This certainly ended up being a little bit of a crack fic but it ended up amusing. Hope you enjoy it.

At first, he scoffs as such a time-wasting thing as wanting to watch dozens of movies.  Where is the educational value in this?

He is just too polite to refuse to listen, so he’ll end up letting you describe all your favorite scenes to him.

You are better off if he doesn’t take an interest because, if he does, he is going to turn into the worst sort of comic book geek.  Be ready to have him quote lore from issues of source material at you during any discussion on this from now on.

What do you mean who would win?  In Volume 3 #3, Thor clearly defeated Iron Man.  Don’t get upset Prefect, I don’t write the lore, I just recite it.

Doesn’t appear to be interested but, if you pause long enough, he’ll prompt you to go on.  It’s important to you, so he’ll try to care at least a little.

You’d never tell him this, but you love to banter with him because it reminds you of your favorite character.  Sometimes you wonder if he’d be pleased or offended to know who you remind him of.

Movie marathons?  Not only is he willing to do them with you, but he is also often the one who suggests them.  Don’t be deceived though, it’s not for the movie but for the quality nap time on the couch with you. 

Don’t turn that off, Herbivore, I’m watching it.  What do you mean I don’t know what’s going on?  This is the part where we learn her mom isn’t dead after all.  So quiet down and keep the lights off.

Please, he is in Board Game Club with Idia. You think this is the first time he has hmmm’d himself through a conversation about fictional characters?

Wait, you say that this makes a ton of money?  Tell him more about this merchandising and licensing.  Especially that, what do you call it…ah, Happy Meal.

You can eventually talk him into watching the movies with you for ‘research purposes.’  When you do, you can’t help but notice how teary-eyed he gets at the sad scenes.  He’s just so sensitive!

Deadpool is also his favorite character.  He feels a sort of connection to certain parts of his story.

So, she chooses to stay with him even though he looks like that?  No, I’m not blubbering.  No, I don’t need you to cuddle with me.  Ok, fine.  Just for a little while. 

He doesn’t get it, but he still loves it.  Sure, you have to explain everything to him three times, but he gets excited over your excitement.  Call him any time to talk about your theories on how things would have gone if Thanos had made a different wish on the infinity gauntlet.  He doesn’t mind if it’s 3 AM (just don’t let Jamil find out).

Movie marathons turn into parties.  Why just watch the movies when you can have themed snacks and dress up too?  Hulk smash cakes and Black Widow berry cobbler?  Yes, please.

His favorite part of any film is the soundtrack.  If he hears a song he likes, he gets up to dance along.  It’s pretty disruptive when you are watching the movie but when you see how much fun he is having, you find you don’t really mind after all.

Sorry Prefect, Jamil says we can’t have dance battles in Scarabia anymore.  Ooh!  But come by the Pop Music Club later.  I’m going to play all my favorite songs for Cater and Lilia. Ahaha!

You were worried Vil would dismiss your favorite Marvel films as inferior art, but he is actually rather generous about it.  He believes the film should suit the audience and, as so, there is nothing wrong with films like this that serve to entertain the masses.

Still, he can’t help but be critical of everything while you watch.  He doesn’t criticize the things you’d talk about with your friends but topics you’d hardly even notice while you watched like the set design and lighting.

You notice Vil seems secretly fond of Loki.  You think the idea of the Villain that survives the main movies to get his own spotlight series appeals to him.

No, Potato, I’m just saying the angle isn’t right for this sort of tone.  A shot from below would be more effective.  Plus…wait, are you having more popcorn?  I don’t think so, it’s past the time you can snack before bed.

You had expected Idia to be all in on the Marvel Universe but, at first, he is oddly resistant to it.  He’d rather recommend you one of his own favorite hero movies.  If you disagree on which is better, he is more than willing to fight with you over why his is best!

After a heated argument, he puts on some of the movies to watch so he can come up with targeted points about why his own shows are better.  This does not work out for him as he gets sucked in himself.  Next time you meet up, he wants to go over tiny bits of lore and speculate on future plot lines from hints in the past movies.

You might think his favorite would be Iron Man because they both are innovative engineers, but he is a fan of Ant Man.  Shrinking down to a size where you can hide from everyone; it’s an introvert’s dream!

Prefect, this is serious business!  I’ve drawn up plans.  So long as we sleep only 2 hours a day and avoid taking any breaks for food, studying, and showers, we can finish at least three seasons this weekend.  True fans like us need to be ready to sacrifice for the shows we love!

There are many things Tusnotarou doesn’t understand, and this is one of them.  For starters, he barely knows how to use his smartphone, let alone how to stream movies and shows.  So, before you can even start explaining the plot, you must explain the whole concept of series and interconnecting shows to him.

He doesn’t get it, but he is happy to watch with you.  Your reactions to the show are far more amusing to him than the actual show.  Plus, he feels like he learns so much about the human world from your conversations.  A subway, how intriguing an idea.  Humans are so fascinating.

Even though he watches politely, he isn’t very impressed.  They can fly?  Well so can he.  Magic, lightning, superstrength?  All just part of being a dragon.  Perhaps instead of being interested in these superheroes, you’d rather learn more about him?

 Lilia, do you think I am a superhero?  The Prefect has been explaining this concept to me in great detail lately.  I can’t help but notice the many things I have in common with these so-called heroes.  Why yes, Lilia, now that you mention it, I am wearing a cape.  Another point in my favor. Fu fu fu.

