year so the timeline doesn't mean shit to them :'D

5. Mista:

mmnnggghhhhh im really struggling w Mista & Narancia :'D let's see:

since canonically Bucci recruits Mista for his gunslinging skills, and before he joined Passione Mista was just this guy who was trying to mind his own business, have a good life & maybe do morally good things once in a while

Mista probably doesn't Purge. he's one of those ppl who lockdown at home and just chill while listening to the raging bs outside. he's on the fence about whether Purge actually benefits society or not.

he will become involved with the Purge and the fight with Arrow one day, but i'm starting to come up with a plot for this, so no spoilers ;)

but i will say this: even if Mista happens to be out in the streets during Purge one day, he'll probably be fine purely bc his gunslinging skills are so great.

6. Narancia:

(back to struggling)

Narancia is a rich boi, but neither he or his family enjoys Purging. they either only watch Purges happen like rich elites do, or just lockdown like Mista and doesn't care. but then Narancia's mom died, and his dad's attitude began to change, so Narancia became rebellious and joined a gang (that one with that blond dude that later betrayed him, y'all know what im talking abt). this gang is kinda like that weird-ass creepy gang at the beginning of "Purge: Anarchy," in that they tail ppl around and kills/vandalizes for fun. and Narancia was still just an impressionable young boi with a knack for violence and destruction, so he's like "hell yea hail Purges"

so that's what Nara does, until one day the gang leader (blond dude) gets greedy and orders the gang to do some illegal shit like minutes away from the ending sirens. (oh yeah and he already told Nara to dye his hair so he'd look like him.) and then when the sirens blare, Narancia is stuck behind "committing a crime," so he's put into juvenile jail. in there he has quiet reflection time, and he realizes that Purges do nothing but hurt the weak & vulnerable, and became disgusted at his old way of thinking. so when he was released, he swore off Purging. but ofc his gang isn't happy about that, so they probably come back to terrorize him or some shit. AND his dad probably is deadbeat asf and doesn't even give a shit abt his ex-convict son, so Narancia becomes this scared child out in the streets, living in fear of the next Purge that he sees others preaching about every day.

IM SO TORN IN TERMS OF SHIPPING YALL HAVE NO IDEA, LIKE:

- bruabba?? DEFINITELY HAPPENING i live & breathe for them i love them sm

- giomis? to be completely honest, even when i was watching the anime for the first time, i never felt the same passion for them as other fans seem to :'(

- so im really thinking abt fugio, which will be great cos i already have a scenario abt how they're gonna meet

- but then fugonara comes to torment me, and like, i don't ship naramis either. and i'm like, not everyone has to fall in love. so i'll just have bruabba and fugio??

- but THEN my brain comes up w a scenario for fugonara

- which actually... will work great if their rela is one-sided????? but I'LL BE IN PAIN AND NOBODY LIKES THAT ;_;

let me do my girl Trish and then maybe i'll reveal the scenarios, maybe not ;)

7. Trish:

obv Diavolo is the asshole who runs Arrow and proposed the Purge to the Italian gov first.

in this AU he and Trish will probs have a relationship cos i do be having daddy issues tho and i just need my dad representation ;_; but that don't mean this gna be a good relationship :')

Diavolo's probably also deadbeat asf, but Trish knows this young man, Doppio, who seems to work closely with her father, but unlike many of his colleagues is very sweet to her. the only thing she kinda hates abt him is how he always praise Arrow and the Purge, as if it's the one solution to all the problems in the world.

Trish herself is indifferent towards Purge. she never has to participate anyway, and is never in danger either (bc of her dad obv). but she always feels icky when she has to go to these over-the-top parties where rich people gather to watch the poor & the crazy slaughter each other. but if given the choice, she will probably just turn a blind eye and be a bystander to ppl's suffering, since she isn't sure if she even has enough strength to go against her father.

Trish will also get involved w Bucci and stuff, but i 1) haven't decided how yet, and 2) don't wanna provide spoilers, soooooo

Golden Wind AU where Giorno uses Gold Experience Requiem to bring Bruno, Narancia and Abbacchio back to life. He revives Doppio too and he joins the Bucci gang.

Then they learn about La Squadra's betrayal as well and how they had similar motives too and so he revives them all as well.

Diavolo still dies so that makes this canon.

I'll give bucci gang and the book-exclusive characters their own posts but for now,

Leaky-eye Luca: Mudwing, bc shovel=dirt i guess...? His leaky eye has a gnarly scar bc dragon medicine isnt nearly as advanced as modern human's.

