HOBBIT 911 AU!!!!!

Bilbo joins firefighting station 118 with only one idea in mind- give his nephew Frodo a safe enviornmemt after losing his entire family.

What he did not count on was the Firefighter family. Thorin, a grumpy asshole who seems jealous of him. Dis, the paramedic who is intrigued by his presence. Bofur, a bubbly joker who immediately takes him in. And Balin, the station head.

Tangled in emergencies and police and 911 responders, Bilbo finds something he only wanted for his boy.

A family.

Imagine: a Dragonborn in The Hobbit

With my poor memory of Tolkien lore, my love for D&D, and just fantasy in general, I've been thinking about a Dragonborn reader going on the adventure to the Lonely Mountain with the dwarven company + 1 Burglar, and sometimes a Wizard.

Please be chill about semantics, I'm so terribly sleep-deprived.

I like to imagine Reader as a Dragonborn can shift and phase through how much of a dragon they look like. Their more human form makes them look odd, something is still strange about them, but most don’t know they’re hiding something unless they are receptive to magical concealment.

Reader is picked up and tagged along with the company shortly before they reach the elven woods, so the dwarves are wary of them because of what has happened to their bloodline involving dragons. Thorin is the least trusting, accusing them and being nitpicky about how they are with the party.

Thranduil is also not pleased with a dragon walking among the dwarves when they get captured in the Mirkwood forest, because of his own history. He can see through their lie to conceal themselves very quickly.

The elves put them on the spot when Thorin and Thranduil are bickering and Thorin is also intrigued by the interrogation.

Their response is more so, “Would you look at yourselves, see how well you get along because you both hate dragons?”

When questioned if they will turn on the dwarves, and the elves then after, because of the temptation of gold in the lonely mountain they reassure that gold is not their fascination, and they have no interest in keeping it. 

Everyone gets into it about dragon hordes, and yes they’re dragon-like but not wholly a dragon, and yes they collect things but a massive hoard is too overkill they prefer something more personal. 

This forces them to show everyone a sachet hanging from their belt pouch containing smooth and bright-colored stones, sea shells, and things you’d find on the ground. The Dragonborn is very uncomfortable doing this and gets quiet and grumbly, eyes calculating where everyone is around their “hoard”.  (While traveling on this adventure, an acorn Bilbo gives them is added to the sachet, to remember him by)

This is only step one of proving to the others that Dragonborns are not entirely dragons, everyone makes their own choices and has their path in life so we should just not assume someone’s entire character based on their birth, right? Hopefully, the Dragonborn can get through to everyone so they'll at least calm down enough to lessen the tension. Or else this will indeed be a long, long journey.

(Bonus points if Reader sings the Misty Mountain song, as an offering to show that they’ll stand by the dwarves)

Smeagol, after finding the ring, did something truly in line with his nature as a Hobbit.

First off he absolutely killed his friend.

Second, he placed it in his distillery to see if it would give the mead any particular flavor.

Smeagol is known as an odd fellow now, deteriorated and possessive, but he makes the best mead any Hobbit has ever tasted, and no one knows his secret.

Also, everyone who drinks the mead is said to gain ten years to their life.

I want a fic where Sam and Frodo are sneaking around making out where/when ever they can get away Bilbo for more than a few minutes and they think they’re super sneaky with no chance of getting caught until one day they’re a little too wreckless in broad daylight near the entrance when Bilbo is in the garden

Things are getting heated when Bilbo returns saying he forgot his pipe

They quickly separate but Bilbo already saw 🫣

Frodo freezes he’s so scared that Bilbo will be angry that he’s with their gardener (MALE gardener)

Sam doesn’t know what to do and tries to quickly explain falling all over his words trying to think of an excuse and says that Frodo tripped and he caught him

Bilbo gives them a soft expression ‘oh lads no need to hide’

Frodo’s even more flustered than Sam and can only get out a panicked ‘uncle ??’ before Bilbo ushers them to the sitting room and urges them to sit with him around the hearth ‘I’ll share a there and back again tale I never told anyone, not even you Frodo my lad’

Frodo’s fluttered ‘ I don’t think this is the time for stories uncle’

Bilbo tells them of a time long ago when he secretly loved the king under the mountain

You see, love for elves is such a serious matter. Attraction, lust, desire: those are shallow things. Shallow, ephemeral, mutable things. When and elve love, it's forever. Not even death can shattered this bond.

Thranduil went throught a lot. He saw Mordor, a part of him was buried there and will never grow back again. Thranduil veiled his father, and took care of his responsibilities. Thranduil led his people against Sauron's attempts to regain power. Meanwhile his realm was attacked and explored, he saw other leaders daring to say that Sauron was dead.

Thranduil became stronger, mostly because he didn't had another choice. Thranduil became wiser, because his people needed a good king. Thranduil became wary, because no one would help his realm but himself. But Thranduil didn't became heartless. Not at all.

At first, Thranduil sees you in paralel to him. You are stronger, but in a way different from his. Wiser, but different than him. And less wary. Less careful. Thranduil lived long enough to understand himself. He fell in love. And knowing that, he wouldn't act on this love.

Thranduil wouldn't court you. Would try to not think about you. To get away from you. Thranduil needs to understand if his feeling is truly. If it's something that will last. Mostly, if it's something he can control or that will control him. Thranduil isn't heartless, but his wary make it look like he is.

But what make his heart skip a beat is your honesty. The second you speak whatever is on your mind, act respecting your heart's desires, make sure to honest to yourself: Thranduil is whipped. To able to see who you really are, not affraid that you're hidden something, made him undertood something.

His grief and wary is tremendous, but his love for you is bigger than his fear. Thranduil have been alone for such a long time. It feels nice to be alone with you.
