It's very hard for me to find fanfics I love about Espresseleine because they're my favorite ship but under a very specific condition.
I want this ship to happen after both of them (especially Madeleine) have character growth
I want them to go Pride & Prejudice.
To have them not working great as a forced team for a while until they start to have some sort of attraction for each other but then their bad sides gets in the way and you get something like the confession under the rain scene and Espresso finally drops all the reasons he can't stand Madeleine and he leaves only to come find Espresso much later, after having done a lot to become his best self and maybe help the lower side of the republic to be heard why not. And Espresso could learn to be less snappy and sarcastic and to talk about the issues he has instead of dealing with everythig on his own.
I mean they're not 100% Darcy and Elisabeth by any mean, if at all, but you get the idea. I just want to see a progression for them as a team but also as individuals and the general idea of them bettering themselves for the happiness of the other.
Then, and only then, i'm happily shipping them.

ISN'T BITE ALSO TOUCH?
Tumblr media
fuckboy!leon x gn!reader (maybe a few gendered terms oops)
content: hurt/no comfort, angst, arguments, passive aggression, mentions of drugs/alcohol
Your best friend is a fuckboy. He ditches you at a party. You argue. Maybe they were right about him.
[ao3 link]
They all tried to tell you. Every single one of them.
He’s bad news, don’t bother. You would scoff.
He’s nothing but a walking penis. He doesn’t care about anything. And you’d roll your eyes.
Every red flag. Every warning sign. Every flashing light. You refused to heed any of them. And you tilled, and you sowed, and you fed. And now? You were reaping.
“I don’t get what the big deal is. You’re a big kid. You don’t need a damn babysitter.” His hands remained clenched, balled up and shoved into the pouch of his hoodie. His posture was lax. Noncommittal. He stared into a wall, his expression detached and unreachable.
“When you called me up tonight to drag me to some stupid frat party, I at least expected you to like, stay with me,” you countered. “We weren’t even there for an hour before you up and ditched me. Streaking across campus like a moron.” The base of your neck throbbed, the fledgling burn of an oncoming migraine. Your clothes still reeked of burnt weed and the cloyingly pungent whiff of cotton candy vape smoke.
“You should be fucking grateful. Wouldn’t have gotten into that party without me. Shit was the best thrasher of the month.” He lifted his head, scorching you with that know-it-all smirk. It huffed the coals of your stomach. You felt like puking.
“I didn’t…oh my god, Leon. I didn’t go for the party. I thought you…I don’t know. I thought you actually wanted to hang out. Have a good night.”
Your fingers burrowed their way through the folds of your sheets and you stayed perched at the edge of your bed. Leon hovered at your doorway, barely present in the space of your dorm, his contour fuzzed with casting light.
He didn’t say anything. Your eyes pulsed and stung. “Look. I’m not mad, I just–”
“You should be.”
“What?”
It’s then that he finally dared to meet your eyes. Blue hues swallowed whole by the pitch of his pupils, seeking you past tendrils of mussed, blonde hair.
“You should be mad. Why aren’t you? Cuz’, you’re right. I fucking ditched you. Like a moron.” He flung the word back with acid and you winced away. “God forbid I have some fun, right? Forgot you’re too much of a buzzkill to actually have fun at a party.”
There’s a throttling impulse to scream at him. Tell him off for being unreasonable and kick his ass to the curb like last week’s trash. But you’ve danced to this song before. The repeating pattern and pervasive enigma of Leon’s refusal to invest himself; emotionally, or otherwise.
So, you sucked in a steadying breath, filled your lungs with patience, and spoke softly.
“It’s not just about the party,” you began, and passively, you noticed him shift. “I mean…streaking? You realize that if you got caught doing that…you wouldn’t have a scholarship anymore. Hell, maybe you’d be expelled.”
The realization settled on him like a poison and you caught his face darken. As much as he denied and disguised, Leon was a smart man. Excellent standing in his classes and a whopping GPA to match the third leg he swung in his pants. It meant a lot to him.
There’s a gap of silence before he opened his mouth again.
“...well, I wasn’t caught. And it was my choice. I don’t need you nagging me like a fucking mom, alright?” His body shrunk in on itself. Caging his softer parts from the reality he narrowly avoided. On a better day, perhaps you’d chase him. Push and fight for a break in his shell, a crevice that gave way to the man you knew he was capable of being. But, God, your head was shattering. Your nausea was worsening. You weren’t making progress.
“Right, well, sorry for caring, Leon,” you relented, turning away from him to click your phone into its charger. “I’m going to bed. Don’t bother inviting me to any more parties.”
Your gaze left him, you weren’t fully aware of his body, but in the fleeting moments following your surrender he’s on you. Lurking above you like the baleful firmament of a roaring summer storm. You hardly had the time to open your mouth before he’s speaking. No, he’s growling. Revving the engine of his fury.
“...so that’s it? You’re not putting up with me anymore?” It could be the headache talking, but you swore you heard a tremble in his voice.
“Huh? The fuck are you–”
“We’re not friends anymore. That’s what you’re doing, right?” You searched the raging sea of his eyes for a raft. But all you did was drown. “I fucked up one too many times and now I’m just another shitty dude you had to put up with.” You watched the chipped black of his nails dig into his arms, tensed up limbs shielding him from what he’s most afraid you’ll confirm.
“Leon, that’s not…we’re still friends, okay? I just don’t want to go to parties like that anymore. Just give me a few days to cool off and we can…I dunno, we’ll hit up that burger joint you love.” It’s a pretty weak bargain, but maybe he’d bite.
And he did bite. He bit and he tore and he sought out blood.
“You’ve always had shitty taste in guys.” He practically spat at you, a scornful wrinkle deepening in the bridge of his nose. “Fucking stand up for yourself. You always let people walk all over you and act surprised when they turn out to be shitheads.”
He leaned in. You smelled him. Overpriced cologne. Underpriced shampoo. Crappy beer he drank even though he hated the taste. Despite it all, you yearned to hug him.
“Leon, I–”
“...and you know what? I don’t fucking need you. I don’t need your little dates. Your pity sex. I don’t need you looking out for my damn scholarships and I especially don’t need you making me look bad when I’m trying to let loose at the party I’ve been looking forward to all goddamn month.” You wanted him to stop. You wanted to bridge the chasm and devour his violence. If only he’d let you. But all he did was bite harder. “I won’t bother inviting you out anymore. Actually, I won’t bother talking to you at all. Have fun with your fucking life, I’m done being your fucking charity. Goodni–”
At the edge of his precipice, the void he dug for solace, Leon plummets. He straightened his spine, eyes widening and jaw hanging lifelessly. You were crying. Tears bursting without prejudice. Staining your face in vulnerability you so often only used to comfort him.
He went too far. And now, you were crying.
Neither of you moved for an eternity. From the hallway of your dorm, you hear the thundering trots of drunken friends laughing and yelling. The noise swelled and faded. The only evidence of a world beyond your room.
He called your name. His voice was so much quieter, held together with twine and stinging regret. You lifted your eyes and your throat barely allowed your words to pass.
“...Great job, Leon. Now I’m mad.” In an act of self-preservation, you tore your gaze away, burning a stare into the ground below his shoes. They’re blotched with dirt and chlorophyll, still damp from his midnight misdemeanor. “I won’t bother you anymore. If you hate me that much, I…I’ll leave you alone.”
His arms unfolded, one hand reaching out, a fragmented attempt to soothe you. But it was too late.
He repeated your name.
“I didn’t…fuck, I shouldn’t have said…hey–”
“Go home, Leon.” Your voice was unwavering, and he flinched back, your ire the open flame he’s too human to touch.
And then he left. Your dorm vibrated with the slam of the door, and you buried your face in your hands. In the place of his feet, soil stained your carpet. In the place of his warmth, sandalwood smoldered the air.
In the place of your love, all you wanted was to die.

