But if things start to turn against your favor, he's right by your side fighting it out with you

JANE THE KILLER:

Crosses her arms and watches from the side

She's told you! Fighting isn't the answer but she also knows you do as you please

So she'll wait until it's all over to give you a piece of her mind. Expect a verrrryyyy long lecture

If you got your shit rocked, she'll patch you up. If you won, she'll give you a job well done nod but that doesn't stop her from her lecture

NINA THE KILLER:

She's the type to get a teacher/administrator

She meant well! She did! She didn't know you'd get suspended for fighting!

She'll make up rumors about the person you were fighting and of course everyone at school believes it! She knows everyone!

Doesn't know how to patch you up but she'll take you to Jack

KATE THE CHASER:

Doesn't care what you say, she's jumping in

She also doesn't care and will take the suspension for you

"What? No I started it. It's my fault."

Gives you a smile as they drag her away to the office. Worth it beating the shit out of them is all she thought

CLOCKWORK:

Similar to Kate she'll jump right in. But she doesn't bother using her fists.

She pulls a knife and immediately the enemy throws their hands up in defeat

Ain't no one gonna touch her s/o. Not when she's around to stop it

Sorry but if you fight she fights

"TICCI" TOBY:

Loses his fucking mind. It's not like he can feel pain anyway!

"DON'T YOU F-FUCKIN' TOUCH THEM!"

Makes a huge giant scene out of beating them to a pulp. Like Clocky, ain't no one gonna touch his s/o if he's around.

Honestly has to get pulled off of your attacker and probably has security called

TIM/MASKY:

As soon as he shows up, your attacker steps away

Everyone knows Tim's a powerhouse and he doesn't just wrestle, he's a damn good fighter too

Pulls you away and takes your spot in the fight if the attacker keeps fighting once he shows up

He has no problem taking their punches for you. He ends up knocking them out with one punch and walking away with you like nothing happened

BRIAN/HOODIE:

Scoops you up and runs the fuck away with you!

He doesn't like fights and he certainly doesn't need his precious s/o getting hurt

He's so fast barely anyone can catch up with y'all

He's in it for the long run after that. He'll stalk them, record filthy or embarrassing moments and post it for all the school to see. His revenge is slow but effective

EYELESS JACK:

He tries to keep his shit together when your attacker was just verbally berating you. He hates it if anyone talks to you that way

But as soon as they swing something snaps in him. No one expected a non athletic honors student to fight like that

Almost kills them with how hard he's strangling them. It takes you begging him to let go for him to finally do so.

He growls that he'll kill them if they tell anyone about this and carries you away

Station 19 6x18

Can Theo go? How more toxic can he be? Writers really said, "Oh you hate Sullivan? Let me show you someone worse". What an asshole. Making out with Kate just because Vic was proud of Andy. Who, mind you, is one of her closest friends and has been fighting for that position for a long time.

Captain Herrera, fucking finally. I hope that storyline ends there. We don't care about that anymore. She is going to be a great captain. Let her be captain until season 11, at least.

I wish we had seen a conversation between Maya and Andy about the captaincy.

Jack lost consciousness, so he couldn't tell Vic what he saw. If they kill Jack, I'm suing. He is just a dumb guy, and he doesn't deserve that. I hated him when he was part of Maya and Carina, but he is getting his life together.

Travis has been a shitty friend to Vic, btw. Vic told him what happened with Theo and Travis just saying "Sometimes that happens".

I love we got to see more of Vic and Andy together.

As much as I loved those scenes with Maya and Carina in their apartment. I wished they were on the opening scene. That looked like fun. Maya and Carina are always out of the group.

Are Maya and Carina going to adopt that baby? I know Carina wants to give birth, but they just brought that pregnant lady for Carina to do something? Or is Jack adopting the baby?

What the hell is this? I want a written essay about why Carina flinches like that. Couldn't this scene be like 5 seconds longer?

I'm so annoyed that Carina had to wear her wedding outfit to the ball. You are telling me she didn't have any other dress??? ANY OTHER DRESS??? Why? What was the point? Why do the writers hate Carina so much? She could have gone and bought anything. I'm sure she has gone to some events that required formal dress.

I can't even enjoy her scenes at the ball because of that damn outfit.

I'd never forget Danielle for giving Maya bangs. I know it's just hair, but Maya is not a bangs woman. She wears her hair slicked in a tall ponytail, controlled and put together. Bangs are carefree.

Danielle looks beautiful, but that's not Maya. She could have waited a week to get bangs. I'm in mourning.

It wasn't even mentioned. When she cut her hair short, it made sense. It was a beautiful moment, and she looked very hot. But those bangs just, I don't know. I'd never question Danielle's acting choice, but I feel that this episode was more Danielle than Maya.

This was a good episode. I hope they keep this energy for future epsidoes

I'd love to see them getting ready for the ball. Maya and Carina with the group. They teasing Maya and Carina for being late. CARINA WITH A NEW DRESS (This bothers me so fucking much)

This was my favorite kiss, btw. I guess I'm a sucker for fluff. I loved this scene so much. Even tho We should have seen Maya topping Carina.

Anyways we survived Krista, and I hope next season is better. Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige, here are my recommendations:

not the claire jack beef anon BUT i also think that they would have issues with each other at least at first. like, for one, that we see, cas never gives jack The Talk about claire, or vice versa, so they would absolutely see the other as this second secret family. dean also has a CLEAR favorite between the two, and each kind of lives the other's dream life. jack wants to be safe and loved unconditionally, and a chance at a normal life, like claire has with jody, donna, alex, patience, and wendy. claire is incapable of slowing down and wants the big adventures cas, sam, and dean get into. claire i think has maybe forgiven cas about jimmy, but being dumped in favor of this other kid, the child of the devil (who canonically killed jimmy!) might be a bridge too far and jack doesn't respond all that well to that kind of discomfort and misplace hostility.

I love your conceptualization of the vibes being reminiscent of the Secret Second Family. It also calls to mind an echo of Adam & Kate Milligan, doesn't it, even though it's not an exact one-to-one? It's uncomfortable. I like it.

Yes, Claire and Dean get along like hot jam on fire, and that's going to hurt, no matter how you slice it. Dean adores her.

And yes, you know, now that you mention it... Holy crap. Claire does have the life Jack wants. She's surrounded by a big family that loves her with built-in friends her own age that Get The Life. Absolutely, it would appear perfect to him, at least from the outside. I'm wholly accepting that little gem into my worldview.

And yes, it's a good observation that Jack doesn't respond all that well to that misplaced hostility. He can be very defensive.

And yes, I agree that this whole situation might be a step too far for Claire Powder-keg-Novak, even if she tries to swallow it down. I mean, she still sleeps with Grumpy Cat. In the 12x16 Ladies Drink Free script, Cas still emojis to her, sometimes, even two years out from their parting of ways.

She left them. Of course, she doesn't care. That's what she's going to tell herself, anyway.

CLAIRE: Who's Jack? ALEX/JODY (together): Lucifer's son. On Patience, silently reacting to that: Lucifer's son? What the fuck? On Claire-- a bit wounded to realize she knows so little about Sam and Dean these days.

I've only seen him in Black Friday and like 2 seconds of NPMD but he has such a sincere earnestness to his performance, I think he would be a great Jack.

Jack's Mother: Rachel Soglin

She's my favourite exhausted mother in Trail to Oregon, this is the same part but meaner and without an idiot husband falsettoing in a wagon with a floor window.

Cinderella's Stepmother: Mary Kate Wiles

(She's in Working Boys so she counts as Team Starkid) She has a wonderfully dry delivery and while in Spies Are Forever, she uses it for a Jaded Hero character, I want to see her use it for a truly cruel character.

Florinda and Lucinda: Angela Giarratana and Jaime Burns

Both wonderful comedic actresses who would definitely make these relatively small parts very memorable.

Little Red Riding Hood: Mariah Rose Faith Casillas

Is this just an excuse for a (albeit not as direct) third "Corey is Mariah's Father" casting? Yeah, kinda. But also Mariah is amazing in pretty much any part.

The Witch: Jaime Lynn Beatty

This feels so obvious. Her physical acting, character work and amazing belt are MADE to play the Witch. I am always open to constructive criticism except for this one.

