Victory AU

I've been thinking about this for the longest time, but what if there was a AU where the Gelfling won the garthim wars?

After watching their loved ones be drained and murdered, and watching their towns burned and destroyed, I feel like the Gelfling would start playing by skeksis rules and beat the shit out of them.

I have a couple of head cannons but let me list the biggest ones.

The castle of the crystal has been destroyed.

During the war I feel like the dousan warriors would ride their flying things (I forgot the name) over the castle and bomb it. After thru captured all the Skeksies the would take the crystal and bomb the castle.

General Seledon

I'm a really big Seledon x Gurjin fan and I thought this up while thinking about them. So Gurjin was a very high ranking General, and Seledon would've planned out they're battles. (She would've read some books about war and battles strategies in Faras library) So one day Gurjin was positioned in ha'ra because they had a big battle coming up. Seledon was alone in the citadel because all the guards were on the front lines or ded, and Brea was in the dessert, so she let gurjin stay with her. In the middle of the night the citadel and all of Ha'ra was attacked by garthim, so gurjin went to protect the people and in the process was severely injured and in a coma line state. So Seledon decided that she could fight as the commander as Gurjins Substitute, and I feel like she would wear Fara's crown into battles to feel as if Fara is still with them. ( and she's obviously wearing Gothic armor on the battle field)

Captured Skeksies

Because of course some of the Urskeks need to go back to there home world, instead of executing the Skeksies they would have them locked up in a different part of thra, and they would be watched by their ur counterpart. (Like that one guy in the caves of grot) I feel like after the Gelfling started to win more Skeksil would get SkekSo to call all the other Skeksies back to the palace for protection, but that would lead to their down fall Because it was easier to get them all when they're in the same place.

Hiding spots

So we all know they used the crystal bat's to find where the gelfling were hiding, but if the garthim can't get to them they'll be safe. I feel like the safe spots in thra would've been,

- the Caves of grot (they got the nurlocks, Arathim, and a bunch of hiding spots)

- The drenchen swamps (of garthim can't swim they'll just sink into the water, the swamp could be hard to get through and once you get off the hiding spot all the Gelfling would be gone)

- Any island they can find (if they can't swim you are good! And the mermaid mystic can protect you)

- with the Sifa on boats (war ready cruise ships, they would take you to the island)

- In the valley of the mystics (the mystics can control the garthim so they would just leave)

Of course only childlings and care takers would be sent to safe zones with gaurd just in case.

Positions

Obviously all the Gelfling would have different roles in this battle that would contribute to their victory.

- Brea, Seledon, and the rest of the Madruas would making battle plans and think of ways of persevering their race throughout these terrible times. (Brea would go on rescue missions from time to time)

- Rian, Gurjin, spider Tavra, Hup, would be generals and on the front lines of WARRRRR. spider tavra would lead the arathim while chilling with onica on a boat from time to time.

- Deet, Hup, and Brea would be rescuers. Brea and set would have their own group of soilders to assist them, and the majority of them would be women because wings. They wound attack the garthim that captured Gelflings in the safe zones and fly away with them in hand.

- Nia, and amiri, would be the heads of the medical department.

- Kylan, and Rek'yr, would be clan representatives. And I feel like the sprinton and Dousan would work together the get everyone food. (and the sprinton area would be most protected because they have the best soil)

All Madrau Seledon

This one is also for Fara. After Fara died Seledon would try to be a leader just like her, and after gurjins sacrifice she would lead her troops into battle just like fara. And she would learn how to use weapons but her favorite was an axe because it reminded her of Fara. Because of Seledon being a, Goth, warrior, Madrau, she would've wore Goth makeup and clothes onto the battle field, and she also would cut her hair (shoulder length in the front, below ears in the back with triangle bangs.) I also feel like it was seledons idea to storm the castle of the crystal, and they did it in the middle of the night to make sure that the Skeksies would be off their guard. Seledon may or may not have tortured Skekso into telling her how to control the garthim, and after they Skeksies weren't a threat anymore the could start on rebuild the destroyed villages.

Rebuilding Gelfling society

- The first thing Seledon would declared as the new All Maudra is that its 100% Legal to mate and marry out of your clan, (because of her love for gurjin) and Maudras aren't allowed to discriminate against or exile anyone who dose.

