just to note this, as much as i love botw, i am not uncritical of it, like while i personally like the weapon breaking and rain mechanics everyone else seemed to hate i do agree that the bosses and dungeons were kinda repetetive and there could have been more bigger sidequests, some more diverse epic music tracks also wouldnt have hurt tho i fully disagree with anyone trying to claim it didnt HAVE music, im convinced those people played it with sound off bc wth (edit. plus the unfortunately still orientalist design of the gerudo plus that belly dancer outfit for link ... that thankfully got removed in totk as far as i know but the rest still stands)
personal criticism id have that i would have prefered zelda never gaining her sacred powers but instead finding a different way to fight back, bc her gaining them like that kinda made rhoams abuse .. right, like turns out to activate her powers you need to literall kill everyone she cares about (at least thats why i feel a bit meh about that), her maybe not being as sidelined like that (tho youd have to change alot for that .. which totk had the perfect chance to and then kinda did it again but worse lol) and the yiga clan being less of one little side mission
(also way too many people kept hating on botw for the same few reasons, often without giving it a chance, i think we all heard all the endless complaints about usually little things so i dont need to retread all of that)
alot of those little criticism things got adressed in totk, which i LIKED, but overall its so much less in harmony, this should have been a game about rebuilding and recovering about working together and then zelda gets immediately booted off and we get introduced to characters we never learn enough of to really care and yet they still take away the mystery botw had left us for the world to feel more alive, they ripped out parts that were so internally organically connected to the world and pretended they never mattered nor existed, characters act off and i cant help but feel like the main 'plot' is, as much as i hate to use that comparison, a badly written fanfiction ... it builds on nothing and just leaves you .. or me at least feeling empty, like i am playing through a mockery of the game i loved ... like all the fun i had thinking about the things in botw, the theories you could come up with was all wasted time
i honestly cant describe it better than totk, despite the little QoL changes, and the changes i DID like, it just feels ... empty? not in a literal way but more ... mentally? it feels so shallow? like at multiple points i felt like the game was actively mocking me, when i reached the shrine of life and was faced with barren walls and a puddle of water i felt betrayed for caring so much about what botw had done .. i felt like i could hear the game laughing while i stood there not knowing what to think of it, and while this was the time when i felt the most actually physically compeltely betrayed, that feeling of being mocked kept happening, i kept feeling like i was treated like a dumb player character that just eats up anything they say without thinking or remembering the title this was supposedly a sequel of, like i should play with the little toys of glueing things together and forget the world around me like a 5 year old
that may sound harsh but that is how i, personally, feel about it

GENSHIN IMPACT —
memory ( zhongli x reader ) ;
this project was written then rewritten so many times it may as well be a meme. the premise of this one is the reader being a god birthed from a human, who is sustained by the faith and belief. however, due to some mishaps in their early days. they've been cursed to be forgotten. i was heavily inspired by noragami in how yato struggled to be remembered by people around him to stop himself from fading out of existance. // angst, hurt - no comfort, chaptered fic.
in the sky, on the earth ( zhongli x reader ) ;
a oneshot ( a long long oneshot ) about zhongli meeting a khaenri'ahn doctor and falling in love. once more, we fall into angst territory because i like making people cry apparently. this is kind of based off of one of my oc's, one silentmoth and i keep yammering about ( we have pour own little found family scenario involved as well - it's fun kijhbgvbhnj ). // angst, hurt - comfort, eventual happy ending, oneshot.
the earth, encased ( zhongli x reader ) ;
this one is zhongli grappling on your mortality ( yay ) after a near death experience grants you a vision. and it's geo. and he's having a crisis. // angst, hurt - comfort, near character death, lots og hugs, oneshot.
sehnsucht, or the taste of longing ( diluc x reader ) ;
and old old concept i want to revisit. set during the three year period in which diluc was investigating the fatui, he poses as a fatui recruit and marries the reader, a snezhnyayan citizen and a double agent who works alongside him. its mostly marriage of convenience, blossoming feelings and diluc and the reader being sneaky sneaks while they fall in love. // angst, fluff, slightly domestic, arranged marriage. oneshot.
arare litus ( neuvillette x reader ) ;
a mermaid is washed ashore and nevullette finds kinship in them. but there are murders going on, the reader learns how to human ( very little mermaid esque ) and pretty soon the killer is kind of revealed to be an unexpected face. this fic took a darker turn when it was supposed to be fluffy. i had crys screaming in my dm's it was a doozy and i loved it XD. // fluff, smut, oneshot.
HONKAI : STAR RAIL —
and this all consuming hunger ( jing yuan x reader ) ;
a guideverse fic featuring a sentinel jing yuan and a guide reader. it touches on touchstarvation, mortality and loneliness and i lowkey a catharsis in a sense. it's very self indulgent, everyone is tired and needs a hug. // hurt - comfort, fluff, oneshot.
from a warm climate ( jing yuan x reader ) ;
a bit of an au fic with a small dash of ancient magus bride. jing yuan is a retired warrior and a pathstrider who works in a society where magic is urbanized yet practiced on the downlow. he finds the reader, a kinnara who was abducted by hunters and managed to escape badly wounded. they can't quite bounce just yet due to having their veena, a sentimental object and a source for their use of magic, taken away as well and seeks to find it out. jing yuan just accepts it lol. it's mostly domestic, with found family elements to it. // angst, fluff. hurt - comfort, found family, chaptered fic.
like real people do ( jing yuan x reader ) ;
kjhgfdcfvghj this is also a wip in my folders for a while now. but in short. the reader was once a follower of the abundance and now seeks to live a normal life post lan lux - arrowing their planet apart. contrasted with memory ! reader who wants ti keep living, this one wants to live a good life and die a peaceful death. the ending is flat out tragic. do not touch if you hate angst. // angst, hurt-comfort, no happy endings lol, still debating on chaptered or oneshot.
it will come back ( blade x reader ) ;
the premise is blade finding the reader who runs a clinic on a planet overrun by shady businesses and crime. their meet cute is basically them driving a scalpel into his medulla and killing him. blade in turn just...keeps coming back lol. i really need to stop wolfing on hozier songs for my titles but then again most of his tunes serve inspiration kjhbgvbnj. it might contain mature content. i'm still mulling over it. // slight yandere??? idk, violence, blade is a walking red flag and a sad sad man.

