10 BL BOYS I WANT CARNALLY Redo
I have a few people tag me @firstkanaphans @negrowhat in this and when I originally did it I only put Phaya from the sign but I started thinking and I said yeah I got more so here are the others.
1. Phaya from the sign
Idk if it’s the way that Billy plays this character or what but Phaya has my heart. He’s just so annoyingly cute and playful but so smart and curious and he does not like to be ignored and so passionate, it’s endearing really idk.
Tumblr media
2. Mork from Last Twilight
This man is so warm and kind and loving and caring and loyal and and and I could go on and and on I love him so much. Like that man went to jail because his friend decided to put his woodpecker into another birds tree and he fought for his ex girlfriend trust. I’m sorry that man is so fucking warm.
Tumblr media
3. King from Bed Friend
I love this man and his big brown cow eyes so much. He’s just a walking green flag and he so sexy. He is just thoughtful, caring, loving, warm. I want him on every level. Love him
Tumblr media
4. Akk from Enchantè
He a little slow on the uptake but that man is so romantic and kind. And truly was a green flag. And truly just wanted the best for Theo even if he had to put himself on the back burner.
Tumblr media
5. Jeng from Step by Step
JENG WAS A MAN (no pun intended) That man was a CEO of his own business while trying to manage another business that he hated. He was self sacrificing and so kind. I love that tired his best to change when it came to Pat. He made some questionable decisions but I believe he did that because he thought that was best for him. He was loving and caring a I count him as a green flag.
Tumblr media
6. Mark from Love Mechanics
That man went through so much for love. But I love how he was true to himself. I love how self aware he was and I love how he stood up for himself. Mark knew who he was and also knew what he wanted but he also knew that he was fucked when it came to Vee. I would have treated him right.
Tumblr media
7. Ayan from The Eclipse
That man was a menace. But I love how fiercely loyal he was. I love how kind and thoughtful and loving this man was. He just wanted Justice ( and for the school to burn to ashes and for ashes to go the dumpster never to be seen again) for his uncle, he was a heartbroken boy who has lost his one close person in his life and was spinning around lost like a broken compass but he found his north in Akk and I love that for him.
Tumblr media
8. Phayu from Love in the Air
Is this really a surprise to anybody. I mean come on now. That man knew how to stand on business. He knew what he wanted and made sure he got it. Made sure the person he wanted was also on their business. He wanted them to be successful together and love a man that is ambitious. Very loyal and protective but was also completely a simp.
Tumblr media
9. Boeing from Only Friends
This man was wicked for no other reason then the fact that he could be. I was fascinated. Came to ruin lives and almost succeeded to if it hadn’t been for RayMew and them being like ahh back the fuck up off my man. I still think RaySandBoeing threesome should have happen. I would have like to see Boeing and Top kiss but also BoeingTopBoston would have been interesting to see. And I think Boston would have loved it there to be honest but we talking about Boeing here. Anyway that man should have had more screen time so he could fuck up more people lives.
Tumblr media
10. Kinn from KinnPorsche
Listen Linda, that man was most definitely not a green flag and a very dark pink flag but I don’t think he was a red flag. He was just dumb. He’s complicated. But he was kind and thoughtful in his own way. And he tired to be fair to people. But Porsche was on that man mind 25/8 and it’s hard to think when someone is occupying your mind like that. But is he very loyal to a man that did not deserve it. He was caring for his people and was a big simp and I love that for him.

i think we need some more of billy being a simp for the reader. like he’s still a dick to everyone else but when it comes to the reader he’s a sweet blushy simp mess and everyone is just 👁👄👁🧍”huh?”
a/n: fr this might be my worst fic yet but i- i... oh well, i hope its okay ily anon forgive me pls i promise i tried- but i also was tired for part of it (i like to sit in my bed while half asleep and write at like 4 am sometimes) but here you go! I also kept it maybe slightly lowkey? Cause I do think Billy would be sweeter more so in private; but he can pull the charm and sweetness out in public too yk.
Length: 1.5k
Pairing: Billy x reader
Warnings: none really; slight mention of maybe apathy towards life on Billy's end, fluff if that's a warning lmao, OOC Billy probably? also Jason Carver ew
Tumblr media
Oh, he's a Simp - B.H.
The majority of Hawkins High school population believed they had a good read of Billy Hargrove's character. He was the same with everyone; tough and a bit of a jerk- no sometimes just a straight-up asshole. Be it the tone of his voice, the way he wouldn't take people seriously, or the mischievous lit in his voice when he spoke to someone sometimes, Billy Hargrove was bad. And pretty much anyone around him who befriended him were like sheep; craving someone to follow.
But then there was you.
You were the object of his desires. The one who had taken up most of his thoughts- the good ones- and made him into some weirdly shapeable putty.
Not that shapeable though; no one could truly dictate Billy Hargrove. He wouldn't let them.
Billy leaned against the school steps railings; Tommy H and Carol stood near him with Jason Carver. All people that Billy could've really cared less about. He made 'friends' with them, but not really. When it came down to it, they just followed. And it felt nice to have that sort of power, the type where if he so much as gave Tommy a certain look, the freckled bully would heel like a dog and wait.
Stupid. He hated them.
Especially Jason Carver. And he knew that too.
The only meaningful bond he'd made since coming to Hawkins was you. So, when he saw you exit the school he visibly perked up, akin to a puppy seeing his family after they'd been out all day.
It was a bizarre sight for anyone to see. Billy Hargrove, looking at someone with such clear difference to how he looked at anyone else.
"Hey," Billy calls out to you, making you whip your head to look at him leaning on the railings.
He sounds like he usually does. Indifferent. Indifferent to people around him, to what they wanted or thought. He didn't care for them and they cared for him but only in the way of popularity. If Billy Hargrove were to die tomorrow, the only loss for these people would be someone to follow. No one would mourn him.
Maybe you would. If he did die, he hoped at least you'd mourn him.
You pivot to walk towards him, a smile dawning on your features. One that makes him almost smile in return. To everyone else, it looks like maybe his face twitched a bit, maybe a reaction to the sun or a thought he'd had. But his eyes are soft.
When you reach him, your messenger bag strap clutched in your hands, you give him a questioning look, but still smiling. Choosing to ignore the friends Billy kept around him; they'd never been nice people. And you avoided them as best you could. But you didn't avoid Billy even when he was with them.
Billy Hargrove was special. He was rough around the edges; someone who could be cruel and harsh- he could make people cower but also swoon.
He didn't scare you. He had yet to ever do a thing to you that suggested you should be scared. He had intimidated you before, how could he not? The way Billy carried himself demanded that he be respected, that he was a possible force to be reckoned with. Sometimes he still intimidated you, specifically when he was surrounded by his 'friends.'
"You need a ride home doll?"
He pulls his arm out from behind him and pulls you over to the railings, arm around your shoulder and neck almost engulfing you with his large leather jacket-clad arm.
His body was warm against yours as he held you close to his side. It was like you were made to fit in that spot.
Billy gave you special attention and affection he didn't dare offer to anyone else in the entire world. It felt nice, to have someone like Billy be this way with you.
Your relationship was a mystery to everyone around you, and even to yourself if you were being completely honest.
You weren't dating per se; you'd never spoken about being a couple and whatnot, and you weren't sure if you'd been on an actual date with him before. Did the times he took you to the diner after school count? Or the times he would sit in his car during the lunch period while you sat outside eating a sandwich count? No. No, you were pretty sure they didn't.
Whatever your relationship was with him as of right now was something that lingered in limbo; it teetered between the unknown and something very obvious and clear-cut.
Billy was always one to make it known where he stood with people. Be it with words, or with his actions (aggressive or not, depending.)
Yet with you, he found himself keeping the status of your relationship covered in shadow. It was safe. Not defining it because defining it was committing.
And commitment was scary. He wouldn't admit it aloud, but he didn't know how to handle something like that. No one had ever been committed to him, so he was never committed to anyone.
He knew how he felt for you, and it was something he had never felt for anyone before. He had been in relationships before, Billy Hargrove was no stranger to relationships and being with someone else in an intimate manner. However, what he felt for you was something more than a lust that he could deal with in a night.
Was it love? He didn't know. He just knew that you were different. And he was different with you.
"It's okay," you respond to his offer, looking at him through your lashes, his cologne invading your senses when you turned your head to look up at him, "I actually was going to be staying after school to work on a project in the library... I just needed to use the payphone to call home and let my family know."
The library and Billy Hargrove didn't mix. But you and him, they mixed. They mixed well.
Carol and Tommy shared a look at the way Billy was interacting with you.
It was as if no one else existed around him when you had walked out the school doors. It was as if the bad mood he had been in (Tommy couldn't figure out why, but it was mainly Jason's fault, that's all he knew- anytime he'd try to broach the topic, Billy's claws threatened to peak out) had dissipated, or at least it had simmered at the sight of you. And his shoulder muscles seemed to ease a fraction, and his face, while it still looked indifferent, had warmed if only slightly.
It was small. But it was obvious to them. And everyone else.
"I'll stick around with you," he said after he took a deep breath in, getting ready to push himself off of his position against the railing, "can't have you sitting like a loser in the library on your own. Or trying to walk home in the dark."
"My dad could come get me you know," you roll your eyes but secretly you're happy, happy that he wants to stay with you. The library was boring, and albeit Billy wouldn't dare step foot inside the library on any occasion whatsoever, you made it different.
Bearable even.
He also knew he could convince you to leave within the first hour of being there. So it wasn't all bad.
"Scared of driving with me?"
"Sure," you jokingly say, pulling away slowly, "one day when you crash that pretty car cause you're driving way too fast it won't be funny anymore."
"Yeah, 'cause that's gonna happen."
It could, it was just a matter of if he cared if it did or not. That car was precious, the person inside? He wasn't so sure.
"Fine, you can stay," you were glad he was staying, you enjoyed being near this man, "but you can't talk or distract me."
"Never."
"Seriously Hargrove?" Jason Carver opens his big mouth. One that Billy could slap if he so desired, "You're going to the library, with this..."
"Go ahead," Billy had immediately changed in demeanor, fully pulling himself away from you and situating himself a foot in front of you as if he were protecting a baby doe, "finish the sentence shithead."
For everything, Jason wasn't someone who could even fight back against Billy, just like everyone else. Unless he really wanted to have a bloody nose, he would keep his mouth shut.
"...Whatever."
Tommy and Carol, for all their stupidity at times or rude comments and bullying of others, at least knew in those moments to be quiet. As weird as it was to see Billy so easily enraptured by someone, it had been this way since he met you. And nothing would change it.
"I'll see you in the library babe," how can he just call you that so casually; it makes your stomach flutter.
"Okay," you linger for a moment as if something else might happen. But it doesn't, and that's okay.
Because right now, your relationship is still trying to find its ground. It's still trying to see where it stands, and Billy Hargrove is still trying to figure it out himself.
All he knows is that he's a fool for you, and he doesn't hate that. He doesn't hate it at all.

