Heeeeeeeey, sorry to bother you with a weird request but I need help 😅 So I wanna reread a Simpatico fic but I sadly didn't save it and I can't find it and since you're one of the most knowledgeable Simpatico person I know, I was hoping you or your followers would be able to help
So the premise of the fic that the Lost Light crew got teleported to the tfa universe and mtmte Brainstorm and Perceptor searched for tfa Brainstorm and found him and introduced him to tfa Perceptor and the two instantly clicked
Sorry if that's not very helpful and you can definitely delete this if you want 😅 Have a good day/evening and I love your content! <3
Oh god u asked the wrong person about fics ToT I read them incredibly sparingly, tho I really do want to get more into reading them aaahhgh (I have a backlog)
Hopefully someone else out here can help you out in this department :'D Good luck on finding it!

Spider-Man: Into/Across The Spiderverse Playlist Reccs
Hey! Does anyone have any song recommendations for characters from ITSV and ATSV? If so, reblog or comment your song/s, and who they're for, please!
(Looking for Peter B. Parker, Spot, and Hobie specifically, but all character songs are welcome!)
I'm trying to make an epic playlist while I'm in my Spider-Man obsession, I only have songs for Peter Noir and one for Miles atm, (some Frank Sinatra songs for Noir and Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala for Miles), but if anyone has any good songs, send them my way!
Thanks!
I'll make the playlist on Spotify and link the complete playlist after I get more songs, for those who are interested. :)

fic rec friday.
This week’s theme: Rec a ‘gateway’ fic - a fic that you read and it was so good it lead you to read multiple works by the same writer.
Tag a fic and explain why it was a gateway fic / what you liked about it. Then tag some people to see what everyone else is reading. Spread the love! Lola will do the round up on Sunday again, so if you’re still recc-ing on Saturday, no pressure. Please tag @welcometololaland or #fic rec friday so she can compile the masterlist!
thank you @reyesstrand @rmd-writes @welcometololaland for the tag! I'm gonna cheat and share all these beautiful works.
wresting angels by @carlos-in-glasses - one of those fics I wish I could read again as if for the first time, because I was completely captivated by the magic and the imagery; by the delicate thread of grief weaved into a night of celebration. I jump at each new fic Jenny posts (even though I'm so behind on my reading) because the care put into every fic is so lovingly apparent.
what you see will be by fiddlersgreen - I just finished this last night and it's one of those reads that left me speechless. It's an AU that's vivid and rich, with a delicious slow-burn and -I can't stress this enough- beautiful prose. I can't wait to read what else this author has written because this fic gripped me by the throat and had me reading wayyy past my bedtime.
literally anything and everything by @paperstorm - I honestly can't remember which of Andie's fics I read first, but I plan to reread em all and catch up ones I haven't yet read (and bombard with comments because I'm slacking like that). The way the Missing Moments series plays out like additional episodes in my head, I feel like I should send over a bouquet of flowers as a thank you. For the sake of the game, I'll mention A Decade in a Moment because this one brought me to literal happy tears.
I'm incredibly late to the game so if anyone wants to join, consider this me tagging you <3

Frequently Asked Questions
What is this thing? It's a Baldur’s Gate 3 Fanfic and Writing blog! The Baldur’s Writers III server is a group of likeminded BG3 fanfic writers, and this blog was designed to share our work, among others. We post fic recs, writing advice and memes, and other similar content!
What’s with the fic recs? Our main content is fic recs! Every week, a theme is randomly chosen, then members of the Baldur’s Writer III discord can submit their fic recs. Additionally, we will occasionally post recs for individual fics from writers in our server, should the fic not easily fit into a singular theme.
When do themed rec lists go out? Tuesdays, Morning to Mid-day US.
Who is doing the reccing and coming up with themes? The fic recs are submitted by the amazing authors and readers in the Baldur’s Writers III Discord server. The rec list compilation process (and thus the themes) are currently managed by Professor-Rye.
What are Content Notes and why does some stuff show up in them? The purpose of a content note is kind of like eating something with the message 'contains nuts'. It's a way of letting people avoid stuff they might be happier not reading. Having something in a content note isn't a moral judgment or saying that people should avoid it, it's just acknowledging that people have reasons to avoid certain types of content. Someone might have a content note on pregnancy to allow people who recently had a miscarriage avoid it, note somethings a WIP to not make people get their hopes up, or note trans vaginal penetration because the subject can cause dysphoria. Some stuff we require content notes on. Some stuff we don't. If something has the note 'choose not to warn', it means either the reccer or the author chose not to add anything further. This can be to avoid spoilers, to avoid the crippling anxiety that comes with trying to describe something correctly, or some secret third thing.
Can I rec if I'm not part of the discord? Hey, sorry - it's not that your opinion is worth less than anyone else on the discord, it's that we're trying to keep this a manageable amount of work. BW3 is pretty big, but it's smaller than the entire internet - and the more people who are touching the internal workings, the more chances for fuckery.