https://www.tumblr.com/olderthannetfic/727841287119814656/ehh-generally-they-were-like-ask-specifics-about Can you expand on writer’s block not being real?
--
Sure!
I think everyone who's ever made art has hit points where it's hard to go on making art or where a particular project isn't moving. So from that perspective, sure, a version of it is real...
But there's a particular version of it that's what a lot of people mean where you're A Writer™ and then the magic inspiration gnomes come and steal your inspiration juice. This is mostly nonsense, and quite a few author types who've actually finished long projects will tell you so.
When you sit down to a blank page and it stubbornly stays blank like your head, that's a symptom of something... and the something in question is often either depression and overwhelmed feelings that are taking over your whole life or an entirely correct instinct that your project is flawed and the next step is not writing that next scene.
Many people try to be pantsers instead of planners, get maybe a quarter into a project, and then choke. It's because they started with the kind of concept that requires planning, but they haven't planned. If your plot revolves around the characters eventually learning the meaning of life, you'd damn well better start with what you, the author, think that meaning is and work backwards. Same if your characters are solving a twisty mystery or complicated thriller conspiracy: you will not come up with a genius idea that ties everything together just by writing by the seat of your pants. If you don't go in with the ending in mind and some waypoints to write towards, you're going to choke. This is exceptionally common in grandiose fic concepts that are like "What if this true blue hero were a viiiiillain, oooooh!" where it's neat, but 99% of the point is showing us the work of getting from A to B. People write the prologue showing us the big concept and then flash back to how it all started... and then stop.
I see it a lot in projects that start with a character sheet for RP. Yeah, for RP itself, noodling along and figuring out what X would do in situation Y is great fun... but for many longfic/novel plot types, you will not arrive at a workable plot this way. You'll end up with a mess that can, at best, be used as brainstorming and completely rewritten from the ground up, using only key cool images or character observations. There are authors that start from individual characters and then see where they go. In my experience, they don't tend to be working in the genres that fic fandom types tend to want to work in. It's also something that often takes a lot more experience and skill than starting with a basic plot outline, and inexperienced writers often overreach.
It's not writer's block. It's a project that needs to be taken out back like Old Yeller.
Even the salvageable projects that are making you pause usually have some other issue like you not being clear on the central emotional themes even if you've outlined some factual plot. Or you've demanded that your characters do a particular thing for plot convenience, but you know deep down that it doesn't ring true. You can't write the next scene because there is no next scene. You need to rework the forced part till the rest can make sense.
And even more common than any of the above is people thinking that just because Danielle Steel sits down every morning and writes for eight hours, that means they can and should with no warm up or experience. Trying to force yourself to be a type of writer you're not—majorly overdoing it on any work, in fact—just leads to burnout and inability to function.

