Eddie munson x reader
Warnings: none, fluff. Soft!eddie
Tumblr media
"C'mon babe, I'm putting in the movie!" Edde yelled from across the room.
You were busy getting the snacks together for your weekly movie night. You had one every day of the week if Eddie didn't work too late. Since today is Thursday. That means it's Lord of the Rings night. Or as Eddie refers to it, Tolkien Thursdays. This week, you and him would be watching Return of the King together.
He's seen these movies probably more than you can count. Yet every time he presses play, he's like a little kid watching it for the first time. Eddie knows every single piece of trivia there is to know right down to the actors' shoe size. He's watched all of their interviews and will quote "when will you wear wigs" at any given opportunity. Eddie thinks that interview is the funniest thing to exist.
"I'm coming!" You yelled back, dumping the bag of popcorn in a large bowl.
You rush to join him on the couch, setting the bowl down on the table next to the sodas you brought in earlier.
"Hurry, hurry." He waved
"Eddie, you haven't even pressed play yet," you smile, shaking your head.
"You can't miss a single second, babe, not one." His said eyes trained to the screen in front of him.
You watch him with amusement as the opening title finally appears. Your eyes locked on him while. You couldn't help but think it was so cute how animated he got at times. As the movie went on, Eddie seemed to calm down a little. You just knew if you put your palm to his chest, you could feel his heart beating a mile a minute.
Smiling softly, you move to lay your head in his lap and watched the ending battle. Eddies favorite part besides Denethor tells Pippin to sing for him. He knows the song by heart, and you do too now. You often hear him humming it in the shower after he gets off work.
You felt him jump and gasp as is he doesn't know what's about to happen.
"You paying attention, baby?" His voice sounding panicked. He moves a hand to gently stroke down your face before placing it on the curve of your hip.
You chuckled slightly, "Yea, Ed, I'm watching."
This was the part he looked forward to most. The scene where Eowyn defeats the witch king. You felt him shift as he leaned forward. He's trying to contain his excitement since you're lying on him. Normally, he would be jumping out of his seat, screaming at the top of his lungs.
"I am no man." He whispered, yelled to himself. You don't have to touch him to know he has goosebumps all over. Eddie was always at his happiest at these moments. You heard him repeating his favorite lines to himself all throughout the movie.
"Psst! You awake? " Eddie gently shook your shoulder.
"I'm awake."
He leaned back after getting a handful of popcorn. out stretched his legs, getting comfortable himself.
Did you know Frodo falls down 39 times in this?" He snorted with a mouth full of popcorn.
"He sounds a lot like me." You laugh as he continued telling you little facts here and there. The credits have started rolling, and Eddie still hasn't stopped educating you on his favorite trilogy. You soaked it all in every little detail he told you about. He even taught you how to say "I love you" in Elvish.
"So that's what you've been saying to me this whole time?"
"Yep." Eddie grinned from ear to ear.
You could listen to him ramble on forever. His face lighting up at the mention of Lord of the Rings is enough to keep you asking him about it. His smile was infectious. You never want it to go away. The way you both relaxed into one another during these moments was very special to you both. There was instant peace it felt like all of your worries just melted away.
"Eddie?" You call out to him.
"Yeah?"
"Can you read to me tonight? " Your eyes grow heavy as you turn to look up at him.
"Of course, baby. Ready for bed?" Eddie smiled down at you.
You nod. "Mmhmm."
"Kay, let's get you to bed then." He let out a loud yawn and popped the knuckles on his hands.
Eddie spent the next hour and a half reading The Hobbit to you. Trying your damn best to stay up longer. He was an amazing, great storyteller. He liked to make up little voices for each character as he read out loud to you. Eventually, sleep won and took over you and him.
Eddie fell asleep a little after you with the book tucked under his chin. Your head leaning against his shoulder. This became another part of your routine together. Movie nights and then a book before bed. You loved the way he would get so immersed in them both. Now you really understand why the kids loved having him as their DM. He made it fun and exciting. You didn't think you could fall in love with him more than you already were. But you were wrong. You were very wrong.

You’re in the Fellowship and the Hobbits have a crush on you...
a/n: lol there’s no explanation for this, just a cutesy idea that came to me. yes I know I’m still not finished with my Legolas story 😅 no warnings here, just fluff and chaos 💛 (the reader here is human/elf/dwarf/anything but a hobbit for extra fascination 😆) lemme know how you liked it! 😘
+ tagging @starlady66 as requested
Tumblr media
For starters let's just (re)establish one thing: being subtle and lowkey is not something any of them vibe with (except sometimes Frodo)
If you're an Elf, Sam would be infatuated with you beyond words. You would just be talking about something and he'd stare with the biggest heart eyes, and then blush furiously either when one of his friends point it out, or when you make eye contact with him - he'd be so red in the face
Oftentimes he would ask you lots of questions with genuine curiosity, and you would be more than happy to answer, whether it's about historical events, songs and stories, customs of your own race, your travels... Anything, and he wants to know it all
Whenever he cooks for the fellowship, you (after Frodo, of course) get the most delicious piece of whatever he made, you caught on it fairly quickly
Many times the Hobbits will talk about you (only the best, of course), but they would be unaware of how loud they're being, and you would hear so many adorable comments and try not to giggle
"Did you see how [y/n] fought off that orc?!"
Frodo would enjoy engaging with you in meaningful, deep conversations, and you think he's wonderful to talk to, yet the spark in his eyes gives him away. And sometimes he has a little smile on his face, no matter what you talk about, he just enjoys talking to you and having your full attention 🥺
wait hold up, Sam would give you random flowers he found along the way, or he would just show you and teach you about many different plants
Like I said, Frodo would be the most lowkey of all of them, but you picked up easily on his mannerisms and you can now read him like a book
You have a great knowledge of Middle-earth and he often wants to consult with you when trying to make a decision where to go next
You yourself are very protective of the four Hobbits and just have a soft spot for all of them, you like to ruffle their curly hair and sometimes tell them a legend or sing an ancient song as they go to sleep
They all love to stay close to you when you're walking over long distances, especially Frodo and Pippin
Firstly, they feel safe with you, secondly, they enjoy your company
You try to always reassure them in little ways
You always always always have a snack or a piece of candy in your pocket for any of them 🤫
You practice sword fighting with Frodo a lot, you're very concerned for his safety, of course
Sometimes that would make the other 3 just a tiny bit jealous, and then of course you'd have to do it with everyone
Gandalf had known you for a while and trusts you, therefore, all four Hobbits trust you completely
Merry is super loud and boisterous around you, shamelessly trying to get your attention, and then keep it for as long as possible
He likes to act all brave and tough when you get attacked by orcs, but more times than not you ended up saving him
Merry is definitely the boldest when it comes to openly complimenting you, and he's very dramatic about it also
In comparison to him, Sam can sometimes feel extra shy and inadequate, but you make sure to let him know you appreciate him and what he does and says
He's just as important!!!!
Sam would tell Frodo that he's crushing on you (not like it's hard to tell...) and when Frodo says he's having the same feelings, Sam immediately wants to back out but Frodo is like "you really think [y/n] would end up with either of us?"
Merry and Pippin enjoy telling you stories of their mischievous adventures so much, and they exaggerate stuff so much in order to make themselves seem cooler
You think they're unbelievably fun either way
So, Pippin is canonically the smallest and youngest and you have an EXTRA soft spot for him, and also he's the most painfully obvious about his crush
He's always sooo embarrassed when Gandalf is strict with him because you can also hear the wizard's reprimands of the young Hobbit
He blushes furiously and he gives you a sad baby look and you always reassure him that "accidents can happen to anyone" and "Gandalf can just be grumpy like that, it's not your fault"
More than once he instinctively hid behind you in a dangerous situation
Sometimes for safety he likes to hold the hem of your cloak and fiddle with it as you walk - helps him get his mind off of all the impending dangers
The other 3 Hobbits would relentlessly make fun of him for being so obvious but he doesn't care in the slightest
Many times when you were alone on the night watch, one of the Hobbits just happened to be unable to sleep and would keep you company instead
Once during the night watch Merry was hanging out with you and laughed so loudly at something you said that half of the fellowship woke up and wanted to strangle him
Especially in those late hours Frodo likes to confide in you and even talk about his dreams and visions that you try to interpret together
You teach Sam about the stars and constellations and phases of the moon
Almost every time Pippin joins you on the night watch, he ends up falling asleep like hugging you around your legs as you stand alert or something (i diagnose him with BABY)
He very much loves to give you cool rocks that he gathers on the way
If any of the Hobbits has an unpleasant dream that wakes them up, they come to you, you just have the calming protective energy (and candy in your pockets, when you think about that...)
If only one of them had a crush on you, it would be a lot to handle, let alone FOUR
But they're so cute that you just can't dismiss them or ignore them ever
And maybe all that lovely chaos is a good distraction from everything bad happening around you

