Mickey's hobbies/interests include (in no particular order):

Gambling (from card-playing to the nastier stuff like betting on boxing matches and illegal animal fights)

Theater (he attends the opera often because he likes how being in a box with other wealthy/"important" people makes him feel, but he enjoys plays and smaller-time libretto works more. He is SUCH a theater snob and has Opinions™ on everything he sees)

Whoring (either himself or paying for company (lol that's cute. no, Edward always pays))

He has a low-key interest in fashion and always tries to stay on top of the latest trends

Cartography was a necessary hobby for him to pick up, and it helped he was always good with geography

History! He loves learning about history in general, but also the history of weaponry and warfare. The Ancient Roman Empire is his favorite

Related to above, but he's also fascinated with ancient pantheons

But even more than those, Mickey loves languages! both ancient and modern. He's fluent in Spanish (his first language), English, Latin, French, and some scattered Italian and ancient Greek. Ever since he was a schoolboy, he tried to learn as much as he could. Even though he rarely has time for learning any new ones, he owns a lot of books on languages!

Gifts he's received are a complicated matter for him. While he still has the recipe box and scarf his mother gave him, they weren't birthday gifts and he doesn't have anything she ever gave him for his birthdays. Most of his belongings he carried on into adulthood were practical objects and birthday gifts were pieces of his childhood that he mostly left behind in South America.

Though, he loves getting birthday gifts. Here's a few that stand out for him:

A gold pocket watch Edward got him for his 27th birthday. It was very expensive and it looks it, all shiny with an engraving inside that reads, "To my dearest friend Mickey, Happy Birthday". Mickey always wears this watch, though not because Edward gave it to him, but because of how admired it is among their peers. Mickey himself could not purchase a nicer watch and thus treasures it

Several of his neckties were gifts, two of which were from Augusta

An enormous painting from the embassy that Mickey keeps over the fireplace in his office

KNICKKNACKS!! Mickey loves knickknacks, from statues to decorative antlers. Just STUFF he can put on surfaces to show off he isn't the miserable little boy who has little to nothing left from his childhood. Friends of his know he always appreciates a new object to add to his collection

Books are also always a well-received gift Mickey is happy to get on his birthday

Tickets to some show or event. Edward's taken Mickey to the opera for his birthday more than once

Chocolates (because of course he loves chocolate~)

You're in a small record store that is also a cafe. You stand in front of a huge shelf and browse through it, looking for new records. Soft music plays in the background to which you hum.

The bell above the door rings as it opens. You look up briefly. A lanky man with blond hair enters the store and sits down at one of the three tables in the corner. He orders a coffee from Max, the store owner and barista.

You concentrate again on the shelf in front of you.

A short time later, you stand at the counter. "Hey Max, can I have a latte? You know where to find me?"

"Hi Y/N, of course." Already he turns around and does his job.

You walk over to the tables. No one is sitting there except the blond man. He stares at his exposed arm. When he notices that someone is approaching him, he lifts his gaze.

His face is somehow familiar. You have probably seen him here before.

You sit down at the table next to him, put the records you found in front of you and look at the covers.

"Here Y/N, your latte."

"Thanks Max." You grin at him. He goes back behind the counter.

You immediately take a sip. You can't help but look to the blond.

He is writing intently on his arm. Since you sit relatively close to him you can read what he writes.

You frown. What does that mean? You look into his eyes, into those ocean blue eyes. Then you remember who he is. Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana!

"Oh, that." He points to his arm. "I don't know. It just popped into my head." He looked at you, thinking. "Do we know each other?"

"Now that you mention it. You're always standing in front of all those records aren't you?"

"So what are you going to do with the text?" You point to his arm.

Kurt straightens back up and extends his lanky hand to you. "Nice to meet you Y/N."

You take his hand. "Nice to meet you too Kurt."

"So, Y/N, I'm writing a new song." He stares thoughtfully at his arm. "But maybe I'll scrap this lyrics."

"Why? They're good. I don't understand anything, but they're really good."

He laughs. "Let's see." His blue eyes look back into yours. "You know I love writing my songs here."

"Isn't it a little risky? I mean it's a record store. Shouldn't there be Nirvana fans hanging out here all the time?"

"On the contrary. The store is so unknown that almost no one ever enters. That's why it's so quiet here." He brushes a strand of hair out of his face.

You look at him challengingly. "What if I tell everyone you've been hanging around?"

He laughs, "I don't think you would."

"Fans would come here looking for me. They'll see I'm not here and buy all your records instead."

You clutch your chest in mock concern. "You're right. I'd better not do that then."

"That's what I thought. Besides, I wouldn't set foot in this store, and we'd never see each other again." He waits for your reaction.