Cinderella's Mother: Brittany Coleman

According to the Team Starkid Wiki, she's played this part in the Baltimore Centre Stage production, so she not only would obviously slay this part, she HAS already slayed this part.

Wolf/Cinderella's Prince: Joey Richter

Hmm, who do I get to play two parts, one who's supposed to be creepy and one who's supposed to be irresistibly sexy? I dunno. Anyway, Joey Richter has such amazing range, he plays skeevy villains like Mcdoon (the bandit king) in Trail to Oregon and Wiley in Black Friday , but also is so hot and charming as Ethan in Nightmare time and as Owen in Spies are Forever. Don't know why I bring that up now.

Rapunzel: Kim Whalen

Soprano Queen, actual princess. Also, I want her and Curt to play an actual couple

Rapunzel's Prince: Curt Mega

Not to fall into the Internet Wife Guy Trap but Curt seems so in love with his wife and I think he would be so good as the prince who would do anything to be with her (God please don't pull a Ned Fulmer Curt I swear to God). Also, if you haven't seen him and Joey do Agony for Shitty Broadway, please go watch it, it's amazing.

All right, all right. This is a bad idea! I've been trying not to cross these streams for a long time! But: fuck it. Who fics ahead!

Long story short: I used to write under another pen name. I stopped using it and deleted my old journal after some personal crap, which still makes me feel sad and stupid, and I'd wanted at the time to scrub the slate clean. Some of what's still kicking around under my old username, though, includes stories at whofic.com, which predates AO3 and still exists, doing its Whovian thing.

So after recent fandom flashbacks, I've been rereading my old stuff. Which has been...interesting!

Obligatory disclaimer: oh, god, do I want to edit everything. These date back as far as 2005, and so certain old habits linger, like the fact that I hadn't yet gotten over my torrid love affairs with the semicolon and the ellipsis. I want to fix the occasional dips into overwrought nonsense. I'm also looking at some of the more adult content and thinking, "Okay, that went from 0-60 a wee bit fast. Calm the hell down, self."

BUT: there's also stuff here I like! And about which I'm thinking "crap, I used to be good at this," because I can never leave myself alone!

Anyway, here's a few stories from the "this does not shame me" pile, plus notes:

Gen

Translations (Ten/Rose) Original description: There are some things the TARDIS doesn't translate, and some secrets of the Doctor's left unexplained. Rose is setting out to find out why.

Probably the best thing of mine on this archive, and one of the most developed narratives. The sneaky, sneaky merchant, whose storyline never quite gets resolved (on purpose), was one of my better ideas. The other was Rose interpreting the TARDIS console's layout as looking like a Gallifreyan word. And, for that matter, Rose's name looking like an actual flower. Thank you, DW designers, for a completely impractical but extremely cool-looking written language. Also, the fact that the marketplace has thirteen floors, and they were on the tenth? Yeah, yeah, that was on the nose. I note that since then, the showrunners have thrown the Doctor's thirteen-regenerations limit out the window, for perfectly understandable reasons, but it was still kicking around at the time.

Roundabout (Nine/Rose) Original description: Time and possibilities keep turning. an exploration of the Doctor and Rose's relationship throughout the series. Spoilers for all [first season] episodes.

The other one that I'd file under "hey, you wrote a story! And it's not bad! Good job, self!" file. I really loved Nine and Rose, and I went to town with it here. I also got completely self-indulgent in a few places. As one does. The scene at the club is my favorite on that account. This quip of Jack's to the Doctor was, among other things, a sidelong nod to a few of my feelings about American polarization, and believe me, It's worse now: "It's Saturday night. We're in one of the last great cities of post-Dissolution America. And the most handsome man in the club has just bought you an Electric Comet. Do yourself a favor. Get drunk." Also, the reason Rose thinks she knows the music that's playing is that it's 110% a quote from a Billie Piper song. I don't think anybody ever noticed, but it's there.

Outgeniused (or: How to Get Fired From the Apple Store in Three Easy Steps) (Ten, OC) Original description: Kate Stowe's seen a lot of strange problems come up at the Genius Bar, but this one qualifies as the strangest she's seen yet. Presenting a bit of shameless insanity, featuring the Doctor, a race of aliens with quite inconvenient taste, and several unorthodox ways to break your iPod's warranty. (In other words: crackfic ahead!)

I really wasn't kidding about that last line. This one is unabashed ridiculousness, inspired by your author doing a seasonal stint in Apple retail that left a goddamn mark. Sadly, the Doctor never swung by my store. A lot of real-life tidbits did make their way into this story, though. And despite all odds, it's got a plot! Fun facts (for nerds): the product line was accurate as of the time I wrote this. The iPod shuffle disclaimer I was talking about? That was absolutely a thing. And my favorite line is still the Doctor apologizing for not getting AppleCare, because I had to pitch that to so many people. I have never once bought it for myself. No regrets. Don't tell Tim. Also, apparently the UK really has gone all-in on Black Friday since I wrote this. I have to ask: why? Why must you import the worst of our capitalistic excesses? You really didn't have to! Le sigh.

The Naughty Bits

A Matter of Timing (Ten/Rose) Original description: In matters of love, sex and the technicalities thereof, somebody better be thinking ahead. Rose/Ten, post-Journey's End.

Short, sweet, and silly. This one's about Rose and the clone of Ten off in their parallel universe, and exists for the sake of the conversation they're having, which is in part about the mechanics of that whole cloning thing. Although it's mostly about the sex. Which they are absolutely and enthusiastically having the whole damn time. ("Haven't ever seen that on a clock" is still my favorite line.)

Slightly Psychic Confessions (Nine/Rose/Jack) Original description: Getting caught with slightly psychic paper in one's hands can be a dangerous thing indeed.

Like it says on the tin. 90% of the reason this was written was so I could play with the props, and the dialogue (both spoken and psychically transcribed) is the part I most enjoy, although I've been told the rest of it's pretty okay too. ...yes, the rest of it is a threesome. Stop looking at me like that.

Selfish Dreams (Ten/Rose) Original description: Wherein solutions to lingering nightmares lead to a different sort of sleeplessness. Slightly spoilery through "The Satan Pit."

Sometimes I get creepy, even with characters I love and will ship forever. This one was mostly me thinking through some of the...potentially fraught...implications of Ten's psychic abilities, and is one of my "I guess I'm preoccupied with nightmares and dreams, because I'm gonna come back to that in a few different ways" stories in this archive. Anyway, none of what they're up to here is what I'd consider a good idea. At least Rose enjoyed herself, though.

Forgetting the Nightmare (Nine/Jack) Original description: In which neither the Doctor nor Jack can get any sleep, but for very different reasons.

As I was saying. This is about a plot point from the show I'd forgotten about since writing this: Jack's two years of missing memory. (So, yes, apparently mine's missing too. It's been A LONG TIME, okay?) He's having some issues coming to terms with that. So how do I decide to have them address it? Boinking on the TARDIS floor, apparently. ...ahem. Anyway, as is the case with a lot of the shit I wrote, it's a little emotionally messy. It also hints at a few things that are still very much up for interpretation. Less in need of puzzling out is that yes, the two lost years are represented by the two burned-out lights on the console they're trying to fix, because I am occasionally as subtle as a brick.

Beyond Locked Doors (Ten/Reinette) Original description: A glimpse into Reinette's memories and dreams throughout the events of "The Girl in the Fireplace."

Yeah, this is one of those that dips into being overwrought, and yes, my inner editor is bitching at me about sacrificing clarity in the process. But writing from Reinette's POV was a fun exercise. It's a very different flavor from everything else here. Also, just to get this stated, you still can't tell me that the "dance with me" line in the show and those two disappearing off screen together wasn't also Moffat being subtle as a brick with his metaphors, so I still feel justified in writing this one. The (implied) sex was canon and I will die on that hill.

So Brief, In Bloom (Ten/Reinette) Original description: Wherein the Doctor thinks of other ways this could have gone.

