Oh my GOD, She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat did not have to demolish my emotions like that in episode 8. I am so proud of Kasuga for standing her ground and prioritizing her life, her happiness, and her chosen family over the demands of filial piety. It’s really important to me the way they have always framed Kasuga’s family interactions in relative dark and cramped spaces (she has both of the conversations with her father in the evening in the car) and how every time she has a phone call where it is clear her life holds no value in the eyes of her father, Kasuga enters a space that is bright and warm with Nomoto right at her side.
Tumblr media
This season really feels like it is focusing on a theme of “freedom.” Nomoto freeing herself from her past identities and finding new ones that fit, Nagumo making steps to free herself from the fear of eating food with others, and Kasuga freeing the expectations her father has of her, and allowing herself to live and full and happy life that is her own.
I love this gl for the women it includes, the “it takes a village” kind of mindset that Kasuga’s relationship to her coworkers, to Nagumo, and to Nomoto are what give her the strength to make that decision is beautiful. It was so important to the story, and also so important to me that Kasuga was able to have that conversation in the restaurant with her coworker.
Tumblr media
To be able to sit with her coworker and hear first hand how much regret and how much identity erasure happens when your own life is disregarded for the sake of upholding misogyny. The way this very directly confirmed what I think Kasuga feared should she return home. The way her coworker was able to hear a daughter be worried for her mother and want to free her, free them both, from playing caretaker. The way Kasuga was able to hear a mother tell her the only thing she wanted was for her daughter to be free.
The way we know Kasuga feels the same way about Nomoto because of how Kasuga seeks her out. Nomoto is the safety blanket, Nomoto is the hug, Nomoto is light, and warmth, and freedom, and a fully belly she never got to have as a kid. Kasuga just rebelled against the pressures of filial piety, and she needs someone to ground her. I love that Kasuga got to see someone get furious on her behalf, to value her life so highly that they would fight an elder for daring to presume otherwise.
Tumblr media
I, like many, was crying at the scene set to Chosen Family. It was so beautiful to see three independent women coming together around the table, valuing each other as they are, accommodating and considerate of everyone’s needs. I feel like we don’t get enough focus on that in BLs. It’s why I love friend groups like Dean, Pharm, and Manow in Until We Meet Again, or Samsee, Prem, and Dynamite in Cooking Crush, or Toh, Jao, Daisy, Som, etc in Secret Crush on You because that is often the closest we get to chosen family being shown on screen. It’s definitely there, do not get me wrong, but the feeling of a scene like this, of a character rejecting their biological family and sticking to their chosen is rare to me in many of the other shows I’ve watched so far.
Anyway, all this to say I am so proud of Kasuga and I am excited to see where the rest of this season takes us if we’re already getting some of my favorite scenes of all time not even halfway through the season.
And thank you to @furritsubs for taking all that time and effort to sub this show for us <3

Real talk? Real?? Real?!
Why on EARTH was the cast of The Owl House so drippy?!
(A sort of breakdown from someone that's only kinda sorta kept up with the show... Me, Guy.)
Spoilers too, I guess...
Tumblr media
Look at our favorite witch-in-training, Luz Noceda. As we can all see here, she's wearing Eda's varsity jacket when she attended Hexside. Level with me, the jacket alone was enough to be a super-dope outfit, but she took it one step further and even wore matching pants, too! Heck, she even tied up her hair in a bun, for crying out loud! She kept the aesthetic of "I'm able to stay calm, but I'm not afraid to kick your butt when the time comes."
And here's another frame of yet another scene...
Tumblr media
Luz dancing with Amity during that one Grom episode...
She wanted to look fancy while she boogied with her soon-to-be girlfriend(At the time, anyway), so she decided to wear what exactly? A tutu, and a frickin' tuxedo! Wonderful! Fabulous! It's all so wild, but you can see that not only did Luz have a plan, it worked danged-near flawlessly! And of course, she decided to wear dance shoes, as well.
