A Steddie fanfiction. Rated E. 84k.

April 1986

“How’re you feeling, Ed?” Steve asks quietly, preserving the stillness of the night that surrounds them.

“Think I’m alright, a little tired.” Eddie watches the gentle waves that ripple out from his shins kicking softly in the water. It’s been a long day, even he has to admit that, and he’s feeling… well, that’s the end of the sentence. He’s feeling.

It’s the first time Eddie’s been around everyone all at once since the Upside Down and the kids, they mean well and he knows that, surrounded him with so much love that it’d become overwhelming. So had sitting upright, walking around, talking. The last hour or so, he’d gone ghost— transparent without actually disappearing— and the others followed his lead. Pretend you’ve vanished hard enough and the people around will you pretend, too. Except for Steve, he discovers.

It’s an odd thing though, preferring to be still, to be quiet, and he hates that the Upside Down has stolen this piece of himself, too. Steve’s assured him that it’s okay, that he’ll be his boisterous, loud, antsy self again when his body’s healed but it’s taking too long for Eddie’s liking. Or comfort.

“You know it's normal, right? It’s a lot, Ed. You didn’t even have to stay out here the whole time, no one would’ve minded or blamed you.” Steve sits next to him, letting his feet slide in beside Eddie’s. Everyone else is inside— kids, parents, everyone who’s made the Harrington House their base while waiting for the government pay-outs and new homes. It’s late now, but Steve and Eddie take advantage of the silence as they so often do.

“Yeah, yeah I know. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

Steve nods and lets his pinky touch the edge of Eddie’s, palm down on the cold, wet concrete.

“You don’t, you’re right. I didn’t either. For what it’s worth though,” Steve takes a breath, thinks about how he wants to word this without making a confession he’s not yet ready for, “I like every version of you.”

Eddie’s heart pounds in his chest and he watches the ripples from Steve’s legs blend into his. Huh, he thinks, something symbolic there.

He doesn’t respond, just wraps his pinky around Steve’s.

New hints (and questions) about Nightbringer

Finally! We have some clues about NB, I'm so excited! We finally have an idea of what to expect. Yet I still have so many doubts. But that's only natural, we're still missing on so much information ;; I simply want to share my thoughts about Nightbringer at the moment.

First, I'd like to mention the objective facts we know about the game:

We're our good old sheep MC.

We've travelled to the past, and we need to "reforge our bonds and pacts with the seven brothers"

Honestly, I'm happy the game is not just a prequel and we get to keep our MC. Still, time traveling is a choice. So, knowing this, what personally intrigues me the most are the questions that have arised from the possibilities when it comes to going to the past and meeting the demons there.

I'll try to point out my main questions and theorize a bit, but this is only with the little info we've been given.

We've travelled by Barbatos' magic, so at least he and Diavolo should know we're going to the past. Right?

Do the brothers know? The lines "Don't worry, you'll be fine. After all, we are..." and then "My love for you trascends time" (in Japanese, "No matter how many times we meet you, we'll fall in love with you") seem to be from the brothers POV. The first line gives me the impression they know what our mission is and are basically wishing us good luck and trusting in us, for us to... "save" them, maybe? There has to be a reason we're doing all of this.

About that, why are we doing this? Are we being sent with us knowing what's going on? Or we just wake up and surprise! You're in the past! (double isekai lmao) I hope it's some kind of "mission" we are well aware of.

How will time traveling be explained this time? (In case it will be explained because let's face it, we know OM is not the most rigorous when it comes to it, lol) The brothers will meet us in the past, so are we going to be presenting as ourselves? Or as some random human? You know, like we pretended to be a random angel in the Celestial Realm? After all is done, will they remember the events from the past? Will they know it was us? You know, as in sheep MC? Are their memories going to be "rewritten" and, once we're back, they'll know what happened and know MC loved them in the present and the past? I just... I just don't know. (But I kinda like the latter, it sounds romantic)

All of their lines in the webpage show some kind of emotion related to their fall, in their own way. But at least something that is common to all of them is pain. About each of them:

Lucifer seems to feel guilty or responsible for their fall; Mammon seems accepting of his (and their) fate, Leviathan seems terrified of his fate; Satan, being a new entity, is annoyed by his existence in this reality and his new brothers; Asmodeus is in denial; Beelzebub's one is intriguing, because it points to a secret more then his feelings regarding the fall, but I'd say there's something about the fall or the war he knows and feels guilty about hiding; and Belphegor is thinking about punishment and consequences of their actions, could it be indifference? or a quiet fear?

What kind of dynamics will we have with these recently turned demons? Are we going to have our beloved, dangerous interactions such as the ones we got on Halloween 2021? Or early lessons? (I really, really hope so)

But more than anything, regarding the reasons of our travelling... What happened that needs us to travel and bond with them in their past selves? Are they in some kind of danger? Did some kind of event trigger a reaction from them, becoming distant with us (ahhh yes, angst) and we need to unravel their past? I like the idea of MC getting to know their backstories and ending up with this idea of "I'll love him even after all he's done as a demon".

And that's why I like this concept of "My love for you trascends time" because it can be both ways. They'll love us no matter in what time or form we meet, but also they trust us to keep loving them even though it's a difficult, dangerous love.

And yes, the Japanese one is slightly different but I also like how that one is only directed from the demons to us. Even if it's in an alternative universe, the past, not knowing us, our bond and connection is so strong it's certain they'll fall in love with us.

Man, I'm getting the feels from this teaser. I can't wait to see what kind of angst, tragic backstories and dramatic romance we'll get to experience.

And by the way! On March 24th, the song from the opening will be released, "Devil's Way". From the unofficial lyrics I've seen, they do mention the little sheep and to not be afraid, so I wonder what kind of information we'll get from the full lyrics 🕺

Little Nightmares III, huh???

