house md 2024 headcanons 🫡
hi loves!! jumping on this trend :^) i don't think any of these make sense but they made me laugh soooo here u go
House has a very bad pain day and (when pushed) says that he strained the muscle while riding his bike. Obviously nobody believes him, so the ducklings + Wilson spend the day trying to figure out what he did and end up finding security footage of him attempting to hit the griddy in the morgue
Kutner has a very generic inspirational quotes tumblr blog (he’s so proud of it) and House finds it and just starts dropping quotes from it in DDXs to mess with him & then acting all innocent
Thirteen has a secret thirst trap tiktok acc that doesn’t explicitly show her face but has her lab coat & maybe stethoscope. When Chase suggests that it’s her she doesn’t confirm or deny it and just keeps winking. Cameron definitely follows the account after this. Thirteen pretends not to realise.
Wilson takes a uquiz to find out what sort of cheese he is and is devastated when it says he’s cheddar. He then has an identity crisis because he thinks he’s too bland and tries to reinvent his aesthetic, leading to one infected eyebrow piercing and a tramp stamp that’s never mentioned again. Potential there for a sappy scene where House tells him he's anything but bland.
Cuddy starts a momblog style podcast. House sends anonymous hate. Taub guest stars.
I think Taub would get deeply into ASMR. Like it’d start with him finding and playing a video of ASMR triggers for his daughters, then he tries it himself to see if that calms them down even more, etc etc. He starts a youtube channel and it blows up. He gets recognised by patients at the hospital. It goes to his head just a little. He unironically uses the term 'ASMRtist'
A cosplayer has a mysterious illness and the team has to go to a convention to test for environmental factors. Chase is apprehensive but House forces him to go. He’s quickly recognised at the convention and it turns out that he has a cosplay instagram account and they get stopped every 10 mins to take pictures. No one lets him live it down
Thirteen and Cameron kiss & fall in love & babysit Taub's kids. House makes relentless jokes but is quietly very fond of them and their relationship. Pls i need this
Foreman has a twitter/X account where he posts a combination of work out tips/inspirational quotes (not as sweet as Kutner's blog, more grindset vibes yknow) but he gets mixed up in a pyramid scheme for protein powders and gets cancelled. Also potential for a sappy scene here where Foreman says he admires Kutner for not letting House's teasing about his blog get to him. They're besties now and make each other better.
Cuddy forces all of them to go on a wellness retreat. House and Wilson make a bet to see who can go the longest without speaking. It's not even a silent retreat, they're just like that. Also someone convinces Chase that the utility shed on the retreat is haunted.
The wellness retreat no speaking bet also def has potential for gay chicken. Like Wilson kisses House to see if that will get him to lose the bet. By the next morning neither of them know or care who lost the bet, they leave their room looking Extremely disheveled and return to the hospital very much together. Cuddy is not at all surprised. She planned this. Each of the ducklings hand her $100.

Cowboy AU/ Wild West (it’s giving Red Dead Redemption)
New Fanfic for ATEEZ boys. I got no clue yet if it’s gonna be mature quite possibly but we get there when we get there. For now, I’ll be giving warning here if there is a chance of those things. Please enjoy!

You worked in your family's Inn, attending to the patrons who came and went. The Illusion Inn was built by your grandfather when he had left his hometown in search of work. This was back when the town was barely putting in the cobblestone roads and better infrastructures. When the revolution started hitting closer, the Inn was the first one to house all the workers who were coming to better the city.
Now though, it wasn’t often that people would stay longer than a day or two, they were only traders moving along to sell their things. You had the select few who had some jobs to do in the area and stayed for longer, but most often than not the hotel always had at least one room open.
It made working there a lot easier for you seeing as you had three other siblings ranging in age from 20 to 6. The eldest were all placed to work around in some capacity which made the load that much easier to handle. Since being the oldest you were told to manage the front desk as well as the bar while your father was busy handing out drinks to the men who were often seen coming in just for alcohol.
Being a waitress for the saloon part of the hotel meant you got to meet people of all kinds of class. As well as stories from different parts of the country. Each patron came in with outlandish stories about their journey by horse to Cromer or the gangs they met along the way.
It was the time in history where so many people found it easier to steal and kill for things rather than do work themselves. Everyone was struggling to some extent. No one was safe from poverty when it came to building a society that was barely starting.
“I think the outlaw is moving this way,” Some man spoke to your father behind the bar counter. “I heard he shot up a bar in Sharpstown. You better be careful with your family.”
Your father met your eyes as you placed a tray full of empty glasses on the bar. You carried on with your work though, moving to clean the cups you had just cleaned up.
It was hard to miss the large wanted poster that was plastered nearly on every building in town. The bold Dead or Alive really caught everyone's attention. While it wasn’t uncommon to find a wanted poster of someone, it was rare to have the government want them dead or alive. You must have done something extreme to reach that point.
“Don’t worry about me, John.” Your father told the man politely. “I’ve seen plenty of outlaws come and go here. You just have to know what to serve them.”
You pursed your lips to keep from giggling at your father. You moved around him to get some empty bottles of liquor before going back to pick up more dirty dishes. It was a rather tame day due to being the middle of the week, so the saloon of the Inn wasn’t really packed. It was easy to forget about the outlaw and his travels.
It was around the time the saloon closed for the night and your younger siblings had all gone to bed that things seemed to change within the air. Your mother was moving things around inside preparing to lock the door for the night, when the sound of horses caught both of your attention.
You saw your mother pause at the door, moving the stopper to hold it open herself. She spoke some words to someone outside before moving to allow them room to enter. You were quick to put the cash from the day into a box, locking it to keep the two men from seeing just how much you actually had.
There were two of them, their styled boots hitting the wood flooring with a loud stomp. When they had walked through the threshold, they immediately glanced around the area, assessing the place.
You weren’t one to shy away from your opinion on people. As a child you would oftentimes get in trouble because you would openly make faces at people. As you grew older and started working with the patrons of the inn you learned how to be more subtle about it. So while these men assessed the inn you took the moment to assess them.
The tallest one walked ahead of the other, seemingly messing with the bands around his wrists. He only took a glance around the lobby before heading in your direction with purpose. He had a slim face with high cheekbones. The clothes he wore were meant to withstand the weather. He was decked out in leather and cowboy boots.
The other however walked with his shoulders squared, eyes moving about in search of something he might not like. Unlike the tall man, this one had a more stern expression on his face, he looked mature. He wore just about the same clothing as the other, however his pants seemed to stretch over thighs a bit tighter.
It was especially hard to miss the police badges on their chest as you eyed them up. When they reached you, you had to look up as the man spoke to you first.
“We would like a room.” He told you.
The Inn was technically closed for the night so you couldn’t give them a room until the morning. You glanced at your mother first, the woman giving you a nod.
“Just one?” You asked, glancing behind him to his partner.
“Just one. With two beds if possible.” He didn’t dare to move his eyes from you as you stared him down.
He didn’t speak more on the subject, but you knew he was coming up with conclusions on his own about the place he had just entered. It left a bubbling feeling in the pit of your stomach to think this person would assume you or your family would bring harm to anyone. Maybe you would if threatened.
“(Y/N).” Your mother cleared her throat. “Please give these kind officers the room in the back.”
“Of course.” You told her, moving along to get the key you needed.
“Follow me.” You told them, not waiting to see if they had listened. You could hear their boots clicking on the floor so you knew they had.
The room was on the first floor towards the back of the Inn. With the building stationed on closer to the outer limits of the town, the view from the windows was of the meadows and neighborhoods. Your grandfather had chosen the area to make it easier for travelers who came by horse or foot to find rest faster. Your home wasn’t that far, which meant oftentimes you all would walk back for a rest.
“I am the attendant for the night.” You told them in a rehearsed voice. “Should you need anything, I will be in the front.”
With that you immediately left the room and back towards the front with a shiver going down your spine. They weren’t dangerous men from what you could feel, but they still left you with an uneasy feeling.
“I’m going to head home now.” Your mother told you. “Be careful. You know where the gun is.”
It wasn’t the first time it was your turn to take over the night shift. When your parents deemed you old enough to attend to the hotel alone, they took rest and shifted the load. There were other employees as well but they still put you down as someone to watch over the inn. Besides, compared to others they trusted you a bit more.
It was midnight when you had finished going over the inventory and had decided to go to sleep in the backroom for the night shift worker. Before taking a nap though, you made your rounds around the inn to make sure there was nothing out of the ordinary.
As you passed the two police officers bedroom, there was some shuffling heard but not enough to cause suspicion. Maybe they had still been awake. You shrugged your shoulders and moved along to take your rest.
That was short lived when around 3 in the morning there was a lot of noise going on outside of the window. There was a good amount of cursing and arguments of trying to keep others quiet as whoever the group was seemed to move along the hotel's side.
You kept the light off, hoping the street lamps would illuminate the aggressors. All you could make out were silhouettes cluttered at the end of the hotel. You tried to quietly open the window to peak your head out to get a better view.
The building stretched for a good amount so the group hadn’t caught sight of you peeking in at them. You quickly glared when you noticed them huddled at the window that was meant for the last bedroom of the floor. It was the room where the officers were staying.
With outlaws in mind, you were quick to put on your boots and a cardigan to cover up your pajamas. You rushed to the front lobby, doing a double take on the rifle leaning against the wall by the door. You made haste to grab it before rushing out of the lobby and into the foggy night.
When you turned the corner, you raised the gun aiming it towards whoever you could. Before you could shoot to alert others, the last person seemed to have made their way into the window ungracefully. You cursed to yourself quickly rushing to see where they had entered.
“Hey!” You screamed, rushing forward with the gun aimed right into the bedroom. Your eyes went wide as the barrel pushed into the stomach of the tall officer from earlier in the day.
His arms were stretched above his head as he was about to shut the window. His eyes went wide as well when he realized someone was looking into the room. He moved to the side in a panic, eyes searching for his leader on what to do.
As he moved out of the way, you noticed there were more men in the room than you cared to admit. You were more worried about how they all fit into the small space if anything. While your eyes scanned over all of them, you counted 6 new people in total. However the ones that seemed to stop you from scolding them were the two who seemed to be bleeding profusely.
There was one on a bed, more than likely staining the sheets that made you internally cringe at having to buy new ones. Another was holding onto his shoulder as he seemed to sit across from the one sprawled out on the mattress.
Just as your wide eyes swept back over the other men, your eyes caught the blue haired man who was looking at you with squinted eyes.
“Grab her.”

