ok this is not really a request, but what would yan!dan heng be like? i barely see any yan!dan heng content and thats probably because I don't even know how he would behave. Would he silently obsess over you? Would he not let you leave the archives, taking his life when he was young as an example, giving you books as your only respite? Would the astral express crew be in on it?
I feel like yan!dan heng would be like a pathetic wet cat about it, acting unfeelingly but then begs and begs for your affection in private, guilt tripping you without noticing and then finally giving up and taking what he wants whether you like it or not.
Hello anon!
I understand your frustration, and tbh even i struggle a bit with characterizing yan!dan heng, so i havent been able to push out any of his content.
He's not an exact favorite either, so i wasnt at all bothered by the lack of content but i understand you (sunday enjoyer here).
Honestly, i think one of the major reasons its hard to character yan!dan heng is kind of because hes actually a bit of a mellow character who's pretty cozy. Im not thorough with his backstory but it seems like he's always trying to be on the down-low, and never do things that warrant attention. Yan!dan heng would, as a result, not be so different in my opinion. However, a few of his aspects do seem to be interesting as a result.
As far as i know of his character, yan!dan heng would probably be extremely secretive as a result, kind of the stalker-ish type, who gets insecure easily and has to constantly keep grounding himself about you. But whenever you're within the vicinity, his patience wears thin. It grows dreadful to handle over time.
If his obsession gets strong enough, he'll only frequent his darling more and more through mysterious means, the kind that makes his darling more paranoid and as a result, seek out refuge in him about their "stalker", not realizing who they're actually talking to. Yan!dan heng would probably gauge out how much info his darling has about their "stalker", and if it's too much, he adapts and finds more hidden and unnoticeable means. The only time i can see him officially tie down his darling is if they take the initiative to investigate what's been going on and find out his entire archives worth of information on darling, and dan heng being confronted by it. In a bit of a panic, he'd take countermeasure and his patience finally snaps.
Another flip side of him is what you mentioned. Depending on how far within yan!dan heng's grasp you're in, he would be very starved for any form of affection. He's been constantly leaving behind everything, running away from things, to the point he probably seldom feels like anything in his life is permanent. So when darling comes along, yan!dan heng is so so desperate, he won't show it at first because he'll try to resist and give darling space, but it just constantly snaps taut strings inside of him, and he can't help but cling onto you. You'll thrash and scream and yell at him but he's so eerily quiet, gripping you and crushing you against his chest. He feels so guilty about it, but he's just so lonely. He does guilt trip you sometimes, and gets you to quiet down, but who knows how often that'll last? He can't get himself to "punish" you often either, so he just gives you strict warnings and scoldings from time to time, but then his insecurities get the best of him, and he can't help but cling to you even in your sleep, afraid you'll slip away like everything. He has self-doubt very often, and his main way would be just to seek you out, and force himself onto you in any physical form of affection, even if you grumble and protest about it.
In any case, i feel yan!dan heng would be a luckily tolerable yandere.

Actually, while we are at it, can we talk about how awful a lot of the fanbase treats Basil? My man can’t catch a break because almost everyone misinterprets him one way or another.
Where do I even start? Literally everything he does is taken the wrong way. There’s the people who characterize him as an obsessive yandere who only cares about Sunny and did everything in his power to isolate him. On the other hand, we have people who just remove one of the basic core aspects of him as a whole and make him an empty husk with no real personality.
Headacanon him however you want, but also try to understand him? I don’t know how people can say he only cares about Sunny when it’s clear he deeply appreciates his friends. He has a stronger bond with Sunny, but that doesn’t mean he’s a possessive and obsessed person who is toxic.
He definitely fucked up along the way, but his actions were never intended to hurt Sunny intentionally. He was in a panic and all he wanted was to keep his best friend safe. People constantly treat him as he’s a disgusting person for simple fact he shows mental illness signs, which is incredibly disheartening because there IS people in real life who act this way and can’t help it! What a relief it is to know people will treat me or my friends like this if we dare show an ounce of distress or panic!
Being mentally ill does not justify your actions, but this also doesn’t mean you are allowed to treat people who suffer from them like scum. People like Basil deserve to get help, to have people who support them so they can start healing. Basil clearly didn’t have that support, the only person that was there for him being his bedridden grandmother who he eventually lost.
And on the other hand, we have people who just choose to get rid of Basil’s personality altogether and characterise him as this character who is all suffering and trauma based off things that are NOT canon. It’s true that Basil’s life doesn’t exactly fit a “normal” childhood (having to live with his grandmother for unknown reasons) but that doesn’t immediately mean he is beyond traumatized? Basil is a little shy, sure, but a lot of people are. Basil used to be a smart and lively kid who loved his friends dearly. It wasn’t until AFTER the incident that he spiralled to the point he is where we see him in game.
People either disregard his trauma and paint him as a villain (let’s make one thing clear, there are NO villains in OMORI), or try to give him even more trauma for no apparent reason. All we know is that his parents aren’t really present in his life, and while that may bring some issues, from what we can see in cutscenes and the photo album, Basil lived a comfortable life surrounded by a loving family member and friends who cared about him.
You are free to explore Basil’s character however you like, but there’s a point where it no longer feels like Basil.
There is nothing wrong with showing his gentle side, just as how there’s nothing wrong to explore his unhealthy behaviour. But focusing on only one of the aspects of his entire self just turns him into a one-dimensional character with no redeemable qualities.
In my opinion, Basil is one of the best examples of a person struggling with mentally illness in media, yet people choose to ignore the complexity of his character to have either a selfish and dangerous yandere or a cute and shy femboy who’s only there to look pretty.
Write him like the mess he is. He is unstable. He is resentful, he is paranoid. That’s what makes Basil’s character so loved. That’s what makes him feel so relatable and human. Ignoring one side of his self takes away all of that. OMORI is a game about acceptance and forgiving. Why shouldn’t we apply those terms to their characters? It’s rather hypocritical for the fanbase to treat Sunny as a poor boy who only did what he did due to stress and trauma and then mark Basil as a psychopath with no redeemable features as if he wasn’t also a scared child who witnessed his very best friend push his sister down the stairs.

