You're a reasonably informed person on the internet. You've experienced things like no longer being able to get files off an old storage device, media you've downloaded suddenly going poof, sites and forums with troves full of people's thoughts and ideas vanishing forever. You've heard of cybercrime. You've read articles about lost media. You have at least a basic understanding that digital data is vulnerable, is what I'm saying. I'm guessing that you're also aware that history is, you know... important? And that it's an ongoing study, requiring ... data about how people live? And that it's not just about stanning celebrities that happen to be dead? Congratulations, you are significantly better-informed than the British government! So they're currently like "Oh hai can we destroy all these historical documents pls? To save money? Because we'll digitise them first so it's fine! That'll be easy, cheap and reliable -- right? These wills from the 1850s will totally be fine for another 170 years as a PNG or whatever, yeah? We didn't need to do an impact assesment about this because it's clearly win-win! We'd keep the physical wills of Famous People™ though because Famous People™ actually matter, unlike you plebs. We don't think there are any equalities implications about this, either! Also the only examples of Famous People™ we can think of are all white and rich, only one is a woman and she got famous because of the guy she married. Kisses!"
Yes, this is the same Government that's like "Oh no removing a statue of slave trader is erasing history :(" You have, however, until 23 February 2024 to politely inquire of them what the fuck they are smoking. And they will have to publish a summary of the responses they receive. And it will look kind of bad if the feedback is well-argued, informative and overwhelmingly negative and they go ahead and do it anyway. I currently edit documents including responses to consultations like (but significantly less insane) than this one. Responses do actually matter. I would particularly encourage British people/people based in the UK to do this, but as far as I can see it doesn't say you have to be either. If you are, say, a historian or an archivist, or someone who specialises in digital data do say so and draw on your expertise in your answers. This isn't a question of filling out a form. You have to manually compose an email answering the 12 questions in the consultation paper at the link above. I'll put my own answers under the fold. Note -- I never know if I'm being too rude in these sorts of things. You probably shouldn't be ruder than I have been.
Please do not copy and paste any of this: that would defeat the purpose. This isn't a petition, they need to see a range of individual responses. But it may give you a jumping-off point.
Question 1: Should the current law providing for the inspection of wills be preserved?
Yes. Our ability to understand our shared past is a fundamental aspect of our heritage. It is not possible for any authority to know in advance what future insights they are supporting or impeding by their treatment of material evidence. Safeguarding the historical record for future generations should be considered an extremely important duty.
Question 2: Are there any reforms you would suggest to the current law enabling wills to be inspected?
No.
Question 3: Are there any reasons why the High Court should store original paper will documents on a permanent basis, as opposed to just retaining a digitised copy of that material?
Yes. I am amazed that the recent cyber attack on the British Library, which has effectively paralysed it completely, not been sufficient to answer this question for you.  I also refer you to the fate of the Domesday Project. Digital storage is useful and can help more people access information; however, it is also inherently fragile. Malice, accident, or eventual inevitable obsolescence not merely might occur, but absolutely should be expected. It is ludicrously naive and reflects a truly unpardonable ignorance to assume that information preserved only in digital form is somehow inviolable and safe, or that a physical document once digitised, never need be digitised again..At absolute minimum, it should be understood as certain that at least some of any digital-only archive will eventually be permanently lost. It is not remotely implausible that all of it would be. Preserving the physical documents provides a crucial failsafe. It also allows any errors in reproduction -- also inevitable-- to be, eventually, seen and corrected. Note that maintaining, upgrading and replacing digital infrastructure is not free, easy or reliable. Over the long term, risks to the data concerned can only accumulate.
"Unlike the methods for preserving analog documents that have been honed over millennia, there is no deep precedence to look to regarding the management of digital records. As such, the processing, long-term storage, and distribution potential of archival digital data are highly unresolved issues. [..] the more digital data is migrated, translated, and re-compressed into new formats, the more room there is for information to be lost, be it at the microbit-level of preservation. Any failure to contend with the instability of digital storage mediums, hardware obsolescence, and software obsolescence thus meets a terminal end—the definitive loss of information. The common belief that digital data is safe so long as it is backed up according to the 3-2-1 rule (3 copies on 2 different formats with 1 copy saved off site) belies the fact that it is fundamentally unclear how long digital information can or will remain intact. What is certain is that its unique vulnerabilities do become more pertinent with age."  -- James Boyda, On Loss in the 21st Century: Digital Decay and the Archive, Introduction.
Question 4: Do you agree that after a certain time original paper documents (from 1858 onwards) may be destroyed (other than for famous individuals)? Are there any alternatives, involving the public or private sector, you can suggest to their being destroyed?
Absolutely not. And I would have hoped we were past the "great man" theory of history. Firstly, you do not know which figures will still be considered "famous" in the future and which currently obscure individuals may deserve and eventually receive greater attention. I note that of the three figures you mention here as notable enough to have their wills preserved, all are white, the majority are male (the one woman having achieved fame through marriage) and all were wealthy at the time of their death. Any such approach will certainly cull evidence of the lives of women, people of colour and the poor from the historical record, and send a clear message about whose lives you consider worth remembering.
Secondly, the famous and successsful are only a small part of our history. Understanding the realities that shaped our past and continue to mould our present requires evidence of the lives of so-called "ordinary people"!
Did you even speak to any historians before coming up with this idea?
Entrusting the documents to the private sector would be similarly disastrous. What happens when a private company goes bust or decides that preserving this material is no longer profitable? What reasonable person, confronted with our crumbling privatised water infrastructure, would willingly consign any part of our heritage to a similar fate?
Question 5: Do you agree that there is equivalence between paper and digital copies of wills so that the ECA 2000 can be used?
No. And it raises serious questions about the skill and knowledge base within HMCTS and the government that the very basic concepts of data loss and the digital dark age appear to be unknown to you. I also refer you to the Domesday Project.
Question 6: Are there any other matters directly related to the retention of digital or paper wills that are not covered by the proposed exercise of the powers in the ECA 2000 that you consider are necessary?
Destroying the physical documents will always be an unforgivable dereliction of legal and moral duty.
Question 7: If the Government pursues preserving permanently only a digital copy of a will document, should it seek to reform the primary legislation by introducing a Bill or do so under the ECA 2000?
Destroying the physical documents will always be an unforgivable dereliction of legal and moral duty.
Question 8: If the Government moves to digital only copies of original will documents, what do you think the retention period for the original paper wills should be? Please give reasons and state what you believe the minimum retention period should be and whether you consider the Government’s suggestion of 25 years to be reasonable.
There is no good version of this plan. The physical documents should be preserved.
Question 9: Do you agree with the principle that wills of famous people should be preserved in the original paper form for historic interest?
This question betrays deep ignorance of what "historic interest" actually is. The study of history is not simply glorified celebrity gossip. If anything, the physical wills of currently famous people could be considered more expendable as it is likely that their contents are so widely diffused as to be relatively "safe", whereas the wills of so-called "ordinary people" will, especially in aggregate, provide insights that have not yet been explored.
Question 10: Do you have any initial suggestions on the criteria which should be adopted for identifying famous/historic figures whose original paper will document should be preserved permanently?
Abandon this entire lamentable plan. As previously discussed, you do not and cannot know who will be considered "famous" in the future, and fame is a profoundly flawed criterion of historical significance.
Question 11: Do you agree that the Probate Registries should only permanently retain wills and codicils from the documents submitted in support of a probate application? Please explain, if setting out the case for retention of any other documents.
No, all the documents should be preserved indefinitely.
Question 12: Do you agree that we have correctly identified the range and extent of the equalities impacts under each of these proposals set out in this consultation? Please give reasons and supply evidence of further equalities impacts as appropriate.
No. You appear to have neglected equalities impacts entirely. As discussed, in your drive to prioritise "famous people", your plan will certainly prioritise the white, wealthy and mostly the male, as your "Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin and Princess Diana" examples amply indicate. This plan will create a two-tier system where evidence of the lives of the privileged is carefully preserved while information regarding people of colour, women, the working class and other disadvantaged groups is disproportionately abandoned to digital decay and eventual loss. Current and future historians from, or specialising in the history of minority groups will be especially impoverished by this.

