Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
content: jason grace x reader blurb warning: none! author's note: howdy guys!!! it feels like i've been gone but i know i really haven't, ya know??? i had a BLAST on my trip and am so so grateful i was able to go on it. but also, it was a nice break that has me missing writing, so hopefully more stuff is gonna be coming out soon...which will HOPEFULLY lead to me opening my request again. (not that some of yall deserve that frfr im looking at you, illegal anon's) ALSO KJ MY BELOVED YOURE LEGIT THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND YOU COULD PROBS DO THIS PROMPT SO MUCH MORE JUSTICE THAN ME BUT I APPRICIATE IT NONETHELESS POOKIE!!! anyways with all da love, from covey at the boston airport!!
jason, of all people, understood seeking validation. someone confirming that you were doing good and that you could be good. but, even he felt this was a bit extreme. you'd blocked him! something about even his profile picture being distracting.
he was determined to have you take a break. get some food, get something that wasn't coffee to drink, and perhaps jason could somehow cuddle you to sleep. he was plotting alright as he marched to the library, almost certain that's where you could be. when take came up fruitless, jason huffed his way out of the library and waved the librarian's offers of help off. you thought you could outsmart him, but jason knew you better than himself on most days.
"how the hades- you know what? don't answer that," you hissed as jason stood in front of you with his arms crossed. you pouted as your secret study spot had been discovered - well, it really wasn't all that secret. it was the rooftop of your apartment but still! it was supposed to be a space undisturbed by the son of jupiter that was eager to steal you away from your studies.
"c'mon," jason replied, nodding his head towards the door of your bedroom. you simply gave him a pointed look before returning to your laptop. your fingers reached for the keys but then it was slammed shut by a suspiciously strong breeze. you frowned up at the boy who hadn't moved an inch but his foot was starting to tap like an angry mother.
"jase," you whined, dragging out the last vowel in hopes the longer you held the note, the more likely he was to give in. you were wrong as jason simply raised a brow at you.
"just thrity minutes," jason offered but you squinted at him in suspicion. jason then held his hand out to you, gentle and welcoming. you sighed but took his hand into yours, allowing him to pull you up and out of the homework mountain you've created. he helped you pack, muttering about the weather getting too cold soon and how you should study inside your apartment. you let him, knowing your backpack wouldn't be unzipped until the next day but continuing to play the part of 'opositional girlfriend.'
you let him lead you into the apartment and fix you up some snack as you curled up on the couch, your favorite movie play suspiciously at just the right time. you didn't need to ask questions as you knew this wasn't some accident or twist of fate based off the little twitch of jason's scar, a sure sign of scheming.
the sweet boy served you without even needing to be told what you wanted, somehow he always had a knack for just knowing. then he sat down next to you on the couch and you rolled your eyes as he could read him like a book. but, you let the roman boy have his fun. over the next ten minutes, he slowly inched closer to you. then, he threw his arm over the back of the couch, still yet to look in your direction. and to finish off the theatrics, a chill drifted through the apartment, which did, admittedly, have you leaning into the boy's warm side.
next thing you knew, a blanket was pulled up to your chin and your eyelids were drooping.
"homework cockblock," you muttered into jason's chest but cuddled closer nonetheless.
"you'll thank me later," jason mused back in reponse before running his hands through your hair and gently scratching at your scalp, the final nail in the coffin as you fluttered your eyes shut to sleep against your roman boy. and you didn't dream of late assignments or failing classes, but rather of the stunning blonde boy you was always looking out for you, college drop out or not.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks so much for the tag @zsparz !!!💖
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
166!
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
2.013.111. I write when I‘m stressed, can you tell?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly the MCU. Frostiron my beloved 💕 I recently posted a Huskerdust fic, though, and a couple years ago I posted some Good Omens stuff! I have another Good Omens wip brewing, but I haven‘t worked on it in a while.
4. Top five fics by kudos
First one up would be Your Call, a multi-chaptered ABO Frostiron thing that‘s sadly unfinished because I‘m not happy with where it was going somehow. Then Corners of Reality, my baby, Yes or No, Dereliktion and last but not least Vita Nova!
5. Do you respond to comments?
God I try. I’m so bad at it though. On long fics I always answer comments on the last chapter when I post the new one, but I keep forgetting to reply to comments on older chapters or oneshots😭 They all mean the world to me though.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ohh I wrote a few angsty oneshots but it‘s been a while. Maybe Here, that‘s the most recent one. Of the older ones I remember all my light most clearly. Tony is dead or dying in both of these lol, poor Loki.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I like to think the happiest endings in stories are ones you had to fight for a little bit, so maybe Dereliktion. That was a long ride filled with angst and messed up relationships lol. I think Haywire (my first and so far only Sentinel/Guide fic, I love that trope a lot akfj) also has a pretty fluffy ending, and I have some oneshots that are pretty much all fluff!!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Occasionally? Just the other day I got another anon ask on here complaining about my recent stories. Makes me extra thankful for everyone who takes the time to tell me they enjoy my stuff!!💖
9. Do you write smut?
I do! Pretty much all the time lol. I love writing Dom/sub relationships!
10. Craziest crossover?
I don‘t think I‘ve ever written one before?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yesss. I‘m not sure if they just didn’t know any better though, they deleted the copied parts as soon as I told them.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!! I‘m always so happy when that happens!!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Also yes. One year I did a whole Frostiron Advent calendar with @rabentochter (do you remember this????? How did we have the time??????? Insane) and we wrote a few more collabs beyond that.
14. All time favorite ship?
Frostiron!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my sassy messed up geniuses lol
15. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Uhhh I‘ve got a few. I‘d like to finish/rewrite Your Call. Once I also had the cracky fever dream of Loki doing random standup comedy shows in New York because he‘d KILL that. Can you imagine the sarcasm. The gallow‘s humor. Anyway I started that and then realized I Cannot Write Standup Routines at all. So there‘s that.
16. What are your writing strengths?
What I like to write the most is character and relationship development, so hopefully I‘m decent at that? Also dialogue, I hope, but that kinda comes and goes depending on the conversation.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I kinda suck thinking of longish plot that goes beyond “will they kiss?? Will they FUCK???” so I’ve been trying to practice that. Also scenes with lots of action😭
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I like it. I’ve been wanting to write a fic where Tony can properly show off his language skills but I don’t know enough languages to pull that off lol
19. First fandom you wrote in?
The VERY first was Dracula, back when I was 13 or so. I had a big thing for van Helsing back then. My first fandom on ao3 was Once Upon a Time!!
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ooohhh. That would be Corners of Reality, because I worked on it for years before I even started posting it and I love how it turned out. It’s a slow burn time travel enemies to friends to almost lovers to enemies to friends to lovers to enemies to allies to lovers fic. I had SO much fun writing it I still think about it all the time😭😭
I’m just gonna tag some writers I know are on here: @endlessstairway @xottan @izhunny @arabesqueangel @bouncydragon no pressure though!! And if you see this and you’re a writer please consider yourself tagged!!💖

The Byers-Harrington Story
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Byers! Female Reader
Genre: follows the shows plot lines, but will have moments that it diverges canon.
Warnings: some cussing, there is two slurs at the very beginning (i used show dialog, i used a different word in place of f**), Lonnie being a deadbeat. should be it.
WC: 3.6K (the most I’ve ever written)
Summary: Will Byers has gone missing, so of course his family is worried and looking for him. Now what happens when one unsuspecting Byers family member gets pulled into this dungeons and dragons mystery along with an old middle school crush? Romance hopefully.
A/N: this is a female reader, i do use she/her pronouns. I’m sorry I’ll try and get better with my writing and making sure i don’t use female pronouns too much so everyone could feel as included as possible. also if you reblog this story let me know if theres anything you would like to see in future installments. I’m going to try and start writing part two hopefully this week. I also have work coming up soon so it will be a bit harder to get more installments done, but I’m trying. I’m gonna try and get season one parts done hopefully by the end of august. also yes there will be parts that are mostly focusing on the byers because this is a byers read so of course they are going to be worried about their family and stuff.
next chapter
Tumblr media
The day your little brother went missing was when your world was thrown around like the inside of a tornado; everything was off balance, thrown around, and a disaster.
One major thing was being thrown into the strong, charming, and handsome gravitational pull of one Steve Harrington.
Oh, also monsters, a girl with telepathic powers, government conspiracies, and an alternative dimension called ‘the upside down’; but all those things become crazier later as time moves.
Your little brother Will Byers had gone missing for about 10 hours. He was only 12 years old, a tiny boy compared to many others in his grade. It’s the fall moving into winter time meaning it gets colder at night, meaning he shouldn’t be running around in the woods or something.
Your mom and you went to Chief Hopper and asked if he could help look into Will’s sudden disappearance and started to question if your dad might know anything. The thought of Will going to see your dad made you laugh inside, but you only showed your disdain for that thought with a light scoff.
“No, Lonnie wouldn’t know anything about where Will is,” your mom spoke to the Chief.
“He’s a deadbeat and doesn’t care about any of us, especially Will. Always calling him names like queer and fairy,” you spoke out.
The Chief and Joyce both turned to look at you when you spoke almost like they forgot you were in the room. Joyce just placed one of her hands on your thigh that was closest to her and rubbed her thumb back and forth while her other hand held a lit cigarette. You noticed that the Chief was still looking at you, his gaze made you shrink in on yourself a bit, remembering that you spoke out in front of adults.
“Are you saying that this could be a hate crime of some sort?”
“What?”
“Well, she said that Lonnie called him names and you said he was getting bullied at school,” the Chief replied to the both of you.
“Look Hop, I don’t know, all I know is that my baby boy is somewhere out there all by himself probably scared to death,” Joyce firmly replied.
The Chief, Hopper, leaned his elbows onto his wood desk and ran his hands over his face, stroking his beard. You could see his eyes moving back and forth between you and Joyce, watching the both of you, probably analyzing your emotions that were displayed openly to the world on your faces.
He sighed out after about a minute of silence and everyone’s breathing, “okay I’ll see what I can find.”
You both just sighed out then left the office, leaving the station and heading home. Neither you nor Jonathan wanted to go to school today, the three of you decided to search the woods surrounding your home and make a missing person poster.
The following day Chief Hopper stopped by the house early in the morning wanting to talk with your mom again, still wanting to follow the Lonnie lead, even though all three of you knew it was a waste of time.
Jonathan made the three of you breakfast which consisted of eggs and toast, which is the usual most days. Joyce was smoking again, something the three of you (you, Jonathan, and Will) wish she would stop, but it’s a nervous habit of hers.
“What? No, be careful of the poster.”
“Yeah, okay. All right,” Jonathan replied.
Joyce just stared at the plate of eggs and toast Jonathan placed in front of her, not bothering to pick up a slice of food.
“I can’t eat.”
“Mom please, just a little?” you asked of her, not wanting to watch your mom not take care of herself.
She just looked at Jonathan like you didn’t even say anything, you just sighed onto your plate.
“Listen. Listen, the Xerox place opens in, like, 30 minutes,” she says as she checks her watch for the time.
“Yeah.”
“And I don’t want you to go alone…”
“I’ll go with him,” you spoke up around a mouth full of eggs.
Joyce and Jonathan turned their heads in your direction then they turned to look at each other, having a silent conversation between their eyes. It looked like Joyce was about to say something before Jonathan spoke up.
“Yeah that's fine, I’ll drop you off at school after.”
You just nodded your head and went back to eating, but Joyce still looked apprehensive about you going and spoke up, “no I’ll have Karen take Jonathan instead since you should be at school and I need to be here.”
“Mom-”
“Mom, it's fine.”
She looked between the both of you and just sighed and threw her hands up into an ‘alright’ gesture.
“We need to make, what, 200, 300 copies?”
“That’s ten cents a copy mom.”
You could see Joyce starting to get more frazzled and slowly losing the loose hold of her emotions, her hands shaking as she reaches for her wallet.
“Mom,” you whispered while grabbing her hand.
Jonathan placed a hand on her shoulder, “you can’t get like this, okay?”
“I’m sorry,” she sniffled out to both of you.
“It’s okay mom, we’ll get through this and get Will back,” you stated.
The three of you just sat in silence for a moment, your plates of cold eggs and toast not being touched by anyone. The moment was broken by the knocking on the front door bringing your attention away. Joyce got up from the table, Jonathan and yourself just a few steps behind her as she opened the door to Chief Hopper looking solemn with his hat held between his hands.
“We’ve been waiting for six hours.”
“I’m sorry I got here as soon as I could.”
“Six hours,” Joyce repeated.
“Mom, just let him tell us what they found, okay?” you spoke from just a step behind her trying to make sure she doesn’t have some type of breakdown.
Hopper sighed, “we’ve been searching all night. Went all the way to Cartersville.”
Joyce bunched her shoulders high while wringing her hands together, “and?”
“Nothing,” Hopper said quietly.
“Oh god,” Joyce cried out.