i would care if you talked about luffy's issues please talk please tell me all your takes, genuinely (< anon who enjoys your takes)
I am so thankful you asked me this because Luffy is genuinely one of my favorite characters of all time, especially when it comes to shonen protagonists. I'm always saying I don't like shonens (says the one that watches a lot of shonens) but that's mainly because the main characters never feel... Well-written enough for me to like them. But, well, One Piece is different. With all characters, really. It's one of the first shonens I watch that I genuinely love and enjoy because of the characters (shout out to Mob Psycho 100 being one of my favorite animes of all time too because of that same reason).
Luffy is a very complex character and I think that's why he gets mischaracterized most of the time when it comes to the fandom. Some people make him too dumb. Others make him too childish. Others make him way darker and more depressed than he truly is. And I'd say that's weird, having in mind how much the show talks about Luffy and is focused on Luffy's POV, but I kind of understand because people aren't used to characters that are both optimistic and realistic at the same time. Most of the time people consider an optimistic character to be completely idealistic (a good example here is Uta. She is idealistic because she's been sheltered for so long and thinks something as complex as the corruption in the world can be solved with a few songs and love) and refuse to acknowledge the fact that somebody with hopes and dreams can also understand (first-hand, even) the suffering within the world. People like extremes. They like to make both Law and Zoro extremely edgy. They like to babify Sanji and Koby. They forget about Nami's character depth to make her only "the mean lesbian" of the group (that term makes me so fucking furious you don't even know). Etc. Etc. Etc. The thing is: Luffy has layers. His personality varies. He's optimistic. He's realistic. He's stupid. He's emotionally intelligent. He's impulsive. He cares about the safety of the people around him. He's careless. He feels guilt. He's confident. He's so damn insecure. He's playful. He's the most serious character too. Etc. Etc. Etc.
What I want to say with all of this is that Luffy, despite being always perceived as this childish, dumb, and careless character within the fandom, has so much depth and trauma he deals with every fucking day. I once saw somebody saying Luffy is "not smart enough to understand the feeling of sadness" and I started laughing because what the fuck does that even mean. And... Is that person watching the same thing as me? Because the guy has suffered the injustice of the world so many times and so many losses that I can't even count them.
Basically: People portray Luffy as if he hadn't gone through any type of trauma when OP has shown countless times that he has been through a lot. A fucking lot. Perhaps it's the fact that he's the one hiding it all the time in the show, always replacing sadness with the need to be stronger so he doesn't feel like that ever again (aka protecting everyone so he doesn't lose anybody again. And not even in a selfish way to not be alone, although we could say that he does feel like that to some extent. But because his loved ones do not deserve to disappear or die in those ways and he feels guilty whenever it happens because every time, he says it's because he wasn't strong enough to protect them) and that's why most people don't realize how much pain he has gone through. But that's not a very valid argument because we have a lot of arcs that prove it otherwise (Sabaody, Marineford, Film Red, Wano...). So, yeah, I guess people just don't know how to read.
Starting through chronological order, I want to talk about his abandonment issues and savior complex that always seem to go hand in hand.
Luffy doesn't like to be alone. He's a very empathetic and extroverted person. He doesn't like to be bored, always loving the company of somebody else. But, sadly, he has always been kind of alone? People come and go for him all the time, and you can't tell me that doesn't affect him psychologically. He's 7 when he meets Uta and Shanks and the kid has never been more excited! That's when his dream of being a pirate begins and it's the first time he has a friend. A real friend, not just random animals he manages to find or older people that sometimes take care of him. Luffy gets bored easily, so of course, Shanks and Uta, being something new, make his life brighter. With dreams and new experiences and hope for a newer, better life outside his village. And then Uta and Shanks have to go, of course, and he stays all alone again. From what we've seen, the only thing Luffy did when they weren't around was just... Waiting for them to come back to him. That's it. Luffy's joy basically comes from being with people, and especially when he's fixated on somebody in particular, he doesn't let them go. Then they come back... But Uta is not with them anymore. That's Luffy's first heartbreak, in my opinion. It's when he decides that he has to be stronger. He loved Uta so damn much. She meant the world to him. And suddenly she isn't there, giving him no time to say goodbye, and... He only has Shanks. But Shanks refuses to tell him the truth about what happened with her. So here you go! It's the first time Luffy loses somebody this dear to him and the first time Shanks betrays him enough for him to get angry at his hero. He ends up accepting it, of course, but not because he has moved on, but because both Uta and Shanks told him to be stronger. More mature. And he forces himself to grow up faster because he wants something. He wants to know where his friend is, and if Shanks refuses to tell him because he's just a kid, then he'll just have to grow up and become stronger. To become a pirate and to keep the promise he made with Uta. The movies aren't canon so I just keep thinking about Luffy wondering where Uta is, and it breaks my heart every time.
Then Ace and Sabo appear in his life and... They are literally everything to him. I like Garp. He did what he could do. Kind of. But he leaves Luffy on his own with Ace under the care of some bandits (Dadan we love you, queen). So he can't really blame Luffy for the way he turned out to be, honestly. The thing is: Ace and Sabo are, again, something new to Luffy. They are not just friends. They are his brothers, now. We don't talk enough about Luffy's maturity and respect for other people's dreams even when he's just a kid. Luffy literally was kidnapped and beaten up and he didn't dare to say a word about Ace and Sabo's treasure because he respected their dream. He's loyal and understands other people's feelings and hopes perfectly. His empathy and emotional intelligence are just perfect. Then, well, you all know the story, but these two become the most important thing in Luffy's life, not only because they are his brothers, but because they are the representation of their dreams and future. And then it crashes into a million fucking pieces because of Celestial Dragons and classism and rich people quite literally saying "We are burning down the poor because they don't deserve to live! Woohoo!". And it's Luffy's first time realizing that the world is unfair and fucked up and that there are people that believe to be superior to others, a thing that Luffy fights against all the time.
So, Luffy learns that the world is extremely fucked up at a very young age. He has first-hand contact with the abuse rich people inflict on others, in every way. He suffers from the torture that is fighting for your life in the world of pirating and thieves when he's not even a pirate yet. He's just a kid. What the fuck. And then he loses Sabo. His older brother literally is killed by a celestial dragon and he can't do anything about it. He can only cry, of course, he's just a kid. What is he going to do? So he decides to become stronger. Because he feels weak in the hands of what is the injustice of the world. He feels trapped by that injustice, in my opinion, and wanting to be stronger is just the path to freedom. Because freedom means being able to save the people he cares about.
And here's the thing: Luffy's need to become stronger always comes from the guilt he feels after losing somebody, blaming himself even though he literally could have done nothing at the time to save Uta or Sabo. He has a severe savior complex, not to feel better about himself (although you could say that it would certainly fix his fear of being weak) but to not lose anybody else. For some reason he always feels responsible for the faith of the people he loves, he's constantly putting others first and sacrificing himself and then feeling guilty and weak when he can't save them when it wasn't even in his hands to save them in the first place.
Kid Luffy goes through a ton of stuff in his early years and the fear of being alone... Of losing somebody he cares about... It haunts him. He sees Shanks and piracy as the meaning of freedom and strength. It's just that simple for him: If he becomes a pirate, he'll be strong. If he's strong, he'll be free. If he's free, he'll never lose anybody again.
And yet, even if he's confident he'll manage to do this... He's still a kid. He's still a little brother. Ace's little brother. He depends on Ace, too, because that's the one person he has left. Ace promises him he won't die because he's just as confident, and says this as if Luffy was stupid for thinking something could happen to him. Not to get too into Ace's character right now, but the fact that he's constantly wondering if he should be alive to then realize Luffy needs him to stay alive... Is so damn beautiful.
And then he literally dies in front of Luffy. Protecting Luffy. And Oh, boy if that doesn't kill him... But that comes after Sabaody! After losing literally all of his crew! God, stop hurting this guy already for fuck's sake-
Long story short, Luffy manages to get a family. Not a crew. A family. He's not alone anymore, and he proves constantly that he won't let any of them go or die on him the way it happened with Uta and Sabo.
Water 7 is... Rough for Luffy, to say the least. Because it's the first time he sees everything he has built crumbling down. Robin is taken by the Marines. Usopp wants to leave the crew because he doesn't feel like he fits in, even though Luffy knows he is perfect for the family (Usopp just can't believe him because, you know, insecurities suck). And he has to learn how to be a captain. A true captain. He has to make the harsh decision of fighting his best friend and letting him go (his worst fucking fear) at the age of 17 because he's the captain. He has to be mature. And strong. And he definitely doesn't feel like those now. Not when Robin is also on her way to be executed.
Usopp is leaving. Robin might die. And it's just like Uta and Sabo all over again.
So, basically, Luffy grows up too fast. He grows up too fast, with the fear of abandonment and being weak, and the weight of being the captain of a whole crew resting on his shoulders. Besides, he fights against the world government for Robin because he refuses to let her die thinking she doesn't deserve/want to live, and it reminds me a lot of Ace's story. Ace doesn't think he deserves to live but then stays because he realizes that Luffy loves him and needs him. Robin, thanks to Luffy, realizes that she wants to live and that she has a new family to fight for.
Nobody dies and Usopp comes back this time, so everything ends up turning out fine after all! Yay!
Then Sabaody happens and I swear my guy can't have a fucking break.
Who has suffered more, Jesus Christ or Monkey D. Luffy from Sabaody to Marineford? I think we already know the answer.
He loses all of his crew. All at once. His worst fucking fear. They vanish right in front of his eyes and he can't do anything. He feels weak. He's shattered. Completely broken. But he's optimistic, still, because he believes in his crew and he knows they'll find a way to be together again! They've ben through a lot together, and they can find each other in a few days in Sabaody again. It's fine. But he has to delay it, of course, because his other biggest fucking fear is happening right now: Ace might die. His older brother might die.
So if you mix the trauma that caused him to have abandonment issues and a savior complex with the fact that Ace is the only sibling he has left and he is completely alone because his crew isn't by his side anymore... You get the most heartbreaking arc of the show! Awesome.
He does everything he can to save Ace. Ace complains about it, begging him to stay away from danger. And he refuses because he's his brother. He has to fight for him. And he does. And Ace dies anyway. Ace dies protecting him, too, and the hope that was left within him dies completely at that moment. Everything is shattered. His whole world is crumbling down. And I think that Luffy dies too at that moment.
For Luffy, losing Ace is not like losing a limb. Losing Ace is losing his everything. Ace meant the world to him. He was the representation of their dreams and hopes and past and future. He was the only person who knew Sabo like the back of his hand, too. And now Luffy is the only one carrying their souls. All alone.
That's probably Luffy's rock bottom. He doesn't think he deserves to be a pirate (or alive, either, but I don't want to get too deep into his suicidal thoughts I definitely think are a real thing because then this becomes too dark. But yeah. I think he does think about that too). He doesn't think he's strong enough. And he's completely broken.
There's this line from Fleabag that I absolutely adore: "I don't know what to do with it." / "With what?" / "With all the love I have for her. I don't know where to put it now."
Because Ace is gone. He's completely gone. And all the love Luffy has for him turns into grief and he doesn't know what to do anymore if Ace's soul isn't in the world to look after him. He doesn't know what to do if all the love and feelings he has for his brother go to waste. And it's his fault. Because he wasn't strong enough to protect him. Because he wasn't able to protect himself, Ace having to sacrifice himself for him. (And we know he feels guilty about this because he tells Sabo the second they meet again. He apologizes for not protecting Ace. He feels guilty about what happened still. And Sabo is just glad Luffy is okay because he knows his brothers too well to know already what happened).
Then our beloved Jinbe comes along (I love you. Please adopt me) and, following that quote of Fleabag: "I'll take it. No, I'm serious. It sounds lovely. I'll have it. You have to give it to me." / "Okay." / "It's got to go somewhere."
Jinbe reminds Luffy that he still has his crew. That he still has people who need him alive. People that love him and care for him. That he can't be weak if he has helped so many people already. That they're willing to take both the love and pain Ace makes him feel. And it's such a great character development for Luffy... It makes me go insane. He remembers his crew one by one and realizes that he's not alone anymore. That he has to be stronger for them and for Ace. And for Uta. And Sabo. Jinbe is there with him when the others couldn't, and it has nothing to do with Luffy's issues but I just want to mention how much I love Jinbe for this.
But he still feels the need to be stronger and the fear of losing his crew and the people he loves still haunts him. He tells the straw hats to meet after 2 years (that's a long fucking time. Like. Longer than the time they've spent together. Imagine the loyalty, damn). And it's... It's so beautifully written. The 3D2Y scene is one of my favorites because it shows the loyalty and love they have for each other, and how Luffy is willing to become stronger for the people he loves and the ones he has lost along the way. I literally have the tattoo. I am obsessed with the whole concept.
As I said, Luffy's abandonment issues and the fact that he wants to become stronger to never lose anybody again (Savior complex much?) still remain even after his character development. Because that's not something you get rid of. That's just how he is. And I think that, as long as he is with the straw hats, it won't be a problem.
Also I wanted to mention his reunion with Sabo! The guilt he feels for losing Ace? The way he clings onto his older brother as if they were going to take Sabo away from him? They're extremely codependent and I am here for it, honestly. Sabo would die for Luffy and Luffy would kill him if he did that. Also, I don't know where the fuck Sabo is now because I'm only watching Wano but I swear to God if something happens to him I will murder somebody with my bare hands. :)
Oh! And then it comes my favorite arc of all the show: Whole Cake Island (to the surprise of literally no one!). Luffy, in the beginning, is extremely optimistic when it comes to rescuing Sanji. He's simple like that. "If he doesn't want to get married, we rescue him. If he wants to get married, he just brings his wife with us!". And if Sanji didn't want to come back to them (truly not wanting to) he would accept it. But Sanji wants to. Luffy knows Sanji wants to go back to the Sunny with them. He knows Sanji isn't being true to himself. And God, he's desperate. Because Sanji is stubborn and his self-sacrificing and deprecating thoughts are even stronger than Luffy's, and he won't give up until Luffy lets him go. But Luffy doesn't want to fight him, he just wants his cook back. Because he knows that, no matter how much harm he does to him, Sanji is only doing it to himself (one of my favorite quotes from OP). So, Luffy goes again through the desperation of not losing a crewmate, but losing one of his wings. Without Sanji, Luffy can't become the king of the pirates. He's willing to die from starvation for him. Are you- Are you all aware that he almost fucking dies from starvation? I don't think we talk about that enough because what the actual fuck. There's this thing they tell Luffy (I don't remember exactly when or the exact phrasing) about him wanting Sanji back out of selfishness and not because of Sanji's well-being and... I partially agree? Don't get me wrong, Luffy does everything here for Sanji because he knows Sanji is suffering and lying to himself. But Luffy is selfish, too. Luffy doesn't want Sanji to go away because he loves him. That's his cook. He doesn't want to lose anybody else, even less knowing that they're going to be unhappy. That's kind of for me the confirmation of Luffy's abandonment issues. Like- He does everything for his crew, of course, but he's so scared of losing them. Then Sanji comes back to them, of course, and they have their own Pride and Prejudice moment. Not even Jane Austen can write shit like this.
I kind of want to talk about Wano but I haven't finished it yet (I'm like, on episode 1056) but I would like to mention how beautiful it is for Luffy to carry Ace's soul and promises like that. And also the responsibility he carries during the whole arc to save Wano? That's so- It's so fucked up. He's such a good leader and captain and everything I said in this post and all the things he does in Wano show that he will become the king of the pirates. I love him so damn much. I can't even write it down properly.
Anyway, summarizing everything: Luffy has a lot of abandonment issues and a savior complex that becomes unhealthy to the point of sacrificing himself and always carrying the burdens of everyone else. Because he fears he might lose his loved ones if he isn't strong enough. So. You know. It would be great if people stopped saying he's just childish and fun and that he doesn't have any character depth because he's probably the most complex shonen protagonist I've ever seen! He has suffered so damn much it hurts! Live Laugh Love Luffy! <3