Ignore this post, my HoTD moots, this is going to be a long post you don't care about.
it's PJO/HoO rant time.
What can I say, Tumblr brings me back to the simpler times of 2016.
Y'all baby Frank too much. Like. Way too much.
Leo was a dick at times, no doubt. But I think y'all forget Frank was absolutely being antagonistic because he was paranoid over Leo looking like Hazel's ex. You can argue it's because Leo fired on New Rome, but Frank himself counters that claim and Leo is initially grateful Frank didn't blame him.
Tumblr media
Frank was also the first one to bring up Sammy, not Hazel, just before that. Later, all before Leo says anything against Frank, Piper thinks Frank's behavior is because it seems like Leo and Hazel had a history. This is a longer bit of a book scene, but I feel like it gets ignored.
Tumblr media
This is still before Leo says anything against Frank. I will be saying that a number of more times. Leo just complimented his ability and Frank responds with a pretty catty comment about Leo's physical abilities. You can see the difference in how he reacts even more clearly in a scene before, when Hazel is commenting on Frank turning into a dragon
Tumblr media
Frank doesn't counter the idea to become a dragon, he just has an issue with leaving Hazel with Leo. Leo again, so far, isn't upset with Frank. He wants to prove he's trustworthy.
When Piper does her fun little exorcism on the lads, this happens. I have to say yet again. Leo has not insulted Frank at this point. Not a huge issue, Frank was a bit shaken up, but it was still kind of a dick move to just. Let him hit the dirt. I'll excuse it because it is very funny.
Tumblr media
Later when they find out about Nico, this scene below happens. Leo has still not said anything against Frank at this point - Jason even agrees repeatedly with Leo, but Frank only glares at Leo.
Tumblr media
After this, when Hazel is upset and leaves, Leo starts to likely say he should go apologize, but Frank cuts him off saying, "you've done enough."
We're a few hundred pages through the book now at this point. Frank has insulted Leo, he doesn't trust him, doesn't want Hazel around him, singles him out, and literally let him fall to the ground. Leo has not said anything against him yet.
Even Percy notes that Frank's mood is tied to his relationship with Hazel, and Leo seemingly threatening that.
Tumblr media
(and for those who are curious - baleful means threateningly, or to wish harm)
This is when, after a good chunk into the novel, we reach Leo's first dig at Frank.
Tumblr media
Then ~the iguana incident~ comes not long after, but if you're going to call this Leo bullying him, you'd have to include... Everyone. Since they literally all laughed at Frank turning into a lizard to get out of the finger trap. Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, everyone. Not a fun moment for Frank, I sympathize with him there, but I wouldn't personally call this pointed bullying. You may disagree but I do not think at the very least that Riordan intended it to be seen as bullying. This is followed by Leo sending Frank's dirty laundry out on Buford for awhile (though he does claim that it would be cleaned and returned to him, eventually we do learn the laundry is lost. This was not a planned thing by Leo, and I don't understand why this is characterized by some people as him purposely throwing away Frank's clothes.)
All this eventually leads to this exchange.
Tumblr media
Gee, I don't know, Frank. Maybe because you keep glaring at him anytime you're around him to the point even Percy was like oh boy I got to get him off the ship before he folds Leo like a pretzel.
Later, Frank actually helps save Leo in eagle form, but ends up injured in the process - and drops Leo. I really don't think Frank meant to drop him, but Leo thinks Frank dropped him on purpose. That's kind of a big thing, even though it's a minor line.
Tumblr media
Then, Frank is back to being untrusting of Leo. He's glowering, glaring, and again - doesn't want to leave Leo with Hazel.
When Hazel is alone with Leo, she finally takes the time to defend Frank.
Tumblr media
So, clearly, Frank scares Leo.
Leo scares Frank.
It's a fun horrible little wicked web! It's almost like the author intended them to buttheads! Shocking!
I've run out of pictures to add!
I could and probably will continue this nonsense, but the general point of this rant is Frank is not just some totally sweet big guy who has never done anything wrong in his entire life, and characterizing him as such just makes him boring. He's self conscious, insecure, and lashes out at- boy, doesn't that sound familiar. Anyway.
He was kind of a dick to Leo, and Leo was kind of a dick to him in turn.
I'm pretty sure I had a better ending for this originally, that summed everything up, but now I'm distracted and just bitter they didn't kiss.
I didn't even have time to reach their interactions underwater.

Gwen Tennyson is one of my favorite characters in anything ever but there's this pervasiveness in this fandom that shes. Well. A nice, good person. And I don't really like that, especially when shes absolved of her very clear faults to the detriment of other characters. Basically all of Gwen and Kevin's relationship is Gwen doing things to Kevin that, in a normal show, she would be made to apologize for, like rushing him into a relationship when he has made it clear he is not interested at that moment, trying to make him jealous and putting their whole team in danger (which is entirely put on bens shoulders and not hers), hitting him as a punchline for a joke when all Kevin's done is make a silly comment, calling him ugly, blah blah blah you get my point I've been over this a billion times. There are other characters who get the short stick too. In the episode where Elena pretends to be Julie and puts the alien trio under the impression that she ditched nationals to hang out with ben, sure as a friend you'd be worried, but Gwen keeps saying over and over that it's not like julie, she shouldn't put a boy over herself, telling her she made a bad decision, even when julie tells her no, I've made my decision, I don't want to talk about this. Gwen does not respect anyone's boundaries even people like Kevin, Julie, and Ben, who are supposed to be her friends. But people in the fandom characterize Gwen as sweet, kind, helpful, never in the wrong ever even when she is doing something horrible. Remember when people used to say that "Gwen didn't deserve kevin" not because of the constant belittling of his interests, lack of appreciation of his boundaries (see also: those scenes in Trade Off where Kevin repeatedly takes her hand off of him and she keeps trying to touch him anyway), and general nastiness, but because Kevin, who was at the time under the impression that Gwen was getting tired of him (wonder why he'd think that what with her calling him hideous every other episode) got groomed, assaulted, and enslaved. And that's his fault I guess because he's a guy and guys can't get abused. Gwevin is so good you guys the only problem is Kevin, the guy who left his entire support system to go live with his girlfriend, the guy who carries her bags and nonstop talks about how much he lives her when she can never muster up a word to say about him besides "He's nice" and "he's changed". Gwen is always in the right because shes a girl boss character who is not allowed to have flaws besides being stuck up or whatever, and it's totally OK if she needlessly suspects everyone around her and crosses the boundaries of basically everyone she talks to. Read me this: if you think female characters should be strong, why shouldn't you acknowledge Gwen's flaws? Why is it better to have a character who's kind, sweet, motherly, badass but only in ways that won't upstage the male main character, than an awkward, horrible teenage girl who loves people so strongly she strangles them, who's overly paranoid based on her own biases, who views her friends as projects she can fix, but God she is trying so hard. God, I'm begging you, please factor this in to your Gwen fanworks, I'm so tired of her being portrayed as a good person. Shes not a good person. Shes a 16 year old girl.