You look at him with your mouth open. "What?"

He repeats himself. "We would never see each other again."

You hold your cup. "I get that... But you want to see me again?"

ohhh just saw ur rant post! i agree with like 99.99% of it and im excited and i just wanna point out that it's stated in canon that james would have considered it the height of dishonor to distrust his friends, so, canonically, we only know of sirius suspecting remus (although i've read fics where james also distrused remus and i adore the angst and the drama and the absolute tragedy of it)

to add to the dorm thing: there are only like 5 boys in gryffindor in harry's year. not just in his dorm, but the whole house (as stated in chambers of secrets), so there's a very real chance the marauders were the only 4 boys in their year in gryffindor

and also to back up another one of ur points: pottermore canon states that remus was the one to bring peter into the group ("Remus, always the underdog’s friend, was kind to short and rather slow Peter Pettigrew, a fellow Gryffindor, whom James and Sirius might not have thought worthy of their attention without Remus’s persuasion. Oh, yeah, you're actually right here. It was pretty much Sirius we know about but I somehow thing it must have been a little bit from the others too. Especially because of the fact that Remus had actively started distancing himself. I'm not 100% sure if it's ever mentioned that someone outside of the Marauders, later Snape, and Dumbledore knew he's a werewolf. Maybe the other teachers, or some of them, but I highly doubt anyone in the first Order knew. In fact, maybe Lily didn't know. And I mentioned in another post how I think that maybe he hasn't seen Harry as a baby and this makes me feel so sad because he probably wanted to stay away.

But I'm not so sure here, I have to admit it's been a while since I read the books.

Oh, okay, that's a good point! We really don't know if there weren't other boys there. I just think, all dorms were kind of for 5 people and idk, if there are 5 students, they all gonna be in one. If there are 10 or less, they'll be in two, etc. So I suppose here the question is how many boys were in this year. (Tbh, I never really understood the roommates thing xD I somehow can't imagine having to share a room with someone for years and not becoming friends. Sure, for example Harry and Ron were best friends but I believe they considered the other friends too, just not as close. How would you otherwise trust these people with stuff like... Not touching your personal things or like, killing you in your sleep. Stuff like that. Also, it's otherwise kinda awkward.)

That said, I still haven't decided if I'll actually write this or not x'D At the moment it's just roughly 600 words of dialogue for a possible ficlet set sometime during the later parts of the drama (but before The Breakup), where Ga On gets jealous enough about Yo Han's previous conquests to (accidentally) push things between them to... develop, I guess we could say? xD

But I think the idea needs to percolate a bit first. Since while I find Ga On's apparent penchant for jealousy quite fascinating, I'm also a little wary of the trope itself. It can easily turn into something quite toxic. And while toxic is par for the course with these two, I also want it to make sense for the characters and maybe have a little more substance?

Like, it almost feels a bit cheap to have that whole "I saw these two people do something vaguely suspicious and now I'm grumpy and jealous" cliché?

Then again, Ga On is both emotional and impulsive enough to fall for it x'D Especially if it's coupled with a bit of mild internalised homophobia and guilt over the fact that he "should" be more interested in pursuing Soo Hyun, not feeling jealous over something Yo Han does.

He'd be so annoyed that Yo Han makes him feel all those confusing things and then has the audacity to flirt with someone else.

And I guess the substance would come quite naturally once Ga On reaches the point where he goes: "What if this unspoken thing between us is just another one of his games? Something he does for fun? Because that's just what he's like? I'm just a joke to him, aren't I?"

And also realises that Yo Han doesn't actually owe him anything, so whatever jealousy and attachment Ga On feels is entirely his own fault.

(For someone who doesn't like angst, I sure find ways to include it in many of my fics).

I am tempted to write it, I can admit, especially since it would also include a scene a bit later (as in, a bit after the two phrases above) where Yo Han goes:

"I'm making it your business. If that's what it takes."

Because I like that thought? Or, rather, I'm impressed by Yo Han's creativity when it comes to expressing that "I want you to be the person to entertain me now" but without sounding quite that desperate. He's perfected the skill of never appearing weak or giving other people the upper hand into an art.

