Yandere Wu Chang with a Chinese reader who is from modern day
Reaction and a little bit of headcanons!
Also tysm for sending an ask in! If my reqs are ever open, feel free to just go for it ^^ Ik how scary it is to send one in. Especially if the creator has other asks they've been working on, and the paranoia of breaking rules. But you're fine!
Also please correct me if i had gotten anything wrong about Chinese culture. I had only retained some information from a historical accuracy review video and somewhat prior information. Please educate me if you can or like to!
"My, isn't that interesting?" Bi'an walks over and sits next to you, placing his umbrella to the side, "Tell me, how has society progressed through the years? You said your original time was 2023 right?"
You nod, slightly flustered from his sudden interest. Bi'an is suddenly dropped over with a black liquid, and then appears Wujiu, "It seems the rumors are true. Do tell us more Y/n."
Both are ECSTATIC
There were rumors floating around that you were from the future when you first entered. Considering that they're in a manor containing all sorts of supernatural occurrences and people, they weren't all that shocked by it.
Not to say they weren't incredibly curious though! Though Wujiu was more excited than Bi'an hehe.
They talk extensively about you and what the future may hold. What kind of inventions have been made? How have clothing trends changed? Is this person still popular or at least known? How would the people of your time feel about this certain social custom?
What was your daily life? Did anybody give you trouble? Why was this "internet" filled with such strange and quite frankly disturbing content? (Oncler simps /j) Is this why your posture was so bad? Douyin makeup and fashion? Wow they look like dolls! But they amount of product they use in order to attain such a look is quite much sometimes haha.
OH MY GOD THE CHINESE FANTASY/HISTORICAL DRAMAS? They're absolutely entranced by it. Bi'an mostly comments on how historically inaccurate they are, and how outrageous the characters are.
Bi'an: Ah no, this is incorrect as well. The main lady should not be in such fine condition after such a dilemma. I'm surprised she had not been given rags to wear and executed by the emperor instead... What an interesting tale.
Wujiu usually makes passing comments on how they're all attractive, and talks as if he was in the drama itself.
Wujiu: HOLY SHIT IF YOU DON'T JUST FIGHT THIS MISTRESS, WOMAN IM GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU.
Takes everything seriously there 😭 Bi'an has to switch in order to apologize to you and tell Fan he's scaring you.
Since you adorn such simple clothing, they question you about Chinese culture a lot. Had such articles of clothing been lost to time? What traditions are still practiced? Wait, the average are allowed people cut their hair? How shocking! Isn't that disrespectful to their parents? Er, which ruler is in charge of the north now?
Once you tell them all of the things that connect you to your chinese heritage, they will try and do EVERYTHING you used to do.
New Year's was it? Ah they have been on a westerners calendar for a while, so they have not been up to date. Well, this calls for special red envelopes and beautiful clothing does it not?
Adorns you only in the most beautiful traditional clothing. Hanfu's are flowy and can be quite modest, but Qipao's can be intricate and beautifully simple. Oh but you could also wear a Tangzhuang. Matching with them, what a dream come true! So cute you are... Agh, they just can't pick! Why do you have to be so beautiful?
They are also surprised by how modern traditional clothing has become. Clothing like that would've been years worth of salary for the average man! How lucky you are to be able to wear such things for a price.
Although they doll you up and celebrate with you, you aren't allowed to do anything more than to stay with them and obey the usual rules during all of it.
Damn, you don't even get anything of real material value in the red envelope. It's a love letter and a small gift. Usually jewelry or something of that minimal sort. (The gift is meaningless to you as you receive all kinds of unwanted things from them 24/7)
They are glad you are of the same ethnic background of them! You both may have not been from the same place or time, but you two both have a personal understanding of each other's identity.
Partaking in various conversations about culture, technology, celebrating traditions, partially speaking in similar language... All and more of these things have them head over heels for you.
You're just perfect! How could they ever have been so lucky to encounter someone like you in this afterlife? Although they wish not to have experienced such past hardships, they're glad all of that had amounted to this moment.
It thrills them to know that they understand you more than anyone else in this manor. No one else could spend time and appreciate you like this here. It's only them who can truly make you feel at home. A home with them. Your lovers.
