I'm laughing so hard at the fact that everyone is falling in love with LA Buggy. Our king falling upwards even in live action form.
Staying true to character always ✊ Oda could’ve picked out any actor to play Buggy, but he said yes to the stunning Jeff Ward, which just means that Buggy is canonically meant to be attractive. He knew what he was doing…
But honestly, this just goes to show how much heart and care is put into Buggy’s character in both the comic and the show. It’s not a coincidence that he has such a good reception, it’s because Oda genuinely loves Buggy and gives his character so much substance and attentive detail. Buggy’s always been the iconic babygirl.

alright here we go…. these are my One Piece: Live Action thoughts and critiques now that i’ve finished binge watching the show!
overall rating is a 6.5/10 on a Netflix original scale with some episodes being below that and some being above. (EDIT: before you throw tomatoes pls know that i highly enjoyed it!!!!! just had some thoughts on how it could have been improved in my own humble opinion!!)
(spoilers under cut)
initial praises:
the FUCKING CAST. they are all so good!!!! i admittedly had low expectations for some characters prior to watching (i.e. shanks, mihawk, garp) due to how iconic and mysterious they are, but i feel like they all did a phenomenal job bringing these characters to life
THE STRAW HAT CHEMISTRY. from the second i saw the cast interviews, i knew they were gonna be perfect, but the core cast truly was brilliant together
BUGGY 🗣️🗣️🗣️ listen. i’ve always been a buggy denier…… i understood the Power of His Ponytail for others, but never really got it for myself. that being said…….. JEFF WARD POPPED OFF. imo buggy had potential to be either just okay or the worst part of the show. and jeff, my guy, you knocked it out of the fucking park
visuals!!!!! the practical set was beautiful, and the coloring was so perfect for how fantastical the one piece world is. it was really immersive and i was super impressed!
makeup and costumes were fabulous. i know people clowned arlong’s design from the trailers, but i always really liked it bc of its practical effects and watching his full performance in the show was icing on the cake. the fishmen all looked incredible! absolutely spot on from the costume and makeup departments
drunk usopp???? need it like i need air
suave but unpervy sanji???? please, oda, bring him back i BEG
luffy’s curly hair 😭
zoro and nami’s interactions?? chef’s kiss. loved how they made each other work for their trust and friendship
all the little cameos to diff characters in wanted posters
the cgi they did use looked so fucking flawless. like the sea king and buggy’s devil fruit? it was truly a spectacle
the bad and the ugly:
the writing. i have to say, while i thought some parts were fine, i thought other aspects of the writing (namely the parts NOT written by oda) were lacking and stereotypical. it seemed like there was a real need in the writers room to spell everything out for the audience about the one piece world, when i really don’t think that is necessary. part of the charm is how whimsical the world is and how unhurried the east blue beginning arc felt. and they inserted a lot of weird bullshit i felt didn’t fit the original story
on that same note: the straw hat bonding was weak imo. i am a nami-stan to the day i die, but i really felt like they used her character to override the developments between luffy and the other straw hats. i think having nami present in axe-hand morgan’s base with luffy/zoro immediately discredited the initial bond that the two boys were supposed to have. i get why they did it, and i never thought i’d see the day where i wouldn’t want to see more nami, but i feel like her presence during that moment, her convo with kaya, and her staying for baratie really stole important bonding moments from luffy and each of the boys.
similar to that: luffy’s characterization. (note: i adore iñaki! this has nothing to do with him, just how the writers wrote luffy.) i don’t think the writers knew how to approach writing luffy or even zoro for that matter—which, to be fair, they are difficult characters to write. but i think they got very focused on trying to explain or make sense of luffy for the viewers when i truly think the appeal to pre-time skip op is how both the audience and the straw hat crew are constantly learning more and more about who luffy is through his actions. and in tandem, they didn’t know how to flesh out luffy and zoro’s relationship. where animanga luffy and zoro are bonded because they innately seem to just get one another, i think the LA writers didn’t trust that either their script or the actors portraying them could get that across as well without having them literally spell it out for us. and in turn, i think it really watered down their connection when that bond should be one of the absolute strongest.
