So uh, it's @taznovembercelebration time yet again! I wanted to at least get one out so when i pulled Celebrity AU, i had a pretty perfect opening (because the au that lives in mine and Hali's head is constantly rotating like a chicken in my mind)

“So that neighbor guy.” Lup states, nary a preamble in the same square mile. She’s perched on the counter, supervising while Taako scrambles a half-dozen eggs. It’s entirely too early or perhaps too late for food, guess it just depends on your perspective. But, far be it from either of them to ever ask for someone else’s perspective.

“He’s certainly a neighbor,” Taako says. He’s not willing to take whatever bait it is that Lup’s dangling. He pokes at the eggs with a spatula and sprinkles a hefty pinch of salt on top, mixing as he goes. 

“He was remarkably kind, given how obnoxious the party was. And his pajamas were awfully cute.” 

Taako fakes a gasp. “Lup, I thought you’re with a very dashing Apple store employee! How quickly your eyes wander.” He hasn’t thought about whatshisname (Kravitz Queen in apartment 22F) since the party he so rudely intruded on. And then fell asleep at. Right at Taako’s own kitchen table. 

She groans and rolls her eyes. “Taako, you’re being purposefully obtuse.” 

“I’ve been told I’m quite acutie.” 

“Awful, I want a new brother.” 

“Sorry, no returns,” he says gleefully. He shuts the burner off and grabs two plates from the cupboard, evenly distributing the eggs across them. “Like. I dunno, Lup, what do you want me to say? He’s cute, sure, but I thought I wasn’t supposed to be pursuing new relationships right now.” That’s what all the doctors at Hollybrook suggested, anyway. He’d rolled his eyes when he first heard that, but as the months have progressed, it’s been a nice break. 

“I’m not saying you need to get married or anything, I’m just saying he’s cute and nice and a musician. Simply stating facts,” she says around a bite of scrambled eggs. “I’m supposed to be on set today, the director apparently has a bold new vision and needs some more cash to make it happen. You wanna come?”

He mulls it over for a moment. “Anyone cool? Last one you produced had that shitbag Jerre whatshisnuts and he was so smarmy at the premiere and I think if I ever saw him again I’d deck him.” 

“No Mr. Whatshisnuts, scout’s honor,” Lup says, giving him a faux-serious two-fingered salute. 

Taako snorts and rolls his eyes. “We were never scouts, goofus. But, nah. I’m going to sit this one out. Probably do some journaling and go to bed.” 

“Okay, call me if you need me. I’ll be back this afternoon, probably. Maybe we can get dinner tonight?” 

He nods. “Sounds good, be safe. Love you.”

“Love you!”

“—And rather than scripting this out, we feel that this sequence is going to be shown best through a kind of dream ballet scene that’ll last for about seven minutes,” The director excitedly explains to Lup. She’s trying hard to focus, she really is, but her phone seems intent on boring a hole through her leg. She sneaks a quick glance to see that she’s missed a fourth call from Lucretia. That’s never good.

“Hey, Todd, love this idea you’ve got going on. My publicist is like, blowing up my phone so let’s regroup in half an hour, okay? Okay!” She says as she extricates herself from the conversation. 

“Luce, what’s up?” Lup asks, just managing to catch this fifth call. 

“I thought Taako was off Twitter for now,” Lucretia says, sounding exasperated. 

“Uh. Well he was while he was in Hollybrook but you said it’d be cool for him to reconnect with the fans now.” 

“Remind me not to have any more stupid ideas.”

“Is it bad?” Lup hasn’t been on the damn app since the last premiere. She usually lets Lucretia handle her social media except for her Letterboxd. 

“Not bad just…thirsty?” 

Lup does her best not to laugh. Well. She makes some attempt to not laugh. “Thirsty?”

Lucretia sighs. “It started off fine, just him tweeting about this musician, but a few fan accounts started stirring the pot and. Well. I guess he’s ‘down horrendously for that kravitz guy’ as @taacocat69420 so eloquently put it.” 

“God he’s a mess,” she says fondly. “I think it’ll be fine though. Kravitz is cool. Hope this gets him some extra streams or something.”

Kravitz stirs at eleven. He’s a little surprised that his alarm never went off, though a quick glance at his lockscreen lends some light to why. His notifications are atrocious. Good atrocious, it just looks like the whole internet threw up in them maybe. When he finally traces the source of why, he starts to get dressed. Best not to make another pajama clad impression.

Only under a read more cuz it's a little embarrassing but like... I've been reflecting and thinking a lot recently and like. I do genuinely think, to some extent, the funny clock is the love of my life. And maybe not in like a way that "matters" in the grand scheme of things in regards to my romantic relationships, but me Loving him has impacted my life so much that it cannot be overstated

(I've talked about some other stuff in this vague area on my objectum blog recently, and a lot of it is way too personal or Out There for main I think, so I'll refrain from going more in depth)

I know it may sound weird but like. I dunno. It's felt like there's a connection there to a degree. I know me loving him is no secret, I am VERY open about how much I love this funny clock, but I don't think I am especially loud about how I do perceive my relationship with him as something genuine; I do, on some level, consider him to be my romantic partner

I have... A lot going on in my brain that likely contributes to this, and that's not even getting into my objectum-ness, but I know that, realistically, this love I have for him is not reciprocated, but even knowing that doesn't change my feelings or their intensity.

I guess what I'm getting at is like... I think if it isn't obvious, I consider my selfship with Clockboy to be "real", as in, the actual rl clock tower is my silly boyfriend/husband. I know it's not like, realistic, but I tend to ignore that aspect a lot when I'm thinking about him, making art about him, or visiting him in-person. To an outside perspective it probably seems really odd and I get that, but I think what I'm hoping will come from me sharing this is that the people who aren't OS/OR will extend some grace on like... Not freaking out at me over my feelings, or doing unnecessary rude shit to me over it (like telling me "he doesn't love me" or calling my crazy, stuff like that I guess)

I've had issues in the past when talking about my relationship with my old car and I miss being open about such an important part of my identity and how I see the world and the objects in it... Realistically, not much will change in how i talk about Clockboy here, but I guess I just wanna like, tap the sign saying like "hey this is me saying these things genuinely"

Hihii, i sae ur post on like trauma and ‘policing’ in drs, and I just wanted to add a lil something as someone who was actually traumatised by a dr (sorry for the ask, social anxiety sucks 🧍‍♂️) (also sorry if i sound kinda rude/angry in this, unsurprisingly im a little emotional abt it 😇 no pressure in reading it or anything, just thought id add my lil thingy to this whole. thing i dunno 😚)

For one, I think it’s kinda stupid how people have started to think that suggestions are policing. Like, I get if someone comes up to you and goes ‘uhm, actually, u cant do that in ur dr bc i said so’ then yeah lol that’s definitely policing. But, if someone’s giving you a genuine suggestion in goodwill, then it’s in no way policing? Like, sure, you might not like it, but you don’t have to listen to it??