And you know what?!
I'm still not done.
I'm going to be real with you here. This is where the spoilers for the end of the show REALLY, REALLY begin! If you really want to watch the show without witnessing the beauty of Luz during [REDACTED], I HIGHLY suggest that you stay away from this post, and move on with your day! Please, leave!
...Are you still here?
Are you sure you wanna be here for [REDACTED]?
Alrightie, then...
3...
2...
1...
...
Okay, you asked for it.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
Tumblr media
Freaking. Bam. Meet Titan Luz.
This is near perfection in cartoon form. Luz looks like she told Amity's parents, "Your daughter calls me mommy, too." She looks deranged in the best way possible.
First and foremost, the cloak nearly perfectly displays everything she's done throughout the series. The glyph on her chest, the bones appearing along the tips and edges of it, referencing her "magic donor", Arin Hanson- I mean Papa Titan(...Is he just called Papa King by the TOH fandom, or am I being dumb? Since, y'know, he's King's dad? I don't know, but back to the comedic analysis).
For Hootie's sake, she even somehow has longer, puffier hair, giving Eda a wink-wink-nudge-nudge without saying a thing. Even further, her eyes turned a pitch-black with yellow irises, making sure that King himself is involved with references as well.
Y'know, this reminds me of a character that I've had written out for a while. Y'all won't see her for a long, long while, but just know that she's tied to this in a way. Backstory aside, she has this one... form, let's call it, where she kind of becomes a vampire. This aspect of her is derived from an art account I follow, I won't say who until the time comes, but she also likes using her legs as her main means of attack, not only calling back to Izuku from MHA, but to her friend who she loves dearly, like a family member.
Back to the main point, I love characters that reference multiple other characters they have a connection to without being overbearing, which is why I love Titan Luz's design. Above all else, this proves that Luz really cared for everyone that has helped carry her this far, and was willing to fight for them, even after her death. And Eda even teaches her magic the way she said she would as early as the second episode of the series, iirc. And, something even more wild, is that Luz sort of looks like Azura, as well, even using one of her quotes for the finishing blow on Belos...
"...NOW EAT THIS, SUCKAAA!"
Admittedly, I don't know much about Luz's palisman, but I do indeed see that they're a cute little snek dude! ...Like how Luz freaked out the school and her principal with those snakes in the first episode(At least, I recall it being the first episode)! Everything about Luz's design is just... It's all just. So. Good.
...Look. I originally wanted to make a fun little ha-ha post about how stylish the characters from The Owl House were, as I highly respect this show and loved it, from the moment I saw King, to the very end of the series where the Collector gave Luz and the Hexsquad the ability to travel between realms, but seeing this transformation and taking the time to dissect her Titan Form design... It really brought me to tears. Not just because the show's actually over, but because I loved it with everything I could give. The way the show handled its characters, even with the rushed development that Disney demanded(Those freaking warm toilet seats), was phenomenal, given the circumstances.
I'll make a post talking more about King and just... him, I guess, but this post is already long enough as it is. Maybe even Eda, Hunter, Gus and Willow as well, if this post really makes its rounds.

First off, great work!! I enjoy all TOH fanart + short comics you've been putting out! Second off, I absolutely am addicted to your Fish in a birdcage animatic! Perfect song choice!! 💖 I'm specifically fixated at that scene with Hunter spiraling surrounded by Belo's memories spinning around him and I just have to ask- like how did ya do that?!?
Also was that the favorite scene you couldn't wait to get to doing when you were first working on it?
!!! thank you so much!!
Oh I can TOTALLY show how I did the spinny thing!! I animated Hunter himself in TVPaint, letting myself be a little choppy with framerate to keep myself Breathing.
But the frames spinning in the background were actually a trick in Adobe After Effects!
