Quick short comic. Something thats been eating at me for a while . I was gonna leave it at an actual AU where rock is killed, but it hurt my stomach too much so it was Just A Dream. Too much to think about, though. A) terry did not make it in time to be with rock. Rock was dead before he ever got there. I imagine that would eat at terry for the rest of his life… And B) rock probably was thinking to himself, at least to soothe his nerves, “terry is coming. Terry is going to come get me, its going to be okay.” I imagine rock was cold by the time terry got there .

In terms of it being a dream, though. I imagine terry has a bit of anxiety when it comes to the Death Of A Loved One. Watching Jeff and all that. And, geese! Even though he was getting revenge, its made clear several times that its a pretty sensitive subject for him. I imagine hes very clingy with rock, despite how comfortable he was letting him go with kain. He was “comfortable”, but. Empty nesr syndrome x5000 for sure.

Spare Madara headcanons?

answering this ask a month later SORRY I HOPE YOU SEE MY ANSWER!!! i have so many ahhh okay here are a few, in no particular order:

when he’s in love, he’s surprisingly soft and devoted. the uchiha love wholly, with all their being, and madara is no different. he’s intimidating and blunt and stoic and gruff with everyone except his partner. with you, he is exceedingly tender and indulgent. that doesn’t mean he tolerates disobedience—but he’ll extend your leash if you’re well-behaved ;-)

he’s both protective and possessive. let’s be frank: madara has a superiority complex, and it’s not entirely undeserved. he helped centralize and solidify the power of the uchiha, after all. he takes care of his own, but they are indeed his. no one would dare look at madara’s partner except in awe or admiration, lest they face his wrath. he may be strict and harsh, but no one can look at his beloved with anything other than kindness and humility. is it toxic? perhaps, but as i said above: he loves hard. and if you are his, he is yours.

you wouldn’t expect it, but madara is adept at domestic tasks and would make a great homemaker (if you said this to him, he would laugh in your face, but agree that he is indeed a caretaker). he has a thorough and efficient way to clean the home, he makes delicious meals, and he always knows how to get even the worst stains out of clothes—the clan head must look his best, after all.

madara isn’t one for opulence, but he does enjoy the finer things. when it comes to life’s luxuries, his motto is simple: fewer and better. he buys nice things for the sake of longevity. he doesn’t own much, but what he does own is well-crafted and should last for the foreseeable future. he’s not one for eccentricities; it’s the return on investment that matters most.

okay i’ve been thinking about watching black sails for ages - is it worth a watch??

I definitely think it’s worth a try if you’re interested. The characters are great, the dialogues and pacing are great, it’s really well balanced, everyone’s bi, jack rackham is there and he’s so pathetic but kinda cool and i love him so so much, god i could rant about what i love about the characters for hours but i won’t put you through that - also spoilers lol

Anyways the answer is yes, definitely give it a chance. For me it was really season 2 which drove it home for me like god damn this show is good. So i’d also recommend sticking with it for a bit, cause the first time i watched it i think i barely finished ep1 before deciding it wasn’t for me, then later it ended up being one of my fave shows hah

When writing, did you ever suffer from a fear or underdelivering or misrepresenting a topic? If you did, how did you overcome it? I enjoy writing but rarely bring it to the public out of fear that I am either not doing good enough or badly portraying the themes or aspects of what I write.

Absolutely, and on the one hand it's a very healthy fear - it prompts you to do your research and be thoughtful in how you write. On the other hand you've just got to accept that occasionally it will happen. Inculturation is a hell of a thing, and leaves us all with a thousand kneejerk preconceptions and perceptions of the world, some benign and some downright awful. And sometimes they crop up no matter how thoughtful you try to be. And you gotta understand that when it happens and people call you on it, you just have to take your lumps and learn what you can from it.

It doesn't help, of course, that the words you write are only ever half of what your audience reads: five people reading the same book are reading five different books, each filtering the text through a lifetime of psychology and experience. And they will find themes and problems in there you never even considered, and they will also find resonances and beauty in your work that you could never have foreseen.

At the end of the day, writing stuff thats meaningful to you (hell, writing anything at all) is a messy, bruising business, and anybody who tells you there are simple solutions or clear rules to follow is either lying to you or to themselves.

But you can't let it paralyse you. Its like if you're playing football and you're worried about falling over. It's a reasonable fear and you should do your best to avoid it, but occasionally it's gonna happen, and unless you want to spend the whole game just standing still in a field, you've kinda just got to get on with it. Just try not to be one of those writers who's always taking dives and... screaming for the ref to get a free kick? Hm. That analogy may have gotten away from me. I don't actually know much about football.

