I like the concept of life series curses being something self inflicted rather than some divine curse of the universe. As in its something that can be worked through if they just learned how, if they just spotted the pattern and moved to correct it. Not that it’s as mundane as Going to Therapy, but it’s magic that reflects a truth about themselves

The Canary Curse is a reflection of Jimmy’s foolhardy determination. The Widow’s curse reflects how Grian holds tactic above connection. 777, the angel number for luck, reflects how Skizz’s friendship is a boon for others at the expense of himself.

If Jimmy just considered how he is doomed, he might take more cautious steps. If Grian just opened up more he could act to protect people instead of damning them. If Skizz recognized that his nature is what ends him, he could protect himself at the cost of others, lasting beyond session 7.

But Jimmy won’t, Grian won’t, and neither will Skizz. And so they are cursed

Now putting aside the anger for how toji messed up with fate and was responsible for breakup of stsg, was toji a bad dad? sure. but was he also a realistic parent? yes and yes. that man was shunned by his clan and looked down upon due to lack of cursed energy and mind you he's the same guy who had the physical capability of wiping out the whole fucking clan. he did not care about his self respect and went astray after his wife's death but he made sure that no matter how seemingly bad decisions he takes it doesn't affect megumi directly, he was an assassin so he kept his child away from him so megumi doesn't get caught up in his dirty business and he knew (atleast thought) tsumiki's parents would take good care of him so he left megumi with them, he also knew that the clan would value and worship megumi for his inherited technique so he made sure they knew that while taking their money and twice before dying his last thoughts were of megumi (and once his wife), the first time he let gojo know about what was to happen to megumi trusting in this lawful strong young man and the second time after he found out that it was his son whom he was fighting he killed himself but with a relief that his son wasn't associated with that awful clan, does all of this make up for whatever he did? no. but was he a human character, justifiable to certain extent too? absolutely

The Wrath of Kzhan by Oh_Contrary

A mission goes terribly wrong when Lance and Pidge are betrayed by their would-be allies. Now Pidge is injured and it's up to Lance to get her to safety-- But can he do so in time to save her? And even if he does, who's going to save him?

pidge & lance fic? ft. bamf protective lance? focus on platonic/sibling love? i got u guys. hard angst with a lot of fear but heavy fluff and comfort at the end, and a very interesting and intentional plot!

2. Lion Heart by ErinWantsToWrite

Lance can't remember. He doesn't know where he is, why he's on this strange planet- yeah a planet that isn't earth- he's just fourteen! Why was he here? Where was his mom? His big sister? Why was this giant, mechanical, blue lion comforting him? Why were these people talking to him through a helmet, even if he couldn't answer? How does he get out of this suit-Who are those purple dudes outside of the lion?

i will always always ALWAYS have the softest of soft spots for de-aged lance. its gotta be one of the top three plot devices fr. oh? lance doesnt know how to be his true self around his team? and his team doesnt know how to understand him yet? here is an easy and fun to read solution 😊

this fic is pretty evenly centered around all the team, but shiro lovers im calling u rn. the last scene with keith and lance and shiro actually made me want to curl up and sob in the best possible way i thought it about it for days after

Lance falls in a river on a strange planet, and gets stranded up the river with an even stranger kid. He's getting pretty tired of waiting for his friends to come rescue him, before realizing, maybe this time, he's going to have to figure out a way to save himself.

i need yall to undestand how batshit feral this fic made me. im always a little bit obsessed with religious imagery, thats just how things are, but this one just had it everywhere and so seamlessly?? in fact i think i actually went insane about this fic before in a separate post, i cant remember when, i just know that ive read this fic a stupid amount of times and i have specific lines memorised and i think about it all the time

5. Take It In, Feel It All and Hold It by @bleusarcellewrites

“Do you wanna try it out, Lance?” Lance blinks at him, eyes narrowed in confusion and making the adult to chuckle. “Dancing, son. Do you wanna dance with me?” “I dunno how, papa.” The five years-old bites his lower lip unsure, looking up at his dad nervously but the adult just smiles softly at his son and holds out both of his hands towards the child. “It’s okay, son,” he comforts gently, “Just take my hands, I got you.” [Small moments that made Lance realize how much he loves dancing with the people he loves]

okay i know a good chunk of you are new so im gonna give u a lil chunk of information, from a voltron elder (my old ass). bleusarcelle was at one point the reigning goddamn monarch of the klance fic world like well and truly. the most iconic and well loved domestic klance fics have ALL come from bleusarcelle i swear to god. and this fic? this particular one? this one is absolutely THEE most parent klance fic of all time. read this and have ur cheeks ache with your smile

The thing about being a Spy x Family manga fan is that there are like... 9 different plots.

A) Operation Strix (plan A and plan B)

B) Miscellaneous goofy school stuff (Anya and Becky go shopping, George Glooman chapter. Yes those technically relate to op. Strix but they aren't directly tied to it so I am counting them as subplots)

C) Loid and Yor develop their relationship

D) Loid, Yor, and Anya develop their relationship as a family

E) Twilight missions

F) Thorn princess missions (cruise ship but also when Yor learns to cook)

G) Yuri chapters 😐 (sorry I'm not a fan of these at all)

H) Fiona chapters (I personally don't like these either though they are slightly less bad)

I) Other misc side character chapters (Bond, Handler, Frankie)

This is good because it makes the story feel more real, and alive (other than the Yuri and Fiona chapters 🤪 Everyone else is experiencing character growth and then they're just the exact same every single time they show up)

But it is also bad because we have to wait two weeks for every chapter. So if your favorite plot is the TwiYor plot, you probably have to wait a month or two since all that other stuff is sandwiched in between.

Anyways this is basically just me being an impatient manga fan rather than reflecting an actual problem with the manga lol. I think it requires more patience than being anime only because even though the anime takes longer to come out, the fact this comes out on a biweekly basis means that it is on our minds more frequently, and we also have to wait weeks for important plot points to be resolved instead of just getting it all in the same episode.

Thatch is very switchy to me. I can see him basically being adaptable to his partner(s).

So you could give his hair a good tug and he might moan for you, or he might growl and pin you down. He'll serve you like he was born for nothing else, and if you tell him to dominate you, he'll have you bent to his will you'll wonder if you ever had control even when he was at your heel.

An important thing about Aziraphale is that he cares so much about being good, but also, he is only ok at it. Not terrible! Just mediocre. Very brave and trying his absolute best with mixed results. To paraphrase the book, neither fundamentally good nor fundamentally bad but fundamentally Aziraphale. He is however trying very hard to save the entire planet and that is really very lovely of him and should count for a lot, especially because his hot not-boyfriend finally made a move after six thousand horny, horny years and he could easily have chosen to get really spectacularly laid instead of reviewing organizational flowcharts and being trapped in meetings with people who hate each other only slightly less than they hate him.