Hey, since you often catch details and seem like an open-minded person, I want to share what I observed in the last few days. So, I definitely believe in Jikook but that was not always the case. My bias is Jimin and I always mostly focused on him, but once I observed Jungkook more carefully, the truth revealed itself step by step. Now something similar happened since I focused on Taehyung. And it seems crazy, to me as well, but please give it a chance! Watch "Nippon TV BUZZ RHYTHM 02 - BTS Cut" timestamp: 13:55, and watch (and listen to) all of their expressions closely, especially Jikook and Taehyung. Keep an eye on Namjoon, too. Then please look at the lyrics of Sweet Night and really reflect on them. Just as a reminder, there is Taehyung calling Jimin his "one and only best friend" in "Let's BTS" and similarly in Festa 2019, for example. I also am stuck on Jin calling Taehyung very generous and big-hearted in "Special Movie BTS MUSIC JOURNEY" (after the release of Sweet Night) and the others agreeing, their expressions speaking once again. Then finally those compilations where Taekook is apparently jealous of each other. Or Vmin. And now you just have to connect the dots but I did not see any other person who has done so. All those moments, all those compilations make so much more sense to me. All in all, it seems that Taehyung has or had feelings for Jimin. Sounds crazy! Of course we should not assume too much but the connections are there and in hindsight, they seem obvious. You just have to put the puzzle pieces together. I really hope that Taehyung is over it, because unrequited love hurts badly. Taehyung as a person makes so much more sense to me. His actions, his depression, his pain... Well, I guess Jimin did not call himself "Tailor of Chaos" without reason. That situation must have been difficult for him, too. Maybe (just maybe) that is an indicator regarding his state in 2020... And of course on Jungkook. But maybe that is the actual reason why Jungkook and Taehyung seem to be closer now, maybe mending their friendship! Especially, since Taehyung found a partner. And maybe Jikook feel some kind of guilt for causing Taehyung pain... who knows. There is much to think about and honestly, it sounds like pure fanfiction but if I learned something in life, it is that nothing is impossible. Hope you give it a chance, I really would like your opinion on all that. I certainly am feeling very surprised. Have a nice day :)

So! Umm yes. I've seen this theory being thrown around. I have friends who think this might be the case. And one of them is actually really good at analysing and picking up cues and she believes V may have had feelings for Jimin at some point and her arguments make sense.

But for me... idk. Idk anon. 🤔 I have a hard time picturing this. I will share a clip that will be hard for some of you to watch. So brace yourselves

Things to note about the first clip: (I know... I know. It's bad. I recently just discovered it and it doesn't look good, I agree)

a) Point to note number one is that, that is how most people in SK feel about homosexuality. As u can hear V is basically telling Jimin something is wrong with him mentally for liking men. And when u grow up with everyone around u telling u this, of course u will believe it. It also explains why he would keep the company he keeps. (Go Google Bogum and his cult scandal) People in SK don't believe men can be with other men. And those who have seen it happen, think its a mental illness. This was obviously embedded in V for him to have done this not once, but twice. And this is only what we saw on camera.

b) 2nd point to note; Taekook just cannot be real. It's just, impossible. Yes, V has changed, obviously. Hanging out with Jimin will do that to you. He obviously doesn't feel as strongly about homosexuality like he used to. And he loves Jimin and JK which means he has adjusted his mentality. But, this is a guy who used to say basically homophobic stuff to his friend. And as u can see, that clip is from around May 2015 So at what point would V have started dating JK as early as 2013 when this is how he felt about his friend a boy, liking boys?

c) 3rd point to note; Jimin doesn't deny it. I hate how he's just defending himself there repeating over and over; I don't like you that way, so what's your issue? I dont behave that way towards you, why you mad? Anyway, Jimin doesn't once say "no i don't like men." Or "stop lying" he just says "I don't feel that way about you."

d) Last point to note, Jikook is real. Why? Because what triggered V, was Jimin telling JK to sit next to him. And immediately V goes off about how something is wrong with Jimin in the head because these days he likes men. Likes JK.

Now anon, let's go back to point number 2. I know internalised homophobia is a thing. (Thank you Shameless! You taught me sm!) But it stems from someone hating that they like someone of the same sex and they don't want to be that way, but they are. So saying V used to have a crush on Jimin insinuates he would have had to get over his homophobia and start seeing Jimin in a new light. I mean, it's Jimin and the Jimin effect is a thing that exists. But, still. Idk. I just don't know. Watching that clip tells me that his parents are like this. Him being so close with the WS, tells me he wouldn't have kept them as friends if at any one point he started liking someone of the same sex. Knowing how they feel about it.

V is more accepting now, of course. But Jikook are in the closet and only close knit people know about it. And V definitely isn't divulging that to the WS. Again, knowing how they feel about this topic.

What am I saying anon? I think those V jealous Vmin moments that exist are because he "lost" his bestfiend when Jikook became a thing. He had to share Jimin with JK. And I imagine Jimin tried to be there for both of them but sometimes JK took priority and maybe V didn't like that. They used to be bestfriends. Super close. V even looked after Jimin in school. Asked some people he knew to look after the new kid because that was his friend. They were close. Really close. Then satellite Jeon comes and changes everything.

Now to the assignment you gave me. The question was who's the most romantic

I also looked at the lyrics of sweet night (he sounds so good) and I'm guessing you're talking about this part;

Anon, if you ship Vmin, or are suspicious of Vmin, it would be easy to conclude this song is about Jimin. Easy. But if you're like me who believes V is as straight as a ruler, then the first thing I think of when I hear that, is some girl he liked at the time that he was really close to. Someone he dated in the past, maybe. To me V is as straight as they come and I could try, but I cannot see where you're coming from.

But if you listen to sweet night and then watch V jealous compilations, you're gonna be influenced. Because you're going in already thinking the best friend he's talking about is Jimin! But, remember, you don't have to have romantic feelings for someone to be jealous. You can be jealous that your sister is spending too much time with someone else. You can be jealous your bestfriend doesn't make time for you anymore ever since they started dating. You know what I mean?