- I think they would've had the most battles in Stone in the Wood, and after the forest had been destroyed by the garthim the Stone in the Wood clan would have the biggest city. Because Skekmal isn't in the black forest anymore anyone can now live there, and they expand the city alot. IDK if Maudra Fara had any kids but if she didn't O think they would have a group of people running the city. (They would've the they first democratic clan in thra, and obviously Rian would've been the leader of this group)

- after the Skeksies are gone it still takes awhile to get over clan racism but while rebuilding the cities together it fades away, (after a bunch of manual labor, and a war you stop caring about where another person is from)

Fun ship head cannons

-Brea and Rek'yr would go on a date to the well springs. During the war there were some grace periods when you can just live, and Brea was in the dessert alot so during the grace periods they would go on dates. Rek'yr would've taught her how to fly one of the flying fish.

They would have two houses one in the dessert and one in Ha'ra. Every six months they leave one horse and head to the other, the Ha'ra house would get summer and spring, while the dessert house would get winter and fall.

- Seledon and Gurjin would really like pressing flowers. Seledon was really stressed with everything falling into her, and gurjin taught her how to press flowers to blow off some steam.

Seledon fell in love with gurjin because he was always so happy and it helped her get through her depression. So when she saw him laying unconscious on a bed she couldn't help but feel rage. With her mom and Tavra she was so helpless and mortified, but with gurjin she was basically engulfed in the flames of unnatural fury. The Gelflings were losing because they refused of actually murder the already dead garthim, but seledon decided to start playing the the Skeksies. She is constantly compared to the Skeksies by some soilders, so she would actually start to act like one. She didn't care if it was unethical she was gonna win the war by any means necessary, she told Gelfling if they didn't destroy the garthim they would be punished and soon there were that many left. Not after long everything fell into place and they won the war, Seledon believed the Gurjin was gonna die and if it went for Brea she would fallen into the puts of despair but two months after the end of the war Gurjin woke up. (He was asleep for 10 months) but after he awoke she acted as if nothing had happened, but he was shocked by her hair.

- Onica and Tavra continue to be the best ship.

omg it's been so long since I've seen an active TDC blog!! if you're comfortable with answering, what are your favorite ships? (canon or otherwise)

There's sadly not many active here anymore and that makes me so sad! :( I definitely don't plan on going anywhere myself! We need to keep this fandom alive! My favorite ship from AoR is definitely Stonegrot (and Rian and Deet are my two favorite characters from the series). And along with them, my other top favorite ship from The Dark Crystal universe overall is definitely Jen and Kira! <3

Like I said, those two are my favorites. But I literally love every ship haha! I love RoyalMelody (BreaxKylan) and Drenchgrot (AmrixNaia). The last few weeks, RoyalHimbo (SeladonxGurjin) has been growing on me a lot too! I haven't finished the YA series yet but I'm very aware of Tavra and Onica and they sound so lovely :') Tavra deserved better.

And while I am a hardcore Stonegrot supporter, I did love Rian and Mira for the short time we saw them together and I wish we could have seen more of them! :( Mira deserved better, too.

Ship headcanons for the holidays! 🎅❄☃🎁

Stonegrot (Rian x Deet)

- after Deet was saved, they didn't get into a relationship right away, in fact it took them a while to become "official"

- With the sudden appearance of the garthim, the resistance just being formed and everything they've been through, it took a little while for them to straighten out their emotions.

- I feel like when the resistance comes to a hiatus of sorts is when they finally share their feelings for each other

- Deet initiates their first ever kiss, that is my stand until a season two says otherwise

- With what we've seen of Rian's flirting skills so far I just feel like Deet would be the one to do it

- Rian was a blushing stuttering mess lol

- They like to tease each other sometimes, Deet likes calling him all the day lighter names in the book

- Since this will take place during the Garthim war, free time is scarce. Any time they spend together is precious, whether it's something simple like a hug or the rare occasions that they actually get to go on dates

- Which might consist of small picnics or maybe some late night walks. Or just laying in a field talking about nothing in particular

- Rian is big spoon. That's it. He might be little spoon but only once or twice and no more

- They also sleep in the "sweetheart cradle" position a lot too

- Deet would wake up much earlier than Rian but sometimes she won't get up until Rian does and she might just lay there for an extra hour or so until he wakes up

- Rian loves kisses, giving and receiving. All kinds of kisses too forehead kisses, cheek kisses, deep long ones, playful pecks on the lips you name it. Like he would just be standing there doing his thing and then Deet would just walk up and kiss him and he wouldn't be able to stop himself from blushing or smiling.

