Lance Week 23, Day 5: Outfit Swap!

I'm back on my [Galar] bullshit again! I had a big brainwave when I remembered the tradition of football players swapping shirts after a match, and it was a great excuse to get Lance into that Motostoke fire-themed uniform. My original idea was to do a swap with Drake of the Hoenn E4, but you can probably already figure out where that energy was re-directed to!

The Chairman and the Supernova are often seen together after a long day of work in Hammerlocke City. Lately, they have been closer than ever, and people can't help but notice the way they look at each other.

This drawing takes place shortly after Briar moves to Hammerlocke City. Since Briar's lab connects directly with the Power Plant, Rose and Briar often see each other and go out together for dinner in the afternoon.

... At this point, they have both realized they have feelings for the other, but haven't admitted it out loud yet. Still, their actions speak louder than their words, because despite being too oblivious to figure it out, others have noticed the way they look at other, the way they care for the other.

However, because Rose lives in Wyndon, they can't see each other as frequently as before, but whenever Rose has to travel to Hammerlocke to oversee something about the Eternatus Project, he makes sure to invite his Lead Scientist out for dinner.

In some way, Eternatus brought them together.

During the winter, Rose realized that Briar doesn't handle the cold very well; and even if she's all covered up, she can't help but tremble, so he offers her his scarf. He also understood why Briar has a certain affinity to fire-types, and seeing this side of her is very cute.

Saw someone post similar refs for Hammerlocke on Twitter and thought it was really neat so I took some screenshots myself!

The dark stone and the castle always reminded me of Edinburgh but I think Hammerlocke is kind of a mish-mash of different cities. And of course the university is definitely based on Oxbridge...but I suppose it could be Durham or St. Andrews as well...

Haha, oh well! No sense thinking too much about it! It's not like I'm writing a story about a Hammerlocke University student who goes on a field trip to the Vault and I am struggling with worldbuilding or anything! No sirree sir!

Took 4 months, but my Raihan nendoroid finally came in! Super freaked out when I came home and the box was just there without any heads up Q♡Q

Figured it was also time to take advantage of my work place having a colored printer and put together a Hammerlocke backdrop ewe def more to come now that I put together a makeshift template with measurements yeeee!!

Lance Week '22 Super-Delayed Cross-Post no.4 - 'New Job'! So anyone who follows me will know this has been my beloved headcannon for over a year now - Air-Sea/Mountain Rescue Lance! It makes so much sense - his costume designs and colours from Gen 3 on, Dragonite's pokedex entries about benevolently saving drowning sailors in the wild, never mind with a trainer, his proclivity for heroics and proximity to the super-dangerous Mount Silver... I could go on xD

Compare and Contrast: Sibling Edition

Denton Ambermight was quite similar to his sister… in some ways.

They were both rather interested in history (his interest leaned political, where hers was material). They both wore glasses ( He was nearsighted, she was far sighted). They both had their mother’s eyes (Brown)

They were also both not big talkers, though admittedly his lack of communication was connected to his disability - Anya just wasn’t much of a talker unless it was one of her special interests.

But they were both quite different, in more ways than just their age difference and the color of their hair (Hers was auburn like their father, his black like their mother)

For one, Denton was a teacher of secondary school students and taught at the Galarian School for the Deaf in Hammerlocke, and Anya was an archival librarian at the Nimbasa City Public Library in Unova. Where he specialized in disability education, she specialized in preservation and restoration of ancient text.

For another, He had gone on a pokemon journey, and Anya had flat out refused to - seeming completely fine with her single yamask as a companion and nothing else (She ended up with her own little team anyway through both a “gift” from him and happenstance while out on route 9 near Circhester)

And their demeanor were also quite different - perhaps the most pertinent difference, really. While they were siblings, they really were almost nothing alike in that department.

Despite both being quite distinct in personality and ‘quirky’ by most normative definitions, for some reason, Anya was always pegged as the “weird” one between the two - a comment that she treated as a compliment and wore as a badge through most of their childhood and into her early teen years- though if anyone called her that to her face, her Yamask would get in their face.

She wasn’t even “traditionally” weird (Neither was he, but they were completely different brands of weird. It wasn’t comparable in the slightest)

He really, really should have “called it”, so to speak, when she messaged him one day from Unova, a few months after her thirtieth birthday, with a photo of paperwork from a doctor stating that she’d been diagnosed with autism. She’d only commented on the photo with a caption of “Whelp. This feels obvious in hindsight”

It made a lot of sense that she was diagnosed… and also that he was the only one she sent it to out of the family. Their parents - however well intentioned - often brushed off her … “quirks”... as they called them, by stating that she was “Just like [their] father”, who Denton had also come to believe might have just never been diagnosed as a child. Nevertheless, a question remained:

‘What convinced you to get tested?’ he’d asked.

‘Friends’ she’d responded bluntly.

Denton let out a laugh at that

Friends? Good.

Anya needed as many of those as she could muster.