I saw you wrote for all three boys during date night and I didn’t know if it was fine to ask for headcannons of them separately with reader. Like what would dating them look like?
It's always okay to ask for that! I love doing headcanons for the boys! Sorry it took so long but I'm back to writing!!! I hope you enjoy it!!!
Billy-
Billy is so rough around the edges but for you, he is a sweetie (I'm such a sucker for that type of love)
He wants you to know he really does love you! So he tries and does whatever he can for you.
Most of the time he shows his love by protecting you and making sure you're safe. This can be shown when you two are at a party, he makes sure you don't over drink and if you leave to go to the bathroom he holds your drink to make sure no one messes with it.
He is a bit over-protective of you and sometimes that can lead to arguments but it does come from a good place. He just doesn't want to lose you.
He calls you his angel because he really views you as an angel that was sent to him
Ever since you two got together he's been less angry, less violent, and more friendly to Max and her friends.
Billy figures out that he's truly in love with you when you find out about his dad. That night he showed up bruised up and when he told you it was because of his dad it took a lot in him to stop you from going over there and making Neal have matching bruises.
His favorite type of date is driving around town with the windows down and once you get to your special spot he pulls out a blanket from the trunk and you just watch the stars. However, he never looks at the stars...he only ever watches you.
Steve-
Spoils you every. single. time. Doesn't matter how
He hates his parents but that doesn't mean he won't use their money to spoil you.
Calls you his princess because he knows you deserve the world and he will give it to you somehow.
He worships you, especially if you've been with him since his king steve era. He knows how awful he was during that time of his life and he can't believe you stayed with him through all of it.
He realizes he is in love with you when you hold him closely after a night terror. He hides his trauma from a lot of people. He's the strong one for so many people and he isn't used to people taking care of him so when he woke up to you waking him up one morning around 2 am he knew that you were the one. You held him close to your chest that night and played with his hair for hours, letting him feel that you were close, that you weren't going anywhere. That night he fell asleep to your heartbeat and finally didn't have any sort of night terror.
His favorite type of date is cooking together! He loves the intimacy and domestic vibes that come from it.
Eddie-
Gets insecure at times. He trusts you but he knows there are other guys who could spoil you more than he can. He doesn't like that he is so much poorer than the others in town, he feels awful when he can't pay for something you want but he knows you both love each other so much so he tries not to focus on it.
Such a sweetie to you! He treats you like a queen because you are to him
He writes songs about you but if you hear them he will deny it all! He says he doesn't do love songs but it's clear he's just a lovesick puppy when it comes to you
You are his baby. He would call you sweetheart but....what if his guitar gets jealous?!?
He realizes he is in love with you when he comes homes one night after Hellfire to see you already there making dinner for Wayne and him. You didn't realize he had arrived since you were talking to Wayne about how his job was going, but it made him realize that you were the one. Anyone who takes time out of their day to not only take care of him but also his old man will forever have his heart.
His favorite type of date is when you come over, order takeout, and just listen to music. He tries and teaches you how to play the guitar and every time you do well he gives you a kiss.

Steve Harrington can never tell when a compliment is a actual compliment or when it’s one to manipulate him. You would think after countless times of being morphed into different shapes, as if he was clay by countless people he would know when a compliment was truly a compliment. That’s why he hates hearing nice things said about him, he feels as if there is a hidden meaning. That’s why when Nancy calls him “bullshit” he accepts it and doesn’t get bothered by it. But when Robin tells him that he is the greatest human she has ever met. He doesn’t believe it. This has been something engraved into his soul that he can’t get rid of. It’s apart of him and it makes him ache. The marks are carved into his ribs, printed on his skin, and burnt a hole in his heart.
It of course started with his father. Who would smile tightly and tell him that he did a good job, a great job even. Before he would go on a rant about how he could do better. This is what creates his need to be perfect. His mother used to give him compliments. Genuine ones. But when he out grew the adorable baby phase the compliments started to shift to something else. Examples being, “oh that shirt looks amazing, but don’t you think that new sweater I got you would be better?”
Then there were the teachers and the coaches. They of course would compliment him, but because his parents were donors to the school they never truly meant them without hidden meaning. Hoping that if they sucked up just a little more his parents would give a little more money. From the teachers it went to his “closest” friends. Complimenting him and cheering him on no matter what, wanting to be cool and be in the it crowd. To this day Steve still flinches at the thought of being worshiped. Which was one of the reasons why he never lets Dustin brag about him being a hero when he’s around. Of course Dustin still does, and when Eddie tells him he doesn’t feel pride he feels guilt. Of what he doesn’t know.
Then there was Billy. A confusing one. “Pretty Boy” he wasn’t sure what the other intended by it but it was definitely not a good undertone. As if he was taunting him about it, there was a hidden meaning to those two words. That Steve can’t explain unless you were there to hear it. Summary of the whole situation? Steve cant handle receiving compliments. No matter what they are. At some point he plans on working on that but for now he was more then content being who he was and what he’s in the process of shaping himself as. Sanding down the dried clay that his father purposely created to be sharp. Working his way slowly to his heart that was constantly on his sleeve.
Which is why he’s so confused when Eddie Munson comes along. The guy doesn’t give normal compliments ever. They are the wackiest things he’s ever heard, but are the only ones that don’t make him flinch. Make him feel fake. Being called Pretty, smart, anything in those categories hurt him. The unoriginality of them all made the compliments seem less sincere he realizes. Eddies are all original and thought out before he speaks. Every single one makes Steve smile softly and trust him more.
Eddie has called him a soft little sheep in the most endearing ways, has called him a adorable goblin with his nose scrunched up with the hugest smile on his face. It’s gotten to the point where more like when Steve gets comfortable hearing compliments from the other they are more hilarious then anything. “Anyone tell you that you’re gorgeous tonight?” Makes Steve laugh in Eddie’s face when they go out on their first date. Eddie looks confused and doesn’t understand. Steve thinks he’s joking, and teases him about not calling him a goblin. From then on the basic compliments are a hidden joke between the two. The real ones are when Eddie wakes up first thing in the morning and Steve tells him he looks like a raccoons ass… with endearment of course.
Steve does grow used to normal compliments, getting used to the fact that not everyone is trying to use him now. But the ones that really make him happy are the ones that most people would think were rude and mean. Eddie and Steve call each other dumbasses and motherfuckers in terms of endearment. Something that seems to be wild to some. Some say it’s a toxic relationship.
But to Eddie and Steve? It’s perfect and them. They know each other like the back of their hands, communicate when somethings wrong. They are so healthy in fact that they could do something considered toxic and it wouldn’t even have any negative effects on each other. They know that the words have positive meanings behind them.
When they do get in a fight They don’t curse each other out, they just aggressively tell the other they love each other and they will see each other later that night. Or just aggressively compliment each other until one of them breaks and gives in.
They both know how fighting can end a relationship, that was Eddie’s fear. But like Steve he grew out of it once he realized, just like compliments fights can have a positive impact as well

Jenna, can you give us a rundown of who these Saw people are for everyone who follows you but has not seen and will never see the Saw franchise?
ok my beautiful and very accepting followers gather round i am going to try to provide you some basic context to these characters that feature heavily on this blog these days, and i HAVE smoked a bowl of weed already
majorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fucking series spoilers for anyone who might actually kind of be interested
mkay first of all despite what my blog might lead you to believe, this guy is like. the OG antagonist. the main dude for the whole franchise even when hes not technically present for most plotlines. all of his scenes are baller af
Tumblr media
his name is John Kramer and he is the original Jigsaw Killer. He truly believes he can rehabilitate people who dont appreciate their lives (or commit crimes or take advantage of people) by putting them in saw traps. he pretends its not personal but it totally is. hes always putting people he personally beefs with in traps.
hes deeply fucked up but also really fascinating tbh like the whole fun of his character is seeing what reason hes gonna come up with to justify his next atrocity and how he manipulates everyone around him into doing his bidding. hes a mastermind. hes also Peepaw. Peepaw is kind of crazy but we love Peepaw
This is Billy hes a puppet
Tumblr media
Billy is good
This is Adam Stanheight everyones favorite dead boy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hes so funny and charming and is also such a sopping wet pathetic sad rat. everyone loves Adam. We love pretending Adam is gonna come back but hes been super dead for years
This is Lawrence Gordon the guy he was stuck in the bathroom with and he does, yes, saw his foot off to free himself from his chain. hes an oncologist
Tumblr media
everyone loves shipping him with Adam, thats called Chainshipping and its very cute but also very sad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
esp because Lawrence turns to the dark side and becomes an apprentice to Jigsaw and never went back to save Adam like he PROMISED what the FUCK
Tumblr media
but also i love Apprentice!Lawrence because of all the nutty implications and what other fun it has given us (such as AUs where Adam lives and even sometimes joins Lawrence as an apprentice himself)
This is Amanda Young she has many,. haircuts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER 😭😭😭😭 Shes an apprentice to Jigsaw and his pseudo adopted daughter and they have such a fucked up and tragic found family with each other.
i love that shes messy and emotional and vengeful and sarcastic and battling personal demons and questioning whether John's "rehabilitation" method really works (aka saw traps) and being unsure if she can take up the mantle when he passes. but he believes in her. and god they make me fucking emotional
this is Lynn Denlon shes a doctor kidnapped to treat John's cancer. and people ship her with Amanda, thats Shotgunshipping. it goes pretty hard tbh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like their scenes go fucking crazy through a shipping lens oh my fucking god. actually they all do tbh thats part of the fun of shipping in this franchise
oh boy big sigh here we go
this is Detective Mark Hoffman who is unfortunately my favorite character and i am REALLy high now. if u ever get confused like MANY of us did, you can recognize him by his bitch lips and/or boobies. ugh im gonna throw up i hate his ass
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
that last one oh my fucking god
anyway hes actually awful but i love him so much and at first i was scared that i was the only one who did LMAO.. anyway he also gets recruited by Jigsaw as another apprentice when he was in a very dark place, having just killed the murderer of his little sister. he made it look like a saw trap to frame Jigsaw.
but Jigsaw found out & was like nuh uh bitch you're working for me now, or else I'm telling on you.
But then Hoffman was like guess what bitch I LOVE it here and i LOVE killing. he becomes the Jigsquad problem child and proceeds to kill or manipulate everyone he needed to so he could be the sole "Jigsaw" remaining. But he's sloppy and paranoid af so the FBI is on his ass from day 1. And the more he kills, the sloppier he gets, and the more frantic and unable to dig himself out of this hole he gets. and the more violent and crazy he gets. But the more crazy he gets, the more he keeps evading death like a cockroach. For real, watching his downfall was the major appeal of his character for me, and the start of my downfall..ing in love with him. lord almighty
anyway everyone hates his ass and we LOVE bullying him!!!!! he deserves it. for all of the atrocities hes committed and also because hes such a smarmy little shit. even Amanda bullies him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then we have Peter Strahm who shows up and hates Hoffman immediately, as you do. u can tell its him from his ridiculous eyelashes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and, YEAH, YOUVE GUESSED IT......... PEOPLE LIKE TO SHIP HIM WITH HOFFMAN.......... I KNOW..... RIGHT.... COULDNT BE ME.......
