kinda heavy post oops
after hearing abt brianna ghey, I’m afraid I wont make it to adulthood. it makes me think about how many other kids like me will have to battle with the fact that they could and probably will be kidnapped, assaulted, murdered, turned away from jobs, hotels, etc, and just abused by the world around them. it makes me think about those who fight tirelessly to keep it that way.
being white+middle class, im in a position of privilege, but my status as afab, trans, autistic, queer, and jewish is going to put me in danger. I can only hope things will get better, but they always get worse before then anyways…

What’s your opinion on transgenders people? I ask as i have seen you reblog a few things and I am unsure on your stance. I mean this in no judgmental way i would just like to know your thoughts
anon this ask both excites me and fills me with caution, but! I will provide you with what you seek!
what do I think about transgender people? Here’s my answer to that, but be warned, it is lengthy!
1) they’re to be treated as people, not outcasts. Human is human, and we are supposed to treat fellow humans with love, care, and respect, even if we don’t agree with the people in question, or if it’s just plain hard.
2) I say this with gentleness: their perceptions of themselves are skewed*, and there are many reasons for this with the primary one being that we live in a broken world, which leads to everything else. But one of the absolute worst things we can do to trans people/ people who want to be trans, regardless of the reason, is to go along with the idea that they are or can be any other gender than the one they were born with. As you can probably tell, I believe in the God of the Bible, and that while human hands may have written the physical book, He speaks through the people that wrote it. So let’s let His Word do the talking.
You know the creation story, yeah? It’s ok if you don’t, let’s recap anyways:
Every day for 6 days, God made aspects of our universe, and when He declared everything finished – perfect! God’s work ain’t finished ‘till it’s perfect – He rested on the 7th day (Genesis 1 and 2). On the 6th day He made humans, male and female, and they were made in the image of God Himself (Gen. 2:26). They were also the only aspect of creation God formed with His own hands; Genesis 2:7 says God made the first man from the dust of the earth, and verses 21-22 says He took a piece of the man to make the first woman.
That might not seem huge to you, but it speaks volumes of the care God put into humanity specifically. Everything else – the sun, stars, sky, trees, dogs, almost everything you can think of – God simply spoke them into existence. But for humans; for you, anon? He got up, got His hands dirty, and shaped your head, your heart, your spirit, your body. He gave humanity a literal special touch that He gave to nothing else.
This is reinforced again by God speaking through king David’s Psalm 139, verses 13-16:
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body     and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!     Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,     as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born.     Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out     before a single day had passed.
God is omnipresent, meaning that He’s everywhere all the time any time, and nothing escapes His knowledge. This includes the creation of a new human being (again: male or female, no secret 3rd option for this one). And because God Himself – who makes no mistakes – oversees and ordains the creation of every new little boy or girl, wouldn’t it make sense that God would make them as He intended to make them: perfectly, without mistake? There is then no ground for the “born in the wrong body” argument to stand on, because God made your body with you in mind; your body was made specifically for you, and there were no errors on His end.
Now, what if you just straight up don’t like your body? I think everyone has disliked their body and/or felt uncomfortable in it at some point, that includes me. If someone’s going through puberty then they are almost guaranteed to be uncomfortable in their body because that kiddo and their body both are growing up. Sometimes you’re uncomfortable in your body simply because it’s changing, but this particular change is a good thing! Going through puberty is a sign that your body is working as it should, even if it feels weird. To try and block this transition from happening, or deliberately alter it, is to actively harm your body’s natural progression.
So yes, I do think that a trans person’s view of their body – that they were made for a different body and so they should change it – is not only wrong, but harmful to themselves in the long run. Why are we affirming this; giving people of all ages the means to scar themselves to feel good in the now?
Last bit before the TL;DR: if there’s anyone out there who thinks God won’t except them for any reason that you can think of, I’m gonna stop you right there. There is grace for you. Yes, even for that; please refer to my pinned post. And also this.
My explanation doesn’t cover all bases I’m sure, but the TL;DR is that the human body is a sacred thing designed by God, with care, made differently and specifically for every individual person, and it is medical malpractice (evil) to alter it within the context of transgenderism. If you have undergone the gender transition at any time – or have done anything else, ever – God still loves you with his whole heart, and He wants you to let Him help you with whatever may have dragged you down this time. Even if it was self-inflicted.