if you’ve been following a lot of my recent stuff, you’ve probably noticed (or maybe you haven’t, idk!) that I’ve been tagging a few art posts as ‘pitverse’. You’ve also probably noticed that I’ve provided no context to these posts what-so-ever! and that sucks! So to explain a bit, I present:
”surachi what the heck is pitverse”
Tumblr media
Okay, first. ‘Pitverse’ is a working title. Maybe. It’s cheesy, but I kinda like it because it’s cheesy.
Anyways, if you’ve been following me for a while, you may or may not remember this art where I designed a bunch of pits that were loosely based on the different ending to the original Kid Icarus on the NES. Some took influence from different places (eg. the solider ending heavily drawing inspiration from Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters) and some were completely made up (eg. the farm ending’s design). It was fun! And it pretty much started this whole idea to begin with.
Tumblr media
I’d draw some stuff here and there for it, but other than that I never really did much with the idea other than ‘oh hey look designs’. That is until it came up again a couple years later when I started to get *really* into oMaM stuff, which led to me coming back to the idea of a weird multiverse thing.
Thanks to a few friends, we talked about it and eventually it became like a four-swords adventure multiverse labyrinth thing. Pandora’s Labyrinth times twelve. So as it is right now, it’s like a hypothetical game where some new *evil big bad* takes a handful of Pits from different universes/timelines and plops them into some pocket dimension of different levels and challenges, and together, they have to find out what the heck going on.
Tumblr media
Right now, I think I’m gonna try to keep it to three Pits for simplicity sake. Obviously, Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising has to be here, that’s our guy. He’s also the protagonist! He’s left relatively unchanged in this AU. This also takes place in a post-game setting, so he’s already fought Hades. This applies to the other guys as well, even if their hypothetical “games” and adventures aren’t actually real (Factor) or heavily rewritten (Myth) here.
Tumblr media
Good news is that Uprising Pit can still communicate with Palutena! But he’s the only one out of the bunch that can. (Would’nt that have been nice? Imagine all the work you could get done with THREE Palutenas [haha reference]). In this AU’s logic, Uprising’s world in the pocket-dimension what-ch-ma-have-it space is closer to the one where this takes place, so (Uprising) Palutena is able to establish a decent enough connection to at least communicate, though it’s not the best. The other Pit’s worlds are further away, so communication with their respective realms are off the table. This also causes other problems like occasionally “bugging out” and forgetting stuff since they’re so far from their original worlds. So Uprising Pit got kinda lucky.
Tumblr media
Speaking of other Pits, there’s other Pits! Both of them draw inspiration from things previously done/involved in the franchise so they’re not entirely made up, but they do stray pretty far from their source material. Anyway..first, we have Factor! He’s heavily inspired by Factor 5’s rendition of Pit from their “Icarus” project back in 2007-2008 that was turned down. Here, this AU’s interpretation of the idea is a little more in line with the franchise’s overall light-hearted and goofy nature. (In this AU the Pit’s are taken from different points in time, so he would’ve been plucked from the future. I did this so 1. They all could look visually distinct from each other, and 2. the thought of Factor going “oh he doesn’t know about [x] yet” or Uprising Pit insisting Myth to NOT go after the wish seed in the future was funny.)
Tumblr media
Next…there’s Myth! He’s based on Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters, and besides a few plot points he’s pretty much just a modern take on the character. He was easier to pin down because while the concept of Factor’s story was interesting, being banished from the heavens for some unspecified crime, it’s pretty vague in comparison. With Myth, there’s an entire game with a plot to go off of, even if this AU strays a bit from it.
Tumblr media
That’s pretty much the basics of this AU! Just a couple of Pits going on an adventure getting into other-worldly shenanigans. I’m having a ton of fun with it and hopefully I can develop the idea more as I go along. Thanks for reading! There’s some extra footnotes and miscellaneous doodles below.
Tumblr media
• This AU follows the idea that oMaM takes place in a different timeline than Kid Icarus: Uprising, hence it not being referenced (at least not on purpose, I’m looking at you aurum track accidentally having the same intro motif) or mentioned. Plus y’know, Sakurai not knowing it existed so there’s that. Might as well rework it into a weird explanation. (coping)
• All of these worlds take place in different timelines, so Factor isn’t an older version of Uprising Pit, nor is Uprising an older version of Myth. They’re all still Pit, and all of them have fought Medusa, but it had different outcomes (somewhat based on the endings) and at that point they diverged from each other. • I’ll probably change the naming of the Pits at some point. While they’re good right now, I’m not sure if I wanna keep Factor named after a company. Might have their names based off the titles of their respective games, so instead of “Factor”, “Myth”, and “Uprising” it’d be “Icarus” (based on the project’s internal name), “Myth”, and “Uprising”.

Hellven Updates | APRIL
Lets see whats new aye, got a lot of exciting stuff! Rejoice for I have FINALLY finished all 20 background sets. So 3D models and props are ready to go! That task was a chore in itself, probably my least favorite part of this project.
Eitherway, you'll get to see those backgrounds in the panels of the novel.

Novel: Onto the novel itself, Hellven is coming along well. I'm half-way through the rewrite. As a quick summary, Hellven was originally a script that I am turning into a full-length novel. That's why the rewrites are taking so long and I've had to push the release date of this first book later this year perhaps around summer. Out of 16 ( unedited chapters ) 9 have been rewritten clocking in at 240p, or 20-30p (4k words) per chapter. The whole "script" is sitting at 400p. I'm predicting this first book to be around 600 - 800 pages. This isn't a fanfic, so I can't really give updates on the novel as one would do for a comic. It's a strange adjustment, but I hope all of my comic concepts is enough to fill in the gaps while we wait.
Novel Mature content: Hellven is a dark supernatural poly romance, it will have mature content and horror imagery, but nothing explicit. Because of this, I've added a 18+ label to any work that is suggestive on my patreon. However, I want to make it clear that Hellven is NOT a smut book.
Hellven contain sex, as topics of sexuality and gender are big themes in the novel. The story caters more to people on the romantic character drama side rather than pure smut lovers. Graphic depictions of sex and genitals will not be shown. That said, I'm not opposed to NSFW material as a whole, far from it, but I don't want to mislead anyone.

Wow that was a long update. Eitherway, you can support Hellven over on my Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/lunaartgallery view behind the scenes content, concept and panels!
Bye for nows :)