Secondly, completely agreed with the trauma thing. I feel like people just get mad that they can’t do anything and everything in their drs without consequences, like its some magical wonder world or sumn. I’m sure there’s probably some kind of reality or way to get around it, or something, but imo it’s not worth using yourself as an experiment over. This is literal trauma we’re talking about. Like, serious mental problems that will seriously haunt you quite possibly for the rest of your life. There’s also some level of like romanticism of trauma that could def play into it, but I don’t really know enough about that stuff to add it all in 🧍‍♂️

Last thing, I think it’s pretty stupid how people expect us to just. Not say anything about it. Like, again, coming from someone who got literal harmful trauma in their dr, you just expect us to sit back and watch as other people do the same thing?? Personally, i literally got said trauma because I was a stupid, misinformed kid who didn’t know what trauma really was. People can’t expect us to just be happy with watching people traumatise themselves??? I’m never gonna try and force someone not to make that decision ofc, because it’s their life at the end of the day and if they’re gonna make that decision, it’s on them. But still, it’s something that imo everyone should at least brush over at some point (not to mention that it’s actually a sort of interesting thinking point when it comes to consciousness between drs and all that, imo.)

Anyways, sorry for the little rant <3 I just wanted to say tysm for actually covering this on here, seriously. It means a lot to me and it’s a really good thing to educate people on this and help keep people safe from it. Anyone accusing you of policing is ridiculous and has no idea what they’re talking about.

Name of muse(s): Hibiya and Hibiko. I've had one other muse that didn't last long, I just wanted an excuse to talk about my views and opinions on music lmao. An outlet to express that to a degree, but I just didn't have anything else I wanted to say, no overarching theme or anything.

Experience in RP: Started out the classic way of rp'ing via texts with a friend, where it was like [ "Stop doing that" *laughs* ] as Izaya from Durarara. Not terribly long after I moved to tumblr cause I was already always on it on my personal account and heavy in the durarara community in 2012, 2013, cause I wanted to write as Hibiya. And that was a blast because it started showing on Adult Swim so the anime got more popular and there were just a lot of people and alters to write with.

Stopped and started a few times, but I always wrote Hibiya publically and no one else. I think I barely wrote in 2016 cause the rp side of the fandom was DEAD and I didn't really venture out to find new partners. I had also moved countries so like, wasn't thinking about writing often. Completely stopped thinking about it in 2017 and was writing songs instead. Until after I graduated college and was working fulltime, and after all the lockdowns stopped (Toronto had multiple), I needed a new creative outlet I could work on while not home and kept thinking about Hibiya and Delic and having ideas I wanted to explore. And was very lucky to find my email and password! So now I'm like, I can't imagine leaving tumblr to write somewhere else. Privately I dunno, it's so boring.

Best experiences: It's so nice to have partners that equally gush over one another's muses and relationships, sharing ideas and potential threads and even just being like "lmao if this happened, it'd be over" / "I can't stop thinking about x."

Plus I mean to be honest, it's so, so exciting and nice to hear people excited to write with me and ask about my muses, having genuine curiosity. Asking questions I've never thought of and pushing them to be more developed and fleshed out. I love posting a reply or answering a meme and immediately getting pinged on discord of someone panicking and talking to me about it.

Pet peeves / dealbreakers: Too much ooc is the main reason I end up unfollowing people. Which like, listen, it's not like I outright say, I don't care about you. But if it's too much, even though I like you and your muses and want to write, I'm gonna mute your tag. I'd much rather someone repeatedly be like "I'll be on twitter if you care" or whatever passive-aggressive thing, than have a bunch of posts on my roleplay account that are nothing. Let me ignore it if I want to.

I've complained to the point of adding it to my rules, but I hate mains. And I honestly more and more feel like I'm making the right call in that it's very mean and you shouldn't do it. I understand feeling more drawn to some muns/muses than others, but when a mun is repeatedly answering someone's stuff immediately when you've been waiting for a reply for a month. Yeah, it's a little dog shit. There needs to be an effort to balance it out between partners.

A COUPLE ACTUAL PETTY PET PEEVES. That like, I've rewritten this a bunch of times cause I don't want to be dumb and rude even though it makes me want to be very that. I hate when muns make their muses short and are just weird about it. Like, it's obviously written from the perspective of a person that is average height, who sometimes feels short, so assumes someone shorter than them always feels short. And it's like no one thinks about their height that much, stop it. But this is absolutely me, a person who is the height of all those short muses, being like bruh stop being weird. I also hate when there is an unrealistic weight put to muses. Because it's something most people ignore, so just skip it if you're gonna be dumb about it. If you feel the need to be like, my 5'6" muse 90 pounds, think about how dysfunctional that makes a person. It's beyond the realm of "my muse is skinny." But!! Again! I know this is just me being like "your fictional character is unrealistic." People like to make their muses taller than Shaq and as buff of as wrestler, but also be like "it's natural, they would never track their calories/protein intake."

Muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ): Of course it depends. Hibiya is fun because he's awful at being fluffy, so it's great putting him in those positions where I am also so horribly uncomfortable for him. He's always angsty. It gets a little tiring. Smut is all me though, I just get lost in thinking of the details and then I forget to write any of it and it takes forever. Practice though and I know it'll be more fun. There are at least muses now that Hibi wants to be gross with finally.

Hibiko however, is like, always bordering on fluffy, to the point that she really fights angst. Which in itself is fun because that's where most of her development comes from. Surprisingly, smut will be/is really fun for Hibiko because her walls are down, which isn't the case any other time. She also doesn't have as many preconceptions as Hibiya when it comes to sex, so it's more freeing and open for me to write.