Tumblr media
On the left is the 'preview' window, what the camera and y'all saw! The right shows the actual 3D space I laid out in After Effects to get that effect-- using a 3D camera layer to "pivot" on an (admittedly, messily done fdhjdfjhfd) axis to look at the 8 images I shoved in. I made each image into a 3D layer to make them like they were surrounding the centre where I had Hunter's boarded .avi imported on another layer so I could adjust the camera's timing. Then I exported it all into Premiere for final compositing with lighting, backgrounds, and visual effects!
AND HOHOHO.. YES. My favourite scenes to do were the scenes in the second chorus, where Hunter is hiding Flapjack from Belos in the halls. It was such a evil fun parallel to tie back to the first hallway we see Hunter in. I don't know if it read well, but in the first part, his eyes never leave the shadow - making it clear (at least,, to me fHSDJJHSD) that Hunter is still deep in the trenches of Belos Brainrot(tm) . But the next time we see this hallway, he's with Flapjack, and that shadow is getting lifted from his eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also had a lot of fun tweening the Eclipse Lake fight! I was nervous to begin it because I had such a Big Ambitious Idea of it in my head and went "oh no!!! my Scope!!!!!" but I think it came out just as I'd imagined which was really exciting!! That's my favourite sequence of the whole thing, the Eclipse Lake parts.

Have you seen the owl house? If so, do you think it has good representation?
I have seen it, yeah! I enjoyed it too. As for its rep, I think it depends on what kind of rep you're looking for.
From a disability standpoint I think it's fine. I know a some people relate to Eda and later Lilith for how their curse reads more like a chronic disability and there's also the unintentional neuroexpansive portrayal of Luz.
It also manages to avoid a lot of the issues that generally come with treating curses like a form of disability that a lot of other media does. I'm a big fan of the episode where Eda's mother visits has to unlearn her ableism to be a better parent.
I think where it could be improved is in how it utilizes race with its characters. It's not a secret that the main villain is a cream cheese colonizing crusader and the Boiling Isles has several forms of white supremacist violence like:
It being a police state
branding the citizens with law, deception, and force to be killed with the coven sigils, a practice done to several real groups of oppressed people. Obviously not with magic tattoos, but I feel any work that centers heavily around its villain branding oppressed people to denote their status in society should be extremely cautious with how it handles a very real thing.
the control over the education system and information
the breakup of community and enforcing of individualism
declaring the cultural practices of the people native to the land impure and wicked
the colonization, etc.
So while the series focuses a great deal on taking out said cream cheese colonizing crusader, it frames his white supremacy in a way that assumes nearly every single white person complicit in that was "tricked" and immediately understands upon learning properly because Belos was this crafty manipulator who fooled everyone.
ToH imo is at its best when it gets Luz or others to challenge and dismantle the institutions around them and most of its greatest episodes I feel come from its strong cast when it doesn't have to orbit them around white characters. Luz, Camila, Gus, Willow, Eda, Raine, and Darius for example all solo everyone and are great. King is fun.
Luz in particular is really such a great protagonist that I feel strengthens a lot of the show and makes up for the aspects I didn't care for as much.
I don't really like the discourse around or even the term "redemption arc" because I don't feel it drives at the right questions, so it's not an issue of if I feel these characters deserve to be forgiven or not, but moreso how the Owl House provides a white fantasy in how white people can picture themselves as being alleviated of their white guilt and welcomed with largely open arms from non-white people because of it. My question is more "who is the intended audience?"
To give an example using a different show, one of my favorite Moon Girl episodes is the one where Lunella is belittled at school by a white girl because of her textured hair. They don't go on to give the white girl a backstory, they don't show her parental background or even give her a name. The focus is on Lunella dealing with desirability politics, texturism, and getting support from her friends and family to embrace her hair as it is.
It's not to say I hate the white cast or think they have nothing of value to offer. It's not lost on me that Hunter for instance is an abuse victim and a lot of people can identify with that struggle and him having to unlearn that behavior.