D&D is actually pretty good
Unless you're trying to do something that it actually sucks at
This is part 3 of my big post about why D&D, structurally, works for a very specific type of gameplay and actually resists other types of gameplay. As I have pointed out in previous parts, none of this is to say that D&D is a bad game, but that it's a very bad fit for gameplay outside of its specific niche and might not produce meaningful or desirable gameplay when twisted into other types of narratives.
In the first part I discussed the terminology that I'm using, namely the two different playstyles of Challenge Mode and Story Mode, and in the second part I talked about what it is about D&D's structure that makes it a good fit for Challenge Mode. In brief, D&D has many parts that allow for meaningful gameplay to emerge simply from developing system mastery, allowing players to make meaningful assessments of risk and reward. You can find the previous posts here:
Part 1: Terminologie
Part 2: What is it that D&D actually do?
This third part will be covering what it is about D&D's mechanics and structure that make it not great for Story Mode gameplay. Once again I will be tagging this as #the big damn post for easier finding.
Part 3: Mismatched Expectations
D&D is fun as a game. It has a very clear gameplay loop of going into a place where there is danger, overcoming that danger, being rewarded with better abilities, and thus being able to overcome greater dangers, rinse and repeat. That gameplay loop can be in and of itself fun and rewarding.
Problems arise when that gameplay loop is placed on top of an extended narrative with greater stakes. D&D's rules are a great fit for narratives about some fellas going into a dangerous place and engaging with that danger for the sake of reward. It is very good when placed in the hands of players for whom the gameplay loop itself is its own reward and who are thus willing to engage with the gameplay on its own terms.
But okay, what is it specifically about D&D's rules that clashes against Story Mode gameplay?
Firstly, resource management and the adventuring day does not model rising action very well. Rising action refers to the rising narrative tension leading up to a climax when the tension is finally resolved. In a way the D&D adventuring day (which can be variable in length depending on edition but let's be fair even though 5e claims it's supposed to be 6 to 8 encounters long it doesn't actually work out like that in actual play lmao) represents rising action: tension rises throughout the adventuring day as player characters have their resources taxed, and thus the gameplay becomes more risky. However, this rarely leads to a satisfying climax because players will either choose to rest and recover their resources. DM's can of course always arrange for a narrative contrivance to take away the players' ability to rest, but more often than not this won't actually achieve the desired result. It will result in greater tension, yes, but it comes with its own dangers.
But by default, the game expects players to be able to make the meaningful decision to rest and recover their resources, although this often comes with its own opportunity costs as well as the risks inherent in either resting in a dungeon or returning to home base to recover. By default players have access to a method of resolving rising action themselves. This is intentional, which is why I refer to denying players access to this as a contrivance.
As said, the DM can arbitrarily deny access to recovery to amp up the tension until the last encounter of the adventuring day, a type of "boss fight" if you will. Here once again D&D's structure butts heads with the desires of the narrative: while a boss fight that resolves the tension can be narratively satisfying, it is a very risky proposition for a group that has been denied access to rest and recovery. This easily risks a total party kill due to the inherent swinginess of D&D's resolution, which can jeopardize the story.
The easy solution to making sure the players have a chance of surviving the boss fight at the end of a long adventuring day as a means of resolving tension is to make the boss fight easier than the previous fights. Which runs counter to the demands of the narrative. The boss fight should be more of a challenge, not less of a challenge than the guards posted outside of their chambers.
This is where we see D&D's challenge game, soft sim nature butt heads with story structure: D&D has an inbuilt story structure of players being able to take on challenges on their own terms, taxing their own resources, the tension rising naturally due to their resources being taxed, and with players having access to the pressure release in the form of choosing to rest and recover.
You may have noticed that all of my examples thus far assume that the ultimate cost of failure is death. Now, while D&D does have the tools for representing consequences other than death, all of the meaningful consequences amount to the loss of resources that relate to Challenge Mode. D&D does not quantify the emotional impact of the loss of their loved ones, nor the sting of being rejected by the one you love, but it does model the loss of spell slots and hit points and torches throughout the adventuring day. Taxing resources like hit points is the most meaningful way the game provides for modeling defeat, so players will be losing them, bringing them closer to 0 hit points and thus risking death.
I say risking death because while 4e and 5e allow for the blow that sends you to 0 hit points to be a nonlethal one and thus only render you unconscious (but in 5e it is only allowed for melee attacks), the default assumption is that a blow that takes you to zero hit points is potentially a lethal one. Enemies may have their reasons for not immediately killing characters that fall unconscious, but they would have very little reason to stabilize characters that are already dying. Outside of narrative editing, character death is always a real possibility in D&D.
Now, death being a consequence isn't in and of itself a bad thing. It's a great way to add tension. But the way D&D models death, as the default consequence for accidentally going into a fight you weren't expecting to be that tough while not at your full resources, produces narratives that most people playing in Story Mode generally don't want. And that's also why arbitrarily denying players access to their resources also produces an extra risk of death and is, like, actually pretty Bad and Not Good.
D&D's model of death always being on the table runs counter to the expectations of Story Mode. Deaths can happen even in the most incidental encounter, which can be frustrating. However, beyond a certain point in D&D death simply becomes a temporary obstacle. As long as the group has a character who can cast Raise Dead and enough gold (and in most editions of D&D characters have less to spend money on than they have money available) players have a rules-mediated way of removing death. Thus, the only meaningful consequence for failure in the game is robbed of narrative weight.
The only option is the dreaded total party kill, which is not desirable because it completely breaks narrative continuity. Outside of narrative editing it forces the group to create a whole new cast of characters, thus breaking whatever personal continuity the story thus far had.
To reiterate: D&D doesn't model meaningful consequences for failure beyond losing combat, because it is a combat-centric game. Losing in combat is often lethal and there are no guardrails to protect characters from meaningless death in a low stakes fight. The DM can not effectively build tension with multiple combats that then gets resolved in a climactic fight without risking a total party kill and the loss of narrative continuity. This leads to a story structure where the party has to keep on winning in order for the narrative to continue.
And that is supremely narratively satisfying. If players can't ever meaningfully fail (because the only meaningful rules-mediated consequence of failure is death) then every twist in the narrative has to be extrinsic to the player characters. This risks giving off the impression that the player characters are hypercompetent and the world around them is constantly getting into trouble that only the player characters can fix. Which can often feel contrived.
None of this is to say that satisfying narratives can't emerge out of D&D gameplay, but those narratives will emerge almost incidentally, without actual help from the game itself. For every story of the rules coming to save the day by sheer providence you will hear another story of accidental TPKs that ended up bringing the campaign crashing down or a group ignoring the rules themselves or fudging the results for the sake of a satisfying narrative. Which, again, goes to show that the rules themselves resist satisfying narratives, because if the rules themselves produced the types of narratives the group desires they wouldn't need to ignore the rules, right?
Anyway, that's it for now. The next and final part will discuss what can be done to resolve these issues. Warning: my advice mostly boils down to "accept that D&D is a challenge game and play it to its strengths" or "play another game that better supports your desired narrative structures," but like idk you can also house rule D&D all the way to hell if you like, I'm not your boss.