Are there other rec lists like this? Yes! This reccing system was originally designed for a server in the Critical Role fandom, but has since branched out into other lists. Here is a collection of some of them, if you would like to see how else the system has been used. Aeor Is For Reccing | Critter Genfic Events | Critter Rarepair Reccs
So can I steal this idea? Yes! Please steal this idea! We’d love nothing more than for rec lists to make a comeback, and so have put the tools we’ve created out for anyone to copy and use themselves. The original designer, Operafloozy, automated away most of the formatting work and has gotten the amount of time spent on maintenance down to less than ten minutes a week. Experience with Google Sheets/Excel and HTML is recommended, but the documents have a variety of excellent explanations and guides, so they are not explicitly required. If you have any questions, feel free to message Professor-Rye.
Someone commented on my fic to say I was recced here. I'd rather not be told about it, thanks. No worries! Just send either Professor-Rye an ask (or contact us a different way if you can find us), and we'll put your name on an opt-out list. (You can put yourself on the Opt Out list preemptively if this is a worry you have).

I'm someone who is currently in tech (Web design and development intern) and wants to expand my skillset and learn new things, both for work reasons (I'd like to move into IT as a long term career, and have a customer support internship lined up as a part of that.) and just because I think tech is really cool. One issue though is that I have some attention span and energy issues due to a variety of mental health problems I have.
Do you happen to know of many sources of reliable tech education that is fairly easy to digest and process? Especially if those sources involve encouraging hands on learning or explain why things work the way they do, as those both tend to help me stay engaged.
I salute you. I wanted to get out of IT as fast as possible, but that may be a product of the terrible work environment of my University IT department.
In any case, I can't guarantee these are the best, as there's so much tech education out there (Anyone with resources they want to share please RB and add more. Maybe I'll make a master list somewhere). My submissions will also be focusing on free resources, just because I don't want to recommend any paid product I haven't used myself, and so the list becomes more accessible.
Full disclaimer, most of what I've used personally are relevant to programming, so my best reccs are these two.
For general coding, I learned a lot in highschool on Codecademy. You learn here by reading a short blurb on a topic, then completing a coding challenge that reinforces/showcases the topic with tons of explicit instructions and extra hints/guides if you need them. As a teen this was the perfect resource for me, and honestly still better than a lot of my college courses where the prof just threw us to the wolves.
If you want cybersecurity/hacking experience, TryHackMe is one I hear recommend a lot. I haven't used it much myself, but the few lessons I've done were fun and informative. They have built-in activities and virtual machines to let you actually do the hacking in the same web page as your tutorial. They also have a learning path about Web fundamentals that eventually goes into more security focused info but the first few lessons on "How the Web Works" is a great intro to web infrastructure for those who don't know a lot about it.
(After edit addition, TryHackMe and Codecademy both have segmented lessons and projects, so even if you only use them for a short time each session, you can make visible progress and learn)
If you're looking for a reading list, Teach Yourself Computer Science can come off as kinda pretentious sometimes, but as it was written for high-and-mighty self taught engineers to help them fill in the gaps in their knowledge, I give em a pass b/c it was the only way to get through them. I don't recommend following their plan if you aren't their target, but they have many good, freely accessible book recommendations for many different CS topics if you just want a good book to curl up with and learn about Computer Architecture or Operating Systems.
For a more traditional classroom experience, or as traditional as one can get with online courses, I learned Harvard actually has a lot of their beginner online courses available completely free. Have no idea how that works or if they're any good, but a cursory look shows they have about 20 computer science classes, and a ton of other courses available. The Open Source Computer Science Degree is an insanely cool project where they find freely available courses that meet all the requirements of a Bachelors in CS, minus GEs.
This is all I've got right now. If you/anyone else has more specific topics that aren't covered by this list they want to learn about, send me more asks and I can do some digging to find a good way to learn about that topic.

Do you or your followers (or those lurking here) know some good Kaito/Aoko or Kaito&Aoko fanfic?
In Vino Veritas by Becky Tailweaver- Both Kid and Aoko get a little tipsy at a heist which ends in an unexpected first kiss for both, one which Aoko regrets and leaves Kaito guilty and breathless.
One Week by What We Dream: Aoko saves Kid’s life at a heist and he repays her by answering a question a night for one week.
Point of View (part 1/2) by What We Dream: Aoko hates the Kaitou Kid and yet she keeps going to heists, keeps talking to him. And over those heists, his quiet attention to her makes her feel loved, feel seen. And before she knows it she’s caught between a love she never wanted and the law.
Reichenbach series by athena_crickey: I’ve recced it like a million times but it’s still so so good. Heavy Silence in particular is a great look at how deeply Kaito’s love for Aoko goes. (Same author as What We Dream just this is just their AO3 handle)
A Perfect Act by Candyland: Kid gets shot at a heist and his identity revealed, him and Aoko have a talk. It’s sequel No Little Plans also really good.