I was trying to avoid being excited about it because no solid release date and 2024 could be a few months from now or a year from now and Idk how long I can handle being so fuckin hyped for this game YEEHAW

BUT I CAN'T, I KEEP THINKING ABT THE GAME AAHAHHGAGA

so here are my thoughts, if you wanted to know

FIRST OF ALL, i am so glad that after we saw LTNM II we thought it'd be co-op but it was just an AI, that we finally get co-op! AND ONLINE TOO, i spent the first day worried it'd be shared screen same room situation since i wasn't trying to get my hopes up but then I realised I can just.. google it.. AND IT IS!!! ONLINE!! IDK WHO I AM GONNA PLAY IT W FIRST AAAAAAAA

anyways, you can definitely tell it's a new studio working on this game, the world feels mostly the same but the character designs themselves are definitely stylistically similar, but not the same. With Six especially, the MC designs were very simplistic and realistic but used colour (or for Mono, a single design quirk being the bag) to stand out against their backgrounds and against the enemies which are largely neutral colours. But these new ones feel... "over designed"? On their own they definitely aren't, but in comparison to Mono, Six, Seven, and even NPCs like the flashlight girl, they have a lot more going on (especially the little wrench kid, Idk which one is Alone and which one is Low yet btw OOP)

Despite it being a new studio and you can tell, new puzzles and environments, they're still doing their best to have the OGs vibes and whatnot to feel familiar, namely in the trailer they bring back the fuses, and the additional gameplay video there's a short scene with an environment with all the shelves you can find in LTNM 1s gnome section (the one with the cart that is affected by the Maws swaying).

But regardless, it still feels different enough my brain is still nervous about it. I also feel In A Way about Tarsier having LTNM II explode and their franchise getting the attention it deserves, only to have it stuck with Bandai and now it's going to likely explode again and they aren't involved. Idk how anyone on that team feels about it, but if it were me omg.

Also the only boss we've seen so far (i hope they add more and i def want some to be a surprise so im not gonna assume this is the only one for now) feels... out of place? it has the design qualities of a LTNM boss, but the size of it makes it more of a spectacle than a warped/corruption of an adult. All the previous bosses fit in their environment, we are the small ones and they are scaled to the world around them. This is the first time, outside monster Six who imo is a bit of an outlier anyways due to her circumstances, we're getting a boss who is this huge and doesn't even fit their own environment. I hope we get a lore reason for this in some way, because currently the boss doesn't have the same vibe as the others and it's throwing me off a bit. Don't get me wrong, it'll be terrifying, but looking at the picture as a whole they are sort of out of place for me rn. I don't hate the bitch either, I'm not gonna be like omg get rid of it or change it, but it does strike me as odd seeing it for now.

And yes the tall man is too tall for a lot of things, but he's not THAT big. He's more like yer tall guy who hits his head off doorways, which happens irl anyways LMAO

Little Nightmares primarily tries to capture the feeling of being a small child and how everything is big and scary, but a doll that huge is out of the realm of reality set up for us already. It's gone from scary corrupted animal to godzilla, if that makes sense.

OH AND THE MIRRORS ARE VERY LTNM COMICS OF THEM TEE HEE < 3

#while i find the MCs designs to be a bit much for now they're fast growing on me as characters #they give me indie movie vibes more than little nightmares MCs vibes #but hey if we get a 4th installment then it goes from an outlier to part of a trend #my brain will get over it eventually anyways these are just my initial thoughts #oh and as long as they either dont bring back the flashlight or change its controls im mostly fine w the puzzles and whatnot #like suuuuuper minor gripe but i loved in the first games that when you had a weapon it was too big and too heavy #they had serious weight when you swung them and the mcs clearly struggled #and it really helped you feel powerless even when armed #i know the masked kid has a slingshot btw but i just hope it isnt used as an easy weapon and more as a distraction #having any kind of upper hand in this world sort of diminishes the initial scare factor they were going for #being that youre a small child helpless in this world #outside sixs ending but aside from the hallway you literally dont play w her power at the end #text #long post #little nightmares 3 #ltnm 3 #ooc

best friend!hyojin who instantly becomes so close with you because of your shared interests. he loves to geek over food and video games and singing and space with you and he could never imagine he'd meet someone who loved all the same things as he did. you two get sucked into long discussions that last 2 hours, and then 4 hours, and then 6 hours, because neither of you wants to end it early. despite his busy schedule as a trainee, he always finds time to text you during breaks, and you're his biggest supporter until he finally can debut.

best friend!hyojin who never noticed just how beautiful you were until a couple months into your friendship where he finds himself spacing out just staring at you. he loves the way the light shines on your skin, warming it into the prettiest shade ever. he loves how your eyes sparkle in delight whenever he suggests you both get something to eat-- a habit you both share for your love of food. he loves how immersed you get in conversation, completely unable to stop talking once you've started conversing about one of your obsessions. not that he would ever want you to stop.

best friend!hyojin who is obsessed with your voice. whether it's when you're explaining something so animatedly, or the little sounds of delight you make when eating something delicious, or how sincere you sound whenever you are faced with a heavy topic. he loves how you can be lighthearted and fun when it's allowed, but also serious and mature when needed. and he loves that you're not too serious, but a perfect balance between both, always matching his energy and love for laughter and teasing.

best friend!hyojin who the members tease relentlessly because of how often he talks about you. they all (especially seungjun) are convinced that he has a crush on you and will never let him hear the end of it. hyojin himself doesn't deny the fact, but he can't bring himself to verbally say it out loud, whether to his bandmates or to you. he doesn't want to ruin what you two already have, regardless of the way his feelings for you keep growing every day.

best friend!hyojin who's mind practically shuts down when you mumble out how much you've loved him for months while drunk. he had been trying to get you to bed safely, all while listening to your intoxicated rambling about different topics. you switched from aliens to barbecue to how much you hated your college classes to your feelings. hyojin has no idea what he's supposed to do with how fast his heart is pounding, or how he'll ever face the consequences of the conversation in the morning when your head is clear.