Baki Character HCs
Okay, let's try to do a thing and see where it goes. Includes: Jack, Baki, Katsumi, Hanayama, Retsu, Kosho, Kureha, Doppo, Shibukawa
Baki:
He struggles with his school work. He's going to be graduating soon, but this boy absolutely prioritized fighting over his school, and while everyone in school knows that he's struggling, nobody in the arena itself knows.
Once found Musashi (his dog) absolutely tearing apart a dog toy and had no idea how to react because that dog has been so chill for the entire time that Baki has known him.
Did NOT know how to do laundry at all for a long while, so he wound up shrinking a weeks worth of his clothes, then wound up panic buying clothes that were definitely too big for him. He shrank those too, but it worked out better for him when that happened.
Definitely the kind of guy to ask Kozue what size pussy she has the first time she asked him to make an emergency run to the store for tampons/pads, and she wound up snort-laughing while on the phone with him so hard that she dislodged a clot.
Doesn't know how to interact with Jack. Yeah, he calls him his brother, he knows that Jack is his brother, but it really took him some time to process "yeah, that's my big brother, he exists, I'm not alone out here with only dad" so for the first few times he interacts with Jack he's super awkward about it.
Definitely has never had any (proper) older familial figures in his life like uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. so now that he's got a vague familial system with the fighters in the underground ring he's absolutely accidentally called people by familial terms, like the time he zoned out and accidentally called Doppo his uncle. (Katsumi does not let him live this down.
Hanayama:
Hanayama has entirely given up on any form of education, but he's not stupid by any means. Does he have trouble with math? A little bit. Would anyone ever figure that out? Absolutely not. Put this man in front of a map though and he's on it. He knows obscure locations like the back of his hand.
He really likes his nice suits, but if he needs to tear them off so he can beat ass, then he will. That being said, he's outright refuses to ruin the suits that his mother either complimented or chose for him.
Still makes rose perfume for her and brings it to her grave. He loved his mom a LOT. If anyone knows about this, they don't say anything about it.
Very much a cat guy. Not in the sense that he likes cats, per-se, but more in the sense that cats just find and approach him at random. They like him. They do not leave him alone. Someone send help this man doesn't know how to handle the sheer amount of strays that approach him.
Doesn't travel abroad very often, but he has gone out of the country once or twice to Korea for "business" and he was so boring about it. The gang were all having fun and enjoying themselves, but Hanayama was just sorta existing as usual.
Has a very strained relationship with bugs. Yeah, sure, Baki is his buddy, and he's learned a lot from bugs, but Hanayama thinks they're dirty, and he really doesn't like them in HIS space. They can exist just fine on their own, but the SECOND they step into his own home it's on sight.
Jack:
He's dumb but in a smart way. He absolutely did NOT try in school, man dropped out as soon as he was able to, but he did shockingly well. He wasn't a straight A student by any means, but he was damn well close, all without actively applying himself to whatever he was learning. He was the quiet kid that people kept their distance from.
His mother was very distant with him, and he spent his first few years in the foster care system, so while he he may sometimes want to be nicer or softer to people around him, he doesn't really know how. If emotionally stunted was a person, this man would be it. Most he knows he can do is just objectively compliment someone.
This man needs it to be arctic when he sleeps, otherwise he gets way too warm. He just can't handle it. This man absolutely radiates heat most of the time. He also needs to shave a LOT, this man grows beards extremely fast. If he doesn't shave every other day he starts getting some intense scruff going on, but he doesn't like facial hair on himself, so he just keeps himself shaved clean.
He once ran into Kozue after the Maximum Tournament. That's his little brother's girlfriend, so he did try to be as non-threatening as possible, but it's Jack, this man looked like he'd been chewed up by a meat grinder, and was, for whatever reason, a lot taller??? He just wound up nodding at her and kept going on about his day. He absolutely has no idea how scared Kozue was for a moment there.
The culture shock absolutely was NOT kind to him. Man went from a rural town in Canada to a big city in Japan. Definitely hit his head off of door frames a lot in the beginning, but he's (mostly) gotten more used to things now.
He does care about Baki, in his own strange, emotionally stunted way. He's very confident in his younger brother's abilities, and whenever he hears about Baki doing something maybe a little bit outrageous, he's entirely confident that Baki will absolutely master it, somehow.
This man is polite. He doesn't feel the need to trash-talk or be rude to opponents, he does truly appreciate every opportunity he gets to learn and get stronger, especially considering how hard of a time he had getting to this point in the first place.
Katsumi:
He was a karate prodigy, which automatically made him one of the coolest kids in his school. He was very clever too, if he didn't know something, then he would find out soon, if only because he asked someone else to teach him how.
He bonded with Natsue almost immediately after his adoption, but it took him a while to warm up to Doppo. His favourite memory with his dad is when they once caught a baseball game together at the very Tokyo dome he wound up losing his arm in.
He has his students, then he has his homies. The homies are sacred to this man, if his friends don't like someone, he'll trust their judgement on that one, and is incredibly reluctant to let someone in once he knows that His Boys (tm) don't approve.
He has a love-hate relationship with spiders. On one hand: mosquitos are annoying, and he can't stand hearing his dad occasionally wake up to slap tf out of one in the middle of the night whenever he stays over, but he doesn't like them being near him, especially the big ones.
Probably helps whatever elderly person he meets that he thinks is struggling with something, he's got such Good Boy energy that he can't help himself.
Kosho:
This man was an ANGEL as a child. He didn't do as well as his brother, but he absolutely had a reputation with the teachers as a sweet little angel. He did okay in school, but nothing really special. He did do really well in martial arts though, and that's far more important in this world.
He absolutely has a religious self-care routine at night for his hair because he's absolutely jealous of his brother's hair. He's wanted to be better than his brother in some way shape or form, and while he did surpass his brother during the Maximum Tournament, the habit persisted until well after though.
He absolutely learned his lesson from fighting Doyle, though he won't necessarily admit it. He's always a lot more reluctant to get into fights with more sly individuals because last time he did, he got blown up.
Absolutely teases his brother about him being so close with Jack. A lot of "so, how is your boyfriend?" and "does your boy toy want to come visit mom and dad?" but he's never said it to Jack's face, since the amount of times that the two have been close enough to interact can be counted on a single hand.
He's a very quiet person, in the literal sense where he doesn't make a lot of noise when he walks or moves, but he also just doesn't really talk a lot. He's not super chatty, but you get him talking about his techniques and whatnot and he will NOT stop talking.
Cannot stand having dirt under his nails. Those are his main weapons, and he takes good care of them. He wants to fight, yes, but he doesn't want to take out his opponents permanently because of something as silly as an infection.
Kureha:
He was the perfect student all throughout his schooling, his teachers loved him, he was very inquisitive, always asking questions and whatnot. His classmates all loved him, they thought he was super cool because he was seen as a genius even back in his childhood. But a few kids saw through the perfect mask he puts on and saw the little sicko that he is (we love him for it).
He absolutely has made people question their sexualities before, just by them looking at him. He's pretty, and he knows it,. Which is why he always claims that it's effortless beauty. His skin is just naturally that clear, his hair is naturally that shiny. Of course, all of the beauty products he uses are natural and if anyone touches them they'd better be prepared to pay a whole mortgage because oh boy, they don't come cheap.
He hates feeling like he doesn't know something, so whenever he finds himself wanting to learn something, he'll do his own research beforehand, then he'll go into beginner classes and feel proud that he already knows something.
He cannot STAND Yujiro. Their personalities are just similar enough that Yujiro grates on his nerves just in the right way that every time he hears about him, he gets an annoyed tick to his eyebrow. He plays it off as having drunk too much coffee, but he doesn't ever drink too much coffee.
This man has so many pillows on his bed. And they're everywhere, he wakes up and it looks like his bed was in a warzone, pillows and blankets everywhere, sometimes he wakes up half hanging off his bed.
Retsu:
He didn't really do much school since he was raised in a monastery, but if he did, then he'd absolutely be a straight A student. He's a fast learner, he picks things up very quickly.
He knows that he's a good cook, but if anyone points it out to him he gets flustered. He knows he likes his own food, but other people liking it? That's one of the highest compliments he can receive.
He had a troubled past, but his future is hella bright, this man has made so many friends completely by accident, he never expected that his name would carry so much weight, though he's reluctant to throw that around.
He's incredibly neat and tidy, though that comes easier with a more minimalistic lifestyle. Oddly enough, he and Jack are both the cleanest of the entire regular group, both having incredibly minimalist lifestyles, not that they know about each-others habits.
He's well aware that Baki and Katsumi are young geniuses, but when it comes to Jack, he often forgets that this man is the same age as Katsumi. He often forgets how old everyone is beyond "this person is around this age, this person is around this age". He very much was raised to respect his elders, and he absolutely does.
He doesn't need hair care, all of that comes naturally for him. He just puts it up in a braid and forgets about it, but it's so thick and healthy that it's genuinely astounding and it always succeeds in making at least some people jealous.
He's weak to a good old beach day. He can't help it, Katsumi took him to the beach with the gang once and he fell in love with it.
Doppo:
He was somewhat a troublemaker in school, but he did get good grades. He was a charmer, this man is incredibly charismatic. By the time he got to high school he had a reputation, but it wasn't a bad one at all. He's treated all of his past girlfriends really well, and that's partially why Natsue even gave him a chance.
He didn't ever really want kids, but he found that he was far more open to raising Katsumi than he thought he'd be. He's absolutely calmed down a little bit since he became a father.
He has a macaroni drawing that Katsumi made for him in his desk at home, sometimes Natsue finds him staring at it whenever Katsumi does something that has proven how much he's grown.
He definitely appreciates that Baki respects him so much, he knows that Yujiro can be a shit and he's not going to complain about being respected as a senior fighter and a form of authority.
He spoils Natsue rotten for their anniversary. Fancy dinners, extravagant gifts, drowning her in attention and affection. He's her Superman, and he's going to damn well act like it.
He very much loves his little meet-ups with Shibukawa, it's a habit that they've gotten into, and both of them appreciate having a "fellow old man" to sit and chat with about their world.
Shibukawa:
This man was a PROBLEM CHILD when he was younger. He would pick fights, start drama, the whole nine yards. This man grew up disrespectful and cocky until the first time he properly got his ass kicked, and that was a huge personality shift for him. He's still cocky, of course, but that's more because he has the skills to back it up now.
Give him the chance to knock some overly confident youngster down a few pegs, and he'll absolutely take it. He's done it to Oliva, he's done it to a few of the fighters in the Maximum tournament, he'll do it again and he won't deny it.
He enjoys playing an old fool, it makes it all the more satisfying when his opponents underestimate him and he can kick their asses into stunned submission. That being said, he also appreciates the benefits of the younger fighters automatically treating him with respect. He loves that he can still hand Baki his glasses while he whoops ass, and that Baki will still hold them without even thinking about it.
He's welcome at the Orochi home, Doppo has invited him over quite a few times, and it's common enough where Katsumi can expect him to be there most times that he visits his parents.
He's been to quite a few places, his renown as an Aiki master has gotten him places that he couldn't have even dreamed of when he was younger, causing fights behind the school.
He has a massive tank in his home with a some really brightly coloured fish, like guppies, but there's also a betta fish in there. His name is Mushu, that's his prized fish.