Lastly, some stuff I didn’t know how to cleanly fit into All That
*it is worth noting that basically everyone has a skewed perception of themselves about different things and to different degrees, but in this context I mean “a skewed perception of how a trans person relates to their body”
Creation was deemed “good” before people, but after people, God declared it “very good.” Again, in Genesis 1. I literally cannot stress enough how much God wants people to come to Him for whatever the reason

The next time you find yourself listening to Oh Little Town of Bethlehem this winter, remember that Bethlehem is on the Palestinian side of the border. When Israel inevitably starts bombing the West End, you're losing more than Muslim culture. You are losing...
Tumblr media
The site of Christ's birth.
Tumblr media
The oldest city in the world.
Tumblr media
The home of the best chicken shawarma I've ever tasted.
And so. Much. More.
It's easy to distance yourself from the war if you've never been there. But I have, and every day I ache for the people I met who might well be dead. The Egyptian man who offered me coffee on that hot, hot day. The little boy who stopped to chat about how wonderful life can be. The young Muslim woman who was the newest generation of mosaic craftsmen in a centuries old family business.
It's not just Palestine. And they're not just Palestinians.

But yeah between this news and this news, I'm having a really hard time coping.
It's just so much and I can't wrap my mind around it or focus at all.
Edit: oh good, more news confirming what we already knew, with other details
Edit 2: Honestly the thing that's getting me the most is the absolutely rampant, rancid victim-blaming, shaming, and denial happening to the Israeli victims and survivors. It's like somehow the entire feminist and anti-rape culture movements evaporated overnight the moment that there were Israeli victims and survivors in the news.
And it's just unbearably upsetting and triggering like wtf. What the fuck, y'all.
How did we get here?
How are there so few people who care about stopping rape culture for real?
How are leftists leaning into doing literally every single thing that right-wing misogynists do in response to survivor testimonials? How are they this vile after all?
Literally every time I think I've reached the bottom of the well that is western leftism, I discover that there's an entire new level under the false floor.
Seriously how did we get here??
And how can we get back?

I just saw some especially heinous radfem shit - like, openly eugenicist Nazi shit - and it scared the hell out of me. There are people out there I've never even met who want me dead.
It's one thing to be hated, but even that's better than being spoken of calmly and impersonally as a difficulty to be disposed of. It's something past hatred, I think, and it's chilling. Dehumanizing. There's a wretched, gnawing horror in that feeling that I don't know how to describe.
So I am reaching out. Every trans person out there, every queer person - I am putting my back to yours, all my brothers and sisters and siblings, so we can look out for each other. And I know it's a small symbol in the grand scheme of things, but I'm never going out without my flag pin ever again - so that you'll know who to reach for if you need an ally.
The world feels very scary and I will try to be brave, because I love you and I want us to live.

akane kurashiki from zero escape being schrödinger’s cat girl has scarily has been the only thing that even comes close to what my family situation has been like and that is wild.
when she was 9 her life changed forever in the most traumatizing event of her life- she almost died (the experiments). when i was 12 the same happened to me. (i got outed to my horrifically homophobic family. and then it happened to me again and again.) that day akane both died and survived (schrödinger’s cat girl). that day i survived but part of me died (he died in my childhood bedroom). she spent the next 9 years in a state of life or death completely reliant on how close she was to a certain future event taking place (junpei saving her across time and space). i spent the next 5 (well 4 going on 5) in a state of living and feeling dead completely reliant on how close i was to a certain future event taking llace (me coming out to my family and being cut out/cutting them out). she could literally access every timeline and possibility with her mind (morphogenetic field). i can psychologically access every timeline and possibility with my mind (paranoia and overthinking). her survival hinges on lying to at least one person she cares about and eventually recreating the traumatic event from her past (lying to junpei and the others, recreating the experiment). my survival hinges on lying to my whole family and eventually recreating the traumatic event from my past (if my family finds out im trans too quick im fucked until i come out to them and experience the same dread i did when i was 12 and 13 and 14). some days akane wakes up with a burning fever and feels her reality crumble (she’s dying). some days i wake up chillingly alive and aware (i’m dying).