Literally all the shit rich people have turned into luxuries are stuff many disabled people need (or would need to manage their pain but can't afford it)
Comfy ergonomic chairs
Indoor pool/hot tub (therapy bath)
Massages on the regular
Aides (rich people call them servants)
Yea even a cook who makes you special meals (perfect for people with special dietary needs and for those with severe allergies, as well as people who are in too much pain or are otherwise unable to cook)
Elevators in your house (even small ones just for groceries, my rich aunt has one in her beach house!)
Rich people don't buy these for fun I hope but custom powerchairs are obscenely expensive. It pisses me off when I see another person invent "the wheelchair of the future!" Which then is literally never fucking used because none of us can afford it (and insurance definitely won't pay)
Indoor gyms or even personal exercise equipment. Hard to go out to a gym somewhere else when you're disabled, especially if you are immunocompromised
Outdoor spaces to relax in. It's literally vital for your mental health to at least see the outdoors. I'd rather be bedridden in a sunroom (with retractable blinds) than a shitty apartment with one tiny window.
There's even freaking health retreats these people go to regularly. There's a fibromyalgia retreat in new york where they basically take care of all your needs while trying different treatments and seeing which ones help. Either it's heaven or making money off of scamming desperate people who are able to scrape the money together to go.
Private planes, which I honestly think shouldn't exist, but one that specifically catered to people with disabilities (spaces for wheelchairs/other mobility devices, accessible handicapped airplane bathroom, anxiety reducing tools, trained medical personnel and care team)
Also customized cars, except instead of making gas guzzling racecars to joyride in while everyone else is trying to get to work, cars with electric ramps, lifts, doors, cars customized for someone with limb differences. Those cars where you can roll your wheelchair right up to the wheel. Fuck even self driving cars once they are no longer deathtraps.
Skincare products that are safe for sensitive skin like eczema but also actually work
Nice-looking clothes customized to fit limb differences, access points, look good in wheelchairs, colostomy bags, etc. while also being comfortable and not fast fashion.
Dental care!!! What the fuck why is this shit so expensive!! I don't want my teeth to fall out!! (Disabled people usually need more dental care bc we have a harder time keeping up maintenance)
Rich people go and splurge on all of these even though they don't need them while calling disabled people selfish for begging their insurance for even one of these.

Okay all my thoughts because some people have been saying that not supporting this change is not supporting artist and creators and as an artist fuck that.
1. Audiences owe you nothing. You have to convince them to engage with your creation not the other way around. This is something both the nonprofit theatre I work with recognizes and huge companies realize. It's just part of life. There are so many talented people in the world making amazing art, videos, music, writings, and on and on, and there's only so much time in the day. I'm not saying you shouldn't know your worth, just that being flippant about how little you care about those who can't pay isn't a good move. On that note...
2. PR is everything. If you haven't made a visible effort to push patreon, channel memberships or other avenues of making money, don't be suprised that your creation that was previously accessible to those without extra cash and to those who can't support foreign subscriptions due either to conversions or because it simply doesn't work, being made private isn't popular. There's a big leap from "We want to have more artistic control" to "We can't afford to make our content accessible to most of our audience," and people are smart enough to see this. You either have to make budget cuts or give into sponsors. This isn't unique to Watcher, it's part of literally every production from broadway, to Hollywood, to YouTube. Unless you can fund it yourself or get viewers to pay(which given how many are already strapped for cash...) that's life.
Not to mention they simply do not have enough followers to make the switch to a paid only site(dropping the first epsiode only on YouTube isn't going to draw people in, they're just going to say "oh why start if I'm not going to see the rest" and not watch) especially not one that is buggy and a security risk. Even if the switch had been supported its not going to end well. The only reason services like nebula and dropout work is because of the large amount of series and creators and the fact those creators still are partly on YouTube so new people are drawn in.
3. As for the price, 6 dollars a month is a not a good starting price for only their content and that's as someone who pays for nebula. I'd be paying the same amount for a fraction of the access to others work. Actually it'd be twice as much. And before someone says "it's only a coffee-" that's for you. Not everyone has your lifestyle. And with every other patreon and subscription service that says the same thing, it all adds up and I simply don't think 60 dollars for 48 videos a year on a subscription basis where you don't get to keep the videos if your situation changes, some of which don't appeal to every viewer is a good move. If you were able to buy physical copies of your favorite series they've made that'd be different, but that's not what this is.
4. I do believe that the employees deserve a livable wage. I also did not hire them. It is not on the viewers that they hired more people than they could afford to. They can charge that much if they want to to try and balance this out. They also shouldn't be suprised if not many can or will sign up. They also don't have to be based in L.A. L.A has ridiculous costs associated with it, and quite honestly it doesn't really add much to the content. I'm not saying they need to move to the middle of nowhere Kansas. Simply that living and basing your studio in a super expensive city and then being suprised money is tight is just weird.
5. Something that occurs to me is that they might get more views if their playlists were better set up. Only some series are given playlists. It'd be easier to find all of the series and binge them if they didn't just show off their more popular shows. Honestly the only draw the streaming site has to me is that the series are actually labeled well.
Do I think the weird ass energy towards Steven is necessary? No. He's not the only one at the company and they're all adults. I actually liked grocery run and homemade, and like to see them back. The parascoial attachment to Ryan and Shane is annoying in people's criticisms, but that doesn't make them completely wrong. If you're going to brand yourself as the anti capalist underdogs you can't get away with being dismissive of your poorer fans. The dissonance is what is causing this backlash and makes you look like hypocrites. I definitely think Steven is turning into the fall guy which is fucked up, his statement and the fact dish granted is one of those shows that make people uncomfortable about wealth flexs doesn't help matters.

what about a poly lando and max for a 💰 fic instead :)
thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Baby—”
“Don’t you dare try to baby me, Lando Norris. This is fucking ridiculous and you both know it.”
Max sighed as he leaned back in his seat, the sun beating down on the three of you as you lounged on his yacht. “I told you she wouldn’t accept it.”
You spun around to face the boy, your eyes narrowing as you tried to focus on his smug face rather than his bare chest on display. “You bought a fucking island. Do not act like I am the one being ridiculous here.”
“It seems like a good investment,” Max stated simply.
“It’s a remote island only we can access,” you retorted, your hands on your hips as you stared the boy down. “How is this a good investment?”
“It’s a good investment for us,” Max answered as he reached for you, his hands on the back of your thighs as he moved you to stand between his spread legs. “Good for holidays. Good for privacy. Good for fucking you both on the beach—”
“Shut up,” you grumbled, biting back your smile as you playfully smacked his shoulder. Though, the boy only grinned widely as he pressed a kiss to your hip. “But seriously, this is far too much. Even for both of you.”
“You liked it when the dad did it in those vampire movies,” Lando grumbled as he slid into the spot behind you, his chest pressed against your back as he lazily wrapped his arms around your middle. He leaned his chin on your shoulder, looking at you with puppy dog eyes you knew were your weakness. “Why is it so bad if we do it?”
“When Carlisle Cullen did it, it was different,” you said as you leaned back into his embrace, smiling a little when Lando pressed a kiss under your jaw. “That was a honeymoon present. This is just a ‘we are two idiots who make millions and throw our money at anything that means easy sex’ present.”
Max snorted. “But just think about all the fun places we could have sex without having to worry about cameras in our faces.”
“Cameras that we didn’t set up, obviously,” Lando added with a cheeky grin.
“You two really shouldn't have access to the money you do,” you grumbled, shaking your head as you gave into the kisses Lando was pressing along your neck and the pecks Max left along your stomach.
“We would spend those millions on you any day of the week if it meant seeing you happy,” Max answered honestly, and something in your chest tightened.
“Fine,” you sighed, not even bothering to hide your smile. “A remote island just for us could be nice.”
“Yes!” Lando cheered, squeezing your hips. “I knew she would give in eventually!”
Max rolled his eyes. “Yeah, after you bribed her.”
Lando scoffed. “You bribed her too!”
“Yeah but,” Max shrugged. “I was right before you were so—”
“Oh my god, both of you shut up or no island at all.”