okay i’m beginning to realize that all my critiques have to do with writing
like, they didn’t show us how much each village comes to love the straw hats???? which is a HUGE part of why we and everyone in the world adores them??????????
little (and big) things about the characters that got lost in the LA: zoro’s sense of humor, usopp’s love of bugs (seriously, he wouldn’t be spooked by a damn spiderweb, cmon), nami being a weather prodigy, usopp being a sniping prodigy, bellemere and nojiko having hope bc infant nami was laughing, luffy only doing stuff bc he wants to, luffy and zoro not caring about the details of nami’s history, sanji bonding w luffy bc he was strong and kind and joining because luffy asked him to, helmeppo’s falling out w his father (like if you’re gonna put so much of him in there at least set up his backstory correctly???), arlong seeing zoro’s wound from mihawk, arlong park walk???!, and so many other things honestly…..
in general, the whimsy of the world was lacking. so much of what sets one piece (especially at the beginning) apart from other shows is how much fun it is. i get that netflix wanted to netflixify this world, but that’s not why we fell in love w the show. we want to see them goofing off, we want to see all the silly, ridiculous jokes. we want the hilarity of it all and how each character (no matter how cool) is still subject to being a fool at times. usopp’s character really brought a lot of life to the show after he was introduced, which i am infinitely grateful for, but i think the writers forgot the core of the show: the fun of it all.
OH. and here is my biggest gripe of them all……. THE FUCKING MARINES. like holy shit, i didn’t realize i was watching a fucking military propo??? i understand they wanted to make koby more relevant for the story but fuck, did we really need fifteen minutes every episode dedicated to the marines???? i loved koby and garp’s actors, but all the focus on them (WHEN THEY ARENT EVEN IN THE EAST BLUE MUCH AT ALL) really soured me on their characters tbh. they robbed us of so much time that could have been spent on any of the above issues listed just for the sake of adding fish-eye-lens close-ups of them shootin’ the shit with each other. it’s like they didn’t want new viewers becoming unsympathetic to the fucking military even tho oda specifically wrote marines as antagonists lmao. truly, i think all the issues i had w the show could have been fixed if they simply didn’t make so much of it about garp and koby.
along w that thought: someone—anyone—please tell me why they needed a garp and luffy confrontation in this first fucking season. please, help me understand. because imo, that was the most atrocious thing they could have done. they literally cut out KEY PARTS to the arlong park arc just to make room for it. the arlong park bit was so badly fumbled imo. making nojiko and the villagers actually hate nami instead of pretending to??? TOMATO TOMATO TOMATO. saying nami asked to join arlong instead of him forcing her to?? FUCKING AWFUL. having luffy chase nojiko down for the story instead of his “i don’t need to know it, i just need her to rely on us”???!!!! fine, go ahead and erase a crucial part of his character. and don’t even get me started on how garp’s moment completely replaced nami’s iconic “goodbye” to coco village and genzo telling luffy not to make her cry. seriously, i could go on for hours about those episodes alone.
additionally, they made the whole “luffy didn’t tell us about his grandpa being a marine” thing like an issue in the crew when that is not at all how it should have gone. the entire point of garps original intro as luffy’s grandpa in animanga is that we AND the straw hats have spent enough time with luffy to understand that he doesn’t say more than what needs to be said. while we were all surprised, no one (not even his crew) are upset about him withholding that. so to introduce garp so early in the plot and then make it a whole moment of dissent for the crew is fucked up and pointless.
i really think they only added so much of the marines because they were worried there weren’t enough “stakes” to push luffy and the crew forward in the narrative, but that is utter bullshit because the ENTIRE point of the east blue arc is that it’s BEFORE luffy ever has a bounty—before he ever is being truly chased—so EVERYTHING he does is simply for the pure sake that he WANTS TO. and that is precisely why each crew member loves him. that’s why WE love him.
