Hello, everyone! This spring will be busy for me (mostly because of uni stuff) so I will not be so active here for a while. BUT I still made one thing and it's game mockup about Tia and Luna (here called Elea & Agnieszka)!
Tumblr media
So story is about two sisters from Europe - one prosecutor (graduated) and the second is forensic science student. They both travel to USA for internships but instead of doing practice in human world they isekai find themselves in the pony world (pre-alicorn era).
Tumblr media
Not to waste a time, girls decide to apply their knowledge about law and enforcement into practice since local tribes - pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies - don't get along at all.
Tumblr media
The game is a visual novel but has a lot of interaction elements like shooting from a gun, taking photos, collecting and examining evidence, debating (like in ace attorney), using smth similar of real softwares that forensic scientists use bc i don't want to be sued haha but TruView Cloud is real and I used it only as visual example.
I had this idea for a pretty long time and finally I managed to properly visualize it. I had a lot of fun headcanoning (and still have) so maybe in the future I will make a couple of more arts relating to this story and those girlies.
And for now - bye!

Happy Halloween & Macabre Marbled Monday!
The Parkman-Webster case is one of the creepiest from our trials collection: shortly after the disappearance of Boston businessman George Parkman in 1849, his dismembered cadaver was discovered in professor John White Webster’s laboratory at Harvard Medical College.
It’s one of the earliest instances of the use of forensic evidence to identify a body.

From Supreme Court Sides with Defense on Death Row Case” by TXO Staff Reporter Michelle Pitcher:
The state forensics lab that handled the evidence in Areli Escobar’s capital case was so bad that Texas officials closed it for good five years after a jury sentenced the then-32-year-old to death in 2011. The evidence in the case was so tenuous that the Travis County District Attorney’s office ultimately sided with the defense, arguing that Escobar deserved a new trial.
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed that the case deserves another look.
“We are thrilled the Supreme Court stepped in to give Mr. Escobar a chance to prevent a grave miscarriage of justice in his case,” said Daniel Woofter, one of Escobar’s defense attorneys, on Monday. “We’re talking about a life or death case where all of the parties, including the prosecutors, don’t think he should be put to death without a fair trial,” he previously told the Observer.
Escobar was sentenced to death for the murder of 17-year-old Bianca Maldenado Hernandez, who lived in the same apartment complex in Austin. Escobar has always maintained his innocence.
The Court of Criminal Appeals, the state’s highest criminal court, will now reexamine Escobar’s case, although it may not take up the matter for several months. The Supreme Court’s order asks the Texas court to take special notice of the prosecution’s change of heart.

I didn't want to distract from the excellent article about the woman doing great work on Wikipedia nazi articles, but it reminded me of my current crusade that I need Wikipedia gurus to help me fix.
Probabilistic genotyping is a highly contentious form of forensic science. They use an algorithm to say if someone's DNA was on the scene of a crime for mixtures that are too complex to be analyzed by hand.
Let's learn more by going to the Wikipedia page.
Tumblr media
Oh that's good, it's less subjective. Sure defense attorneys question it, but they question all sorts of science.
Let's go to the cited article to learn more.
Tumblr media
Well that doesn't seem like it probably supports the Wikipedia assertion. Let's skim through to the conclusion section of the article.
Tumblr media
Well shit.
Also the article talks about how STRmix, one of these popular programs, has allowed defense attorneys to look at the algorithm. That's true! We hired an expert who was allowed to look at millions of lines of code! For 4 hours. With a pen and paper.
Junk science is all over the place in courtrooms and it's insane that allegedly objective places like Wikipedia endorse it so blindly. I am biting.

I feel like there's a lot you can criticize danganronpa for but I don't get the criticism about how like a lot of the evidence isn't good evidence. No shit, you get a bunch of teenagers w/ no law practice and make them do a trial in the murder game that they're all being forced to partake in, did you think that the evidence a bunch of teenagers found wouldn't be absolute shit

Love those moments in cop dramas where they tell the tech guy “enhance it” and the picture becomes clear.
Y’all know they’re just telling the computer to guess what’s there, right? They’re just offering more pixels and telling the computer to guess what it would look like. They weren’t just looking at a picture that was pixelated that badly for no reason. They didn’t just have the settings on the camera turned to ‘garbage’. The computer is guessing. You understand that, right?

I don’t know enough about the law to write a full story (also super busy with other writings and things) but I would probably make some headcannons if anyone likes this idea.