That's what I think you saw. In my opinion, of course. I could be wrong and way off base but...yeah.

In Conclusion: Vmin isn't real and there was never potential for it to be so.

just to note this, as much as i love botw, i am not uncritical of it, like while i personally like the weapon breaking and rain mechanics everyone else seemed to hate i do agree that the bosses and dungeons were kinda repetetive and there could have been more bigger sidequests, some more diverse epic music tracks also wouldnt have hurt tho i fully disagree with anyone trying to claim it didnt HAVE music, im convinced those people played it with sound off bc wth (edit. plus the unfortunately still orientalist design of the gerudo plus that belly dancer outfit for link ... that thankfully got removed in totk as far as i know but the rest still stands)

personal criticism id have that i would have prefered zelda never gaining her sacred powers but instead finding a different way to fight back, bc her gaining them like that kinda made rhoams abuse .. right, like turns out to activate her powers you need to literall kill everyone she cares about (at least thats why i feel a bit meh about that), her maybe not being as sidelined like that (tho youd have to change alot for that .. which totk had the perfect chance to and then kinda did it again but worse lol) and the yiga clan being less of one little side mission

(also way too many people kept hating on botw for the same few reasons, often without giving it a chance, i think we all heard all the endless complaints about usually little things so i dont need to retread all of that)

alot of those little criticism things got adressed in totk, which i LIKED, but overall its so much less in harmony, this should have been a game about rebuilding and recovering about working together and then zelda gets immediately booted off and we get introduced to characters we never learn enough of to really care and yet they still take away the mystery botw had left us for the world to feel more alive, they ripped out parts that were so internally organically connected to the world and pretended they never mattered nor existed, characters act off and i cant help but feel like the main 'plot' is, as much as i hate to use that comparison, a badly written fanfiction ... it builds on nothing and just leaves you .. or me at least feeling empty, like i am playing through a mockery of the game i loved ... like all the fun i had thinking about the things in botw, the theories you could come up with was all wasted time

i honestly cant describe it better than totk, despite the little QoL changes, and the changes i DID like, it just feels ... empty? not in a literal way but more ... mentally? it feels so shallow? like at multiple points i felt like the game was actively mocking me, when i reached the shrine of life and was faced with barren walls and a puddle of water i felt betrayed for caring so much about what botw had done .. i felt like i could hear the game laughing while i stood there not knowing what to think of it, and while this was the time when i felt the most actually physically compeltely betrayed, that feeling of being mocked kept happening, i kept feeling like i was treated like a dumb player character that just eats up anything they say without thinking or remembering the title this was supposedly a sequel of, like i should play with the little toys of glueing things together and forget the world around me like a 5 year old

that may sound harsh but that is how i, personally, feel about it

I'm going to really quickly drop something I have been thinking for a very long time - and I don't think I have made a post about it?

It is one of the reasons I kind of cut ties with fandoms on the Internet as a whole, and why I originally strongly disliked the way "headcanons" were used, and why I often roll my eyes with the way people behave on the Internet... And I don't know if it is because I was old enough to have lived in a time when I enjoyed series and movies and cartoons without the Internet - or better, with an Internet that was without the "fandoms" as we know them today.

The main thing that irritates me with the way "fans" act on the Internet is how they think because they are fans of a piece of media, it "belongs to them". I fully understand the idea of fanfiction-positive and I am ALL for fan-art and AUs and the like, don't get me wrong. I do enjoy what fandoms were for - sharing a common passion, bring fan-made content based on a loved piece of media, have fun with it all... But the way this positivity has been framed and formulated, and the way it got interpreted has been irking me a lot.

Because in effect, a lot and lot of people have gotten into their brain, somehow, that a fandom "owns" a piece of media. That a television series was made first and foremost for the fans, and not for anyone else, and thus that it must cater to their every whims and desire. More and more people take fan theories and headcanons as actual guidelines, or solid fact, or in general confuse "canon" and "headcanon". More and more people believe the idea that "If we are strong enough, we can change this piece of media" or that "The creator of this piece of media owes us things because we are fans".

I am not very old, and yet I still lived in a time when we understood that published books and the shows on TV and the movies in theater were not... "ours". Yes a fandom is a way to allow fans to toy and play with a piece of fiction, and thus in a way make it "theirs". BUT THAT'S METAPHORIC NOT LITERAL! It certainly does not help that recently more and more tv shows and cartoons and whatnot have been explicitely interacting with or refering to their fandoms, even sometimes letting the fans drive the course of the story. Which is great, and is fun - but should be remembered as something not "natural" and a bit exceptional.

It reminds me of how recently there have been more and more incidents in theaters where musical plays were interrupted by audience members who thought they just could do anything they wanted - because somehow they thought a musical was an interactive play or a karaoke night. Again, these kind of interactions do exist (The Rocky Horror Picture Show was built upon these experiences) - but they were unique and out-there.

Art, fiction and media can and will live on without fandoms. Fandoms are not a needed ingredient of a piece of fiction, they are something that at best develops a healthy co-dependency with the piece of fiction it selects, at worst acts like a parasite to its host. But the fandom can be destroyed and obliterated and die - the fiction will still live on, and the media will still exist. And yet, so many fandoms seem to believe that somehow, they are the movers and shakers of industry and fiction, and that somehow they are the ones in control? So many fans treat creators like commissioned artists or pals they can ask favors from or victims they can bully freely without consequence.