‘For that was the custom of the Elves of Lórien ...
... to dwell in the trees, and maybe it is so still. Therefore they were called the Galadhrim, the Tree-people. Deep in their forest the trees are very great. The people of the woods did not delve in the ground like Dwarves, nor build strong places of stone before the Shadow came.'
`And even in these latter days dwelling in the trees might be thought safer than sitting on the ground,' said Gimli. He looked across the stream to the road that led back to Dimrill Dale, and then up into the roof of dark boughs above.
`Your words bring good counsel, Gimli,' said Aragorn. `We cannot build a house, but tonight we will do as the Galadhrim and seek refuge in the tree-tops, if we can. We have sat here beside the road already longer than was wise.'
The Company now turned aside from the path, and went into the shadow of the deeper woods, westward along the mountain-stream away from Silverlode. Not far from the falls of Nimrodel they found a cluster of trees, some of which overhung the stream. Their great grey trunks were of mighty girth, but their height could not be guessed.
Tumblr media
`I will climb up,' said Legolas. `I am at home among trees, by root or bough, though these trees are of a kind strange to me, save as a name in song. Mellyrn they are called, and are those that bear the yellow blossom, but I have never climbed in one. I will see now what is their shape and way of growth.'
`Whatever it may be,' said Pippin, `they will be marvellous trees indeed if they can offer any rest at night, except to birds. I cannot sleep on a perch! '
'Then dig a hole in the ground,' said Legolas, `if that is more after the fashion of your kind. But you must dig swift and deep, if you wish to hide from Orcs.' He sprang lightly up from the ground and caught a branch that grew from the trunk high above his head. But even as he swung there for a moment, a voice spoke suddenly from the tree-shadows above him.
`Daro!' it said in commanding tone, and Legolas dropped back to earth in surprise and fear. He shrank against the bole of the tree.
'Stand still! ' he whispered to the others. `Do not move or speak! '
There was a sound of soft laughter over their heads, and then another clear voice spoke in an elven-tongue. Frodo could understand little of what was said, for the speech that the Silvan folk east of the mountains used among themselves was unlike that of the West. Legolas looked up and answered in the same language.*
`Who are they, and what do they say? ' asked Merry.
`They're Elves,' said Sam. `Can't you hear their voices? '
`Yes, they are Elves,' said Legolas; `and they say that you breathe so loud that they could shoot you in the dark.' Sam hastily put his hand over his mouth. 'But they say also that you need have no fear. They have been aware of us for a long while. They heard my voice across the Nimrodel, and knew that I was one of their Northern kindred, and therefore they did not hinder our crossing; and afterwards they heard my song. Now they bid me climb up with Frodo; for they seem to have had some tidings of him and of our journey. The others they ask to wait a little and to keep watch at the foot of the tree, until they have decided what is to be done.'
Tumblr media
Out of the shadows a ladder was let down: it was made of rope, silver-grey and glimmering in the dark, and though it looked slender it proved strong enough to bear many men. Legolas ran lightly up, and Frodo followed slowly; behind came Sam trying not to breathe loudly. The branches of the mallorn-tree grew out nearly straight from the trunk, and then swept upward; but near the top the main stem divided into a crown of many boughs, and among these they found that there had been built a wooden platform, or flet as such things were called in those days: the Elves called it a talan. It was reached by a round hole in the centre through which the ladder passed.
When Frodo came at last up on to the flet he found Legolas seated with three other Elves. They were clad in shadowy-grey, and could not be seen among the tree-stems, unless they moved suddenly. They stood up, and one of them uncovered a small lamp that gave out a slender silver beam. He held it up, looking at Frodo's face, and Sam's. Then he shut off the light again, and spoke words of welcome in his elven-tongue. Frodo spoke haltingly in return.
`Welcome!' the Elf then said again in the Common Language, speaking slowly. 'We seldom use any tongue but our own; for we dwell now in the heart of the forest, and do not willingly have dealings with any other folk. Even our own kindred in the North are sundered from us. But there are some of us still who go abroad for the gathering of news and the watching of our enemies, and they speak the languages of other lands. I am one. Haldir is my name.

