Hi Hell, I wanted to get your thoughts on something. My friend who has been vegetarian for close to 30 years is thinking about becoming vegan. His main reason is that the pain and suffering of an animal in the large majority of the animal product industry is not worth the enjoyment he gets from cheese, milk, etc. He hypothesizes that most people are not vegan due to lack of education about the industry’s methods, and because eating meat is so normalized. I mostly agree, but something about what he’s saying makes me feel bad. Maybe because I don’t see myself ever becoming vegan, due to how much I love certain foods, but I like to think of myself as an empathetic and moral person. So I think I just feel quite selfish.
He is a very analytical and logical thinker, and says he wants to find more anti-vegan arguments before deciding for sure, but can’t seem to find many. What do you (and your followers) think? I was thinking you aren’t vegan, but I don’t actually know.
This is very much not my lane, but if you want my two cents then for me it comes down to a few things.
One: there is a basic mass of food that any human needs to consume in order to stay alive. That can be plants, it can be animals, it can be animal byproducts. For the a significant proportion of commercially produced food, there is a negative impact. It's hard to quantify; in some cases it is certainly direct, quality of life issues for animals. In other cases it's more broad environmental impact from commercial farming, or quality of life for the human laborers involved in harvesting etc. It's hard to come up with any objective measurement for harm when comparing individual animal suffering vs human quality of life vs large scale environmental issues. There's plenty of information out there on some of the vegan diet staples and how increases in farming things like quinoa have enormously detrimental effects on their native communities, if that's something your friend is not already aware.
Two: There is a degree of this that is just...unavoidable. Things eating other things is the way living creatures survive, and on a systematic level there's not a ton we individually can do to change things--and on a practical level, there's only so much you can afford to spend on food, and organic, cruelty free stuff is more expensive. There is a level of privilege in being able to choose to spend your money in that way that is not always an option for everyone.
I'm not vegan. I'm not vegetarian. I care deeply about animals, and I'm aware of what commercial husbandry looks like--it's pretty terrible. I still eat meat. I try to do so as ethically as I reasonably can.
I don't have an issue with eating other animals. It's a part of nature. To me, I see the obligation more to do our best to try to get meat (or byproducts) that have been raised as well as we can manage. Free range eggs are pretty easy to come by, if you live in the country. Same with locally made cheeses and butters, even farm fresh milk--some places have self-serve milking that allows cows to roam in pastures and then be milked at will. Price and availability will vary by where you are, but it's more and more common; as more and more people start to care about how the people and animals involved in making our food are treated, better options become more available.
It also should be noted that the animals involved in farming are almost universally completely domesticated. There's no alternative for these animals and their progeny except for life in human care. These breeds require human aid for their own health and safety, because we have been breeding them for (in many cases) thousands of years to rely on us and to develop traits that will not aid them in the wild. If everyone decided, tomorrow, to become vegan, then these animals would need to remain in human care for however many thousands of generations it would take to breed them back to the ability to survive without us, or we would have to sterilize them en mass and terminate these breeds through lack of reproduction. It is not an option to just release these farm animals into the wild. Domesticated animals require human care. Some of them, like pigeons, have gone feral when we abandoned them, but they are not like their wild cousins, and it shows.
Because of the selective breeding involved in domestion, most of these animals are producing byproducts--eggs, milk, honey, wool, etc--in quantities that they do not need. While some species have been bred to do that to their own detriment, most heritage breeds are fully capable of producing more than they need of these things, and there can be true symbiosis between these animals and their human caretakers. Some of these things they need to have removed for their own health. It's an ancient bargain--we keep them safe, and warm, and healthy, and protected, and they give us that which they have in abundance. The problem isn't the animal product, it's how it's produced commercially.
So yeah--veganism is one option, but it is, in my opinion, a narrow scope at an issue that is far more nuanced. I think it's equally ethical to aim for a diet that focuses on local, ethical farming practices--for growing crops, for caring for meat animals, for beekeeping, for chickens and sheep and whatever else we need. We've spent longer than any of us will live making these animals part of our world--discarding them and what they can give us is not going to benefit them. We just have to learn how to treat them respectfully.

Your nerves are on fire, each one a tiny beacon for arousal to run its rickety, lurching course through you. Overwhelmed, you bring your hands up and brace them against the headboard of the bed, clasping them into tight fists to calm the adrenaline rolling like waves through your veins.
It’s been too long since you felt this way, burdened with trembling limbs and stomach-knotting excitement, something that could only be accomplished when you have a certain surgeon between your gripping thighs. It’s been too long since you’ve seen Zayne, let alone have his hard, defined abs taut where you cradle his stomach.
He props his shoulders on dark blue satin pillows, his head in the perfect position for you to look at him. The unyielding gaze he holds does nothing to calm your heaving chest or aching nether regions as you take your time soaking and drinking him in.
Zayne has already changed so much since you last were with him. Your eyes are anchored to the widening of an already broad physique and the stretch and bulge of his biceps when he runs his hands down your back and over your ass to grip at the meat of your thighs. The golden glow of the nightstand lamp setting off against dark hazel eyes and battle-worn skin tempts you to squeeze his slowly fluctuating chest.
Before you can seal the deal on your spiraling dirty thoughts, Zayne catches your intentions, as if the position you were in didn’t already make it obvious. It’s a game that both amuses and frustrates you at the same time.
“It seems someone worked themselves up rather quickly.”
Lifting your sight from his chest, you meet a playfully mocking glint hidden behind a firm gaze. To keep your annoyance, or impatience rather, from showing, you set your attention on the intricate designs of the headboard.
“Just admiring the finish on the wood,” you excuse. “Lacquer?”
Zayne lifts a hand and pinches at your chin to force you to concentrate on him causing you to take your first shuttering breath that night. With piercing eyes, he searches for something in your face, so hauntingly that it makes you throb, and you silently hope he doesn’t feel your legs clamp harder at his waist or how much you're beginning to leak.
He doesn’t need it. As always, Zayne finds what he wants. His voice is inquisitive but the look in his eyes is teasing when he finally asks, “Are you sure that’s what it is? Your pupils are dilated, and I don’t think you’re one to really care about woodwork to that degree.”
You huff at his observation, always the smart-mouthed one. Could he blame you for being hot and bothered when you have an undeniably attractive man under you, especially when you haven't been able to touch him in weeks? It’s so hard with your schedules. Even now, it’s thanks to an unexpected sick day that your schedules managed to align. So, yeah, maybe you were more worked up than usual, but Zayne was a lot of things, stern, serious, reservedly kind, and very much aware of his commanding good looks and the effect it has on you.
Luckily, you’re not the only one who is having trouble maintaining a calm visage. His face holds a barely recognizable flush, his chest strains with too-deep breaths, and his large, scarred hands squeeze the back of your legs to an almost painful point before he swipes your tender skin with manicured thumbs.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that the tepid atmosphere is growing too tense for both of you. Who admits to it first is anyone’s guess, but it’s not likely to be Zayne without some encouragement.
So, you prance your fingertips across his angular jaw before drawing a seductive line from the point of his chin through the center of his pectorals, a line you plan to use to start your reacquaintance with his body very soon. The sticky heat radiates from him and seeps into you, knotting the aching twists in your lower stomach even tighter.
“You’re one to talk,” you remark, displaying your own mischievous thoughts. Your hand finds a place to roost over his left side and sprawls open over his heartbeat, reading the steadily rising pace. “I can hear you breathing from here, and your skin is so hot and sweaty.”
For someone whom others wrongfully describe as cold, something about him is smoldering when he rakes his eyes over your body. It’s hungry, and you’re so ready to devour and be devoured, as he forces himself to meet your face again.
“It’s the fever.”
Holding in your laughter, you smack your lips at him. “Didn’t you say you were feeling better today? You didn’t lie to me, did you, Zayne?”
The man doesn’t respond, usually a sign that he was thinking but the only thing on his mind was your hand running orbits around his nipple, outlining the smooth round expanse circling it. You grope lightly at his chest, marveling how full it makes your hand, before cascading that touch lower and lower.
The girth of his cock twitches against your ass, and you think you almost got him as he begins to ripple under your exploration; alas, he manages to keep in his sighs until you start to comb through the delicate valley of shallow black hair that curls from his lower stomach and disappears under his sweatpants.
“I knew you would blow it out of proportion otherwise,” he plays off, releasing another low groan. “It didn’t seem to stop you from marching right over, however.”
“Oh?”
Pitifully pouting, you roll onto your side next to him, press your chest into his arm, and lean in to kiss under his ear.
“You don’t like me taking care of you?” you whine with a pathetic infliction and a whimper, all the while adding pressure as you begin to massage his groin over his briefs, close enough he can feel the sensitive flesh right above the base of his cock imprinting with your touch but not quite where he wants it or how he wants it. “That’s so mean.”
Playfully, you blow against his ear, and there’s the smallest shudder that makes your heart pound hard. There’s nothing like seeing him slowly give in, trying to act in control when his cock readily jumps and stiffens as if to reach your hand. The reaction encourages you to shuffle your hand under his briefs in a few ticklish swipes only to be met with disappointment when his voice catches, hiding a guttural sound you could only curse him for not letting you hear when you wrap your fingers around his cock.
It frustrates you how he won’t even give you an inch of nonresistance, but his cock pulses at your touch, and you smile to yourself at how he couldn’t hide the eager hard-on that you were quickly encouraging with only a few twists and pets.
“When you forced me to let you take care of me,” he begins, pausing only to hiss softly when your fist tightens, which causes the warm slick of precum to seep into his pants and a brief fluttering of his eyes before he recollects himself. “I assumed that meant you’d make a wreck of my kitchen like last time.”
Slowly, you slide your calf over the top of his knee.
“My soup made you better though.”
Zayne groans as you pull him free from his clothing, holding onto his cock as it springs from too-tight confines. Your thumb follows the thick pulsing vein running up the side of his cock before tracing his dripping slit. His head slides back against the pillow, tilting back as he quietly gulps, and his thick throat stretches with the swallow.
“At the cost of my best pot.”
“A win's a win,” you mumble against the crux of his neck, which turns into a sigh when his arm makes space to slide under you, wrap around your upper hip, and squeeze at your ass.
“Now, I see you only had one thing in mind when you came over, after all.”
“That’s not it,” you mewl, squirming when he pinches your cheek harder.
“Are you saying you didn’t come over to take advantage when you have me like this?” he asks.
“You make it sound so calculated!” You shake your head. “I just know this will fix you up in no time. Besides, I missed you.”
There’s a short and irritatingly self-satisfied chuckle from him that makes your chest vibrate with the makings of a moan as his deepening voice rumbles in your ears. “I’m in your capable hands then,” he finally relents, not that you expected any other outcome, and you make your move to flip on top of him again.
There’s a snap somewhere finally releasing any inhibitions when your lips meet. It’s passionate, filled with every desire that’s been burning in him since he’s seen you. Zayne can be gentle, but he can also be bruising. Sometimes he’s a mix of both like when his tongue glides on top of yours and his teeth graze against your bottom lip during the short moments you break for air before capturing each other’s taste again.
You moan into his mouth when he cups the back of your neck and pulls you closer, deepening the kiss to the point you're becoming dizzy. It takes some strength to break free from the passion of it all, but you want more of him, and you’re not willing to wait anymore. So, you pull away and allow your mouth to collide against his collar before he has time to capture you again. Zayne’s eyes glower, half-lidded as he watches every pucker of your lips and every kiss and bite on his body.
Zayne slides a palm up the small of your back, the other going to rub the crux of your thigh, dipping inward to stroke at the yielding flesh right at your center. You moan against him, doing your best not to start dry humping him like you’re in heat whenever his cock pulse against your lower belly, but the scent wafting from him was becoming too much. So, you quickly begin to make your way to the promised land, trailing kisses along the way.
“I missed you,” you puff out softly before wading your tongue across his nipple then under his chest and to his stomach. Releasing his cock, you slide your hands down his sides, making sure to keep them aligned with the movement of your kisses. “You don’t know how much.”
Zayne brushes his fingers along your hand, following down your arm before gently cupping the side of your face, his thumb gliding over your cheek in a tender return of your sentiment as his once proud demeanor in his eyes softens with the smallest of glances from you.
“Is it more than I’ve missed you?” he whispers, and when you nod, he smiles. “I don’t think that’s possible.” Seeing you like this, so beautiful, all his, is a luxury. “I never tire of seeing you.”
Feeling a rush of shyness overtake you, you muffle the small sigh of his name against his stomach. Butterflies filling your stomach, you slide further down and kneel, your knees digging into the end of the bed as you sit back on them, your ass in the air as you hover your face over his lap. He’s so big that you’re never entirely sure where to start. You could go for where he’s most sensitive or—
“You can always use your hands instead if you don't think you can fit it all in your mouth,” he instructs half-jokingly, causing you to grow flustered at your overthinking.
“This isn’t the first time, I know how—” You clamp your mouth shut when you remember the first time you tried, something you’re sure he wouldn’t let you forget. “Don’t,” you order before sliding your tongue over his tip to clean away the pre-cum.
Your tongue laps along his glans as you slowly take his head into your mouth. It’s only when you finally get to work, sliding your mouth halfway down then back up that he finally stops his teasing and lets you have your way with him.
There’s an audible sound of relaxation when you squeeze his base with your palm and purse your lips around him. There’s a certain pride that comes with knowing you’re the only one who can see him like this, with his shoulders lax, eyes closing in bliss, and jaw slightly slacked as he groans. It’s not an easy sight to imagine on someone as stern as Zayne but the look of arousal was also something that seemed like it was made for him, which only causes your legs to squirm with need when it evolves into a low grumble from his chest.
You push it a little further to turn it into a growl by relaxing your throat and allowing it to press against the back, pulling back up and slurping the sheen of saliva clean from him before lapping your tongue over the tip. When you repeat the process, his hips twitch and buck, causing you to whimper when you feel more liquid scalding down your throat.
With a quick reposition to sit up more and force you closer, he presses both hands to cup at your cheeks, lifting your head partway up as he lightly strokes your cheeks with the pads of his thumbs. Briefly, you look at him, heart fluttering a bit at the flush dusting the bridge of his nose and the wetness of his parted lips.
“You’re so good,” he breathes out, a chilly flow emanating from him, “so good for me.”
Blinking away the water in your eyes, you moan around him, the vibrations rolling down his heated flesh as you suck your cheeks around him as he holds your face. One hand goes to the back of your head, and you bob once again with the encouragement of his hand pressing down on your head.
“Fuck,” he hisses out when you pop him out your mouth and brush your lips down the side of his shaft. You pepper it in kitten kisses before nipping lightly. You squeeze around his tip, making it your mission to keep your thumb grinding his slit and blushing head while you cup and suck his balls.
When you feel them strain and tense, not once but twice in your mouth you have enough warning to know he’s about to cum. It’s with one last stroke of his shaft and one last quick suck around his head that he paints your mouth white, the excess seeping from your mouth and flooding over his length.
You take your time cleaning your mess, like you promised. It’s with slow, deliberate movements as you allow him to ride out his much too quickly fading high, the last throbbing spilling the last drops of his finish on your lips. You release him with a pop and a sigh.
“How messy,” he quietly remarks, causing you to tense as his thumb ghosts over your lips. “You missed a spot,” he explains and slides the finger into your mouth for you to readily close around. He wipes it clean against your tongue before sealing your mouth with a kiss. He slides his finger free from your kiss, and you can feel the lingering wetness of your saliva against your face when he holds you in place to kiss you more passionately.
His strength starts to become too much when he grips your shoulders, pushes you towards the bed, and pins you on your back.
Breaking the kiss and pushing against his arms, you puff out, “Wait, I’m supposed to be in charge today.”
“Sorry to change your plans, but I don’t think I can hold back anymore,” he explains with a growing smile that makes shivers climb up your spine from the sheer hunger in it. “Allow me to show you how much I missed you as well.”