Again, I don't know how to properly express my thoughts but... I lived in a world without fandoms, and now I can't stand it when people make it seem as if art and fiction and media was all about fandoms. And I mean fandom in the modern, Internet-sense of the term. Fandoms have went from enthusiastic pupils and eager to learn students and symposiums of fair critics to just... whining, entitled, over-spoiled little brats that kick their feet in anger, give orders to everybody and try to run away with the painting that is hanging on a museum's wall.

Yes fanfiction can "correct" a badly written plot, in one's opinion. It doesn't mean the author has to stick to your corrections, or that other people can't actually enjoy the badly written plot.

Yes fanart can be much cooler than the actual design. It does not mean you suddenly know the movie better than the movie-maker themselves, or that your fan-art will have to influence the aesthetic of a cartoon's next season.

Yes headcanons are wonderful. It does not make them canon, and you cannot enforce them on anything.

I repeat myself like a broken record - but originally fandoms where a place of enjoyment and appreciation and theorizing and complaining, but solely as an audience, and as people gathered by similar interests. Now? Now they became places of control and influence and demands that don't understand that an audience member isn't supposed to jump on stage to point out "No you are saying it wrong, here is how you should say the line."

Oli is not a big reader. Most of the books she reads are for a distinct purpose. Testing out a new propagation theory, learning a new recipe, something to do with her anthropogeological work or information about a region she's about to travel to. When she doesn't read to learn something, she tends toward mysteries or humorous fiction, or poetry. Maybe very occasionally a memoir if Ren has recommended it. Reading for pleasure isn't something which occurs to her very often, Oli's hobbies are much more active, (gardening, hiking, bird watching, going on long hallucinogenic trips in the woods, etc.) Although she does occasionally indulge reading for reading's sake. This is especially true in summer time when she can read outside under the shade of a tree, or a beach umbrella if they're on assignment on Costa del Cobra, Uncle Zan's island in the Cieldalaes. (Fun fact! That name comes from the plentiful schools of King Cobrafish that inhabit the Cieldalaes Margin. Not snakes c': )

Comprehensible Input VII: Conclusion

This is the end of this series on comprehensible input theory, and perhaps it has already become too long, but I wanted to close on a more personal note, explaining again why it is important to me, why I think these ideas can be so beneficial to learners (and teachers).

It is very sad to see a person give up and abandon their goal of learning a language. There are many reasons why that can happen, but a usual culprit is not having an alternative to the traditional grammar-based, drill-based, textbook-based model, which can be either difficult, boring, or both. Enjoyment should be the compass in language learning, and not all people (there are those who do) have a good time with these materials and strategies.

I learned (like many in my generation) English without realizing it — one of the benefits of living in the atmosphere of the United States — there was never a moment of formal study, of purpose, of deliberation. I was simply enjoying things I liked: music, movies, websites, struggling to understand the language not in order to “know English” but to be able to approach the information or works that interested me. My knowledge of the language was gradual, progressive, and almost effortless. It felt like it happened by itself, a photosynthesis. Everything we saw in this series, the whole theory of comprehensible input, explained to me my own experience.

Often language learning is thought of as something you have to do before you can tap into the culture or communicate with native speakers. An important element of Krashen’s ideas is that you don’t have to wait, you don’t have to graduate. You may have to start with children’s books, with simple materials, but you are in fact already interacting with the real language, and not with a simulacrum or an artificial version (as happens in the exercises of a traditional course). In other words, if you want to learn English in order to understand Kurt Cobain, all you have to do is read Nirvana lyrics (that’s what I did when I was twelve years old).

That learning while doing, daring to interact with compelling cultural objects, the reminder that interest and enjoyment should be the foundations of your process, is what I find so valuable about Krashen’s ideas. This series has been a theoretical journey, but it has a simpler message: surround yourself with a language, its objects and manifestations, and you will end up learning it, no doubt about it.

Trapped Towers Dev History ~ How We Got Here (Part 1)

Today I'm going to be introducing another type of post I can end up doing - development history/update posts! These will likely be rarer than other types of posts (after this 3 parter anyway), purely because development on this project is just pretty slow due to my lack of ✨ focus ✨ and all that. However, there is definitely some old development stuff I can talk about! Plus, for those of you who are new - you get to learn more about this project that has been ongoing since early 2018!

So lets get into this, shall we? It's going to be a lengthy read.

February 2018 - August 2020 ~ The Beginning/Undertale AU Era:

February 2018 was a time, by this point I'd spent almost a year making music for my friends and very small audience in the Undertale community. One day, I was simply bored and had no ideas - so my sister told me "hey make an Alton Towers megalo"... how I hadn't done it yet shocked me, I'd been going since 2014 and loved the place dearly. However, with a laugh I agreed and got to work.

A few days into creation, I began theory crafting the basics for an Undertale AU. The first ever concept for what would eventually become Trapped Towers - explains a lot about the name and premise though huh. I eventually uploaded a song or two for the AU, including the megalo I did finish - "Ministry Of Death".

One person found and covered the megalo. Then another. And another. And soon enough the whole thing spiralled - I would consider it to this day my biggest impact on the Undertale Community, even if it was still relatively small and not long lived. Either way, it got me to take the project a little more seriously... but quickly it spiralled into development hell. I was only 14 after all, if you asked me what a leadership style was I probably would have no idea what you were on about or given a dumb answer.

Reboot after reboot was attempted. New server after new server. Eventually though, one server was made and kept. However, the project had already fallen into more obscurity and my motivation was low, so I moved to new things. Every so often a new Trapped Towers post would occur, mainly new Smiler content as that's what really brought in people. Things would stay like that for a bit unfortunately though...

