Dress Codes Explained
I feel like I’ve created enough templates for your mind development, routines, habits, etc. I’m getting bored with putting out the same content in a different manner so now I’m going to start switching up my content. I’m going to focus more on how one can carry themselves, socialise, etc etc.
My first article under this segment “Cultural Education” here will be about dress codes. You will find this segment on my pinned post.
Culturally, dress codes differ from one another. The western world is generally more tolerant towards showing of skin, for instance; but if you were to attend formal events in Asia and the Middle East, I’d highly, highly recommend you opt for a more modest look.
This is a very brief breakdown on what a woman can wear and when.
Images are for examples only.
1. Casual
Meaning: low-key, but not like you just woke up.
* Sundress
* Long/ midi skirt
* Tailored pants or nice jeans (not ripped, distressed, acid wash- plain and simple)
* Tailored shorts
* Plain T-shirt (no graphics), polo t-shirt, turtleneck
* Button-down shirt
Tumblr media
2. Dressy
Meaning: no jeans, generally use of lighter colours
* Skirt (not bum short)
* Tailored trousers
* Dress
* Co ord sets
* Jumpsuits
* Sundresses
Tumblr media
3. Semi formal
Meaning: dressier than your corporate office job, but more casual than a formal gown.
* LBD (but not too little)
* Maxi skirt
* Cocktail dress
Tumblr media
4. Business
Meaning: what a typical office senior person would wear.
* Suit
* Dress (modest; at least knee length; not too short)
* Dress with a jacket
* Blazer and a skirt
* Stockings (optional in summer)
* 3-4 inch heels / loafers / flats
Tumblr media
5. Business casual
Meaning: what one would typically wear everyday to a corporate job that does NOT abide by Gen Z clothing (meaning slightly more conservative)
* Skirt, khakis, or pants
* Open-collar shirt, knit shirt or sweater (no spaghetti straps or décolleté)
* Dress (again, modest)
Tumblr media
6. Black tie
Meaning: formal evening events, generally after 6 pm.
* Formal (floor length) evening gown (avoid slits, too tight dresses)
* Dressy cocktail dress

A relatively new Toronto bar that received an influx of one-star reviews during its first few months in operation is now being accused of having homophobic and discriminatory policies.
[...]
"I went to a club last night in downtown Toronto called Isabelle's and they have a dress code or 'style guide' for men and for women, as if this is 1949," the user, who identifies himself as queer, says in the nearly 10-minute long video.
He details how after paying his $20 cover he was stopped by security and told that he needed to check his very small, single-compartment purse because men are not permitted to carry in bags.
[...]
"Instead of respecting me and being nice to me as a paying customer, I was treated like an inconvenient idiot because I had a tiny purse [when] I physically appear as a male," he continues, adding that the bar's style guide permits casualwear like sneakers and ball caps for men, but that purses are apparently "much too gay" for it.

The Confusion of dress codes
You know you have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms?
let me tell you a little something with the dress codes, it kinda violates this is you look at it a certain way "The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution- A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Think about it "bear arms" The upper arm includes the shoulder as well as the area between the shoulder and elbow joint. Think about it more, why couldnt I show my shoulder blade in middle school? What about my right to bare arms, lol. (That was a small joke, bear and bare have different meanings-)
Some more bullshi, i found this photo on google.

Im dead, these dress codes got me trippin. Dress codes are low-key greatly overexaggerated by school administrators and school officials, like there is no reason the dress codes should exist. Whos stupid idea was it anyway??????? Who made the dess code become a thing, what stupid idiots made the person that made the dress codes a thing, an idea???? 💀
Its a restriction on students self-identity honestly, it makes you unable to express yourself, restricts your right of freedom.
But im honest here, the high school im in doesnt really follow the dress codes. Well most of the teachers dont care, i believe my middle school was on top of it 24/7.
(o_o)
[(As a article says) ---But more recently, dress codes have come up as an equity issue after reports that Black students, girls, and LGBTQ students across the country are disproportionately affected by school dress codes. Some districts have imposed harsh punishments on those groups of students, including in- or out-of-school suspensions, for violations of dress codes. ]
honestly gimmie a list, ill name reasons why its a stupid bitc ah rule.
Dress codes specifically target clothes typically worn by woman and a few on guys which are only "cant wear sagging pants or muscle shirts" .. but i do have two questions for that. What if a GUY violates the dress code for girls? What if your trans, which way does the dress code turn? What if you have no gender, what then? What if you dont have any clothes besides clothes that violate the dress code, your basically making poeple spend money if thats the case. What if your insecure about the other clothes you have, what if your scared of not being "attractive"?
In middle school i used to enjoy wearing pj's to school, i felt cute and i personally love lounge clothes, it was then ruined by that dum ah dress code that doesnt make any sense. LIKE PLEASE HOW TO PJ'S DISTRACT, REVEAL ANYTHINGGGGGG. ITS JUST A CUTE FIT.

