Navy Wings is one of the charities I support by having them sell my Royal Navy Blue Books, including the latest in the collection, ‘When I was on the Massive’, via their shop. The profits help raise funds to keep heritage aircraft flying.

-(@fleetairarm - Current)- Here you can see a Fleet Air Arm Merlin hovering above the deck of an unidentified Type 23 frigate during Royal Marines fast rope training. This is invaluable training for the Royal Marines, being able to simulate boarding a target ship for a raid, and all of the danger associated with that! Notice the VLS Cells (the round canisters to the right of the photo) are not the ‘mushroom farm’ configuration and so are Sea Wolf Missiles rather than the latest Sea Ceptor Missiles fitted during the Type 23’s Life extension refit to enable some of the ship in the class serve until the 2030s before they will be replaced by type 26 and type 31 frigates being built at the moment!
