lions 6, dogs 2 & eagles 6 for omaruin 👀
oops. i rambled
lions 6- Are they good at helping others to master their fear and able to encourage them to be brave in the face of danger or anxiety? What is their strategy for achieving this?
you might think, for someone who's technically been a captain for two ages! when he is, it's not really something he's trying at- i think it works better for him that way. overthinking things never really gets him anywhere, and while not entirely thinking things through has gotten him in his fair share of trouble too, it does also get him some positive outcomes. the overthinking route not so much
i think he was a proper captain- of more than like. five people at once- for all of one battle. some people will address him by rank, but it's not usually like... he's not a giving speeches and waving banners type captain. he's more of a red line/lead the charge jumps headfirst into the fight and trusts or hopes someone's following guy. good for small groups, should not be put in charge of any significantly sized force, really
anyway! that's not the question. honestly i think if he is encouraging, it's because he looks at the situation with all the information they can get and goes 'yeah :) we can take it :)' and just goes all-in on it. he's confident that you can, in fact, win this, and makes it seem downright reasonable to charge in behind him. you see the very competent guy with the giant sword run in and it's just. sure! this will be fine! we've got this :). it's also pretty rare to see him legitimately and obviously worried, which helps with buying into his confidence. if it comes to actively trying to encourage people? i think silear is far better, but halthel/omaruin is just reassuring to have with you
dogs 2- Is your OC loyal to their friends or their family, regardless of the rights and wrongs of a specific situation? Or can they set aside personal loyalty when judging a person's actions or behaviour?
ah! the fun one for the feanorian soldier :)
it does depend a little bit on when exactly you're talking. i mean- ultimately, yeah, he'll break away from someone if they're doing things he disagrees with, it just takes him a lot longer to get there in some cases. he very much did fight at alqualonde, and stayed with the feanorian armies up through the fifth battle. he likes to think he'd have turned on them for kinslaying2 or 3 even if he hadn't ended up at the havens for so long, but honestly? he's not really sure what he would have done. his opinions on maedhros and everyone are Complicated lol. like. he's very aware of Hey, That's [kinslayings] Fucked Up, but he does also generally think well of most of them. he spent a long time at himring- it would be a lot less tolerable if you didn't at all trust your commander. honestly, he has a hard time reconciling maedhros as his commander with the guy he fought briefly lol at the havens
anyway. point is, yes, he'll set aside personal loyalty. eventually. it might just take awhile to get there in some cases
eagles 6- What does "nobility" mean to your OC? Is there a moral or social code by which they live? What values drive them? Are there some that they reject?
most of it boils down to 'are you doing murder? are you causing massive harm to people? no? ok.' as far as... hmm... i don't know all his thoughts re:valar yet, but. he's definitely lacking in reverence for the most part. fear or wariness? that's a different question entirely. he doesn't talk about any of it a whole lot tho. a whole lot of him is 'everyone's good at different things- i'm good at the fighting bit, so i'll just keep doing this :) that way people who don't take to it naturally don't have to worry about it :)'. there's a bunch of other stuff underneath that, but that is a significant thing. dark lords keep not being entirely removed from the world, so he keeps jumping back in
nobility... he finds a lot of nobility in fighting for something even if you don't have to- if there are others who would instead. he finds a different kind in fighting because you do have to. his thoughts on service run similarly, i think

im going to cry over richas letter about q!quackity. "he always looks very lonely but being close to him makes you admire the smallest of things. dad quack's world is full of beautiful colors" (<- translation). im going to cry. hes loved by everyone even if he can't see it. richas especially loves him so so much, and quackity has been gone for so long and probably feels even more bitter and isolated than ever..
and RICHAS, imagine being richas and having one of your parental figures disappear. someone you love so much in spite of their flaws. having to watch them be replaced by some weird plastic clone that looks oh so similar but acts so cold. and no one else in your family goes looking for the real one, they stay gone.