Hi! How are you? I saw that your requests were open and I wanted to ask for a..
Pippin x GN reader, (Or fem reader if you are ok with that)
Ideas; pippin helping reader when reader gets really stressed when reader has to cook (not by cutting things but when a pan with water needs to boil.)
Or that pippin catches reader dancing by herself and reader is very embarrased
Or pippin going on a picnick with reader and bees come hang around as well, but reader is afraid of bees.
Or if you have any ideas you can write them 😅I am just very happy with any story haha.
Have a nice day and sorry this ask is very long to read.😅
(ah thank you so much! I love all those ideas, I'm just gonna pick one for now but I might end up doing the others in future - I'll see :) hope you enjoy!)
May I have this dance? (Pippin x gn!human!reader)
It had been such a relief for Pippin, returning to the Shire, the ring now gone, and with you now by his side. You may have been a human and not normally invited into the Shire, but he loved you miles more than he hated the glares from other hobbits. He had wholehearted approval from Merry, so who else's opinion did he really need?
Speaking of Merry, Pippin had just been out with him and Sam - one the first times that they'd been able to spend time with one another without any kind of looming threat - while you insisted on staying at home to prepare dinner and bake if you got a spare moment. The afternoon had been wonderful, but he couldn't wait to return and have you all to himself for the evening.
The second he opened the front door - to the hobbit hole he now shared with you, he reminded himself giddily - a grin crossed Pippin's face, hearing the gentle sound of your humming echoing through the hall. He always enjoyed hearing the songs you knew, and he also realized that it meant you wouldn't have heard him come in just yet...
Slowly padding over to the kitchen, he peeked round the doorway to find you with a mixing bowl in front of you, swaying your hips to the tune you were half-humming, half-singing. Pippin's smile grew as he leaned on the doorway and watched. You continued baking... whatever it was you were making, he was too distracted to tell, and your singing grew louder, and your dancing became more enthusiastic, and you spun around and-
"Pip!" You exclaimed. "You scared me!" You laughed nervously, a blush dusting your cheeks, as you moved forward to kiss him. "I didn't realize you'd be back so soon."
"Hard not to come back when it's you waiting for me," he said with a grin, noticing the air of embarrassment you held since being caught. You smiled at him before returning to your baking, noticeably quieter than he would've liked.
"Why's the show stopped, sunshine? I was enjoying it."
Your blush grew darker at the question and you glanced back at him. "Why, how long were you watching?"
"Not nearly as long as I wanted to." He took your hand and leant against the counter. "Keep going?" he asked, a hopeful look in his eyes.
You shifted on your feet. "I don't know, I don't normally dance in front of people..."
Pippin thought for a second, then seemed to leap up and grabbed both of your hands. "Maybe if it's both of us..?" At the slightly skeptical look on your face, he bowed exaggeratedly and looked up at you, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "May I have this dance, my love?"
You chuckled and rolled your eyes, then curtsied exaggeratedly in return. "I'd be honored."
He pulled you into the middle of the room and started singing the same song you were humming earlier, then you joined in and started swaying with him - Pippin always did make it feel easier to let loose. His enthusiasm was contagious, and soon you were spinning around the room, the sound of your singing interrupted by the both of you laughing. When the song (regrettably, Pippin thought) came to an end, you let out a sigh and smiled.
"That was... actually really nice."
"What can I say?" He grinned. "I have the best ideas."
And the next time he caught you dancing in the kitchen, sunlight shining through the window and making you glow, you smiled and offered your hand. Pippin was convinced he'd somehow found an angel.

Recounting A Long-Expected, Never To Pass party
Part of the There and Back Again (Starting From The End) series
They're not even a day out from Erebor when, after a bit of somber silence at the knowledge of the quest ahead of them, Kili speaks up.
"So, Bilbo," he says. "Uncle tells us you knew two Hobbits who reminded you of us."
Bilbo chuckles merrily, puffing a pipe scrounged from the ruins even as he walks- they're not making much haste yet, still recovering from their journey to the mountain itself- they'd all been terribly pained to leave, but it couldn't be helped. Bilbo isn't sure if he can resist The Ring as Frodo did, and Gandalf agrees it's best to travel with a large band in case they are still yet hunted. Even with Azog gone, dangers roam the wildlands.
Even so, Bilbo drinks in this time with his long-ago companions, family, like a sapling tasting of rain for the first time in many long years among a desolate patch of land. "Going around telling all of my business, Thorin?" he teases.
"They'd asked about what you'd shared with me," Thorin says, a small quick of his lips showing he knew Bilbo's comment was in jest.
"Yes, I did know two hobbits quite like you boys," Bilbo says to Kili, and he hears Kili and Fili murmur to each other in excitement. "Steady now! You won't meet them for some time yet. But I have plenty of stories to share, if you like."
"I think we'd all enjoy a merry tale or two," Balin says, grimmer than the young princes. "We're not likely to see much merry ourselves on this journey."
"Exactly my thinking, Balin. Let's see, where to start... well, one of their grandest muck-abouts was at my own birthday, my hundred-eleventh near sixty years after returning home. Gandalf rode in for the party of course- we always kept a close friendship after the journey- and brought with him his magnificent fireworks."
"You make fireworks?" Bofur said in surprise, looking up at Gandalf.
"Indeed I do. They were the only thing Bilbo recalled about me when I came to his door."
"Yes, well, you brought many for my party, of course. I'd invited half the shire, and the other half had turned up anyway!" He let out a laugh. "And Merry and Pippin- nicknames spoken more often their their full names- they of course got themselves into a spot of trouble. They went and rifled through your cart, so I was told, and pulled out a firework in the visage of a dragon! I imagine you'd intended it as the party-ender show, and a treat for the children who adored my stories."
"You told hobbit children about this quest?" Dwalin looks at Bilbo skeptically.
"Oh, put away that look, Dwalin. I told them uh... approximations, of our journey. Close enough to inspire wonder and teach some valuable lessons, but changed a bit to add some fun. I made up a wonderful song for the incident with the spiders- ha! If only I'd thought of it in the moment and not years later." Bilbo smiles fondly as he talks, his pipe resting in the corner of his mouth and occasionally drawn and puffed from.
"You, singin' a song?" Nori snorts. "Can't imagine it."
"Hobbit sing often! I've come up with a good few myself, even along our quest. I just didn't find it entirely appropriate to sing them. But you're getting me off track! Merry and Pippin stole the dragon firework and lit it- inside one of the tents, Frodo told me they'd later discovered. Burnt and flung into the water by the flight. The dragon swooped down upon us all, and I remember- yes, I remember Frodo grabbing me and telling me there was a dragon, and I told him 'Nonsense! There hadn't been a dragon in these parts in a thousand years!' He pushed me to the ground as it flew overhead, and the whole of Hobbiton watched with baited breath as it flew away before bursting into showers of light! Quite a good show, we all thought, and I later saw the dirty faces of Merry and Pippin washing up the dishes as Gandalf smoked and watched."
Gandalf laughs now. "Perhaps this time around you'll get them to be better behaved."
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it," Bilbo ways with a glint in his eye. "I was just as bad by then."
"Got stuck with the sticky fingers, eh?" Nori grins approvingly.
"Not quite, Nori. But at the same party, oh I made it a night to truly remember. The memory is a bit soured now, knowing the nature of The Ring, but even so it's a good one."
"How did The Ring play into a party?" Ori is throughly confused between his two older brothers.
"Oh, I used it to get into all sorts of mischief over the years. In particular, I was prompted to go and give a speech as the party was reaching a natural high- and of course I'd planned to give one anyway. I got up on one of the ale barrels, and I remember exactly what I said, as I'd planned it for many weeks."
Bilbo clears his throat, and tries to adjust his voice to match his older tones more- a strange sensation to be sure.
"My dear Bagginses and Boffins, Tooks and Brandybucks! Grubbs, Chubbs, Hornblowers, Bolgers! Bracegirdles! And Proudfoots!"
He interrupts his own recreation to shakes his head. "Got that name wrong, but it drew a laugh from the crowd when he corrected me so it hardly ruined the event."
"That's a strange lot of names, laddie," Dwalin says.
"I could say the same about yours. All entirely respectable Hobbit families- well, depending upon who you ask. Now what came next... ah, yes."
"Today is my one-hundreth and eleventith birthday! But alas, eleventy-one years is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
It draws some surprised barks of laughter from the company, including Gandalf, and Bilbo thinks it might bite the end right off of the pipe if he smiles any harder hearing the laughs of his dear friends- Thorin, Fili, and Kili most of all.
"The looks on their faces! They didn't grasp onto it very well, and the ones who did didn't appreciate it! But I knew it'd bring amusement somewhere, in some day."
"I'm going to use that whenever we have to start sitting in on Court Meetings," Kili snickers.
"You will do no such thing," Thorin warns.
"Let the boys have a bit of fun, Thorin," Bilbo chides. "Life is too short to not, even when it's longer than an age. Otherwise you may end up like Thranduil did- took many years of tense teatimes to soften him up, I tell you. Don't give me that look you lot, there's few others to talk with in those lands and by the time I awake back here I'd spoken to just about every elf many lifetimes over. Now, I went to say- I feigned a bit of nervousness here to sell it, and don't allow anyone to tell you otherwise, purely for show did I stumble on my words and I include them now to give the most accurate impression of the event-"
"I uh, I ha-have things to do. And here I reached into my pocket, and pulled out The Ring so that no-one saw it, and put my hands behind my back. And I went on to mutter a bit to myself- nasty habit I picked up on this very quest- and put my attention on Frodo."
"I regret, to announce, this, is the end. I'm going now. I bid you all a very fond farewell. Goodbye."
The company are all leaning in, enraptured- including Gandalf, though there's a worry to his expression not unlike when he'd heard the speech the first time around.
"And in front of the whole of Hobbiton, I vanished! There one moment, completely gone in the next! The crowd went into an uproar, of course, or as much of one as a party of well-drunk and fed hobbits can be. I raced back up to Bag End and didn't take The Ring off until I got back inside and shut my door."
Bilbo near giggles at the memory. "Oh, the looks on their faces! I got quite a scolding from Gandalf afterwards, as you can imagine. Magic rings are not to be taken lightly, and of course in the moment I couldn't imagine why that was. And then, ah..."
"Well, then it turned to a moment more befitting of the evil The Ring holds. But even then, the memory of that final great prank kept me smiling and laughing for many years!"
"... Well... if it wasn't such an evil ring, I'd ask you to borrow it and do something similar," Kili admits, smiling. "Can you imagine, Fili?"
"And you'd rally us all up into a search party," the eldest brother says with a small smile. "Imagine Nori with an ability like that. None of us would be able to find anything ever again."
"Perhaps," Balin interrupts, "We shouldn't speak so lightly of the powers it gives. Temptation is easily felt, and not so easily dismissed."
Fili and Kili share a look, and then nod.
"We didn't mean anything by it," Fili says.
"Purely admiring our own Bilbo Baggins becoming a mischief maker," Kili adds.
"And I've got plenty more mischief left, once this whole nasty business is done," Bilbo says, head held high and smile bright with amusement.

