“When I was younger,” Henry says, “I had this very elaborate idea of taking somebody I loved here and standing inside the chapel, that he’d love it as much as I did, and we’d slow dance right in front of the Blessed Mother. Just a … daft pubescent fantasy.” Alex takes his hand, and Henry turns to face the chapel like a nervous postulant, his cheeks hollowed out in the low light, before pulling Alex into it. When they kiss, Alex can hear a half-remembered old proverb from catechism, mixed up between translations of the book: “Come, hijo mío, de la miel, porque es buena, and the honeycomb, sweet to thy taste.” He wonders what Santa Chiara would think of them, a lost David and Jonathan, turning slowly on the spot. He brings Henry’s hand to his mouth and kisses the little knob of his knuckle, the skin over the blue vein there, bloodlines, pulses, the old blood kept in perpetuity within these walls, and he thinks, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, amen.

No because that hurt me! Lando Norris x Girlfriend! Reader Part 2
Plot: Lando goes one step too far ...
Credit to purplephantomwolf for the GIF
Tumblr media
As you'd promised you'd gone straight back to London, you thrown yourself into your work. You spent the days on the construction sight for the new house you were flipping, overseeing the progress. You spent the evenings in the studio working on more plans for the interior of the house.
But you did miss him, of course you missed him.
He was your person ...
Your guy...
The love of your life.
In the time that you'd come home however, videos had surfaced, many videos had surfaced...
The first was of you and Lando in the club, someone from a table across from the one your friends had been sat in showed how Lando had acted towards you and how his friends had tried to back you up. The next was of you running up to Alex, begging for a lift.
Afterwards, videos were leaked of the rest of Lando's night where he celebrated his win, by dancing with his friends and random girls that were being pulled into the big group. Nothing scandalous but enough to upset the fans who really liked you.
Later on, after the first few videos came out a video came out of Max Fewtrell and him arguing before him and Pietra left. Max actually pushed him a little and lots of hand gestures were flying round, but Lando looked just as angry as Max did.
Normally when you were in London, people knew they'd get content on your Instagram stories of you doing what you do best. People had suggested you to start a YouTube because your live's and reels were so funny that they'd definitely spend the time watching.
But you'd been dark since the argument with Lando and people were getting worried including Lando. So when you posted a titkok with your team, in the trend that AstonMartin did where the camera is up high above and you all do funny things, the media went crazy.
You then posted a video on instagram talking about the new house and the progress that was coming on.
"Hey guys! Y/N here! Just wanted to show you how the latest project is coming on. We've torn down the living room and put all new flooring in, which actually has built in underfloor heating which i think here in the UK is a real money move. We're going to hook it all up to a central network from the hallway as you walk in, which we finally finished the painting for that last week" you pan showing the round the areas you'd been talking about.
You showed you and one of the girls tearing down the kitchen.
Captioned 'Best Part of the Job, Free Rage Room', which is how you'd always referred to the demolition phase of house flipping. People on twitter of course took it out of context and rumors started flying that you and Lando had in fact called it splits, even one of those WAG update pages 'confirming' the breakup from close sources.
You'd found it laughable really, but you knew it would be hurting Lando, and no matter how much he hurt you ... you weren't a bitter person. You didn't want him hurting as well.
You were sat in your studio at your desk, sketching for the garden. The pen was currently in your mouth, sat back debating whether you should reach out to Lando or wait for him to come to you.
It had been three weeks at this point with no communication. You'd spoken to Lando's family, who had talked with you about everything that had happened. Cisca and Adam had apologized for their sons behavior.
As you were about to pick up your phone, caving in to messaging Lando first when you swore you wouldn't on knock on your wooden studio door sounds.
You frown, wondering who on earth would be coming to you at this time of the night. You weren't even open, office hours were long over. It was about 11pm, so your clients knew you weren't taking calls even though you were still here and working with a light on.
You open the door, bolt and latch on for added protection.
"Lando?" you ask seeing the curly haired boy, hoodie up and his eyes looking more tired than you'd ever seen them.
"You want to open up and let me in baby?" he asks softly, a slight crack to his voice.
"I was just about to call you" you admit, unlatching the door so it swings open fully. He stops just under the arch of the door observing you. It was like he was having a small inward debate with himself.
"Gonna cave coz you miss me?" he jokes, testing the waters. He didn't know how you were now that you'd have some time apart. He was hopeful that he could talk to you again and fix what had happened.
"Honestly yeah. I hate you and how much of a hold you have on me" you admit, leaning back into your chair directing him to the sofa.
"I came here, to say I'm sorry and that I was horrible to you. And I know it's not excuse but I want to explain what happened. In full... I think you deserve more than an explanation... but I think you need one for if we are ever going to go back to what we were" he sighs. He leans forward and takes your hand into his.
He explains how, after the race people told him you'd said you were leaving the race track. So he went to the hotel to find you, only for you not to be there, Max came round and said you were probably getting ready with the girls as P had told him you were all gonna meet them there.
"I didn't think this was too out of the ordinary for you, your especially close with P and Lily, and it wouldn't shock me if Kelly and Kika would drag you all into a girl pre-club party in their hotel room..." he laughs knowing that normally you and P would do each other's makeup when Max and her came to race weekends. Or you and Lily would switch outfit's loving to venture into each other's styles.
When he got to the club and no-one had seen you, and Pierre and Charles had come up to him with celebratory shots, he hadn't declined.
"The shots were the start of what slowly just went downhill, I don't think i ever want to drink that much again, I was so happy at the start" he laughs flushing red and the thought of him knocking back shots, which was rare considering he didn't like to drink. He wouldn't be doing it anytime soon that was for sure.
"You deserved to celebrate though baby, don't make it seem like you shouldn't have had a fun night" you admit, both of you were being open and mature adults right now. You were so glad you'd both spent some time apart to think before you fought more, now you were both talking and listening to each other and you couldn't help but think it was beautiful and intimate.
After the three hour mark he was fed up that you hadn't bothered to show up at such an important night for him. Talking to Charles and Pierre who were also drunk, weren't the best influences on suggesting places you could be. All of them being ones his drunk mind could picture vividly, his sober mind would have known his girl would never dream of doing that to him.
"Charles said some things and I know sober me would have known you wouldn't do that, but i was already angry thinking you'd just ditched me. I shouldn't have drunk as much and I know its no excuse... but" he starts and you nod.
"The main thing is you know how you would have acted. Yes you upset me, yes your hurt me because you said some horrible things to me..."
"Yeah, I've heard the video and It wasn't my intention to embarrass you the way I did, especially in front of our friends. I'm so so sorry!" he admits.
The other group, had tried to convince him that maybe you'd just got held up and thats where Oscar, Lily, Max and P had all messaged you.
"Baby, I'm so so sorry that i wasn't there for you after what happened!" he says tears in his eyes. This would forever be one of his biggest regrets in life, not being there for you when you needed him.
"How did you find out?" you gulp, not really wanting to think about what could have happened that night if it wasn't for the Mclaren Mechanics.
"Well, after having a scolding from Oscar, and Max, and Alex, and Zac... the mechanics also threatened to botch my pit stops. So i listened to what they did for you"
"Mmmm it was scary. All i wanted was you" you nod, rubbing a thumb across his hand.
"I'm so so sorry, I promised you that i'd protect you always. And I've failed!" he says with a little snivel and tears brimming his eyes.
"You've not failed, you just made a mistake, there's been some miscommunication and Charles and Pierre didn't help with their boyish meddling but ... we'll get there" you smile before pulling closer to him and nuzzling into his neck breathing in his sent.
"Do you think you'll ever forgive me?" he asks softly pulling you back so he can fully look at you.
"I already have, darling" you smile.
"What did i ever do to deserve you, I don't think i do" he smiles.
"Hmmmm, well I think the historians will argue one day its me who didn't deserve you" you sigh, brushing some of his hair back.
"I doubt that" he scoffs, knowing that when you first started dating, even with your lack of status people still thought you were too kind, too sweet and too innocent for someone as jokey and brash as Lando was seen to be.
"I've never had anyone treat me the way you do, I'm so so in love with you. And I don't ever want the feelings I have when i think of you and see you to stop. I feel like i can do anything when i have you by my side. Why do you think the first person i seeked out was you?" you offer, softly leaning in and placing a kiss on the corner of his lips.
You guys, talked more that night. About how you actually had fun helping the Mclaren boys pack up, regardless if you thought Lando had forgotten about you.
A week later and the media had picked up on the sighting the paps had got of both of you. Some fans had seen you both at a restaurant and make posts on it.
The comments bashed you either way, being between saying how silly you were for taking him back or the others saying they were upset you were back. It got to the point where you had to release a statement saying that you and Lando, are grown adults who can talk through the miscommunication and issues you'd experienced and were better for it now.
"I love you so much, and I'm never ever ever acting up like that again" he says as you help him do up his fire suit for the race you were currently at with him.
"I love you too, now go out and get another win for me baby so we can celebrate properly this time" you smile, kissing him before Jon comes forward asking for Lando's presence in the front of the garage.
A/N: I hope you guys think this did the first part justice as so many people requested a Part 2, so I'm really scared that this hasn't done it justice! If you want a rewrite with something better... something longer where its more of a series. Or where it goes the opposite way and it takes her longer to forgive him let me know. I just thought that Y/N and Lando in this one specifically would be the type to maturely talk about things!

whenever i think of lil domestic life blurbs the first thing i think is "hmm i wonder what lxvvie would write about this" LOL (can u tell i love u and ur writing!! <3)
for instance: imagine the cod characters trying desperately for you to finally claim one of their shirts as ur own sleep shirt. but like, you've worn the same thrifted oversized shirt every night since college, and tbh you really don't want to change up your routine now, and yeah, a strangers random shirt is actually more comfortable than yours, thank you very much
cue chaos. also idk who this would fit but i feel like one of them would be like don't wanna wear my shirt to sleep? fine and then proceed to replace every article of clothing in your closet, except for that sleep shirt, with one of their own. what!!! technically they listened to you!!!
I can see it going a lil' something like this (it might deviate some from your ask so forgive me! 😭):
Price would be a bit subtler than the rest. A comment or suggestion is given here or there because if it's comfort you're looking for, his shirts are where it's at.
Gaz is the one who outright tells you that he wants you in his shirt. Like... right now.
Soap leaves his shirts lying around with the express purpose of you putting them on. If you were to ask him to grab a shirt for you from the laundry room, best believe he will come back with his shirt for you to wear.
Ghost tells you that he can't sleep at night because your shirt feels "rough against his skin" 🙄. You call bullshit because his shirts have the same exact texture, and he calls bullshit to your bullshit because they absolutely do not. You can't help but wonder if there's some credibility to his words, though, because when you sleep in his shirt one night, he's out like a light.
Keller is the one who's like, "Got something for ya, Boss," and he tosses you his shirt and you're confused. "Alex, this is yours," and he shrugs and is all, "Not for long, I hope."
Alejandro wouldn't necessarily feel some kind of way about you wearing the shirt but if, for instance, it was from an ex? He'll envision burning it. In the meantime in-between time, wear his shirt.
Rudy tells you that he loves it when you wear his shirts because it feels good knowing a piece of him is still with you when he's away and that's all the more reason for you to wear them.
Horangi just wants his scent on you because he's claiming what's his.
König thinks it's absolutely adorable the way his shirts fit like freaking blankets on you. Then there was that one time you put on a shirt that he uses when he's away on assignment...
Graves doesn't really care... unless he's away. When he's home, he'd rather you sleep naked. For reasons. Reasons that involve horizontal dancing.
Keegan would just silently hand you his shirt, unwavering stare and all.
Roach's approach is similar to Rudy but he'd oh-so-politely ask, "Please...?"