Perhaps being in this wretched manor has brought something worthwhile after all. Even if they don't win, at least they have something they can bring back with them.

hi! i hope you dont mind me asking, but in some of the hanfu douyins sometimes women have red markings on their faces, do you know what theyre called? theyre very pretty! but why don't any men wear it tho?
The red markings are a type of makeup called 花钿/huadian. It was worn historically by Chinese women (as a makeup trend basically).
This was not a trend for men historically so you typically do not see it worn by men unless it’s in art or TV (especially the wuxia/xianxia fantasy genre). In those cases, usually the huadian signifies that they are an immortal being (deity or demon).
The only other time boys would have a huadian would be when they’re babies/children. It’s fairly popular to draw a red dot on the forehead of both little boys and girls, usually for auspicious occasions… First day of school, a pre-school/kindergarten teacher might give each student a red dot, for example, or you might get a red dot to take New Years photos… or for school recitals. It depends on where you’re from, I guess, because it might be more of a folk tradition.

What is Douyin Makeup? A Guide to Trends, Looks, and Products
If you’re curious about how long a makeup trend will last, just check out TikTok! Some makeup trends are only popular for a short time, but others are more long-lasting. Douyin makeup is one of those long-lasting trends that you might have seen on your TikTok “For You” page. It’s so popular that the hashtag has over 1.3 million views on TikTok.
Makeup artist Lewis Chia has made several Douyin makeup videos that have gone viral. He loves how Douyin makeup enhances your natural features while still letting them shine through.
Another makeup artist, Taylour Chanel, thinks Douyin makeup is great because it’s soft and gentle, which is different from the edgy, cool makeup trends we’ve seen recently. Chanel says that Douyin Makeup is answering a call that people are looking for in the beauty world right now.
What Is Douyin Makeup?
Tumblr media
Douyin makeup is a trendy makeup style from China that’s becoming more popular in other parts of the world, especially thanks to TikTok. The look is all about a natural, glowing complexion and uses shimmery eyeshadow, pink blush, and soft lips.
Some people have been confusing Douyin makeup with Korean beauty, but it’s important to remember that they’re different styles from different cultures. Douyin makeup was created by Chinese makeup influencers and emphasizes glittery eyeshadow and dramatic lashes, while Korean beauty uses a more minimal eye look.
Even though it’s a traditional East Asian look, people around the world are starting to take inspiration from Douyin makeup and make it their own. Makeup creator Kamille Gregory was curious to see how the style would look on her, and now she loves it too!

GJ and ZZH Updates — September 18-24
<<< previous week || all posts || following week >>>
This is part of a weekly series collecting updates from and relating to Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan.
This post is not wholly comprehensive and is intended as an overview, links provided lead to further details. Dates are in accordance with China Standard Time, the organization is chronological. My own biases on some things are reflected here. Anything I include that is not concretely known is indicated as such, and you’re welcome to do your own research and draw your own conclusions as you see fit. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or additions. :)
[Glossary of names and terms]  [Masterlist of my posts about the situation with Zhang Zhehan]
09-18 → Youku posted Gong Jun’s photos from the Louis Vuitton event to their Twitter.
→ #Wenzhou trended on Twitter.
→ Gong Jun reposted a post from People Daily in rememberance of the anniversary of Japan invading China. His added caption: “Always remember history, we will improve ourselves, and revitalize China!” It was also reposted by his studio with the added caption, “Don't forget history, cherish peace, and we will improve ourselves!”
→ MOSH acc posted a promotional video spoken by Gong Jun to their Xiao Hong Shu, crossposted to their Weibo.
→ QuelleVous posted about a finding relating to the incident from last September known as shrinegate, where both Gong Jun and another actor, Zhu Yilong, were targetted by slander very similar to that of 813. At the time, Gong Jun and his studio quickly showed proof against it, while the other actor stayed silent; only Gong Jun got on hotsearch. [full summary]
QuelleVous found that a Baidu page related to the shrine Zhu Yilong was being targetted with was edited on the same day to present it in a more favourable light; the person who edited this page is an irl friend of one of the people who edited the Dewi Sukarno’s Baidu page on 21-08-12. No speculation about Zhu Yilong is being put forward at this time, as he himself might not be responsible for this.