So yeah. We'll see. Either way, it's not the project I should be working on right now. So it's not happening anytime soon even if I do decide to write it xD

SO. My whole thought process behind this really was "cute summer pics with Vince and Kerry :3" but none of Kerry's default outfits scream "summer vibes" to me. Also maybe I just wanted to put him in the ridiculously short hotpants, because I love the look on Vince xD

Sooo... this is my first time making an NPC appearance though, so tutorial time! Super nice to follow and beginner friendly, even though WolvenKit is still overwhelming af. But at least at this point things are starting to make more sense to me than they did two days ago xD

Now, after fiddling and testing and trying and following the tutorial just fine (messing up a few times because apparently I can't read as well as I thought), I ended the night with this:

Right shirt, wrong colour, couldn't figure out how to change it XD But a good start! Also put him in his 2023 shoes and pants, because the hotpants and sandals, even though both vanilla, weren't cooperating in the way I thought. Basically..... invisible legs and feet Kerry, which was funny, but not the look I was going for xD I think... maybe it had something to do with the appearance I used as a base? But your guess is as good as mine, I decided to call it a night and start over from scratch with a different, less complex appearance as base XD I still love the vibes of this look though, I might play around with it a bit more :3

Several fruitless attempts later, I finally ended up with this! xD For some reason I lost his face cyberware somewhere along the way though, but fuck yeah, he has legs and feet again! And stole V's shirt, again!!! (god I'm so so so happy now that I know how this works, I'm gonna make him so many outfits with that shirt. the storytelling opportunities!!!)

While I was fiddling with V's T-shirt I figured out how easy it is to change mesh appearances by pure accident xD So, put the dadshirt mesh back in, change mesh-appearance to the colour I want and BAM! Success!! I was jumping around in my chair like an idiot but yes... I'm so happy rn XD Tired, but happy, and a tiny bit smarter about all this than before.

What I love about this outfit, besides the aesthetics (TM): He's wearing his dangly jewelry, which a lot of custom outfits I've come across don't seem to have, but I love the chonky gold chains a lot (so does Vince, they're good for grabbing >:3). And he's wearing one modded clothing item (dad shirt), one player item (hotpants, definitely borrowed from Vince), and his own flip flops from the bathrobe outfit xD

it was all a dream, i just called to say, and in law out(ing) by @canariie: her writing is beautiful, her plots are offer many sweet and homely moments, and they all feature my OTP. The first was a request form me and I love the direction to she took it, giving Toshiro and Momo a soft moment where they're both scared but then turning it into a moment Toshiro can express how he truly feels. The second is beautiful from start to finish, giving us an interaction between two like-minded individuals who have been through a lot and would probably benefit from meeting each other in canon; also the last third is just so good for a Hitsuhina fan! The last is just great fun, and I love seeing Shinji and Toshiro interact like this (it also gave us #letshinjifish2k23, what's not to love?!) If for some reason you haven't read these fics (or any of her fics for that matter) and you're a hitsuhina fan, read them after this post!

Bleach Returns day 3: A Time to Celebrate by @recurring-polynya: yeah that's right, I go back and read this fic of yours! It's one of the most humorous fics I've read, and it never fails to make me smile. I love all the characters' banter with each other, it feels organic and it's awesome to see some character interact with each other (seriously, I never thought I'd want to see Chad interact with Rangiku and Toshiro, but here we are). I've been meaning to read your submission for this year's BLEACH Anime Celebration too, but I'm sure I'll love it!

a cacophny in stillness by @visionen-im-spiegel: I mentioned it in my last ask response, but there's just something about this fic. I love to come back and reread it as a whole, but there's just certain sections I read it for. I love in the last chapter where Momo finds Toshiro, and there's that shock of seeing him at first, but more than that, there's relief that the war is all finally over, and they have each other in that moment of realisation.

the warmest place in the world by @pinkhairedlily: this is such a fluffy read! I love snippet of the hitsuhina married life here, it feels authentic and organic. I always laugh at the drunk Toshiro scene, the poor guy forgets he finally married Momo! XD

D O N K I and Away, Away by @bleachbleachbleach: I've said many thinks about their writing, and I cannot praise them enough. These two fics in particular hit me though. Again, a little biased here, but the first was written as a request from me, but like with canariie, it got taken in a direction I didn't see coming but absolutely loved. Toshiro and Orihime interactions are always a 10/10 for me, they're a soft friendship that needs to explored more. And this fic even got me to care about the weird unspoken side characters in Orihime's neighbourhood! Away, Away holds a special place for me, as it was the first fic I read from bleachbleachbleach, I come back to it because I still marvel at the world building, the atmosphere throughout, and the character interactions being so on point.

18. What's one of your favorite lines you've written in a fic?

There's more than one line here, but I feels it needs context for me to explain why it's one of my faves. This one is from On the Shoreline:

“I-I didn’t understand why you were becoming so distant, I thought getting away from the Soul Society would help, but now I think I know. Are you…?” She’s conflicted, her lips opening to continuing her question, only to close seconds later and becoming a taut, pressed line. He’d wanted to tell her what was on his mind, but not like this. To his own ear, he’s ended up both paranoid and like a child complaining about something not going his way. He's upset her. Toshiro sighs, suddenly more tired than before. “What is it?” She still hesitates, her focus on the waves circling his ankles. Eventually, she raises her head and steps closer. “Are you scared?” It hits him in the chest like a stone thrown into glass. For a second, his blood runs tight and cold in his limbs. His heart skips a beat, then clenches. He can feel hairline fractures running through him, threatening to break apart.