I really wish people would stop bringing up potential birth defects or genetic disorders as a reason that engaging in incest is morally wrong. It often winds up verging incredibly and uncomfortably close to eugenics rhetoric, for one thing--and for another, the actual risks are MUCH less than people tend to assume, even in close-blood incestuous pairings, unless there have been multiple consecutive generations of intermarrying. But the idea that 'birth defects' or 'genetic disorders' is a reason for a relationship to be immoral to engage in is basically tantamount to saying that disabled people whose disabilities are due to genetics shouldn't have children, and that doing so (or even just engaging in consensual sexual relationships) is immoral, because there's a risk of them passing on those traits.
Not to mention that there are other risk factors (a person over the age of 35 getting pregnant dramatically increases the chances of their child being born with Down's Syndrom, for example), and yet we don't say that it's morally wrong for someone to keep a pregnancy if they are old enough that it's considered At Risk.
It just genuinely does not matter if someone's offspring may be at risk for certain illnesses/disabilities/whatever. That's entirely up to the parents to worry about. The ONLY moral issue with incest is when it involves abuse, which is WHY cousin incest is such a nonissue, barring other circumstances. The absence of abuse means that incest is only 'icky' to some people, not inherently morally wrong.
--
Since I'm old as fuck, I had to do IVF, and hot damn were those eggs bad. A pile of money for genetic testing can solve plenty of that though.
I think people don't realize just how gross they're being because they don't think of historical population bottlenecks and the kinds of genocide and massive oppression that cause them. Not only is it obnoxious to reduce relationships to baby making, but calling people genetically unfit because of inbreeding is not something that hits groups equally or neutrally. There are people with zero recent cousin marriages or whatever in the family who are nonetheless at extreme danger for passing along deadly genetic illnesses that kill in childhood because of historical forces on their ethnic group. We don't get a choice about what's hiding in our DNA, good or bad.
People with their panties in a bunch over genetic illnesses should advocate for more access to genetic testing, which can be financially out of reach for many, and spend a lot less time worrying what kind of sex others are having.

making their own subscription streaming service was incredibly stupid, however i do think the people calling those working at watcher rich simply have 0 idea just how fucking EXPENSIVE it is to not just live in LA, but rent out a separate filming space, not even including the equipment and all the people they need to pay.
and i don't understand the take that they shouldn't have so many employees anyways, because i thought we all agreed that more employees = not overworking a small team = better? this decision is stupid and there are very clear arguments against it, but this isn't one of them.
to be as charitable as i can be, in their minds, they're probably trying to make this money not just because youtube doesn't pay well and is entirely unreliable, among other complaints, but because they don't want to fire anyone because those are their friends, and putting your friends out of a job just sucks for everyone involved. even if everyone acts like mature proffessional adults about it, it's not a fun process. they want to avoid that. they SHOULD just accept the situation for what it is, but it's understandable imo why they are trying so hard to avoid it.
they want to make the stuff they want to make, they want to be paid decently for it, they want to make sure their friends are paid decently and have stable income. none of that is inherently bad. this is just the entirely wrong way to go about it. i sincerely think it's not necessarily about greed, more that on paper it sounded far more practical than it actually is, and if they'd discussed it with anyone outside the team they would have seen how dumb it is. the fact is, it doesn't matter how much a subscription costs, there are infinitely more people unwilling to pay a fucking monthly fee than there are people willing to pay even $1 to access shit they already had free access to.
also, i see yall saying incredibly racist shit about Steven in response to this, and it's entirely blatant and disgusting. you do not need to play into anti-asian stereotypes when criticizing someone. this is undeniably a shitty move, there's 0 reason to not hold them all equally accountable when it's clear they all came to a consensus on this. you are, of course, being the easiest on Shane, the white guy of the team. cut that out.

time for my monthly mp3 player propaganda post!
yall. don't fucking stream music off of youtube or spotify. they pay their creators shit. the most generous estimate i could find was artists being paid $1 for every 200 streams (0.5¢ per stream), and unless you're listening to songs on an album thousands times in total, it helps tremendously more to just. buy their albums or subscribe to a patreon-like service for them
mp3 players are laughably inexpensive (you can get a decent one with bluetooth for like $40-50 and you can get away with even less if you forego some features), many of them are drag-and-drop, no ads, decent enough sound quality for the average person, unlimited skips, track selection, regular play and shuffle, playlists, being able to shut off your screen, and more importantly, ALL OF THIS IS AVAILABLE WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION. i've always been an avid hater of subscription models. there are some things where it's understandable, but you shouldn't lose access to basic QOL features just because you can't or won't fork over $10-15 a month.
"b-b-but $50 is so expensive!" WRONG. $50 (which is more than i've EVER spend on a single mp3 player) is the equivalent to 5 months on spotify premium without discounts. if you can afford that, it's worth investing into a device that can last you literal years if you get a good one and take good care of it
"but i don't wanna carry around another device!" fair enough, but these things are small enough to fit in tiny pockets (mine fits snugly in the watch pocket of my jeans) and are typically light enough to not be burdensome. if you can carry around your phone, you can carry around an mp3 player
"what if people think i'm weird for having outdated technology" let them. it's worth it in my opinion if it means i get to listen to music ad-free. the most I've ever gotten was "wooooah bro's got the dinosaur tech" and i just thought that was funny personally
"but what if the artist collapses without a constant stream of money!!! i'm not supporting the artist!!!!!" companies try to pay as little as they can get away with to artists. most of that money goes to the CEO and other higher-ups.
"but piracy is bad!" Piracy is a Crime. However, downloading youtube videos/audio for your own PERSONAL, NON-COMMERCIAL USE and NOT REDISTRIBUTING THEM is legal (generally, in the US, check your laws, i am not a lawyer, not legal advice, blah blah blah). besides, i never said you had to pirate your music. in fact, i encourage you to buy the albums of and support your favourite artists in other ways. some artists might even provide links for people to download their songs for free in high quality anyway
not gonna link products just in case someone thinks i'm a shill. but literally just look up "mp3 player" on your search engine or shopping site of choice and find something that doesn't look like it'll fall apart if you breathe on it too hard
seriously guys. if you listen to music more than like a few hours a week, and you don't get all of your music from livestreams or radios (although mine can connect to AM/FM radio), consider investing in an mp3 player. i tried out using one regularly in fall of 2021, and I haven't looked back. don't let companies drain subscription money from you