its hard to explain but that’s the idea. she’s the perfect metaphor to my own suffering. the best way i can understand my own complicated messy feelings is understanding her. if i come out and lose everything and end up homeless and then dead, i lose and was dead from the fucking start. game over, coffin ending. if i come out and push through and manage to survive the bad years, i win and i was alive the whole time. it was worth it for a game won, safe to true ending. my future fate is a gamble all in the lives of those around me. and so was hers. so is hers. (thank god) nobody else i know is going through anything similar, so she is quite literally the only point of comparison i have. and i think that’s absolutely insane.

im sorry for my last ask, you didnt deserve to have that dumped on you
I’m not going to post the ask, because I don’t really think you want everyone to read it, but Anon, I’ll tell you straight:
I’ve had the exact same thought process before. It’s what stopped me.
Mine was more family members, but internet friends were a big part of it. And if you’re having thoughts like that? I’m holding your hand and looking you in the eye and telling you with all the love I can muster to talk to someone about it. Tell them you’re feeling that way.
Call a hotline if you have nobody else, but please, talking helps. It really helps. It’s scary, but I promise you’ll feel better if you do.

Lady green sleeves•Morgana's green dresses
Greensleeves was my heart of gold, your vows you've broken like my heart
The soft woolen green dress with wide sleeves lined with lilac silk was probably the most medieval-looking apparel of Morgana's wardrobe. The show's costume designers compared it with soft chainmail. And the dress played a quite significant role during the development of Morgana's arc in the early seasons. Morgana wears it in the episodes and moments that may be called fateful and crucial for the plot and her fate. Later, green and black will stay her significant colours for years. Green is the colour of magic, nature, life but sometimes is associated with jealousy and cunning.
Season One
Tumblr media
The first appearance of this significant dress happened in The Gates of Avalon, ep7. In this episode, we see the Sidhefolk and their magic, Arthur gets sinking in the Avalon waters foreshadowing his future in the Diamond of the Day, and Morgana says that cool phrase, "And killing things mends a broken heart?" foreshadowing her own future as well.
Tumblr media
The second appearance is The beginning of the end, ep8. One of the most fateful episodes of the whole show. Morgana, Merlin and Arthur meet Mordred, the end of their world. Morgana heals him, she tries to help him, she confronts Uther and he strangles her. Kilgharrah warns Merlin that Mordred is going to kill Arthur, Merlin has to choose.
Tumblr media
Next time we see the green dress in to Kill the king, ep 12. This episode is also crucial. It seals Morgana and Uther's enmity, it's the first time Morgana is willing to kill for her cause, Merlin looses the chance to be free. Also, the way Morgana shows her wounds from the shackles kind of foreshadows her future imprisonment in the well. (This is the first time the dress is worn with the golden girdle)
Tumblr media
The last time in this season the green dress can (barely) be seen in Le Morte d'Arthur, ep13. In this episode, Arthur is shown the omen of the Old Religion, he almost dies, Merlin bargains for his life for the first time and kills the High Priestess for the first time. Morgana is horribly tormented by the visions of Arthur's death. (Later, things will turn upside down and she'll become obsessed with his death for another reason). She is wearing the dress looking at Merlin riding off to the Isle of the Blessed to kill Nimueh and by this attract the next priestess, Morgause, in their life. Morgana's magic is getting stronger as well as her fear, depression and anxiety.
Season 2
In this season, the green dress becomes the "Lady Macbeth's beetlewing dress" as it's collar gets decorated with small green iridescent shells. The dress symbolises Morgana balancing on the the verge of moral ambiguousness. She is slowly turning into a dark, tragic, powerful (anti)heroine and wears the green dress pretty often. Unlike the first season, she is either in green or white for the most of the second one.
Tumblr media
Morgana wears the dress in The curse of Cornelius Sigan, ep1. Camelot is under magical attack, and we can see the glimpse of the classical Arthurian healer!Morgana when she treats Arthur's wounds. Her and Gaius' exchange in this ep sounds like foreshadowing:
"You shouldn't be doing this."