Hello! Here's the 'Revista GQ' interview from GQ in English, translated by yours truly 💖 enjoy!
Gavi, against the El Clásico: “We know the pressure we are under as we wear the Barça shirt and it’s important to have a strong mentality to withstand it”.
To say that Gavi is a promise to Spanish football it’s an understatement. He is young, yes, a little more than 19 years old, but at his age, he already managed to consolidate himself as a reference in the Barça and Spanish National Team midfield. The future is his. So is the present.
The genealogical line of great midfielders from the FC Barcelona youth team that reaches Gavi - the modern one, we are not going to go back to the times when football was played walking -, starts from a now almost forgotten Luis Milla - who signed for the Real Madrid in 1990 did not exactly help him go down in the history of the Blaugrana club—it follows with a certain Pep Guardiola, continues with the current Barça coach, Xavi Hérnandez, and ends with the very young player who stars in these lines: Pablo Martín Páez Gavira or, simply, Gavi (Los Palacios y Villafranca, Seville, 2004).
On that number 6 that the Sevillian wears, and that curiously Xavi also carried on his back, lies all the weight and responsibility not only for the team's victories but also for preserving the style, that intangible heritage of the club that they treasure in the Camp Nou with the same greed as its Leagues or Champions Leagues, and with which the culés like to ruin the victories of others, if they do not respond to that slow play, possession of the ball and touch to the foot. So a player like Gavi is naturally asked to help the team win titles; but, above all, that, like a chef de cave or a master distiller, he ensures that the mix, different each season, of players of different ages and origins that make up the FC Barcelona squad, always has the same aroma and the same flavor. The same style.
Too much responsibility for a kid who is barely 19 years old? From what is seen on the field, both in his club and in the National Team - with which he debuted on September 30, 2021, and in which he also acts as guardian of a style, the famous tiki taka - it does not seem so. While it is true that young players increasingly show greater self-confidence on the field - perhaps because the adolescence and maturity of athletes, like that of the rest of the kids, has come a little earlier - Gavi's performance is from another galaxy. Not in vain, he has been compared since he made his debut in the First Division, on August 29, 2021 against Getafe CF, with his current coach, Xavi Hernández. Both are technical and elegant, although Gavi probably has a tougher profile as well. Unlike Xavi, who inherited a squad at its peak, Gavi has had a club in bankruptcy and under construction, entangled in great sporting and economic difficulties. Which did not prevent him from winning LaLiga last season.
We photographed him just after playing a street party with some kids in a sports center in Santa Coloma de Gramanet (and giving them, in the process, the surprise of their lives), as part of an action by his sponsor Nike. Due to their age, one of those kids could one day replace Gavi himself in the midfield, or even play side by side with him. For now, that future of the club belongs to its current number 6, and it is in his hands to lead another glorious era like that of Messi, Iniesta, Pujol, Piqué and Busquets, under the command of the current Pedri , Ferran, Yamal or Balde. Although what he has in front of him, for the moment, is a very brilliant present.
INTERVIWER: You have relatively recently completed your first 100 games for Barcelona. What assessment do you make? What grade would you give yourself as a player?
GAVI: It is an incredible mark. I always dreamed of playing in the Barça first team and having already played 100  games is something impressive. I hope to accomplish many more. I'm not one to give myself notes. I am still a young player with a lot of room for growth. My goal is to continue working hard to continue improving as a footballer every day.
I: Last year you received the Kopa Trophy that France Football magazine awards to the best young player of the year. What does such an award mean to you?
G: It was an incredible recognition, but even if it was awarded to me it would have been impossible to achieve it without the help of all my colleagues. I am very grateful to all of them, to the staff that helps me continue improving every day and in general to the club that has always trusted me. It is another motivation to win these types of prestigious awards and that invites me to continue fighting to go as far as possible in my career.
I: When you see yourself as a footballer, what do you think you need to improve or learn?
G: As I said, I'm still very young, so both the coach, the staff and my teammates help me in every training session to continue improving as a footballer. I always try to listen to them and put their advice into practice without giving up my personality as a footballer.
I: Were you a Xavi fan when you were a child?
G: Yes of course. Xavi has been one of Barça's best players and one of the best midfielders in the history of football. It was impossible not to be a fan of his... I always loved watching him play and seeing how his play influenced the game.
I: Has having a legend in that position as a coach especially helpful for your progression?
G: It always helps that the coach was a footballer because he understands us perfectly. Furthermore, as I said, he is Barça history and he knows perfectly well what it means to play for this club and do so in the midfield position. His vision of football helps me a lot and he has helped me grow as a footballer since he arrived.
I: Is directing Barcelona's midfield a big responsibility for such a young player?
G: It is always a responsibility to play for Barça and especially for the midfielders, since we have to start building the game from our position. Fortunately we have a very complete squad and great players in the midfield with different virtues. We all contribute to following that style that has always characterized Barça.
I: Because of your age, you're probably playing with or against players you idolized until very recently. What is that feeling like?
G: Sharing the stage with people you dreamed of when you were little is always a nice thing... But once the referee whistles, I'm always focused 100% on the game and I forget about any distractions.
I: Who have been your idols in football?
G: Many. Fortunately, my generation has been very lucky because it grew up with a very successful moment for both the National Team and Barça when we were little. It would be very difficult to stay with just one.
I: Do you remember the Spanish team's final in South Africa well or were you too young?
G: It was small, but I remember it well. Impossible to forget Iniesta's goal …
I: You have lived your childhood in a time of great football and sports joys, instead of great frustrations. Do you think that gives a different mentality to those of your generation?
G: Since I was little I have always enjoyed playing and at the same time I have pushed myself to the maximum to win as much as possible.
I: Do Spanish players of your generation have a more winning mentality, without complexes?
G: Yes, I see that winning mentality in all the teammates who rise to the first team from youth football and also those from the National Team. The world of football is a very competitive and winning world and we all fight for the same thing, to win.
I: How did you start playing soccer?
G: I started playing for my hometown team, Liara Balompié. From there I jumped to Betis youth football where I spent a few years and when I was 10 we received a proposal from Barça and we didn't think about it.
I: Do you miss having a more normal adolescence?
G: When you do what you like, you don't think about anything other than focusing on your career as a footballer. I always dreamed of getting where I am today and I hope to continue enjoying football at this level for a long time.
I: What is your life like in Barcelona? What kinds of things do you like to do when you're not working?
G: I lead a very quiet life. I like to spend time with my family and my friends. When I'm at home I love watching football, both national and games from other leagues.
I: What hobbies do you have off the field? Do you love fashion? Do you have a favorite designers? Do you learn about fashion in the Barça locker room?
G: I like fashion, yes. What I value most is being comfortable. For example, now that I'm wearing these Air Max and this Tech Fleece tracksuit, I feel perfect. I like to dress with style, but without giving up comfort. I don't have favorite designers. It is true that in the locker room you see many styles. Each one has their own.
I: How do you get along with your locker roommates? Who has helped you the most to grow within the team and as a footballer?
G: The truth is that there is a very healthy atmosphere in the group. It is a very young team where the veterans help a lot to those who come up. I have a good relationship with all of them, so it is very difficult to stay with just one. Everyone helps me to be better every day. Just by training with them, one improves.
I: You have had to live through a transition period at Barça. How does such a young player deal with the mental issue of football defeats or disappointments? How do you stay motivated?
G: The motivation is always in the next game. Playing for Barça means always aspiring for everything, so on occasions where that doesn't happen we always have a new opportunity in three or four days to continue fighting for titles. We know the pressure we are under when wearing this shirt and it is important to have great mental strength to withstand it.
I: Who do you lean on in difficult times?
G: In my family and my friends. They never fail.
I: What did the victory in LaLiga mean to you ?
G: It was amazing. I've always dreamed of winning it and doing it after a few years was spectacular. The fans deserved it and we hope to continue offering them titles.
I: What are your personal and collective goals this season?
G: Always try to give their best and continue improving day by day. I try to contribute one hundred percent to the team so that as a collective we always go as far as possible.
I: FC Barcelona has a very powerful women's team. What do you think of the success of the Spanish women's soccer team in the World Championship?
G: It is impressive what they have achieved. Winning a World Cup is the most a footballer can aspire to and the growth that women's football has had in Spain in recent years is spectacular. I am very happy for all of them.
I: Do you think that disciplines such as sports or culture, which have a powerful speaker, should be more active when it comes to giving visibility to social problems (racism, homophobia, gender violence...)?
It is true that we have a very important speaker. Together, we have to help solve society's problems.