How about some art and concepts from the time though huh? For an Undertale AU it was... something. Tom wasn't called Tom and was literally just called Frisk. The world layout was just Undertale and I just made stuff fit - The Beornen were almost located in X-Sector because of Wickerman being the Grillby replacement. Th13teen wouldn't have really even been in the story as she was Gaster. Half the characters didn't even have designs! People loved Smiler and Enterprise, and any serious work focused on the Ruins portion with Terra. They were still trapped because Nemesis was too dangerous to be let free, however Nemesis was also in a permenant sleep - only prophisised to reawaken. It wasn't an active threat.

It's all quite funny to look back on. There's so many bits that clearly influenced the project as it is today. Many old designs haven't had drastic overhauls either, which is quite funny to think about... maybe I should get on some...

Anyway, with that brings the conclusion of part 1 of this 3 part blog series. The next two parts will come out day after day, with tomorrow being "August 2020 - June 2021" and Friday being "June 2021 - Present Day". Figured it'd be much easier for reading if I split them into a couple parts !! Also gives me a few extra days to consider what else I want to post haha.

Young liberals, Jews, PoC and the LGBTQ community especially all need to learn to be as passionate (but logical and practical with it not in a fanaticist way) about things like prepping, business investing, properly farm animal raising and game slaughtering and meat safekeeping, fishing, local politics, keeping currency in hard format, hunting, trapping, survivalism, community and self defense as all the old white conservative people are. Being able to survive is a goal we need even more than they do during a crisis be it political or natural. We don't have to fill our brains with junk about the Rapture or the latest racism and conspiracy theories in order to realize it is important to be self sufficient. When they see us not as just pure subhumans they see us as a naturally weak group who should be punished for that, and that is not the reality but culturally it often feels so because in areas where these pockets of homesteading culture and rural self sufficiency are common, it can be more I know dangerous to be yourself.

But even in an ideal world with no hostility in ideological or political divides whatsoever- lets just say everyone already in your area magically gets along, and won't have any qualm what your background is... are you gonna wanna be stuck without knowledge what to do, if there is a wildfire consuming the area, or a tornado, or a war?

My anxiety stems from the fact so little prepper companies are not just straight Trump supportive money dumpers into conservative interests.

And don't me wrong I think its awesome we packed our stats full on the compassion, sex health education, mental health community, cultural exploration, arts and music and theater and literary side of things.

But having the ability to sew clothes or build a shelter or preserve food or shoot a rabid skunk so it doesn't bite your dog kinda is a big deal tool also.

And in reality these never should be "separate demographics/types of worlds" anyway. Whether you are urban, suburban or rural in lifestyle, I think these are vital skills and knowledge we should all be imparted with, at very young age regardless.

We can and should have both our love of the abstract creative and digital culture planes, AND a love for the hardnosed "blue collar" material plane as well.

Specialists' Hobbies

After many months, finally finished this.

Didnt write about Nex, Roy and Thoren bc I got lazy, but maybe I'll write for them eventually

And yes, ik i wrote like 7 hobbies for brandon and struggled to write 3 for the rest, it be like that im sorry im a clown 😭🤡

Sky:

He was kinda busy as a child, being trained to be a future king didn't really allow him to develop hobbies naturally. However, because his parents wanted him to be an all-rounder perfect child, they exposed him to many different activities, whether he liked them or not. He has probably tried everything from music to coding to every sport and had the best teachers to help him out.

He's a jack at all trades, but I think what he genuinely enjoys most is doing sports. He particularly loves riding on his skateboard (the one they have w/o wheels) and doing tricks. As a kid, he would often get roughed up doing that and get scolded by his parents because they thought it wasn't a very prestigious sport. That's weirdly his way of rebelling till now.

He is also surprisingly good at playing the piano and other classical instruments. He isn't as well versed in things like electric guitar, but he is interested to learn, epsecially with friends. He would love to start a small band and play with the rest of the specialists.

Not sure if this counts as a hobby, but he really values the time he has with his friends. He enjoys going out with them and just chilling or getting a drink. He's usually the one to initiate outings, followed by Brandon

He doesn't have many specific hobbies, but he's happy to do most things as long as he's hanging out with his friends.

Brandon:

Brandon has many similar hobbies as Sky, and probably introduced him to many of them. Many of the hobbies Sky likes are because of Brandon (because having a friend to do said hobbies with you is vastly more fun than than a teacher who grades you on your performance)

Brandon has many hobbies. His primary hobby is exercising in general. He enjoys sports, particularly rock climbing, hiking, swimming and surfing. He also likes to go for jogs/runs with the other guys or sometimes with Stella. He is good at most sports, but its mainly due to his general athleticism rather than constant practice or strategy.

He is more gym-oriented than the rest of the guys. He goes nearly daily and lifts dumbells in his bedroom. He mostly goes to the gym bc he wants to maintain his appearance and often looks at himself in the mirror of the gym or in his room. He also eats more healthy, takes care of his hair and skin for the same reason.

However, he is still genuinely interested in health and nutrition related things, beyond appearance reasons. Things like making progress or hittting a new record in weightlifting makes him feel fulfilled.

He doesn't often advise people on how they should exercise or eat (bc its their own body), but if they want to look for somebody for advice, Brandon is probably the right person. He is always happy to help, and seeing his friends hit their goals brings him joy.

Another thing he enjoys is fashion. It initially comes as a by-product of him caring about his appearance, but he finds himself interested in it's creation and design. Stella helps cultivate that interest. Brandon is literally the most stylish and trendy guy in their gang, so if the guys want fashion and styling advice they will go to him.

Another unexpected thing he likes is engineering, particularly the mechanic part. He enjoys tinkering with the engine of his windrider and fixing stuff. He's not as proficient in the math and theory stuff as Timmy though.

He's also one of the only guys here who can cook decently, taught by his parents since young (and also bc of his nutrition interest). He also likes trying out his friends' food reccomendations and going cafe hopping.