I still can't forget how long I sat there trying to come up with a line to emphasis the impact this question has on Toshiro. This was the moment in the story where he finally breaks down more or less, and finally tells Momo what's been going on for him. He's been keeping his walls up, but they aren't strong ones; he's at a point where they're being worn down and he's barely making it through this trip, and Momo's concern, her insight into who he is and how he's feeling, finally breaks them down completely.

It might be a corny or cliched line, but love how it turned out in the grant scheme of the story. Her question hit him hard, and finally got him to open up to her when he's been the exact opposite for most of the fic.

So answering this is like [ checks watch ] two months late but I finally found a place I could watch it! I'll admit I wasn't spending a whole lotta time looking bc my brain switched to hyperfixating on TMNT instead of LMK, BUT, that doesn't mean my love for the series disappeared!

I'm actually hoping to start working on Into The Wukongverse again after I finish the season :0 I haven't seen the specials yet unfortunately, the website I'm using doesn't have them bc they're not out in english yet I don't think :(

But also, if I start work on Into The Wukongverse again, I'll be working on it alongside my ROTMNT fic "Just This Once, Everybody Lives" because I refuse to abandon that fic. I have vivid stories in my mind for both, and sure, I haven't touched ITTW in... a while, BUT I haven't stopped thinking about it this whole time! I still have the masterpost pinned for a reason! I'll have to go back and redo some of it, but I'm still working on it, I promise!

So my initial thoughts when I saw how different the sworn brothers were from the original cast of brothers (i wasn't terribly surprised honestly considering how different LMK already is to the source material) was actually delight! I'd already known about the new demons, since they made book appearances (it's been... a while since I've thought deeply about LMK, I'll be honest, so some lore has slipped from my brain unfortunately) and I can't quite remember if they were part of the og brotherhood or not, but I DO know they were adversaries that Wukong fought later on! So it was really cool to see them animated like that! Makes me wonder what became of the og brotherhood members, tho.

It was honestly a little funny how Azure told MK and Mei not to draw attention to themselves and the first thing they do is try to kidnap Tripitaka after saving him from being eaten XD Honestly, these doofuses... The episodes are very fast paced, but it's understandable considering they're only eleven minutes long

And also...

Married. Married, holy SHIT they are so married I'm not even joking LOOK AT THIS OH MY GOD also the "I'm your Tangy :(" line- HUSBANDS. MARRIED. OH MY GOD. Literally this was so fucking cute oh my goooOOOOOOOOOOOOD-

Also, the entire thing of "No, Wukong's not my dad. It had me looking at my lore for the Wukongverse and going "Yeah that tracks" XD

I'm taking this opportunity to highlight a fic that I wrote for an anthology I put together with a team of *very* talented writers and artists, Metal Gear Solid: Lost Years. I had wanted to tell a story about Hal's isolation and vulnerability in his youth, the aspects of his past that made him an easy target for predatory behavior- and even though this story isn't particularly long, I think it's the one I spent the longest working on (in a words per day sense). Writing this story made me dead sure that Kojima was referencing the movie "The Graduate" when it came to the Emmerichs, and I tried to channel that sort of listlessness into this story. Because it was for a zine, I don't think it got many hits or comments, so I'm putting it here now.

The Man in the Mask

My own little "hit in the face by Apollo's red playground ball" of a fic- I actually wrote this Spideypool AU to deal with my frustrations regarding the handling of asylum seekers at the border- but the pandemic aspects of the story ended up hitting very close to home for everyone just a few years later. Fun! This is one of those stories I thought of as a "weird one that nobody read" but when I looked at my actual hit counter, I saw it had proven more popular than I realized, so that's good for me? It's a bit of a bottle episode that is more about Wade and Peter than Deadpool and Spider-Man and has a more sedate tone for most of it, but I'm partial to the way the story unfolds.

Another Metal Gear story, this was for the Otasune Zine "Let the World Be". I got to team up with the incredible Harshai who did the illustrations for this story in the zine. It's a collection of moments during Dave and Hal's Philanthropy days, each one with an accompanying photograph. It's a pretty soft one, but one that comes to mind a lot, especially when I'm in the car and staring out the window at the landscape, thinking about these two on the open road. It also comes to mind every time I see a ridiculous food challenge posted on a restaurant wall. I need to see about getting permission to share the art in the posted fic, because I think it really adds something, especially the last image which was a polaroid of Sunny besting Hal's time eating the enourmous burger.