Because he is Hoffman's biggest adversary for two movies, knowingly in one. It's a classic cat and mouse game.
Anyway we love Peter Strahm!!!!! He's also an asshole! He's extremely hotheaded and short tempered but extremely passionate about the case. like, his dedication goes crazy. He's also quite the sassy bitch himself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but its BECAUSE he is also caring and emotional, especially towards his work partner Lindsey Perez WHO WE LOVE BECAUSE SHES AMAZING AND CARING AND SHE'S BEEN PETER'S PARTNER AND FRIEND FOR 5 YEARS THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER I LOVE THEM
Tumblr media
and those are the characters but ur probably like "what the fuck is up with the glass coffin" well my friends that is what us Hoffstrahmers refer to as our roman empire.
um i ran out of room for pictures :) but by now yall have seen the two traps reblogged and drawn by me a BILLION times, and those are: the water cube trap, and the glass coffin
so the deal with those:
the water cube trap: Strahm runs off to find Jigsaw himself after wildly following clues with no backup because he's so worked up from Perez getting hurt earlier and he sets off on revenge immediately. Hoffman catches him and puts him in the water cube.
It's meant to just kill him. he wasnt supposed to survive it. but Strahm is suddenly the main character when he fucking survives an unwinnable saw trap the fuckin crowd goes wild, it was fuckin sick dawg
and then through a series of Hoffman backstory flashbacks that he daydreams, he figures out the entirety of Hoffman's real secret identity and sets off to go catch him
and thats when he finds:
The Glass Coffin Trap: the instructions on the Jigsaw tape tell him to get into the coffin, it will hurt him but he will have a chance to survive. "do you trust me?" but he KNOWS its Hoffman and he doesnt trust that motherfucker so he doesnt get in. Hoffman approaches the scene, they get in a scuffle, and Strahm pushes him into the coffin and seals it.
Tumblr media
but hoffman is like "neener neener poopoo you're an idiot" and tells him to listen to the rest of the tape. which tells him that if he doesnt get in the coffin, he's gonna fuckin die bro lmao rip
and so he does! hoffman, in the coffin, sinks into the ground like some cartoon villain and the walls close in and squeeze Strahm to death
anyway at first Coffinshipping to me was kind of a joke like just classic Asshole x Asshole, Enemies to Lovers, Hero x Villain shenanigans. Teehee what if they KISSED... in the COFFIN... and all.
but then i read exactly 1 fic and i was completely convinced entirely of the angst possibilities of these two. the "what if"s that were possible with them. the little Hoffstrahm community i found has been so fucking awesome their ideas are so fucking fun, and I'm having so much fun thinking of art of them and fics of them and ugh i love it here

You have any Wilson family headcanons to spare? Especially on Rose & Grant?
DO I EVER!!! Gosh where do I even start
I mentioned to a friend of mine the other day that I think Slade was a leash kid, and I stand by that whole heartedly. He wanted to raise Grant as a leash kid too, simply because he thought you were supposed to, but Adeline threatened his life so it never happened. This was the first of many times he was confronted with the concept that maybe his home life wasn't great.
He would not even begin reflecting on this until almost a decade later. He still doesn't really consider himself a victim and honestly most of his shitty parenting comes from him just having no clue what he's doing. He's aware that he's bad at it, but instead of trying to improve he just tries to avoid his kids in hopes that they'll be better off without him.
Also he grew up in 1950's-60's Appalachia, I think he's more superstitious than he lets on. I imagine he grew up hearing about family curses and old wives tales, and while on some level he recognizes that Fran likely just used those stories to cope with the situation there's also a part of him that believes it for the same reasons she did. He's not a victim, he can't be, so it must not have been abuse. Which eventually turned into him just kind of accepting that he was always going to be a bad father, that there was never a chance for him to have a family and any attempt he makes will just end up worse than the last.
It makes it easier to maintain his self imposed isolation that way.
Adeline is a lot more interesting than people give her credit for. I like to think she was born and raised in a big city like New York or maybe Gotham if I wanted to be funny. She was definitely a wild child, and that was something that didn't change during her first marriage.
I truly do believe that Count whats-his-face (I don't care enough to look him up) tried exactly once to hit her and he ended up with three bullet wounds that all knicked arteries. It was his only warning and he was smart enough to know that.
Addie is loyal to the end, she's the kind of person that steadfastly refuses to let go of people she cares about. In basically ever version of her story she tries, she tries so hard to make things work. I once compared her to the Greek myth of Medea and I think about the comparison often.
I also think that Adeline was always her father's daughter, whether she liked it or not. I don't remember if it was canon that she was raised primarily by her dad but I only remember her dad being mentioned so I think she grew up in a single parent household and was mostly left to her own devices as a kid. She probably grew up really close with her cousin, most people probably thought they were sisters.
Mayflower fucking HATES Slade, she was advocating for the divorce before they were even married. I know in my heart she was Slade's biggest hater. Her and Slade talked mad shit about each other but they were also gossip buddies for the longest and it was the only thing that stopped her from beating his ass all the time.
SladeAddie is so toxic Bi4Bi coded. Really funny to me that Addie was probably older than Slade, do you know the kind of rizz you have to possess to bag a milf that could kill you in 20 different ways before you could blink? One who's already been divorced? What charm was this freshly 18 year old drop out exuding to be pulling like this?
When do you think he told her that he lied to the recruiter about his age and he wasn't actually 23 or whatever? Did he ever tell her? Did she figure it out herself? It was literally never addressed but I think about it all the time.
Slade is definitely still mildly in love with her and falls a little all over again every time she deals him grievous bodily harm. I don't know his thing for people who hate him is probably a self conscious way to punish himself for sucking all the time.
Billy and Alfred being friends is a headcanon that I literally never stop thinking about. Why wouldn't they be old friends or whatever? They have tea the 4th Tuesday of every other month. They complain about their respective morons and brag about the kids they have to take care of because their morons won't.
Billy is definitely a British rock fan and he fucking HATES country music. Slade starts playing it in the car and Billy threatens to crash the whole car just to make a point.
He's like maybe 5 years older than Slade if I'm being generous about it, he just looks older next to Slade because he's not hopped up on super serum.
He's the one Rose gives her father's day gifts to <3
SladeBilly is canon to me, no way Slade is capable of spending that much time with someone without sleeping with them at least once. It might be the healthiest relationship he's ever had with anyone and Billy barely tolerates him.
Lilian Worth my beloved,,,,,,they gave her such a white ass name. I choose to believe that she changed it later on for anonymity. Chea Nath is a name she hasn't used in a while, but it's still one she holds dear.
She seems like someone who was really into ballet, and probably someone who was really good at it too.
She's one of those characters that we don't really have any information on, which leaves a lot of wiggle room backstory wise. I probably write too much about characters with poor backgrounds (surprise your bitch grew up impoverished) so I guess I'll let Lili have this one.
Diplomats daughter, her and her mom were really close growing up, and she seems like she grew up with sisters. She's got that middle sister energy to her, growing up everyday was a fight and let's just say she didn't lose often.
If Adeline is Medea, Lili is definitely Circe. Versatile, powerful, a man hater, and she'll do anything to protect her girls.
Honors student, her grades never dropped below an A- and she has degrees in everything from fine art to communications. Rose went to college purely because her mom made it clear that not going was not an option.
Grant is one of my favorite characters. Ever. He's definitely an old school country enjoyer, much to Billy's chagrin and Slades secret delight.
He was the boy who climbed up the tallest trees to prove he could and then came home with a thousand little scrapes on him.
He has a bee allergy.
He's the least enhanced of his siblings but he still has a meta gene, I think the reason the H.I.V.E. serum didn't activate it like it should have is because his power was the mental kind and not the physical kind so his body couldn't hold up against it even while his psychic powers were getting stronger.
Painted his nails one(1) time, it was a dried up iridescent blue that Addie dug up and was going to throw away but Grant wanted to try it. He didn't know what nail polish remover was though so he scraped his teeth on his nails to get it all off but he couldn't get all of it and he almost cried so hard he threw up at dinner that night because he was scared of Slade noticing (Slade didn't notice and wouldn't have cared if he did).
Thought he was SO stealthy when he snuck out but literally everyone knew because he always came home smelling like weed, hungover, and he went to school in the same clothes he wore to go out. Most of the time Addie didn't care (See above: "former wild child") but Slade "Biggest loser in his hometown" Wilson always had an issue with it.
Officially his tomb is located in the Kane family plot but he's actually buried in Slades hometown next to his grandmother. (Adeline is not aware of this)
Joey was actually the one who pulled most of the pranks when they were kids, but Grant always took the fall. Mostly because literally no one would believe it even if Joey said he did it. Which he tried to do, many times.
Grant taught Joey to make flower crowns but he never admitted it because he thought it made him look weak. He still keeps the few that Joey made for him though, they're basically turning to dust in the drawer he hid them in to this day. They're one of the few things that weren't torn down and shoved in the attic after his death.
Joey still celebrates Grant's birthday every year, him and mom play The Last Man by Clint Mansell on the piano because it was his favorite piece to play before he stopped because it wasn't "cool".
Grant tried to get Joey to come with him when he ran away but Joey didn't want to leave Addie. Joey ended up moving into Grant's old apartment, he often thinks of what life would be like if he'd taken up the offer.
Grant is THE ass hole big brother from the late 90's/early 2000's. Down to the mullet and the shirt with the sleeves cut off. He used to steal Addie's eyeliner and she would get so mad because that stuff is EXPENSIVE and he's just smearing however. She teaches him how to do it properly but he says it makes him look "too girly".
Grant's picture is the only one in Slades wallet because he doesn't have to worry about putting him in danger anymore.
DON'T let Joey's "natural" pretty boy look fool you he has a 20 step skin routine and a 15 step hair routine and he wakes up at the ass crack of dawn to start on his makeup.
He used to get the worst acne as a pre-teen and he has physically burned all the evidence except for one picture of him and Slade on a fishing trip when he was like thirteen, he doesn't know it exists and it's the only picture Slade consistently travels with.
He doesn't want to be the favorite but he would get mad if someone else was the favorite because what work were YOU even putting in for it.
He has 12 year old boy humor I fear. Giggles at dick jokes and has used his name to make "Joe Mama" jokes on various occasions.
Number one Mama's boy of all time, there's not a single time they've gone out in public together where they haven't had coordinated outfits. Him and Addie call biweekly to shit talk people and exchange recipes and the like.
Joey is THE biggest gossiper. He'll talk shit about people right in front of them if he's sure they don't know ASL and whoever is around just has to try not to laugh while they "translate" him.
He's so good at convincing people to do things for him just by looking at them with his big ol' eyes. And he's a theater kid so his expressions are really exaggerated.
Rose, my muse. I know canonically she's a smoker but I'm changing that to her being a vaper. I don't know she just looks like she'd beat the shit out of you for a cherry lemon cancer stick.