And now...things go south. I'm pretty sure I'm the only weirdo who cared about this story. It is, let's be fair, also weird. This is about Ten being haunted by the idea of what might have happened if he did get Reinette to come along with him, and what the ramifications of that change might be. Not overtly stated, but it's there, is that in this alternate timeline, Rose didn't take well to this idea, and eventually left. The result is some Seriously Conflicted Feelings. And some ill-advised attempts at banishing them. I once got a comment on my old journal from somebody who didn't understand the last line. it's oblique on purpose, and you're invited to imagine your own version, but what was going on in my head was that back in the actual timeline, Ten absolutely had his way with Rose against that very same wall to try to scrub the idea of the other timeline out of his head. Considering that the wayward strand of hair he found could have belonged to either her or Reinette, though? It...didn't exactly help.

A Laugh Like Thunder (The Master/Lucy) Original description: The Master and Lucy on the eve of destruction, thinking of what's to come. (Spoilers through "The Sound of Drums.")

I'm including this here solely because I'd forgotten about it until I trawled back through my archive, and was thus smacked upside the head with the facts that A: it existed at all, B: this thing went places, and C: I started it off with, "On the eve of destruction, the Prime Minister tied his wife to the bedposts and began to think of another man." Go off, self.

“You’re not going,Y/N. It’s not safe.”

-Jeff a total of 5 hours ago when him and the pastas that could conceal there identities said they were going to a “cool motor party” or somthin I don’t know I heard party and saw my change to finally get out of the house. So I took it and snuck away when Jeff wasn’t paying attention and now I’m at this big ass party- more like event. Jesus have you seen this place???

I roll my eyes at the thought, and take a look around, the first thing I see is Kate selling drinks,and I knew it was Kate because Of that jacket she always wears, with a motorcycle cycle helmet on, I guess the employees have to wear them? I don't fuckin no, so I walk over to the stand, the top of the gazebo is blue, probably one of those cheap ones from Walmart or some shit, anyway | greet her, she recognizes me and hands me a red solo cup of [insert what you want to drink here lolz] and I wave bye and walk off.

I stop at the gate, the motorists are practicing before the show, so everyone here has a chance to roam and stuff, and y' know, get robbed or something, anyway I'm completely focused on these men, just wandering about,engines blare, sand is getting thrown from the weals.

And then I feel it, hands,No knuckles, rubbing up and down my back, I whip around, about to slap the bee-Jesus (ya like jazz 🐝??) out of the person who had the nerve to touch me…and then I paused.

“Oh…hey Jack.”

He had a helmet on, to hide his..demonic..appearance but I knew it was him, from his gloves, he wore them so no one would see his claws

“Hello love, I thought you weren’t aloud to be out here?”

“Because Jeff told me it was “dangerous”? He literally uses me as a “get out of ass beating free” card every time we’re on a mission together, I don’t value a single thing he says.”

He places his hands on my hips, lightly pulling me in

“Well, it’s good to see you.”

He smiles. God why do I fall for the dorks..?

“It’s good to see you to.”

Then Toby comes up behind him, rolling his deep, dark umber eyes (yes I did google “different types of brown” for this,SHUT-)

“Jesus could you be any more gay???? Like seri-seriously. This is just sad.”

He says with a stutter

“Kind of hard to be a dick when you have a chronic stutter problem gay boy”

He rolles his eyes, his face mask slipping lightly off his nose,so he moves it back up, then his phone rings,he huffs and pulls it out of his pocket and picks it up.

“WHAT.?”

Me and Jack look at each-other

“Jesus fuck Ben are you serious??? You had one job. One fucking job.”

He looks pissed, he wasn’t usually this easy to aggravate.Maybe his bipolar is acting up?I think he might’ve been out of those meds.

“You.”

Toby points at me.

“What.”

“You’re getting in the cage.”

“No the actual fuck he is not.”

Jack says, I can feel his grip on my waist tightening

“Fuck off Toby.”

“No. There not even supposed to be here. You heard Jeff.”

Jack let’s go of my waist, getting in Toby’s face

“Oh yea? And you’re gonna do what. Make them??”

“No. But how about this? They get in the cage, and if they make it out without pissing there pants they can stay. Ok!?”

Jack turns to look at me

“Sure I guess”

I say with a shrug

As I get into the cage I feel Toby eyeing me from afar

“Ok so all you have to do is keep your arms up or close to your body, and if me or Toby hands you anything keep it close to your body ok?”

I nod

“Ok great, the show will start soon, so just be ready.”

Then he walks out of the cage and after a few minutes I hear engines blaring, people cheering, so I throw my arms up and wait, the black tank top I was wearing lightly rising up, and in a moment there was a man in the cage with me,the visor on the helmet lifted so I could tell who it was,it was Jack, I’m surprised he could operate a motorcycle with such lack of vision.

He did rings around the cage, as he went his hands layed on my chest, shoulders, waist and back, he loved to touch me, that was evident, his favorite activity when we were alone together was to trace my scars, getting visibly upset when I told him there was more then the ones on my arms, he hated the idea that I wanted to hurt myself, and that I used to.

After about 5 minutes of spinning he exits the cage, it goes silent for a minute, and it stays silent..and it stays silent.. I want to turn around, to see why it was so silent, and then the noise started back up again, thankfully, and Toby entered the cage.

He however was not as fun to be around as Jack, he was going insanely fast around the cage. Batting at me with his nails, leaving red marks and lashes all over my upper body, one on my face to, this went on for what felt like hours.

How did girls and Charlie handle their periods while on the island? Were there any pads/tampons available? Or was it all lost or in small quantities?

I've thought about this!

First of all, yes I do think there are pads and tamps on the island, as there would have been plenty in assorted luggage. This program just didn't think this needed to be addressed on a show that was about survival for it's first,,, half a season? Indeed, in all of LOST there are two acknowledgements that periods exist:

Claire saying she's late when she's taking a pregnancy test

Kate going from suspecting she's pregnant to being absolutely sure she isn't, implying she got her period

And I suppose in between eps, Sun must have been late for hers in order for her to suspect she was pregnant

Overall, LOST only acknowledges periods when it absolutely has to, and even then is rather hush hush about it

Anyways, I think post crash, Sawyer did his little magpie thing and gathered up everything he could get his greedy hands on. This included period supplies. Then as time went on, more and more ladies came to him for supplies. And this freaked him out, so he was like "oh fuck this" and literally threw the bag of bleedy supplies into Jack's arms. And from then on, it's Jack who's in charge of that. And he's entirely not weird about it, because he's a fucking surgeon

I don't care what goes on in reality, I choose to believe that a man who has literally had his giant hands in people's spine pasta, wouldn't be too bothered by the fact that vaginas expel meat pulp

The first 4 seasons covers 3 and a half months so thats about three periods for every uterus having person on the island. However! There are varying circumstances at play here!

Let's go thru this, character by character:

Shannon: Dies a month and a bit into this, so she had time for one period, maybe two depending on when in the month she has 'em

Claire: She was pregnant until November 20th. So no periods during that time frame. After which, she would have had very heavy post pregnancy bleeding, but not for very long, because the magic of the island would have made her body recover much quicker than regular people. Then she would've continued periods somewhere in december onwards. And for three years she was all on her lonesome but she had access to the survivor's abandoned camp, so she would have used up the last of the bleedy supplies until eventually running out and. free bleeding. Fucking hell

Sun: Got pregnant very early into the survivor's time there. And gave birth after they left. So she had no periods on the island

Kate: Probably had time for a complete three periods, with at least one that she was a little late for

Charlie: Mostly doesn't get periods, like, his are incredibly irregular. This leads to him believe that his T patches make good enough birth control. He is wrong and stupid. So maybe he bled on the island, maybe he didn't. If he did, he would have never in his life asked Sawyer for period supplies. He'll bleed into his crotch socks

Ana Lucia and Libby: Did not have access to the Sawyer and later Jack controlled Period Supplies. Because everything was worse for the tailies. Also I think being shot 4 times in the uterus means Ana Lucia can't get periods anymore. Tho as I typed that I realised the Island could easily fix that. The Island fixed Jin's balls. So there's a thought for ya: Ana Lucia getting periods on the island and being like,,, what the fuck. what the Fuck. cuz that's a literal miracle

Charlotte: Was only on the island for 16 days and I'm gonna be nice and say she wasn't on her period during that time. Because 1. She was bleeding enough and 2. To spare her the indignity of asking for pads from people who don't like her :(

Juliet: Girl lived in a cult commune for 3 years, so she's good. Had time for maybe one period with the losties, and for sure Jack would hold open his jackpack and proudly display the tampies for her

