#grim and the dorm changing arc

This is probably the last little ramble I've got in me for a while, but I'm excited about it none the less!!!
Also, I never write these things out. I get the idea, let it simmer in my head, and then I eventually tell someone- usually you. 😂 So I hope that explains why my asks are always so long and rambly. Thank you for reading them! 🎉💛
So... let's say that Crowley discovers that MC cannot be sent home. Now, I've had a few scenarios about this.
One in which Crowley decides that the easiest thing to do is make sure that MC gets married to a lucky student after graduation so she's taken care of- I'll tell you about that one someday if I can find a way to condense it so it isn't so long. It was a fanfiction that I tried to write, but Tumblr ate it.
Another scenario I thought about for this, is Crowley gives MC some students for Ramshackle. Mainly misfits from other dorms, because Ramshackle is basically the Hufflepuff of NRC. This idea caused me to make 6 OCs... what is wrong with me. Anyways, because Crowley thinks "maybe she won't be so lonely!", like these students are puppies or something... but chaos ensues. Chaotic, but I love the OCs I made for this idea.
The last idea I had- and the one I wanted to tell you about, was Crowley feeling bad for MC and allowing her to choose any of the 7 dorms for her and Grim to officially join. I have seen a few Tumblr users play with this idea and I love it. But in my scenario for it, Crowley doesn't tell the MC what he's doing, at first. Instead, he simply sends her and Grim to stay with each dorm for one week, stating that Ramshackle is uninhabitable and needs repairs. He decides that she can choose after being with each dorm for an equal amount of time. She has no idea what is really happening. Grim *does* know, and he's been bribed to keep his mouth shut.
ALL of the other students know, and the teachers too. But Crowley specifically tells the dorm leaders they nor their students are allowed to tell MC about why she's truly staying with them, and they definitely aren't allowed to act any different or try and make their dorm more enticing. Meaning no parties, special events, perks or presents, etc. MC must be treated as every other student... of course, nobody listens to the rules... except for maybe Riddle- but he finds a way to throw MC her very own unbirthday party anyways.
Remember the part where I said Grim knows but was bribed to not tell MC? Yeah, he uses the situation to his advantage. Because it's a known fact to everyone else that Grim is aware of what is truly happening, and everyone knows how much MC loves her cat-monster partner. So basically, happy Grim = happy MC. And happy MC = MC joining their dorm. So Grim manages to get everything he wants.
Staying in Heartsabyul: "Wow Ace, that tart looks so yummy... by chance, would you like to "share" it with me?"
Staying in Scarabia: "You know, Kalim... I bet MC would be so happy if I had a golden collar... hint hint."
Staying in Diasomnia: "That's a nice cloak you got there, Malleus."
Grim would 100% stare each student dead in the eyes and and smirk the entire time he was asking for something. Cue eye-twitch from the victim. Everyone is desperate to get MC to join their dorm so they basically comply with every request Grim has. At some point Grim freakin' cons Azul out of his own damn glasses! And when asked why he did it, Grim simply shrugs and says "because I could."
By the end of their tour of the seven dorms, Grim has a whole stash of treasure and MC is elated over the time spent with her friends. The various dorms all wait impatiently to see who she's chosen. And each dorm head is fairly confident that she has chosen his dorm.
Crowley tells MC the truth about his plans, and then asks her to choose what dorm she'd like to live in.
Cue MC smiling brightly and saying "I'm happy here at Ramshackle! I'd like to stay here."
(Also I just saw in your pinned post that you said you liked Sailor Moon and BNHA. Who are your favorite characters? I love those shows!)
- Swimmy
Swimmy-my-my-my~ all the love to your ideas, its one better than the other lmao I'm always honored that of all people you could chose to share this ideas with, you keep choosing me
Tumblr media
(keep doing the good work, Swimmy my angel <3)
(I decided to copy the first two ideas so its easy to get it)
"One in which Crowley decides that the easiest thing to do is make sure that MC gets married to a lucky student after graduation so she's taken care of- I'll tell you about that one someday if I can find a way to condense it so it isn't so long. It was a fanfiction that I tried to write, but Tumblr ate it."
oh, so this was the fic you talked about </3 I really hope you try again someday bc I already think is amazing! I could think all the ways each boy could be up to the task but it will got sooo long bc I can emerge in the prospects of future au/married life a lot lol
but like... if you ever need help with that... pls... let's go on a rabbit hole about the whole competition + the married life hcs together <3
"Another scenario I thought about for this, is Crowley gives MC some students for Ramshackle. Mainly misfits from other dorms, because Ramshackle is basically the Hufflepuff of NRC. This idea caused me to make 6 OCs… what is wrong with me. Anyways, because Crowley thinks "maybe she won't be so lonely!", like these students are puppies or something… but chaos ensues. Chaotic, but I love the OCs I made for this idea."
SWIMMY OCS AAAAAA I really want to know all of them! Really, really, really! I never thought about this... but yeah, Ramshackle having this Hufflepuff vibes of "we will just throw all the secondary and not so important characters here" </3 not anymore, Crowley! you can regret this idea but MC sure won't
"The last idea I had- and the one I wanted to tell you about, was Crowley feeling bad for MC and allowing her to choose any of the 7 dorms for her and Grim to officially join. Grim does know, and he's been bribed to keep his mouth shut."
You can already see that this isn't going to end well (for everyone who isn't Grim ofc lmao) sneaky Crowley~ even sneakier Grim~~
The whole thing of Grim blackmailing the dorms to get nice things, these people fighting over how to make the dorm more comfy and good so MC can stay there, then everything backfires bc MC enjoys Ramshackle dorm with all its imperfections and qualities, the ghosts and ofc Grim <3
everyone like:
Tumblr media
(Azul needed to buy new glasses, Jamil can't believe Kalim spent so much on a golden collar, Ace misses his cherry tart, Malleus is still sulking over his taken cloak, Leona eying Grim bc he ate all his special beefs and other meats they brought for lunch all for this little shit of a racoon or whatever Ruggie I'm going to sleep, Epel watching everyone in Pomefiore having a meltdown bc they brought the most expensive silk cat-house/bed for Grim and he wanted that change dorms would be so easy for him, Idia dead bc he'll need to walk off of Ignihyde just to pet Grim instead of having him just there)
I had a similar idea to this but it wasn't about changing dorms, but still has the thing that everyone does their best to impress MC and convinces her that "oh this one (points at boy) is a good option". Maybe in the future, this idea will see the light too :')
and talking about Sailor Moon and bnha!
SM: my favorite characters are Hotaru (Sailor Saturn), Makoto (Sailor Jupiter), Minako (Sailor Venus), Rei (Sailor Mars), Helios and Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask) <3
BNHA: Kirishima, Ochako, Tsuyu, Tokoyami, Iida, Aizawa, the Big3, Camie, Momo and there's so much more but these are the ones that poped into my mind now <3
later tell me your favorites too, okay? again, thanks for another lovely ask, Swimmy <333

Floyd's Nickname Analysis
Tumblr media
We all know that they can be correlated to how they look or act, but what if they were also actions or personality traits that each person has?
Riddle- "goldfish" or "kingyo"
He's red (Trigger for Floyd). He feels bad that Riddle is trapped in a "fishbowl" and hopes for him to explore the ocean. Can get violent, unlike what he seems (goldfish eat other fish; they can be at the top of the food chain depending on what fish you consider)
Ace- "crab" or "kani"
He's spiky and red (hair and personality-wise). Eels eat them; they are great prey for them (like in the 3rd arc, with the contracts)
Deuce- "mackerel" or "saba"
Mackerels are called "blue-backed fish", which spoil easily (In Japanese it can be translated to "Fast legs". Mixed with his track/field club). In France, I think, April Fools can be called April Fish day. Mackerels can be caught a lot in April. He is kind of... Stupid (Fool)
Cater- "snapper" or "hanadai" (This is from the wiki, which is correct, but I'll explain why I can't translate this correctly)
I can't translate his name because there isn't an actual fish; there are tons of fish that are called hanadai (just to name a few; akaobihanadai, sujihanadai, nagahanadai), kind of like a sub-family (different personalities). He is the only one so far who has a more vague nickname.The ones I think about have a tall nose, which reminds me of Pinocchio, whose nose gets taller the more they lie. They are pretty though.
Some of them are called “sea goldies” (a clue about how he could have been ex-dorm leader)
They eat shrimp... Maybe one day he'll hurt us
Trey- "sea turtle" or "umi kame"
They're smart, and they can also go on land (Secret?). He's the father of Hearts, and turtles and Disney remind me of a certain sea turtle in the Nemo series. And I think turtles are smart (glasses maybe?)
Leona- "Todo" or "Sea Lion"
As it's called, he is a lion. Sea lions can go on land... I wonder if he knows something outside of the ocean (Twisted Wonderland)..? Reminds me of Grim in a way.
Ruggie- "sharksucker" or "kobanzame"
He's always with Leona, like them with sharks. They eat scraps, and look out for a chance to strike, like for food.
Jack- "sea urchin" or "uni"
He's spikey with his hair. He's different than he appears; Sea urchins look inedible, but they are rich and creamy. I mean rich as with knowledge and mild as in personality in his case. And he is from the north, where I think good sea urchins are harvested. I wonder if the orange has anything to do with his dorm color. I can't say this for sure, but rich as in money.
Jamil- "sea snake" or "umihebi"
He's a snake. And like one, he is pretty, but with poison. I wonder if Floyd knows about the snakes' hint in the mirror. Anyways, I think Floyd thinks Jamil is similar to Jade (Sea snakes can be mistaken for eels sometimes)
Kalim- "Sea Otter" or "Rakko"
I wonder if his hair was brown, and not white... They are gourmets and can't eat without their favorite rock (Jamil). And he is hunted down because he is rich... (Sea otters were hunted down for their pellets). The turban reminds me of the seaweed they wrap around.
Epel- "guppy"
Not good with bettas, and loose to them. They are sensitive with temperature; Epel get heated up sometimes and is usually cool (faking his personality)
Vil: "Betta"
They get tired after flaring too much (overblot; with the issue with Neige). Really pretty, and aggressive. Not good with mirrors because of this (Mira with Vil)
Rook: "black-tailed gull" or "umineko"
He's in the sky, compared to the ocean. They can get wild and fast when they want. He's also a hunter (they hunt fish). He also has cat eyes. (they are literally called sea cats in japanese)
Idia- "firefly squid" or "hotaruika"
They glow like his hair. That's all I can say as for now
Ortho- "sea angel" or "clione"
He is an angle, but they can change rapidly with their looks to be quite... terrifying.
Malleus- "Nudibranch" or "Umiushi"
He's kind of cute with his personality, actually, he's more fluffy than cute though. They have something that looks like 2 horns.
Lilia- "flapjack octopus" or "mendako"
Like Azul, he is strong, unlike his looks. His hair reminds me of a flapjack octopus.
Silver:"jellyfish" or "kurage"
They're usually kind of white. They can hurt a lot when they attack. Unlike the people in his dorm, he is human so his life expectancy is short compared to them.
Sebek- "crocodile" or "wani"
Probably a reference to Sobek, the Egyptian god. He does remind us of a crocodile/alligator; he eats a lot, his phase in battle, etc.
The ones he adds -kun to (Cater, Jamil, Rook, Sam, and Trey) are a bit... troublesome in some way. I think Floyd sees Twisted Wonderland as the Ocean if you couldn't tell, so if they can go on land, they either know something or correlated in some way to MC/the lands beyond it.
~~~~
I was told to bring this post back by someone... But this is how I think
But Floyd is a lot more observant than most ppl think, and I will post something about that soon
What is happening in the Twst Manga: Episode of Savanaclaw?
Q: Who is the new Yuu and how did they retcon the story to make a new protagonist make sense?
A: The new protagonist is Hirasaka Yuuka. Whereas the previous protagonist, Yuuken, was a Japanese high school student who did kendo, she is a Japanese all-girls high school student who does judo.
She chases an abandoned cat that she was trying to help into a street and wakes up in Twisted Wonderland.
(When the cat runs into the street we see a car coming, but when Yuuka goes after it, it becomes the black carriage that goes to Twisted Wonderland, insinuating that Yuuken might have been hit by a vehicle when crossing the street as well though we never saw the vehicle in question.)
Like Yuuken, Yuuka also wakes up in a coffin that leads her to the Hall of Mirrors during the opening ceremonies. Yuuka explains in narration that she was given permission to live in Ramshackle Dorm with Grim, just like Yuuken had been, and she also experienced the Heartslabyul incident and Riddle’s overblot, off screen.
Q: So what happened to Yuuken?
A: There is no mention of him having ever existed, so this seems like an alternate timeline?
Q: Is Yuuka hiding the fact that she’s female so she can be half a student with Grim in the all-boys school?
A: It’s not specified! Grim probably knows she is female, but there is never―at any point―any mention, whatsoever, of what her gender is or isn’t. Given Leona’s canonical “Women need to be properly respected” mindset from the game it is likely to factor in later on, but as of the first chapter there is no reference to anyone's gender at all :>
Also, the mangaka has changed from Kowono Sumire to Oda Suzuka  (Toboso Yana explains in this tweet that she participated in the drafting and character design herself)
Tumblr media
Q: Why did they change artists?
A: We don’t know! But this is a pattern with Twst, first with the publishing of the Art Gallery book (Twst art by various illustrators) and then the anthology books (short comics by different illustrators), so this just seems to be their thing, possibly as a compromise as it would probably be very difficult for Toboso Yana to do the entire Twst manga while also doing all of Twst ,plus her own series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q: So will they change mangaka with every new arc?