Five Years Later

Yeah, it's a WIP. What are you gonna do about it? Back from hiatus, it's the second installment of a "mostly MCU compliant" Spideypool "met as childhood friends" AU that my friend @343enderspark and I have been working on for years. In this portion of the story, Wade is dealing with life in a world without Peter (oh, and half the population, I guess) and slowly starting his journey of training and eventually becoming the person he was meant to be. (And the Defenders show up because I literally could not resist.) I got to try my hand at writing a lot of different characters in this fic, so it's been fun to flex those muscles. We had a long break between the first and second chapter, but we're back on track and CH 3 is drafted and waiting on edits, so that should be out soon. :3

Home's Around the Corner (It's a Long Way There)

More WIPs? Yeah. More AU's? Double yeah, because this one is more or less an AU or an AU. XD This is a new project I'm working on with @blissful-thinker that's Earth-65 but a step to the left, where Matt wasn't adopted by the Hand, but ended up staying with the Chaste, and returns to New York City years later only to find out he doesn't really have a place in his old home anymore. (Or does he?) This one has been a lot of fun and allows me to write one of my favorite things- tired DA Nelson, and also too-big-for-her-britches Gwen, haha. It may be niche, but it's *my* niche.

Looking at all these posts about the brothers being protective of mc and doing things like walking them home just warms my heart <3 but at the same time my parents were also suuuper protective like that and didn't let me go anywhere or do anything alone so for me at least I think their behavior would get a lil overbearing at times and then all I can think of is-

Mc: Ok guys I am going to take out the trash

Mammon: Ok I'll come with ya

Mc: Huh? Why?

Lucifer: You should take someone with you

Mc: I am literally just going to take the trash out I'll be fine!

Asmo: But what if something happens to you! We would be so sad >.<

Mc: Guys I appreciate the concern, but I am pretty sure I'll be fine. Besides it feels weird to have to be escorted everywhere by people who still go to school when you have already passed college.

Yeah I'm sure they get pretty overbearing really quickly! But in canon in later episodes they do pretty well with understanding that MC can handle themselves pretty well

🥺 It took me a while to really think this through because I'm a pro at overthinking and also, I wasn't sure if my thoughts were the right answer. So, I'd say that a common interaction that always gets me in the feels (Happy/fluffy) is when I have characters touch foreheads or tenderly caress a thumb against a cheek.

A more angsty interaction that would get me in the feels would be character A holding character B, whether they be partners or family/friends, as character B dies in their arms. Super feely!

✨ (You did this on purpose, you who often hear me insult and complain about my writing. Fiend. If I must, I shall.) I am incredibly creative when it comes to my worlds. As for my writing, I really like how far I've come and how much my writing has improved.

💖 My fifth grade teacher, who loved giving us prompts either from a published book full of art prompts, or prompts he wrote for us. He helped me find my love for writing, and fifth grade was when I wrote my first ever fanfiction which was a Percy Jackson fanfic with a self-insert oc who was helping him and the gang fight monsters. Didn't know it was fanfiction at the time. I also dabbled in my own stories, and as a child who had only ever used toys to create worlds, to sit there and see worlds in my head while putting them on paper was an awesome experience and it's stuck with me since. I've continually improved my style, and I am forever grateful to Mr. Jackins for giving me my love for writing. You have no idea the monster you created XD

🤲 A snippet? Goodness, that's too much man! You're asking too-

"You're allowed to have friends outside of the task force, Hesh. Soap seems like a nice guy." Keegan sips his coffee; coffee Soap had brought him because Keegan wouldn't stop bitching at the weak shit in the lounge area.

"Merrick makes me feel like I can't." He says, leaning against the wall opposite Keegan.

"He's a mother hen, he worries." Keegan defends, eyes full of a teasing light.

"Ha, I don't know how I feel-" His words catch in his throat, a voice from a room down the hall echoing against the walls. He knows this voice. He turns, ignoring Keegan's confusion to march down the hall and barge into the room.

"You have something that belongs to me, Captain." That devilish voice, full of hatred and conniving rattles Hesh's skull and has him falling back against the door before his eyes settle on the face before him.

Captain Price stands just ahead, arms crossed, his eyes locked on the man before him.

"Rorke!" Hesh snarls, launching forward only to be held back.

"Hey there junior!" Rorke calls, cackling like the piece of shit he is.

Hesh snarls, his teeth bared like a wild animal desperate for a kill.

"You look good, it's been a while." His eyes flick to whoever is holding him. "Still can't keep your pups in line Merrick? Damn shame." He leans back, standing to his full height on the screen. "I'll be in touch Price, I don't let shit go easily." The screen goes black, and the hard eyes of Captain Price fall on Hesh.