A Guide To Dress Codes (Women)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black tie, white tie; formal, semi-formal. Festive! Casual! Hitting the right note with attire can be confusing. Here are the details of how to dress appropriately for any occasion:
➪ CASUAL DRESS CODE: refers to clothing that is informal and comfortable, yet clean and professional. It’s best to go with nicer casual wear and avoid the baggier items you wear around the house.
Sundress
Long or short skirt
Khakis or nice jeans
Shorts (depending on occasion and climate)
Plain T-shirt (no slogans), polo shirt, turtleneck
Casual button-down blouse
➪ DRESSY CASUAL: A dressy casual dress code is a versatile balance between formal and casual. This is the ideal choice for networking (or socializing) after work, fundraisers, or dinner at a nice restaurant.
Dress
Skirt and dressy top
Dressy pants outfit
Nice jeans and dressy top
➪ SEMI FORMAL: A semi-formal dress code is best described as being more formal than what you would wear to an office, but slightly less formal than what you would wear to a formal event. Do keep in mind that if the event is later than 6 in the evening, you’ll want to err on the side of formality.
Short afternoon or cocktail dress
A “little black dress”
Long dressy skirt and top
Dressy separates
➪ BUSINESS FORMAL: A business formal dress code is characterized by a suit jacket with matching pants or a skirt. The darker the suit, the more formal. There are seasonal variations as well as matching accessories to personalize your look, but they should not be a distraction in any way.
Suit
Business-style dress
Dress with a jacket
Stockings (optional in summer)
Heels, low or high
➪ BUSINESS CASUAL: Casual business attire is pretty ambiguous, but generally means slacks, khakis, or a skirt with a dress shirt, blouse or polo. Dresses and seasonal sport coats fall into this dress code as well.
Skirt, khakis, or pants
Open-collar shirt, knit shirt or sweater (no spaghetti straps or décolleté)
Dress
➪ FORMAL, BLACK TIE AND BLACK TIE OPTIONAL: These events are among the most fancy of all dress codes, and you will likely be surrounded by a crowd full of tuxedos and floor-length gowns.
long, floor-length evening dress.
A very fancy dress that is not floor-length may also be appropriate.
Wear your hear in an elegant updo or partial updo
put on fancy jewelry for this occasion
I thought this would be helpful for whenever you're writing a planned event or even just for general knowledge. I'll post the dress code according to occasion for men next!
Thank you for all the follows and I'm glad the posts are useful! Do like, share and follow for more!

Co-owner Amethsyt here
Let's talk dress codes. Now for those unaware me and Fang are very alternative people. We wear excessive clothing (skirts, shorts, fishnets, ect). For 3 years I've dressed this way with no one paying me no mind
This morning, my principal stopped me and Fang on our way to first period cause we were out of the dress code. We were both wearing skirts that go right to my knees and fangs that go a little longer than mid-thigh, but she had tights on.
They proceeded to keep us in the office the entirety of first period.
You may be asking, we're we breaking the dress code? Well yes and no
My schools dress code says no skirts except for the first Monday of the month and that skirts must be to the mid thigh and tights are optional. We obliged to that but just not on the first Monday.
Here's the thing, I'm never gonna listen to the dress code cause my clothes aren't hurting anyone. My parts are covered and it's not offensive, that's all that matters when it comes to school appropriate clothes.
The dress code also prohibited open toed shoes but Where's the long line of kids in crocs, Pajamas are banned but where's the group of kids in Pjs?
And it's not like they're hiding either, Since for so long no one has done shit about the dress code,it's so easily broken by everyone in school. I could walk out and see three people breaking your dress code.
This dress code is more or less useless.
The most stupid part of this all is that basketball shorts are on the dress code but must be mid-thigh or longer.
IF MY SKIRT WAS SHORTS I'D BE FUCKING FINE!!
And I'm wearing safety shorts that go to my mid thigh, and according to their stupid dress code, they'd rather I walk around in the shorts then the skirt.
Everyone can see how stupid that is
And a lot of what's on the dress code is subjective. They ban excessive earrings, but what makes it excessive? The ban baggy pants but makes pangs baggy? Are bootcut pants baggy, flare leggings are baggy?
Ik people can agree that dress codes are stupid and are just here, so you can feel a false sense of control over a school that hates you