Small Child's Thoughts on "A Knife in the Dark" Part 2
Strider knows a lot of things.
I like concealment sometimes when I am hiding from my sisters. But they’re just not bad like Black Riders, just annoying to me when I want to be alone.
No shelter is probably bad, because they need to be hiding.
No, I just don’t think that light was from Gandalf, mom. I think it was only lightning.
What’s a fortnight? Oh. That’s a long time.
Oh no! Black Riders are bad guys!
Why does Pippin have more than one name too? Actually, I think all the hobbits do, right? (Except Frodo.) Well, that’s because Frodo is the best one. Best people only need one name.
You don’t like the smelling, right Mama? You think its creepy.
Uh oh, Frodo has that Ring. That will draw all the enemies close and that’s not a good thing at all.
I don’t want to hear more about Gil-Galad because I didn’t like it.
Is Strider going to sing? Is he going to sing a long song? Will you just read it instead like the poetry when we do school together? (Do you like the poetry better?) No, not at all. I just don’t want you to sing.
What are Silmarils? (Yeah, you’re not ready for that story yet, Small Child. Mommy is just reading it for the first time now. But maybe when you’re older, I’ll read it to you.) Okay.
Oh my goodness this is so scary. Remember I told you if we got to a scary part you should stop reading? (Yes. Do you want to stop for tonight, my love?) No! I need to know what happens! But maybe we can say a prayer together after so I wont feel afraid anymore.
Is Frodo killed?! (Let me keep reading and you’ll find out.) No, just tell me now! There are more books about this so I think maybe he is not but if you get stabbed you are sometimes killed. (Frodo is not dead.) Oh. Okay. Whew!

I am god and now am giving out sexualities to lotr charachters because no one can stop me. And I have insomnia and sleep deprived.
Frodo: A gay trans man and on the ace spectrum
Samwise: Bisexual and there's a reason I nickname him transwise gamgee. (samfro is t4t)
Pippin: Just a feral nonbinary guy (They/he) and is pansexual. he falls in love easily. Probalbly had a crush on everyone they met throughout the journey. (he even had a crush on tom bombadil because he liked his little gay songs)
Merry: Token straight out of the hobbits and is in love with eowyn, which is now his sexuality.... (I mean i dont blame him)
Boromir: Definitely not straight. I mean have you seen him? gay, absolutely gay
Aragorn: Straight but has questioned his gender many times.
Gandalf: The most aro/ace icon out there. Uses all pronouns. Will trans your gender and turn homophobes, transphobes and general bigots into toads. Move out of her way or you will be crushed by her heels.
Legolas: pretty fluid when it comes to gender, mostly uses he/they pronouns however he really doesn't mind anything else. He identifies as queer.
Gimli: he's a bear bisexual and will kill anyone who purposely misgenders another. He is dating his partner Legolas and has a lot of fun with them when they hunt down bigots.
Eowyn: She is bisexual and also loved merry (except they are both too scared to make the first move)
Faramir: Gandalf helped him transition when he was a child. All he wants is to be accepted by his father. Boromir loves that he has a brother. He is also unlabled.
Denethor: Repressed bisexual.
Arwen: I cant tell if shes straight or bi, but I’m leaning towards the latter
Elrond: The best dad in the world, but otherwise he is also straight.
Bilbo: The gay traumatized fun uncle. Obviously had a dwarf husband, but sadly is widowed. Now he sings his gay little songs and everyone adores him. mood tbh
Eomer: Straight but is extremely supportive of Gimli and Legolas that he cries whenever they do something sweet to one another. It gets worse when he's drunk.
Theodred: Hes not even really in the book but I need to spread my Boromir/Theodred rare pair ship. Hes bisexual obviously.
Galadriel: Intersex, nonbinary (they/she) and has a hot trophy husband.
Celeborn: the trophy husband, a trans man and is queer.
Saruman: He is the definition of the queer-coded villain. I mean his name is saurman of all colours and he literally transforms into a gay pride flag.
Tom Bombadil & Goldberry: They deserve to be grouped as one because they are the best representation of a queer platonic couple out there. Goals.
Rosie Cotton: Bi but doe sent really know it, but if she ever met Goldberry, she might then have her awakening.
last and not least we have Sauron himself, and anyone whose read the Silmarillion know exactly what his sexuality is. so go read it.
Anyway tell me your hcs if you have any, I would love to hear them.