A: We don’t know! We will have to wait and see :>
YUU-SONA/ YUKI-SONA SKETCH DUMP 02
MORE OBEY ME x TWST FeMC CONCEPT ART. FeMC 's name is Yuki.
I like to draw the uniforms for some reason.I colored the clothes nicely but not the hair and eyes cuz coloring with layers and shadows is tedious for me.
Disclaimer: I tend to lose motivation doing full bodies, complex poses and full on shading.
Tumblr media
A. NRC Uniform: 1. Grim's Ribbon Without an official band and badge like the rest of the seven dorms, Yuki made a ribbon similar to Grim to classify themselves as part of Ramshackle House. She bought or asked Sam the fabric pattern that is closely similar to Grim's. Having been enrolled in an all boys school, Yuki was given a uniform that is very big for her. Crowley must have forgotten to alter the right size using magic.
2. Hints of Royal Academy of Diavolo She was wearing RAD's uniform at the time when she woke up in the floating coffin during the orientation so she improvised, wearing RAD's undershirt and belt to at least look decent. If you asked, why not sew or clip it on the back to make it look fitted or asked someone to magically alter it for her... her defense...upon seeing Vil's black undershirt and Ruggie's rolled up sleeves and pants or Jamil's jacket under his school coat and etc. she realized maybe... the school isn't that strict with uniforms. B. RAD's Uniform:
Horn Accessory
Being a human representative at RAD, every demon probably wants to have her as a meal. Hence, she always have those croissant-shaped horns as disguise to make herself look like a demon.
The horns also have some magic essence to fend off hungry demons.
2. White Ribbon
A magical item given by Lucifer along with her DDD upon arriving at the Devildom. It changes color if she ever wanted to call one of her pact demons. Multiple colors can appear depending on which demon she called in her DDD or in general.
3. Bell Pin
Yuki have two bells in possession. One from Lucifer when she arrived at the Devildom as an exchange student for the first time and the other one is from Satan when he and Yuki reunite in Twisted Wonderland after Riddle's overblot.
Satan gave it to her so that Yuki can still use summoning magic in times of need since she lost her magic abilities when she arrived at Twisted Wonderland.
Tumblr media
Janitor Arc Prologue
What's underneath that thick leather RAD coat lolol...I swear seeing the uniform looks so hot (in terms of heat lol)) to wear.
Yuki has no extra casual clothes when she arrived in Twisted Wonderland and being in a world with an actual sun and the fact she was hired as the janitor by Crowley, she got no choice but to roll up her sleeves and clean.
She had that red scar thingie from RAD's uniform to be used to tie her hair since she be cleaning.
This can be her casual clothes at her first few days in NRC.
CASUAL CLOTHES IN THE DEVILDOM
The Devildom is a cold place so she always wear long sleeves and skirt. Didn't draw it but she also had her boots and black leggings
Witch Hat
Yuki owns a blue witch hat when she took a part time job in Akuber.
Solomon's Coat //gasp
Solomon gave one of his extra coats and insisted that it's a uniform to symbolize that they're student and mentor even though they're both exchange students in the Devildom.
Yuki would wear the coat during their study sessions and going outside. She doesn't mind matching clothes with Solomon despite the brothers' protests at first.
Tumblr media
I also drew this cuz sheep mc is so cute and I'm surprised Grim is like 2'2... I wanted to draw Grim but I can't make him cute so need more practice behind the scenes lol
weird question but do you know any place i can find a summary of chapter 5? or if you have one? i dont like vil so i cant really make myself sit and read the whole chapter but i wanna move forward and read chapter 6 but ALSO feel like i should know the important plot points so im not like "wtf is going on"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean 🥲 I don’t like Vil either, but I’d still highly encourage you to read episode 5! Getting a summary isn’t really the same as experiencing the story for yourself; the visuals, songs, and voice acting really helps to sell the emotions and the stakes. Who knows, maybe you’ll leave episode 5 with a little more appreciation for Vil (or the other characters; they all have various cute or heroic moments)? He’ll come back to play a major role in episode 6 anyway, and his character moments won’t hit as hard if you didn’t read 5. For example, there’s a particular line of Rook’s in 5 that Vil repeats in 6 which really hammers home his character development since 5.
… Although I won’t lie, episode 5 has veeery slow pacing because it’s basically one long, dragged out training arc 😂 so I’ll summarize what happens anyway; just know that I’d still recommend actually playing through the story yourself, especially if any of these plot points seem too cool or too interesting to not witness yourself. I’ll be glossing over things that aren’t relevant to the main conflict, so 💦 please keep that in mind!
Sooo Yuu starts off Book 5: A Beautiful Tyrant by finally starting to put the pieces together; they visit the Great Seven statues and confirm their own suspicions that the figures in their dreams are the same as the people depicted in the G7 statues (though their actions are framed as more “evil” in the dreams).
Yuu tells Adeuce and Grim about Mickey! They suggest that Yuu takes a picture of Mickey with the Ghost Camera so they can use it to investigate who or what he is.
There’s a dorm leader meeting to give exposition about an upcoming event. NRC will be having a two-day cultural festival in about two months! They will put on a bunch of activities, as well as showcase their clubs and give presentations on the art and research their students have produced.
One of the biggest events is the Vocal and Dance Championship (VDC). In EN, this has been changed to Song and Dance Championship (SDC), so I will refer to it by the English name to avoid confusion. It’s basically the music industry equivalent to what the Magical Shift/Spelldrive tournament was in episode 2; it’s a golden opportunity to launch many people’s singing careers in the entertainment industry. (A lot of talent agencies will apparently clamor to sign you on for a professional debut if you’re a SDC finalist!) The favorites to win this year are Vil and Neige Leblanche (twisted from Snow White).
I won’t mention every single time this happens, but throughout the chapter Vil has these segments where he asks his phone assistant Mira (TWST Alexa or Siri, basically) who the fairest of them all is. Mira always replies with “Neige Leblanche”, which seems to greatly frustrate Vil.
Anyway, Adeuce and Grim are interested in entering SDC because if the team representing their school makes it to the finals, they’ll get a cash prize of 50,000 thaumarks (5 million madol in JP).
Ace and Grim are pumped about trying out for NRC’s team, but Deuce is hesitant and bails.
The group eats lunch and then chills in the courtyard; it’s here that they hear singing and follow the song. It was Epel who was singing down a well (a Snow White reference), because he thought the well would help project his voice more clearly.
Deuce recognizes Epel as the crying boy he ran into at the end of episode 4! Epel says he recognizes Yuu and co. from the Magical Shift/Spelldrive tournament; he also heard about them from his classmate Jack.
Epel tells them about how his dorm leader Vil wants him to practice singing and that he’ll be a part of the SDC auditions. However, it seems that Epel isn’t eager to do this (which Deuce notices).
Vil comes to check on Epel and catches him talking to Yuu and co,; he is disappointed in Epel for “slacking off” and tries to drag him off. When Epel resists, Vil reminds him of a promise they made, which makes Epel fall into line.
Ace, ever the nosy one, picks a fight with Vil (because he doesn’t think he should be bossing Epel around). Epel begs everyone to not do it, but they fight anyway and Vil is, of course, victorious.
This reinvigorates Deuce’s motivation to be in SDC; he wants to help Epel, who seemed to be so hesitant about taking part.
Adeuce and Grim practice dancing on the basketball court. Here they run into Kalim and Jamil, who are also planning on auditioning since they already enjoy singing and dancing. The Scarabia boys give some pointers on dancing to Adeuce and Grim.
Azul shows up; he needed to find Jamil (they’re classmates) because Professor Trein needed his help with handing papers out. The boys banter a bit and Azul reveals that he was bluffing in episode 4 about live streaming Jamil’s breakdown and OB to the world. Only the Scarabia dorm members are aware of the incident.
Tying up loose ends from the ending of 4!! Kalim was able to convince everyone to let Jamil stay on as vice and to give him a second chance. Jamil claims that he is behaving for now to atone what he did, though he also says he will work hard to prove his worth.
The Scarabia boys tell Adeuce to sign up for SDC auditions via a “Rook Hunt”, who is in class 3-A. They go and do this and uh (well, Leona cameo but that’s not important) 🤡 well, Rook does what he does best and spooks them.
Cut to the VDC auditions! We see other competitors, one of which is Lilia (who delivered a holiday card from “M.D.” to Yuu) and Cater! They share some tea about the mysterious Shroud brothers, who enrolled at the same time and seem to do everything together.
Cater wants to show Grim a video, but he’s forced to sit through an ad first. It’s an advertisement for an apple soda featuring Neige (who, if you’ll recall, is one of the favorites to win SDC).
We get to hear various characters (Cater, Ruggie, Kalim, Jamil, Epel, Ortho, and Lilia) sing part of TWST’s opening song, Piece of My World!
Auditions wrap up and at first Vil wants to pick only the best performers, a she believes this will give him the greatest chance of beating Neige. However, Rook stops him and suggests that he instead pick people who are rough around the edges so Vil can polish them to perfection. Rook points out that he sees a lot of potential in Adeuce in particular.
Rook shoots an arrow at Adeuce with a letter attached to it letting them know they passed auditions, so they should report to Pomefiore dorm. Yuu is also told to come along.
The gang pulls up to Pomefiore and meet Kalim and Jamil there. Turns out the Scarabia duo have also passed!
A bunch of Pomefiore students start attacking them, but they manage to battle their way to Pomefiore’s ballroom where Vil is waiting. This was all a test he arranged so they could prove their worth to him.
So the SDC team is: Vil, Rook, Epel, Jamil, Kalim, Ace, and Deuce.
There’s only a month left until SDC. Crowley wants Yuu to let the NRC team hold their training camp at Ramshackle, since he is convinced that living together will help them build teamwork. He originally thought of holding the camp at Pomefiore, but he didn’t want some students to feel out of their element. They get bribed with a cut of the prize money and the promise of Ramshackle renovations 😂 so Yuu’s like “Okay, sure. C’mon in.”
Everyone moves in, and Vil starts imposing new rules on the SDC team members. For example, he takes away their snacks (including an apple pie and chocolate cake that Trey sent with Adeuce) and says he has designed low calorie yet nutritional meals for them. (I want to be clear here: some people misinterpret this part as “Vil is starving them like Mama Rosehearts starved Riddle!” which is NOT true. Rook says that this is not a diet in that sense, but to help them be in shape. Vil wants them to eat healthily so they can perform at their best.)
Vil gets a phone call from his manager who says he has been offered a role in a biiig movie production… as the villain. The hero for this movie will be played by Neige. Upon learning this, Vil becomes irritated and insists his manager reject the offer. He doesn’t care how much money he could earn from this, he says that all he wants to do is “stand the stage until the very end”. Vil then tells his manager to not contact him again until SDC is over.
It is revealed that the voting for SDC is done via audience poll, not by professional judges. This is an important detail to keep in mind for later.
Vil shows the group an original song (Absolutely Beautiful). In EN, he says he commissioned it but in JP he is more vague with his wording, which has led some fans to conclude that Vil personally worked on producing this song. (Uhhh, they also sing Piece of My World at some point.)
He tries to show them a video to help everyone get a feel for the dance choreography, and another ad featuring Neige plays. The boys talk about how Neige is such a popular celeb these days, and how he’s a student of Royal Sword Academy so that makes him their rival. Vil says something cryptic about how he’ll finally defeat Neige this time.
Vil picks himself, Epel, and Jamil as the main vocalists. Jamil is surprised and starts to say that Kalim should be picked instead of him, but Jamil stops himself and accepts the role.
Epel says he isn’t sure about being picked, but Vil again brings up their promise which makes him comply.
They keep practicing and Epel pisses Vil off when he says the dance is too girly. Vil chews Epel out for having outdated views on gender and then places him on a solo ballet regimen. Deuce asks to join Epel for his ballet lessons!
A ghost delivers 10 crates of apple juice to Epel. This is unsold stock from his family’s business, which is struggling at the moment. They all chill and sip on the apple juice!
Vil interrupts to lecture them on skincare. Ace asks isn’t there magic to make them instantly beautiful? This seems to annoy Vil, who says that he’s not interested in “beauty that only lasts until the strike of midnight”.
Yuu wakes up in the middle of the night to find Kalim singing outside Ramshackle. He confesses that he’s frustrated about not being chosen as a main vocalist. Kalim’s so used to having everything handed to him that the experience of being overlooked surprised him. He says that he wants to try hard so that he will genuinely be picked for something because he’s actually the best choice for it.
It’s revealed that Jamil was listening in on Kalim!
Adeuce sneak bites of Trey’s apple pie and chocolate cake. Vil catches them in the act 🤡 Adeuce suddenly fall over and can’t move!! Vil tells them he put a curse on the baked goods using his unique magic/signature spell. Fairest One of All allows Vil to lay a curse for anything he touches. The conditions he sets must be fulfilled, for even the original caster cannot lift it. (Vil cursed the pie and cake so that if anyone eats it, they cannot move until morning comes.)
Yuu sees Mickey in the mirror again but fails to take a picture of him. They begin to wonder how their original world and Mickey’s may be connected.
This isn’t relevant in the story of 5, but it may be important overall lore-wise. Apparently it is possible to transfer into NRC; Kalim originally did not go to NRC but the dark carriage came for him one month after Jamil enrolled.
Epel becomes frustrated with practice and wants to quit the team. He fights with Vil and loses, prompting Epel to run off.