Tumblr media
(Also sorry I talked so much about gwevin its just that Gwen isn't allowed to be her own person outside of men in this show)

Why I think Donnie 2012 has BPD too
.
.
BEFORE I START THIS . I'm aware donnie has OCD CANNONICALLY but the OCD and BPD comorbidity, although not studied often, occurs often. About 15–44% (NIH Joshi, Gagan).
1.Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment.
I feel like this is the most dominant criterion for BPD. Donnie displays this by formulating elaborate plans to prevent april from not hanging out with him and saving her father after he got mutated --which I am aware is mostly because he's a good person and wants to save another human being-- but also it's pretty obvious he thinks this will bring her back to him.
RSD ( rejection sensitive dysphoria) is also VERY prominent in people with bpd. This is shown in episode 10 Fungus Humungous. Not just the rejection of April but of people all together seeing that april in the first few seasons is represented more of a concept to him rather than somebody he actually loves.
2.A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation.
I think it's safe to say the relationship april and donnie has is unstable. Mostly on donnie's end. He is shown to idealize her often but also has snapped on her once in the show when she didn't act/respond the way he wanted her to in season 1 episode 9. All of this is mostly in Donnie's head because the feelings aren't reciprocated, but the relationship for him at least is very intense and he has intense feelings about it.
3. Affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days).
Donnie has A LOT of mood swings throughout the series. More than any of his other siblings and not saying a lot because of raph. It's mostly just anxiety and irritability that only lasts a few moments in the episode.
4. Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms.
I think Donnie displays paranoid ideation wich is characterized by persistent thoughts of distrust or suspicion. This is usually targeted at casey (the love rival) but sometimes it's inappropriate when casey and april are just standing next to one another.
5.Impulsive behavior in 2 areas that are potentially self-damaging.
Donnie is a teenage boy so this is a strech but I've seen him be impulsive with driving and making rash decisions in the heat of the moment. This is not to be confused with this compulses wich is diffrent from impulsive behavior.
6.Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self.
This one was kind of hard and maybe also a bit of a stretch because I do feel like Donnie does have a sense of self but when it's challenged he has an identity crisis and it sends him spiraling. When he can't fix something right away the one thing he thinks he's really good
at he begins to doubt his self immediately. This often occurs with people with BPD because we might lach on to one aspect of ourselves to have some sense of identity but when it's disturbed we get very discouraged/ depressed.

I'm working on Chapter 2 of the fic (and getting back to answering comments!), and I found the Slay the Princess AMA on r/Games and it's really giving me a LOT to think about when it comes to how reality works in the construct, and how character progression and development for the Voices becoming more rounded people might work as well as positive and negative traits for them. (I'm also amused that despite the Voices being "both at their best and their worst in different parts of the story" on purpose, I actually can't think of a chapter in which having Paranoid or Hunted is actively detrimental to you!) I also found this:
Tumblr media
Which is really making me think the customization of them getting their own bodies could be wild. What if some of them have beaks and some of them don't, and it only actually solidifies because of actual observation -- like until the first split they both have a beak and do not have a beak but Smitten's body specifically does not have a beak (he must, of course, be able to have passionate, romantic, perfect kisses!) and Hunted's body specifically does (closer to nature, closer to Bird)... Lots to think about for the upcoming parts... I also also found this one, which does sort of have a characterization point I want to think about, but also just makes me laugh so I wanted to share:

The characterization of Klaus in his fanfics is just insane.
First of all, this is gonna be bashing to 96% of Klaus’s fanfics lmao. I still love reading them tho.
But straight to the point, why are people writing him as if he would ever allow someone, anyone, to disrespect him the way authors make their ocs do??? No, Klaus wouldn't be giggling and shit if you call him "puppy" or "Santa Klaus", he's literally gonna murder you in the spot and even worse lmao.
I've read so much stories where the protagonist is constantly insulting Klaus and bickering with him (it's funny tho) and he just... allows it. Yes, Klaus, the man who's literally shown to tear off heads whenever someone as much breathes in the wrong way, and yet he allows this teen (because in 99% of fanfics the protagonist is a girl not over nineteen, at least physically) to talk shit about him.
Like I absolutely love those kind of stories, they're good and I'll continue reading them, but the Klaus they write is 100% ooc. And I understand why, because as someone who used to write fanfics of him, his character is just so difficult to write but it doesn't seem like they even try to.
Moving to another famous trope in his fanfics: soulmate stories. I find it very ooc that he would actually accept he has a soulmate: he wouldn't believe it, he's literally the most paranoid character of tvdu, Klaus would 100% believe it's just a plot made to control him and he would probably kill his soulmate, only to regret it forever. Or those "I've been seeing her/having dreams about her for a thousand of years, she's without a doubt the person I'm meant to love forever", what?? 😭
If Klaus ever saw this person in real life, there are just two possibilities I can think of:
A) he would be extremely paranoid and would kill this person on the spot
B) he would be extremely paranoid, but decides to not kill x person for some barely explained reason and would get to know her/him and perhaps fall in love.
