y’know I respect a fan’s choice about how they want to view mizu but tiny ramble about it here. this isn’t any sort of discussion or ‘matter of fact’ essay, just a simple rant about headcannons about her being TRANS and her SEXUALITY.

Warning: extremely long.

Given the numerous limitations that would arise from traveling as a woman, I find it very difficult to understand why some people believe Mizu is transgender when it's obvious that she is hiding this information in order to survive. This was particularly true during the Edo period, when women were dehumanized and treated like objects because we only ever see them as a slave or working in a brothel (majority of the show at least). They were also seen having to depend on men for nearly everything, as demonstrated in the episode where the mother and daughter were left outside to freeze to death since her husband was not present to accompany them. Along with that subtle hints were presented to us that show how comfortable she is when in touch with her femininity like a few moments in the episode where she came back to Swords-father Eiji’s hut. Though, I can definitely see why people would label her as transmasc with the theory that she must’ve grown so accustomed to this sort of lifestyle, she’d perhaps just become transmasc in the later episodes. We’ll never know!

Next, not gonna lie, I’m insanely guilty of viewing Mizu as a bisexual women despite feeling that she is leaning more toward heterosexuality in terms of her sexuality. I have the biggest fattest crush on her so I have no problem stating how much I'm crying and wailing over this. Like c’mon, let's be real, I guarantee that 98% of simps are female, and I’m sure every single one of us has mentioned once that we can all treat her better than Mikio and Taigen. Speaking of Taigen, I HAVE to admit that him and Mizu do have the best chemistry compared to everyone in the show. It’s clear in the way she pulls him away from those shooting arrows, knocks him out becahse she fears for his safety if he follows, saving him from Fowler's castle even though she could have easily just left him to die and slain Fowler, etc. At first, I would’ve assumed she’d have trauma with men especially after Mikio’s betrayal which might’ve led her to stray away from any romantic attraction with men—or anybody in general. Honestly, I have dedicated my time to search for ANY hint (ok not rlly) that she might be attracted to women, but the only time I ever see her become flustered by one is when she appears to be taken aback by the prostitues she tried to ask for directions to the Shindo Dojo. Plus, there were only two occasions where she interacted with Akemi that people use to automatically ship them which is when she saw Akemi in her carriage (not sure of the specific name) and pinned her down in Madame Kaji's brothel. I can’t imagine them as a couple in later episodes, something I’m been dying to see. Though, it’s hard to determine what was running in her mind during the scene where they both stole glances at each other, especially since there was no sort of indication in her inner thoughts or emotions, so it’s normal to assume the above as well. (Despite that, I’m still rooting for AT LEAST bisexual Mizu because for the love of god and for the sake of all of the gay women here, PLEASE. /j)

I may make jokes about these headcannons like playfully hating on the TaiMizu ships. All in all, I’m sure the fans are mature enough to understand that these are meant to be lighthearted jokes and that people interpret a character and show in various ways and it’s normal! Even if I can’t comprehend the theory or feel as though it is a little too complicated/really negotiable, remember to support what you want, ship what you want, make whatever headcannons, nobody’s stopping you! Don’t be too afraid to just announce what you feel about the show. All I ask is to avoid SERIOUSLY cancelling someone just because of their own feelings and opinions. In the end, they’re stilll fictional characters (😞😞) who have no sort of physical form of any sort so do whatever, as long as it isn’t really THAT problematic in a sense (e.g. romanticising rape), go for it.

(Sorry for bringing her sexuality into this, I’m aware of how the show is definitely not centering on this and not every single thing has to be LGBTQ-related but I noice it’s something constantly brought up in the fandom. As someone whose phrasing and essay writing skills suck, I’m still learning bit by bit about how the world works in terms of differing views on things. I may not support your idea of a character but I RESPECT it! If I came off as rude, I’m sorry, remember it’s just my random midnight thoughts🙏)

[ Alright, here’s the second post to my Deep Sea AU! ]

[ this one is separately just about the Kinito Crew, just some basic info about em! PS: this post is gonna be RLLY long, and before I rlly get to them, I just wanna talk about some basic stuff! ]

Now for this crew, what are they, they are a type of Mermaid/Siren species, mixed in whit other types of Sea/Water based life, they are around double as big as a normal human [let’s say average human being 5 feet tall].