You pulled your mom into a hug for her sake, but also yours since you didn’t want to start crying at this moment.
Hopper cleared his throat, “Flo says you got a call last night.”
Joyce sniffled and replied with a “yeah” and brought him over to the burnt landline.
After a kinda tense conversation regarding the nature of the phone call, Hopper brought up Lonnie again and decided he’s gonna check him out.
“You’re wasting your time,” Joyce shouted out to a retreating Hopper.
Joyce just sighed out for probably the 30th time that day and retreated into the kitchen. You were following just behind her when you noticed Jonathan walking out the front door and closing it quietly. You furrowed your brows for a moment then decided you’ll ask him about that when you leave.
You walk up to your mom who was back to sitting at the kitchen table with another cigarette lit between her lips while she was looking at Will’s missing persons poster. Her breaths were coming out shaky every time she exhaled puffs of smoke, tears slowly making their way out of her tear ducts and gently falling down the curve of her cheeks and nose bridge. You squat down to the floor, placing your hands on her knees knowing she needed to be reminded of you and Jonathan.“Mom, everything is going to be okay, I’ll make sure of it.”
“Oh honey,” was all she got out before you engulfed her with a lung-breaking hug.
You heard Jonathan before you saw him. You pulled away from your mom and gave her a quick kiss on the crown of her head and grabbed the poster along with your school bag, heading out the front door with Jonathan just behind you. When he got into his car and started the engine was when you decided to bring up the topic.
“So what did you talk about with Hopper earlier?”
Jonathan barely moved his head in your direction at your comment, just a slight side eye. His gaze stayed focused on the road, all the way to the Xerox place. When the two of you were inside the place waiting for your stack of copied posters, you posed the question again to Jonathan and did not take silence for any type of answer.
“I’m gonna visit Lonnie after I drop you off,” was Jonathan’s curt reply to your pestering. It took you a moment to process what he just said to you because why would he be going to Lonnie’s unless “is that what you were talking to Hopper about?”
He just gave you a side eye to your question giving you information that you didn’t know “he said not to, didn’t he?”
Still no verbal answer to either question, but Jonathan doesn’t talk much anyway. Though after years of living together you were able to read his tells, side eyes and being even quieter were usual his tells for most things that he was trying to keep secret.
“Well if you’re going to Lonnie’s, I’m joining.”
That got Jonathan’s undivided attention making him whip his head so fast at your statement, it’s surprising he didn’t get whiplash. You just kept your steady gaze on his blown-out look like he saw a ghost. Jonathan was about to open his mouth, probably to tell you ‘it’s not happening, not in a million years,’ but the nice lady at the counter came back with your poster and the copies interrupting Jonathan. You thanked her with a nice smile and grabbed the stack and walked away in the direction of the exit to head to the car.
“(Y/n),” Jonathan finally spoke up when the both of you left the store.
You didn’t even turn your head, pretending to not acknowledge that he said your name, and just stood on the passenger side of the car waiting for Jonathan to open his side.
“(Y/n)-” “No Jonathan, we both know what a piece of shit Lonnie is so I’m not letting you go over there by yourself. End of discussion.”
And it was, Jonathan just sighed and got into the car to drive to the school.
When the car was parked in Jonathan’s spot you both grabbed a couple of posters and went inside. You and Jonathan both split up and would be back up by the entrance within 10 minutes. You pinned a few posters on cork boards that were mounted onto the halls and even gave a few to the office to see if they could pass them out. When you were satisfied with how many you got out you started back towards the entrance of the school when you skidded to a stop.
Jonathan was pinning a poster up and just a few feet away there they were. Tommy H., his girlfriend Carol, Nancy Wheeler, Barb Holland, and the King of Hawkins high himself Steve Harrington. All five of them just watched Jonathan behind his back, as you were walking closer you could hear a little bit of their conversation.
“I don’t think he speaks.”
“How much do you want to bet he killed him?” Tommy H’s dumbass spoke up.
Your blood started to boil at the fact they were making fun of your missing brother and assumed that Jonathan killed him. You started to storm over to their little group just as you saw Steve shove Tommy with his elbow and told him to shut up. Just as you were behind them you saw Nancy walk away and over to Jonathan. You tapped Tommy H on his shoulder to draw his attention towards you and with an unsuspecting smile, you slapped him across the face. You didn’t care if you got in trouble, no one talks badly about your family.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Tommy shouted while holding his cheek with one hand.
“If I hear you talk about my family like you did just now, it will be a lot worse than a slap Tommy,” and you walked away.
“Are we sure you didn’t have something to do with his disappearance?” you heard Carol shout back to your retreating figure.
“Fuck off Carol,” was all you gave back in reply.
“So you want to talk about what happened back at school?”
Jonathan took a quick look at you taking his eyes off the road for a second before looking back ahead, keeping a steady grip on the steering wheel, the rain being the noise draining out most of the world along with the music as it was pelting against the windshield and roof. You just kept your gaze focused outside of the window with your head leaning against the glass and your fist pushing into your cheek. You didn’t say anything back so that was the answer to Jonathan’s question. All you thought about right now was the dangerous ideas conjuring in your mind. The idea that Will would run away to Lonnie’s was absurd and you all knew that, but the thought of Lonnie doing something horrible to your little brother made you want to throw up what little food you had for breakfast. The car coming to a stop pulled you from your nightmares and brought you to the monster's house instead.
“Okay in and out, that’s it.”
You and Jonathan both looked at each other trying to gauge what the other was feeling at this moment. Probably scared, terrified of finding Will here, angry at the thought of seeing Lonnie again, but you both put those aside and nodded at each other and got out of the car.
Jonathan walked ahead of you and pounded his fist against the door, after a few seconds he banged his fist again and this time you both could faintly hear a female voice inside the house.
“Ugh, Cynthia,” you said with an eye roll.
Cynthia opened the door and just the noise of her aggressively chewing her gum was pissing you off very fast.“Can I help you?”
“Yeah, is Lonnie around?” Jonathan asked.
She just looked between the both of you, “yeah, he’s out back. What do you want?”
“To look around,” Jonathan said as he walked into the house with you following just behind. You both began to split up looking everywhere Will could possibly be hidden.
“Hey, what do you think you’re doing? Hey!”
“We’ll be fast,” was all you replied back.
You and Jonathan looked into different rooms, closets, cupboards, anywhere shouting his name to let him know you were here. Just as you finished looking on your side of the house walking back towards Jonathan when Lonnie came out of nowhere pushing him up against the wall.
“Jonathan!” you yelled out.
Lonnie looked in your direction after hearing your cry and just gave a disgusting grin your way looking back at Jonathan, “looks like the bitch is still around.”
“Get off!” Jonathan yelled with a cry pushing Lonnie by the chest to get him away.
Lonnie just smiled and watched Jonathan like he was waiting for him to make his next move, “you’ve gotten strong. Bet she’s gotten weaker.”
He indicated the last part in your direction. You just crossed your arms over your chest, trying to give you some type of physical protection even though it would have no effect. Jonathan was the one who took most of the physical violence from Lonnie, you would take some to if Jonathan wasn’t around, but it was mostly Jonathan being everyone’s savior.
“Will someone please explain what is going on?” Cynthia spoke up from the end of the hallway just behind you.
“Jonathan, (Y/n), this is Cynthia. Cynthia, this is Jonathan and (Y/n), my kids”
“Yea nice to meet you Cynthia and not great to see you again Lonnie, but we have to leave.”
You moved to grab Jonathan by his denim jacket and made for the door. The small, trashed house was starting to make you feel like you couldn’t breathe, like it was slowly closing in on you, closing you off from the safe world outside keeping you trapped inside with Lonnie. When you got outside you started to walk towards Jonathan’s car, but saw that he stopped by Lonnie’s and checked the trunk. You held your breath hoping that Will wasn’t in there. Jonathan closed the trunk and turned his head towards you and shook it ‘no’ which made you release your breath.
You decided to just wait for Jonathan in the car not wanting to have any more interactions with Lonnie. As you waited in the car you could see that Jonathan and Lonnie were having some type of conversation, Jonathan slamming a missing persons poster into Lonnie’s chest, and then him walking away back to the car. Cynthia came out and grabbed onto Lonnie from behind saying something that you couldn’t give two shits about, so with a final eye roll you pulled your gaze forward just as Jonathan opened his door.
Yea you hated this job, but it paid okay money plus tips and you’ve only had it for five months, waiting for something better to come along. Working at Lenny’s Pizza was pretty easy, but it made you want to rip your hair out because of the customers. You’ve already called out for the past two days so you took a shift from a coworker since they had last minute plans. And just as you were finishing up with your last 15 minutes on the clock, you had to make a delivery, which luckily would be the last thing for the day so not too bad if you might say.
However when you got to the house and knocked on the front door, your night was ruined even worse after today's events. Steve Harrington opened the door and you froze into a block of ice. Of course the last delivery of your night had to be at Steve’s house, and Carol and Tommy H. were probably here too, shit.
“Byers?”
A voice snapped you out of your daze and you looked to see Steve staring at your face and then you saw the way his eyes made a quick scan of your uniform. You felt heat rush to your ears which were luckily covered by your hair and the employee hat.
Look you may not really like Steve at this point in time, but you used to have a little crush on him in middle school. He was different back then, yea he still had the Harrington charm that he uses to this day, but he was a lot nicer to everyone, he was sweet, helpful and considerate. Now because he’s in the ‘popular crowd’ he’s mostly a douchebag, though in your head you think it’s mostly because he hangs out with idiots like Carol and Tommy H. He’s also just very handsome with his well crafted hair and his gorgeous smile-
“Oh look who it is!” Carol and her annoying voice have made their way into your brain now.
You look just past Steve and see Carol standing just inside the sliding door. You couldn’t see who else was here tonight, but you for sure knew Tommy was here so you just wanted to leave. You look back to Steve to see he was still looking at you, watching you, it made a slight shiver go up your spine.
“Um, it’ll be 10.73”
Steve handed you a 20 and you didn’t know what to do for a moment when his fingers grazed your palm. You looked at the bill and then looked back at him with a sort of dumbfounded look.
“I-I don’t have change on me…”
“Keep the change, it can be your tip,” he said with a smile to his face.
You just gave a tight lipped smile back to him, said good night and headed back to the company car. You took one glance over your shoulder when you got to the drivers side and saw that Steve was still at his door looking at you. You felt your nervousness get the best of you so you rushed inside the car and left, just wanting to be home right now in bed.
When you did get home you saw your mom outside standing by her car. You dropped your bike in the grass near her car and you saw her jump at the noise.
“Mom, are you okay?” That was kinda a rhetorical question seeing as she hasn’t been okay for the past two days.
She was shaking and was just staring at the house. You turned your head in the direction of the house as well when suddenly the lights started to flicker inside.
“Mom, did you forget to pay the electric company or something?”
Still nothing, so you walked closer to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder. Her head finally turned towards you and you saw the look in her eyes. She was scared.
“What happened?” “The lights, and Will’s room, and-”
“Mom,” “And I heard this noise-”
“Mom!”
It went quiet after you shouted at her, but you needed to. She was slowly spiraling and you couldn’t have her do that, you didn’t want to constantly have to worry about her while also trying to find Will. It was too much pressure on both you and Jonathan.
“Mom, let's just go to bed, it's late,” you sighed.
She moved her eyes back to the house and you followed in her movement, seeing the lights flicker again, but you didn’t care about that right now. You just looked back at her and linked your fingers with hers and pulled her behind you as you walked to the house, back inside your haunted house.

Fic Writer Interview
Thank you for the tag @mercurygray!
How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 6, but hopefully that number will go up over spring break
What's your total AO3 word count?
119,136
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Like A Girl (Like A Man) - Band of Brothers
Just A Kid - The Outsiders
Bear The Burden Alone - The Chronicles of Narnia
For Whatever We Lose - Band of Brothers
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, absolutely! I share my writing because it allows me to connect with people who share my interests. If I'm not posting replies, it feels more like a one sided conversation, imo. Also, it seems the polite thing to do
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
It's about to be Like A Girl (Like A Man)! You'll see why soon >:)
What the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
On AO3, it's probably Bear The Burden Alone, but I try to keep the fics that I post here on Tumblr kinda upbeat with hopeful -- albeit open-ended -- endings.
Do you write crossovers?
Yeah! For Whatever We Lose is actually a crossover with The Pacific, and I'd love to do more crossovers in the future
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yep! I've deleted the comments, but some people were VERY ANGRY about the background Babe/Roe content in LAGLAM -- you know, despite the fact that the plot of the fic is driven by a queer woman's decision to cross-dress. Guess they had to draw the line somewhere, but the hypocrisy of it all makes me chuckle
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Kinda? I deleted most of it from the original LAGLAM drafts and instead just alluded to it, but things are going to be different in FWWL. Get ready for crappy ocean metaphors and religious imagery, babes!