I'm aware Klaus can and has been soft in canon: with his family (in occasions, more in New Orleans modern era), with Hayley, Marcel, and Cami. I mean, Klaus loved Cami so much he actually begged her to not leave him, to fully turn into a vampire because he was terrified of losing her, and a decade after her death he was still in love with her (something a certain part of the fandom fails to see lmao).
The fanfics where he cheats with Hayley/Cami/Caroline/ Genevieve/Aurora or he just cheats while he's in a relationship also are ooc imo. If he's in a commited relationship and he loves the person he's with, I don't see him as the cheater type, especially because he wasn't sleeping around in the program.
But either way, show me the fanfics with true depiction. Show me fanfics where he's so screwed up that he continually pushes the person he loves away, where he constantly hurts them with/without intention as he did to his siblings, where he constantly uses his s/o for his own personal gain or similar. Where he's actually his true self, the man he was in tvd before having Hope and even after having Hope, because she actually did not change him that much.
I think I only found three fics like that: one in ao3 called I Would Hurt A Fly, where the oc was a witch or something like it and he used her as a personal sex toy/blood bag but there were slight hints of his love but sadly was deleted.
Or the ones written by @viavolterra and @saintsir4n, the way they write Klaus is the closest I've ever seen to his canon self and it's genuinely good writing. Patisserie is also a really good written fanfic that writes the characters well, but it's a poly Mikaelson fic (which it's even better, the more the best)
Either way, a violent man isn't gonna change with the power of love and family. The Originals tried doing that with Hope and they failed, because Klaus was the same man he was at the start, just slightly less mean to his family.

DICK GRAYSON | NIGHTWING (young justice animated)
────────────────────
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
────────────────────
“Intruder Alert” (Dick Grayson x Gn!Reader)
| Dick sneaks into your apartment after a rough night and the two of you end up scaring each other.
| SFW, false scare, reader has a panic attack, wound care
| Not canon complaint. (pic source: Young Justice animated series)
| 600+ words
Tumblr media
When you walk into your apartment you allow yourself exactly two seconds of unease before inching your way right back out.
You might not be Bat levels of paranoid but you still hung around them enough to have picked up on a few things, however subconsciously.
Like the faint sound fabric makes when rubbed against and to stop and listen before you enter a room for breathing.
You feel kind of stupid not bothering to close the door. You’d already given yourself away with your key in the lock though, there was no need to do any more damage and let the possible intruder know that you were onto them so quickly.
You’ve carried yourself in a near daze down two flights of stairs before you remember you’re supposed to be calling someone. For a second something in you seizes up with the sting of humiliation as you tap on the saved name in your contacts, but you shove it off. You’d rather this be a false alarm and look a little foolish than you ignore what you picked up on and end up dead.
As you make your way to the lobby one step after the other the stairs that when you first started we’re perfectly clear are now blurry. Clearly the person hadn’t attacked you the moment the door opened so it wasn’t a rushed hit. So what the hell did you do to earn a calculated hit, one that wouldn’t happen until the door was closed and you felt safe?
You wipe at your eyes in an attempt to get rid of the blurriness but it doesn’t work. Jesus what the hell was going on?
Dick picks up on the fourth ring.
“Hey,” he says, voice tight. “I was just about to call you. What a coincidence.”
The way he says it doesn’t make it sound like a fun coincidence. You feel decidedly not fun right now though as you’re forced to stop when your legs buckle under you. You have to lean against the railing to stay on your feet.
Were you drugged? Did you release some type of gas into your system when you opened your door?
“Y/n, hey babe can you hear me! Where are you?”
“Um- I’m in the….is this line secure?”
“Of course.”
“I’m in the stairwell of my place. Third floor I think?”
“….oh?”
“Yeah. I opened my door and something was off so I left like you told me to do.”
Another longer pause before a muffled ‘shit’ and then: “…hold on I’m coming to get you.”
Turns out Dick had simply - though you didn’t see what was simple about him breaking into your 6th floor apartment with a sword wound - been in your place before you got there. You’d thought he was an intruder, and him the same of you, and you’d both freaked yourselves out in the process.
And now he’s pretzeled beside you examining the slash on his thigh, Nightwing suit laying behind him on the back of the couch with the medical kit unearthed from under your bathroom sink.
“Way to follow your instincts back there,” he’s saying. You only hum in acknowledgment, more caught up on the slash running along his calf and the way he’s bleeding all over one of your good towels.
“Why are your calves or thighs always fucked up when you come to me?”
Dick shrugs, makes a noncommittal sound. “I lead with my legs.”
“Mhm,” you cut him a look. “I like the way you almost gave me a panic attack by the way.”
He looks up at you then, blue eyes flashing with no small amount of embarrassment.
“I did not do that on purpose!”
NOTES: Short and to the point, Hope you enjoyed!!
I had to post something before the month ended so ta-da! This was really just me playing around with writing Dick on his own (more so with his YJ animated characterization) than anything.
btw: this is quite a short story, I know, but you can still write a lil comment if you want to.

I'm going to need to know your FULL opinion on the erosion of Elektra Natchios in The Red Fist Saga ASAP!
OOF. Okay, here goes...
Elektra's role in the Red Fist Saga directly follows the Woman Without Fear mini-series, so I feel like I should start there, especially since I haven't really talked about it yet on this blog. Woman Without Fear was an Elektra solo comic that came out just as Devil's Reign was ending and the creative team was gearing up for the Red Fist Saga. The mini-series's purpose was to introduce big, shocking changes to Elektra's origin story. These changes didn't end up having much to do at all with the Red Fist Saga, or with anything else really, but they did functionally strip her of her agency and autonomy and made her motivations instead revolve around Matt. Now, Elektra's origin story has changed before. Frank Miller himself gave us three versions: the original, introduced in Daredevil volume 1 #168 and #190, a slight variation in Elektra: Assassin (he changed the timeline a bit and modified the character of Elektra's father), and then an entirely new, in my opinion much less interesting version in Man Without Fear-- which was not intended to be part of the 616 continuity, though that didn't stop later writers from drawing from it, including Zdarsky, who seems to have used it as a core text to inform his characterization of Elektra in general.