They are very prone to attack humans, most of the time they would attack small ships to boats that would just be out at sea, they aren’t much afraid to come close to humans, so even small boats on the shore aren’t safe, this was one of the reasons why the company had to capture them.

They have siren like powers, where they can potentially manipulate humans to do what they tell them to, it can either be done over the eye‘s or voice!

Voice manipulation: based around the „singing“ I rather want to use something based on the idea of „Binarual Beats“ which a normal human can’t hear, but can have an impact on the brain.

Here they have sertain soundwaves in their voices, that when telling someone to do something for them, they have an incredible strong impact, not rlly like hypnosis cause the person is still awake and aware, but feels more like „if I don’t do this my heads gonna explode“.

For this, the company has developed special ear buds, which allows the wearer to hear, but it kills and Sound waves which could have a negative impact on the brain.

Eye manipulation: this one rarely gets used by them, for this, let’s use kinito as an example, needs to keep full eye contact for a while, which then can put the affected in a type of trance, or if done shortly, can again have affect on the brain. [which can causea panic like feeling]

Just like before, the company came up which glasses/contact lenses, which keeps someone from being put into a trace.

Workers are required to wear both at all times when handling anyone from the crew, so sayd worker is aware of his surroundings at all times and doesn’t get distracted!

Now let’s get a bit more into these three!

But before I start, I wanna say I had to ignore real biology a bit, mainly because I’m making mermaids here, and this plays in the Sea, if I would make kinito fully and axolotl, he would not sieving in such salty waters, so while all of them still have parts of their original species, they are still mainly mermaid like creatures! Okay let’s go!

Kinito

Species: Part Axolotl Sea creature

Size: 11 feet tall

Specific ability: extremely quick, glows under fluorescent light.

Kinito is a good in between Sam and Jade, Thinks before he act‘s, but still has quite the short temper when he doesn’t get what he wants, but will put up an act to have a better chance to get his way!

Jade

Species: Part Jellyfish Sea Creature

Size: 9 feet tall

Specific ability: can glow in the dark, tentacle can stink and paralyze victim.

Jade is the calmest of the group, thinks before she act‘s which even in her scared up state kept her out of a lot of trouble, she‘s more quiet, and in captivity only attacks when she feel threatened, that doesn’t mean she’s gonna be nice…

Sam

Species: part Anemone Sea creature

Size: 10 feet tall

Specific ability: tentacles can sting and paralyze victim, strongest of the three.

While naturally being more layed back, Sam is VERY aggressive towards humans, and will straight up just attack out of the blue, mostly being kept back my Jade.

Thankfully much less thoughts about these two or else this post would get way too long lmao. I like them but I'm not too insane about them I guess? Etho's very awkward near people he isn't used to which was fun to watch but made their interactions kind of limited for a lot of DL I feel.

Joel's obsession with Etho is hilarious and seeing Bdubs get jealous of his #1 ethogirl status getting challenged is great fun. He's definitely gone through a bit of an arc from "I KILLED ETHO! I KILLED ETHO!!" in Last Life to "Eefo D:< You're making me nervous, eefo D:<" in Double Life to whatever the cow divorce situation was in Limlife. It seems like Etho's otherworldly status has been nerfed in his head and he's much less intimidated by him, while still admiring him in that 'childhood hero' sorta way.

I think because of that I've always seen them a little bit as more of a mentor/prodigy relationship than anything else? Specifically one that Etho is not even aware he's in. Eitherway, I don't really ship them in the romantic sense 🤷‍♂️ etho's just way too aloof and joel's got too much fangirl energy for it to be anything intimate lol

Soo heres my Zero headcanons !