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not :( That would stink
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I think it would be fun!
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Everlark! (said while frothing at the mouth because they make me go insane) I've been obsessed with them since I first read The Hunger Games at age 9. I could write you a whole novel about why I think they're perfect together, but I'll spare you the ramble (unless anyone wants it?)
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
Tears in my eyes when I tell you that it's probably the requests in my inbox. I keep telling myself that I'll get to them, but I've just felt unmotivated with all the stuff I've had going on in my personal life/at school. I really really do hope to get to them someday, though, because some of them will be really fun to write
What are your writing strengths?
I have no clue, lol. I tend to get compliments about how I describe settings, so I'm gonna say that!
What are your writing weaknesses?
My abuse of commas and italics.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Personally, I love doing it. Especially in a fic like LAGLAM, where even though most people don't speak the language I'm using (Cherokee), I feel like they can still see the importance to the characters and to the story. And I like tricking people into caring about Indigenous language preservation. My teachers told me that anything can be a vessel for carrying language on, and by God, I took that to heart
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Oh boy. I was in the fifth grade. I had won many writing competitions. Two classmates approached me and told me that they wished The Hunger Games had more post-Mockingjay Everlark content, and that since I was a good writer, they wanted me to write it. I was traded many cosmic brownies and other such snacks throughout the year for my services in providing my classmates with Everlark fics on pages of notebook paper that are probably crumpled up in a landfill by now. At the time, I had no idea I was writing fanfiction, but it was the start of my favorite hobby. Look at me now, baby!
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I've always wanted to write for TURN: Washington's Spies but have never had the courage haha
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I have a couple of one-shots that I'm pretty pleased with, but currently I'm going to say LAGLAM because it's been so special to me <3

To the Shadows that Cry Witch /// Chapter 21
Tumblr media
RAAAAHHHHHHHH WE'RE BACK AND ONLY ONE CHAPTER LEFT AND I CAN FINALLY MOVE ONTO PART 3. The Easter holidays have just started for me so I now have three full weeks to put into the last chapter. This one could be classed as a filler chapter but there's a lot they gain that links to the future so stuff doesn't just appear 'for the plot' - the girls need their hardcore character development before the journey. Enjoy! <3
Summary: Magic was real, but it came at a price. So when two girls end up in the one place they never thought they could reach, strange things began to happen. Good or bad? That's up to them to find out.

Bag End, Hobbiton, The Shire – T.A. Monday, 27th March 2940 of the Third Age (Monday, 5th Astron, 1340 in Shire-reckoning)
4 MONTHS LATER
“I’m so happy you allowed me to accompany you three! It’s not every day I’m able to spare time for trip like this.” Gladiola smiled gratefully at the three of us.
--
After begging Bilbo to let us travel to Bree for a good month, he finally let up, but only agreed if we went in the spring, strongly insisting we wouldn’t survive the night if we had travelled in the deep winter.
“Bree is a hundred and thirty-five mile trip, meaning it would take a minimum of four days to get there. Meaning that we would have to camp in the freezing cold, because the only proper shelters are at least three detours from the path!”
We had instantly agreed, when we had realised the actual distance, deciding to wait until late March when the weather would be warmer.
Aa couple days before we left, Mrs Greenfoot had walked in on us packing when she was dropping off some spare socks she had knitted. After telling her where we were going, she instantly pleaded to let her go with us, saying how she heard Bree had some fabrics that she was dying to get her hands on, and how her husband was going to be at home full time for the next two weeks, so it would be a perfect opportunity for her to go. We said yes after persuading a reluctant Bilbo, and she shot off to pack, which led to now – on our fourth day of walking.
“Oh I really do hope the markets have what I want. I promised Menegilda I would make her a new dress for her birthday.” Gladiola rambled on as she took in the fields and forests ahead of us, her pace picking up with eagerness.
“I’m sure they will.” Replied Kay, grimacing at the feeling of her aching legs. “It’ll ruin the reputation they’ve built of they don’t.”
“Hopefully.” She sighed. “What are you all hoping of finding?”
“Every dangerous object under the sun apparently.” Bilbo spoke up before us. Stuffing his hand into his pocket, he pulled out a small piece of paper and handed it over.
Taking it, Gladiola quickly scanned the list, her face morphing into surprise and shock at the same time. “Swords?? Why would you need swords?” she queried, handing it back.
“To scare off half the town, in my opinion.” Bilbo grumbled, clearly not happy with the reason we had dragged him so far. “If I didn’t want to go for some of that wine they make, I would’ve said no on the spot.”
“Well, we would’ve gone ourselves if that was the case.” I jived back.
“We just want to know that we can protect ourselves if we ever decide to try and find our way home.” Kay explained.
Bilbo slowed his pace for a moment, as something seemed to dawn on him. “Oh.” He said quietly, a tiny quiver of dejection on his face. “Yes, home. I forgot about uh.. that.” Though he quickly shook that mood off, jogging slightly to catch up.
“Plus,” I added in an attempt to alleviate the mood. “we wouldn’t be looking to own one if we didn’t think it looked insanely cool.”
And with that Bilbo sighed, back to his usual exasperated mood.
--
The wall surrounding Bree stretched high above us as we neared the wooden gate, its intimidating nature emphasised by the two-storey stone turrets that flanked either side like a pair of unmovable sentries.
Gravel and dried mud crunching underfoot, we took the last few steps, before shuffling to a stop in front of one of the towering doors. Taking a couple steps forward, Bilbo reached up and gave the surface a few hard raps, before coming back to stand beside us.
A moment passed, and only the birds and the rustling of leaves from the nearby trees could be heard, when a muffled rattling sounded from behind the door. A small hatch near my eye level swung open, revealing the wrinkled face of a man, who, at the sight of us, morphed it into a sour scowl, a stark contrast compared to the warm sun that was beating down on our backs.
“Who’re you?” he barked, his croaky and adenoidal voice matching his unpleasant demeanour perfectly.
When neither me or Kay began to speak, Bilbo quickly piped up, stretching up on his toes to try and see the gatekeeper. “Um, hello?” he called out.
The gatekeeper, quickly stepped back and slammed the hatch shut, before a creak resounded from further down, opening another hatch that was the perfect level to speak with the hobbit, giving me a very strong sense of déjà vu.
The hobbit stepped forward towards the open hatch. “We’re here to stay at the Prancing Pony, for a week.” He explained politely. “To visit the market.”
“Oh?” croaked the gatekeeper with half a smirk. “And what are you here to buy, exactly?”
Bilbo didn’t hesitate to flap the list in front of the old man’s face. “Whatever we need.” He said sternly, before stuffing the paper back in his pocket. “I have visited before, you know.”
Looking between me and Kay, then at the hobbits, his eyes narrowed. “Two hobbits and a pair of human girls, together. That’s not something you see every day.” He muttered, reminding me a lot of a certain Hogwarts caretaker, and I half-expected to see a dupe of Mrs Norris jump out of nowhere. “Tell me, how do you know each other?”
“They’re his daughters!” A voice called out, and the three of us spun around in surprise to face a nervous looking Mrs Greenfoot. “Adopted, of course. And I’m a family friend.” She added with a sheepish smile.
The gatekeeper took his time to eye us all up slowly, his bloodshot eyes scouring whatever he could. Seemingly unable to spot anything he counted as suspicious, he quickly disappeared again with a grumble, the hatch shutting with a snap. Seconds later there was a loud groan, and the door he used to speak through slowly began to open. When the gap was wide enough, the gatekeeper stepped out from behind it, revealing his mousy grey hair and tattered brown tunic and trousers. Raising a wrinkly hand, he impatiently beckoned us forward, quickly scouring the area outside as we stumbled in, before he pushed the gate shut.
Bilbo diligently led the way as we trekked down the main street, dragging Mrs Greenfoot to walk beside him.
“What in Yavanna’s name are you doing??” The two of us heard him cry in a whisper. “People are going to ask even more questions if we call them my daughters! How am I supposed to come up with a story about that???”
“Well go with the story you already have! Because it’s the one you’re going to have to run with for now, Mr Baggins.” She hissed back with a smirk.
Deciding to pointedly ignore the storm brewing in front of us, I turned to the view of the building in front of us. “Very Tudor-like.” I mentioned, admiring the dark beams that contrasted against the cream walls, along with the jettying of the upper floors that stuck out, and the metal grid panes that decorated the windows all around.
Kay hummed in agreement as she walked beside me, the both of us in awe of the once-fictional town that spanned across our view.
“It’s nice to see it not pouring with rain and caked in mud like the movies.” She whispered. I eagerly agreed, very happy about not having to fight my way through several inches of horse-trodden mud.
Grasping our skirts, we twisted between people and horse-drawn carriages, finally stopping in front of a relatively large building, the carved wooden sign hanging above us revealing itself to be the one and only Prancing Pony, and the two of us craned our necks to look up and admire the famous building Reaching an arm out, Mrs Greenfoot hauled the hefty wooden door open, and the four of us took our first steps into the inn.
Approaching the bar near the door, I watched Bilbo wipe the thunderous look on his face, turning away from where he was scowling at Gladiola to face the bartender approaching us.
“Good afternoon!” The man called, leaning his round body over the counter to take us all in with a hearty smile. “The name’s Mr Butterbur, but you lot can call me Barney. What can I do for the four of you?”
“Two rooms, if you please.” Answered Bilbo, reaching into his pocket for the right amount of coins. “Preferably split one and three.”
“Ah, you got lucky!” said Mr Butterbur, sticking his hand under the counter to bring out two keys. “You came at the right time – travelling’s picking up again now that winter’s over.” He handed the keys to Bilbo. “Rooms 5 and 6. Say, will you lot be coming down for dinner? I have a feeling it’ll be quiet this evening and we’re serving roast beef and potatoes.”
“Yes, that’ll be lovely.” Replied Gladiola with a warm smile.
Thanking the bartender once again, we set off, crossing the sparsely populated room of tables, considering it was only late afternoon, and up the narrow, creaking stairs on the other side. It didn’t take long to walk down the upper hallway to find the matching rooms, Bilbo handing us our key before he unlocked the door of his own room, insisting the separation was basic courtesy.
Evening came round quickly, our time spent downstairs in the tavern. Bilbo, Kay and Gladiola were currently sat at a table by one of the windows, and I was up by the bar, sipping a steaming tankard of tea on a rickety stool as I waited for Mr Butterbur to refill Bilbo’s wine.
“Say, I don’t suppose you know a place that could sell weapons?” I asked.
He was quiet for a moment, only raising a bushy brow as he peered down at me. Slowly, he set the refilled cup of wine down, before taking a rag out to wipe the surface. “Depends, what kind of weapons are you looking for?” he said lowly.
“Oh, nothing too dramatic.” I waved dismissably. “My friend and I are looking to venture out by ourselves at some point, you see. And we’re looking for something that’s durable and efficient, but easy to get used to, that beginners can handle.”
He seemed to lighten up again, throwing the cloth down as he braced both of his arms on the bar, eyes darting around in thought.
“Are you sure you two want to do that?” he asked with a stern but gentle look. “I’ve never been, but I’ve heard the Shire is one of the safest places you can live, the world outside? Not so much. Besides, you wouldn’t want to leave your dad alone, now would you?”
I blinked. “My – ?” I spun on my chair, looking at our table when my eyes made contact with Bilbo’s, who already seemed to be staring over with light concern on his face. “Oh! He’s no – yea, he’s uh, only been our.. ‘dad’ for a few months though.”
“Even more reason to stay!” Mr Butterbur said, reaching over to poke my shoulder slightly. “You don’t want to go breaking his poor heart right after he opened it up to let you both in!”
I turned back towards the bar, a solemn look falling upon my face as I stared at the tankard in my hands. “I know it’s just…” I heaved a long sigh. “I had a family,” My voice quavered as I looked up at him with wide eyes. “No, I have a family. I wasn’t brought here by choice, I –” I pressed my palms over my teary eyes as the events from the last six months hit me all at once. “I don’t know how we got here and I can’t get us back.” I cried.
“Hey, hey,” he murmured gently, laying a hand on my shoulder. “I don’t know what the two of you have gone through, but it seems that you’re distressed about the sudden change and you don’t even realise it.”
Blinking through the blur of tears, I looked up at him. “I have a bit. Bilbo’s found me crying at night over it more than once, but I’ve been telling him it’s nightmares of the night he found us.”
“A bad night?” he asked, smiling gently under his moustache.
“Very.” I replied with a wobbly grin. “I don’t think I’ve ever been that terrified before.”
He looked me up and down concerned, eyeing the large pink scar on my hand as I stared at it. He went to open his mouth, when he was interrupted.
“Oi Barney!” A man called from one of the tables nearby. “Don’t suppose we could get another round of mead?”
“I’ll bring ‘em round in a minute!” he called back, before turning to me once more. “Well you two have certainly had an experience, from what I can put together. But,” he lowered his voice again. “coming from a stranger, the best thing you can do, until you can find a way to get back, is to just carry on, and keep your hobbit dad company. Or, you know, find him a spouse – depends on whether he’s the bachelor type or not.”