last but not least: where tf was hatchan??? ☹️
overall, my problem with the LA so far is that i feel as if the writer’s don’t have a full grasp on the straw hats, and while they were writing the story, things that should’ve been central to their personas got left behind. it felt like since they didn’t feel like they understood luffy as a character, they tried to overcompensate by making him into something he isn’t.
the outline for everything was there and i think it was still a very fun watch, but im left longing for the magic and catharsis of the original story. in the end, it was entertaining but really just made me want to rewatch the anime to get the full effect of oda’s wonderful storytelling

Kim Jong Un was shopping at some fucking random store in North Korea, when he found a copy of his favorite movie, Safelight starring Evan Peters.
"Boy oh boy, this looks like a swell time" said Kim Jong Un to himself before dropping the movie into his shopping cart.
Kim then went over to the checkout line before scanning it. The cashier then said "one copy of Safelight , that will cost you 50 cents."
Kim Jong Un glared at the cashier with a murder in his eyes. The cashier then nervously said "ok, 40 cents."
Kim Jong Un continued not saying anything. He just continued giving that glare as the cashier said "20 cents?"
Kim's glare got even more serious as the cashier said "ok its free! Please don't hurt me!"
Kim then happily put the movie in his pocket and began to leave the store. Before he left though, he looked at one of the many guards surrounding him, and made head cutting motions with his hands while gesturing to the cashier.
Immediately several guards grabbed the cashier while he yelled "NO, NOOOOOOOOOO!"
Kim Jong Un then went home to enjoy his new movie.
Kim Jong Un came home and pulled out his fucking dvd player. He put the cd in, grabbed some Caprisun, and plopped himself on his couch, prepared to have a good time.
The normal dvd title screen for Safelight, but instead of Evan doing his classic finger wagging pose, the notorious Jeff Ward from a Pegging to remember, showed up instead!
"WHAT DA FUCK IS THIS?" yelled Kim Jong Un.
"You gonna get raped son" said Jeff Ward before reaching through the TV and pulling Kim Jong Un in.
"NOOOOO! I AM KIM JONG UN, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Kim Jong Un now stood in a new world, but this wasn't the world he was used to, rather, this was the X Men World of Marvel.
"Woah" said Kim Jong Un to himself.
Kim Jong Un then noticed that he was no longer human, he was now a sexy bitch.
"Wicked" said Kim Jong Un.
Suddenly, Jeff Ward jumped out of the bushes and attacked the leader of North Korea.
Jeff, Emma, and Francine began beating the absolute tar out of Kim Jong Un while the leader of North Korea was helpless to stop them.
Jeff was hitting Kim with a can of Strawberry Dr Pepper, Emma hit Kim with a rolled up Playboy Magazine, while Francine was hitting with his gargantuan ballsack. It was even more brutal than all of the fight scenes in the Deathstalker movies.
Then Kim remembered a technique that was taught to him by his father back when he was a kid.
"SUPER FIST OF THE SWEAT SHOP: MARCH OF THE ARMY OF CHILD SLAVES!" yelled Kim Jong Un.
As he uttered this, over one thousand mindbroken children came and began beating them all up, allowing Kim Jong Un to get away without the pegging pals noticing.
Suddenly, the iconic rad echidna, Evan grabbed Kim Jong Un and pulled him into a small shack.
"You're safe now" said Evan.
Kim Jong Un began squealing in delight at seeing Evan Peters in the flesh.
"I love you Evan Peters. I've had so many so many children in my country taken to slave camps for chuckling, since unlike Evan, you don't do any of that filthy chuckling."
Evan smiled at that remark before saying "I know we just met, but there's something I find really attractive about you."
Kim Jong Un and Evan looked into each other's eyes lovingly, before they embraced one another and began locking lips.
Kim's tongue entered Evan mouth like a deadbeat dad who wants to visit his kid at school while being unaware that his kid is actually a 95 year old prostitute, and Evan moaned like Nikocado Avocado when chomping a new bucket of KFC.