hey so the order in which the strawhats disappeared was really fucked up right???
i mean, Kizaru was already targeting Zoro because he was more hurt than the rest, so they were already escaping from a fucking admiral and his men, and then Kuma was in front of them, the real Kuma appears out of nowhere, the moment we see him we forget momentarily about Kizaru- because there's this moment between Zoro and Kuma where they talk about what happened in Thriller Bark,
"Roronoa... so you were alive",
"all thanks to you benevolence"
and the next thing we know, is that Zoro's fucking gone
so onto what i wanted to yap about, the order in which they disappear:
everyone was worried about the current situation, but the top priority while they were escaping was Zoro- Zoro, who couldn't move- Zoro, who Kizaru wanted dead first- Zoro, who wanted to be left behind so the rest could escape, Zoro, who knows what the warlord in front of him is capable of-
Zoro, the first ever member of the crew.
everyone see this and it's worse than actually witnessing his death, because he's just gone and they have no idea where he is. and no matter how much they want to do something, Luffy orders them to keep running, that they will find a way to rescue Zoro once they're all safe,
but Kuma's too fast and he's right next to Usopp, Sanji and Brook, he tries to buy some time for Sanji and Usopp,
but it's in vain
and then Brook's next, he's the second one to get taken away, the last member to have joined them
(and not only the fact that he's their newest member, but the fact that it's made a point he's been trying his hardest to fit in and be helpful I'm SICK)
Sanji could have been next, but in trying to protect Usopp what he ends up accomplishing is that their sniper gets taken away next, the fact that Usopp's third makes me go absolutely batshit crazy with the way they frame it too
he's so so scared, how could he not be?? and it's not the same fear he usually feels while on their adventure, it's pure desperation- there's no one to help him and he can't fight- he can't get away and-
and then he's gone
Sanji instead of running, he charges, angry at Kuma and at himself (oh the way he was gripping his hair because he couldn't do anything to save Zoro and Brook) at this point it's obvious what the outcome will be, that's why Luffy specifically yells at him to run
but he doesn't, and then he's gone too.
(Usopp being third is fucked up mostly because Sanji's the fourth one, and they make it a point to show him trying to rescue Usopp. a less powerful member dissapears right in front of one of the most powerful of them, and then Sanji, who can hold his ground as much as Zoro and Luffy can, disappears)
in the blink of an eye, half of Luffy's crew isn't there
Luffy's full on crying at this point, everything's happening too fast, and why is Kuma even doing this in the first place? he has to do something before they take the rest of his crew- because he made it obvious that this isn't something the world government ordered him to do, so they're facing two enemies at once, a warlord and an admiral,
Luffy goes gear two, and when Kuma sees this, he goes to where Franky and Nami are- Luffy tries to strike an attack (and the fact that this could be where he sends him away but chooses not to Oh my fucking god) but Kuma easily stops him, and right there he touches Franky (he's the fifth one and it's too crazy just how he goes group for group, not only the order in which they disappear one by one) with Luffy right there, he's right there watching directly when it happens.
and then there's Nami. with them i think it the contrary of what happened with Usopp and Sanji, here, Nami's the one left alone, they take Franky first, who had tried to defend them both
oh this goddamn scene I SWEAR- it's incredibly painful to watch, at this point there are only four strawhats still standing, but there's no hope left, they can only keep trying but it's obvious that they're just acting on instinct, that's why Nami asks for help, because she knows there's nothing else to do- she tries to reach out for Luffy, her captain, the way Luffy had been so close to both Franky and Nami when Kuma touched them? horribly well done
Luffy's literally begging that Kuma leaves them alone but then he goes to where Chopper is, and Chopper- ughhhhh, the fact he used a form he couldn't even control just to try to save his friends, THE FACT that Kuma touches him when he's like that- the doctor of the strawhats, he's seventh one to disappear, and he couldn't even process it, Chopper didn't even know most of his crew was gone (if he hadn't been transformed, i'm sure he would have reached out too, just like Nami and Robin)
the last one is Robin, Robin being the last one killed me, the "demon child" that had found her places in the world, who wants to live, live with her crew, the ones that showed her she's worth fighting the entire world for- she calls for Luffy, and then- (Luffy running and shouting at Robin to get away, he's not fast enough and when he reaches Kuma he's already touched Robin FUCK-)
then Luffy's the only one there, Luffy being the last one is cruel having him watch his entire crew vanish in front of him was torture, and we're just left with him and his pain, Luffy has cried before, but not like this, not as he beats himself up for not being able to save his friends.
and it ends with this:

@hulloitsdani I HAD TO. ROTATE THIS. IN MY MIND. SO MUCH. CAUSE HERE'S THE THING I think on the surface it COULD make sense and has SO much potential writing-wise and I have hardly thought about that before -- but!!!!