Yeah I'm not done yet.
The thing I keep coming back to is that as much as I'm down to nit-pick things like how characters are written and plot details (and boy are there a whole infestation of nits to pick), what it boils down to is that the basic premise here shouldn't even be happening.
I get they're doing a Thing with Bruce and the after effects of Failsafe and Zur and Insomnia so sure I guess it makes sense to have him acting totally unreasonably. I'm not saying it's a plotline I'm thrilled with, but whatever. This is about everyone else.
You have half a dozen people routinely patrolling in Gotham, who've been doing it for years, who know the city and how it works, who have at least two people who are particularly inclined towards collecting and parsing data for patterns for crime fighting purposes, and none of you noticed anything amiss until Selina called and was like "Hey did you notice my neat new plan I've been doing?"
To that point, in a room full of literal canonical geniuses not a single person has thought to ask any of a dozen very practical questions that occurred to me, a non-genius reader, roughly 10 seconds after reading what The Plan was. Things like, oh, I don't know
How is this going to be a sustainable long-term effort?
For example, what happens when Gotham's wealthiest realize what you're doing and dramatically beef up their security (with tech or with actual people), making it much harder and more dangerous?
Like iirc you, Selina, have definitely had some real dicey situations as a result of your profession, and you're a lot more experienced than these people.
(Hey speaking of which isn't there a whole secret society of Gotham's wealthiest and most powerful who have access to nearly unkillable assassins? Who keeps coming back even though they keep being taken down? You think any of these people might belong to that?)
What happens when the rich folks get pissed and sic the heavily militarized GCPD on you? Don't act like they won't, I'm sure someone's squirreled away stuff from that whole Fear State fiasco.
For that matter, what happens when the costumed villainry figure out who swiped all their henchpeople and decide to object to it, presumably violently?
How many people are we talking here anyway that you're training? How many ultra-wealthy people live in Gotham? How many easily stealable things do they have sitting around to take? (As opposed to, like, other non-liquid fake assets like stocks)
How are you fencing all this anyway? Isn't that a great way to get caught? Or is everyone just stealing cash? (Or did nobody think about the part between "got the valuable thing" and "have usable money from it"?)
How on god's green earth did you ever assume this was going to end in anything other than violence?
Like of course one of your guys got killed. It doesn't matter that you told them no violence, even if they fully buy into that it only takes one panicked reaction when someone's home who shouldn't be, on either side, and there you go.
Look I get what they're trying to do. It's supposed to be a big moral quandary about whether it's right to allow some crime if it decreases other crime, the struggle between Batman being unreasonably violent and unwilling to listen and this new plan of Selina's. First of all that's a weird debate to have when everyone having it is technically a criminal to some degree. And second of all, it doesn't matter, this isn't about the morality, this is about how this plan is fucking dumb and was destined to fall apart even if Batman was still asleep and the fact that any of you are buying it just means there's a gas leak in Gotham somewhere.

The Catpeople Laboratory AU (full v3 cast, saiouma)
Tumblr media
First shared in The Saiouma Pit discord server, parts said by others start with their names
Hina: So who started this project?
Dra: I wanna make a haha funny and say Tsumugi but
returntozero: No way Togami Corp was interested in monopolizing the Catboy/girl/Nyan trade
ofc they're experimenting on prisoners first [replying to Ryoma being suggested as the first person the experiment is tried on]
idk, maybe that's too dark for a silly idea, but like, Togami corp fucking with genetics? that's not going to be very moral anyway
so yeah, exploiting prison labor
what if Kokichi was in the batch of the first testing with Ryoma? Like, he was a notorious thief, pissed off some people he shouldn't and cops framed him for murder to give him the sentence those people wanted him to get and that's how he ended up in the same situation
because the project only takes people off death-row at the time, in later testing, when those seem to be successful they'll be maybe hiring people for more testing and there has to be a control group that lives alongside them in the same conditions without getting modified, right?
for comparison, seeing what's because of the environment and what's because of the modifications, Shuichi could be in that group
unless you want them all to get modified, then I guess the control group can be strangers that don't interact with them, it's fun if it's all 16 of them, but also catboy x human…
Dra: How do they all get involved lmao
some of them are criminals (first phase), some of them are there for the money and some for the experiment's sake (second phase)
Iruma signed herself and Akamatsu up, because she wants to fund some project of her own
Korekiyo is probably in the criminal group
Angie could be any of those
Himiko wants to be a catgirl, Tenko wants to be catgirls with Himiko (that ship doesn't sail in my world, but canonically, the one-sided thing has to be there at least for a bit at the start, eventually tho, Tenko needs to meet someone who will be able to match her energy AND tell her she's got to be more normal, my choice for that is either Maki or Kaede. I do not think Himiko has interest in romance, but that's my hc, no hate, just how I see things)
Kiibo wanted to be included, they let him wear cat ears and hang out with the participants of the experiment
Kaito is in the group that just wants money (he needs it for that astronaut education)
Tsumugi is there for the experiment's sake, she believes it'll make the world a better place, actually, she's the one that convinced Gonta to join, he wants to help too
Maki must have been in the criminal group too, cause no way in hell she would choose it
Kirumi must have some ulterior motives, maybe she had to disappear because the rumor of teenage Prime Minister got a bit too loud, maybe she fucked up somehow, somewhere, but a new & low-profile identity will do her good or maybe she's here because the government is invested in the project, but why would it be?
Rantaro actually personally knows Togami, since they're both rich boys, but since Togamis have flexible moral spines they have access to some resources he wouldn't even know of. So, having something of a frenemy-like relationship, Amami asks him for help searching for his sisters and he's like "okay, but do this very stupid thing to entertain me in exchange"
lastly, Shuichi is there, because he can't let a mystery go and he has a fucking gut feeling that Kokichi was framed. unjust sentence? not on his watch (so yeah, he tries to get close to Kokichi to learn his side of the story. and they're cats)
Dra: What do you think they'd need cat people for?
High demand = good business. The end product is selling the modifier to the people, so the masses can become catpeople Or selling the cats as exotic pets/ worse if you want it to be darker