chris_bloodfilms Met my hero on a train. This story is long so scroll if you cba reading. It’s 2005, a band explodes on MySpace. They’re dressed like you and their lyrics are a mirror to your life. Bleeding heck, who the fuck are the Arctic Monkeys? After 19 years on repeat it’s now 2024. Myself and @/conor_bloodfilms are travelling back from Paris. We arrive at Gare Du Nord and Duffy stops in his tracks. He whispers to me “I think that’s Alex Turner.” “F**k off!” I immediately reply. I gaze over at a guy wearing a leather jacket with long brown hair, his face adorned with aviators. We should probably stop staring as it’s getting weird, sexually and aggressively weird. Turns out it is bloody Alex Turner, the man who’s provided the soundtrack to my life! He strolls past and disappears into the Parisian platform crowd. A missed opportunity. We board our train back to London. We look to our left and there’s Alex. Sitting in his seat accompanied by a notepad. He’s probably writing the next Arctic Monkeys hit “Two gawping pricks on a train”. We really need to stop staring. I tell Duffers I’m going in, he stops me. Reminds me that I’m a fully functioning adult and not to create a scene. Christ, he’s right! I feel like I’m 15 years old again, someone get me a Strongbow and whack Dancing Shoes on, kin hell lad! Eventually myself and Con engage, it’s a surreal experience. Alex is polite and returns conversation in a soft friendly manner. The whole situation is just bloody lovely. I awkwardly ask if I can take his portrait, fully aware that it could result in an awkward exchange and destroy this wonderful moment. He smiles and obliges, he’s effortlessly cool, asks for direction and I take a few snaps. We disembark the train, I felt quite emotional and that’s embarrassing to admit. Maybe it was the jet lag, the caffeine and croissant overload? Or maybe it was just the rekindling of my youth. This all might sound trivial, however, for me these portraits are deeply personal serving a reminder that life is a series of fortunate events and when fully appreciated can conjure up some pretty awesome memories.

Can I request some Bachelor/Bachelorett's of your choice asking the farmer to be their partner at the flower dance? It'd be cute if they could ask us instead of the farmer always taking the initiative
Bachelors/ettes of my choice? Hmm, since it's my choice here, I've chosen.... All SDV marriage candidate :D
Thanks for the ask, dear anon! Enjoy! 🫰💕
_________________________________________
SDV bachelors/ettes asking Farmer to be their dance partner at the Flower Dance:
SDV bachelors:
Alex:
Alex tries to make Farmer's question sound casual.
Something like, "Hey, I'd like to ask you to be my dance partner, but if you say no, that's okay, it won't hurt me in any way."
(He can't fool himself, It will make him sad if Farmer says no).
So the athlete almost jumped up on the spot with joy when Farmer agreed. But he tried to play it cool.
"So, shall we go and take our place on the dance floor?"
Alex was so happy, and started to get a little nervous not to mess it up.
Elliott:
"Farmer, my friend! I've been preparing for this celebration for a couple of days now, and I would be immensely happy if you would honoring me of agreeing to be my dance partner."
Elliott hopes the invitation wasn't too pompous. Otherwise, the writer was already worried he'd ruined everything.
Maybe Farmer already had a partner and Elliott with his speech made them feel pressured and awkward?
But Farmer's smile and nod of agreement said otherwise.
"Really? Oh, delightful! Then let's go rehearse our moves before the festival starts." Words can't describe how happy Elliott is.
Sebastian:
Because Sebastian doesn't really like dancing in public, asking someone to dance is a big step for him.
No, for real. Farmer must be a very dear friend to him (or maybe something more), if the local emo stepped out of his comfort zone to ask them to dance.
And his efforts paid off - Farmer agreed without delay.
Now, even the spring sun and heat will not spoil Sebby's mood.
Sam and Abigail start teasing Sebastian a little bit (affectionate) that he'll now have a silly smile on his face all day long.
Sam:
Sam is simply the epitome of a golden retriever who can get anything he wants with his charm alone. (Sam doesn't realise it himself, but still).
And even though he's a little nervous, it doesn't hurt his charm at all.
"Hey, Farmer. I've been thinking... Would you be interested in becoming my dance partner? If you don't mind."
Look at his puppy dog eyes, warm smile and slightly pink cheeks. How could you say no to him?
Here, Farmer didn't refuse either.
"Super! Thanks a lot! Let's take our positions then, we're about to dance!"
Harvey:
It took Harvey about fifteen or twenty minutes to gather the will to dare to ask Farmer to dance.
It seemed like an easy task for a doctor, but his throat was immediately dry and his heart was pounding frantically in his chest.
"Farmer, I was wondering if you'd like-" "To dance with you? Sure thing, Harvey!"
Well, that was easier than he thought. And why was Harvey getting worried over nothing?
Now, the only thing left for him to do was to wait for the dance to start and hope Harvey didn't step on Farmer's foot out of excitement.
Shane:
To be honest, Shane didn't dare ask Farmer for fear of rejection.
But eventually Jas intervened, telling Farmer that "uncle Shane wants to talk to you" ("Jas!").
Well, since the conversation is already inevitable, Shane has to ask them.
"Do you want to be my dance partner?" "Of course, Shane, I'd love to!"
The heck, what... Why was it so easy?
Now they're both dancing, he can't believe it! Shane is pleased.
(In the background, Jas smiles at her uncle and Farmer as they both walk to the dance floor).
SDV bachelorettes:
Leah:
Probably, of all the candidates present, Leah is the calmest. Why make something up when you can just ask them straight out?
"Hey, Farmer. If you don't have a dance partner, we can dance together."
The artist was quite okay to take no for an answer.
Still, glad that Farmer agreed to her request.
"Cool. I'll get us a good spot so we don't bake directly in the sun while dancing."
Honesty and calmness are key to her success.
Penny:
Yoba, give her strength and courage...
Penny was embarrassed to even look in Farmer's direction, let alone start a conversation with them.
Someone she knows should help nudge her to ask Farmer (Emily or Maru).
The young teacher was so nervous, she didn't even notice that Farmer smilingly agreed to her offer to be a dance partner.
Wait, what? She heard everything right? They said yes?
Oh well... then Penny went to get prepared (get prepared mentally not to faint from happiness).
Abigail:
"Ugh, stupid Flower dance... Mum made me wear this dumb dress again..." *notices Farmer* "Hey, Farmer~ Do you have a dance partner already?"
Abigail isn't really shy, to be honest.
Won't ask Farmer directly about dancing, but her hints are impossible not to recognise.
She was terribly relieved that Farmer agreed and immediately grabbed their hand, dragging them towards the dance floor.
Abby hopes her mother wouldn't think that she liked dancing now, or Caroline would want to take her to aerobics later.
Maru:
Maru was still practising her speech to Farmer from a day ago. She was really hoping that they would agree to dance with her at the festival.
That doesn't change the fact that even though she was prepared, Maru was a little nervous for fear of rejection.
Still, until you ask them, you won't know, right?
When Farmer approached her on their own, Maru finally asked them.
The young inventor's fears were in vain: the Farmer said yes immediately!
Oh, she couldn't wait to take her place to dance with Farmer!
Emily:
Emily is just overjoyed! A beautiful day, a beautiful atmosphere, a beautiful forest... The spirits are favouring them today.
Oh, there's the Farmer! She immediately ran up to them to ask them to dance.
The blue-haired girl was too excited to even think about the fact that Farmer might refuse her....
But that wouldn't happen, because Farmer agreed without hesitation!
Emily, even more overjoyed, immediately took them to the dance floor, letting them rehearse the dance together before festival starts.
Haley:
"Farmer. I'm you want, I might dance with you~"
Haley doesn't know if her charm will work, since last year she refused to dance with them. Yeah, awkward...
So she won't be surprised if they turn her down. But will be surprised when Farmer immediately agrees.
"Great! Then we need to rehearse to make everything perfect. I've already been Flowers Queen for a few years, I don't want to give up the title."
Haley doesn't care about the title anymore, she's dancing with Farmer! Hee hee~