I think Anakin cares about Obi-Wan and the Jedi as much as he is CAPABLE of caring about anybody. By which I mean, he will never care about Obi-Wan or the Jedi as much as he cares about HIMSELF and what HE wants and how HE feels. They will always, always, ALWAYS be second to that.
I think Anakin has a difficult relationship with the Jedi Council as an authoritative body and a difficult relationship with Obi-Wan as his master for similar reasons. Understandably, he comes into both of these relationships with certain biases from his background as well as the relatively recent rejection from the Council coloring his opinions. I think it forces a certain inferiority complex and distance in Anakin's relationship with them to some degree that he never quite gets over.
And we see this come up over and over again. He's "fine" with the Jedi right up until he isn't. My favorite example of this is Luminara during the Weapons Factory episode on Geonosis. For the first two thirds of that episode, Anakin and Luminara actually get along REALLY WELL. He has zero issues fighting alongside her, she expresses that she's missed working with him, they're FINE, they seem comfortable and friendly around each other and have a history with each other that is clearly positive. And then the padawans blow up the factory and Anakin and Luminara don't know if they made it out. Anakin goes to comfort Luminara and she responds with "Be at ease" which seems to immediately throw Anakin on the defensive. For the rest of the episode, he intentionally provokes Luminara (unsuccessfully), starts arguments with her, and even tries to throw her under the bus in front of her own padawan by claiming she'd given up. He likes Luminara and is willing to comfort her RIGHT UP UNTIL HE ISN'T. Right up until she says something more Jedi-like and he takes it as a personal insult and he then proceeds to be unkind to her without her even doing anything to earn it more than once. He's unwilling to meet her halfway or understand her perspective on it, he's JUST aggressive and arrogant. Anakin sees Luminara's calm and pragmatic approach to the situation as something of a personal condemnation when she never means it that way and all of that friendly demeanor he had before just... goes away. Because the way HE FEELS is more important than his relationship to Luminara.
So I think he LIKES the Jedi individually, I think he does care about the ones he considers friends, but his care is NOT unconditional, it comes with strings. He gives loyalty to people but he expects that same loyalty back, even when that's not something the Jedi can do for him, it's not something they've EVER been able to do for him and they would've been pretty clear about that (he's clearly aware of it when he recites the "attachment is forbidden" rule to Padme). So rather than leaving the Jedi to search out what he needs elsewhere, he just lets his resentment towards them grow and grow for years.
It's not helped by Palpatine intentionally stoking his resentment, of course, telling him that the Jedi act the way they do because they're jealous of him rather than because their culture is just... different. He encourages Anakin's arrogance and drives more and more of a wedge between them so even if Anakin from TPM COULD'VE ultimately figured it out and had a perfectly healthy relationship with the Jedi regardless of what kind of loyalty they offered him, he keeps getting offered a simpler path to take, and he keeps choosing that path instead of the one the Jedi try to show him. Anakin lets his resentment and arrogance grow, lets that distance between himself and the Jedi grow wider and wider until it becomes an insurmountable gulf.
I think Anakin does believe he cares about these people, and on some level he does, but that relationship is sort-of toxic from the beginning and we see that with the way he acts in AOTC and the way he acts towards people like Luminara and even Ahsoka and Obi-Wan in TCW. Anakin cares about people only so long as they play by his rules. He does the same to Padme pretty often when he demands she obey him because he's her husband and gets angry and punishes her when she refuses.
Anakin is capable of listening to the Jedi, capable of taking the occasional criticism, but he never actually learns from his mistakes, never takes the Jedi's advice. He listens, but he doesn't really hear anything. He retains nothing from it. It goes in one ear and out the other because he's CONVINCED that nothing the Jedi have to say to him is worth listening to unless it's praise because he's so super special that if they're criticizing him it's only because they're jealous.
Even in ROTS, when he is supposedly at his most mature (although it is also simultaneously his most unstable), he is throwing temper tantrums at the Council, he is showing favoritism and a lack of willingness to understand the Council's point of view. He can't see the similarities between the Council asking him to spy on someone they can prove is corrupt and Palpatine literally telling Anakin to be his eyes and ears on the Jedi Council. He condemns the Council for being unfair and cruel for asking him to spy on a friend, but sees zero problems with Palpatine giving him a promotion so he can pass on along sensitive information to him about the Jedi's leadership. Even when he apologizes to Obi-Wan, he isn't actually apologizing for believing the Council to be in the wrong about not making him a master or asking him to spy on Palpatine, he's mostly just apologizing for throwing a temper tantrum about it in front of the Council and humiliating Obi-Wan as a result. He STILL thinks the Council's wrong and Palpatine is right.
And personally I think that says everything you need to know about how Anakin ultimately views the Jedi. When it's the Jedi asking him to spy on Palpatine, it's asking him to betray a FRIEND, but when it's Palpatine asking him to spy on the Jedi, it's completely justified. This tells me that Anakin doesn't truly see the Jedi as his friends, as people he genuinely cares about. Anakin is friendly with them and I think he cares about them on a distant professional level, but that's really it. I think he's probably CONVINCED himself it's more, that he sees them as friends or even family, but his reaction to the two requests in this film show us the truth, one Anakin himself may not be willing to acknowledge.
And it's clear by ROTS that the Jedi are aware that Anakin has a close relationship with Palpatine. It's not something Anakin tries to hide necessarily, he gets into a dick measuring contest with Tarkin over who is Palpatine's favorite in season 3 of TCW, so it's not exactly shocking that Obi-Wan might reasonably be worried that Anakin may say something to Palpatine about the Rako Hardeen mission if he was in on it. I do think Obi-Wan probably had more than one reason for the choices he made. Anakin is better at acting and lying in TCW than he is in the films, but if we assume he's supposed to be someone who is notoriously lacking in subtlety and bad at keeping secrets and wears his heart on his sleeve, Obi-Wan is probably ENTIRELY RIGHT that if Anakin had known Obi-Wan was alive, he would've given away the truth to anyone with eyes even if he DIDN'T say anything. So it may be less about Obi-Wan worrying Anakin might specifically spill the beans to Palpatine and more of a general worry that Anakin isn't a good enough actor to pull off the reaction they'd need in order to convince the galaxy that Obi-Wan was dead, which would blow the entire thing and put Palpatine's life at risk (which, even if none of the Jedi LIKE Palpatine, he's still the leader of the Republic and they haven't quite gotten to the point where they're ready and willing to kill him in order to remove him from office, so they'd rightfully see the death of the Chancellor as something that could easily cause enough chaos to lose them the war). It could also be a combination of both of these things, Anakin's close relationship with Palpatine AND his bad acting skills.
So yeah, Anakin does care about the Jedi, but his care comes with strings, and he doesn't care about them enough not to murder them all when it benefits him to do so, so his care doesn't really amount to much in the end.