Gently, very gently, Eddie runs his hand over your back, his fingers following the natural lines of your skin. He tries his best to not wake you up, watching as the muscles react to his touch, moving your wings ever so slightly.
As his hand wanders further down, you let out a soft purring sound. Eddie smiles and whispers, "You like that, huh?"
He starts pressing kisses to your shoulder and you can't keep the soft giggle in. Eddie smiles, carefully grips your waist, pressing his thumb into the flesh.
"I should repay you," he whispers, "for what you did last night..."
"It's okay," you sigh softly, enjoying his touch. Where you're from, tenderness like this is very short in supply.
Being completely honest, Eddie shouldn't even touch you like this. You shouldn't be in bed with him and you shouldn't have sucked him off either. But it feels nice to be this close to someone.
It's probably a body-thing; being a demon in this world is a new experience to all of your dimension. Perhaps when other demons answer to new summons you'll be able to talk to someone like you about this.
Eddie grins softly, "When I summoned a demon I didn't think I'd get one like you."
You turn around, sitting up before you lie on your back so you don't squish or otherwise hurt your wings. Frowning up at him, you respond, "What did you think?"
"That it wouldn't work," Eddie chuckles and places his hand on your chest. "Why did it work?"
"Well," you think for a moment, "we know when we're being summoned, but until a few months ago, this world was inaccessible for us."
You shrug, "I guess that Vecna-guy your friends keep talking about accidentally opened up a gateway and even though he's dealt with, the gateway is still open."
"So, you knew that I did a summoning ritual?" Eddie moves his thumb over your skin, looking down as he tries to understand this.
You nod, "Yeah, I knew you summoned one of ours. We all did, since you didn't really specify whose services you tried to secure. Usually nobody cares for summonings from a world we can't access, but I've always wanted to know this one."
"That means," Eddie frowns, "you held onto the summon for a month? Why did you come, after all that time?"
"Because you were dying," you state simply, as if it's obvious. To your kind it may not be, but you expected Eddie to know.
Instead, he keeps inquiring, "You didn't even know me. Why would that matter?" What Eddie truly wonders is, Why would I matter?
You giggle, "Stupid human. You were my way into this world and from the moment I entered your body I was tethered to you. Now I don't have the footing to stay here, you humans are weirdly obsessed with that money-stuff."
"Oh," Eddie mumbles, sitting up. Of course you're just with him because he summoned you. Because you don't have another option.
To reach your wing around Eddie's back, you sit up, too. Gently nudging his cheek with its claw, you make him turn his head to look into your direction. He's not hiding his emotional response to the new knowledge.
"When I saved your life," you keep your voice gentle, "my response to your summon was fulfilled. I could've moved on to any other person." You place your hand on his cheek and gently run your thumb over his cheekbone.
"I wanted to stay with you," you smile as you nudge his nose with your own. "I've had so many people scream at me, but you didn't. You summoned a demon and you weren't scared of what you got."
Eddie chuckles dryly, "Why would I be scared of you? You're, like, real hot..."
"Let's see," you press a kiss on his cheek, "the first time you saw me it was your mirage with my distinctive features. Usually, people get scared. I don't know how it is with humans, but that's been my experience so far."
He looks you up and down and smiles, "Distinctive features, huh? You mean the horns? Or the wings?"
"Them and the claws and the fangs," you grin widely, showing the fangs off. "You know, it was very hard to not permanently change your body when you were almost dead. I could've just made it mine and I probably would've been able to heal it so it's of good use to me..."
With your face already so close, all Eddie has to do is to angle his head. Hesitantly, he presses his lips to yours, unsure if you're feeling it, too. Unsure if last night was a one time thing.
You smile and reciprocate the kiss, your hand wandering to the back of his neck. Pulling Eddie's head closer, tangling your fingers in his hair. He smirks and, minding your wings, pushes you back down onto the mattress. Finding his place between your legs, he slowly grinds his hips down, his kiss nearly bruising.
Bless his stupid little heart, pumping all that blood down to his dick, making him hard and ready for you. You bite his lip, enough to draw blood, gaining a soft grunt from him. Running your tongue over the cut you make Eddie hiss at the pain. Though, judging by the way he bucks his hips, he seems to like it.
"Stupid human," you repeat, breathing heavily. Eddie huffs a laughs and trails kisses down your neck, gently sucking on the skin at your throat. "You really make me feel empty," you huff, "I didn't even know bodies could feel that way..."
"Bodies can feel a lot of different things," Eddie purrs. "I'd like to show you all of them... Starting with this..." He runs his hand down your body, gently pushing it under the band of your underwear.
The moment his hand wraps around your dick, you close your eyes, a soft moan falling from your pretty lips. He starts to move his hand, slowly up and down, teasing you, so to say. You whimper softly, letting your body's instincts take over.
"There you go," Eddie praises. He sits back on his knees and kisses down your belly, carefully removing your underwear.
You giggle, "Why don't you get rid of your own clothes and come back down here? Let's celebrate this body~"
Eddie laughs with your suggestion, but pulls his shirt off over his head. He throws it aside, rubbing his palm over your happy trail. You smile at the feeling, almost literally purring. “The rest, too,” you hum as you gently pull on the band of his boxer shorts.
He gets up and grins, “Wanna see it all, huh?” He shoves his underwear off while you’re sitting up and as he straightens out, you press your lips to his again.
Pulling him onto the bed, you turn the two of you around, intensifying the kiss as you climb onto his lap. With your dicks throbbing, Eddie grabs your waist and pulls you closer. He starts pushing his hips up and he whines when nothing comes from it. You giggle and sit down on his thighs, brushing your hand through his hair.
“So,” you grin, “how does this work, pretty boy? How do we, what is it called again? Make love?”
Eddie feels a hot shot surge from his chest down to his cock. “Fuck,” he curses, “‘make love’? Really? You wanna kill me or something?”
You tilt your head to the side, a confused look on your face. “Why would I want to kill you? You’re no good to me with a dead body.”
He huffs, “I’ll explain later. How you wanna do this?” Eddie sighs, “I mean, you okay taking me? Getting, uhm… Getting fucked?” Nerves running wild, he looks up at you.
Cheeks flushed from your body’s arousal, eyes wide and curious. Somehow, your body seems to know what it means, moving ever so slightly closer to his dick. “I,” you look down at your body, your own cock thick and throbbing with need. The same need is what you can feel in your hole; you always wondered what that one was for. Perhaps procreation?
“Yeah,” you finally nod, “I think I want that. My body feels very ready for whatever ‘getting fucked’ means. Which, weirdly enough, this body seems to know.”
Eddie huffs a laugh, “Alright, there’s lube and a condom in the night stand,” he points at it, "why don't you get them for us?"
As you lean down and over to get what Eddie told you to, he spits into his hand and reaches between the two of you. He puts his hand around both dicks, gently spreading the saliva and starting to pump his hand.
You moan and lie your head on his shoulder. “Fuck,” you echo his cursing, “that feels good. Oh, that’s really good, Eddie.”
Hearing you say his name, all desperate and needy for him, Eddie grunts. “Lube,” he nearly growls, “now.”
“So commanding,” you pant, “are you like that with all people?” You open the nightstand, "Or is this all for me?" Pulling out the container filled with lube.
Grinning at your victory, you show Eddie the container, wave it in front of his face. “Now what, big guy?”
Eddie smirks and kisses you, taking his hand from in between your bodies and gently running his hands down your waist and hips. He squeezes your ass, quietly praising the sounds coming from your mouth. He opens the container and dips two of his fingers into the lube, coating them generously.
Once he’s sure you’re relaxed and ready, Eddie carefully rubs his fingers over the rim of your hole. You gasp, your whole body responding to his touch.
“That’s it,” Eddie coos as he works you open. With your head on his shoulder, you breathe heavily, your hips pushing back against his fingers. Feeling your breath against his skin, hearing your little, very pathetic moans. “You feeling ready?”
You nod, pre-cum leaking from the tip of your cock, smearing onto Eddie's, mixing with his pre-cum. "Yes," you sigh, "very ready."
Eddie doesn't ask again, moving his hands from your ass to your thighs, squeezing gently. He coats his hand in lube again, this time smearing it all over his dick, pumping it to get it nice and wet for you.
Whining at the view, you dig your claws into his chest. "Eddie," you whine, "already waited long enough! Please~"
"So impatient," Eddie grins, watching your dick twitch with anticipation. "Alright, move up, pretty boy."
You comply, urging your body up, pressing your knees into the mattress. Even your wings flatter, your whole body waiting for him to make you feel even better than he already has.
Lining his dick up with your hole, Eddie gently presses his hand down on your lower back. "Sit up, sweetheart," he coos, "gotta sink down on my dick, okay? Take it as much as you can without it hurting and take as much time as you need."
You steady yourself with your palms on his chest, but lean down to kiss him before you sit all the way up. It takes Eddie by surprise, but he kisses you back before he watches you sink down on his cock.
When you feel him pressing past the rim of your hole, your head falls back and your lips part, eyes watching Eddie even though you don't mean to. You let out a breathy moan, your tail wrapping around Eddie's thigh and your wings barely holding up -a telltale sign that you're relaxed and calm.
Eddie dies a little inside, lust taking over most of his motivation. Clearly you're very turned on and clearly, his body likes what you're doing. His breath grows heavy, his hand squeezes your thigh and when he wets his lips the cut in his lip burns.
He doesn't care about the pain, he doesn't care that your claws break the skin of his chest. You're too fucking hot for him to care. Who thought fucking a demon would be something Eddie would be into?
The deeper you take him in, the more your body changes. The tip of your tongue splits again, taking on the demon you are instead of the humanoid body this is supposed to be. Your horns grow, too, just a little, your tail gaining strength.
Most importantly though, your hole starts to turn wet. It's not blood, it's simply what your body thinks it's supposed to do. Eddie curses, not so under his breath, gripping your hips tightly.
"Fuck-" His chest heaves with every breath, "Are you- Are you getting wet? Fuck, that's- Shit-"
He presses his head into the pillow, his back arches and when he finally bottoms out, feeling your balls against his skin, Eddie nearly loses it.
"Jesus Christ," he clenches his jaw, staring down at your dick. "Are you like, a succubus or something? Fuck, I'm gonna cum-"
You clench around him and Eddie moans loudly in response. "Please," he starts to beg, "please, I don't wanna cum yet! I don't- I don't want this to be over, please!"
Trying to make this as comfortable for Eddie as possible, you try to relax your body. You lift your claws off his chest, long tongue carefully licking up the blood.
"I'm not a succubus," you explain with a soft voice. "Succubi have vulvas and vaginas, the ones with penises are incubi. Which I'm also not, they're sex demons."
Eddie huffs, "You-You tryin' to tell me they feel even b-better?" He's fighting his orgasm so hard and the way you look down at him, concerned and confused, doesn't make it any easier.
"I don't know," you shrug, "I've never tried sex before. That's what we're doing right now, though? That's the right word for what's happening, no?"
"It is," Eddie quickly assures, his thumbs digging into your flesh.
You smile, "I bet I could help you with that. Make you, uh... Not cum? Is that how humans phrase it?"
"I-I guess," he huffs, "how? How would you help?"
You grin and move your tail from around his thigh to around the base of his cock. You can feel him throb and he moans at the sensation, but when you tighten your tail's hold, Eddie lets out a relieved breath.
"That better?" You coo, leaning down to kiss him. "I did study some of your anatomy when you weren't aware of me. Glad it's coming in handy."
Eddie grabs you by your neck and crashes his lips against yours in an aggressive, bruising kiss. "You're such a fucking--" He doesn't end the sentence, unsure what to call you. Demon? Well, that'd just be accurate.
"Liar?" You suggest, giggling. "Creep? I did 'creep on you', as others would say it. Watching you jerk yourself off in the shower..."
His cheeks turn pink and you grin. "So easily manipulated... That's so human of you, baby."
Not wanting to go down without a fight, Eddie thrusts his hips up in a stark motion. Your eyes rip wide open, a loud but short moan forcing its way out of your throat.
"Awww," Eddie copies your attitude, "that's so demon of you, baby."
Your cheeks flush and you give him a soft apologetic kiss. "Got the message," you mumble, "I'll try to keep it down."
"Thank you," Eddie huffs, kissing your cheek. "You wanna do this or you wanna keep talking?"
You lick the cut in his lip and, very carefully, slip it into his mouth, placing your lips on his like you saw in Eddie's magazines. Once again he reciprocates the kiss, playing with your tongue as he starts to move his hips.
The cautious movements make you huff and whine, feeling good but not quite as good as you know he can make you feel. You sit back up, massaging his chest with your palms as you try to get accustomed to the new position.
Once you're ready, you start moving on your own, up and down and up and down, opposite to the rhythm Eddie set. His breath falls short, little whimpers falling from his lips.
Meanwhile you get to feel it all, the pulsing, the thickness, getting filled and being wanted. You slip your wings under Eddie and, despite his confusion, pull him up, pressing his chest against yours.
With him this close, you wrap your arms around him, pressing your fangs into his neck and moaning against his skin. Eddie moans at the pain, slides his arms around your waist and starts pushing your rhythm. Faster and harder, until he's moaning into your shoulder, the room filled with sounds of wet squelching and skin slapping against skin.
"Eddie," you groan, pulling his head back and pressing your bloody lips against his.
He slows down, focuses on your kiss. It's his turn to bite your lip and you clench around him, starting to take on the speed and force he left off when you kissed him.
Happily letting you take the lead, Eddie leans down to kiss your chest. When you let spit drip down it's mixed with blood, but lands on the head of your cock. Eddie understands, kisses you again, forcing his tongue into your mouth and using his hand to spread your spit over your dick.
Through your riding him, you fuck yourself into his hand, making the most pathetic sounds Eddie ever heard. Your tail loosens, its tip moving to play with Eddie's balls instead.
He whines, "Not yet, fuck, please!" But you don't want to hear his pleads anymore, you want him to cum. "Don't want it to end," Eddie begs and you moan against his lips.
"Please," it's your turn to beg, "I want you to fill me up, Eddie. I want to feel you cum."
He whimpers and starts kissing you more intensely. He gives into the knot tightening in his abdomen, white hotness surging through his body as he comes undone. He groans very loudly into the kiss -into your mouth- and feeling the hot thick splurges of cum shoot into your hole, you moan with him.
"Yes," you encourages breathlessly, "fuck, yes, just like that, Eddie!" You kiss him, sloppily, open-mouthed, "Shit, thank you. Oh, fuck, thank you!"
Your thighs squeeze around Eddie's hips as he comes down from his high, but you don't have enough yet. He didn't want it to end so why should it have to?