and patience, and pining
in which alex is determined to flirt so hard that henry can no longer resist him. a modern au. based on the prompt: surprise kiss/impulsive kiss. ~1.8k.
Between the two of them, Alex has always thought he’d be the one to cave first.
They’ve both arrived at the same time. Henry looks stupid-good in his well-fitted tuxedo. His hair is just over-styled enough that Alex wants to mess it up, and badly.
How one man can be so like this is frankly upsetting. No, scratch that; it’s illegal, is what it is. Criminal law is not Alex’s domain, but he’s pretty sure being this tempting in public is a certifiable offense.
“Alex,” says Henry, and he blinks, at least some sense returning to him.
“Right,” he says. “Shall we?”
Henry gives him a look like he’d rather be anywhere else on the planet, which, the reception is not even open bar, so Alex can’t say he disagrees.
“After you, Your Majesty,” he says, stepping from the door with a flourish, then, “I saw that.”
“Saw what?” asks Henry, already shouldering past him with his chin turned up.
“If I had a dollar for every time you rolled your eyes at me—”
“Good taste still can’t be bought, Alex.”
“That’s ironic,” Alex shoots back, smiling and nodding at one of the guests as they enter. “Considering my tie is way better than yours.”
Henry lifts his hand at another in greeting, and even his wave looks fucking majestic, the asshole. “I trust you’ll be at least somewhat behaved this evening?”
“You sure that’s what you want, sweetheart?”
Henry’s expression turns very dour, and Alex wonders, not for the first time, why that particular look on him makes Alex so crazy. The more severe Henry gets, the wilder Alex’s impulse to kiss him, and the urge to just give in.
Alex licks his lips.
Henry takes a cautionary step back. “Let’s do try to make it through the rest of the night without much carnage, yes?”
“I don’t know,” Alex muses. “When you threaten me with a good time like that…”
Henry mutters something under his breath and Alex can’t help but grin. Maybe the night holds some promise after all.
.
He decides he’s going to have to walk that back after a while.
The music is decent, and he was wrong about the open bar, thank God, but he’s barely seen Henry since some crusty-looking Wall Street types whisked him and Pez away to talk business, and Alex is bored.
He wants to dance. He wants to dance—with Henry. And because that’s not going to happen, Alex wants to do the next best thing, which is to dance while Henry pretends not to watch, but he’s not even facing the dance floor right now so there would be no fucking point. He’ll have to think of something else. Hmmm.
Nora shimmies up to him then with two new flutes of champagne. Bless. “Still pining?” she asks.
Alex whips around to glare at her, wounded. “What? Nora, no,” he says. Is it that obvious? Fuck.
Nora shrugs. “You do the thing where you look him when you think he won’t notice. Both of you. You guys kind of have it down to a science.”
Alex brightens immediately. “You’ve seen him looking at me?”
Nora sips her champagne. “Right now, for example.”
Henry looks quickly away when Alex glances over, which is as good an invitation as any in his book. One of the suits is talking at Henry, who seems about as engaged as a teapot right now. Pez has dialed up the charisma, distracting them easily from Henry’s silence. But to Alex, Henry looks downright miserable in comparison.
Well, Alex is here to do something about that.
He plucks the second flute from Nora’s hand. “You’re the best. Gotta go.”
She raises an eyebrow. “I thought you weren’t pining?”
“For that guy?” Alex gazes at Henry again, then says, quite honestly, “Always.”
.
It takes exactly two minutes for the Wall Street guys to politely excuse themselves. Alex watches them practically dissolve their way into the crowd, like a creepy bunch of Mr. Smiths from The Matrix, and he suppresses a shudder.
The look on Henry’s face is an appealing combination of annoyed and relieved. “Let me guess,” Alex deadpans, “you’re so grateful you could just kiss me right now.”
Henry’s expression turns distinctly disapproving as Pez chimes in, “Be patient and Hazza might even learn to admit it someday.”
“That’s what I’m hoping.” Alex grins sideways at Henry, who’s flushing the loveliest pink despite also frowning. “You’re welcome for rescuing you from the most tedious conversation known to man, by the way.”
“Actually, darling dearest,” Pez says lightly, “we were speaking with potential investors in the foundation.”
Oh. Shit. “Do you want me to charm them back over?” Alex wants to know, jerking a thumb in the direction they’d gone. “It is well within my power.”
“Not necessary.” Henry pulls a face. “I would’ve felt dirty about taking their money.”
“I would’ve felt wonderfully about it,” says Pez. “But now that you’ve freed up my dance card…” He cranes his neck around.
“Nora’s over there,” Alex says helpfully.
“Brilliant.” Pez’s eyes are the definition of sparkling. “Ah, and I see your sister’s about to join her. If you boys will excuse me—”
He helps himself to the rest of Alex’s champagne before sashaying off.
The two of them remain standing there a careful few feet apart, not looking at each other. Not that it matters; Alex is so hyperaware of him that he could reach over without even looking and take Henry’s hand if he wanted to. He won’t, but he wants to.
Knowing that he can is enough for now.
Henry looks askance at him after a moment. “You’re making this very hard, you know.”
Alex somehow manages not to smile at that. “Am I?”
Henry’s face screws up in faux concentration. “Let’s see. You’ve been a merciless flirt, even more so than usual. You wore the tie I bought you, which means you don’t hate it—”
“What? I love it,” interrupts Alex, just to be clear.
“—and you just drove off a very lucrative, albeit morally questionable, investment opportunity.” Henry’s also holding back a smile. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to not kiss you for that alone.”
“You still could,” Alex points out.
“And lose your silly bet?” Henry straightens, adjusting his cufflinks, and that might be the single hottest thing Alex has ever seen. “I think not. We both know you’ll be the first to give in.”
It’s true, Alex thinks; he’s pretty irresistible, but Henry is also far more controlled. Still, there’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that Alex gets to be the one who stretches him to his very limit. The level of restraint it takes Henry to resist him is a pretty big turn-on, if he’s being honest. Even when Henry wins, it will be no great loss on Alex’s part.
“Considering what’s at stake here,” Alex says lowly, leaning in just enough to catch the way Henry’s eyes darken, “I think I win either way.”
Henry does smile then, soft and warm and way too tempting not to kiss, though Alex perseveres. “I think we both do, darling.”
“That we can agree on,” says Alex. “So, do you want to…not…dance with me?”
“I thought you’d never ask.”
.
He slips up, once.
It’s in a goddamn photo booth of all things, and Alex would feel like such a cliché if he weren’t so busy feeling annoyed at the fact that he can’t hold Henry’s hand or kiss him in front of the camera. Instead, he lets Nora and June wedge in between them, grinning gamely when they take turns kissing Henry on the cheek.
At the literal last second before the flash is going off, Alex feels Henry take his hand from behind, lace their fingers ever so gently together, and squeeze.
In the photo that prints out, June and Nora are doubled over in laughter, eyes closed, unaware. Henry has his chin tipped up, his face doing some smoldery thing at the camera, and Alex is turned, simply gazing at him.
He takes it before anyone sees, tucking it safely into his wallet because bet or no bet, some things really are too sacred to share.
When he shows it to Henry later, Henry gets the same lovestruck look on his face as Alex does in the photo, and that’s all he needs.
.
It’s the cake that finally does it.
Pez, Nora and June are all crowded around the same piece, and it makes Alex sigh a little wistfully to think about how much better it would taste if he were sharing his with Henry.
He can’t help it. He peers at Henry’s own slice, squinting. “What flavor is that one?”
“Strawberry,” says Henry. There’s a crumb on his lip, and Alex doesn’t mean to fixate on it, but he’s now gone hours without kissing his boyfriend and he’s kind of mad about it even though it’s also kind of his fault. “Do you want a bite?”
Oh. Yeah, that’ll work. Alex can feel the others’ eyes on them as he leans closer, fully expecting that Henry will yield to his instincts and feed him a piece off his fork. It’s not a kiss, but it could definitely qualify as losing the bet. And then once Alex has won, he can not only kiss Henry as much as he likes, he gets to take Henry home with him and—well.
He frowns when Henry only holds the plate out. “Here, have some,” says Henry, gaze lifting to his, then just a bit lower. “Oh. Hang on, you’ve got a—”
In a move that’s beyond Alex’s wildest dreams, Henry cups his jaw and kisses the side of his mouth, with just the slightest bit of tongue.
Alex grins as Henry freezes against him, realizing his mistake too late. “Thanks, baby.”
“Bollocks,” says Henry. He pulls back and sighs, licking the rest of the buttercream from his lips. “I’ve lost, haven’t I.” Then, accusingly, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you.”
“I’d say I don’t kiss and tell, but.” Alex puts his hands on Henry’s thighs, using that grip to scoot their chairs closer together. “I am gonna kiss you now, so.”
“You’ll be getting to do a lot more than that,” Henry points out.
“Ew, did not need to hear that part,” June groans at the same time that Pez puts down their cake and says, “Please, I need to hear more.”
“There’s a legally binding document and everything,” says Alex, to Henry’s chagrin and Pez’s delight. “Drafted it up myself.”
“You two were pining that hard and you were already together?” Nora wants to know. “Actually, that tracks. Carry on.”
Henry has gone as pink as the cake now, but he’s smiling when Alex swipes up some more buttercream, touching it to Henry’s mouth before leaning the rest of the way in.

Hello! I was wondering is y/n was a Verstappen!sister what would be her dynamic with the other drivers??????
hiii! okay so i would visualize y/n verstappen as a stunning, crazily intelligent, super stubborn and talented woman. just like her brother she would be an absolute terror (in a way that she is so insanely talented in her profession). also if i were to write a story about her, i would make her one of the engineers in redbull. she would be fiercely protective of max even though she's younger than him. { she is terrified of jos and max often covered her ears when they were younger to silence his shouts and screams } as for her dynamics with others on track -
max verstappen - being her older brother, he is super super super protective of her, often chasing away slimy men in bars. kelly and y/n are the closest of friends. y/n and p's relationship is the cutest ever, since p absolutely adores her
charles leclerc - close friend and almost like a second brother. charles often looks after y/n and alex's drinks in the bar when they are dancing. y/n loves alexandra and is best friends with her.
carlos sainz - y/n and carlos used to date when max was in toro rosso. max was furious when he found out. carlos was y/n's first. they still have a great deal of respect and affection towards each other but have moved on in a romantic sense. they are now close friends and often pull pranks on charles and max.
lando norris - boyyyfriendddd <3 they started to date in 2022 and fell deeply in love. they dated in secret for 6 months but max found out after seeing lando and y/n with matching hickeys (ooopsss) and swapped hoodies. he was so angry, but not because they were dating but rather because y/n didn't feel comfortable to tell him. he got over it fast enough after a crying session with y/n. lando adores the ground y/n walks on. he is openly whipped for her and has no shame about it. he posts her all the time over instagram and publicly sings praises for her, he often tries to ask her how she makes the redbull car so fast but y/n just laughs in his face. and btw they are so endgame <3
sergio perez (checo) - he is like a father figure to y/n. he gives good advice and helps her calm down when she gets angry at lando or max. he protects her from jos's tantrums.
oscar pisatri - they are good friends since they know eachother from F2. to be fair y/n likes lily more than oscar <3
daniel riccardio - he is y/n's best friend in the whole world ( much to max's dismay and jealousy ). he absolutely adores her to the ends of the earth. he is the same smiley guy who pulled y/n out of her eating disorder and spiral of shame after a bad race where the car underperformed. y/n assures him that his future in f1 is safe <3
part 2 soon!
BONUS { esteban ocon - no words required, she hates him. }

the lights of the club were blinding and the music was way too loud to hear what the people around you were saying. max held your hand as he moved around the dancing bodies, trying to get to the vip section on the club. you had spotted your sister jolie, who was talking with the youngest of the leclerc brothers. next to her, you could see pierre, alex and yuki who were laughing about something the latter had said.
"look who has arrived!". daniel screamed as you entered the vip section, catching everyone's attention. "how did the date go?".
"hey mate, it was good. how was dinner?". max asked referring to the meal some drivers had enjoyed to celebrate the end of the season.
"it was great". daniel replied. "we missed you, mate".
"you know, i had other priorities". max replied, giving you a quick glance. "but we're here to celebrate".
as you looked around, you saw pierre, who kept making gestures telling you to sit with him and charles. you squeezed max's hand to his attention and he looked at you.
"i'm gonna go and talk to pierre, okay?". you said and he nodded.
"yeah". he replied, as he leaned to give you a quick peck. "let me know if you need anything or if you want to head back to the hotel".
charles was staring at the scene happening before his eyes. the brown dress you were wearing was driving him insane and he could not help but wonder how max could keep his hands to himself. if he had been in his position, he knows damn well you would not have made it to the club.
"hi pierre". you said and he looked up to meet your eyes. "hi charles".
"you look gorgeous, y/n". pierre said, as you sat down next to the monegasque. "how's max treating you?".
"can't complain, he's a kind man". you replied. "how was your dinner? did you guys have fun?".
"yeah". pierre answered. "but the wine was terrible".
"y/n, what do you want to drink?". charles interrupted your conversation with pierre. "i'm about to go to ask the bartender for one more gin-tonic and i'll bring you whatever you want".
"i'll come". you said and charles smiled at you. "i'm not sure of what i want, i need to see what they offer here".
charles led the way to the bar, passing by your boyfriend, who could not stop himself from staring at you. max had never been the jealous type, but something about charles made him have his guard up. he watched as the monegasque placed his hand on your back to lead you, how he leaned in to talk to you, how you smiled widely back at him whenever he made a joke and it made his blood boil. he could only observe as you took a sip of charles' drink, when he stroke your leg when you accidentally hit the counter and you complained about it and when he asked you to dance and you agreed.
the chemistry of two ex-lovers was still there and max envied that. he could not say anything, he did not want you to know he felt this way. it was the first time, since you started dating, that he realized he was scared to lose you. and for nearly two long hours, max had to swallow the bitterness of the feelings caused by seeing his girlfriend have fun with her ex.
"who's that?". lance asked as a brunette girl entered the vip section.
max recognized her instantly and he thought the night could not get any worse. léa blanc, who used to be your best friend years before and who also was charles' ex-partner, was walking straight to you.
your heartbeat skipped a beat when you noticed léa was here. you felt the anxiety creeping in and a million questions clouded your mind. what the hell was she doing here? somehow you felt like you have been caught red-handed and you were sure léa would misinterpret everything.
charles, who saw your smile drop, turned around to see what had made your expression change like that in just one second. léa looked gorgeous, she was wearing a little black dress and some leather black boots that made everyone around her stop and stare at her. but in that moment that did not matter to charles. he could feel a lump in his throat as his ex confidently approached the two of you with a mischievous smile on her face.
"can i borrow charles for a minute?". léa asked you as she placed a hand on his shoulder.
"what are you doing here?". you defensively asked.
"it's none of your business".
"y/n". max, who was now on your side, said as he grabbed your hand. "let's go".

the silence between the max and you was louder than ever. max sat down on the sofa in front of you, trying to organize his thoughts, but the blood was boiling in his veins and he could not calm down. you paced around the room, unaware of max's feelings. the anxiety and the questions clouded your mind.
"i don't get it". you said frustrated. "why would léa be here?".
"why does it bother you?". max coldly asked.
"because the last time i saw her she acted like a bitch towards me?". you replied. "i'm pretty sure you were around when that happened".
"are you sure it's because of that?"
"what do you mean?". you asked as you stared at him. "of course it's because of that".
"sure". he replied bitterly and you frowned.
"what is wrong, max?"
"i think you're jealous of her". he spat out.
"you can't be serious".
"you spent nearly two hours with charles before she came. two. hours". he emphasized.
"and that doesn't mean anything!". you said as you dropped your arms in the air. "he's my friend, max".
"bullshit".
"so what does it mean then?". you said. "fuck, max. we have had this conversation before, i have asked you if you were bothered by it and you said you weren't. you know i have chosen you over him, so i don't get why are getting so defensive now. fuck, max, i love you-".
"doesn't feel like it".
those four words made your heart drop and shatter into pieces. you stood up as the tears threatened to fall from your eyes as you stared at him. max knew he had messed it up the moment those words had left his lips. he quickly grabbed your arm, making you turn around and look at him. his heart broke when he saw the disappointed look on his face.
"fuck, i am sorry". he apologized as he placed hand on your cheek. quickly, you brushed it off. "i didn't mean it like that".
"max, leave me alone".
"we need to talk about this".
"we do, but not now". you said. "please let me go, i don't want to do this right now".
"fuck, y/n, i am sorry, i swear i didn't mean it like that".
"it doesn't feel like it".