Asking this because I genuinely need an explanation, not as a counterargument.
I'm 100% aware of the queer erasure going on in JP → EN translations. The shameless hiding of LGBTQ+ subtext is ridiculous. However, some examples have been bothering me lately ("bothering" as in, I've been thinking about them a lot), these examples being the lack of usage of the word "love", especially in one of Minori's.
In one of Minori's dialogues, she states that she loves Haruka (originally using "daisuki", if I recall correctly). The expression "love" in this case gets translated to "have feelings for", which is considered to be erasure. That's what bugs me: why would it be queer erasure?
In my first language, Spanish, we have the expression "te quiero" (literally "I want you", though it has no possessive connotations and it's a more toned version of loving), and the stronger "te amo" ("I love you"). The latter is generally used romantically, though it can be used in other contexts (I tell my deepest and closest friends both "te quiero" and "te amo", for example). From my understanding, English doesn't have an equivalent to "te quiero", so "I love you" can apply in any context.
However, and again, to my understanding, "having feelings for someone" is only ever used romantically. Maybe it's weaker than loving someone in a sense, but still, you wouldn't say you have feelings for someone who you wish to have/maintain a platonic relationship with (correct me if I'm wrong).
So, to my understanding:
"daisuki" → [strong] loving someone, with vague connotations (generally interpreted as romantic)
"I love you" → [strong] certainly used romantically, yet it can be platonic or familial too
"I have feelings for you" → [weaker] used romantically.
Does that make sense or am I being ignorant?
Ah sorry if I confused you with that example from the MMJ main story. I don't think it's erasure because the EN translation keeps the pretty much the same meaning, I pointed it out because of EN's refusal to translate the words suki/daisuki as love in certain instances.
EN seems to be willing to translate suki/daisuki directly when it's being used to talk about things or aspects of a person, like in these instances:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, when it's used directly about a person, the translators always find some way around it, like in these instances:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(An/Kohane are an exception and iirc siblings are too?)
(Also in the Asahi example he uses a conjugated form of horeru but it means pretty much the same thing)
Whilst most of these convey the original meaning to some degree and don't really count for erasure, it's still odd that EN will not let the characters say they love each other. It's not even like it has to be interpreted romantically. Like it's firmly established that Leo/need are childhood best friends from the start, I don't think a lot of readers are going to jump straight to romance if the girls said they love each other. It's like they're removing it as a "just in case" so that no one can view it as romantic at all.
Yeah, you're right that "having feelings for someone" is by far more commonly used in a romantic sense. Whilst some people irl probably use it platonically (most likely aspec ppl), in media you're really only going to hear it used romanitcally. It's not weaker than "I love you" imo, but it depends on who you ask because to other people it might be weaker/stronger.

This chapter was so fun to me and I guess what puts in all together how so many lives could have been spared if Kenjaku and Takaba had found each other earlier because the more this goes on the more it proves my own theory that Kenjaku just desperately needed enrichment and a equal mutual standing relationship of some kind all along. Yuuji would not have existed at all or at least had a different father if Kenjaku figured out what they actually needed and wanted in their life.
Yeah, I think they were like this (what we saw the last chapters) when young, but then gradually became obsessed with the wrong things and that overtook any other concerns they might've had and made them able to hurt and use the people they care about. I think they were always a little shit though and had low or no empathy from the start, which made finding friends difficult. Like, they clearly have no trouble hurting Takaba and he returns it to a degree (running someone over with a jet ski is not safe!). There was always a fascination for the grotesque and finding out new things in them, I think, just not as extreme. For example, they seem genuinely interested in medicine, biology, physics etc., and especially medicine and biology has to involve some cutting up of living beings. So there would probably be some death caused by Kenjaku and they would've experimented and pushed some ethical lines either way, but not to the point of wanting to merge their best friend with Japan's population against her will.
I wonder how much Tengen influenced Kenjaku's behaviour. They were/are friends and while Tengen doesn't strike me as the type to play children's games with Kenjaku, they must've gotten along very well at some point for Kenjaku to get so attached to her. Disagreements are normal, they have them with Takaba too and Kenjaku seems to need and enjoy that challenge and pushback (also why they liked Yuki). Tengen's first merger is probably what made their relationship turn for the worse. She didn't want to indulge Kenjaku's little experiments and fascination with her body and then they just became more and more fixated on their respective positions regarding what Tengen's future should look like. Tengen shutting herself off and becoming more concerned with running jujutsu society didn't help. Kenjaku wanted her attention, didn't get it and nothing could really engage them to the same degree.
Really telling that Kenjaku is thinking about how it has been centuries since they had so much fun that their heart danced and that they are glad they created the Culling Game because of moments like their fight against Takaba. Takaba influences their thoughts, but I don't think it's to the degree of him literally putting words in their brain. It's more like he brings out hidden sides of them that would make them behave in his favour. Kenjaku also immediately smothers those feelings as soon as they become aware of them, which I think tracks with how they behave around Tengen and Yuuji aka dehumanizing them around certain people while other times acknowledging their bond to them. They are very used to pushing any kind of growing feeling of attachment down because it makes them vulnerable to others and if you want to follow a thousand year plan full of setbacks, you just can't have weaknesses like that.
I'm really curious where this will all lead to. I'd like Kenjaku's friendship issues to be brought up directly and compared with Takaba's own. Throw in a Tengen mention for extra drama. I think this will conclude with Takaba managing to make Kenjaku genuinely laugh (he already got close this chapter) without any mind manipulation involved, but I doubt it will be enough to make Kenjaku discard their merger plan entirely. So Takaba technically wins, but I don't see this being favourable for the protagonists overall besides buying them a bit of time. Takaba really likes Kenjaku and is very invested in them. They also helped him with his depression (he even says as much this chapter, albeit as a bit and as an excuse to turn Kenny into a nurse). First by turning his life around with the Culling Game and then by making him realize why he wanted to be a comedian in the first place and strife to do better. They even called him "partner" now, which clearly means a lot to him. I don't see that attachment leading to anything good in the long run. Kenjaku isn't the only one affected by this fight.

i said i could talk about it and i think i will
Hunter's possession in Thanks To Them is highkey.... ironic.
Tumblr media
The Owl House is most assuredly considered a criticism of religious extremism and of cultism. Belos is a cult leader, the only one who can talk to the god, who knows the will of the god, yada yada yada. This is all a sort of basic primal religious identity, and if you look through history, Kings and Emperors were often seen as literal gods or as the messengers of the gods, who were able to talk to the gods and commune with them.
Now, of course, the catch is that Belos is using his cult to straight up kill people. But the point remains that it is a cult, and it is a extreme and dangerous organization, whose primary focus is less on order, and structure for society(as primal religions were ordered) and on his end goal of destroying the witches and wild magic altogether. It's not about knowledge of self, for Belos, or identity for the wild society. It's about him achieving his selfish goals, and achieving a totalitarian control over the lives of his followers, especially Hunter. He brands them with his symbol, and then tortures them. He's a cult leader even down to his typology, with his manipulative words and smiles and professed care about people, all for his own evil ends.
The Owl House is ultimately less religion-critical, and more cult-critical. Think twice before you get a tattoo of a man's secret society on your hand. That's kind of the method of logic the show follows.
Moreover, it can be argued that the show is a condemnation of theocracy, of religion ruling all thought to a degree that drives the thinker further away from the Godly and more deeply into the dark. Nepotism, narcissism, and pride are all very key traits of Belos.
However, as a whole, the show seems critical of religion, in very loose terms, especially ones that try to control your life, or your being, or your expression of self, even through seemingly mundane rules.
This brings up something very interesting when it comes to Hunter's possession by Belos in Thanks To Them.
Possession has never, ever, ever been a good thing.
Not to any religion, as far as I'm aware. Especially not Abrahamic traditions. In Christianity, possession is considered the worst form of demonic affliction, and one that you need to do everything to avoid. That is not an end goal, that is not a good. That is something to be avoided at all costs.
Something other than you having complete control over your will, your being, is the exact opposite of what Judeo-Christian(Can't speak for Islam, I'm not super certain on their beliefs) Religions want you to achieve. True freedom is the goal of Judeo-Christian practices, and the ability to be wholly and completely yourself with God. Literally. That's the goal. They want you to become the perfection God intended for you from the beginning.
Possession is. Not it.
Even the word calls up thoughts of demons, of satanism, and of spiritual danger.
And therein lies the irony.
Belos possessed Hunter.
A religious/cult leader, with power that has slowly dwindled, took over someone else to do his bidding. That's literally what demons do.
(Of course, don't worry, demons aren't going to mess with you, dear reader. Christianity states that most often, just a little temptation is all it takes for us to sin, so why would they bother us with the big guns? Also. Like. In Christianity, to be possessed, you have to consent to the demons taking over you. So! Let that be a lesson to you! The world has a spiritual nature too, and what you invite will accept your invitations!)
Anyways.
It's ironic that the man considered to be a theocratic despot, a cult leader, a manipulator that stands for everything that should be avoided, was possessed, and then in turn possessed another.
It implies that religion is simply the tool being used by a greater evil. The idea of The Emperor's Coven as a cult is a tool used in a larger, more sinister design.
Because, if possession is inherently demonic, as it always is and always will be, then The Owl House has never really been about theocracy, or religion, or even cults.
It's about how darker forces can use those things to gain power and control.
It's about how darkness can twist even things like religion, which is a good, and is extremely important.
It reminds me of what one of my professors was talking about the other day, a Latin Phrase. Corruptio optimi pessima est. The corruption of the highest is the worst. Essentially, the Latin version of "The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall". It relates to how good is corrupted by distorting it, and how the worst things are all corruptions of what good is meant to be.
So, really.
Hunter getting possessed changes the entire focal point of the series.
Because it's no longer a single man possessed and ruined, destroying as many as he can out of narcissistic power-hungry desperation.
It's that same man taking over others in order to get control, and gain what he wants.
Belos is, for all events and purposes, a demon. His behavior is demonic, and his attacks are demonic.
And so, it's ironic.
It's ironic that a character seen as a religious leader is possessing the creature he made by playing god. It's ironic that possession is involved in this work at all. It's ironic that sacrifice had to be used to free Hunter. It's ironic. It is irony on top of irony on top of irony.
It's ironic that a series so widely considered to be critical of organized religion and cults is really just saying the age old tune.
Corruptio optimi pessima est.