One of my favorite undervalued Gilmore Girls episodes is the season 1 episode Emily In Wonderland, where Rory takes Emily around Stars Hollow and Emily is actually having a great time until Rory takes her to the shack where she lived when she was a child and we can see what a disheveled mess it was, but Rory is oblivious and talks about it like this existence was a fairy tale, because that's the way Lorelai taught her to see it. We can see how Lorelai shielded Rory from how dire their circumstances actually were, and yet we can see the reality of it and how hurt Emily is that Lorelai chose to live like that.
The modern fandom does not get this. Emily is always a villain, everything she does is irredeemable, and Lorelai's actions are always right because she's the main character and Gilmore Girls is a feminist fairy tale and therefore Lorelai can never be wrong.
But objectively? It's a bad idea to take your child out of a safe and secure home and run away to live in a shack and work as a maid. The fact that Rory didn't understand that it was a struggle doesn't mean it was a great idea. Lorelai grew up with what she thought were too many rules, so she over-corrected and never established boundaries, and thus as an adult Rory doesn't have much of an ability to function as a grown-up and because of the money she has access to, doesn't need to work and often chooses not to. And of course, the same thing happens: she ends up pregnant by an unavailable man, likely destined to repeat her mother's life patterns.
The thing about all of that is that I think the whole book idea was supposed to echo back to Emily In Wonderland. Lorelai did not want Rory to write about that situation in detail, did not want to outline how risky and unwise Lorelai's teen mom behavior actually was. It's okay if Rory writes about how she experienced it...because as far as Rory is concerned, even at 32, it's still a fairy tale. But Lorelai doesn't want her to write about what it was actually like. Because similar to Jess's childhood with Liz, or even some other aspects of Luke's past such as caring for a dying parent alone, is beyond the capabilities of this show to accurately depict. It wasn't a fairy tale, it was a risky gamble that worked out fabulously for Lorelai in the end but probably wasn't much fun for quite a while. Rory is still immune to much of the reality of it, and doesn't understand this.
It does make me feel more compassion for Lorelai, even if the AYITL narrative is screaming that Lorelai needs to get over it and let Rory dissect her secrets for public consumption because Rory would rather do that instead of get a job or work towards one. There's a stage you get to as an adult when you realize your childhood was more fucked up than you realized at the time, and it shouldn't take writing a book to get there. ASP is reluctant to fill in the gaps on that line of logic, so we're just supposed to interpret Lorelai telling Rory no as unjust, even though Lorelai said she was okay with Rory just writing her interpretation of events.