Energy drinks don't work on her in normal amounts so to rectify that she constantly walks around with horrific concoctions in a water bottle the size of her head.
She street races as R4V4G3R and she's pretty good at it. She learned a lot about cars doing it which is how Slade justified being an anonymous benefactor for her.
The few weeks Slade had her she ran that shit like the navy. Up at 6 AM on the dot, tight ass ponytail swaying as she got ready for school. She was out that door by 7:25 everyday and she would MAKE Slade violate traffic laws to get to school by 7:35.
Has bitten people before and will do it again.
Had the BIGGEST crush on Donna Troy when she was on the Teen Titans. She didn't know it then but she did. Her taste in women really hasn't changed at all.
Only has her grunge thing going on when she's planning on meeting people, average day outfit is all pastels and florals that her mom used to pick out for her.
Got pretty much all of Lili's stuff, her main apartment is always Immaculately decorated. She also lives in L.A. because literally fuck New York. She's trying to get her engineering degree in PEACE.
She looks up to Grant a lot, she really only has Joey's account of things and he only tells her the good stuff. How he was brave, and strong, and funny. When she was younger she really wanted to be like him, but that was the last thing Slade wanted. So obviously she named herself Ravager out of spite.
Rose is the shortest one in the family but she's buff as hell, my girl is built like a fridge and she knows it. Joey tried to rest his arm on her head one and she stabbed him. It didn't go through his armor obviously but it did leave a mildly annoying bruise that he pouted about for a week.
She low-key really likes Addie but she tends to stay away because of the whole "child of infidelity" thing. She HAS threatened to call Addie on Slade multiple times.
Grew up with a bunch of other kids so she never really wanted siblings, but she would kill for Joey. She'd like a sister though. Really misses her cousins and aunts from the brothel but doesn't want to put them in danger by talking to them.
She's fond of kids but wouldn't want her own because she doesn't want to bring a kid into the kinda life she has, or their family in general.
Routinely takes jobs from Slade because she knows full well he won't do shit. And she's right every time he makes it into a team up that usually ends with them fighting but sometimes, every once in a while, they do something nice together and it makes her remember why she wanted to find him so bad when she was 13.
I don't like her carving her eye out for Slade I thought the whole concept of her idolizing Slade was fucking stupid. She tolerates him at best. So I like to attribute it to her visions, I think the blind prophet symbolism is really fun. Especially because then we can have a Prometheus type situation where her eye patch keeps switching sides/sometimes she's not blind because she keeps carving them out in fits of Seer Madness™️ but they keep regenerating.
SHE HAS BROWN EYES HER EYES ARE BROWN I KNOW HER PERSONALLY PLEASE LET HER KEEP EVEN ONE OF HER ETHNIC FEATURES I BEG!!!

When I was a kid I used to love Britney Spears. Her music videos fascinated me - they were colourful and they seemed to have a story to tell, so I adored watching them and making up my own stories that went along with what was happening on the screen. I didn't know English back then at all, so I didn't understand a word, but her songs brought me joy and I adored her.
When I got a bit older, around maybe 8 or 9, it turned out that liking Britney Spears is BAD TM. Because she is a stupid blonde, you see. My parents told me I was too smart to listen to trashy pop. They helped me get the CDs, yes, but they were always given to me with a 'eh, I hope you will grow out of it soon'. I was a smart kid, I shouldn't listen to stupid things.
My peers also mocked Britney, telling me all the other artists that were better to listen to, like Christina Aguilera. She was the smart, edgy blonde, so if I had to listen to silly songs, then I could at least pick a more mature, better option.
There were other artists I listened to, of course, it's not like Britney was the only one that spoke to me, but when I learned English enough to understand what the songs were about, I grew to like them more - the songs about trying to be your own person, about not accepting what other people tell you you should be. About parents deciding what you should do and like. They resonated with me, even though I was 'too smart' for that sort of music.
As most kids do, I started to hide it. When I was 10, maybe 11, I made a very good impression of being over it. I listened to Rammstein now, sometimes to Linkin Park. It was much better, according to many.
My dad told me he was proud of me when I told him I enjoyed Sabaton. "Finally, you grew out of your stupid era!"
I was sufficiently shamed by that point to never mention my Britney Spears phase. It was the butt of jokes at family dinners still, because it was such a funny thing for a kid to like silly music. Now that the kid was over it, we should mock it as viciously as possible. Just in case said kid wants to revert to the old ways.
To be completely honest, I copied that approach - my victim of choice was Adele. It was in high school already, and I absolutely abhorred her songs. I found them whiny, overhyped, unnecessarily tearful and man-oriented, they all sounded the same to my ears, so whenever someone said that their favourite song was something of Adele's, my first thought was 'but you are smart? Why her?'
Fast-forward to now, and with Britney Spears's book released, it turns out that listening to her is okay now. It's feminist. It's fine and even good to say outright that you are a fan. Because she is a victim of abuse now, so it's fine and morally correct to like her. Her songs and lyrics have value now. Curious.
The thing is, I truly did grow out from my Britney phase. I retain some sentiment for a few songs, but either it's simply not who I am anymore, or I successfully eradicated my interest in her to stop feeling ashamed whenever her name comes up in a conversation. Doesn't matter which one it is, the effect is the same.
However, now I am old enough to see that what was done to my Britney phase, I applied to other singers - Adele, Billie Eilish, to name a few. There is always a woman singer to hate, someone whose lyrics and music "you are too smart to enjoy".
There is no real take away from it really, all of that are just musings born out of an idle mind, but now I believe that songs are a bit like poetry - you either connect with it or you don't, either it touches you or it doesn't. One person will see themselves in Adele, someone else will find themselves mirrored in Billie Eilish, someone else feels seen whenever they listen to Mitski. It's a universal feeling we all experience, to like a song and think 'wow, this speaks to me!', we all just have different tastes and different experiences.
I just know that right now, I no longer want to be the person who says 'I thought you were smarter than this?' whenever someone shares their favourites.

Hiii. How are you?? This is my first ever request since I've been on this app and what a great idea would be if I ask my favorite writer my first request. So because you're THE queen of angst I wanted to ask if you could write something about Billy. 12, 16, 19, 32 & 41 from the angst list. Choose the ending as you wish. Sorry if they're a lot, you can take some numbers out if you want. Thank you!! Free to decide if you take it or leave it. Love youu 💛
I'm very tired. How are you?
Oh thank you!! I will gladly be the queen of angst 🧎‍♀️
⚠️no happy ending ;)
“I wasn’t enough for you?” “No, you were too much.”
“It didn’t have to be like this, but now you’ve ruined everything.”
“This isn’t going to be fixed. You’ve ruined this for good now.”
“Don’t look at me like you’re sorry. You’re not sorry.”
“Have you ever thought that maybe you’re the problem? All these people keep leaving and you keep acting surprised.”
Tumblr media
Billy didn't believe in love. He didn't believe in someone truly and deeply loving someone, no matter their mistakes. He believed every one lies to themselves, saying they are in love because that is what they are supposed to do. Billy hated everything about the world. And he's supposed to fall in love and somehow it all gets better? He calls bullshit.
She was the opposite. She adored the idea of being in love. Believing there was nothing better than learning to love someone with all their flaws. She believed once you find the right person, everything will fall into place.
So how did she find herself caught up with the most self destructive man on the planet?
Now as she sits here crying on the curb with a party alive and wild behind her, she wishes she listened to all the warnings. All the warnings from girls that Billy does not settle and he never will. That she shouldn't expect to change him because he never will. Billy Hargrove does not fall in love, period. But she was dumb and thought maybe her love could conquer it all. She believed she could fix him, show him falling in love was beautiful and worth the hurt. Turns out she learned from him. She learned her love doesn't conquer anything. It leaves her heartbroken and crying on a curb. Filled with insecurities she didn't even know she had. Filled with endless bottles of doubt that surrounded her feet. She thought she found the right person but now everything is even more out of place.
~~
An hour ago, everything was good and it's been good for months. Her and Billy began dating two months ago and she was the happiest she's been. And she believed he was too. Girls from every corner warned her that Billy sleeps and moves on. She thought maybe he didn't find the right one yet. Turns out she wasn't the right one either.
She can feel the burning tears coming back as she remembers what happened just minutes ago. When she caught her boyfriend leaning against a sink, a girl on her knees in front of him. She could still hear his moaning and groans as his hands pushed the girl further down on him. His head and body were totally lost in the moment. Probably having the time of his life as she searched the party floor by floor for him.
When she caught him she didn't make a peep. Simply closing the door again and rushing down the stairs. Her plan was to run as far as she could but the sobs taking over her body didn't let her move far. Just a few feet away from the front door.
~~
She wasn't sure how long she was sitting out there. She saw couples leaving, lip locked and giggling. Saw girls throwing up and sobbing. Her arms and legs were cold as she sat in a dress but couldn't find the want to even move a step.
"baby, there you are! I've been looking everywhere." The sound of his voice used to make her feel butterflies. Calling her baby was always so soft and special. Did he call the girl on her knees that when she was swallowing him?
His hand touched her arm and she flinched, hard. He definitely noticed and quickly moved his hand back to his area.
"are you okay?" He asked.
He sounded concerned but maybe that was just how good of an actor he was.
"let's see. One of us was spending an hour crying on the curb and the other one was getting a blowjob from a slut. Should we play who is who?" She snapped. Her tears may have been blurring her vision but she vowed to look him dead in the eyes as she fell apart. Forcing him to watch every tear fall so he knows what he did. Maybe he wouldn't even care. Maybe he'd laugh and mock her for thinking they were something real. Maybe he was just that cruel.
~~
One thing about Billy is he will do many things wrong. And know exactly what he's doing. He'll know it's wrong but will gable on his charms to get him out of things.
But another thing about Billy is he does not like to be called out. He does not like to be forced to hear other people tell him what he did, how he fucked up.
He felt himself spurring words before he took the time to think about it.
"now who told you that? You know girls are always making shit up to break us up." He scoffed.
"I saw you Billy. And I don't understand why?" She asked. She didn't want to fight. She wanted it to hurt him as bad as it hurt her.
"look you're drunk. You probably saw someone that wasn't me"
The anger was filling her. He was sitting here like she was making shit up for fun.
"oh fuck you Billy. Don't lie to me. Be a fucking man and tell me why you cheated on me! I wasn't enough for you? Is that it? I refused to have sex yet and you need to go find it somewhere?"
She wasn't ready to go that level with him. She feared she wouldn't be good enough compared to the countless girls he apparently worked his way through. She thought maybe it would hurt less when he walked out the door. She was wrong. It still hurts the fucking same.
"not enough? No you are too much! I didn't ask to be in a fucking relationship with you. You just assumed and ran with it. I never agreed to be tied down to one girl. That shit is on you!"
Billy did what he did best. He threw the blame on someone else. He'd do the crime but he'd make sure his hands were never bloody when it was time to point fingers.
"are you fucking serious? We went on a date after date. We've been doing this dance for two months and you thought we weren't even together? Yeah maybe I assumed, I'll take the blame there. But that is no excuse to shove your dick down another girl's throat."