Flower Dance
Haley (Stardew) x She/Her Reader
A/N: I liked the idea, but I don’t think I executed it as well as I hoped I would because I got impatient. Still not too bad though I think. I wrote this in November of 2022. Sharing it now because why not. Word Count: 2,383
“Ew, no.”
Haley had regretted the words as soon as she had spit them out like an defensive cobra.
Hurt was written all over the farmer’s face as she recoiled from Haley like she had been burned.
Haley saw the year’s worth of progress she had made getting out of her shell and becoming friends with (Y/n) crumble before her very eyes. She tried to say something, anything, to peddle back from the harsh way she had answered, but (Y/n) recovered first. At least somewhat.
“…Alright then, sorry. A simple no would have sufficed.” She mumbled. “Excuse me.”
Haley reached for her but froze halfway before withdrawing. Her hands fell to her sides in tight fists.
Why did she say that? It was only (Y/n), the sweet farmer who had taken the time to scale Haley’s walls to find her soft and more vulnerable self within.
Daffodils in the spring, ice cream in the summer, sunflowers in fall, pink cake in winter… (Y/n) had been nothing but nice to her even from the beginning when Haley insulted her clothes and earthy scent. Back then the farmer had been able to brush her off, but Haley’s words definitely had a direct impact this time.
She didn’t mean to speak to her like that. She had just been startled that (Y/n) would even think to ask. The thought of dancing with her made Haley’s face burn and her heart thump in her ears. She wasn’t sure if it was excitement or fear that was causing those reactions, but clearly fear had won out when she opened her stupid mouth.
What should she do now?
“Haley,”
Haley turned to find that Alex was walking up to her. She tried to school her expression into something more neutral before he got too close to notice.
“The dance is starting soon. Are we partnering up again this year?”
Haley scanned the field for (Y/n) and bit the inside of her lip when she couldn’t see her. She was the Flower Queen, she was expected to be a part of the ceremonial first dance. As much as she wanted to go look for (Y/n) and apologize, that would have to wait. It would be better to talk to her when her heart stopped pounding anyway.
“Yeah,” Haley nodded, linking Alex’s elbow with hers, “let’s get in position.”
When they did find their places, Haley watched the usual pairs link up. Finally she saw (Y/n) conversing with Robin and Demetrius on the sidelines. Haley remembered last year, wondering why the new farmer hadn’t bothered to come to the dance. At first, she thought she had some kind of sense of superiority over the townsfolk, but it was a traditional town event after all, not a club in Zuzu City. It would probably have been uncomfortable after only being a part of the community for a couple weeks.
Now a year later, (Y/n) had felt comfortable enough to join in on the festivities and Haley had surely made her regret stepping away from her busy farm life with the utterance of those two stupid words.
Good job, idiot.
She continued to watch over Alex’s shoulder as Leah unexpectedly walked up. Leah? Leah usually danced with Elliot. What was she doing sidling up to (Y/n) like that? Haley looked around for the writer, but he was nowhere to be seen. Was he sick or something?
Haley looked back in time to see (Y/n) smile kindly at something Leah had said and felt something burning within her as Leah offered (Y/n) her hand and the farmer took it.
“What’s going on behind me that has you squeezing my shoulders like that?” Alex asked, craning his head back, “It kinda hurts.”
“Nothing.” Haley snapped.
She turned her head away from (Y/n) and Leah, trying to ignore them bonding over being the newest residents of the valley and how Leah’s first Flower Dance went. How Leah taught (Y/n) the steps, something that could have been Haley’s honor not even ten minutes ago.
“Doesn’t seem like nothing,” Alex winced, “Come on Haley, I can feel your nails through my shirt.”
“Sorry.” Haley eased up a bit, but her steely gaze still lingered on the two women butchering the steps while snickering to each other.
Haley was furious. They were making a mockery of the long standing tradition! That was definitely what was pissing her off. Not the fact that she could have just as easily been in Leah’s shoes, helping (Y/n) find her footing and laughing with her instead—
“Too tight again Haley, damn!” Alex hissed, finally twirling Haley around so he could take a look at what was pissing her off so bad that she felt the need to leave him bruised.
“What am I supposed to be seeing here?”
“Just drop it.” Haley nearly growled.
“Ohhhh,” Alex winced upon spotting Leah and (Y/n) spinning together, “I get it. Well, they could just be dancing as friends like us you know. You’re not out of this yet.”
“What are you talking about?” She grumbled.
“(Y/n) and Leah. I figured farm girl would steal my spot this year. I was kinda hoping for it too,” Alex pulled at his collar, “this outfit is always so itchy.”
“Why would I dance with her? That makes no sense.” Haley shot defensively, not loud enough for anyone else to hear, but loud enough to make Emily peer over Shane’s shoulder to try and see what her sister was so grumpy about.
“Uhh, don’t you like her?” Alex asked with uncertainty, “I could have sworn—“
“I do not!” Haley fumed, heart pounding and face flushing once again, “Why would you think that?”
“The last time we were in your dark room. I mean, dude, like, a loooot of your pictures lately have been of (Y/n)…”
“I needed to have a gallery that showcased humans and nature for an online class!” Haley defended, though her cheeks blushed darker, “I sure as hell wasn’t going to ask that weirdo in the mountains if I could follow him around for a couple days. (Y/n) was the obvious choice.”
“I don’t get why you’re so defensive about it. It’s cool if you like her or whatever. You know I don’t care. Emily definitely wouldn’t. I think no one would mind as much as you seem to, or you’re at least in the minority on the subject.”
“I. Do. Not. Like. Her. Like. That.” Haley gritted out.
Alex sighed heavily. Why did Haley always have to be so stubborn? He had an idea, but it was going to be just a little mean…
“Oh whoa, they’re totally making out.”
“What?!”
Haley’s heart dropped as she yanked Alex around so she could look at (Y/n) and Leah again. They weren’t kissing, nor did it look like they had been. They were still clumsily dancing together as they talked.
Haley turned her eyes back on Alex, who dared to wear a smug little smirk on her face that Haley desperately wanted to slap off.
“You do like her, Hales. You haven’t liked anyone in forever! And as your best friend, it’s my job to help you shoot your shot. Come on, let’s dance over and see if we can’t get you to cut in.”
“No, Alex,” Haley pulled him back, a touch of fear in her voice “I, I can’t. Not after what I said. She must think I’m such a bitch.”
“What are you talking about?”
“She already asked me to dance, Alex,” Haley groaned angrily at herself, “and do you know what I said? I said, ‘ew, no’.”
“No.” Alex sucked in air through clenched teeth.
“Yeah, try coming back from that. She’ll never talk to me again.”
“You could tell her you’re sorry. Say you got so nervous you insulted her. That might help.”
“Oh sure.” Haley scoffed.
“It would be better than doing nothing!” Alex whined. “Haley, before (Y/n), I was basically the only person you ever talked to. You really stepped up this year and I’d hate to see you close yourself off again.”
(Y/n) and Leah seemed to have grown tired of dancing and went to join the sidelines once more and Haley looked to the grass at her feet. She wanted to say to hell with it. People come and go all the time, just look at her parents and their never ending trips. However, she couldn’t bring herself to slip away from (Y/n). She didn’t want (Y/n) to slip away from her either.
“What do I do, Alex? She’s not going to want to talk to me after this.”
“We’ll think of something,” Alex promised, giving Haley one last twirl, “We’ll think of something.”
***
“H-hello?” (Y/n) called out as she entered the Secret Woods.
She had received a letter in the mail that morning, urging her to arrive at her earliest convenience. She had half a mind to suspect it was the bear again, although the only thing she had been instructed to bring was herself, not syrup.
As she wandered further into the clearing, she faintly heard music playing and decided to follow it. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Haley flattening a table cloth over a large tree stump. The sting of yesterday was still very fresh in her mind. Surely Haley didn’t send her that letter… she took a step back, but her foot snapped a twig, causing Haley’s head to snap up.
Haley quickly finished what she was doing, hands moving clumsily from nervousness. She dried her sweaty palms on the back of her skirt and then took a deep breath as she approached (Y/n).
“Hey,” Haley said, her smile looking a bit too pained to be sincere. Much like the polite smile (Y/n) was trying to hold.
“Ah, sorry Haley. I didn’t know—“
“I want you here,” Haley spoke quickly, “I wrote the letter.”
“You did? Why?” (Y/n) asked, her body language defensive. After yesterday, she wasn’t too keen on listening to whatever Haley had to say. She didn’t think she knew Haley as well as she thought she did.
“Because I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I- I was totally out of line. I’m really, really sorry.”
“But why did you say that at all? Haley, that really hurt me.” (Y/n) crossed her arms over her chest.
“I know, I regretted it as soon as I said it. I was just scared I guess. I didn’t expect you to ask me to dance and I know that’s a dumb excuse, but I swear I didn’t mean it.”
“What were you scared for?” (Y/n) asked softly, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Because I,” Haley took in a shaky breath, “I like you a lot.”
“You were scared to accept my invitation to dance because you like me?” (Y/n) tested the words on her tongue, finding them just as confusing as when Haley had said them.
“Yeah, well, when you repeat it back like that it sounds dumb,” Haley blushed, “but, ugh! You know me. I’m not easy to get along with. I also don’t like being vulnerable so this whole thing is killing me now, but, I also like you too much to not try to apologize so,” Haley tentatively held her hand out to the bewildered farmer, “will you please let me have this dance in an attempt to redeem myself?”
(Y/n) studied the offered hand for a moment, making Haley so nervous she stopped breathing, but then (Y/n) gave her a small smile and took Haley’s hand.
“Okay.”
Haley inhaled deeply, feeling a weight come off her shoulders. She hurriedly put her free hand around (Y/n)’s waist and took the lead. Her skin tingled when (Y/n)’s hand came to rest on her shoulder.
“Thank you.” Haley breathed a sigh of relief.
“You know, you really surprised me yesterday,” (Y/n) began, making Haley wince, “I know you can be a little grouchy, even mean sometimes,” Haley wished the ground would swallow her whole,
“but the more we got to know each other, the more I got to see who you are trying to protect, the person who are underneath the prickliness. Granted, the prickliness is just as much a part of you, but I think it’s cute when you’re a little snarky,” Haley bit the inside of her cheek. She felt like she should be insulted, but (Y/n) finding something about her cute was making her blush,
“I was hurt when you turned me down like that yesterday, but I was also worried that would be the end of our friendship.”
“Why would you worry about that? If the shoe had been on the other foot, I would have said good riddance.” Haley asked, mentally kicking herself for possibly giving (Y/n) the idea to back away now.
“Yeah, I kinda did feel that way at first,” (Y/n) admitted, “but when Leah helped me cool down, I at least wanted to know why you reacted the way you did. I’m glad you reached out to me before I did, because I honestly had no idea how to approach the subject.” (Y/n) said with a sheepish grin.
“What, are you afraid of me or something, Miss spends-all-winter-in-the-mines?” Haley Scoffed.
“Oh definitely.”
“Really?”
“You are scarier than you give yourself credit for.”
Haley tried not to laugh, but she couldn’t help it. She lowered her head to rest against (Y/n)’s shoulder and giggled, making (Y/n) laugh as well.
They swayed through a couple more songs before Haley pulled back and asked (Y/n) if she was hungry before motioning back to the the covered tree stump. They ate and talked together while listening to the portable radio Haley had brought along. When there was a lull, Haley asked,
“Hey, it’s not exactly the Flower Dance, but there’s always a dance floor at the summer Luau… be my dance partner?”
(Y/n) perked up, giving Haley another smile that gave her butterflies, “I’d like that.”
“Awesome.”
Maybe by summer she’d work up the courage to ask (Y/n) if she wanted to be her girlfriend, but this was perfect for now. Alex was going to need to help her with a plan, but when (Y/n) reached across the stump the tuck a bit of Haley’s hair behind her ear, she was feeling a little better about her chances.