Zero is agender and goes by they/it/she pronouns. Also they’re asexual panromantic ! I don’t particularly ship her w anyone BUT my friend rlly likes Ninazero so thats the only ship content I rlly create with Zero lolz

I have made tons of art of this before but Zero and Nurse Ann are best friends. They really seem like they match together for me in an opposites attract sorta way god I love platonic nursezero so MUCH

Zero’s a very chaotic person, similar to Nina except like 100% more unhinged. She thrives in chaos, constantly looking for dangerous or risky situations to get into because it just loves the thrill. Especially if there’s explosions involved.

They’re colorblind, specifically unable to see red, green, or blue very well. Everything is very muted to them. She hates bright colors as well, just in general.

She’s very muscular. I mean, it kinda has to be to use that massive hammer. Zero works out a lot and it SHOWS.

God i love them sm Zero is so AWESOME the fandom collectively needs to wake up and make more content for her 😔

The man you had come to Scarif to find, and capture had been put in restraints and locked in a small holding cell on the ship, and though you were all ready to leave this planet, Obi-Wan had suggested to lay over for the night, to take a rest and to regroup before the morning.

You were perfectly fine with his decision, racing him back to the room you had been given, and not waiting a second after the door was opened before jumping onto the bed, face first. If the council saw you doing this, they would be very grumpy, but they weren't here. Just Obi-Wan, and even though he normally wasn't as tolerant of stupidity, he held back a chuckle at your antics, shaking his head.

"And here I thought you'd been tired," he shrugged off his robe and hung it by the door, catching yours after you threw it to him and did the same.

"I am tired."

Your giggling fit of exhaustion should have proven that. You remember a time when Anakin came home late like this, laughing his head off and waking you up. You now understood the struggle of fighting against the drunkenness of being so tired.

"Go get ready for bed, and please do try to be quiet. I don't want to deal with complaints in the morning," he ushered you into the 'fresher with your change of clothes, rolling his eyes as you seemed to be stuttering your steps.

Once the door was shut, he quickly changed himself, heaving a breath and letting it out.

He was having a hard time with you, or specifically being around you since the scene in the nightclub. The way you handled yourself was remarkable, truly he was proud of you, he was. But when that Twi'lek girl was talking to you, he realized how truly innocent you were.

She is a pure jedi, never to be had before in her life.

He taught you well, letting you know of the ways of the worlds, but even though you knew of these things, you'd never done them. You'd never been touched, barely been kissed, and only because it was, he who was foolish enough to let his emotions for you overcome him. He couldn't help it, he loved you. Loving you had been a very innocent thing until tonight. Until tonight he was content to share the forehead kisses, hold you close to him after a nightmare, or when you felt scared, or even just when you were lonely and missing Anakin.

It was all different, now. He knew however little experience he had; it he still knew what it was like. To feel someone that close to you, so intimately. He was sure at one point in his life he was in love, but oh how he was wrong. He grew out of it but remembered the only thing clouding his mind was lust. The need to be felt by another human being, to be tangled with them and to give and receive pleasure.

You were unknowledgeable about such things and could not possibly crave it. He was being foolish to think about it, now... but what if you ever asked him? You'd been plenty comfortable to ask him private things before, and he was always comfortable to answer you. If you came to him for answers after tonight, he wasn't so sure it would be just another conversation. Would he tell you it is an activity meant for those who are in love? For those who desire a casual partner? He didn't want to tell you that, not ever. He didn't want to risk you taking it to heart and finding someone who didn't care about you. Not like he cared about you.

He wanted to tell you it was an act of love so deep, that only those who are connected mind and soul would be able to achieve its truest benefits. Perhaps he would, and perhaps you would understand, that no one else was good enough for you. You would know that they could never come close because you were not connected so beautifully.

It pained him to think about this, because he should absolutely not be having a thought like this. He could be expelled from the Jedi order if the council even caught whiff of his thoughts right now.

He couldn't help it, though. The image of you wrapped around him, emitting the sweetest noises while he made the softest, most gentle love to you that anyone had ever before. He couldn't shake it, that perhaps you might one day trust him enough to love you like that, so deeply, and with a purity that was only found in stories.

