where: the American Bar in the Savoy Hotel
who: @la-petitmortss
when: midafternoon
Technically, Bora had promised his mother he'd help unload a shipment of antiques from up north. But the truck had come early, and Bora had worked late the night before, and his brothers had ended up unloading before Bora got there. By then his mother was fully occupied with sorting and pricing the new merchandise, so she'd shooed him away from looking through it. But he'd managed to escape with an envelope of photos, and now he sits at the bar of the Savoy hotel, ice melting in his half-finished Tom Collins as he flips through the old pictures, learning about strangers he'll never meet.
--At least, until Charlotte comes in. Catching the glimpse of movement in the mirror behind the bar, he looks up and rolls his eyes. "You couldn't go anywhere else?" But he slides over nonetheless, so she too can use the mirror to watch the rest of the room behind them, even as he flags down the bartender and orders a whiskey straight. "I'm going to need something stronger to deal with this."

Cora kinda of like having a little protege. Alright, so she really liked having a little protege. Nemo was young, sure, but he was very talented! And he had a lot of enthusiasm, which Cora loved. Enthusiasm was half the battle with talents like dancing and playing instruments and probably other things like painting and writing, too. Anyone could learn choreography, or learn to play the piano, but you had to have enthusiasm if you wanted to be good at it. You had to want to do it. Or at least, that was her opinion.
And even if Nemo couldn’t dance right now, that didn’t mean he couldn’t still get stuck in. Hence why Cora had invited him up to the studio at Olympus. She was kind of sweaty and gross ‘cause she’d just had a class (and she was kind of a hypocrite if she didn’t give it her all and really go for it when she was the one leading the group, right?), but she wanted to go over some of the new choreography she’d come up with for December’s zumba classes. Christmas dance music was in surprisingly easy to find, so she’d managed to get a few different playlist going, she just wanted to make sure it all flowed.
(She also wanted to make sure Nemo didn’t get too down in the dumps about things. Gotta keep the spirits up, that sort of thing.)
When the door to the studio opened Cora smiled, waving Nemo in. “C’mon, get in - take a seat. I brought a chair in for you, you don’t want to sit on the floor in here. God knows what’s been on it. How’re you doing?”

❛ i was just gonna say how special and cool and great this place is and how i'm the most proud of you ever. ❜ // for Little Sis Lottie 🖤
She had shown him one of her favorite places to go. A waterfall on the outskirts of Magnolia, a small one but a waterfall nonetheless. It fed into some rocks, and she could watch it all day as it rained down. She sat on a nearby rock, sitting next to Deiru, and as he spoke she'd turn her attention towards him.
"Aww -- you really like it? I do too! I come here sometimes to clear my mind." She wouldn't mention that she came here whenever she'd lose someone, or whenever she had just endured a screaming fit from one of the people who died's parents, blaming her for their deaths.
"You're... proud of me? Really? Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you!"

What do we think, will we get Briar Valley Event somewhere in the future? And WILL WE SEE PRESENT PEEPAW ZIGVOLT? I wonder what Sebek meant that he looks older and I really wanna see Lilia and his relationship after retirement. What do you think?
god I hope so, I desperately want to see Briar Valley and whatever family member they throw at us. and if it's Baul I hope he's the exact same sprite but with, like, a mustache crudely pasted on. that's how he looks in my head and in my heart.
my entire KINGDOM to see one or both of Sebek's parents though, they are the best characters in all of Twst and they haven't shown up even once. 😭 though I think I might prefer his dad, because 1) show me the noodley dentistman, and 2) Mrs. Z is such a mythical figure in my mind at this point that reality could never compare (w-what if she gets a canon design and she isn't a hundred feet tall and could crack the earth by flexing her thighs, how could I go on) (jk jk she's so great that I would love her no matter what) (but also...)
of course based on past Twst events if they go to Briar Valley it's just going to go basically like this:

Aziraphale is a guardian.
We left him at the end of s1 with the knowledge that apocalypse was still coming. He'd saved the world for that day, but Heaven was still bent on destroying it. The ones with the power to burn everything were still inescapably loveless. It really looked like he and Crowley alone of all the Earth-walking beings would fight for the world.
And he loves the world so much. The opening scenes of him in the record shop, buying his Shostakovich 78s? The warmth toward Maggie and her music and her heart? The generosity, and the delight in the shared understanding, and the pleasure in the discovery that he could make her life better? That he could spare her pain, give her a little more time with her joys? He knows how fragile those are.
He wants to give that to the whole world.
He wants to believe he can lift the doom hanging over them all, banish it permanently. He is desperate to believe it. Even if he wasn't longing so fervently to be seen, approved, affirmed by God's word (I was so undone by his jealousy as he watched Job speak to her) -- even without that I can't imagine him not wavering at Heaven's offer, faced with the chance that he could use all Heaven's might to guard the world again and get it right this time.
And then he's offered that power with apparent warmth, and feigned approval, and the shameless claim that at last they understand. They hear what he's been trying desperately to tell them as long as he's lived in the world. They're telling him that he's finally made his point -- that they are proud he's tried so hard for so long.
So -- the ending is shattering. It is maddening. It's utterly unfair on Crowley. And I didn't see it coming, and yet.
Aziraphale is a guardian. He really will have to see for himself that power won't love what's good; there is no way to make the world safe forever.