Bonding time with new wife

alexalbon replied to your story
I didn't agree to this!
Jealous much? 😏
lilymhe replied to your story
Put your best dress on, we're going clubbing!
My legs are still killing me, woman..
That's the effect I have 😉
When Y/N agreed to hit the clubs with Lily she didn't picture the whole group to be there. Alex was the one to drive them there and when she got in the car she was met with an excited Lily, and quiet flirty Lando. They met before at the concert where George and Carmen were too. They all met up at the club and slowly Y/N let the music calm her nerves. She was a free woman and this was her comfort place.
They all quickly accepted her in their group like she belonged there, like they knew her for years. And suddenly she wondered why it never happened before. Why her ex never made any attempts at introducing her to this amazing people.
"Y/N! Come dance with us!" Carmen grabbed her hand pulling the girl behind herself and Lily. The boys stayed back looking over their drinks, while the girls had fun on the dancefloor.
"Girl, there's so many people looking at you." Lily giggled into her ear. They glanced around and Y/N could see few of her band's fans around the dancefloor. She smiled lightly trying to look welcoming enough to approach. She loved talking to their fans.
Her eyes scan the club again and her smile fades slowly. There, at the bar she can see him. His eyes on her already, the drink in his hand forgotten. She can see his body slowly turning her way and in a moment of panic she excuses herself to the bathroom.
She pushed through the crowd blindly. Hoping to loose him in the sea of body's and escape where he can't reach her. She was having fun, she was feeling good and here he was, ruining it again.
Some girls leave the bathroom when she comes in panting lightly. Y/N leans her body over the sink trying to calm her breath. Someone comes out the stall and stands next to her. She doesn't look up until the perfume hit her. Her body tenses and when she snaps her gaze to the girl beside, it's her.
"Hi." The girl smiles unsure of the situation. Of course she knows who Y/N is. And Y/N knows who's standing beside her. It seems she ran away from one nightmare to step right into hell.
"Fuck off." She grumbles but before she can escape again the girl speaks up again.
"What is wrong with you?" She shouts making Y/N turn around with a glare.
"How dare you?! You're asking me what's wrong with me, when you're the one that fucked up my relationship?!" She explodes with the anger and hatred she feels toward the girl that crushed her dreams.
"You weren't together!" The response makes Y/N stumble back in disbelief. They weren't? That's what she thought? Is that what he said?
"Wow.. I hope he breaks your heart the same way he did mine. Maybe then you'll learn how much of a jerk he truly is." Y/N shakes her head walking out. She bumps into him just outside the bathroom and she can tell the angry spark that light up his eyes. But before he can utter a word she's in the crowd, back to her friends, back to drinks and music.
She forgets herself in the beat. Her body flows with the music and soon she's laughing with the group. She dances with the girls and then she's paired with Lando while the pairs dance together. And she's feeling good. She's feeling hot with the way his eyes burn her skin, but this time she enjoys the warmth.

i.
you and alex had known each other your whole lives. as long as you could remember, it was you and him. sure, you both had friends that came and went, but at the end of it all, it was the two of you who made it through.
you made it through your elementary years, all the way to college, and now even beyond. despite graduating early, alex was still in contact with many of the friends you both made in university. it was a good thing too, because you could just go together to all the events you were invited to.
“i don’t know what i was thinking, making so many friends,” you muttered to yourself, nursing your drink.
it was late at night, and you were no longer the same person you’d been at college. instead of pulling all-nighters and partying with the crowd, you wanted to be in bed once it was dark.
“are you tired?” alex turned to face you. “we can go home if you want.”
“that’s okay,” you smiled tiredly at the tall boy. “it’s not like we get to meet up with them often. it’s been a long time since we were all out. we can stay.”
“you sure, love?” he asked, eyebrows knit in concern. “you look ready to drop.”
“i’m fine,” you promised. at his unconvinced look, you continued, “really, i’m okay. i think i just need another drink.”
“i’ll get you one,” he offered immediately, heading up to the counter to get your drink.
unbeknownst to you, some of your college friends were giggling to each other, wondering if the two of you were finally together.
“i mean, they have to be, right?” one of them whispered. “they’ve both got heart eyes for each other.”
“alex isn’t even trying to hide it,” another one laughed a little. “good for them, i guess. i always knew he liked her.”
you smiled once alex returned with your favourite drink, handing it to you.
“a special drink, for a special lady,” he grinned.
“thank you,” you took it from him, taking a sip.
indeed, all you needed was a little something in your system to get you going. you took alex’s hand, leading him to the dance floor where you ended up spending most of the night.
after some time, alex broke away from you, drifting to the edge of the dance floor and allowing himself a moment to admire you.
“so? you two finally together, huh?” one of alex’s old teammate’s wiggled his brows, sliding up next to the goalie.
“what? me and y/n? no — no, we’re just friends,” alex insisted.
“oh, really?” he asked, looking between the two of you. “i guess i haven’t seen you guys in so long, i forgot how close you were.”
alex nodded, despite the lump in his throat, before excusing himself to get some air.
your friends exchanged glances at that interaction — at alex running away, and at you now dancing with another friend, clueless to it all.
“well shit,” one of them muttered. “he’s in love with her, and he knows it.”
“but does she?”
ii.
“here, let me get that for you.”
“thank you,” you smiled as alex took the plates from your hands, placing them in the sink.
you were at a family friends house, inviting alex along to celebrate with them. since most of your family lived further away, you often celebrated the holidays and other events with them. alex was someone you’d known your entire life, and by extension, your family and family friends knew about him too.
after years of trying to convince you to bring him along to one of these gatherings, you finally caved in. it wasn’t that you were embarrassed of alex. if anything, you were a little embarrassed of your family friends.
not in a bad way. they were just loud and talkative and much more rowdy than alex’s family. you were worried how well he’d fit in if he came along.
so far, he had proved you wrong, getting along with absolutely everyone there. the younger kids kept trying to steal him to play games, the older aunts and uncles doted on him — everyone loved him.
you took the broom out, getting ready to sweep around the house a little. everyone was busy cleaning up after themselves or gossipping with each other. might as well make yourself useful.
“here, let me do that,” alex appeared next to you, reaching for the broom.
“it’s alright, i got it,” you assured him. “besides, you’re the guest. go sit and talk with the older people. i’ve got this.”
“y/n,” he said your name in a strict tone. “give me the broom, i’ll sweep up around here. you’ve been on your feet all day, take a seat and let me do this.”
you narrowed your eyes at him, realizing he wasn’t going to budge. “okay, go grab the dustpan. i’ll sweep, you collect it, okay?”
alex sighed, “all right, fine. but you’re sitting down and hanging out with everyone after this. no more work for you.”
“alex, that’s not how it works—”
“if someone needs you to do a chore, i’ll step in,” he said in a strict tone. he softened his voice, “you did a lot today, okay? i can do a little bit of work around here too. i’m not entirely useless, you know?”
you laughed a little, “i can think of multiple instances where you were entirely useless.”
“right now,” alex amended. “i know how to sweep and do the dishes and stuff. i couldn’t help you out in the morning, but i can now. so let me, please.”
“okay, okay,” you raised your hands in surrender. “i’ll sweep and then take a seat. happy?”
“very,” he grinned, happy that he’d finally won this argument.
behind you, one of your cousins shared a look with their sibling, wondering if anyone else just saw what happened.
“that’s so weird,” one of them whispered.
“i wonder how long it’ll take for them to get married,” another thought aloud.
“oh, he’s in love love,” another one muttered.
they looked at you, sweeping the floor with a little smile on your face, and behind you, alex watching you with the same smile on his face. it was so painfully obvious, just by the way he watched you.
“i hope she realizes it soon.”
iii.
“come on, come on, come on,” you grabbed alex’s hand, pulling him along.
there was a new cafe that opened down the street, and based on the reviews, it had some really nice hot chocolate. alex was the one who’d found their page on instagram, forwarding the message to you.
so of course, you dragged him along for your first visit.
the interior of the cafe was chic, with a checkerboard floor and a cozy interior. you immediately claimed one of the couches at the store, scanning the qr code for the menu.
before you even opened it up, alex spoke, “you’re getting a hot chocolate?”
“i didn’t even look at the menu yet,” you rolled your eyes.
“yeah, but it’s why you came here, right?” he asked. “to try their french hot chocolate?”
you opened your mouth to argue, but simply sighed. “yeah, that’s why i came here.”
“that’s what i thought,” a satisfied smirk appeared on alex’s face. “so, one french hot chocolate for you, and one cinnamon hot chocolate for me.”
you gave him a thumbs up in approval, letting him place the order at the counter while you saved your seats. you pulled out your phone, scrolling a little as you waited for alex to return.
near your seat, an older woman smiled to herself, waving to her own husband at the counter giving their order. she remembered their earlier days together, when her husband first learned her order and immediately went to the counter. it might be a really small thing to someone else, but she’d associated that act with his love for her. she wondered if one day you’d do the same thing with alex.
“i’m back,” alex announced his return as he took a seat next to you.
“yes, i can see that,” you replied.
he flicked your forehead, “congrats, you have eyes.”
“you’re such a child,” you laughed.
“you’re just jealous because you’ll be old and wrinkly while i stay young and hot.”
the two of you kept it together for three seconds, before bursting out into laughter.
your waitress smiled to herself, placing your drinks on the table in front of you. the cafe was new and it didn’t get many customers yet. seeing you two in here laughing loudly warmed her heart.
she wished she’d get to experience that kind of love one day, with someone who looked at her the way alex looked at you. as if he’d seen the entire world and decided you were his favourite thing in it.
“enjoy your drinks,” she smiled at you two, heading back.
“thank you,” you smiled at her, reaching for your hot chocolate.
you smiled at the sight of how delicious the hot chocolate looked, reaching towards it as if it were gold. to you, it might’ve been.
the second you took that first sip, you sighed in content, melting back into the couch and closing your eyes.
“so, it’s delicious?” alex asked, taking a sip of his own. he blinked in surprise, “okay, wow. this is pretty good. you know, y/n, i think you were onto something when you fell into that hot chocolate obsession.”
“i’m always right,” you grinned, turning your head to look at him.
alex caught his breath at the sight of you. after all these years, and you still managed to make him speechless with just a look.
“always,” he merely agreed.
you smiled triumphantly, going back to your drink. around you, the people whispered — they always whispered the same thing, but you never heard it.
“they’re so cute,” one person would whisper.
“oh, he’s so in love with her,” another would say.
“too bad she doesn’t even know it,” one would sigh.
“she knows it, she just doesn’t realize it,” another would respond. “she doesn’t even realize how in love she is with him.”
and alex would hear it all, and he’d keep his mouth shut. because whether you knew or whether you didn’t wasn’t the question.
the question was whether you’d do anything once you did realize.
iv.
you looked at your caller i.d., trying not to cry at the sight of alex’s face.
even though you saw him a day ago, the sight of him was so comforting to you. especially after the shit day that you were having at work.
“hello,” you answered, wanting nothing more than to hear his voice on the other end of the line.
“hey — wait, what’s wrong?” he asked. you could imagine the furrow in his brow, the exact face he was making as he continued. “are you crying? y/n, are you okay?”
“i’m fine,” you promised, taking a deep breath. “it’s just — it’s been a long day alex. i’m happy you called, i needed to hear your voice.”
“anytime,” alex responded immediately. “i’m always here for you, you know?”
“i know,” you smiled to yourself, because he was. “what’s up with you though? why’d you call?”
“i was just calling because i was bored,” he responded a little sheepishly. “i wanted to bother you a bit.”
“instead you’re comforting me,” you laughed a little.
“it’s an honour to do so,” he responded, followed by a small thwack sound. you laughed, imagining him pounding his chest to play the part, even though you couldn’t even see him.
the two of you continued talking for a bit, until you finally ended the call. you took a deep breath, looking at the time on your phone. two more hours, and then you were free.
--
you locked the door behind you, placing your bag and keys down.
you were finally home, and ready to put this long day behind you. except now that you were inside, you could hear some noise from somewhere in your house. music was playing softly and a familiar voice was singing along. the smell of something baking made its way to you — banana bread, you thought happily. after a long day, you needed something like that to cheer you up.
you followed the source of the noise, stopping at the sight of alex in the kitchen making banana bread and singing along to the song. you watched him for a minute, smiling to yourself as he spun around and put on a little show.
when the song ended, you clapped, laughing as alex jumped at the sudden noise.
“bravo, that was beautiful!” you cheered. “encore, encore, encore!”
“ah, as much as ii would love to do so for my wonderful fans, the banana bread i am baking for a very wonderful woman will burn if i don’t take it out now,” he spoke in a posh accent before reaching into the oven, pulling the tray out and setting it to cool.
you looked around at the kitchen, noticing for the first time how spotless it was. you’d left some dishes this morning because you were in a rush, and you were pretty sure you made a mess last night while cooking dinner. you were normally pretty clean, but you were just in a lazy mood these past few days.
“did you clean the kitchen?” you asked alex.
he looked up at you, shrugging to himself, “yeah. when you said you had a bad day, i wanted to make you feel a little bit better. so i came over, cleaned a bit, and cooked.”
“thank you,” you whispered, your heart heavy with too many unspoken emotions.
“you’d do the same for me,” alex shrugged.
it was true. you had done and would continue to do the same thing for him. people often thought you two were just friends, but you were so much more than that. you were everything for the other. alex was the one you’d run to when you got good news or bad news. you were the one alex would find for comfort or to share his joy.
you never questioned it, but you finally realized that somewhere along the way, with the jokes and the laughter and the unbreakable friendship, love had also blossomed.
“y/n?” alex called your name. “are you okay?”
you blinked up at him, realizing that you’d basically zoned out in the middle of the kitchen. lost in your own thoughts, you didn’t know how to reply.
and so you blurted out, “are you in love with me?”
alex froze, staring at you for long enough that you began to wonder if you wildly miscalculated. maybe those lingering gazes and longer than necessary hugs were something you imagined. maybe you two were just friends in his eyes.
“and if i was?” he asked, he met your eyes, not a hint of hesitation in them. “if i was in love with you for as long as i could remember, longer than i even knew what the word meant? that i’ve been waiting for you to notice for years now? what would you say?”
you looked at him, trying to tell if he was joking. it didn’t look like he was.
“i’d say why didn’t you tell me years ago?” you responded honestly. “that way, we’d already be past then. and then… and then i’d tell you to kiss me already because i’ve been in love with you for a long time too.”
alex stared at you, trying to figure out if you’d actually just said that. you hear practically the gears turning in his head, you could imagine the questions he was asking himself.
“it’s not a dream,” you smiled, answering his biggest one.
“oh thank god,” he muttered to himself, reaching you in two long strides.
you gasped as his hands grabbed your waist, your own arms reaching up to grab his shirt. without a moment of hesitation, alex leaned down, his lips capturing yours in a kiss just as sweet as the confession.
oh, he’s in love, you thought to yourself with a little smile.
it’s okay, because so were you.