best friend!hyojin who brings up the topic carefully and a bit timidly, absolutely terrified that whatever you said after 3 rounds of drinks was entirely the opposite of how you felt sober. when you bashfully confess that yes you had meant everything you said when drunk, hyojin can barely process the information.

boyfriend!hyojin who asks you to be his girlfriend after taking you out to get your favourite food because he knows that's the only way he'd ever want someone to ask to date him. he smiles so fondly at you when you accept his offer, excitement and a little impatience for what the future will hold, but he's not scared of a thing because he knows he has someone who he loves wholeheartedly by his side now.

boyfriend!hyojin who's love language continues to be similar as when he was just your best friend. he loves long conversations and hours playing video games or trying new foods together. when you're both painfully full from delicious food, you'll curl up together and watch him play mario kart; something that yuto had especially gotten him interested in recently. hyojin complains whenever you distract him with a cheek kiss and make him crash, but he secretly loves how much you love to distract him.

boyfriend!hyojin who invites you to the recording studio with him to watch as he records an album. after every take, he always asks for your opinion, even though in your mind every single time he sings anything it sounds like the most angelic thing you've ever heard. you could absolutely never get tired of hearing his heavenly vocals, and he has to get used to you asking him to sing for you almost every day. he doesn't mind, though; he could never mind when it's you asking for something. unless you're asking for his food-- that's where he has to draw the line. even if you are his girlfriend.

boyfriend!hyojin who always has to hear your daily concerns about his scalp health. after the third time he had sported bright red hair, you had started to get worried about him permanently damaging his scalp. and while you still love the look on him, you're quick to research helpful hair products for him to use. on days when he's absolutely too tired from practice to do almost anything, you always offer to wash his hair for him, giving him a head massage which turns into a neck massage which turns into a full back massage all because his body is so sore and worn out and you hate to see him in any type of pain.

boyfriend!hyojin who always plans dates even when his schedule is a bit more packed than usual. you're not sure how he's able to balance everything all at once, but he does it seamlessly, and it becomes one of the many many things you adore about him. he always does his best to text you every day, just to see how you're doing. even when he comes back home so late that you're already asleep, and leaves early before you're awake, he'll leave sticky notes around the room for you to find when you wake up or a good morning text reminding you that he loves you.

boyfriend!hyojin who has been keeping a ring that he had bought months ago hidden in his bedside table drawer, pondering over when the right time to give it to you was. he's confident that you'll say yes, but he wants to try to make the moment as romantic as possible, just to show you how much you mean to him. he asks seungjun (who self-proclaimed he was an expert at love despite being single) how he should go about it, and starts to plan out the whole proposal a few weeks in advance.

fiancé!hyojin who's new obsession is calling you his wife even though you've barely started planning for the wedding. every time he sees the ring on your finger, he feels so thankful to have met you and be able to call you his, and although he was already romantic as your boyfriend, he becomes even more so as your fiancé.

fiancé!hyojin who helps plan the wedding with you, wanting to be involved in every aspect of it but still allowing you to choose almost everything from the venue to the flowers to the decor. he gives his opinions on wedding dresses before sending you off with your bridal party to pick one without him knowing. he's determined that he will not see you in a white dress until you're walking down the aisle towards him-- a moment he's dreamed of since he first became your boyfriend.

fiancé!hyojin who can't contain the amount of love he has for you when he sees you walking down the aisle. the dress is gorgeous, but it's nothing compared to your beauty and he tears up watching you with the biggest smile on his face. he holds your hand so preciously throughout the ceremony, his eyes never leaving yours. he thinks he's never been so in love with you before this moment, and he's certain that his love for you will only grow after he can call himself your husband.

fiancé!hyojin who's vows are filled with all sorts of lighthearted stories and moments from since you were friends until now, as well as bittersweet retellings of the times when you've meant the most to him. the way he reads them to you-- laughing at all the absurd moments you've had together; how you confessed to him while drunk; his constant nagging paired with your constant worrying being a combination for unlimited headaches-- has you falling in love with him all over again. you relish in his cute giggles filled with so much love for you, but you also cry at how sincere and genuine his words sound, knowing that he spent weeks writing and rewriting what he wanted to say to you on the day.

fiancé!hyojin who cries just as hard as you did hearing your vows. he regrets having the ceremony so long because all he wants to do is slide another ring your finger and adorn one of his own and be able to kiss you and call you his wife, but he has to wait until after the vows to be able to do it. when he is finally able to slip the ring on your finger, his eyes hold so much affection for you that it's almost dizzying, and you're unable to contain your smiles as you get closer to finally being pronounced husband and wife.

husband!hyojin who kisses you like he's never kissed you before when the officiant finally gives him the go, holding your waist so carefully and dipping you elegantly down just enough to get the perfect wedding kiss photos. he hears the camera shutters click, capturing the moments, and he smiles, knowing he'll be able to look back on your first kiss as husband and wife however often he wants.

husband!hyojin who sings all your favourite songs to you during the reception. he has a setlist planned, but also takes requests from you, putting on his best performance for his beloved wife, unable to take his eyes off of you watching him in your pretty dress.

husband!hyojin who cherishes you every day, especially leading up to his military enlistment, knowing he'll be forced apart from you for the longest time since you had met. he loathes the day he'll have to say goodbye to you, but he's determined to do his best and get back to you as soon as he can. on the day of enlistment, he hugs you tighter than usual, and kisses you with as much passion as he possibly has in his body, before smiling and waving goodbye to you as if the whole ordeal was just another normal day.

military husband!hyojin who texts you whenever he's allowed to use his phone, and calls whenever you're available to. he wishes he could be with you more than anything, but he's excited to be able to see you during his musical performances that are quickly approaching.

military husband!hyojin who knows you'll be in the audience to see him in the musical, and so his eyes search for you as soon as he's up on stage. he smiles so big when he sees you in the front row watching him, and his eyes never leave you throughout the entire time he's performing. you soak up the sound of his lovely voice which you hadn't heard in person for months.

military husband!hyojin who when he's finally discharged can barely keep his hands off of you. he was never the clingy type, but the lengthy separation has him kissing you whenever he gets the chance, and holding your hand whenever he can't. you treat him to his favourite meal as a post military celebration, and you've never seen him so happy since your wedding day.

husband!hyojin who works twice as hard at everything he does after his enlistment, knowing that there's nothing more that can separate him from you. he lives every day in a reality that had only felt like a distant dream when he was in the military; waking up every morning with you by his side, and falling asleep every night with you safely in his arms. he's thankful every day for how lucky he got with you, and he makes sure he knows how much you mean to him. but in the end, he's still your precious, nerdy, lovable best friend who you met as a teenager, dated, and was lucky enough to marry and call your husband.