Deuce suggests maybe Vil be nicer, but Vil snaps that Deuce has no room to be worrying about others or taking back when he’s falling behind the rest of the team. Vil compares Deuce to Ace, saying that the difference between them is too obvious. Ace tells Deuce to focus on himself more, and Deuce gets mad because someone naturally gifted like Ace wouldn’t understand him.
The team is really fractured at this point, so Jamil suggests taking a break. During this break, Rook advises Vil that he show Epel “the power of beauty”, to which Vil agrees.
Rook and Kalim give Deuce a pep talk! It leads Deuce to nabbing a magical wheel (blastcycle?) from Ignihyde and driving himself and Epel to a local beach. (They also see RSA on the way!)
The two shout their frustrations at the sea, and Epel’s dialect comes out full force which shocks Deuce. Epel then explains how he doesn’t want people to underestimate him because of his looks. On his first day (before he was sorted into a dorm), Vil tells him to button up his shirt and comments on his cute face, which causes Epel to instigate a fight.
Vil wins and tells Epel that “the weak obey the strong”, so until Epel is able to beat him, he has to listen to everything Vil says. This explains why Epel usually hides his dialect; Vil says that he doesn’t have a problem with Epel’s love for his hometown, but that there is a time and place for the dialect and his rude attitude. In this case, he must address his superiors properly.
The two first years have a heart-to-heart! Epel talks about wanting to become stronger, and Deuce talks about how how his own strength is how amazingly stupid and stubborn he is.
Epel gets a phone call from his mom!! Their business was suddenly flooded with orders from all over the world, and she says a customer told her it was because of “Vil”, whom Mrs. Felmier recognized as Epel’s dorm leader. She asks him to thank Vil for her.
Vil made a Magicam post featuring the Felmier family apple juice! All of his fans want to try the same juice, so they’re buying it en masse. This is the “power of beauty” Vil wanted to show him, that being beautiful and being strong can be powerful in their own rights, and that until Epel understands that, he can never defeat Vil.
They’re interrupted by some random NPCs that want to ride on Deuce’s (borrowed) ride. The NPCs get aggressive, but Epel is able to catch them off-guard with his cutesy looks. This lets Epel get some hits in!
The NPCs are beating them 😔 but suddenly…?! Deuce’s magical power overflows…!!
We cut to a later point that day when Epel and Deuce return, apologize to Vil, and rejoin the SDC group. Deuce confronts Ace and swears to him that he doesn’t plan on losing to him!
Crowley gives everyone in the team tickets for them to invite people to see the show. Yuu gives their ticket to Malleus.
The cultural festival has arrived at last! Yuu spends some time looking around at the attractions with Grim. We get a bunch of cameos from other characters.
While looking through some of the exhibitions, they see some NRC mob students bullying some short RSA students. The NRC boys intervene, and then Chenya comes to pick up the short kids (which are twisted versions of the Seven Dwarves).
Yuu and co. go to the SDC location (the Purple Stage) for rehearsals. Surprise?! Neige appears!! Vil is curt but professional with him.
NRC does their practice run and, for a brief moment, Vil is considered “most beautiful” (he checks with Mira). Buuut then Neige and the dwarves do their practice run (EN removed the song Minna de Yahoo), and Neige is on top again 😭 (Their performance isn’t even that well-executed, they’re very clumsy and everything. The song also isn’t very unique; it’s an arrangement of a popular children’s song from the Shaftlands. However, it still makes the filming staff feel nostalgic and they gush about how cute Neige is and how pure he makes them feel.)
Vil gets a scary look on his face and leaves; Rook, Kalim, and Jamil notice the look he made 👁️ 👄 👁️ Errr, Vil shatters his phone (“mirror”) in a fit of rage.
Yuu follows Vil backstage because they have a bad feeling. They see Vil offering apple juice from Epel’s family to Neige.
Neige is about to drink it until Rook intervenes and tells him (his “Snow White”) to hurry away because the staff need him. Rook takes the juice for himself and tries to drink it, but then Kalim cuts in and knocks the glass out of his hand.
It starts bubbling on the ground 💀 Vil cursed the apple juice! Kalim says he recognized the face Vil was making; it’s just like Jamil before he went mad over winter break.
Rook says he wanted to drink the juice even knowing it would harm him because he wants to believe that Vil wouldn’t tarnish his beauty and hard work by stooping so low.
The spilled juice vaporizes into a toxic mist, and Vil begins to Overblot 😔 He is different than the previous Overblots in that he is somewhat self-aware of what is happening to him (he shouts at everyone to not look at him, at his “ugliness”; the ugliness here is not literal, Vil is most likely referring to his “ugly” actions (ie the attempt to poison Neige, perhaps even kill him).
Jamil comes on the magic carpet to whisk everyone somewhere safe! He lets them know he used Snake Whisper to get Neige to put on a performance. This performance lured people away to watch him (plus, the first years went around getting rid of loiterers), so the SDC stadium is empty except for OB Vil, Grim, Yuu, and the NRC SDC group.
Deuce saves the day by directing the damage he has taken so far back at Vil…! This is the unique magic/signature spell he unlocked on the beach, Bet the Limit (Double Down in EN).
In the post-OB flashback sequence, we learn that Vil’s dad was a famous actor as well! It seems that Vil has consistently been casted as the villain ever since he started his own acting career. He resents this, because according to him, “a villain never stands on the stage until the very end, they can only watch the happy ending from the sidelines”.
Vil was also bullied in the past, although it is a different kind of bullying than Azul suffered. Other kids assumed he was as cold and cruel as the villains he portrayed in films, dramas, and musicals. (We see young Jack defending Vil!) He worked very hard in hopes of landing a hero role—but he was still never chosen.
Vil wakes up and finds himself upon a ruined Purple Stage. SDC can’t happen like this…
Malleus shows up with his ticket and uses his magic to repair the stage—he came to see their performance, after all. (It is also here when Yuu finally learns who “Tsunotaro/Hornton” truly is.)
SDC happens!! More cameos from characters in the audience as they vote.
RSA wins by one vote. That deciding vote was… Rook! Now, he gets a lot of hate for this move, but 🥲 he explains that he couldn’t lie to himself; he was genuinely moved more by Neige than his own group’s performance. Additionally, he says that even if they technically didn’t win a competition or get the most votes, so long as Vil has the strength to believe in himself… then no matter how old or disheveled Vil is, he will always be fairest of them all.
Vil collapses and cries…
Neige comes over and??? Turns out that Rook is a HUGE Neige fan 😂 (When first moving into Ramshackle, Vil remarks on a thick book Rook brought with him. They never looked at what was inside, but it was a bunch of Neige bromides.) Neige says he recognized Rook as his fan (“R”) because Rook called him “Snow White”.
Aaand Neige says everyone should sing together :)) (Again, this was removed from EN.) Vil suffers a lot :)))
Crowley is mulling over another loss to RSA and encounters its headmaster, Ambrose the 63rd (twisted from… Merlin???). Ambrose remarks that he senses strong magic in the area (probably residual from either Malleus or OB Vil) and that he’ll have to keep an eye on Crowley’s students.
Yuu finally grabs a picture of Mickey, but then notices Grim is missing so they leave to find him.
They see Grim on the Purple Stage eating Vil’s OB stone. When Grim notices Yuu there, he attacks them.
We finish off on a preview to Ignihyde. Idia gave a presentation at the cultural festival that made a lot of people interested in having him as an intern. Ortho offers to read the email opportunities to him, but in a resigned tone, Idia says to delete them all because he thinks he “doesn’t belong anywhere” so it’s not worth trying to.
i have this idea for a yuu that was immortal in their world. like; a yuu that was born somewhere along 927 AD (when England was founded) with VERY good memory.
obviously 927AD is very long ago so this yuu is old as hell but eternal life and eternal youth makes people think they're still 17-20 ish and they don't talk like an old person. this yuu isn't a boomer because they've been existing for so long and have changed with the times and stuff.
i like to imagine this yuu living through many significant events in history, befriending important figures and acquiring a superiority complex over time. so when they arrive in twisted wonderland they adapt super quickly and have a lot of interesting stories to tell.
like sometimes in history class they're talking about some war and yuu just chimes in with; "damn, this sounds like the hundred years war, can't be sure though i wasn't there for this one— not my world" and everyone just brushes it off like they're joking because they're a magicless human and stuff.
immortal!yuu also has a field day telling stories to their friends like one day they tell the adeuce duo +grim about the prohibition era while drinking canned beer that they pulled from god knows where. also probably told epel stories about when they were a pirate for a while. yeah only the first years +staff know about yuu's immortality, dorm leaders have a more comedic way of finding out.
in the rose red tyrant arc yuu makes a passing comment about how pre-overblot heartslabyul kind reminds them of the great terror with the "OFF WITH YOUR HEADS" flying around with less actual decapitation. at the revenge unbirthday party they ask yuu what they were talking about and yuu tells them about the french revolution in a very nonchalant way.
also when they talk about Robespierre they let a "i've met him by the way, he was kinda cool when he was younger but he turned creepy when he started to play god," slide by and the guys just have to do a double take because EXCUSE ME PREFECT DIDN'T YOU SAY THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN A HUNDRED YEARS AGO??
this yuu is also really good at almost everything because immortality made them so bore that they decided to just randomly learn how play the hyperbass flute and do the cha cha slide. and that's where i'll end it have to go practice guitar now bye
What if we tossed a very soft and motherly MC into Ramshackle with all the swap boys??
Swap AU time! Everybody gets in on this!!
Swap!Grim: Can you be hench-human if he is also human...? Has a whole rivalry arc with you where everyone just thinks you're the housewarden of Ramshackle and he tries getting the title from you, but eventually grows more and more tsundere until he just lets you run things and love on him. Also you're head cook of Ramshackle, no ifs ands or buts.
Swap!Yuu: Thanks whatever god exists in Wonderland for your presence. Such a tired kitty cat, needs all the help and love they can get. Flops on your lap from time to time and asks for pats
Swap!Riddle: At first tries to be his usual self, but the instant you show him genuine affection, he's a GONER. Cries a little when you hold him and pat his head or help him with his strict influencer schedule and probably lets you get away with quite a lot.
Swap!Cater: Oh lord, he needs that love and support. He's pretty much been Cinderella all his life, please give him some assistance with whatever someone else has been asking him to do for them. He said no pickles
Swap!Trey: You're his role model, and goodness he's gonna need you helping him. He tries to get you to teach him so much stuff about how to properly care for others, and he follows you around like a lost little puppy dog. Really wants to help you with things, too. Something too high or too heavy? Big excitable himbo is here to help! Don't worry, he'll keep his teasing to a minimum.
Swap!Deuce: Tries to butter you up for treats and affection and you know it. A mama's boy through and through. You're very patient and loving, but you have nerves, and he IS on them. Frequently. Pouts to you all the time when something doesn't go right.
Swap!Ace: This absolute H*rry P*tter npc ass boy can go suck a DI beat himself over the head with his textbooks. Just because you're all soft and sweet doesn't mean he's nice to you.
Swap!Leona: Single father of entire dorm desperately needs a co-parent, he will actively pay you. Agree to help him take care of his pack and you'll immediately be compensated with the wholehearted respect and adoration of about 400+ huge animal jocks. Completely respects your hustle as the parent/therapist of all of NRC and will actually defend you if he hears someone talking shit.
Swap!Ruggie: Tries to swindle food and love off you, but if he ever sees that you're getting attached, he might start showing his appreciation a little. Maybe will do you a couple favors, as long as he can shrug it off as being solely in his own interests.
Swap!Jack: Is not a good puppy. Try to wake him up early so he can go to school on time and he'll hate you. Regular mean teenager, needs a scolding. Or a chancla to the tail if you can run fast.
Swap!Azul: Get in the (unisex) maid outfit NOW. You are being employed, do not resist. Your vibes are impeccable, and must be utilized to boost morale for maximum benefits. Also likes to squeeze you because he thinks you're soft and warm, hope you like being the boss's favorite! And also the rapidly changing environment (and moods)! Buff octopus, collecting sweetie pies for snuggles like pokemon, and that includes you.
Swap!Floyd: Ah yes, his favorite teasing subject. He chooses to be a menace in the most affectionate way possible. Will do random (unasked) favors for you and expect lots of love in return. He's like a loan shark, but for hugs and pats.
Swap!Jade: Please let him lay on your lap and be petted while he rambles about his mushrooms. He will cry if you do AND if you don't, one is just better crying than the other. If you give him anything related to mushrooms or tell him something you found out about them on your own, he will love you forever and ever. Will try to get you good deals on whatever Azul has decided to put the Mostro brand toward at the moment, but will get very shy when asked about it.
Swap!Kalim: Is suspicious of you at first, who ISN'T he suspicious of, but he warms up to you faster than most, and eventually you'll be on his "protect at all costs" list. He adores you, really. Being in your presence gives him a rare feeling of safety and peace, and he can't possibly thank you enough for that. Kalim finds boundless comfort in you. Anything you need, you come to him.
Swap!Jamil: Though at first a little wary, after saving (or cowering with) him from the terror that is a stray kitchen spider, he puts his trust in you. You two do chores and gossip together all the time, and Jamil finds that being around you makes his cheer less of a front to cope and instead much more genuine. His smiles are a lot softer and laughter comes so much easier, he just finds that life can actually be pleasant for once.
Swap!Vil: Snatched. Completely and utterly snatched. Some people call kidnapping "surprise adoption", but this is entirely reversed. He will hold you hostage and force you to sign up for adopting him. He will do everything short of overtly harassing you for affection. You WILL get Rook'd. If you're the type of person to say "I can fix him", it's already too late. He has you in his clutches.