"It's exactly what I should be doing!"
"You need rest, Morgana."
"And I'm likely to get it with everything that's going on!"(/s)
Compare with "I will know no rest" in His father's son.
Tumblr media
The next time the green dress shows in The witchfinder, ep 4. Morgana knows that she has magic, and she is terrified to realise that she, a secret witch, can be burned at the stake just like Gaius and the others. She sees yet again how merciless Uther is to magickfolk, how he is ready to execute even his old friend just because he has magic.
Tumblr media
In Lancelot and Guinevere, ep 5, Morgana is in the dress when she begs Uther and Arthur to save Gwen from the bandits. She is losing faith in everyone and everything in Camelot, even in Arthur, when she thinks that no one cares but her.
Tumblr media
The witch's quickening, ep 11, is pivotal to Morgana's arc. She is drawn to the rebellion side. She decides to help other magical people to really fight Uther, she is ready to lie and steal in order to win and be free. She is told by Alvarr and Mordred that she is their only hope. Kilgharrah utters the prophecy about Morgana and Mordred's evil alliance and Merlin antagonises Mordred.
There is the full set: the dress, the snake necklace, the snake-ish girdle.
Tumblr media
The fires of Idirsholas, ep12, without words is the moment when the old Lady Morgana dies and Morgana the Sorceress is born, although it was not entirely her choice, though she is definitely on the magickfolk's side. Her consent to Morgause and especially to Merlin's causes is dubious or wasn't given at all. She is the vessel of the mighty spell in this episode, just like she will become the vessel of "the power of Heaven" in the future; Merlin poisons Morgana literally and metaphorically and she goes away to come back changed.
She wears the green dress during the entire ep, with the necklace and girdle. It's also the first time Morgana wears black eyeliner.
The "magical" green dress.
This dress of green silk and chiffon combined with the wide golden belt and bracelets first appears in The nightmare begins, ep 3, when Morgana returned from the Druids with the knowledge of her magic; and since then this dress appears in the moments where magic acts/mentioned or Morgana is plotting/lying.
Tumblr media
In this season, Morgana is in this dress when she realises that she has magic; when she received the magical bracelet from Morgause, in the Beauty and the Beast – a magical episode – and when she steals the keys from Arthur for Alvarr and Mordred. The only moment this dress is worn in a non magical/plotting episode is Lancelot and Guinevere, ep 5, when Morgana meets Gwen again. The reason why this dress was used this time is unclear, it can be the hint at the future: Morgana finds out about Gwen's secret love for Lancelot and will use it against her in Lancelot Du Lac; or because this ep was important for developing of Arthur/Gwen and evil!Morgana will oppose this relationship in the future.
Season 3
Now dark!Morgana wears purple, green and white colours most often in this season. These are her colours through the seasons (purple, green, white are also happen to be the colours of UK's suffragettes and Women's International Day)
The "fateful" green dress is worn by her only once, she prefers the "magical" variation of the significant green dress in this season.
Tumblr media
Tears of Uther Pendragon, ep 1 and 2, open the season where Morgana is "the enemy within", she has joined the dark side and is devoted to witchcraft. She wants the revolution and power and is no longer a friend for Camelot and her former family. She poisons a witness, she watches Uther's suffering from the mandrake root, she falsely comforts Arthur.
Tumblr media
The Goblin's gold, ep 3, is a magical episode, and Morgana wears the green dress when she is watching magical chaos disturbing Camelot. She is told that she has a cold heart and wants to see Uther dead and Camelot destroyed.
Tumblr media
The Changeling, ep 6, is again a magical episode. Morgana wears the green dress when she first notices Arthur and Gwen's affections and enjoys teasing Gwen about the impossibility of it.
Tumblr media
The castle of Fyrien, ep 7, is when evil!Morgana finally turns against Arthur personally, arranging a bait for him. She sees no other way for her mission than to take the throne for herself, so she needs to kill her younger brother for this.
Tumblr media
In The eye of the phoenix, ep8, Morgana is lying, plotting against Arthur and uses a cursed magical artifact against him.
Tumblr media
In The queen of hearts, ep 10, the "magical" green dress shows when Morgana sees Emrys, her future doom.