I choked on my drink at the last statement, looking over at the hobbit with a grin. “Well whoever manages to charm him is gonna need a very strong metaphorical hammer.” I laughed. “Cuz that hobbit has enough stubbornness and resilience to rival the walls of Helm’s Deep.”
Mr Butterbur let out sharp laugh, almost spilling the tankard of beer he was filling. “Helm’s Deep! Blimey, you two must’ve done something insane to persuade him to take you in.” He chortled as he began lining up mugs of mead. “Anyway, you were asking about weapons, and I know of a guy that has a stall in the market square, name it and he’ll probably sell it.”
I perked up at the new subject. “Okay, what area of the square?”
“North-east corner, the blacksmiths.” He replied. “Ask for a man named Seathan Marshsteel. Tall, burly guy with a long dark beard and wavy hair, normally tied in a bun or something. Could be mistaken for a dwarf if it weren’t for the fact he’s over six foot.” He described with a chortle. “He’ll know what to give you, but best you go in the early hours, so the good stuff doesn’t get snagged first.”
“That’s great, thank you so much!” I exclaimed, finally getting up from the stool. Turning to face him fully, I gave him the sincerest smile I could. “And thanks for the advice, too.”
He waved a large hand in dismissal. “Don’t mention it. I prefer conversations with the emotional sober, than the emotional drunk.”
Giving him a laugh and a wave, I returned to the table with Bilbo’s refilled drink and my own, relaying the information Mr Butterbur had given me to Kay. The rest of that evening was spent in that corner, eating roast beef, potatoes and vegetables along with the rest of the taverns patrons, before retiring to bed for the night, ready for the next morning.
--
The murmurs of people and trotting of hooves were yet to be heard when I woke the next morning, only the chirping of the early birds, the occasional pair of footsteps scuffling beneath our window along with the crackle and pops of the dying fire across the room could be made out as I blinked the sleep away from my eyes.
I laid there for a while, staring up at the ceiling cast in dark shadows by the glowing embers as Kay and Mrs Greenfoot slept on. It still felt a little strange not having my phone on the bedside table, the calm piano of my alarm floating through my ears. The battery died on the fourth night after arriving at Bilbo’s, and I had cried endlessly, reality setting in as a realised that the only potential way of contacting my family was gone, unless we found a way back. I was mostly terrified of not being able to see their faces, but managed to calm myself slightly when I went through my small collection of polaroids and found a couple family portraits. I had stored them in the envelope stuck on the back page of my grimoire, for safe keeping but also as a way of keeping them near me for good luck. Going back through the polaroids, another stroke of luck hit me as I had found a polaroid of Kay and her mum, along with her dog Barkley, that I had taken on one of her birthdays, the two of them smiling at their dining table next to a cake glowing with candles, and the large dog laid by their feet. I had slid it under her door that night, deciding to give her some time alone with it. She had come to breakfast that next morning not saying much, only quietly thanking me before settling into her meal.
Coming back to the present, I decided it was time for me to get up. I took my clothes to the bathroom, slipping on a set of light briefs and a vest top over my underwear, an extra layer to battle the early spring chill, then sliding on my shift and finally my pale green summer kirtle.
Kay and Gladiola had roused from their sleep by the time I was sat on my bed sliding my socks on. I gave them a quick ‘Good morning’, before lacing up my trusty modern walking boots, and walking out the door to go knock on Bilbo’s.
The hobbit was already up, calling through the door that he would meet us downstairs for breakfast. I returned to my room to wait for the other two, before taking the stairs down.
We got lucky that the tavern served an early breakfast, the four of us able to down the meal and get out the door when there was still only a few people wandering the streets. The sun hadn’t fully risen either, the rays only managing to shine through the gaps of buildings and alleyways, highlighted by the fading mist as the jettying upper floors kept parts of the street within the dark blue shadows of the early hours.
“– well I would like to see if they have any rolls of lace as well.” Chirped Gladiola, chattering away about the fabrics and lace she wants to try and find, and that if she got commissioned to create some more outfits with the new fabrics, she might be able to afford a new sewing desk. “I’ll be refusing any requests from your relative Lobelia, Mr Baggins. You know what she said the other day? Marched right up to poor Melba and asked her why she was wearing dishrags right in front of her friends!” she exclaimed.
“She did what?!?!” Kay shrieked in outrage.
“I know! I’m surprised you Bilbo haven’t done something to sever her from the family tree!” Gladiola said as she turned to him.
“Believe me, it’s the one thing I want.” He grumbled. “I’ve had far too many of my possessions vanish only to appear in her parlour.”
After listening to the two of them slag off Bilbo’s relative, we had finally arrived at the market. People were still sparse, only a few meandering the stalls whilst some sellers were still setting up shop.
Using the east-rising sun as a reference, Kay and I headed towards the north-east corner, with Bilbo hot on our heels. We waved goodbye to Gladiola, who ventured off with her coin purse towards the colourful fabric stalls on the other side. Walking up the path past stalls selling everything from arrays of meat to bed linens, the smells of metallic blood, spices and cloth filled our senses as our eyes set on a grey canopy propped up by wooden posts attached to a building with a blacksmiths sign hanging from it. Underneath was a counter that was part of the wall, the stall actually being part of the building itself. Approaching the counter, we peered into the shop. Weapons of all kinds lined the walls, even more hung on the racks stuck in the middle of the room like aisles, or on the ceiling like stalactites. The fire in the corner was burning bright, along with the torches lining the walls, filling our nostrils with the strong smell of smoke and the warmth of hot steel, so we figured someone was in.
Kay leant over the counter to try and look around, before calling out.
“Hello?”
A bang resonated through the air, followed by a string of hissed curses. It wasn’t long until a figure appeared hunched from behind one of the tables, clutching and rubbing to back of his head as he muttered under his breath. He gave it one last rub, before standing straight and stretching his back. Placing down the small hammer in his hand, he turned to face us with a frown, though it quickly turned to one of slight surprise. He matched the description Mr Butterbur had given me: Quite tall, about 6’3, well built and muscular, with thick wavy almost black hair, half tied up in a loose bun, with a beard reaching halfway down his chest. He was wearing a pair of loose trousers tied with a thick belt and a baggy tunic rolled up at the sleeves, and covered in patches of soot and grime, his time in the forge on clear display.
Eyeing us up and down, he took his time wandering over, using a cloth to wipe his calloused hands down whilst his face held an expression of poorly concealed confusion. The look increased tenfold as Bilbo peeked over the edge, resting his forearms on the wooden surface to prop himself up. Reaching us, he plopped the rag down, bracing his arms on the counter as his pale blue eyes took the three of us in.
“Can I… help you?” he queried, an accent similar to an Irish one strong on his tongue as he squinted at us, looking as if he couldn’t wrap his head around what was in front of him. I tried not to cough when the smell of smoke increased tenfold, rolling off him in waves.
Nodding, I slapped the list I had taken from Bilbo earlier on the counter. “Yes,” I affirmed eagerly. “We were hoping if you had anything on the list in stock.”
Taking a moment to look between me and the piece of paper, he slowly reached out, pulling the list towards him and picking it up, before grasping the spectacles that hung from his neck by some string, and sliding them on.
He spent about twenty seconds flitting his eyes between us and the list, covering it in black fingerprints until he lowered it a looked down at us over his glasses.
“You three aren’t from around here, are you?” he remarked, his deep, throaty voice resonating through the chill, morning air. “I don’t advertise outside the town unless I speak to you personally, so who told you about me?”
Slightly taken aback by the man’s cautious demeanour, I stepped in the explain. “Uh – we were recommended to visit you by Mr Butterbur?” I managed out, gesturing in the direction of the inn. “from the, uh, Pr-”
“- The Prancing Pony, I know. We’re well acquainted.” He said with a small smile though quickly returned to eyeing us up. “Tell me, what do two young girls and a hobbit want within the weapons trade. You don’t look experienced to me.”
“Which is exactly the problem.” I stated firmly. “We aren’t. And therefore we want to learn how.”
He slowly regarded the three of us with a look, and I prepared for the disappointment of his potential refusal. “Ok,” he sighed, tapping his soot-covered fingernails rhythmically on the wood. “How long are you here for?”
At our silent confusion, he raised a brow expectantly.
“Uh?” Kay vocalised, her eyes dazed in confusion. “A week? We’ve got six days left.”
“And why?” I added. “Do you need time to make them?”
He shook his head. “No.” He stated, baffling us further. Sighing, he began explaining. “None of you look like you’ve seen combat during any day of your lives, so, my proposal is in exchange for six days of dinners at the inn, I give you six days’ worth of basic training.”
Surprised, I slowly turned towards Kay, eyes wide and eyebrows raised. She eyed me back, and grins began to slowly grow on our faces. We turned to confirm the deal, when the hobbit I had forgotten was between us spoke up.
“H-hold on!” he cried, pointing a finger to emphasise his point. “You don’t know any of us. How do we know we can trust what you’re saying?”
Seathan rested on his elbows so he could lean over the counter to face the grumpy hobbit. “Do you trust Mr Butterbur?”
“Mr-” Bilbo sputtered. “We barely had one conversation with him!”
“He did seem nice though.” Kay butted in, and Bilbo whipped his head at her in outrage.
“And it’s a fair deal.” I added, watching in amusement as Bilbo comically flips his head between us, shock evident on his face. “I’ll make you Victoria cakes weekly in return.” I quickly added.
Grumbling under his breath, he eventually gave in. “Fine, they,” he emphasised, pointing to the both of us. “trust the bartender.”
“Then you can trust me.” Seathan replied warmly with a deep rumble of a laugh. “You won’t learn quickly on your own – so meet me outside the inn at 7 o'clock each morning and I’ll give you a rundown of everything. We’ll have breaks at lunch, and finish in time for dinner.”
“Woah, are you sure?” Kay held up a hand to slow him down, brows furrowed in confusion. “Why are you offering this to us so quickly? We’ve only just met you.”
Seathan pushed himself up from his elbows with a grunt, towering over us as he stood to his full height. “My daughters.” He revealed bluntly. “My wife’s not big on me sharing this but they asked the same thing you did. I said no, and they were injured in a small goblin ambush during one of our travels.” A sombre look fell over his eyes. “They have since recovered, but that guilt has weighed on me ever since, therefore I’ve wanted to offer training to girls and women when they’ve been given no opportunity to do so before.”
Kay nodded slowly, happy with the explanation. “I’m sorry to hear that – I’m glad they’re ok now. So we’ll meet you tomorrow?”
“Come round sometime after luncheon today if you can.” Seathan requested. “The sooner I can get swords in your hands the better.”
Thanking him, we wandered back into the depths of the market, it’s scents dominating our senses once again as we scanned for our other hobbit companion.
---
That morning whizzed by as fast as we would allow it, our nervous excitement for the afternoon sending a slightly uncomfortable buzz through our stomachs, the thought of what was to come prominent on our minds as we scarfed our ham and lettuce sandwiches down. We had changed outfits as well – I now sat in my cream blouse and baggy brown corduroy dungarees, and Kay in her black tank top with some loose, pale brown trousers that closely resembled cargos, and a knitted cardigan slung on top. Sure, it looked a little modern, but we hoped the earthy colours would keep people’s interest away
When we had finished, we wandered outside, only to find Seathan waiting beside the door, instead of where he said he would be by the blacksmiths. Pushing himself off the wall he slowly strode over, no longer donned in his apron, choosing to only remain in his slightly sooty shirt and dungarees.
“You girls ready?” he questioned as he pulled his curls back to tie them with a piece of cloth. Shifting a little, he looked behind us. “Where’s your hobbit friend?”
Still a bit hesitant about his forwardness, I gave him a simple reply. “He doesn’t want to come – said he had planned this week for relaxing and wine tasting.”
He gave a nod as he chuckled. “Fair enough.” He remarked, and beckoned us along as he began trapsing down the now bustling street, the two of us following not long after.
Leading us down a wide alley just before we hit the market, he led us through some of the residential housing, that slowly turned from the fusty smelling, overhanging town houses that were packed together like sardines, to detached cottages with front gardens lined with crudely woven branches to act as fences, goats, donkeys and the odd cat mulling about the small patches of crops in each one. The town was fully alive now, the sun passing midday as everyone got on with their jobs and chores, voices and shouting echoing from down each passage as we trekked past. We were thankful that the early spring weather had allowed the sun to dry out the large mud patches that would’ve otherwise sucked up our poor shoes, watching the solid cracks and chunks grow in size the closer we got to the more rural neighbourhoods.