JJK characters as people I met before college
Characters include: Itadori, Megumi, Inumaki, Nanami, Gojo, Nobara, Maki, Sukuna, Geto
Warnings: unedited, typed at 12am ❤️
Itadori as the boy I liked for a bit in freshman year. He’s sweet, incredibly athletic, but also a bit bonkers. He shares a good number of passions with you and he also talk a lot. He has a sibling, who’s apparently a skater boy who plays girls. He knows how to cook, but can be a bit stubborn at times. He’s the reason you studied to hard to pass the placement test with, only to end up realizing that he didn’t make it. But he was sweet, even if you later on realized that you two weren’t compatible.
Megumi as the boy I had a crush on in 4th grade. He generally doesn’t talk, always done with his friends wrecking havoc. He’s sweet though, because when he catches your eyes slightly dropping he’ll have you lean onto his shoulder to rest if you’re sitting down. If you guys are out, then he’ll excuse the two of you to go home. He doesn’t talk much at school, but he never hesitates to let you know about how he’s feeling. He always listens to you vent after he finishes talking about his day. He also offers you great advice and helps you cut off people who are damaging to you. Once you got sick and this man cooked you up an entire dish for when you woke up. Another time you went to an amusement park with him and he won you a stuffed animal. He also really liked mangoes so now you use mango flavoured chapstick as a habit. You still talk to him surprisingly enough.
Inumaki as the boy I sat next to in middle school History class. He’s quiet, quiet as hell and hates talking to the class. He will slip in a passive aggressive comment that’s enough to have someone shut up every once in a while though. He refuses to share his notes with anyone but you, and you even get to use his expensive alcohol markers! He lets you use the coloured pencils and ruler he carries around in his backpack and only ever discusses on topics with you. He helps you grab your binder from the shelf when the teacher calls on everyone to, and he also shares homeroom with you. Once you actually got him to talk about his passion for chess and homeboy wouldn’t shut up about it (it was adorable). On top of that he also always letting you raid his lunch for the snacks his parents pack him. He also mentioned that he would miss you in high school. You still have the words ‘I’ll miss you’ written in your yearbook from your final year.
Nanami as the boy I always vented to in sophomore. He comes to you to vent about school and work often, and you’re always there to listen to him. You offer words of advice and you listen to the tea that he heard of from Gojo. He always asks before venting and always apologizes after. You two form trust, as you vent to him quite often as well. He a really good listener, and he would drop the task at hand to make sure you’re ok. He sends you song reccs and animal crossing updates too. He’s really sweet, and you feel safe around him. He would fight a rude person on the street for you if you asked him to.
Gojo as the guy my friend had a fat crush on. He was sweet and you had arrived to the school three days late thanks to an exam, and you had been told that he wrapped your books for you. You find that he’s extremely gifted athletically and he’s the fastest in your school. He talks to lots of people online and even asked one of the girls a grade below you out. He got rejected though. He’s very friendly to you, and he always has a rebuttal to the girl that insults you in class. He also taught you how to insult the girl back . He also comments on how you’ve changed. Cut your hair? He makes a comment. Put yourself hair up/down? He makes a comment. Got a high grade? He makes a comment praising you about it. You two don’t have a crush on each other but he makes sure that you’re comfortable in school and you’re thankful for him.
Nobara as the popular girl in middle school. She’s not obnoxious surprisingly enough, and she gets along with everyone. She’s the center of all the gossip and she always has the freshest tea. She doesn’t talk with you often, but you once let her know a small secret just to find that she was incredibly good at keeping secrets. She fought with her best friend at some point so she started to talk to you about her relationship with her boyfriend. You got a bit annoyed but she helped you get over the crush on your deskmate so you’re thankful for that. She also talked to a ton of guys online and somehow never bumped into an internet pedophile. You didn’t talk to her much but you’re thankful that she was in your class.
Maki as the smart upperclassman I talked to in middle school. She was incredibly sweet, yet she didn’t talk to that many people in her class since they isolated her. She told you about how she learned martial arts and how she had a passion for photography. You followed her Tumblr page of her photos. She offered you great advice and gave you a reason to not talk to the other girls in your class. She had quite a bit on her chest so you let her vent to you. She talked with you lots and you two started drifting apart after one of your old friends transferred back. Maki let you know that it wasn’t you though, it was your friend who was toxic. You met her a year after at a history competition and was pleased to find that she still trusted you. You miss her often when you have no one to talk to.
Sukuna as the classmate that I never talked to. You heard rumours about him, ghosting girls, not wanting to settle down for one person... but you find that he’s actually quite entertaining as a classmate. He doesn’t talk to you much and settles for causing ruckus in the class instead. He always gets on the teacher’s good side and has saved the class from at least 12 science class lectures. He dated an upper classman and had a crush on the popular girl in your class while in that relationship. He also once bet that you’d be able to make a hoop earlier than the other girl and actually won the bet. His family moves around often and he left a year after. He wrote that you would go places in your yearbook before he left. You still wonder how he does from time to time.