Satan being written as calm during his appearances has always been a wonderful choice for me. It's definitely deliberate, and I can't wait to see what makes him really show his rage (something related to the woman in ice would be my guess.)
He is the Lord of Wrath, so one would think he'd show his anger... but no! He seems not only composed, but pretty chill as well. His dominion is wrath, so no wonder he can control it? Or hide it? No clue, but at the same time, it's definitely kind of ominous.
I have more to say, but it's definitely a type of crack insanity and probably just me being demented, so I'll put it under the cut instead.
Ok. Sorry in advance. Satan is my favorite character entirely due to his moe gap of being just a guy that gets hanged up on by his own minions and also being The Fucking Adversary. It's cute. To me!
And I apologize for the nonsensical word vomit. It's borderline unreadable and unorganized, but I had to put it somewhere!!!!
So this is basically what I put on my twitter a while back but:
In chapter 51, when he appears to embrace the priest out of thin air is, like, so Whew, because, to me, it appears that he is cradling him like a parent would do to his child. I'm aware this is an insane take btw, that's why I'm putting it under the cut... but Lol...
My crackhead theory is that Satan actually sees himself in Mr. Priest -- as a younger version of him, about to go through what he himself went through: falling for love. I don't think this is too crazy, considering that all Demon Lords so far do say/think Priest-kun is the same as them in their "sin". E.g. Mammon saying the boy is violent like he is; Asmodeus saying that he, too, lusts, etc etc) Leviathan does kind of the same, except the priest actually reciprocates. After all, the priest explicitly sees himself in Leviathan too, both being extremely strong, so... there's that.
Anyway, because of this, I think (read as: hope) Satan cares for him, in his own... satanic... way? As I said, he (maybe) thinks him to be a younger version of himself, and consequently cares for him to a certain degree and cradles him gently like a child.
(Maybe relevant, but Asmodeus, in seeing Sarah in him, cared for him in a twisted, fucked up way, which is different to what I think of Satan, who instead sees himself in Mr. Priest rather than someone else)
Ultimately, I know it won't be this way, but it's something I like thinking about, so I'm putting it here too. I just think it'd be interesting that, despite Mr. Priest's ultimate goal being exorcizing Satan, he happens to treat him gently.

The Game hits differently as an adult than when it did when I was a kid.
Back when I was a kid, mobile games were still in their infancy. Like yeah, there was Snake and Bounce, but that was pretty much it. A mobile phone had the games it came preloaded with and while you could get new ones online, most people didn't. And while there was still that phenomenon of annoying little kids going up to random adults and asking if they had games on their phone, I feel like it wasn't as common.
For the most part, mobile gaming hadn't really gotten to the point where it was psychologically addicting the same way it is now. That kind of thing only really started up when I was in high school. Even then, I tended to write off the "oh, my mum's addicted to Candy Crush" stuff as just a meme-y thing rather than an actual phenomenon. It's really only been in the eleven-ish years since I finished high school, and mostly in the last five or six years, that I've really been aware of people getting super addicted to mobile games as a thing. (This isn't to say it wasn't happening at all before then; just to say I wasn't as aware of it before then. Keep in mind that I live under a rock.)
The other thing here is that back when I was a kid and watching The Game for the first time, it wasn't really as acceptable for people to just sit there on their mobile for hours on end. For a long time, the mobile phone was seen as a thing you had for emergencies only, and even then a lot of people wouldn't bother to take it with them when they left the house.
This did eventually change around 2009 or 2010, when even less well off people could get a mobile phone that wasn't just a Nokia brick that was really only good for texting and calling people. Once that happened, people started using them more. But before that? Nah, not really. The Boomer cartoons from the mid-2000s about Millennial teenagers always being buried in their phones were either making mountains out of molehills or based around the one kid they knew who was a bit more of a social butterfly.
So the first few times I saw The Game, I wrote it off as just being a product of its time. When I thought of video games at the time, I was mostly thinking of console games, not of Snake. I dismissed the idea that someone would get addicted to a video game as being something that didn't really happen that much outside of a few edge cases here and there where maybe a guy died at his keyboard after playing World of Warcraft for a week straight, and even then I thought it was mostly because they had no life outside of it.
Nowadays though, I think it was weirdly prophetic, and I'm not entirely sure the writers on that episode fully realised that at the time. People really are getting addicted to mobile games (and, to some degree, MMOs) much more than they used to, and that's largely by design. Those games really are designed to be addictive.
So while in 2007, I wrote The Game off as being a wonky fantasy written by a generation who were maybe a little bit out of touch, now I realise they were probably on to something. The idea that someone might design a game to be extremely addictive and try to weaponise it somehow doesn't seem as farfetched now as I thought it was back then.
More to the point, there really are people out there who'll do remarkably stupid things because of an online game. It doesn't have to be some propaganda campaign or anything like that; they'll just be mad that a certain part of the game isn't realistic enough. War Thunder in particular has a bit of a reputation for this--there's been multiple military personnel from multiple countries who've leaked design specifications for their country's tanks online because of the game. I wouldn't be too surprised if most spy agencies have people keeping an eye on message boards related to it just because of that.
I don't know if I necessarily think The Game is a good episode. Of the Wesley Crusher episodes made after he goes to the Academy, this is the only one that really falls into that "Wesley the wonder boy" trap a lot of season one episodes had where he'd be pivotal to saving the day. It's still a more interesting take on that concept because it's ultimately Data who does it rather than him, but that honestly could have been incidental more than anything.
What I do think, however, is that it's an interesting episode. It's the kind of episode that's definitely made me think as I've gotten older. My opinion of it now is that while it's not really the best episode, it is good science fiction because it was remarkably on point about the general direction society was going to go down and it inspires thought.

Re: Alfred, does he think of HIMSELF as family/parent? I find it interesting because it reminds me of nanny dynamics where the employers/rich family THINK they have a super intimate and “like family” relationship, but really they ignore/downplay the fact that it’s a job for the employee. Which isn’t to say that it isn’t inherently intimate to do that type of caregiving, but I wonder for Alfred if he always has to remind Bruce/Dick/himself that he’s collecting a paycheck at the end of the month.
It depends on the writer. Like he definitely HAS expressed - explicitly - that he sees himself as Dick's other parent, even to the point of making Dick the recipient of his own will, but I hesitate to play into that one too much as pretty much the only one to go to that level of explicitness was Taylor, A Known Panderer, and like. The sincerity/genuineness wasn't there for me. On the writing's part, not Alfred's.
But for the most part I DO fall on the side of Alfred does seem himself as family more than employee - I think there is a degree of, hmm, not wish fulfillment per se but willfullness perhaps, in writers writing the most famous employee in comics as part of the billionaire family rather than examine the optics of the very different positions Alfred operates from versus the members of the Wayne family. I think there are extenuating elements, such as the fact that Alfred was written from pretty early on as having been friends with Thomas Wayne to the extent that he was made the executor of Thomas' estate....so even as he raised Bruce, who was Thomas' actual heir, he had a great deal of control and influence over the Wayne resources rather than being subject to them as would be the case in most real world parallels....
So ultimately, I do think it would be disingenuous to look at what we have in the text in most cases and interpret it as Alfred having more distance from the family than the family has from him, and ultimately just perceiving his position as a job. What distance Alfred admittedly DOES put between himself and Bruce and his children has more to do with just his personality and his adherence to a certain degree of aloofness as a way of maintaining some control in the chaos of his life and the general....Waynes Being Waynes of it all.
His influence within the family is pretty much unmatched though, and you can see hallmarks of how he raised Bruce in how Bruce interacts with his own children, even as we can also see in a lot of instances how Alfred regrets elements of how he raised Bruce and so makes a point to be different with the kids. But I think both Bruce and Alfred have such complicated relationships with their honest emotions and each other that Alfred never figured out how to express to Bruce that he regretted how he raised him for fear it would come across as Alfred saying he regretted raising him, full stop.
Its interesting though - there have definitely been times when Bruce has leaned on Alfred's 'employee nature' to get him to back off when Bruce feels particularly threatened by points Alfred is making and the emotional influence they're both aware of him wielding over Bruce - which always made it a possibility that Bruce would cave on any of these points - so there have been various not awesome story beats where BRUCE is the one to express some idea that Alfred is just the help and should know his place.....but Alfred usually is written as only backing down there when he wants to. As in, there are times when all he has to do is raise an artfully British eyebrow to evoke to Bruce that he knows exactly what Bruce is doing there, and he is Not Impressed and simply will NOT be backing down, thanks ever so much.
But then there are other times when its like Alfred 'takes the hint' or whatever and does cede to Bruce's man of the house bullshit - BUT in almost all those cases, I would argue that its not because Alfred really fears repercussions of standing his ground with Bruce, its more that Bruce going this route enables Alfred to back down and not push things more than he wanted to begin with.....like I mentioned in that other post's tags, unfortunately we don't talk enough about how Alfred likes to pull the ripcord out of especially tenuous situations within the Wayne family dynamic. Because ultimately I think he's just not really comfortable picking a side other than the son he directly raised all on his own - the one who is pretty much solely a product of his own upbringing and his direct responsibility, whereas the kids are all majority raised by Bruce even if you see Alfred as a second parent to them - but at the same time, he's still keenly aware of when Bruce is in the wrong and not willing to back him on a lot of these moments either. So he takes the out, and in the process, enables Bruce in many of his worst moments even though ultimately I'd argue that's more about Alfred than it is about Bruce.