While I have been goofing on Ratatoskr and how she's just a poor little thang, upon meeting she DID tell Alfonse this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which gives you SO much information actually. Like. She knows a lot more than she lets on -- not because she's lying outright or even putting up a front, but because she's just. So overwhelmed and emotional and sensitive (LOUDLY so) that may be the only thing you notice, maybe even underestimating her. But I feel Alfonse took this information and did the opposite -- it's an odd position to be in, to be known presumably very well by someone who's a stranger to you. But I think he takes this in, and takes his first impression of her and her personality, motives, the conflict within her, and decides to put his faith in her.
I think ALSO he could be viewing her as a valuable ally, acknowledging:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think, he sees she has potential, if he can win her over and have her fight on his side. I THINK. Primarily his motivation is practical. Making a quick judgement of her, coming to the conclusion she could be a valuable asset and could help the Heroes even more (going back to, him saying "She can even tell them I asked her to get us more information on the assassination plot" and "If our enemy thinks like I do... they'll see a similar opportunity in front of them.")
AUGH INTERRUPTING THAT THOUGHT THOUGH!!!!!! I FEEL LIKE!!!!!! PART OF THE GAMBIT IS "She would be a valuable ally" AND on the flipside "She could pose a considerable threat if she changed her mind and strengthened her resolve in the opposite direction (to kill me)" so winning her over is part of defusing the threat. AND it's an extra win to have all that information if she does choose the Heroes. AND it's an extra LOSS if she does leave, since she takes all that information with her AND has the advantage while the Order is left scrambling in the dark. Plus also!!!!!! Her having that intimate knowledge of his routines!!!!!! If he loses Ratatoskr, he Knows he's gonna suffer severe consequences.
ALSO. ALSO!!!!!!!! I FEEL LIKE!!!!!!!!!! That is WHY him letting her go and EMPHASIZING she can do whatever she deems necessary, EVEN giving her sisters inside knowledge on the Heroes. I FEEL LIKE. THIS IS ACTUALLY. VERY MUCH (on a much smaller scale!!!!) another Letizia moment. HEAR ME OUT
Tumblr media
Right before The Moment, he's judging Letizia's character, what he knows to be true about her, her PERSONALITY and the way she thinks. Which leads him to go sicko mode on her (because! That Was the course of action to take with her!!!!)
THIS TIME. He's met with a very emotional, very distressed and conflicted assassin who seems to have a moral compass and is conflicted about what she's been ordered to do. In one way, she's almost like a bomb that has to be defused -- she Does pose a threat, and the threat needs to be addressed before it goes off/is out of his hands. And in this case, appealing to her emotions IS the answer!
AND. I THINK. PART of that appeal WAS to place That Much trust in her. ESPECIALLY communicating to her, she's not Required to remain loyal to the Heroes. Giving her a choice, between them and her sisters. He's heavily relying on Ratatoskr's internal conflict and also (surely it hasn't been missed on him) her attachment to him, or at very least her respect for him as a person she's come to admire. It's an extreme chance to take, but I think he knows if Ratatoskr can 1) Feel like she made the choice herself, and 2) He can catch her on another emotionally driven motivation (When she requests a favor in return, which is for the Heroes to Save her Sisters) -- I think he's fully confident he can win her over without forcing her to do anything.
WHICH. ALSO. HELPS WIN HER OVER BC her MAIN conflict she's struggling with is Being Forced To Do Something She Doesn't Want To. By NOT being forceful with her, by EMPHASIZING she can take any action she deems fit, he's set up a situation WHERE the Order of Heroes is the preferable option. He leaves her with the impression that her feelings matter, that she has agency, and ultimately it's up to her.
I FEEL LIKE........ I am talking in circles LMFAOOO BUT. I think Another thing (before thought interruption) was Alfonse's lines saying, "It's a gamble on our part, but if our enemy thinks like I do... they will see a similar opportunity in front of them." ESPECIALLY into:
Tumblr media
WHICH stood out to me SO much because I think it really captures how practically motivated he IS here. He is using her. He's acknowledging, that if their enemy is Like Him, they're using her, too. He's creating a situation with a desired outcome, making the Order of Heroes the more desirable option to align with, giving her the feeling that she Can choose -- and, this is true! He's entirely put the choice in her hands. But in DOING that, it strengthens the possibility of her seeing the Heroes AS the desirable option. Which is the goal. Which is what he wants. He Is prepared, most likely, for the event this backfires, but also he's fully confident Ratatoskr Will choose them. (Also, as I say he was "most likely prepared for backfire"..... honestly that may not even be the case. Alfonse bluffs and bullshits his way around and out of things so much it would make Phoenix Wright blush).