Final notes: Fair to assume Rose is post menopausal. Woe be to Alex when she got her first period, not due to lack of supplies (again, cult commune) but because it made Ben even more insane. Annd finally, pour one out for Danielle Rousseau. 16 x 12 = 192. Give or take

Oh and the dozen or so background ladies of the survivors too. So either there was a lot of supplies or they run out maybe after the second month? I dunno man, either way Sawyer got overwhelmed

Side note: my Mum liked to point out when ladies tummies are bloated in shows because that means the actresses were on their periods (their voices would get a tad whinier too). She did this a lot when we watched LOST. There ain't no rest for the fertile

Tho, if you also wanna be weird and take notice of this, Kate's tummy isn't bloated in season 6 due to period, Evie was literally pregnant

when lost was airing my passtime was literally rewatching episodes multiple times during the week to try and connect dots/develop theories about what was happening. i had a notebook and i would rewatch every episode two or three times before the next one aired, and write down notes kjldsfjkdskd but i can tell you something, it did not save me from being shook AT ALL, the plot twists hit me just as hard anyway 😂 i've never been very good at puzzling out mysteries on tv shows so as much theorising as i did, i was still able to be completely surprised by every single reveal, which i really liked!! also because i'm in australia, the episodes would air here like 6 months after the US for the first few seasons, so i would only talk about it with irl people (this was all pre twitter etc so it was v easy to avoid spoilers online, you simply didn't google the show!) but then once the season was over there was a lost forum that i would go on and i'd catch up on everyone's theories over the season, and spend the break between seasons talking to people and sharing ideas/thoughts about the end-of-season cliffhanger, i honestly miss that lol

work is dead so i'm looking up funko pops for abc's lost on amazon and it looks like they're priced by popularity like merch stores in hong kong which is very funny to me.

anyway here are the prices for the characters, in increasing value:

man in black: $14.94 looks like this is the base funko pop price. understandable, even tho we see him in every season we only see him in this form in season 6. not much to say about him. i suppose he is a guy

jacob: $16.95 not sure why he's more expensive than his brother but i guess we did hear his name a lot more than we heard the man in black's (and we technically never heard his name). still pretty cheap though. maybe this is the base funko pop price?

kate: $29.95 NOW we're getting into the good stuff. sad she's the cheapest of the real main cast but at least she's like double their price so it's totally worth it. my girl. still a funko pop though

jack: $47.95 honestly i thought more people disliked jack than kate but i suppose i should never underestimate the power of #misogyny over protagonist hatred. regardless, i love women and protagonists so this is still kind of a win for me. still would not buy, but would definitely accept as a present, as a protagonist (and thereby a jack) lover.

hurley: $59.70 he should be the most expensive one imo but whatever. objectively the best character on lost so i guess in terms of popularity i'm glad he's on the more expensive side by that virtue. still: not fat enough. still: a funko pop. why: is he holding a chocolate bar.

locke: $74.97 he's not my favorite but i know he's widely loved (and because he's widely loved you'd think more people would get the finale... but i digress...) so i suppose this makes sense. and like, funko pop locke DOES look badass, even for a funko pop. but the reality is that locke is not as badass as he thinks he is. he is a softboi liveblogging his mental breakdown. i personally would not buy him for 75 dollars

sawyer: $78.95 him being the most expensive is both deserving and not a surprise, and yet still 78.95 more than any funko pop deserves to be paid for. but he is a fan favorite and a general audience favorite so i suppose the average person who watches lost and wanted to buy a funko pop would more than likely at least want a funko pop of him. i like the touch of him reading a book, even though it just reminds me of his weird little pacemaker subplot with ben and made him feel guilty about being horny. hmm. actually i suppose that reminder puts a little more value into the funko pop

Enzo from Mafia Madman by Mila Finelli: I just think mafia romances in general are a great vehicle for writing super obsessed, mildly crazy heroes and Enzo is such a great example of that because he wants to break Gia at first (the way Fausto did to him) by kidnapping her and putting her in his yacht cage, but instead man's like, fully chasing her across his yacht and jumping her at every opportunity.

Sevastyan from The Professional by Kresley Cole: This one has a bit of a forbidden obsession aspect; Sevastyan is supposed to deliver Natalie to her mafiya dad in Russia, who is also his boss, but literally watches her masturbate (yes he was stalking her but it was the job) before kidnapping her out of a bathtub, chases her in a Nebraskan cornfield, and has sex with her even before their plane touches down.

Andrew from Sink or Swim by Tessa Bailey: Obsessed with Jiya since they were kids and his fantasies took on a particular flavor, he stays celibate for a number of years because he can't get it up with anyone but her after a certain point. He's also a service top so her wish is literally his command.

James from Rough Rhythm by Tessa Bailey: Shocking that Tessa Bailey uses to write shit like this buuuut James is Lita's band manager and after an initial (rough) sexual encounter when she was homeless and 18, she became a part of the band and James was the one who got her on birth control and kept all guys away from her (to the point of beating up a few??) until they finally have sex again a few years later.

So... over the summer I finally watched Lost.

I can't believe I waited over a decade to watch this show. I used to read all of the recaps in my Entertainment Weekly magazines and was closely following the fan reactions throughout the final season. I remember everyone hating the final episode and I was shocked at that. I actually started the pilot twice within the decade, but it stressed me out so much that I switched to watching something more lighthearted lol. Well, this past summer, my mom and I watched the entire show. And we freakin loved it. (Duh.) (Also EVERYONE IS WRONG AND THE FINALE IS GREAT.)

Here are my thoughts because talking about 2000s television shows is my favorite thing:

I loved all of the characters and can't stand any of the hate I've seen online. THESE PEOPLE WERE GOING THROUGH SOME DEEP TRAUMA, OKAY?! My favorites: 1) Jack 2) Locke 3) Sayid 4) Sun 5) Sawyer

Jack was my favorite from the first episode. People who take on all this excess emotional responsibility are always my favorites (Matt Saracen! Randall Pearson!), but I found it so interesting to watch a character with a savior complex being thrown into a huge crisis. Did he make mistakes? Yes. Was he sometimes toxic and super messy? Obviously. But that made him an even stronger lead character and he, ultimately, was a layered and great deconstruction of the typical "hero" character. Y'ALL JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND JACK SHEPARD.

John Locke. "Walkabout". I don't even need to say more. Okay, yeah I do. He won me over in the previous episode, with him helping find Vincent and letting Michael take the credit. But this episode... I had chills. I was sobbing throughout the final five minutes. The episode got me completely obsessed with the show. John Locke was also a messy character, and he had his good and bad moments, but my God, was his story just so sad. I can't think about his ending because I'll start sobbing all over again.

Also the Jack/John dynamic was one of my favorite parts of the show. Every single one of their scenes was golden. The fact that their final conversation is what pushed John over the edge and made him want to commit suicide, AND THEN John's death and Jack's guilt over everything is what led JACK to want to commit suicide. THE HEARTBREAKING PARALLELS IN THIS SHOW MY GOD.

Okay but in the limited time I've been checking fan reactions, why does Sayid seem to be underrated?! WHY?! He was also one of my favorites from the very beginning and he's pretty much the only one to not let me down. (Okay, season 6 weirdness aside.) WHAT A MAN. If I was on that dang island, I would just be doing whatever Sayid did. Sayid says we should stay? We should stay. Sayid's going with Jack? I'm going with Jack. He was intelligent, thoughtful, strong, had finesse, could do weird things with his legs (not sexual). Yeah, he had the most yiiiikes backstory of being a torturer, but... I'D FOLLOW HIM ANYWHERE.

SUN WAS A QUEEN. She had the most iconic lines. Her takedowns... incredible. I love how at the start she was seen as the most "pure" one on the island, but she also had all these secrets and was lowkey manipulative. (I love how her arc is also the reverse of Jin's, who starts out as the worst, but becomes so sweet and everyone's fave later on. Not saying Sun became a bad person, but her character got darker while Jin's got lighter.) No one talk to me about the sub. NO ONE TALK TO ME ABOUT THE SUB.