PAC: DETAILS ABOUT YOUR WEDDING
Tumblr media
These are general readings meant for entertainment purposes. You can partake in advice, but do not let it cloud your decision-making.
I do take paid readings. You can contact me for them. Make sure you have either Paypal or Gpay! DM for the price list!
(IMAGES ARE TAKEN FROM PINTEREST)
Tumblr media
Pile 1:
Your marriage will take about 2-5 years. You may be older than your person by a year or so. Or at least emotionally more mature than your person. This person is impulsive, reckless and kind of reminds me of Lucifer from the show Lucifer. The absolute best person to know but they require someone with a lot of patience. This person can come up with stupid ideas but sometimes, these stupid ideas pay off really well. There is someone in this person's family who would not approve of this union.
You guys are likely to have a destination wedding. The wedding may take place closer to this person's birthplace. So, there is a chance that this person may be located far away from you. It's like a garden party with mountains in the backdrop and an evening wedding. You guys may love releasing lanterns on your wedding day.
You and your person will spend a lot of money on your wedding. It is a lavish and secluded event with your loved ones. It has a very magical and calm vibe. A song is coming through for you guys: Magic Hour. The wedding will be like what this song makes you feel. The song kind of puts you at peace and fills you with gratitude. The song has an enchanted feeling to it.
Overall, a drama-free wedding. This person does not have an extended family. Your guest list is limited. You have spent more on making the event comfortable than accommodating too many people to make it look like a big, fat wedding. There may be expectations of rain. If you guys are planning an outdoor wedding, it may rain. That's the only downer, however, it will not delay the wedding for too long.
With pomegranates showing up, your wedding night is going to be very fertile. If you guys aren't planning to become a family of three, wrap it up. Your intuition will be pricking all day at your neck. Not in a trying to warn you about something bad is about to happen way but in a spiritually and emotionally balanced way.
Channelled song: Magic Hour by Jhene AikoThe energy coming off the pile: German Shepherd (Smart but confused still dangerous😂😂)
Tumblr media
Pile 2:
Winter- Spring time is relevant for you. For this pile, there was this immediate message that popped up: it's coming in fast. If you asked a question before this reading, that's the answer. This is going to be a soulmate union. The ultimate card of union popped up for you guys so you can expect a lot of crying on your wedding day.
Speaking of weddings, you seem to be uneasy about this big day. You feel incomplete because of some reason and you are unable to shake the feeling. This is either related to a past person or a guest who is not able to make it to your wedding. Here are some possible scenarios that are coming through. One is that a friend of yours confesses their feelings for you and you decide to cut them out of the wedding. You are sad about their absence but you know it's for the best.
Otherwise, it feels like you are hung over things that could have been. You feel incomplete because you are living with regret which is interfering with your happiness. For a very short amount of you, this may be an arranged marriage that you are not at all sure about but you are going through.
Another scenario that is coming through is that you have broken up with a long-term partner and you are hung up over them. And you blankly agree to a marriage with the new person. You know that this person is good for you but you are heartbroken. Take your time, your person will be patient with you. Do not marry a person you are not sure about. Even though the cards show it will be okay: NO! Say yes only if you know what you are doing, otherwise hold back. You have all the time in the world.
Your person is very stubborn and very communicative. This person does not fuck around about their feelings. If they want you to know shit, you will. On this day, you will be offered a choice. Either live in the past or move on with your life. It may seem very ominous but your future with their person is very fulfilling.
Channelled song: Butterfly Fly Away by Miley Cyrus The energy coming off the pile: Husky
Tumblr media
Pile 3:
Very traditional wedding for this pile. You guys or at least your partner may be a stickler for traditions. The timing of our wedding is not at all clear as compared to the other piles. Either you are not supposed to know the answer or it is dependent on you. I incline that you have to work on your inner child's fears and traumas before you can manifest a good relationship in your life.
Marriage is a piece of paper. No seriously. I am not trying to be a dick but marriage will not fix shit. If your relationship sucks, it will be nice for two months but it will not fix any underlying issue. You are someone who struggles to think practically and emotionally. There is a disbalance between the two all the time. That's why you struggle with emotions a lot of the time.
You need a partner, not an adult baby. You have a very happy marriage written in the cards. But you need to deliberate on what you want from your wedding. I know this wedding was supposed to detail stuff about your wedding, but this came through.
The person you choose is going to be a bit older than you. Dark hair, and grey eyes for the men. They are likely to have curly hair. Very mischievous features. For women, you can expect petite features, crazy but in a good way personality, and loves art. Small hands, a cute but big smile and a triangle face.
You are going to be receiving a lavish amount of gifts from your guests. It's a river of gold flowing kind of feeling. Your person is going to let you take the centre stage. They rather that you take the attention. They are more introverted than you.
Channelled song: Highs And Lows by Dagny
The energy coming off the pile: Husky (happy, loud and chaotic as fuck)