Evan then bent over Kim Jong Un, and instead of sticking his dick in his ass, he pulled out a can of Old Spice Body Spray and shoved it up the leader of North Korea's ass.
Kim Jong Un moaned in delight, pleasing Evan. Evan then pulled out a can of sprayable Oxi Clean and shoved that up Kim Jong Un's ass too.
Kim Jong Un once again moaned in delight before Evan decided to begin doing some anal fisting. Everytime he fisted Kim Jong Un, a cartoon sound effect straight out of Tom and Jerry would play.
As Kim Jong Un felt himself about to cum, Evan pulled out the sex toy to end all sex toys and placed it on his right hand.
The Power Glove
Evan inserted this holy artifact into Kim Jong Un's ass and Kim felt himself about to go to Heaven as Evan thrusted his fist in and out of the dictator's asshole.
Kim Jong Un immediately came and the Power Glove was so holy that Kim's cum was colored like gold.
"Thank you lover" said Kim to Evan.
"Anytime, now let's go and take down the pegging polyamorous group" said Evan.
The two lovers then highfived before going to go and fight Jeff Ward and his two whores to the death.
Jeff Ward had now killed all 1000 of the children that Kim Jong Un summoned to fight them and were now currently slaughtering all of the inhabitants of Mobius because they are super meanypants.
Kim yelled "JEFF WARD! WE'RE CALLING YOU OUT!"
Jeff stopped killing the woodland creatures before one of them said "so, it seems like you've come back for round two?"
Kim Jong Un said "yes, I'm here to wipe you from this world, once and for all."
All three pegging whores laughed before one said "and what makes this attempt different from the last one?"
Kim Jong Un smirked and triumphantly said "because I have been anally fisted with the Power Glove!"
Jeff just fell silent after hearing that.
No one said anything for five minutes. The environment was dead silent as the three stupid bitches were trying to figure out what the fuck he just said.
Finally, Emma spoke up and said "wut?"
Evan jumped out of the bushes and said "ready partner?"
Kim Jong Un said "you know it."
Evan then pulled out his trademark weapon, a bowling ball, while Kim Jong Un pulled out his iconic weapon, a can of SpaghettiOs.
The pegging pals then pulled out their trademark weapons too, flip-flop shoes, before rushing our heroes.
Kim Jong Un, Evan, and the pegging pals began fighting each other, hand to hand, and our iconic heroes were actually managing to do pretty well against these stupid bitches.
Francine screamed as Kim pulled out a fruit by the foot, wrapped it around his neck, before punching him off a cliff, causing the first stupid bitch to be hanged.
Emma yelled out in pain as Evan bashed him on the head with his bowling ball, before he slumped over, dead from brain damage.
Jeff screamed “ Nooooo you can’t kill me!”
Kim Jong Un responded to this by pulling the pin on his SpaghettiOs can and throwing it at the pegging thirsty bitch.
The can then exploded in a bright blast of noodly goodness, taking Jeff with it.
Kim Jong Un said "wow, that was a hard fight."
Evan said "yeah, I didn't think we were going to make it."
Kim Jong Un and Evan then looked at each other once again, before they immediately started going down on each other once again.
And you know what? Fuck it, Meth anon was there too, and Kim Jong Un and Evan double teamed him because they were just awesome that way.
As Kim Jong Un had sex with Evan Peters and Meth anon, he saw his father, Kim Jong IL giving him a thumbs up from Heaven.
Kim Jong Un flashed a thumbs up back before continuing to passionately making love.
This fanfic has been brought to you by North Korean sweatshops.
i don't think there's anything that will ever be posted to this blog that will surpass the creative genius of this story. i'm not even just saying that because i'm stoned. it was amazing from start to finish.