→ Gong Jun followed Li Ronghao’s Douyin account (exact time and date unknown). (He’s also still following Zhang Zhehan’s deactivated account.)
09-19 → Safeguard posted a commercial featuring Gong Jun to their Douyin.
→ Kangshifu posted an illustrated ad featuring Gong Jun.
→ Hogan posted a promotional video spoken by Gong Jun. (cw for flashing images at the end) They later posted the same video to Twitter.
→ Li Xuezheng spoke at an industry conference (subbed video forthcoming). Toxics spread false rumors that he talked about Zhang Zhehan, the Instagram, the tea shop, and Gong Jun, apparently not realizing that the livestream was being recorded and thus it could be very easily proven that he did not speak about any of these things.
→ Louis Vuitton posted a video with comments from various artists who attended the show, Gong Jun is at 00:38. (subs below)
09-20 → Colgate posted a commercial featuring Gong Jun.
→ Gong Jun filed a lawsuit against Hive-Box for unlicensed commercial use of his image.
→ Kangshifu posted three illustrated ads featuring Gong Jun.
→ Louis Vuitton posted a video of Gong Jun touring the show grounds to their Weibo, their Twitter, and their Instagram, crossposted with Gong Jun’s account. They also posted Gong Jun’s clip from the previous day’s video to both Twitter and Instagram with English subs.
09-21 → The commencement ceremony for Fox Spirit Matchmaker was held.
→ QuelleVous posted that the same group who edited the Baidu pages for Xie Yihua, Dewi Sukarno, and Nogi Shrine in August 2021 also maliciously edited Zhang Zhehan’s on 813 (prior to his statement) and 21-08-15, and Gong Jun’s in March and April of this year.
→ Gong Jun posted two photo ads he did for Charlotte Tilbury. Caption: “The CT powder has a new friend - the soft focus brightening powder, which is the source of my self-confidence inside and outside the camera. With a swipe, you will have a fair and translucent makeup, with it, you will be the focus!” This was reposted by Charlotte Tilbury.
→ Kangshifu posted an illustrated ad featuring Gong Jun.
→ Legend of AnLe’s Weibo posted a promotional poster for the show featuring Gong Jun and Dilireba, with a tag indicating it will air in 2023. Caption: “Riddles are passed on the chessboard, the affection is shared, the love of my heart, and the sounds of chess with you.” Gong Jun’s studio reposted it with the added caption, “#Gong Jun Han Ye# uses chess to convey ideas, sincerity and fearlessness, Prince Han Ye @ Gong Jun Simon is waiting for good news.” (Aren’t we all.) 361° left a comment on the repost, “Looking forward to Legend of AnLe, looking forward to Gong Jun”
Tumblr media
Half an hour later, they also posted the first trailer. (subs below) Caption: “People’s hearts are unpredictable, for oneself, for the family and for the country, the situation is surging; protect each other in troubled times, for love and promise, you can learn from the sincerity. In this life, in that life, I wish people to follow along and be happy forever.” Gong Jun posted it as well, caption: “The heart is towards the people, keep the peace of Dajing, and share the prosperity of the world.” as did his studio, caption: “With a warm heart, I wish the world will be peaceful. Looking forward to seeing you soon with Prince Han Ye!” The Legend of AnLe Weibo reposted Gong Jun’s post with the added caption, “The eyes are full of affection, and the space is full of splendor.”
Multiple hashtags about the show were on Weibo’s hotsearch. #GongJun, #Dilireba, and #LegendofAnLe trended on Twitter.
→ Youku posted the Legend of AnLe poster on Twitter. Caption: “Love arises from the chessboard, but we are both preoccupied. Let's fall in love and be together happily forever.” They also later posted the trailer with English subs, caption: “She holds a sword and rides a horse in red. She finds her soulmate to spend the rest of her life happily. Ten years of deep love is entangled with the enmity of nation and family! How will they end up?”