Quote
It is not proper to wear that incongruous garment known as the 'tea gown' in steamship company nor to appeal outside one's stateroom in anything but the tidiest of toilettes. The woman who comes to the steamship breakfast table in curl papers and a loose elbow sleeved dressing jacket--however becoming and costly the latter may be ....[is] not affording a demonstration of good taste, dignity or good manners.
Although this advice on clothing for steamship traveling dates to 1915, it did remind me of seeing the women who shambled downstairs to a breakfast buffet at a Best Western in Savannah, GA in their jammies the day after St. Patrick’s Day. How hard is it to put on clothes, I thought.
Notice that to Emily Holt who wrote Encyclopedia of Etiquette: A Book of Manners for Everyday Use, it did not matter if the dressing jacket looked wonderful or cost a fortune, the point was the place rather than the price. To her, informal clothing was saved for private, intimate places to be seen by loved ones, and public places where one saw strangers were for formal clothing.
She wrote a whole section on Travellers’ Dress and I will share some of the rules dished out to men soon.

Looks Masculinos do Oscar 2023: O Que Podemos Aprender Com Eles?
Looks Masculinos do Oscar 2023: O Que Podemos Aprender Com Eles? Este ano tivemos…

I got dress coded today
So, as the title reads, I got dress coded, in the first week of school too. And now I'm gonna complain about it.
So, last week I went to hot topic because i was trying to find a school skirt so I could wear it to school. At my school we have to wear uniforms but when I tell you every store I went to had NO uniforms, I mean we had to go an hour away just to find some, so my options were limited. But, anyways, I got one and I wore the next day with some rose tights on. And, I got in trouble that day because the tights but they didn't really say much about the skirt so I wore it today because I wanted to feel cute.
I got through my first period with it on and I was so scared I was going to get dress coded all day. Then my second block teacher sent me to the office because she didn't know if my skirt was appropriate or not. Some dude who sits in front of me said "Oooo you're getting in trouble for that skirt." And it made me feel so awful inside. They deemed my skirt not appropriate for school and made me change into some ugly, boot-cut, pants. I tried to ask if they would just let me wear it for the rest of the day but they said I could wear the pants or sit in ISS.
I cried so hard. I felt so awful. I just wanted to go home. That's where I am now though. But I still felt so embarrassed.
I am a BIG advocator for the fact that dress codes are sexist. I have written so many essays and papers on how and why it teaches young girls or afabs that if a boy objectifys them, then it's their fault. But, everytime I get dress coded, it's like it all goes out the window. I just feel ashamed. I feel like maybe it is my fault
Now, I don't dress too bad for my age (I'm 15) but I do tend to wear shorter skirts. I don't even mean to. That's just how my body makes them look. And I think I look cute. But, sometimes I feel so provocative. I feel so....wrong. I feel like no one will take me seriously because of the way I dress. That I'm just "Asking for it".
No one should have to feel this way. If the dudes at my school are able to walk in with NO SHIRTS on and their shorts being so tiny because of how tall they are, then why is my skirt being an inch above the knee such a big deal?
People will probably say that I'm being over dramatic; that I should just follow the dress code and It wouldn't be a problem. But, I'm not speaking for just me now. I'm speaking for 4th grade me who got sent to the office because I was wearing leggings and a shirt for picture day and they made me put a navy blue skirt over it. I'm speaking for the young girls who were told "Oh we don't want to distract the boys now do we?" because they were showing their shoulders. I'm speaking for all the girls who felt like maybe it was their fault, like how I do now.
This isn't me being dramatic. I am just angry that this is the world the future generations have to grow up in.
Okay Bye Bye

When I read that school boards make harsh rules and punishments for female students' dress codes because "it might distract the male staff" or something, I don't know which one is worse: that there's people working in schools who get "distracted" by teenage girls' clothes or that school boards could read this and think that the only wrong part is "teenage girls' clothes"