My thoughts on certain val ships
(if you disagree w/ my takes thats swag nd i respect that)
Galaxsea (Astra x Harbour)
I honestly don’t have to many thoughts abt these two
they’re just cute and I love them
they’re both massive nerds and no one can convince me otherwise
they 100% braid each others hair
Reyge (Reyna x Sage)
I love them so much
They’re both so mother
Sage wakes up obnoxiously early (doctor things) and Reyna complains and drags her back into bed
Sage makes little trinkets out of jade (the stuff her powers use?? is it jade?? idk just roll with it) and gives them to Reyna
Reyna singing spanish folk songs to help Sage fall asleep
Reyna will whisper some raunchier comments in Sages ear just to watch Sage get flustered
Cyberowl (Cypher x Sova)
Cypher forces Sova to take breaks when he overworks himself (which is often)
They passive aggressively flirt with each other
Both of them are emotionally constipated
Cypher once called Sova beautiful and Sova could not think straight the rest of the day
Sova sleeps like the dead so Cypher will often wake up with random limbs in his face or Sova just lying on top of him
Viper x Chamber (i actually have no idea what their ship name is someone pls lmk)
Viper hooking up with Chamber claiming it’s “something to take the edge off” before falling hard
Chamber does something stupid and Viper just watches and realises she’s in love with a dumbass
Viper being in love with Chamber and being very unhappy about it
Chamber likes to buy Viper fancy gifts and Viper has no idea how to respond
Fadeshock (Fade x Neon)
Them both bonding over being afraid of their powers
Sleepy girlfriends
When Fade stands up Neon pokes in the side and gives her a tiny electric shock
Neon is besties w/ Fades prowlers
Neon once made dinner for her and Fade and Fade was so close to proposing after eating it
Fade wraps herself around Neon in her sleep
Nanobomb (Killjoy x Raze)
They both sing along German rock music in KJs lab
KJ once pressed her alarm bot to boombot and said they were kissing
Raze had never been more in love
They’re both really smart but so so dumb
They binge watch soaps together
Raze made a version of boombot that doesn’t explode and just wonders around base
KJ calls it their child