- And then one hour later he will walk up to Deet and give her some kisses too

- Speaking of Deet she also loves kisses, she's more of a giver than a receiver but she loves getting them nonetheless

- I feel like whenever Rian gets hurt or is just reckless with his safety in general Deet would be the kind of person to be genuinely worried and then when finding out he's okay give him an hour long scolding on how he should be more careful

RoyalMelody (Brea x Kylan)

- Okay Rian and Deet took a little while to get together, but these guys are literally the biggest slow burn you'll ever see

- Like Kylan would just be literally staring at her with the biggest lovey doe eyes you'll ever see, and she would just either not notice or brush it off as something else

- This ship won't be as obvious as stonegrot either. It will be small doses of pining until we get to the big stuff so hold your horses.

- But eventually the mutual flirting will become way more obvious as time passes

- The first kiss will be random and maybe a little awkward (these babies have no experience, so be easy on them 😞)

- Kylan is just the sweetest thing, he will always ask her if she needs anything or if she is doing okay if she seems upset or under a lot of pressure.

- Sometimes Brea will try to say she is okay when she isn't so that way Kylan doesn't have to worry, he sees through her lies sometimes

- Kylan is a blanket hog during cold nights but Brea lets him have them, since she's is used to cold weather

- Kylan. Is. The. Little. Spoon.

- Actually Brea can be the little spoon sometimes…

- At first they were kinda weary about letting their relationship go out to anyone other than their friends, Brea was especially anxious about letting Seladon know, but as the days went on they started doing more PDA

- SPEAKING OF PDA..!!!

- Brea had to be the one to initiate it at the start

- Kylan would always get kinda nervous about overstepping boundaries and his face would turn red every time

- But eventually he got confident enough to hold her hand in public, he still needs to get used to other stuff

- Brea likes his songs and stories, sometimes he'll sing to her when she finds it hard to fall asleep, she'll memorize every new story he tells or comes up with

- Since Brea was raised in the life of royalty I don't think she has a whole lot of experience with cooking

- Luckily there's Kylan to help change that! Kind of… . It was a bit of a mess the first time

Royalhimbo (Seladon x Gurjin)

- these guys…

- It wasn't romantic at first

- More like some sort of friendship

- Both being kids of a Maudra I would assume they at least kinda knew each other? Maybe..?

- The fact that she said his name when they hugged indicates much since I don't think she would know or remember his name from their brief meet in the dream space (if you even call that a meeting)

- But if they didn't know each other beforehand then I suppose they got to know each other after the second battle of Stone in the Wood

- Seladon's first thoughts on Gurjin was that he was funny, but also a little obnoxious at times and she would never think in a million years that she would fall in love with a guy like him

- Boy was she wrong

- Gurjin kinda dropped hints that he liked her

- Dropping her random compliments in their conversations, finds excuses to try to be with her

- And she didn't think much of these little details, but she wasn't completely oblivious either.

- She didn't mind though, in fact she thought it was nice to have someone other than her sisters to just casually talk with

- However she didn't quite realize that she liked him back until she caught herself thinking about him, giggling over something funny he said earlier that day. That's when she was like "oh shit, I think I might like this guy"

- Okay so let's get one thing straight, Gurjin is way better at this flirting stuff than Seladon alright. She did not know any of this stuff and it was kinda cringey and awkward when she tried lol

- Gurjin likes to tease her sometimes,and he helps lighten her up when she feels too stressed or when she starts to doubt her capability of being all-Maudra

- They don't do spooning, however Seladon will just simple snuggle into Gurjin's shoulder as he pets her hair

- They secretly hold hands under the table

Drenchgrot (Naia x Amri)

- This isn't necessarily a headcanon but more of a thought, but didn't they technically have their first kiss in Tides where they had to save the tree in the Crystal Desert? Or are we just gonna write that off?? I'm just wondering

- Anyway, to the actual headcanons

- Amri would get along well with Pemma and Eliona, however Gurjin would act like he didn't really care and he kinda put on a little bit of that "protective brother" persona around him

- But we all know he liked him, he just didn't want to show it

- With Naia's healing vliyaya and Amri's concoctions, these guys were the medics of the resistance

- Doctor couple 💕

- Naia is the big spoon, Amri just snuggles up against her and it is the cutest thing

That hug they both shared at the Second Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood was definitely the spark that started their relationship.

Now Gurjin’s the type of guy that likes and wants to get along with everyone, thus he’s always the guy that chases after any Gelfling regardless of what clan they came from. So it’s not surprising that he starts flirting with the All-Maudra. 

But Gurjin becomes stupefied when Seladon starts flirting back. It finally hits him like “oh Thra I’ve been flirting with the All-Maudra”

Seladon gravitates towards Gurjin because of his very friendly personality and she legitimately finds him funny. Not to mention, she carries a lot of guilt and is very hard on herself, thinking she doesn’t deserve to be happy. In a lot of ways, Gurjin helps her through many of her dark moments. For Gurjin, she brings structure and stability in his life and believes Seladon is a great leader.