Swap!Rook: You are the sole semblance of comfort in this poor jungle boy's world. He looks at you like a dog in an ASPCA ad. Rook will come up to you like a baby deer whose lost its family. If you express interest in helping him get back to his natural habitat Savanaclaw, he will forever hear angel choirs when you enter his field of vision. You're the only one he willingly lets give affection to him. He loves you so much
Swap!Epel: Ah yes, tsundere time. He'll try to bully you, keyword try, and fail miserably. He showed up on your doorstep with some expensive apple-scented beauty products as """a much needed way to improve yourself so nothing further can be said""" aka an apology. He tries his best to befriend (which he denies) and "improve" you. I sincerely hope you have a lot of tolerance for this.
Swap!Idia: More reverse adoption, here we go. He sees you, gets a read on your personality, and just plops you down in front of Ortho. If you do manage to befriend the baby, you will 100% befriend the robot soon after. He tries to accommodate you, and learn from how you treat others and Ortho. If there's ever something you want to know more about, he's your bot!
Swap!Ortho: Oh this baby needs a loving parent. This poor little boy will cling to you with all he has. You're the only one other than Idia he lets into his room, because you're also the only one who doesn't really spook him. It's like having a nervous cat, but with a 16 year old gamer.
Swap!Malleus: INTO THE CUDDLE HOARD WITH YOU, CHILD OF MAN. REJOICE. Instantaneous adoption the MINUTE you show him some gentleness, you are now a member of Diasomnia. Despite how loud and self-aggrandizing he is, he is very, very gentle with you. Treats you like glass all the time and wants you to rely on him (not like he doesn't do that already with the guard squad). Did he adopt you, or did he want you to adopt him? Either way, he takes a lot of comfort in the moments where you just lay him down and shower him in affection, it makes the world around him feel less fragile and claustrophobic. He likes to curl up next to you and make himself feel small.
Swap!Lilia: OUGH. Your shared vibes, UNMATCHED. UNPARALLELED. WITHOUT EQUAL. Casts a 500m calming effect on any living entity in range. Holy shit. The softness. The love. The cozy home feel. Just you two being in the same room starts repairing the tears in reality and fixes tragic backstories, not to mention when you start a chill conversation or share stories together.
Swap!Silver: By nature, he's just a goofy prankster, but he treats you nicely like his father. His various tricks tend to be funny for the both of you or even downright helpful, and he likes to show off his tricks for you. The most harm he'll ever do is give you a good spook by showing up out of nowhere. He might pester you more than Lilia though, because he can count on you being awake! Certified little scamp.
Swap!Sebek: Your vibes have been approved, have a nice day. He's chill and you vibe together, maybe wander around campus a bit, all in all no notes.
With the weird and confusing update of the game, I think it's time to bring up all of Yana's writing flaws. I can't comment on Black Butler. I haven't read it since I was a teenager, so commenting on that would be unfair. But for twst? I've also noticed that…
She has that same tendency to throw shit at the wall without thinking about how it affects the story she has set up.
It genuinely seems like she has no end goal in mind for TWST. (As a side note, I was talking with another friend who knows a lot more about Black Butler about this topic before. She said that it's the same for Black Butler as well. That's a big reason why she dropped the manga ages ago. With that manga going on forever and needing to end a long time ago, I believe her.)
The worldbuilding is sloppy and sticks far too close to real life. It also doesn't make any sense when you stop and think about it. (Which is a big reason why I came up with my own).
She frequently sets things up and forgets about them, dropping them completely. (Vil and Jack's friendship, Jamil bringing up that he has items to cure poison in Pomefiore, the fact that Vil has martial arts knowledge, etc.)
She sticks way too closely to the plot of the corresponding Disney movie, even when it doesn't fit HER own plot or characters. The most obvious example is during Book 2 Leona plans to take out Malleus with the stampede in order to possibly win the tournament. This plot point is ripped straight out of The Lion King where Scar does the same thing to Mufasa. But, that makes no sense when applied to TWST. Scar was able to do that in The Lion King, because they are just both normal lions. Whereas in TWST, Malleus is one of the most powerful mages in the world, who can just teleport away. The fact that Leona, who is really smart in the rest of the game, never ONCE considered this is mind-boggling. But yet she forced it in to be just like the movie. There are many other examples of this as well. (Jamil being after the dorm leader position, the beginning of Ignihyde where Idia kidnaps everyone, etc.)
She also loves turning her characters into idiots to force her plots to work. Like in Ignihyde, Idia kidnaps everyone in broad daylight. One, that's an awful bold and stupid move for one of the smartest characters in the game. He should know better. If he didn't have plot armour and his family's influence, he would've gotten arrested. Two, Vil is a trained martial artist and Jamil took out assassins. Why didn't they just kick their asses or kill them, even with their magic deflecting armour? The only reason I can think of is "the plot needed to happen, and this was the only way how". Again, there are other examples of this. (Leona and Ruggie during Book 2, Vil not undoing the aging spell himself when he's a potions master, etc.)
All of the characters are completely static. They don't change or grow like well rounded characters should. The overblot gang never face zero repercussions for their actions, thus making them never grow or learn anything. (You would think they'd want revenge, since they are twisted from Disney villains, especially in Ruggie's case, since Leona almost MURDERED his ass.) Unless you are writing a flat arc, characters MUST grow or change by the end. It can be for the better. It can be for the worst. But there MUST be some sort of change within the major character. Otherwise what the fuck is the point?
Malleus acts like a Deus-Ex Machina where he swoops in and saves the day, even at the expense of the other character's intelligence. (Endings of Books 5 and 6).
She's horrible at foreshadowing. Huge plot beats like what the deal is with Grim and Crowley are hardly alluded to and brought up far too late for them to be affective.
She picks favourites. She loves showering them with screen time while neglecting others.
The pacing issues. Just the pacing issues.
Over all, one of my friends told me her writing feels like a first draft. I a 1000% agree. Her works have a lot of good ideas. However, Yana REALLY must go back and finetune her works in order to make them up to snuff.
However, with all this said, these are all issues that I want to correct in my works. While I'm an amateur and not an amazing writer myself, I still want to try and do better.
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº Minako ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
It’s hot. The Scottish Highlands were rarely this hot.
The pavement was hard, her clothes were chafing against her sweaty skin, and the sun was beating down on her. What was she even doing lying on the ground?
Her hand reached up to wipe the moisture off her cheeks, only to pick up a much stickier substance on her fingers. Dark as the ebony of her wand did she see on her skin.
Cursed ink.
Her head turned to the side ever so slowly. The pool of ink drew her attention first. With her gaze following the trail, a little ways away she found…
Willoughby? His two flunkies were there too, out cold on the pavement surrounded by puddles of ink.
Did I… did I do that?
Ink clouded her vision, and the temperatures rose.
Hot! It’s too hot! Minako craved so badly to scratch the forming rash on her neck, but her arms felt like they were being pinned down.
Her vision cleared, and her eyes met the sun once more. The wind was so strong that she could hear it howling in her ears. There was a significant change of the scenery. Where the humble buildings of Hogsmeade once stood, there were towering boulders resting on a lush green field. A massive rock cliff loomed over Minako like some beast, and she was among the many animals that flocked to it like a herd of sheep.
A figure walking on all fours emerged at the top of the cliff. As the figure neared the edge to perch on it, Minako finally made out that it was a lion with its chest puffed with pride. Following close behind him was a mandrill and a lioness.
The mandrill walked ahead of them now, much nearer to the rock’s peak than the pair of lions. The mandrill turned to face the world, a lion cub resting in his arms. His arms thrusted high into the air, the cub presented to the land and heavens.
A ruckus of shrieks from the monkeys, the stomping of hooves from zebras or giraffes, the trumpeting of the elephants, and whatever noises the animals could make sounded throughout the land. Minako could only guess that this cacophony was their way of cheering. As tolerant as she was to the various noises that animals produced, even a Magizoologist could only take so much.
Fortunately, they all faded into nothingness and the images along with it. The sound of Grim’s snoring reminded her that she was back in her dorm.
It was nearly October. Nearly a month since she landed herself in another dimension. It was only six in the morning and Minako was already having her weekly crisis on how her family was doing. Her head throbbed.
Do they even know that I’m missing?
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Minako went back to attending her classes in a more well-fitted uniform, some money in her pockets after her first shift at Sam’s shop, and with a lavish school bag hanging on her shoulders, courtesy of Professor Crewel. The bag, while pricey, was modest and practical in design, but most importantly, Crewel’s signature was sewn on the inside rather than the outside for the world to see.
Whether you were a student in a co-ed school or the only girl in a boys’ school, letting your classmates know that your teacher is doing favours for you can make you a target. Minako has consumed enough drama series and involuntarily listened to the gossip of Hogwarts to know this quite well.
Minako had noticed how much shorter the days have gotten, and it wasn’t just the gradual transition to autumn. Half the day went by in a blur, and the next thing she knew, it was already lunchtime.
“Man, Professor Trein was definitely putting a sleep spell on me,” Grim whined as they made it to the cafeteria. “I did my best to stay awake, but I kept nodding off.”
“By ‘did my best,’ do you mean passing out within the first five minutes of class?” Minako scoffed.
“So, what’s cooking today? I’m starving!” There was a skip in Ace’s step as he grabbed himself a tray. He craned his neck, looking over the chaotic cluster of teenage boys by the buffet line clamouring like a pack of wild animals. “What’s with the long line?”
A cafeteria ghost hovered over to answer him, “A popular bakery is making their monthly promotions at our school. We have all of their goods on sale. You better hurry if you want any because they sell out fast!”
“I want three of those chocolate croissants!” came the excited demand of one student.
Another student walked away from the line with glee, sandwich box in hand. “Awesome! I  managed to snag an egg salad sandwich.”
There was indeed a variety of decadent bakery goods that the ghosts were serving up. Cookies, pastries, rolls, sandwiches, cakes, pies. The options were mouthwatering.
“Egg salad sandwiches are all sold out. Only one deluxe menchi katsu sandwich left,” announced the cafeteria ghost.
Ace grinned as he looked over the buffet table. “This is some top-grade stuff. I think I’ll treat myself today.”
“They must be really good if everyone’s kicking up a fuss to get something,” Deuce agreed, squeezing himself into the line. “Minako, Grim, is there anything you guys want… What the?!”
Confused at first by Deuce’s look of shock, Minako raised a brow. But then the lack of whining and prattling from a certain cat hit her, and she came to a sudden realization that Grim had left her side.
She smacked her forehead and dragged her hand down her face. “Why am I not surprised?”
And of course the glutton that was Grim gave himself away with his hollering. “Out of my way! That menchi katsu sandwich belongs to me!”
Making his way to the front of the line—if you could call hopping, kicking, or even shoving anyone in his path that—was Grim.
“There he goes again with his one-track mind about food,” Deuce sighed.
“Hey, watch it!”
“You got some nerve cutting in line, freshman!”
“Sorry!” Minako rushed over and caught Grim by the back of his bow tie who squirmed in protest. “You need to learn how to wait in line, Mister.”
Ace shook his head at him. “Geez, you never learn.”
A few hiccups and a short squabble later, the four of them managed to squeak by getting their hands on their own lunches.
“Score! The last menchi katsu sandwich is mine!” Grim twirled on his hind feet, dancing victoriously and holding up his sandwich box like a trophy. “I even managed to snag a yakisoba dog and this custard cream bun!”
“Happy now? We almost got our teeth knocked out,” Minako huffed as she smoothed down her sleeves. She managed to escape the mob of rabid boys with a bag of freshly baked spinach puffs and a melon bread.
“What’s new? This is Grim almost every day.” Ace glared down at a blissfully oblivious Grim.
“There’s an empty table over there. We should hurry before someone takes it,” Deuce said.
Still high from his win, Grim let out another boisterous bout of laughter. “I’ll be sure to savour the sweet taste of victory!”
“Excuse me, my friend,” a new and unfamiliar voice popped up that reached Minako’s ears. “I see you’ve got one of those delicious deluxe menchi katsu sandwiches.”
Uh oh. That sounds like trouble. Minako could just hear the mischief dripping from this bloke’s tone. She turned around to take a good look at this newcomer. Judging from the yellow waistcoat, this boy was from Savanaclaw. He was fair-skinned, a tad shorter than both Ace and Deuce but still a fair bit taller than her, and had fluffy, sandy-blonde hair where a pair of hyena’s ears rested.
“Yeah, so what?” Grim frowned at him and jerked his sandwich box from his reach. As he should because the stranger was eyeing his lunch.
There was an impish gleam in the Savanaclaw student’s eyes, and when he smiled, his tiny fangs poked out. “Help a brother out, if you would be so kind? You see, I need that sandwich, but they sold out in a snap.”
“Well, you snooze you lose. Later.” Grim attempted to escape the conversation, but the stranger blocked his way.
“Come on, I’ll trade you this red bean bun for that sandwich.” The boy offered up quite a stale-looking anpan. What was he even planning with that proposition? Unsurprisingly, Grim looked none too pleased with the offer.
“Yeah, no. Even Grim won’t fall for that,” Minako remarked out loud as she approached the stranger from behind.
Tumblr media
The Savanaclaw student whirled around in surprise, shocked that someone had caught him in the act. He quickly composed himself and feigned an innocent look.
“Hey, look. I was just having a friendly chat.”
“Oh?” Minako sent him an equally ‘innocent’ smile. “Didn’t look like it to me.”
In the hopes of becoming a Prefect or better yet, the Head Girl, Minako had picked up some of the mannerisms of her prefects. One of them famously used a particular smile that sent students both young and old to scatter so that they could clear a path for her. It was an expression that said, ‘Don’t think I won’t disembowel you if you cross that line.’
And it seemed that the prefect had taught Minako well, judging from how the boy was sweating. Admitting defeat with his shoulders slumped, the student sauntered away to who knows where,
There was a fleeting feeling of guilt that trickled its way into Minako’s head as she watched the boy’s retreating form. She could say that she almost felt bad for him. Almost.
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
As soon as Minako and Grim sat down at their table, Ace hit her with a question, “Uh, what have you been doing?”
“Hm?” Minako was slow on the uptake, too hungry to pay attention.
“Just a few minutes ago, you were kind of emanating a dark aura.”
“Oh,” Minako realized. “I stopped a would-be thief. Nothing special. Although, I was surprised he didn’t even put up a fight.” Not that she was looking for a fight, she was just perturbed by the lack of retaliation.
“Well, obviously not. You’re a girl,” said Deuce.
Minako cocked her head, feeling offended. “Excuse me?”
“It’s not what you think!” Ace hastily soothed her with a wave of his hand. “What are the beastfolk like in your world?”
“We don’t have beastfolk,” Minako answered. “We have half-breeds like half-giants or half-Veelas.”
“They’re not the same.”
“Right, my bad.”
Come to think of it, the beastfolk of Twisted Wonderland did not match Minako’s description of what a beastfolk would look like. She thought that they would look more… well, beast-like with animalistic visages and thick layers of fur on their bodies. What she came upon instead were ninety percent human features with the other ten percent being a pair of animal ears and a tail.
“What’s the big deal about my henchwoman being a girl?” Grim said, his words coming out muffled from the big bite he had taken out of his sandwich.
“Don’t you know? Beastfolk kind of have their own principles,” said Deuce.
Obviously. With different species come different cultures, and with different cultures come different ethics.
“I don’t know if it’s like this with every kind of beastman in the world, but I’ve yet to meet a beastman who didn’t hold women in the highest regard,” Ace explained.
“It’s kind of their first amendment,” Deuce supplied.
Minako had a thought back to that leonine beastman, the Dorm Leader of Savanaclaw, that time in the Botanical Garden. The vice-like squeeze that he gave her wrist, his angry, green eyes that bore into her like he knew that something was clearly wrong with her. She wondered if she misread him that time. She knew that sometimes, some people present themselves as frightening without meaning to.
Well, I guess I’d be pissed too if someone trampled on my tail… and my foot. Minako inwardly cringed. She hoped for the best when she faced him again, which won’t be long since she’s a dorm leader and had to go to a meeting for some kind of inter-dorm tournament after classes were done.
Speaking of which… “Hey, so explain to me what this Magical Shift sport is about?” she asked. “I never got the chance to ask when you mentioned it.”
Ace blinked. “Why are you asking all of a sudden?”
“Crowley told me that I had to go to a Dorm Leader meeting for the upcoming tournament.”
Crowley had brought up the meeting to Minako last weekend as a way to divert the subject when she asked him if he had made any progress about getting her home. As if there were any worse liars than the Headmaster. He couldn’t hide how he squirmed like a maggot and looked anywhere but at her when she continued to pester him. Eventually, he managed to successfully boot her out of his office.
“It’s a pretty popular sport. They even have pro leagues and an annual World Cup,” said Deuce.
Minako nodded in a polite way saying that it was obvious. “So do other popular sports.”
“I’ve never heard of it either!” Grim hopped a little on his seat.
“Magical Shift is also called Magift for short and there are some people who prefer to call it Spelldrive,” Ace explained. “To put it plainly, two teams of seven play against each other by gaining control of a disk and score points by driving into the opposing team’s goal. You can do this on brooms or on foot, and the team that scores the most points win the game.”
“Oh, so it is like Quidditch, but less confusing.” Minako beamed. Maybe she might like playing Magift if she got the chance to.
“Oh yeah, you said something about that before. Are you going to show us how to play Quidditch anytime soon?” asked Ace.
Minako shrugged. “Maybe. If I figure out how to make the Snitch and the Bludgers.” Thankfully, Quaffles were almost no different from any Muggle football and therefore, easy to obtain. “And be warned: I play rough.”
“Pfft! Big deal. Playing Magift is pretty rough.”
“Anyway, Magift,” Deuce got them back on track. “You’re required to carry the disk using magic and use spells to attack or defend against your opponents.”
“People know that you’re a skilled player just by how flashy you can get with your spells,” Ace added. “You should see it for yourself live. It’s insane out there on the field.”
“You get to use magic other than your brooms?” Minako’s eyes widened. Why didn’t they get to do that in Quidditch?
“You don’t… use magic in Quidditch?”
“No. In Quidditch, speed and strategy matters. Sometimes, you’ll find that we try to knock people off their brooms while we’re flying a hundred feet in the air.” Granted, Minako was one of those players, even in her Little League days.
Ace and Deuce gulped.
“Even we don’t fly that high in Magift. You must have balls of steel if you’re a part of your school’s Quidditch team,” Deuce stated with a nervous smile.
“I’m actually… not a part of the Quidditch team anymore,” Minako sheepishly confessed. “I used to be, but now I just play it casually with my friends and family.” It didn’t turn out all that bad when she later got involved with the Duelling Club instead.
With a mischievous grin and cadence to his voice, Ace asked her, “What happened?”
Minako groaned. “I got into a fight with another student.” Fucking Warren Willoughby. “Then I took a bludger to the face mid-punch.”
Oh, the irony. Her, a beater, beaten by a bludger.
Ace screeched out a laughed, satisfied with the answer. “Miss Goody Two-shoes here has got a lot more in common with Loosey-Deucey than I thought!”
“Ace!” Deuce scolded him.
In retaliation, Minako kicked Ace’s leg under the table, ceasing his laughter and turning it into a yelp.
There was more to the story really. Her second year in Hogwarts introduced the worst of Minako’s behaviour. She had yet to process her parents’ deaths and the family curse, but make no mistake, her actions were still a hundred percent her fault. Passing the tryouts was easy, but consistently showing good sportsmanship during a stressful game in front of the whole school was mentally taxing. Willoughby provoked her first, but she was still stirring the pot with him and was the first to throw a punch. It was then her teachers decided that perhaps she was better off not being a part of the team both for her sake and the rest of the players. Fair enough.
“Anything more I need to know?” Minako asked.
“Actually, yeah,” Deuce piped up. “When you have prestigious schools like NRC, their annual tournaments are public-wide events to attract pro league recruiters who scout for promising young magicians. Every year, when I watch it on TV, the people there are in a frenzy.”
“TV? It’s that big of an event that it’s broadcasted live?” Minako gaped. Yeah, this was nothing like Quidditch. Even Quidditch World Cups don’t get this much attention.
Ace nodded with a smirk. “Worldwide.”
“Worldwide?” Grim parroted, looking more invested in the conversation. “So you mean if I play in the tournament, people all over the world will see it?”
“Grim, our dorm can’t play,” Minako shot him down. Sorry, Grim.
“What?” Listen closely, and you can hear Grim’s heart shattering.
Deuce flinched at just how blunt that statement was. “You really don’t hold your punches.”
“It’s the truth. The Headmaster said that we don’t have enough players.”
Like a toddler, Grim flopped face-down on Minako’s lap and began to weep. “It’s not faaaaaiir! I want to be on TV and have my adoring fans scream my name and shout about how cool I am!”
Ace rolled at his eyes at his childish behaviour. “Seven, you’re delusional. You didn’t even know what Magift is until now.”
“It might be possible that you’ll get new students at Mugglesworth next year,” Deuce reassured.
“Am I even going to be here next year?” asked Minako.
Grim sobbed even harder.
Feeling bad, Minako gave Grim a sympathetic pat on the head. “It’s not the end of the world, Grim. We have other things to do during the tournament anyway. I promised to help Crewel with the recovery potions, so I saved us the trouble of not selling drinks at the arena.”
Unsurprisingly, it didn’t help. “That isn’t any better! Man, this sucks!”
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº Ruggie ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Damn it!
Pent-up with frustration, Ruggie swung his foot to kick a pebble aside on his way to the Botanical Garden. Of all the people who had caught him in the act, it had to be that new girl. She was just a human and yet, she had a presence that felt no different to any woman he’s met in the Afterglow of Savannah. That smile of hers was nothing friendly.
And her smell. Seven, it made his hair stand on end. She smelled like… like…
“Oi, Ruggie. I don’t smell that katsu sandwich I ordered.” The sound of Leona’s voice was chilling to hear, grogginess from a mid-morning nap aside.
Before he knew it, Ruggie had already made it to the Botanical Garden with no deluxe sandwich in hand. Only a pathetic red bean bun that had already gone stale and was actually his own lunch.
Ruggie clicked his tongue, wanting to vent his frustration a little. “They ran out alright. It’s your fault for always ordering the most popular thing on the menu.”
Over the years of being Leona’s lapdog, Ruggie has grasped a way of wording his snide remarks without losing the perks of being his right-hand man. With someone as apathetic as Leona, he found that he can be more loose with his jeers as long as he remained useful, and he gets compensation in cash. Call it a nice little stress ball for all the chores he kept dumping on him. Eat the rich, right?
The second prince of the Afterglow of Savannah yawned and rose to sit up from his designated napping spot where apparently the grass was softer. He’s been sleeping there all morning, hasn’t he? There went his one-day streak of no missed classes.
“Idiot. The harder it is to get, the more you want it.” Leona scowled.
Ruggie rolled his eyes at the nonsensical reasoning of a privileged guy. “Anything that’s edible and not mouldy is good food to me. But of course a prince like you wouldn’t know shit about it.”
Leona shot back with a scoff, “Just remember that I’m not the crown prince. I can’t become king no matter how badly I want to be. I’m not so different from the common folk.”
“‘Not so different’ my ass! You saw a photo of my house, and you thought it was a doghouse.” Ruggie clenched his fist then unclenched it.
“Did I say that?” Leona casually leaned back against the trunk of a tree. He didn’t seem guilty about that time in the least.
“You have no idea how badly anyone in my neighbourhood would want to live in a palace as big as yours.” And just for one day, Ruggie would like this brat of a prince to live in the slums like he did. See if he thinks that he lives like a commoner having to scrape for food and not knowing when your next pay cheque was going to come in.
“Royal life isn’t all that great,” Leona argued. “It doesn’t matter how talented or hard-working you are. Whether you’re born first or not is the only thing that counts.”
That reminds me… There was a time when Ruggie’s grades were at an all-time low. Between his low-budget schooling and side jobs, maintaining a balanced life was impossible. He and his grandma were starving, so less of his time was spent on his classes and more on hustling until he was too tired to even think about school. Nudging his way into Leona’s inner circle was completely on accident, but it had been his most beneficial event of his life. Not only did he get paid for looking after the prince, he got access to study guides and tutoring that significantly boosted his academic scores. Leona himself showed him the ropes on how to ace a test and the correct methods on brewing a potion.
It was clear that Leona had a brilliant mind that Ruggie knew for a fact was nurtured through the prince’s own hard-earned effort. Where did all of that motivation go?
“So what happened with my lunch? Couldn’t take it from someone with your sticky little fingers?” Leona snorted condescendingly. “You must be losing your mojo, Ruggie.”
“I ain’t losing anything! I almost had one, but that new girl got in my way.”
Leona was silent for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. Then he said to him, “You smelled her, didn’t you?”
So he knew.
“I ran into her a few weeks ago. Stepped on my tail while I was napping,” Leona explained.
“Wait. I thought someone stepped on your toes.” Ruggie recalled how he caught Leona yelping in pain as he held his swelling foot.
“That too. This time on purpose so she could run away.”
Now it was Ruggie’s turn to laugh at him. “You probably scared her. And here I thought you were extra nice to girls.”
“Shut up. I ain’t extra nothing to nobody!” Leona vehemently denied. “That new Dorm Leader may look harmless, but there’s something off about her.”
“Yeah, definitely.” Ruggie shuddered at the thought of the girl’s smile.
The new Prefect resembled that of a porcelain doll on the surface, but they say that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Even so, it’s hard to mask the scent of blot from beastfolk. That girl was definitely hiding something.
“Speaking of Dorm Leaders,” Ruggie said, “you have a meeting about the Magical Shift Tournament after school. You better not miss it.”
Leona grumbled, closing his eyes and ready to take another nap. “Ugh, what a pain.”
“Hey, you’ve got all the nice perks of your position, so act like you deserve it!”
“Fine, I’ll go.” Leona huffed and turned to his side. “Get me something else that’s nice and hot. Make sure it’s loaded with meat and that you get here before lunch is over.”
“What? There’s probably nothing left in the cafeteria. Leona? Leona?” Ruggie called out to him.
“Zzz…” Dead asleep.
“I’m not your damn alarm clock,” Ruggie muttered as he hurried back to the main building with a fleeting feeling of hope that there was still something good enough left at the buffet to satisfy his picky dorm leader.
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº Minako ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Prefect was a title that Minako had always yearned for, other than Head Girl, but never got. She was sure that Professor Hallowswift liked her enough, but she often expressed how the curse got in the way of Minako becoming a proper leader for Slytherin. No matter how stellar her grades were or how much the younger Slytherins looked up to her, there will always be that thorn in Minako’s side.