But at the same time the show goes back and forth on trying to do that and also having him wield state power. I'm not all that cool with him institutionalizing a bunch of girls and non-white kids, not listening when they say he's hurting them, then only coming around because he felt more sympathy for their animal companions, which ends up happening far more often in real situations than it should.
A lot of the Owl House when looked at that lens may have a lot of non-white characters in it, but they can sometimes feel like trophies for its white cast after they've been taught better. They do a great job of depicting numerous facets of colonial violence portrayed in an easily accessible way to younger viewers.
But it also feels ultimately in service of centering the rehabilitation of its white cast.
So I think "what audience is this intended for" is an important question to ask when evaluating representation in a work.

i really really love vee's character development
when we see vee and camilla again in s3, we can see how much vee has adjusted to the human realm, and just like luz in the boiling isles, has found a place where she belongs in gravesfield. she's formed her own identity as a human member of the noceda family instead of being a doppelganger of luz, but is still comfortable in her basilisk form at home. she helps hunter, gus, willow, and amity adjust to the human realm. we can see that she's put the stuff back in luz's room that she had been planning to throw out while under luz's identity, and she's left a loving note to luz welcoming her back and saying she missed her. we can see framed photos of her and camilla, showing that camilla lovingly views vee as her adoptive daughter. she's made her own friends in gravesfield and developed a crush on her friend masha. and she was prepared to confront jacob hopkins, who kidnapped her and attempted to murder and dissect her, and even takes on belos, the man who ordered the revival of her species for experimentation, who essentially ordered a genocide of basilisks, while belos is possessing her friend and future adoptive brother hunter, while yelling to hunter to hang in there.
all this parallels luz's development, and shows that like luz found a place where she belongs in the boiling isles, vee found a place where she belongs in gravesfield. she's become less pessimistic and shy, and more optimistic, brave, and comfortable both as a basilisk and as a human without impersonating luz.
even though i wish we could have seen more of vee in s3 (curse disney for cutting toh short), she's still by far one of my favorite characters in toh and it's really wonderful how she developed as a character in the show. hoping we see more of her soon :)
anyway, i'm probably going to do some fanart of vee. loved her and her design since she was introduced, but especially once i first watched thanks to them :)

Mattholomule is Gus Shadow
Oh boy! I sure do love everything about Watching & Dreaming but I have to say my favorite part is when Gustholomule became canon and that's a thing that happened actually!!! Anyway, it's neat that most of the TOH ships have a sort of opposites attract dynamic: Lumity has the shoujo rivals trope; Huntlow is crushing-watermelon-with-thighs meme; and Gustholomule has the best dressed boy with an unwashed rat-man.
But with I told you that Gus and Mattholomule are more similar than they seem? What if I told you that the two boys are so similar to each other that they are like two halves of the same person?? What if I told you... ehh, you already read the title.
What is a Shadow?
First we need to go over what a shadow is: A shadow is: "an unconscious aspect of the personality that does not correspond with the ego ideal, leading the ego to resist and project the shadow. In short, the shadow is the self's emotional blind spot..." (Wikipedia). In other words, the Shadow is the shadowed side of one's personality, the part of themselves that they don't want others (or themselves) to see. However, ignoring the shadow dosen't make it go away, it just makes it stronger, seeping into one's everyday life as flaws and bad choices. Or in the case of Persona, giant fetish monsters (this is a joke, the persona games actually do a really good job of writing psycho-analysis even without the video game bosses). So, what does any of this have to do with Gustholomule? EVERYTHING!!! Which get's clearer in the next few paragraphs :)
Gus & Mattholomule's backstories
From TOH wiki: "Augustus Porter is the son of reporter Perry Porter, who wants his son to be a master illusionist (there's a source for this but I deleted it so Tumblr dosen't hide my post). Due to his skills in illusion magic, Augustus is one of the youngest students at Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, taking high school-level classes despite being twelve years old. However, due to his young age, Gus was often overlooked and ignored, and he was gullible to the various students that took advantage of his intelligence. The only place where he felt he mattered was the club he led, the Human Appreciation Society. Besides the other members of the H.A.S, the only other student he befriended was Willow Park, who helped him calm down from an illusionary memory with a breathing exercise he remembers to this day."