"We need to talk." He says, and while he holds no anger in his voice, his eyes share how displeased he is.

All right, this fic is inspired by this wonderful art by @chipsncookies , she makes quite amazing art in general btw.

But yeah, I wanted to write this cause I thought it would be a silly idea to just have interaction between the two Larrys from two separate games and just added it as I go.

There's no spoilers here unless you count Phoenix, Edgeworth, and Larry hanging out post game 3 at the least. Though I had in my head them post game 6 so whichever you like I guess xD

And yeah just assume they're in the pokemon universe and know already everything about the mechanics and such

Anyway here's the fic and I'll add the Ao3 Link later:

Title: First Larry Second Larry

"You two are gonna love this restaurant!" Larry Butz repeated to the two of his friends as he opened the door, "The food here in the Treasure Eatery is phenomenal!"

"I'm more surprised you know what the word phenomenal meant, Butz…" Edgeworth commented as he side eyed Larry.

"Hey! I know some big words!" Larry defended himself, "I did graduate from middle school you know!"

"I guess if Larry says this is a good place to eat, then it's worth a try…" Phoenix immediately changed the topic as the three entered the restaurant.

"But don't expect me to pay for both of you.." Edgeworth sighed as he followed suit.

Larry had already gone far from his friends and was waving at them to sit next to them at the open bar at the corner of the restaurant. "C'mon already! I got seats here for you!"

"I have to admit, even for you, you're too excited for a simple restaurant." Phoenix commented.

"Oh you'll see why!" Larry teased as he called for the chef. “Soba Noodle Soup please!”

“Coming right up Second Larry!” The chef happily took his order as he turned to the other two lawyers next to him, “And what about you two gentlemen?”

“Second Larry?" Phoenix questioned how the chef referred to his friend, "But I guess…. I'll take the sandwich special."

"Bitter Melon Stir-fry for me please." Edgeworth had given his order. "Then I suppose this First Larry is a much better person you Hmm?"

"Shut up Edgey!” Larry stuck his tongue out, “It’s just the First Larry is kinda a big deal in this restaurant. So he deserves it."

"Oh? How come?" Phoenix asked him.

"You'll see…” Larry chuckled to himself.

Just then, next to Larry sat an unassuming business man. He placed down his briefcase next to his seat, let out a tired sigh, and turned to notice the ones sitting next to him.

"Oh… hello there Larry." He greeted the man who sat  next to him. "You're here early."

"Wassup First Larry, my man!" Larry Butz patted him on the back, while the other barely flinched from it "On your lunch break?"

"Yes…" Businessman Larry replied as he turned to the chef, "I'll have a plate of grilled rice balls."

"Sure thing First Larry!" The chef happily took the order and went back to the kitchen to make it.

"So this is the First Larry you speak of." Edgeworth turned to look at the man his friend is referring to. To him, he looked like your plain, old, run-of-the-mill businessman.

"That's right! First Larry here has been a regular ever since he started working in Medali." Butz started.

"All that hype for a regular customer?" Phoenix couldn't help but wonder, especially at how plain looking the man was to him.

"Here's all your orders gentlemen!" The chef popped in and gave them their food.

"Thank you for the food!" Butz grabbed his bowl and began digging in.

"Thank you…" Phoenix accepted his plate, "You were saying… "Second Larry"?" 

"Oh yeah…" Butz slurped his noodles, then spoke again, "He's the guy who recommended the best food in this restaurant!"

"Everything's good here…" Businessman Larry said as he grabbed his plate of grilled rice balls, "Larry here just wanted something cheap so I brought up this ramen…"

"So you were just being cheap Butz, not a surprise." Edgeworth stifled a laugh.

"Are these two your lawyer friends, Larry?" Businessman Larry asked him, "Huh, didn't think they were real."

"I suppose it'd be hard to believe if it was just coming from him huh?" Phoenix laughed at the wording.

"Why are you three ganging up on me! Some friends you all are!" Butz pointed an accusing finger at every one of them.

Businessman Larry sighed, Edgeworth shrugged with a smirk, while Phoenix just continued laughing at the situation.

Just then….

"Medium-serving, grilled rice balls, Fire Blast-style, with fresh lemon on the side!" A shout from a server at the front entrance rang out.

"Gotcha! Medium rice balls, extra crispy, with lemon!" The chef cried out at the same volume and quickly pressed the button at the edge of her counter.

“What’s going on?!” Phoenix nearly dropped his sandwich as there was a sudden rumbling shook the whole restaurant. 

“The whole middle seating area has disappeared!” Edgeworth was shocked to see what had just occurred right before their eyes. “It revealed a hidden battle court!”