Polpo: Nightwing. Im partial to the theory that Polpo and Ris are somehow related, and I think he'd either be smthn like Darkstalker or he lived in a cell in the nightwing island writing fake prophecies. Probably died in the eruption, rip

Sale: Sandwing. A two-bit treasure hunter who looks more to steal from others to avoid doing the hard work and risk of tracking it down himself. Techinally part of the outclaws, but he never gets any 'real jobs' and is paid pennies for it anyway. He's given a lot of consideration to running away with Zucchero to the rainforest or towards the town of Possibility if things so south.

Zucchero: Rainwing. His sloth's name is Softie and he never looks where he's flying. He helps Sale by eavesdropping in camoflauge because he also wants treasure and is better at sneaking around to gather information. He's unintentionally given Sale a habit of napping in the middle of the day with him, and often cuddles up next to him or under his wing for warmth against the desert's nighttime chill. His main reason for wanting to leave the desert are concerns for Softies' health.

Carne: Nightwing. Bullied by the appearence concious Nightwings and then the beauty obsessed Rainwings for being too quiet and too unattractive, he all but threw himself at Cio's mercy when the rainwing showed the slightest feigned kindness to him. Cio couldn't find much satisfaction from killing a dragon so filled with hopelessness, as his reason for killing is to watch life and hope struggle against death and ultimately lose. In the end, Carne became sort of a second Secco, useful if only for the extra muscle and a strong stomach for tortured screams.

Scolippi: Icewing. I personally subscribe to the theory that rolling stone boye was Melone's half-brother, in this au they grew up apart but try their best to communicate with each other. Unfortunately, as Scolippi is not physically fit enough to join the army he's not allowed outside the icewing kingdom, so to get them out Melone will need a little help...

Doppio/Diavolo: Skywing. An animus dragon who pulls strings in the shadows, hiding within the mind of his younger self. If anyone finds out who he is, he can simply order them dead. He skips past the hard work of building relationships and connections, leaving only the results of the power he weilds.

Trish (Shadow Soul Parasite AU)

I’m not 100% on Trish’s backstory for this AU, but this is the draft I got.

Trish is a synergy user who uses forbidden magic. Diavolo and Doppio are in this AU, with Diavolo becoming a shadow parasite and Doppio was caught in the cross fire and became the host. She escaped in order to purify her father, she’ll come across the Bucci gang and join up on their quest.

Hello there, darling! Ooooooh, what a prompt *.* Ok! So… I hope this is actually something you may like? To be short, this is an AU where Trish is adult and the Boss of Passione. She’s not a tyrant like Diavolo and she had her son, Doppio, from a one night stand with Donatello Una, and then she had to send Doppio away in order to protect him. So, here, Trish doesn’t want to kill her son, but just to have him near in order to protect him from her enemies -who aren’t the Squadra, as she’s a way more fair leader than Diavolo and so she doesn’t disrespect them-, and Bucci gang is ordered to escort him to her -as Diavolo ordered in canon to do with Trish-. I hope you’ll like it!! In case, please dm me to discuss it!

(Also: a calletta is a “long and narrow street” in Venetian dialect; if you go to Venice, you may hear someone saying “we’re going on a calletta”, it’s how Venetians call their streets, as with other terms)

Boss of Passione Trish Una orders Bruno’s gang to escort her son Doppio, who’s on the run from her enemies, to her

Doppio always knew he wasn’t a boy like the others. He could see and hear things others couldn’t. Sometimes, a voice talked to him from inside his head, and it was so real… he even asked to a psychiatrist, he took specific meds, but nothing seemed to work. The voice was still here, it kept him company when everyone else was leaving him alone. It was his best friend, and his name was Diavolo.

Sometimes Doppio suffered of amnesia and Diavolo, his friend, always told him not to worry about it, that he just took over his body for a little while. Usually, when it happened, a couple of bullies didn’t even dare to come near Doppio anymore.

Doppio’s life wasn’t bad. He just knew who his father was and that he died when he was little. He knew he was the son of Donatello Una, but he absolutely didn’t know who his mother was. The old woman who took care of him never said a word about his mother’s identity. This until Doppio’s fifteenth birthday and his stand’s awakening.

The first time Doppio saw King Crimson, he didn’t feel scared or anguished. It was like… meeting a part of himself. It was like talking to Diavolo, in a certain sense: it felt right, it felt safe. He knew that King Crimson wouldn’t have ever hurt him, as he was part of him.