Riven:

Riven doesn't have a ton of money (single family home), so he realised a lot of his hobbies when he was younger from playing with other kids, like borrowing their consoles/going for sleepovers/playing with them ourdoors. The internet along with people he finds cool are also huge inspirations.

An obvious hobby for him is music. He's more musically inclined than the other guys, but he particularly loves rock (unironically instilled in him during his emo phase lol). The instrument he is most proficient in is the electric guitar, but he can also play the drums pretty well.

He is willing to try out other instruments and sometimes joins music related clubs so that he can try out instruments he wants to learn.

He is also likes composing songs and brainstorming ideas for it. He usually has a rhythm or beat stuck in his mind for a while, so that part doesn't take him that long to do. But he is bad at coming up with meaningful lyrics, so those tend to screw him up. He sometimes begrudgingly goes to Helia or Nabu for help with that.

He sings occassionally but tends to hum rather than full-on sing, especially if people are around. However, he is confident enough to perform on the stage if push comes to shove or if he practiced a ton. His voice is not as polished as Musa's because he never had many avenues to sing/doesn't practice it a ton, but it has good potential. Definitely one of the best at singing in the specialists and kills it at karaoke.

Another prominent hobby of his is sports. He likes most sports, ranging from soccer to snowboarding to boxing. However, what he enjoys most about sports is competition and the fact he can pitt his skills against others. Thus, he is the most aggressively competitive of the bunch. Combined with his physique and athletism, he's honestly kinda a monster to play against. He's also the one that gets physically hurt the most from said sports, so he has semi-frequent trips to the nurse's office.

In the same vein of competitiveness, he also enjoys playing games. Naturally, he leans towards PvP fighter games and Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games.

He also secretly enjoys rhythm based games (both arcade and online), though he would never let people know bc he thinks its embarassing. That is until one of the specialists challenges him to a DDR battle, and then he wipes the floor. He also likes Guitar Hero, obviously.

He also gets VERY worked up playing party games, which the specialists find hilarious (but sometimes insufferable). He's such a sore loser at literally everything.

Timmy:

Obviously, the tech guy likes tech. Ingrained in him as a child, Timmy enjoys solving technical problems and tinkering with machines. Brandon sometimes watches him do his thing so he can learn. Timmy's family tree has a long lineage of prestigious scientists and inventors, so he naturally has similar interests. He also enjoys coding and is fascinated by math and science in general.

Another thing he enjoys is games. Unlike Riven, he prefers games that allow him to flex his strategic skill. This of course includes stuff like chess, but nobody wants to play those with him except Tecna or Digit, mainly bc they know they'll lose to Timmy.

Luckily, Timmy is also kinda a board game nerd and owns a large collection of other tabletop games, which the rest are willing to entertain. Even if it's less traditional strategy related, he does enjoy playing them and analysing the rest of the group's play-styles

Unexpectedly, he has also taken an liking to story-based games like RPGs or Third-person games. He would be lying if he said he didn't cry more than once over fictional characters. He also enjoys playing MMORPGs, and is actually really good at it. The only one who is better at him in the gang is Tecna obviously, she totally goes on virtual dates with him in-game.

Helia

Weird art kid. Spent 99% of his early childhood days sitting in a corner and quietly drawing anime characters and ocs. He later diversified and dabbled more into realistic portrait and scenery drawings, because he wanted to get into art school.

He does mostly traditional pencil drawings, because he enjoys the tactile experience and organic feel of traditional drawings. However, he has a tablet to draw digitally in his room as well (from art school), he just doesn't use it as often. His family can fund his expensive art supplies anyway.

Surprisingly, he is a bigger reader than Timmy is. His childhood involved reading a lot of thick, fictional books he still enjoys to this day (he re-reads them semi-frequently out of nostalgia). This love of reading subsequently helped him get more into literature and poetry.

He'd rather not get his hands dirty doing sports, so he'd rather not dabble in those lest he get hurt. He wants to keep fit, but he isn't interested in going to the gym either (he doesn't like the noises and people there), so he often works out at home instead. He doesn't particularly enjoy exercising, he does so more out of practicality.

He likes walking around in nature parks and museums, but is also content with sitting with his friends in a cafe and chatting. He sometimes goes hiking or trekking with Brandon purely because he wants drawing inspiration (He'd rather go with Flora, but Brandon is ok I guess.) He prefers quieter places where he can get his own privacy, so he dislikes noisy bars or arcades.

Nabu:

He shares a lot of the same hobbies as Helia. Like A LOT.

He loves reading. He re-reads less, but prefers to read new books. He loves the excitement of opening a new book, and he's totally the type to binge read a novel and then fall asleep in his library on the floor.

He also indulges a lot in music (and has the money to go to concerts frequently), poetry, plays and movies. The genre of arts/music he likes tends to be slightly different from Helia, as he grew up with of art that had a distinct Andros flavour(does that make sense?). His taste is closer to Aisha's (but Aisha has more interest in pop/dance songs than him because of Musa's influence)

I imagine he's also actually quite a big nerd? Unlike Helia who is more reserved, he LOVES rattling off about a recent great book he read, or an artsy film he saw, or a meaningful lyric he heard from his favourite band's song. The other guys/winx enjoy seeing him being happy and talking about his interests, but suggest him to write a blog instead (because he has a tendency to repeat things in his excitement). He does, and he finds a niche audience who enjoys his writing. He also realises he likes writing through this lol.

Idk where to put this, but I feel like Nabu would unexpectedly like cafe hopping (like Brandon)? Or just trying new food in general. These two give each other recommendations all the time. Though, you'll probably have better luck with Brandon if you have a tighter budget bc Nabu has a tendency to accidentally recommend expensive restaurants. He's apologetic if you tell him though.