Cohost Criticism
The thing about cohost is that you have to walk on eggshells if you wanna talk about cohost, let alone criticize cohost. Here are two bits of criticism about cohost from me, one posted on cohost another posted on Twitter.
Criticism of cohost, on cohost
Transparency is not bad, I don’t think. But it’s incredibly clear that it’s been used to frame ASSC and cohost as some plucky little co-op that could, so that when criticism of cohost happens it’s immediately framed as a personal attack on Staff. Almost every single time criticism of cohost has happened on here, big posts go around talking about how they’re just 4 people and how could you ever suggest improvements, don’t you know you’ll KILL the site, criticizing the site is like yelling at the McDonald’s cashier, etc etc etc. I’ve said this all before, and like… idk, sucks that it took two different incredibly vitriolic discourses around accessibility to finally get people on staff to be like “please don’t fight on our behalf.” It’s also pick and choose, right? When criticism comes up, it’s the realities and transparency of financials and how it’s just 4 people and on and on, but like… hey, do we know how they got the money? What’s the relationship there? How were they able to just have what seems to be a friend loan for a few years with no delivered product/service? What happened to all the site ideas before cohost? It feels incredibly selective, and the selection is geared towards a parasocial relationship. I mean… people on bluesky are opening up about fallout from they criticizing cohost in private, so it’s not like this culture comes from nowhere.
I’ll quote something I read earlier that I agree with. No links, don’t wanna blow up the spot.
I think they were being deliberately dishonest about being a for profit LLC. I think they know that makes them sound corporate and that's why they call themselves a co-op and a non-profit/not-for-profit (both legal designations they do not meet). I think this is fully an image thing, they want to be the cool leftist co-op and not the company run by former Big Tech employees.
I think they have cultivated a parasocial relationship with their members. I am undecided on whether this was deliberate or if they just don't see the problem with it. They are far too personal about what they post and they explicitly want people to see them as friends, going so far as to saying you need to trust that they're doing things in good faith because they're your friends. Your users don't need to hear about which members of staff are in a polycule together. Your users don't need to hear that bug reports make you feel like a failure. When you make policy choices that cause the site to get into massive fights over them, you shouldn't be posting little jokes about the discourse. Trying to shame users for criticizing a moderation decision you made for not trusting you is absurd, they AREN'T your friends and can only trust you based on the actions they see from you, and if they don't trust you based on that you don't get to chastise them for it. Your hundreds of thousands of users are not your friends. But it was effective, because anyone with any criticism is shouted down by people who seriously think the staff are their friends.
Also, this bit:
To come in and say "we have no idea what we're doing but WE'LL always support you", while sites like Switter had to close down due to various government and corporate pressures, is just...fuck you honestly. If you want the techbro mindset here it is. "Nobody else is doing this because their Morals are bad and our Morals are good!" People who actually have done the hard work of trying to make safe spaces for sex workers failed, but no, I'm sure you all will do great. If they ever ship tipping (at this point I can't see it happening before they fold but let's pretend) they're going to eventually get cut off from their payment processors when it's being used for mostly porn and they're going to learn why everyone else had to quit and then they'll have to pull an excuse out of their ass for why all their grandstanding in the past just fell apart. It disgusts me to pretend like some big ally to sex workers then do this little research into what it actually takes to support them.
This bit gets me the most because, like… they’re remaking Project Wonderful and people are calling it revolutionary. We had creative/user-supported ads for years on sites like Questionable Content. This isn’t new! We’re getting the thing that the old internet had! It’s like calling neocities or SpaceHey or wikidot revolutionary.
Idk how to end this. I’ve been yelling about the culture here for what feels like ages now. It feels like I’m yelling into a void.

Criticism of cohost, on Twitter
Cohost post about cohost that’s too spicy for cohost: I don’t know that I’d call the LLC that is marketing itself as a non-profit that only keeps up with its promised monthly financial updates when they want more cash from users “transparent”, but that’s just me.
When the whole of the financial history is laid out and there are some big, glaring questions (who did you get this money from? Why can you not reach them? What happened to the promised features? why are user ads now, suddenly, a good thing?) it doesn’t feel transparent.
If yall haven’t been delivering features, or hitting targets, and acting like making a usable dark mode for your site was some impossible task, why did you give yourselves raises?
It feels like the “transparency” only exists to further a parasocial relationships in your favor. The important questions are left alone, but just enough is given to cultivate an active userbase that wants to fight any and all criticism on your behalf.
It happens in the comments of their posts. I saw someone ask completely sensible questions about the finances, on the finances post, and were immediately called a middle manager.
It happens on the site. People got real mad that someone would dare give links and document discourse on cohost. It wasn’t about the rancid vibes of the post*, it was about the act of linking to cohost from off-site period.
It happens off-site. People made pillowfort accounts to attack the person mentioned before. On bluesky someone is getting attacked for explaining their horrible experience with the founders.
This doesn’t feel like transparency, because the end goal here isn’t a “not-for-profit” that finally made a good site and made it last. It’s about a LLC asking you for your money when times are tough and discouraging criticism anywhere.
Another post about cohost that’s too spicy for cohost: Just because your friends run an LLC doesn’t mean your friend’s LLC shouldn’t be criticized as a business. Actively discouraging criticism cause your friends run the LLC has actively made cohost’s vibes rancid.

Do u give money to people on tumblr?
Short answer, no. I don't reblog those posts, either. Majority of them are scammers, bonus scamster points if they use their race/gender as emotional manipulation. (Rant incoming cause this pissed me off, not you, but it had me thinking about a lot of shit). I'm sorry but I could never be on Tumblr begging for money, that's embarrassing, no offense. I commend anyone who's shameless enough to do that cause in all seriousness, couldn't be me. I feel like there are just some things you shouldn't do & asking strangers, half of which are minors, to give you their hard earned money in trade for nothing is one of them. The victim mentality of "let me spam my followers with a bunch of sob story updates about my life's issues & guilt trip them into giving me cash", no. Leave them alone. That shit's annoying, inconsiderate & entitled. & it's always the same fucking people holding their hand out. The people you're begging for cash are more than likely struggling too & need theirs. Tumblr is the worst place to ask for assistance. If you need money then you should seek a financial aid program, or I don't know, log the fuck out & get a job like everyone else? That's what people who need money do. There's no excuse, I said this before & I'll say it again, making money nowadays is easier than it has ever been cause of access to technology. Everything is virtual. You can work from home. There are people making millions eating for a fucking living on YouTube. If you're broke atp it's cause you either make excuses for why you can't work or you're just lazy. It's a choice. You don't even need to physically go out & find a real job. Make something. Perform a service. Everyone has something they can offer. Don't sit there & expect people to pay you for nothing. I hate lazy ass people who wallow in self pity, make excuses & don't contribute anything to society & simply exist to leech off others. It's parasitic & pathetic. You "can't work", but you can play around on social media every day? Hmm. You deserve to live in poverty then. You're not special. You better sell some p-ssy, d!ck or c*ke. If you're bussing it open to everyone anyway you might as well get paid for it, in the words of my wife, "make it count". Seriously, I don't respect those people. Tumblr beggars are the equivalent of irl bums who loiter at gas stations harassing passersby for change. It's fucking irritating & unfair that we live in a world where weak people are rewarded, coddled, catered to & given breaks for doing nothing. "Oh well, you know, John can't work, he's dealing with a breakup that has him in a deep depression. I just- I don't know if his mental health will allow him to work." Bro, I sympathize but at the end of the day, screw John. He has no real problems. There are people with cancer & aids right now who are working. People with no limbs are working. He can work, he's physically able to, but ultimately he won't cause he's a mentally weak man with no drive. Let's just call it what it is. I've been homeless & depressed before, I dug myself out of that hole WITH NO HELP, if people can bounce back from homelessness, addiction, abusive relationships & rebuild their lives, if people with deformities can work there's no excuse for why these lazy asses are living in houses, have food & water, with themselves being the only person they have to take care of but they're on here begging us & living off the gov't. That shit IS sad. & I get so heated over this topic cause the bastards who log on & beg aren't going to log off fucking Tumblr & make adjustments so they can afford to live, they're not going to or offer an exchange, they'll continue to do this shit. In the comfort of their home. Meanwhile, the ones they beg have to scrounge. So no motherfucker, I can't help you spend my money. Follower counts mean nothing here cause nobody gets paid on this dead app, this ain't YouTube. If you have hella followers but you still can't eat or pay your bills it's a sign your priorities are fucked. Up. Your followers owe you nothing. Have a little pride & self respect.