He was brought out of his thoughts when you stumbled out of the fresher, still laughing, but trying to stop, and huffing silent giggles under your breath. You collapsed on the bed, and he figured that yes, sleep is exactly what he needed to clear his mind. Sleep always refreshed him, and gave him better focus, but it also helped to wipe away bad or unwanted thoughts from the day before.

"Do you need help to calm down?" he sat on the edge of the bed, awaiting an answer, but the most you could do without chuckling was nod very quickly.

He pressed his hand to your head, trying to ease your signature's hyperactivity with the calmness of his own. It took a few seconds for your head to wrap around the serenity you felt, but soon after he was done, you felt yourself be at ease. You were taking deep and steady breaths now.

Obi-Wan tucked the sheets around you before walking around to the other side and slipping in beside you, adjusting his position until he was comfortable with his back facing you. Normally he wouldn't mind being turned around, gazing at your features or playing with your hair until he dozed off, but tonight he only wanted to try and rid himself of the very inappropriate thoughts he was having a small bit earlier.

He closed his eyes, ready to meditate himself to sleep if he needed to, but a shiver went down his spine upon the hand that came into his own strawberry blonde strands.

"Your hair feels softer than it looks," you admitted, not that there was anything wrong with it, but it was probably several years before he last cut it, and the ends must have been needing a trim for a while.

"How does it look?" he suddenly became very self-conscious about it, even if that was not your intention.

"It looks good, just maybe a bit dead on the ends."

The fact that your opinion of his hair was so important to him was a little shocking. Why did he care so much about what you thought? And why of all things, about his hair?

"I suppose I need to find a new style, then," he was tempted to roll over, to play with the lovely locks of your hair, to tell you how lovely it looked when you walked through a windy area. He decided it was best not to do that, especially when he was still trying to quiet other thoughts he had of you.

"Maybe something you haven't done before," you suggested, ready to list a few things off the top of your head.

"What did you have in mind?"

You hummed in consideration before listing something you'd thought about.

"How about you keep it longer on the top, and shorter on the sides and the back?" your hand did a good job of showing him the areas you described as you spoke. He didn't know exactly what it would look like, nor did he care. He would probably do it just because you thought it would look nice. "I think it would go well with your beard, complement it even."

Now he knew, he was cutting his hair. He wanted to look at himself in the mirror every day and be reminded that you thought he looked good. He never cared for his looks. Knew he had them, sure, but never payed much mind to them.

"I'm sure you're right," he reached he hand up, grabbing yours at the side of his head and bringing it around to kiss your palm. He laid it back where he found it, and you continued to shuffle through the soft strands. "Goodnight, little one."

"Night, Obi."

- I rlly like this song!!! at first I was like "ooh, sick ass drum beat" and then I was smacked in the face with the sheer beauty of the vocals and bgm.. it's a very pretty song! makes me sad though

- This song is also very nice, MCR's slower songs make me feel a very specific type of emotional... gerard way's voice is just so so so good and I love the way he sings with emotion in all of the band's songs..... Plus I really like the guitar solo in this :3

- This is actually one of my favourite songs, I love EVERYTHING about it... It just ticks all my boxes,, and it makes me so emotional because of the lyrics and the guitar and UGH VIC FUENTES VOICE.... Very good, me fave song... maybe even my number one....

- ERM... AVril Lavigne is a big celebrity crush of mine she's very pretty and her live singing voice is INSANELY good, unfortunatley idk too many of her songs and only know the popular ones but this song is a classic and it makes me sad(iSEE THE WAY YUR ACTING LIKE YOURE SOMEBODY ELSE GETS ME FRRUSTRAATEDD😫/lyr)

- DID YOU KNOW THAT I DRAW HALF OF MY METTATON DRAWINGS WITH THIS SONG LOOPED IN THE BACKGROUND GAHHAHA I'm so basic but you can't go wrong with the QUEEN(gaga) she's literally perfect

- This song is just 2018 memories to me.. When I was 10 years old Sushush was my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE artist and they did an animatic to this song and I loved it sm.. very nostalgic!