WHICH ALSO LIKE..... AAAUGHGHHHH rotating him in my mind forever. You can See his traits and tendencies, see how he uses them for the benefit of his allies and those he cares about, but also SO clearly you can see. How A Lot of That is deeply rooted in his own moral compass (which is good!) and his own perspective (which is limited and sometimes flawed) and you can see. EXACTLY how these things can twist and turn and get really ugly LMFAOO
And man I haven't even gotten to Alear yet but I have THOUGHTS about his interactions w her too I need to make a separate post about LMFAOO 😅 (hit image limit and also feels like another topic entirely 🫡)

i've been wondering- what do you think of vash and ww's relationship to pain? do u have any thoughts on it??
cuz i was just thinking like. obviously they're both extremely resilient and don't care much if they get hurt in the process of achieving whatever, but like... as for the pain specifically, i have to wonder.
cuz i'm reading trimax for the first time and toward the end of the sand steamer mess kite basically asks if vash even feels pain. and i mean... he has to, since not that long ago he just hit the floor with a dramatic blood splatter lmao. but like.
is he just suppressing visible reactions? or does he just not feel pain unless it's above a certain level?
and i wanna know about ww too if you have thoughts, i just haven't gotten that far in trimax :')
forgive me if my wording is all over the place, i havent been very elegant in my words Lately, but i am always down to talk about specific shit involving vash and wolfwood,
if we're just talking physical pain, yeah, i think they feel pain normally!
For Vash, he is the master of repression throughout Trimax, so I think naturally, he keeps a strong face no matter the level of hurt, whether on the outside or inner. It's just in his nature to not allow others to worry about him by pulling through with a fake smile or in some cases, he feels like he deserves the pain inflicted on him so even if he's getting pulverized to shit or threatened against his life, he'd default to a silence as opposed to screaming in agony that might make people think he isn't feeling anything. It's probably also second nature for him to no longer yelp or cry at pain after the amount of years he's spent getting hurt, but i think this only applies if he isn't emotionally involved in a fight (which is rare, but it happens in ch. 38).
In terms of physical pain, he seems to feel it like how regular humans do. I've thrown together some examples where he goes owchie owchie owchie that aren't too spoilery:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Emilio scene is kind of why I don't think he's just playing up the theatrics of feeling pain, though I do think he would on some occasion, especially since he roleplays with children all the time. Verbally saying "ow ow ow" could potentially be an instinctive reaction too or maybe a source of comfort. But yeah!! I think Vash has always been able to feel pain and it's not like being a plant has lessen his ability to do so. Any resilience built is tacked on due to him being alive for 100 years and being a guy with a clear painted bullseye on his entire figure that ends up getting him shot and scarred.
In the end, the pain that gets to Vash the most will always be on an emotional level rather than physical, but Vash is such a genuine person and so present when it comes to other people that even if it's a pain he can take, it'll still hurt him terribly in more ways than one.
For Wolfwood; I think in general, those under the Eye of Michael have a strong resilience to dealing with pain due to the regen potions and the amount of training forced on them. I don't think we ever get the full description of what exactly those in EoM endured throughout their younger years, but we saw WW get shot at an early age in chapter 12 and we can assume it happened more than once. Over and over again until he won't even flinch against it just like how killing without hesitation was attempted to be drilled into him. I don't really know how it works scientifically… but I fully believe that he's mostly numbed to the physical sensation of it and it's the psychological part that gets to him more. Wolfwood himself is a naturally skilled fighter too, not that that really has anything to do with his dealing with pain, but I think his focus and attention on a battle and his stubbornness to win kicks an adrenaline that allows him to ignore the pain.
Though, his body also gets sore and tired just like any regular human does and there's this instance where he goes owie too:
Tumblr media
(While NOT as much as Tristamp WW does where he's cracking a cold one every goddamn minute, I do think Trimax WW has gotten used to taking regen pots and thus, can afford to be careless and not give a damn.)