You’re struggling to find someone you’re as compatible with and who knows you as well as Benedict, all while trying to quell your ever-growing feelings for him. Shenanigans ensue.
A/N: they're so in their evermore era i can't
Tumblr media
July 7, 1814 - The expectations were as high as the chandeliers at the Bridgerton Ball two nights prior. And the night did not disappoint. Our forgone diamond of the season made an appearance at the social event. A fact that is expected given the close relationship between the Beaumonts and Bridgertons, but a pleasant surprise given her recent absence from social happenings. While previously the center of attention, Miss Beaumont danced only once at the Bridgerton Ball with one Mr. Alexander Beaumont. Yes, dear reader, her brother. This leaves us with the lingering question: why did Miss Beaumont choose her brother over the allure of a potential match? It seems that Miss Beaumont is simply tired of the ton's social scene, or perhaps she has lost some of her shine now that her best friend has left for the countryside.
He cleared his throat, rubbing his thumb on his lower lip. Finally meeting your eyes, he said, "Well, I was wondering if you'd want to marry me."
You choked, completely taken aback. "Are you alright, Anthony?" you asked, nervously laughing. "Was the whiskey too strong for you after all?"
He pinched his nose, annoyed at your flippant response, but couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his lips. "Be quiet! I'm trying to help you!" he said, laughing.
You were in hysterics now, too. "Help me?! Help me how, pray tell," you managed to get out between giggles.
"You are impossible! How Benedict deals with you so regularly, I have no idea!" he shot back, poking you in the arm as he said each word.
You gasped in mock offense. "Low blow, Anthony, even for you," you said, shaking your head at him, unable to keep from laughing. "Surely you're joking. Why should I let you marry me?"
"Let me marry– Bloody hell, Y/N, and excuse my language, but really, I am coming from a good place here, and you are making it so difficult," he responded, clearly exasperated by your inability to take him seriously.
You ceased laughing and looked at him directly, cocking your head and widening your eyes when you realized he was being sincere. "Anthony? Surely you're joking, right? Does Alex know? He'll kill you if he finds out you proposed to his little sister."
He sighed deeply, shifting in his seat. "Look, I am not joking. But let me explain first, and then you can ask me questions."
You could do little but stare at him, lips parted in confusion. "Go on, then," you said finally, very interested in hearing an explanation for this incredibly unexpected proposal.
Anthony looked over to where Alex was sitting, deep in conversation with your father, and then looked back to you. He turned in his seat so he was fully facing you, one hand on the back of his chair and the other on his knee, contemplating how best to explain himself without sounding insane. "I know it sounds like a crazy idea. Trust me, I can barely imagine it myself. But I do think it might be a good one," he said finally, hoping to get some kind of response from you, only to be met with a blank stare. You were still entirely unconvinced of his proposal, barely believing that he was being serious.
"Listen, what you said two nights ago is not something I take lightly, given that you mean so much to us, to me and Benedict and our family. And I can see that you're having a rough go of it. The roughest go of it, actually," he continued.
"And you think marrying me will solve my problems because...?" you cut in, not quite following Anthony's logic.
"Well, I've been trying to explain my thought process for the past five minutes, but you're making it awfully hard, Y/N," he shot back, raising his eyebrows at you, amused. You rolled your eyes good-naturedly in response but sat back so you could let him continue.
"This might make more sense if I explain my side of things a bit more, actually," he decided, mentally rearranging what he was going to say to you. "Alex and Simon already know this, but my intention has never been to marry for love. Above all, I view marriage as a duty to my family. Since my father passed, I have been the one responsible for them, and they are the dearest thing in the world to me, as you well know."
At the mention of Edmund, you reached out and placed a hand on Anthony's, remembering how difficult it was for the family when his father passed. He shot you a grateful smile, covering your hand with his and clearing his throat before he continued speaking.
"I will be perfectly candid with you, Y/N, because you deserve nothing less. I was planning on looking for a wife next season, but even so, I believe that pursuing love is an unpleasant and unimportant endeavor, at least for me."
You gasped, slightly taken aback at his cynical views, though yours weren't much sunnier. "Don't you want to fall in love, Anthony? Don't you think you'll find a partnership like the one your parents had?" you prodded, overwhelmed by a sense of sadness. But you also felt somewhat understood, knowing now that Anthony had an unconventional view of marriage.
He gave you a knowing look, saying only, "Don't you?"
Knowing he had a point, you let up. "Fair enough, I suppose," you answered. Is that how you sounded when you spoke of getting married? You were completely disillusioned with the notion, but you had given it more than a few honest tries, while Anthony was set on never looking for a love match. It was quite ironic, seeing how much your parents loved each other and the love between Daphne and Simon, that you and Anthony had developed such depressing views on marriage. You saw Anthony nod in your direction, seemingly happy with your answer.
After a slight pause, Anthony winced, knowing he was about to share much more than he usually would. However, he knew that this would potentially benefit you both, so he fought through the discomfort. "Seeing my mother fall apart after Father died was awful to watch, and I would never want to cause someone that pain. My goal is not to find passion but to secure my family's future. And I was hoping to find someone who would want this different sort of partnership," he said, looking at you pointedly. You had already started connecting the dots in your head and thought you were catching on to where this was going now.
"So you want to have an unconventional marriage together, then?" you asked, hoping you had understood correctly.
He patted your hand, relieved you finally understood what he intended the proposal to sound like rather than the abrupt and blunt question he had asked earlier. "Yes, precisely. Of course, I want you to take as much time as you need to consider this decision since it is quite important. I doubt we would seek an expedited marriage license, but obviously, we can sort out the minutiae later if you decide to do this. There is no pressure one way or another, I simply wanted to give you an option you had probably not considered before," he said, searching your face for any reaction.
However, you remained guarded, still unsure about your feelings. Saying yes to this proposal would definitively mean saying no to Benedict. But Benedict had not even asked you anything, you argued internally. There was nothing to say no to. In fact, he had been the one to say no to you. But you didn't know if you were ready to give up all hope yet. Perhaps you were a fool, but then again, you always were when it came to your best friend.
If you accepted Anthony's proposal, would the now-permanent ache in your chest worsen at the knowledge that you could never have Benedict? Or would you feel better, getting closure Benedict would never give you?
You felt a surge of anger shoot up your spine. Why couldn't Benedict be the one asking you this? After twenty years, why was he the one who left you alone and confused while Anthony was left to pick up the broken pieces of you Ben left behind so carelessly? Even setting aside the added issue of your unrequited feelings for Benedict, Anthony was being a much better friend than him right now. But your anger dissipated quickly, dissolving into desperate sadness. You missed Ben so much; the short letters he had been sending were unsuccessful in placating the ever-growing need to feel his presence beside you. The overwhelming sense that something about you was missing was almost too much to handle, and you felt yourself going around in circles in your head about what you wanted to do.
You knew it could never be the same with Benedict regardless, so you reasoned that you would at least consider Anthony's proposal. You owed it to yourself to consider someone other than Benedict and something other than perpetual singledom without any children to raise or read to.
Realizing Anthony was patiently waiting for you to say something in response, you spoke up. "In theory, this doesn't sound like a terrible partnership," you started, laughing when Anthony snorted and muttered a short "Why, thank you."
"Shush! I'm trying to consider your proposal, and you're making it quite difficult to spend longer than twenty minutes with you, let alone the rest of my life," you joked, stomach dropping slightly when you mentioned the concept of forever. Pushing through your fear, you kept speaking, "I know you, Anthony Bridgerton. And I know you would not do something like this without a plan. So tell me your plan, and I will consider it and give you my answer once I have one."
Anthony couldn't help but laugh at your scolding tone, "You're not wrong." However, he knew he had to be careful about how he presented his reasoning for this proposal. It was no secret that he thought his brother a complete buffoon for refusing to marry you. Anyone could see that your best friend was madly in love with you, and Anthony was beyond confused as to why Benedict was being obtuse and frankly stupid when you so clearly loved him just as much.
It was hard to miss the alarmingly fond looks the two of you exchanged, not to mention what must be dozens of sketches of you in Benedict's studio, try as he might to make it look like there weren't that many. But what really made it the most obvious was Benedict's manner of speaking about you. It was beautiful to hear when Ben forgot himself and spent nearly an hour discussing a fascinating observation you had made about one of his paintings. Or when he saw Eloise reading a book you had read and launched into a speech about your genius way of interpreting a particular passage. Or even when Anthony inquired about any of the paintings of you in his studio and his brother began a lengthy explanation of how he wanted to paint your eyes in a way that captured your thoughtful yet soft gaze, in Ben's words. Benedict's unwavering and wholehearted admiration of you rivaled that of his parents. It seemed to Anthony that you were the sun, and Benedict was happy to be in your orbit if only to relish in the warmth and comfort you brought him. And the same could be said for you.
So, choosing his words carefully, Anthony avoided saying anything that would upset you, knowing you were still raw from Benedict's sudden departure a few weeks ago. "To start, a legal union between our families would only strengthen our bond, and I know we both would still like to remain close with our families after we are married."
Gauging a positive reaction from your raised eyebrows and slight nod, he continued. "Perhaps the most obvious advantage is that we would have the marriage we both want. I would, of course, encourage you to continue pursuing your studies after we were married, and though I would like to have children, and I know you do as well, I am in no particular rush if you don't feel ready yet," he continued.
To be fair, Anthony made a compelling argument. Although your ideal marriage was still the one you had imagined with Benedict as a child, Anthony was realistically the best option for you, especially with the men of the ton being as dreadful as they were and Ben off in the countryside for who knows how long.
"I don't want to feel suffocated by my husband, Anthony," you warned, earning a laugh from him.
"I know you think I'm insane, but I promise I don't want to be a suffocating husband. We want a lot of the same things, just for different reasons," he responded, ready to answer any and all rebuttals you had. Anthony knew this would be a difficult decision, and he had come prepared with the utmost patience to ensure he got rid of all of your doubts to the best of his abilities. Having watched you grow up and grown up alongside you, he had a deep fondness for you, often feeling as protective over you as he did over Eloise or Daphne. Anthony cared about you and wanted the best for you, no matter what that might entail. And if he could find a wife a season earlier than he had expected while you got what you deserved, that was just an added bonus.
In the back of his mind, Anthony hoped that if you accepted his proposal, Benedict might come to his senses before the engagement progressed too far. But he would be a fool to count on his brother to do so, based on how Ben had acted so far. Anthony knew it would be cruel to tell you this and raise your spirits only to be disappointed again. If it came to it, Anthony would be happy to marry you. It was a very practical union, and Anthony quite liked practical things.
"It makes sense, in a way, I suppose. We do want similar things," you muttered to yourself. "And you'd let me read as much as I wanted?" you asked, needing reassurance.
"I promise," answered Anthony, smiling sweetly at you. "Besides, we are already very acquainted with one another, having grown up together, and I'm sure it'd be good fun to be married. Well, at least I think so. And you know me well enough to be able to make that decision for yourself."
You nodded thoughtfully, mulling over all of the possible caveats you could think of to bring up to Anthony. If you were going to go through with this, you needed to be absolutely sure that it was what you wanted. Although it was getting difficult to find negatives about this possible union. It seemed that you would have much more agency with Anthony than if you were married to anyone else, bar Benedict, or as a spinster.
"What about Alex?" you settled on asking. "Have you talked about this with him?"
Both of you subconsciously turned to look at your older brother and then at each other. Anthony gave a slight shake of his head. "No, not yet. But I have a feeling he'll understand and even be supportive. Especially after the other night. And especially now that Benedict left."
You furrowed your brow, confused. What did Anthony mean, especially now that Benedict left? You were about to ask for clarification when Anthony cut in.
"Anyway, don't worry about Alex. I will talk to him and your father, and I know they will be on board with whatever you choose. So all you have to do is decide if this is something you want to do or not," he said quickly, trying to make up for the fact that he had revealed too much before. Anthony knew Alex had similar feelings to Anthony, perhaps even more pent-up anger at Benedict than he did since Benedict was hurting Alex's little sister. But he hadn't meant to tell you so directly. Anthony mentally kicked himself for rubbing salt on your metaphorical wound. Although it seemed that you had let go of his comment, for now, he noted as he watched you rubbing your temples, deep in thought.
You sighed deeply, coming to the realization that this could be it. This decision could change your life forever, and perhaps Benedict's life, depending on how he handled the news. If you accepted the proposal, of course. You couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of guilt, knowing that you could never feel for Anthony the same way you felt about Benedict.
"And you'd be alright with me not being in love with you? I don't think I can do that again. After Benedict," you said softly, still wanting to avoid thinking about losing him as much as possible.
"Yes, I would prefer it, actually," said Anthony, smiling at you. But his playful demeanor was wrapped in a careful tenderness. He understood you better than most people, having learned to see you, above all, through Benedict's eyes. He knew you were terrified. Of being married and not being married, of losing yourself and of staying exactly the same as you were now.
He was terrified, too, to be honest. He knew Benedict would be impossibly angry with him, even though he really had no reason to be, and feared their relationship could be fractured. Not to mention that Anthony had been dreading marriage ever since that fateful day his father fell ill from a bee sting, leaving his mother alone in the empty shell of their loving partnership. He supposed the two of you did sort of make sense in a peculiar way.
"Alright, go away, please," you shooed Anthony away. "I have to actually think about it now. But no matter what happens, I want you to know I'm grateful for your offer. I know it's coming from a very generous place, and it really does mean the world," you added, squeezing his hand as he stood up.
"Of course, Y/N. I'm not Benedict, but you're very important to me nonetheless. Take as much time as you need," he responded, returning your squeeze and making his way over to Colin and Theo, giving you space to mull over your decision.
That was precisely the situation, you thought. Anthony wasn't Benedict. And you had to decide whether or not that was good enough for you. It was a very compelling offer, and you knew it might be your only chance to have anything close to the sort of life you had hoped to have before Henri and the rest of the men of the ton so pointedly crushed your dreams. Benedict was the only reason not to marry Anthony, and he had been quite clear in saying that he wouldn't marry you. But you wanted to enjoy a few more days of imagining that Ben could be yours in some capacity before you had to move on from him forever.
---
Shoving a pile of unsent letters aside, Benedict set a fresh sheet of paper down and started yet another letter he was unlikely to send to you. Now that he had ceased going to parties and bringing home a different woman every night, he found himself with ample bouts of time that he dedicated almost exclusively to thinking about you.
With each new letter you sent, Benedict found himself lost in your words, re-reading them constantly and clinging to any fragment of you that he could still claim as his. In response, he wrote pages and pages of prose he would never send. These ranged from letters he could plausibly send to you, responding to every comment you had made about the book you had read that day. Others were less tame. Sometimes, he found himself unable to keep his overflowing feelings inside of him any longer, choosing instead to write heart-wrenching confessions of a love so deep and all-consuming that it permeated every fiber of his being. But Anthony's words reverberated in his head, warning him not to lead you on, every time he contemplated addressing these letters.
But Benedict loved you. The real, soul-crushing sort of love that only came once in a lifetime. The kind of love that grew from years of being by your side, knowing every detail of you, and still wanting to know more. He was far past the point of denying it and had now stumbled on an agonizing feeling of wanting. He wanted you by his side while he painted, quietly discussing the colors or the shading he was working on. He wanted to put his head in your lap as you sat in the garden, feeling your fingers running softly through his hair. He wanted to look over at night and find your sleeping form beside him, less than an arm's length away as he fell asleep holding you. Most of all, he wanted to be content in the knowledge that he could hold your hand, breathe in your scent, and twist your hair in his fingers as he kissed you every single day for the rest of his life.
The moment in your garden by the rose bushes from the day before he left, where he came so close to kissing you, haunted his every waking moment. He couldn't seem to forget the way your lips parted, moving ever so slightly closer to his. The feeling of your soft breath against his skin, luring him in. He had been so close to just giving in and touching your expectant lips with his. It was all he had dreamed about doing ever since he had come back from Oxford and felt you in his arms, realizing that he never wanted to spend another day apart from you. He still wondered what would have happened if he had just done it. If he had just leaned over a few inches to join your lips and brushed his thumb on your cheek as he grabbed your waist. But he hadn't. Instead he had fled to the countryside, where he was missing you more than ever and ridden with jealousy at the thought of you with another man.
Benedict didn't know if the ache of longing would ever fade. All he knew was that you were a permanent mark left on him he would never be able to wash off even if he wanted to. A part of him would always be you. The proof of that was on his desk cluttered with letters that would never find their way to you and in his studio housing nearly a dozen unfinished portraits of you.
Clutching to a sliver of hope, he held onto the fact that no news of your engagement had reached him. Yet, each day brought with it a tormenting dread as he approached his unopened letters, torn between the desperate hope for a letter from you and the paralyzing fear that he would receive an invitation to your wedding. But for now, he could still pretend you were his, at least partially.