Geto as the boy I called dad in high school. He has a resting bitch face, and he’s almost always done with you, but he’s incredibly kind and sweet sometimes. He helps you with homework and he doesn’t hesitate to point out any errors to you. He talks about his shit teachers often and you have to stifle a laugh so you don’t get in trouble with the teacher. He doesn’t have that big of a friend group but knows way to many people for his own good. He’s sweet in his own way, and is always offering you snacks that he brought from home or bought at the cafeteria. He had anxiety and self confidence issues though, and you try to help as much as you can by praising him. He’s lovely, just a bit too much to handle sometimes.
Itadori's the reason I jumped ahead in chinese. Megumi's the reason I have no trouble cutting people who are toxic to me. Inumaki's the reason I turn things in on time and don't procrastinate. Nanami's the reason I bought animal crossing and my switch, and the reason I started talking with my middle school classmates again. Gojo's the reason why I have no trouble speaking up when I have an issue with someone. Nobara's the reason why I got over a pointless crush. Maki's the reason I work hard in school. Sukuna's the reason I get up when I fall down. and Geto's the reason that I survived high school. Each person I've met in my life is more than just a fleeting figure, they are a puzzle piece, and they made me who I am. So yes, I am just a mosaic of everyone I loved, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

also while i am being real and droppin my funnyman filter for a bit just a quick boundary update regarding asks (nothing anyone has done recently i just want this written down for future-proofing):
firstly, i dont know how to respond to asks that are requesting advice for things. i don’t know you, and i don’t know how harsh my response will seem for you. im not a guru, and i especially don’t have advice in regards to writing stuff. im an artist, and for the mcyt fandom specifically, i haven’t even been here very long, and don’t know a lot about the lore pre-march. i can’t help you, go find a blog who is open to giving advice, and who makes the type of content you need help in.
secondly, and similarly to the first part: please don’t send me personal asks about stuff, such as dreams you’ve had (unless its like funny and somehow involved me, which would make sense for you to tell me), or saying things like “[traumatic thing] happened to me but seeing your stuff makes me feel better” because i have a problem with too much empathy (nd thing lol) and im gonna end up worrying way way way too much for someone who is a stranger that i cannot help. also IM a stranger as well. imagine going up to someone at a grocery store and saying that. its weird. please don’t vent into my inbox. i know i have this up in other places but its goin in here too lol.
thirdly, please don’t send me reccs for stuff like music or fics or content creators unless i am specifically asking for them! ngl! i just dont care!
these are all going to go into the carrd when i feel like dealing with it being broken, but for now they’re just gonna be here!
edit: im adding it on here instead of making an entirely new post, but i am now adding on that you please do not send me asks GIVING me advice for things, especially if it’s something about my personal life (unless i specifically ask). if i make a post talking about migraines for example, don’t tell me to go lay in a dark room and take migraine meds. like.... yeah. im 20. im an adult. i know.

Night falls, I'm cast beneath her spell.
An hournite fic -
Summary: Rick has been engaging with a mystery girl online, he hopes that she reveals herself to be his long time crush beth... maybe he gets what he's hoping for. <3
read on AO3
---
Rick had always been good at keeping things to himself. He never understood how some people can go around telling others every aspect of their own lives. He was especially that way in school and on social media. His classmates knew absolutely nothing about him, if you asked them they'd probably just say he's the angry kid with the drunken dad (of course no one knew he’s actually his uncle). Or recently they'll mention how he hangs out with those weird girls all the time, meaning Beth, Yolanda and Courtney. But that's about all the knowledge Rick's peers have about him.
Sitting on his bed rick scrolls through his Instagram feed, where he keeps himself anonymous. A noise comes from his phone to show that he has a notification. It's a message, and there's only one person it can be from. He checks it to see that it's from a user by the name of BubblyGirl04. A grin comes across Rick's face as he reads the notification. Rick and this girl have been messaging non stop for the past months, they've been talking even before he found out about hourman and the JSA.
With a giant smile on his face Rick opens the message to see an image attached, it's a photo of delicious looking pasta. Under it the mystery girl wrote.
Bubblygirl04: So... What do you think? Do i just get better or what?
YellowMustang: It looks amazing, my mouth is actually watering up... And to answer your question, yes, you do in fact get better.
Bubblygirl04: Thanks!! You're too sweet for you own good!! <3
Rick looks up from his phone, his face heats up as his cheeks turn a reddish color. Luckily he was alone in his room, he would die if anyone caught him blushing the way he is now.
BubblyGirl04: So tell me, do you think that i should join the cooking class at our school? I don't want that to make it easier for you to figure me out.
YellowMustang: Join as you please, I don't think the cooking instructor will see you coming. She's probably gonna have to call up Gordon Ramsay to our school.
YellowMustang: Alsoooo... What's so scary about me figuring out who you are??