Sawyer... first, I loved that he was a reader. Him with his little glasses... some of my favorite moments. I loved that his awfulness didn't go away in an episode. You'd have moments of him showing a deeper, more caring side, then he'd immediately remind you why you couldn't stand him. He was a jerk and didn't really shed that in until, what, season 3? He didn't really make the transition to "hero" until he jumped out of that helicopter though. Anyway, never met a character that hated himself more!!!

I was into the Jack/Kate/Sawyer love triangle for the first season and a half because they all seemed to have respect for each other. Okay, "respect" might not be the right word, but Jack and Sawyer's beef went way deeper than Kate. They never really fought each other over Kate, which was refreshing. The writers definitely dragged the triangle on for way too long, though, and at the detriment of Kate's character. Girl deserved better!!! The show should've focused on how Kate tried to redeem herself by always being there for everyone, but they kept her in love triangle limbo. I thought Kate/Sawyer made sense on the island, but they were ultimately indulging each other's worst traits. Like they bonded because they could relate to their shady pasts, so that was the strength of their relationship. Jack/Kate definitely won me over and I wish we got more happy moments of them off the island. This show could never let these characters have nice things!!!

Sawyer and Juliet... I like in theory. Buttttt I'm not as crazy about them as most fans. I think it's because I live for the build-up in a relationship and we skipped all that with them. I wanted to understand better why they were "it" for each other. But the Incident scenes, OH MY GOD WHY IS THIS SHOW MY NEW COMFORT SHOW WHEN IT IS SO PAINFUL?!

Sun/Jin, Jack/Kate, Desmond/Penny. Those are the ships.

(Okay and crackship is definitely Jack/Sawyer. Those two had CHEMISTRY.)

I love that all I've talked about are the characters. I need to rapid fire add my thoughts: I wish Danielle and Alex had more time. We deserved more scenes of them together. Danielle was a badass and Alex was, too, and their reunion took SOOO long to happen, then it was over. Also Alex lowkey had the saddest story on this show, thinking about her entire life but especially her last hour alive... I can't.

MICHAEL DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER!!! Michael and Walt had one of the most interesting dynamics, but I also loved his interactions with so many other characters, like Jin. I get why they had to write Walt off the show, with the child actor growing so fast, but to do Michael so dirty... WHY?! What he did was the worst (I can't recall anyone else senselessly killing someone in cold blood... no self-defense, just two innocent people), BUT I also felt bad because he was driven to that point by his child being taken from him. I wish the writers didn't have him tell Walt what happened because the way Michael's story ended was heartbreaking. And they should've brought Walt back once they did a time-jump!!! At the very least, they deserved to be in that church at the end.

I love that Ben has done so many awful things, literally committed genocide, and I'm just like, "Ahhhh, I love that funny little man".

Season 1 was definitely my favorite season. I didn't expect so much of it to be focused on the survival aspect... I expected more of the overt mystery elements to be the focus in the first season? But surprisingly, the survival story of the first season was my favorite. I felt like it gave everyone time to bond and they really became a little family. Later they get split up a lot, and the survival elements aren't the same, so I was nostalgic for the first season.

I've written so much and I haven't even talked about the individual seasons. I don't even think I can rank them. Season 1... easy favorite. Season 6... last. But the others all had parts I really liked and didn't like. Like season 2's first half, season 3's back half, and the concepts of seasons 4 and 5 were great (even though I think they could've been executed better in parts). One thing I wish we had was more of the Oceanic 6's time off-island. That was such a huge reveal and change in the story... I wish we saw how they were coping, not just with their lies and leaving everyone behind, but adjusting to "normal" life after being in intense survival mode for 100 days.

important headcanons about dr. martha jones.

she didn't go and call the doctor by " doctor " immediately. it wasn't until the evolution of daleks , when he shouts " no more deaths , not one more , not today ! " and saves laszlo that she starts calling him genuinely as " doctor ". ( there's a few funny moments where he introduces himself as " the doctor " beforehand , and while they're around other people , she'll use " the doctor " only but when they're alone , she uses " mr. john smith ". ).

tom milligan , her fiancé , died during journey's end while saving two kids. it's something that wounds her deeply even if she knows that if she had went through with using the key , he would have died anyways. she doesn't go on for dates until about a year after he's passed , and they tended to be casual anyway. as such , martha and mickey marrying are not canon in the way that canon writes it , but i'm down to ship it !!

after journey's end , martha quits unit , turns down jack's offer to join torchwood , and works in a hospital as an a&e doctor. her work with unit gives her a classified military background , which helps to explain a lot of her military demeanour and no-nonsense attitude within the hospital and sometimes to the staff.

after a bit of awkwardness , she actually thrives in the hospital setting and starts to feel like a doctor again. she still has bad days , but there tends to be more good days now.

it is during a heavy shift in the hospital that ten , about to regenerate , looks at her from afar and they lock eyes. martha turns away first.

semi related to the fifth point , for the most part , jack and mickey both accept that she's out of the alien-fighting business for now and only really call her in for help when they need a more scientific mind rather than back-up.

martha reaches out to everyone who stayed on their earth after journey's end and tries to connect to them as much as possible. ( she already had this with jack already , with their end of the world survivors' club where they drank together at least once a month , but also called each other when they both had nightmares even though neither of them admits it ). she grabs tea with sarah-jane smith every two weeks , she grabs lunch with mickey every two weeks at the very least.

she was told by the doctor over text about what happened to donna and that she shouldn't contact her or see her again , and it breaks her heart twice over. because she doesn't want donna to die , martha doesn't even try to look at her from afar.

martha re-joins unit when kate stewart gives her the pitch , but it takes a while for martha to warm up to the idea. it helps that being head of medical director actually allows her more power and fingers in more pies , so to speak , so she feels in a better place to actually stop unit from doing anything as drastic as the key ever again. especially since it makes her the third highest ranking person in all of unit.

martha keeps herself appraised of all of the unit files for the doctor and maybe cuts things out that feel a bit too personal for her liking. if unit knows about a regeneration or a companion , martha does too. however , she keeps it to names and faces and that's it.

woooo boy. so – i'm doing a little lost season one character recap just to kind of find my footing and determine how i feel about these characters on this latest rewatch. which, also, i think this is my 12th rewatch? that's crazy. anyway, i'm going to go through the list of the characters and kind of talk about how i feel, how my views have differed from my previous watch, etc. warning for opinions 😔 but these will be in no particular order! this will also be under a cut bc it's gonna get long lol !!

jack – the only thing i really want to do right here is rant about how much i dislike this character, how he puts a bad taste in my mouth, how he can be a truly terrible doctor and how his stubbornness and judgement lead to awful, terrible decisions. but i'm not going to completely bash this character, no matter how much i'd like to. despite this, there's no easy way to say it, but i just don't like jack. i think he can be a good guy, and i think there are aspects to him that make him an interesting character, but in season one – for me – his flaws completely outweigh his positives. there is just something about him that makes me so frustrated. i genuinely think it's his attitude, that is, his constant belief that his way is the right way. and i'm always here for a frustrating character, i enjoy someone with flaws, but jack's simply ... fall flat, for me. maybe it's because he's meant to be our main character, and he just has zero charisma in my eyes. i think there are so many other characters that draw me in. jack is just there. and usually he's doing something to piss me off, but not in the fun way, in the “i really fucking hate you” way. and i truly do not like that he refuses to help people sometimes ( sawyer ), or that he brushes them off for being annoying ( sullivan ), or brushes them off because he thinks he's always right ( such as with claire's nightmares ). it puts a bad taste in my mouth fr !!! even him punishing kate for not telling him what she did, when he's the one who told her that he didn't care? make up your fucking mind buddy.

but of course, jack can be a compassionate person. and he does feel guilt for the things he does – like with claire's kidnapping – and i'm glad for that. maybe too much guilt sometimes, but i'm not gonna fault him for that because i always love seeing that in a character. him watching sayid torture sawyer and realizing that this is a bad thing we're doing here – i liked that. it was a bad call. and i truly adore the flashback where he turns his father in for drinking, because i cannot even imagine how difficult that would be, and the betrayal on christian's face ( and the pain on jack's ) is honestly hard to watch. and when sawyer tells jack about meeting christian, and how proud he was of jack, i do find myself tearing up every time lol. it just really kills me. anyway, i'm hoping to god that i like him more in season two because jack isn't a character i want to feel this frustrated with. i don't want to dislike him! i never want to look at a character and say “i hate them please get them off my screen” but that's usually how i feel about jack. and i don't know if it's the writing, or the acting, or jack himself – there's just something about his character i don't like. either way, i'm hoping for better things from him in season two.