→ QuelleVous posted that the wedding reception from the Nogi Shrine photos was held at a club owned by the groom’s Chinese brother. Due to the nature of Shinto weddings, only close family attended the actual ceremony at Nogi Shrine—Zhang Zhehan was not well aquainted with the groom and attended only the reception as the +1 of a mutual friend. Followups: [1] [2] [3] [4]
QuelleVous also made another post confirming many people’s suspicions that there was a mole within Zhang Zhehan’s studio who is the source of the leaked real photos and videos Xie Yihua and co. have put out. This mole was involved in 813.
→ Colgate posted a photo ad featuring Gong Jun to advertise an offline promotion.
→ The Instagram posted three photos of “Zhang Zhehan” playing guitar and four of Kele. His bone structure has visibly changed again.
09-22 → Fox Spirit Matchmaker’s Weibo posted six promotional stills of its lead cast, including Gong Jun. Caption: “Peace of mind between the two worlds, one wish for the world to be troubled in the future, only love will last forever”
→ Gong Jun posted the still of himself from Fox Spirit Matchmaker. Caption: “Dongfang blood, empty tears, I must be the first person to make a name for himself, punish evil and promote goodness!” His studio reposted it with the added caption, “The unruly young man is famous all over the world. Looking forward to seeing you @Gong Jun Simon!”
Tumblr media
→ Fox Spirit Matchmaker’s producer posted an additional still of Gong Jun.
→ Gong Jun posted both stills to his Instagram, caption: “Dongfang Yuechu too!” (10:39, 1129 kadian)
→ Cinem@rt announced that the Japanese release of Word of Honor will be available on Amazon Prime’s Entertainment Asia channel starting 10-01.
→ Charlotte Tilbury posted a photo ad and later a commercial featuring Gong Jun.
→ Fox Spirit Matchmaker’s Weibo posted a group photo from its commencement ceremony the previous day. Caption: “Although there are all things in the world, love and protection are the eternal propositions ❤”
→ Gong Jun’s studio posted four pictures of him from Fox Spirit Matchmaker’s commencement ceremony. (15:28, 5 29 if you move the 1 to the minutes) Caption: “The ink blue shirt is light and elegant, and the elegant son is coming.”
09-23 → Rakuten announced that it will be featuring Gong Jun’s 2017 drama Advance Bravely starting 09-26. (Obviously they were inspired by all the horrible jokes I’ve been making while watching it.)
→ Hsu Fu Chi posted a photo ad featuring Gong Jun.
→ Kangshifu posted an illustrated ad featuring Gong Jun.
→ Mengniu posted a photo ad featuring Gong Jun.
→ ELLE magazine announced that Gong Jun will be appearing in a short film about nature conservation titled Guardian of Alpine Plants, which will air on 09-27.
09-24 → Nothing of note.

Tumblr media
i was lucky to grow up with a mom who didn’t wear makeup, and to never feel pressured by my surroundings as a kid/teen. so makeup just wasn’t a thing in my mind for most of my life.
but lately, i’ve been getting more and more douyin (chinese tiktok) makeup videos on my instagram feed. it probably doesn’t help that i stare at them instead of swiping by... but the transformations are surreal, i really cannot believe the normalization of this as a daily look. this level of makeup doesn’t look human anymore.
i feel like i’m losing my mind kinda, but even though i say this, even though i don’t even dress very femininely, i feel like i’m slowly being brainwashed. i find myself thinking like “huh, maybe some pink eyeshadow would look cute”. which wouldn’t be so bad in itself, but it really feels like a downward spiral waiting for me. because if you apply pink eyeshadow on a bare face, it will look nothing like these pictures. i’d have to buy primer, concealer, etc (things i wouldn’t even know about if it wasn’t for social media). and then my eyes would look all flat without eyeliner, and then my eyelashes would be too light, so i’d have to wear mascara... it just never ends.
“they’re just doing it for fun”. maybe? i’m skeptical at best, given the amount of women irl who feel like their bare face is an ugly secret. but even if it is for them, as for myself, i am a perfeccionist, an obsessive person, which i didn’t know back then but, it seems it’s what made me especially prone to my teenage ED. so honestly, this kind of trend scares me.