"it didn't have to be like this, but now you've ruined everything! You allowed your feelings to get in the way and made yourself think you were special. I never once told you I was only seeing you. Maybe you should have asked if you wanted some clarity." He spit out.
She couldn't tell if he was putting on a show or was actually this broken of a man.
"Jesus Billy. Fine fuck it! It was all my fault. I was stupid and thought you deserved to be loved. You sucked me in with your sob story of everyone leaving you. You made me feel like you wanted someone to care. And I did. I cared for you and I did everything to make you feel like you were worthy of love. My mistake. Because now I'm thinking, have you ever thought that maybe you’re the problem? All these people keep leaving and you keep acting surprised. You make it impossible for anyone to stand by you when you treat everyone like they can be replaced in seconds. "
Billy didn't like the way that hit him in his gut. He thought he was so passed feeling anything other than a good orgasm.
He was pissed. She did this to herself. He never made them official. She got caught up in her own fantasies and blamed it on him.
"fuck you!" He spat
She realized that may have been a low blow. People leaving Billy ever since his mother was a touchy subject. She's disappointed in herself and she allowed herself to go that low.
"I'm so-" she apologized for just the last sentence. Everything else she'll take with her to the grave.
“Don’t look at me like you’re sorry. You’re not sorry.” she could see in his eyes he wanted to be angry. But he was hurting.
He hurt so badly and made fun of how she felt. Seeing him slowly break apart made her want to do it even more.
Maybe he turned her into a cold monster now
"you're right. I'm not sorry. You fucking deserve to feel alone. I can't wait for the day you wake up and realize you'll never be loved because you self destruct everything in your life. This isn’t going to be fixed. You’ve ruined this for good now. And I hope one day you wake up and regret that."
With that she gave him one last look, back into the party for a ride home.
Billy wanted to fight with no gloves?
Fine, but she made sure to make all four hands bloody now

You’d barely even known Billy Hargrove for a year.
Not even a year.
It might be better to say you hardly knew him.
And yet a part of you felt like you’d known him forever.
When you heard the helicopters roaring by overhead as you stood in your yard that muggy July morning...
You somehow knew in the pit of your stomach that something had gone terribly wrong.
Going inside to ask your parents about it, your mother already had on the television.
The local news affiliate, WCPK was broadcasting from the Starcourt Mall.
“There’s been an accident...” your father said from his armchair, clicking up the volume.
Hope Freeman was reporting in front of the south entrance near the food court.
Smoke was billowing in large plumes from the roof behind her.
But that wasn’t what upset you.
Behind the police tape, to the right of the camera frame, was a busted up muscle car next to a totaled convertible.
There was only one guy in town that you knew who drove a car like that.
Who drove a 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28.
You grabbed your keys.
It couldn’t be true.
There was already a crowd at the mall. You couldn’t even begin to count how many news vans there were.
This was probably the biggest story to ever hit Hawkins to date. But that wasn’t what you cared about.
Your feet carried you to the exact spot. As far as the police tape would let you go.
It was true.
There. Right in front of you.
The passenger’s side of the camaro was wrecked. The sideview mirror was hanging by a thread. The hood was bent up, pulled away from the frame.
The windshield was smashed beyond recognition and ... were there bullet holes?
Water was dripping from the chassis but the remains were still smoldering. The contracting metal still making small clinks and pops as it cooled.
The car looked so horrific. It terrified you thinking of the violence that had occurred overnight.
While you had been none the wiser. Sleeping comfortably.
You felt sick. Guilty. How had you not known?
On the far east side there were still a few ambulances packing up.
You needed to know.
The EMTs were not busy. There was no flurry of activity.
Weren’t they supposed to be helping people?
A gurney was rolling out one of the bay doors. There was a sheet covering their form.
You really, truly didn’t want to think about this. The possibility of who was under there.
Hitting the curb, an arm rolled out.
You choked out a loud sob, your eyes seeing the ring on the middle finger.
Reality was cruel.
You had just seen him a couple days ago.
You had a massive argument that night. He said the most the most terrible things to you.
Things that you never would’ve believed he would say. It didn’t really seem like he himself believed he was saying them.
He wanted you gone. Out of his life. At any cost he said.
You didn’t believe him. It was breaking you.
Shattering you to pieces to hear each biting word come from the lips of someone you trusted so dearly.
Someone you genuinely loved but had no heart to tell.
He pushed you out.
Slamming the door right in your face, and taking everything you thought you had figured out in life with him.
The funeral was miserable.
Not only for yourself but because you knew it was exactly the kind of thing he would have hated.
All the dressed up pomp and circumstance just to be planted in the ground and forgotten by people who pretend and never really knew who the hell you were in the first place.
The fake smiles. The fake tears. The false and empty “I’m sorry for your loss...”
He would have absolutely hated it.
The only person who really seemed to enjoy themselves at his funeral was his father.
The man couldn’t seem to get enough of people’s handshakes and condolences.
He fed on their pity and attention in a way that nauseated you.
You spent most of the service sitting next to his sister Max.
Neither of you said much to one another, but somehow it seemed like you both understood how awful and how stupid this all felt.
You both took solace in each other’s company if only for that reason alone.
It wasn’t even two weeks after the funeral when you heard his father was going to scrap the camaro.
You offered him cash on the spot. You didn’t even care if it was over half your savings that you had been scraping together since you were twelve.
You could not let one more piece of him be destroyed. You just couldn’t.
You lost count of how many times you’d cried since that July morning.
But the time that you cried the hardest was when the camaro was hauled into your driveway.
You had to pry the door open, the hinges creaking in distress.
Glass was everywhere. The dashboard was melted and singed with smoke.
Sitting in the tape deck, half inserted was a Def Leppard cassette, warped from the heat of the fire.
Below in the center console, were his most prized possessions.
His aviators, a zippo lighter, half a remaining pack of Marlboros and two other cassettes. Scorpions and Metallica.
You sat in that car for hours. Crying.
When you couldn’t cry any longer you would just sit there quietly and think.
Think of all the times you had been in this car.
All the times he’d yelled at you for turning down the music. Or rolling the window down. Or touching anything.
Arguing about his car. Arguing in general.
Laughing. God you missed his laugh.
His smile. The way he’d bashfully look away when a genuine grin would grace his lips.
God it all hurt so much.
Why couldn’t it have been you instead?
You wouldn’t have cared. You’d have willingly taken a bullet, run through flames. Gone to hell and back.
If it just could have been you instead.
The thing you hated most about all of this was how little his death affected others.
It felt like your entire world had stopped spinning.
And people. Classmates. Your parents.
Had the nerve. The audacity. To continue on like nothing had ever happened.
You felt like screaming. You wanted them to hurt as much as you did.
They didn’t understand. They didn’t see.
And so you sat in that car. And you would scream. And you would cry.
Eventually you worked up the strength to start cleaning it up.
You cleaned out the glass and the debris.
You replaced the windshield.
You took it to the shop got replacement parts and had the body worked on.
And each time you fixed up another little part of it.
You would talk to him.
You would talk to Billy.
You’d sit in the car and chat just like you had.
You replaced the tape deck and got new cassettes.
When the car was driveable you started taking it out. Not on long outings.
You knew he’d kill you if you did that.
Just enough to keep it working.
And you would drive that car to all the places he liked and the places he’d been.
No one was going to forget Billy Hargrove.

It's kind of difficult to discern what's true about E and what isn't, because so much of what's been written about him directly conflicts with other things. So it's hard to keep track of what's really true and what's just rumor that got twisted and blown out of proportion.
Me personally, I tend to not trust Lamar, Nash or the Stanleys, because they've all been proven to at best, not have the best memory of things, or at worst be outright liars for money.
I agree completely and throughout my journey of reading about Elvis I’ve learned to not take anything as truth until I have cross referenced between books/interviews and it’s been confirmed by multiple people or at least coincides with behavior that Elvis usually exhibited
** I also highly highly recommend elvislibrary (who is on Instagram and has the biggest elvis book collection I’ve ever seen😫) as well as elvisinfonet for books reviews, whenever I start a new book I usually check out their reviews beforehand as they give great insight to whether the book is credible or not
I have discovered that literally anyone who has breathed the same oxygen as Elvis has come out and shared a story or written a book about him. This man was even more exploited after his death than while he was living and it just angers me. Everyone who knew him has made money off of him in some way and I realized that people will say anything if they think it is a story that will sell
And “Baby let’s play house” by Alanna Nash was actually the first Elvis book I ever read, and foolishly, I believed every story in it, no matter how outrageous it was. Then I started to do a little basic research and I realized she has allowed so many fabricated stories in her book and has given a platform to several people who aren’t credible
Like the whole relationship with Tura Santana never happened and Elvis never even met her even though she claims he proposed, yet Alanna Nash shared her story. And Elvis did not publicly dry hump the fake dog Nipper on stage like she claims, he just wiggled 😭 And Nash uses Byron Raphael as a source, who she co-wrote a playboy article with in 2008, when it’s been confirmed that he never actually worked for Elvis and only very briefly worked for the Colonel (and the playboy article is full of the most blatant lies ever, I cannot believe this woman is regarded as a credible biographer 🤧!!!)
As you said, I’m very wary of Lamar Fike also, he tends to over-exaggerate things and I found his perception of events to be a whole lot different from others when they are describing the same stories
As for the Stanleys, Dee is literally one of the nastiest people you will ever learn about in the Presley circle and it truly disgusts me that Elvis treated her and her sons so kindly (even though he didn’t like her) and she repaid him by going to a tabloid magazine and telling a made up story to make money
What’s most disgusting is that she made up lies about two people she never even met (Gladys Presley and Nick Adams) and only used people who had already passed away as sources for her book like saying that Vernon Presley, Minnie Mae (Elvis’ grandmother) and Alberta (former maid), all knew that Elvis was in a s*xual relationship with his mother. Obviously all these people weren’t here to say otherwise and that is why she wrote the book (I hate that woman so muchhh that I’m getting mad just typing this 💀)
Ricky and David I’m not too crazy about either but I give them a little bit of respect for calling out their mother and saying her book was full of lies
Tumblr media
Honestly the only Stanley books worth reading are by Billy Stanley and I really loved his two books “The faith of Elvis” and “Elvis: My Brother”, I found his insight really unique and I really really appreciated his honesty (if y’all didn’t know Elvis had a brief affair with Billy’s 18 year old wife named Annie, and it was a mess 😭!!!)
If y’all want to be entertained Dee Stanley went on the Geraldo talk show in the 90s alongside Joe Esposito and J.D Sumner to talk about the whole Gladys story and they absolutely drag her 😫 J.D lowkey wanted to slap her and I don’t blame him at all
unfortunately some of the audience believes her about Gladys so that was frustrating to watch but other than that, Dee gets absolutely humiliated 😃

Billy Mine - Act 1.3
In the early evenings, before my curfew, Bill will come to visit me. It was easier this way. If he didn't visit me, I'd sneak out of the dorm to go find him. I had a knack of sneaking out of wherever I was supposed to be. Bill would call me an escape artist. Many nights, I'd end up in the boys dorm looking for Billy. I got in trouble a lot for that, but I didn't care.