Bubblygirl04: Lmaoo Gordon Ramsay? No i definitely can't handle the pressure of him tasting my food, i would go into anxiety overload. And we talked about this, I don't think i'm ready to reveal who i am... Not quite yet anyway.. sorry :(
Just like that, he could feel his heart sink in his chest. Like blades being pulled out of it, he would always suggests that she tells him who she is, but she never seems to be ready. But Rick could understand, he wasn't sure if he was ready to reveal himself to her yet. He would never admit it but he was afraid she'd be disappointed. She's sweet, smart, talented and funny, he couldn't imagine losing her because he wasn't good enough.
Yellowmustang: Yeah ok, don't be sorry, i understand.. it's just.. sometimes i wish we could be something real.
Bubblygirl04: We are real?? Are we not??? We talk everyday, and we tell each other everything about our lives?
Yellowmustang: ... It's not real until i get to hold you... It's not real until i get to whisper in you ear that you're mine..
-read-
Rick's mind made up so many situations as to why she didn't reply, it's been forty minutes since he had sent the text and still, nothing. He lays down on his bed with both palms covering his face. He groans when the thought of his message comes across his mind. He wonders if he should get up and do something to distract himself, but honestly nothing can really take him mind of this girl.
A ping can be heard from his phone, Rick jumps up and sees the phone laying at the bottom of his bed. He chuckles with the hope that it's a text from the mystery girl. Leaning forward he grabs the phone and checks the notification. The banner across his phone reads "JSA GC". It was from the imessage group chat that him and the girls made a few weeks back. His excitement toned down when he realized it wasn't from the girl he had hoped.
Courtney: Rick!! WTF!?!??! You're like super late, where are you??!?!
Yolanda: Relax Court, i'm sure he's just held up... Rick we need you here, pat has a whole thing set up for us... You know how he is.
Rick: Sorry, i had something come up. But i'm on my way.
Rick sends the text and quickly gets up and puts on his shoes. He puts his hoodie on and rushes out the door. He knew that if he were any later, he would never hear the end of it from Courtney. He gets in his yellow mustang that belonged to his father, thanks to pat it's now a working engine. Driving to the Pit stop where the group is, Rick couldn't help but ponder on everything that happened with the mystery girl. But he knew he couldn't think about that at practice, he needed to have his full attention on practicing, the injustice society was still out there somewhere and they needed to be stopped.
Arriving at the pit stop entrance Rick is approached by Courtney immediately.
"What the hell rick? It took you long enough, doesn't taking down the ISA mean anything to you?" Courtney lectures.
"Yeah of course it does you know that, i just.. got caught up in something but it's fine now."
Yolanda walks towards Rick as she stands besides Courtney. "You okay rick?" Yolanda questions. She looks at Rick with a sincere concerned look, she could tell something had been bothering him.
Rick pretends not to notice her concern. "Yeah, i'm fine. Can we just get started already." He says while walking further into the pit stop. He notices Pat has dummies of the ISA up again, well at least they aren't as cheesy looking as the ones Courtney destroyed. There are around four cpr dummies on sticks decorated with makeup and costumes resembling the ISA members. Wow, is this what pat spends all his free time doing? Rick thought.
"Rick! Good to see you buddy. Alright now that we're all here, i'll tell you what we're going to be studying today." Pat stated to the four teens as they stand in front of the bleachers awaiting his instructions.
While Pat was rambling on about teamwork and it's important on the field, Rick zoned out after noticing Beth. Something was different, her hair wasn't down as it usually it, it was braided down into crown braids. Rick stared in awe as she shyly looked at Pat while paying close attention to what he was saying, she cared so much about these missions and never missed a single practice. Rick admired her efficiency, he admired her everything.
"Alright so today we're going to be focusing on how your abilities work together on the field. So we will start off with each of you being paired with one another and we'll see how you can use your powers to help each other out. Then we'll do one last practice with all four of you, got it?" Pat explained.
"Got it." The three girls say in unison.
"O-oh, yeah got it." Rick says shortly after them once he's focus is back on pat and off of beth.
Pat sets the dummy of icicle in the center of the room. "Alright first we need Courtney and Yolanda, let's see how stargirl and wildcat can work together to beat icicle." Pat states.
Courtney picks up the cosmic staff from beside her feet, she gets in a fighting stance. "Alright, i was born for this." She lets out eagerly.
"Uhh, Yeah me too!" Yolanda adds on.
"Okay let's go, and while we're practicing, Rick and Beth you guys can wait on the bleachers until it's your turn." Pat explains.
Beth goes to seat in the middle of the bleachers and sits down before taking out her phone and staring at it longingly. Rick's eyes follow her as he can't help but to gaze at her.
"Gee, i get lectured for being late only to be benched? Quite a team we have going here." Rick complains sarcastically before walking to sit next to beth, his legs began to rush because of his excitement of finally be able to be with her all day but he tries to slow down as to not seem too eager.