Rounding one last cottage, we came face to face with the open countryside, the grass long and swaying in the gentle breeze, with the occasional oak tree sheltering a few livestock from the 12 o’clock sun. Climbing over a rickety fence, Seathan brought us to our destination. A large patch of grass had been shortened – about half the size of a football field, and somewhat recently if the loose grass piles and faint smell of freshly cut grass mixed with the usual stink of livestock said anything. Down one of the edges were several wooden posts that had been hammered into the ground, branches and planks nailed on to make them look like human dummies, covered in chips and gashes where they had been practiced on previously. Down another side were some makeshift archery targets; wooden circles cut from tree trunks with white and red paint hastily slapped on in rings.
Eyeing up the equipment, I blindly followed the sound of Seathan’s footsteps. When they stopped, I turned my head to face him, about to ask what was to happen, only to flail my arms out in an attempt to catch the wooden sword that was flung at my face. Managing to grab it at the very edge of the hilt, I darted my wide eyes to the towering man to watch him chuck another at Kay, who had watched my floundering and was prepared enough to catch it with ease.
Picking up a slightly larger wooden sword, he weighed and swung it around as he approached us. “Ok. We’re going to start out with some wooden swords.” He held up a hand as Kay opened her mouth. “And before you protest, I would much rather you get bruises from these rather than deal with a mutilated limb from an actual sharpened sword.”
Pouting, Kay snapped her jaw shut, and we both trailed after him into the centre of the field.
“Now,” he began, turning to us, signalling for us to place our swords down as he did the same. “I know you two won’t gain the arm strength for swinging swords overnight, so we’ll start with some footwork so you don’t twist the wrong way and fall on your own weapon.”
The next couple hours were spent with us practicing out foot spacing and placement, Seathan reaching down to twist our ankles slightly every once in a while, shouting which way to put our feet when spinning around to face potential enemies as we spun and twisted to each end of the field. It oddly felt like I was back in my ballet classes, learning how to walk on the tip of my toes for the very first time again.
Eventually we were able to pick up the swords, learning how to use our arms alongside our feet as we twisted and turned to block his mock attacks that got stronger and stronger each hour, the man insisting that defence was the first and most important thing to learn when it came to combat.
Sweat was running down both of our backs by the time Seathan had called it a day, the sun now nearing the treeline in the distance as the breeze began to cool the moisture on our skin, sending chills down our backs.
“Ughhhhh I feel so muckyyyy.” Kay groaned as she chucked her sword back in the makeshift chest under one of the nearby trees, holding her arms out in front of her as she tried to pick her cardigan up with the tips of her now mud-stained fingers.
“Tell me about it.” I grumbled, exhausted as I reached down to grab the half-filled water tankard, given to us by a lovely woman who had seen us being worked to death by Seathan, who had actually introduced herself as his aforementioned wife. When she had suspiciously asked what we had used to pay him, she had sighed knowingly when we revealed it was several dinners.
“He only asks for that because I don’t let him.” She had muttered amusedly to us as she refilled one of the animal troughs for us to wash our hands in. “He’d be down there every other night stuffing his face otherwise – says Barney’s steak is a god-send. I told him throwing up on customers after eating it all would have an enormous impact on his business’s reputation.”
After chatting to the friendly woman for a few minutes, we were soon ushered up by Seathan, who had hardly broken a sweat at all that day – ‘the pros of working with a kiln every day, you build a resilience to heat’ he had remarked proudly.
Trudging back through the now-calmer town, we wearily made our way back to the Prancing Pony.
---
“By Yavanna, look at the state of you two!!” Bilbo had cried when we walked in, the hobbit gawping at our less-than acceptable appearances. “Yuv’got – mud. Everywhere!” he sputtered, gesturing at our clothes. “Go change, now.”
Snorting at his antics, the two of us dashed up the stairs of the inn, disappearing before we could watch the seething hobbit turn on our slightly nervous teacher.
When we returned having changed into our original clothes from this morning, we joined the two hobbits and Seathan at the table, who we’re all currently waiting for us to arrive before eating the fresh plates of dinner placed in front of them. We sat down and began eating whilst Seathan was recounting what he had taught us as he scarfed down his well-earned meal.
“– yea, they’re getting the hang of it quite quickly!” he stated with a proud grin. “Could say we’ve got a couple of naturals on our hands.”
I smiled back. “I’m just glad we weren’t thrown under the bus straight away, otherwise I would’ve given up.” I joked, but my joking was immediately stopped at the feeling of my throat jamming up, and I clenched my teeth, digging my nails into my palm as I tried not to make it obvious.
Seathan paused, his fork halfway to his mouth as he glanced at me with a bewildered look. “What’s a bus?”
Staring at him, I remained silent waiting for the invisible hands to stop choking me, and he began frowning as he noticed my cheeks turn a slight pink. I flinched slightly as I felt Kay’s foot kick my shin, and my airway opened once again, and it took me a lot of strength to not heave on the spot. I quickly darted my eyes over to see Kay staring at me, silently staring at me as she realised what was going on. Facing the other three, who were looking at me with curious looks, I racked my brain for an excuse.
“Oh! It’s uh.. just a saying where we’re from.” I laughed nervously, still trying to hide my excessive breathing. “We have different names for transport there. Like, um, a carriage is, obviously, known as a carriage, ha ha, but we have nicknames for it, like bus, or.. or car for short?”
A few moments of silence of passed as they processed my rambling.
“Bus is a strange word to call a carriage.” Muttered Seathan, furrowing his brows. “But, if that’s what your lot have named it, then I won’t be one to judge.” He shrugged before returning to stuffing his mouth with potatoes. Bilbo and Gladiola were already back to eating, used to our strange words and sayings by this point.
I glanced at Kay, only to see her glaring at me with raised eyebrows. I narrowed my own back at her mockingly, raising my tankard of tea to my face. “It’s not my fault we’re stuck with medieval people.” I muttered from behind it.
All I got was mashed potato flicked at my forehead in return.
---
The following five days flew by, Seathan putting us through intense training that was far more gruelling than we thought. I mean, c’mon, doing ten laps around the field is a tad bit excessive, plus, arms wield swords, not legs.
I regrettably voiced those thoughts to our teacher, who then proceeded to have us do push-ups and lifting heavy tools he brought from his shop every hour, much to our frustration. He also asked if there was anything else we wanted to learn the basics in – I had said archery, after enjoying it a few times at festivals and residential trips with school or the girl-guiding groups I was in. Kay had excitedly said she wanted to learn throwing axes. And then proceeded the extra push-ups and benching, Seathan insisting that if we wanted to learn a practice that required a hell of a lot of arm strength, then it will have to be a daily task of exercise for as long as possible before we got to our full strength. I collapsed in protest at that.
By the time Monday rolled around, the two of us could barely pick up a fork to eat, and Gladiola fretted over us as she helped shovel food onto our forks, whilst Bilbo glared daggers over the table at an amused Seathan, muttering under his breath about the ways he was going to set the man’s giant beard on fire.
---
“Oh, you two are going to have to show me what you’ve learnt on the way back!” exclaimed Gladiola as she folded our belongings into our packs, due to our arms and legs still unfortunately incapacitated. “And make sure you give that man the biggest thank you for what he’s done – not just anyone is willing to give up their time for strangers.”
“Yes mum.” Was all Kay groaned, voice muffled from where she was face-planted on her pillow. Slowly rolling over with a prolonged whine, she faced to where I was splayed out like a starfish on the next bed over. “We’re gonna die before we even reach the evening.” She mumbled, face half scrunched by the pillow.
“Now don’t say that.” Lectured Gladiola, whipping Kay’s ankle with a sock as she pattered by with the copious amounts of fabrics and ribbons she had bought, only receiving a short grunt in response. “We’ve got a four-day travel ahead of us, and with that mood, I’ll be forcing you both to carry mine and Bilbo’s packs.”
Slowly pushing herself up, copper strands still stuck to her face, Kay swung her legs over the bed. “Fine.” She mumbled. “We’re up.”
“Good.” Gladiola replied with a smile. “We should have left ten minutes ago, so Kate if you don’t get up we’re leaving you behind.” She half joked as she hauled our packs out the doorway.
“Girlie, c’mon.” Added Kay as she shook my ankle.
Reluctantly, I pushed myself up the best I could, trying to ignore the agonising aches all over my body as I laced up my boots and followed the two out the door.
---
“Now remember, you have to do the exercises I’ve given you at least an hour every day, and memorise the tips I’ve given you for hitting enemy’s weak spots.” Seathan lectured, handing us two sheets of parchment. “I’ve written them down here, and I’ve also thrown in some blunt steel swords so you can upgrade when you both feel ready to.”
Accepting the objects gratefully, we pushed some coins into the man’s hands so he could reward himself with some extra meals, thanked him profusely as we stood by the entrance gate to Bree, trying our best to ignore the lingering stare of the gatekeeper as he peered suspiciously at us.
“Oh, I almost forgot!” said Seathan, marching hurriedly over to a long leather pack that was propped against the wall surrounding the town. Returning to us, he loosened the strings of the pack and pulled the contents out.
“Here’s a set of throwing axes for Kay, and a bow and arrows for you, Kate. I also threw in some polish, oil, and tools for sharpening the blades of the axes and arrows, along with replacement strings for the bow and whatnot.”
“What?!?!” we both said consecutively.
“We can’t accept that –” “It’s too much! – ”
“I paid for it.”
Freezing, the two of us slowly turned until we faced Bilbo, who stared back, before sighing.
“You two can’t be taught all that and expect to leave with hardly anything.” He explained almost nonchalantly, pulling out the crumpled list we had written. “You wouldn’t have gotten anything on your list.”
A beat passed, before I flew down and scooped him up into my arms.
“WHAT THE – ” he sputtered.
“Father.” I said. He froze.
“Father.” Kay repeated, reaching over to continuously pat the curls on his head.
He whipped his head between us with panicked eyes. “WH- I’M NOT YOUR DAD – PUT ME DOWN!”
“Told you he adopted them.” We heard Gladiola mutter to Seathan.
Eventually placing him down, the two of us knelt down to drag him into a hug, despite his grumbling.
“Thank you.” Kay whispered. “For everything.”
With a sigh, he settled, reaching up to wrap his arms around us both. “You’re welcome, but for the love of Yavanna don’t make me regret any of it.”
With matching cheshire grins, we assured him we wouldn’t, before clambering up excitedly to receive the pack of shiny new weapons from Seathan. And within a few minutes, we were waving a hearty farewell to the blacksmith, yelling our goodbyes and thanks until he disappeared behind the closing gate.
Walking through the trees, we chattered away endlessly about the events of the past week, failing to see the two pairs of glowing blue eyes, watching us from the treeline.
---
2 MONTHS LATER
A couple months had passed since we had arrived back in the Shire, and a lot had happened since then.
We had shown Gladiola the techniques we were taught during the evenings when we were on our return trip, and she had pleaded that we taught her kids, saying how they had always wanted to play knights when they were younger. A couple weeks in, Kay and I had stumbled across a clearing on the outskirts of Hobbiton, surrounded by trees and seasonal wildflowers with a scenic view of the town from where it was further up one of the hills. It was a perfect spot; close enough to Bag End where Bilbo could sit on the bench by his front door and watch us, but the trees made it private enough for us to set up targets to practice both our weapons training, along with our magic, without the risk of someone stumbling upon us.
The most exciting part, however, was meeting Bertin Grubb, who owned the pony stables across town. After seeing the lean muscle we had begun to develop on our arms from the training, he had offered us a job assisting him with caring for the ponies, figuring we were tall and strong enough to handle the animals when they were being stubborn. It took a while getting used to, having to bend down excessively to use the small hobbit-sized wheelbarrow, or the rake with a handle too short for two girls at least twice the height of the average hobbit. But he eventually managed to get us some suitable enough, and we thoroughly loved every second, excited to finally be able to pay Bilbo back for everything he had done, especially when doing a job as fun as ours.
Except for shovelling the horse crap.
It stank.

Bag End, Hobbiton, The Shire – T.A. Friday, 5th May 2940 of the Third Age (Highday, 15th Thrimidge, 1340 in Shire-reckoning)
The sun was barely rising when Kay and I got up, readying ourselves for an early shift when we received a letter that Bertie had received two new animals and needed the extra hands earlier than normal.
Trudging down the path as the birds sang their morning song, we munched on the poached eggs buns Bilbo had shoved into our hands as we were about to step out the door, before he had promptly marched back to bed for a well-earned lie in.
Blinking away the sleep from my eyes, I mumbled a conversation with Kay as we walked between the hedges lining the path. Soon enough, we neared the stables, only to see a frantic looking Bertie, who seemed to be nervously waiting for us whilst tightly clutching his cap between his short fingers by the wooden archway leading in. When his wide brown eyes landed on us as we rounded the corner, he cried out in relief.
“Oh thank Yavanna you’re here!” he cried, jogging over to us. “A friend of mine found them wandering the outskirts looking all muddy and he begged me to take them cause they were eating his crops but they’re so large I don’t know what to do with them! I –”
“Woah, woah! Hey!” I raised my voice slightly to cut off his rambling. “What do you mean large? What are they?”