Day 6
Xisuma was the first one up, his first thoughts upon being up where to check on you, check the server then his messages . He followed that plan open your door to see you still asleep surrounded by your toys. Next came a server diagnostic. He checked the server for bugs, breaches in the firewall, and general disturbances. With nothing there he moved onto his messages. He'd gotten a message back from Doc questioning him about the chains, where they'd be and what they were wrapped around .
Xisuma quickly sent him a message stating that he could explain it after lunch and for Doc to meet him and Grian's. Of course he messaged Grian checking to make sure it was fine. Thankfully everything seemed to check out just fine. That meant his next issue was breakfast. He's been trying to keep it interesting for you since you've started eating more solid foods. Though today he decided something simple like pancakes and sausage would be good for you seeing as you seem to enjoy meat a lot more than he'd thought, he'd really have to do a general species assessment with you soon so he can make an accurate dietary assessment for you .
When breakfast finished up he knocked on your door opening it slowly. After making sure you were okay, he gently shook you awake leaving you disoriented regardless.
As you woke up he set up what he'd call your usual spot at the coffee table. You yawned, dragging out your usual assortment of stuffed toys and settled into your seat staring at the food tiredly. You slowly picked up your own fork and started to eat through the pre-cut food. While eating you started to wake up and you looked up to Xisuma who seemed to have a picture book.
Xisuma glanced down at you, due to a difficulty in communication he's wondering if he should teach you sign or if maybe he should ask Doc to make you a device to help you communicate if he did he hoped it would still be of use if started talking on your own, if you even chose to do so. He himself knows sign , both he and his brother learned it from time with /The Doom Slayer/ or their father. With a quiet sigh he refreshed himself with a book he'd kept. Though he would rather let you choose your own method.
Though as of now you've finished your food and you are very deserving of a bath. Following the very unsteady routine that's been put into place Xisuma helped you wash off and get dressed. Along with. Xisuma setting up your writing tools, you'd read all day yesterday so writing seems to be a perfect fit . Xisuma provided you with a book, quill, and ink then had you start with your name as well as a few other words he really wanted you to know. Those words being; Yes, No, Help, Please, Thank you, and Stop.
And you started right away with a healthy bit of issue but you were doing well regardless. Xisuma encouraged you with every right and mistake. He didn't make you feel like shit for messing up. Honestly you were starting to warm up to it . You wanted to thank him, for all that he's done this far, getting you toys, giving you a name, giving you space, taking care of you, all of it. Of course your first evdevors of showing him a paper with thank you written on it didn't play out as well as you hoped. Though you're feeling a little confident, you /want/ to speak to him.
Setting down your quill and taking Biffa and Void into your arms as you walked up to him as he worked with those odd screens again. You hesitated.. you didn't want to upset him. Looking down at the two toys in your arm you huffed, taking in a deep breath and lightly patting Xisuma's hand. He didn't notice so you tried again this time gently pulling and that got his attention.
He smiled at you, the screens disappearing. "Hi Y/N what's up? " Looking up at him you took a deep breath, your nerves starting to get the better of you. He held a hand out to you. "It's okay, take your time I'll figure out what you want, okay?" You'd have to thank him for this too it made you really happy that he was patient and willing to work to figure out what you wanted.
You take another breath steadying yourself as you squeeze the toys in your arm. " 'Suma?" You start, it makes your throat hurt and your voice quiet barely loud enough to count as a whisper. The helmet he wears does nothing but reflect back at you but behind it he's in shock. You said something ! He can hardly believe it, you actually said something and it was his name !
You fidget nearly dropping the toys, he hasn't said anything. Do you continue? Did you mess up? Is he upset? Slowly tears start to fill your eyes as you grow scared. " 'Suma? " You try again, your voice shaking as you can't gather the nerves.
He kneels placing hands on both your shoulders. You flinch and he hates it, you haven't flinched in his presence since the first couple day you were here, did he scare you ? "Sorry sorry, you're okay. What's up Y/N?"
You sniffle as he answers you. "Sorry, I wan'ed say thank you.." You stumble over your words, hating the aching feeling in your throat. It hurts but you'll manage, you always have. "You got me things and a name
thanks?" Honestly you hope you're understandable enough
Xisuma gently took you bu the shoulders and hugged you. He hates that you still flinched at the motion . But he held you tight for a moment sighing . He's never going to lose you and he doubts any of the rhermits would like that either.
You stand there almost frozen by the gesture outside of your initial flinch . He's. Not mad, in fact he seems happy? Heartwarmed? Something in that sense, and it's great!
You can hardly believe you've done it but you have
Slowly he pulls from the hug with a quiet sigh. "It's nothing Y/N really we all just want to make sure you're okay. I promise, you're just fine and I'm doing this because i care about you." He states with a nod as he ruffled your hair .
You smile some , you did good and he cares! You've never been happier hoenstly it's great! You let out a sigh of relief your tail starting to slowly settle into a way behind you .
After your small talk with Xisuma of you thanking him and saying w couple other words he got you a water and offered to take you out for lunch over to Grian's in specifics. Happily you agreed, unfortunately you could only bring one toy at first though with a little bit of pouting and asking it was still left with one . So you grabbed Void , hurrying up to Xisuma's side and grabbing his hand.
Gently he wrapped you in a cloak that draped off of him. You walk beside him as you walked over to Grian's. He knocked on the door with a sigh.
Grian happily opened the door kneeling with his arms open so he could hug you, and behind him was a very large intimidating creeper. Noticing the creeper, you backed off hiding behind Xisuma's leg. The creeper seemed to be in shock as he looked at you. You watched as he sat making himself somewhat smaller despite how difficult that task would have truly been.
Slowly Xisuma brings you inside with a small amount of worry , you look petrified. Grian kneels down to your height waving. "Hey Y/N, welcome back. My friend there Doc, he's going to get those chains off your wings and make sure you're okay." He attempted, frowning as you started to hide yourself more
Doc simply waited, the centaur sitting as he looked over at Grian and Xisuma. "So they're who you wanted me to meet? I could give them a checkup anytime soon , though I could also offer them some spare clothing. How many times have you washed just that one outfit, Xisuma?"
Xisuma sighed, glancing back at you.
"Every time, it's large enough we can get their wings in without trouble but you're right it sounds tattered. Not to mention we hardly know what they really need"
Doc nodded glancing at you, his somewhat goat-like ears twitching as he heard you make quiet but territorial sounding hisses and growls. "Do they speak? Have they shown any improvement from their previous situation?" He asked glancing between the two
" They've definitely improved and they've only just started to speak, speaking to me this morning. Though other than that it's been almost a week and they're honestly still quite jumpy and fearful. As far as I can tell they trust me and Grian, but also they haven't exactly met anyone else -" Xisuma rambled glancing down at you as your claws dug into his armour.
" If I may, I'd like to volunteer to take care of them next. If gives me time to do a check up and start figuring out exactly what kind of creature they might be , and it lets me observe their habits to make them a proper schedule" Doc states glancing at Grian
Grian hums looking between Doc and Xisuma " I don't mind waiting , if anything could start their socialising and starting to get them used to things around here especially if they're going to be a new addition"
Xisuma nods, sighing with a smile as he reaches down and places a hand on your head. " Sounds settled then Doc first then you Grian-", He glanced done at you unsure . He hoped you'd give it a chance " - Sound good Y/N? "
You shook your head no, honestly you didn't want to go with the big scary man besides he was in your territory. Why do you have to go to his? Looking over at Grian you huff. You're a little mad they're standing closer to the big guy Doc. You wanted to ask him for names.
Doc sighed, humming as he looked at your toys, he spares Xisuma a slightly knowing glance as he notes the toy from an earlier season that once belonged to Xisuma's brother . Though the robot toy, it reminds him of an older fiend but it's eye catching. " Hey Y/N? What's the name of your toys? "
Your ears flick for a moment as he asks you the question , you cook down at your toys. You let go of Xisuma's leg not quite leaving your arms distance from him as you set them on the table. Your voice was still hoarse and quiet as you spoke. *
"Void and Biffa, 'Suma helped me name them "
Doc smiles as he gives Xisuma a very knowing look. "I used to have a friend named Biffa, I don't know what happened to him but he was cool! He was a robot, and Void's really cool. I think that's a fun name." Doc smiles as you smile as well though quickly you shake it off trying to put up a tough face .
" Hey Y/N can I try and clip those chains off your wings? I need you to trust me and sit still if you want them off though "Doc hums simple reasoning . Besides, he doesn't hold any malice .
You glance back at your wings flexing them for just a moment though hissing in the process. You think about it , your wings would be free and you'd have nothing more to worry about aside from damage too your wings, but Grian and Xisuma are here so it seems like you wouldn't have to worry about that. Slowly you nod pulling Biffa and Void into your arms . As you look up at Xisuma.
Xisuma offers you a hand as he brings you over to a chair and sits you down. He smiles ruffling your hair. " Me and Grian will be here the whole time we promise, there's nothing you need to worry about. Doc is our friend and he just wants to make sure you're okay ."
You nod letting out a Shakey sigh as you finally get comfortable and sit still. You hear the rummaging of tools behind you as you sit, the fear is paralysing. You wait doing your best to sit still as you hear snap after snap , with each snap your wings feel a little lighter till suddenly you no longer feel metal on your wings.
Doc smiles at his work, don't both efficiently and safely. "There you go Y/N, would you mind if I continued giving you a proper check up, I'd have to touch your wings but I won't hurt them at all , you have my word"*
You glance back, stretching your wings for the first time in ages. It hurts, they're very sore. However Doc's question catches your attention , perhaps it would make you know better for yourself . So you nod, hopefully it would be good for you .
You let Doc continue with his check up, wincing whenever he brushes past an injury that's never been treated and taken care of though it's all been settled and doc should have his notes tomorrow. Gently he stretches out your wings to their full length and to his surprise you have a rather large wingspan with the same blue-ish green scales that he's noted sit on your cheeks, wrists, neck and now a large poriok of your super back and your wings. The webbing of your wing was surprisingly well kept outside of a few small holes that he was pretty sure should only be natural to a dragon about your age.
You look over at Xisuma tilting your head with a yawn. Once Doc finally finishes . You're tired and burnt out people wise but Xisuma still seems to have things he wants to discuss so you walk over and climb into one of the seats as conversation continued you allowed yourself to get comfortable, no matter how awkward the position and you started to nod off. Falling asleep.
Xisuma watches with mild concern checking to make sure you're bro uncomfortable, though as settle on for your nap Grian comes to cover your with a blanket. He also decided that the rest of the day might be better spent at Grian's house with all of them. With that being the verdict the day continues as followed , you eat after your nap , play with Grian , have an awkward staring contest with Doc, grow scared of Doc for several moments and hide behind Xisuma, slowly trust Doc again, get Doc to talk to your toys along with Grian, and find a cosy spot to lay down and go to bed for the night once you tired yourself out.

Services
Healthcare stuff makes everyone ragey right? Baby boy has a two day developmental pediatric assessment in March. Waiting list was very long - which is fine for us as I’m not in a rush for a diagnosis. Currently still thinking he does not have autism. At this point I don’t really care either way and also kind of hope he gets the diagnosis because I think it opens up a shit ton of services. I want the options even if we decide not to use them. Anyway I called to get a billing code so I can call insurance to find out what they will cover if the assessment. From my understanding it costs about $6-8k and at this point it would not be worth paying out of pocket. He will have both Medicaid and my husbands private insurance so I think someone will cover it. Anyway seems like a simple question. Nope. Dr office (at a major well known hospital) had no clue. Sent me to billing. Who in turned sent me back to the dr office. Still no answer. Not to mention who can trust insurance to give you accurate info? I called to verify a certain med for myself was covered. Confirmed it was. Got the prescription. Went to get it paid for. Nope they don’t cover. Assholes. Cue the rage feelings.
The city DOE still has not found any providers for the 13 hours a week of 1:1 providers he was assigned in mid-Nov. The special ed admin who is supposed to find me the providers suggested - off the record - we file for an impartial due process hearing to ask for an enhanced rate. Which in theory should open up more provider options. The special ed consultant said it wasn’t a tactic she is familiar with but to try it. Emailed today to say we can have a mediation next week but wanted to know what people we found and at what rate. I hadn’t known we were already supposed to have people on dock. Just so happens I had found someone last week who said they are filled for DOE rate but could find someone for a private rate. Called back today. Fingers crossed it works. I’ll be happy when I’m more established af work so I can easily block off hours at work for special ed stuff or make phone calls. Once training hours are done I should be able to maintain my own schedule around this kind of stuff - within reason of course.

My Home is Your Home.
Tumblr media
Summary: You let a stranger into your home, but people aren’t always who they seem to be.
Pairing: Johnny Suh x Y/N
Genre: Supernatural, Vampire AU, Horror
Warnings: Suggestive language
Word count: 2.2k
A/N: Happy Halloween 🎃 ~
“Are you sure you don’t want a ride?” Your coworker said as he turned the lock and tugged the door, ensuring it was sealed. “It’s just not safe for you to go home on your own. It’s only a few blocks but a car ride will get you home faster.”
“I will be okay.” You assured your coworker. “Go and enjoy your Halloween party.”
He put a hand on his hip and sighed. “You are so stubborn.”
“I’m also a trained fighter.” You said as you lightly squeezed his arm and started walking in the direction of your family home. “I’ll see you next week! Happy Halloween!”
You stuffed your hands in both pockets and scurried across the street. The wind chill hit you like a brick wall and you nearly gasped. It was freezing. But you didn’t let that slow you down. You reached the crosswalk and began to cross when you saw- or you thought you saw a shadow rush by you. But when you looked around to assess your surroundings, you saw only the familiar houses and streets of your neighborhood.
You assumed it to have been a bird or a bat and continued with your walk.
After a few seconds, the house came into view. In the driveway, was your beloved Beemer. The battery died the day before and your parents wouldn’t be home for another three days. Realizing your condo was fifteen miles away from your job, you decided you would stay at your parents’ place until they returned and your father could fix your car.
You loudly sighed once you stepped into the warm house and closed the door shut, waiting for the whirring of the lock before you began to take off your shoes and coat.
You were waiting patiently as the kettle boiled water for your tea when you heard the doorbell ring. You slightly flinched, very confused because you were not expecting guests and it was very much so past trick or treating hours.
You walked to the door and could see the frame of a tall man. You hesitated before opening the door, unsure about the choice you were set to make.
Once the door opened, your eyes widened and you froze.
His look was…unique. He was very handsome, but something was missing. You just couldn’t seem to figure out what it was. Nevertheless, he was breathtaking. He stood at no less than 6 feet and 2 inches tall. His jet black hair brought out his porcelain skin and matched his half-lidded stare.
Long, dark fitted jeans, a black button up and a black leather jacket. His fashion sense was impressive but you couldn’t understand how he wasn’t shivering in the cold.
“Um..hi.” You said meekly. You could barely form a wave but didn’t pay that any mind.
“Hello.” He spoke and you felt your entire body perk up again. What was this feeling? “I don’t mean to bother and I know it’s a shot in the dark, but my car engine just went out and I can’t get any tow company to come out to this part of town at this hour.”
You stared at him, mouth agape, but said nothing. You hadn’t realized he wasn’t speaking anymore until he waved a hand in front of you.
“Oh! You need a place- a place to stay?” You stammered, embarrassment consuming you from the inside out.
The man smiled and nodded.
You started to shiver due to the cold wind and knew you couldn’t let this man spend the night in his car.
“Of course!” You opened the door wider and turned to walk back towards the kitchen. “I am making some tea, would you like some?” You half shouted once you were in front of the kettle.
There was no answer, so you walked back to the door. There, he still stood, with his hands in his pockets and looking around as if he were waiting for something in particular.
“Are you not going to come in?” You asked him sweetly.
“Oh, you invited me in?” He asked, seemingly confused.
You made a face at him. “Um yes, I am inviting you in. Now please come in and close the door.” You walked back to the kitchen without waiting for his response, but you heard the door close and the whirring of the lock within seconds.
“This is a beautiful home.” The man said as he entered the kitchen and stood by your side. You felt your stomach tighten at the non existent space between you and the attractive stranger, but you tried your best to appear unfazed.
“Thank you.” You said as you reached up high for an extra mug. The man moved to get it for you, but he was too late. You accidentally missed and a plate fell and partially shattered on the counter. You tried to pick up the bigger piece and winced as it sliced your finger.
“Ow!” You quietly said, holding onto your finger, as the blood began to ooze out of the cut.
The man moved away from you and turned his back to you.
“Sorry, I just don’t um- I don’t have a strong stomach.” He said before clearing his throat.
You stared at his wide and muscular back. So muscular his muscles were perfectly outlined through the fabric.
What a man. How did he find his way to you?
You pulled a pack of band aids from a drawer and rinsed your finger in the sink as he continued to face away from you.
“Can you help me clean up the mess? I’ll keep my distance. The trash is on the other side of the island.” You said softly.
“Of course. I can finish with the tea, as well.” He moved to clean the counter and you leaned against the sink and observed him.
I’m so painfully single. You thought to yourself as the attractive man moved around the kitchen cleaning and preparing the tea you started.
You tried to grab your mug but he stopped you and picked it up. “Let me.” He said in that sultry voice that made your stomach do a backflip.
He brought it to the table and both sat. His long legs reached the floor and his knees bent, while you crossed your legs on the stool.
“So…” You said, staring at him. He was awfully pale. You’d never seen anything like it. He could’ve passed for a dead man.
“Um.. What is your name?” You asked him, after you took a sip of your tea.
“My name is Johnny.” He replied, making direct eye contact as he sipped his tea as well.
His stare was as penetrative as it was alluring.
“Johnny…” You repeated after him, feeling yourself slide into a trance as you gazed into his eyes.
He smiled and set his mug onto the table.
“Yes.” The smile grew wider. “Johnny. And I am assuming this is your name?” He pointed to your 5th grade drawing hanging on the fridge.
You quietly laughed, embarrassed because of the drawing. But you still nodded.
“It’s a pretty name.” Johnny leaned in closer to you. “Suitable for a pretty woman.”
You immediately giggled and he smiled. “That’s very flattering. Maybe I have something other than the couch for you to sleep on.” You winked at him.
“I have no intention of sleeping on the couch.” He said, his voice low. With that, he leaned forward and planted a confident kiss on your lips.
Flustered and excited you struggled to sound coherent. “I- oh. Um.” Johnny chuckled and took another sip of his tea.
“Pretty girls shouldn’t be walking home alone at night, let alone staying in big houses by themselves. You never know what could be hiding in the shadows.” Johnny said.
You looked at him, but remained silent.
How did he know you walked alone?
“Um…it’s getting late. If you follow me, I can show you to the guest room.” You tell Johnny and he responds with a small smile.
“Lead the way. “ He said as he rose to stand.
You stood as well and started walking towards the staircase. Johnny followed you but made no move to touch you.
“This is one of our guest rooms. My parents always keep it ready.” You turned on the light and the both of you were greeted by a large light and a tidy, furnished room. “There are towels, toothpaste, and new toothbrushes in the bathroom.” You add and then you wait for him to say something. Anything.
“This will do.” Johnny says as walks into the bedroom. He starts to unbuckle his belt and you gasp and cover your eyes as you turn your back to him.
“Okay, I’m going to get ready for bed. Hope you have a good night!” You quickly leave the room and run to your own bedroom.
The door closed and you clutched your chest while your heart continued to thump. The thought of seeing him sans clothes taunts you as you try to blink it away. Your stomach did a backflip for the umpteenth time since you let this man into your home. You didn’t understand why you were beginning to struggle with self control. Now…..of all times?
You rushed to the bathroom and started running a bath. You needed to relax and a bath with lavender bubbles would do just the trick.
-
Twenty minutes later, you emerged from the bathroom. Defeated.
Your plan did not work. The water made you hornier than you were before you entered. Why did he have to kiss you? And call you pretty? Was all of that really necessary?
You groaned and held your head in your hands. Your head jerked up when you heard Johnny’s room door close.
He must’ve also had a shower.
You rushed to the door in hopes of hearing him, perhaps. It was silent. Maybe he was still awake and the two of you could hang out some more…
A few extra minutes of chatting wouldn’t hurt.
Yes. You decided. You would go and talk to him for a bit longer. He would be leaving in the morning, after all.
You slowly removed your ear from the door and straightened yourself out before reaching for the door knob. One deep breath and you turned the knob and pulled the door open.
You jolted as a half naked Johnny greeted you. His only layer being a white towel, which hung dangerously low. He sported the same gaze but there was something different about his eyes. The brim of his eyes were red, giving him a ghastly look. He seemed unwell.
“I’m so hungry.” He said.
You sighed but nodded. “Well then let’s get you something to eat. There’s a lot of food downstairs and-”
“No.” Johnny grabbed your wrist and brought it to eye level. “What I am hungry for is right in front of me.
“Johnny-” You didn’t finish your sentence but instead your eyes widened in horror as he opened his mouth to reveal fangs.
“Oh my God.” You took a step back, but he only tightened his grasp.
“Do not scream. Do not run. I would hate for someone to die.” Johnny calmly said, now removing the band aid from your wound.
“You’re a-...” Your voice started to tremble so you stopped and gulped.
“Yes yes. There are many names for my kind but I’ll have you know…most of what you know about us is probably a myth…. Except for the blood part.” Johnny shrugged. “That is very real.”
You shook your head as tears started to stream down your cheeks. “Please, no.” You sobbed as you tried to break free.
“Shhh shhh. Hey.” Johnny caressed your cheek and wiped away a tear. “I can make this enjoyable for the both of us. You don’t need to be afraid.”
“I have a rare blood disease!” You sputtered.
“No you don’t. I would’ve smelled it. And even if you did.” He pulled you into his chest and leaned into your ear and whispered. “It wouldn’t matter.”
You couldn’t understand it but you still wanted him. Even more than before.
“Did you like it when I kissed you?” Johnny taunted, shooting a playful smile your way.
His thumb stroked your lip as watched you melt into his hand.
“127 years of experience….I can make you feel in ways unimaginable..Don’t you want that? Don’t you want me?” He carefully examined your face and scrunched his eyebrows.
Your throat was dry and your knees began to slightly shake. All you could do was nod.
“I assumed as much.” Johnny replied and leaned in to kiss you again.
Without thinking, you reached around and wrapped your arms around him. You felt him smile in the kiss and it distracted you from the cold skin against your lips. Johnny walked the both of you further into the bedroom and laid you on the bed. The fangs that were retracted while he was kissing, made an appearance again as you laid flat on your back and spread your legs.
“Wait, can we really? Are you able to- you know? Aren’t you like….dead? Doesn’t that mean you can’t have sex?” You asked, your tears quickly crying.
Johnny chuckled and unwrapped the towel from his waist.
“Let’s test that theory.”

Rep David Eastman
https://www.newsweek.com/alaska-republican-touts-benefits-children-being-abused-death-1782972
A legislature in Alaska caused outrage after questioning whether the death of child abuse victims could be "a cost savings," because it would mean they don't need "government services" later in life.
Republican David Eastman, who sits in the Alaska House of Representatives, made the comment on Monday during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
The committee was meeting to discuss how children are impacted by physical or sexual abuse, as well as witnessing domestic violence within their family home.
Lawmakers were shown a study indicating each incident of fatal child abuse costs society $1.5 million, a figure reached by assessing the impact of trauma and the child's loss of earnings over a lifetime.
However, Eastman was unimpressed, and questioned whether fatal child abuse could be economically beneficial to wider society, an argument he claimed to have heard.
Eastman said: "It can be argued, periodically, that it's actually a cost savings because that child is not going to need any of those government services that they might otherwise be entitled to receive and need based on growing up in this type of environment."
The remark horrified Trevor Storrs, president of the Alaska Children's Trust (ACT), who hit back describing the loss of a child as "unmeasurable."
Newsweek subscription offers >
Democratic Representative Cliff Groh, who used to work as a prosecutor covering child abuse allegations, said he was "disturbed" by Easterman's comment.
Representative Sarah Vance, the Republican who claims the House Judiciary Committee, said Easterman, who doesn't serve on any committees, had been at the hearing "at my invitation."
According to the Anchorage Daily News, she added: "I wished that he asked questions with a little bit more sensitivity to the listeners and how they're perceived, and I can have that conversation.
"But he's there on his own accord and only represents himself."
Vance later suggested Eastman had been trying to make an argument against abortion, which some consider to be "child abuse."
Speaking with the Anchorage Daily News via text message, Eastman said: "I was pleased to hear ACT advocating against child abuse, but a child's value comes not from future productivity, but from the fact that every child is made in the image of God."
Newsweek has contacted Eastman to ask if he stands by his original remarks.
Eastman, a former soldier, was reelected to the Alaska House of Representatives in November 2022.
A lawsuit was filed attempting unsuccessfully to bar Eastman from office due to his membership of the Oath Keepers, a right-wing paramilitary group.
A number of Oath Keepers have been convicted over their role in the storming of Congress on January 6 2021, it a bid to stop the 2020 presidential election result being certified.
Eastman was present in Washington, D.C. that day but there is no indication he took part in the disturbances, which he condemned. He later promoted a discredited conspiracy theory, suggesting the violence could have been committed by left-wing movement Antifa.

Why ship Agon & Yoichi? Welcome to the 2nd portion of my long AgoHiru meta post!! I ended up having to break it into 3 parts because of the sheer amount of images. If you missed Part 1, please go HERE.
~~Part 2~~
TWO YEARS LATER - Agon doesn’t care about football.. except when he does
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Agon is considered such a high-value player that scouts from University teams & Sports writers come see him play. Unfortunately for them, Agon doesn't actually enjoy football enough nor deems his participation important enough to play full time or train. And yet, when it comes to Yoichi’s new High School team, Agon makes exceptions.
Tumblr media
During Sena’s first Deimon vs Ojo match, Agon makes surprising appearance. And he's not only keeping tabs on Yoichi, but also on any interesting newcomers to the team:
Tumblr media
Checking out Mamori, downplaying Sena, insulting Yoichi.. tsk tsk
Remember how Agon insults Sena along with Ryokan during Riko’s interview? From the moment Yoichi’s football team begins to boast a new star, Sena becomes Agon’s new target of ire. Sena who, like Ryokan, lacks in areas Agon can excel. Sena who is currently Yoichi’s trump card.. the position that should be Agon’s.
Tumblr media
Sena has no power, but his speed gives Deimon a chance at the Christmas Bowl, & Agon can’t stand that. Because at the end of it all, I think his issue isn’t the fact that Yoichi plays football, it’s the fact that he continues to choose his less talented friends to accomplish his goal instead of the "once in a century genius athlete" that is Agon.
Tumblr media
For all his talk about playing football to crush those without talent, nothing personally motivates Agon more than playing for the sole purpose of ruining the dream Yoichi has with his friends..
Tumblr media
An answer that evokes an image too similar to the one Agon saw the day he decided to join Shinryuji.. Even Riko can tell this topic spells a land mine, oof
Yoichi influences Agon: +2 points! (Agon hates Yoichi’s friends, specifically Ryokan & Sena.)
~
DEIMON VS SHINRYUJI - Dethroning the Gods
When the chance to play against Deimon finally arrives, Agon, of course, decides to play the game in full, much to the surprise of his teammates. And he quickly escalates to participating in ALL ASPECTS due to Yoichi's continued provocations:
Tumblr media
When he finally faces off against Yoichi himself, Agon chops him down the same way he does everyone. But once Yoichi gets a hold of his leg, Agon smashes him to the ground so hard, the demon bleeds!
Tumblr media
Such strong aggression.. like some seriously pent up UST
Tumblr media
And five minutes after contact, Agon still can’t stop thinking about it hmmmmm
As the match goes on, Agon reluctantly begins to accept Sena as a formidable player, but nonetheless he continues to keep an eye on Yoichi, often bringing up his history with him to assess the potential of Deimon’s plays.
Tumblr media
Despite not speaking to each other for two years & the fact that they mostly only hung out for blackmail, Agon knows quite a lot about Yoichi’s stats & play style.
Deimon's match against Shinryuji is SUPER DELIGHTFUL to me for several reasons, especially because:
We got a story of origins: how the Maou trio ended up in Deimon
The Shinryuji Nagas have been set up since vol 6 as the Best Team in all of Kanto, with 9 consecutive championships won
Agon is presented as a personal villain to the our protagonists, which makes winning against his team all the more sweeter
Yukimisu debuts!
It’s the only game where every touchdown was done by a different character
Agon, the once-in-a-century genius had the malicious intent in proving to Yoichi that his team was made up of losers. But he instead ends up getting owned by a variety of Deimon's players, even those who had never before touched the ball in an official match!
Tumblr media
By the end of the game, guess what Agon thinks about?
Tumblr media
His conversation with Yoichi, and the two players he bashed the most. The end result of this match crushes him so badly that he decides to do the previously unimaginable: to TRAIN.
Yoichi influences Agon: +3 points! (Agon plays a full match. Agon tastes defeat. Agon decides to train!)
Tumblr media
And so.. after being bested by Sena, Monta, Ryokan, Katsuki, Manabu & Yoichi Deimon, Agon begins to take the sport seriously, fully intent in seeking another rematch. Another chance to once again prove he’s the best player & that Yoichi should've chosen him.
Oops.. Except that Deimon’s third years don’t get to participate in sports.
See, training soon proves to not be enough for Agon. Not only does Agon keep a close watch on Deimon's next matches, he even goes so far as to try out for Teikoku High after Deimon secures their ticket to their long-coveted Christmals Bowl. Because Agon doesn’t want to wait a whole year for a rematch.
Maybe it's just drama to up the stakes, but taking his history with Yoichi & his tremendous grudge against Yoichi's friends into account, I posit he did it because he knew Deimon’s third years don’t get to play sports. Defeating Deimon without facing Yoichi would feel pretty pointless after all!
Tumblr media
A year ago, Agon turned down Teikoku because of how committed he was to staying at Shinryuji specifically but decides to transfer once that wasn’t enough to ruin the dreams Yoichi build with his friends
In any case, Agon goes to watch Deimon vs Ojo in person once again, as well as the Christmas Bowl. As for the Hakushuu match, he only watches it through TV (maybe he couldn't watch Yoichi get crushed in person)
Tumblr media
Yoichi influences Agon: +2 points! (Agon tries to get into Teikoku. Agon gets increasingly more invested in football)
→Continue to Part 3→
What’s it like when they finally play on the same team? Where do they go from there? And other bonus topics!

Thank you! So, for the last several years I thought of myself as bisexual, but I still feel like I’m lying to myself. That maybe I’m just straight. I don’t get turned on by women as much as men. Although I’ve realized that my obsession with men (it is, in fact, kind of an obsession, I myself feel it) is a result of an abusive father, then a stepfather, and my overconsumption of porn since I was like 6. That’s actually a whole another topic, I fucking hate pornography so much. It feels like it ruined my brain. I still feel like I get turned on by extreme stuff. It’s disgusting and I feel like a vile human being. But getting to the initial topic - I don’t fantasise of women in such context as much as of men. I don’t think I ever masturbated fantasising of a woman… And it feels like a cornerstone for me. I often think I’m just delusional , or I want to feel included somewhere. That I’m just straight. I’ve never been in a relationship with either sex. As of now I feel like men dont interest me as much and I don’t want to date them, but I still feel this “obsession”. I don’t know how to get rid of it.
I didn’t have any crushes on female characters or real life girls as a kid, I think. So that’s another thing… But I did have a crush on one girl in my college. I think I’d still feel butterflies in my stomach if I saw her. But one crush compared to my many infatuations with men doesn’t seem enough. Also, even if I fantasise about being in a relationship with a woman, it feels almost strange. Because I feel as though I’m not good enough. Or that I’m an imposter. I’ve had one girl who had interest in ME (which I can’t believe in to this day), but I didn’t like her back. I still lived with my mother than, and I remember telling her about my complicated feelings on this and she just disregarded it all. Saying that I’m straight and it’s time I stopped lying to myself and trying to be trendy, that I’m not a lesbian. (I’ve never called myself a lesbian, I don’t know why she said this).
I guess getting a crush on a woman and this feeling being mutual would help me realize if I’m actually bisexual. I mean, like entering a real relationship. But that’s another thing - I mostly get crushes on butches. And it makes me always think, and I know this sounds so wrong and disgusting, but - what if I like butches because they are similar to men? What if I just like men and this is some sort of projection?
I’m sorry if this was too graphic and long. You don’t have to respond to this. Also thank you for your time
hello darling! first off - you can relax. it sounds like youre putting a lot of pressure on yourself. bisexuality isnt 50/50. some are more same-sex attracted; some more opposite. and it can change: for example, the older i got, the more attracted i became to women, and possibly due to allowing myself to feel that attraction (because in my experience admitting to yourself you are bi is one thing, learning to allow that attraction another; we are raised in a heteronormative society and kind of have to learn on our own how to deal with our same sex attraction) i also initiated more with women. i think theres a lot less chances because there are just not as many same sex attracted women, and then you have to be attracted to her and she has to be attracted to you, etc.
im sorry you were exposed to porn this early, and that the men in your life did this to you. this probably has a huge influence on your sexuality and especially how you perceive it. again i would recommend you to allow yourself to breathe, what will happen will happen, if youve felt attracted and had romantic feelings for women before and you know a woman who gives you butterflies you are likely right in your assessment. i also think straight women dont think about it this extensively. as bisexual women men are the „easier“ option (as in, more potential partners and established norms of behavior, social expectations etc; and men tend to be more offensive in flirting and initiating stuff) and i think if you never had a woman return your interest there is this doubt which is on top enforced by womens bisexuality often being questioned and mocked, something we internalise.
please feel free to reach out via direct message if you are comfortable with that, youre more than welcome to. and please, dont stress yourself! you have nothing to prove to anyone!

the likelihood is no one cares, but im here to complain about my philosophy assessment.
so my school has a rule that the assessment notification needs to be given out at least 2 weeks before the due date, both hand-in and in-class assessments and assignments must abide by this
my philosophy teacher (who is AMAZING, but also the only philosophy teacher in the entire school, and he teaches elective philosophy and also ToK and other stuff for ~130 students, and my has 5 lessons a fortnight, each an hour long, and all the other students have that too, except 11 and 12s, who do more sometimes)
anyways, Dr. Hall is amazing but-
he mixed up the due date for my class' assessment w/ year 10s, so we got the notification 6 days from due date (tomorrow, 8/3).
but because he's amazing he halved the assessment. yay.
so all we needed to do was get references to answer a question we dont need to answer (yayayyayay)
the referencing was easy, and i did that all in class, but that was only the hand-in part of the assessment.
so the in-class bit is an evaluation of research methods and then what we call doing an OPVL of a source (origin, purpose, value, limitations)
ok- i'm good at opvls. but. what if words arent working tomorrow? so yeah.
we also get to take in the article that we are going to do the opvl for physically, but the printers have gone to shit, and also- the asshole that wrote the one i decided to do the opvl on (my other options were uni ads or some dude.) used SO MANY big and dumb words. like-ok. sure. i could just try and glue the meanings in my head overnight, but some days i dont remember to eat or drink so theres no way that'd work. so i put all the definitions in too. the problem is that the formatting on word is shit and a massive pain, so i just... copied the article into ao3 to get rid of all the unnecessary formatting (yay braincells)
but it also got rid of the formatting i wanted. :(
anyways so i redid all the formatting and definitions.
then i did my opvl on the side, but bc im basically incapable of doing notes that fuction as NOTES i pretty much did my entire opvl. which.
isnt allowed.
but im too tired now so imma edit it down in the morning. i hope.
see the masterpiece that looks depressingly short and i wish it looked like more but it doesnt so just know the struggle of doing this without adhd meds bc i had shit on in the afternoon:
Tumblr media
(top block of text is the evaluation of research in actual notes that is incorrect bc all i did was google and scroll for ~20 minutes but i cant say that its bad marks. the left blocks of text in the left section-bit is the article. the bits on the right are the opvl. no idk why i posted this either.)

Y’all wanna know why I ship chefs kiss?
It’s because despite all their insecurities, traumas, hang ups, flaws, and all that other bullshit that comes with everyday life, these two see each other. And isn’t that what we all want? To be seen, heard, and understood. And they just instinctively get that about one another.
I love how awed they are of one other and it’s so pure and gentle and good.
That Carmy’s soft around her and there’s no ulterior motive—he just is. He can’t help but to smile when it comes to her and she with him. I love that he’s protective over her and not because he’s (knowingly) attracted to her or because she’s a woman, but because he knows she’s putting up with so much and has put up with a lot of shit and it’s second nature for him to just want to defend her.
That Syd had this one meal that totally changed her and, when they opportunity presented itself, she went to work for him.
I love that their interactions aren’t driven by romance, yet they this have this undefinable thing brewing between them.
And I love that if they do get together, it won’t happen overnight. These are two workaholics who overthink everything and just want make their dream restaurant together. They aren’t going to be immediately aware of whatever feelings develop. Then when they do realize it, they aren’t going to jump in the bed together.
Because why would they?
These two already care deeply about one another in a way that isn’t apparent to them. They are business partners now. And they’re likely going to become friends.
Don’t y’all think they’re going to be assessing and reassessing their feelings. Looking at each other closely and trying to understand when it changed. Or if they should take that leap at all?
Because that potential is what’s it all about. When you see the vision, what’s understood doesn’t have to be explained.
I’ve been rewatching the walking dead and I see chefs kiss kind of developing like Richonne in essence. Here’s why I mean by this (spoilers going forth to season 6):
Many fans have argued that Rick and Michonne have had chemistry from the moment they met. The thing is: chemistry is subjective, which is why this isn’t the crux of my argument. However, these two have this deep, meaningful bond due to shared experience, similar experience, shared beliefs, etc. they just get each other.
When shit finally calms down in comparison to the shit they’d been through previously, they end up kissing, which results in them having sex.
But the sex isn’t the point.
Them kissing isn’t even the point, it’s their reaction.
These two sat on a couch and talked about their day, and then ended up holding hands. No duress, no drugs or alcohol, nothing where it could be argued they weren’t themselves or was influenced by something else. They looked at each other and kissed.
In real time, the viewer sees Michonne give this look of, “of course it’s you.” As in, “yes, this makes sense. We’ve been building up to this. And you are the person I see something with.” And Rick is in awe of her. They’re both filled with joy by this development. They don’t walk this back, they lean more into the moment.
The next day, Michonne is uncertain as to what comes next, where as Rick KNOWS this is serious. He wants to be with her and he’s palpably happy that he’s finally figured out that he has romantic feelings for her.
So my point in bringing up Richonne is the “of course it’s you”, which I feel Sydney and Carmy will have. Whether or not they kiss when they have this realization, I feel like a realization is going to happen a few seasons from now.
Whether they’re looking at each other just because, always mentioning the other person, reading a recipe, talking about something mundane, etc etc etc. unknowingly and unintentionally, they’ll realize that they’ve been building towards each other.
That’s what I look forward to seeing.

Hello lovely! I hope you're doing good!♡ (Sorry if you don't wanna be called that!!)
I was wondering how you vch piercing is healing and all that. I really want to get this piercing but I want to see how it's like for someone who already has it. Yknow? Here's some questions:
Did it hurt really really bad or was it not that bad? For context I have a medium pain tolerance. Have you had any significant problems with it? Would you recommend this piercing to a friend? How much did it cost for you to get? I know price depends place to place ofc. How long do you feel it took to heal? If it has yet! And any pros or cons?
If you're not comfortable with answering I understand! Thank you for your time. I hope you have a beautiful wonderful day♡
(Can I perhaps be " 🎀🍓 " anon??)
awaaa hi yourself, lovely!! (absolutely <3 being called that ty for checking tho!!)
i'm not at all uncomfy with answering!! and ofc that can be your anon signoff <3
talk of piercing + piercing aftermath under the cut!
so, here's the DL on your VCH questions:
pain level: extremely minimal! the thing that hurt the worst was being clamped (which was a bad sign - i've learned since then that people who know their shit piercing VCH will use a receiving tube, not clamps, so ask your piercer about their process during a consultation appointment and then make your decision!) i have my nostril, 2 cartilage, 6 lobe, and a vertical labret piercing on my lip. of those piercings, the vch and lip hurt the least. there's no cartilage to go thru, and even though we think of the clit as a very sensitive area, the hood of it, when it's isolated, isn't super sensitive for most. your anatomy and your pain tolerance will differ, but as a piercing veteran, the vch was the least painful!
problems with it: unfortunately, my vch rejected about two months after it'd healed (y'all can fact check me on this, i'm guesstimating). i *don't* think it was necessarily inherent to the VCH; rejection can happen to anyone for various reasons, but (afaik) is more of a risk when a piercing is more surface-based, like an eyebrow piercing. what i think happened: i think my piercer placed it too low on my clit hood; the top ball should have been higher up. this, combined with a poor jewelry fit and, uh, the fact that that area gets a lot of friction...probably contributed to the rejection. i took it out once i noticed because i didn't want to tear. as i mentioned above, my piercer used a technique that is *not* considered best practice by genital piercing professionals. (she's an excellent piercer otherwise, i love her, but now i know genitals are not her strong suit.)
another problem: due to the friction (not necessarily me rubbing it, more so clothing, my spouse's pelvic bone, etc), the ball was constantly coming loose, prompting a frantic hunt in the bedsheets/my laundry basket for the missing piece...pain in the fucking ass, but i think it also depends on your anatomy!
something that *wasn't* a problem that i expected to be: i don't think it ever once got caught on anything. once or twice, i had a pube get sort of wound around it, but since i was touching it...all the time...soooo much >.> i usually noticed pretty quick lmaoooo
i would recommend this piercing (done well, taken good care of) to a friend wanting a little bling downstairs and a little extra stimulation!
mine cost $100. but it's common to cost more than that from genital-specialty piercers, and for good reasons; i think my piercer priced it reasonably (small town economy + again, she didn't do a *great* job) but expect to pay more. that said, never equate cost with quality: ask your piercer...
where they learned to do a VCH
their process (receiving tube vs. clamps)
if they have any photographs of completed VCHs they've done. to assess all these best practices, check Elaine Angel's website. she basically invented the best practices, and she has plenty of good and bad example piercings for most types of genital piercings!
it took ~2 weeks before i'd say it was fully healed. most piercers caution you to wait 4-6 weeks for full healing; my body (and what i consider "healed"), as well as my new piercing aftercare routine, are specific to me. but for most people, it's <6 weeks. the rejection didn't happen until after healing. as far as healing the piercing *hole*, after taking it out, i don't notice any difference; there's maybe a pock mark sort of thing, or dimple? but it's not a "hole" anymore. just a mark, and there's not any scarring or tissue that irritates my clitoris, given i took it out so fast!
pros!
if you have my specific kinks, you are not gonna want to wait to start touching yourself >.> you can browse through my #kinky mods tag (tagged on this post for easy access) for a play-by-play of how fucked up it got me lmao.
as in, even tho it ached, i touched that shit the second day (gently) and had the craziest ruined orgasm of my life.
there is really something to be said for the tiny, itty bitty piece of stimulation achieved by the barbell under your hood.
also really something to be said about the balls themselves sliding over your clit when you rub with your fingers ;-;
vibrator against the barbell = weirdest overstim in the world.
heals fast; lots of cool jewelry options out there; doesn't hurt very much [compared to my other piercings, ymmv].
cons:
can be expensive to get one that's done properly.
you do eventually stop being as sensitive to the new stimulation. however, most people just switch jewelry to change things up after awhile, so nbd.
that said, jewelry change can be a bitch. it's hard to do that shit on your clitoris. you may find yourself needing to go to your piercer for jewelry changes, but many piercers offer this service at cost of jewelry/even free of charge, depending.
if you lose a piece of your jewelry, you might cry. lol. keep backups on hand. (my piercer, bless her fucking heart, has incredible aftercare services - she will literally drive to the shop at 1 am if your jewelry falls in the toilet. yes, she gives her clients her personal cell number. bless up, J, you can't pierce a clit worth a damn but you love what you do!)
how do i say this,, u know how. a new piercing might sort of get crusty. esp if you don't clean it often (follow ur aftercare instructions! always!!!!!) but uh. my regular aftercare did not prepare me for the crust being *under* the clit hood. it wasn't much, and it came off when i downsized jewelry, but eugh. it should be minimal, anyway, but still, don't be surprised.
the swelling was mainly the thing, in the hours after i got it pierced, but it didn't hurt worse than, say, biting the inside of your cheek really hard when you're chomping down on food - just that sort of ache you get. honestly i've had worse clit pain in the aftermath of being clamped, tho.
hope this helped ;-; i know it was a lot but y'all know me, i tend to go ham on these general/educational/experience questions. you're following an autistic puppy, what'd you expect? <3

this thought has been niggling in the back of my head ever since dazai called akutagawa too slow to teach that time in the dungeon (which wasn't really true he was just manipulating aku) and only became more prominent when i read the failed sskk-vs-fukuchi fight but for a fighting(?) shonen(?) manga protagonists/main duo atsushi and akutagawa's talents (beside their innate abilities) are pretty....mid?
obviously i dont think theyre stupid but even if we dont consider the OP protags usually seen in the genre they still come up quite average in-universe? for one they are clearly not the brightest bulbs around. akutagawa's mostly been the brains behind sskk and he's pulled some pretty good saves like waking the tiger in 55 minutes or assisting atsushi throughout the fight against goncharov, so he's capable and can further improve (provided vampirism or death didnt turn his brain to mush rip) but theres no way its in the same dimension of the class of people considered the "brain" of the series (dazai, fyodor, ranpo, even mori). it couldve been somewhat better if their intellect complemented each other (for example ranpo+dazai whose brains become 1+1>2 together) but sskk are pretty similar in how they think? i dont think theres anything akutagawa could come up with and atsushi couldnt (well, i do have to give it to atsushi for the ability to consider strategic retreat, something aku is incapable of).
then there are their abilities & combat capabilities. the abilities are strong, no doubt, and even stronger together (sskk 1+1>2 goes here) but considering how strong the abilities are capable of, their combat power is just ok? and its quite not a problem of experience either because like how dazai and friends above reign over intellect we have seen other ability users with genius control over their abilities at very young, most notably oda and chuuya (no corruption) for me. oda's ability seemed like a cheat because he can see the future, but its really just 5-6 seconds so its still on him to react fast enough. from the day i met dazai we actually found out by 14 years old, he's killed so many people they thought it was an entire organisation behind the assassinations, but nah it was just oda alone. and even when his ability was canceled out in the fight with gide, he was still comparable in speed and marksmanship, and given how gide fought in the great war 10 years before the event of dark era, the man has years of experience over oda. similarly, its chuuya's ability to combine his gravitation manipulation to enhance his fighting with insane accuracy (generating the right momentum for his hits, gathering dust as leverage for midair mobility, etc.) that makes the gravitation control a lot more deadly. and hes done all this by the time we first saw him at 15, where "the sheep" aka basically chuuya alone has enough firepower to compete with port mafia. like oda, chuuya also fought with someone with the same ability and at 16, under normal power condition his hand-to-hand combat skills are comparable to verlaine, a government-trained spy and assassin, or even better as he managed to wound him (of course verlaine still won in the end because his dragon aka energy output is bigger than chuuya's dragon lmao). in comparison to them, sskk's track record doesnt seem as impressive? of course they have their limitations like how atsushi has only been at this for a year at most or akutagawa is simply too frail due to his illness (dazai's physical skills are below average for the mafia per chuuya's assessment and well, we all know how dazai-vs-akutagawa goes). but sskk actually had training and mentors and so far they look to be on an ordinary(?) learning curve, while oda and chuuya seemed to be just genius??
of course, as protagonists we love sskk for their drive and personal growth that us readers are privy to but kinda like how teruko told sigma, in a fight to the death its not like the geniuses like the ones above will have less drive to survive. anyway, its not really a complaint because the appeal of bsd has always been the characters and themes to me, not so much the powerscaling (even if it has been about fighting, having an "average" protag is perfectly fine). i just think its pretty interesting to take this into perspective considering if everyone manages to survive the doa arc future enemies are probably gonna get stronger, and i wonder how will we go from here, assuming asagiri still wants to give sskk the "main fight" of the arc (though who knows with the madlad anymore lmao)
(i wouldnt say no to more ability group fight like how the mafia ganged up on verlaine in stormbringer though that's be rad as hell)

I recently took a class that reminded us to be grateful because the act of gratitude helps lessen depression. In that vein:
Five things I am grateful for:
Free healthcare. With the bullshit of the past few months, I have a new appreciation for the Canadian healthcare system - as broken as it is, I am being seen promptly about my knee and my mysterious hypertension episode.
My kids are healthy and bright. When I was pregnant with both of them, my prayer was that they would be healthy because I know my capabilities and I knew I couldn’t do nursing as a career and come home to kids with physical special needs. My prayers were very literally answered. I have two ADHD kids (one being assessed for autism) - no surprise as I have also recently been diagnosed ADHD and I’m reasonably sure my husband has autism - and so technically I am raising special needs kids, but they are in my wheelhouse. I love them with all my heart and they make me proud. They are compassionate, kind and clever. It is no hardship to be their mother.
My dad. Which is funny because we had a very strained relationship when I was a teen and into my 20s. But the 6 months I spent off work caring for him and the nearly 7 years since my mum passed have made us so much closer. He has always been smart and wise but I appreciate his insight so much more in the last six months. His generosity has ALWAYS helped me and now it is helping my family as well and I am so grateful for the chance I’ve had to be able to love him for who he is.
My job. There are days I HATE going to work because of the pressure of short staffing and the helplessness I feel over being unable to adequately advocate for my patients, but I am always happy I found my calling. And I’m getting another chance to teach soon which also makes me so incredibly happy. I’ve had a significant raise recently which is also making life in the land of unending inflation marginally easier to endure.
The opportunity to stay home with dad for 6 months. The Canadian government has a program for compassionate leave for the primary caregiver of someone with a 6 month life expectancy where you can draw employment insurance for that time. I was able to take a 6 month leave of absence at work and stay home with EI pay to care for my dad. It wasn’t much $, but we managed. It afforded me an opportunity to do some soul searching and personal growth while I spent time with my dad and process some of the religious trauma I brought on myself due to past decisions (my parents were never involved in those traumas) and brought me to a place where I think I better understand myself and my personal beliefs.
You know something? I do feel a bit better. I’ve been feeling pretty low because of my health bullshit and my dad’s condition but this made me recognize the things that have been keeping me going.