But this time… this time she has a chance to prove her skills as a Prefect, no, Dorm Leader. She’d be the youngest Dorm Leader this year for sure, but Riddle definitely knew what that was like for him last year.
“Nervous?” Riddle asked her.
“A little.” Minako wrung the end of her tie for the umpteenth time before smoothing out the wrinkles of her shirt. Maybe wearing her space buns was a bad idea for the meeting.
“Your tie is crooked. Let me fix it.” Riddle moved to undo her Windsor knot.
“Really?” Minako glanced down to look at her tie, feeling embarrassed. “I thought for sure that I did it right—” She paused, deciding not to resist Riddle doing a favour for her.
Tumblr media
Minako decided to change topics. “It must be hard being the only head of your dorm. Hogwarts has a vastly different prefect system.”
“Oh really?” Riddle quirked a brow.
“Yes. We have six Prefects for each house and two Head Students for the whole school in addition.”
Riddle paused for a beat of one second before speaking up again. “Just how many dorms do you have?”
“Four.”
“Four…” Riddle gripped his chin, murmuring numbers under his breath before switching back to a much louder volume. “That makes twenty-four prefects!”
“And a Head Girl and Head Boy that lead the Prefects as well as the rest of the students. That would make twenty-six school leaders,” Minako sardonically added. Just because she wanted to be a prefect, that doesn’t mean she wasn’t allowed to make fun of the system sometimes. “I mean having more than one prefect is fine, but I think six is a little excessive. And Hogwarts is the one with fewer students attending than NRC. Maybe it’s because we’re always taking in rambunctious eleven-year-olds every year.”
Riddle sighed. “Eleven seems a bit too young to be living away from your parents in a boarding school, don’t you think? Especially when they’re lumped with other students on the cusp of becoming adults themselves.”
“It’s normal where I’m from, even with some Muggles.” Minako shrugged. “Well, I guess it used to be worse back then since Hogwarts would take in just about any child with magic, some of which who knew virtually nothing about the Wizarding Community and were suddenly thrust into a strange new world without their parents.”
Muggle-borns like her could have been just as ill-prepared as them had it not been for the Muggle-born program that opened fifteen years ago.*
“So, you really do live in secrecy from the magicless,” Riddle stated plainly.
“Yeah, mostly. I guess I never told you about that, didn’t I?”
“You can tell me about it later. The meeting is about to start.”
Minako felt Riddle tighten the knot on her tie one last time before he turned to enter the doors of the Mirror Chamber. She glanced down again at her tie and did not see a Windsor knot at all.
He fixed it into a bow tie.*
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Since the first time she met the Dorm Leaders, Minako sensed their overwhelming auras all clashing together to see whose presence was the loudest. They were imposing as ever when they all turned to look at her as she walked into the chamber with Riddle. Again, she felt like shrinking back just like the first time she was in this room. Why were some of the Dorm Leaders so tall?
Of course, she couldn’t infer much about the person talking behind a floating tablet other than his shyness and introversion. Idia Shroud, was it? As the Dorm Leader of the ever so withdrawn dorm of Ignihyde, one would have thought that Idia would have the slightest hint of pride to represent his students in person. Guess not. At least his voice was clear enough to come through his tablet.
Kalim’s aura was different. It was sunny and bright, maybe overwhelmingly so, as he was on the surface. It wasn’t much to be scared about. He gave her a friendly wave and a wide grin as Minako entered the room.
Vil Schoenheit, the head of Pomefiore, had a beauty that was so lethal that one look could cut you down. Minako had seen him roam the school halls from time to time and in countless video ads on her phone for his makeup brands. She had roomed with several well-known heirs at Hogwarts before and her best friend back home was famous in the Wizarding Community herself, but it was hard to shake off the bizarre feeling of being in the same room as a celebrity. It was difficult to spare even a quick glimpse at Vil with how much it felt like he was judging her every move.
Minako suddenly felt a chill down her spine as she felt someone was watching her. Looking up to the source, she locked eyes with Azul Ashengrotto.
The Dorm Leader of Octavinelle sent her an in-genuine smile, but he only got a blank look in response. Generosity of the Sea Witch, huh? More horror stories about his contracts came from his dorm than actual miracles coming true.
Then finally came Leona Kingscholar from Savanaclaw. Much to Minako’s relief, he glanced at her for a second then looked away. He didn’t stare, gawk, nor did he burn holes into her head with his eyes. In fact, the look in his eyes were somewhat glazed and indifferent to her presence. One could only hope that he didn’t have any hard feelings from their first encounter on the inside.
Crowley’s booming voice rang across the room, “On behalf of our prestigious school, I call to commence our meeting concerning the October Magical Shift Tournament.” With his staff, he graciously pointed over to Azul. “Let us begin with an announcement from Mr. Ashengretto from Octavinelle dorm, our manager of the tournament planning committee.”
“My fellow dorm leaders, thank you for having me,” Azul greeted everyone with a syrupy tone and a sickly sweet smile. “The grounds surrounding the Coliseum are now fully booked with food stalls as well as our kiosk space for both internal and external endeavours.”
Kalim casually nudged Minako’s shoulder to eagerly tell her, “Awesome! This year’s going to be buzzing with excitement!”
Minako simply smiled and nodded at him. I have no idea what’s going on.
Without missing a beat, Azul continued, “As always, invitations have been sent out to various royals around the globe. General admittance tickets are about to be sold out. And of course, TV stations and the press are requesting to get their hands on the latest scoop of the event.”
So, this really is like a mini Super Bowl of this world. How American football was played surprisingly never interested Minako, but she always looked forward to the Halftime shows.
“I guess the whole world will be watching. I always looked forward to getting my VIP tickets before I was enrolled in this school,” Kalim said. He turned to Leona. “Hey, you’re a prince. Do you think that we might have ran into each other at the tournament when we were kids?”
Leona, who was leaning back in his seat and seemingly had dozed off, spoke up, “Who knows? Who cares?”
“Minako, what about you? Ever been to a Magift tournament before?” Kalim’s question came unexpectedly.
“No, not a Magift tournament,” Minako quickly replied. I’ve been to Quidditch World Cup Tournaments though.
“I’ll have to make sure that my face is in top form for the cameras,” Vil said thoughtfully. “That much exercise means that I’ll need constant touching up on my foundation.”
Okay, even I don’t wear makeup for exercise. What sensible person wears makeup when they know that they’re going to sweat? If Minako could shake her head without offending anyone, she would.
“Only your dorm would use up their timeouts to fix your makeup,” Riddle voiced Minako’s thoughts with a sigh.
“I don’t understand how any of you can be so excited at the prospect of being in front of a bunch of normies. Just the thought of it makes me want to vomit,” India’s soporific voice sounded from the speaker of his tablet.
Eh, Minako can sympathize with that to a degree. She herself wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to be on live TV. The idea sounds exciting at first, but then you realize that the whole world is watching you and your flubs. There are mad individuals out there who are just so eager to humiliate a stranger and ruin people’s lives.
“Ahem! As I was saying…” Azul diverted the attention back to him.
“Oops! My bad,” Kalim sheepishly apologized.
“Once your dorm’s player rosters have been decided, you must submit the registration documents. Submit the paperwork late by even a single day and—”
“And we’ll be disqualified,” Riddle finished.
“No, no. You’ll need to pay a processing fee to make the fastest delivery as possible.” Azul corrected with a greedy smirk.
Minako swore she heard Idia curse under his breath.
“Excuse me? I don’t recall that even the head of the planning committee can change rules like that to allow a breach in policies,” Riddle protested.
“Well, if it doesn’t disqualify anyone from the game then I’m glad the rules have been changed,” Kalim laughed.
“Let’s not get off track,” said Crowley. “Concerning the tournament bracket, I have an idea that I’d like to propose.”
Riddle raised a brow. “And that is…?
“It is about Diasomnia’s Dorm Leader. I propose that Mr. Draconia is to be inducted into the hall of fame at this time.”
The room went quiet. Vil and Riddle frowned, Azul and Kalim exchanged equally bewildered looks, and Leona… Leona was glowering at the Headmaster. The tension grew.
“Huh?” Kalim broke the silence
“What’s this about?” Leona finally found his words that almost came with a guttural growl—accusatory and almost threatening.
Strangely enough, the over-emotional Headmaster did not seem shaken by Leona’s rising ire and continued, “Ever since Mr. Draconia’s admittance to this school, there hasn’t been a single dorm that managed to score a point against Diasomnia before they are inevitably trounced on the playing field. Diasomnia regularly scores over a hundred points, most of which were Mr. Draconia’s doing.”
“I remember when we went up against him last year. Not even five seconds on the field and my dorm was already done for,” Kalim lamented.
Even judo matches and relay races weren’t this short! Is this Malleus fellow even real?
“He’s like some cheat character that completely breaks the game,” said Idia.
So like Bayonetta when you’re playing Smash Bros, Minako snorted. Well, what did you expect from someone whose birth tipped the balance of the universe?
“What did you say?”
Minako stiffened and clamped her lips tightly together, having realized that she had muttered out that statement.
“Nothing. I said nothing.”
“May I remind you all that this tournament isn’t just for your amusement. People take advantage of this tournament to seek out the next line of talented young magicians.” Crowley sternly crossed his arms. “However, with Mr. Draconia still enrolled in our school, Diasomnia wipes out all of their opponents before anyone can show off their skills leaving no competition at all and a less than optimal display for the spectators.”
“I’m down for that since it’s no fun getting kicked around by some big shot,” Idia’s voice gained the tiniest hint of optimism.
Crowley turned to look at Leona. “And I know that many of Savanaclaw’s members aim to play as Magical Shift pro leagues. Savanaclaw has had a long history of never scoring anything below third place in our ranks, but in the last two years you have all but been stamped out of the game in the opening match.”
Ouch. Minako inhaled sharply, not bothering to hide the grimace on her face. And people say that she was blunt.
“So that’s how it’s going to be, huh? Another year, another disgrace, but this time you’re forcing us into it,” Leona seethed.
“You misunderstand, Mr. Kingscholar. I don’t wish to humiliate you by doing this. I already have Mr. Draconia’s consent to his induction, and all I need is the committee’s approval.”
That didn’t seem fair.
“Wouldn’t it be more humiliating by not giving people a fighting chance?” Minako suddenly blurted out.
Then everyone turned to stare at her. She’d been fairly quiet for most of the meeting with nothing much to add.
So far, she was more of a side piece rather than an actual Dorm Leader worth her salt.
Minako swallowed back her nerves and pressed on, “What I mean is, it’s rather poor in taste to declare someone the champion by default before everyone else gets a chance to go up against him. It ends up relegating the talents of your students. And just because they won the past two years doesn’t mean it will be the same this year.”
“Didn’t you hear me call him a cheat character earlier? Do you see any other top mages around here, kid?” Idia sounded exasperated with her like an adult with a clueless child (which technically they were, but come on, they were only two years apart).
“Ms. Nezumi, your input is much appreciated. But as the youngest here, therefore the least experienced, it’s best to let the grown-ups do the talking and learn from there,” Crowley chided her.
“But I—” Minako helplessly dropped her hand against the oak railing set in front of the pew, embarrassed that she even bothered. Mate, are you actually trying to trigger the curse?
“Are you actually shutting her down like that when she’s right?” Leona defended. “We don’t need a handicap to play. Most of all, I loathe it when someone tells me that I can’t win before I’ve even begun to fight tooth and nail.”
“No, that is not what I’m implying—” Crowley was promptly cut off.
“Then what is it?” Leona stared him down, backing his prey into a corner. “You can’t get very far in a game of Magift with brute strength. You have to use what’s in here.” He tapped the side of his noggin for emphasis.
“I’m no good at using my head either, so I’d lose to Malleus either way,” Kalim humbly admitted.
“But I can. Lizard Breath’s got brawn, I have brains. Without a moment’s hesitation, he’ll jump into the fray, but I plan to win it all.”
“Is that so?” Azul challenged.
“The King of Beasts gained ownership of the crown through his tenacity and cunning mind,” Leona explained, pride glinting in his eyes. “You want to take down that monster so badly? Start turning the gears in your brains and think of something. I bet the whole world would be glued to their seats if another team breaks Diasomnia’s winning streak, and who are we to deny them that? That team could be sittin’ pretty in no time.”
Minako was amazed. If Salazar Slytherin wasn’t so prejudiced, he’d love to have Leona under his tutelage.
“So you do have a functioning brain up there,” Vil stated sardonically. “But yes, I agree with Kingscholar for once. This plan is utter nonsense. I don’t appreciate you excluding talented players, especially when it reeks of an unconscious bias for Prince Malleus.”
Riddle nodded his head in agreement. “That’s right. As a self-respecting magician, I don’t intend to throw in the towel before I even get the chance to show what I’m made of.”
“That stuck-up louse’s dismal face broadcasted to the whole world would be a sight to see, wouldn’t you agree? Just the thought of it could almost put a pep in my step. Almost.” If it was possible, Leona’s smirk grew more arrogant.
“It would certainly give the ratings a boost.” Azul grinned. “I could see it now on the front page: ‘Prodigy Prince Malleus Draconia loses win streak.’”
“I don’t want other players to be left out of the tournament either. It wouldn’t be fair,” Kalim added.
“What? How come I’m the only one who’s okay with him being in the hall of fame?” Idia complained.
“Hey, you heard them. Majority rules, so Malleus won’t be seeing the hall of fame. That’s final,” Leona boldly declared.
Crowley sighed, defeated. “Very well. But!” He raised a finger with a warning. “If this year is a repeat of the past two years, he will be in the hall of fame.”
“Whatever.”