Lmao I just wanted to be sure you'd be open to me ranting in your inbox! ofc I'm willing to share 🥹
So, the first scenario that came to mind was the one described by @lovevamp, and it's something that you've already explored to a certain degree before (marvelously, needless to say, and you dedicated it to me!! 😭), although narratively it didn't necessarily focus on Daniel being in control/adopting a more dominant role in their relationship. I think it'd be interesting to revisit that scenario with that dynamic in mind, and go a little deeper into the whole... what it must've been for Armand to submit so willingly to Daniel. To go all pliant and supple and enjoy it. Because it's not just about giving Daniel what he wants, although that's always a priority, but it's also about Armand choosing to re-embrace his naturally submissive side after so long, and choosing Daniel to be the one to do it with. And Daniel not actually knowing why it's a big deal but at the same time being extremely aware of it and rising up to the occasion, struggling between loving to feel in control for once, genuinely enjoying the feeling of power and being extremely turned on by it and the thoughts of ravishing Armand and being rough and careless knowing he can't actually hurt him, and also him actually caring and being soft and sweet and gentle because he's Daniel and at the end of the day he's a very gentle man.
Second scenario is post-canon. Because their post-canon dynamic and what it must've been like for them to get back together in the way they did, with Daniel readily choosing to go back to Armand and doing so in a time of such chaos for all of their kind (which seems to be a pattern for them lol). I feel the whole court thing would be relevant here with Armand feeling left out, frustrated and homesick in France, and feeling like most of the vampires there 1. fear him, 2. treat him with contempt or pity or 3. are actual loved ones (Marius, Lestat) who simply can't take most of the shit he says seriously even when he's right, as much as they love him, which hurts him greatly. And that's when my man Daniel comes in. Strong, gentle, SANE Daniel who would choose Armand over anything and anyone, always, no matter what, and who's there to remind him of it every day. It's them against the world even if Daniel doesn't really care about the politics of it, he's the devil's minion till the very end. He'd caress his face, kiss his lips, brush his hair, let him cry and scream and rant (preferably while sitting on his lap), and then give him a good spanking and rough him up because he knows that's what Armand craves and needs and under those circumstances, Daniel's the one he trusts to do it to him.
That's basically it lmao this has been in my mind for some time so your post really resonated with me 🥹 I'm sure I'll go insane over whatever you end up writing as usual 🥹 xoxo DA
Ahhhh DA you're reading my mind 🥹
Because YEAH definitely on situation #1, because that's the core of it, right? Armand choosing to want this, the inherent vulnerability of it and the level of feeling safe that would be required to have it happen. And on both ends, right? Because if he very abruptly laid back and told Daniel to take charge I don't see either of them ending up in the right headspace.
Or like Armand getting all up in his grill and demanding to know why 'daddy' is a popular term for boyfriend in the 70s, and what that implies in the bedroom is just going to end in Daniel being a mess lmao
And maybe that's what would need to happen first, a total misfire that leaves them both uncertain of what just happened and what they wanted to get out of it. But they don't really communicate well at this point either. So it would take one of them (probably Daniel) to stew and unravel the whole situation, and initiate another try.
But ALSO situation #2, god, that's been on my mind for a while. Not post-canon like you've described (and described so fucking well might I add) but upon their immediate return to Night Island post-Akasha. What their first attempts at intimacy now that Daniel is a vampire might look like, how they'd fumble through some immortal on immortal action. And maybe Daniel isn't fully with it at the time, but feeling a little off kilter and high on his new life would allow him the guts to feel like he can do anything, up to and including pushing Armand around.
Which then leads to a replay of that moment via your scenario because I think about Armand in France a lot! How he's not in control there because it's not his home, he's not the one playing host, so there's nothing to distract him from the difficulty of being surrounded by current and former flames (and the occasional frenemy or unrequited love).
He would 1000% need dangled by the ankles and paddled until he stops overthinking and stressing himself out, and Daniel is the only one disconnected enough from court affairs to make that his whole job while they're there. No thoughts, head empty, just there for the vibes and to straighten his maker's head out when he gets too pressed to function.
So TY my head is so full of thoughts I gotta marinate now 🥹 Love you DA, you can always be counted on xxxx

hai 7ban-sama !! anon is back again :33 we now have dragon art of the trio made by aida , does that mean we’ll get any dragon content of the tbhk cast aswell ?? please give me any dragon ❤️🤍 head-canons !! :D
Hi there! Ooh ooh, I can only hope we'll see more characters dragon-ified, at the very least, I have my fingers crossed for a matching Tsukasa... whether he be a scribble, a header, any degree of polish. I'd be excited to know he is out there. Amane's and Nene's outfits/colors were already so extravagant in a way I couldn't have predicted, so... I'd love to see what's envisioned for Tsutsu~
As for headcanons... I haven't actually been so industrious myself. (Not to sound too self-pitying, but I've been pretty braindead the past week or two...) Buuut, my lovely twin @2n2n thought up some things and shared them with me recently, and I really just like her idea...❤ I've been granted permission to share.
"The set-up is one where Amane and Tsukasa are dragons, but not so ancient — much like in canon how the Mermaid doesn't regard Amane as a threat because he's some dinky mystery and 50 years is not a lot to a kaii; the boys could functionally be baby dragons but, humans can't clock them. Mischievous Amane likes to mess with humans… adjacent to the jewelery shoppe boys, Amane and Tsukasa engaged in getting people to make deals with them, yet making like hardly any earnest effort. Not remotely capable of all they seem to. Not like it matters… But I'd like to think communication with the dragons, any dragon, at all, IS SOOOO special and rare and, as in canon not everyone can even be heard, but Nene-chan a special girl… prays and makes offerings often. Amane is like goddddd pant pant rrr that hot girl!!!!!! but he has to be mad shes like often praying for guys… lol… Amane who is a dragon does not understand human romance or dating, his mind sees humans as pretty petty and more than anything desperate to procreate or something (that's what boyfriends are for…) (so many people BEG for child or to save some ugly child or bless their ugly child… all humans care about)… they are like rats or something, you know… he can explain this to Tsukasa uncharitably who is just like, I see… humans do love their big ceremonies for weddings… but they're so pretty ♥ it would be nice to see the girl like that! dressed up all nice…. ♥
... but it gives an impression that Yashiro wants to. be impregnated like sf badly it's obscene, she's so young what is wrong with this one. I wish I did not have to sit here and listen to it…. rrrr. But gklfjg;…
I guess it's not dissimilar to canon. Amane is like, 'well… why can't it 'be me', if she's going to be obsessed like this, and I'm an amazing dragon…. I can tell her I'll marry her, and she'll bare my child. A magical being of dragon and human origin.' <- he can't actually do this. This isn't an ability he has— WELL– he can, ,, bind himself to her (like in canon…) and that's kind of like a relationship, but he can't. put a baby in her, even if it's poss for a dragon let's say you need to be like 5000 years old and of a certain power and veneration and, he is NOT close. But it means there are FABLES and MYTHS and RUMORS of dragon conception… I will have Tsukasa gently sway her to reading about and understanding those myths, thinking about them in some way. Just to lend me credibility…. like blow open a book onto a page about this OK. knock some scroll off a wall while shes dusting. ok
But the. Core of my thought is just Amane appearing before Nene-chan, on a night she is tending a shrine (I want to imagine a shrine-maiden Nene-chan… just sweeps n stuff but yaknow. tThus why she's always heard & always making offerings & Amane is way too aware of her)… and idk, some mumbo jumbo about, her devotion to her duty, a reward in order… and, taking pity on her… have heard her wishes, her pleas, over the many years…
but it'd kind of be a. [silent confusion from Nene-chan] bc she fklsdj;fkdl doesn't want flkdjf; a kid, that's not kglf;gjk;l? but its like [thinks] but ? … if I had a dragon-blessed child…. wouldn't I become some kind of, royalty, surely…? Popular… wouldn't everyone beg to see me and make offerings to me…. wouldn't I then have suitors? I'll have been recognized as special and beautiful by a Godly being… she's Nene-chan so it quickly gets to her head. Amane is patient watching her think like, that's right girl think about it…. Tsukasa swirls into the room. I had like lkfj;ld thought of Amane snaking Tsukasa into things like, ah that is my counterpart, we are one…. you will be as ours. Makes this sound mystical. Tsukasa is like :y i get to marry Nene-chan too?? … yes…
Commence… having crazy sex with dragons. Relief for Amane, this will satisfy her… she won't be speaking other names into her palms anymore… she'll say thank you to me… AMANE-SAMA…!!
I like the result of their bond though meaning... AFTER… a ceremony… and. sex. Nene-chan does have dragon features, though only seen by others with some magic (like canon…)… and Amane+Tsukasa can now don human forms. But I want it to be only after lol… you have to commit to the dragons, in their real bodies.
Ah kind of dfkljkdlg;df moment for Nene-chan that the like smoke dissipates and the shadow of 2 boys manifests and these bug eyed creeps . omg!!!!!!!!! NOT WHTA YOU EXPECTED… (IMAGINED… HANDSOME…. BIG HUGE TALL STRONG…)…
The prolonged lie is just like. [picks teeth] oh you thought having a dragon was like having a human baby, no. it will take muuuuch longer than 9 months. it's gonna , take years . especially when you're so young, it'll like kill you if it happened any faster… trust me. just wait… be patient…. [and also, have sex with us more… it'll make it stronger or whatever….that was better than I ever imagined, uhghh… ]"
Er, I know it was an ask for my thoughts but sometimes my thoughts are just her thoughts., ,, like after she gives me her thoughts I go wow. [has them] [they're the same now]

Shepard AMA Round 5!
I had the day off and couldn't play anything so writing it is! I'm also likely going to go through the past ones again in the near...ish.... future, since development has been kicking for a good year or so and I've gotten some things ironed out. In the meantime, though!
(As always, almost anything discussing Adrian as a character carries major CWs for discussions of suicidal thoughts/self destructive/harmful tendencies)
And as always, question list from the fantastic @spookyvalentine ! Have fun lol
1. What is Shepard’s favorite store on the citadel?
Less a single store, and more of a shopping area - there's a little plaza in Bachjret Ward that functions as an open market, with vendors constantly changing out. It's a great place to get specialty items - particularly ingredients and flowers, there's a long tradition of hobbyist gardeners who've specialized in growing niche plants on space stations, but you'll find a lot of... for lack of better phrasing, garage-sale type setups too. Adrian's father usually took her there to pick out a treat or otherwise just enjoy the crowds, when the Shepards wound up at the Citadel when she was a kid; and even during the events of the series she would stop by there to find something special for the crew.
2. What is the public’s opinion/awareness of Shepard?
Varied - actually kind of a low opinion through most of ME1 - there was a lot of speculation that the hunt against Saren was a coverup for something else, and the human getting promoted to Spectre just seemed. Weird and not everyone trusted it lol. Adrian actually damn near tanked her reputation after Virmire; if Sovreign hadn't shown up when it did, she'd probably be cemented as 'that weirdo who tried to proposition Counciler Tevos in front of everyone'. ME2 era sees a solid split in human opinions, due to her 'humanity isn't more important to me than any other species' stance; but she's become quite popular among quarian and krogan crowds; generally she's regarded as a solid hero; which carries strongly into & beyond 3.
3. Armax arsenal arena: do they participate? How do they like it?
She'd probably give it a few goes, and actually pick it up a lot more post-war, once she's out of the Alliance. Those instincts aren't going anywhere, after all, and it actually becomes kind of a way to face down some of the like. Trauma lol.
4. Shepard wakes up in an alternate universe. What tips them off?
Define the alternate universe xD ... actually, since I am writing that 'Shep & Thane get to live' AU - waking up at all, and that everyone else is seeing Thane would do it. (Or, sticking her in my other favorite video game... that she is on a world where there's giant terrifying beasts but they just want to be friends is. Weird. But she can gel with becoming a pokemon trainer.)
5. What kind of relationship does Shepard have with Javik?