I know you know Elektra's original origin story, but I'll provide the general gist for anyone who might be unfamiliar: Elektra Nachios was the daughter of a rich Greek diplomat and his wife. Her mother was gunned down by assassins while pregnant, but Elektra survived. Her father, now paranoid and fearful, put Elektra in martial arts classes from a young age, while also keeping her sheltered to protect her from harm. She ended up attending college in the US, where she met Matt Murdock, another sheltered kid with a beloved but overprotective father. They fell in love, but the magic was destroyed when Elektra and her father were taken hostage by terrorists. Matt tried to be a hero, and Elektra's father ended up getting killed. Shattered by grief, Elektra left school and traveled across the world to train with Stick, who had trained her childhood martial arts teacher before casting him out (in Elektra: Assassin, the timeline is slightly different; Elektra trained with Stick before attending Columbia, though the end result is the same). Stick saw Elektra's skill, but judged that she was too emotionally compromised to complete the training and kicked her out. Elektra devised a desperate plan to prove herself to Stick: infiltrating the Hand and taking them down from the inside. She failed tragically. Turned cynical by grief and hardship, she used the skills she had picked up from all of her training as weapons to protect herself from a harsh and unforgiving world. She carved herself a life from the tragedies she had endured. She became an assassin.
Note that I mentioned Matt's name a grand total of two times in that synopsis. It's not to say that Matt isn't important to Elektra, of course he is, but he isn't that important to her origin story. The star of this beautiful tragedy is Elektra, as she should be.
Woman Without Fear introduces something new-- at least, new to the comics (more on that in a moment). It takes the Elektra: Assassin timeline and suggests that she trained with Stick when she was still a child. (It also brings in things from the Man Without Fear Elektra origin, but I don't think I'm going to get into that here because that is a whole other rant and this post is long and tangent-y enough already). It then suggests that when Stick rejected her, she still ended up with the Hand-- but not of her own will, with the intention of destroying them. No! She was successfully recruited. And once the Hand had her in their clutches, they sent her out to go after another target: Matt Murdock. In this shiny new backstory, Elektra and Matt run into each other at college not as two kindred spirits, but because Elektra was ordered to hang out with him in order to bag him for the Hand...before, oh no!, accidentally falling in love with him. To add extra insult to this character assassination, we're told in the main series that even her behavior during her father's hostage situation was intended as a test for Matt.
What this change indicates to me is a fundamental lack of understanding of Elektra's character; or worse, a lack of respect for her complexity, or a conviction that she operates at her best as a tool to further Matt's narrative.
What is possibly most baffling to me about all of this is that this change had pretty much no bearing on the Red Fist Saga. Why was it made? What was the point? The term "MCU-ification", referring to changes being made in Marvel's comics that seem aimed at aligning them more closely with the MCU, gets thrown around a lot-- possibly too much-- but this really does seem like a case where there's no other clear explanation for the change other than to shift 616 Elektra's backstory closer to that of her live action counterpart. (In the Netflix show, Elektra recruited Matt for Stick; something I, as a huge Stick and Elektra fan, actually thought was a cool What If?/alternate universe because it presented an opportunity to explore a different take on their relationship). The new backstory is mentioned a few times in the main Daredevil series, but otherwise it seems irrelevant to the plot. And that's because Elektra herself is kind of irrelevant to the plot. She seems to have three purposes in this story: 1. To serve alongside Stick as an exposition machine and provide details about the Hand/Fist/Pinky Toe/etc.; 2. To be someone Matt loves and thinks about in moments of danger and conflict (despite the fact that they have very few moments of actual emotional connection in this story, despite getting married!), and 3. As a warm body onto which Matt can project his perpetual internal musings on good and evil ("Elektra was Bad, but she is Good now. She, like all people who have done bad things, is still worthy of God's love and is capable of rehabilitation, and look! Her decision to take on the Daredevil identity is proof that she is now Good! She has become a worthy soldier of God." Man, I wish I was exaggerating.)
Elektra's appearances in Daredevil comics have always centered around Matt to some degree, simply because it is his comic. There's miles of difference between reading a DD comic with Elektra cameos and reading an Elektra solo series. But that doesn't mean it isn't frustrating to have comics like the Blackman/Del Mundo run, or the Dark Reign solo tie-in, that delve so deeply into Elektra's rich psyche, that truly do look at her worldview in a way that is complex and morally difficult and so, so compelling, and then to have comics like this where she barely even feels present because so little effort has been made to do anything other than slap some vague morality lessons onto her and make sure she and Matt sleep together every other issue.