A Review of “One Piece (2023)”
Tumblr media
One Piece is one of my favourite manga. I was genuinely flabbergasted when I heard that there was going to be a live-action adaptation of this. One Piece is a very weird and wacky world that I just don't believe could be brought accurately into live-action. Additionally, Netflix was going to make it and they have failed miserably with manga/anime live-action adaptations. Death Note completely butchered the characters and was not a faithful story. Cowboy Bebop had none of the charm of the anime with terrible writing and also not a faithful story. My expectations for this were at an all-time low but the creator of One Piece, Oda, was involved in this project. So maybe 3rd time is the charm?
Tumblr media
The first thing I noticed from the first couple of episodes, was the stunning set designs and costumes. I was surprised at the amount of practical sets that felt like great replications of places in the source material. The iconic ship, The Going Merry, looks 1 to 1 exactly like it does in the manga and it looks beautiful! CGI is implemented to further bring the world to life but it is never overused or bad to look at. The characters look exactly like the source material from their clothes to their hair. They use practical make-up and prosthetics for non-human characters and they look great! The action scenes are also very well choreographed while having no shaky camera which is awesome! Nami, Zoro and Sanji have such terrific fight scenes. I was worried about how they would do Luffy's rubber powers in live action but it is done very well. The music score by Sonya and Giona is terrific. They created a score that really gives off the adventure and pirate feeling. They also do an awesome cover of the iconic opening "We Are" as well.
Tumblr media
On that note, the casting of the Straw Hats is perfect. Inaki Godoy captures the optimism and silliness of Luffy without feeling cringy. Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skylar manage to bring the core personalities of their characters Nami, Zoro, Usopp and Sanji to live action respectfully. For example, Nami still has her flirty scenes to trick people and Sanji still has the flirty treatment with women albeit no longer bothering them which is an understandable change. The villains are also well cast with each of them pulling off the character in live action phenomenally. The great highlight is Jeff Ward as Buggy who somehow manages to be incredibly scary yet silly which is exactly who Buggy is.
Tumblr media
One of the biggest reasons for the failure of previous adaptations by Netflix is the butchering of the story. I can thankfully say that this is not the case in One Piece (2023). The main core of each story is still here and the iconic moments are replicated here as well. It was awesome seeing the moments I loved in the anime being done here in the same manner. The adventurous and fun yet violent nature of One Piece is still retained here. There are changes to the story which is understandable because they need to put the story in an 8-hour series. For example, they removed side characters like Johnny, Yosaku and Jango or changed how fights are resolved and how arcs end. Nonetheless, these changes don't hurt the series and it is quite impressive that they managed to still tell the same story. The tone of the show is a bit more serious than the source material but this is also understandable. Manga and Anime are different types of media than a live-action TV show. Not everything can be brought to live-action without coming off as weird but the showrunners understood that and struck a good balance between serious and wacky fun without leaning too hard in either direction.
Tumblr media
There are some bigger changes in the story such as introducing the character of Garp very early and having Arlong as the villain in Baratie arc instead of Kreig. I am kind of mixed on these changes as I do understand why but they also create some problems. The introduction of Garp who is chasing Luffy is done to create some tension and stakes for the characters that would be present for the whole series. It was also done to give perspective for the Marines in the form of Koby who has a bigger role in this series compared to the source material. Garp comes off as more scary than he normally is, to the point that he almost feels nothing like Garp should be at times. His character has weird tantrums that feel a bit odd as well. The subplot of the marines also ends up taking a lot of screen time from the main plot which leads to the main story feeling short at times. Arlong's early introduction was also done to hype him up as the big bad of the series. The problem is that the Baratie arc is meant to be focused on Sanji but he ends up feeling overshadowed in his arc by Zoro and Nami who are now more focused. Sanji's decision to leave and join Luffy isn't as well built up because of this change. The creators did very well with the 2 episode limit per arc but the Baratie arc suffered the most.
Tumblr media
Overall, I honestly can't believe that the one I thought would be the most unadaptable, ended up being the best adaptation Netflix has done so far. They managed to accurately bring the world of One Piece to live action, which is quite an achievement. It seems Netflix has finally learnt from their mistakes and started respecting the source material. Them bringing in the creator to be more involved seems to have also paid off. I'm not sure how many seasons can be made for this considering how long-running this series is but I certainly want a season 2 if this is the quality of the show!