Excerpt from: Changes in the Archipelago
“Not yet?” Snotlout asked.
“We haven’t had a closer look yet,” Astrid responded.
“Then why are we wasting time?” Snotlout asked.
“We’re not,” Hiccup said. “I wanted to round up everyone.”
“Right…”
Soon all of them were flying out to the ship.
“If is from Miklagard, we can totally take it,” Snotlout declared.
“No, we can’t,” Fishlegs objected.
“It would be foolhardy.”

Excerpt from: Lady Me’s Quandry
“Not Britain, nor the 20th or 21st Centuries,” she said to the TARDIS as she set a random course.
The TARDIS gave a sound as if she agreed with her. She then set the ship in motion.
It didn’t take long for them to arrive somewhere. “Let’s see,” Lady Me murmured as she switched on the Scanner.
Indeed, it wasn’t Britain, nor the 20th or 21st Centuries. “Faroe Islands, 19th Century,” she mused. It wasn’t very far off at all. She suspected that if she tried again, it would still be somewhere in Western Europe in the later part of the Second Millennium. Therefore she emerged from the ship into the dimly lit streets of Torshavn. Nothing looked to be out of the ordinary. ‘But then at this time I was already hiding out on the Street.’
Something soon happened.

Excerpt from: Spider Quinn
“Right…” Quinn considered. She also considered just quitting the Fashion Club and telling Sandi to leave. What Daria had said in Freemont about them solving crime together flashed through her mind. ‘Not yet, give her a chance.’ She breathed deeply, and pulled down the turtleneck, showing her, along with Stacy and Tiffany, the zit.
“Oh, I see,” Sandi said.
“So, I had to hide it,” Quinn said.
“Of course,” Sandi said.
“Quinn, I'm so happy you're still one of us,” Stacy said.
“Gosh, Stacy, what did you think?” Quinn asked.
“Really,” Tiffany added.
“Quinn's right, Stacy. Just because she was acting completely weird and not confiding in her dearest, most loyal friends is no reason to decide she'd finally given up her sad charade and revealed herself as a two-faced, little…” Sandi trailed off as Quinn gave an intense glare.
‘How long?’ Quinn wondered, again.
“Meeting ended,” Sandi said.
“6:57. The shortest yet,” Stacy responded.
Unknown to Quinn and the others, Daria had overheard Stacy saying ‘I'm so happy you're still one of us,’ as she had walked by. Therefore she called Jane about her suspicion.
“Come on, not even aliens would give the planet to the Fashion Club. You're getting paranoid,” Jane responded.
“I'm not talking about aliens. But there's something out there. Something stupid.”
“You get rattled too easily,” Jane responded, then changed her tone. “By the way, can you come over here right now? I'm really scared.”
“I see. And to what do I owe this mood swing?” Daria asked.
“It's Trent's song. You gotta listen and tell me if it's getting more cheerful.”
“Now who's paranoid?”
“Come on, I'll order a pizza. And don’t tell your mother where you’re going, I don’t want her getting all motherly.”
“Right away.”

Excerpt from: In the House of Tom Bombadil
“We heard news of you, and heard that you were wandering. We guessed that you’d come ere long down to the water: all paths lead that way, down to Withywindle. Old grey Willow-man, he’s a mighty singer; and it’s hard for little folk to escape his cunning mazes. But Tom had an errand there, that he dared not hinder.” He then sang a song of his errand and of how he had met Goldberry long ago.
Tom had fallen silent, but Frodo couldn’t resist asking one more question. “Tell us, Master, about the Willow-man. What is he? I have never heard of him before.”
“No, don’t!” Merry and Pippin said together.
“That is right,” Tom said. “Now is the time for resting. Some things are ill to hear while the world is in shadow. Sleep until the morning light, rest on the pillow!”

Audiobook Review: “Three Is Company”
(I should first point out that no, I didn’t do a recap of “A Shadow of the Past”; mostly because I had little to say except that the voice acting for Gandalf does a fabulous job of portraying the Ring as the horror movie plot it was always meant to be. Moving on—)
GUYS. GUYS I LOVE THIS AUDIOBOOK. YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. IT’S SO DANG FUNNY. I was really looking forward to the comedy of the “Frodo looking at himself in the mirror” bit and it BLEW MY EXPECTATIONS OUT OF THE FREAKIN’ WATER.
“[deep breath] Hoogh, I shall get myself a bit into training, too.” [Narration continues, and Frodo’s appraising hums and huffs can be heard in the background.]
Me, internally: “Oh my word, he’s making cute little noises. OH MY WORD. Why are they going into the extra effort for THIS scene, what the HECK.”
“He had not done any strenuous walking for a long time…” [Muted pat-pat can be heard in the background.]
Me, already wheezing: “WAS THAT FRODO PATTING HIS TUMMY??!”
“And the reflection—[grumble]—looked rather flabby, he thought.”[Narration pauses so we can hear perfectly well Frodo’s dissatisfied lip sputter.]
Me: *WHEEZING, ROARING, ROLLING ON THE FLOOR, DYING 🤣🤣🤣*
This is the best thing ever. No I am not taking criticism at this time. The image it conjures in your mind is almost intrusive. I’m not sure if I’m laughing because of the inherent humor of Tolkien pausing to describe—in glorious British understatement—the main character of this timeless epic grumbling at his own weight; or if I’m laughing from mortification and embarrassment because it literally feels like I hid in a closet and accidentally overheard a very private moment of somebody examining his own body when he thinks he’s alone. Gosh dang this audiobook is good.
I love the quiet voice that is given to the fox. That is all.
Honestly, Frodo’s younger-sounding voice is starting to grow on me! It definitely makes all the jokes funnier to hear them in this piping, almost shrill tone. “Have some pity on an old hobbit!” “Why didn’t I drive?!” “I don’t keep water in my pockets!”
Okay, I think I’ve come to my first real criticism of the audiobook: all of the singing portions so far have been painful to get through. 🤣 I know it’s not easy to sing in a “voice”, as it were, and Mr. Dragash might be a perfectly good singer in any other situation, but this segment here—with Frodo, Sam, and Pippin overlapping and all off-tempo and out of sync with each other—really emphasizes this one weakness of the audio drama. Maybe you could argue that it’s “immersion”, and that hobbits shouldn’t sound like trained singers, but I’ve never heard anyone complain about Billy Boyd’s haunting song in the Citadel of Minas Tirith, so I’m still calling it a con.
And now back to compliments because FRODO! SPEAKING!! ELVISH!!! 🤩🤩🤩