Re: 4x01′s characterization
I loved seeing Soren be goofier in spite of being older because it’s clear he’s so comfortable with everyone in ways he wasn’t before (even if he’s understandably a little wary of pissing Callum off). This is who he’s become surrounded by people who love him and are generally willing to, if not just accept, than indulge in his joking nature rather than 1) his disapproving father and 2) trying to always live up to Viren’s expectations. Soren accidentally spills the beans about Harrow in 1x01 and Viren angrily shuts him down / doesn’t really let him apologize, even when it’s a genuine accident. And even though Corvus is somewhat annoyed / not thrilled that Soren has come up with a “thwart a coup” cover lie, he still goes along with it and does his best to help out. It’s just really nice to see how much Soren’s changing environment has helped him grow into his softer side. Although things aren’t perfect, you can see that he’s 100% happier now than he used to be
I liked seeing the way the council was set up to clearly be the most enjoyable, comfortable thing for Ezran possible. It feels like a nice balance of him being king versus him getting to be a kid now that he’s king in peacetime rather than a world on the verge of / embroiled in outright war. Of course, particularly two years in, it’s going to be more relaxed and he’s going to get to be a bit sillier. Opeli’s softness and the way she lifted up Bait shows that she’s grown more accustomed to, and it was very sweet
Callum... catapults between being totally fine and a traumatized hot mess and that’s sort of exactly what I was expecting, even if it was super interesting to watch it play out. He’s cheerful and loving magic... until he has so much of the tiniest reason that someone is keeping something from him and he assumes it’s something Terrible. We can see he detests the idea of someone keeping something dangerous from him (and indeed, what else would he believe people would keep from him?) in the name of ‘protecting’ him by proxy. He’s also particularly paranoid about losing his brother, given that Ezran is 1) the only family he has left now that Rayla is MIA and 2) he lost Harrow precisely because his father was the king. As well as the way Soren has clearly seen enough of his temper for Callum to think 1) intimidating Soren will work and 2) that it kind of does. There’s more than a few moments where his mood changes rapidly to anger or to deep seated sadness, and I found it particularly interesting that while Callum spends most of the episode worried, he doesn’t really confide in anyone and still chooses to self-isolate from his party, only opening up (likely partially out of guilt) when his brother prompts him. He’s hanging together but you can tell he’s frightened and fragile emotionally in ways he wasn’t before - and it speaks to how he can’t even say Viren or Rayla’s names without clamming up

Hi, I'm new to Blood Brothers AU and I was curious about it. Can you explain about it or show me where I can see the best explanation about it?
ohhh, dear asker, the rabbit hole i'm about to send you down... >:)
alright let me try and explain it in the most coherent way possible, it's late at night BUT i will try my best!!!
explanation under the cut!
(in general, if you're new to the bb au like this asker and trying to find your way around this overwhelming hell of an au we've concocted, i recommend you start here :D)
wow. i tried SO HARD to make this a semi-concise explanation and YET it somehow turned into a mini-fic in itself towards the end there. sighhh... (lol even still, have fun reading!)
first thing's first i need to tell you aboutttt
The Parallel World / "Better World".
in journal 3, ford mentions visiting a parallel dimension in which stan never pushed him into the portal, and instead took his journal and hid it as ford had requested.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ some screenshots to give you the basic gist of what's going on in that dimension, everything you need to know for the time being. you can read more about it on internet archive if you like
at some point in august i reread this part of journal 3 and became obsessed with the idea of a parallel dimension. i also noticed that apart from mentioning how he never pushed ford into the portal and took the journal in this world, parallel stan is just... not really brought up. at all. ...which opens up some interesting possibilities.
as you can probably guess, this dimension features in the blood brothers au! in my interpretation, the reason stan was never mentioned is because after leaving with ford's journal, he never came back, just seemingly disappeared off the planet. parallel ford... has not been handling this well (and a certain bastard triangle only serves to play up his worst fears!), and because he has such a large student body to attend to and take care of and protect, he represses his issues, buries them under layers and layers of work and responsibilities. nobody even knows he has a brother...
not even his nephew and niece, dipper and mabel. however, they're observant as all hell. as secretive as ford is, they see past his little white lies, they see how he doesn't eat properly and falls asleep at his desk and laughs nervously when someone asks if he's alright. (i haven't talked much about the role they play in this au on tumblr, but rest assured i'll be elaborating more on it in my upcoming fic that may come out sometime within... um... the next few months to the next few decades. they're still the same old mystery twins we know and love, except now they've set their sights on figuring out what their grunkle ford is hiding. very Not What He Seems reminiscent)
alright, now that i've mostly covered the parallel world, time to move on to:
The Portal Stan AU
while i was obsessing over the Better World, a parallel dimension/"alternate universe" which already exists in canon, i started thinking about another AU which is fairly popular in the gravity falls fandom: the portal stan AU. in which stan, rather than ford, gets sent into the portal. thought it was a fantastic concept ever since i first saw it, because it opens so many doors for interesting characterization and also some good ol' angst (and later a healing arc, of course). portal stan has, after all, spent 40 or so years without a solid family base or anyone to care for him. and i can imagine that in those 30 years he spent dimension-hopping, his only thought was to return to his home dimension and see ford again. yes, he was furious and frustrated when they had that last argument, but surely in hindsight he saw how paranoid and jittery ford had been throughout their meeting. he would want to get back and make sure his brother was safe as soon as possible.
and then i had the thought which kicked off this entire au:
what if portal stan fucked up and somehow stumbled upon the parallel dimension while searching for a way home? what if portal stan and parallel ford... MET?
portal stan sees parallel ford and his situation and comes to the conclusion that, without him in the way, ford would flourish. parallel ford sees portal stan and comes to the conclusion that no matter the universe, he somehow manages to destroy stan's life just by being in it. even just knowing that the other exists exacerbates their own insecurities. IT'S SO AWFUL AND SO PERFECT.
also, portal stan couldn't be more desperate to get out of the parallel dimension- partly because he hates the reminder that ford would be better off without him, but mostly because he wants to see his real brother again. however, parallel ford has other plans for him. he's been in denial about the true fate of his own brother for a long time now, but he sees this version of stan and decides he can't afford to let go of him. (his own mental state is too fragile to accept the idea of losing stan again, even if this isn't his own stan. he already let go of him once after the WCT fiasco, and again after the journal incident. thrice is... thrice is too much.)
you may also be thinking "hey, smart guy, i actually DID read that screenshot you posted above while explaining the parallel dimension. it said parallel ford and fiddleford constructed a little something called a Vortex Neutralizer which allows for safe, bill-free multiversal travel. couldn't portal stan just use that to get out of there?"
yeaaah, parallel ford doesn't tell him about that!
he will do almost anything to keep stan with him. he is sinking his claws into that man begging him not to leave-
and stan hates him for it. tears into him with insult after insult. he can't stand this ford, why's he acting like he doesn't have everything he could ever want? (except, of course, he doesn't really hate him. after all, this is still stanford pines, maybe not his ford but he's certainly a ford. same old easily excitable nerd he used to tease back in high school. but stan still has his own ford to attend to, one who needs him more than anything... probably... hopefully, so he shuts out the part of him which is growing fond of parallel ford. tells himself not to think too much about this one. he hardly even knows him. he shouldn't have to bother.)