“Congratulations! You've passed the Gym Test!” The server cheered for the young student in front of him, “You now have the right to challenge the Gym Leader!” 

“Gym Test?” Phoenix exclaimed, “This restaurant doubles as a Gym building?”

“Just–” Butz wanted to answer but he got cut off.

“Just the battle court is here…” Businessman Larry replied as he swallowed his first rice ball. “This is still a restaurant through and through…”

“That is understandable…” Edgeworth had calmed himself down, “But then that would mean one of the restaurant’s staff is the gym leader. Perhaps the Chef?”

“Oh dear no, sweetie!” The chef spoke up as she shook her head, “Not dear old me! I ain’t even a trainer. The real Gym Leader is…”

“LARRY!! YOU’RE UP!!” The server shouted again to grab the Gym Leader’s attention. 

“Ah! Speak of the devil…” 

“And I just started lunch too…” Businessman Larry sighed once more as he turned from his seat, grabbed his briefcase, stood up, and walked towards the student challenger. “Hello…”

“See…” Butz then smirked as he elbowed Phoenix, “Told ya there was something exciting here!”

“It is not every day that you get to see a restaurant turn into a Gym Court.” Edgeworth agreed much to his own annoyance.

“Or an unassuming businessman to be its Gym Leader.” Phoenix pushed his friend’s elbow off of him. 

“I know, right?” Butz continued as the Gym Leader Larry had already walked into the court. “And he’s no pushover either. He’s a really good trainer!” 

“Thank you for doing business with us today. I, Larry, will be at your service.” Gym Leader Larry then straightened his tie and pulled out his pokeball hidden underneath his suit jacket.

With a toss, he sent out his Komala to the field.

“I assume he uses Normal type for this gym then?” Edgeworth asked Butz.

“Yeah! It suits him, doesn't it?”

“It suits him too well if you ask me…" Phoenix let out a chuckle, "He looks so… well… normal."

Komala was soon taken down by the challenger's Flamigo's Low Kick.

Larry could only give a hum of approval as he returned Komala back to its ball and brought out his second Pokemon. "Go, Dudunsparce."

Meanwhile the challenger kept their Flamigo in hopes to sweep Dudunsparce as well.

“Dudunsparce, Hyper Drill.” Gym Leader Larry commanded his pokemon as he maintained his usual tone.

Dudunsparce cried out as it turned around and shot itself while spinning at blinding speed towards the opposing Pokemon and defeated it in one shot.

“But as Butz has stated, he’s powerful in battles…” Edgeworth observed, “I hate to admit it, but for once the idiot had something good to show us.”

“No kidding…” Phoenix was impressed. “He just took out that Flamigo with one shot.”

“Come on out Pawmot!” The challenger cried out as they tossed the ball to bring out their Pawmot. “Quick, use Arm Thrust!” 

With a lucky five successful consecutive hits, Dudunsparce fainted. Gym Leader Larry withdrew it back to its ball. 

“I don’t think that challenger is going to win…” Butz shook his head.

“You think so?” Edgeworth was surprised, “I don't remember you having any sort of skill in battles, Butz…”

“Hey!” Butz took that offence, “I’ve seen him battle a lot, First Larry’s definitely gonna win this one!” 

“Again, I hate to admit, but you have a good point there.” Edgeworth shrugged.

“It’s more of a surprise that you two actually agree on something.” Phoenix looked at his two friends with a confused look as he mumbled to himself, “What kind of world do we live in?”

“This is still better than getting cornered by my boss.” Gym Leader Larry commented as he brought out his final Pokemon, “Go. Staraptor.”

“Ah! Look!” Butz excitedly said. “He’s finally gonna Terastallize Staraptor!”

“But isn't this Pokemon already part Normal type?” Phoenix brought up his point, “What’s the point of Terastallizing?”

“Don’t you get it, Nick!” Butz turned to his friend in an attempt to lecture him, “Since it's already a Normal type and it has a Normal Tera Type, its attack increases to x2! He’d be even way stronger than he is now!”

“I taught him that…” The chef spoke up, “Second Larry, here took an embarrassing amount of time to even understand Terastallizing after all.”

“Well I…” Butz could only muster as he sweat bullets.

“No wonder you are referred to here as “Second” Larry.” Edgeworth stifled another laugh, “You are the same as ever… Second Larry.”

Phoenix could only laugh as a response.

“Shut up, Edgey! You too Nick!” Butz shot back, “Some friends you guys are! I’m just going to ignore you two and just keep watching this battle.”

Just then, a stream of spectators came in through the restaurant and started cheering for the Gym Leader and the challenger. “Show us what you’ve got Larry! And you too, kid!”