“Horses!” he wailed, dragging his hands down his face. “Giant! Horses!”
Kay perked up, trying to look through the archway. “Really? Can we see them?”
Bertie looked up at her with a sweaty forehead and hopeful eyes. “That’s the thing.” He laughed meekly. “I was hoping you two could take charge of them? I’m afraid I might get stepped on if I go near them again.”
Following Bertie into the stables, he led us to the end stalls, to where there were two of possibly the tallest horses I had ever seen in my life.
One was patterned like a cow, black and white patches covering it’s body, the other pitch black, with only small, pure white socks colouring the ends its fluffy hooves, and a singular white star-like stripe running down its head.
Feeling like one of those girls in those magical horse novels, I slowly approached the black one, its features resembling those of a Shire horse – fitting, considering where we were. Kay’s looked like a Clydesdale, and I watched from the corner of my eye as she neared it, wonder glinting in her eyes as she offered her hand. I followed with my own, looking up at the beast that towered over me, the top of my head barely reaching its snout despite my tall height, as it’s black eyes peered back down to meet my own dark brown ones.
“Now you know why I can’t look after them myself.” Bertie half-laughed, flitting his eyes between the two animals, keeping his distance from the two animals as he watched, scuffing his heel against the floor like he wanted to bolt. “They’re girls, so hopefully won’t be territorial or anything that could cause issues with the ponies.”
I snorted. “I’m pretty sure you’ve just given the ponies two empresses to worship – they’ll probably follow them around the pasture like loyal minions whenever they’re together.” I grinned as I faced the poor hobbit, who looked on the verge of trembling.
He took a shaky breath. “Ok, well, you can do what you like with them, just make sure they don’t go mental and destroy half the place. Please.”
“I doubt they’ll do that.” Piped up Kay, who had now managed to start stroking the snout of her horse. “If you managed to get them here without a fuss, then they should remain docile.” She gave him a reassuring smile. “Hopefully.”
After that, Bertie quickly wrapped up the conversation, clearly desperate to get elsewhere so he didn’t have to face the two powerhouses bunking in the stables next to each other. He had mumbled about finding saddles and equipment large enough for them, before quickly scurrying off.
Turning back to face the horse in front of me, I reached up to gently place my hand on its sloping snout. “What’re you naming yours?” I asked, turning to her.
Looking up at the pink snout that was trying to nibble at her hand, she pondered for a moment. “Mmm, something like Calhourn maybe.”
“Nice.” I complimented. “I thought you would’ve gone for something like Moo Moo.”
She snorted. “That’s something you would go for.” She paused. “But it is a strong contender. Perhaps I’ll have it as a nickname.” She turned to me. “What’re you gonna choose?”
“Spleens.”
“No.”
“Ok, how about Felony?”
“Better, cooler, sounds like a name, but maybe choose something more… socially acceptable.”
I grunted in annoyance. “I want a name that disturbs people when they hear it – it’ll be a good conversation starter.”
“It’ll also be a good way to start the conversation of creating Middle Earth’s first mental asylum.” Kay deadpanned. “You can name something like your first pet cat Spleens, but not a horse that you could be riding into battle and potentially have written down in history.”
“But it’ll be the most remembered.” I pouted.
“And the most judged. Now, save the poor horse her dignity and give her a nice name.” she demanded.
“Doo Doo Daggins.”
“I swear to god.”
“Ok! Ok!” I giggled, petting the horse’s snout as she nudged at my hand. “Something fancy then.”
She nodded. “Yea, maybe something that relates to something you do? I don’t know – your witch stuff has a lot of fancy words in it.”
My eyes lit up. “Ohh! What about Hecate!? It links to my practice, and could be some type of dedication to her as a deity!”
Kay raised her brows. “That’s actually not bad. You gonna give her a nickname?”
I pondered for a moment. “Yea. Spleens.”
Kay just sighed.

Okay, so you said positive reinforcement helps with your writing, so buckle up. "Pieces"-- Literally the level of writing I aspire to be at. It's SO. WELL. DONE. Including the latest chapter and I'm sure the rest will be amazing, too. "Party Favours"-- my number one comfort fic of all time. I go back and reread it CONSTANTLY, any time I need a bit of a pick-me-up. Also the kiss scene in the hallway is THE HOTTEST THING I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE. "Bleeding Heart"/ "An Honest Lie"-- You write Rosalie with so much love that it has made ME love her (so much so that I'm a little like "move over Astarion, she's out of both of our leagues but I know how to treat her right") and I reread chapters all the time. The dialogue alone is top notch. Lastly, I mean, I know NOTHING about Dragon Age or Shadow and Bone but I MUST LEARN so I can read the rest of your stuff. You're so incredibly talented. Every writer has their anxieties and insecurities so it's understandable and obviously valid that you have them too, but *takes you gently by the shoulders* YOU ARE SO GIFTED. And we are all super grateful for you sharing your gift with us. So thank you. So so much!
thank you anon, this message was very kind and the bit about Rosalie made me laugh - nothing like making an OC who stews in self-hate and then watch her get a line of suitors and still be like "I do not see it 😔". (and then going to therapy and my therapist staring at me meaningfully and I simply reply: "I do not see it😔".)
i appreciate the positive reinforcement. I've since realised that I got a little lost after chapter 19 of Pieces, because it was this massive plot point I'd been building up to, and while it had been really scary at the time and I felt a lot of pressure to get it right, the pressure did at least help to guide me forward and give me something to aim for. I've now got to find something new to aim for! While I know what the ending of the fic is, it's back to meandering my way to get there rather than having every single scene hammered down. Idk, I think possibly I am burned out and so things may slow down for a while? But I'm glad of the reminder that people enjoy my writing and I will hopefully have more updates for people soon xx
(also, don't learn about Shadow and Bone, don't do that to yourself, don't let netflix hurt you like that. Dragon Age is however BG3's spiritual predecessor so if you need more fantasy games with romance options you should buy it immediately x)

I Can't Remember // KNB Characters x gn! Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: it ain't me if I'm not writing fanfic based on my irl experiences bc I'm that one bitch that's always daydreaming, even when she's supposed to be socializing 😩
Context: A long awaited weekend on the beach with your friends finally comes... and there isn't much of it that you can remember. All characters are aged up for plot purposes (early 20s)
Pairing: there's just a bunch of character there so no real pairing, slight Aomine x reader and Kiyoshi x reader tho I really couldn't help myself
Warnings: mention of alcohol, heavy drinking, some flirting here and there, language, 3.6k words because I got inspired lmao but overwise it's just crack 🤭
Tumblr media
You open the fridge, hoping with all of your heart that what you've been looking for is here, and to your enjoyment, a last bottle of beer stands in between a block of cheese and yesterday's pasta. You hum, before going outside. As the sunrays hit your face, you squint, the light appearing particularly bright this morning. You finally sit on the small wall between the beach house and the sea, when your eyes have adjusted to the daylight.
“Yo” you hear a voice behind you.
You take a sip before turning around. The blue-haired boy stands nonchalantly against the door frame, looking as if he just came back from a ten days journey in the desert.
“Hey” you reply, voice raspy.
He sits next to you, and you both remain silent for a while, the only noises being the gentle waves, and the very subtle fizz of your drink.
“You look rough” lets out the man.
“Same to you.”
You both laugh. You do, indeed, look terrible. Hair going in all directions, dark circles under your eyes, dry lips and that weird tint on your skin. As for Aomine, it's roughly the same, but he still has his usual charm, even while looking like this.
“Haven't you had enough last night?” He asks while tapping your bottle with the tip of his finger.
“It's the cure to a hangover. This, and dumplings.”
“Give me some then.”
You pass the bottle to him, hands cupping your face as you pull your knees to your chest. You don't have a headache, thank god, and you're pretty sure that you haven't puked, but god are you tired. The thing is, you have no idea when you fell asleep, you just know that you woke up this morning, with Riko's hand on your face and one of your shoes missing.
The rest of the night? A total blur. You have very vague images, but remembering them is as hard as remembering a dream you had ten years ago. You haven't checked your phone, you don't know where it is. Hopefully, somewhere in the house. You better find it soon; beside the fact that you rely on it to function, it's also Sunday and your parents will certainly call tonight as they usually do on Sundays. And this time, when they'll ask you how was your weekend, well... Well, you'd surely have stories to tell, if you'd remember any.
“Daiki, do you remember last night?”
He raises an eyebrow at you, amused by the question. You land a friendly slap on his shoulder – he shouldn't be making fun of you, for all you know, he's probably as bad as you.
“Some stuff. You challenged me to a shot competition, and I won, and then you said that I cheated.”
“You probably did” you scoff, earning a nudge in the shoulder from him.
You sigh. The sky is as clearer as ever, but you can't say that much about your mind. Usually filling the role of the smart one, the one who has an answer to anything – basically being a walking version of Google – it's weird for you to be missing some information. At the same time, you don't want to blame yourself. It has been a rough semester, and you've desperately needed to let off some steam.
“Shouldn't we do something about this blackout?”
Your friend raises his shoulder.
“We'll see it all in the pictures and videos.”
“I lost my phone dude, I have no idea what I've done last night.”
You chuckle, taking a sip of your beer. It amuses you, to a certain extent, the idea that you've been totally unhinged last night. It only makes sense, you figure; you've had your first drink at 3PM, you haven't stopped from that point on. To be fair, you were pretty thirsty after the drive from your apartment to the beach house. In the early summer heat, you were packed in a car with Riko, her boyfriend Junpei, and his roommate Teppei. Sitting at the back between bags and the giant body of Teppei, it only made sense that you required a fresh beer once you’ve arrived. This might be the last time that you’ve had a clear mind, remembering what you’ve been up to.
“I’ve left mine on the couch I think, should we take a look?”
You look up to him, raising your eyebrows. For all you know, the secrets of last night might all be in his phone. Gathering the little energy that you have left, you get up from your seat on the wall, getting back inside. You squint your eyes; you haven’t realized how bright it was outside. The living room is a mess, not as much as you’d expected it to be, though. A couple of glasses are laying around here and there, and you don’t fail to notice to bottles aligned against the wall, witnessing of the wildness of last night. And you obviously cannot ignore the large body of Taiga, passed out on the couch with his shirt opened. You chuckle softly, nudging the blue-haired boy next to you in the ribs so he’ll look at your common friend.
“Shit, he looks rough” he scoffs.
You nod in approval. Deep inside, it feels reassuring to know that you aren’t the only one who has been slightly overboard, and the idea of someone sharing your blackout is rather comforting. You advance towards the sleeping boy, bending in front of me. Despite only half of his body fitting on the couch, he looks comfortable, in deep slumber and you hesitate to wake him up. Yet, you have to, in order to retrieve Daiki’s phone. Granted, you can also wait for the others to be up and question them so you can piece out your misadventures of last night; but you are impatient, and before anything else, you cannot stand being in a blur for much longer. So you take in a long breath, hand slowly poking at Kagami’s cheek.
“Hey big boy” you mutter softly.
He groans, but doesn’t budge. Your hand trails to his shoulder, that you shake lightly. Again, no response.
“You’re being too delicate, shake the motherfucker up” Daiki sighs.
“I don’t wanna be too violent” you pout.
He rolls his eyes, and before you know it, he pushes you aside, his big hand lightly slapping your friend’s cheek.
“Oi, wakey wakey.”
The red-haired boy finally opens his eyes – with much struggle – facing the bored eyes of Daiki. He grunts, taking a moment to fully awaken. For a couple of second, he feels like he comes back from the dead, and reality sinks in at a painfully slow pace. When he finally gathers his surroundings, he lays his eyes on you.
“Sup?” he greats, voice husky.
You smile. He really is in a worse state than yours.
“Feeling like shit. Sorry to wake you up Taiga, but you’re sleeping on Dai’s phone.”
He moves, propping himself up in a sitting position. You’ve never witnessed the basketball player moving so slowly before: in a sloth-like demeanour, he rubs his face and stretches his limbs, before lifting the pillows, looking for the phone. And when he finally does, discovering it in the folds of the couch, he sighs, giving it back to its owner. Daiki shoots him an irritated glance; though he doesn’t say a word, you can read his thoughts clearly on his face. The fact that Taiga’s spent the night sleeping on his phone is enough to annoy him, but maybe somewhere inside him he restrains from making a fuss because none of you are in the state to stand an insignificant quarrel. It takes a few seconds for him to check his battery, then his notifications, before he opens the gallery. You look at him, impatiently waiting.
“Let’s sit” he finally says.
And you do so, joining Kagami on the couch as the blue-haired boy sits between you, ready to show the content of his screen. The first picture is a normal group selfie. Daiki, Satsuki, and Tetsuya, smiling as they hold their cups. It’s cute, but nothing that leads you to retrace your adventures of last night. He scrolls through a bunch of other pictures of that sort, amongst some blurry shots of random moments. Then he stops at a video, exchanging a look with you before pressing on play.