"You led me into temptation, and I followed."
"If everybody lies, then trust is not only unfounded and pointless, it's fictional."
"Did you sedate my mother?"
"There's nothing worse than loving someone who's never going to stop disappointing you."
"You know, you turned out remarkably close to normal, considering the genes in play."
"I am not giving you advice just so you can distort it to suit your own warped world view!"
"You're really not good with nuance, are you?"
"If you're going to dress like an Italian hooker, at least let it be this year's Italian hooker."
"If you didn't want to be insulted, you wouldn't have invited me."
"If you're emotionally invested, you cannot make rational decisions."
"You lied to me and betrayed me. Do you think I really care what you consider a good idea anymore?"
"You know, I've got to tell you, there is bossy - which can be sexy - and then there's bitchy."
"Can I ask you a question? Are you insane or just stupid?"
"Haven't you ever done something in a relationship you wish you could take back?"
"I used to think the whole brooding thing was just part of your work persona, but now I know you need to lighten up."
"If I had to choose between saving everyone, and loving you and being happy, I would choose you. I choose being happy with you."
"You choose yourself over everybody else over and over again, because that's just who you are."
"So, you don't want to just avoid the issue? You want to avoid avoiding the issue?"
"When things go wrong, I don't want to hope that I'm not alone."
"Why don't you move back in with me? At least until you get back on track."
"What an ego. You think you're some sort of emotional paragon? You're my rock?"

Some Tipping Point Thoughts about Crosshair (mostly):
1. There is a small part of me that is a little suspicious that Crosshair was allowed to partially escape on purpose, buuuuuut Emerie wasn’t the one who put that blaster within Crosshair’s reach, and she looked genuinely frightened when she realized that Crosshair really was going to stun her. It was one of the stormtroopers who put that blaster there, and, yes, it was a stupid move, but no one ever accused stormtroopers of being smart.
2. “Pushed to the limits of his extreme in the most heartbreaking way,” didn’t just apply to “The Outpost,” I see.
3. Speaking of blasters, these early stormtrooper blasters are the cheapest looking blasters I’ve ever seen in a star war—and I mean that as a compliment to the show. Those things look and feel like something that would be mass produced without much concern for quality or durability, which is exactly the Empire’s approach to the stormtroopers themselves.
4. Sooooo…this might sound counterintuitive, but this episode really put the final kibosh in any lingering worries I had that they’re killing Crosshair this season. You don’t do something like this (gestures broadly at Crosshair’s whole thing) and then kill them off. Especially not in some kind of redemptive self-sacrificial death. Especially when what we watched him do in this episode is so pointedly self-sacrificial. Crosshair might try to die for his family in the next two episodes, but there’s no way the narrative is going to let that happen. There’s no way to kill him off right now that isn’t empty, no way to have him die for anyone that doesn’t make the other person look careless by comparison (if only because viewers react to stories emotionally as much as they do otherwise), and no way to end his story in a way that isn’t just an ocean of untouched possibilities. The writers are sitting on a narrative gold mine with this character and I think they know that, otherwise they could have just let him die on that platform. And I’m stoked, because this means that we’re going to get to watch these characters deal with the difficult mess that’s going to be rebuilding their relationships.
5. Crosshair loves his family SO DAMN MUCH.
6. Evil thought: What if the batch gets to him, and he doesn’t realize they’re really there at first? I mean…he’s going to live, and he’s not getting brainwashed, but he is almost definitely going to be in a lot of pain and potentially pretty disoriented. I could see him taking a few minutes to realize that they’re really there and they finally came for him (but OH NO they weren’t supposed to come for him this time WHAT ARE THEY DOING THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HIDE).
7. Eviler thought: Man, I really hope Dr. Hemlock doesn’t clock the fact that Crosshair will take any and all abuse that’s thrown at him without complaint but will absolutely lose his shit if that same abuse is thrown at another clone.
8. The look on Crosshair’s face when Omega says, “You’re still their brother, Crosshair. You’re my brother too,” back in Kamino Lost is going to kill me ten times over after this episode.
9. I’m looking forward to the absolute murder we’ll get to see in Echo’s eyes once he sees what Hemlock’s been doing.
10. You know…I’m not sure Crosshair couldn’t have made it outside if he hadn’t stopped to send that warning—if sending the warning wasn’t his only goal in the first place. He could barely stand up straight and he still went through about eight people like they were tissue paper.
11. I don’t know what is up with Emerie besides definitely something, but I sort of like the idea that Crosshair stunned her instead of killing her because he maybe got the sense that she’s a prisoner, too.
12. You know, there sure are a lot of clones in Mount Tantiss. In the cells, being commandos. Sure would be a shame for Hemlock if they all revolted at the same time somehow (I feel like this is wishful thinking, but I can dream).

TBB Boys as Desserts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This has been something I’ve been wanting to do for over a week now, but I’m just now getting around to it. This idea was made by the prompts of the @renegade-force-99 team and our discord. I absolutely took this way too seriously, but here we are, and I regret mostly nothing.
Enjoy our sweet boys and my headcanons for them, and why they match with certain deserts!
Tumblr media
Crosshair is a macaroon.
The process of making a macaroon is of high difficulty, at least from my understanding and experience, and I feel like Crosshair, as a person, is just as high difficulty. They are very particular, and require the exact right type of environment in order to ‘come out right’, or in Crosshair’s case, function healthily.
They are stubborn, particular, and time-consuming. They have a hard exterior, but a very soft interior. Despite all of the hardness and difficulty, they are worth every second of effort and time, and deserve to be cherished - they are highly sought after, and considered a delicacy, just like our sniper.
Echo is gelato.
Gelato has some different ingredients than ‘reg’ ice cream - there are some extra steps, or pieces, that exist in Echo, and in gelato, that regular clones and regular ice cream don’t have. Gelato, and Echo, both need to go at a slower pace in order for them to efficiently function. You can’t push or rush them, otherwise, that can spoil it. They need time to warm up, cool down, and it’s better if you let them take their time.
It is a very healthy option, and I feel like Echo is one of our most healthy boys, emotionally and physically. It is dense, as well - as for how this translates into our boy, it doesn’t mean stupid - I’ve taken it to mean more ‘info dense’ because that boy can recite whole reg manuals off the top of his head.
Gelato, and Echo, tend to be more intense than regs as well, but they are still an easy go-to, as well as a comfort item for plenty of people. Repetition (or ‘echoing’ a process) is important to them as well since there is a specific way of going about things.
Hunter is red velvet cake.
A lot of this is just based on vibes. This man screams ‘red velvet’ to me. Like all cakes and most clones, they are good with kids and are a good, easy option to interact with. Hunter and red velvet both are easily loveable, and aesthetically pleasing, as well as a classic to gravitate to. I consider them a leader in the cake world and clone world. They are ahead of the game, and setting out a strong example for others to follow.
At its roots, it is technically ‘regular’, but it’s made to look different - for red velvet, it is simply for the sake of being pretty, but in Hunter’s case, he looks the most like other clones, and while being almost exactly the same as the base, he had to find a way to stand out (i.e, long hair), and be different while still ‘being basic’, while also not being basic at all. It’s special.
Tech is cheesecake.
One word: pie. Cheesecake isn’t technically a pie, but it’s also not technically a cake - it’s a funky middle ground that I think works well with Tech, as well as the joke of him being smart and having the name of a mathematical number. In my experience, cheesecake people are always vehement that they are right, and cannot be disproven. Remind you of anyone?
It is straightforward but quirky. They could be left as a base, or add toppings for more flair - in cheesecake, this could be strawberries, but in Tech, it’s his adaptability, ability to work in most situations, and plenty of variety in personality.
They are multifaceted. They are also much more sturdy than they appear to be. (Example: if they fall from a tall height, they are perfectly fine, even if the composition may be a bit broken, they made it, and are still function as a dessert, or a human.) They are also a fan favorite.
Wrecker is cookies.
Unlike Crosshair, Wrecker’s difficulty setting is on easy. How can you look at a cookie, and not enjoy it? It brings you joy, plain and simple. They are straightforward - no lies, complications, or anything difficult here. They are classic, enjoyed by almost everyone, and how you enjoy them depends entirely on how you treat them - they can be hard or soft, depending upon your attitude and approach.
Cookies are easy to cook, which also makes them a good contender to be good with kiddos, just like Wrecker is. There are so many options with them, even if most people gravitate towards one or two ideas, or perceptions, of them. They can be unassuming and ‘stupid’ but they can be much more complicated.