- This song is literally so omg. I dont know if anybody knows this but I was such a big akiangel person and I'd listen to this on loop for MONTHS because I was so obsessed with the ship HELP I love old songs.. plus this one's so catchy, 10/10

- Not many people really know this because I never talk about it but I'm a big J-hiphop fan and I lav home made kazoku... this song reminds me of year 8, itz very groovi

- I rarely listen to songs like this, but it's honestly fire and I listen to it pretty often.. AND UM.. I FOUND IT THRU AN OLD 2019 ANIMATIC MEME TREND HAHHW MAYBE YOUVE SEEN THE VIDS TOO

- Oh this song... I like arctic monkeys but I only know like two songs, but I LOVE how Alex turner doesnt "Americanise" his accent because I always see non american vocalists sing in a different accent than they speak in.. But anyway this song is very good, catchy bassline, catchy song, catchy everything. Def recommend! makes me nostalgic

also i’m sure you’ve thought/posted about this but as i was looking over my ask for grammar i. anyways. thoughts about dream/punz/foosh?

:D !!!! c!drunz is really. rlly good. Like "long time no see buddy" rewired my synapses.

C!Dream/Punz/Foolish would have a really interesting dynamic! I think actually working together, c!foolish and c!Punz would probably kinda hate each other because they're such opposites (positive). Like Dream and Foolish parallel each other even in the ways they differ they're just two sides of the same coin but Punz genuinely believes in The Plan he legit thinks the murder and ultimate control are Cool and Good and actively enables Dream's destructive tendencies (all of these things are things I adore about cpunz he's literally deranged I love him).

At the same time Punz also genuinely cares very deeply about Dream and harbors deep seated rage towards the people who've hurt him (see the stream where he tells purpled about the torture). Which puts Punz and Foolish into a very elite club together called "Being Appalled by the Prison Conditions and Specifically the State Sanctioned Torture" The clubs founder is Techno.

Honestly I think it's the fact they're both disgusted by the torture that would bond them together, again there's like maybe 4 people on the server who treat the torture as the horrific thing it was. A lot, and I mean a lot, of people brush it off.

Still, Foolish is a builder who only strikes back after continuous provocation. Punz is literally a gun for hire. There's some fundamental morals that would clash against each other. BUT at the same time Foolish is very friendly and no one is really off limits from becoming his buddy. He did befriend his murderers after all <3 another element is Sapnap has beef with dream and foolish which is genuinely such a funny connection between them especially since he has no reason to hate foolish he just fucking does 😭

Tl;Dr: Foolish and Punz would have some strong fundamental disagreements about the other but ultimately come together over their collective hatred for how Dream was treated in the prison. Also Foolish is just a goofy silly guy and everyone loves goofy silly guys

kjsdhfgb the fact that I am known as THE palewatcher shipper is kind of a terrifying thought. i am the only one left out of the like three other people that were around when i first got into the ship. please help im so starved for content out here

ANYWAYS, I actually haven't put much thought into headcanons for other ships with Lurien! Mostly just because the way I write him heavily limits the amount of romance options available for him- he's more dedicated to the kingdom than to his romantic life, and he's also so isolated that his options just aren't there in the first place. I've briefly considered fiddling around with his past college crushes in writing exploring his relationship with romance, sex, and companionship, but that would require intentionally making an oc and I'm kind of...not great at that. OCs happen exclusively via spontaneous generation for me and no way else. I've also thought of Lurien/Grimm and Lurien/Soul Master, but neither of those pairings were romantic. The Soul Master one is a hatepairing specifically for an au involving political marriages and sabotage and the other is just for proof that you can throw Grimm together with anyone and it works

I can tell you what I think of the pairings you offered, though! even if i dont rlly have headcanons for them as much as Opinions