From that last post, here’s my little menagerie of animals, for those interested.
On the left is Rune. (Roo/Roo-berry/Booger buns, or, if he’s being a lil’ shit, Runepert D. Dinkle.) He’s an elkhound, he’s gonna be 2 in April, and he’s a trip tbh. Wants to make friends with every person that deigns to look in is direction, and WILL make sure that his displeasure is heard, if he isn’t allowed to do so. The only exception is if I see the person before he does, and say “Oh no, baby. They’re doing things and stuff, we can’t have friendship right now”
On the right is Kona. (Koko, Nanner, Coconut, Noot-Noot. If she’s in trouble, she gets the full name “KONA RHEE!”) She’s a German shepherd and Rottweiler cross, and she’s scared of literally everything. Loves beds, will start pointing if she hears the words “Do you want”, even if they’re not directed at her. She also enjoys splooting in front of you, while giving you a judge-y stare that will make you regret All of your life decisions. She turned 5 in October.
In the middle is Pippin. (Pip/Peep/Pipsqueak. If he’s in trouble it’s Pippin Squeakers. Sometimes he’s snooty, and will answer only to his Name of Distinction: ‘Ah, Pippin Squeakers, the Sweetest and Most Benevolent, Babiest of All Boys’…and then he’ll deign to grace you with his presence). He’s our old man who turned 9 in November. He hoards balls to compensate his own having been chopped off, and can say “Mama”, “Yeah”, “No”, and “I dunno”. Also screams when slighted.
Tumblr media
Next are the birds. The first one, enjoying his mashed potatoes, is Wynnie! (Woodle-noodle/Woopie-wooper/Wynnie-woo) He’s a pied cockatiel, and he’s 6 years old. The first song he ever learned was the Chocobo song from final fantasy. He enjoys calling Pip over to the cage at all hours of the day and night, mimicking dog cries/barks/growls, and having his cheeks scratched. Also says “What the fuuuuuuuck?” At almost scarily apt moments.
Tumblr media
The next one is actually my brother’s bird, but he’s at our house…probably all but 1 week per month? His name is Rocky (Ki-bird/Chonker) He’s only a year and a half, and he’s a silver-pied cockatiel. He likes to say “Oh, good boy?”, plays peekaboo, and is currently learning the o.ld sp.ice whistle. He also uh. Has exorcisms from time to time. It’s actually really funny. When you enter the house, you have .2 seconds to do a specific whistle pattern at him so he knows you’re chill, or he’ll start going off like a fire alarm.

Hi! I liked Schmicago more cuz it also had a lot of my fav musicals referenced and I was more familiar with it like Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar and Pippin too. I also think the cast is good and had a lot of theater actors unlike most things and the songs all fit or made sense like a musical. I'm sad it got cancelled! I have not been keeping up with musicals as much but did see the casting of the other Gatsby I think and was wondering what you thought. Other than that, I've only seen snippets from new musicals so I have no idea, including the Jeremy one. Maybe I will go back into it at some point. I feel the same way about reading honestly and I hope to start again soon. I've just been busy for the last few months lol. Unfortunately I don't really have recommendations for anything cuz I've been focusing on Taylor instead.
So I was talking about the twenty one pilots concert haha but I did think about getting tickets to his tour cuz seeing Maisie would be a plus. I was surprised she was an opener for him. I really enjoyed the album which has a very 80s sound. I really enjoyed his song Found Heaven..its one of my favorite songs of the year so far!
I've only listened to the whole album with the anthology part like 3 times so far but my first impressions were that I really liked it! Like in the first few songs I was like whoa this isn't what I expected but then I also didn't know what to expect really. I had a hard time keeping up with lyrics and felt the first few songs felt like a lot for some reason. I also think my first impressions have changed a little already the more I listen to it and cuz I couldn't remember all the songs at that point. I was very surprised about the double album! There's always theories about a double album and it didn't make sense cuz we already knew about the bonus tracks. I hadn't even started the album at that point lol and couldn't play it more than once cuz it got late. But my favorites from the first 16 are the title track, although my prediction about it was off, Who's afraid of little old me, Guilty as Sin, and Fresh out the Slammer, which I thought would be one of my least favorites, but I love the way it sounds, and Down Bad. I also like I can do it with a broken heart and Fortnight a lot more cuz of the video. The anthology I expected it to be more like Folklore and it was in sound with somewhat more abstract lyrics. However I also thought it might be telling connected stories like Folklore with all the names which threw me off but I get it now. I was way off with that. My favorites on are I Hate it Here, How Did it End, The Prophecy and the Black Dog. So I predicted the Black Dog was gonna be one of my favorites, so I guess I was kinda right, except it wasn't what I thought it would be..like I don't think it was about depression the way I thought it would be. I also predicted there was something different to the bonus tracks having the that felt so different than other tracks and it was actually part of a different album! The Manuscript is one that I thought I would like but I had a really hard time understanding the song at first so I was disappointed. It's one that I like the message of the song more than the actual song. I made the mistake of reading other people's opinions and analysis which sometimes helps, like with that song, but sometimes it doesn't and I would want my own interpretations first. I also didn't have a lot of stand out absolute favorite songs on either part but I'm still getting used to it. It was more that I liked it all but some songs blended together too. I'm still not sure how the albums go together and I think it would be cool to hear her talk about how it all fits together. However my sister said she loved the second part a lot more and it had a lot of good lyrics. The album also didn't feel like any of her other albums to me either but I think I liked it more than I liked Midnights when I first heard that but also might have to grow on me too. I guess it's like rep and Folklore in a way but different than I thought it would be. It's a really honest album and she also plays more into a character on some songs. But Daddy I love him is an example and was also one that stuck out to me cuz it was kinda different than anything else on the album but I was so confused at first. I will keep you updated if I have new favorites or I notice other lyrics
Also I had no idea you were that sick and had Covid! I hope you recover and get plenty of rest cuz that sounds so awful! I hope the musicals are helping and you're enjoying the album. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with all of my favorite musicals already like Les Mis, Sweeney Todd, Wicked, Newsies, and West Side Story, but I will recommend Rent again which Aaron Tveit has sang songs from lol. I'm sorry if I forgot anything but I hope you feel better and have a good week!
hello!! happy friday 🤍 i am starting to feel a lot better (tested negative for covid yesterday, but still coughing a bit — it'll take me a while to get over it as it takes me a while to get over anything with my victorian child immune system/asthma/etc)! are you doing anything fun this weekend?
i am a terrible theatre person, and admittedly just watched sweeney todd yesterday. i watched the movie a few summers ago, but didn't really care for it/retain much, and so i finally sat down and watched a bootleg of it last night! very fun to see in hindsight, the schmicago references (although i did pick up on a fair amount of them). wondering if i should watch cabaret too — and then backtrack and watch brigadoon and then do a schmicadoon / schmicago rewatch to see how many more references i can spot! i have also never seen jesus christ superstar, or hair. oops? i wonder what season 3 could've been; i was talking to one of my best friends about it and i was like oh les schmiserables or into the schwoods would've been cute!
i'm SO excited for art gatsby; i was reading the interview with ben levi ross about how they've intentionally made nick gay, and i'm really really intrigued by it. and just everything about it. the casting, the creative team. i cannot wait to hear about it. i think i'm going to do a gatsby reread soon — i've been talking about doing it for ages, and all of this gatsby news has me itching to reread! i was reading the gatsby reviews last night and well... i am not surprised by them!
ooh! i'm glad you got tickets to 21p! my bad for misreading 🤍 i still haven't listened to conan, but i will soon!! i need to focus on learning the music for the lizzy mcalpine, since her concert is in like two weeks and i ... have only listened to the album once! oops!
did you see that she's rehearsing a TTPD set? i'm shocked, but also shouldn't be. i wonder if she'll cut songs out, what she'll add — do you have any predictions? i'm thinking i can do it with a broken heart, but that might be too meta for the eras tour? but also i think but daddy i love him, guilty as sin, fortnight, could be fun on stage. and who's afraid of little old me — or clara bow? but maybe that's too similar thematically to some of the other songs she has right now. hmm! but also all this and no debut set :(((((((
i have listened to aaron tveit sing one song glory (on his album) and i love his cover! i need to sit down and watch rent one of these days, but did laugh at you pointing out that aaron has been in rent because if something will get me to do anything ... it is that man. unfortunately. and i have been meaning to rewatch newsies (my beloved) 🤍 i think i am going to rewatch les mis soonnnnn and then go from there!