Now, it was Minako’s turn to be called out by the Headmaster. “Ms. Nezumi of Mugglesworth dorm, you have the floor this time about your contribution to the tournament.”
“Yes, sir.” Minako mentally went back to the flashcards of the speech she prepared for this and anxiously hoped that she can say it all without a hint of a stutter. “As you all know, Mugglesworth is but a humble dorm currently housing only two students. Because of this, it prevents us from participating as players in the tournament. However, I have agreed to use my skills in potions and apothecary to collaborate with Professor Crewel to tend to any maladies and injuries that the players have sustained.”
“Aw, you won’t be playing?” Kalim frowned.
“No. I’d love to but no.” Besides, it’s not like Minako knew how to play even on a beginner’s level yet.
“I see. Crewel must have plenty of faith in your abilities if he asked for your help.” Once again, Azul did not do a good job of painting himself in a good light with that slimy smile. Was he even trying to sound charming to her?
“Leave the poor girl alone, Azul,” Vil lightly scolded him.
“Ahem. Well, that settles it. Thank you all for coming.” Azul clapped his hands with finality. “And remember to turn in your registration forms on time. Not that I would be too upset should that slip your minds.” He finished off with a sinister chuckle.
“Hold the phone.” Something had felt off about the meeting since Minako arrived. How could she have been so forgetful to not have realized it sooner? “Where is Prince Malleus?”
Vil froze where he sat. “Did… we forget to tell him about the meeting again?”
Again?
“Ah,” A noise of what one could make from experiencing a paralyzing shock came from the Headmaster and the other Dorm Leaders.
“I… must have miscounted. We have eight Dorm Leaders this year, not seven,” Crowley sheepishly admitted, his pale cheeks noticeably pink from embarrassment. “So much for making sure no one has been forgotten this year.”
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº Riddle ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
“So I’m throwing a homecoming party this weekend,” Kalim suddenly announced as they walked out the Mirror Chamber. He seemed less focused on the group as a whole with the way his eyes immediately diverted from everyone else to Minako’s direction. “It’d be nice to have you over at my dorm. I could show you all the cool renovations that my father sponsored.”
“Oh, that’s right. I missed your party last time. I’m sorry about that,” Minako said.
“You were nursing a fever and injuries. It’s not like you could help it,” Riddle interjected.
“Yeah, I heard about that. Did you like my get-well-soon gifts?” Kalim was eager to hear Minako’s answer.
“I did! The coffee beans made some of the best coffee I’ve ever had.” Minako beamed.
The corner of Riddle’s mouth quirked. He steeled himself, chanting in his mind that Kalim being sweet on someone was nothing new.
“Is it just me, or does Mr. Easy-Breezy have googly eyes for the new girl?” Leona quietly mumbled while Kalim and Minako were all too caught up in their conversation.
So, if Leona noticed it too… Riddle tightened his fist.
Idia had no shame in letting the rest of the group know how annoyed he was. One could imagine the shake of his head behind his screen. “Save a guy’s ass once from getting charred, and he suddenly wants to be your boyfriend.”
“Huh?” Riddle whipped his head around to look at him, or rather his tablet.
This reaction, unfortunately, did not go unnoticed by Azul. He didn’t miss an opportunity to send a sly smile his way. “Oh? Is our ever so severe Riddle Rosehearts fond of Ms. Nezumi? I never thought I’d see the day you would be vying for someone’s affections.”
Thankfully, Minako hadn’t been listening at all and was still conversing with Kalim.
“She’s an honorary member of Heartslabyul and under my tutelage in becoming a proper Dorm Leader. It’s only natural for me to protect those in my circle.” Riddle stated. He managed to compose himself, but the damage was already done and Azul was still smiling.
“Protect? Please. Kalim wouldn’t hurt a fly,” said Vil. “There’s no shame in admitting it. She has a winsome appearance.”
“Hrrk! Ack!”
Everyone’s heads jerked at to look Minako. Said winsome girl let out some rather alarmingly unpleasant hacking noises right in front of everyone. The sound and the way that her arm covered her mouth was all too familiar to Riddle.
Oh, no.
“Ah! Minako, are you alright? Are you sick again?” Kalim stepped forwards towards Minako in his panicked concern.
“What the…” Leona’s ears perked up in alarm.
“Oh my.” Azul, looking appalled but still somehow eerily calm.
“Don’t just stand there! Someone get her to the infirmary!” hollered Vil
With no more time to hesitate, Riddle jerked Minako away by the crook of her arm and ran far and away from anyone else’s view.
Of all times, why did that blasted curse have to act up again?
“I’m sorry,” came Minako’s meek apology that barely reached Riddle’s ears as her hand moved to cover her mouth. The downside of wearing white gloves as opposed to the school’s black gloves was that it can be easily stained by things such as the sable dribbles of blot.
It sent a pang in Riddle’s heart, sending his mind back to his tiny and apologetic self under his mother’s heel.
“I’m sure they didn’t see the blot, but we would have to make up an excuse should they ask. Drink your potion now,” Riddle reassured her. “Were you that nervous about the meeting?”
“No.” Minako popped the cap of her flask open. “I heard the droplets of ink.”
“What?”
“Riddle, I have a feeling that something will go amiss with this tournament.”
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº ??? ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Target spotted.
“This year for sure we’ll be on the Spelldrive roster,” Ethel Griffon confidently announced. Blond, messy hair—yup, matches the description.
He was standing at the top of the stairs. This was too easy.
“Hope you got some flashy spells under your belt.” Kermit Footman—kind of stupid, so he probably won’t get in the way of him being able to do his job.
“Heck yeah, I do! I showed them to Crewel earlier, and he was impressed.”
Ah, it’s too bad I have to do this. I feel kind of bad.
Not!
With no hesitation at all, he flicked his pen and moved his body to jump forward.
“Let’s go back to the dorm and show this to— BWAAAAH?!”
A series of thuds, a yelp, and a grunt came after.
“What the— Hey! Why did you just jump down the stairs like that?”
“I…d-didn’t jump!” From the sound of it, poor Ethel must have broken something. He gasped and choked. “My leg… fucking hurts!”
Perfect.
“Come on. Let’s get you to the infirmary.”
And as they tried to find their right footing, the mastermind himself finished off with a discreet laugh. Mission accomplished.
“Shi, shi, shi…”
◐ ━━━━━ ºoº ━━━━━ ◑
Notes:
Yeah, so I didn't include the blot explained scene at Crowley's office. Blot was pretty much explained in chapters 5, 10, and 11, so it would be redundant to write that. At first, I was going to rewrite the scene with the staff getting to know more about Minako and her curse, but I couldn't think of a creative way to do that.
Also, I apologize again for the long wait. My new job is keeping me busy.
*Muggle-born Program: I believe I saw headcanons of these on Tumblr. My version of this headcanon is that it is basically a summer program with Muggle-borns and Half-bloods ages 6-10 that opened shortly after the Second Wizarding War in response to aiding lost and confused Muggle-borns. The program is utilized to familiarize magical children from Muggle families with the Wizarding World before they are officially boarded once they reach the age of eleven. Kind of like getting a letter from the owl post early to attend Hogwarts.
*He fixed it into a bow tie: Flirting 101 by Riddle Rosehearts: Pretend that her tie is crooked, so that you could fix it for her. Tie it into a matching bow tie instead of her usual Windsor knot.
*Ethel Griffon: Minor Heartslabyul OC based on the Gryphon from Alice in Wonderland.
*Kermit Footman: Minor Heartslabyul OC based on the Frog Footman from Alice in Wonderland
I read your Ron with an ED piece and it’s 💔. Was it a one shot or did I miss other parts?
I was in the middle of working on a much larger project for Ron suffering from an ED piece. The one you saw posted was one I tossed out of the outline because it compromised the story I was trying to tell.
The bigger piece is actually heavily Ron and Neville Friendship.
Excerpt:
The most bizarre thing to ever happen to Ron- more so than running into a Hag crossdressing as a goblin, was having Neville Longbottom throw him against a wall.
He was honestly too shocked to be angry.
“Um, what’s up Nev?”
“You promised,” Neville snarled.
“Promised what?” Ron said blankly, staring at the much shorter sixth year. Last he’d seen of Neville was in the common room last night and nothing had been out of sorts then so he was sort of drawing a white slate here.
“You’ve started changing in the bathroom,” Neville said in disgust, shoving him away. “You think I don’t know what that means?”
Ron relaxed marginally, relieved to know what had upset the normally gentle Gryffindor. He waved his hand dismissively, smiling and nudging Neville away from him.
“Don’t get your knickers in a twist. I’m eating plenty, I just…” Ron grimaced, not wanting to put the problem into words. “I had another growth spurt and… it caused… wardrobe malfunctions.” He knows his ears are burning red. He unconsciously crossed his arms, feeling his shirt stretch tight over his back as he avoided Neville’s eyes.  “I’ve been using magic to loosen the seems,” he admitted unwillingly. “And now their falling apart.”
Neville was quiet for a long moment before sighing.
“I’ve got an idea, but you’re probably not going to like it.”
Before Ron could question what he was going on about, he found his arm grabbed and Neville was dragging him down the hall.
“I’m not taking money or clothes from you,” Ron told him bluntly.
“Of course not,” Neville said airily. “Because you’re a Weasley and that would be sensible and we all know Weasley’s aren’t sensible.”
“We aren’t pity cases,” Ron hissed.
“Godric forbid a Weasley have a human weakness,” Neville said, rolling his eyes as he spoke. Ron decided this new found confidence Neville was showing was not his cup of tea. Every time Nev decided he had a backbone and a mouth, it seemed it was directed at Ron rather than in his favor.
End Excerpt.
But the piece seems to be coming together to be about the Dorm room boys: Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean, Seamus as the central cast.
Which is fun. I've not seen many stories featuring them. Which I think is part of the reason I got rid of Fred and George as it made the story more family focused.
I decided a while ago that I want to complete entire manuscripts before I post because I've become notorious for long times without posting. This is my way of fixing that issue is to just write the whole project no matter how long it takes and THEN start posting.
I've got like 6 half written projects- most 100k plus at this point. Including the first year of my Grim Ron story. Quite a few arcs ahead of Spitfire. And some more thorough writing of Boogeyman along with other projects.
Once I have them fully finished I'll post everything on Archives rather than fanfiction.net as that place seems to have fallen to the homophobes. I've gotten a LOT of poisonous things sent to me about Spitfire through PM's and I'm not having it. Same username though for anyone who wants to find the pieces.
But yes, this is one of the projects.
Lucy Caddel (my twst Yuu)
Tumblr media
Lucy Caddel ( pronounced cad-dell) is my OC I made as Yuu. She may be magicless, but never underestimate her. Lucy has spent her whole life dealing with a bad hand the universe had given her, so life at NRC is no different, unlike her life in her home world, this one actually gets better (much to Lucy’s confusion and slight fear).
Prefers to wear her very long hair in a braid. Easiest and quickest style for her to accomplish, plus it helps her to manipulate in other styles when needed. Such as the braided bun for gym. But aside from the braid, Lucy is not good at doing her own hair. It's either in a braid, or down, if you want something more intricate, your going to have to do it for her.
She is very short and is aware and self-conscious over it, wears three inch heels to try and giver a boost. Has worn heels so much for so long, that they are natural for her at this point. Everyone can’t help but think that Lucy has to have some form of magic, the way she moves in her heels are not natural, nor should it be possible. Vol is actually impressed with Lucy’s skill in heels (now if only he can get her to fix her hair and freely showcase her eyes). Physical Education is the only class she doesn't wear heels, Vargas forced her to wear tennis shoes.
Even though Lucy and Grim have a rocky start, first few days they struggle to try and live together in cohesion. But once the two find common ground, and live through multiple trials and overblots together, the two are nearly inseparable.
As shown in the picture above, Lucy fears the broom and flight lessons in Physical Education with Coach Vargas, but after some (note, alot) of struggle, Vargas assigned her third year to help. After a week or so, Lucy quickly becomes the best flier Night Raven College has ever seen. Which will be show cased a lot in the Savanclaw arc with the Spelldrive tournament.
Tumblr media
Ignore the Fairy Gala dress. It’s okay, but I plan on redrawing it in the future. Heartslabyul uniform is during the unbirthday tea party. I noticed that Grim’s bow changed to match the dorm’s uniform, so I did the same for Lucy.
As I stated above, I am going to redraw the Fairy Gala dress, I have a couple of ideas, but we'll see where that goes. I've been thinking of drawing her a masquerade outfit in celebration of the new masquerade arc (although it hasn't come out in English yet), draw a set of casual clothes and maybe a pajama set, and finally, but not least, a ramshackle uniform.
Although, I drew Lucy a Heartslabyul uniform because it's in the story, but if you want to see her in other uniforms as well, go ahead and request for it! I'd be happy to draw it if you want, along with Yuu with other characters (be warned requests like that will take much longer to complete). I'm also opened to questions about Lucy if you have any.
Shonen Kageki Revue Wonderland (Twisted Wonderland x Revue Starlight AU)
Tumblr media
So, I watched one video of this anime (technically it's from the movie, the Revue of Souls clip), and let's say that I'm obsessed with this tournament-arc-style- theater-with-talking-giraffe. So let's combine TWST with this anime, shall we?
Tumblr media
This is a No Magic AU, so Night Raven College is your ordinary prestigious all-boys academy.
There can still be seven dorms, however, our overblot victims are not dorm leaders. I'll explain it in a second.