I made another playlist but this time it's dedicated rather than inspired (ngl I interpret your au as very angsty so there's a lot of rgb and hero angst songs in there whoop)

I don't even know if it's obvious why i chose most of the songs i did lmao but they all relate to them in some capacity

Also the song "Soup Song" feels fitting to them for some reason like

"Your name is an anagram and mine is a joke"

"People ask me why you’re acting so strange, and I say I don’t know"

And "My backpack’s full of hate mail that makes me want to cry" and "I hate you and I loved you for a very long time" especially like-

Feels like how hero might act under the influence of hate (if it even works like that, i always imagined it as hate making hero despise rgb or strengthening those thoughts she might've had when she was younger)

And then some of it being rgb like "The shoes I bought you crunched my necklace" or "I wish that I was lovable like a warm cup of soup... I try to be lovable like a warm cup of soup"

I'm not crazy right this kinda fits

The angst and sheer family feels in this au just kills me in a very good way

This accidentally turned into a whole essay so it's under the cut if you'd like to read just so many words of excitement about characters

The combination of Angst/Family in this AU is STRONG, and that Hate and Hero interpretation is SPOT ON. It's what Hero fears the most about Hate. She spends a lot of the (eventual) story telling herself that all of the anger and sadness and trauma just marinating inside her and causing her to lash out is because of Hate herself, but Hate explicitly tells her that "It's all you. Everything. All the anger, the regret, the guilt, the Hatred. I'm just a magnifying glass."

The Soup Song is actually SUCH a perfect song for them, and especially Hero with "If I had the tendency to yell your ears would be numb. If I had it in me to tell you off you would be done. I'm not used to feeling so down and so dumb." She doesn't WANT to be mad at RGB, and she Hates the part of herself that IS, so she tries to ignore it entirely. (Spoiler alert! It Does Not Go Well.)

She loves RGB SO much but there's a part of her that is just SO mad at him for dragging her into this. Emotions are complicated, and she's the master of feeling two things at once. She understands his motive, and even sympathizes with him, but that doesn't change the fact that she wishes he hadn't. But then again, if he hadn't, she never would've known him at all, and she is in fact extremely grateful to know him and LOVE him as both a friend, and as a father figure.

They're So similar and So different at the same time and it's just...AUUUGH

There's an animatic I have planned from the radio drama "Dangerously Yours," where Hero's in her Knight form, but she's also very clearly not just parroting Hate. She's saying stuff and it's coming from her HEART, and it TERRIFIES her. She feels betrayed, and lied to, and conned, but she also LOVES him and how he's cared for her and tried SO SO HARD to make up for all that he's done and for bringing her here in the first place.

The Hero Knight thingy is basically a way for Hero to finally voice everything she's been trying so hard to keep in and under control. If you've ever seen Steven Universe Future, you know that cactus episode, where Steven talks to the cactus about all his feelings and problems but then the cactus gets out of control and Steven ends up fighting it in front of the people he loves, but also has complicated feelings about. (I'm aware of how strange this sounds if you've never seen it, but just trust me). Hero NEEDS to let all the contempt, and guilt, and regret, and, yes, Hate, go, but there's no way in hell she would do that on her own, so...Hero Knight!

It's pretty much just a glorified version of me shoving them into a locked room, shaking them violently, and saying "TALK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS"

There's a line in that radio drama that I LOVE for this AU, and it's "You forget how close Hate is to Love."

They have to fight with themselves and each other OFTEN, but in the end, they just want the other to be alright. They want to PROTECT each other, and BE THERE for each other, because RGB shouldn't have had to beg for another chance, and Hero shouldn't have had to help him try to save the world. Their situation is SO unfair, and they both know it.

They both have things they despise themselves for, as well. Hero Hates herself for not saving the world and, in her eyes, letting RGB down. He needed a Hero, and she couldn't save him, or anyone else for that matter. RGB Hates himself for dragging all those people, but most of all Hero, into this whole mess. He wishes he would have just given up, but he didn't. He fought, but did so in the most clever but cowardly way a person could, and others paid the price HE should have paid.

This AU is about the characters working through their flaws and the complexity of emotions. "When you first revealed your betrayal by first reaction was 'how dare you rob me of my trust?' But not even this would be able to shake out foundation 'cause it was created by us." (My Heart Still Beats--Marina Mena). Hero and RGB have been through SO MUCH together, and the bond that they share, despite the undercurrent of other feelings that may reside there, is something truly special. they LOVE each other, and nothing can change that. "It hurts but I'm not about to give you up" (same song).

AHH I've been brainrotting over your cartel AU ever since you first mentioned it and this first chapter is already SO good!! (Good enough to stop me lurking lmao and that is a HIGH bar, I am terrified of sending asks.) The top-shelf Alerudy content has me (very patiently) hyped to see more and watch how this plays out!