So, physically, technically in canon, they don't really have anything that specially makes either of them unable to feel pain, but just as you said, they're incredibly resilient. And ultimately, the both of them are affected emotionally/psychologically that hurts them more than the physical aspect of it, considering how physical pain is almost a daily chore for them to deal with (Vash being hunted for sport for majority of his life + Wolfwood being involved in experiments/killings for majority of his life.)
I think Trigun in general, while showing physical pain being a strong factor of hurt for regular people like us constantly seeing civiilians get beat up or shot, it tends to boil down to the multiple varieties of pain when it comes to those who deal with physical pain often (Gung Hos, Vash, EoM members).
I didn't know where to put these comments but here are extra thoughts:
They're both evidently really good at hiding their pains or any mark of vulnerability. They both could have a hole in their chest and go days without anyone else noticing so long it isn't killing them.
They're both pretty reckless during battle, but I think for Vash, he already tries to avoid violence at all cost and thus, do in a roundabout way lessen his own chance of getting hit in hoping to not stir that violence against another. As a result, I think Wolfwood can be way more reckless and ends up getting hurt more unnecessarily as a result of it.
They both are capable of healing at quick rates so I'm sure that allows the pain to feel more temporary, less of a risk to sustain, and to further hone in not caring too much about getting shot. That only applies for themselves individually though because every time they see each other get hurt, they're always so so worried despite knowing the other will be fine.
i'm pretty sure i repeated myself like 800 times, but i hope this Answered the question SFGMSDKGSMDKH i also tried to be vague enough in my wordings and focus only on the beginning-ish of trimax so to not spoil! i hope u enjoy ur reading of it!!

What if Pix the Copper King and Pix the Archaeoloist are the same person?
The Copper King disappeared before even hints of the Rapture started to emerge in ancient times. He was a figure of great knowledge, wealth, and mystery, and one of the most respected, if distant Emperors of the time.
His Empire, known at the time (but likely not before or after it) as Pixandria, worshipped death. The center of their civilization stood a monument known as the Vigil: a remembrance of all those that died in all the Empires, at the time of everyone else's memory. Only some drawings and paintings depict the Vigil now, for most of Pixandria at some point was buried by its sea of sand.
But it is said that despite being the one to tend to the Vigil the most, and hold some of the most sacred duties of it, the Copper King did the unthinkable, and denied death to his fellow Emperors. He uncovered a magic forgotten for a reason, and traded it with those rich enough to afford it.
And for that, he was punished. So they say, at least.
Since he denied kings and queens death, death shall deny him his eternal rest, until all those that paid him repay their debt to the afterlife.
The Copper King then fled into the desert, and was never heard from again. Not even as the Rapture claimed the mainland Empires, as his city was swallowed into the sand. It's possible that he died along with the rest of the great powers at the time, and "equally as possible that he still wanders the world in a self-imposed exile..."
Pix set down his pen and leaned back in his chair with a sigh. He gets tired of writing out this same story every once in a while, honestly. It's the accepted history yeah, but sometimes it's a little frustrating to make out the Copper King as some shadowy, potential evil figure who abandoned everyone just before their moment of need.
He looked out the window flap of his tent at the rising sun. Oh, it was morning already? He slid his chair out from his desk and stretched his back from writing for probably too long for what's considered healthy.
But when he went outside, the golden sun beams creeping over the mountains illuminating the highlights of the leftovers of Gilded Helanthia were a nice wake up call. He had a lot of work to do today- excavate more of the farming district, feed the dodos, oh yeah and Lizzie stopped by the other day wanting to trade slime for froglights again, right?
And of course, Pix had his other type of work to do today. A favor, for some old friends.
He knew the truth, written in between the lines of his ink. Maybe it wasn't quite a curse placed on him. Maybe Pixandria wasn't as buried as they thought. Maybe he didn't want to leave his friends. Maybe not all his friends ever died, same as him. Maybe his friends never left, and needed someone to guide them.
Oh, goodness me- Is that a FACE on Hermitopia?!