In short, Gus comes from a history of people tricking him in order to advance themselves (this is in Bold because it's gonna be super duper important for my argument later). Despite that, Gus wasn't destroyed by his backstory because he had people like Willow to help him (also important).
For Matt: "Mattholomule used to attend Glandus High, where he was friends with Bria, Gavin, and Angmar. Due to Glandus's social structure favoring the strong, Mattholomule was bullied by other students, including his three "friends" who had manipulated him. Eventually, he switched out of Glandus and started to attend Hexside, but still stuck around Bria, Gavin, and Angmar due to having nobody else to be his friend."
Just like Gus, Matt comes from a history of veing bullied and used by others. Unlike Gus, Matt didn't have anyone in his corner but himself (and Steve but like apparently adults are weirdly useless at helping their kids witch school problems which is actually extremely realistic now that I think about it).
In otherwords, Gus and Matt have nearly identical backstories, but turned out differently because only Gus had a real friend. And in my next few paragraphs, we find out that the "difference" between them is a lot smaller than it seems.
Something Ventured, Someone Framed
So if you've been paying attention, you have probably come to the conclusion that Gus is "good" person. And while that definitely isn't a bad conclusion to come to, this episode is going to hit you like a truck:
Gus: L-Luz, a-about the ban, I, uh, used my H. A. S. presidential authority to pull some strings. You've been given a full pardon!
Luz: You mean...
Gus: I got the ban lifted!
[Does a little dance when she's gone lol]
Willow: You lied to our best friend and told her you got the ban lifted. That seems like a potential problem to me.
Gus: You don't understand. The members were going mad. They were bloodthirsty. They were touching objects. I had no choice!
Note: instead of saying something like "one of the members is lying to the others" or something like that, Gus "had no choice" because... they were breaking his rule of no touching?!
Now, some people did catch on to Gus behavior and were mad at him for it. I'm not one of those people, in fact, I'm the exact opposite. This episode made me LOVE Gus' character! Before SV,SF Gus was just comic relief that was attached to Willow's hip. But now, Gus has flaws! He can exist as his own character!! He's lying to and mainipulating people like the little illusionist he is!!!
... wait a minute, "...and he was gullible to the various students that took advantage..."; "...Gus comes from a history of people tricking him in order to advance themselves."; "...ignoring the shadow dosen't make it go away, it just makes it stronger, seeping into one's everyday life as flaws and bad choices." This is Gus Shadow: a hurt child that's willing to trick people the same way that other people tricked him. Heck, there's even a name for the exact shadow that Gus possesses: The Know-It-All Trickster (I swear Im not anti gus wtf). From Artofmanliness .com (That name is so much worse than it seems), "The Know-It-All Trickster knows how to charm his way out of trouble. He’s adept at deception and manipulation and will gain the trust of those around him, only to betray it when they least expect it." While this is a lot more sinister than Gus at his worst, it dose perfectly describe what happened in SV,SF: Gus became friends with Luz recently and deceives her at a time when she would never expect it. Although, that description also sounds a lot like another character that shows up this episode (Mattholomule is inside your walls).
Of course, while Gus has flaws, he isn't the same as the people that tricked him. The older kids got their homeworks worth out of Gus and left without taking any responsibility for their actions. But Gus didn't do that, he endanged himself in order to save Luz from detention, and then he took responsibility for the mess he caused. He even saved Mattholomule from detention because "no one get's left behind"! Gus has flaws, but he was able to rise above them during his first focus episode, which is highly impressive for a twelve year old.