kate – oh kate ... perhaps my second least favorite character in this show, right behind jack. i want to like her so badly but there's also something about her that frustrates the hell out of me. i think her infatuation with jack – for no reason, might i add – is annoying. and i hate their chemistry, because there is none. seriously, kate works better with sawyer, works better with sun, than with jack. though i will admit, i really like the plot twist of kate being the prisoner, and i do think it's interesting how much compassion she has for people, even the u.s. marshal, but something about her also unfortunately falls flat for me. she's just not all that intriguing in my eyes, and i really wish she was. i do like she and sayid's friendship, i think it's cute, and i think kate is far more interesting in sawyer's scenes. but i think i'd like her even more if she wasn't soooo heavily paired with a man, always. not even romantically, but i just mean, she's always in scenes with a guy! she always wants a dude's help! like, give her something to do on her own. but, truly, i have nothing more to say about kate, and i may never have more to say on her lol. i don't remember being super impressed with her in season two, but it's been a bit since i watched all of that season, so we'll see!

michael – truly, i do not have any words for why michael would be my favorite character in this season. he's frustrating, quick to blame, doesn't always make the best decisions when it comes to walt ... but that is what makes him so damn intriguing to me. i think it's his relationship with walt that really kills me. it's like, he's this character who wanted to be a father so badly but was never really able to be one. he fought tooth and nail to be able to be walt's dad and it just didn't matter. and then susan dies, brian comes by, and michael's reunited with walt. and he has to figure out how to raise his kid ( who isn't really his kid anymore ) and honor susan and brian at the same time. it's such an insanely devastating situation that i can hardly stand it. people misconstrue michael's intensions so much – like when they say he hates being a father. but i don't think that's true. he just doesn't know how to be one. he was never given the chance to! michael definitely has a bit of a hair-trigger temper, but i genuinely do think it's because of walt – most of the time. and also, michael and jin's friendship after everything that happened between them?? i love it so much. anyway, michael stays being one of my favorite characters in this season, and there's not a scene with him that goes by i don't enjoy. his centric episode nearly destroyed me this watch and i don't think i'm ready for the next one, which i know is coming soon. overall, i just really enjoy how michael has such this surface level look about him, then you look deeper and see who he truly is, what his motivations are, his regrets. he's just a really great character in my eyes. also, i'm not going to talk about walt on his own, just know i adore walt and i wrote a fic about him! so, he's def a fav of mine.

locke – i'm gonna be honest! locke has always been a favorite of mine, i absolutely love his flashbacks and i think he's so much fun to watch on screen. terry o'quinn really carries here, and i'm excited because i know just how great future locke scenes are. but, how do i feel about him in season one? well, i found myself ... being a little more on the bitter side with him! i think i formed an attachment to boone and to witness what leads to his death really hurts. and when locke brings him back and lies about what happened, causing jack to misdiagnose the problem – well, it really sucks to see. and i know boone was supposed to die, but that doesn't change the fact that if i was on that island, i'd be pissed at locke for this. aside from that, i really like his belief in the island and those intertwining themes of fate and destiny ... he just brings something that the show really needs. i will never get over this man having been in a wheelchair and walkabout still makes me cry to this day. and being conned out of a kidney? phewwww that's a tough one for me to watch. i love the scene where locke bangs on the hatch and the light beams up – it's so great. but, boone's death really hurt my opinion of locke in season one, but i'm sure this'll improve with time ( until season 4 🙄 ). anyway, the ending of this season really teases the jack and locke dynamic – man of science and man of faith ... they're so fun to watch and i can't wait to see them interact more in s2. but locke in season one is great, up until the moment he isn't. but he grew on me in the finale. his acting is so good i can't not like him, lol.

sayid – well, i suppose i might as well get it over with. so, i've never been much of a sayid stan ... i try, let me tell you, but the feeling just never comes. my opinion of him has been pretty consistent throughout my time watching this show, but i think he's mostly good in season one. and i'm not saying he's a bad character or anything, i simply find his flashbacks to be boring and i have no attachment to nadia as a whole. and i think that him torturing sawyer was awful! but obviously i'm not really here to judge characters based on how terrible of people they are ( look at my fav ... ), obviously these characters have flaws and are not always great people. my “meh” feeling toward him more so has to do with the fact that he falls a little flat, too. at least for me, he does. and i know people love him! i've just never felt much of a connection to him, and i'm not sure i ever will. let's just say, i don't watch this show for him.

charlie – charlie is definitely one of the highlights of this season. drug addict characters always, always draw me in, and i think his personality is just so great. he's definitely on the funnier side, but then we get to his backstory and you see just how fucked up things got for him! i love that he goes to the cockpit only to find his drugs – and i love seeing his notion that he's a coward, that really gets swept away come episode seven. i know, i know. people don't like the moth metaphor. but i've always had a soft spot for it, and i think the combination of acting and writing really brings that scene to life. i adore charlie and claire's relationship and they're just ): so cute. so when they get kidnapped ?!? god damn that angst is so juicy. but anyway, i've always been a fan of charlie's character and that hasn't changed one bit. i can't really remember how prevalent he is in s2 ( aside from fire + water ) but i very much look forward to seeing more of him and what he gets up to. i feel like i have less to say here bc ... idk! he's just a silly guy! i like him a lot, always have, and i don't see that ever changing.

claire – you know, i've never had much of an opinion on claire. she's always kind of just ... been there for me. however, i think because elsie likes her so much, it's really improved my view of her. claire is just so sweet and i can't imagine the terror of being pregnant on a fucking deserted island. she handles it much better than i would've, lol. but her pain and fear is definitely hard to see, and made even more difficult because of jack not believing her 🙄 which, of course. but i really like the ethan plotline and i like the little seeds they plant for s2 – such as showing that small flashback between rousseau and claire in the finale. we still don't know what happened to her! i will admit, i don't have a whole lot more to say here, but i think she's a fun character and i like the stuff they play with concerning the psychic. that's really all!

sawyer – sawyer!!! this man has always been one of my favorite characters and he's forever managed to crack me up... i just think he's hilarious, definitely one of the funniest characters on the show. even in the pilot, when kate asks where the polar bear came from and he says, "probably bear village, how the hell do i know?" i laugh every time. ANYWAY! i definitely thought sawyer was going to be more of an acquired taste this season, which, he is, but he really shines pretty early on. i expected to hate confidence man more, because i've never really liked that episode when watching alone, but it turns out i ... really enjoyed it this time around? i thought it was the perfect blend of realistic and horrific and it was a great way to stir up tension, especially between sawyer and sayid. everyone always assumes the worst of sawyer and they truly don't even bother asking him – they just blame him, which makes him mad ( as it would anyone ), and then he acts like an asshole in turn. he's backed into a corner and it's kind of fascinating to watch and see what he does, how he reacts, etc. and maybe i'm crazy, but i don't see having your own supplies as a ... necessarily bad thing? so many characters accuse him of looting from the dead, but it's not like he's the only one that's done that. and we're shown that in truly life threatening situations ( such as boone ) he's quick to help. i also love his relationship with michael and, by extension, jin, and him being a part of the raft is just so fun. truly, i think sawyer is just so interesting, and i'm very excited to see more of him in season two.

boone – ohhhhh boone. this man is someone i've always had a love / hate relationship with, but at the end of the day, he won my heart over. he's always been someone that wants to help sooo badly ( such as trying to give rose cpr ) and even if that doesn't exactly pan out, he still cares to try. his relationship with shannon is .... odd, to say the least, but i do enjoy most of their interactions. i think boone definitely projects his feelings on to shannon, like calling her useless and worthless, which is probably why he tries to help out as much as he does. and when he and locke find the hatch, this kind of gives him a new purpose, and so does locke. so it's devastating to see boone be convinced to follow locke out to this plane, and you can see that the only thing he wants to do is help. it just!! pains something deep inside of me. even when he's in the plane, it falls because he's trying to get everyone rescued – and i think that's how he deserves to be remembered. i do think his death hits so hard, and while the episode definitely prepares you for it, it's not easy to watch it play out. i love the scene where locke sees boone in his dream, when he's talking about his babysitter, and you see the flashes of him covered in blood. it's really trippy and foreboding and just ... so well done! i love the idea that boone's death majorly effects everything and everyone, not only in this season but in the seasons that follow, and it's nice that the show never forgets about him. i just really like his character and, though i'm sad to see him go, i know it's necessary.