As Seladon is busy with the other maudras in making decisions along with the leaders of the Gelfling Resistance they don’t always have time for each other, but they try to work around their schedules. Gurjin does have more free time so whenever Seladon is in a meeting, he waits for her (sometimes for hours).

They came from very different worlds and cultural standards and it was particularly tough to get past. But they unlearn toxic behavior/thoughts and replace it with wonderful things from both of their cultures which, in turn, brought them closer together.

As an example, both had to learn about the dining customs of the other clan. So Gurjin looking very confused what’s appropriate table manners and which of the dozen utensils he’s supposed to use for the right meal. Meanwhile, Seladon needed to learn to get over the disgust of eating food with just a skewer and her hands as well as helping out in the kitchen and clean up. 

At some point, Seladon told Gurjin the morally wrong things she did out of anger or in order to appease the skeksis. She wanted to be honest with him and not pretend to be this perfect leader Gurjin sees her as. Gurjin is, of course, shocked and even mad at it, especially even thinking about sacrificing the Gelfling to the skeksis (considering what Gurjin personally went through). But he also knows that Seladon understands what she did was wrong and has been trying so hard to correct her mistakes. It doesn’t erase what she did, but she’s willing to own up to it and do better. And Gurjin ultimately decides that he’ll stick by her as long as she continues to improve herself. 

It was definitely a shock when everyone heard the news Seladon and Gurjin got together. Some were more overjoyed than others. Brea was so happy for her sister and think the two make a great couple. Naia, on the other hand, took a very long time to accept it (”Vapras and Drenchens getting together... MASS HYSTERIA!”)

@glow-moss Thanks for the ask!! I decided to write for Seladon and Gurjin, since you gave me the choice! I’m starting to really enjoy them as a pairing, and this prompt called for something slightly angsty and soft.

If I Could Make It Better

Seladon was awake. Laying on her side, she blinked in the darkness. It was late, and the night felt quiet and still.

Gurjin slept warm and heavy beside her. Coarse sheets bunched at his hips, letting the soft glow of the sisters drift in through the open window and illuminate the strength in his shoulders and back.

She had told him earlier he should go back to his own quarters, warned him that it would be better for them both that no one knew they had been meeting. But as she watched him breath, slow and even, she was glad he stayed.

Lifting a finger, she traced the definition in his muscles and the bumps along his spine. Even in the dim light she could see the dark bruise-like scars just above his shoulder blades. They’d never talked about them, but she knew what they were.

She had heard the stories of ‘Bold Gurjin’, alone in the Castle of the Crystal, being tortured and drained. She remembered being strapped into that chair herself, The Scientist’s machine looming ominous behind her.

A sudden ache rushed through her chest at the memory of all she had nearly lost, had nearly given away.

Moving her hand from his spine, she let a finger glide along one of the scar’s rough outlines. As she did, Gurjin shifted, her featherlight touch became a press, and he grunted.

Quickly pulling away, Seladon watched as he rolled onto his back and reached up to grip at his shoulder. His eyes were still half shut, but he was awake.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

He turned his head and smiled at her, the gold tones in his skin shining in the moonlight.

“It’s ok.”

“They still hurt?’ she asked, concern plain in her voice.

Gurjin squeezed at his shoulder, his fingers flexing before dropping away so his hand rested in the space between them.

“Only sometimes.”

Seladon swallowed and turned so she lay on her back. Though she could still feel his gaze on her, she couldn’t look at him - not when her chest felt so heavy, not when her throat felt so tight. He may have known all she had done, but despite his kindness, his compassion, and the growing love she refused to let him acknowledge aloud, he could never know how much regret she lived with and how much pain it caused her.

“Hey,” Gurjin said, voice low as he rolled onto his side.

But she said nothing, eyes searching the darkness overhead. A moment passed in silence. Then, beneath the sheets she felt him slide closer to her, and slowly, almost cautiously, he took her hand in his.

Feeling his warmth and the tenderness in his touch, Seladon saw the moonlight above her waver, as if rippling on water.  Squeezing his hand she took a deep shaky breath.

“Seladon,” He was propped up an his elbow looking down at her, his long dreaded hair swept behind his ears “It’s ok.”

Then, the grip on her hand loosened. And in the darkness he cupped her face and brought their lips together.

Seladon felt the ache in her chest grow heavier, but reaching up to cover Gurjin’s hand with hers, pulling him closer to deepen the kiss, she thought that at least she wouldn’t have to bear the weight alone.