The one thing so special about Night Raven College is the Theater Club. Their production is almost Broadway level and they always perform on the first day of Spring (maybe around the VDC).
Now, this is where our overblot victims came in. They are part of the Theater Club, the actors to be exact. So, it's Riddle, Leona, Azul, Jamil, Vil, Idia, and Malleus.
Last year, they performed the tale of Twisted Wonderland. It's a story of seven friends who follow a talking raven to a wonderland. However, unknown to them, the wonderland twists their mind, and one by one they get lost, and possibly die. The last one standing who is granted a way out decides to stay in the wonderland because they need to find their friends. Thus, they wander in the twisted wonderland forever.
It was the best play the Theater Club had ever done. So, naturally, they want to do it again this year.
This is where our story starts.
Tumblr media
Enter Ace Trappola!
(The only reason I chose Ace is that, technically, he's one of the deuteragonists in TWST plus I kinda like his and Riddle's dynamic)
(But we can change it to Yuu or just MC. I'll still refer to Ace as the MC here)
(Oh yeah, Riddle is the second main protagonist here too, Bare with me)
Ace Trappola and Riddle Rosehearts are playing as both Karen Aijou and Hikari Kagura, but Ace leaning more as Karen while Riddle is Hikari.
Ace is a new first-year who enroll at Night Raven College and wants to join the Theater Club as an actor because his big brother did that seven years ago. Yeah, he's really just looking for a purpose in life. To be fair, he has also liked the theater since he was a kid.
When he arrives and joins the club, guess how surprised he is when he finds out that the Riddle Rosehearts is here.
Ace and Riddle are childhood friends. They know each other because their parents are co-workers thus they had play dates together. Ace is the one introducing the world of theater to Riddle. They even watch a Twisted Wonderland theater production. Ever since then, they promise to one day perform together in a Twisted Wonderland stage play as the two main characters. Unfortunately, Ace and his family have to move away, but Ace and Riddle still exchange letters.
While Ace tries to get close to Riddle again, it seems his effort is in vain because Riddle acts rather aloof.
When it's nearly night time, Ace accidentally sees Riddle walking toward the school. Curious and just wondering what's up with his childhood friend, he follows him.
Finding a very suspicious open elevator, Ace rides it to the underground and...
Tumblr media
...finds an underground theater battle between Riddle and Jamil?! And the stage looks suspiciously similar to the Twisted Wonderland stage play?!
Well, a talking cat named Grim said that this is an audition for the position of "Top Star", where the 'stage boys', that is our seven overblot victims, fight in a revue for the role of the main character in Twisted Wonderland.
Yeah, Ace is not having that.
Jumping to the stage, declaring his promise to become the star together with Riddle in Twisted Wonderland, Ace interrupted the revue. With this, Ace is accepted as a participant in the underground audition.
Tumblr media
Now let's talk about the other participant, the other six boys.
Tumblr media
Starting with the already mentioned one, Jamil Viper is playing the role of Junna Hoshimi.
His backstory is similar to TWST. His family works at the al-Asim household as housekeepers so Kalim and Jamil are 'childhood friends'.
The Theater Club is an escape for him. Kalim doesn't join the club thus this is the only place where Jamil can be free.
The position of Top Star is a declaration of proof that he's not just a servant, but is also capable to perform like the top actors of the school.
Tumblr media
Speaking of escapism, let's drop the ball.
Vil Schoenheit is playing the role of Nana Daiba. He also plays as Futaba Isurugi because he's kinda Idia's caretaker.
As a world-class celebrity and one of the top three actors in the club, Vil is the club president/main director.
As an escape, almost the same as Jamil, the Teather Club is Vil's place to be free. He's the one who controls the script and not the other way around. He loves to teach others about the art of acting.
He has a different reason why he aims for the Top Star. Last year's Twisted Wonderland stage play is his pride and joy, the best time of his life, and he wants to relive this again. While he's fine with not being the main character, he just wants to be on the stage of the same production.
Tumblr media
As briefly mentioned before, Idia Shroud is playing as Kaoruko Hanayagi.
The Shroud family is more of the traditional side. A generation of traditional dancers, Idia is pressured to be the next master. But he's not really interested in it, mostly because he wants to go into the game development industry.
The only reason why he's still pursuing theater is his little brother who is really ill. However, he is recovering and said that this year he can see Idia perform.
Idia doesn't aim for the Top Star, but he still wants to be in the main cast. So, for his brother, he will fight for that position.
Tumblr media
Now, this is not a real club if there's no rivalry.
That's where Leona Kingscholar as Claudine Saijou and Malleus Draconia as Maya Tendou comes in.
The two had been rivals since the start of the year.
Malleus is not a prince but from a generation of world-class actors. He's also the top actor in the Theater Club.
Leona meanwhile comes from a family in the business industry. When his brother is the one who inherits the family company, he takes a different turn and becomes a child actor. He's also one of the top three actors in the club despite being a lazy ass during regular school hours.
The Top Star is the position they have been chasing because that's what they do. They are the best of the best, so it's only natural to aim for the top. For that's their greatest passion.
(Look, rivalshipping is also great, guys)
Tumblr media
Now let's look to a rivalry that wasn't really acknowledged.
Azul Ashengrotto is Mahiru Tsuyuzaki.
Azul joins the Theater Club because he is petty. When he was in his elementary school production, he was in the main cast but was replaced for an unknown reason. He was bullied when he moved the stage crew as well. Children were just bullies.
You think that'll make him hate theater, but nope!
He's so petty that he joins the NRC Theater Club, works hard to get the main cast spot, and would try to sabotage anyone who wants to steal the show!
But apparently, everyone in the main cast has their aggressive side, so he pushes the sabotage aside and just being a hard worker.
Riddle is his roommate and sometimes Azul just got so worked up that he claimed to be Riddle's rival. But Riddle didn't really acknowledge that. They end up being study partners.
So, imagine how pissed off Azul is when Ace waltzes in and takes his spot as Riddle's partner...
If you think Azul would let Ace replaces him, think again.
Tumblr media
However, remember when I said Twisted Wonderland is a tale of seven friends? We have eight main casts. One is an abnormality. How will this affect the stage?
Well, the show must go on...
Life of Satan in Heartslabyul Dormitory
Tumblr media
Context in the fanfic: Upon arriving in Twisted Wonderland, Satan will turn into a cat outside Heartslabyul Dormitory. However, he will change back to normal upon going back to the dormitory.
With Yuu/Yuki:
Satan will mostly be forced to leave Yuu/Yuki due to his inability to do human actions as a cat.
He will visit Ramshackle to observe Yuu/Yuki's daily life.
Satan wlll use Yuu/Yuki's library pass to borrow books.
Yuki will have to borrow at least 20 books a day because of Satan.
"uGH TOO heavy."
He will be a cat dad to Grim probably as a cat.
With Riddle Rosehearts:
Satan will be known as Riddle's black cat in NRC.
Satan and Riddle will have a bonding activity of reading law books and other heavy textbooks.
They will also have tea as well?
He will be the unofficial Cat Warden of the Dorm because he and Riddle have similar temper tantrums.
Satan wiill always stick around Riddle in case he needs to fight or use magic.
Because Riddle is his magic battery.
Satan will be the cure to probably calm down Riddle since he can control Riddle's angry emotions.
Satan will probably go with Riddle at Christmas Break to be free at school for once.
And he will teach Riddle how to rebel against his own mother.
with pranks
With Ace Trappola:
Ace will call him Tantan to make fun of him.
Ace will probably ask for a duel because he's a demon
Ace will annoy the shit out of Satan as a cat.
Without Riddle, he would bully Satan 24/7.
Satan will probably be pissed at Ace for accidentally flirting with the MC/Yuu/Yuki
With Deuce Spade:
Deuce will ask Satan to be his tutor because honor student
Satan accepts and was happy
Deuce would probably not get Satan's way of teaching.
Deuce will invite Ace, Grim and Yuu/Yuki in his lessons.
They won't get it still
Hence, sea anemones arc
With Trey Clover
Trey will be wary and distant probably cuz he's a demon.
Trey don't like Satan because he's draining Riddle's magic and using him as Battery.
Trey would question how on earth is Satan's bed covered in books?
But despite all that, Trey will give Satan some apple pie and tea.
With Cater Diamond
Cater will provide cat clothes and necessities for Satan's needs.
A thousand cat pictures for Cater's magicam.
They will be bunkmates.
Cater will also ask why on earth is his bed covered in books.
Cater will also compliment and ask where did Satan get his nails done.
The tsums event fekt like a fever dream also the fact that they got to return to their world in front of the ramshackle dorm us so funny like I would've lost it lol also do you think Yana Toboso add yuu after finishing the plot of the main story ? Because they feel like a last min thing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the Tsum event was more cute than fever dream 😂 and hey, with that mysterious “The End?” message, maybe we’ll have more iterations of the Tsum event in the future? That way, each dorm leader can get a Tsumsted SSR (since the TsumTsum game had multiple iterations of Twisted Wonderland collabs). The groovies for future Tsumsted SSRs will probably be modeled after the skill animations seen in for the TWST Tsums in the TsumTsum game, as the Riddle and Leona Tsumsted SSRs already do.
As for your question, well 🤔 I don’t think we have enough evidence to really say? It’s not exactly uncommon for games like this to have player characters that do little to actually impact the main story. It’s more likely just the TWST devs going with whatever is convenient to introduce the world and its characters to us with. It wouldn’t make sense to have the playable character be someone FROM Twisted Wonderland, since they would already understand how things work with magic and their culture, whereas if the player was from another world, then there would be a reason to explain everything to them.
Mmm... I often see people refer to Yuu as “MC”, but in reality, Yuu doesn’t feel like a “main character” to me. (I want to stress that I am NOT talking about anyone’s Yuusonas here; I am STRICTLY talking about the default Yuu as the game presents them to us). They feel like a tertiary character that is present only to observe the actual main characters aka the dorm leaders) and the secondary characters (ie everyone else in the dorms) go through a crisis and try and resolve that crisis over time. They are the lens through which we, the players, view the story, and just because Yuu is the player character doesn’t necessarily make them the “main” one that the story revolves around. I feel like not much would really change if Yuu went home and we saw Twisted Wonderland through some other character (like Grim) that a lot of the basic lore has been told to us. (Yuu was a useful literary device to have characters explain how things work to someone who is unaware of the workings of Twisted Wonderland.)
I have no doubt that we’ll eventually get to Yuu’s arc about going home, but the vast majority of the main story has decidedly not been about that. Yuuken and Yuuya (from the manga and the light novel adaptations, respectively) have more personality and backstory going on than Yuu, so they feel more like “main characters”, even if they’re given the exact same “I need to go back to my original world!” issue, but the story is still very much focused on the dorm leaders.
Speaking of elegant, how would Crewel and the Pomefiore boys react to Mila, both before and after she evolve ?
Crewel was on the fence about Mila because the fish Pokemon did not look like it cared about much, other than being with Soni. With how little Pokemon Crewel had seen at first, he found it strange when Mila was being carried in a bucket and just held his reservations about the Pokemon to himself. Basically, he was confused by why Soni kept the Pokemon.
When Mila evolved into Milotic, that changes as he's met with the most beautiful Pokemon in the world, as attributed by many. He would agree on that statement. Although he wishes to go near the Pokemon, Mila doesn't really want to talk to anyone else and is annoyed by many of the people who try to convince her to move away from Ramshackle, mostly Pomefiore students who thought that she should live and be with them. Crewel is tempted to go near the Pokemon, although that hope is quickly dashed once he sees her dart under the water.
Like I mentioned up above, many Pomefiore students try to convince MIla to go with them into their dorm, and she is having none of that. Vil had been the first of the Pomefiore students to snub not only Mila, but also Soni who had shown up at the Savanaclaw Arc. Vil could understand the more eccentric-looking Pokemon because he himself has Bidoof (although he didn't know Bidoof was a Pokemon, but still, the thought counts), but Mila looked (and is described by the Pokedex) as an ugly, shabby-looking Pokemon. It was difficult for him to understand why Soni called the Pokemon unique and special when the Pokemon seemed to hate everyone.
Mila immediately put him on the blacklist of "People to Never Give the Time of Day" and it's still the same after she evolves. She's the first she dives into the lake to avoid all the time. Seeing the beautiful change in Mila, Vil tries to apologize to the Pokémon for his harsh words, but Mila does not have that shit at all, especially with the Pomefiore students acting like little shits when Vil's not looking. Vil needed to control those little bastards and maybe Mila might consider the idea.
For Rook, Mila was an interesting creature that he'd never seen before. Despite the rugged appearance, the Pokemon possessed an intelligent mind that demanded respect and thus is one of the few students that Mila does not dislike on sight.
After Mila evolves, she's on a hesitant truce with the hunter, although she still hides from him because she finds Rook off-putting due to the pictures he takes of her. She does her best to get privacy.
For Epel, he was on the side of "What the heck is that thing" than "It's so ugly, ugh". Like he wasn't really sure what Mila was in terms of fish and was confused when Soni said Mila was a Pokemon since y'know, a different world. He just kept away from the Pokemon after he saw his fellow dorm mates barely avoided getting scalded on their faces by the Pokemon.
After Mila evolves, Epel is very hesitant to go near the Pokemon because it still remembers the grudges and ill-words of his dorm mates, so he's even more careful. Mila on her side doesn't mind Epel since he never offended her or Soni personally, so she's actually calm around him. She wouldn't attack someone randomly. She wasn't a mindless, brainless, selfish creature like that damned cat.
(Grim grumbles in the background, "Stupid fish.")