I know this probably won't get much attention, but I still feel the need to talk about the situation in my country, Panama
Tumblr media
there has been discussions regarding a mining contract for a Canadian (and I think also Korean?) mining company, to mine for copper
do be aware, they have been mining for about a year even though there was no signed contract
while I have not being able to read the contract out of sheer anxiety, several lawyers have said it was made favoring the mining company. by a lot, resembling the Hay-Bunau-Varilla contract, which was signed before we had a proper republic, allowed the construction of the canal and a zone exclusive for it
a zone panamanians had VERY LIMITED ACCESS TO until after the Marthyrs of January 9, 1964. twenty two persons died during the event, including A BABY.
there's the fear of the new mining zone become a second Zona del Canal, as well as the worry for the environmental impact (which is greater than most minesas this is an open-air mine) and health of the surrounding population
so far..
1 journalist lost an eye
1 person died today (24.10.23) after being wounded on the liver area by lead bullets
the antimotines are shooting lead bullets, rubber bullets and expired tear gas at random. they even threw tear gas bombs at a HOSPITAL. people are defending themselves with rocks or just anything in hand
Tumblr media
the bus system is basically paused, getting anywhere has become so difficult people have had to walk on the bridge across the canal to get to their homes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the metro was closed today, station by station at the end of the work day. people struggled to get home. a big portion of the population relies on public transport to move around, and it was taken away from us
Tumblr media
protestors have been burning old car tires too. unsure of why but it blocks the streets for HOURS. it's chaos, it's anxiety inducing. I know there's worse happening in the world but I'm SO TIRED ALREADY. there are no medications in public institutions, no reactives to run life-determining blood tests, work?? there's barely any people have resorted to theif and robbery to survive, crime rates are HIGH, infrastructure is falling apart and yet the goverment has the DESCARO to say that they have done a lot, that after 3 fucking years they are fixing the streets, 4 years for finishing the (currently) last line 1-metro station, they want to expand the genetics program yet reduce the budget for it. they have reduced the budget of almost every single institution minus the politician's ones.
they dare to say they have been listening to the population's worries even though we have MONTHS saying NO to the mining company. MONTH. THIS SHOULD HAVE GONE TO A REFERENDUM AND IT HAS NOT. THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT WITHING HOURS OF IT'S LAST REVISION.
Tumblr media
there are memes of the situation, this is just one of them regarding the last speech of the president
people are TIRED
this isn't only about the mining, it's about the shit hole this goverment is making. about the state of the country and how those in power are concentrating on making more money
I am AFRAID of another dictatorship, because guess what? this is the EXACT SAME political party that was in power during the Dictatorship of Noriega.
I can't go to work in-person for who knows how long, because the country has become utterly innacessible. the price of food has risen in just days
I'm scared
we shouldn't have to resort to protests to be listened to. the public healthcare system shouldn't be falling apart. people should have access to transport. we shouldn't need to fear for our lives.

God so actually to try and get my mind off of things, another idea I had for Rich Yandere Douchebag who maybe for convenience i will call Elliot from now on? I like to go back and forth with setting and tone between him secretly being nobility or him just being a rich but powerful guy, and I think Reader would be so absolutely fucked if he was a tech-based CEO. You think he's in his office trading stocks or whatever the fuck it is he does but he's just watching security cameras of you. There are times when he's not even at home and he's in his corporate office and he can just, pull out his phone and access that security feed, making sure his little bunny is safe and sound
I can only imagine if uh, if Reader had issues similar to mine, where you spend way too much time on your phone, not just playing games or anything, but willingly torturing yourself by, say, exposing yourself to the constant negative news cycle, engaging with politics talk in the comments section, arguing with trolls and stressing yourself out. You're beefing with some conservative in a comments section and suddenly??? The app crashes??? And won't open again??? Which is weird because Elliot gave you this phone so it should work perfectly? And the app refuses to open until later that day and by that time you've calmed down and was able to move on to something else
I can only IMAGINE if Reader began getting harassed or pressured into a conversation or stayed in a conversation that was extremely uncomfortable (you know like uh what I did the other day 💀) and Elliot is just watching from his end FREAKING OUT like WHAT ARE YOU DOING STOP or if this complete stranger began to be sexual with you and you won't stand your ground. He'll shut off your phone remotely if he has to. It's to protect you. He loves you but you're a little silly and let your emotions get too caught up in your head sometimes. He's helping you because he knows what's best for you, obviously :)
I can only imagine it coming to a head when he begins to not only disapprove of your constantly online habits, but also becoming dangerously possessive of you and jealous of anyone you interacted with. Oh, so he's your BOYFRIEND but you're posting things to your "secret" blog that he doesn't even know about? Can you EVEN IMAGINE if he goes to spy on you and your newest blog post is a thread with your followers about how you're wondering if you should break up with him and every single reply is basically going "holy fuck do you really not see all these red flags, throw the whole man away"
You're just minding your business at his home, and you're so upset you're shaking as you furiously type out a reply to someone who said the most ignorant pathetic shit you've ever read, and Elliot suddenly barges in, storms up to you, and snatches your phone right out of your hand as he begins to scold you. Why are you doing this to yourself? These people and their problems don't matter! Why are you watching videos about problems in other countries that don't affect you? Who cares what that politician said about 'women shouldn't have rights'? Who cares if an online personality you like is being bullied for a stupid reason? Why do you care about anything that doesn't directly involve you or him?
And like he vaguely has a point but he says it in such a douchebag "other people are insignificant, you Aren't Like Them, the things you care about are stupid" kind of way that you just. He can see the instant offense in your expression the moment he starts speaking, the anger, and you just blow up on him, just listing things off about him, pointing out that of course he doesn't care, he barely has empathy for other people at all, he thinks he's so much better than everyone because of his success and money, he probably funds some of the politicians who are literally ruining people's lives because they then pass laws that benefit him personally and financially, and as if he isn't infuriated by your rebellion enough, you hit him with: "I don't even want to be with you anymore, you fucking stuck-up asshole!"
Elliot instantly smashes your phone into the marble floor, expression like stone as you begin to try and back away from him, eyes flitting to the door, like you're about to try and run away from him. And he's having none of it, blocking the path out into the hallway, trapping you as you begin to shake and cry because oh my god is he going to kill you???
And he takes your reaction and your tears and your fear as just a sign that you're just too stressed out, that these vermin are ruining you. His poor lovely partner is just having a rough time and it's got you so constantly on edge that you're even acting out on him, and he KNOWS you love him! you're just finding too many bad influences, too many bad actors trying to manipulate you, he's afraid. Well that all stops now. You already live in his house, so it isn't hard at all for him to keep you there, is it? Can't have you running off to get into any more trouble, to buy another phone, to hang out with those awful plebian "friends" of yours who are telling you to leave him.
He's going to get you all better, he promises. You just need some time to unplug and be with him. Only him. Constantly, only with him. After all, he should be spending lots of time with his future spouse, after all 🥰 all you need to do is spend some time with him and you'll forget all about everything else...