Weird - but it becomes fairly friendly, and she's actually kind of grateful to have him around, because she's been spending the last couple years with a degree of thought patterns and instincts that are alien beyond anyone's comprehension, and it's so... just. Isolating. He's a little abbrasive for her taste otherwise, but she's dealt with worse and would still choose to hang out with Javik over a few others lol.
6. The first thing a person notices about Shepard’s appearance:
In ME1 - the scars. She works to downplay them, but she could never bring herself to seek reconstructive surgery/otherwise actually like... cover them. Post-Lazarus though... it's her eyes, probably. Very expressive, and they're that sort of deep, still brown that's a little striking at first. (Or a lot striking, if you're asking a certain drell-)
7. How approachable are they?
Adrian radiates some weird invisible 'Please Tell Me I'm Useful' aura that drags people in, no matter how much she tries to put up a prickly stance, and unfortunately it takes until like 2189 until she feels comfortable saying 'no'. (And to her friends... she's not really 'approachable', because most of the time /she's/ coming to /them/ first xD)
8. What is the difference between me1 and me3 Shepard? Do they notice, or does someone have to point it out?
ME1 Adian is nervous but collected, and very good at keeping her internal issues on the inside, where they belong, because of course she can't be a burden; she's a good soldier who will follow orders and do whatever she can for others; and it's not until her death that her crewmates realize... huh, she's happy to listen to our problems, however deep they run, but her answers, when they asked about her? Kind of... shallow.
ME3 Adrian is. Uh. CW for suicidal tendencies in the canon section.
Good end: Openly frightened but there's a lightness to her that's never been there before, and she no longer speaks about the future like she's not going to be there; she's prioritizing her goals and what she feels needs to be done, regardless of damage to her, the Alliance, or the Council's reputations.
Canon: A determined, selfless hero who will see things through to the end, and if she somehow survives... it won't be for long because she is goddamn /done/ with existing.
9. Did/does Shepard have any alien biases?
She's got a soft spot for the krogan, quarians and geth; and has a lot of thoughts about the way first contact with the drell was handled, and this was /before/ meeting Thane.
10. How do they handle a teammate being badly injured during a mission?
Extremely well, all things considered - her intial training and official designation /did/ partially center around being a field medic, after all, so she kind of slips into that detached headspace of assessment and appropriate follow-up that keeps any anxiety at bay for a while; and usually by the time it hits, they afflicted teammate is at least stable enough that she can work through it well. (Garrus' being hit on Omega was probably the closest she got to totally cracking on the job, as it were.)
11. Who is in their inner circle?
Ashley, Wrex, EDI, Joker, Miranda and, of course, Thane, wind up the closest to her in the end. (She was also quite close to Kaiden and Mordin, before their deaths; and she's not necessarily on bad terms with any of the other crewmates - but with the likes of like, Tali, Jack, Grunt and Garrus? They're all more like... she had to be strong for them, there's more of a mentor-ish vibe there where she maintained a certain... veneer of having it together, and the others fall into good friend, great to hang out with, but not quite the same level of 'I am willing to let you see me hurt and crying' closeness).
12. What does Udina think of them?
He'd Rather Not, Thank You. (I.e: He had very high hopes but oh dear god, Shepard is. Such a mockery of his hopes for the first human Spectre, and his only solace is that she manages to piss off the Council about as much as she crosses him.)
13. What does Shepard think of Saren?
She's... honestly not sure. Annoyed with him at first, but after realizing he was indoctrinated for quite some time, and doing some research... in the end? She just feels sorry for him, and wishes there was something else that could have been done.
14. Is Shepard’s first death publicized? (Since in game seems both people know about it and the alliance covered it up)
To a degree - there were theories that she was in some deep-cover operation, but the Alliance did officially declare her MIA/PKIA about a year after the Collector attack, and there was a memorial service.
15. Did they have any relationships pre-me1? Still around?
Not really - Adrian's always been a little weird on the relationship front; there's a lot of sorting out of 'am I actually on the aromantic range or am I just terrified of being in love as a soldier because I've spent my entire life seeing how much hurt that tends to result in' (the answer is six of one, half a dozen of the other) that never gets done, so she mostly wound up with a few things that never got past a third date during her time in college; and it declined even further after Akuze. (And considering her partners were all Alliance, up til Thane... most of them aren't around any more, but there is another XO out there who is absolutely flabbergasted to see that tech nerd she slept with that one time suddenly all over the news...)
16. What additions did Cerberus give Shepard?
I play it as pretty mild, all things considered. Most of her organs are, to some extent, synthetic/artificially enhanced, a lot of reinforcements to her muscle and bones that have left her pretty durable. The biggest differences are that she got her left ear back, and to steal from some other HCs - the cybernetics mean her eyes kind of glow in the dark now - results in enhanced night vision, and delightful terror to unsuspecting crewmates!