oops, got myself thinking again about byan having a little hoard of weird and random trinkets and shiny things hidden away under their bed in the same way that some cats have collections of bottle caps under furniture.
like, none of it is particularly meaningful and they don't wear any of the jewelry that's under there, but they like to pull it all out once in a while to look at and are always adding more
#there's a lot of jewelry but there's a lot of other shiny things and weirder stuff too#like there's a heart shaped rock they stole from someone in elementary and some pretty feathers they've found on the ground#but then there's also a wrapper from a cute snack they had and a bone from some random animal they found in a park#colourful buttons and cute ribbons and a trading card from a game they've never played#and probably also a pink bottle cap tbh#literally just a random collection of Stuff they like but have no use for#it's a collection they've had to rebuild a few times too#bc staff/caretakers at the group home(s) would find it all sometimes and throw away whatever looked like junk or trash#tbh it's a collection they still have and add to even after they move in w sol and start sharing a bed#and they still keep it under the bed ofc bc it's habit at this point and honestly I'm not so sure they've even told him it's there 🤔#...im rambling bc I'm kinda buzzed but like. idk I love byan and their pile of random shit#I think part of what got them started was want to actually Have Things bc they grew up not having much#and they would ABSOLUTELY get jealous of kids at school who had all kinds of belongings#who could have coherent collections and all the cool toys and shit#so they just started collecting anything that caught their eye#even if it was labels off of bottles or those cheap erasers shaped like animals or food or w/e that don't actually erase anything#and it's a habit that persisted after they started stealing basically anything they wanted/needed#and will continue to persist even once they have a job and money to buy what they want#god I kept rambling even after trying to wrap things up smh#this is the shit I'm talking about when I say I have weirdly specific and detailed thoughts about inane and unimportant aspects of byan#━━ ˟ ⊰ ✰ ooc ⋮ don’t @ me.

i’m sure this has been mentioned but we need to take a second to appreciate the character growth dean has from season 1 to 4. he used to be the attacker, the shoot first ask questions later, don’t question orders and follow dads lead kind of guy. he was raised that way, raised a soldier. but his interactions with early, god’s soldier cas really shows that he grew out of that mindset. its almost like a mirror of who dean used to be before he realized that john actually wasn’t a perfect man and fucked up a lot. him saying that you always have a choice??? think he learned that the hard way when he disobeyed his dad by saving sam and selling his soul. i think dean regaining control over his own free will because of his dedication to protecting sam, and it being made really fucking clear through cas, is going to be the end of me

I think a lot of people don't understand that while trans men* very rarely have any foothold against cis women misogyny-wise, its also very rare for trans women** to be able to wield any power against either of those groups, misogyny-wise in particular. Like, cis women fuck over trans men in discussions of reproductive justice and excuse it with all manner of ridiculous excuses but the same thing happens all the fucking time to trans women in feminist discussions/spaces and it comes from all sides, trans and cis.
I think discussing misogyny and feminism and being trans inclusive is very, very important. But it means fuck all to trans inclusion if you're not actively fighting transphobia/transmisogyny/intersexism, ect, ect as well and it means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact some of y'all are only blaming men for the restriction of reproductive rights in places like the US while ignoring the white supremacy and intersectional bigotry at hand and excluding trans men from your activism because you want something simple and familiar, like feminism before you pretended to give a fuck about trans people. It means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact some of y'all want 2010 feminism back because you're transmisogynistic assholes who never worked through your bullshit. It means fuck all when we STILL CAN'T discuss the fact TERFs and radfems recruit trans men and AFAB transmascs because they know the power y'all can hold in feminist spaces over trans women and they'll own up to that even if plenty of y'all won't. It means fuck all when plenty of cis women will actively exclude trans men from discussions of misogyny because they really don't want to understand how trans people fit into feminism. It means fuck all if we can't discuss the fact feminism means NOTHING while most folks, trans and cis alike, ignore intersexism unless it'll handily prove some sort of point.
It means fuck all if we don't acknowledge the state of feminism is abysmal and will go nowhere if no one wants to put in the fucking work. And putting in the fucking work DOES mean acknowledging privilege, it does mean working to understand these systems of oppression, it does mean actually understanding intersectionality instead of treating it like a subtract or addition problem in a second grade textbook.
I've rambled here but I'm trying to say y'all have got to at least admit you HAVE these privileges in order to ask yourselves the important questions. Like: do I want liberation more than I want to oppress someone else? And: how many friends am I willing to lose for the right reasons?