Lurien/Lucien (his butler): honestly not really a fan of this one, mostly just because I don't care about his butler outside of the effect he has on Lurien himself. Lucien, as I write him, is an older beetle from a large, lower-ranking aristocratic family, and he was taken on as Lurien's butler specifically because his crippling anxiety about fucking up lead to him fucking up a lot. Lurien sympathized with him deeply and hired him, and their high-strung tendencies balance each other out much like a fainting goat might calm down a racehorse. Lurien doesn't mind if Lucien messes up every once in a while, and Lucien keeps Lurien from working himself to the brink of exhaustion + social cues. They're bros :) making them into a romantic couple would kinda take away from that imo so they just don't work for me

Lurien/Hegemol: This one is new to me, since @vulturereyyy pretty much made it up themselves, but I adore it and have been slorping it up like a bowl of good ramen. I'd suggest asking them for headcanons, because they're the person who started the ship, and they have a lot of excellent takes on how their Lurien and Hegemol balance out each other's respective needs! I haven't had the brainpower to try throwing Fluffien (my Lurien) at Heg yet, but I am rotating the concept in my mind. My Lurien would very much like Hegemol- he's got a thing for men who look very tough and intimidating but are actually very driven and caring, as well as kitted out with a respectable work ethic. I just need to stop being chewed alive by biochem to figure that one out skjdhfgb

stretching your fingers out in front of you and wiggling them to show chopper that you still have motion in that hand, he finally gives you his doctorly stamp of approval, dismissing you from the room with a simple wave. all things considered, it’s a miracle you’re still alive — something that the others remind you of when you finally came to. you’re not normally this reckless, but you reacted faster than logic could reason with you. still, you don’t regret it; saving one of your crew mates is a simple matter to you, after all.

it’s cowardice that prevents him from visiting you right away; he pays nami to give him updates, and while she pockets the money happily, she reminds him that it will be much better if he talks to you personally. but what she doesn’t understand, is that he has too many things he wants to tell you, and knows that if he doesn’t say them properly, your relationship might never bet the same. he paces around his room all night, sleep eluding him, his thoughts obsessively trampling over one another, fighting for dominance.

because you were asleep for a few days, you refuse to keep your eyes shut — besides, you’re not actually tired. tiptoeing through the corridors, you leave the comfort of your room in search of usopp. he’s been avoiding you, even if he doesn’t want to openly admit it. the thought makes you sad, so you decide to talk to him about it, wanting to get to the bottom and make sure that things are alright between you. out of everyone in your crew, you get along with him the most — he’s practically your best friend, so it makes sense that you want to see him, right?

your knocks are soft, but because it’s so quiet on the ship, he hears them loudly. you’re certain you heard him give you the okay to come inside, so you turn the handle and enter without issue, grinning when you see him just as awake as you are. the only difference is that he looks a bit more tired, where you have too much energy.

“where have you been?” you ask as you make yourself comfortable on his bed; you once joked that his mattress was better than yours and that you’d prefer to sleep there than in your room — he stammered and blushed hard enough to make him want to faint. you, meanwhile, found his reaction so cute and amusing that you couldn’t stop the giggles from slipping out of your mouth. teasing him like that is your forte, so you fully expect to tease him now, despite how serious he’s being with you.

usopp turns to face you, standing a few feet away, eyelids lowering as he takes in your appearance. you’re alive and whole, that’s all that matters — so then why does he feel his chest constrict every time he replays that fateful moment where you nearly lost your life to save him (from his own incompetence, nonetheless)? his brows furrow together and the frown he sports seems to be a permanent fixture on his face as he regards you critically.

“why?” he says after a long, drawn out moment. “you could’ve died.” he crosses his arms against his chest, making you sit up on his bed; you’ve never seen him this firm before, it’s almost like he’s a different person.

“well i didn’t, isn’t that all that matters?” you offer as a light rebuttal, hoping to make him laugh again, not liking the way he’s looking at you one bit.

your flippant response flips a switch in his mind, his irritation over the situation bursting out of him without restriction. “that’s not the damn point and you know that.” if he could shake your shoulders he would, but he knows that you should still be resting — besides, he’s not that kind of a brute.