“Well, you heard the good folks…” Gym Leader Larry said as he stretched his legs to prepare for the next move, “I suppose I can put on a bit more of a show.”

“Here it comes…”

Gym Leader Larry then pulled out his Tera Orb and it activated. A swirling wave of energy poured into the Orb as he casually adjusted his tie from the force. With his signature toss, the orb landed on top of Staraptor and it spread its energy, covered the Pokemon with crystals and broke open to reveal the body coated with said crystals, and a diamond shaped jewel on top of its head.

The challenger followed suit and Terastallized their Pawmot to a pure Electric Type. 

“Hurry Pawmot! Use Thunderbolt!” the challenger commanded immediately and the pokemon obeyed just as fast. With a burst of power from the Terastal energy, and the rub of its cheeks, the huge electric bolt erupted from it and attacked the Pokemon with full force, and paralyzed it in the process. “Yes! Great job Pawmot!”

“Oh no…” Butz said with a smile, “This kid just made a terrible mistake.”

“I think it’s time to show you that real life isn’t all just being true to yourself…” Gym Leader Larry then shook his head and stretched out his hand, “Staraptor, Use Facade.”

Staraptor cried out as it gained more power of it's own Terastal energy and swung its body around to let its opponent believe it was still paralyzed then immediately charged straight with even greater power towards the Pawmot.

The Tera crystals shattered from Pawmot and it fainted.

In a panic, the challenger threw in their last pokemon but it was to no avail and was defeated soon after.

The audience cheered for another victory for their Gym Leader, but some also gave encouraging cheers for the challenger.

“Good job, kid.” Gym Leader Larry commended the challenger, as the Tera energy dissipated from his Staraptor. “Better luck next time.”

“Th-thank you!” The flustered challenger gathered their pokeballs and rushed out of the restaurant to the nearest Pokemon center.

Eventually the crowd dispersed and Gym Leader Larry walked back to his seat, sat down once more, and continued his meal as if nothing had happened.

“Amazing battle as always, First Larry!” The chef was the first to compliment.

“You did great out there, man!” Butz patted him at the back.

“Second Larry is right.” Phoenix added, “You’re really good.”

“Impressive battle.” Edgeworth finished as he also finished his meal.

“It’s just a job.” Gym Leader Larry said as he swallowed his next rice ball, “You eventually learn how to be good at it.”

“Yeah, but you see…” Butz brought up, “That's why they call you, “The Exceptional Everyman!” You look like your typical, average, run-of-the-mill, businessman, but you’re strong in a pokemon battle! Everyone who sees it for the first time gets thrown off by you!”

"If you say so…" Gym Leader Larry shrugs. "I just do my job, enjoy my food, and head home."

“I guess when you put it that way…” Phoenix added, “It really is just a job to you, nothing glamorous about it.”

“Simplicity is the strongest.” Gym Leader Larry continued as he ate, “We don't need to have everything to be flashy and special in order for it to be powerful.”

“It would explain why the rest of Medali seem to refer to you with such a title.” Edgeworth concluded, “Simple yet exceptional.”

“I guess you're right.” Gym Leader Larry finished his meal, “Well, I gotta go, lunch break is almost over…” 

“Wait a sec!” Phoenix realized., “This is your lunch break?”

“Yes.” Gym Leader Larry replied as he stood up from his seat. “They give me a longer one to compensate for the fact I’m a Gym Leader. But I have other duties back at the office to attend to after this.”

“So you really are just an everyman, huh?” Edgeworth gave him a smirk.

“That’s what I am.” Businessman Larry replied as he turned to bow at the three, “It was nice meeting you all. Hope to see you back here, the food’s good after all."

And with that, The Exceptional Everyman Larry, turned away, paid for his meal, and left the restaurant.

“See, I told ya this was something special.” Butz jabbed his elbow at Phoenix, “Good food and good battles, with the exceptional everyman!”

“You do tend to befriend a lot of interesting people, I’d give you that Second Larry.” Phoenix rubbed the sore spot on his abdomen from the elbow.

“Indeed…” Edgeworth continued, “Then I suppose we should from now on call you Second Larry instead.” 

“Since there's definitely a better Larry than you.” Phoenix gave out a laugh.

“You guys really are the worst friends ever, you know that!” Butz, of course, felt incredibly insulted, “I should sue you both for defamation!”

“Well good luck with that, Second Larry.” Edgeworth shrugged off the childish insult, “If there is any lawyer who could even dare to face either of us, that is someone I’d like to meet.”

“Why you— OBJECTION!!"

“It would even be funnier if his name was Larry too.” Phoenix couldn't help but add to the joke, “Then you'd be Third Larry for sure.”