*Or other trans folks who fall into a similar societal position, like a lot of transmascs
**Or other trans folks who fall into a similar societal position, like a lot of transfems

i wanna get into ORV but i still don’t understand it 😭😭
CACKLES SO FUCKING LOUDLY (Caps: cackles so fucking loudly). Ahem. [cracks knuckles]
Okay so ORV (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint) is a webnovel which is currently being adapted into a webtoon, and I really enjoy both!! But if I had to pick one, it's the webnovel no question <3 I talked about accessing both here!
I went into it completely and entirely blind except for the main character's name, which was probably the best thing I've done for myself all year, but my summary for you (which I had to stop myself halfway through and cut down for size THRICE):
ORV follows Kim Dokja, an isolated and lonely office worker whose contract is expiring and whose only (and I mean only) joy in life is a massively long, horrendously convoluted webnovel called "Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World". He is the only reader in the entire world of this novel, as everyone else had long since fallen off about ten chapters in due to the fact that it fucking sucks-- but that means that when his subway ride home is interrupted by the world ending in exactly the way it does in his favorite story, he's also the person with the best chance in all the world to see the apocalypse through to a happy ending.
The novel, as indicated by the title and premise, is SO meta, and never in a cheesy or grating way-- ORV chews you up and spits you out with how incisively, brilliantly, and beautifully it works its themes, and every single character and character dynamic will grip you by the motherfucking throat. It is the funniest thing I've ever read and I've almost cried about it in public multiple times and I keep zoning out and staring into the middle distance during dinner because I keep having new belated realizations about its ending. It may look long and intimidating, but it doesn't FEEL long because the pacing is incredible, and also it constantly lampshades itself by acknowledging that the in-universe apocalypse is incredibly stupid and by having multiple scenes where the characters lay out past plot points in great detail and then go "wow this sucks and is stupidly overcomplicated." ORV is complex and beyond intelligently written, but it never takes itself too seriously, and it's better for it <3
ORV is hard to explain because it is so much all the time. In the best possible way, half the time it sounds like a fanfic-y fever dream. Kim Dokja IS bisexual and he IS autistic and he IS INSANE. It is impossible to encapsulate because everything I could say about it would fall short of its actuality, and Tumblr functions on recommending things through hyperbole but ORV is literally just like that. ORV is about the power of fiction and it's about meeting your blorbo in the flesh and immediately annoying him so bad he tries to kill you and it's about staggering, world-defying love of every kind and it's about your friends kinkshaming you and it's about learning to live with the fact that you deserve to live. I will, very genuinely, never be the same after reading it. This is the worst rec post in the world and I sincerely apologize. Please read ORV

So… I made Black Widow already for this idea. Two designs, one for working as a security officer and one for operating a smuggling ring. I already knew I wanted her to be security personnel immediately after having this idea. (Definitely not an excuse to draw both versions of Widow)
Design may change to better fit later on, but this is just the main concept for it to get it out there and explain my ideas.
So I already have a bunch of silly thoughts running through my head and realized that both games have some details that work surprisingly well when you put them together.
Here’s my thoughts for Widow, only general thoughts so far and basic ideas. Under a read more just in case:
-She works in security aboard the space station (not sure what I should call the space station yet)
-Operates a smuggling ring that gets contraband on and off station (very useful to some coworkers), and no one has caught her in the act
-Her pet hamster is on station, hidden in her room. Almost no one knows about the hamster.
-Knows little about the typhon. Only knows general information about mimics and is aware weavers exist, but that’s about it.
-Despite knowing little, she is concerned about the dangers the typhon bring as they are kept on station.
-Brought up concerns to higher ups, but was brushed off
-Had began the smuggling ring not long after, both about of revenge towards higher ups and because of personality shifts due to neuromod removal
-Neuromod removal was mandatory as typhon have broken containment previously and Widow was forced to forget it; this removal also caused shifts. For Widow, one would be that she originally loved painting but now resents it.
-Does not mind destroying company property or own contraband if it means achieving her goals
-What those goals are? Undecided as of yet.
Terms used from Prey:
Typhon are the alien creatures aboard the space station, these include mimic varieties, weavers, phantom varieties, poltergeists, telepath, technopath, and the nightmare of course.