March Content Plans (Long Update)
As it is now the 25th here in frosty England, it has officially been 2 months since I published my first piece of fan fiction. In that time, I've released:
A one-shot containing my first ever attempt at both monster smut and an explicit F/F sex scene (which is currently my most popular work????)
A low angst (I know, I can't believe it either) romantic one-shot from the POV of a golden retriever
4 chapters of an emotionally intense story that is so far from my usual writing style I have to re-read earlier chapters to remind myself how to write it (a deliberate stylistic choice but boy, am I paying for it)
3 chapters of what was meant to be a fun side project and is quickly turning into something deep and dark and wonderful in its own right
All in all, that's 4 bodies of work spanning 57.7k words released over a period of 9 weeks (not including the 15-20k which got rewritten / replaced / outright cut). Which is, for me, insane. It's also a pace that I won't be able to maintain going forward, so for the sake of setting expectations (my own, more than anyone else's), here's the current plan for March:
The Monsters At My Side And In My Shadow Ch 1-3 update Given that this has gone from "werewolf smut hiding in a multi-chapter fic" to "multi-fic exploration of abuse with a healthy dollop of smut", I want to revise what's already been released to better align with what I have going forward. There won't be any plot / event changes, scenes that get altered will be getting either an expansion or a rewrite, depending on the work needed (which will include adding more smut-adjacent content because it's currently lacking and I want it to be better).
Untitled - An Ember POV Story to Celebrate 1yr Since The Bees Kissed (March 25th) @reeves3 put the idea in my head and now I have a collection of outlines covering various points in Yang and Blake's relationship all told from the perspective of the Best Girl. They won't come out in chronological order as I'm looking to line them up with various events, but the current plan is that March 25th will cover the introduction of a new member into the Xiao Long-Belladonna pack.
Additionally, I'd like to release the following chapters but I am forcing myself to accept that these will likely get bumped to April:
The Monsters At My Side And In My Shadow Ch 4
Shattered Divinity Ch 5
There's a few reasons for the (temporary) slowdown in content:
I am supposed to draft 1 - 3 OC novels this year (the mistake of mixing alcohol with an empty resolutions boards and the word "bet") and I need to dedicate more time than I have done to those projects to have any hope of doing that.
Rather than wait for the fan fic writer's curse to hit, I've gone and done it to myself by buying my first house. The offer got accepted yesterday, so now I have to deal with the joys of legal and financial paperwork. And start prepping for a move. And every other stressful time consuming thing that comes from this period. Don't get me wrong, I am fucking ecstatic, not least because it means me having an actual bedroom for the first time in almost 4 years, but the next steps are going to take a chunk out of my usual writing time.
@kaelidascope is about to drop a veritable feast of content. Look, I'm not subtle about how much I enjoy her work. She's my favourite fan fic writer. She's probably one of my favourite writers period on account of the emotional damage and veritable joy Mightnight Menagerie has brought me. And I'm not just saying this because she's been exceptionally complimentary of my own work (which, by the way, I am still freaking out over). She is one of the main reasons I started writing fan fiction. If it wasn't for the original Beestfic, I'd never have written The Hunt. Which means I'd never have had the concept ideas that initially led to starting The Monsters At My Side And In My Shadow, and without that fic, I wouldn't have had the 3 experimental scenes between Yang and her grimm which ended up inspiring the idea to write Best Laid Plans from Ember's POV. So I will be setting aside some time (translation: every waking moment I have during release weekend) to thoroughly immerse myself in the relaunch. Also there's two Menagerie chapters due and the previews are already threatening my analytics brain and unfortunately it takes time to launch that kind of assault on AO3's comment section.
So yeah. A few things going on in March. I'm gonna try and do this as a rolling monthly thing going forward in lieu of trying to have a timed release schedule. Hopefully the April one will be a bit lot shorter.

Developmental Editing
What is a developmental editor (DE): A DE helps you work through your story, identifying problems, generating ideas, and create a well thought out story. Developmental editing and structural editing often cross into one another and focus on the same goals/objectives.
When to get a DE: You can start getting a DE before you’ve even finished writing your first manuscript. In fact, it may be best to do so, because if there are many plot holes or problems, your story may need to be overhauled, and no one wants to waste time working on a project that is mostly going to be rewritten anyways.
Benefits of having a DE: Finding a DE in the exact genre you’re working on may be a little harder, but you will know they have the most knowledge in those genres, especially since fiction rules can differ between genres. Having a DE also makes it easier when structurally editing your manuscript, and can be less time consuming and costly.
What they do for you:
Check concepts
work on plot and structure coherence
character development and arcs
genre and sub-genre tips and tricks to help your story flourish
help with themes and presentation throughout the novel
help with plot points, twists and ways to present new information without info dumping
What they won’t do for you:
Grammar, punctuation and spelling problems
go through line by line to clarify meaning
help restructure chapters and paragraphs
typesetting
When choosing an editor, be sure to be clear as to what you want from them, and what services they can offer you. No two editors are the same. Some may offer more services while others may specialize in more specific ways. Typically, you can ask for a sample of their work to determine if you will match with your editor, or if they’re not the right fit for you.
If you found this helpful, like, comment, share, and follow for more! Next Friday will be Structural Editing.
Happy Writing!

You know what, screw it! I’m a tell you guys my secret project.
So I’ve seen a lot of people rewrite Fnaf before (most of the time it’s specific characters, security breach, or just certain events) but what about the entirety of fnaf? Well that’s what I’m doing, I’m even redesigning everyone. i’ve been working on this since late 2022, been doing a ton of rewrites, but all of it came from the same AU. Originally was gonna be called “Brittle bones Mikey” AU. then I called it “the brittle souls” AU. Now I finally have an actual title for it. Fnaf Records.
Basically, it’s the first six games but well, rewritten to add a lot more context, character development, and relationships. What were characters motives? What are their personalities? Did the missing kids finally have characterization? All yes in my rewrite of fnaf. this all came from the song, brittle bones Nicky. Then more scenes got planned out in my head with more songs I listen too. And yeah, it all snowballed from there.
It’s going to be a fanfiction, because I do not know how to game develop. This is just a passion project/love letter to fnaf. Because without the series, I would probably not be alive.
here’s some concept art of the rewrite!