Through The Looking Glass Ruins
This episode's plot is interesting in that, while Gus is technically lying to people again, it wasn't even his idea! Gus was the one that didn't want to hang out with the Glandus because "he's just an illusionist" (an idea that Gus Shadow, Matt literally echos) so Luz goads him into hanging out with him in order to build back his self confidence.
Unlike SV,SF where Gus creates a lie that endangers Luz, Luz starts the lie that Gus is a "super witch" and Gus only upholds it to hang out with the Kool Kidz. Basically, Gus did nothing wrong.
Anyway, Gus gets a crush on the Boneghazi girl. Weird. I don't want to spend too much time talking about Bria because she's crazy shaped, but she is the next entry in a long line of older kids that trick Gus and ruin his self confidence. Then, the most important part of the episode happens:
Mattholomule: This is exactly how it was at Glandus. Always Bria's stooge.
Gus: Better a stooge than a clown. Bria was right, illusions are nothing but high-def party tricks.
Mattholomule: Yeah, I used to think that too. [He makes a saw of rock to cut the vines trapping Gus and The Keeper.] But then I met some dork who used his powers to save me from a man-eating detention pit. All I'm saying is, if a dumb illusion can save a jerk like me, maybe it's not as useless as you think.
Replace illusion with "Gus" and this conversation is practically the same. Gus is saying he can't help anyone and Matt is telling him "you already helped me" (the perfect start for the perfect ship).
Focusing more on Matt, this moment is a bit more than just him reaching out a hand or doing the right thing. As I said before, Matt has the same history of people using him just like Gus (it even happens in this episode). But unlike Gus, Matt didn't have anyone in his corner but himself. So instead of staying the victim, Matt became "villain". He most likely joined the H. A. S. with the intention of replacing whoever was in charge by using the same methods that Bria uses, trickery. Matt wanted to be on top of the social ladder through any means nessasary, and when his plan failed in SV,SF he went crawling back to Bria so he could gain some sense of power.
So why does Mattholomule help Gus in this episode? Simple, He's not Bria. Even when Matt tried to walk the same path as his bullies, he could never fully suppress the part of himself that had morals, that wanted to help people. And by choosing to help Gus even though the odds are stacked against them, Matt finnaly accepted that he wasn't a 100% jerk.
Plot twist: Gus is Mattholomule's Shadow. Just like how Matt represents Gus's capacity to become like the people that took advantage of him, Gus represents the part of Matt that was weak enough to be taken advantage of, a good person. There's even a word of Matt's Shadow: a Golden Shadow, the positive qualities of one self that they suppress.
Conclusion
Gustholomule is a deep relationship between two people who are really the same person that walked to different paths. However, it's only through meeting each other and forming a tight bond with each other that these two boys were able two accept their hidden selves and complete the process of self actualization. Truly a magnificent journey of self growth indeed.
Gustholomule is best ship fight me

Hello! I’m here for a toh oc matchup! I’m glad that ur open to writing them bcs I didn’t know if you’d be ok with any of that cuz I’m sure u have plenty of matchup requests lol
Ok so I can’t send pictures to u for some reason so I’m gonna do my best to describe my oc :’)
Oc’s name: Kai Maeverick Riverten
Species: Human
Tracks they’re in at hexide: Oracle and bard
Gender: Non-binary
Sexuality: Bisexual
Palisman: Female Cardinal
Age: 15
Likes: Puzzles, anime, video games, nature, music, daydreaming, riddles, escape rooms, magic, fantasy, sci-fi, cats, dogs, animals in general, cryptids, exploring abandoned buildings, collecting weird/antique objects, stuffed animals, zombie movies, Disney movies, space, playing the guitar, Gravity Falls, Amphibia, bad jokes, puns, sarcasm, shiny things, creepy stories, conspiracy theories, listening to missing person podcasts, true crime cases, Scooby Doo, Ghostbusters.