That night, his tutor, for the first time, talked about his mother’s identity, revealing that she was –she is- a mobster. No, not a simple mobster: she was the leader, the Donna of the most powerful gang in all Italy, Passione. She told him that Trish, this was his mother’s name, after giving him birth, sent him far away to protect him from her enemies, at least until his stand’s awakening. King Crimson was a powerful stand and, she said, his mother’s enemies’ boss was able to feel and track powerful stands such as his one. Trish too had surely felt the awakening, as she and her son shared a special and strong bond since Doppio’s birth. And she was right: Trish, the exact moment King Crimson awakened, jolted awake in cold sweet, feeling a pull in her chest, knowing instinctively that her son was now ready to come back to her. Her heart was pounding both for excitement and worry: she couldn’t wait to see again her son in person… but many dangers were waiting for him. Her enemies would have tried to kidnap him, in order to find her thanks to their shared bond… it couldn’t happen. She had to protect him at any cost, even if she couldn’t just come out and expose herself so carelessly… so she decided to entrust one of her most loyal and powerful teams to protect her son and bring him to her.

The day after his tutor’s revelation, a man named Pericolo came to pick him from his home. Doppio looked behind, with a deep sadness and… nostalgia, in his eyes, as he watched for the last time the place which had been the only home he ever knew for fifteen years and the old woman who always took care of him. He smiled a little, waving at her, before following Pericolo on his new journey.

The day after, his old home was burned down with the old woman inside.

Doppio met up with his “protection team”, Pericolo called them so, two days after his leaving. He was a bit scared: how would those gangsters have been? Would they have been… nice? At least amiable? He really didn’t know. He just hoped to come out alive…

This until he actually met Bruno Bucciarati and his gang. Doppio was stunned by the gentle yet powerful aura the man emanated. He felt… safe, as almost as he felt with Diavolo and King Crimson. He knew that Bucciarati and his gang would have brought him alive and in one piece to his mother.

He liked them. He liked them a lot. Yes, Fugo had some evident anger issue, Abbacchio sometimes seemed almost apathetic and lost in his thought, but all in all they all were fine and nice. They were surprised, of course, to know that their Boss had a son, but, aside from that, they welcomed him in the group. Doppio, for the first time in his life, felt the warmth of a sort of camaraderie, of friendship. He knew he would have fought at their side, that Diavolo too, who was vibrating inside him, would have fought at their side, as he deemed them worthy -and it wasn’t easy to be considered such by his other part-.

And he didn’t have to wait to much for that moment. While they were on the rapido for Florence, a group of their enemies attacked them, without any regard for the other passengers’ life. Doppio never saw a corpse, before, never saw so much blood, never saw someone else’s eyes open and empty. He never saw a horror like this.

And this, this deep injustice, the sight of innocent people dismissed like they were nothing more than bugs, made him snap.

To his protectors’ utter surprise, Diavolo came out, changing Doppio physically. His hair became longer and dotted, his body more buffed. His sweet hazelnut eyes turned into a shocking green and even his aura was changed, Giorno noticed. It was more menacing, more powerful… and, when King Crimson came out, with another wave of pure power, Giorno, for the first time since his joining, trembled. That power… it was the power of a future boss. If Doppio Una’s stand was like this, how was his mother’s, then?

With Diavolo, more resolute and ready to fight than the sweeter and meeker Doppio, King Crimson and his incredible ability at their side, they won, even if they were in heavy numerical disadvantage. When Doppio came back, stumbling and blinking like crazy, he had gained a new respect, thanks to his ability in battle. Now the group saw him not just as the person they had to protect, as a sort of “pack” they had to deliver: he was now one of them, one of the group. An ally who had fought at their side… a friend. You can’t help but become friends, when you fight for your life at someone’s else side and Doppio Una learned it, that day.

After that, the journey proceeded more or less easily. After dropping the train, since it was evidently not safe enough, the group stole a car -actually a minivan, since they were a big group- and proceeded towards Venice, where his mother was waiting for him.

It was the last night before their arrival to Venice. The only one awake was Bruno, who was driving. The others were all sleeping one on each other, in a big, snoring -from Mista and slightly Abbacchio side- pile. Doppio couldn’t help but smile. They really were a family… the thought of it, of a family, made his smile disappear. Family… he was about to meet his family, the mother he never knew. He wondered how she was. Was she a good person? As good a person could be while running a criminal organization. Would she have been… happy to see him and the young man he was? Or maybe she would have been disappointed? He was so scared…

“Don’t worry, Doppio.” Bruno said, in a low and gentle voice. Doppio jolted, taken aback and feeling immediately guilty. Were his thoughts so obvious? Bruno smiled, in his reassuring way, without tearing his eyes away from the dark road ahead.