Hello! Firstly, this is an incredible project you’ve got here and I’m very impressed by the amount of work put into this. I’ve always been frustrated warriors isn’t as good as it could be so it’s cool to see someone doing such a cool project.
Secondly, I remember reading that at least one cat was rewritten to be deaf, but I can’t remember who that was. Also, what do you think life is like for a deaf cat in the clans? They’d have more difficultly than a normal deaf cat since the clan cats use verbal language. Some books mention tail signals meaning specific things, so do you think the cats have a nonverbal system of communicating?
Deafness is THE hardest sensory disability for a Clan cat to have. Moreso than blindness, moreso than a lack of scent. The Clans are heavily inaccessible to people who are deaf, unfortunately, but the fact there's now 5 cats in recent memory with total deafness is causing active change.
The biggest problem is the fact that a deaf cat has a hard time understanding how loud they are. Hunting is a lot harder when you both can't hear prey scuffling around AND can't tell when your actions are making a lot of noise to scare your quarry off. In Clanmew, the sounds animals make are so important that they're even named after them; "European Jay" is Arkr, "Toad" is Amam, "Frog" is Roeg.
This comes easier when a cat isn't born deaf, but cats like Snowkit and Whitewing need a lot more training than an abled warrior.
The other problem is a lack of accessibility. Clanmew is heavily verbal with tone indicated by body language, Whitewing can tell you're being sarcastic but not WHAT you're being sarcastic about unless she's lipreading. Hearing loud commands over the heat of battle is also an issue, you can't obey a "RETREAT" order if you don't notice your clanmates are fleeing as well, even with an appropriate tail signal.
When you mention the tail signals-- that's from Battles of the Clans, and they're limited to combat commands. I also created a glyph system for the cats to write with as well which covers more non-battle concepts.
Snowkit in particular LOVED glyphs. Brackenfur (his nephew) was bonding with him over it, expanding it out. If Snowkit hadn't died, he would have forged a ton of new signs, especially related to constellations which he was very fond of.
I'm approaching deafness accommodations as something the Clans are actively working on, unlike a lot of other rewrites which have a sign language pre-prepared! Especially in the modern age when warfare has become more organized, giving the cats more time to work on new things.
The cats who are deaf in my rewrite so far are;
Featherkit (not super important but this is Dappletail's child and Graystripe's sister. She died of plague and Feathertail is named after her.)
Snowkit (sadly his death is narratively important, but has an expanded personality and he dies shoving Tawnykit out of the way of the hawk. It isn't related to his deafness.)
Whitewing (Feels pressured to 'live the life Snowkit couldn't,' which is damaging. Serious and pious.)
Dovewing (Loses her hearing along with her powers, frustrated by her lack of autonomy which eventually causes her to leave ThunderClan. "I don't WANT to practice glyphs right now leave me alone stop making yourselves feel better by trying to 'fix' me")
Fallowfern (In-canon she only loses her hearing in old age, but I want to make her hearing loss an earlier onset.)

I know you for the silly bear game content but I just realized you have a creepy pas to AU I am interested in knowing more about this
Tumblr media
CREEPYPASTA!!!
My creepypasta AU is very, very fun for me. It's called The Abyss and it's been in the brainstorming process for four years, perhaps four and a half. It's gone through multiple phases and development time periods, but I'm glad to say that the concept comic is being worked on currently as of answering this ask!
It's based on the 2010's creepypasta fandom, with characters such as Jeff the Killer, Slenderman, Masky, Hoodie, Clockwork, Jane the Killer, etc., all reconfigured and reimagined to be a supposed continuation of Marble Hornets and a creepypasta crossover.
It's called The Abyss because the Abyss is the homebase that everyone returns to, it being an alternate dimension of nothing but dead trees, dilapidated buildings, endless night, and a whole bunch of evil human beings running amuck. Fantastic fun!
The basic gist of what's going to be happening when the series starts is, in the year 2021, Tim Wright is still running and escaping from the tentacles of the "Slenderman", "Operator", "Superior", what have you, but we just refer to it as The Boss. Tim is a very valuable asset that keeps managing to escape from it, valuable because... no one really knows. The Boss doesn't speak. If you work for it, you just get a general feeling of what it wants at any point in time.
Usually, the missions that the Proxies (the title is very nostalgic for me) go on usually involve mercenary and assassin work toward the Surface's (reality's) worst people to ever exist. Originally, The Abyss was only going to center around this concept, but I thought including a manhunt featuring Tim from Marble Hornets would be an interesting plot to center all the other characters around.
There are three different categories of characters that interact with each other: The Proxies, The Outcasts, and The Apprentices. You'll get a chance to meet all of them, don't worry. The cast is made up of redesigned and rewritten creepypastas in order to fit the narrative (hence why it's called an AU), and then a few original characters of my own to fill gaps here and there.
Both this and Hurricane have been my passion projects and I've already introduced Wild Cat to this blog, and I'll be over the moon to start working on The Abyss when I learn how to balance both projects. Gotta remember that I'm working by myself on this and I'm not superhuman :3
If anyone else would like to send me an ask about anything at all, feel free to do so! I love to answer questions <333