Tumblr media
Morgana wears the green dress in The coming of Arthur, eps 12 and 13 as well. Theses episodes are full of magic, twists and are very important, since Morgana and Morgause have finally won Camelot.
Tumblr media
The "fateful" green dress, in the full set with the snakes necklace and girdle shows for the last time in ep 12, when Morgana and Morgause's plans start unfolding and Morgana is soon to be queen. She lies to Uther and speaks about change and the new age.
This is the last time we see Morgana in full green. Later, when she is a priestess and the witch of the woods, the bright colour of the past will be covered by a veil of black lace.

Resisting the drive to Other
The hardest part of living in a world where people can be so cruel and heartless as to destroy one another is avoiding the traps that lead us into it.
Humans don't like to kill humans. A quick glance at the present and at history makes that seem like a false statement, but it is true. Mankind overwhelmingly dislikes the idea of killing mankind.
So how do we end up in so many wars and conflicts, how does genocide keeps happening? Why is there so much killing if we don't like killing?
Its because we Other. We look at our fellow man and we make them less in our minds. We view them as less than human in order to make their deaths acceptable.
Sometimes this is a defense mechanism. We look at atrocities committed by others and struggle to comprehend how people could choose to commit them. Sometimes the way we balance this in our brain is to unpeople those who commit atrocities. There is something wrong with them, they are less than people.
More often than spontaneous othering is othering by the will of another. This is propaganda. This is how governments and leaders have whipped their people into a frenzy for centuries uncounted. It is okay for us to fight and kill because They are not like Us. They are not people in the way we are people. They are not human in the way we are human. They are animals, they are monsters, they are without souls. And in this othering they gain the support of the people.
Even then this isn't enough though. Studies and veteran experiences have shown the psychological stress and trauma that comes from taking a human life. When face to face with another human, it becomes a lot harder for people to kill people. Because they are people. The propaganda can only go so far in the face of shared human experience.
You look at the sort of training that goes on in most military boot camps. The way people are broken down and put back together as weapons of war. Humans don't like to kill humans. You can get around this by making the enemy less human, and you can do the same by making the soldier less human too.
The extreme tactics used in boot camps and military training turn people into soldiers, into something capable of looking at another person and pulling the trigger. It weeds out those incapable of being turned into the desired outcome, and forces the rest to conform. It screams into the ears of people on both sides Kill or Be Killed. These are your only options. Talking is not an option. They will not have mercy on you so you cannot have mercy for them. And so the very human concept of mercy must be trained out.
Even this isn't enough. Part of the driving force for the evolution of military technology has not just been the desire to find new ways to kill other people without risking the death of your own, its the ability to increase the degree of separation in the act of killing itself. Killing has gone from the point of a blade, to the pull of a trigger, to the press of a button. How much easier is it to kill from a distance? From a drone? "Its like a video game" some drone pilots have said. How much easier to kill when you can take refuge in such a mindset. When you don't have to hear the screams or smell the blood. When you can avoid the constant reminder that these are people too.
And its scary. Because it is so difficult to resist. Our own minds and consciences want to protect us from the fact that people are capable of committing these atrocities, and the media and the propaganda do their best to make it easier to submit. But giving into the desire to Other those who are committing wrongs just continues the cycle.
Right now there are people in government and people in armies that are committed to supporting and engaging in acts of genocide. People. Not Monsters. People. So many of the arguments to see playing out in the comments of posts about Gaza are just the same pattern repeated. Group A has seen the actions of individuals from People X and labeled the whole people as inhuman monsters and say that People Y are justified in their actions against them. Group B has seen the actions of individuals from People Y and labeled them as inhuman monsters as well.
When you stop condemning actions and start condemning people you start to lose the fight against dehumanization. And when you have dehumanized a people, your emotions are free for another to manipulate.
There is no righteous anger than can successfully be applied to an othered group. No matter how much it feels like it. Nazis are bad right? Nazis deserve death right? If someone you trust tells you someone is a Nazi and hands you a gun and points you on your way then the morally correct thing to do is shoot right? From the outside it is easy to see the propaganda from Russia for what it is. From the inside? How many young boys in Russia went to war thinking they were doing a good thing? Thinking they were fighting Nazis. Like you are supposed to.