“relax, usopp. it’s really not a big d—”

“it is a big deal. a big fucking deal, in case you didn’t notice.” his voice comes out much louder than he means for it to, and you close your eyes, take a deep breath before trying again.

because you feel like you’re being blamed for something that wasn’t really in your power to stop, you also start to raise your voice. you need him to see reason, to understand that while yes what you did was reckless and yes you could have died, but you didn’t. that’s really all that matters to you. “you’re stuck on the details, and i get that, but it doesn’t matter. i’m alive, and in case you haven’t noticed, you are too dummy.”

letting out a frustrated sigh, usopp runs his hands down his face, the accompanying sigh only fueling your annoyance.

“also, let’s be clear, you’re the only damn person here with an issue, so i’d like you to get over yourself.” you don’t mean to be harsh, but his actions and words are leaving you with uncomfortable feelings that you can’t quite sort through just yet.

“you don’t get it,” he says under his breath before he starts pacing again.

you roll your eyes and hop off of his bed, hands grabbing onto his arm to halt his movements. “so, help me to understand. we’re friends, remember? you can tell me anything.”

the words strike a chord with him, and while he’s still very much upset that you have very little regard for your own safety, he understands that he’s not being exactly fair. usopp swallows hard, conflicted over what to do. if he tells you how he feels, he runs the risk of exposing the most vulnerable part of himself. but if he doesn’t, you might drift apart and he’d hate for that to happen.

“it’s…well, it’s because you’re important.” your brows raise at that, but he clarifies afterwards. “to everyone, i mean. y’know, important part of the crew and stuff.” his excuse is lame, but it’s all he has, all that his mind will let him say, all that his heart will allow him to confess. but he forgets how intuitive you are, and that being friends with you means he can’t exactly lie how he pleases.

“hmm… is that all?” you blink up at him, your stare intense, cheeks flushing and making things more difficult than necessary. your thumb rubs against the skin on his forearm and he almost loses his nerve entirely.

“yes—no. no, that’s not all.” heart pounding faster, he decides to take the plunge and rip the bandaid off quickly. “i… you’re important to me too. i don’t know what i’d do if you died.” he knows he’d never recover from it. despite finding it difficult to look at you, usopp soldiers on, wanting to just get enough off of his chest so you can understand his predicament. “i like you. a lot. more than a lot, maybe. i don’t know.” he’s rambling, but you don’t dislike that about him. and it puts things in perspective for you, but you don’t say anything just yet — which makes him nervous. before he can find a way to weasel out of the hole he’s found himself in, you put him out of his misery.

“well, i’m glad you finally told me. i was wondering how long you’d take.” it’s laughable, really, but you refrain from laughing so you don’t scare him away.

“oh, great,” he groans, glancing at you from underneath his long lashes, “so you already knew.” his mind spirals at that, not letting him have any peace, but you stop him before he goes too far.

“i mean yeah, i knew. everyone sort of does,” you confess, which only makes him shrug out of your grasp so he can flop down on his bed and bury his face into his pillow. his life is over, he’ll never be able to face anyone else again, maybe he’ll just run away and—

“but,” you add, climbing onto the bed with him, draping your limbs over his body lazily, enjoying the warmth radiating off of him, “that doesn’t matter, wanna know why?”

he mumbles something incoherent, so you tug on his ear hard enough to make him turn and face you. “why doesn’t it matter, y/n?” if you’re going to reject him, he hopes you do it as gently as possible, he doubts his heart can take anymore pummeling tonight.

“because you’re important to me and i like you too. like, a lot. maybe more than a lot.” as you repeat his words back to him, he buries his face into the pillow again, unable to tolerate the way his mind is spinning, unable to stop the smile that leaps onto his face. and you, being impossibly you, curl up next to him, also smiling because it seems the cloud over his head has finally disappeared. you spend some time twirling one of his curls around your fingers gently, the sensation putting him to sleep rather quickly. you decide to spend the night there, wanting to hold onto the moment for as long as you can, until the complications of life catches up with you in the morning.