Tumblr media
Billy Mine is beautiful. He got more handsome as the years went by. Tall & lithe, thick dark hair, sharp cheekbones, a dimple in his chin & the darkest eyes. Most times, you'll find him scowling, but when he smiles at me, my chest used to expand like a balloon with all the love & adoration I had for him. I wasn't the only girl at the Home who found Billy beautiful. There were a lot of girls and I hated each & every one of them. They would try to use me to get to Billy. One girl, was jealous of the attention I got from Billy so I became her personal punching bag until Billy saw the bruises and marks she left on me.
I learned how to do a cartwheel, and needed to show Billy. "Watch me! You ain't looking!" I laughed as the world turned upside down. My shirt got loose & rose up revealing one of my bruises.
Bill does a double take, "Bunny? C'mere."
"No, watch me." I did another sad excuse of a cartwheel.
"Juliet! I said c'mere! NOW!" I jerk my head in his direction. He never used that tone with me. I hurry over & he holds my wrists, "Do you have a bruise on your tummy?"
"No," trying to tug my hand out of his grasp, but he won't let go.
"Bun, don't you dare lie to me. Did someone hurt you?" Billy was hurt badly by a bad man who visited the Home. I overheard people talking about him.
"No."
"Show me. I don't believe you." Bill folds his arms across his chest and we engage in a staring contest which I eventually lose because I can't stand the glare Billy is giving me. He bends over & reaches for the hem of my tshirt, "I'm going to take a little look, ok?" I let him look and hear him suck in air through his teeth. He looks down at me and I cry. I never seen him look so angry. Not like a regular mad. It was a scary mad. He closes his eyes and paces in front of me while I cry & he stops, "Bunny, can I see that again?" I nod. He looks at the bruise & traces his finger along it. "Does it still hurt you?"
"No."
He turns me around & lifts my shirt again to see more marks on my back. "Who did this? Who touched you?"
I turn back to him and I couldn't take his anger. I threw my arms around his neck & he picks me up & rocks me while he paces. "I love you, Billy. Don't be mad at me."
"I ain't mad at you." He sets me on my feet & grabs my shoulders, looking me straight in the eyes, "But Juliet, you can't ever, EVER lie to me again. You hear me? I ain't playing around. I'm dead serious"."
"I swear!" I hold out my pinky to him. He gives me a small smile and links his pinky with mine & I promise. He smiled at me so I know he truly isn't angry with me so I hug him again.
"You also need to tell me who did that to you."
"Carla. She likes you and wants me to give you her dumb notes. I told her no and now she don't like me. You're Billy Mine, not hers."
"Yea, Bun, I'm not hers," again with a soft smile. "Look, I gotta take you back early. There's something I need to do." Not wanting to get Billy more angry, I obey without making a fuss.
I don't know what Billy did to Carla, but she gave me a wide berth. She wouldn't even look at me anymore which was fine by me.
*****
Billy was always my hero. He loved me & looked after me. He was, to a naïve and stubborn 8 year old, Prince Charming. As in all fairy tales, it's not real. It always comes to an end. At that age I was clueless on the urges of horny 16 year old boys. Billy hadn't come by for my visit. I escaped the ward & went to look for Billy. Only to find him wrapped up in Jessica. The kisses I thought should have been mine when I was older, he gave freely away to her. Sweet words of love, calling her beautiful & his.
I look back on it now and I can laugh at it, but that night I was destroyed. I had thought my heart was irrevocably broken. My love, my dreams...shattered. For the past 5 years, I lived and breathed Billy Russo. I had been in love with him for more than half of my young life. Jessica was always sweet and nice to me, but I wanted to kill her.
I attacked them both. They were no match for a feral 8 year old. They were too concerned with covering up naked body parts and trying to prevent me from gouging his girlfriend's eyes out. "Stop it, Juliet! What the fuck are you doing?" Billy gave me a teeth rattling shake. I fell to the ground, kicking up into his groin. He dropped to his knees, incapacitated so I could make my escape.
I didn't want to stay at the Home any longer, but I couldn't run away. I had nowhere to go. Billy came looking for me, but I hid or avoided him. I felt a little joy seeing Jessica scratched up by my nails. She'd heal and be just as beautiful as she was before. I could always feel when Billy's eyes were on me or if he was near, my skin would break out in goose bumps. When I recognized that feeling, I knew to make myself scarce. He betrayed me and I wanted nothing to do with him.
I was determined to get out. Families wanted well-behaved children, so I became well-behaved. There was a couple that would frequently come to visit. Ms. Christina was my teacher when I first got there. She was always really nice. I like her. She recently started bringing her husband around. I never paid attention to them because I wanted to stay here with Billy. I wasn't tethered to him anymore. The next time they visited, I tried to pay attention & behave for them.
Patrick & Christina Ellis. I owe them so much. They changed my life. I would be nothing without them. Patrick was a Judge with the NY County Supreme Court which eventually lead him into politics. Christina was a school teacher. They weren't able to have any children of their own. I thank my lucky stars that they were ok with adopting an older child and they didn't want a baby. They started fostering me and then I got adopted. I went home with them & I never returned to Ray of Hope.
Billy was there the day I left. I felt him, but I refused to look at him. It helped that I was still so angry at him. Christina sat with me in the backseat of their car. I snuck a look once Patrick started driving away. Billy was standing at the side of the house watching me leave. Christina held me & let me cry. It was the last time I thought I'd ever see Billy Mine.

100 Tales from Australia’s Most Haunted Places by Ben Pobjie
Tumblr media
Read time: 4 Days Rating: 5/5 Stars
The quote: For as long as human beings have been dying, they have been turning into ghosts. Or maybe they haven't. That's the great thing about ghosts: nobody knows if they're real, so they are endlessly entertaining, like Bigfoot or Elon Musk. — Introduction
Warnings: We are talking ghosts here and it often takes bad stuff to create a ghost. So some warnings: death, murder, suicide, torture, racism, classism and ableism. Among possibly other things.
Okay, I should probably start with where I stand on ghosts real or not. My stance on ghosts basically comes down to a quote from a book "I'm not sure whether I believe in ghosts, but two centuries worth of suffering has to leave a mark." (Billy, The Little Wartime Library). In Australia's case, it's not two centuries our Anglo-Saxon history doesn't go back that far but the point stands. Essentially I'm not above believing in ghosts because of human suffering.
I'm very glad I read this. Ben Pobjie has a fantastic sense of humour (he is a comedian, so massive shock that), and that sense of humour lands in all the right places to keep the mood where it should be. Some of these tales are truly dark, the humour is necessary to lighten to mood. Though I did find myself wondering what was with the (joking) hate on Tassie, and to a lesser degree South Australia. Don't get me wrong I laughed but I found myself curious. I found this to be quite informative in its own way. I have an interest in anthropology and this scratches that itch. It tells stories of everyday people and even ghosts are a part of that field. Some warnings for content death and murder are possibly to be expected in a book about ghosts, it takes death to create a ghost and suicide and torture are others that may be unsurprising. Other warnings that might be less obvious include racism (because you know Australia), classism (because British Empire) and ableism (because 19th century everything). Ben Pobjie is not an author I'd read before, though I do want to read more.
I appreciate the introduction it sets the tone and engages the reader. Pobjie gives his potential reasons for the belief in ghosts. They're pretty on point. The first entry is important, it is the one that grabs the reader and sets the tone. Nurse Kerry, about Aradale Lunatic Asylum, is the right choice. She is perfectly distressing. Not that her patients are sunshine and rainbows. The Bushranger Hotel feels like an odd choice to end on. But it does reference something Australia is known for, Bushrangers (in specific Ben Hall and Jack Dunn) and leaves the reader with a friendly and helpful ghost in the Quirks. The two of them are the right kind of entries to bookend the book. They balance well asylums and pubs are both common in the book, even more so when you look at them as a place of incarceration vs a place of rest and relaxation. I did find it to be quite well organised. The places that had multiple entries were spread out, the types of ghosts are varied and not repetitive in their order. Each chapter is two or three pages long with a relevant title, either the ghosts name, the location or a joke, under that is the geographic location by town and state. If the location isn't in the title it is usually in one of the first two paragraphs. It all just works so well.
Some quotes and comments. It's not for all of them but there are quite a few.
• Frederick Carr was hanged in 1929 at Adelaide Gaol. He's an oddly jovial ghost despite the injustices against him. He was hanged for the murder of his wife Maud. He's presentation has changed over time. Going from faceless to having a face and no one knows why. I just like that he's not angry.
• There is an intriguing dichotomy to the young ladies of Young & Jackson's the nameless ghost and Chloé. One is highly celebrated and prized while the other is nameless, lost and alone.
• The former denizens of the old convict settlement close in around you, insistent and suffocating, as soon as you arrive. If you can't hear them, you can feel them: the souls of thousands of the tortured, the abused and the murdered. The very air is weighted and perfumed with the pain and anger and sadness of a place built specifically to inflict those things. — I love this quote okay it's just so visceral. I like the way Port Arthur is managed. There are only a couple of brief examples. It feels like a yeah of course there are bloody ghosts here. It was a place of death and misery. (p.11, Ghosts of Port Arthur). Much the same thing is done with The North Head Quarantine Station, though there the story of the Gravedigger's cottage.
• There is something highly amusing about Pobjie not rant exactly but a paragraph that could have gone there about darkrooms being extremely spooky. I had never thought of it.
• Late one night, early in his residence, Bishop Trower awoke to find his bedroom awash with an unearthly light. The illumination emanated from a man who had, rather impolitely, entered his bedchamber without so much as a by-your-leave. — In the same chapter but a different point. There is something highly amusing about a pearl, The Rosinate Pearl, having vaguely homicidal tendencies. That (perhaps fictional) pearl has quite a high body count. (p.17, The Pearl Buyer of Broome)
• The Liftman is written in an interesting way. It's the only one written from a dual perspective and I like it.
• Under the laws of the time, suicide, or felo-de-se ('felon of himself' in Latin) was a crime equivalent to murder, — I knew this law existed but I never knew the Latin for it. What I found more interesting was that being found guilty of felo-de-se allowed the state to seize your assets. Francis Grote also has a pretty good ghost. (p.26, The Huntsman of Rostrevor)
• Catherine Spense broke my heart but she is exactly the kind of woman you aspire for your daughters to be.
• And to this day, every November, Campbelltown celebrates the Fisher's Ghost Festival, an event which brings together the whole town to celebrate community and ghosts. — This celebration is kinda weird to me, and I'm guessing a lot of others. Fisher has only had one appearance, unfinished business and all that. He's a bit different among this collection. (p.35, Fisher's Ghost)
• It could be that the sandhills themselves are simply replaying their own memory of the nightmare that descended upon them that chilly autumn night. — The feel of the unknown in the sandhills. It's different, and I like the imagery. (p.38, The Murdering Sandhills)
• I adore Albert Ogilvie so much as a ghost. He was a legend as a man too.