Your damn cherry chapstick | Alex Morgan
Tumblr media
a/n: from this prompt list. Let's pretend that voicemails can actually be this long lol.
Prompt Request: 10. I still remember how you taste...
Warnings: Implied Smut, MDNI, cursing, alcohol
Word Count: 573
Part 2 here
You have one new message
“God, I shouldn't even be doing this, fuck, how long since we talked talked?... I shouldn’t have had that stupid fucking wine... Fuck, like it matters, you probably are going to delete this once you see it’s from me…I’m not here to say congrats on marrying Servando…nah you know that’s not very me.”
Pause
“I regret introducing you to Servando, I really do…I would’ve been the one dancing with you at that Gala. I was just sitting there drinking away at that cheap ass, champagne they gave us and overlooking the campus while you were having the time of your life.”
Pause
“Funny, he looked so happy having you in his arms that day when not even hours before I was in between your legs, Morgan. I thought I had you back completely but you broke up whatever we had and went running to him once we got to the end of the year Gala for Cal Soccer”
Pause
“Do you remember that last time? You showed up at my apartment after skipping your Philosophy lecture wanting to “see me again” after ignoring me for weeks because you were with Servando. Hell, talking lasted 6 minutes before you pushed me against the wall begging me to kiss you…”
“I still remember how you taste, Alex…even the taste of your damn, cherry, chapstick. The sounds you made for me then are ingrained in my head...God, I’ll never forget. The way that it was all because of me and I was the only one who could make you feel that way… you said it yourself. Fuck, I wouldn’t have let you go that morning if I had known it was the last time; maybe things would have been different.”
Pause
“Nah, you knew what you were doing. It was just a fucking goodbye, wasn’t it? Got my hopes up and just broke it the moment you saw Servando?!? Fuck, Alex, you know what, I’m glad I had that career-ending injury in  Portland, I saved myself all that time pining over you, wishing to have your back…”
Pause
“That sounded pathetic of me…’I still remember how you taste, Alex’ like that isn't the sound of pining over someone. Hell, you wouldn’t have said the same for me maybe because I didn’t let you…I was just happy tasting you and having you all to myself.”
Pause
“You know Servando actually texted me asking me if I wanted to be invited to the wedding. Said that I slipped through the cracks in planning…Funny, wonder if that was intentional on your part, babe. Afraid that you’ll leave Servando immediately if you see me. I mean you did that but to me back all those years ago…why wouldn’t you do it again?”...Anyways, Sev, pushed the idea that I give a speech of how I introduced you two…I declined of course…said I was busy.
Pause
“Is it cocky for me to assume I was the best you ever have? Probably… Anyways good luck on this marriage thing. Tell Servando that his ass should be happy that I introduced him to “the love of his life”. I hope you remember me the way that I remember you, I love you Alex Morgan, I’ve always had…it’d be ironic if I said don’t be a stranger because you do that all on your own…”
“Don’t you dare text me…I swear to God, Alex Morgan”