“Our Boss is not a bad person. She refuses to sell drug to kids and women and she generally tries to keep innocent people out of criminal affairs. I’m sure it will go all well. She’ll love you; no, she already loves you. She’s your mother: she can’t hate or despise you, especially since you’re a good boy.” Bruno watched him briefly, smiling, before turning his head back to the road. Doppio didn’t know how to reply; it was like all his voice and words just disappeared. And so, he didn’t say anything, just nodding to the older man, and looking ahead, taking a deep breath. Truth was, Bruno’s words had reassured him a lot. Maybe it would have gone well, all in all…

When morning came, the group finally arrived to Venice. The exact moment they entered the city borders, they felt observed, and they were right. From the roofs, a couple was observing them and, when the group finally noticed them, already compatting around Doppio, to protect him, they smirked, hopping down, at a safe distance. They introduced themselves as Tiziano and Squalo, two of the personal guards of the Boss, her Unità Speciale, and they were here both to patrol the city, to keep their Boss safe, both to make sure that the Boss’ son was fine. Doppio forced himself not to shrink under the couple’s intense gaze, to face them as who he was: the son of their Boss and a proud stand user. He seemed to have passed whichever exam to which he was being subjected, as the two nodded, satisfied, before telling -more like ordering- the group to follow them, to reach for the Boss’ location.

Doppio’s heart began to pound again, as his feet seemed heavier and heavier at each step. And so here he was, the moment to meet his mother was finally come. He didn’t even know how he was feeling… excited? Worried? Scared? Happy? Maybe all of them? He took a deep breath, feeling the safe presence of Diavolo, his other half, in his mind, and also King Crimson’s, in a corner of his soul. Well… with them near him, nothing could go wrong, in any case.

“Please, sit here. The Boss will come soon.” Tiziano said, pointing at a mostly hidden table in a nice café in one of Venice’s many secluded callette. It was a safe and private place, perfect for a so important meeting.

There were enough chairs for everyone, meaning that the Boss wanted to meet them all. They all sat down, a bit nervous; even if she never hid her identity, she was careful about it, revealing it just to her most trusted collaborators, such as Capiregime, her Consiglieri, the leaders of élite teams and her guards. If she wanted to see them all, this meant that she really trusted them; otherwise, she would have required just Bruno’s presence, as he was a new Caporegime who still hadn’t meet the Boss.

Doppio started to fidget, nervous. Several minutes were already passed and still nothing had happened. Maybe… maybe she saw him and was so disappointed to not want to see him anymore? Those thoughts, however, ended as soon as the clicking rhythmic sound of heels broke the tense silence on the table.

All the boys shot up from their chairs, slightly bowing to a figure behind Doppio. Doppio swallowed, knowing that they would have done something similar just for one person.

He slowly got up, tense and nervous, finally turning around and facing his mother.

Hazelnut eyes reflected in a fresh green ones, really similar to his when Diavolo took over him; Doppio watched her, his mother, for the first time. He recognized his nose in hers, even his freckles in hers; her hair styled in an elaborate and exquisite way were pink as his… he swallowed again, at a loss of words. He didn’t have any doubt, now: she really was his mother. And, by the look on her face and the tears pooled in her eyes, she wasn’t disappointed to see him.

Trish slowly approached him, as she feared to scare him, and lifted a hand, placing it on Doppio’s cheek. She smiled, as a tear escaped her control, lifting her other hand too and stroking his free cheek, like every mother would do with her child. Doppio couldn’t help but brokenly chuckle, as tears started to stream down his cheeks, on his mother’s hands. He had been accepted. He was… worthy. She loved him.

“Look how you’ve grown, you’re taller than me…” she murmured, with a small chuckle on her own, while Doppio held her hands on his cheeks, happy beyond imagination. He slightly nodded, sniffling, looking at her with glossy and joyous eyes. His mother…

“I missed you, mom.” he murmured, sincere, making her lip tremble, as she tried to contain a sob. Instead, she smiled again, between tears, before bringing him forward, to hug him in a tight grip, as to never let him go, never more, not again. She already had to let her baby boy go once, but not again. Now he wasn’t a defenseless baby anymore: he was a young man with a powerful stand and he would have stayed near her until every single one who wanted to use him for their dirty goals hadn’t been dead. This was her promise.

“You’re home, Doppio, now. My sweet Doppio…” she whispered, gently stroking his hair, basking in that long, long moment. Her son was home…

He was finally where he belonged to.