Also, since we've seen your headcanons for this AU and already know what's going on with Rudy and his "husband", do you think you'll switch perspectives to show what Rudy thinks about all of this or are we going to stick with Ale so the big reveal is more of a plot twist? I'm really excited to finally get started on the Cartel AU!!! Its a super fun AU and I think we could all use some more AleRudy in our lives. It also means I only have one more AU I have to introduce to you guys (God Au which the first chapter is currently in progress lol)

Since we do know that Rudy is the head of the cartel, we will be occasionally switching POV's to his. That being said, the main perspective in the fic is going to be Alejandro's and really any of Rudy's POV's will likely be shorter to maybe give us some context on things or help everyone to know where he is at in taking over the cartel.

There won't be any full chapters from his POV (at least not yet. I suppose someone could request one). It and Letters to Love are both dual POV fics, but with a main POV that will hover over one character (Alejandro and Roach).

I'm really excited to share more with y'all! The next installment will likely be a bit spicy 😏

Holy shit!!! OC went crazy at the end of the chapter 😂. They were so childish, especially her. She was so petty lmao my reaction to it was a mix of Jungkook's, Jimin's and Taehyung's. I was like "girl, why are you acting up right now? 🤨" but I was also concerned and thinking "nuuu don't fight :c" but it was also amusing to see them fighting over that lol I see where she's coming from, but I think she went a lil over the top. Like even she thought to herself in this chapter, she really lets her emotions get to her (and that's okay, she is amazing but she's only human after all). If I was in her place I would be too proud (and terrified) to let it show like that and risk them interpreting her reaction in a certain way, you know... Even I am wondering... it must be jealousy, right? But what type of jealousy? The type you feel towards your best friend when they have a new friend or is it something more? 👀 just thinking some thoughts right now... But it was essentially this reaction that will make some interesting drama happen in the next chapter, I believe. And I am anticipating it a lot, ngl. I'm imagining the chaotic energy of them all camping together again, but now with 2 additions (and perhaps some mutual jealousy? 👀). It's not confirmed yet and I don't know how, but I believe OC will find a way to convince Yoongi 😂 and I am SO excited about his comeback in Mutual Help!!!! I think it will be really fun to read about the camping trip.

I got so out my mind that I forgot to mention everything else that happened in the chapter, but I honestly love all of it so much! They finally did it!!!! And of course it was so hot, they are both so hot, insane chemistry. I kept wondering what was going through his mind and just how much he must have enjoyed that. I would be just like OC, honestly. If I went raw with that man I wouldn't want to go back either 😭 (it would be better to say this in anon lol). That was such a great way to spend the last night there. I'm going to miss seeing them in their routine, but I'm so proud of her for getting a good apartment for herself. I love how supportive the four of them always are to each other. I'm also proud of Jungkook for opening up to his family. He is so much more mature now, I'm glad he seems to be handling it so well now.

Mimi, you always come up with such interesting plots. I think you mentioned there would be drama again, but I had no idea it would be something like that. I feel like it will be something like the earlier chapters. This will be so entertaining for sure. I am anticipating it a lot, everything you write is amazing. And since the constant crying in the anime at the moment has me exhausted to say the least (being in love with both Levi AND Eren can really take a toll on you lmao), can I request a canonverse one-shot (but still kinda an AU where the war isn't happening and things are just calm and normal) where Levi just comes back from an expedition that lasted a few days/weeks (honestly, just longer than the normal expeditions). Concept: Levi comes home from a long expedition with you in his heart and mind. Levi is filled with worry because the last time he saw you, you were being sick in the toilet. Levi's ready to embrace you in a loving hug, but he finds that the scouts that didn't go are making a fuss over you. He manages to get you away from the scouts so he can have you all to himself. As he shares a bath with you, he notices you are a little nervous, upset and distant. Levi asks what's going on and you finally confess you're pregnant. You expect him to be angry, but instead, he's happy and excited, but also a little bit terrified.

Suggestive sexual words warning for near the end and the end.

Levi felt so tired as he rode his horse back to the scout base. He'd been without you for almost a week. He wanted to rush back to his perfect wife and hold you tightly. You always made things better. He also wanted to ensure you were okay because when he left, you had been so sick.

He rode a little faster when he saw the base. He just wanted to see you smile, hear your voice and feel your touch. He raced past everyone to the stables as he was consumed with his memories of you.

He sorted his horse out, then sprinted inside the base and found you in the communal area with Armin, Sasha and Mikasa hovering around you. He frowned when Armin gave you medicine and Sasha made you eat as Mikasa supplied water.

Levi knew he needed a wash, but you were a priority. He stormed over to the group. "Tch, oi? What's going on here?"

Armin flinched a little. "C-Captain. We were just helping squad leader Ackerman."

Mikasa hummed. "She didn't feel too well."

Sasha nodded. "She needs more food."

Levi looked down at you as you sat on the chair. "You're sick still?"

You blushed a little and looked at the scouts and gave them a look to stay quiet because they all knew, especially Sasha because you'd taken her under your wing. "A little, but I'll be okay now thanks to these three. Right?"

Mikasa nodded. "Agreed. We should go. Captain has this."

Levi offered his hand to you. "Come on, brat." He pulled you to your feet, then looked over to the scouts. "Tch, thanks for looking after her. I appreciate it."

You waved to everyone. "See you soon!" You hugged Levi's side. "I'm glad you're home. I missed you."

Levi hugged you tightly against him. "I need a bath. Do you want to join me?"

You nodded shyly. "Sure."

He led you to your shared office and room. "I'll start the bath."

You shook your head. "I will. You should change."

Levi frowned a little as you hurried past with your head down. He was suspicious of you and what was going on. He changed into more comfy clothes, then leaned in the doorway to the bathroom. "Something wrong?"

You gulped hard. "No."

He watched you closely. "Then why have you barely looked at me or touched me? I've been gone almost a week and you're a very affectionate person. I'm starting to feel like maybe I've done something."

You nibbled your lip and looked at Levi. You welled up making you turn away because you didn't want Levi to see you this way. "You've not done anything."

Levi walked over to you and pulled you into his arms. "Shh, it's okay." He rubbed your back. "Is it because it's the first time in years that we haven't been on an expedition together?"