Kai has short black hair with a side cut with hair that was swept to the left, pale skin, dark purple eyebags, blue and hazel heterochromia, a sharp (ish?) jawline, a thin face with the slightest hint of cheek bones, and a round nose with a slight dent in it because of their square blue glasses that had a few tiny cracks in the frame.
Kai is kind of like Luz’s older sibling
Kai and their mom live with Camila after their mom divorced her dad, and has basically been Luz‘s childhood friend/sibling figure
Kai is usually very quiet and never really speaks, but whenever they do their usually saying something sarcastic or smug, but they’re secretly very kind and compassionate towards people they are close to (such as Luz)
Kai loves Luz like a sister, but also resents her because people in the demon realm always seem to prefer her over them
Kai usually hangs out with Hooty a lot since they’re both attention deprived, and once Lilith came along, they became a trio instead of a duo
Eda prefers Luz over Kai, which is another reason why they hang out with Lilith a lot, because she doesn’t play favorites
Kai is the more pessimistic one, and always focuses on the negative instead of a positive
Kai is also an over thinker, constantly wondering if Luz doesn’t need them anymore because of her new friends or if everybody secretly hates them
The reason why Kai doesn’t have any friends in the human realm was because of their interest in true crime and missing person cases, everybody found it weird and creepy when they were just interested in it
Kai is good at giving advice and helping people
Kai is extremely selfless and doesn’t focus on their own well-being that often
Kai’s father was abusive towards them, which is why their mother divorced him
Kai loves studying things about the Boiling Isles, which is what they do most of the time since nobody really hangs out with them
Kai has insomnia
Kai likes exploring the Boiling Isles with portable Hooty
I hope this wasn’t too much info/not enough info for ya! I don’t wanna overwhelm you :)
Tumblr media
I match them with: Willow Park!
-Willow would solve puzzles with them.
-Obv with them liking nature and her liking plants and all that.
-Also to expand on that last one of liking nature not only does she like plants she loves animals of all types.
-Girl collects stuff animals.
-Okay I'm sorry that I keep bringing my ships into this but I ship huntlow, so I guess she just has a thing for Luz's older siblings.
-Idk why and canon literally disproves this in a way but I feel like Willow gravitates toward quiet people. (I know she is best friends with Luz and Gus 2 outgoing people but trust me on this one-)
-Willow treats Kai and Luz on the same level ( Okay she's Kai's girlfriend in this but she doesn't favor one in general yk?)
-Willow would reassure them, bro. She is literally known for being the person who cheers her friends up, I think it's called mom friend but I really don't know.
-If you don't have at least one "weird" interest you can't be friends with Willow actually.
-Honestly, they both seem to have their own problems but focus on others. So they just go in a circle of trying to help each other overcome their problems while not fixing their own.
-She would try to help them with their insomnia.
-Also I might be misremembering but (excluding Lilith) of all the characters who talk about Hooty she's the nicest. She makes one off-handed comment. So she'd be able to get along with Hooty.
I hope you like this! Sorry, it took so long also I didn't proofread this so I'm SO sorry if I misgendered them by accident tell me if I did so I can fix it.

Gustholomule with 002 for the ask game!!
hi anon i'm so sorry i meant to answer this ages ago but i was swamped with finals all week! finally free though :)
when i started shipping it: pretty early in my watch through! i remember watching something ventured, someone framed and thinking hmmm... these bitches gay ?? and then once i got into the fandom and saw there was a following for it i really started shipping it! actually my first toh fanart was gustho haha
my thoughts: i don't think dana & co ever meant for us to ship them tbh, so even though i was disappointed that they didn't interact in the finale, i wasn't super surprised. but i think they have such an interesting dynamic!! gus is so cool and matt is not but also theyre both SO lame in the best way and they both have trust issues and also theyre like 12 and like... they are just so special to me
what makes me happy about them: how goofy they are. while i do think there's so much potential for their dynamic, i also think they're just two silly guys who hang out and i like the simplicity of that
what makes me sad about them: their lack of screen time :( (together and separately)
things done in fanfic that annoy me: hmmm tbh i've only read gustho fanfics that i've really enjoyed... i've never really had a negative experience with a gustho fic! all our writers are so talented! but i guess something that sometimes bothers me in fanon is when the hexsquad is rude to matt/don't give him a chance. i see why they might be wary, but Luz is the king of Befriending Everyone, willow is naturally very compassionate, and hunter/amity have both had their fair share of second chances! so even if they wouldn't get along right off the bat, i'm not a fan of scenarios where they just never warm up to him/consistently dislike him
things i look for in fanfic: i love when gustho fics have them just hanging out being teenagers. thats the vibe i think fits them best!