-
and yeah that's. i think that's enough information to take in in a single post. there's still plenty more going on with the au that i haven't touched on here, but hey that's just the premise! i would link you to more specific posts which will help you further acquaint yourself with the au, but it's. it's 2am and i am incredibly sleepy, so instead i will simply provide you with the link to the blog archive, where you can look at all the posts on here without having to scroll endlessly trying to find specific things. enjoy!!!
if you have any more questions DON'T BE AFRAID TO COME BOTHER ME ABOUT IT !!! i loved answering this ask... <3 been meaning to rewrite a better AU Premise Post than the one i made back in august anyway lol

SLENDERVERSE CHARACTERS: giving you a hug!! (Everyman HYBRID ver.)
Warnings: BLOOD, fluff, lore spoilers, mentions of violence, habit
Characters featured: Vinny, Jeff, Evan, Damsel/Stephanie, Alex, HABIT, Slenderman
Vinny Everyman
Tumblr media
Bear hug, every time
Homie doesn’t even think, he just sees you and pounces
He’s so warm too
Industrial space heater
Cuddles get a lil tough because of that
He’s so sweet though
Always loosens his grip if he thinks you’re getting uncomfortable
Will accidentally hit his glasses on yours's (if you have them)
“You’re finally here!”
Jeff Koval
Tumblr media
At the beginning of your relationship, he’s anxious towards affection
But when he’s comfortable, he’s comfortable
Will be behind with you at every moment he gets weirdly paranoid, hugging you close
Sometimes, when he gets so anxious he can’t sleep, he’ll stay up so late it’ll mess up his sleep schedule, he’s very affectionate when he’s sleepy
“I’m so tired, please don’t let go of me.”
Evan
Tumblr media
Before HABIT, he’s really your average college kid
Hugs before and after classes
Smiles at you during any classes you share (not a thought in his head)
He’s rather short, so usually he’s resting his head on your shoulder, but if you are even shorter, he’s definitely putting his head on top of yours
Holds you whenever you watch movies together or play video games
After HABIT, it all changes
He’s so terrified of hurting you he backs away, he’s no longer affectionate because he feels like he can’t trust his own body
This is where you step up, you reassure him that he is still deserving of love and support
He breaks down in your arms, everything is going to be okay
Even for a little while
“I don’t know what to do anymore, I don’t know what’s real.”
Stephanie
Tumblr media
(Could not find a gif of her:(
In my own opinion, damsel/Stephanie seems to be a bit more of a serious character, one who is hunting down Slender without a laugh in sight
She’s a sucker for hugs, especially if she wants to calm down after a tough day
Will be so happy if you hug her while she’s painting (be aware that you will have paint on you)
Has off days, usually when her nightmares get worse
It’s better to leave her alone on those days, she just wants to cry in frustration
After she feels better, she’ll give you a hug and ask to draw something with her
“Keep your pencil there, the shadows aren’t deep enough.”
Alex Koval
Tumblr media
Since Alex is another character we know little about, I have read his wiki and rewatched his appearances in the series, I will choose to portray him as the more timid Koval brother, one who is haunted by the events in his life. If you don’t like this characterization, please consider leaving suggestions for a better characterization, I’m always open to kind criticism.
Alex has never been in a relationship as serious as he has with you.
He holds you so dear to his heart, it almost hurts him every time he sees you go
Alex tends to talk to himself a lot, he gets picked on a lot by his colleagues for his strange behavior
But not you, you never pick on him
You are soft and kind to him, he hasn’t felt like this before
He holds you, unless the thing by his bedside is near, he gets strangely, almost aggressively distant when the scratches start appearing
One day, when you finally break and ask him why he won’t give you affection anymore, he shows his scars to you
He tells you he won’t let it happen to you
“You mean more than anything, you can’t get hurt. I won’t let it hurt you.”
HABIT
Tumblr media
Absolute little degenerate
Homie will jump on you the second you walk through the door
Will go off about everything he’s done that day, even if you want to hear it or not
Definitely hogs the bed, will not give you an INCH of blanket, he also grips on to you like you’re gonna fly away
I’m so sorry if you like cooking, he will come up behind you and scare you before hugging you
On a more positive note, he deeply enjoys dancing around in the kitchen, Frank Sinatra playing in the background, it’s one of the few times the both of you feel content
“Humans are so soft.”
Slenderman
Tumblr media
My depiction of Everyman Hybrid slender is a slightly more modern creature than a puritan eldritch, like, he’s still been around (and smart) for a long time, but he’s learned to stick with the times. This also helps me put together some of his hijinks in the series.
He does not give hugs !!!
He is pure evil !!!!
But I choose to ignore that !!
He has extremely long limbs perfect for hugging
Def will make you climb him like a tree to hug you though, out of spite
He also is a gentleman who will always ask for your consent before initiating larger displays of affection
Plays music while you cuddle, but not like classical, he listens to the smiths.
Look at him and tell me this isn’t a Smiths fan
If you give him a lil kiss he’ll be very happy it’s heartwarming
“*silence*”
Thank you for reading! I’ll be working on creepypasta content too, Laughing Jack is on the list (my personal favorite), but I need recommendations!! Who would you like to see in future posts regarding creepypasta?