“Whose phone is that? Anyways, look… oh wait, this angle isn’t doing me any good – “
Aomine puts the video on pause, swearing under his beard as he sees the familiar face of the group’s absolute party guy. Kise Ryōta. It’s probably the hangover, but hearing his cheerful voice clearly puts Daiki in a mood, and for a second there, he is tempted to delete the video, so he doesn't have to suffer through it. But the second he lays his eyes on you, he reminds himself of the reason why he absolutely wanted to retrieve his phone in the first place. So he plays the rest, just for your sake. You all stay in silence as you watch the blond change the angle to make him appear under his best light, shooting one of his typical smiles at the camera.
“Looks like there’s romance in the air…”
He chuckles, before zooming behind him. In the darkness of the night, it’s hard to tell what is going on, but you manage to distinguish two bodies standing close on the sand. The video then stops there. What they are doing is unclear, but you recognize the outfits; one being Kiyoshi’s and the other one being yours.
Your eyes open wide. You obviously have no recollection of that part of the night, and you fear what you may have done. It’s not unusual for you to get flirty when drunk, and you have to admit that you’ve always had the sweetest crush on the tall brunette. But it deeply bothers you that you cannot tell what this interaction was about, and what happened after.
“Wow, so you and Teppei, huh?” Kagami lets out.
You groan, rubbing your eyes.
“I have no fucking idea what’s going on there” you complain. “For all I know, it’s nothing… but it might be something too.”
You sink further in the couch, trying to figure out how to sort this out. Unfortunately, your mind is too much in a fog for you to solve your problem, and it takes Daiki scrolling through the pictures again for you to come back to Earth. After some shots of what seems to be a round of drinking games and some weird dancing, your attention is caught by a series of pictures that includes you, in your swimsuit, in the darkness of the night, going for a swim.
“Ah, see, this is what I like” comments Daiki.
“What do you mean?”
“Love to see the little nerd of our group going for a midnight swim. Granted, you’re unfortunately not butt ass naked, but still.”
He laughs, scrolling through more pictures of you in the pitch-black ocean, with the widest grin on your face. And suddenly, you feel some memories rushing back. The feeling of the cool water against your bare skin, the sound of your friends cheering you for going in the water, the splashes of the waves, the smell of the ocean. You sit back for a minute, reconstituting this part of the night in your mind. You remember, talking about a midnight swim with Riko. She said that she’d never done that, and neither did you, given that you’ve never been on the seashore at night before. You remember, pouring some alcohol in your glass while you considered giving it a try. You’ve downed your glass before changing in your swimsuit, and rushing outside in the cool summer night.
“Where the fuck was I when all this happened?” asks the red-haired boy in a state of complete loss.
You furrow your brows, zooming in on one of the pictures, then increasing the brightness of the screen.
“Here you are dummy, right there” points Daiki.
And indeed, it seems that you weren’t alone in your midnight swim. You chuckle lightly, seeing Kagami’s giant body being engulfed by waves, some bits of that moments reappearing to you at the same time. You remember, the tall boy as wasted as you, running towards the waves, stumbling in the sand first before getting up and giggling like a child. You smile at yourself as these memories come; somehow, it is reassuring to know that you’ve done nothing too embarrassing last night. Although, there is still that interaction with Teppei that remains a mystery. God knows what you’ve been doing with him, and for your own sake, you pray it was yet another moment of senseless words and laughs, like the rest of the night seemed to be. You stretch, relieved at your discovery. Sure, the whole night isn’t documented in Daiki’s phone, and your own phone as well as one of your shoes is still missing, but so far, it doesn’t seem as bad as you’ve imagined.
“Good morning kids.”
The three of you jump hearing a new voice, and you eye up to see Kasamatsu standing in front of you, in what looks like a jogging attire. By the coat of sweat on his arms and the earphones dangling around his neck, he indeed looks like he’s just came back from a run, and you can’t help but sending him a confused look. How the hell is he in a good enough shape to go for a run after last night?
“You fucking freak” Aomine shoots a gaze as incredulous as yours to the guy.
Kasamatsu shakes the comment away, going to the open kitchen to pour himself a large glass of water.
“Some of us only had a few drinks last night” he retorts with an amused smile.
It must, in fact, be hilarious to look at Aomine, Kagami and you at this very instant. In appearance, it looks like you’ve been through a lot – and a lot, you’ve indeed been through. And as you get lost in your blurred thoughts, you get a moment of clarity, realising that if you seek more information on your night, Kasamatsu may certainly hold all the knowledge you want. As fast as you can, you get up, rushing to him. Pleading eyes meet his intrigued blue irises, while he finishes his glass.
“You still remember last night, don’t you?”
“I do” he raises an eyebrow at you.
“Good, because I completely blacked out” you complain.
“And you want me to give you some clarity” he reads into your mind.
You positively nod, and he laughs before patting the top of your head. Like the rest of the friend group, Kasamatsu has always known you as the one person who always has everything under their control; you’re the one the rest comes to, looking for answers and some order. But if someone surpasses you when it comes to having their shit together, it must be Yukio. Excellent grades, an apartment that’s always properly organized and cleaned, a healthy social life, and always taking care of himself and the one he loves. It may not be surprising, all things considered, that he is the only sober one after last night's wildness. And it might also be endearing to him to see you like that, knowing that you’ve finally let loose.
“For the most part, you had fun” he starts. “Nothing too wild, if that’s what you’re wondering… except some of your dance moves with Daiki.”
“Huh?” the concerned raises up after hearing his name.
“Yeah, you two got a bit hot on some dancehall. Don’t you remember?”
Your eyes open wide as you look at your friend, barely recalling any of that. The single thought of you getting physically close to Daiki seems like an absurdity, but you also know that Yukio wouldn’t lie. A flash of fright crosses between you and the blue-haired boy, all while Taiga laughs at the situation. And it must be funny, from an external perspective. Everyone knows that Daiki and you are the kind of friends that always keep distance between them. Sure, you tease each other from time to time, but things never go further. Not that you’d want to – Daiki is at best a brother to you, nothing more.
“The things alcohol make people do” sighs Kagami, as if he’s in any position to talk.
You shake your head, when glimpses of this event comes back to you. The image of Aomine’s large hands on your waist appears to you, and for a second, you remember a whiff of his perfume. Red gains your cheeks, when more hazy images come to you. Hips swaying, barely any space between your two bodies, your fingers tangled in his short hair.
“Fuck, you’re kinda hot right now.”
“I know.”
As these words whispered between you resurface, you go back to worrying about stupid things you might have done last night. Just as you’ve finally reassured yourself that you’ve been overall a good kid, you had to be hit by these memories.
“To be fair, it shouldn’t matter if none of us remember any of it” says Daiki.
The issue is that you apparently remember some of it. But he may be right, you both have an alibi. Blame it on the liquor, none of it was done in all consciousness. It’s just dumb drunk people activity.
“Yeah, it doesn’t count” you say more for yourself than for him.
An awkward silence follows suit. If you were in such state that you’ve had a moment like this with Daiki, then maybe you might have done something of the same degree – or worse – with Kiyoshi. The worries that you’ve previously had come back, and you try to rack your brain up, looking for anything. Unfortunately, nothing comes. There is only one way for you to recover the truth, and that would be to ask Kiyoshi about it, with hope that he remembers it. But the possibility that you’ve done something in the slightest embarrassing stops you from doing so. How can you face him if you’ve been acting stupid with him?
But no, you should ask him. You cannot go back home leaving this mystery alive. You need to know, and as the adult you are, you’ll deal with the consequences of your actions in due time. You take in a big breath, gathering all your courage before going to the room where you believe you’ll find the giant brunette. You still remember that he’s left his bags in the bedroom next to the one you’ve been sleeping in. The three boys watch you, perplexed by your actions. The door opens in a silent creek, and you peak inside. The curtains are half closed, and taking all the single mattress, Teppei is laying there, on his phone. The bed next to his is unoccupied; it was supposed to be Hyuga’s but the latter was in the bed you were sharing with his girlfriend. Hearing you, he looks up, shooting you a tired but nice smile. Your heart flutters – you really hope that you’ve behaved yourself last night, because God, do you have a crush on the man.
“Hey there” he says.
You greet him back, closing the door behind you. You figure it’s easier to go straight to the point, so you sit on the empty bed, fiddling with your fingers.
“So, huh… I kinda don’t remember much of last night” you confess. “But apparently we’ve had a little interaction outside?”
“What? Oh, yeah. We had a nice moment outside.”
You nod, looking at him as he moves to face you. You only now notice that he is only in his underwear, which makes you blush furiously. He has no business to look like that when you’re trying to figure out if you’ve made a fool of yourself in front of him or not.
“Did we? I really can’t remember.”
He laughs.
“We did, had a nice talk about stuff. It was fun. Kinda sad that you don’t remember it though.”
“Yeah…”
“Is that all?”
You nod, feeling his gaze on you. A smile creeps on his lips, while he rests his head in his palm.
“You’re wondering if you’ve done or said anything embarrassing, don’t you?”
You sigh, an awkward laugh escaping your lips.
“Yeah, I can get quite… special, when I’m drunk.”
“Well, be assured, you were just the right kind of fun.”
And as these words reach you, you let out the breath you were holding. This morning has been a rollercoaster, as each information you’ve gathered from last night has sparked different reactions. But you feel light now that you’ve resolved the biggest mystery. It’s truly not as bad as you’ve envisioned; as a matter of fact, it isn’t bad at all. You’ve just been talking, nothing romantic there, so nothing to worry about. Maybe this whole fuss is to blame on Kise, he’s the one that framed you in a way that made it look like you were flirting with Kiyoshi or what not. You’ll maybe scold him later.
You shoot a last smile at the brunette before getting up, finally at peace.
“Well, if it was nothing, I’ll let you rest” you say as you go to grab the doorknob.
“Oh! If you don’t remember last night, is the date invitation still standing?”
And here it is, the thing you feared.
“The what?”
You may not remember last night, but there’s one thing that you’ll keep in mind forever, and that is that you will never drink as much as you did ever again.

I will try my best to be on tonight and get a couple of things done hopefully! Soon I’ll have a week off and I’ll be able to do some catching up which will help me tremendously.
May potentially drop more threads only because I’ve been stuck on a lot of them and I think because I’m so stunted with them, it’s making me stunted with everything else? Idk, it’s a possibility and not set in stone.
If I do drop threads and ask to write new things up with you, don’t take it personally please. It’s not that I hated them, it’s simply because my brain is fried green tomatoes and won’t let me come up with good enough replies. So just be aware of that tidbit, please. Dropping threads is a last minute resort I only ever do if I feel incredibly overwhelmed and stunted creatively so please don’t think it’s a personal attack on you or your writing because it isn’t and it never will be, it’s just my brain not braining right.
If you’ve read this much I appreciate you lmfao hopefully I’ll see you lot in a couple of hours! I am available though for plotting so please please please if you want to plot some fun stuff out, let me know!!!

not take ALL THE TIME to reply,,, (well not more than a week cause i might be worried) but i totally see that for Zuko and I applaud for your vision. I'm personally a spiteful cold edge snarky person with a smidge of hot headedness so i would relate more for the reader. I think the combo would be perfect 100%
as for sleeping bag you are right.... my only thought now it's either maybe the reader has a bigger bag because "it's a water tribe thing" or something like that OR share the same tent instead
im also thinking a maybe one sentimental night kind of ordeal (if theyw ere to share the same tent) like a either one of them wakes up for a breath of fresh air then the other wakes up to check up on them (cliche i know). if it were zuko being the person to wake up then maybe before the reader goes out to find Zuko they have conflicting thoughts about checking on him cause their still somewhat "hating" him,,, thoughts like
"Maybe he went to go take a wazz.... nah probably still hungry and is trying to steal my LEFTOVER SOUP.... wait no i would've heard the clanking sounds.... he doesn't sound close at all.... wait what if he's in trouble?? what if he's HURT,,,, hold on he's a firebender he should be fin- wait why am i thinking so hard about this. AHHHHHHHHH fuck it i'm gonna go check on him, i can't sleep knowing where the fuck he is and aang is gonna air bend me to space if anything happens to his only fire bending master"
OOOOOO also at some point (even though this already happened with toph kind of but whatever) maybe in the period where they start to question their feelings and stuff Zuko accidentally burns her hand? i'm thinking like maybe he was thrown off by something she said while putting more heat into the fire pit while she's stirring the pot or something and accidentally makes the fire bigger? thus burning her hand? something like that THEN OUT OF PANIC he runs over to her and grabs her hands and they get this AWKWARD "OH MY GOD THEIR CLOSE TO ME" moment and yeah
I apologize... to the followers who see these walls of texts,,,, im just a very shy person ,,,,,hyguhhh ALSO I HAVE NO WORKT EH NEXT 3 DAYS SO I WILL BE MORE ACTIVE and hopefully have more ideas then <3
HI HELLO! I check tumblr pretty much daily, and asks show up in my phone’s notifications, so I’ll reply as soon as I see them. The only times I’m really away for long periods of time is when I’m either really busy or have really bad writer’s block, which I actually did have before this request, haha. But even then, I usually glance at tumblr. Either way, you won’t have to worry about me vanishing.