Liveblog 11: Episode 7, Bashi the Shark
AKA the one where I admit I think my naming scheme for these liveblogs is actually unspeakably stupid, yet will not proceed to change it.
Tumblr media
Joris, I will be real, the reasons are too long to list.
Tumblr media
Your whole life is a sad story, old man. Every episode of this show should have a "a little sad" content warning by this logic.
Tumblr media
For all the shit I give Kerubim, he's teaching Joris something pretty important — to talk about his emotions, instead of bottling them up, — and he repeats it often enough that Joris uses this particular line to make fun of Kerubim, meaning it comes up a lot. ...I think what makes him try and hammer this lesson into Joris, is that he's scared Joris will grow up to be like him: obsessed with being Cool and Awesome, emotionally unavailable, and isolated from other people due to his nasty personality and mental illnesses. Time will prove that Joris is a guy who is literally ALL of these things, albeit in some very un-Kerubim-ish ways. Which is both sad, and hilarious. History did not just repeat itself, — it swerved, and wrote a really sick haiku, by making Joris into a sort of an... Even-More-French-Kim-Kitsuragi. Even if Keke couldn't prevent it, the attempt still counts. He gets a cookie for being a good dad, this once.
JORIS NUCLEAR ":3" MOMENT, I REPEAT, JORIS NUCLEAR ":3" MOMENT. A LEVEL 10 "( ̄ω ̄ )" EVENT. LITTLE CATBOY DETECTED.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're so funny together, and they love each other so much... I don't have good analysis. I just want to gush.
For all the jokes I make, they have one of the most realistic and well-written "single parent & single child" relationships in any media I know, with all the positives and negatives that includes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obligatory pointing out of food: They are both drinking water with ice, though Kerubim has a lemon and leaves (perhaps it's mint? Or catnip, if we're being spicy?) in his, while Joris has a lime.
Second of all:
I love how his nickname is just "THE negotiator". Despite Kerubim's more whacky antics, he's a pretty very smart guy. He wouldn't be known as "THE negotiator" otherwise.
He tries to hide it, but even as a young adult he's very well-read, which, when paired with his social skills, becomes a pretty good arsenal for negotiating and emissary work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For someone who's very fun-loving and sillywhacky in his personal life, he can act surprisingly cool and collected during a job, even while scared, while still being unserious enough to do some really insane shit if things go wrong.
This entire description, and his body language, remind me a lot of another negotiator-emmisary character, though.
Tumblr media
I wonder why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike Joris, though, he's not that good at rushing into situations with a fearless, almost iop-like "FUCK IT WE BALL" attitude.
He still rushes into them, I mean, but he rushes into them afraid and praying, y'know?

I love how unlike in the original game, Leon is actually angry at Ada. In the original not only does he seem unaffected by the fact that she's still alive, he doesn't even care that she used and betrayed him. I like how Leon now acts indifferent and distrustful of her, and now Ada is the one trying to get his attention.
Another thing that stood out to me was that Ada tried to convince Leon to let Ashley die twice, and I love her disappointed expression when Leon ignored her both times lol.
I'm happy that Capcom is rewriting their canon, and I really hope they scrap Aeon if they plan on remaking RE 6. Ada is still basically treating Leon like a dog and that's disgusting and I don't understand how some people think the Aeon is a "beautiful, romantic relationship".
Their meeting in OG is so weird because it almost feels like that's not actually the first time that they've seen each other between RE2 and RE4. I don't think that that's actually the case -- but, at the very least, Leon seems to have gotten confirmation a long time ago that Ada was actually still alive. ("So it is true. You, working with Wesker.") So, it does make sense that he's not super shocked or otherwise emotionally affected to see her.
I don't think that it's fair to say that he doesn't care that she betrayed him, though. He's definitely wary of her throughout the game ("Why are you here? Why'd you show up like this?" / "Maybe it's about time you told me the reason why you're here."), and he's right to be because -- duh, Wesker.
But, he's not overly worried about it because Ada also gave him a declaration of love and a genuine, dying kiss in OG RE2, so OG Leon has no reason to believe that Ada's going to do anything to actively hurt him or fuck him over, even if she is working with Wesker.
Remake canon is a whole different beast.
Ada never professed feelings in RE2make, and the kiss she gave him in that version of the story was disingenuous and outwardly manipulative. He might not have realized it at the time, but I'm sure he definitely saw it in hindsight. And Leon doesn't have the intel about Wesker going into RE4make, either, so he has absolutely no idea what she's been up to in the last six years. He has every reason to be way more suspicious and uncertain of her motives than he was in OG.
For all intents and purposes, I would argue that Remake canon killed Aeon in RE2make, when Leon points a gun at her and tells her that he never trusted her. OG Leon would have never, because, arguably, OG Ada never deserved it.
Like, I really don't think it's fair to say that OG Ada treated OG Leon like a dog. OG Ada was honest with Leon in ways that Remake Ada never, ever was. OG Ada was also kinder and softer in a lot of different ways that Remake Ada isn't -- and, OG Ada has only ever been on Leon's side. No matter which way the tides turned, Ada always kept her lot thrown in with Leon and never went back on it.
Remake Ada does not do that -- at least, not in a way that he can see. Remake Ada actually does manipulate Remake Leon in the way that people perceive her as always having done in OG (but she actually didn't).
Like, is Aeon stupid and poorly written and badly executed in OG? Oh, absolutely. That's why we're having this conversation to begin with. It's so poorly executed that people can't even agree on what the fuck actually happened between them. But... it is internally consistent, if you pull back and look at it as a complete picture.
This might be a weird pedantic, overly nuanced thing I'm about to say but, like.
I feel like Ada's use of Leon in OG was done from a place of respect, if that makes sense? She knew how smart and capable he was, and she respected that about him, so she looked at him from the perspective of "we'll work together on shit as a team, but I just can't/won't tell him the full extent of what I'm actually doing." And Leon kind of understood that and was grateful for her help, because she continuously gave him reasons to trust her. So, his response was, "We'll work together on shit as a team, and if I don't ask her what she's doing, we can stay a team."
Remake Ada's use of Leon is a lot more malicious. She doesn't respect him; she wants something from him. Remake Ada's use/manipulation of Leon feels more like her looking at him and going "You know, I could probably get something out of him if I play my cards right." It's like that old Chris Rock bit where he talks about how girls don't fuck him just because they want to fuck him; they look at him and go "You know, if I fuck Chris Rock, I bet I could get him to pay my Visa bill."
I feel like that has the opportunity to change, though? Because it does seem like Ada has a genuine change of heart in the post-credits scene of RE4make. The question now is if Remake Leon would actually accept that change of heart or not.
Personally, I don't think that he will -- I think he wants to, just like he wanted to trust her in RE2make. But, ultimately, he didn't trust her. And I think he won't accept her change of heart, either, simply because she's given him absolutely no reason to.
And I think Remake canon could be setting up to turn Ada into a far more tragic character. Without Leon's support and without a plan already set in place when she betrays Wesker, I don't think that this is going to end well for her. She might become the type of character who learned the lesson too late and now can't be saved.
Which... like... sucks. But at the same time is really fucking awesome, because literally no one in the RE universe ever faces real, actual, tangible consequences for their actions. Most of that fucking cast should be dead or turned or both by now. And while it sucks that Ada might end up the sacrificial lamb for this, she's also the best candidate for being the first one to go through it -- because, if Capcom can pull it off with Ada, they're coming for Chris next. Because no one needs to face consequences more than that motherfucker.
And that's gonna be a whole fuckin thing, man.