• Even in the olden days, when hanging people was more a fun family day out than a law-enforcement technique, slipping the noose around a female neck was something not done lightly. — This is about Martha Rendell and my response was essentially Jesus Christ you what? (p.43, The Stepmother from Hell)
• Marybank's protective ghosts are great. Allowing themselves to be heard but not seen by the occupants of the house, the descendants of the first family, the Fox's. But more than willing to reveal themselves to guests. It's a bit of a quirk among the entries.
• the Miracle House of Guildford in Western Sydney is fascinating. If you believe the story (and this one I am sceptical of) Mike Tannerous fulfilled his life goal to help people. I had to laugh when I read this entry though. Just days ago my mother and I were talking about canonisation in the Catholic church.
• The fact that Old Tailem Town was constructed Frankenstein-style, from historic buildings from elsewhere, means that it occupies a unique place among ghostly locations. Rather than being haunted by those who died on the spot, spirits have been trucked in from myriad other spots to rub shoulders on the pioneer village. — They are some pretty unique ghosts though. I do like the idea of a Frankenstein-style construction of a town. (p.75-6, Terror of Tailem Town)
• I am absolutely unsurprised that the Old Melbourne Goal is in here. The ghost of choice is Cell 17, a notorious and extremely physical ghost. I do quite appreciate Ned Kelly's silence on spectral matters.
• Quinn's Light is fascinating. But questions... I have questions.
• Indeed, as there are plenty of other spirits haunting the North Kapunda Hotel — hence its 'most haunted' appellation — the Man in Black likes to keep busy menacing them as well. It's a rare and particularly obnoxious ghost who devotes his time to spooking other spooks, but that's the Man in Black all over: a total jerk. — The North Kapunda Hotel is the place with the most entries. Dr Blood (no seriously his real name), The Man in Black, Sarah and Emily and her sister. They are all different and I like that are all here. The Man in Black is a total jerk and I kinda like it. (p.102, The Man in Black)
• But seriously: if you want to know how terrifying an old maternity hospital can be, just think about babies. Lots of babies. Crying. Screaming, sobbing, wailing. In the night. — Nope, nope, nope. How about nope. (p.104, The Evil Matron)
• I'd heard of George Grover, convict and all-round toss pot. But I didn't know he went ghost.
• Adelaide Arcade has more than a few ghosts, but us was the family case that got me.
• I'm honestly not surprised Mad Dan Morgan has a ghost and a nasty one at that. And that is two headless horsemen in Australia. What does surprise me is the lack of bushrangers with ghosts in general. It kinda gives a beaten by the better men or death wish to their life choices/ actions.
• George Ferguson Bowen had a well travelled and illustrious career. That his ghost settled in Brisbane makes me wonder... why?
• I appreciate the inclusion of the modern ghosts in The Road to Capalaba. I wish we knew their story. But in a way not having it is even better. Because they could be everyone.
• There are three chapters on The spooks of Monte Christo, with Monte Christo being a Homestead in Junee, New South Wales. They are all very different ghosts. The maid that found herself in a delicate condition was completely unsurprising fukn men in power. But it is Harold, Harold that broke me. Instead, going by the most cutting-edge medical and psychological advice available at the time, they decided to help Harold to live a rich and fulfilling life by chaining him to a wall. (p.140, ) Hahaha... NO. He was chained to a wall for 40 years. 🤬 No wonder he became a ghost. It was horrifying. The only shock is that he's a friendly ghost. As in he just was to make friends 😢.
• Melbourne's Princess Theatre opened in December 1886 and has been haunted since March 1888. That's impressive. I didn't know about the vacant seat tradition. Though it is hardly the only theatre with that kind of tradition.
• How have I never heard Elizabeth Scott's story before now (Poor Elizabeth Scott)? Hanged at the Old Melbourne Goal in 1863 for conspiring to kill her husband. She was married off to her husband at 13 (a little young even for the time) and of course, he was an abusive pos. The shotgun blast to his head fixed that malady (good). And because I can't resist.
• But there's something sweet and hopeful about the sight of Blanche and Dave wandering St Mark's together, because that's exactly what they are: together. Being a ghost seems like a lonely lifestyle, and all the moreso for a child. If these two youngsters, talked by tragedy and separated by six decades, have in afterlife found each other, their friendship might b cause for uplift in that grim and sombre place. —(p.178, The Cemetery Children)
• Sometimes the presentation of the ghost feels like true indication of the rest of their story. Like the milliner mourning her own death in the fashions of the day and in the art (trade if you must) that was her life.
• All countries have ghost stories, but only one turned a ghost story into its most popular patriotic song. Of course, 'Waltzing Matilda' isn't just a ghost story: it's also a cheerful tale of suicide and depending on your point of view an account of either justice or injustice done. —I really like all the falsehoods in the song but that original story should not be forgotten. (p188, And His Ghost My Be Heard...)
• I'm pleased there are ghost animals in here. Animals may be more disconcerting than humans.
• The hangings at the Old Windmill (Brisbane) in July 1841 were horrifying. If you want to hang someone hang them, not whatever that was.
• The current proprietors of the Albany Convict Gaol have, in the interests of giving their customers value for money in the frights department, adorned the rooms of the old building with a variety of dummies of frankly nightmarish aspect. They set them in chairs to stare at you so that when you turn to go into a room, you jump out of your skin and let out an embarrassingly high-pitched nose because there's some kind of deformed evil gypsy watching you with one bulging eye. —The book actually contains an image of one of the mannequins and they scare me more than any ghost in that place could I think. (p.242, The Black Hole) There are baby cries... baby cries in a convict gaol? I think not thank you. It's just so very wrong. The title The Black Hole is a sensory deprivation cell. Again no thank you. And I'm pretty sure they are still used.
• Oh man, the ghosts in Steiglitz outnumber the people... by quite a way.
• I did not know that Australia even had a monastic town, let alone that it had its own guardian ghost. New Norcia in W.A. was settled by Spanish Benedictine Monks in 1847. The ghost, known as The Blue Nun, is that of Sister Maria Harispe.
• The best known and most seen of Gaiety's cast of spirits is Ava, the theatre's proud addition to the pantheon of little-girl ghosts. — Honestly Ava sounds kinda adorable. She just kinda ignores people and goes about her business. (p.261, Ghosts of the Gaiety) There really in a pantheon little-girl ghosts. I'm just going to put a couple of them here. The little girl at Larundel Asylum is so heartbreaking, her music box would be disturbing though. The young girls at Spook Cemetery are horrifying. As much as more of these places would be great to visit not his one. You need nice hands. The last little-girl ghost we meet is at the Coach & Horses, she just wants friends, appearing mostly to children.
• Determinig whether the Royal Derwent Hospital, popularly known as Willow Court is haunted is a relatively simple process. Just ask the question, 'Is Willow Court Australia's oldest mental health facility?' If the answer is 'yes,' then OF COURSE, IT'S HAUNTED, YOU IDIOT. I mean, surely we know by know: if it's old and it once housed the mentally ill, there will be ghosts fizzing about inside it. — There is so much going on at this place nearly all of it bad. 'Asylum's abortion chair' is just three words that do not belong together here, unsurprisingly that chair has its own ghost. (p.263, Winston of Ward 5)
• It's interesting The Poinciana Woman echoes a few female folk tales globally. A huge injustice was committed against her I'm glad that the tale exists. Like so many of her sister tales she has become both a caregiver and an angel of vengeance.
• And they stare at you with their lifeless eyes, as if you say, 'As soon as you turn your back is turned, we are going to jump you and sink our mannequin fangs into your tender flesh like those statues from Doctor Who.' — I really did not expect a Faraway Tree. Yeah, they are pretty damn odd. Oh and we get this Doctor Who reference in the same entry as a treat. What other Doctor Who monster are we going to reference other than Weeping Angels. (p. 93, The Grouch Major)

I find it a bit laughable or at the very least ironic at times that for the longest time prior to joining this fandom, I rp'ed and portrayed a character with a majority (and sometimes all or more) of the qualities that Billy antis warn and complain that he has. And yah know what? I was one of the most popular OC character blogs in the Hobbit and LOR fandom at the time.
For approximately 5 years, I portrayed a (mostly) cishet white male OC. He was rich and entitled. He took whatever he wanted whenever he wanted it. He felt like the world owed him everything. Why? Because his father was the Lakemaster of Laketown and also because my muse believed he was rather exceptional in his own right as well.
He was an asshole. He stole items from vendors and never paid for things. Demanded the good life because of his status. He slept with whomever he wanted and felt that buying affection was just as easy if not simpler than true acts of kindness. When he did catch feelings for someone he'd try to chase them away or he'd literally hide in his mansion and not come out (v. dramatic guy I know). He could be laughably pathetic at times. Highly competitive. Spiteful. Fiery. Sexy. Naive. Villainous. Annoying.
He was a raging misogynist. He believed with his whole chest every gender-based stereotype that there was to believe. Sure he may have been chivalrous... but he also believed that women couldn't wield a sword to save their lives. He would pour on the charm the minute he saw someone worth pursuing, but act bored or entirely disinterested when they weren't his type. He may have gone back for sloppy seconds if he was desperate, but he was prideful and always believed that anyone he fucked would come crawling back to him and never the other way around....
He was a bigot. He was highly highly, and I'll stress again. Highly privileged. And yet because he did face some circumstances of adversity, and because he did have a raucous upbringing... he then believed even more so that he had to a believable degree worked hard for his allotment in life. It was very hard for him to not look down his nose at transient or traveling characters he interacted with. He was highly mistrustful of the dwarves when they returned to Laketown. And he was in constant competition with Bard the Bowman (even though that man was nearly 10 years older than himself).
He also had a quick temper. He absolutely hated being compared to his father, even though he rode that man's coattails in life and was too naive to recognize it. He would brashly threaten or challenge others to duels if they pushed this issue. He would sooner die than become his father, even though that's exactly what he was doing... Living off the backs of the townspeople. Living it up whilst others scraped by. Blaming people's misfortunes on moral faults rather than on things he may have actually had a hand in.
He was vain. The blondest curliest mane to ever appear on a mortal in Middle Earth. He adorned himself in velvet capes and long silken feathers. And absolutely adored baubles and would pass one to a lover to pin them down. Because he was horrendous with words and believed if the jewel was heavy enough that might make them stay. They never did. He had at least 12 children though.