Booms and zaps can be heard as Courtney and Yolanda practice on the dummies. As always Courtney is complimenting herself after every success and Yolanda is just excited to put use of all the amazing things her cat suit can do. Rick watches them practice for a second before turning to Beth, she still had a sorrowful look on her face as she stared at her phone.
Rick notices she hasn't said a word to him all day, which was unusual of Beth, she's usually the first to initiate every conversation. She didn't ask anyone how their days were or talk about all the amazing things her and chuck talked about, nothing.
Taking a deep breath Rick tries to think of something to say to break the silence. "So... How are you beth?" He asks, sliding closer to her on the bench.
Beth looks up from her phone and towards Rick, their eyes meet. Rick heart begins to beat out of his chest as he glanced into her honey brown eyes.
"Oh hi rick.." Beth says looking up from her phone. "I'm fine... Super excited for practice.. How about you?" Beth says, not sounding like her normal chipper self.
Rick couldn't help but think back to the mystery girl, because for a while he had hoped beth would reveal that she was behind the account. It made sense, both beth and the mystery girl had so much in common. They both are have no siblings, they have distant parents and not to mention their talent for cooking and baking. But Rick thought he was just getting his hopes up, he felt as if he let his existing crush on beth cloud his judgement.
Even though Rick really liked this mystery girl, his heart belonged to beth since the first grade. Ever since she was the only one to remember his birthday (rick's asshat of an uncle was too drunk to bother remembering). She brought him in cupcakes that she made herself, they were chocolate and fudge, with vanilla frosting and the words "happy b day rick" written on top in green frosting. Him and Beth sat together at recces that day and at the cupcakes on the bench.
Rick was never the type to remember specific details, but he could easily go on about the gorgeous blue sundress beth wore that day, he remembered her telling him she wanted to wear something special for his big day. She sang him happy birthday in the most beautiful harmony. He never forgot how beautiful she sounded, even when the teachers couldn't bother to do something for his birthday, he knew he could always count on beth.
"I'm okay i guess." Rick responds fidgeting in his seat.
"Well thats good to hear." Beth says going to look back at her phone.
Rick notices how often she had been staring at her phone screen today, which was fairly unusual. Beth was never the type to use her phone during conversations. "You waiting on a text?" Rick suggests, hoping to get some type of explanation out of her.
Beth jumps and quickly puts her phone away upon hearing those words. "No, it's nothing i was just thinking about something a friend of mine sent me." She says vaguely, turning her vision to rick finally.
He could tell something was wrong, he knew her better than he knew himself. "Hey, how about we let wildcat and stargirl do their thing in here, and go get some fresh air while we wait for our turn." Rick suggests, hoping to get some alone time with beth for the first time today.
"Sure! I could use a breath of fresh air." Beth responds, getting up and walking towards the exist, rick follows behind her.
The summer sun rays touch Rick's skin, the heat was really starting to come in now that summer has officially started. He smiled and watched as beth took off her cardigan and tied it around her waist.
"So, umm beth... I think i have something that i want to ask you, i mean i have been wanting to ask you about this for some time, but i was a little too embarrassed in case you'd say no and it's well its a lot-" Rick rambled on, preparing himself for what he was about to ask, he couldn't believe he had finally gained the courage to do so.
Beth walk closer to rick, placing her hand gently on his arm to calm his nerves. "What is it rick? You know you can tell me anything!" She reassures him.
He did know, thats what made her so amazing. "Beth... I have feelings for you." Rick admits.
For a second it felt like time had stopped as rick glanced at beth's precious face to see her reaction to his words. She gapes her mouth and her eyes widen in shock. He soft hold on Rick's arm becomes a soft grip.
"You... have feelings for me?" Beth asks rhetorically. Rick nods his head in responds, he slightly pouts, afraid of what she might say next.
"Do you feel the same way?" He asks. He could feel his heart beating out of his chest, his palms were dripping with sweat. He felt as if he could faint any second.
Beth eyes light up, her shocked expression turns into a grin. "Oh my god- RICK!?!? OF COURSE I LIKE YOU!" She shouts as she rushes in for a hug.
The warmth of Beth affection calms Rick down immanently, a grin as bright as the sun comes across rick's face as he sighs out of relief. They embrace each other for some time, not even realizing how much time had passed.
Once the hugs ends, beth lays her hands on rick's shoulders, as he grabs her waist slighting to bring her closer to his height. Rick's heart flutters as he stares into beth's eyes, he would always catch glances of her eyes when they hung out, but he was always to shut to look into them for too long. But not today, he felt like he could stare into her eyes forever, looking at her had always made him feel safe.
Rick couldn't even think about the mystery girl, whoever she was, if she wasn't beth, it didn't matter to him.
"Can i confess something to you Rick?" Beth questions, with a look of concern in her eyes.
"You can tell me anything, beth." Rick replies, he knew that she couldn't say anything that would dim his happiness. The girl of his dreams had just admitted to having feelings for him too, this moment was too special to be ruined.