Repeated beeping from the kitchen signaled the chicken was done. Stede took the pan off the stove and added the contents in with the rest of the cut vegetables. As he was mixing the last of the chicken, noodles, and veggies together, there was a knock at the door.
Greeting Sam felt easier each time Stede had him over, especially when he brought a new bottle of wine with each visit. As they corked the bottle and Stede went back to fussing over dinner (mixing and mixing and staring daggers at the bowl,) Sam made his way wrap a single arm around Stede’s waist at the stove. A full glass of red wine dangled in the other hand as Sam leaned in to smell.
“Smells good,” and with a small squeeze on Stede’s hip, but his attempt at conversation was met with more angry tossing of the pasta salad, “Stede? I can hear you thinking.”
It wasn’t his fault; he couldn’t help the pinch in his brow as he focused on mixing in the sauce. The events of the day still rattled around in his head, swarming and yelling and—
“Stede,” Sam put a hand on top of Stede’s, gripping one of the forks like it would solve his problems, “you okay?”
As he answered, he plated their food, “I had a spat with Alma’s coach this morning and,” he sighed as he closed his eyes, resting his forehead against the cabinet door in front of him, “she saw the whole thing. She’s pissed at me right now.”
Sam brought a gentle hand to Stede’s shoulder, “I’m sure you had your reasons,” he sipped his wine before he continued, “and what about the coach? You know how I feel about him—”
“That’s the thing,” Stede grabbed his plate and glass, and Sam followed him into the living room, “today was the first practice I saw and he just…he was brutal.”
“I knew it,” Sam sighed, “I knew he was bad news.”
“I never suspected it! They’re kids, Sam!” Stede mindlessly turned the TV on as the movie started.
And in most instances, when the first notes played in The Fellowship of the Ring, Stede let the rest of the world fade away. He’d allow himself to be sucked into the world of Tolkein’s work, let the prologue pull him into Middle-earth.
But over the prologue, Stede kept talking. He let his anger get the better of him, let his feelings of hope and fury that he had for Ed mix together like the pasta he made for dinner. Tossed together in a mixing bowl of pesto sauce and rage.
Stede hadn’t realized Sam muted the movie in the middle of it all. It wasn’t until his phone rang that he realized how long he had been complaining, as Merry and Pippin were mutedly singing drinking songs atop the tavern’s table, Frodo dancing around them. He excused himself (to Sam’s protest,) but the fear of an unexpected call with both his kids out of the house rang the alarms.
“She—” Stede put a hand to his forehead in frustration, “no, I did not say she could.” He turned and frowned at Sam, who was watching from the couch as Stede paced by the kitchen, “No, Mary and Doug took Louis to an art expo this weekend. She,” he hesitated, “just drop her off here and I’ll deal with it. I’m sorry, Olu— yeah,” he sighed, “see you soon.”
As he returned to the couch, the frown lines grew deeper on his face, “I know we said tonight was for us, but,” a frustrated sigh blew out of Stede as he sat, “Alma was spending the night at Olu and Jim’s. She and Maya decided to watch Saw without anyone’s permission, and now she’s too scared to sleep over there. Olu is dropping her off now.”
When Stede turned to look at Sam, he didn’t expect to see the disappointment so clear on his face. In comfort, he reached out and took Sam’s hand in his, “We can still have our date night,” he promised, “she’ll just be up in her room and we can enjoy each other’s company.”