The tent thing is great, I love that. They should totally be forced to share a tent. I do like the accidentally burning thing as well, since reader is a waterbender and can also heal herself. It could be a good opening to break down the walls between them. He’s fussing over her burn and they start to open up to each other a little bit. Could be good. 👀
Hahahaha my followers (of which there are way more than I ever expected to have now, we’re nearing 1K) know what they signed up for when they followed me, I’m known to post random bullshit related to whatever I’m fixated on, but I don’t think they’ve ever seen me liveblog the plotting of a story with an anon. They’re all sweethearts, though, and I treasure each and every one of them. They’re why I do what I do, I love writing and creating things people really enjoy.
I also have nearly 2k words written of the first chapter, and it’s going swimmingly. Not done yet, it’ll probably end up being maybe around 5-6k words? And that’s just the first chapter. Jesus, this thing is gonna be long, but it’s okay, I’m having fun.
Oooh! Exciting! Having time off work is always nice. I kind of had time off this last week because I had Covid, but that just made me get cabin fever really fast. Anyway, I look forward to the ideas coming through. I’ll definitely be around in the coming days, so don’t worry about that. I’m a college student, so I do have class from Tuesday to Thursday, but I’ll have plenty of time to write and chat about the story. I always have my phone on me, so don’t worry. I’ve grown to anticipate receiving asks from you anyway. :)

OH MY GOSH???
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR 100 FOLLOWERS!!!
Okay, so with that aside. I'm so sorry I've kind of just disappeared for almost a month, school is a pain and there's all this party planning stuff and just ugh. Anyway, thank you so so so much for 100 followers. When I joined tumblr I didn't expect much, when I posted that first story I expected maybe two three likes and this journey of getting a notification of seeing everyone's sweet replies or comments, asks for part twos on stories I didn't think people would like, participating in someone's writing challenge, it's just all been so great. So I say thank you.
I'm slowly trying to come back to you guys, I missed ya. I have a few stories I'm writing/plotting that I'm trying to finish, so hopefully I'll have some more stories out soon.
THANK YOU <333

Hello~☆ Here for my thoughts on your blog and it's actually the perfect timing bc I've been thinking on whether or not to tell you smth. That something being...
How grateful I am for you!💜!💜!💜! Like, I think you're one of the first yandere blogs that opened my eyes and really pulled me into this special hell. I like how you...stay in character? Might sound weird since you'd think that's the standard but it's just what I noticed. Like, they way you write characters is very much believable. And the way you write is also just so easy to read, digest and pops like a Nimm 2 candy. It was also kinda surprising to know that you're also German bc of how fluently and well you write but also bc it just feels very smth distinct I can't describe to know that there's smn who's also into this fucked up shit in the same country as me.
Anyways, I love your stuff and I owe you my life 🤗 take responsibility for what you've done to me
Tumblr media
Late replies, but thanks everyone who sent something in! I’ll go through it now ^-^
Thank you! I am really glad that I’m still able to keep up making the characters feel believable despite distorting their personalities! I’ve always tried to stay as much in-character as possible with my fanfiction, and I try to grab what I can for yandere and build on it (or wreck it hehe)!
I know that I make a lot of mistakes still, but I’m glad that it seems like non-primary english speakers are still able to read it! I think that’s already an achievement in itself :D You’d be surprised, though, how many Germans I got to know via my blogs, so you’re definitely not alone with whatever your preferences are! And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with enjoying what’s enjoyable for you personally :3 I’m glad that I’m able to give you the immersive experience through yandere in writing that makes you feel a lot of things!
Thank you for sharing and I hope you get to enjoy a lot more stories in the future!! ♥
I can’t take responsibility for your life tho, pls have mercy I can hardly manage my own x’D
Tumblr media
It’s never too late, thank you for reaching out ♥
With the concepts, it’s a lot like with the characters, where you set on a completely normal, harmless point and then just drag it down to hell. It’s just practice I’d say! Nevertheless, thank you for your kind words and support! It means a lot to hear you say these things about my stories, especially when I try (even when I’m struggling at times), to present them the way you just described! I hope you’ll enjoy a lot more of my stories in the future :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome back! I’m glad to hear from you again ^-^
(POV and perspective are both okay to use, no worries! :D) Thank you so much for your insight! I’m sure you noticed I’ve been trying different POVs lately, and from different people, so I’m glad you found them all enjoyable regardless! I definitely want to do more yandere pov in the future, especially with the prison project still running (I think that would put a very different, interesting light on things >:3), but sometimes I get insecure and just hope it’s not too difficult to read as a reader who might not be able to relate. But I’m glad you don’t seem to have a problem with that! :D More power to you!!
Reblogs are definitely the best form of support, even for older works! Oftentimes I see someone reblogging a piece from a while ago and suddenly it gains notes again! Tumblr algorithm is crazy sometimes, but it of course makes me really happy to see that my old writing gets another chance at life ^-^
As for the OC content, I will admit that has slacked a little. Rhys is mostly finished and I think a lot of people don’t really know him since he’s quite old, but I have one more general headcanon request for him which I will do (hopefully soon). I don’t think Atreo will be featured in the upcoming MerMay again but I am still working on plotting out the story, so who knows! However, it’ll feature three new OCs so... that’s something xD As for the Alien Project, which is not only hosting my OC but also other people’s OCs, that’s probably the best bet for OC content! The next time I get to write about it, we’ll get some more Azazel action at least, so that’s something to look forward to!
Otherwise, I hope you’ll enjoy the semi-oc’s I sometimes write about, and who will keep popping up here and there, but I don’t have any more planned aside from the mentioned above yet, sorry >-< Maybe the next time, we’ll switch things up and get a darling OC where we are the yandere? Who knows, but I think that could be fun as well ^-^
Stay safe & healthy as well, and thank you for checking in ♥

🦝 this is the longest shot in the world, but as they say, you never know unless you try it;
hey all! 🖤 I've fallen back into my Guardians Of The Galaxy Hell since the last movie came out. hence, I'm looking for some Marvel /MCU related threads. what kind? glad you asked! I have a huge muse for Gamora and would looooove to explore some of her relationships outside of starmora plus, hopefully, some really weird rarepairs. only looking for canonxcanon stuff at this point and I'm not looking to double up as a default. some of my ideas so far go as follows;
⋆ Rocket/Gamora; some bonding between unlikely friends, opening up and sharing their experience in feeling like they're an absolute monster who didn't ask to be made. possibility for humanoid!Rocket maybe? some kind of plot where his mortal coil is dying and they need to implant his being into another alien form, angst over the disconnect between bodies but also maybe romance ensues?
⋆ Kraglin/Gamora; just a good old country boy bonding with the other daughter of Thanos, maybe crushing on the girl who's technically supposed to be Peter's?
⋆ Warlock/Gamora; learning to exist together as the outsiders with The Guardians; Gamora growing exceedingly exasperated and endeared with his innocence in the world, perhaps?
⋆ Nebula/Gamora; purely platonic bonding between sisters. maybe it's now Nebula trying to teach the new Gamora how to exist in a world without Thanos? some sisterly bonding?
...and more! I have a ton of ideas I'm happy to share and honestly, I'm so happy to brainstorm with you. I'm also up to do any timeline, pretty much any AU, as long as I get to write Gamora against someone. def even if it's a non-Guardian, I'm totally ready to roll and happy to create some weird alternate crackship AU. romance, angst and fluff in an appropriate balance is what I'm all about. I love slow burn stuff and am open to picking up some of the side characters for Plot Reasons. if you wanna see 'em, I'll toss some writing samples your way no problem. NSFW isn't my main goal, but I'm not against it! what I'm looking for in a partner is;
20+, as I'm 30+ myself. someone who can communicate their needs and ideas. whom I can share OOC stuff like pics, headcanons, music etc with. good grammar, multipara, novella style, over discord. I usually reply at least daily, though sometimes life gets in the way; I'm hoping for a similar level of activity from you!
that's it, that's the long ass post! I hope to hear from you soon; just hit like on this and I'll come find you! if you have anything relating to roleplay or writing on your blog, that's a huge plus though not a necessity; I usually check the blogs before interacting just to avoid spam bots and such. be well all, and write with you soon! 🌱

4, 19, 29 ? for the ask game! also i hope you feel better soon ♡♡
hello! i first want to apologise for taking so long to reply x.x got busy with other stuff and forgot :S
- - - - - - - - - - - ♡ - - - - - - - - - - - ....................ask game - - - - - - - - - - - ♡ - - - - - - - - - - -
4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?
i actually do know why i haven't written it. when i was in another fandom i did a lot of worldbuilding for a vampire au. i wrote maybe 200k worth of lore. when it came to writing the story, however, i faltered and hesitated for months and then i left the fandom so i never got the chance to write that story. so now i carry that idea with me and i really want to write it (for whatever fandom, doesn't matter which), but i'm not sure i'll get to write it because i don't know if i'm able to match the serious tone of the universe i made up x.x (tl;dr, it's about character a being turned into a "faulty vampire" and having one lunar year to live, and character b, a normal vampire, trying to find ways to make their lives better and maybe, hopefully, finding a way to defy fate. it's full of (twisted for my own means) biblical concepts and nonsense and it was going to be very angsty and serious)
19. what are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?
i honestly have no idea. i grew up with fantasy books but i never really paid much attention to the author's styles. if i had to push myself, i'd say the following book series have inspired me the most: ★ "the hobbit" / "the lord of the rings" by j. r. r. tolkien these taught me to talk about tenderness, emotions and human connection even in (particularly in) the darkest of times ☆ "the kingkiller chronicle" by patrick rothfuss these ones are stellar at showcasing the effects of trauma in characters and groups of people (which i guess is the focus of many of my stories) ★ "a game of thrones" by george r. r. martin this was the first time i properly paid attention to worldbuilding so now i try to consider a lot of the aspects this man seamlessly weaved into the story ☆ "the idhun chronicles" by laura gallego garcía these are very good at worldbuilding too. more than anything, one of the three main characters is the bad guy for most of the story and his redemption arc is as complex as zuko's in atla (which i watched like ten years later x.x) so yeah, it taught me about complex characters (i also read a lot of gothic and classical literature but we'll be here all day if i start talking about that + those came later in my life) all this said, i think my main inspirations have always been videogames (way too many to even mention, but i shall give special mention to the "to the moon" series; i like the non-linear way you learn the story), as well as movies ("the crow" from 1994 is my favourite film ever) and tv shows (i lean towards self-contained stories, so i prefer shows like "hannibal" and "zankyou no terror" / "death parade" over series that go on for so long they become bad x.x). i guess i like the visual aspect of them. last, my actual one defined inspiration: dani filth, singer and songwriter of the band cradle of filth. the man's usage of language and his storytelling have always had a huge impact in the stories i like to tell, and his combination of fantasy, gothic elements, roman satire and shakespearean flare is just outstanding. cradle of filth is an extreme metal band, so probably not everyone's taste; that said, they are a good introduction to that type of music so give them a shot if you want. be careful though; as the name suggest, they usually talk about the darkness of humanity and they are not shy to mention the most harrowing and disturbing topics, so massive trigger warning for just about any icky topic you can think of.
29. give us a spoiler for one of your stories
right, i'm going to give one for each of my main wip's... i guess it's only fair that i start with the darkest eyes, seeing as i haven't updated in a while. so, mike's substance use will continue to get worse and during chapter 11, we will see him at his worst. this triggers some memories, so this chapter is hopper's recollection of the events that transpired two years earlier: their arduous fight against vecna, the state of the party back then and, more importantly, the various incidents that involved mike, from the demogorgon attack, to his time at the hospital (including an incident that's been hinted at, but only max knows about), to his state after the final battle. also, the harold storyline comes back around that time because that asshole killed more than one kid (<- - - - there, an actual spoiler lol) now, about the trees are growing restless,,, mike's not the only one who's stuck in the loop. there's someone else, someone i've already mentioned so you can probably figure out who it is quite easily. anyway, this person at one point suggest that maybe they can get help from owens and his friends, a suggestion that carries many issues because they don't really have a way to contact him. they eventually manage, but for four days mike goes through literal hell and this one is not bad because of the mind flayer or vecna, but because of the various human enemies we've met. also, mike's not in a vecna trance (or is he?). the time loop is decently real and the root is a little someone you know quite well. last, about sin deep, my darling angel (just because i love this story and might start it soon): mike's a demon. it's going to be a tag so that won't be much of a spoiler but i left it ambiguous in the summary i posted
thanks for the good wishes~ hope this answered the questions adequately :]