Point is, I'm aware that this isn't the most reassuring writing advice I've ever given, but yeah, its a messy, scary business. Just do your best. Be thoughtful. Be kind. And always do your research.

while im at it neopronoun opposition is weird to me as a swedish person.. the whole debate is so anglocentric that they assume every language landed on the same solution they did, to reuse a plural pronoun as a gender neutral one and then they think any other solution is absurd or unheard of. what do you mean you just made another pronoun up you cant do that!! etc

coz its like here in the 2014 the swedish academy accepted 3rd person pronoun "hen" (as opposed to hon/han) like officially into our word list after it gained some popularity in the 2010s. like that is a NEOPRONOUN that someone just Came Up With in like the 60s and then people just started using it and now its just a recognized part of our language. sure we could've also reused our plural pronoun "de/dem" as a gender neutral one but we just made up a new one instead. and to like imply that mainstream use of a neopronoun is just UNHEARD OF and that neopronouns is something the mainstream could NEVER GET USED TO EVER!!! is... your perspective is very limited to the english speaking world is all i can say

imagine you're a guy finally admitting he's queer in his thirties in a macho field of first responders, you got to watch your coworker be an out and proud lesbian at your shitty station but you still don't feel like you can be yourself until you leave behind everyone who knows you for harbour, few years down the line an old coworker calls you to ask you to fly them into a hurricane, you say sure what's the worst that can happen, and maybe you want to repay the woman who showed you what bravery was, and there you meet a golden retriever of a man who is too much to think about in that situation actually, so you don't, but then after it all he puts a hand on your shoulder and smiles at you and maybe..., he calls you a few days later to ask for a tour, asks you out for a beer too but you can't quite tell whether it's platonic or not, you panicked and called him kid it's probably platonic, he shows up to a basketball game and you're pretty sure he's in love with his best friend, you mess with him just a little just for fun, but then things get bad and you go to try to smooth things over, you end up on his doorstep somehow, he's golden in the dim light of his loft and you want to kiss him but you've spent the last two weeks learning how deeply integrated he is into his best friend's family, he's not yours to kiss, except he's making fun of your fake mouth static and he's so close and he's asking to spend time with you and telling you that he wants to get to know you and admitting he wanted your attention, and well you kiss him, and he looks a little like he's just found religion but you make sure it's okay just to be safe and it is, it's okay and god you like him, you really like him, so you ask him on a date and he's breathless in his rush to accept and you really fucking like him, you pick him up at 8 on saturday, you take him to an intimate little italian restaurant, he's tense and looking around like he's waiting for someone to jump out on them and throw a bucket of rainbow glitter over their heads, you tell him about your own journey of self discovery and he listens, takes it a little like an accusation, starts rambling about being an ally, and you really fucking like him it's embarrassing.

what do you mean youre technically a detransitioner cause of terf bullshit?

it's a v long story but i detransitioned for a couple of years when i was 16/17, for multiple reasons but mostly because i fell into the blaire white/kalvin garrah chamber of "you have to be This way to be trans otherwise you're not real".

i was already Deeply insecure about myself and my 'passing' and i was led to believe that i couldn't want to wear makeup or skirts, and i couldn't choose not to have bottom surgery, and i couldn't do anything but bind for 12+ hours a day to the point that my ribcage is still misshapen. basically i thought that if i wasn't suffering enough doing 'feminine' things, i couldn't really be trans, so i should just go back to being a girl and suck it up.

the terf bullshit is because i'd seen a lot of terfs/detransitioners talking about the 'dangers' of testosterone and how it would turn me into a horrible ugly evil monster and how there was nothing worse than wanting to be a man. which combined with 'you need to fully medically transition to be valid at all' creates some very dangerous and upsetting feelings to cope with.

it also came from trying really hard to put myself in a little box before i realised that my sexuality/gender are very fluid and it's FINE for me not to have a label and just do whatever i want. when i was 19 or so i went back to using they/them (and eventually he/him) and changed my name again because even though i like doing 'feminine' things, i don't want to be seen as a woman.

tldr: i was conditioned by transphobic/terf rhetorics to think that i was being trans the 'wrong' way so i couldn't be trans at all, so i believed i must actually be a girl if i still wanted to do 'feminine' things. nowadays i am a transmasc who does feminine things because i don't give two shits about what any transmed prick thinks of me anymore.