who i'd be comfortable them ending up with if not each other: hmmm i don't really have other ships for either of them! there's no one that comes to mind but i think if either of them were implied in the finale to be in a relationship with a hexside student we've met, i'd be like 🤷‍♀️ sure ig
my happily ever after for them: they continue to get close and become besties throughout high school, move in together after grad, and are so close that eventually they realize they've basically been dating for years and just kinda shrug like kay guess we're a couple and then theyre in love forever <33
who is the big spoon/little spoon: i think it depends! the both fill both roles at different times. though i do think that depending on when they get together, matty would totally be like "I'M the big spoon cause i'm MANLY" and gus is like "okay manly man" and makes him the little spoon anyway and he actually loves it
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: i'll bfr they're sex-neutral aces to me anyway so <3 (i don't really think about their feelings about sex since they're like 12 for most of the show, i just love to project my identity onto blorbos) so ANYWAY to actually answer the question, i headcanon that they LOVE to game together. video games and board games both - they just both get so competitive and have a lot of fun with it. their game nights are VERY loud and high-energy
thank you sm for the ask! i love thinking about these losers :)

AHHHHH OKAY WHERE DO I START
spoilers for TOH/Thanks to Them incoming (plus a good helping of rambling)
I think Camila might be my favorite character now. Seeing the flashbacks of her always being so supportive of Luz’s antics and standing up for her was so heartwarming; She even has the skin of the garter snake framed on her night stand!! I’m so curious to see what she thinks of the Demon Realm.
And speaking of that snake, I noticed it looks a hell of a lot like Belos’ inhuman form? At least, in how it's colored? Two shades of green in bands, with red-brown spots all over it. Idk if that parallel means anything (if intentional at all) but I thought it was interesting
So Evalyn is very plainly a Clawthorn ancestor, right? It does sound like Edalyn (and the cutout looked like her), but Eda isn’t THAT old (and she went by a different name anyway, if I remember correctly?)
AND flapjack also got called Evalyn before getting, well… yeah
Makes me question Dell’s palisman also being a cardinal… There’s no way THAT’s Caleb, right?
But does that make Caleb one of Eda’s ancestors, too? Or did Evalyn remarry??? ARE HUNTER AND EDA RELATIVES???
Did Evalyn store the titan’s blood in the cemetery? Or was that one of the Whittabanes? Same goes for the scroll (“Ruven?”)
Poor hunter, too… He already has had it so rough, and then Philip possesses him? And now he has even more scars… Give the boy a break!
Plus Luz revealed he was a grimwalker while he was out! I know it was definitely a Freudian slip, but still; He doesn’t know.
I can’t believe we got NOTHING about the current state of the Demon Realm… I expected a quick ending scene or something at the least.
Outside of the dramatic stuff, lots of small details to love;
Masha’s enby-flag nails give me life! I love that they're replacing Jacob at the museum
Camila’s nerd closet full of Cosmic Crusader stuff is so fun. And her rainbow heart patch/sticker too!
“HI! I’M BI!” was 1000% just to rub it in Disney’s face (as they should).
Willow's scrapbook!!! Ahhh!!! I didn't pause to look at all the pictures but I definitely will be going back to do so!!!
holy shit the giraffe
i think that’s all I got for now