Plot or memes: Memes are more freeing. They can be long winded ideas or just a paragraph, so that's fun. But when it comes to the long run, I need to talk about plots to some extent so we're not running aimlessly.

Long or short replies: Long. Mid, really, but I'd rather it be longer than shorter. I've learned I have a hard time tapping into what my muse is going through if I'm not seeing that in return. But short ones are a very welcomed break when they come along. It's nice to easily poop out a reply without being like oh fuck okay what happens first.

Best time to write: When I'm alone in the morning before anyone wakes up (which isn't the morning but pretend it is). I like sitting in silence and enjoying the nothing going on so I can focus. I like to watch movies by myself, and it'll take twice as long because I'll pause it to write while inspired, and watch another five minutes before pausing to write again. The way god intended, really.

Are you like your muse(s): Kinda. I relate to Hibiya more. I'm more aloof than I think I am and can be a little insensitive towards other people's feelings and my words. Emotions are not my strong suit lmao.

this is by no means trying to be a rant post but i just needed a different perspective on this issue so to speak. i got into an “argument” (one sided tbh LOL) with an ashleon shipper (which…. is whatever… ig…) and they were saying that ashleon is canon in re4 remake and i was like how ???? they were completely mischaracterizing aeon too. so im just really confused bc before i became a hardcore re fan and was an outsider so to speak, i just assumed that leon and ada were an “item” bc thats how they have always been portrayed. and then i go on here and retwt (eww) and ppl do not think that AT ALL. ppl think ur crazy for thinking aeon is a canon thing. i just feel like im missing a puzzle piece all the time bc its like … i thought it was pretty obvious? and its so hard to hear the other side on these conversations bc they are so rude and judgmental and dont want to have a civil conversation and hear the other side. so i just wanted to get ur perspective on this issue and why ppl might not automatically think aeon is a thing bc i really like ur takes on aeon as a whole! this also isnt trying to be negative or a shitpost, i just want to hear a different positive and ig “constructive” perspective on this!

typically when it comes to promos and stuff, aeon tends to be pushed together though (like from capcom) so that's always been kinda cute and nice. (i love seeing all the teppen art of aeon, and random capcom promos of aeon together)

i just feel like because the ship is "not conventional" it gets a lot of backlash, particularly because the female character doesn't adhere to social norms and gender roles. and typically because aeon falls into this category, people are quick to tear down ada because of it

Well, it's a good thing I tried to get ahead earlier in the week because it took this long for me to get to the last part.

Stream-of-consciousness thoughts for TriMax Vol. 4, Chapters 6-7 below.

Chapter 6: The Bystanders

Falling ships and giant worms. Looks like we're off to a great start here.

Ok, I really hope we get a worms-eye view of The Fall in Stampede. I'm not gonna hold my breath given that they've kinda already covered it and they just don't have a ton of episodes to work with, but I love love love the idea that we get this backstory from the perspective of the planet's native, sentient, and very inhuman inhabitants.

You know what, Zazie? I dunno what this face is supposed to be, either.

Ah, the Japanese inclination to apologize for everything.

Oh, gods. Nightow's gonna intersperse this backstory with the boys fighting, isn't he? *SIGH* I wouldn't normally complain, but Nightow's fights are, far more often than not, hard enough to follow to begin with.

For as twisted as his body is, Hoppered's hands look very normal. I don't know what I was expecting.

Ohhh, Hoppered's beef is about July. Shoot, I saw someone make a comment about one of the cops in Stampede during July, and now that makes sense. Like, at the very least, that cop's line was a callback to this scene.

Ah, the innate trouble with translating the two-syllable Japanese "待って" (ma'tay) to the monosyllabic English word "wait." Personally, I would have gone with "W-- Wait!" but I'm not the one doing translations here.

Vash is denying it because he can't imagine wanting to destroy a city, but Hoppered is right; he just doesn't know.

Eyyyy, old-school Hoppered! Looks like he was a bit of an odd one even before he joined up with the Gung-Ho Guns.

Ah, there's that term "independent." But the way Zazie's presenting it is making me think about it in whole new ways. Stampede brought it up in a way that made me think of them as having a freedom other Plants don't, but this interpretation has me thinking of the innate alone-ness of both Vash and Knives, what that means to them, how they deal with it and how they make it a part of their being. Knives revels in it and lets it feed his sense of superiority (much to Legato's dismay, I'm sure). Meanwhile, Vash... I wouldn't say he resents it, but he finds it very lonely, and it doesn't make him feel superior so much as it makes him feel very Other.

And here's the first place we have it straight-up said that they're Plants.

Ah, so the Bystanders referred to in this chapter title are Vash and Knives. I thought it might end up being the worms. But hey, no reason the title can't work both ways.

And then ANGEL ARM?!?! Ohhhh, Zazie's story's being interwoven with Hoppered's. This is July. How was I supposed to know that without metagame knowledge??

Ok, this panel is great, 'cause it was only a few pages back that Zazie noted they have the innate ability to sense others' emotions. It just adds a level of intimidation on the whole thing.

Hahahaha, Midvalley. I guess I shouldn't laugh at his suffering, but he tried to kill Wolfwood, so eh.

There's something innately ridiculous with him being like, "Time to pull out the BIG GUNS!!!" and then immediately being like, "Aw, man! My instrument's busted or something...."

"Sinner" is generally the word Knives uses for humans in this series. I wonder, though, if it might be being used to apply to Vash here.

Ohhh, babygirl looks soooo troubled. And then looking up and seeing the hole in the moon.... That's not gonna improve his mood.

Ah. He remembers. And... you know... in this shot, he looks amazingly like Knives.

Heh. Hoppered just... sort of peering over him. Like he's checking on his wellbeing. It's the opposite, but the casualness of it is deceptively calm.

I'm... honestly not quite sure what Hoppered did to silence Vash here. Slap him, I guess?

Ooooof. Vash just straight up embraces the killing urge inside him. He looks it straight in the face and says, "Yeah. This is a part of me." But in the same breath he rejects it, says it's not something he wants because he doesn't want to go down that path. He doesn't want it so bad he'd take his own life to keep it from taking over.

Gods, he's sooooo sad. Even Hoppered feels bad for him.

Hoppered still wants him dead, and still wants to die, as well. TBH, this feels more like he empathizes with Vash to some degree. Something something double suicide.

Ohhhh, something got lost in translation here. I've watched enough Attack on Titan to know that apparently Nightow replaced a word here with the pronunciation for "heart," but there's no corelary on the page.

I had heard about Nightow's love of action figures.

"They gather at the ocean with pleasant feeling." This sounds like something that was translated too literally from Japan. The phrase doesn't quite work in English.

"The meaning of their name in Japanese is 'omocha buzoku.'" This tells me nothing about the meaning of their name in Japanese. I am very confused.

Ah, he addressed the difference in the planet name from the manga to the anime. Sort of.

Haaaahahahahaha, ok, Story Time. A couple weeks ago I was at Anime Expo with @sweetpotoooooooos, and she went to a panel by Studio Bones (one of the old-timers as studios go) on one of the days when I couldn't attend. She said that during the panel, Bones mentioned that when they first got word of just how popular Fullmetal Alchemist (the original) was in the U.S., they thought they were being lied to. The numbers seemed too high. (As someone who was into anime at that time, I can verify that four of their five titles preceding FMA were talked about in the community, but only Wolf's Rain actually aired on Adult Swim where it could reach a broad audience... and... well, let's just say Wolf's Rain is not as good as FMA. (It does have an excellent Yoko Kanno soundtrack, though.)) FMA was first broadcast on Adult Swim in 2004. Trigun was first broadcast on Adult Swim in '03. In response to the question about rudeness and boundary setting.

So there are times when I read one of your responses and I wince, because I know you personally, and therefore I'm 100% aware what your tone is meant to sound like, but my brain also supplies me with how it might read to some people.

I think part of that is that most people don't go through your blog religiously, rather, you occasionally show up on their dash. So they don't get the context of how many people ask these questions (nor do they see behind the scenes how many of these sometimes distressing asks you DO ignore). So what I see is that occasionally you get exasperated and go "dude WHY" at one of these anons, but a lot of followers don't have that much context, and they will read it as more "rude".

And in a sense it is kind of "rude" to the singular asker, or could be read that way. Bc you're not responding just to them, consciously or subconsciously, you're setting an example of a boundary, hoping that it will deter others from sending these types of questions. So in other words your frustration against multiple people now look like it's directed at this one poor chap.

If I were to give a suggestion, I would say make a pinned post where you say "I will ignore and delete asks that step over my boundaries". And then when these asks get to be too much, it's your blog, and you get to vent however you want, but if you want to be sure that it doesn't hurt anyone, I would make general vents about it.

Like "WHY do people expect ..", without "singling out" any one ask.

Even screenshotting several of these asks and explaining why they are distressing, seems ok to me. But I can see how when you respond to ONE person, but emotionally you're responding to several, it can come across as a harsher tone than intended.

That's actually a really helpful perspective and I just made a new pinned post clearly establishing my boundaries. You're right that I sometimes do take my frustration about a general issue according how people interact with this blog out on one unfortunate person who might genuinely not realize that they're crossing a boundary, so now I'll try ignoring asks which disrespect the boundaries in my pinned post instead of making examples of them. On that note, I'm ending this whole discussion.

FFXIVwrite 2022 Recap

(To start, here's a link to the 2022 masterpost, just in case I haven't spammed the link enough elsewhere.)

During the last two writing challenges, I was working the night shift at an exceptionally shady hotel, which made it difficult to carve out time to participate. I got a chunk done for 2020, but for 2021, I think I only managed two. This year, I have a much more normal human schedule and I had high hopes of leveraging that to write a lot more.

I did alright, I think. I got 24 of them done, though a few of them didn't quite make it in before the deadline. That's... yeah, that's pretty good, I think. I had hopes of getting one done every day, but while my new schedule is better, it's not perfect. I usually only had a window to write within a narrow time frame somewhere in the hour or two before the daily deadline, which sent some of them squeaking in perilously close to the deadline, and some of them well after it. A lot of the writing felt rushed, and I felt like I kind of ended up going back to the same few wells a lot, and if I'm being honest, those wells were, uh, well frequented in 2020 already.

But.

Altogether, I did more of the prompts in 2022 than I did in 2020 and 2021 combined. That's kinda neat.

It's always kind of interesting to see what gets traction and what doesn't, and to see where that overlaps with the things that I wrote that I actually liked. So, what did I like? Well, I had fun with the freebie prompts this year, using each one as an excuse to delve into this blog's titular dumb hat. If you haven't seen those and you're curious, you can find them at Heirloom, Perspective, Memory, and Dumb Hat. I also really liked Row.

Honestly though, while I set out to write more this September, the main thing I wanted to accomplish was just to make this little blog feel a bit like home again. I've never been one of the great (or even good, or even mediocre) tumblrers, but once upon a time, I was kind of active. I know everyone says that the writing challenge is about building a daily writing habit, but (for better or worse!) it really helped me rebuild more of a daily tumblr habit. Well, I mean, outside of reblogging bird comics almost every day. I was weirdly consistent about that, somehow.

I'm not sure how well I'll maintain the presence, but hey, let's pretend I do. So, what's next?

I dunno. I should probably redo that LFRP /masterpost like I keep saying. I should really touch up the carrd, too. That thing's really out of date, and one of the (late, unsubmitted) prompts I did was a rewrite of the little thing I had on there anyway. Which probably means I need to either take or cajole @luck-and-larceny into taking some new screenshots. I've got a handful of asks from right before the challenge started, and a prompt/meme/whatever-thing or two I was tagged in during the challenge, so I should probably get those done, too.

Or, hey, I could just keep reblogging the rude bird art. There's always that, right?

MATPATS NEW THEORY FROM A FICTIVE’S PERSPECTIVE

Ok throwing my two cents into the ring for this whole shitshow that is matpats editor arg video. Mainly because I’m literally a fictive of R.Fakier and I’m just kinda fucking pissed at how little research or credit was used in the video.

1. the DID theory.

As a member of a system and as someone who has seen the red herring video, it doesn’t quite make sense on the topic of matpats theory. He says it like it’s canon to the story ignoring how Wilbur has said that theory is incorrect.

On top of that: it is very poorly researched of researched at all. DID stems from CHILDHOOD trauma from young ages to about 9-10 year olds. So maybe if he put the basic amount of effort he could maybe have been more specific by saying OSDD.

Also the whole “DID is commonly demonized” thing was true but seriously. You kinda just accused Editor Wilbur of murder twice.

2. The murder theory

I seriously dislike this theory. Yes sure it could make sense but it kinda doesn’t in my opinion. Like hm yes of course Kai wouldn’t snitch on Editor Wilbur having killed someone UNLESS he dared to try taking his job. Sure yeah that makes total sense. And it also makes total sense he wouldn’t tell anyone about how Editor Wilbur might’ve also tried to kill him as well.

Overall it would have been better and more likely if he actually fucking explained his theory.

3. Personal “biased” opinions as an R.Fakier fictive.

Though I know Wilbur will most likely debunk it and matpat would probably have screwed up because it’s not really meant to be solved at this point, I really think he could have and should have put more effort into it.

He came into the whole editor arg community slammed a theory in their faces and claimed to have solved it all and didn’t credit anyone on their findings and then abruptly left. I can’t speak for the arg community who worked three years to come up with all of that, but in my opinion it was pretty rude.

I feel as though if matpat had actually cared about this and wanted to make it seem like he did other than it just…looking like he wanted to jump on the train get credit and money and then leave he could have I dunno….maybe actually have checked up on other research and talk to other community members about it. Because from what I’ve been hearing his recent theory’s have been kinda dogshit and this is no excuse.

Not his normal viewers are saying things like “yeah this make sense!” So I’m very much expecting some people to take his theory as canon.

That’s sorta it. Feel free to add on.

TLDR: matpat didn’t really research well and his theory was less than okay in my opinion.

So this is interesting for me because I'm actually an asthmatic and cigarette smoke is one of my triggers. Naturally, that means I'm not the biggest fan of smoking (because I like breathing air) but I'm going to try not to turn this into a straight PSA. I assume if you smoke, you already know what's up and if you don’t, you're probably not considering it and leave things at that. I imagine what you want is the characters' perspectives and not mine, so I'll do my best to give that to you here. I hope you like it!

An MC Who's a Stress Smoker

Lucifer

Not the biggest fan of their habit, but mostly due to smell. Actually needing that bit of stress relief - he totally gets.

After he found out that they smoke he set a lot of ground rules: "No smoking in the House; No smoking at RAD; No smoking in uniform" yadi-yadi-yada… but he never straight up banned them from doing it.

If he catches the MC out smoking, he'll usually keep his distance until they've finished (and ideally changed clothes) before calling them in to ask what's wrong.

If they can't keep to the rules, that's when he's going to start having a problem. Cigarette/cigar smoke gives him a headache and he really can’t tolerate it for long…

If they start smoking in places they're not supposed to, then he will try to ban them cold turkey so better stay mindful about it. It wouldn’t take many slip ups unfortunately…

 

Mammon

Yeah… I know some people HC that Mammon smokes too. I wouldn't go that far, but I'll say he's most likely done it before.

Mammon picked up smoking for a century or so from his trips to the human world (humans freaking loved tobacco for some reason) but eventually stopped because the smell annoyed Lucifer and it has some weird effects on Diavolo…

When he caught the MC smoking on their balcony the first time, he was a little surprised because he didn't peg them for the type, but throwing stones in glass houses and all that… Who is he to judge?

Mammon actually likes to stick around during their outdoor smoke sessions. It's a pretty relaxing, dare say intimate, affair. He'll grab a cigarette himself and just let them vent about whatever's bothering them. Zero judgment about it all.

He will warn the MC about Lucifer’s dislike of the smell though… They have to be careful or he'll start getting on their case, you know?

Leviathan 

Smoking is fairly common among badass characters in anime so it's not like he has a super negative image of it to start with, anyway. 🤷‍♀️

Surprisingly understanding of their coping mechanism, I mean, this man has made a life out of his own.

If he sees that they’re out smoking he may pop out to go ask what's up. He won't be much bothered by the smoke unless they blow it right in his face or something (which is a little rude anyway).

Will be a little disappointed that the MC only does it to calm down and they're not actually some kind of secret badass (or maybe they are, I dunno) but he gets the need to have some kind of grounding more than most.

Isn't nearly as bothered by the smell as Lucifer, but not about to jump in and join them like Mammon… He's pretty down the middle about it.

 

Satan

Though he can't fault them for looking for relief, he's done enough research into human health that he really can’t condone this method…

Satan, bless his black soul, is going to be the nag of the family. He will bring up how unhealthy smoking is and he will urge them to try and find a different habit.

To be fair, he did the same to Mammon too - but to a lesser extent because demon bodies can cope with the toxins a lot better. Since the MC is human, he feels a lot of urgency… it comes from a good place.

The MC should expect to have to hide from Satan if they’re out smoking because he will crash their de-stressing with a mini-lecture. He won't go as far as to take the cigarette from their hands, but he will ask them to put it out.

He's not blind to their feelings, though. If they’re smoking, he'll ask what's wrong and how he can help so they can just stop for the night. If they do want to quit, then he's more than willing to support them through the transition. He won't leave them high and dry, but he will make his thoughts known. Be aware of that.

 

Asmodeus 

Uh, don't they know what smoking does to your skin? Your teeth?? Oh no, honey, you gotta try something else!

Yeah like Satan, Asmo isn't a huge fan but unlike Satan he's mostly worried about the physical damages alone. Poor guy can't understand why someone would actively do something with those negative effects when there are much healthier options!

He will pretty much be on a mission to give them other stress relief outlets like massages, bathes, music, meditation, or whatever else he can think of. He'll keep throwing stuff at a wall until it sticks. 🤷‍♀️

Again, it comes from a good place (albeit a somewhat more shallow one) but he cares deeply about them and always wants them to always look their best.

Unfortunately, Asmo's not even coming near them if he sees them smoking. He knows secondhand is a thing and he wouldn’t risk it, but he may call them or text them while they're out there to see what's wrong.

 

Beelzebub 

Beel's pretty easygoing one way or another so I see him accepting the MC's choice with little judgment. Their life and all.

Being an athlete, I also can imagine he may have a bit of knowledge about why it's not good for you but he won’t hammer it in like Satan. He might remind them once or twice if they start coughing because he worries… but that’s about it.

If there's anything he's going to be sad about, though, it's if their smoking habit starts to diminish their sense of taste… There’s so many foods he wants to share with them, he hopes they can enjoy it all… 😥

If Beel sees them out smoking, he'll pull a Levi and just come out to see what's wrong. He may not stay long because he doesn’t want to breathe in too much secondhand (still an athlete and all) but he'll still check in on them… Such a sweet guy.

 

Belphegor 

The smell did take some getting used to, but he used to nap around Mammon all the time so it's not like it's unfamiliar. He can adapt.

Really can't give two shits on whether or not their habit is healthy for them. In the long term, that may bite him in the ass, but that’s also kind of Sloth's whole deal so…

More or less would treat them the exact same way, smoking or not, because that doesn't much affect him or his chances to cuddle them.

If there's anything that is going to bother him, it might be coughing when he's trying to sleep... But that won't be a serious concern unless it gets BAD.

If Belphie sees them out smoking, he'll ask what's wrong… but also if they want to just come inside and sleep the problem off. He's trying to help… in his own way. 🤷‍♀️

 

Diavolo 

Daddy Devil smoked and you can't convince me otherwise.

The smell of cigarettes and cigars kind of give Diavolo a knee-jerk familiar reaction - like when you smell a food or soap that you associate with your childhood. It may not be a good smell or one you even like, but you're drawn to it anyway for the memories.

Doesn't matter how many times the MC has changed clothes or how long they scrub their body for, he can still smell it on them and it's like hitting a lightswitch in his brain - he knows that smell and it's oddly comforting…

Diavolo is going to hover around them a lot. Expect a lot of hugs or just standing a bit too close so he can get a good whiff. Lucifer is going to be utterly confused by his actions but Barbs knows what's up.

The MC is strictly forbidden by Lucifer to smoke anywhere near Diavolo, but that’s hardly going to matter. He can pick up when they've done it recently and he'll ask what's wrong… probably while hugging them because he's looking for that comfort too.

- that basement scene was weird af for me personally. i went like 'are they high? wait ... am i high?' it was all a bit much and i don't get it's purpose especially with the transition to the party without anything really happening. honestly for a second i suspected they would just randomly introduce a seemingly supernatural element à la riverfail 🙃😅🙈 dunno if that was just supposed to be a weird moment like that creepy s2 cabin thing in og skam or i am just not smart enough to get the purpose 🙃

- i am not saying everybody has to like lou. we know close to nothing about lou at the moment so an initial suspicion can be justified. but if that was the whole reason i would expect the same suspicion towards sascha because what do we know about him? equally little. but the energy towards them is SO different it's remarkable. yes they have very different vibes and that also plays a part in it but to me it's clear that the way these characters are perceived has a lot to do with what people are used to see in media

- my 'sascha has unrequited feelings for ismail' (or at least atm it should appear like it's one-sided) theory thickens. i am not at all saying his reaction can't be justified by platonic feelings and the fear of being dropped by a close friend because it sure can and i'd be satisfied with that. but to me the whole set up of the scene felt different. the shared look and the way he took off that silly headpiece (painnn!! my little heart broke) was so intense i feel like if it is not romantic interest it was at least meant to make us believe it was romantic interest

- to me the little 🙉🙊🙈 move almost feels like some inside joke...

- i can't get over the line 'but we don't belong together' in the aurora song... it's right there when they look at each other... and it would be way too on the nose to be good writing (which is why it be exactly the way i'd write it and why i am not an employed writer 😂) but still i can't stop thinking about it

- did the end of the episode only to me feel like a quick pov switch from isi to sascha? the way the last few moments of the episode were filmed? the way their texts switched to sascha's perspective and his texts with ava were shown... i know druck did this in the past already but somehow it felt odd to me so early in the season

- ava and sascha!!! loved their interactions and would love to see them deepen their friendship again even though (or maybe because) that will definitely bring some huge conflict with it. with what we know i feel like saacha does not know (at least not fully) what happened between ava and ismail (lol sis welcome to the club) and it could be very interesting to find out with him

- and last but not least: SOPHIE!!!! 😍😍😍 druck repping SOPHIE for the 2nd time this season now is superior. and 'immaterial' is just a banger (and honestly sascha it was a bit rude to stop that song even for 'cure for me' which is also perfect)

So i know you don't like certain aus mixed with inverted fate like dusttale but my question is that is horrortale one of those aus that you don't like being mixed with inverted fate?

In Horrortale's case, I just feel like it'd be really hard to justify due to Frisk's personality in the AU and the lack of there being a traditional "Frisk leaves the Underground" neutral ending. Ultimately, Flowey would push Frisk to reset or reload away any mistakes until they get an ideal outcome. That doesn't mean folks can't play with the concepts and have fun, of course. It's just coming from a lore perspective, it's one of those cases where as the AU's creator my nitpicky brain goes, "I dunno how that would work." I know in a lot of these cases, people just wanna make fun designs. If someone wanted to play with this kinda combo, I wouldn't be mad, tho! Most of the AUs I don't want mixed with IF come down to personal discomfort. E.g. I don't like AUs that swap character personalities, so mixing IF with stuff like original or fanon Underswap just doesn't click with me because I can never get behind that approach to role swapping on a personal level. Alt*rtale has the added aspect of erasing Undyne's lesbianism on top of that, so on a personal level the idea of it being mixed w/ IF just makes me super uneasy. Dust AUs just feel too edgy to me and don't make sense from a characterization standpoint in my eyes, and I just... don't like fanworks that focus on the murder run for the most pat (w/ a few exceptions like True Geno). And any AU w/ Ch*sriel, f*ntcest, or any kinda ships w/ the kid characters paired with the adults is just a big nope for me (which is why Ax*tale I'd want kept away from IF).

(That being said, AU crossovers where Underswap characters meet IF characters? Totally cool with that! There's interesting potential.) At any rate, I say this all knowing, at the end of the day, I can't control these things. But somehow people have translated this into, "Dorked doesn't want ANY fanworks/AUs of Inverted Fate!" Which... isn't the case? Fan content is always welcome, and people coming up w/ AU scenarios within IF can be really neat. I think there are a lot of cool "What if?" scenarios baked into the comic, for instance. I just generally prefer fanworks that take into account the story and world of IF rather than just its designs as a basis. That being said, I don't say this to scare people outta making stuff- I'm just saying it in the interest of honesty wrt IF-based AUs. Also, in general, I do like seeing fanart for IF! :O I just sometimes don't catch it all because I'm a busy person.

As a side note, and I don't say this to be rude, but I don't like being shown Why or One Shall Prevail covers. I'm just burned out on those songs getting all the attention over the OST we've worked so hard on, but folks are of course free to keep remixing those tracks. I just lowkey wish they were divorced from IF.

But I just can’t see romantic interest on Paul’s end. I’m sure he loved John, but a lot of the “sexual/Romantic evidence” really can just be as construed as platonic love. I feel there may be some confirmation bias looking for “clues”. (Not an attack on anyone, but some of the analysises seem to try too hard, really).

He does make references, with the whole “calling him babe during concerts”, and “in bed” but that could just mean he’s not uncomfortable with coming off “gay”. He has a quote about it somewhere I think. He’s supportive of the community at any rate.

This is kind of my own bias, but at times I think he…plays it up a little during the present day? Again, I’m positive he did love John a lot, but with how he is, a charmer, good at manipulating his image, he knows there is a benefit to building up the “magical” Lennon McCartney dynamic. John’s dead, and the old conflicts have faded, so he has no reason not to. I don’t think he’s anti-social, or a psycho or anything, but he certainly does put a lot of thought into his image, especially now, with how he wants to leave his legacy.

I’m less knowledgeable about John, and the speculation about his mental illnesses, but on his end, I can certainly see it. Maybe he’s just blind, but the looks are very much…yeah. He does seem to rely Paul a lot, and hold him in very high regard (REGARDLESS of what those old male biographers might make of him). You just know he was suffering over Paul, poor bastard.

Not sure if anything happened. I think Paul knew though, and either ignored it, or was kind, knowing John wouldn’t act on it. OR he didn’t notice! With the whole “we shared beds A LOT. you would think he’d make a pass at me, darling~”

I guess that’s how I see it. I don’t really have strong feelings on the nature of their relationship, or want them to be “confirmed”, so I try to be as objective as possible! Not a shipper, but not a male biographer. In fact, I was very put off learning the ship was a thing at first! With every fan base “having to” ship the main male leads, that’s what I thought this was. But after three years, reading actual books, primary stuff, I’ve began to change my mind on its legitimacy, and this was my conclusion. But new information can always change!

Yeah, this is basically my big mclennon dilemma: did Paul love John?

Of course he loved him, but I mean did he harbour any homosexual feelings towards John - and I just go back and fourth on that a lot.

In my last response to an anon I wasn’t necessarily trying to argue that Paul was romantically/sexually attached to John, because all in all, I don’t believe he did - but it probably came off that way because I didn’t particularly like the way the anon had phrased some stuff (like calling him “a master manipulator” and “incapable of love”) and so I just sort of wanted to show that the relationship was more nuanced then just “john was simping for paul”. My overall point with that response was more so that whilst I think Paul struggles in showing real affection and emotions, I don’t think he was incapable of love prior to Linda. I think he did really love John (in whichever form of love you want to take it: romantically, platonically etc.)

And so my point I guess wasnt so much that Paul was always capable of love (because I think he did at least love his family, his close-friends, probably Jane etc.), but maybe more so that he was always capable of intimacy with another person, though he struggled with it.

But yeah, he was quite cruel to a lot of the girls he slept with in the 60s, but I wouldn’t say that suggests he was incapable of love (i know thats not what you’re saying but other people might interpret it through that lens) I would just say he was young, dumb, ridiculously rich and famous and not emotionally mature enough yet to really empathise with most of those girls. Not trying to completely excuse him, but like, i dunno, i always just try to view people from the most human perspective. Everyones an twat sometimes yknow

I also really struggle to see romance on Pauls behalf towards John - the only times I think “wait but maybe he did fancy john back” is when I read some of his lyrics (like in ‘Coming Up’, ‘Yvonne’s The One’, and to some extent ‘Here Today’ - though I think interpreting Here Today as strictly platonic love is still a valid interpretation). I mentioned this in a different post though, that analysing his lyrics just isnt particularly convincing for me, because it feels more like speculation - and also as someone who does write songs, I know that a lot of lyrics just arent as deep as we wish they were. It is really difficult to be truly introspective and honest in a song, without exaggerating or hyperbolising or fictionalising any autobiographical aspects.

I do see your point with Paul possibly playing up the “Lennon/McCartney m a g i c” - im not entirely sure how much I agree, but I do agree to some extent. I think he’s always been very image conscious, and being in what is probably the all-time most famous pop band definitely wouldve heightened that. Even as a teenager I think he’s always just had this natural charm about him, and that tends to stem I guess from a need to be liked; I think you can see it in every interview he’s ever done to be honest. Its not necessarily a bad thing, (because id take a charmer over a rude knobhead any day) but I guess it sort of just shows that Paul is flawed like everybody else. Also, just read @mothernatures-sons tags and I agree with her - Paul just knows when to be a nice person! Nothing wrong with that! It isnt manipulative like the last anon suggested, its just how most people are: polite :) Ive heard a lot of anecdotes from people who have worked with or met Paul and the majority of them say he was a just a nice guy. Not saying he was never an arsehole (cause yeah he was pretty cruel to those girls in the 60s) but I think overall, hes a pretty good guy 👍

On the other hand though, you could also say that superficial journalists are looking for superficial answers - and Paul knows what the people want to hear. But occasionally ill hear an interview that does seem more intimate then most - I havent listened to it in awhile, but the interview he did with Sean I remember felt more honest to me then most. And when he said he’d like to spend the day “in bed” with John, to me that felt like a genuine and fitting response. Because, whilst it has sexual connotations, it also just feels like he’s saying he’d just like to sit around, chat, dont chat, just whatever with John for a day. Like he would just like another moment of intimacy with him.

I think we are pretty much in agreement on most of this though! At first I was also like “nah, mclennon isnt real, teenage girls just love shipping guys!” (I am a teenaged girl and I can confirm this lol) but then it just sort of became apparent to me through reading more and more about their relationship that there probably was something more on Johns behalf. If John wasnt in love with Paul, then it feels as though a lot of things he said and did just dont add up (the big one for me is him marrying Yoko so soon after Paul married Linda - like I really cannot come up with a heterosexual explanation for that!)

But when it comes to Paul, though ill have moments of doubt, I dont think he was in love with John (homosexually) and I do think a lot of the evidence on Pauls behalf seems like a stretch (but like you, im not having a go at anyone, because I understand that it is easy to carried away, plus its fun - but realistically, most of Pauls evidence just is not convincing to me). He’s comfortable with his sexuality, and I really do try to respect that and not force a gay interpretation of quotes or songs from him, unless it is genuinely making me question his sexuality and mclennon.

PS dont worry, I didn’t take this is spam at all!! And also, I would never block someone just for disagreeing with me! I enjoy discussion and I think its good to engage with people who disagree with you! To be honest, id only block someone if they were purposely being a real arsehole <3

Some thoughts about the dynamic between the five Supernovas

...a.k.a. One Piece 1001 chapter

Spoilers ahead!

The previous one piece chapters felt at times dragged out a bit too much but were needed to set everything in the right perspective and to build proper hype for the upcoming fight between Emperors and Supernovas. Thanks to that, the chapter 1001 felt both refreshing and, generally speaking, is a good mix of awesomeness and solid humor. Even my lowkey interest in epic battle between those two forces increased but frankly, it still comes down to an already settled dynamic between (idiot) Captain Trio and non-captain Duo.

All because the contrast between those two groups is both palpable and amusing:

On one hand, we have three renowned captains, all strong in their own ways. So far the manga provided examples of Luffy-Law and Luffy-Kid dynamic and despite their character differences, when in need, they can work together well. It seems like Luffy and Kid share similar abrasive nature thus are more prone to argue with each other, while Law most of the time rolls with Luffy’s chaotic stubbornness. But once the three of them get together, all their brain cells apparently disappear and everyone tries to outdone the rest.

To be fair, this is nothing new. But as much as Luffy and Kid aren't a surprise here, Law’s behaviour is especially out of norm. As the oldest Supernova captain, Law usually was the one scheming and planning every step or two ahead. So far, he worked pretty well with Luffy and Zoro, even though both men stressed him hella way too much. But now he has some obsession to look as an independent factor, like he truly does not want the Emperors or Kid to see him as Luffy’s subordinate. Despite his usual pragmatic approach, Law allowed his pride to get in the way. To the point of getting hit by an attack easy to avoid. 

Though to be fair, the most surprising moment was Luffy who managed to talk two stubborn fellow captains into his game of “the first who flinch is the weakling”. I mean, a psychological approach (the mind games?) aren’t Luffy’s usual modus operandi. And yet, when Law acted on his hurt ego, Luffy was the cunning one, for a change.

And so the Three Captains get hit with a fireball because they are dumbasses who in middle of fight focused more on proving some manly (idiotic) matter of bravery and/or power rather than work together.

(Thankfully, Zoro called the dumbass TRIO on their bullshit and really, he kept reminding Luffy to take New World seriously since Punk Hazard)

So, we have the Captain Trio that still didn’t figure out how to work properly together and most likely the Emperors are going to beat some shit out of them before their ego/pride and ongoing, not resolved strife will be put aside for some epic teamwork.

On the other hand, there is Zoro and Killer who also have some sort of rivalry between them - the reminder of their previous fight - but it didn’t go out of control like with the Captain Trio. Zoro told Killer he recognized him as the Kamazou (pointing out the characteristic laugh that we learned some time ago Killer outright hates) and both had a small talk about the result of said fight (Killer thinks he would win if he had his scythes, Zoro says it would end the same), yet I wouldn’t say there was palpable tension between them. Definitely nothing of the sort that is between the Captain Trio in which Luffy, Law and Kid like to derogatory each other and maybe even want to take the lead in the fight. Probably to prove their manliness or something like that.

Zoro said to Killer “try not to get into my way” which is so different from Captain Trio’s interaction some chapters ago. The wording alone is an interesting way to show the established relationship between them. Zoro thinks he is the better fighter (and most likely he is not wrong), but it’s still less rude/arrogant than Kid’s from 1000th chapter

or even Kid screaming at others to “don’t get in my way!” or Law and Luffy’s “stand back!”, from chapter some time ago. I mean, Zoro didn’t tell Killer he is useless (due to already lost fight) nor outright rejected the potential help coming from the other man. And in contrast to Captain Trio, the Non-captain Due straight up synchronized their attacks as one and went for cutting Kaido’s head - it didn’t work of course, but that is the difference between Supernovas little groups, isn’t it?

Law, Kid and Luffy have this ongoing rivalry since Sabaody Archipelago but never actually had a proper fight against each other. They have some common ground and shared moments of comradience (Luffy & Law whole deal with Doffy, Luffy & Kid’s time in Uden when Kid and Killer were saved by Straw Hat and his friends) but they can’t stand each other once the three are together and clash for totally childish matters even with two angry Emperors before them while Killer and Zoro actually hurt each other in fight some chapters ago, had a reason to hold grudge against each other (Killer was forced to work for Orochi to save his captain and was left behind bleeding without a second thought, then sent to prison, Zoro became a friend of Hiyori and Toko who Killer, as Kamazou, tried kill) but despite the small talk they kept cool head and showed potential for some good teamwork. And dunno, the 1001 chapter deepens my feeling from previous scenes that Killer and Zoro will play the so needed role of buffers (x) between the stubborn and prideful captains to balance their abrasive behaviour and thus help improve the general teamwork of Supernovas.

I mean, the last time when Kid and Luffy were actually working well was thanks to Zoro staying between them with Killer acting as voice of reason / figuring out enemy’s powers:

So I really expect more mixing of Supernovas with each other in future.

I just want to say I love the dynamic between the five Supernovas and the amusing contrast between the Three (idiot) Captains and Non-captain Duo.