OK SO. TO KEEP THINGS SEMI - COHERENT. i'll be listing the dsm 5 criteria [and their listed descriptions] that paper meets and explaining how so. WELCOME GIRLIES, TO THE PAPER II BPD ESSAY
fun fact, people with did very commonly also have bpd !! a lot of symptoms tend to overlap with eachother, and both disorders stem off of similar causes. i myself am someone with both bpd and did :3 paper is a character i can see a lot of my experiences with both disorders in. also im gonna color code sorry guys. DISCLAIMER i am not good at wording things i may not say things how i want them to come out
there is also not really much to in depth go off of due to paper not being on screen very much throughout season 1 and when he is, his arc moreso centers around him and ep, not giving much room to gather things about him as a character. also the season one writing just kind of Sucks in terms of like. its ability to take super deep looks into the characters. as such, some things may be a bit of a reach, and others may not have as much information to back up the symptom as others do
THAT ALL OUT OF THE WAY, we now begin.
ABANDONMENT REACTION: Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. throughout season one after he rejoins, paper does everything he can to keep oj happy with him [ this will be mentioned recurringly, as his relationship with oj is a big part of his character and thus a big part of his bpd coding as well ], going as far to throw bomb at a cactus to save him from it, and tells oj to go on without him after he himself gets stuck, though gets upset when oj does actually leave without him.
PARANOIA AND DISSOCIATION: Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms. this part may be a bit of a reach, but is still worth talking about. people with bpd often dissociate in times of stress, which paper is shown to do, especially visible when apple taunts him with the phrase ' idiotic island ' repeatedly. this one is also one of earlier mentioned overlaps between paper's did and bpd symptoms.
EMOTIONAL INSTABILITY: Affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability, or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and rarely more than a few days). especially so shown after his elimination [ both in terms of idiotic island AND rejoin ] paper is shown to have frequent moments of emotional instability. most of these moments are regarding anger, which is shown at multiple points, for example when he lashes out at knife. he's also shown to have moments of intense sadness, often being self deprecation and feeling like a bad person, most usually being after an instance of evil paper coming out.
INTENSE/INAPPROPRIATE ANGER: Inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights). it's easy to see that paper has anger issues, as explained in the last segment. he often lashes out at his fellow contestants, and mephone as well. another point regarding this is how angry and violent ep is. this part is shorter, due to his anger issues being previously mentioned, and also generally just very obvious and frequent. i'd rather not go through and write about every single instance of him getting angry.
UNSTABLE RELATIONS/IDEALIZATION AND DEVALUATION: A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation. first, let's take a look at knife and paper's relationship. paper and knife are shown to be friends at first, with paper even ditching a challenge to hang out with him. after knife drops items on him, causing his elimination, paper is shown to resent him for the betrayal. this anger remains for the entirety of his time until he sees knife again, to which he then gets his revenge on him. knife is annoyed by this, and scolds paper for still being upset about that after 20 months from the incident.
now, back to oj and paper. paper quickly latches onto oj after rejoining, taking almost every chance he can to do something to make oj happy with him, such as when listed before when he killed bomb to help oj in the desert, and of course when he carries him through the competition. the few conflicts the two had, he either quickly patched things up or insisted that what caused said conflict was to help oj out.
people with bpd tend to have something called a favorite person, often shortened to fp. a fp is held at high standards, often being seen as the person with bpd's most important person in their life. people with bpd tend to desire to spend most of their time with their fp, and end up being very clingy. it is safe to assume oj is paper's fp.
UNSTABLE SELF IMAGE: Identity disturbance, markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self. paper is shown to have a very unstable sense of self. he focuses on what other people want from him, acting in ways he feels will make them the happiest. paper also frequently changes his opinions on people, sometimes of which is caused by previously mentioned focusing on what others want from him.
UNLESS I ADD MORE OR CHANGE THINGS LATER, this concludes my ramble. be normal about this please

im so so so normal about victor “has seen the horrors of war & watched young men and civilians die as a result of other mens’ violence and aggression” creel who loves his “sensitive child” as a son not in spite of him being sensitive but BECAUSE of it. like when he’s talking about henry in pennhurst, he doesn’t say “sensitive child” in a cruel or mocking or disapproving way- he says it in a fond and kind way. victor, being happy that his son is sensitive and shy and artistic rather than aggressive and brash and stereotypically “manly”. like hell, i feel like a lot of people who do a surface level watch of ST really want to push victor into this gruff, hopper or lonnie esque manly man box when that’s not what we’re shown in the show. like sure, victor’s still a 50s family man, but he’s gentle and affectionate with his kids, like even in the few interactions we see, he’s reaching out to Alice when they get out of the car, and smiling when she runs upstairs, and at the dinner table, he makes sure to smile at both Henry and Alice, whereas Virginia pointedly only smiles at Alice. We also see Victor sitting by the fireplace reading, rather than doing stereotypically “manly” things like playing sports or going out for beers or whatever other “manly” hobby.
Like, victor and henry are so similar with both being sensitive, fairly quiet guys with “nerdy”/not traditionally masculine hobbies (reading vs drawing), and victor, canonically, loved his sensitive child of a son & speaks of him fondly.
(not that reading is feminine LMAO but based on dumb stereotypes)
We do get that “manly” scene of him on the porch with the shotgun, but even that is a.) framed as him protecting his family out of necessity and b.) it’s not framed as being a Epic Manly Man With A Shotgun- Victor looks scared during that scene, he’s not trying to show off, he actually looks a lot like he does during his fireplace PTSD scene, which makes sense because the gun & the being on guard/paranoid feeling when looking for the wildcat/whatever was killing the animals would likely trigger his PTSD.
I’m not saying Victor is super mega feminine whatsoever, but i AM saying that it’s inaccurate to characterize him as being annoyed/disdainful towards henry’s sensitivity when that’s simply not the case & when victor himself also seems quite “sensitive.” Hell, when we look at the dates in the dear billy script, he gouged his out on the exact day that he would’ve found out that henry “died” (since henry “died” a week after the murders, which is exactly when victor gouged his eyes out.) He loved Henry SO much, and he’s not some gruff hopper or lonnie 2.0 or even a ted 2.0- if anything, he’s most frequently paralleled to joyce. Joyce, who also loves her sensitive, artistic son.