FREEBIE QUESTION, BUT IT'S FOR ALL OF YOUR FANDOM CHARACTERS AND ORIGINAL CHARACTERS
SPILL THE TEA TO ME, SIS!!!
HFJSI GIRRRLLLL YOU'RE OPENING PANDORA'S BOX
In terms of main Kirby OCs (fandom/franchise characters):
Eave, Twyla, Fintan, Slinx, Squire, King Orpheus, Jesse, Ducky and the Dusters, Princess Alatariel, Nimue & Gilroy, and Malacai
I love all my goobers to pieces! And Orpheus, oh Orpheus has taken over my life. I no longer have control over my story because of him. It's his story now, and I'm the lowly servant who's constantly subjected to his demands for me to rewrite things 😭 I've rewritten his intro episode at least 5 times, and now he's injected himself into DotS:MMM. Orpheus PLEASE I NEED A BREAK— I WAS JUST FINISHING PART 6 IN SCRIPT FORMAT YOU JERK
Thia man's made me rewrite his ENTIRE BACKSTORY THREE TIMES! And now I have to rewrite his WHOLE NOVEL SERIES. YES THE WHOLE NOVEL DEDICATED TO JUST HIM. I have to rewrite it from THE GROUND UP. JUST AS I FINISHED CHAPTER 2.
CHAPTER 2 HAS BEEN COMPLETELY SLAMMED OUT OF CANON. I spent 4 months writing it and he just went "mmmm nah, not canon". 20+ pages. TWENTY. PLUS. PAGES. Right in the trash. Gone. Reduced to atoms. I love Orpheus. But he likes to make me work. I'm not allowed to relax 😭 and what's worse is that's also in character for him 😭😭😭😭 I can't control this man, he controls MEEEE *SOB*
Woes aside– Main official characters that I manage in DotS are the following:
Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, Sir/King Arthur, Magolor, Kirby (shared), and Bandana Waddle Dee (shared)
My sis and co-writer @starlightfyre handles other officials in our AU! She's got King Dedede, Taranza, all of Arthur's knights (Falspar, Dragato, etc.), and more!
They're all pretty neat! :D
Original character and original content rambling below the cut here, if anyone is interested in my OG projects:
In terms of active proper OCs, my main cast has been demoted to just being doodle buddies and officially retired from being a series. All my OCs are sorta on standby until I have some story ideas for them! My mains under World Jumpers are these goobers:
Oswald, Tempest, Blaize, Asoné, Raymond, and Xylea! Ozzy and Tempest are the protagonists with the rest being secondary!
I've wrestled with their story for so long that I decided to throw in the towel and admit defeat early this year. It's been 14 long years with these guys collectively, and no actual plot or meaning to their story? Yeah no time to shelve it for good. I have a very fleshed out world for them, but it's really detailed to the point where it's kinda convoluted, but it's been set in stone for so long that I can't undo it without shattering everything
So I figured it'd just be better to start fresh with something else later. I love WJ, but after the history I've had with WJ, it's better that I leave it to rest. The world and story was too big for just me, and I tried for years to find a partner as passionate about the world as I was, but none were. I lost my passion after getting burned out due to stress writing and drawing everything. I love WJ, love my characters and world, but it's a story that never wanted to be told
Since then I've sort of been at a loss on what to do next in terms of original projects. I've got loads of WIP ideas and concepts from over the years, but none have really jumped up at me like DotS has for years 😭
I have a lot of OCs, like A LOT. I had a list and there's like easily 100+ named characters in WJ's universe alone
The others are much smaller! These are all my WIP OG stories:
Project: "Listen" | Animated anthro film inspired by "Cats Don't Dance", focuses on Kaeden who is a mute genet whose dream is to be an actor, despite having a job as a director easily lined up for him. Faces a bit of adversity in a market that hankers for a voice; he becomes friends with a frustrated actress who's been locked into the same kind of roles for years, and wishes to do more, who becomes a voice for Kaeden when he needs it most (I aspire to have an actual deaf/mute person be Kaeden's voice through sign language, since animators will nees references for his dialogue; they'll be put in the credits as his voice because they are! LOVE!)
Project: "Dragon Rider" | Sort of a chosen-one story with a twist, focuses on the struggle between duty and desire. Female protagonist is the prophesized reincarnation of a figure that's meant to bring her tribe into a new golden age, but when she bonds with an unexpected and common kind of dragon (and not the big gaudy one they expected), she faces a dilemma: follow the wishes of her people or her own heart?
Project: "Willemina" | Sci-fi detective story that was originally a spinoff of WJ, so it's set in the same universe. Main protag is non-binary hoomin (human-like species of mine), Willemina, a former space ranger gone private detective investigating the mysterious murder of a local guardian. Will befriends the late guardian's companion, a sweet little Weapon Spirit, and sets out to solve the mystery together (and discovering said weapon spirit's very useful defensive abilities)
Most everyone from each respective story has concept art or complete designs!

During Toonfest 2016, a small Virtual Reality demo set in Toontown Central was shown off, even gaining an accompanying blog post. Older players may also remember a small recording of the demo, posted by Slate.
Tumblr media
Following the event, not much was said about this demo, and it was silently abandoned. However, on July 8th, 2023, Twitter user @AnthonyTewtow11 made a post about it, prompting a reply from Hawkheart.
Alongside this, Hawkheart shared some clips from the demo that had not yet been publically released:

Special thanks to @AnthonyTewtow11 on Twitter for the original thread and screenshots, and another to Hawkheart for sharing these clips. A copy of the twitter thread has been provided below.
Anthony11: Did You Know? In 2016 Toontown Rewritten announced a new game they'd be working on being a version of Toontown In VR "VR Town". Showcasing screenshots and even a playable demo at their OmgCon booth in 2016. Although after OmgCon nothing was ever mentioned about this game since. It’s unknown how much progress was made on this game. There was a second demo of Toontown Central as well, but it’s likely the Project was silently abandoned, possibly because this side project took away resources from the main game. It would've also been developed in Unreal4.
Hawkheart: This was always just going to be a small demo! The progression of development was that we started with the Toontorial intro building, switched to TTC, and then Toon Hall. Here's a few clips from along the way: [CLIPS]
Anthony11: Woah! That's really cool to see these older clips. I always thought this was more than just a demo when they talked about this. Was this ever planned to be released? or what was this ever going to be for? I've always been kind of curious about this project.
Hawkheart: I don't remember if we were going to release it proper - we didn't completely finish the concept we'd settled on either. The final concept was a "museum of gags" where you'd teleport around and play around with each of the gags a little bit. We got the actor we work with for the trailers to record some voice lines to go along with them, and set up some of the gags to have basic interactions (see the demo of the magnet pulling the anvil at high speed) but didn't fully implement everything in time.

