The stationary series
Part III
Tinfoil Chef and Rendog
Synopsis: a series which depicts my view of what type of stationary each of the hermits would use, and how their office would look! To avoid a massive post this has become a series. Under the headcanons of each hermit I’ve includeda list of the stationary used for reference.
A/N: I’m very sorry to hear about TFC’s passing, and his headcanons for this series is extra long and detailed as this is my way of remembering him.
Tinfoil Chef:
He is a true hermit at heart, spending most of his time down in the mines
There is enough light, provided by torches and other light sources in his bigger, more complex roads, so he definitely carries notes with him
From block palette's he used to make the broader, more decorated parts of his mine, to a small map with directions, he jots it all down
He's mostly a fan of mechanical pencils, they're easy to use, and the lead doesn't break as easily with the metal encasing (alike to the rotring rapid pro-0.5)
They are also way easier to clean all the dust off from spending the days carving new passages out of stone
He makes the lead refills himself, as they are made from the carbon of all the coal he finds deep down
Using the coal for this also leaves the lead darker than the average pencil which is convenient for low light levels!
Some fellow hermits seek him out, the short moments he spends above the ground, for his brilliant craftsmanship of the lead fillings (especially Iskall)
For the times when he does prefer ink, he tends to go for a plain metal dipping pen
There are no complicated ink channels and cartridges to keep clean, or prevent from drying
Just the nib that has to be cleaned with water after use, and he prefers the simplicity of it
The wooden handle is worn, and the position of his hand is carved in the worn gloss that had once covered the wood
Because he is quite attached to it, though he most likely wouldn't admit it directly, it is almost always placed on a small stand in his small base under the ground as he is too afraid it would get damaged if he took it with him on his travels
This does mean that once he returns, sometimes after a few days, to draw the new passages on the large map he has on his wall of his cave system, it can be covered in a small layer of dust which will always be gently and carefully wiped away before use
The ink he uses is most often black, he likes the neutrality of it, and how visible it is in low light levels, he also has grey inks in various degrees of darkness
He uses these mostly for drawing passages on his map he plans to add later or things he isn't quite sure about yet
His actual base underground is small, simple, and optimised for its tasks
He has a bed, a lot of storage for all his materials, and a small wooden desk against the wall
His desk is quite neat, a lantern sitting on the edge to provide adequate lighting, the pots of ink ranging lightest to darkest on the other side, a small wooden (personally carved) stand for his pen and a spare mechanical pencil against the wall
There are some notes on the wall, sketches of what he thinks would look good when he creates the main hallways, countless of coordination's of which some he has forgotten what the destination was, various other notes and- off to the side- hangs a picture of him with his wife
One entire wall is covered in parchment paper, a lantern hanging from the ceiling on its two sides, once he had hung one lantern in the middle of the room and called it a day, however his shadow started to bother him increasingly when he added details to the map and so he had come up with this solution
The map is surprisingly neat; however, it has the occasional drop of ink running down a line, or the splatter of a drop of ink
It is the cost of convenience, he'd said
With his base in the middle, the passages featured different access points to the surface (with some even leading to someone's base) with small notes where they ended up, and broader roads for his intricately decorated halls
left to right: metal dip pen with wooden handle, brand unkown, several grey ink swatches of several inks, specifics can be read in the picture, Rotring mechanical pencil 0,5mm width, and a sketch of what i’d think his map would look like in charcoal
Rendog:
Before Ren became a king he thrived with simplicity and a more modern \ technical aesthetic
Regarding his writing in ink needs, he likes to use a TWSBI eco white RGT fountain pen (picture below)
The reasoning is actually quite simple, it writes quite nice and smoothly but above all it is practical
You can see far in advance when the ink will run dry through the see-through barrel of the pen so if he will be out for a long time building and the ink is almost empty, he can refill before he goes
Not only that, but if there are problems with the pen, he can see the ink, where it is, and observe what the problem is and how to fix it
Maybe it will be fixed by a run through with water, or he'll haveto take the pen apart to some degree, at least he'll know before acting
He is also secretly in love with the modern design of the pen, the aesthetic of which reminding him of the GIGA Corps space station in a sense
Ren would be a hoarder of some kind, be it different brands and colours of ink, or a fast growing collection of more fountain pens, possibly with similar designs or the same brand that do not fit on his display tray anymore, or perhaps different types of paper and parchment until he has found the best paper to use, but he hoards something, and it probably won't be something a lot of hermits know about
He is less fixated with pencils, and instead of using one, or a few designated pencils he will leave those small (Ikea sized) pencils all over the place
Ren after he has become king has a more different style than before, everything is a bit more classical, everything has to be shown off a bit more, and above all, it should show he is the king of the server
His modern designed fountain pen will have to make room for the more extravagant Forbidden City HRH Limited Edition pen by visconti (picture below)
The gold, silver and royal red colour is, in his opinion, more fitted for a king
With this, one most write in a similar extravagant coloured ink, for which the gold resembling ink Golden sands by diamine (pictured below) would be used (for the record I DO NOT recommend putting any shimmer inks near a fountain pen of that price, but I digress)
Though for the less official documents one can occasionally see the king reaching for his retired TWSBI pen, or at the very least, use a more muted royal red colour such as the ink Red dragon by Diamine which was probably a favourite of his from before he became King
Maybe he would care to invest in a better pencil as King, but most likely would he leave the drawing of any drafts to his loyal subject Bdubz
This doesn't mean however that his hoarding abilities cease, instead (with the newly acquired budget) it would most likely get worse
The castle (or Crastle) must have a separate office room to suit his needs, with a grand desk for all the paperwork that is needed to rule over a server as big as Hermit craft
The room would be big, two walls covered with bookshelves, a dramatic window with his desk in front of it, a chair across his for small audiences, and a red carpet on the floor
The desk would have a small stand for his fountain pen, while he'd keep his old favourite pens in a drawer for easy access, two pots of ink for easy refilling (the red and gold previously mentioned), a whole lot of papers and a set of candles off to the side
Ideally his office window would overlook the shopping district, so he'd have something to watch when he gets bored or distracted

The HermitCrimes End of Season Crime Review
It's the end of another season of Hermitcraft, and an end to the noble duty of recording how much crime the hermits have committed in the past 2 years
Give or take a few hundred murders, it's not an exact science
So before I get hit over the head with a steel chair by a hermit posting any more videos and/or announcing that season 10 starts tomorrow (It's not. Probably.)
How are the crime stats looking?
Let's start off with...
Our Honourable (And Dishonourable) Mentions
And now for...
The Least Crimes Awards
(Note: All names marked with a * from this point onwards have taken hiatuses from the server, thus affecting their results)
But the question we've all been waiting for:
Who is the most wanted criminal on the Hermitcraft server?
Well it's not these guys.
Because they are...
The Runners Up!
So who could it be?
Well dear viewers it is time to reveal to you...
The Most Wanted Criminal of Hermitcraft Season 9!
Indeed, Geminitay has swiped the crown from previous winner Mumbo Jumbo's head... Probably while she was cutting it off to decorate her basement with
She is living the cottagecore dream
The Charts:
Total Hermit Crimes:
