kind of funny how when people discuss adora's flaws and how she harms people around her bc of those flaws, people will say that it's an unfair assessment of her character since most of her worst qualities stem from shadow weaver's manipulation and her abuse. but then refuse to extend even some of the same understanding to catra

i dunno, i feel like there's one thing with saying that adora hurt catram and another with saying that it's all her fault and she's an abuser too and i feel like that person's posts have always veered towards the latter category
you dont have to reply to this ask but thats the impression ive gotten from that blogger, excusing other characters while somehow shifting everything onto adora
I can see where you see that, but I’ll be honest I don’t interpret their posts that way.
I like the tag line “Adora needs to own her shit” because that is a part of her character growth that we don’t talk about. Adora, just like Catra, does some awful shitty things during the show. Like, on screen explicitly bad behavior that often gets swept under the rug due to Adora’s usually good intentions.
I interpret the posts less as everything is Adora’s fault and she’s an abuser, and more as Adora has fucked up and been able to side step a lot of things she needs to unlearn. Some of these things can be abusive, especially if she never works on it.
But the posts also aren’t there to be well rounded extoling the bad and the good. They are laser focused on the bad behaviors and why they’re bad with a dash of here’s some reasons this happened which usually boils down to Shadow Weaver’s abuse of Adora, Adora’s maladaptive coping mechanisms, or ego. All of which are things that negatively impact Adora’s reactions and behaviors.
Just like any meta analysis, I don’t think it’s all true nor do I agree with everything presented. But I also think that the goal was to explore hurtful things that Adora does, so it’s going to focus more on that slant that anything else. In a hilarious twist one of the biggest things I really disagree with was an interpretation involving Glimmer, but there was plenty in there that I went “huh, that is a way to interpret the show”.
One of the things that is difficult with metas specifically is that they are often presented as a be all end all because that’s what makes a strong point. The point that Adora does often guilt trip Catra or that she does behave more physically violently at times towards her has to be broken down and explored, and stopping that to reassure (even more than was done in those posts) that Adora is a good person is reductive to the point of the analysis.
I don’t know if that makes sense, and this is probably just something we won’t see completely eye to eye on. But yeah, for me the posts don’t feel like they’re saying “Adora is an abuser who does everything wrong to hurt Catra on purpose” so much they read to me as “Adora is a victim of abuse who is struggling to learn new ways to live, who doesn’t (in the show) get to fully confront the ways she hurt someone due to growing up in such an unsafe and cruel manner. So let’s talk about the hurtful things she does that are heavily influenced by abusive behavior and tactics, the same way we’ve dived into Catra’s side of this coin.”
#again I can totally see where you feel that way#there was one or two that I felt were beyond mean spirited in their interpretation but the interpretations themselves never went beyond the#*the line of things Adora does/can do#Adora's abuse was (in many ways) more subtle than Catra's was#and I'm not surprised at all to see a lot of the moments I am uncomfortable with fandom general interpretation on tend to be moments where#Adora is mirroring how she was treated#or that she is behaving in a way that used to keep her safe (and she thought kept Catra safe too) but are outdated#Adora's biggest stumbling blocks in the show are related the the way she can keep discordant thoughts in her head#that's how she flips sometimes very suddenly between ''this is all my fault'' and ''this is somebody else's fault it can't be mine!''#Good/nice/kind/caring people can and do fuck up#sometimes spectacularly in awful manipulative ways#but I also know I'm speaking as someone who experienced a relationship with that#where a genuinely good and kind person was abusive towards me#he didn't really want or mean to be but that doesn't mean he wasn't#it was easier to roll over and agree with his version of reality than fight back and sometimes I believed his version over what I knew#the intent in abuse does not always mean ''I wish to cause you to suffer'' but if it's persistent and pervasive it really doesn't matter#And I do see Adora doing a lot of that#being surprised when people don't like her trying to control them and then Adora spinning it defensively in her favor#it makes sense that she would and all it really means is that she is hurting someone because she wants something#and usually what she wants is to have solved the problem and now everyone is happy and no one is mad at her#idk#again not everything in the posts was 100% on point in my opinion#but it was very refreshing to see someone talk about a big part of who Adora is that is easily glazed over#sorry I tried to be short but I am incapable#hopefully this isn't just a shit show of me talking over you I really just mean to explain where I'm coming from and what I interpreted#but my god I don't know if I hit that mark or not

Feelings on Amma and how desperate she is for affection? She occupies my brain constantly but I’m not smart enough to talk about her.
*Rubs hands together like an uggo little housefly* I have sooo many thoughts okay so Amma is an abused child whose choice of coping mechanism for said abuse is to try and make believe some sense of control over her situation by pretending that she is in a symbiotic rather than abusive relationship with her mother, that she and her mother have a mutual understanding whereby Adora gets to uhh umm straight up poison her, but in exchange must shower her with the love that Amma knows, deep down, isn’t really there. Amma wants this compensation for her suffering, and the only currency of any value to her is her mother’s love, and the only consolation she has is that she might someday get to be a beautiful, perfect ghost, like Marian. That maybe someday, Adora will kill her, and she will have secured herself the best case scenario for a women in Wind Gap, which is to be perceived forever as the feminine ideal without the possibility of disgrace always looming overhead (similar ideas of The Dead Girl being society’s underlying feminine ideal, the inevitable outcome of the expectations placed on women and girls, were also explored in Gone Girl). We see Amma’s relationship with both her mother and Alan reflected in her relationships with sex and boys, in that she lets older boys sexually abuse her and tells herself she’s the one using them, and that these transactions are just that, transactional, the only kind of love she knows, and the boys largely inconsequential. And her dollhouse, her fancy, needs to be an exact replica of her mother’s house because it allows her to exercise control over an environment she otherwise has no real control over. Adora striking up friendships with Ann and Natalie was a breach of contract that had to be rectified, and so when murdering Ann and Natalie only ends up elevating them to the lauded status of Dead Girl, and they receive more attention than ever, Amma is beyond furious, and receives Camille with some measure of warmth because she is primed to find a new mother if the old one can’t keep up her end of the bargain, though she can’t rule Camille out as competition. And while she most certainly felt antipathy toward her victims, her romanticization of death is what really enables her to kill without remorse. After all, what she wouldn’t have given to be Marian, loved by her mother, loved by everyone, forever, without ever having to bleed for it again. Because nobody in her life loved Amma enough to help her until Camille, and by then it was already too late. And she doesn’t stop killing even after she knows it won’t get her the outcome she wants, because she needs to feel it again, that power over another person, another child, another girl. Amma has never felt less like a helpless victim, less like those murdered girls, in her whole life. Which just makes the whole thing that much easier.

My 6 favourite Scorptra + some little scenes I love
1. "You do care, don't tou?"
The scene that made Catra fully realize that she's not alone and that there is still someone who love her more than anything. Catra was everything for Scorpia.
And the most important thing is that Catra does the most selfless thing she could done: she refuses of Scorpia's help and doesn't let Scorpia set her free, bc she knows it can cause Scorpia troubles and she doesn't want to put Scorpia in the same situation. She doesn't want to be Like Shadow Weaver and doesn't want Scorpia to suffer bc of her.
Tumblr media
2. "We could, you know, be happy"
Catra was so stupid for not leaving with Scorpia and Ill stay by it. Also there is no "one-sided" explanation for this. Anyone who says Catra never loved Scorpia, litterally just skipped the entire episode. They were SO in love!
Especially considering the fact that they were suppose to kiss each other at that scene ans I will never forgive Nate for removimg it
Tumblr media
3. "You saved me?"
The moment when Catra's feelings for Scorpia startes to grow up. It's when Catra realize that Scorpia saved her, no matter what. Even tho Catra ordered Scorpia not to break the technology, Scorpia did it, bc it would save Catra. She disobeyed the order to protect her and you can read in Catra's eyes that she was shocked that she was THAT dear for someone. It makes even more sence when you remember Catra's words about Adora "You never protected me. Not in any way that would put you on SW's bad side". (no blame for Adora, she's still the best girl ofc) but the thing is that Adora wouldn't disobey to protect Catra from SW, but Scorpia did it and not once. Scorpia truly loved Catra and she would always do everything to protect her.
Tumblr media
4. "I will always be there for you"
Even tho Catra doesn't want to ask anyone for help and wants to do everything alone, Scorpia still makes her tell the situation to resolve it together. Bc that's what friends do, Catra doesn't have to deal with this alone.
Tumblr media
5. "You're a princess??"
Whatever the cat is this?? They were so iconic in the prom episode!
At first Catra was sympathetic with someone for the first time in the show lol. She asked Scorpia (to ask actually) to go to the prom together! It's already pretty romantic, but have you seen the rest of the scenes?
Also the screenboard where Catra zips Scorpia up lol (they really didn't have to remove it)
Tumblr media
6. "We're making a good team!"
Uhhh, just look at them here! They litterally THE girlfriends! Catra never was so flirty with anyone. She blushes as Amity lol. And just look at these EYES!!!
Tumblr media
Now heart-breaking scenes, cuz Im evil. S4 was so sad and for what? Im crying...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But since Im not THAT bad, here are some sweet scenes again! Cuz they're still cuties (it was a crime not to give us them in s5 btw, Ill never forgive Nate for this) <3
Protective gfs ever!
Tumblr media
I really love Scorptra even after so many years. I need someone to rewatch she-ra with!!!

Meaningless Suffering ≠ Consequences: An SPOP Rant Analysis
so one huge argument i've seen from SPOP fans, when it comes to Catra's redemption is that “she got tortured and mind controlled by Horde Prime. she almost died at his hands. therefore, she faced the consequences of her actions.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now.. could this be considered a consequence of her actions? the important question here is: why did Catra get punished by Prime? for going against his rules and freeing Glimmer. she got punished for doing one good thing. this was the consequence of her doing something right. if anything, she would be more discouraged to do good in the future, because the first time she does something good, she almost gets murdered for it.
but i digress. i've seen this trope be used with quite a few characters in media. the other example of this i want to talk about is Marcy from Amphibia. (spoilers for Amphibia below)
in the s2 finale, Marcy is revealed to have stranded her friends Anne and Sasha on Amphibia on purpose, because she didn't want to be alone. while this wasn't as bad as any of the shit that Catra pulled, it was still a fucked up thing to do. Marcy deliberately took Anne and Sasha away from their home and their parents, for her own selfish reasons.
like Catra, Marcy also has abandonment issues. her parents had informed her that they had to move and Marcy was terrified at the idea of having to leave Anne and Sasha behind. but that was still not an excuse for what she did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not long after her secret was exposed, Marcy gets stabbed by King Andrias while trying to escape Amphibia. she doesn't die, of course, it's still a kid's show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but to make things worse, she gets possessed by the Core later on, which is shown to be an extremely painful and traumatizing process (which they barely touch upon later). and then they show in a flashback that Anne and Sasha used to ignore Marcy and make her feel lonely, when this was not touched upon earlier in the series. in fact, Anne was shown to be very caring and attentive to Marcy up until this episode.
at this point, it's clear that the writers are trying to make the viewers feel sorry for Marcy. if they keep adding reasons why she's so miserable and traumatized, maybe the viewers would forget what she did to Anne and Sasha. right?
there is a small scene in s3 where Sasha questions why she should forgive Marcy, but it is quickly fixed by Anne telling Sasha that she should forgive Marcy. there's also a moment of realization for Marcy but even that is done in such a cliché and lighthearted manner, where the severity of her actions aren't addressed. and that's it. Marcy is rescued, she apologizes, and is immediately forgiven.
but then again, like SPOP, the last season of Amphibia was trashfire. i refuse to believe that people genuinely liked that season, it was so badly written and ruined everything that was set up prior to it.
anyway, let's come back to SPOP. it's clear that the writers of SPOP were also trying to do the same thing. put poor catgirl through the wringer, have her almost die and come back to life and voila! she is absolved of all her crimes.
for those of you who are still not convinced, let me try to make a real world comparison. let's just say i'm someone who bullies or abuses people. one day while getting home from school/work, i get hit by a car. i get grievously injured and go through a lot of pain. heck, maybe it even leaves some kind of permanent disability or injury.
is that a punishment for my actions? you can call it karma, but let's be real, karma doesn't exist. it's just a coincidence. and you bet i'm not going to wake up in the hospital thinking “this must be my punishment for abusing people”. if i really am an abuser who has no remorse for my actions, a random accident isn't going to change my mind.
and that's what happened with Catra too. she didn't consider Horde Prime's torture as a consequence of her actions. if anything, she used that as an excuse to mistreat Adora and the others even more. it's clear that she pitied herself for what happened. and everyone else pitied her, including the audience.
imagine if the good redemption arcs were written this way. imagine if, instead of working through his issues and facing actual consequences of his actions, Zuko was just tortured and traumatized even more by Ozai, and the Gaang just forgave him because they felt bad for him. yeah, people wouldn't be praising his arc anymore. or they would, who knows. i know i wouldn't be praising his arc.
because this is not the way to redeem a villain. the only way to redeem a villain is to have them face consequences of their actions and work for forgiveness. to show them consistently trying to make up for what they did and trying to be a better person, not because they want to be forgiven or accepted by the heroes, but because it's the right thing to do.

The Aftermath
The Beacon is a very... disjointed episode. It has the unfortunate placement of between two episodes that are, in my opinion, the two best that the show has to offer, and it doesn't matter how good this episode is, it suffers in the contrast.
The Beacon is trying to set up The Promise and still recovering from No Princess Left Behind, which means that it struggles to tie both together without feeling like a ton of disconnected events.
So, for the sake of analysis, let's look at those events on their own, and see what they do for the story as a whole. Because some of them are really well written.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
Catra's moments in this episode are genuinely some of the best little moments for her in the series. We see her kind nature start to show, ever so slightly. She is not kind, I want to stress this, a few actions do not make a redemption (yet), but we start to plant the seeds of that here.
Tumblr media
In Entrapta's interrogation scene, we see Catra being manipulative, that much is obvious. But it's interesting how she does it. Catra doesn't belittle, or lie, or even seem disingenuous with her compliments, she is just aware that compliments lead to allegiances, and she is trying desperately to befriend the single smartest person on Etheria.
"You're not mad? People usually get mad." "Are you kidding?"
There is an empathy here with Catra. I mentioned in the previous post that everyone's greatest strength is their greatest weakness. And the same is true for Catra. She is exceedingly emotionally attuned. She sees herself in Entrapta, as the person left behind. The side effect of this is that she falls on her sword a bit when Adora leaves, but also in a weird, other way.
Tumblr media
"Don't worry about that thing with Hordack. I've got plenty of experience getting yelled at... you get used to it."
Catra is talking to Shadow Weaver here, of all people. Why? Because she sees a person feeling low, and offers some condolences. Without concern for who she is, or what she has done. Catra offers a hand of peace. I want to stress that empathy isn't a weakness, that's not how this works, but it makes her easy prey for Shadow Weaver, because Catra is a child, a teenager, who is naive, and Shadow Weaver is evil.
But how does Shadow Weaver return the openness that Catra has displayed?
Tumblr media
"I will not get used to mediocrity like you"
She returns kindness with an insult, and through her touch. Shadow Weaver desires power above all else, so when she is at her weakest, she tries to grab it from the one person she thinks she can mentally overpower.
This is why Catra is the way she is, any attempt at kindness is met with animosity for reasons she has no command in. But that little influence of Adora, and now Scorpia and even Entrapta, has kept the instinct alive. The empathy is there, just buried deep under the surface.
Tumblr media
"I just wanted to prepare you for the world"
I love that Shadow Weaver has worked out her tactics are failing on Catra, so she tries giving the Adora treatment to her, and even that fails. I think that's rather satisfying. I pity her, but it is definitely gratifying to see her this low.
Shadow Weaver fits the same bill as everyone else in the series (strengths and weaknesses being the same), but she forms a weird parallel with Bow of all people. Shadow Weaver thinks big picture, she is the strategist, and she gets undermined time and again by the tiny things, such as personal determination, and unconditional love. This parallel isn't dwelled upon, but it's a neat thing to point out that Shadow Weaver's opposite isn't Catra or Adora, but Bow.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Bow. The man is supportive of everyone, similarly to Sea Hawk. Bow still thinks big picture, but the difference between him and Shadow Weaver is that when Bow meets a wall, instead of thinking of a way to break it down, he finds another route. Bow is a strategist of the heart, making sure everyone is at their best and ready to step in to keep people's moral up, should they need it.
I also really like Glimmer's line:
"Your sorry is wrong and mine is right."
I think this is extremely revelatory about Glimmer, but that won't come up for a while.
Tumblr media
Finally, there is Adora.
Under stress, she reverts. This is what Shadow Weaver did to her, she gave her a few set behaviours in response to certain stimuli. Notably, when scared, punch what I tell you. Shadow Weaver isn't here to give a target, so Adora decks the first thing she can get her hands on. Namely, this light.
There are other sections in the episode when she is in the background of other shots. And instead of just standing there, and looking apathetic, she shadow boxes. Adora cannot focus when she's directionless.
So naturally, she jumps at the opportunity to heal Glimmer, including possibly stabbing her, just to feel useful. Again, preprogrammed responses. She needs to feel useful, so she will run towards whomever is offering her that purpose.
Tumblr media
"You want me to be weak? Well (Throws Sword), I am"
This leads into the above line. Adora believes she needs to be weak, and the first thing she does to achieve that is return to her original form and throw away her sword. Adora has associated strength with ability to achieve a given task. In this case, heal.
But the fascinating thing is how she goes about the accountability of failing. She has a weird internalisation of good things being She-Ra's fault, and bad things being Adora's fault. It's awful.
Tumblr media
I'm going to finish this on a mildly happy note, because Glimmer and Angella have a really sweet interaction in this episode. Its the reassurance that a parent figure can offer. She offers support, and affirmation that this may not have worked, but it wasn't because of Glimmer's ideals, but her methods, which can be worked on.
Compare the following two lines.
"I will not get used to mediocrity like you" "We'll figure it out, together."
I have boldened a few words, because they reveal character quite nicely. One tries to separate the speaker from its subject, complete with an insult and a comparison, the other is supportive and constructive, and strives to make the listener understand this fact. Angella is a great mum.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
This episode isn't particularly memorable. Which isn't its own fault. It is sandwiched by The Promise and No Princess Left Behind, which both render it rather uninspiring.
But this episode is actually quite decent. Its moments string together cohesively enough, and Marcus Scribner (Bow's Voice Actor) kills every line.
However, that opening sequence steals the show for me, as everyone leaves on their own way. That was why Entrapta's fake out death doesn't feel cheap. It actually hurts these people, and they don't get over it. This is a death that has its cake and eats it too, and that's a difficult thing to pull off. I think the thing that sells it is this is the only scene so far in the show (I think) in which Sea Hawk stays quiet, the events of the previous episode have managed to make the bard stop singing.

Listen I know there's already a lot of analyses on why Catra hate is biased but I just realized there's an absolutely perfect example of this, right down to the tries to kill the protag but the fandom ships it detail.
Goro Fucking Akechi.
Tumblr media
And before I start - please know that I hold no actual ill-will toward this sociopathic murderer. And if you've never played Persona 5, no, I am NOT exaggerating. But we'll get into that.
Akechi is set up pretty early on to be a foil to the game's protagonist, Joker. And the uh... gay undertones are NOT subtle.
Tumblr media
They never actually become A Thing in game, but it's a VERY popular ship in the fandom. Now what crimes did this little uWu commit?
Literal Murder. Not like, his actions lead to the death of someone, but he actually pointed a gun and pulled the trigger
His actions do also lead to the death of more people by causing a crash in the Tokyo subway system
Attempted murder against Joker - you know, the guy everyone ships him with
Impersonating a genius teenage boy detective (no that's not quite on the level of murder but it's a crime to me and an insult against Naoto from Persona 4)
Now, don't get me wrong, his backstory is pretty messed up. His birth father, a man named Shido, knocked up his mother, who worked in the Red Light District, and eventually killed herself, leaving Akechi an orphan to be passed around by relatives who didn't really care about him.
Akechi took two things from his upbringing - one, he had to be perfect in order to be acceptable to people. Two, a burning hatred of his birth father and a desire to see him suffer.
He eventually ends up working with his father, Shido, who's manipulating the masses using the Metaverse (don't worry if you don't know what that is, it's complicated) to make everyone love him. Akechi works with him while secretly building up his own plan on the side - to disgrace Shido when he's elected and then kill him.
All the while he's also working with Joker and the rest of the main cast and trying to manipulate them (they do manage to see through him, but that's another thing).
Again, I love Akechi. I do. I think he's a wonderfully complicated character and a little trash boy who just needs love. But he did so many bad things. And he did a lot of them solely to get revenge against Shido, and toward the end out of resentment/envy of Joker. And in the very, very end he makes the right choice and sacrifices himself to save Joker.
Now let's go over Catra's life real quick:
Raised in a horrible environment, often neglected, knew she wasn't wanted or really loved
Stepped into a villain role where she did terrible things, some of which led to the death of another person (Angella)
Fought against Adora
Ultimately sacrificed herself to save Adora
Went on to help save the world
It's almost uncanny how Akechi's story lines up with Catra's. And while I'm sure Akechi has haters, the people who love him and still ship him with Joker are far, far louder. And I get that! I too wish Akechi could have had a happy ending, but I don't think it was ever really in the cards for him. But he's a guy, so he's a little uWu.
Catra, meanwhile, is an angry woman and gets none of the leeway that angry men usually get (see also: Zuko). Even sacrificing herself to save Adora couldn't earn her any redemption in some people's eyes.
And I don't like comparing characters, especially ones from different franchises, don't get me wrong. But it's interesting to me how often men are forgiven for far worse crimes than women in media, and Akechi is a grade-A example of doing the absolutely worst things he could while still being loved by the fandom.

She-Ra cast as drinking buddies
Adora - She's great. Friendly and eager and up for anything. Hope you like to talk about horses, though. Try to keep her away from arm wrestling or that's what you're doing the rest of the evening.
Glimmer - She's an angry drunk. Or a happy drunk. Or a crying drunk. Or she challenges everyone in the bar on dart. Whatever she does, she'll do it with a hundred percent intensity. If someone picks a fight with you, you'll have to hold her back before she smashes a bottle and cuts a bitch.
Bow - He's everyones bestest buddie. He will pay for the drinks, listen to your rants, hold up your head over the toilet and help rain in Glimmer.
Catra - She's really guarded at first, but when the inhibitions drops either the claws or the tears come out. Step very carefully around her. Also, if she wants to have your jacket, it's her jacket now.
Scorpia - She's a delight. Friendly and considerate and a good listener. Although there is this feeling that she has some stuff of her own she's just dying to talk to someone about… if you open the floodgates, be prepared for a lot of tears and to listen for the next few hours.
Entrapta - Let's be honest - she won't listen to a word you say and she'll most likely have dismantled the beer pump and invented a new kind of drink before the evening is over, but you won't be bored.
Mermista - Surprisingly good company, once you get past the attitude. Keeps the drinks coming and have some good stories between all the 'Uuuuuughs'.
Sea Hawk - Life of the party. Shanties and drinks and arm wrestling. It's fun to have fun with frieeeeeends. Will probably have set something on fire and got you kicked out (unrelated incidents) before the evening is over, and never shuts up about Mermiiiiiiiista.
Swift Wind (did someone say Swift Wind?) - Pair him with Adora or Sea Hawk and no net amount of brain cells will have been added to the party. Up for anything and a good sport, though. Expect singing.
Perfuma - Friendly and considerate and works really hard to be a good listener, but if you just want a drink and some chit-chats rather than a group therapy session she's a bit too much. Try to appeal to her inner theatre kid to channel her energies into something more entertaining.
Netossa - PUT THE JÄGERMEISTER AWAY! EVERYTHING DOESN'T NEED TO BE A COMPETITION!
Spinnerella - The team mom makes sure everyone has a good time and stays hydrated.
Frosta - Thinks it's super unfair that she isn't allowed to drink. Still, if you get her to settle down in the juice bar she can be tons of fun.
Castaspella - Fruit drinks and party hats for everyone! Better step up your game, because everyone's friendly wine aunt won't let anyone be bored.
Shadow Weaver - The drinks are bad and the atmosphere is worse and you are beneath her notice. If you can get through her barrage of insults and appeal to her pride, she has the best stories though. Don't expect to come out of it unscarred.
Hordak - He will sit stiff, uncomfortable and completely silent for three drinks, and then he will speak in monotone voice with increasing amount of rage about the injustices he has suffered. Someone might die before the night is over, but it will sure be memorable
Horde Prime - Wonderful company - if your idea of a good time is hearing a narcisist yap on about himself and demand your constant attention. Otherwise, prepare to have a lousy time. Don't leave your drinks alone with him at any time.
Wrong Hordak - LOOK BROTHER, I'M PARTAKING! chugs beer LOOK, BROTHER! DO YOU SEE ME PARTAKE?
Imp - WHO LET THAT LITTLE SHIT INTO THE BAR? Good luck catching him when he zooms around the ceiling.
Emily - I'll be honest, I didn't know robots could drink. Neither did I know they can DISCO, but Emily proves me wrong on both counts.
Angella - Good luck getting her to settle down and relax. No, Angella, the fact that you heard a siren doesn't mean Glimmer has set something on fire (we hope, at least). Has no idea how the social codes are supposed to work, but likes to feel included.
Micah - At home in any company and a great listener. If you're lucky you'll get some stories out of him that will start with "Oh, it's nothing special. We all have that evil teacher that tricked you into helping her kill the entire senior faculty, right?" and spirals from there.
Juliet - The royal guard is never off duty. She might haul you off to cool down if you get too rowdy, but that's it.
Rogelio - Great listener, but not that good a conversationalist.
Kyle - Goddamit, Kyle!
Lonnie - Yes, Lonnie, you can drink more than me. Yes, Lonnie, you can arm wrestle me. No, Lonnie, I wasn't trying to start any shit with Kyle. Sorry, Lonnie, I'll stay out of your way.
Double Trouble - "Hey, you know what would be REALLY funny. If you distract the bartender, I'll… do a thing. No, don't worry about it. Just a thing. It will be funny."
Huntara - Two rules in the Crimson Waste, where one is not to disturb her as she drinks. If you're on her in-list, prepare to have a good time. If you're not, step carefully around her.
Tung Lashor - Sometimes all you want is someone to chug beer and shout the refrains to some stupid songs with. Just keep him away from cats.
Octavia - You know what, better keep her away from cats as well.

C*tr* fans:

me: 1) the part of " all C*tr* did was apologize and she still was inmidiatly forgiven " it's true, even she only apologize to Adora and Entrapta, the others forgive her as nothing happens like. Then when did C*tr* sacrifice her life and her free will to a mind-wipping empire to save the life of her enemy ? wehn only see how she abused Adora also she DID NOT become a better, she just choose it because there was nothing left for her and for guion power. 2) no because i'm not an abusive toxic person as C*tr* who is obssesed with her sister Adora and again i remind that C*tr* did not apologize and/or took resposabilities of her actions because the show says so and C*tr* was not afraid of die because on the portal episode we watched that C*tr* didn't seem to be afraid of dying and nop, i don't have a deep heart down to able to do what C*tr* did because i'm not an abusive toxic person. And finally 3) key word " kids " C*tr* is a kid ? nop, she's a teenager who knew what was doing and still do awfull things to Adora, kill and hurt innocent people and destroy cities and use the terms " kids who are victims of abuse CAN break circle and have a happy ending " is in between because yes it's true that some kids are victims of abuse but we are talking about little kids not a teenager who knows what are they doing and C*tr* did wanted to continue the cicle of abuse so it's her fault for staying in the horde and not go with Adora that if she really loved her she could easy go with Adora to brightmoon but decided to stay in the horde and for what ? " have a happy endingg, and that no one is truly undeserving love " agreed kids who has suffered abuse deserves so much better and a happy ending excetp of C*tr* she deserves worse and deserve to have a punishment or at least call out for all the mess she has done!! " it is such a poweful menssage of the show that i love so much " dude idk what menssage is that you forgive your abuser sibling that murder and hurt people, destroy cities, home and families and still got a happy ending when actually deserves to be on jail or are you going to tell me that Palestines will forget what Isr*el are doing and give them a happy ending too just like in she-ra ?? ( i'm sorry my hate for C*tr* got out of my nerves sorry sorry )
friend, sorry for the long post but this is all my thoughts on this post that really don't make sence but well now i'm gonna try to post glimmadora, tell me what do you think about what this C//A stan says about C*tr* and her rushed redeemtion ?? do you agree with me about what i think or you think i miss something ??
DO NOT HARASS THE PERSON IN THIS POST
Ah, I do love seeing bad takes in the fandom. For the first one, does she really deserve applause when she only left after there was nothing left for her in the horde? She had so many choices to better herself beforehand but chose to do it only after the rebellion was quite literally her only choice. For the second one, I'm pretty sure most catra antis didn't attempt to kill their sister 2 times and abused their sister for years. She literally committed war crimes. She's not some kind person. For the last one, we know abuse victims can break the cycle. All the antis I've seen love Adora and she's an abuse victim people seem to forget that. Also we aren't saying Catra doesn't deserve love?? We just think she shouldn't of date her sister whom she abused for years.

catra having implied BPD do NOT justify her actions.
nothing justifies. she IS an abuser.
explanation under the cut.
i can tell because i also have BPD. and saying that catra's actions are okay because she has BPD is the equivalent as:
1. implying that people with BPD are, by default, abusers;
i know this may seem like an exaggeration, but pay attention: by saying that catra's abusive actions are acceptable because she has BPD, you are correlating the fact that she is an abuser with the fact that she has BPD. i mean, i, as someone with BPD, never tried to kill someone and abuse them for my entire life.
2. babying people who have BPD and making it seem like we shouldn't suffer consequences for actions like ABUSING OTHER PEOPLE.
yes, we should. we tend to victimize ourselves more than others, we tend to have a lot of anger issues and we tend to see ourselves as bad people when we do something we consider wrong. but that doesn't justify hurting another person in such a harsh way as abuse. it just might explain some of our actions, but that's it. for example, i already had a very strong "anger attack" and ended up offending people around me without thinking, but i realized i was wrong and regretted it not long after. Yes, i apologized. yes, i redeemed myself. and yes, i have recovered from that bad experience as well as the people i offended. catra could have done the same: realized what she had done wrong and tried to improve, but she didn't. she continued to feed her own hatred and act worse and worse. I KNOW: every person with BPD deals with it in a different way. catra's abuse also have contributed to her character. however, it's just as i said: everything may explain. NOTHING justifies.
3. making adora's abuse about catra.
i don't really think i should explain this one, but here we go: if you already understood what i explained in the topics before this one and still try to find a way to justify catra's awful actions, then you're simply making adora's abuse entirely about catra. i mean, if your friend was being abused and told you that, would you ask "but what about your abuser? did they got abused too?"... no, you probably wouldn't.
that's essentially it. i tried to handle this subject in the most simple and easy to understand way, while also trying to be as delicate as possible.

"What the hell is wrong with you!"
You watched as Catra aimed to claw Scorpia's face. Luckily she back away just in time. You looked around, trying to see if anyone would stand up to Catra, but everyone was avoiding looking at them.
"You can't treat her like that!"
Catra looked towards all the cadets, "Who said that." She pointed a finger towards you all.
They all took a step back, leaving you at the front line. "Backstabbing snitches," You groan under your breath.
"What do you know about being Force Captain?" She asks, walking closer to you.
"I know how to treat my teammates. No wonder Adora left."
You knew the moment those words left your mouth you were a dead woman. Lonnie was about to speak up, but Catra raised her hand. "Everyone leave."
"But-"
Catra whips around towards Scorpia, "LEAVE NOW! ALL OF YOU." You were about to turn around, but Catra points towards you, "Expect you... Y/n, right?"
"What does it matter?"
She didn't speak until the last cadet left the room. But, not before Scorpia looked back, giving you a look of sympathy.
"You stepped out of line, Soldier."
"I sure did. And I would do it again. You were out of line-"
Her laugh interrupts you. She gestures to the room, "Do you know where we are, Y/n?"
"The Horde?"
"Hell. We are in Hell. This isn't Princess land, you've got to look out for yourself."
"That's a terrible thing to say, Catra."
"Well, it's true and that's why I'm Force Captain and you're just a Soldier."
"Yeah, but you're also willing to step on anyone that gets in your way."
"Maybe you should be more like me."
"I'd rather be dead."
"Well, if you ever," She steps closer to you, causing you to step back, "Try standing up to me again, I will give you death." She retracts her claws, bringing them close to your face.
You gulp, tilting your head up.
"Don't ever cross me again."
----
For the past two months, since the incident, Catra had decided to keep you close. She didn't need anyone thinking they could act like you and step up to her. If they saw that she kept you in line, they'd learn there are consequences.
She had you on cleaning duties, but she was always present when you did it. She said it was to make sure you did it right, but you think she has a sick twisted pleasure in watching people suffer.
You snarled, scrubbing at the walls of the cafeteria. Catra sat at one of the tables, her feet propped up on the table. She leaned on her hand and you looked up at her frustrated.
"Can I stop now? I've been doing this for 5 hours."
"I haven't broken a sweat."
"I hate you."
"I'll live. Besides I don't care."
You roll your eyes and continue to scrub. Catra gets up from her seat, stretching out her back. She sighs, before kneeing to your level, "Come with me."
"Where?"
"You ask to many questions. Come," She uses the 'Come here' motion.
You begrudgingly and reluctantly follow behind her. She took you down familiar paths and doors, before leading you to Cadet Rooms. You hadn't been in these rooms in ages.
"Lay down," She gestures to the bed that you assumed was once hers and Adora's.
You awkwardly lay on the uncomfortable bed, struggling to fit inside the small compartment. She laughed at your struggle and you glare at her. She jumps on you, practically sitting on your bladder, just like a fucking cat.
"God, Catra, can you move?"
She rolls her eyes, but moves her legs and scoots up your chest. She puts her pointer finger on your forehead, lightly pushing you back.
"Why don't you just lay down, Y/n?"
"This isn't a very comfortable bed, Catra."
"Nothing's comfortable in the Horde. Now shut up," She shoves you down, hard.
You groan when feeling the hard concrete-like beds slam into your back. God, you were now realizing why you had back problems. She slowly rubbed herself on you, confusing you.
You were going to question what the FUCK she was doing, but you heard her whimper the name 'Adora' and you made a face of realization. You tried pushing against her, but she quickly grabbed your hands.
"If you let me do this, you'll never have to clean the food court again."
You spread your legs and pulled back your hands, "So what are we doing?"
"WE're not doing anything. You're going to shut up and I'm going to do what I want," She gets off you, before grabbing something from a cabinet.
You were scared, but it was just a cadet's headset. You were confused, but she put it on you and your vision was obscured. You could no longer see Catra, but you could feel her rubbing against you.
"You're such a bitch," You could feel her hands grip your throat. You reached for her, trying to stop her, "I don't know why you left. Why you think those stupid princesses are better than me."
You could feel your face redden at the buzzing sound of Catra's voice. Where these helmets always bad at taking in sound? Huh, maybe you had a hearing problem? You could feel the removal of your pants and you froze.
"Um Catra-"
"Shut up, Adora."
You could feel her sharp claws get threateningly close to your neck. She slowly thrusted into you back and forth. The only thing you could hear was her light moans of Adora's name and 'Yes! Mmmm, yeah! Ahhh.' Man, you wish you were on whatever the hell she was on.
You then felt something wet run across your cervix. The claws you were terrified of, but would never admit due to your pride, were circling around your clit, pressing into it. You could feel her stick her tongue down your vagina, and squish your gummy walls.
Catra could feel your gummy walls squeeze and flush against her sharp tongue. Your body shivers as you feel her little spines roughly groom your insides. She licked up your opening, making sure you're soaked.
There was a long drown of silence and you thought it was over. That was until you felt Catra grab one of your thighs and lifting it up. She pushed her pussy into your, causing you to loudly moan.
She heard you, causing her to smirk to herself, "Aww, look at you, enjoying it?"
She wasn't actually asking, it was just teasing. She continued to thrust into you, her moans echoing in your ears.
"Adora... Adora... ADORA!" She moaned loudly, before everything slows down.
You can hear her get off the bed and what sounds like her putting on clothes.
"If you ever tell anyone about this, I'll kill you."
You nodded your head, totally on board with keeping this between you both. And then you heard the door shut. You went to move your hands, but you quickly realized you were immobilized.
Oh god, did that bitch tie you up?

i feel like at this point, catra stans are deliberately misunderstanding our point. they keep saying that we just hate seeing abuse victims getting a happy ending and that we can't fathom the idea of a bad person changing for the better, when most antis i've seen has said multiple times that they just wanted a better redemption arc for catra.
liking or sympathizing with someone doesn't mean that you have to excuse all of their actions and let them get away with anything. you can like catra and still hold her accountable for her actions but it seems like catra simps refuse to understand this, and instead act like we're villains who just want catra to suffer and die.
Yeah, I for one relate to Catra and I was very disappointed with her redemption. It was cheap and was resumed to "forgiveness". First, no one should be forced to forgive someone that hurt them; it's their choice alone. Second, if they choose to forgive, they don't have to be in that person's life. It's a lot more complex than just saying "I'm sowwy :(" "I forgive you :) now we're buddies!". Forgiveness can be really hard.
Catra's apologies are INCREDIBLY vague, like, come on. She only says "I'm sorry for everything" to Adora - and Catra still treats Adora like shit. I don't remember exactly her apology to Entrapta but I know it was brief and didn't detail anything (Entrapta mentioned the events of s3 but she didn't seem hurt about being sent to Beast Island or like. Catra manipulating Entrapta into believing she was abandoned). Scorpia, then? Catra didn't even say the word "sorry". Scorpia just instantly forgave her despite the fact she wasn't even there for Catra's "progress". She was chipped the whole time. Same for Micah and Mermista.
The show refused any accountability, which should be essential to a redemption arc. Not to beat a dead horse, but there's a reason why Zuko's arc is so remarkable. We joke about the "fieldtrips", but Zuko helps each person individually, first Aang, then Sokka, and finally Katara, the person he most personally betrayed. When Zuko first tries to join the Gaang, they reject him. They don't trust him. And they're right for it! So Zuko proves that he's better over and over again, until he gains their trust in a natural way. While Iroh isn't there to see all of it, he can tell by Zuko's mere return to his uncle and his remorse alone that his nephew found his path again. Also note that Zuko doesn't make excuses, he just straight up says, "I'm so sorry and ashamed for what I did", and implies he would do anything to gain Iroh's trust again. Similarly to how he approached Katara in The Southern Raiders.
SPOP, however, only tells us Catra is "working" to be better. When she really doesn't. Too bad most of the fandom eats all that up without giving a second thought. Then they accuse us of hating abuse victims or mentally ill people, when I'm pretty sure a lot of us are both of those things.

Hey so i someone who really liked entrapta and i hated the other character treatment toward her but hordak who actually listen to her. Despite how i hated them but i think people are too focused on hating them not the actual issue with this writing. Did the executive somehow approved of this horrible writing, and one of the writer also actually writing this without considering the impact maybe?
So i been waiting for someone to atleast call out the character horrible treatment toward entrapta and please let them be hold accountable. I admit i wish the worst upon them but i also realized the suffering i wish is not gonna fix the issue and i want to make it clear this does not invalidated people feeling toward the character who are being ableist toward entrapta that's still valid.
SPOP if in charge of this show
The character who are in adora or shera side are not friend with entrapta. So despite entrapta want to make friend with them they not interested. So they just more of acquitance
Make stronger redemption for catra character
Catradora less abusive and incest. So while she did take the orphan adora and catra she only being mentor toward them not adopted parent. Her favoritism is obvious
Make cooler design for the character
Thank you for the ask, this is good. Is also true that is concerning how the writers wrote Entrapta and the other characters the way they did and didnt notice anything wrong with it.
"Oh, lets make the heroes put the character who has autism be put on a leash and make it a joke!!!" Im sorry, WHAT?

no one asked, but here we go:
.
every spop-centered AU i have so far ( most of them are not public and just live in my brain or in some discord chat )
.
Virtues Universe - A universe that centers around Adora and Catra's ( positive ) sisterly relationship, Catra joining the Rebellion alongside her sister. Includes Adonnie and Catfuma ( Adora x Lonnie, Catra x Perfuma ) and Adora becoming a Rebellion Leader before becoming She-Ra ( in s2 ). I think this is the one AU I have where Catra isn't a bad person, lol.
Her Heart Universe - A universe where Adora is an alien on Earth, and is in the care of Mara and Razz. Includes learning values, social struggles, and episodic stories turning into a serialized "we gotta get our shit together or die" story.
Two Suns Universe - A universe where the key sibling relationship is Adora and Kyle, rather than Adora and Catra. Includes loving siblings, redemption arcs, Crimson Waste Kyle, and Kyle x Rogelio x Bow. Lots of Kyle love.
The Wilted Flower Universe - A universe where Adora's 'dead' ( bc Catra ), but her spirit resides, and She-Ra has taken over her form, desperate to keep her wielder alive. Includes a lot of violence, arguing, and blood, as She-Ra is unhinged in this universe and I love it. Not self-cest or a She-Ra x Adora AU, don't be weird.
Pearl Of The Sea Universe - A universe where Adora is a mermaid and Entrapta finds her in her boss' lab. Includes lovers to enemies to ??? ( entrapdak ), found family, and typical corrupted workforce.
Until It Ends Universe - A universe where Adora suffers from amnesia, She-Ra is an unknown entity, and the only thing she remembers is the Sword of Protection and is meant to serve it and its legacy. Includes folklore, forming friendships, ??? to enemies ( catra ), and discovering lost memories. Inspired by BOTW.
Ready To Go Universe - A modern universe where Adora and co use social media to boost their cafe's reputation. Includes Angella being Adora's mother figure, long distance relationships, found family ( again ), and cutting ties.
The Ghost Of Her Universe - A universe where Adora is a ghost, and a friend of hers tries to figure out how she died. And Glimmer and Bow are there too. Includes abusive background, manipulation of the higher-ups ( SW and Catra don't talk about why she died ), and friendly, but sad ghost.
To Be Loved Universe - A universe in the process of being reworked, but is essentially a s5 rewrite ( with some rewritten details of previous seasons ), and Adora is allowed to swear. Incluces Catra being a cunt and getting told to fuck off, rebuilding friendships, and an unexpected pairing.
Can't Sleep Universe - A universe focused around my c*tradora kid, Elizabeth Randor ( Izzy ), who is very bitter and angry with her parents ( mostly Catra ). Includes abuse, divorce arc ( that's a thing, apparently ), and healing.
The Whispering Woods Universe - A universe where Adora is raised by Madame Razz and Light Hope and is a fierce protector of the Whispering Woods, setting up traps and making spells. She-Ra most likely doesn't exist in this AU. Includes learning about the past, Grandma // Grandkid dynamic, and Adora being a nerd.
Desert's Flowers Universe - A universe where Entrapta raises Adora instead after the little one runs away from the Horde. Includes loving mother, family to complicated, strangers to allies to friends to ??? to enemies ( entrapdak again ), and Horde Prime being a douche.
The Lightning's Song Universe - A universe where Adora was locked away in the Prison Dimension for 100 years, and is considered a 'corrupted heroine'. However, Glimmer and Bow decide to unleash her, hoping she'd be their best bet against the Horde. Includes discovering the truth, unhinged rageful Adora ( we stan ), and earning trust.
The Soulmates Universe - A more historian universe where Adora and Bow have to fake-marry for social reasons, and struggle with internalized queerphobia as they fall in love with people that aren't each other. Includes best friends, what love really means, and identity metaphors.
.
Cross-Over Universes
Danganronpa - Adora is the Ultimate Warrior, who may be considered the 'second Mukuro', depending on who you ask. Is best friends with Sakura and Hina ( including others ).
Teen Titans - Adora gets involved in a freak accident and is sent to the TT universe and joins the group. Adora x Starfire is a thing.
Sonic the Hedgehog - Light-hearted fun, mainly just Adora thinking Sonic is really cool and vice-versa.
Mario - Again, simply light-hearted fun, Adora thinks Peach is amazing and has her as an idol.
Voltron - I know. I know. But she'd be best friends with Lance, and that's all the reason I need.
almost all AUs feature Catra getting her ass whooped.

So, just like people say "don't compare my uwu catgirl to Bojack 🤬", I will say it about Azula and Catra. Uhh stop comparing them!!!
Azula and Catra are far far far not the same. Just bc they're smart female villains with mommy issues doesn't make the comparable. There are many reasons, but I'll point out the main ones:
1. Simply their ages. Catra is an adult. She was in her 20's and she's fully responsible for her actions. She's not like a child who doesn't understand how the world works or what is good or what is bad. While Azula is 14, a CHILD. At this age she can't be even responsible for her own actions in most of the world. Children are not sapose to have critical thinking and their actions at this age are responsility of their parents.
2. Catra was fully awared of how bad her actions are and it was the whole point and reason why she did them. She wanted to take a revenge to everyone, especially Adora and actually WANTED to hurt people. She admits it herself that she knows how bad the Horde was and she's completely fine with it. She stayed at it bc she didn't want to come with Adora to the good side. And what about Azula? Everything she did was for the best of her own country. Her goal was never to hurt people, it was to do the best for her country and her own people. Azula was under propaganda and literally everyone in her country (even Iroh and Zuko before) supported their war crimes. No one even thought that their actions can be bad. So, obviously, neither Azula, nor anyone who supported her, Intented anything bad. They were completely sure what they were doing was right. All this time Azula was just a weapon to use, not even a person. Azula's own wishes never played role in anything. She was doing what she was ordered to and what Ozai wanted her to do. No one gave a shit about what she wanted to do
3. Catra had like 6446745 chances to change and to become a good person. Adora suggested it to Catra MULTIPE times. Everyone felt bad and sorry for her, udnerstood her and knew she was abused and they really tried to help her. Adora offered her left the Horde and become a good person so many times, but Catra just wasn't interested. She knew she can live better in a better place while doing good things, but she just didn't want to. She was focused on her own trauma and choce to keep suffering. But what about Azula? No one ever showed her that she can live different. The only life she ever knew was being a weapon for Ozai and her own country. No one ever suggested her a help or tried to give her a chance to become a better person. No one even felt bad for her (not even Zuko, Iroh, Ursa or even her friends). They even refused to see her as another abuse victim of Ozai, bc "she was the Golden child so she couldn't be abused" (hey, Adora). Everyone left her and no one ever tried to understand her. She was left on her own with no one else around. No one sympathised her and no one cared about her. That's so cruel.
And comparing Azula to Catra is just so unfair