shannon – surprisingly? shannon was one of the most enjoyable characters on this rewatch for me. i never thought much of her before, felt like she was a little annoying, but i genuinely liked her this season and i thought she was hilarious. i'm a little disappointed we didn't get a shannon flashback, but i know we will in season two, so i look forward to that. her grief for boone really fucking pains me and when walt gives vincent to her ... man. that scene hurts. i don't love she and sayid's relationship, to be completely honest, but i really like the scene where she tells him off for getting frustrated with her about the map. i still have mixed feelings about her going after locke after boone's death, but maybe it'll make more sense to me on another rewatch lol. anyway! not too much to say about her, except i enjoyed her presence ( a lot ) and that was a little surprising for me.

sun & jin – i'm combining these two into one, not only because i think they're important to talk about together, but also because i'm feeling a little lazy. anywho, i think it's really fun how the show makes jin out to be a pretty awful guy, but once you see his backstory – see his motivations, his fears – it starts to make a lot of sense. it's funny because jin is definitely one of my favorite characters, but it's pretty hard to like him at first. so i really enjoy his development in the first season, and his friendship with michael is really sweet. as for sun, i do like her! she's another character that's always just been kind of there, but i enjoyed her a lot more on this rewatch. her goodbye to jin before the raft leaves absolutely gutted me. the acting there was phenomenal. and i think it's really special we got these two characters because yunjin kim was so impressive when they were casting. it's upsetting to see these two characters who don't speak english, who are pretty much completely isolated because of this language barrier, but then sun speaks english?! the little twist there is just so great. her weird relationship with michael also isn't my favorite thing. i just really love sun and jin's relationship and how much it develops – they're probably my favorite couple on this show, tbh. and i know kate was behind a lot of the poisoning jin thing, but when jack tells sun he knows it was her, and she says, "are you going to tell the others?" that just BROKE me!! the fear and pain in her voice. ugh. she just wanted to keep him safe and off the raft. also, jin's dad is so sweet and i really love that scene between them in the flashback. and when sun is about to leave jin at the airport and he shows her the flower – god, that makes me cry every time. like full on sobbing. it's so good and their acting and chemistry is just amazing. anyway, i don't have too much more to say on them, but i adore sun and jin so much!!! definitely one of the highlights of this season.

hurley – i feel like it's a little hard for me to say much on hurley, mostly because we don't get toooo much development with him this season. like, we get one flashback but that's really it! so i'm excited to see more of him in season two for sure. but anyway, he's one of the funniest characters on this show and i love his interactions with literally everyone. and there is not one scene with him that i don't like. the numbers are probably my favorite part of this show, and i love his flashback about the curse and winning the lottery and all that. it's just great. and for rousseau to be the one person who tells him that maybe there is a curse? and that she doesn't dismiss what he's saying? it's so euphoric for him, and i love seeing it every time. hurley's friendship with charlie is also great – i just love those two. his flashbacks, alongside locke's, have always been my favorites and i just ... wanna see more of his character and past! he's just such a memorable character, and one of the first i think of when i reminisce about this show.

honorable mentions :

ethan – scary as fuck. this guy has always creeped me out, and the fact that he's tom cruise's cousin will never not be hilarious to me. he definitely scared the shit out of me as a kid and even still gives me the creeps. it's hilarious that the characters, especially charlie, start referring to him as a "what" rather than a "who." i love it. death was deserved, this man wouldn't have said shit.

sullivan – we were just calling him john lennon because we didn't know his name. his rash was a little concerning and jack brushing him off was annoying to me. and when he comes to the golf course and says "can i play?" i just love that scene. where did sullivan go ... 😔

scott & steve – i don't really know the difference between them, but rip scott. he deserved better.

arzt – probably one of my favorite side characters. he's so funny to me, and when he gets blown up i just ... bust out laughing every time. cannot wait to see this idiot again in s3 and s6.

Cat and Harley sat there staring at the Stark tech, both with the same frown.

"What now?"

The young man looked at her with incredulity. "Call Spider-man!"

"So he calls me a thief?" Cat scoffed. "No, thank you!"

"If you tell him about the girl—"

"He'll say I 'endangered' a child."

"Why do you use quotations there?" Harley scowled at her. "You did."

"The chipmunk stayed as a lookout while I did all the heavy lifting. I'm a responsible adult."

"No one buys that."

"That's not the point," Cat waved a hand dismissively. "We have this and my blaster, but we can't use them any time soon."

"Because Damage Control will know you did it, or they'll go after the girl again."

"I don't think Damage Control is the bad guy here," she said pensively, her index finger above her upper lip, "they're the fastest way to hear about the possible new mutants in the city, and Deever was informing someone else and trying to get them... for testing or slavery. I expect."

"There's something that's been bothering me since you told me what Kingpin said to you," Harley put the sunglasses away.

"What is it?"

"Smerdyakov told him about you?" He raised a brow. "It doesn't add up."

"What do you mean?"

"The Chameleon spent years not knowing what you could do after you escaped, you left the lab before recovering properly, right?"

"That's what Kurt's told me."

"So there's no way he would've known that you could mimic without touching, or teleport, or any of that. All of that you developed after you killed him."

"You're right," Cat frowned. "You think Fisk was lying?"

"Kingpin is no liar. He's a manipulator, but he never lies, that's what Matt says. And either way, how could he know Dmitri was the one who caught you the first time?"

She shook her head. "Well, Russo has been on the lookout for me, and that was years after I blew up the labs... Sharon found out about me after she got reinstated... so maybe Nat had added the full background to my files when I was in space?" Her phone buzzed, it was Kate. "Hang on— Hi, princess, what do you need?"

"You haven't forgotten, right?"

Cat glanced at the calendar on Harley's desk. She was blank. "No?"

"Really?"

The young woman looked at his friend for help, Harley rolled his eyes and mouthed:

"Graduation!"

"You're graduating next week!"

"That's right! You guys are coming?"

"Harley might be busy, but Kurt will definitely make space for you! He's been dying to meet Jack anyway, wants to ask about his fencing techniques and whatnot."

"What about you?"

Cat silently begged Harley for help. Her friend only gave her a stern look as a reply.

"Have you told your mother?"

Kate sighed, unimpressed by her answer."She knows I'm graduating."

"But did you—"

"She can't come, Cat."

"Kate..."

"I've had enough of her 'how are you gonna make a living'. I only want my friends and you with me that day."

My friends and you, she'd said. The mutant sighed. "It's your life..."

"Damn right," Kate stated. "Gotta go. I hope to see you there, Cat."

"Take care."

She hung up and looked at Harley. "Girlfriends, am I right?"

"Oh, don't say that word like you mean it in one way, when I know you're dying to use it for real," he rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I'll try to go, but we should get the Pest under control before that, and you should give those glasses to—"

"One problem at a time, Junior," Cat interrupted him. "In the meantime—" her phone began to ring again and she answered. "You fell and can't get up?"

"Sharon's been arrested," Bucky informed her. "We're questioning every person she had business with, turns out she's been giving away intel and weaponry like they're Halloween candy. Good job, kid."

"You should know better than to think I did it out of selflessness," Cat replied.

"Oh I don't think that, I just have manners," he scoffed.

"Well, I'll be perfectly lovely once you've done this one favor for me."

"What is it?"

"I think Sharon revealed my identity to a couple of people I rather not meet in this life."

"You want me to what, take care of 'em?"

"Would you do that for me?"

"I'm not your hitman," Bucky stated.

"Then don't offer it, asshole, I wasn't going to ask that anyway," Cat scowled. "Someone's been trying to hunt down the mutants in my area, so I want names and I want them soon."

"How do you know it's just the mutants?"

"Because Spider-man's still out there and so is Daredevil. If this was about heroes, they would've been pestered and I would've heard from them already."

"I'll see what I can get you."