You whined a little. "I love you."

"I love you too." He let you go, then cupped your face and kissed you. "I love you so much."

You shook as you cried more. "You won't."

He frowned. "I won't? What do you mean I won't?"

"I have a secret and it'll make you hate me and you'll divorce me and, and, and, and."

Levi hushed you. "Breathe, okay? Remember the technique I taught you."

You nodded and did the breathing technique to stop your panic attack. You relaxed a little. "I'm okay."

"Good." He let you go and turned the water off once the bath was full. "Okay, so talk. We promise each other we'd have no secrets and we'd reveal everything to each other."

Your rubbed your tears and sniffed. "Yeah."

He smiled a little. "I'll go first. Let me think about the last time I confessed something...I'm kind of up to date." He blushed bright red as a memory came to mind. "Ah, I umm...I remembered something." He cleared his throat. "While umm out on the expedition, I camped away from everyone else, like usual. Me and you always have a spot away from others so we can cuddle." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I might have had some thoughts about you and I...you know...as I thought about you."

You stared at Levi. "You got off on a thought of me?"

He put his head in his hands and groaned. "Yes. I had to go to the river after to clean up. No one was awake and noticed, but fuck me was I a little embarrassed."

You hummed a laugh. "I don't know why you're embarrassed. I touched myself as I thought about you while you were away as well."

Levi locked eyes with you and felt a rush of excitement. "Really?"

You nodded. "Yes, but that's not my secret."

He frowned a little. "Then what is it?"

You hugged yourself and lowered your head. "Levi, I'm pregnant."

Levi stared at you as the words sank in. He remembered how you'd been and it all made sense. You'd had cravings recently. Your breasts had gotten bigger and more sensitive, your skin was glowing a little and you had been sick. "Pregnant?"

You welled up and nodded. "Yes." You rubbed your tears away. "I'm so sorry. I understand if you want to leave me."

"Why would I leave you?"

You looked at Levi. "Because I got pregnant and we've never talked about kids."

Levi stood up. "Oi, oi, oi." He held your upper arms. "I got you pregnant, not you. You need my sperm to get pregnant."

You sniffed. "I guess."

He pulled you against him. "I'd never leave you, okay? Never."

"Levi, I don't want to get rid of this baby. I don't." You pushed him back and hung your head. "S-So, I understand if you want to leave me now."

Levi knelt in front of you and smiled softly with a beautiful sparkle in his eyes. "Never. I'll never leave you." He held your waist. "A baby." He laughed a little. "Our baby..." He kissed your stomach. "I promise you that I won't abandon you like my dad did and uncle. I'll be a good role model. I'll love you, look after you and care for you."

You shook. "Levi..."

He looked up at you. "I'm terrified about being a father with everything going on, plus being a parent is, but I'm more excited and happy. You are the love of my life. I love you more than life itself. I'd kill for you, both of you. My mother raised me by myself and it was fucking hard, so I'd never want that for you." He stood up and cupped your face. "I'll never leave you or the baby. I know I'll mess up, I know I'll make mistakes, I know I'll panic, I know I'll worry, but as long as I have you with me I know we can do anything together."

You sniffed and cried. "Levi. You mean it?"

He nodded. "I mean it. I want to do this. I want this kid. Holy shit." He let you go and paced the room. "I'm going to be a dad!" He laughed, then ran and tackled you into a hug making you squeal. He looked up at you and smiled. "You're going to be such a beautiful mother." He put you down. "I need to buy baby books. I'll start reading up on things. We have to buy a house too. I'll baby proof the house and I need to make sure I get baby safe cleaning products. Everywhere has to be spotless for the baby."

You giggled. "Levi, slow down."

He gazed at you. "No more being a member of the scouts. I want you living a safe and healthy life. I don't want you to die like my mother did. Our baby will grow up with a mother. I have to make sure everything is all clean and ready. I have to look after you."

You covered his mouth with your hand. "Stop." You let out a long sigh. "Stop for a moment, okay?" You sighed. "I was so scared telling you this, but you reacted in such a wonderful way. I need a moment to calm down a little."

He pulled your hand from his mouth. "Let's cuddle in the bath."

You nodded and pulled your things off. You let Levi get in first, then you climbed in right after. You sat between Levi's legs and pressed your back against Levi's chest. "Better."

Levi wrapped his arms around you and rested his chin on top of your head. He hummed in thought, then moved one hand to your belly and rubbed. "You know, you can't drink too much tea while pregnant."

"I know."

He frowned a little. "That's hard."

You sighed as your body relaxed. "I'll manage." You placed your hand on Levi's. "You know, I'm just as terrified as you about this. I'm happy and excited to be a parent with you, but it's a scary thing." You smiled. "I'm glad I'm doing this with you. I'm glad you want to do this together. I'm sorry I thought you wouldn't and you'd leave me."

He kissed the top of your head. "It's okay. I'm not offended. We've never talked about it and it's unplanned. I wanted to talk about in the future, it has been on my mind. So, I have thought about it and it is something I could see us doing together." He blushed. "I'm not going lie. The thought of you holding a baby is really attractive to me. Tch, sorry."

You turned around in the bath and straddled Levi. You hugged him so you were chest to chest. "Come on Levi, you as a father is such a turn on."

He blushed harder. "Really?" He rubbed your back. "Well, I umm...okay." He cleared his throat. "So uhh..."

You pulled back and gazed at Levi with a light blush. "Yes?"

𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐘𝐮𝐫𝐚 - October Recap

Hello hello my angels! Happy Monday! How has the week started for you, hm? How did the weekend treat you! Did you manage to rest? Did anything exciting? Mine was just a lil chill weekend, getting over halloween, getting ready for the new month~ My least favorite part of holidays is definitely having to put things away again, been focusing in getting my house back to normal this last week. Have you put away your decorations already?