Looking at how media has progressed, specifically TV shows, it's so funny how quickly the 'new model' takes over everything and people just...idk, freak out? heavily criticize? get a false sense of superiority over? any show that steps foot outside their newly expected box.
Memories are short, we know this. But it really wasn't long ago that TV shows put out pilots that were filmed entirely separate from the rest of the season and that pilot had to do really well in order for the show to be picked up at all. This led to pilot episodes being suuuuuper blunt about the concept, characters, world, and plot (and many times some stuff retconned in the subsequent episodes). Because those TV shows that survived have become well known and well loved, those first episodes/seasons have been rewritten in people's minds to the point where they genuinely don't remember how hamfisted writing was at the beginning of the show - because that's how they got people to be interested in watching.
It wasn't part of the model to 'show not tell' and stretch basic character beats out for the entire season. Due to the format, they front loaded exposition to let the watcher get a feel for the characters/world and THEN slowed down and settled in. Once we moved to a show structure where things were connected (part of a franchise), shows stopped front loading so much though it was still there- after all, they were still airing week-to-week on cable. But they trusted the 'built in' audience because the show was based on an already popular thing.
Then Netflix started dropping shows in one huge chunk. Now, you didn't have to worry about hooking a viewer immediately and shoving the whole world building exposition into the first episode, you just needed to give them the basics (especially if it was fantasy) and then provide a cliffhanger at the end of each episode that would support the 'binge' model of viewing.
Now, we've started to shift back to a weekly format for many shows, though they all seem to be still part of franchises, so that audience is already built in. But we do get '2 episode' or '3 episode' premiers to let the set-up take it's time while still giving viewers enough to ground them in the world and look forward to more.
So the point here is that none of these writing formats is 'wrong' and none of them are 'right'. They shift to accommodate how the show is going to be viewed. When people criticize 'wonky pacing', I just can't help but roll my eyes. Maybe you personally don't like the pace, but the pace isn't 'wrong'. Hell, I love high fantasy and people freak out all the time about the slow pace of that. People see shows dropping at an unconventional rate and declare that it's because the studio has no faith in the project and it's bad, actually (see Echo, which was really, really, good actually).
When people criticize 'heavy exposition' in first episodes, I roll my eyes again. That's what you do when you're introducing people to a world (especially a fantasy one) and the story isn't centered around figuring out how the world works. Sure, if you like slowly figuring out how the world works, then a show that doesn't explore that might not be your cup of tea, but recognize that and know that that's personal taste, not objective writing truth. First episodes can be REALLY GOOD and also have heavy exposition.
I like being able to look at all the different ways storytelling is done - the different paces, focus on different things, etc etc. Classics are written VERY differently from modern stuff, stories from different cultures are extremely different from ones you've always grown up with, thrillers are going to be told differently from cozy fantasy. None of these are 'wrong' or 'bad writing' because it's not the other. They're just different.
I guess what I'm saying is get out of your little 'media critique' bubble and understand there's no one correct way to write a story. Your obsession with 'spotting bad writing' is actually defeating your ability to critically examine media outside your extremely narrow world view. Look back to the past and realize things were done so differently then, but understand that it wasn't 'bad'. Look to other cultures/genres and understand one isn't 'better' than the other and should be the 'standard'.
It's ok to prefer one way over the other, but be careful tossing out the blanket, nearly meaningless now, 'bad writing' criticism as if you actually know what that means.
(Why does all my annoyance at 'media criticism' feel like it always circles back to Cinema Sins and the irreparable damage they did to people's brains?)