"Thanks. See? I can be polite too."

Bucky hung up and she sighed, pushing her curls back.

"Mouse."

"I'm here."

"We need Agent Deever's files," Harley got up and walked up to the door, opening it for her. "I need to know what she's up to."

"Why on earth would you bring that?"

"I didn't bring it! Jack gave it to me just now and I have nowhere to put it!" Kurt held onto the sword.

"Teleport that thing to your house!" Harley scolded him. "They'll kick you out of the ceremony if you have that with you!"

"Fine!" Nightcrawler vanished in a cloud of smoke only to come back two seconds later. "You guys suck."

"Why is Jack giving you swords?"

"We practice fencing on the weekends and he's got too many so he's giving me some."

"That only leaves me with more questions," said Harley.

"Guys! Guys!" Kate had her gown on and the hat tucked under one arm. Jack was right behind her. "I'm so glad you could make it!"

The sight of her in the gown made Cat feel proud, for some reason. She hadn't been there to see her struggle through college, of course, but she reminded her of the time when Pietro graduated from high school. It'd been a couple of tough months. She was happy to see her friends getting the things they most wanted.

Cat took off her sunglasses and opened her arms for a hug. "How ya doing, pretty?"

Kate hugged her briefly before looking at her with a giddy smile. "Guess who's here?"

The mutant tilted her head, not sure of wanting to be right. "Him?"

"The whole family."

"Wow, so it wasn't just holiday syndrome?" Cat joked.

"That is not a real thing and you know it— hi Harley! Hi, Kurt!"

The boys congratulated her. Jack and Kurt quickly engaged in conversation while Harley, Kate, and Cat walked to their seats. Clint looked at the group and smiled amicably.

"If it isn't the heathen!"

"Hi, Pidgeon," Cat greeted the rest of his family. "Hi, everyone."

"Mr. Barton, a pleasure to meet you," Harley reached to shake hands.

"You're Stark's prodigy?" Barton eyed him with interest. "Heard you're almost as bright as Tony."

"Not even close."

"He's being modest," Cat patted his back.

"Okay, so you guys take a seat, the ceremony's about to start!" Kate said. "Cat, can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Oh?"

The young woman moved away from the rest.

"How's the plan going?"

"We still need some stuff."

"What about Kingpin?"

"He's still in jail and not talking."

"Okay, well, as soon as I'm able I'll help you out—"

"You don't have to."

"No no no, it'll be good for my work experience," Kate insisted.

Cat snorted. "You're still set on becoming a detective?"

"I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but your case is mindblowing and I'd love to stalk people for you."

"What an honor," she laughed. "Get your degree first, then we can talk about stalking."

Kate smiled at her before rushing back to the front, Cat went back to her seat between Clint and Harley, and the younger man nudged her arm.

"Everything okay?"

Cat opened her mouth to answer, she was about to reply, when she stopped and took an actual second to take it all in. She was with her best friends, one of her old mentors, and life was... moving.

She was stressed, she was sleeping little and waking abruptly every morning, but right at that moment, she was alright. Cat had to appreciate the little moments, just like Harley had advised her to.

"I'm happy for Kate," she admitted. "Looking forward to the party."

"Why? You don't even drink!"

She elbowed him playfully. "If there is one person on this earth that can have fun without alcohol, that's me."

"Debatable," Kurt replied from his seat.

"Shut up, Smurf."

"You know, Happy, just because I have strong arms doesn't mean you have to leave most of the shopping bags to me."

"You offered to help me!"

"I think you're taking revenge for all those years Tony did this to you," she left all the bags on the table. "Man, you buy too much food for someone who lives alone..."

"I like cooking for Morgan on the weekends, she eats a lot."

"Well, she's growing," Cat sighed. "Can you believe she's almost ten?"

"C'mon, we still have two years before that happens!"

"No wonder Pepper's retiring next year, time moves so fast..."

Happy looked at her beaming. "Just have to look at you to know it. You'll be what, twenty-four next October?"

Cat glanced at him. "Twenty-five."

"A whole decade since we met!" Happy said. "Do you remember how anxious you were about your clothes?" He pointed at her sunglasses and her battered jacket.

She laughed. "I have more pressing issues now, I fear. Sometimes I miss it, y'know? My worst enemy: other teenagers..."

"They were my biggest fear too, especially boys," he made a face. "You remember when I took you to some kid's house so he could help you study?"

"No," Cat blinked. "You did that?"

"Yeah! I remember being stressed the hell out about it."

"I have no memory of that," she smirked. "I put you through a lot, huh?"

"In the end, it was all worth it, you're my kid."

Cat patted his shoulder. "You're getting increasingly sappier as time goes on, old man. You gotta watch that or I'll catch you crying over a Hallmark movie next!"

Kate placed her stuff right next to the door. She looked around admiringly.

"I feel like I owe Jack my life right now," she sighed. "He restored everything! Look! I have an AC!"

Cat lingered at the threshold, Kate looked around for a little longer, then turned to her and smiled... but she didn't. The mutant was suddenly aware of a third presence. Cat looked away clearing her throat.

"I'll head to work."

"Oh."

"See you later."

Without waiting for a reply she closed the door. Looking to both sides of the hall she saw no one was there. She was sure she'd heard something though, Cat put on her sunglasses and walked out of the building.

As she walked down the street she felt it again. Cat looked for a place where she could corner this stranger, but nothing was useful, there were too many people around. She teleported at the first chance she got.

"Harley, I think someone—"

"There you are!" He was strangely enthusiastic. "You did it!"

"I... what?"

"Agent Deever!" Harley approached holding his tablet. "Sam and Bucky followed her into this building near New Jersey— it was a subterranean lab!"

Cat felt her blood run cold. "Were there any... any mutants?"

"No, it looked brand new. Bucky and Sam are looking into it but it seems there were no mutants in there yet."

"I should go see if I recognize any of the workers... I should call Miss Marvel..."

"It's not necessary, Cat. They confessed."

"What?"

"They confessed."

"Why?" Cat asked in annoyance. "This sounds wrong."

"You're just used to things not ending unless you blow something— or someone up."

Cat hesitated. "I... I don't know. They said why are they hunting mutants?"

Harley's expression darkened. "Not really. But Sam's going to question Sharon again, see if he can get something new—"

The young woman stared down at the tablet. "Sharon didn't do this."

"How do you know? She was the one with all the resources!"

"Yeah exactly, she even knew about me," Cat replied. "So if she really wanted a servant that badly, all she had to do was give me a call threatening to take you, or Kate, or even Yelena! This is not right, Harley."

"Perhaps she saw you working with Hawkeye and thought you'd be harder to convince now," Harley grabbed his tablet and tapped some things into it. "Guess what? One investor was found at the lab, he was supervising the whole thing."

He tapped on the screen and Mr. Harper's face projected in the middle of the desk.

"His wrinkly ass was angry because Pepper found you first, just like you said."

Cat looked at it in mild surprise. "Well, he won't be missed."

"You don't look happy," he pointed out. "What's going on?"

She wasn't sure, but it felt like there was a huge chunk of the story missing.

"Why mutants?" She insisted, shaking her head. "L.A. is packed with supers begging to be hired— why go through all this trouble? It's like they're trying to get a specific type of hero..."

Harley shrugged. "If I had to give a reason... considering how these men think, I'd say is because they tend to be outcasts. L.A. is packed with supers who have a roof over their heads, but mutants... they're considered freaks, most of them have tough lives, so it's easier to force them to obey without having to pay them."

Cat shook her head again. "This is almost a perfect reflection of how Dmitri's lab started, a stunt like this one takes so much time and money, it couldn't have been made so quickly and by someone who's on their first try..." Cat's insides twisted in dread, a memory jumped out of the back of her mind. "Sergei."

Before Harley could ask what she meant, her phone rang.

"H-Hello?" She answered.

"We got the creeps," Bucky told her. "Most of these weirdos are De Fontaine's old contacts from her time at Hydra, but she didn't build this place, and neither did Sharon. They got hired by a man, and they say he employed a 'mutant hunter' to bring their patients—"

"The guy that f-found us the first t-time," Cat said. "But we didn't call him a mutant hunter then."

"You know this guy?"

"Yes," Cat felt like throwing up. "He trained me."