I must say Monday has had quite of a rough start for me, but thats alright! Not every day can be flowers and rainbows now, can they? Now something that does make my days better is looking back at good things! And since I had promised a little October recap I guessed now would be as good as ever to do so! Shall we get started? These are some of the most memorable moments from October. (^_^)

First of all, 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 release! There were a thousand things going on during October, and technically the eye glitter dropped late September, but the most exciting thing of all is by far how successful the launch has been! I'm so so so super stoked about this! As you can see, this far we've launched the eye glitter, two eyeshadow pallettes (warm & cool!), and a small line of eyeliner pens. Starting new things its always so scary and I was TERRIFIED really of how the business would go, but thanks to all the support from you and my friends the experience has been nothing but positive! So thank you! And please support me on this new journey. ♡

Food! Food food food!!! I've had SO much food the last month alone LMAO Truth is even if I didn't get to share with you guys a lot of the things I did, I've been cooking a hell lot! I'll never be able to catch up with it in time but I'll make sure to share with you the list of recipes I've been going through for the season once I'm done with it! I've also been eating out tons lately, especially during busy schedules -like shooting for Min or Popsy- I don't always have the time to go home and make something for myself, so I've been checking out small cafes around and honestly, been having a great time doing it!

Halloween time! Not necessarily Halloween Night itself but just- You know when a certain time comes around and your entire energy changes? October certainly does that to me! The change in weather, on scenery, the Halloween vibes, horror marathons on TV, kids running around so happy, everything's just so nice and I love it lots! I dont really go out at night a lot, but I do enjoy sitting on my front yard and just feeling the night, hm? I rarely go on walks, but thats really nice too, so I've done that a few times during October too.

Last but never least, outfits! Now there's not much for me to say about these other than they're memorable. The reasons why? The stories behind of course! These are some of my favorite, not just because I look good (>v<) but because of the things they remind me of, you know? I think a good story should always be behind a good outfit! I do hope I can get some more season oriented fits this month around though- Now that the cozy clothes are finally out!

Ah, OK, I won't do this any longer! I'm definitely going to keep sharing memories here and there, those I couldn't fit here and any other really that I'd like to share! I'll get going now though! Need to get started with dinner~.

Updates on me . . . I guess (?)

Hello~

Again, I'm so sorry for being a bit inactive, but I want to share some personal updates, so you guys can still . . . I don't know, feel some sort of connection with me?

My Portfolio deadlines are coming up soon (Feb. 1st and March 5th) so that's why I'm kinda all over the place rn. I'm excited, but also terrified because I have a weird version of imposter syndrome when it comes to my art—I think that's normal for most artists though.

My school's spring musical is starting! The cast list hasn't officially come out, but my teacher has basically confirmed that I'm gonna be apart of the leading cast (Morticia Addams 😩✊). Unfortunately, this will interfere even more with writing, but I'll do my best to balance everything!

And finally, my 18th birthday is on Thursday! Scary, but exciting is the only way to describe it lmao.

What usually helps me with motivation is asking myself "what is making me excited about this chapter." So I'm turning that to you. What is making you excited about the chapter to Wayward Daughter you're working on? -Riley

Thank you so much for this!!! I have a lot of things that I’m really excited for so I broke it down to a top 10 haha!

1. Kevin and Amy friendship

Kevin and Amy have been friends since the very first chapter, and Amy has always had a soft spot for Kevin for being “Joaquin’s boy”, but a lot of their friendship has been superficial up until now, mostly because of Amy’s reluctance to ever risk being perceived as vulnerable. In this chapter though, Kevin is the first person to really notice how not okay Amy is and is the one who goes out of his way to help. It took a long detour from my chapter outline but I think it really developed their friendship, and I finally got to explore some elements that have been building behind the scenes for Amy but that no one has addressed until now! It also introduces their ship tag, which is “he asked if I was okay”, which comes from the scene I’m currently writing – Amy is bitching a bit about Jughead and Toni and “their northsiders” and when she’s asked why her being friends with Kevin is different she explains that a) she’s not dating him, b) he hasn’t historically treated them like shit, and c) when she was completely falling apart, it wasn’t her partners or even her brother who noticed, but Kevin

2. After several chapters of people letting Amy brush off major trauma, they’re finally acknowledging it!

This actually ties in the most with her scene with Kevin – Amy says some stuff while having a panic attack and Kevin has a moment of confusion before realizing that “oh hey, she’s actually mentioned this stuff before but she says it so casually that I assumed it wasn’t a big deal but clearly it is”. The problem with Amy is that she keeps the important stuff to herself and when she’s forced to acknowledge it she’s always extremely dismissive of it, so everyone else assumes that she’s not bothered (hell, she mentions that she was raped and then just goes back to watching Glee, and everyone is like “well I guess she’s moved on let’s not upset her by talking about it”), but really she’s just internalizing it and not coping at all, but since no one ever really pushes her to talk, it also leads her to feeling like it’s not important – but finally we’re starting to lay out the groundwork for when Amy is finally forced to start talking about things and has to acknowledge that she’s not nearly as okay as she pretends to be

3. After 75k of just not really talking about it, we finally get some actual definition on the Serpents’ relationship!

From the beginning, the narration has always used the term “partner” and the phrase “ride or die” to describe the relationship between the teen serpents, but they’ve never really talked much about what they are! In this chapter we finally get a bit of that, which starts with Amy finding out that everyone at Riverdale High thinks that she and Sweet Pea are dating. After that, Amy finally explains (one again in that scene with Kevin, that could really be a chapter in and of itself with how much goes on in it lmao) what exactly their relationship is, what Jughead’s involvement is, and even what Joaquin’s involvement was before he left town (finally going back to chapters 1 & 3 where Amy mentions having had some sort of relationship with him but never explaining what that relationship was). I’ve wanted to start to explain this for a while, and while I’ve talked about it a bit here on tumblr and in depth with some friends, it’s never really fit into the story

4. Honestly just the actual writing!

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on Wayward and the last couple of chapters felt (to me) very rushed and definitely not my best writing. The episodes that they followed weren’t ones with a whole lot going on for Amy (I’ve plotted out all of season 2 and basically every scene I could think of adding would have thrown off bigger arcs) so they were just... short and rushed and felt very forced. This chapter on the other hand has gotten way too long just because there’s so much going on, but it’s given me an opportunity to really delve into things again and I think that the actual writing (technically and in terms of content) is a lot better than what I’ve gotten to do in a while and I’m really excited to share that! Also, clearly, there are a lot of scenes that I’m really proud of and really excited to share with readers (hopefully they like it as much as I do!)