Similar to Sky, he dabbles in many hobbies because he enjoys trying things. Though, unlike Sky, Nabu realises he doesn't have an affinity for physical sports. His likes and dislikes are also quite clearly established from childhood, but he just likes trying out stuff for the sake of trying something new.

what are the transing gender magics for infernii? does a shattering affect it?

so it took a hot minute to answer this, because i don’t actually have like. strict rituals written down for this! but it’s a very good question, and to answer it i kinda get to explain some of the Valloroth magic system a bit, which is fun! (i should make a proper Post for that someday…)

anyway. in Valloroth-the-series, magic is a semi-sentient force that infuses everything. it’s a building block of reality, and there are three ways to access and use it (for mortals, anyway): wizardry, witchcraft, and bardic magic.

now under a cut, because this got long TT_TT

the short explanation for each is that Witchcraft amounts to telling magic you intend to do something and then doing it. Wizardry is a polite request backed up with components and theory. Bardic magic is asking magic very nicely and charming it into doing as you wish. Bards and witches have to be born with the capacity, but anyone can learn to be a wizard (most people just don’t because it’s a Lot of Work). Witches use clarity of intent and imposition of willpower for their spells. Wizards have to use components and precise wording. Bards require persuasive music, and a similar imposition of willpower to witches.

what this all means, is that infernii gender magic is different not only between Naazgaran and Zashi, but also between witches and wizards. Witches are more common among the Zashi, wizards among the Naazgaran, though their styles of casting are definitely influenced by their culture as well as their type of magic.

Zashi rituals focus on the desires of the person involved being brought to fruition by the caster. They’re a celebration, usually, often involving many of the clan even if they’re not helping with the spell. Not always, some people prefer privacy, but since it’s celebrated, it’s pretty common for it to be a kind of birthday/coming of age sort of deal. often someone’s choosing their name at the same time, so the two cermonies get tied together in that case (which is what Aspiration did)

For Naazgarans, it’s a more structured thing. You’d most commonly find a wizard to perform the correct spell, pay them, and generally undergo it in a private setting. Wizardry transition is less accessible—the kind done by a good and competent wizard, anyway. It’s not stigmatised that much, beyond any individual prejudices someone has, but it isn’t celebrated the way Zashi do. It’s like ‘ok, cool, you got your ritual done’, in a similar vibe to like…changing your haircut, or something. which is nice in a way, it’s just Normal and Boring.

a witch casting the spell would vary from witch to witch, and draw on the individual’s wants, pull the magic into/around them, and alter their physicality with it. it would likely take a lot of energy, because you’re changing a whole entire person. wizards would call that astonishingly inefficient, and use the components, structure, and wording of a Standardised Gender Alteration Spell from the transformation sphere of magic, modifying specific components and wording as needed for the particulars of the change. and for shattering! god, i actually enjoyed chewing this over, because i never thought about it and now i am thinking about it. it wouldn’t necessarily affect your ability to be magically transitioned, but i do think it would make the process much more painful, especially if it’s done in Infernus, because infernii casters draw on the magical forces of that plane, and when you’re shattered, all your connection to it is just gone. so it would hurt, definitely, i think.

ohhh, now im thinking of the implications of shattered infernii witches, because wizards could still cast, they’re using components, but witches effectively channel magic through themselves instead of external pieces…you’ve given me much to think about, i like this!!

As long as it's not the fucking founding of America and drafting of the constitution, again, we're golden

2. Who is your favourite fictional character and why?

Of all time? Impossible. Current fandom specifically? ...uh. Kind of also impossible. But I think if pressed Hob might just barely edge out Dream in the standings. Because? Because...his vibes? Immortal Everyman who's not all woe-is-me this-life-is-misery is a delight and idk he's just got that je ne sais quoi that makes me smile and say 'That one, that's my favorite'?

3. What do you order at a café?

It's a rare occurrence but. Some sort of coffee, extra sweet, extra whichever flavor added. Caramel and pumpkin spice are both excellent

4. Libraries, botanical gardens, or art galleries?

Beauty and the Beast 1991 probably. The score tracks on that just. Do things to me. Fond of a lot of Hans Zimmer's work as well (Lion King, PotC off the top of my head) and I keep circling back around to the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves soundtrack every few years

6. What does your dream home look like?

Underwater. With bits above water too, maybe half and half, but the important things I've always wanted are submarine airlock entryways and enormous windows with an underwater view. Not too far from civilization either

I've read fanfic almost exclusively the past twenty years but, let me think...I was very taken with the Shannara series by Terry Brooks in high school; I spent some time on the Vampire Chronicles after that and The Vampire Armand was my favorite (because Armand was my favorite more than because it was actually a good book)

9. Are you an organized person, generally?

...Ish. I dislike clutter and mess, but I wouldn't really classify myself as 'organized' by any standard measure of the word

...I am extremely fond of Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz both but more for their permutation into pop culture and malleability therein than for their actual books specifically

11. What character archetype or trope is your favourite?

I have a laundry list, and they're generally best when multiple tropes are blended in one character. But maybe...let's go with The Foreigner, The Outsider, the one who often holds up a lens to humanity or whatever majority/default group is involved to offer commentary, try to understand, and who is perpetually Apart from them, usually unable (or unwilling) to quite blend in or assimilate completely even when they may be welcomed and accepted.