17. Have they done any interviews? How did the first one go? And the most recent?
The first interview she ever did was actually when she was a kid, and attending a biotics camp that had just accepted its first wave of human students, which consisted of Adrian and exactly one other kid - most human biotics were headed to BAaT, but Adrian's parents leaned towards 'you know we'll go with the people who've had like. Centuries. To figure this out' mindset. It went pretty well, and definitely set a tone for her future lol, since she was spending a lot of time around aliens and had a pretty positive opinion of the whole thing.
Her most recent interview would probably be just after the Reaper War, and consists of 'I Am Retired Please Leave Me The Fuck Alone.'
18. What do they think of the alliance?
It's been her entire life. Every home, most of her friends, her schooling, her career... all of it was steeped in the Alliance. It wasn't perfect - and there was a lot she wanted to change, but if she was a good enough soldier? Maybe she could make some changes, one day? By the time she realized no, no one soldier (however good) could make a real change to the entire system... well, Sunk Cost Fallacy is a bitch, she genuinely wasn't sure how she could function outside of Alliance structure. Post-Akuze left her extremely disillusioned - that no, they really did value image over integrity. She should have faced some punishment for her actions... and instead, she gets lauded as a hero and a survivor, an example of what humanity can endure, and she would basically lose her entire life if she ever spoke up otherwise... and like a good Alliance soldier, she was too scared of that unknown, so she played along and kept up the good looks.
19. What are they like, when in a bad mood? How obvious is it?
She gets a little more terse and withdrawn, and her usual way of dealing with it is... pretty much dissociation, honestly. She can't snap because it'll be Bad For Image, or because the situation doesn't actually /warrant/ anger, or getting angry won't do anything to help... so. Yeah. Adrian gets angry and swallows it down and just kind of goes blank until her nerves are calmer. Completely healthy coping mechanisms.
20. Does Shepard’s armor hold any significance to them? What about a weapon?
Eh... armor, not really; she often swapped it out. Weapons were also generally regarded as tools, kept well-maintained but without much attachment... until she got the Widow xD She fucking /loved/ that thing - it's big, it's sturdy, it can punch through damn near anything, it's beautiful.
21. What was Shepard like before the alliance?
There was no pre-Alliance Shepard, really... but before active service, she was sligtly less anxiety-riddled and a little more hopeful? Not by /much/ though, tbh, she's just always been kind of tinged with sadness and fear.
22. What was the post-lazarus reunion between shepard and joker like?
     Damp.
There were a lot of tears - mostly on Adrian's part, because she had died only half-sure she actually got Joker out, so seeing he was alive... that was. A lot to process. Joker, meanwhile - like he knew this was coming, but hearing 'hey yeah we've got Shepard's frozen scorched corpse and we're gonna bring her back' and seeing her there were worlds apart.
23. Ever had a broken heart?
Losing Kaiden counts in some respect - even if she wasn't sure if she did want to pursue something, there was /something/ blossoming there... and then, there wasn't. (She also very much suffers one in canon!ME3, losing Thane definitely breaks her in a way that never mends. And in my tweaked canon/They Live version... she gets a very intense familial heartbreak (: )
24. Are they funny?
Moderately, and it works best when she's not trying to be funny.
25. Have they made pursuits into further education? Any degrees?
Went to military college and got a degree in computer science (main focus was decryption and disruption), also took a few medical courses to supplement her combat medic goals. Post-wartime, she pursues education in literature and marine biology.
26. Does Shepard have a Twitter account
Adrian has a few social media accounts, and nearly all of them are just there to grab it before someone can try to fake them, there's very little activity beyond Official Needs. (She is (anonymously) active on... for lack of better phrasing, space Tumblr, though. No text posts though, she is strictly there to post & share photography).
27. The last time they were rude to someone:
Honestly, Adrian stays pretty polite? The only people she's really told to fuck off, in as many words, were The Illusive Man and Udina lol.
28. Does Shepard have any family?
A fair bit! Both her mother and father are alive up through & beyond the events of ME3 - Hannah remains in the Alliance throughout, while her father leaves the Alliance in the years between Adrian's first death and resurrection, instead operating at low income clinics on the Citadel (and a volunteer medic during the Battle of London). Hannah's side also sees an aunt, two uncles, and grandparents; while Adrian Sr. was a foster kid who bounced between homes most of his life, and wasn't formally adopted - but he keeps in contact with the women who cared for him in those last couple years before he signed on with the Alliance, and Adrian did meet them a couple times. That said, most of Adrian's life was spent beyond the Charon relay, and she never actually visited Earth in person until she was a teenager; her relationship with her extended family was pretty distant and limited.
29. Does the alliance use their image for propaganda/recruitment? Did they agree to/want it?
For a while, after her death - Adrian expressly denied permission while she was alive, but Hannah okayed digital reconstructions after Adrian's death - and oh god yeah the Alliance regretted the /shit/ out of it. 1: They were creepy as hell. 2: The public backlash was /intense/ - not just from civilians either; Ashley and Joker both sent in some very strong letters.
30. A moment that almost made Shepard quit:
As bad as a lot of them were? None of them actually made her want to quit, really. After all, what else would she have, without the Alliance?
31. Ask Dr. Chakwas: what kind of patient is Shepard?
A... consistent patient. Frequently in, because she's always doing something she shouldn't, but she's very tractable. Sits still, doesn't flinch or jump, gets a gold star and lollipop every time sort.
32. Is Shepard the type to give speeches?
A little - she doesn't exactly /mean/ to, but also she has consumed far too much poetry so it leaks into her pep talks xD
33. What does the council think of their first human spectre?
They'd Rather Not, Thank You. (Okay, actually, they're pretty impressed by the end of things, and they did at least appreciate that she took the charge of protecting the galaxy to heart - even among prior spectres, there was often a bias towards their own species, but Adrian really did exemplify that notion of protecting /everyone/ equally.)
34. What was Jack’s first impression of shepard? And now?
"Oh dear god this fucking prissy bitch is going to be the death of me I am not falling into any uniform or behaviour requirements' lol. Definitely softens, especially since Adrian does really listen to her and doesn't like... try to /fix/ shit, she just listens and /will/ help but doesn't force it. (She also does kinda appreciate the fact that, Adrian is a nerd... but she's a nerd who knows and appreciates poetry so maybe that's something she can share with someone else?) In the end? Considers Adrian a very annoying but beloved older sibling.
35. How was that mako joyride from ilos to the citadel?
White-knuckled terror for Adrian and Garrus. Best goddamn day of Tali's life cause she was at the wheel for it.
36. What was going through Shepard’s head, when they met Sovereign on Virmire?
A Lot. A weird relief, because shit started falling into place. Existential terror of Lovecraftian proportions. And an undeniable flicker of curiosity and awe, because holy shit /sapient robot cuttlefish-/
37. What is their favorite way to eat potatoes
Mashed with a lot of butter, garlic, salt and pepper; though she won't say no to a good jacket potato.
38. Lucky, or unlucky?
It's all in how you look at things - many would say Adrian's lucky to have survived so much, after all. Adrian would... Respectfully Disagree and leave it at that. (She does count herself lucky for her friends, though.)
39. What would Shepard say their flaws are?
That she is, at heart, a coward. She abandoned her squad on Akuze, and then was too afraid to speak out when the Alliance fudged things to save face; too afraid to leave the Alliance even once she started to hate it. She's bad at enforcing boundaries, and fears rejection enough that she'd rather make herself horribly uncomfortable than just say 'no' and have to deal with someone's disapproval.
40. What’s their pain tolerance like?
Horrifyingly high, and this was pre-Lazarus. See 'will endure physical discomfort over rejection' above; Adrian just... kind of accidentally internalized a 'suck it up and deal' approach; to the point she tends to miss some mild injuries, and managed to stay conscious and moving despite thresher maw acid getting into her hardsuit and eating at her. Only increases post-Lazarus, she winds up... /mostly/ accidentally hurting herself a few times during the worst of it.
41. Shepard’s been turned into an animal! What are they?
If she had a choice in the matter - Greenland shark or giant isopod. Going by general vibes though... Ross Seal. Look at em.
youtube
Shep go -laser sounds-
42. Does Shepard imagine what retirement will be like?
In true canon? No. Adrian never does quite reconcile a life outside the Alliance, and fully expects - and after a while, /hopes/ - she'll just die relatively young in battle and not have to face the horrible gaping void that is the future.
Tweaked canon? Not until most of the way through ME2 - the above still stands, but in the tweaked canon... she started spending time with Thane simply because he was also Doomed By The Narrative, and in this situation, had just... not pursued treatment for his condition, so there was a very grim but kind of pleasant mutual understanding of Things. But he's also on a ship with like some of the best medics in the galaxy and a lady who knows how to fix up organs, and saving Kolyat spurs him to see if anything can be done, or if it is too late. And /that/ leads to... not quite a fight, but a Strong Discussion that finally truly cracks through Adrian's whole... wall of Hell that everyone else has already started to wear down, that she finally allows herself to think, well, what if there /is/ a future for her?
It's pants-shittingly terrifying and she hates it, because now everything is /so much scarrier and more fragile/, not to mention she still has no idea what it could actually /involve/, and even up through ME3's events, all she can really think of for if she survives (and gods help her, for the first time in her life, she's hoping she will)?
She'd like a home of some sort, with Thane. She'd like to learn how to cook. Anything else is still... too much. Too scary. But a home on solid ground and a new, useful skill. She can imagine those.
43. What would they rather: wake up four years into the past, or four years into the future? Why?
Tough call - assuming like, end of ME3? Adrian's... really not sure. She's done the timeskip into the future thing, and things did ultimately work out... and she's a little afraid, if she woke up in the past as she is 'now'? She might not be able to pull everything off a second time. So, future it is.
44. Does collateral damage matter to Shepard?
To an extent - she doesn't like causing more damage than is necessary, but also if it's inanimate object vs someone getting hurt, welp, sucks to be an object.
45. Do they vote?
    Oh absolutely.
46. Favorite bar/club in the galaxy and why:
Afterlife. The irony of having to go there immediately after coming back from being dead was kind of great, and the music is exactly her sort of jam - seriously, when she's scanning planets or building a ship she just has it on a loop. Idk she just vibes with it.
47. Do they let others take care of them?
Tumblr media
Yeah she takes 'physician, heal thyself' a little too seriously and for... pretty much her entire life past 18, the only thing resembling care she'd really accept from others without (much) protest or immediately trying to do something in return was food, and that's because she could never get the hang of cooking even instant noodles.
48. How does Shepard feel about paperwork?
Necessary, often annoying, but also it gets her out of her brain so that's why she's buried in it through ME2.
49. What do they wear to sleep?
Varies a little by temperature, but I imagine biotics tend to run hot so she's usually just in boxers. Maybe a tank top if it's chilly.
50. What was the last thing (non-email) shepard read? Book, play, poem, essay etc
She's usually jumping between a couple books at one time! Through ME1 she's working through a collection of poetry from multiple species, the Cthulu mythos, and some middle-grade Spectre adventure books Joker sent her as a congratulations present (she actually rather enjoys them). ME2 is a lot of news, Revelation & Ascenion, and she dives /deep/ into hanar and drell poetry for. Reasons. Lockdown sees her pick up a subscription to a sci-fi/fantasy anthology and a couple knitting how-tos; and ME3 time leaves... very little time for reading. Most of what she goes through is the same prayer book Thane has.
(She also has a couple books on gardening and cooking. Just in case.)
(+1 would you bang your shepard? Lol jk we all know the answer to that. Share your favorite fact about them!)
In the Good End AU, Adrian and Thane wind up settling on, of all places, Akuze. It's a pleasant climate for him, and despite the memories... Adrian does find it lovely. And more importantly... it's like Omega but. Less. No one wants to lay serious claim to it because, Death Worms, so it's become prime real estate for dangerous sorts who are extremely tired and want to be left the fuck alone to exist in relative peace, they're too damn old and creaky for power plays any more.
The existing community is headed by an ancient krogan whose clan used to revere and work with thresher maws, she took her granddaughter there to pass on the old ways, and she's the one who has ultimate approval over who's in and who can try setting up somewhere else. Roz is a grouchy old bitch who doesn't keep up with the news, and even if she did, one human-drell couple looks the same as another as far as she's concerned, so what's it matter that she's just helped one settle up nearby? Get the fuck outta her town and leave her people alone or she'll get the shotgun.

Over the Steam Character personalities: The Font Family.
Sky/Papyrus: Sky is a loud and proud skeleton, always brimming with positivity and optimism. Despite being somewhat Childish and innocent, Sky can recognise other people’s feelings and situations, often offering help even if they were strangers. He can, at times, be quite full of himself, his ego and confidence causing him to act out and present himself as some kind of larger-than-life figure, going out of his way to do tasks that he either can’t or doesn’t have experience in. But he isn’t a fool, as he’s quite smart with certain subjects such as puzzles and writing. Once he’s learnt something which he enjoys, it sticks like glue.
Unlike most other Papyruses, Sky has reached a degree of popularity due to his writing and puzzle work, which has caused his need for validation and love to be less intense, though it is still an apparent trait of his. Sky is extremely proud of his own efforts, often bragging about his hard work and training to anyone who would listen. However, he does still wish to aim higher, wishing to join the Royal Air Force to be a beacon of adoration and love. However, this isn’t a completely selfish desire as he believes joining the Royal Air Force will allow him to help more people with the popularity it will bring.
Sky has large amounts of faith in himself and other people, Having the “Everyone can be a good person if they try” mentality, though he aims higher than that, believing Everyone can be a great person if they try, and then an ever greater person If they try to improve. He supports everyone he meets, strangers and friends! He’s so steadfast in this belief, he’s willing to put his life on the line. Around his brother in private, Sky tends to be more calm and less boastful.
Copper/Sans: This Sans is similar to his classic canon part in many ways, while still differing. Sans is a lazy, relaxed guy who always seems to have a smile on his face, and not just in the physical sense. He presents himself as an approachable guy, who never seems to get angry and always knows the right thing to say. He loves messing with people, friends or strangers, with harmless pranks and tricks with often child-like ideas, though he never goes too far and always respects the other person’s boundaries.
Copper enjoys hanging out with people and making them laugh, often making either puns or jokes, much to the enjoyment of most people. Though not everything is sunshine and rainbows for the Skeleton. He’s not as apathetic as his canon counterpart due to timelines never being a problem, though he still does have some mindset problems. He has trouble finding passion in life, as he often sees into different universes, wondering if anyone’s actions have true meaning when eventually both humans and monsters will be nothing but dust and every action already has and hasn’t happened.. He keeps these thoughts to himself, being an expert at hiding his own feelings. Even with his depressive thoughts, he still cares about the people around him and supports them. With his the one he supports is his brother, who in return tries to help Sans through his depressive attitude, being one of the few who’s aware.
W.D Gaster: Gaster was once a silent but kind man, someone who used their actions to present themselves instead of words. Having an incredibly creative mind, Gaster wanted to be able to help his fellow monsters while delving deeper into the secrets of the world itself. He had an analytical mindset tempered by his empathy, which allowed him to have a balanced outlook on life. He was cold, but caring. Quiet, but expressive. Confident yet careful. He had an intense curiosity, an almost crippling deserve to unravel reality itself, to crack space in half and peer into the darkness. But, he had always been brought back by his care for his fellow monsters and his friends. He has a strained relationship with his Father
This was before he fell into the core. After Gaster’s accident, His body wasn’t the only thing that had been damaged, his soul too. Clogged up with magical power, It was like Gaster was stuck in a void, a dark, unending reality. It felt as if he could see through the cracks in reality, to watch as worlds rose and fell. He could hear himself, the infinite number of himself that existed in every when and where. A Proud Father, a monstrous doctor, A man who never existed, a kind mother, The unchecked code in reality, the ever-constant non-constant, a whirlwind of nothingness yet everything. It drove the doctor to insanity, and then back to sanity, and then insanity, and once more to sanity, then to insanity, then to a state which was neither yet both. Perhaps he was nothing at all, though he knew that was wrong, for he was everything. Soon the echos of the void became acceptable, became him. He slowly was able to focus. There was no way to judge how he felt because he felt everything yet nothing. A walking contradiction, an error in reality. Perhaps the only thing that remained was his curiosity, which led him to dive deeper into understanding himself.
The third point of Gaster’s personality is after he removed a portion of his soul. He had lost the ability to hear into the void, but its echo forever left a scar on him. This Gaster was much colder and put together than his previous self. Neither inherently kind nor cruel, Gaster swung on the edge of insanity at every moment. One moment the deathly silence of the infinite end to all bombarded his thoughts, the next a possessive need to work. He tried to act normal, to treat others as once before. But that was a certain meaningless to it, a feeling that it didn’t matter, for in the infinite cosmos every action they took was nothing. But if one thing was constant with W.D. Gaster, it was his curiosity. An addiction that was perhaps his one constant.
This curiosity was what allowed Gaster to continue on in the world, to keep himself anchored. His social skills had deteriorated, and he became a mockery of his former self, A stranger in his own bone. He could barely hold a conversation about anything other than facts and theories, his own knowledge. He began to detest talking to others, avoiding conversation to be by himself and his constantly squirming thoughts. Perhaps his most strained relationship was with his “Sons”, the keys to his next experiments. He treated as kindly as a man in his state could, Like objects that needed to be protected. Until they reached a stable age for experimentation, He could not afford them breaking, So he was gentle with them, attending to their needs not out of love, but need. He was neither kind nor cruel, only curious and smart. His actions were planned and thought out, every emotional reaction precise and controlled. Almost like a machine.
Semi Serif/Grandpa Semi: The Grandfather of Sans and Papyrus, Grandpa Semi is the cool old man you’d want to hang out with. He’s kind, groovy and always trying to stay “Hip” with the kids. He’s a bit of a grouch in his old age, always complaining about new trends and weird technology which he doesn’t understand, but he’s never outright rude or angry. He cares about his grandsons very much but doesn’t treat them like babies anymore and encourages them to find their own path in life… Though he can’t help getting worried, so he gave them a job at his own company.
Speaking of work, Grandpa Semi takes his newspaper company very seriously, managing the funding and operations by himself. He believes that society can only function with unbiased truth and hard facts. He has a dislike for the monarchy conceptally and believes the people should hold the power. Even with that, he doesn’t mind the actual rulers as so far they’ve been fine. He loves to joke around, often making some kind of outlandish claim and then following it up with “Well, back in my day!”