5. Just, angst

So I’ve definitely never been nice to Amy, but the angst in this chapter makes me really happy (and very sad). It’s not all big showy angst, or even as extreme as other parts of the story, but it feels extremely poignant. There definitely are some bigger pieces of angst in this chapter (Amy falls asleep in tears multiple times, for example), but I think that my absolute favourite angsty pieces are actually two of the most subtle ones. What I love about them being subtle (aside from just how much I love the scenes) is that Amy is a character who we see repeatedly go headfirst into danger and go through very painful situations, but she always gets through them and maintains her illusion of being completely okay all the time (even though she is so not okay someone please get her a therapist) because she can absolutely handle physical pain and she’s gotten used to psychological trauma, but the one thing that Amy cannot handle which is prominent in both of my favourite scenes is being rejected/feeling unwanted, and while she hasn’t had a lot of that yet, we finally get to see something actually break through her walls

6. We finally start to actually acknowledge Amy’s unhealthy coping mechanisms

This sort of goes with #2 and #6. Ever since chapter one, we’ve seen Amy having extremely unhealthy coping mechanisms (namely alcohol and sex and trying to ignore her problems) and in this chapter we see that she actually can’t ignore her problems forever, and we finally see people actually looking at Amy and going “hey this is definitely not a good way to deal with shit” instead of the usual “oh yeah that’s just Amy being Amy”, and it’s very satisfying! Archie has called her out on it once before, but he’s the only one – her partners are so used to it that most of the time they don’t even realize what she’s doing because to them it’s just part of her personality and Jughead has generally hesitated to comment on it because he worries about pushing her away. As a writer it’s been a bit frustrating to see how much no one seems to realize how self destructive Amy is, so it’s very satisfying to finally get to address it!

7. Amy & Fangs relationship

So much of the story so far has been very focused on Amy & Sweet Pea, Amy & Jughead, and the poly squad, with a moderate amount of Amy & Toni, but Amy & Fangs hasn’t gotten a lot of exploration so far. Amy and Toni also explored a lot in this chapter but it’s very much for the worse as Toni begins to prioritize Cheryl over the other Serpents. Amy and Fangs, on the other hand, have much more positive development and we really get to see them being best friends in one-on-one situations, as well as Fangs being the one who can actually handle Amy’s extreme emotions. I’ve always had it in my head that they’re sort of two sides of the same traumatized coin, and that Fangs understands Amy better than the others (in part due to his own trauma and in part because Amy, Toni, and Sweet Pea are all just very strong and very stubborn personalities and it tends to be a bit of a 50/50 on whether they’ll actually help each other or just set each other off) and I’m really glad that I finally get to start putting that into the story

8. Amy & Fred!!

I stan one father-daughter duo and that is it. Granted, Amy has only called Fred her dad as a political move (usually against Hiram) and once in the immediate aftermath of being arrested and severely injured, and is just emotionally not prepared to call him “dad”, but Fred is absolutely his father and absolutely adores his chaotic mess of a daughter! They’ve had some good scenes throughout the fic but Amy is reluctant to spend too much time around Fred because she’s terrified that one day he’s going to reach his limit and decide that he doesn’t want her anymore, so I haven’t gotten to write them nearly as often as I’d like. But finally we get to see them interact again, and Amy finally gets the love and support that she deserves and we get a bit of backstory on Amy’s childhood post adoption!

9. Malachai is finally back

Look, I know that I say this about every dynamic, but Amy & Malachai is very genuinely my favourite dynamic in the entire Wayward universe! I’m super proud of my personal Malachai in general (as @lorettastwilight and I like to put it, Wayward daughter has “Mal” and Riverdale has “Malachai”) but his relationship with Amy is my absolute favourite thing. It’s really hard to work him into the story sometimes, in part because talking to Malachai would solve all of Amy’s problems in like 20 seconds, but now there’s finally a chance to do it! I haven’t actually written it yet, it comes right after the scene I’m currently working on, but Amy is a lot more open with Malachai than she is with anyone else, and I love it! It’s also a lot of fun to write because it combines vulnerable!Amy, who looks at Mal and sees safety and sees the man who had a completely blackout drunk teenager proposition him and not only turned her down but protected her from anyone who might have tried to take advantage of her, with Serpent Queen!Amy who is political and cutthroat and sees Malachai as as the Ghoulie King and as possibly the only person in town as calculating as she is, and it creates a dichotomy that I really love to explore! And even though only one other person actually knows their backstory, I’m extremely proud of it and it’s really fun to explore how to build that into their dynamic without ever actually acknowledging it

10. FIFI THE GIRAFFE

No offence to literally any other character, but Fifi The Giraffe is the absolute best part of the entire Wayward Universe, and I finally get to introduce her to the story! Not only does introducing Fifi make me happy because Fifi is just like, the best, but it also gives me a chance to really focus on the fact that Amy is fifteen and still a child even though she never shows it around other people, and to get to explore a bit more of nine year old Amy immediately post adoption, and her relationship with Fred and Archie! Both of those are things that I’ve wanted to explore for a long time but that have never really worked with individual chapter arcs or with the pacing of the larger season arc, so now that I can finally write that, I’m really excited to share it with everyone!

I know this turned into a really long essay and I’m so sorry about that, but thank you again so much for sending me this ask!!! (and you’re totally right, this got me super hyped to get back into the chapter!!)
