this is gonna sound a little mean but idc, i have literally never been in a more self absorbed fandom than the m*rio fandom. im literally begging u people to learn how to have conversations that arent just talking incessantly about your own projects and thoughts. please for the love of god learn how to listen to the people ur supposed to be conversing with and actually acknowledge what theyre saying im gonna turn into the fucking joker

I love the QSMP. Not only has it introduced me to many amazing international creators, it's also introduced me to the French and Brazilian community, who are so sweet, funny, and chaotic in their own unique ways. I love seeing fans sharing their culture and learning from one another, and I myself have learned a lot this past year. I think it's incredible how QSMP brings so many different people together – all of us united in our love and passion for this project and its goals.
But passion can often evoke strong emotions, and these strong emotions aren't always positive.
The past few months, I have seen multiple waves of hate, bad-faith generalizations of communities, and racist remarks directed at fellow fans – especially those who are part of the French / Brazilian community. This kind of behavior is inexcusable, and is in direct conflict with the mission of QSMP, which is to break language barriers and unite communities.
We are a global community with a variety of people from different backgrounds. Miscommunications may occasionally occur because of cultural differences and/or language barriers, but we should use these moments as opportunities to learn and engage with other people rather than assuming the worst about them and starting fights.
Although certain issues can be resolved with communication, sometimes it’s better to block and move on. Avoid spreading negativity or hate, and save yourself the headache of interacting with people who are just looking for someone to argue with.
No matter what community we're a part of or what languages we speak, we're all here to have fun. Please remember to be kind to each other. We have more in common than we have in conflict.

I feel like i could spend a 2 hour therapy session just talking about the roller-coaster of emotions I've experienced today because Courtney Miller and Shayne Topp decided to announce their maybe fake, maybe real marriage.

While “write for yourself” advice is good in theory the point of it is rendered somewhat moot by the fact that fan works are... about community. Writing for yourself is a very good umbrella statement. You should do something because you’re passionate about it. You should write the stories you want to tell, regardless of popularity, because it makes you happy.
The problem with that advice is that by and large the issue people have isn’t with writing, it’s with posting. Personally, I can write 10K of notes for a story with zero issues. It’s purely for my own enjoyment because no one gets to see those notes but me. I write for myself, but I haven’t posted anything in almost a year and a half. I haven’t posted anything because I don’t see the point in putting so much effort into something that no one else is going to read when I’m already content with the notes I’ve written. Interaction (or the lack thereof) has a direct impact on someone’s motivation to work on fanfiction or fanart, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t working on something in private with zero intentions of posting it.
At the end of the day, if someone really wants to write, they will. But that doesn’t mean it’ll be fanfiction. And it doesn’t mean they’ll post it for other people to read even if it is fanfiction.

obviously different people say different things and you can support something existing while still complaining about things not being to your taste as long as you don't comment it on actual creationssss
but sometimes it does get mentally chaotic seeing posts saying you should be allowed to write whatever you want and bad art is okay etc etc and then i scroll down a little more to see people having incredibly high expectations for things that people make for fun and for free in fandom spaces and it's like...
i think there is a gap between seeing our tumblr peers tm as people and creatives having fun, but ourselves as consumers expecting perfect content. you are demanding perfection from those same people you claim to want to support.

If you aren't sure how much vision someone with a white cain has, don't block their path with the intent of them hitting you. Just fucking ask them how much vision they have. I can garentee you they will probably be happy, or just comfortable with telling you.
Don't laugh when you prove they can see. Cuz not everyone with a white cain is entirely blind. Some have one for identification. Meaning their vision is bad, but they can funtion without a cain. It just makes it easier than doing the whole shpeal about how eyes work, or habing to deal with drivers trying to signal you when you cant see. (This is a legal thing that is very common in the visual impairment community. When I got diegnosed my specialists made getting me a cain a first priority.)
Some kid tested me today and I whacked him with my cain. He laughed at me and ran away when I yelled at him and asked if he wanted to know how I can see him. Little pussy didn't even want to deal with the consiquences. Next time he tried that shit he is getting a face full of metal lockers.
Its fucking insulting when people I don't know try to make a game out of my vision. I think that kid also asked my friend with tourettes if their ticks were contagious. Don't treat disabled people like they're play things to science experiments. It's dehumanizing

it's so funny how i've circled all the way back around. i used to hate the idea of being associated with anything popular because having feelings on things other people like makes me vulnerable to being criticized by them. and then it turned out that things other people like are good! and now i'm back around to hating being a jalter fan because people don't like jalter the right way