"Well, i've kind of been having a thing with this guy-" Beth begins, those words sank Rick's heart. He never experienced such intense jealousy in his life, the euphoria he felt had slowly began to fade away as he listened to beth speak.
"And well we met online and never actually talked in person, in fact i'm not exactly sure who he is. And I don't know if i'm gonna keep talking to him, because... whenever i talk to him, i've always imagined you." Beth lets out.
Rick's joy comes rushing back upon hearing the end of beth's sentence. She imagined him, even when she talked to other guys, he always dreamed of being on her mind as much as she was on his. Then slowly, rick's logic comes into play when he ponders upon beth's situation with this guy.
He thought back to how he was in an exact similar situation but with a girl, could it be? After all this time imagining beth, could it actually be that Rick was right.
Before he could even think of the words to say in response to beth's confession, rick leans in his lips brushed her, delicately. The warmth from her lips caused rick to shiver as he cupped the back of her neck with his right hand.
After a while, when the kiss is over, rick dazedly stared into beth's eyes again. She stared back, her face surprised but pleased with Rick's response.
"Hey beth." He says.
"Yes?" She replies.
Rick leans into her ear and whispers, "You're mine." He could feel beth freeze up upon hearing him speak those words, just like that it clicked to her as well. "Now it's real." He says finally.

Fanfiction Recommendation: “Fat. Beautiful. Tasty. Ravenous” by MoofyKitten
Title: Fat. Beautiful. Tasty. Ravenous Author: MoofyKitten on AO3/FFN/Wattpad Fandom: BNHA/My Hero Academia Rating: M/MA for a reason. (Detailed sex in over half the posted chapters. Perv away only if you’re of age!) Pairing(s): Fat Gum [Toyomitsu Taishirou] / OFC Found on: AO3
Deets Expect some light spoilers and a mini-rant.
I am an unrepentant fanfiction addict; this is no secret. There are fics I read to wind down after a rough day, fics I read to put myself to sleep in hopes of pleasant dreams, and fics I read to tear my hear into teeny tiny fragments then build it back again better than before. THEN there are fics that don’t fit the mold – the kind that I become so invested in that I physically cannot put off reading that update. THIS, my lovelies, is one of THOSE fics, and it’s earned that place from the early chapters. This story has almost everything I need from a fanfiction, and I have a feeling the rest is just around the corner.
Let’s get the basics out of the way.
The Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are all excellent – I have yet to notice a single error, so either the author and her betas are a force to be reckoned with or I’m just getting so sucked into the story an elephant could sit on me and I’d never notice. The formatting is effective and easy to follow, and the chapters have all been of a nice meaty length, perfect for plowing through in a single sitting only to realize you missed a meal and it’s time for bed and your brain is hopelessly lost in ship-land daydreaming about what’s up next. ...wait, that’s just me? My bad.
Syntax – This one requires an entire section of its own. The fact that I’m having to actually think about how well the author’s varying their syntax says they’re effing nailing it. If a story’s syntax is at all static or the sentence even the slightest bit predictable, it’s easy enough for me to recall it because I’m mentally rearranging the bits that irk or don’t impress me as I read. I can’t even get through a bleepin’ news article or an online recipe without itching to push what I’m reading up to the standards my professors held. It sounds harsh, I know, but please take  my word for it when I say I’m not criticizing anyone. Suffice it to say, if my classes did anything, they made editing so instinctive I can’t turn it off. Confession: I have never found myself rearranging a single phrase in this masterpiece. Arguing with the characters? Encouraging the characters? Begging, pleading, and berating the characters for breaking my heart time and time again by stopping just short of the sugary fluff I can just smell right around the corner? Oh, Hell yes. I’ve done all of that and more, but I’ve never found myself with the urge to grab my red pen and strike out or scooch even a single word.
Something that strikes me about this story above others I’ve given the same rating (Spoiler: there are VERY FEW!) is the sheer variety of the scenes and environments. Sounds silly? Probably, but romances often develop a certain amount of location stagnation, and I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to bust through those patterns. (I mean, the majority of “A New Lease on Life” takes place in the Lair in some room, most commonly a bedroom, the lab, or the kitchen.) This story takes the couple off of familiar and ‘safe’ turf like homes and offices and drags them through countless other places without regard for their sense of comfort. Each scene feels real and multi-dimensional and directly or indirectly influences the characters’ behavior and reactions. It’s awesome. That’s a sign the author has done her people-watching!
Now, about that OC. I’ll readily admit, in the first chapter, I had my reservations. At first glance she seemed shallow, obsessed with appearances and her own view of the world, and – strange as it may sound – too skinny and too attractive. Yes, there’s some personal bias involved there, but the majority was practical rather than emotional. BUT! Because the writer of this story is the same who unleashed the beautiful Kacchako torment Hot-Headed upon me without a single breath of remorse, I gave Aiko a chance. Sure enough, my first impressions were entirely incorrect. The things that bothered me about Aiko? They all had explanation or purpose, and she’s turned out to be a pretty well-fleshed out character...pun intended. As the story progresses we’re seeing sides of her that I hoped for but didn’t expect and each chapter leaves me wondering what we’ll learn next.