Here’s my pick for the best musical comedy of all time
Tumblr media
If I had to pick my favorite musical, it would be a very tough choice. I love “Seesaw” and “1776” and “Pippin” and “Merrily We Roll Along.” But if I had to choose what I consider to be the best musical ever written, it would have to be “Gypsy.” I was fortunate enough to see a production this week. “Gypsy” was created in 1959 by roughly the same team who had created “West Side Story” on Broadway two years earlier, except that master songwriter Jule Style replaced Leonard Bernstein as composer. Stephen Sondheim again wrote the lyrics; Arthur Laurents wrote the book and Jerome Robbins directed. The musical is the fictionalized life story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous burlesque star. But since this was to be a vehicle for the 51-year-old Ethel Merman, the central character is Gypsy Rose Lee’s mother, Rose, probably the greatest stage mother of all time. The show takes us on a ride with Mama Rose, her two children, June and Louise, and her would-be husband Herbie, from the fringes of vaudeville in the 1920s to center stage at Minsky’s burlesque in the 1930s. I think that if I were asked to introduce anyone to musical theater, I would start with “Gypsy,” because I think it is the perfect combination of book and music. The problem many people have with musicals is that the book is often simply a device to connect songs. That’s not the case with “Gypsy,” where the book is so strong it could actually stand on its own as a straight play without any songs and be entertaining. There are few musicals (notably “1776”) that can claim that. The other thing that “Gypsy” has going for it is that it has quite simply the best overture of any Broadway musical. Orchestrator Sid Ramin, who also worked on “West Side Story” (with Irwin Kostal), took Jule Styne’s songs and created a masterpiece. Overtures traditionally were simply music to get people to sit down and shut up before the curtain went up. But this overture is a work of art. It perfectly creates the mood of the show to come and generates excitement and anticipation of a great night in the theater. The overture begins with a cymbal crash and four quarter notes (A-D-A-E) played by the trumpets. Those four notes correspond to the words “I Have A Dream” that Rose sings at the beginning and end of the show (four years before Martin Luther King made those words immortal). In fact, the entire show is propelled by Rose’s dreams. The show opens with an example Rose’s bullying tactics as she works to fulfill her dream, this time to get her daughters into Uncle Jocko’s Kiddie Show. But the second song of the show is the traditional “I Want” song where the protagonist sings about her goals in life. Here, in the hands of composer Jule Styne with Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics, we learn what makes Mama Rose tick. The song is “Some People” (you can hear Ethel Merman sing it at https://youtu.be/U_r5SizITAE). The scene is Rose’s father’s house where she is trying to get him to give her $88 so she can put together an act to take on the road. She begins singing:
Some people can get a thrill Knitting sweaters and sitting still— That's okay for some people Who don't know they're alive
Some people can thrive and bloom Living life in a living room That's perfect for some people Of one hundred and five!
But I at least gotta try When I think of All the sights that I gotta see yet All the places I gotta play All the things that I gotta be yet Come on, Poppa, whaddaya say?
Some people can be content Playing bingo and paying rent— That's peachy for some people For some Hum-Drum People to be But some people ain't me!
Like many extraordinary people, Rose can think of nothing worse than being ordinary. She has a dream, and now she uses the first four notes of the overture to sing about it:
I had a dream A wonderful dream, Poppa All about June and the Orpheum circuit— Gimme a chance and I know I can work it
I had a dream Just as real as can be, Poppa There I was in Mr. Orpheum's office And he was saying to me:
"Rose! Get yourself some new orchestrations New routines and red velvet curtains Get a feathered hat for the Baby Photographs in front of the theatre Get an agent—and in jig time You'll be being booked in the big time!"
Oh, what a dream A wonderful dream, Poppa And all that I need Is eighty-eight bucks, Poppa That's what he said, Poppa Only eighty-eight bucks, Poppa
Unfortunately, her father has heard this song before and he’s having none of it. He wants her to get a job and settle down in Seattle. So he tells her:
You ain't gettin' eighty-eight cents from me, Rose! (interesting fact: this line was voiced by Stephen Sondheim on the original cast album)
Rose replies:
Then I'll get it someplace else—but I'll get it and get my kids out!
Rose is determined to fulfill her dreams. And she’s going to do that by any means necessary:
Goodbye To blueberry pie! Good riddance to all the socials I had to go to All the lodges I had to play All the Shriners I said hello to— Hey, L.A., I'm coming your way!
Some people sit on their butts Got the dream—yeah, but not the guts! That's living for some people For some Hum-Drum People, I suppose Well, they can stay and rot— But not Rose!
And with that, Rose, her girls, and the show, hit the road. From then on, it’s a classic show business tale. Although the story was supposedly based on Gypsy Rose Lee’s autobiography, Gypsy apparently told Arthur Laurents to change anything he wanted for the sake of a good show. That’s why the full name of the show is “Gypsy—A Musical Fable.”
I make it a point to see “Gypsy” at least once a decade, and I listen to the score regularly. I wasn’t fortunate enough to see Ethel Merman as Mama Rose. (My parents weren’t likely to take a six-year-old to a show about a stripper.) But I saw the first Broadway revival in 1974 with Angela Lansbury, and several other productions since. The show is so strong that I can honestly say I’ve never seen a bad production. If you’ve never seen it, seek it out. If you have seen it, take others. And don’t be afraid to take children. There are lots of children in the show for heaven’s sake! Children need to see the power of the words “I Have a Dream.”

I'm back with more Time Travel AUs because my brain won't stop having silly little ideas. There are some I really would like to read, others are just silly or self-indulgent.
Part One
After Merry and Pippin flee into Fangorn Forest from the Uruk-Hai they come across a couple in the woods. One of the two people is definitely an elf - taller than any other they had seen before - while the other looks not even closely like anything they had ever seen before. Unsure if it would be wise to approach the couple the two Hobbits have a little argument. In the end they agree on not going any closer and continue on their way. When they meet Treebeard not much later they tell him of their strange sighting. The ent then becomes very quiet and refuses to give them an answer. They never learn who exactly they saw.
Young Fëanor and Fingolfin stumble into Rivendell one fateful midsummer night while the entire household is in the hall of fire listening to songs and enjoying the evening. The two newcomers try to find their way around the valley, nearly fall off one of the definitely not childproof bridges while trying their best not to yell at eachother in the meantime. Eventually they make their way to the open doors of the Hall of Fire and enter it in the exact moment that one of the bards sings about Fingolfins fight against Morgoth and his heroic death - in Quenya for whatever reason - and while Fingolfin goes through several states of shock while Fëanor is just like: I knew Melkor was evil! Of ourse all hell breaks loose once the people of Rivendell realise who just crashed their party.
When Thorin and Co travel through Mirkwood there is one instance where Bilbo believes to sees a rider on a horse between the shadows under the trees. Too surprised to say anything Bilbo can do nothing but stare and when the rider - looking nothing like any men, elf or dwarf Bilbo has ever seen - looks directly at him, there is something like a higher presence feeling for him. "Who are you, little fellow? Not a creature of darkness, not an animal but not a child of the One either..." he hears an alien voice speak in his head but before Bilbo can answer the figure vanishes and he finds himself back amongst the dwarves who tell him that he just passed out. He forgets to about this instance but many years later when he arrives in Valinor and meets Oromë for the first time, both of them cannot help but stare at eachother in wonder and recognition.
When the gray company, Legolas and Gimli come out the path of the dead they find themselves not in Gondor but in front of the gates of Gondolin. Turgon is both very pleased to meet his great-great-grandchildren and very much concerned about everything else regarding the situation. Maeglin is happy to have found a new smithing buddy in Gimli and Tuor's excited to meet other Edain. Aragorn meanwhile is having a mental breakdown because he was supposed to go saving the people of Gondor and now he somehow ended up in Gondolin.
During his wanderings Túrin comes upon a small peaceful land, full of small happy people who invite him for dinner and a good night's sleep. He finds a good friend in a young woman called Belladonna, who is one of the three daughters of his host and is even allowed to watch her young son from time to time. But once he gets comfortable enough that he considers staying (given that he hasn't caused a death in like two months) he suddenly finds himself in the forest he wandered before, unable to find a way back.
The day Boromir dies he opens his eyes once again but finds staring at a sunny sky in the open and not the leaves of the forest he died in. He just lies there as in trance until someone leans over him and asks "Atanalcar are you okay?" With that he at once realises that he has somehow ended up as the second son of King Elros of Númenor and that the man leaning over him with a worried expression is most likely one of his (er Atanalcar's?) brothers. Manwendil on the other hand is convinced that the damage his brother took when he fell of his horse did something to his memory. Bonus points if Boromir and Atanalcar are somehow sharing the same body and Atanalcar has to deal with Boromir getting overly excited about anything Numenorean while trying not to have a mental breakdown over the fact that their kingdom somehow doesn't exist anymore, like 'Boromir, what was that about s great flood?!'
Isildur is in the Middle of the the last fight against Sauron when he is suddenly transported into the third age and stuck... Inside of a tree? He is very confused for a moment especially when he hears silly singing and the practically catapulted out of the tree again. Turns out he landed in the old forest during the same time the Hobbits are there. This has two consequences 1) Frodo and co have a new traveling companion and 2) Isildur adopted a bunch of tiny adult men and feels like this is his chance to destroy the enemies weapon. Bonus points for him meeting literally everyone.