While I wear the crown of Theistic Satanist, I am at my heart and soul a Pagan and Animist.
When I started in The Craft, I joined a Wiccan coven and worked through my 1st degree. Before that, I was always fascinated by theology, folklore, and mythology of North America, Ancient Rome and Egypt. I spent years reading and studying (non academic) about such things, so when I started my path I felt confident in my knowledge of the gods.
As a baby witch I had a difficult time "connecting" with a God and Goddess. No one seemed to call to me, or ones from cultures that didn't mix well did. Still, "Mom" and "Dad" eluded me. Then I found Baphomet.  Now I had heard the name before, and was aware of their usage as a symbol for Satan within Laveyan Satanism (Atheist). Thankfully, my High Priest at the time was a Freemason and assisted with questions I had.
As I've mentioned in prior posts, I read a book titled the Baphomet Codex. While I do not adhear to everything in that text, it assisted me with a foundation. Which is as follows.
Baphomet is all, and nothing. Baphomet is Source, Spirit, Universe, The Force.
The Divine Masculine is Sammeal.
When I met Him, it was not the Fallen Angel other Theists see Him as. He was Primordial, dark, unbridled. Very much the embodiment of a Dark Horned God (The Devil)
The Divine Feminine is Lilith.
The Dark Mother was just that, Primal, beautiful and Dark. I viewed(view) her as The Scared Mother. The snarling she wolf, the deep dark abyss, wreathing Primordial beast.
Their intensity hit me hard and fast, it was scary and traumatic. Certain aspects of my life started to fall away, and instead of trusting them I held on. Allowing the process of my awaking to them to slow down and almost stop. (More on that in a future post).
Being a Witch, I do enjoy ritual. Whilst studying and practicing Wiccan I simply referred to the quarters as their corresponding elements and titles of "Guardians of [insert direction]"
After reading the Baphomet Codex and other sources aligned with Demonolatry I found Watchers or Principalities of the quartets. They are as follows.
North:Earth-Hekate.
After meeting her in this capacity, I found her showing up in other aspects of my life and she has since become important to my practice outside of her principality.
South:Fire-Satan or Azazel
I first started with Satan or more importantly the creative trickster force of nature. I am someone who isnt to keen on separating Lucifer/Satan as different entities. So it became complicated for me. After some time, I started working with Azazel outside of this aspect. I soon found Him to fit nicely in the role of Southern Quarter. (His direction is south)
West:Water-Leviathan
Within the Baphomet codex, Taimat is the western principality. I attempted to utilize her as such, but did not feel a connection. I then incorporated Jorminder the great serpent from Norse pantheon, but soon found Leviathan to be more suitable. I am still in the process of building a relationship with Him. Being a heavy water sign, Sun Cancer, Moon Scorpio. I tend to get "lost" in the flow of Abyssly Ether when I work with Him.
East:Air-Lucifer
Oh where oh where to begin with dear Lucifer.
I did not "officially" meet Him in this aspect. Yes I felt his pull when I read the Baphomet Codex and saw Him placed in such a role. However I did not meet Him as such. That's another story for another time. I have found His standing as the Eastern Watcher to be beneficial, however He has come to play an even more important role in my life.
Working outward and away from the Quarters, I work with other Daemon, Sprites, Ancestors and guides.
I am not someone to only go to Daemon when I "need" something. I very much enjoy worshiping and Venerating them. There are certain ones I feel pulled to work with, recently it has been Raum, Stolis, Valac, and Paimon.
When it comes to Spirits, I often take an Animist/Shinto approach. I hold that there are spirits of the land, of a thing/place and a spirit that resides. I also hold that spirits of the dead are very much real, as are older spirits such as Fae, "cryptids" , hildafolk and those within other cultures I do not know their names.
When I speak of my ancestors it is not just those from ancient times. I have been attempting research into my family's history. Having both my grandparents and mother not within this plain of existence I often honor them when I can.
My guides tend to appear in animal form. Often times to teach me a "lesson" of some sort or reminders of my path. They are often animals associated with the God's I work with. Such as, snakes, owls, hawks, crows, goats, cats, and black dogs.
Another important guide is Lucifer. Though I hold Him in a higher standing, he often takes on this role.
Other God's I find important are those of the Crossroads, Underworld and Dark Feminine.
Note: What I have expressed is simply my own practice, no two practioners are the same. This is what works and calls to me. As my former High Priest would say, "eat the chicken spit out the bones". Take what you will from books and resources, only you know what works for you.

Re: Does Shouto have his scar/what happened to Rei in May Death Never Stop You
TL;DR - Shouto does not have his scar but Rei is still in the hospital. Okay and now for the long version -
So we don’t know the specifics of Rei’s mental disorders in canon, but judging from her actions I imagine there’s a whole laundry list of cluster a, b, and c disorders in there to certain degrees. For this fic I’m assuming her particular cocktail is bipolar disorder (mania and depression) with psychotic features (delusions, hallucinations), avoidant/dependent disorders, PPD and generalized anxiety.
Rei’s first born is a really weird fucking baby. He’s basically an alien. He doesn’t really cry or make much noise, and he has a terribly unnerving and unblinking stare. Sometimes it seems like he just sees right through her, judging her and finding her wanting and deciding to dismiss her from his perception of reality. Or at least that’s how she sees it - is it actually? No because Gojo’s awareness hasn’t even come in yet, but the whole ‘old soul in a new body’ is still making him a weird infant. Also the whole body/soul thing in JJK is very ??? which means its possible Gojo’s soul has always been in his body, and so has his cursed energy (even if his 6 eyes and his awareness didn’t fully manifest until he was about 4 or so), so even in utero he would have had cursed energy, and who knows how that would react in the body of a human without any cursed energy to speak of? In JJK even normal humans have trace amounts of cursed energy even if they can’t see curses, which would explain how sorcerers come from non-sorcerer families. But MHA has zero cursed energy, and the 6 eyes have evolved to see quirk energy. Idk what that would do to Rei, but nothing good, I imagine. I wouldn’t say her mental issues are entirely Gojo’s fault, since a lot of that is hereditary and environmental, but it certainly didn’t help.
In a normal person it would probably give mood swings, more depressive episodes, and other symptoms that we’ve seen in JJK for normal people who are unknowingly cursed - anxiety, sudden nervousness, bad dreams, that kind of stuff. But because Rei already had plenty of undiagnosed mental health disorders, it sort of compounded everything.
Rei is already under pressure just by the nature of her marriage, which I head-canon as her agreeing to by pure technicality of the legal definition of ‘consent’, but in reality was very much so caused by the pressure her parents, society and endeavor himself was exerting on her. Basically she made herself believe it was what she wanted because everyone else seemed to think it was the smart choice - marry a rich and handsome famous hero who has offered to take care of your family and you financially for the rest of your days, in a society that’s already misogynistic? I imagine her friends in school and just everyone in her everyday life even beyond her parents was putting pressure on her, maybe not intentionally, but exerting their opinions on her nonetheless.
This is a lot of stress and environmental pressure for everyone, but again Rei already had BPD and was more susceptible to these kinds of changes, and never got the help she needed to deal with any of it. In line with cultural values, it probably never occurred to her to voice her struggles aloud or seek help for them.
She’s alone, suffering under undiagnosed PPD, can’t bond with her baby in any capacity, feels like a failure, and it’s just a huge spiral that gets worse and worse until it eventually breaks.
I imagine she didn’t start having more violent/hysteric attributes to her psychotic features until this point in her life, and they would have scared her. I have to imagine this is canon, bc otherwise I don’t know how she ended up going from a mild woman to having a violent episode and scarring Shouto.
She’s also not taking any medication whatsoever, and has never been diagnosed or seen a doctor for her mental health issues. Untreated BPD is basically a recipe for disaster in this instance, but instead of harming her children like in canon, the coin flipped on the other side and she acted on her depressive side and not her manic one, and she makes an attempt on her own life instead. Frankly its unrealistic that she hadn’t injured anyone else in one of her manic episodes beforehand, like a maid or one of her own kids, but that’s where the avoidant distorder comes in, as she’s always been more of a recluse and more likely to hurt herself in a manic episode than someone else. But anyway this is enough to finally get psychiatric help involved.
Again, in canon she’s seen to be pretty cordoned off from life and has been in a psych ward for most of Shouto’s life - that wouldnt make sense unless she had pretty uncontrollable violent tendencies and exhibited an inability to deal with stressors in regular life, so I have to imagine her particular cocktail of disorders is extreme and was probably already there and got worse due to the environmental factors of her marriage.
To be specific I’ve slotted her psych ward admittance into the timeline to be right around the time that Gojo confronts Endeavor in the dojo. Honestly maybe even like a week or two before it. At that point in time Gojo is spending like 80% of his time away from his own house and honestly has no idea it even happened. In his POV in ch1 he mentions how odd it is that Rei isn’t in the house when he stops by because she’s always there, then he’s distracted when he notices Endeavor and Shouto.