1/19/24 Writing Projects Update
Tumblr media
Last week was pretty slow with minimal progress on anything, hence no update then. There was an arctic cold blast that came through the area and between that and the day job, my brain only cared about vegging out and staying warm, so I mainly read a lot of fanfic and poked my writing with a stick every few days.
Though, I know exactly where each one needs to go next. The real problem was getting the words in the brain to arrange themselves in an orderly fashion to come out of he fingers. They didn't want to do that. All they wanted to do was scatter and hide any time I came near them, kinda like squirrels on a sugar high.
Until yesterday. Yesterday was one of those days I love having when everything aligns just right. I didn't have an overwhelming work load at the day job and, all of a sudden, the words were there.
Project Zander
Word Count: 6364 for Chapter Two
So, yesterday I started out doing some world building and brain dumping about part one and two on the role of magic in the world and the difference between regular witches and what the trio become. That evolved into exploring the culture around magic for two different countries which evolved into shaping the plot of parts one and two, coming up with plot twists and foundations for part three, and exploring the concept of the power of belief when it comes to legends and gods entangled in magic.
At lunch, I was still brimming with excitement about what I'd put down and ended up finishing the last scene of chapter two. It's been bugging me for over a week now, because I only needed to finish one scene and it was like pulling teeth. The scene wasn't even that complicated, either, but I managed to get it finished, so score for me!
Now I can dedicate my weekend to polishing chapter two and getting it ready to send off to my beta reader. I'm always rather happy to get to this part of the writing process. I love it all, but the editing and rewriting sometimes feels like I make more progress faster, probably because I have something on the page to work with so there's a visual marker.
So, story-wise, the trio are on the move, a little broken and battered and highly concerned about avoiding the predator that will soon be stalking their trail. The chapter was from Darius' POV and he is both drowning in anxiety and completely over the situation as a whole. He would love a hot bowl of soup, a warm blanket, and for someone else to be in charge so he can focus on bitching about the snow and how much he is not made for winter.
Unfortunately, in chapter three, he will still be stuck out in the snow and things will continue to get worse. :D
Rabbit Come Home Part 3
Word Count: 16549
This one took me by surprise during certain parts of last week when I didn't want to write much at all but I ended up editing and rewriting quite a bit on it. My main problem with part three has been how to give the series a satisfying ending, but I think I figured it out.
And it may need a part 4. Possibly. More than likely.
I've also written, re-written, and re-rewritten the scene where Stiles tells everyone what really happened and why she was gone for four years. I'm still not completely satisfied with it, so I think I may rewrite it one more time from a different angle between Stiles and Lydia and see how that one plays out. I have versions where she tells John first, then where she tells Derek first, and I just don't feel quite sold on either.
Also, there has to be one more dramatic and angsty fight scene where Stiles can show off her zombie apocalypse skills and the more I try to wrap up this chapter, the more I'm realizing it just won't fit in part three. Part three needs to be focused on Stiles settling back into her home reality and patching things up with the pack--and learning about what happened while she was gone.
But I have a good idea of how that needs to go, I just have to get through the Reveal scene/s to my liking. Then I can work on the ending. I'm really excited about the ending idea I have.
Home Across the Universe, Story #10
Word Count: 3216
Not a lot has been done on this one in the past two weeks. I've poked at it here and there, did some rewriting and some cutting. Mostly it's still marinating on a back burner. I'll probably take another run at it once I get Zander's chapter done and sent off.
Into the Black, Episode 2
Word Count: 5876
Another one still marinating, I don't think I did anything new on it, but I've made some notes on it here and there when inspiration strikes and I'm excited to work on the later scenes that happen planet-side, since it will reveal some more of what happened at the Academy to Stiles and Lydia and introduce another Teen Wolf character into the mix.
I've also made some short brainstorm session notes on future episodes. Guys, I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll just say this: Coach Finstock, in space. Oh yeah, it'll happen and it's gonna be glorious.

For those interested in reading Emblem of the Siren
this is a psa, personal notes, and revisions to be seen in the new and revised chapters in the works. What has changed as far as characters, plot and the creator (me! )
Tumblr media
As some of you have known as I have hinted multiple times, that the fanfiction has been up for years and has not received an update other than disclaimers. That's because my only use for it by this point has been as a crude outline for the rewritten version. Which I don’t want to hide either, even if I would like to because of it’s bad attempt at crass subject matter and traumatic concepts that could have been detailed more tastefully. I was an angry kid when I started writing. Thanks to receiving tons of therapy and life development, I feel that I can tackle those subjects from a more realistic standpoint rather than the sheltered worldview that I used to have.
With that being said, certain characters will not receive the significant changes, evil or not. And there will be a list designating who to expect that from and why.
Key characters that will receive no changes in the updates:
• Ostegoth (he deals, he smokes, we love ostegoth in this house and he does no wrong in his choices to pinch a coin/relic!)
• The Lord of Bones and subjects (He is an abusive monarch in cannon. I don’t think I could really rewrite it without sacrificing any personality traits and same goes for everyone else. I gotta keep the plot spicy somehow *shrugs* he keeps his satisfying end.
• Draven (the evil characterization does not suit him at all! For someone as neutral in the story, he’s a mentor and a bro, will remain that way in the update)
List of characters receiving drastic changes:
• Genevieve (Even if the basic layout will remain the same, [Which I will entail in a bio later on!] girl needs a confidence boost amongst other things. I wrote my oc without any experience in the industries that she were in on Earth and I unfairly wrote it out as something that she should be ashamed of. A similar backstory has been made with room to overcome and develop through. I am also adding certain flashbacks as well to highlight her character)
• Vulgrim (overly misogynistic, no chill, not cool. He will have more significance late story to demand changes in his character now)
• All Makers ( some changes of certain terms that could be considered misogynistic (in Thane’s case, thankfully they never made the final cut) but they are written as cinnamon rolls that need not a change other than their butchered dialect. Sorry for those, European readers.
• Death (he is emotionally ambiguous unless it concerns those he cares about. Though, he will be given the least amount of changes within the plot the way it is, but interactions are the main concern. I thought the intimate lines throughout the story were great work and somehow I was commended for them. However, the ones that are close without intimacy such as the first encounter and up to chapter 12, came across to me as far too cold and even the later scrapped chapters after that were the same. It was another situation of traumatic projection that I've long figured out how to handle. His personality is the same, a rude old one with a dark and mysterious emotional wall. One that's breakable with the proper writing and warmth. Y'know, like Fury. Only worse 🙃)
With all of that being said, the fanfiction will remain up to read. I cannot keep u from looking up the outdated version. But know this dude, How to write more ethically came along as well. I am willing to try again.
Doing that in writing this story in comic form in the meantime of the actual writing!
Have a variant for getting this far! 🥰
Thank u!