Daily Sermon #34
Romantic relationships are something everyone thinks about at some point. A lot of people feel pressured to get into relationships because, for some reason, they make you "cool" in primary and middle school.
I cannot stress this enough, do not force yourself to get into a romantic relationship. It will not end well and you'll feel worse than you did before.
I really would not recommend dating anyone, out of pressure or otherwise, at a young age (like from 10-15, whenever you start to consider relationships "serious").
Your mind is not developed by this point and you and your partner will absolutely make stupid decisions that ruin the relationship.
At that age, you might hear this and think, "well, that won't happen to me. I'm smart enough and I'm genuinely in love with this person."
That's what I thought and got into a lot of relationships.
Now I have trust issues and relationship anxiety.
In a romantic relationship at that age, you more than likely will:
- Be cheated on
- Be emotionally manipulated
- Be taken advantage of
- Be emotionally/mentally abused (maybe physically too)
- Be lied to in general
And it really hurts. You might think, "my partner is an absolute angel who loves me! That would never happen!"
And if that's true, perfect, congratulations. But in young relationships, you really should be cautious (not paranoid) about it. There are people who have been married for 10+ years and never saw themselves cheating, who have cheated on their spouse. It can happen to anyone. Please be careful.
And PLEASE have some self respect.
In the early stages of a relationship (the "honeymoon phase"), it's very easy to put your partner on a pedestal and see them as so much better than you.
Don't.
If they start taking advantage of you or abusing you in any way, you'll force yourself to look past it because you got so attached to them.
This isn't victim blaming, it's hardly ever your fault when these things happen and it's very hard to break it off when they do, let alone see it as a problem.
All I'm asking is for you to try and see that you don't deserve to be treated like that. Try to be strong and end things when you start seeing red flags.
I know it's easier said than done, I know it is, just make sure you're talking to a trusted person about this stuff. Having an outside view on your relationship can REALLY put things in perspective.
Just be careful out there. Relationships can be so beautiful, but they're so hard and can be so draining.
Ritual of the Day:

@malectober day 9.
Day 9 : Books
I must admit, this one is not really about books. Books were just an excuse to simp over Magnus. You can't blame me for that.
Warnings : Magnus is hot.
______________________________________________________________
Alexander Lightwood Bane loved a lot of things about his husband. Like, a lot. His sister was pretty sure he kept a list somewhere. She wasn't entirely wrong but Alec's list was preciously saved inside his mind. Once in a while he updated it when he discovered another part of Magnus' personality. That list was fucking long, and of course, he had a top 3 that moved depending on his mood.
But today when he entered the loft after a long and boring day at the council of Alicante, nothing could have prepared him for what he immediatly put on top of his « most favorite things about my husband » list. See, there was already something on top of that list. Something so obvious but that made him smile like crazy every fucking day when he wake up. On top of that list was the fact that Magnus fucking Bane was now Magnus fucking Lightwood Bane. He couldn't get over that fact. Well, until today apparently.
Magnus was quietly reading a book on the couch, his bare feet tucked underneath him and covered by a colorful plaid. He was so beautiful. Alec couldn't get over that fact too, but that was a story for another day. He wasn't wearing makeup and his hair were gently falling in front of his face. He looked so soft. His hair, his skin, his hands. Everything made Alec want to kiss the hell out of him. But what made him gasp loudly was the fact that Magnus wore glasses. Magnus was wearing fucking golden and delicate and round glasses, sitting perfectly on his perfect nose and fitting perfectly his perfect face. Alec wanted to scream.
Top 1 on his list from now on : Magnus fucking Lightwood Bane with fucking glasses.
« Good evening sweatheart, are you okay ? » Magnus had the indecency to ask when he noticed that Alec was staring at him from the corridor.
He was not okay. Not at all. The fangirl in him was screeching like hell and already putting posters of his face on the metaphorical walls of his metaphorical fangirl room.
« You... Glasses. » He just said, standing there awkardly.
« Oh... Yes, I use them sometimes when I have to read a lot. » Magnus smiled and scrunched his nose to replace them correctly.
Fangirl Alec screamed harder.
« I... I've never seen you with them. »
« Really ? Maybe because I don't like them very much. » Said Magnus, making a move to remove them, before freezing when Alec actually screamed.
« No ! »
The warlock raised an eyebrow.
« O...kay... ?  Are you sure you're alright ? Did you hurt your head ? Should I be worried ?»
« Yeah. » Alec breathed, approaching until he could kneel between his legs in front of the couch.
« Now you have me worried. » Magnus frowned, before placing his hand on his forehead.
« Fuck, you're so hot. » Alec all but whimpered, making the warlock frown even more, like he had no clue of what was going on with his stupid husband.
Because, you know, Magnus was hot. That was not an opinion, that was a fact and Alec was ready to fight everyone who told him otherwise. But right now he looked hot and smart. Well, he was smart. He was even fucking smart. It took a lot of smartness in order to invent interdimensional portals, you know ? His intelligence was one of the first things Alec had noticed when he had met the warlock for the first time. It was in the words he used or the way he had to think and do things. He was both technically and emotionally clever. So of course he already looked smart, because he was. But the glasses, that was level up. He looked like a little nerd and Alec had just discovered another hiden kink.
« Alexander...? » Magnus seemed genuinely worried now.
The shadowhunter smiled and rested his head on Magnus' thigh.
« Can you read out loud for me ? »
« Only if you tell me what's going on with you. » Magnus replied, slipping his fingers into his husband's dark locks.
« I just find you very attractive with glasses. » Alec confessed, cheeks turning a shade darker.
Magnus burst out laughing and leaned back on the sofa, wiping the corners of his eyes.
« My dear Alexander, you continue to surprise me everyday. » He chuckled before taking his husband's chin between his fingers and kissing his lips with a tender smile.
« How about you read me this chapter and then I show you how I can be much more suprising ? » Alec asked against his mouth.
« Oh my, Alexander.  I should read more often... » Magnus giggled with delight.
« You should wear glasses more often. It makes me want to do bad things to you. »
« More than usual ? » The warlock chuckled.
« Much more. »
« Well, in that case... » Magnus straightened himself and reopened the book, a serious look on his face despite the butterflies in his stomach.
Alec stayed on the floor between his legs, attentive. He was gonna cover him with books every fucking week just so he'll be blessed by that vision.

Yes, Jimmy did a stupid bad thing. But Kim can't discuss it with him for legal reasons, and so she decides to escalate the conflict to physical aggression. This is a red flag and no one can tell me otherwise. I do believe they are OTP, but not at all because this is a healthy relationship. They're just so emotionally entangled already, that they might as well be together.
Tumblr media
When "Carrot and Stick" first aired, I lost sleep trying to figure out where this was going. That red/rainbow monarch-butterfly-looking suit she was wearing. It introduced the shocking possibility that after all this bullshit, he might actually leave HER. And in hindsight I'm disappointed they didn't go with that plot thread. Her leaving him doesn't mean anything, because Kim is bad at knowing what she wants. But if Jimmy left her because she is... you know... scary? That time it might actually stick!
But he doesn't. Because he's a weak, weak man.

Like Walter White, she's "book-smart", but the script mandates that she goes completely apeshit every third Tuesday. I don't really have a point with this last GIF. I just think she's at her best when she's acting unhinged. At least... that's certainly when I relate to her the most...

Do you not like interstellar?
No :( I wish I did but I did not connect to it emotionally at all and it's a movie that REALLY requires connection to work bc otherwise it just comes across as a bit manipulative. I wasn't moved by it at all so all of the moments between coop and his kids/anne hathaway just felt incredibly maudlin. On top of that it was overly long and I thought the "twist" was a typical stupid nolan "ohoho look at me I am so smart aren't you shocked" moment like the reason I enjoyed oppenheimer was because there was no opportunity to do any of the complex twisty (air quotes) plotting nolan does so it relied entirely on his skill as a filmmaker to elicit genuine emotion from the audience and not on idiotic "surprising" plot twists. Like wow... time travel... that's so smart..... and also all the space shit was just so fucking boring

Also odd bc what else could oli possibly talk about if not Louis or 1D? What else is their in his life other than that?
SO MANY THINGS ANON!! Oli is an iceberg, we see only the barest sliver of his life, and this is exactly why I would love to hear what he might get up to or think about in his off time, it's fascinating.
In all seriousness, I do think this is a weird (although very common) conception of Oli, that's he's stupid, that his only identity is to follow Louis around, that he is Louis' companion because otherwise he'd be, idk, homeless or whatever. I personally think pretty highly of Louis and find it hard to imagine his closest friend and trusted companion for navigating his work life being someone he didn't feel like he could connect with both intellectually and emotionally! Or what about Krystle, people think she's smart and interesting and cool right- she also connected with Oli and became great friends with him and I REALLY doubt it was over how cool Louis is and that was their only common ground. Clearly Oli has something to offer the world, and since he selfishly refuses to share with us I am here for whatever clues we can gather! IDK maybe he talked to this girl about being a student, or about learning languages, or working out or football or music or having annoying friends who think they're the center of the world or trying to establish yourself in a career and then having COVID happen or trying to connect with people when you work all the time and travel a lot or maybe he asked her a lot about herself which tbh, seems like a skill he very likely does have a lot of practice at- being a good listener and offering a certain amount of care taking to people. I mean when you think about it in terms of his work experience, he'd probably be a pretty great boyfriend! A dumbass a lot of the time for sure but really, that's implied in "boyfriend" anyway lbr, a girl could do worse than to have what Louis has in Oli