Day 15 - Are there any ships you dislike?

alrighty so. there are only rlly four i ‘dislike’, and the first three… it’s more complicated than anything, it’s not entirely utter pure-n-simple disdain. it’s less about the ships themselves (in two of the cases, anyway) and more about how they seem to be perceived by the fandom + how much they dominate everything. other ships exist, guys! the other characters exist! anyway ill try not to be mean but i am gonna be petty, lol

so for starters, yeah, jack x ianto. i have a very specific view of it, that i do enjoy, but the fandom seems to be doing something else entirely and i've developed some resentment despite myself. especially bc it’s overrated as fuck. don’t get me wrong, it’s iconic, as far as being culturally significant gay rep, but if im honest idk how well they hold up in 2024? i thought their relationship in s1 and s2 of the show was lackluster at best. poorly written bread crumbs. and yeah i know it was big for 2006 but im just personally kind of offended that they could show them sucking face but not show the intricacies of why the hell ianto would fall for a guy who shot his girlfriend down?? like, their relationship is inherently dark and angsty to me and im interested in exploring that, bc the show certainly doesn’t (initially) bother to, and a lot of the fan content i see is either fluffy (??????????), or angsty in a Tragique way, or is just kind of… fetishy and whumpy? people slot them into a Specific Kind of Dynamic and it grosses me tf out. so the fandom culture rubs me wrong, and then it’s just… such a bummer to like owen and tosh and gwen in a fandom that only seems to prioritize this one ship. there are 22k fics in the torchwood ao3 tag, and 13k of them are janto. now, all that being said… they do intrigue me and endear me, just a bit. but it took the audios to make me give a fuck about them, which is sad.

on that same note - i have the same relationship with tosh x owen, but i'm significantly less fond of it, cuz it just plain rubs me wrong. i like them in theory, so i spent months trying to figure out how to make them work and what other people are seeing that they think is so endearing and cute - i just can't find it. owen's treatment of tosh is just about the only thing i can't stand about him. he treats everyone poorly, but most of the rest of the cast defends themself (or even hit back, like ianto and gwen, and thats why i ship them with him! it’s spicy! i love balanced unhealthy dynamics in fiction hfdsjkf i can’t lie) - but tosh just lets him, creating an unhealthy power imbalance where she’s just getting hurt over and over again, and it makes me wanna fucking punch him cuz she does Not deserve that. i want him far away from her lmao. except under certain circumstances, cuz i have written fic about them, and i’ve read like three rlly good ones (and the main link between them is tosh stands up for herself and puts him in his place! i HATE how he walks all over her in canon ughhhhhhhhh). additionally, i do admittedly enjoy the angst of their canon arc. i just think fandom throwing them together and making it cutesy is lazy, uncreative, and an injustice to both characters. i think the SHOW throwing them together was an injustice to both characters, especially tosh’s. they're tragic and compelling, ill give them that, but theyre not sweet, and i don't think they'd be good for each other.

(also worth noting on a show where everyone has tension w each other, imo barrowman & gareth and naoko & burn pull it off the least convincingly and have little to no chemistry. like every other duo just kind of sparks in some way or another, and neither of those duos do. which SUCKS bc they’re the canon ones. but it’s also heavily poor writing like they were doing the best w what they had. grr. like i still dont know what the fuck ianto likes about jack or what tosh likes about owen 😭 that’s ridiculous!)

the other ship i’m petty about is jack x john hart. i just think it’s far too popular for what it is. idek why that is, do we have a substantial amount of buffy fans in the fandom? don’t get me wrong, i liked john in the show + i liked their relationship as well, but i'll always be annoyed when a minor character gets more attention than the fascinating main ones.

and lastly i hate john x ianto, because i respect ianto, lmao. i can’t lie, if he was my fav i’d probs ship it HJFKDSHFK i love putting my favs in awful situations. but as is it just grosses me out. get him outta there!!

tldr: i don’t interact w the john hart side of the fandom, and if a fic is tagged 'jack/ianto tosh/owen gwen/rhys' i probably won’t read it 😷