12. Do you prefer baking or cooking?

...give me a relatively simple recipe with clear instructions and I'll probably be okay, in either arena

13. Which season do you feel at home in?

In my current climate? Summer. Summer means I can get out and go places and do things. I love autumn in theory but in practice it's far too short, far too cold too quickly, and just a very depressing reminder of the half-a-year of winter that will follow

14. What is your opinion on poetry?

It should absolutely exist, integral facet of humanity, etc. Not really anything I actively seek out, however

15. Do you speak formally when texting and emailing?

Emails are nearly always business related whether home or work, so yes. Texts are not exactly formal but it's rare that I'd ever fail to capitalize, use copious abbreviations, etc. Punctuation droppage depends entirely on who I'm talking to and whether I need the clarity punctuation can provide

16. How do you organize your music playlists?

Haaaaaah. Let me count the ways:

- by artist, when I want The Good Tracks from their discography (and related projects) in chronological order

- by genre

- by pairing - many pairs have multiple permutations of their playlist also

- by character

- by character group

- by theme (e.g. Moon, Aquatic, etc)

- by mood

- by fic inspiration/writing soundtrack

- I have playlists for Disney movies where I put the songs and score pieces back in movie order since the soundtracks always group them separately and I also leave out the shitty radio versions of the songs

- I also have a playlist with all my individual Disney playlists combined in chronological order by movie release date

- by vibes

- by which family member I'm driving with

- I have a playlist for stuff that's in (or contains sections that are in) 3/4, 6/8, and various other non-4/4 time signatures

- I have a couple different playlists of favorite voices

- there's a giant playlist where I dump all the stuff I've rated 4 or 5 stars (some 3s may also get included), sorted by play count, for when I don't know quite what I'm really in the mood to listen to

- aaaaaaand then I usually have two or three playlists in constant flux for whatever I'm really craving to listen to at this particular point in time

Remi Rambles 1: Responsibility and Diligence - The Difficulty of it All

does anyone else know that one meme where there's a teacher in a music theory class captioned "come on it's not rocket science" and then on the bottom image it's a teacher in a rocket science class going "come on it's not music theory" like i get it's supposed to be a joke but it just makes me think about how subjective we determine the difficulty of something.

like yeah thats a given, but if you really think about it, it's really cool, and weird. because two ppl from completely different backgrounds can also find this one thing easy but someone else finds it difficult and it just blows my mind. and i find it interesting to observe this in the way people practice morals.

i feel like the only reason i find it interesting is because so many people that i know are responsible and actually do their requirements for school, studying for exams and quizzes, yk everything, but i find it so difficult to do that for whatever reason. call it the burned out gifted kid effect but i do know how to study i just dont. do it often. bc i assume everything will be alright and did not actually experience the consequences of my laziness, and i still dont.

yeah im doing average in school and i could get better grades and i want to do that, but at the same time, why should i? where do these people find the motivation to do good in school? they say it's out of necessity or urgency because if they dont then they'll get punished but i feel like?? that's the way to more burnout??? and i dont really ever get punished for low grades so i cant use that as motivation.

someone once said, that responsibility is the standard to which we do what is expected of us, and going the extra mile just means you know very well what is asked of you so you do it well. like say, and i apologize for the odd analogy, if someone asks a banana from you: giving them the banana is you being responsible, but peeling the banana for them means you know that they're hungry so you're being extra responsible. they explained it better than i did but you get the general gist, right?

so, i guess the question i need to ask is: "what is expected of me as a student?" because i get good-average grades, but most people would call me lazy and would not entrust any major assessments from me (but i guess that's just because i submit things late). but in the rare occasions that i do submit on time, most people would still call me "smart but lazy" and. i dont know. it's just odd because most people would definitely not call me a particularly responsible student even if i submitted early.

and ive thought of it, and even if i got better grades, they would not call me a particularly responsible student. so, once again, that leads us to the question: "what is the responsibility of (or standards for) a student?"

it's not to get good grades, because i do that, i still learn but people would just call me attentive instead of responsible. and maybe it's to show due diligence in my studies?

because when you think about it, most people would call someone who follows their schedule and exceeds expectations as "responsible" because they go the extra mile in their responsibility as a student. but maybe diligence is the key so that i can get people off my back..?

diligence is a thing that i find... scary to apply in my studies. because then it'll be really hard to find that work-life balance since i tend to get carried away in my pursuits, and once again, burnout.

i guess what i can try to do is think that my schedule is for the whole year to make sure that im not too engrossed in it and allow some more room for fun.

What do I post about?

As my tumblr title suggests, I am starting this as way to hopefully hold myself accountable. There are a bunch of hobbies, skills, and activities I want to improve at, topics I want to learn about, and things I've always wanted to try but have never gotten around to. Lately I've been having this existential panic that I'm running out of time to give them a go, so I feel like I need to be more methodical in pursuing them. I am getting on ADHD meds soon which I think will be helpful in this pursuit, but I feel like giving myself an outlet to write about these things may prove helpful in keeping myself accountable to them. Maybe I can aim to do one entry a week, each centered around one of these areas and how I have been implementing it in my life/working on it/learning about it, etc etc. I should probably develop a stricter system so I don't fall out of the habit like I am typically prone to doing... whatever, for now I will just list them out and I can aim to do one a week to focus on. Maybe I will sticky this post, if you can do that on tumblr, so that I see these activities often. I've kind of arbitrarily told myself that learning about something/at least getting the gist of something would entail of doing three of theses four things over the course of a week: -Reading a book about it -Watching a documentary, or 1+hrs of video/discussion of it -Trying it out if applicable -Reaching out to someone I know who knows more about it

We'll see how closely I follow that guideline. I guess I will start this week? Maybe my first one can be.... Piano. I will start playing the interstellar song and also look into developing a practice routine. By the end of the week my goal can be to have developed a workable day-to-day practice routine that takes 30-45 min, and maybe I can play a page of the Interstellar song...