How many innocent people died in Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq because you are supposed to kill terrorists.
How many innocent people died in Vietnam because you are supposed to kill communists.
How many innocent indigenous people died in America because you are supposed to kill savages.
How many trans and gay people have died because you are supposed to kill pedophiles?
When you give yourself over to hate can you ever promise that your hatred won't be used to manipulate you? Most people would agree that Nazis are bad, that Pedophiles are bad. But can you trust that you will never be given false information about who is a Nazi, who is a pedophile?
Do you not see that every person wishing death on others feels they are just as righteous in their anger? That dehumanization prevents discussion? How many conservatives cannot comprehend the fact that people support trans rights? Because they are rightly opposed to pedophilia, and when propagandists with an agenda told them who is in this dehumanized group they accepted it as fact. The stance of trans rights is mind boggling to them because it sounds like pedophile rights to them. And because they have extended their dehumanization to trans people they won't talk to them. They won't spend time with them. They won't learn from them.
When actions become labels, those labels can be applied to people who have not committed the actions. Dehumanizing a label is dangerous in a way that condemning an action is not. Because condemning action requires confirmation that the action has actually been committed.
As always, you are not immune to propaganda. Resist the desire to Other. Remember that for good or for bad, people are people. Condemn actions not labels. Protest against genocide. Fight for equal rights. Don't lose yourself to hate.

Okay so the whole vile photo award thing reminded me of this dream I had.
What I've been afraid to mention (it just seemed weird or overly personal, idk) is that that dream was about her. I saw her face in my dream before I saw it on the news. (The post was from 10/10 if you check the time stamps.)
I never knew her in life, but seeing her body broke something in me. I think my mind was trying desperately to re-humanize her because I just couldn't process what I'd seen. That's my best guess, anyway.
Anyway I don't know what the above says about me, but my heart hurts and I'm furious and I'm sick for her family having to see this everywhere against their explicit wishes.

Tim, looking around the darkened corridor: "You think it's a good idea to be breaking into random places right now?"
Jason said nothing, fumbling in his pockets.
Dick: "You live here, don't you?" Which gets everyone's attention laser-focused.
Jason just cast him a look, getting the door open.
Steph entered first, smacking into something that falls over. "Jeez." She complained, stumbling backward until Cass steadied her by the shoulders. "Sorry, that's my bad."
Duke turned on the lights in one motion, making everyone blink and wince.
"Get off me." Damian snapped, and Dick carefully let him go, letting him limp angrily into a chair. He frowned, scrutinizing the place. "You live here? Why would anyone--"
"Guys." Dick rubbed his eyes over the mask, cutting off Damian and Jason’s sharp answer. "First aid kit?" Dick asked Jason tiredly.
Jason nodded, moving to get it and heard Damian ask "What?" in response to a patented glare he must be getting.
Tim had made a beeline for the kitchen. "Dude, why do you have a singular set of dishes? And why are there just guns in this cabinet?"
Jason scoffed, handing Dick the kit. "Didn't realize I was running a fucking bed and breakfast."
"There's guns in this cabinet too!" Tim shook his head, opening and closing two more. "Oh good, just large knives in this one."
At Tim's raised eyebrows, Jason went into the kitchen and shooed Cass down the counter she was perched on, grabbing the paper plates he kept in a drawer and shoving them into Tim's chest.
Glancing at the way Steph was rubbing her neck, slouched at the table, Jason grabbed two ice packs, sliding one her way and throwing the other to Damian.
Duke, taking a book off Jason's meticulously organized shelf: "Why do you have seven copies of Pride and Prejudice? Did you keep forgetting you bought it, or--?"
Jason, storming over to put the book back. "Stop."
Dick looked up from the wound he was stitching. "Are they different at at all?"
"Are they in different languages?" Steph asked.
"Did you barter them for food? Because your fridge is fucking empty." Tim reported.
Jason groaned, realizing that they weren't going to drop it. "One has a different introduction and one is the zombies version. And yes, the rest are the same, now could you all stop touching stuff?"
"Why do you have five copies of the same book?"