Neuromods- neural modifiers- are essentially learned skills that are pre-mapped out for the brain. Example from game is a pianist having their skills mapped out and one using the neuromod to restructure their brain to have these skills as if they’ve always had them. Neuromod removal resets the brain to the moment before someone puts the neuromod in. Game lore suggests that extensive use of neuromod removal and injection causes personality drifts.

I'm typing up some responses to these asks, and this sounds crazy, but man, I only just realized how utterly in love I am with Yelan's trailer.
I'll make a post where I'll be dissecting her trailer like I did Kafka's, but it really hit me tonight how even in the first 10 seconds, they really emphasize this 'noir' element that it has. Now for anyone who's unfamiliar, 'noir' is often used in a film noir concept, which is a genre of film that usually involves crime, mystery and a lot of moral ambiguity; and its presentation is also quite specific, often defaulting to B/W or de-saturated visuals in bleak or low lighting, often in weather and hours of the day that only add to the setting and mood respectively. Along with this, because it emerged during the 1940s and 1950s, it goes hand in hand with a lot of smokey, smooth jazz music, as that was the era when that peaked.
All of these things are present in Yelan's trailer. Immediately when you load in, you see Liyue Harbor in the background but it's not during the hours during which it's bright or at its most beautiful, no, it's bleak, grim and it's raining, and immediately we hear a slow piano kicking it. And when we zoom in on her and the man that she's talking to, they're momentarily out of focus and we really see the stark contrast of the warmth of the lights and the street that they're standing in while there's something close to a downpour. And god, the reveal of her face, or more specifically, her eyes, is so incredibly delayed that it immediately adds a sense of mystery, but more so, of intrigue, something so significant to her character. But to return to the weather for a second; Genshin is usually so bright and rain isn't exactly the most common— that the rain in this, and the mood it creates, really stands out to me. Instead of the bright colors that we're always faced with, we instead see very desaturated colors which bring it closer to that B/W feeling that is so inherently and intrinsically tied to the 'noir' genre. And the music, ugh, and it continues, it literally becomes so jazzy, none of this can be a coincidence, but now I'm even more hooked to her character. Ugh. It's literally what I said in my NY'E' post, every time I think I don't get more crumbs, I either am given more or I re-watch things and have all these new revelations. Hoyo, this has got to be a strategic and very intended decision, it's driving me crazy.
Yelan started as a character I wanted to pull for game-play purposes (was told not to, and then I learned she's pretty much a must pull), and then finally got, to finally playing through Perilous Trail and going 'uh oh', to then still wondering sometimes why I love her as much as I do. And then I realize this stuff, and everything makes sense and I love her even more.

I headcannon Dorcas as being really artsy and crafty especially with jewelry and whatnot so I propose this: Dorcas making her and Marlene matching rings on Marlene’s birthday. Her being restlessly teased for it by the skittles and pulling like three all nighters and getting a million small injuries on her hands just to get them done and make sure they’re perfect (because Marlene deserves nothing but perfection) and her being slightly embarrassed that she put so much work into it and her just desperately hoping that Marlene likes it. Then it’s Marlene’s birthday and she decides to give her the rings later when it’s just them. Then later it’s just her and Marlene in their flat, laying down on the couch together, a movie on that they’re not really paying attention to, just them talking and laughing and spending time together and then Dorcas pulls out the velvet lined box she got that is quite big because it’s also a ring jewelry box (that dorcas bought and painted herself) so Marlene can keep all her rings in (she has a lot of rings) and not just the one Dorcas made. She hands Marlene the box and Marlene is confused and Dorcas says,“One last present for you sweetheart…hope you like it” and Marlene takes it and opens it and there are two rings inside. They’re both identical small moths outlined in silver and the only things that’s different are the wings. there’s a different crystal on each ring filling in the wings. Marlene’s moth has Lapis Lazuli wings, a sorta of royal blue colored crystal with small gold streaks running through it. Dorcas’ moth has Green Adventurine wings, and it’s a soft, light green color. Marlene is silent for a few seconds and then actually starts to tear up a bit. Dorcas is worried that she did something wrong and starts to say that she’s sorry and that if Marlene doesn’t like it she can take it back but then Marlene interrupts her by softly pressing their lips together. It’s gentle and sweet and passionate and Dorcas is so so so in love and then they pull away and all Marlene says is a breathless,”I love you…”. And that makes all Dorcas’ hard work worth it.