Dazai Osamu: Cam Girl’s Crush
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pt. 1 IU darling
Genre: Romance // ADA!Dazai x camgirl!reader
⚠️: Mentions of sex & suggestive
A/N: I reread BJ Alex and I was like, “What if Dazai was DG and reader was Jiwon?” Except reader talks about Dazai during her streams (ofc she doesn’t say Dazai’s name) the more she talks about Dazai in her streams the more Dazai pieces the puzzle together. This was written during August and I’m still kind of afraid to post it..
INSPO: Mingwa’s BJ Alex
LINKS: Masterlist , pt.2
Tumblr media
The blinds were closed, the lights were dim, the room was set, and the night was young—the perfect time and atmosphere to stream. You put on your mask and wore a black lace lingerie, you then started your stream with a confident smile dancing on your lips. “Good evening darlings~” you spoke seductively as you held your face gently.
Your views started to skyrocket, people were clicking on your stream the moment it started and it just so happens that your coworker—Dazai Osamu was one of the thousands of people who always waited for you to go live.
10:00 Friday nights, Dazai was always there. Your most loyal supporter who hid his identity behind his online moniker—IU, the last letters in ‘Dazai Osamu’ he once saw you on a targeted ad in one of his informants’ laptop. For days he couldn’t get the mental image of you out of his head. After a while he gave into his urges and searched you up, he couldn’t stop watching you ever since.
Not only was Dazai almost always first to all your streams, he was your highest donator. “Always a pleasure to have you in my streams IU darling~” you greeted as he entered your stream.
xxxxxxx “Unfair!! I want to be ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ greeted by her too!!”
xxxx “Greet me too mommy”
xxx donated 635 $$ for u ;))))
Dazai loved how special his online persona became to his favorite cam girl. He did find it delightfully strange that sometimes the stories on the streams would line up with the interactions he’s had in real life, except, it was from the other person’s perspective—specifically who you were behind the camera.
By day you were a young, smart, and talented, seemingly a perfect and witty detective. During Friday nights you were a cute and tainted cam girl. Thousands of people watched you live and joined you in sensual and erotic play all while you kept your reputation as a detective.
“Ah~ I spoke to the prettiest boy today!” You spoke, gushing about your interaction with Dazai.
xxxxxx “Is this the same ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ guy you always talk about?”
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎xxx “The infamous cam ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ girl’s crush!!”

Dazai, like your other viewers often wondered about the boy you spoke about. He often felt jealous but also found comfort in his delusions, thinking about the fact that your stories would line up with his days. He would melt in his self-absorbed thoughts as he touched himself, imagining that it was you.
He couldn’t deny the striking resemblance his favorite cam girl had to his adorable coworker. Often times he would think that the both of you were the same person, he wasn’t wrong but he’d just shake the those thoughts away, knowing that he shouldn’t think about ‘detective you’ in such an impure light. He didn’t know if he wanted the ‘detective you’ or the ‘cam girl you’ still unaware that his adorable coworker and his favorite cam girl were the same person.
“I want to him to fuck me so bad..” you whined.
xxxxxx “I’ll fuck you better.”

Your followers loved your every move. They loved watching you, they loved hearing your voice and your sweet moans. Your streams were always on top of the charts, beating every other streamer on the site.
After the stream Dazai stayed up late, he devised a plan to confirm his thoughts about your identity. Even if he was wrong at least he’d score some time with his cute coworker so all in all he had nothing to lose.
Over the weekend he thought of how he should execute his plan. He was going to bring you to a bar on Friday, making sure you weren’t home by 10PM. If there was a stream then it meant that he was wrong but if there wasn’t then maybe he could get a private stream—maybe one he could feel.
He also made sure to be extra flirty with you throughout the week, holding your hand while you walk, hugging you when you arrive, and whispering dirty things in your ear. “Darling.. you and I should really spend some time under the sheets, yeah? You don’t even have to work, you could just be my pillow princess~” he whispered in your ear, “When and where, Osamu-kun?” You replied with a confident smile written on your face.
He smirked with pride as he held your chin with his fingers and lifted it up, giving him access to your neck which he softly kissed before slowly pulling away. He gently removed his grip from your chin and smiled as he walked away, leaving you dumbfounded and undoubtedly aroused.
Dazai even asked Kunikida if he could bail on their cases so that he could work with you instead. Dazai happily volunteered Atsushi to work with Kunikida instead. Kunikida agreed in the end, not wanting to be subjected to Dazai’s constant whines.
When Friday came, you and Dazai were assigned to a small task, the only catch was it was a bit far away, an hour from the main district of Yokohama. You both took a train to the location, you just needed to help their local force to find a certain burglar who was believed to have an ability. It was said that the burglar could become invisible, which Dazai was handy for. You were there to make sure that everything would go as planned.
Once you got to the police station, you both immediately spoke to the local force. Dazai asked for details and any possible patterns. The local force handed you a file and the both of you studied it carefully for a few minutes. Dazai immediately found a pattern. It often astonished you how smart he was. He would constantly find patterns, solve puzzles, and uncover hidden messages. He was a true detective through and through.
You devised a plan with the local force and it sprung into action; with Dazai finding out the next target location there was nothing the burglar could do to prevent himself from getting caught. The police force carried their job professionally and blocked all the exits, they dressed up as casual bouncers to pose less of a threat. While you were behind the security system and Dazai was walking around the building.
To your surprise there were little detours and Dazai listened to your requests. Although he was still flirty and touchy, he did get the job done quickly. The burglar was arrested and you and Dazai started walking towards the train station after the local force thanked the both of you, “That was surprisingly quick,” you muttered in surprise, “I bet I can make you c—” before Dazai could finish his sentence you stopped him, “Shush,” you put your finger over his lips and gave him a small kiss on the cheek, “Just because you were such a good boy today.”
Dazai smiled happily. He felt like he was blessed by the heavens, “Oh darling! You certainly do know how to make a man like me happy~” he cooed. You chuckled at his overly dramatic response and started walking towards the station, not wanting to miss the train.
Dazai immediately walked beside you and held your hand intimately. “You’re like a puppy, always following me around.” You teased, to which Dazai chuckled to in response. The both of you reached the station after a few minutes of walking and to your dismay there were copious amounts of people on the bullet train.
There were no more seats available and no more straps to hang onto. Dazai held onto the bar near the door of the train, “Come darling,” without another word he grabbed you by your waist and pulled you onto his body securely, “You’re much safer with me.”
Dazai would be a fool to miss such an opportunity to have you so close to him. “Your ti-” you cut him off again, “Shut up,” you said with an annoyed tone. Dazai loved your reactions he wanted more reactions from you, specifically something a bit more lewd.
During the train ride Dazai couldn’t stop thinking about touching your body but he had to be patient. Once you got off the train he still made sure to have an arm wrapped around your waist, which you didn’t really mind. “Darling, do you have plans tonight?” He spoke, he was about to ask you to go to the bar with him to put his plan into full action, “Yes, why?” You answered. “I was wondering if you wanted to go to a bar with me tonight, since you did say I was such a good boy today.”
Everything was going just as Dazai had planned. He was on his way to victory, he could practically taste your lips on his.

his hands are in my hair, his
in which henry’s hand in his hair just does things to him, okay?
He’s not the big spoon all the time.
When they’re pressed for space (the limo in Berlin, for example), he somehow ends up with his head tucked into Henry’s shoulder—blissed out, fuckstruck, arm draped over Henry’s torso, Henry’s fingers in his hair.
Or when Alex falls asleep in other places Henry would call inopportune (listen—the Met Gala ran late and it’s a long train ride back to their brownstone), it’s always to Henry’s body wrapped warmly around his, the soothing feel of Henry’s fingers lightly dragging through his curls, against his scalp down to his nape, and…mmm…Alex can’t help but nod right off.
All right, so, maybe he’s starting to see a pattern form here.
Henry has a thing for his hair. Alex knows it. Alex likes it. (More than likes it—can be very vocal about it in fact—and it’s not not partly because of the way Henry flushes pretty pink when they’re dancing in front of a statue of Venus and Alex makes how much he enjoys it known directly into Henry’s ear.)
Alex is also learning that under the right circumstances, he likes it to the point where his brain short-circuits by shutting off altogether—which, whether it happens while they’re at June and Nora’s or on the couch in their own home, so entirely not his own doing.
Alex can’t help if his boyfriend’s obsessed with touching his hair.
Anyway, case in point: tonight they’re sprawled out on said couch, Alex with a textbook, Henry with David curled up on his other side, the two of them engrossed in their third episode of Bake Off. Alex is so content that he feels warm with it, even halfway to drowsy, even though he still has another chapter or four to get through before bed.
It’s a valiant effort, staying awake, considering Henry’s wound his hand through Alex’s hair yet again, his elbow resting on Alex’s shoulder, and he smells like home when Alex buries his face into his chest, just breathing him in, breathing in this, and—wait. Wait a minute.
Alex leans back, though not far enough to pull Henry’s hand away from his hair. Not that, never that. “How dare you try to lull me to sleep with your hand in my hair right in the middle of biscuit week?” he demands, suitably indignant for someone who’s just yawned so loudly that even David looked reproachful.
Henry levels him with a bemused expression. “Darling,” he says, like Alex is being a little bit slow. “You’re the one who put my hand there.”
“What?”
“You put my hand there,” Henry repeats. The corner of his mouth twitches up in the slightest hint of a smirk, which Alex resolves to do something about momentarily. “You literally reached over about five minutes ago, wormed your way beneath my arm and then bodily forced my hand in your hair.” Almost a full-blown smirk now, and yep, Alex is definitely going to kiss it right off his face in a second. “Wouldn’t be the first time, either, in case you happened to wonder.”
Lies, Alex thinks.
“Lies,” Alex tells him. “That is not a thing.” At Henry’s look, which is altogether too smug for his liking (another lie, thinks Alex again, he actually likes it a hell of a lot), he leans back in, pressing his nose against Henry’s jawline. “But I do like it when you talk dirty to me.”
Henry’s breath gives the tiniest hitch, fingers tightening almost reflexively in Alex’s hair. It sends a full-body shudder down his spine, driving all rational thought from his mind as he presses even closer, and, well—even if it is a thing that he does (it isn’t (oh, it so, so is)), Alex can hardly be held accountable when this is the state it leaves him in, can he?
also on ao3 because why not.