Why was he such a terrible person? Aside from the fact that his father was also a horrible person? Well, I'll tell you... His mother left you see. It's not entirely clear whether she truly "left" or if she died. I left that open to interpretation, but I allowed my muse to grow up in a household seeded by a marriage of necessity and harvested in discord. His mother simply disappeared after one evening when he was 8 years old, and he never knew why. His father incessantly told him, whenever he asked that it was because she didn't love him and that she was a "whoring wench." Shortly thereafter when he was 10 years old, his father sent him away to Gonder for military training. In reality, his father just wanted him gone. He didn't return to his home until 11 years later. I framed his trauma history around his parents being highly volatile with one another, but my muse not typically being pulled into it. I had one or two scenarios where he tried to intervene on his mother's behalf and his father ended up locking him away in his room for nearly two days (bc he had forgotten he did it). Once his mother left, his father didn't really care for him as a boy, saw him as in the way of his daily duties, and thus sent him off. His relationship with his father is a mixed one of resentment (not quite hatred) as his father has always been more absorbed in his money and his job than anything else, loyalty/fealty he feels he owes as a son, duty because he's being trained to take over the city eventually, but also not fully realizing he was neglected in his childhood.
My lovely Destrian of Esgaroth. ❤️

Ok first off i wanna say i love aws! SO to say I was very nervous when you started uploading the sequel was an understatement bc. The premise scared me!!! I did enjoy awr but at some parts it felt rushed :/ aws felt more robust with the things that happened. In some chapters it felt like things were rushing for the plot to start unraveling and once it did it felt as if we weren’t delving into the actions of reader/billy. And honestly i didn’t like the ending (ik i’m the worst!) i just expected. More??? I don’t see where billy really understands/feels remorse for whats happened to reader. I didn’t feel like he took any accountability towards how she had to be because of him. It felt like reader grew a LOT and billy just. Didn’t. I would have also liked to see more about billy in regards to how he felt. Like his scars never come up in depth, the idea of reader not being who billy wants visually is touched upon but i would have liked to see the tables turned. It never felt like reader was in charge, even when she was traveling in the last chapter, it felt like billy was repeatedly coming to her rescue which i HATED cause reader is so headstrong! Maybe this is so extra but i also thought that maybe reader would have known fisk bc i vaguely remember her life in chicago was one of survival so i was hoping she would be the one to get them out the mud (seeing that it was billy who ultimately saves her from krista..) even down to the phone call where he finally answers and it’s krista. I wanted billy and reader to really sift thru the dirt of their relationship but i just didn’t feel that :( and some parts just made me think that you really wanted to just finish the story. I would have even loved Billy having a heart to heart w frank or curtis… maybe even davina bc it just felt like every interaction with reader he was hostile to addressing how much damage he truly did to reader. The gala chapter & chapter 11 were my favorite though. Please dont hate Me haq :( i know a lot of people tapped out of the sequel early. But i love reader and billy so much. Now for my second message where i tell u everything i loved
I don't hate you. it's okay to be disappointed, your feelings are valid!
The only thing I can really say is that AWR was never about Billy's growth, it was always about the Reader. Billy's growth was captured in AWS but in terms of an emotional growth he reached his limits in that story. He fell in love with someone who saw teh real him and his whole trajectory changed. In AWR, he shifted sideways when he returned to his immature self and it was about getting him back to being the person he was in the end of AWS. Even him giving Reader space at the end of AWR wasn't him. That kind of love is not organic to him, and it took everything he had to be able to do that. I think that's the most we could expect out of him. He's not a good guy. He never will be. His life begins and ends with Reader and all he wants from this life is for their path to be inextricably linked.
I know my readers wanted him to grovel, to show remorse for who he was after the accident – but here’s the thing, he legitimately did not see that guy as himself. In his mind they were two different people. He can’t and won’t admit to being who that guy was. Because the guy after the accident was someone who never fell in love with Reader, and Billy is who he is now *because* of Reader. There is no him without her.
Reader, OTOH, had always thought her life would end if she ever lost the happiness she shared with Billy. I wanted to convey that even though life would be difficult again, and she’d go through a lot of grief (which wouldn’t always be linear), she would come to realize she *could* be happy again. His loss would be a devastating one but she could survive, and she could even thrive. In the end when she had time and space away from him, she realized she’d started to believe he was AWS Billy again and she chose to be with him on her own terms.
I think maybe why AWR didn’t live up to your expectations was because you, and maybe others, wanted me to show their love for each other was unconditional. But I genuinely don’t believe Billy and Reader’s love is unconditional.
They love each other only and as long as they’re on the same wavelength. They love each other on their own terms, and anything that threatens it (i.e Billy changing into someone else) means that love ends.
In AWS, they fell in love despite themselves. At the end of AWR, she chose that love. I’m probably doing a horrible job of explaining this – lol
I hope AWR didn’t sour you on AWS. If it helps, and I’m not sure it will, this is how I look at it - Billy can’t have a life without Reader. But Reader can, she just chooses to be with him because he truly makes her happy. If he was a different man, she wouldn’t love him.
Thank you so much!

final thoughts on stranger things
so as y'all know i finished stranger things last night so it is time for me to share my thoughts. this will probably mainly be about s4 and maybe s3 because those are the freshest on my mind but if i have anything to say about s1 and s2 i will
also imma be talking shit about some stuff because i can't live without talking shit
characters
as far as characters go i think the ones i love the most are lucas, max, will, eddie, steve, and robin. like i would literally fucking die for them if given the chance (same goes for el and dustin)
characters i fucking hate include mike, billy, jason, and dr. brenner. any time i see someone defending one of these people i question their sanity
and as far as like nancy and jonathan go i obviously love them but i don't love them as much as i love some of the characters listed above
i love joyce and hopper, if i could replace my parents with them i would
think that's about it for characters but i'll come back later if i think of anything
relationships between the characters
now
i don't know what to start with so i'm gonna start with some dynamics i like before i start shitting on the love triangles
i truly adore dustin's relationship with steve and eddie. like it's just so wholesome but like heartbreaking at the same time. dustin obviously doesn't have a father in his life (where is he??? will we ever find out???) so i feel like he looks up to steve and eddie and takes on some of their traits because they're like parental figures to him
i absolutely love max and lucas' relationship. like it is the best romantic relationship in the show besides joyce and hopper. they have my favorite dynamic of like the couple that makes sarcastic comments to each other all the time but you can just see the love in their eyes whenever they look at each other. all of season 4, every time lucas looked at max or he was checking up on her or something like that just made me want to cry because i knew it wasn't going to end well in terms of their relationship/max not getting hurt. definitely my favorite ship of the show
now there's a lot of debate about what the best brother relationship on tv is, but i'm here to settle it for y'all: it's will and jonathan. the love that these two share for each other is so strong it literally makes my heart hurt. like in season one, the way jonathan was so focused on finding will and how even when he wasn't talking about will or anything you could feel the stress radiating off his body. like he went to see his father who we know he hadn't seen since he left because he thought that lonnie had kidnapped will (also the way lonnie basically told us that he used to put hands on jonathan + the fact that jonathan checked his trunk as soon as he got there.... shitty dads should burn in hell). and then this season, when jonathan was watching and listening to will basically confess to mike, then he later talks to will and basically tells him that he'll love him no matter what and that he's sorry for being distant and that he's gonna try harder??? girl i wanted to fucking cry
joyce and hopper have my second favorite romantic relationship of the show. like from season one you just knew that they still had feelings for each other (i believe that they had feelings for each other in high school which is why i said still) like yeah it took 4 seasons for them to even kiss but honestly i'm fucking glad it did because that scene was so fucking cute and sweet n shit. i am excited (but very fucking nervous) to see what will happen to them in the next season (also the scene where murray reads them for filth??? fucking chef's kiss bitch)
now when it comes to the whole nancy, jonathan, and steve love triangle i am not ashamed to say that i am a hater. love triangles are so frustrating to me because it's either i love one guy and hate the other or i fucking love both of them but with this one... i don't like either of the potential couples. my main issue is the fact that when nancy is in a relationship with one she starts flirting with the other??? like girl your name is not elena gilbert or bella swan please don't do that shit. like why be in a relationship with one knowing damn well you got feelings for the other??? and as far as the boys go, despite me being the steve harrington stan that i am i will not be forgiving him for the shit he pulled in season one. and in this season with jonathan when he said he was basically avoiding her so he wouldn't have to break up with her cuz he didn't want to go to the same college with her i was like nigga you gotta be joking. like that's the worse plan ever, that shit never ends well for either people involved
when it comes to mike and el i will once again say that i am not ashamed to be a hater, but i think a lot of the problems i have with them come from my issues with mike. which obviously means that mike is the problem in the relationship. like the whole thing about mike being annoyed/upset for eleven for her hitting angela with the skate (as she fucking should've i would've done more) really pissed me off because why did he not have the same energy when she was defending him from his bullies???? and like don't get me wrong i totally understand being insecure in your relationship but literally all el wanted you to do was for you to tell her that you love her because she knows you've said it before
and as for mike and will.... girl i don't even know what to say about these two. like overall mike is just a very shitty friend in seasons 3 and 4 especially, and will and everyone else deserve way better than that. "it's not my fault you don't like girls" NIGGA WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH WILL MISSING YOUR FRIENDSHIP?!?! chile that scene enraged me to no end. and with the whole thing in the pizza van like how do you not clock the fact that will's words have a double meaning... like if he was genuinely your best friend you would notice that something was up because of his tone of voice. he doesn't have to know that will has feelings for him, but he should be able to tell that something was wrong
other dynamics i enjoy are el and hopper, dustin and lucas, murray and joyce, and max and el
other opinions
i think the trope of a character dying in the same season they're introduced in is so fucking stupid, and stranger things does this basically every season, but the one that bothered me most was eddie. maybe it's because i am way more attached to him than other characters that fall into this plot, but it's just so fucking lazy to me. i don't mind eddie finally being like "hey, you know what, i'm tired of running, i'm gonna stay and fight" because it's a great character arc- but if he fucking dies then what was the point??/ y'all doing this just so y'all don't have to kill one of the main characters?? and it was obvious that he was a sheep for slaughter because of all the "when i get out/once this is over" conversations. like i just don't know what to say anymore
i do not understand why billy has stans. like at all. i don't wanna hear any of that "but i love villains and he's a good villain" bullshit. billy hargrove is a racist abuser and is not someone you should be stanning. i hate that they tried to give him a sort of redemption arc by having him sacrifice himself, because that is not enough. for it to be a true redemption arc, there needs to be moments where the character goes "hmm maybe i shouldn't be doing this", then the sacrifical event, and then them making amends and fully changing their actions. if a character dies before they truly change, it's not a redemption arc, and therefore you should not be out here praising him. i felt absolutely nothing when he died
also if you're one of the people who believes that eddie and billy would be great friends if billy was still alive you are sorely mistaken. billy is a fucking bully and eddie is the town freak, none of their interactions would be positive
a lot of people started hating mike in season three but i started disliking him in season two because he was a dick to max every time she much as so breathed a way he didn't like
the wigs on this show are better than whatever the fuck marvel be putting on people's head
lucas and will lowkey have an underrated relationship and i would love to see more scenes of them together in season five
if more people listened to joyce and dustin this show would be so much shorter
concluding thoughts
overall i really enjoy this show, despite it's many problems and i'm glad i finally caved and started watching it. i cannot wait for the last season (think it's gonna be the last one right???) i'm very open to discussion and hope y'all are too cuz i wanna hear your thoughts! and if you wanna see my reactions click on the "kim watches st" tag!