Romantic connection. First word: “OOFTA.” The second word, I’d spell out, but it’s a shrill, wordless, begging whine that I cannot translate into English for the life of me. This pairing starts without any sort of romantic connection; it skips straight to the shenanigans and leaves hope that the snugglebunnies will follow eventually. Friends…if you’ve read any of my writing before, you’ll know that I. LIVE. For. The. FLUFF. The awkward mush, the sweaty palms, the am-I-gonna-barf-or-do-I-have-a-crush, the absolutely tooth-rotting sweetness capable of sending a reader headlong into diabetes with a dopey grin and heart eyes - they’re my crack and I love them. This story started with no fluff but it’s been slowly developing in the background. It’s an entirely new situation for me! I feel like I’ve gotten used to eating my dessert first then digging into an equally sweet dinner without a moment to cleanse my palate. This story? It’s like gorging on smoky, meaty St. Louie barbecue for weeks on end with literally just a smear of something sweet as an afterthought. Mind. Frackin’. BLOWN. It turns out I’m more masochistic as a reader than I ever suspected.
Another relationship I want to cover is the building friendship between Aiko and Fat Gum – because nope, she has not managed to mentally connect the half-starved Taishiro she’s climbing like a tree with the big-and-beautiful Fat Gum who owns the agency. Yep. She thinks she’s boning Fat’s beefy little brother. It’d be funny if my heart wasn’t whining for fluff. While frustrating to fluff-starved readers, Aiko not knowing the beefcake and the brother are one and the same provides an intriguing and natural way for her to build an actual relationship with him. This means none of the fetishistic bullarkey rampant in other stories pairing plus-sized male characters with OCs.
What sort of fetishistic bullarkey am I talking about? To name a handful: I love you so lose weight. I love you because you’re big. I’m fat too so it’s okay if we’re together. Blatant fat-fetish disguised as romance. Fat character’s life absolutely revolves around food and it’s gross/nvm it’s okay. Lastly, OC’s only chance at being loved by fat character is feeding them. Maybe to thin folks those don’t sound negative but to those of us who fit the description? NOPE. These don’t make healthy relationships. Using these can turn a well-meaning pairing toxic and frankly, it tends to piss off those of us who – GASP! - accept ourselves no matter our size. These...tropes, let’s call them, have made me hesitant to even try fiction involving plus sized male characters because I’ve been let down so many times. Finding plus sized female characters is easy, especially OCs, but appreciation for the chonky bois isn’t nearly as common. They need love too, dammit!
Ahem. Rant over.
As mentioned before, I ain’t seen any of that crap in this story. This author is treating Fat Gum like she would any other character instead of focusing on the fat. I wish with all my heart that more authors were capable of (and willing to) do the same with Fat Gum, and with other plus sized male characters. I can’t even put into words how much it means to me that she’s doing such a fantastic job portraying a character type that so many writers bungle without ever realizing it. I’ve needed this story my entire life and never realized it wasn’t there; I shudder to think of how long I might have been waiting for it if this author never found the inspiration to do so.
If I don’t shut up now, I fear I never will. I love this story that much. Moving on.
Warnings
Explicit sexual content – do NOT read this around your family unless you have a stronger will than I and can do so without creeping them out. (According to my husband, when I read smut I “look like a demented vulture staring down at a half-flattened ‘possum waiting for it to take its last breath,” complete with hunched shoulders and heavy breathing. Flattering, I know.) The smut scenes, while not my usual cuppa tea, wreck. My brain? Broke. Chapter four’s budding romance? It’s goin’ on my headstone ‘cuz I’m dead.
There are mentions of human trafficking and the future may include more about it. Slut-shaming comes up a few times because men are assholes and asshole exes are the ultimate assholes. Situational fat-shaming and lack of body confidence come up as Aiko comes to recognize Fat Gum for who he is instead of what he is; on the other end of the tag, Fat is also doing a lot of it to himself even when it isn’t spelled out. You can see it behind some of his reasoning in his POV chapters and since the writer is kickass at portraying thoughts and feelings without ever breaking out of restricted POV, you can also see hints in other chapters. That said, if the shaming was really bad without any redeeming purpose, I’d have noped my way right out’a that fic and never looked back. It has a purpose, and it’s not that bad. Give it a chance.
Recommendation level
This story lacks purple prose and excessive fluff, and I haven’t seen any signs of the pop culture, literary, and music references I love so dearly, but the rating remains the same:
Ten. Out. of. Farking. TEN!
YES! I’ve finally found another 10/10!!! A quick reminder for anyone who’s managed to not see my other reading recc posts, I don’t even need both hands to count off all the 10/10s I’ve read. Congratulations, Ms. MoofyKitten – your story rocks my world and I have an addiction I do not care to shake!