Ok, I have questions to make. I have been reading a few questions here by some anonymous lately, I would like your truest opinion. Why is it soo bad what other people posts in their IG account related to Jeff , is it some kind of a crime what they're doing there ? Have they done something bad, by tagging him in their posts, just because they feel inspired by editingtheir photos and mentioning him ? I'm just curious, I mean, it's something different to see, not everything the same as most people do, it gets kinda repetive. I don't know, but I think people should respect of what they do. Because for now, those people haven't disrespected Jeff nothing at all. If it would, he would have opened his mouth and said it to them, don't you think? And i believe the reason why Jeff has only selected posts in his tagging side, think... maybe it's because he get tons of tags about him and he just pick what he likes, that's it. Just giving my 2 cents here. Thank you, and you do have a wonderful blog, congrats. 😉
hi there anon, first of all I want to say thank you for your side of things related to this discussion we've been having about Jeff's instagram page and his tagged posts and the fan pages dedicated to him too. I've always been of the mindset that everyone should have a chance to voice their thoughts and feel safe enough to share their opinions over here; and I hope whoever chooses to reply to this post will be respectful of your ideas, because I do see your point in all of this.
And I do agree, nothing has been inappropriate or in any shape of form disrespectful either - trust me, I may not have gone to look myself, but I have heard of a loooot more.... *ahem* let's say... problematic things from different fandoms that happen on IG in regards to celebs getting tagged in certain pictures and posts, which definitely is not what's happening here at all! I don't believe that expressing one's creativity and sharing it with others and even tagging Jeff is a crime, we all have the freedom to make art and put it out in the world, photo-edits and otherwise, when they're mindful of his life and pictures that he shares with us. In fact, I do think that there's a wonderful sense of community that he could very well know about which shows him that he has so many fans who love him and adore him and celebrate his works - fandom is very important to actors and actresses and all other artists so everything you say lines up.
If anything, the "issue" - forgive me for wording it that way, it's the first thing I thought of - is seemingly with tagging Ashley in posts when her account has been made private; again, every person here has their own interpretation of whether it's good or bad, right or wrong, uncomfortable or not. Her profile used to be open to everyone and now that it's not, perhaps she did so in order to reclaim a sense of privacy; she isn't part of the celebrity world, she's the family member of someone who is and I would think in that sense, there could be no harm in tagging her when the posts are respectful and appropriate, but... I can understand why someone else would think the opposite.
In the end, I would say that my personal opinion is that the line between celebs and fans has been known to blur on occasion, not specifically with Jeff Ward mind you, this is a more generalized observation of fandom culture I've witnessed over the last decade or so - there's two sides to everything, we've got the fans who simply just want to meet their favorites at a convention, speak to them and tell them how their lives have been changed because of their impact through their work, get a photograph and/or autograph and share something that they've made. Or even just tag them on IG if they can't reach a physical appearance, because social media has made that connection possible.
On the other side though, there has been and will always be fans who sit behind a computer screen and sometimes a grey icon (not targeting anyone again, anonymous is an option on my blog to let you all have your privacy, so please don't misunderstand that I mean you or any of my anons here, I love getting asks, even if I don't know who they're from, it's actually fun to imagine and hope there's a dozen or more of you out there who talk to me!) and sometimes even off anon, they spout hateful comments and make remarks about people's looks and fashion style and whatnot.
So... as long as we're mindful of the boundaries between celebrities, their families, their friends and us fans, keep everything clean and respectable and appropriate and healthy then... I think we're good :)
I do appreciate hearing from you dear anon! I hope I covered everything you had questions about and if not, feel free to send a follow-up or ask me something else! apologies for this getting a bit long :p I am all for positive discussions and debates with everyone who follows me because it goes to show that we all care about Jeff in our own way and that's what unites us, differences and similarities alike!
